Yes
Seems pretty on par with fishing irl... get the fish up to the boat then they thrash and break the line...
meadow should act like a stocked up easy fishing area, any skill less than 10 should give us a pretty easy time realing in the fish.
Omg I threw my line and a bunch of trollfish just appeared out of nowhere
Yeah I'm fishing for trollfish though
Would make sense why they're so damn sluggish I guess
I love how I randomly decided to play this game years ago and look where we are now. 🥳
Agreed
May 2021 saw it on steam as co-op and me and the lady decided to try it. She quit after plains but I’m still here
Is there a certain kind of building that spawns the ||curious axe head|| ?
My two friends were playing and invited me, so I played it on my brothers steam family share with them
After about 30 minutes of playing I got kicked off because my brother started a game. I instantly bought Valheim to continue and now I have almost 1000 hours
Holy
yeah, from what i've seen others say, one head spawns in|| a normal house-looking house, and the other in one of those rectangular towers.||
but most commonly they spawn in ||we're sorry, but the princess is in another castle.||
curious heads only drop from the wooden towers so you can ignore the others
Are bosses supposed to follow you for so long when you run away from them? For example Yagluth once followed us across an entire ocean to our base. Was this an intent of the developers?
This one:
We are supposed to beat them, but yeah, they can follow you for a good distance.
thanks to all of you for the help
I did a frost cave for the first time since 2023 and got tetras
I'm jealous, I have yet to find them.
I didn’t even need to fish them they were just on the floor near the water
All four were level one
Those lakes were my hard block to earning the fishing hat, the one time I tried.
how often first boss's spawn is across the ocean?
Rare. Even more rare if all 3 spawns are
Anyone wanna start new?
i think im joining the ranks of people who only got lots of mysterious axe heads. 😢
Eikthyr is usually on my starter. Rare for him not to be.
Elder is usually far away. Several island's away.
update: found the ||curious axe head|| too, lesgo!
well, perhaps incorrect to say that it is across the ocean, but walking by land is mostly dark forest and like 4-5 times longer then distane then by directly by ocean. also both starting altar and Eikthyr's one are pretty much on the coast
you can do cool random seeds on the world generator and take a look at other worlds.
definitely starter islands that have no bosses, and other worlds where 3 or 4 bosses area all running distance. pretty rare to get all 5 early bosses without have to go searching multiple lands away.
7 bears and no trophy :aware:
Bear trophy feels more like 1/30 chance
Bear trophies are hard to find. I like how defeating one stars deflate them to regular size.
If you guys REALLY want a bear trophy, there is a guaranteed bear trophy drop from ||destroying Haldors bear carpet||
I remember seeing a video on that.
Golem trophy: ☠️
Stone golems have trophies?
I don't think I've ever had a golem trophy
In 1000 hours
Granted I avoid golems, so makes sense. But still
Not me who has 3 stone golem trophies in 1 run 😭
I guess with This coming to Switch later this year. That 1.0 will be around the same time? So deep north out later this year... but how much later?
They're going to test it on us before sending it to the switch.
Not confirmed yet, but you're not the first to suspect it for 2026. But Switch 2 and PS5 are confirmed for this year.
I didn't realize stone golem trophies weren't a modded item for a long time and I have 700 hours in this game
#screenshots message @compact nova It is known issue and will be fixed in next hotfix update.
It gets like that because it gets damaged.
Alright, good to know it's not my pc messing with me or anything.
14th bear gave it
What mistland structures drop iron outside the ancient swords/armor? Not listed on the wiki.
The aqueducts/bridges made of black marble and iron grates
Ah it gives pure iron. Not scrap. I was looking at the scrap iron page
before i go all the way up, how many mysterious before a curious? :3
cause i had 6 mysterious and only one curious
Fortunately only 2 and within like 10 days of starting the world.,
Yeah, real easy to get if you set up a stone cutter and forge. It takes seconds if the bridge isn't close to rocks, etc...
IIRC you still get copper scraps, not bars, as well.
Do the aquaducts have the copper decorations which would drop those? 🤔 I can't remember.
They do
Pendant is the better option but the hat is cooler
yall developers are goated for making this game omg
Rug!
it still makes me sad that all rugs share the exact same comfort status
like lox tier or higher imo should give +2 comfort or something to make those rugs have some value
Pendant honestly
I'm hanging the trophy on top of my door.
Actually it's warmer.
But it's looking more cool fur sure...
For a short while they all added 1 point.
yea, all of the rugs stacked
which they removed sometime in the mistlands timeline
because they didn't like us having 30 min of rested 🙁
Think it was earlier. Than that.
what a rug pull 😐
nah it wasn't
It might have been some time after Mistlands.
yea somewhere around the mistlands timeline
Thought they changed it when they added tar and all those build items.
To be fair players do a lot of exploration and you only need 24m of rested buff for the entire day, going out at night is practically useless unless you have a reason
Could be interesting if any combo of 2 rugs could net up to +2 comfort
Although 30m of rested buff is nice..
I think stone floor should be -1 comfort
I'm happy when I hit 22 minutes.
Blackmarble -2
Straw pile should be +1 comfort for animals 😔
20th December 2022 patch.
for the mother in law apartment
That was to close lmao. I got root armor so i was gonna early collect needles from the plains. Usually i can handle them and roll dodge 1 fuling until its dead. I run into a fuling and 1 star fuling i immediately shat activated Ekithyr ability and ran.
Classic
You can beat them in bronze gear. Not something I'd recommend until your confident about it. Its not exactly easy.
how much extra defense am i gonna get on ashlands armor compared to a level 2 carapace set
Not nearly enough
- to matter, Ashlands enemies are punishing even with 3 hp food, 120 armor, and high skills. A 2* warrior will most likely hit you for like 150+ damage through blocking. It’s dumb
Ashlands is mainly about passive upgrades.
Put on the Asksvin set and the Ash cape and your stamina costs get cut drastically, without sacrificing any noticeable armor amount.
do charred enemies attack morgens
No, but Morgen AoE has friendly fire enabled.
it looked like they were fighting
why is there a giant green light coming from the ground
You should take a closer look and find out!
is it gonna kill me
is that a castle
of course im getting shot at
charred fortress
how do i get in
new plan actually
what do i need for a long rested buff
Ashlands was way easier on me my third time through. I only died 3 times, and 2 of those were to the boss. Understanding all the mobs goes a long way.
A house/base with all the comfort maximizing furniture. Though you can always just place a campfire and sit next to it for your rested buff.
idk maybe you’ll unlock a new interesting crafting recipe if you explore a little more and get some flametal
Then we would need slippers that would negate all negative comfort from flooring 😁
Yes
yeah same spots, just give them a few days to respawn
how often do they respawn from spot to spot?
does each spot have its own separate respawn timer (i.e. i can do a loop and get multiple bears) or do they all share the same timer if they are near eachother
ive heard they share spawn with trolls, like so many large things can be in an area only, but ive definitely had bear respawn spots where a bear spawns every single time every few days
so they will be super annoying to farm for the trophy
#screenshots message @quiet pulsar You know you put that boss out of its misery when you defeat it, so if I was him and the player was messing around in the mountains getting next tier weapons, I'd start to get a little impatient too.
all i did was sit and listen for them to aggro to the skeleton taht respawns at the dungeon and time to get try to get a trophy again
I'm on a multiplayer server, Bonemass is scheduled for tomorrow night
poor big guy
Built up the abanonded castle, made it cozy, then it became a bunker to fight that damn frost dragon. Now it's destroyed, theres nothing left but a wall, I'm goimng to call it the seething wall and every time I see it I cuss outloud 💢
Jump
Nah, they have pretty high spawn rates
More than trolls for sure
Is anybody really good at putting up basic bases?
no.
