yeah, I used backup portals, it's teh only way I made it there.
Is there a trick to get a lox onto a ship or into a portal? I tamed one at my plains base, problem is I have no way to move it back to my main base?
Tamed animals cant go through portal
You can take a lox onto a longship but be weary as it can destroy the boat as you travel
Tbh its not worth it taking a lox to the mistlands because the terrain is very mountainous
You can fit up to 2 lox
Onto a longship
But hauling them is the big issue
it won't capsize the ship on high seas?
watching a lox drown might be pretty funny though
Boats dont care about entities on boats
You can have as many lox stacked on top of each other and it wont capsize
But a small wooden cart full of mineral goodies can capsize it
Well rather slow it down
that's horrible
They have stamina and won't drown unless you drain their stamina via riding
naw, for me that would be a nelson "haha" moment
Then they will drown
Simply put, its not worth taking them via boat
Its best to just find a nearby plains biome and tame another one there and breed them
You'll mostly be walking via foot in the mistlands and climbing up the rocks
the plains continent borders the continent my main base is on by a short distance, maybe I could make an earthen causeway, using raise terrain with the hoe?
It would probably take a couple hrs of real time to do that.
Just make them swim
They have like iirc 200+ stamina
Enough to cover a short distance of water
Bringing them via boat is doable
Just takes a ton of time and patience
Anyways the went off topic
@fallow schooner What do you wanna know about the mistlands?
I'm missing materials to craft the new armor sets, are they in those towers you mentioned?
Eh itβs not too terrible. You can get iron tier knife from the ocean and swamp tier food by just sailing along the edge of swamp, hopping out to grab turnips on the shore, then sailing off again
That gets you started with a swamp weapon and food. Still kinda rough, but once you get root chest it becomes a ton easier and once you get iron you can upgrade to mistlands/plains tier food (serpent meat)
I struggle more in Black Forest tbh. But I also donβt cheese things with bows
I hate having to flatten land, ugh
There was a small snow biome near my starting area, and I managed to snag and tame a 1 star wolf fairly early. I got one to aggro, and it chased me back to my base and fell into the moat, and I just blocked him off in the pit.
they helped me to kill trolls & bears.
lost a few wolves, but bread more of them. The ones that died & left a trophy are immortalized above my fireplace. Good dogs go to valhalla.
wolf dies fighting a troll or a bear, it's valhalla-bound.
You have 3 main resources you need to gather
Blackcores
Sap
Soft tissue
Blackcores, can be found in infested mines which is the biome's dungeons, they come in a variety of structures so keep a look out, if the structure has seeker guarding it then its an infested mine
Sap, these are gathered from the glowing roots you see in the mistlands, you will need an item that was mentioned by Omni, sap is the primary resource for crafting all the new stuff in the mistlands
Soft tissue, these can be gathered via the giant remains primarily from the skull, this is the second important resource in accessing mistlands gear
Lastly dvergrs, these are neutral entities found