Box + roof is as basic as it can be
pretty sure the health one works out to like 1 or 2 extra health per healing tick, i think anyone would say any amount of stam regen is better
the Early Axes make a total joke of the Elder
Stamina is SO important, that that trinket is best-in-slot unless you're a late-game eitr user.
second best trinket is no trinket at all, to save you the inventory slot. Every other trinket else costs so much adrenaline that you very rarely proc them. It's a testament to how much they undertuned trinkets and how much the inventory system needs a rework.
The adremaline cost is insane for most other trinkets, I triggered the eitr regen trinket like 3 times in a fight against the last boss, and thats me spamming it non stop
This doesnt include pausing, running or dodging, just pure attack spam
Or just don't stress it. Trinkets aren't good.
Bear meat is Wolf food
I didn't know askvins ate bear meat
Oh you're right. I don't even rightly know if Wolves will eat it
Im sure they will add a bear meat dish sometime later, kinda sucks leaving it as is afterall
are the bear spawns static?
No, but there is a decent chance a bear will spawn where it did before. If the parameters for spawning were met already, it's safe to say it can happen again.
Think of it this way - most big mobs will always spawn in similar areas where you last saw them
I have like 3-4 locations near one of my starter bases where I’m practically guaranteed to find a bear if I leave the area alone for a little while
yeah is bear meat just garbage or what
I consider it mid tier Health Food
"Mid" punching above its weight class. It's tied for the worst of Black Forest health food
... Thats because it is a DF food
which, considering it is from the black forest, seems about right
Well its good for just having random food when you need it
Still needs its own recipe though
How do i get chickens, i just killed yagluth ?
you have to|| buy them at the black forest trader||
someone correct me if im wrong, but the sailors bounty seems... bad? it gives less bonus than cooked serpent meat (90 vs 93) and way less than serpent stew while also requiring raw fish
It last for an hour for one
All feast are just like that, they dont particularly excel in specific stats but are more universally spread
well the black forest feast seems pretty good when you get it as its almost as good as the sausages and its not too expensive, the sailors bounty is simply worse than its ingredients which i guess is my point
For a more balanced meal i prefer Feast - HP food - Stam food
ah wait you can craft sailors bounty after getting the prep table yeah?
Other people dont like to go out serpent hunting, fish is more easy to procure
Oh wait, nvm I remember sailors also use serpant meat
yes it takes 2 serpent meat
alright good point, nvm how did i forget feasts can be eaten 10 times 😭
Bear spawn more usually than troll (bear has rare and troll very rare spawn rate) and they can both spawn in same area.
What are you eating then ?
Onion soup for days
Jerky is a fine low quality food source as well. New playthrough im not that far
Cooking lvl is horrendous to lvl up unless your using an exploit
But honestly, it doesnt matter that much
On a side note our chef left at cooking lvl20 I think, thats non stop feeding 4 people, 5 if the chef is included
400 in game days of playthrough at that
I mean I died a lot soo
I'm day 500-ish
What do you mean 400 days and you're "not that far"
Are chefs these fragile, I swear my chef fell down the stairs and died
Yes
Thats the old playthrough, im on my third
I play light armor+main stam for dps
Oh okay
Ah our chef hated fighting and dealing with enemies so no armor no nothing
Mostly dealt with cooking and managing the storage room
Not HP HP Stam?
So just all stamina food?
It’s not a bad system if you time all your dodges right
Buuuut it’s also quite likely to get you killed 😂
More stamina = more attacking and dodging
I see, yeah Ill get bonked to death if I used that
One health two stam
And light armor
I have a friend who plays heavy armor and two hp + a feast
anyone got a bear trophy been grinding cant get one to drop
Yeah if I stand right behind him and he blocks everything with a tower shield I can dps with my atgeir
Safest method as long as he doesn't get staggered, we've killed packs of like 5 or 6 seekers like this
And with the atgeir's secondary I can stun
Now you just need a third guy with blood staff and flame and you have the perfect party for clearing hordes
I'm gonna switch to magic
And keep an atgeir for support
Our third guy plays dps also but a bit more tanky, he plays axes
Battlaxes
Yeah and our 4th plays sword and shield
Ill call it... The alchemist, mostly bombs and summon vials
Dont tell me you have a 5th thats a bow user?
Bow x Dagger and you get yourself a ranger
I've been liking the jade enhancements on the flametal weapons
the immobilizing is very nice
True, i use a jade splitnir for 1 on 1 combat and a lightning nidhogg for big groups
Primal axes and Klossen ftw.

been through so many houses and ive found only 2 curious ones so far. no mysterious. rng not with me 😭
hm. so its just RNGesus blessing me with repeat bear spawns in the same spot. literally any spot a large mob spawns it could be either? except by caves i guess
They have no fixed spawn points, except trolls near troll caves.
REALLY. then my rng is crazy from my experiences. like ive literally set up multiple permanent and permanent-ish bases next to a bear because he respawns in that spot over and over and i just hear him from my base
i swear ive been like “lets go check the bear spawn” and hes in the same spot
I have had many times bears spawning in same area too, but it's still random spawns.
welp... found my 3rd curious axe head lmao
lol what?? so THATS where everyones axe heads went, we have all your mysterious ones.
I been seeing everyone else getting the mysterious ones lmfao.
sent SS in #screenshots of the locations, very odd
I like the slayer with jade enhancement
i think a charred warrior and an askvin just did a collarboration to jumpscare me
While yes the lolite on slayer is the best for both high dmg and crowd control potential, the jades ability to immobilize dangerous targets like morgen or starred ashlands enemies gives you a ton of breathing room which in the ahslands is not that plentiful
Bloodstone needs a rework/change because the damage increase is not enough to justify lowering your hp just to be able to 2 tap instead of 3 tap an enemy
My idea for a change is I believe many already said this but make it so that it heals you after every hit/kill, another idea while still staying similar to the original is an increase in dmg after killing an enemy but only on the first swing
should i finally build an actual house instead of a scramble of stuff in the vicinity of each other
Nah cavemen ftw
any opinions on the new axe?
i found it kinda OP
cuts finewood
deals massive damage
which are some of the most important stuff early on, the drawback of finding 2 parts can be tough tho, but considering it lasts easily trough the entirety of black forest....
had the same experience!
I meaaan I play the bow
but I'm gonna play magic
as soon as I can
how does anyone accomplish anything in the ashlands with so many enemies
Choose your battles: you don't have to fight everything there.
And also let bigger mobs help clearing the smaller ones.
Destroying Haldor's bear carpet gets you a trophy
why are there 2 fallen valkyries
you’re having a standard ashlands experience lol
Any fairly new dedicated servers I can join?
ive had a morgen spawn as another morgen is spawning 10 feet away like wellp…
at least feathers are easy to collect
i wish i knew how it was, which tells me if it is slightly op it should be because it’s rare and awesome and should be exciting to get. idk how much id use them because the parry is so low bear paws are way stronger, but definitely an upgrade from flint tools til you get paws or bronze
Most likely explanation would be that you are in the Ashlands, and they can spawn in the Ashlands
is there any way to clear up lava permanently
does the ashlands ever get easier
or will i suffer equally for the entire thing
Idk how much easier they could make it given how easy it is currently?
this is called a certified tryhard
Subjective.
Some of the ashlands gear is very strong (I'd say it's mostly the magic stuff tho)
staff of wilds
Fireball until Wilds == 😴 mode.
Mage is quite unengaging
mages work from home
Mages are easy until the morgen rolls through and then you get to see how fast we run
will i immediately take damage when i touch lava or do i have a moment
Would you attempt to walk on lava IRL?
I can tell your survival skills will take you very short in life. 😬
i touched it briefly earlier and it didnt do damage
It damages more the deeper in lava you are.
it appears that theres a brief moment of no damage at least in shallow parts
nobrr, please promise me you won't go visit any active volcanos in real life. Or geysers.
i wont
"Hey how long do you think I can stand in thi-blhahagshaghaaaa!! 🔥"
i just need to reach a flametal vein
is it exp per hit or exp per attack with the staff of embers, is there any value in hitting multiple enemies or does it give the same exp?
You can practice on TWIG and get the exp
Pretty sure you can hit multiple of them and get more exp.
Estimated time for deep north?
the wiki makes it seem like its per hit and not per attack
Nobody knows
going to test on local with devcommands and let y'all know what i find i guess
Should be per swing, only time you get more xp when hitting multiple targets is when you are chopping wood and you hit enemy at the same time as far as i remember.
Which metals should I bring with me to Mistlands on the ship?
Blackmetal if there arent plains nearby 🙂
Thanks. Do I need black metal bars or ores to make the sap extractors?
then I also need to set up mini base up there to smelt and craft new extractors, it seems
You dont need to craft anything, if you bring already smelted bars then you just need workbench to place them with a hammer 🙂
I was thinking more for fireball with elemental magic
Also, someone on Reddit suggested to bring 2 iron bars for a stonecutter, so I can dismantle stone buildings.
Should still be per use of the staff i believe, but not 100% sure on that
Yep, tho there is a source of those in mistlands 🙂
Cant hurt to bring them ofc
its per attack not per hit
I haven't played for 2 years. To get the dverg extractors it's the same method as before? Slam a cart into a protected chest or something like that?
so hitting multiple targets will yield the same amount of exp as hitting one, just had to test it out myself :p but you were right asatru
I also like to test stuff myself when i can 😄 gives me peace of mind
how do artisan tables work? If I kill Moder, get tears, port back to my main base, build an artisan table. Will I be able to build a blast furnace anywhere, even far away from my base (where my artisan table is)?
Just like any other workbench
No. Anything dependent on the artisan table must be built within its radius. Fortunately, you get enough tears to make five
It has a radius you build inside of
is it bad that i only have 2 workbench upgrades in the ashlands
That was some useful info, thanks.
So, please correct me if you have any corrections or other suggestions. For my trip to Moder (a place that has some Plains and lots of Mistlands nearby) I will bring:
- all black metal scraps
- 12 iron bars (2 for stone cutter, 10 for blast furnace)
- 3 dragon eggs
- 20 wood for chest and workbench
- mats for a portal
If you are only going to kill Moder now then you dont need anything other than weapons, armor, best food you have, the eggs and a portal
All the other stuff is for when you are in istlands with progression, not mountains as you are right now
Plan: sail to Moder. Set up mini base in Plains (near her). Store all the materials there. Kill Moder, take tears, build an artisan table at my mini base at the Plains.
Then continue to kill Yagluth.
And later back to the minibase in Plains, near Moder - so I can continue my Mistlands journey
it's a but of an overlap - I want to plan this properly so i dont have to sail a long journey again - especially in regards to metals and such
@merry pebble Another reason why i want to do it this way is because right now I can't even smelt black metal, and since there are Plains nearby, there will probably be fulings. And every time I find new scrap of black metal, I want to be able to smelt it right there, so I can build new extractors, locally.
any finewood required? I guess if plains are there probably set.
please rephrase 😄 finewood can be teleported. And as I said, I will bring mats for 1 portal: surt. cores, eyes, finewood
Well, you can get finewood there in the plains. So you could just get it there, rather than port it in, etc....
oh hey Robert o/
does anyone remember which metals (raw VS smelted) can be found Mistlands? I am planning a trip and I want to make sure that I bring everything with me that can't be obtained in ML. Especially in regard to, if I want to build a forge or something like that.
In other words. I want to be self-sufficient in ML without having to sail the long journey again
copper and iron only iirc
You can get scrap iron and scrap copper from the ancient gears
And bulk of iron from the bridges
so if you're looking to make krom, bring tin
Awesome, guys - thanks! I am not planning to use a sword.
magic? if so silly things like blood bags, skeleton skulls, surtling cores, other biome things for staves
oh nvm u have portal im thinking no portal mode
Blackmetal can also be good to bring
Kind of critical, imo.
is tasty mead useful through all the game or is it eventually replaced with something better?
Useful all throughout. I think most people don't use it, but it's honestly pretty good
Something like stamina potions are gonna be better, but those have a 2 minute cooldown. Tasty meads you can keep chugging whenever you want
yeah thats why i like them, they dont compete with anything either
constant use, doesnt restrict the use of things like health pots
did the elder power get updated to add health regen and extra resources from ores as well?
for some reason i am remembering that only increasing wood chopping yields and nothing else
They went back and updated I think ALL of the boss powers
yeah thats significantly better now
Mostly buffs, so they're all more useful now (except bonemass, which got hit with a weighted bag of bricks)
before it was eikthyr power all the way until bonemass
and rarely elder power if you were doing a dedicated wood harvest occasionally
now elder power is super good
the ore harvesting boost alone is great
It's nice for resource gathering yea, helping out with mining too now
The health regen is meh imo
Wait until you see what Moder's power does
yeah health regen is whatever, but that will be great for getting extra iron
im juuust starting the swamp now so im very happy with that power
eikthyr is nice for exploring black forest since thats all running, but the swamps are a lot more sailing to accomplish their exploration i feel like
you can see a lot further in and see if there are any crypts that make it worth disembarking
if not, sail on
so if i am reading the elder power correctly, does it just increase the chop/pickaxe damage, or does it increase yields?
I always sail around to find a swamp with a bunch of crypts, a tall mountain, and a nice meadows/bf to settle down in, all close together
That way my iron and silver transportation time is so short. I usually don't even use boats or cart, just run it back to base
i do a meadows base near the sea that is easy to defend, then i dont expand until i am looking for a mistlands/plains split
before i did a separate base for meadows, swamp, and plains
too much work and not really worth it
Yeah I usually just make a shoddy shack until I find a place to settle down to start swamp
Then maybe make a plains base later
the ol shoddy shack start lol
a valheim classic
i think there is a good argument for what your idea is though ill probably start doing that as well
the issue is i cant stand a shoddy shack at any point in my playthrough so i always dedicate time to making the meadows base nice
if you ain't buildin you ain't tryin
I also like it because as I'm searching for that "perfect spot", I discover a bunch of traders, leviathans, and serpents. All of which give amazing stuff for that stage of the game
I did do one run where I made a rule for myself to only build portals inside of bases
And that caused me to build a lot of bases. Was pretty fun
my ideal meadows location is either a peninsula type thing which is easily defended and has sea access, or those cluster of 5 tall rocks that can be easily walled off
Im bout to throw gang signs at odin if I dont find a 2star asksvin
i'll throw gang signs at him with you too
but due to farming being what it is, im a big believer in the endgame base location being a mistlands/plains split
yea plains/mist is prolly mechanically the best spot
i spent a ton of time making a great stone spire base in the plains thinking that would be the final location, only to be immediately disappointed in seeing the mistlands need their own thing
hope for 3 sap roots too
Its been like 40days
after my first 2star asksvin in this world
The first one died to a damn valkyrie
i've never even seen one. Over three different worlds and despite going out at nights looking. Do they even spawn without dev commands?
only half joking on the question too
only at night time
same with 2 star bears
but yea they're giga rare
i've only seen one ever
it's definitely a plan 😄
I've encountered like 4

the question is - how many. Would 4-6 sap extractors be enough
Mistlands bases look very pretty and I love building them
But I find you don't really need a base to farm veggies. Just put up a couple stakewalls and a portal and you can farm your veggies
4-6 sounds pretty good to me
3 on main world and 1 here on my 2nd playthrough world
cool - otherwise there is Plains nearby and I will bring mats to make a blast furnace
Kinda depends if you want to lean into magic. Magic likes more sap than non-magic
i'd say 5 is the minimum if you want a good upgrade speed, 8-10 if you also want to play a mage build
Would be nice with a revamped Valheim mode where you can use low level magic from the moment that you begin
6 roots has been fine for my mage runs
6 sounds like plenty to me for a mage build
But it is quite preference based
since dvergr crates can drop soft tissue you should raid every dvergr tower that has some anyway so you'll end up with plenty of extractor parts anyway
I know my last comment was off topic - but i am kinda hungry and my mind is weird now
why is swamp dweller's delight is 35/35, so weak .. should be 50/50. It just doesn't make any sense, ladies and gentlemen
cool - what is the optimal method to raid their towers? I remember using a cart to smash their ward stone. Is there a better method now?
Because they are not meant to be better than current foods. They are a good, solid, base line upon which to build with the other foods.
I mean 35/35 is meadows and BF level, if you need sausages to make it then it should have a health of 50
Probably the best. I would say just break the crate though, not the ward (nevermind, didn't see it was for getting the soft tissue from crates)
Once you have eitr you can also drop that to make it break the crate
you can also throw refined eitr behind the ward but the cart trick still works
Could also not cheese and just fight them head on
haven't tried the blob bombs yet but an oozer or two should clear out any tower without starred mages too
if there are starred mages THEY will clear out the ward trying to kill it
You can kite a gjall to hit the extractor too if it’s a non basement extractor
Their fire mages are the best way to destroy their own towers.
the swamp is so fkin gross i love it
all the environment vibes in this game are just great
The queen fight gotta be my #1 favourite fight
it's a very strange method - i wonder if it was intended by the devs or if they expected you to raid the tower in a different way
hoe is your friend in the swamp 😄 and some standing torches
once i find one worth terraforming, definitely
i meant - to create paths where you don't swim - where the leeches cant bite you
yeah i know
and just so you can run faster, use carts, etc
Pretty sure they expect you to fight the dvergr
Or possibly bring monsters over to fight them
for now its faster to just do things by foot unless i find a really big biome that has a lot of stuff worth doing that
if its just one or two crypts, i can walk or jump
I got surprised by the amount of iron i got just from 3 crypts. When i played the game a few years ago it seemed like I had to raid 5 or more crypts for that amount of iron
thats one of my favorite parts of the game, slowly pulling a heavy cart down a spooky path looking for the next torch marking the way
hehe ye it's awesome - especially scary if it's night and ghost is chasing you
mostly what i look for in a swamp biome that makes it worth setting up shop in, is a lot of thistle, spawners, and gas geysers in the same area
so i can farm enemies and coal easily
With good RNG you can get as much as about 120 iron in a crypt. Always could.
You're probably faster just using Eikthyr and troll mead and doing 2-3 runs than flattening a workable cart path you'll only ever use once
when everything just slowwwly starts to glow blue....
my only prob with swamps is that crypts are extremely boring - i wish it was a bit more of a challenge down there and less of digging and searching generic rooms
looks like they didnt test this enough 😄
They only get boring once you figure out how to deal with everything with the least amount of risk.
Or once you're past the swamp but still need tons of iron anyway
poison mead, campfire in the crypt and stagbreaker = easy and zzZZZzz
Yeah, still, you have low risk.
If I could redesign the crypts i would make some of them go even deeper, maybe having some special monsters that drop loads of iron (in the basement)
copper at least you can just pop an entire node with the trollstav so it's easy to farm at endgame. Black metal gets delivered to your front door every night after you beat Yag.
Just iron remains a slog.
I never cart metals, I always just setup a portal and do quick runs.
i cart silver. The others i run.
Yeah, I tried carting metals, but just portaling back and running the metals to a boat was just faster than all the effort needed to make the cart work.
Perhaps. I think players are always gonna find ways to exploit game mechanics to bypass developers wishes
Personally I play with a lot of self-imposed rules to avoid overly cheesy/exploitative behavior taking away the fun. But that's up to preference, some people find games more fun with exploits
troll potions, ratatosk, eikthyr, moder all easier systems for me.
I always have 100 run & jump by the time i reach plains too 😂
I might still cart silver, buts its been a long time since I found a cart more sensible than just running it to a boat, or straight to my base, since I often have a nice mountain next to my base.
I never do 😭
One time I had 100 spear tho
I like keeping the dvergr alive and build them replacement towers (out of grausten since i have more than enough lol).
silver is one of the other strange ones you might just huck it off the mountain
i use a cart for silver usually
I have not had a 100 run or jump by plains since Mistlands was added. 😄 Guess I progress too fast now a days.
yeet it off the side of the mountain
I like taking my time and exploring and building on the side. Sometimes i might spend entire days just building out a random portal outpost for the fun of it.
The side of my mountain going down to my base in my current run, is mild enough to just run back and forth.
like seriously, troll cave portal #15 does not need a full glass front and ashwood porch, but it is what it is 😂
I do FAR less building now a days, compared to how much I used to do. So definitely a factor.
way too many portals lol
i usually do one for each biome in an area where their specific resources are dense, and if i can combo that with the trader even better
mark all the resource nodes on the map, and do a loop every now and then if i need those
I easily have 30+ portals by the end of Ashlands. I explore a lot, and leave at least one portal on every large island.
saves space in the final base portal room too
path of least resistance
otherwise it's masochism 😄
My own rule is: play on normal as it was intended, don't use cheats like duping items, etc.
If there is an exploit then I will 100% use it - not necessarily because I agree with it being there.
If a shop keeper accidentally gives me too much money back, I won't go back in there and tell them "hey, here is some of* your money back". That's on them. But that's just my opinion
i make a portal at pretty much every troll cave i come across just because it's so easy. Same for infested mines and putrid holes.
And having more backup portals all over the map has turned out useful more than once
I do tend to have more portals in Mistlands, due to extractor locations and the fact that the mines regen every 4 hours.
In Ashlands most of my portals are just in Citadels. I might have 2 or 3 in other locations.
A quick question about Enshrouded. Are building mechanics there anything like in Valheim, at all? Smoke ventilation, stability, etc. Or is it much more primitive?
I think its actually more advanced. Far more options, far better gardens, and so on.
I meant - realism and stuff. Not just building for the looks but because it has to function in a certain way to prevent disaster
Well, you build in rather safe zones in the first place.
yea i do the exact same thing, i haven't played in months but i could never port metals, so i dont do it.
I know Subnautica has something called hull integrity, but it's too simplified imo. So I am looking for more games where you really have to think, before you build. Where things have to make sense, logically. Not like in Minecraft where you can build a huge castle on top of a 1 km long stick
The hull integrity in subnautica is too simple imo
That said, my kids built some seriously impressive cities in Minecraft. Without mods.
and im aware I can turn that feature off somehow but sticking with that og stuff is important I think, just generally it makes life more fun. You have to be more creative and you end up exploring more if you have limitations like that.
yeah - it's basically:
window = unstable
no window = stable
no window and more stuff on the wall = even stabler
not much room for creativity and logic 😄 its kinda predetermined for you
I stay away from such games. I was a submariner for 10 years, so long ago I found under water games to be too... unrealistic, for me.
i like those 'bridge builder' games. i like building in valheim, but theres some troll physics going on.
same - if I could port metals, my experience would be too lame, simple and boring. It's like cutting off a half of Valheim's experience
try without portals entirely 😄
if you are ok with exploits, you can manipulate where your character spawns by using another world...
(i dont do that, but in theory, its there.)
i would if the reward was great enough and if game had sufficiently with mechanics to support that kind of play
then i would even play with no map
Yea exactly
I am looking forward to trying out that new LotR's survival style game. Bought it months ago, but I need to stop spending all my spare time playing Valheim to try it out. 😄
I wish WoW Classic had Valheim-like survival mode gameplay
I quit playing WoW 15+ years ago. I do not miss it.
Where you could build some things in certain areas, make campfires that gave meaningful buffs and where food and drink mattered more than simply replenishing your hp/mana bar
My eldest son guilted my wife into our playing WoW with him again, starting next month, when a new expansion is coming out. I guess I might last a week. 😄
I dont know you but i'm begging you, for all thats holy, don't go back to wow. I survived quitting and i'm never going back.
"I wish we haven't called it Warcraft" <-- have you heard that one? 😄
I am not going back willingly. Like I said, my wife was guilted into it, so I am being dragged back in, pretty much kicking and screaming.
its a dopamine slot machine endless life sucking loop of shame, dishonesty, and regret
going back is going back, good luck soldier
sounds like my ex-wife
Think I spent like 3 hours or so in WoW
the only thing about WoW that is still worth it, is playing old vanilla / classic. And maybe even in hardcore mode, where you only have 1 life
We did play it for years as a family, so I get it. I dread playing it again, even with its "improvements". I still expect to hate it.
But then again, I always played solo in WoW classic / vanilla - that is why it was kind of like a survival game for me. No guilds to carry me. No raids to give me best gear. Just me in my shabby clothes trying to survive the murlocs
Thats how I was playing it towards the end. I still quit.
was there some kind of update recently that added stuff you need to reset your world for?
like axes or something
Sometimes you help someone out in the world. Or they help you. And it's awesome - no strings attached.
Only if you have no meadows to explore. They are not so important as to do a new world for. IMO, of course.
Like I could probably find enough meadows in which to find those axes in, but I can also just wait until I do another play through. So I'll wait. But if your not like me, and play Valheim again and again and again, it is likely worth it to you to start a new world over them.
one of the training weapons i think?
Just the spawners, vegvisers, some times chests.
do the training weapons do anything
Just allow you to train without beating TWIG up too much.
do almost no damage and cost little stamina? Not really, they're basically for beating on training dummies with
does TWIG have health or something
Sometimes a wraith will spawn in the wooden huts
Yeah, it takes a lot to destroy TWIG. Its just impossible to do with those training weapons.
once you get blood magic to ~80 two skellies do enough dps to destroy one over time
a player in mistland or ashland gear might do it in one combo
Skellies on vhard would proba destroy it pretty quick
I was thinking, you could probably train on TWIG with meadows level weapons, and not destroy it. Probably. I mean, I can shoot it with an Arbalast and not destroy TWIG.
Thats a Mistlands tier weapon.
well yeah because you take 3 seconds to reload between shots
I think it smore like 5, but yeah, it helps to allow TWIG to regen.
Mistwalker or Krom shred it like any other mob
meadows weapons should be fine though so the training ones really aren't necessary, they're mostly a collectible
and the sword is the only one you can upgrade so the others break way too fast
They last long enough. At least while your skill is below 40. You can only upgrade the sword to lvl 2, so not that much of an increase.
Besides, if your going to do a proper training area, your going to have a workbench right there to take a second to repair, anyways.
thats why I assumed the training weapons were wood. quick and easy repair and your primary weapon doesn't get worn down in case a raid happens or whatever.
you gotta have a pretty wild base to not be able to repair your primary weapon in the event of a raid
maybe they are wood so they could be provided without any balance issues?
yeah i think its more immersive to practice with wooden weapons
I've gotten 2 valkyrie trophies but yet to have encountered a 2** asksvin
You goin' during night?
i must've spend 40-50 nights looking by now. Sometimes the RNG just hates you.
I couldn't find a 2** asksvin when I was in the mood to hunt
Been going out at night ever since I defeated fader lol
if I want a chunk of Plains to be free of goblins and mosquittos, does placing workbenches help (to prevent them from respawning)?
Yes, as long as there are no gaps in your spawnproofing.
awesome - any tips on how to do that? Or just the normal, manual, watch the radius way?
use the workbench to view the radius. I like to put vertical posts at the edge of each zone. Set up your benches to overlap the edges and when you're sure you're covered, switch to campfires (less likely to be destroyed and they don't need to be lit to work for spawnproofing)
would you mind making a super simple mspaint sketch to show what you mean?
@thorn citrus regarding #screenshots - can you turn the giant skylight on plz? I want to appreciate your build!
I really hoped I'd have more luck with the new axe than I had with the bear trophy.. 1 axe head vs 21 bee hives so far
dont fireplaces (even unlit) also do the same thing?
When is the ps5 release
When it is ready.
Fair enough
Worse luck would be 21 of the same axehead and 1 beehive 😭
True 😂
21 beehives 1 axehead does sound pretty rough tho
Yeah, no more meadows to explore without the karve. On the plus side I've got beehives and found haldor
pretty sure you could have a seed without house 6?
I found a few, most without a chest and those with a chest without axe head
if you don't mind looking in a new world you could try D477LggZtV
got two pairs in under an hour just running around the starting island on that one
Thanks, but I'm good, I'll get them eventually 😊
I feel like I got them in well under an hour on Asv6nMJd2k
what is the giant skylight ?
The sun?
you mean the sun
oh
it's night time currently
so I can't, but I'll take another screenshot when the sun will rise
💛
I mean I could cheat but I don't wanna even for sunlight
cuz it's my vanilla survival playthrough with some friends
really? unlit fireplaces prevent respawns?
Am I high, or do Sea Serpents despawn the moment they are released from your harpoon if the sun goes up??
I was fishing for sepent meat, and the bugger just disappeared.
I mean night spawn serpents do despawn on daybreak
Either funny timing or harpoon stops it from despawning at daybreak until it's no longer tethered
a bit hard to tell what is a day serpent and a night serpent.
do you want screenshots from the sky ? I can maybe cheat just a bit and use freefly only for a few screenshots
I was mainly trying to find a positive way to say "Why would you ever take screenshots in complete darkness" 😬
We tried transporting an asksvin for 7 hours before finally getting it home
True. Look to see if it's storming though. Serpents only spawn from storms or night
Ah, so if the storm stops or the night ends, then that's a que for the serpent to go home.
Storm serpents stick around forever until killed
Night serpents despawn when it turns day
That feels unsatisfying... I was literally at the shore...
If it's night AND storming, impossible to know what type of serpent it is
it would be nicer if spawed serpents only despawn one you are out of range of them...
oh
I mean it was only to show the how high the tower was
While fair, I genuinely cannot see anything in that screenshot due to darkness 😭
and I forgot to post my only finished room wich is my forge
I didn't think anything spawned out of range...
Which lead us to playing Valheim for 11 hours straight
I meant despawn. typo. 😭
yeah and you can bury them so you can block off a large area and it looks like regular ground
use the crafting mench to see their radius to make sure they all overlap
ki was fighting a troll, and i realized... valheim is a rythym game and a job sim at the same time!
am I supposed to grind copper so much, fighting off tree trunks every 4 swings?
You can build a stakewall around the node to keep things out.
Also you can skip copper to go kill Elder, than use his power to drastically speed up copper collection.
Campfire also helps keeping regular greydwarves away.
🤙

blue eyed ones?
they still throw rocks
and I am in a weird place where there's either troll or bear ever so often
Shamans and brutes are not afraid tho.
so last couple days where just me trying to dig copper non-stop
Bears also avoid fire.
Walls.
I am not going to bother building anything around copper deposit unless the grind is the way and there's nothing else to do
Is there spawner nearby btw?
no
"People keep attacking me and I refuse to build walls."
-Support ticket elevated to "Self-inflicted issue."
they just spawn really often
yea, that's just kinda a feature of the black forest
not talking about my home. though little ones are rather annoying too
Never even mentioned your home. This has been about copper the entire time.
Usually few campfires have done the trick for me, and when I dig deeper underground the enemies cannot reach me.
👀 deeper?!.
80% of most copper is underground.
The node is mostly underground.
so, they are not going to remove walls with a couple of swings?
how much of it is beneath dirt unconnected?
They won't even attack them mostly, because if they cannot see you, they just wander around with the yellow "looking" status.
See above.
Nodes are like 6-8m tall iirc.
Usually you might need to dig until the 8m cap to reach the bottom of the node.
huh, then what makes some of them go through the trouble of swimming to get to my home?..
good to know. had no idea, even though I did do some digs around to see any missed bits
Greylings are a plague and why Meadows is the worst biome to build in.
Probably lots of "missed bits" now.
no meadows no neck pond
if after you are done with the copper node it doesn't look like a giant crater, then there is tons of copper left
welp, too late
so sharpened stackes are just a waste?
😭 We are talking about copper and walls.
And you're brought up your house and now sharpened stakes.
Why can we not just talk about copper and walls? 😭
i actually started playing with stakes after not using them for a long time, i think they’re actually hilarious and strong in some situations. even good for deer hunting XD i just fought off my first “forest is moving” with them it was very effective
it's a done topic
copper deposits are large,
which means that one should make a cart and build fences around so not to be seen and disturbed during intimate process of up and down motions of the tool
I wouldn't make a cart or build a fence. Just dig down and enjoy life in your copper mine. plop down a campfire for quicker recovery and even resting opportunity. plop down a workbench. nothing will bother you once you get your mine sufficiently deep
imo if you’re comfortable around trolls, the fastest method is unarmed trolls because their down smash hits all the way down underground the deposit, you can mine a node in a few minutes
Mining with Elder is faster than trolls.
fight me
You would lose in this particular instance.
hahaha, but serious how fast would you say you can mine a node? including digging it out? i have a video of mining 2 nodes and rested buff timing it i can check it
I can come and help you while you mine if you like
never used a troll to do a whole one before, usually just enough to get some early copper quickly
Also hello everyone I am new to server not new to Valheim though
Sick of playing alone hahahah
Have never timed. But Elder is extremely noticeable in terms of how many fewer hits you need per node.
Ah yeah cool
Thanks
it is, i like it for mining iron. but imean like trolls man, you dont even need to dig the thing out.
My last world I didn't even dig them out, because I just found so much copper that I picked off the above ground layer and moved on.
hehe, thats fair too yeah if you’re solo. multiplayer that was like eating the tops off all the muffins
usually I mine up the one closest to my base, I'm not sure why I'd want to give up on it to travel further?
i found the clip in memes and clips, it was apparently 9 minutes to get 101 copper
finally found my first mysterious and can now craft the axes.
very little, not worth the work imo
Guys where can I found the mountains, I already killed bonemass
Anywhere.
id sail out to sea and find them from a distance, pick one nice and tall and long
You can spot them better from the sea when you are sailing, if you are close to an island that has a mountain.
They are usually in the middle of any decent sized "island".
If you didn't explore the starter island entirely, there's the possibility that you will have a mountain or mountains in your starter island as well.
I recommend looking for a big mountain, for more resources.
Those are usually tiny and all but useless, but you could get lucky and get a rather big one.
I mean, it really depends on the seed. I've played in a few seeds with big mountains near the spawn. One of my main characters even had the mountain boss there.
Just across the place where I had my base.
Yep, you can get lucky. Like my previous starter had a big one.
I see, thank you really much guys
I hope that bronze pickaxe isn't a player trap and is actually better... though it feels about the same - grind
it lasts longer and mines faster. but it has to be repaired at a forge.
i make it sometimes when i have lots of copper to spare, yeah nathans right its nice cuz if u upgrade it especially it lasts longer, otherwise u got 3 stupid picks. just gotta bring coal and 6 copper around when you mine iron later
If you make a simple covered work bench at your mining site, you don't have to go any where for repairs. Make a covered fire and you can easily keep the Rested status going. I don't really want the bronze pick until I am going into the swamps.
For clarity, I am fine with getting it sooner, just the pick axe is the last bronze item I worry about crafting.
now that Early Axes exist and there isn't a need to craft the Bronze axe, i go for the copper pickaxe first, frees up a slot from not having to carry 2 antler pickaxes and it does make the mining go faster
Just had my first Horde raid
Lok'tar!
I love these little guys for bringing me a nice little free delivery of black metal
😌
Is the new Celebration content, like the new cap and decorative lights etc, going to stay permanently or is it temporary like the seasonal decorations?
I believe its permanent
But could be the other way around since we are celebrating Valheim's early access
It's permanent. 👍
But im 100% sure it'll stay

Theres your answer
I don't quite understand how the windmill work (or doesn't work) with regards to the wind
Stronger wind --> spins faster --> more barley processed
the surroundings is also a factor (not sure how important)
but generally you want them in a semi open area
How do I know the wind's strength
if you want to exactly know the winds strength it's a lil more complicated but generally you can just look at the weather, and also the little wind particles you can observe that move around ya
for eg. thunderstorm in meadows generally has pretty intense winds, which makes ur windmill go brrrr
One thing I hate about this is that its based on the players location, not the location of the windmill
wdym by this?, well I like making multi purpose base in the plains and mistlands
generally i just build 4 windmills and i never have to worry about wind
But if I go to the mistlands side of the my base, the wind will drastically reduce or sometime dont even bother gushing wind at all
You see what I mean?
ye
yea i flex my iron nails between windmills and spinning wheels
surely the windmills are just running on whatever your windspeed was when you left the area?
or when you reenter? i actually have never figured this out
Yep so its best to make a portal back to base that is in the plains biome part
Not the mistlands
lmao nice
I like making bases boarding a plains and mistlands biome
It centralizes my farming
Plus 9 roots... juicy

damn most i've seen togethr is about 6
To be fair I havent comnected the other 6
Mostly been using the 3 at my base perimeter
im usually in a large enough group that we'll stake out a whole sap run with multiple portal stops
yea 6 is my pb too
hell yeah 3 is certainly plenty
in 1 area
If you can get a mistless mistlands with around 3-6 roots and a plains biome boarding it
Oh my friend you just found sanctuary itself
hmmm....I haven't peeked under the hood in a long time 🤔
Haven't played in a while?
I'm playing currently with a casual leisure group, just finally defeated Bonemass after 1 month
taking our sweet time 😉
In my original world I had 4 that is safely in my perimeter wall
sweeto neeto, honestly playing valheim with a group or with friendsis a luxury
Its a lot more different than playing solo
even after all these update, iron beam is still the best in term of support decay rate
I've seen mention of a Flametal version. Iron is still better than that?
It can be a bit annoying to use them plus they are a bit larger than iron beams
So they stick out like a beacon lol
Indeed they look ugly with most builds unless your making a modern highrise building
Is it even worth using anything else than the Mistwalker for the Ashlands? The enemies seem to just not care about physical damage at all
Well, does this include ashland Items
I see the crafting recipes but it's all just physical damage
Ahh I see, go raid a fortress or two, you'll understand
Demolisher is effective at giving you breathing room.
The silver sword has the best DPS vs certain Ashlands mobs.
Spinesnap is worth it if you use bows much.
Himminafl is a good alternative aswell, especially against morgen its weak to lighting and if decent atgeir level could stagger them
Hide them inside grausten pillars.
IF you're using grausten
I've heard that, but not something I use myself. I do well with them with Mistwalker and my BM Tower Shield. To the point where I consider them easy to deal with.
Can give good accent pillars against black marble construction, while hiding both iron beams and flametal.
Full-on graust walls are a no from me though.
That does sound like an intriguing combo.
I like mixing both grausten and stone
Stone good.
Black marble amazing.
Slight graust accents for the contrast.
Rest wood.
Thats too much white for me. I like mix and match approaches to break up the solid colors.
Stone is usually my floor material to contrast with darker furniture and the black marble walls.
And it just looks the smoothest for floors imo.
I can handle solid stone or marble as floors because of how much we have to break up that monotony.
You'll never see me just do solid white or black or gausten walls. I have to break that up with off setting accents.
The only mini boss that doesnt have a raid is lord reto
Which is understandable honestly, imagine a raid were an enemy can spawn that has the ability to 1 tap you lol
A lot of them can one tap me if they catch me at 25 HP.
Ask me how many times I've gone out to fight, forgetting I have not eaten in a very long time?
Fortunately I almost always realize it before its too late. At least I always respawn close by.
The one thing about feast is that you only have 25ms of good stats
And if you dont have extra food, goodluck lol
I purely run FFE
mistland and ashland feast combo'd with marinated greens
I usually only use one feast as a base, then max out whichever I want to max out with the other two foods.
The late-game feast are borderline broken imo
you have access to both a decent chunk of hp and stamina AND a bit of eitr
I've only made up to Mistlands.
Another playthrough?
I do many play throughs, but so far I have only beaten Fader once.
I am in Mistlands in my current game.
My first one I quit for a while during iron age
my 2nd I beaten fader
and this 3rd same aswell
With over 5300 hours, I've lost count.
I've only gone into Ashlands 3 times, and beaten Fader only once. So that much I remember.
I swear to odin 2* asksvin are ever rarer than a 2* wolf
I've seen them, at least. But they are definitely rare. Seen a lot more 1 stars.
I cleared like a giant area of ashlands so I can just circle around it so new asksvins spawn
Unfortunately I hate Ashlands. So I just beat Fader and stop.
I swear when im hunting for them they dont spawn, but when im not actively hunting them THEN THEY SPAWN

When I am out and about thats all I do is kill them. Even the 2 stars. I'm not even interested in breeding them, because of how much I don't like the biome.
Asksvin is the most annoying thing in that biome.
The Fallen top my list, but they are annoying, for sure.
The Morgen irritate me most when they get too close to something I have built.
I have no trouble dealing with the melee's but the range omg they make me go insane
ESPECIALLY THE DAMN TWITCHER
To me, the Valk feels more eventful whereas Asksvin just tank hits and knock me arround. Btw I don't know how I'm going to do that in this no-bow run.
I hate how prone to just running away they are.
I swear the charred clan are just cowardly bastards
They get hit once they DIP
and return to harass you again
They do all tend to run away if you don't destroy them quickly.
Dont you just love it when your close enough to a spawner that they aggro you but far enough to break the mob cap of the spawner?
I was chilling in a hole and when I went up an army of twitchers was waiting for me
I learned a long time ago to never chill in a hole in Valheim. Thats begging to get killed. 😄 😄
The AI is really rage baiting us lol
Minecraft habits die hard
I specfically hate the twitcher more than other mobs in the game
Actualy its my most hated
mob
The Twitcher is clearly deigned to make us.... twitch.
You can throw at me 2 fallen valkyries and I'll be fine but throw in a fast moving, cowardly, ranged enemy
How about 10 fast moving cowardly enemies
Then we have problem

How about Asksvin playing viking volleyball?
I use Tower Shields, so they do the bouncing.
I've had some occasions of it throwing me into the lava but not as annoying since I use jump mead with feather cape
Viking + blood shield = ball
Ah, I don't do magic but I shall use the new meads in Ashlands, I haven't been to the biome after the Bog Witch update.
I don't do magic either. Its kind of fun to play around with, but I couldn't get into fighting with it. I am much better with melee.
I do appreciate how Ashlands is conquer-able, you can complete the entire island. It's a little more difficult for the other biomes as they're more spread out in the world.
The only time I ever used a tower shield is capturing a 2* asksvin
Its all I use, since I don't parry or dodge roll.
Klossen
Frostner has consistent slow down but klossen can immobilize
Whats Klossen? Flametal?
Oh, thats what I used, with lightning.
I have more jade and bloodstone than lolite
I had a bunch of iolite, so my wife and I both went with it.
I've been really liking the jade
Think we used that on the bows.
I have it on my slayer, mace, and crossbow
Jade is my preferred on the mace. If it knocks enemies back and roots them, I can go with a faster weapon and get more damage off.
I killed fast enough with the lightning mace.
Of course my skill was pretty high. That helps. A lot.
so I decided to go sailing
it's a long trip...
third night
if I were to straighten out the route it probably ould reach the edge
was fairing through the foggy ocean following the wind
then, I saw ridged branches of tall trees...
next - green glow of the stone
and some skeletons with big anime swords
what awaits me there?..
oh lol
I see green eyes looking at me from the bottom of the sea..
You seen that weird boat in the ocean, on the floor?
I am sorry, how in the valheim he shoot me through the water?
as in, from the seafloor
Undead don't care about water.
wasn't looking beneath aside from some rocks
Skeletons, etc... will shoot you from under the water. Others can all attack while swimming.
that's swamp, right? map was telling me it's drk forest for some reason, then swamp popped or a moment and back to black forest though the scenery didn't change... smells liek a bug
That is swamp.
Must be a small area
The map is very... inconsistent when it comes to being on the water.
Ocean, plains, but you see no plains, black forest, but you see no forest, swamp, but you only have undead running around in the water, because its shallow enough, and so on...
Or my favorite, a Surtling Geyser, but you see no Surtlings, despite hearing them dying.
Of course the flame is barely breaking the surface, so deep enough, obviously.
it's quite big
Finally decided face Eikthyr after getting root set armor level 1. Bronze spear and buckler level 3, with Tonic of Ratatosk drank. At that point i was the boss summoning the sacrifice.
Overprepared lol
Let me guess you skipped the antler pickaxe and used a troll
ok now I want to revisit sea of thieves after doing this ship journey through stormy ocean
Yep and just ended up going to the swamp and farming Abominations.
isn't that deer even easier then bear?
Oh Eikthyr is super easy all you really need is a cooked meat and a couple of stamina boosts with fruit mushroom or honey. I just jumped ahead before facing the boss. Bear is much harder.
Believe a crude bow and wooden arrows is all that is needed
spear.
anyone know if Irongate is developing any other games?
Seen wooden spear but no idea how to make one. Found one in a chest
you WHAT now? 💀
Flint spear
adiawudawdaw 😭
No an actual wooden one let me see if i can locate it give me a second.
I located it. Can't share photos Darn. But yep its right here in my inventory
All the wooden weapons are only obtainable via searching for them in POIs in different biomes
Exception is wooden sword
and axe I believe
The new graphics are nice but damn I had to turn off the bloom. I was in the plains and was damn near blinded . I think it's way too strong
Pretty sure we can only craft the sword, unless you mean the newly added axes. I have not found either of those. The sword we can upgrade to lvl 2.
as far as I've peeked, the iron beam still has the best decremental decay, granted it is now no longer the top of max support value
might have to do some test builds later when we finally progress to where I can actually grab some better material
Alrighty we found a 2* asksvin
If you have been looking this entire time, thats a lot of time.
I stayed up all night lol
So thats a good chunk of time
I did sleep yes
Hey are bears tamable now ? did they shadow dropped it out of nowhere ? (with honey) there's no mod in the server 100% sure and we're on the vanilla branch
Bears eat blueberries but cannot be tamed
and honey ?
if you haven't tried right now don't answer because your knowledge might be outdated (respectfully)
Not tamable Vanilla
i dont know the answer, but i suspect that they can be distracted with some food, but not tamed.
does it say its being tamed? with a %
maybe you could try in a solo world
i never tried another method than hitting those bears in the face with an axe...
you may be right, i would not know.
Hey everyone, I am close to taking on the Queen for the first time, would anyone have any advice on strategy for her or best weapons to use etc?
hey everyone, im looking for advice that what is the best weapon/ armor set to go to swamp?
I think I went with full bronze armour, but take poison resist potions with you if you can
Troll is fine. Get a bronze shield and mace or spear and axe. Just watch out for 2* archers
almost any weapon choice is viable, except for pierce, even tho i did it with Mistland's atgeir and was no optimal but fun. my safest queen fight was full mage, also the one that required less dodge timing skill.. for safety in general lightfoot and ratatosk help a lot
Melee is quite hard against the queen but doable
ooze bombs or bile bombs are a good way to deal with the adds. The bile bombs do a number on the queen too and cost very little stam to use.
Other than that keep in mind that you're basically untouchable while floating with the feather cape so kiting her up the stairs then jumping down to regen hp/stam is very useful.
my last fight with the queen, i used the frostner and fought her in the middle of the room.
it worked, but its probably the most difficult method to fight her
yeh it took some deaths to learn the timing of attacs, we don't have a queen t.w.i.g yet
i mean before they nerfed Bonemass you could just facetank her in carapace armor without even needing to block
just run in, spam attack, win in under 5 minutes
i prob should have used bonemass , but no portal/no map means i need to sail for an hour to change it..
lol yeah that's a valid reason not to
i used my patchwork light armor, not the carapace. that was probably another mistake on my part.
(root harnesk, vile leggings and carapace helmet)
but yeah her damage is pretty managable as long as you bring poison resist and some healing meads
and heavy armor
though as a mage it's easier since you basically just run up the stairs while throwing fireballs, regen eitr while floating down, repeat until death
Thank you all for the advice
don't think she even got an attack off last time i killed her like that
also bring mats for wisplights
wisp torches i mean
fights much easier if you can see 😁
oh, just noticed the emote wheel has options, looks a lot cooler small on the side
the stomp of Elder has no right to be
a) this wide aeo
b) this much dmg
When will the update be?
are you using the best food for the biome vs the elder? i dont remember it being that bad.
60 blunt, same damage as a log troll
so not that bad unless you take it unblocked because you thought you were out of range 😅
I just got stomped for 40hp
my armour is still leather though
it's more about the fact that nothing warned be that this will be a huge aeo and not just local stomp
Sadly we dont know, so the classic answer "when it is ready" 😄
Theres your problem xd
it's a big boi. can stomp far and wide.
leather armor
if you don't use the best food, armor and weapon the biome has to offer, the boss will be challenging.
after a few playthrough, you can get away with less, but not on the 1st one.
in bf, i think the best food is deer stew, bear meat and carrot soup?
the troll armor is great. and i'm 100% sure you can parry (not stagger tho) the elder stomp with a bronze buckler.
i would probably not bother crafting a bronze sword anymore, and just use the bronze axe, but those would be my 2 weapons of choice if i wanted to fight the elder in melee range
don't have that in me to grind for bronze
troll and bear armor need no bronze
don;t know such things
two pieces of bear armor and one piece of troll armor will be the best protection you can get without spending any bronze. having three pieces of bear armor triggers a set bonus with percentage-based modifiers to increase damage taken
Spoiler alert, it's one of the smaller grinds in the game. 😄
I consider it one of the bigger ones actually, since you need to farm two types of ore and smelt 3x the amount for one ingot
just reached ashlands my bros
are you alive?
yeah
Most bronze items don't need as many bars because of this. Arrows are more expensive though, one bronze bar should craft 60.
even 50 would be ok
wait there are arrows between flint and obsidian?
that people actually use i mean
because i don't think i've ever crafted a metal arrow besides silver (and those sucked)
Yes, people do things that you don't all the time. 😮
stressful , was running around to find a safe place for my portal
wood arrows 👍
I craft a few iron arrows so I have a full stack for the first mountain trip but otherwise I don't use any
aside from that if your into decorating bronze nails is a supply to grind for
once you're at endgame farming copper is easy
since drakes are the first enemy I actually want to use a bow for I have very low bow skill going into mountains
Farming copper is easy at any point with my big troll friend helping me. 😄
fire arrows works good enough for drakes
fair enough, though i'd think you'd find enough iron and poison arrows in swamp crypts to last you for that?
yes, I only do this if I didnt find 100 arrows
so I'm never spending more than 5 metal on arrows across an entire playthrough
trolls are okay but a direct hit from the trollstav or a lava blob bomb blows up the entire deposit in one shot. Including most of the underground bits.
well thats one thing the arbelest is good at, bone arrows be cheap and hit decently
I'm not arguing that it isn't easy later, just that it's still easy early.
still hoping they add arbelest as a swanp tier weapon instead of mistlands, it just makes sense, bones and Iron are in the swamp
fair enough
Was there any comment/explanation from devs about strong deviation from viking/norse setting after swamps? By this I mean technology, building materials and armor/weapons that leans strongly into high fantasy direction?
Skol & Hati is fun against the Queen and surprisingly effective despite the pierce damage.
aah, right, didn't go that far with daggers (best i can do is blackmetal atm) but sounds fun! (converted dagger and bows char to fists as Call to Arms dropped)
you mean I can use workbench to see the radius which will apply to the fireplace from that spot?
Does linen cape give any actual set bonus to the padded armor?
No, it's mainly cosmetic as you can choose color for it.
cool, thanks - so there is no "real" cloak that goes with the padded armor? I mean kinda like with troll armor where you get sneaky bonus
I guess I just keep my wolf cloak on since it will protect me from cold in the mountains
Troll cape is the only one with a set bonus
So will Lox cape
Mistland and Ashland capes all have special bonuses
Deep North 🤤
DN "cloak" is just those waterproof parkas made of seal intestines. 🦭
Caribou would be more traditional but you do you
so if there are seals, that means there will be baby seals?
is there a way to raise ground with hoe without needing a workbench closeby?
Not really, you can sometimes use the level ground function, but that cant raise it much
haven't played in a long time. Is the Flint Axe better than the club in practice?
for combat I mean
There is no attack pattern changes for 1h axes and clubs.
But there is now new dual axe weapon which you can locate its axe heads for around Meadows wooden buildings.
so the Flint Axe is just straigh better then. Thanks!
Club is gonna be better against skeletons, but otherwise they’re both just fine at most fights
Flint axe is gonna be better imo in tight quarters like in burial chamber hallways, because it’s secondary attack won’t split damage with the walls
The new sweetbread looks like an adorable cupcake, I love it.
Its ID is indeed VikingCupcake
for some reason I continuously keep pulling out my weapon with no shield equipped. How do I make this permanent to have 1h always with the shield? Do I need to put the shield on the hotbar as well?
Easiest is indeed to have it in the hotbar 🙂 its a standalone item so you need to equip it the same way as a weapon
It's great hat for Rocky.
I see, thought there might be a way to do it without "wasting" a hotbar slot.
We just did that with our Rocky a few minutes ago :^)
skol moment
Not without mods afaik
I was just about to type smth about that, so here goes:
You can equip sword. Then equip shield. Then press r to put them away. Pressing r again will pull both out
Otherwise have them in your hot bar yea
If its about mods then it would probably be better to go to #mods-discussion 😄
my raid got bugged lol
raided by nothing but air
can I remap the hotkeys for 1-9 with bepin itself or would I need a designated hotbar mod? I know this is maybe outta place here, but I'm not going to deep dive into modding.
to sum up, I spent 3-4 days digging one copper depositm, I got about 4 stacks from it, which is only 2 stacks of bronze, which is ... 6 different items without upgrades... RoI is kinda grindy
found a 2 star boar just on the other side of the water, near my base - any tips on how to transport it over water?
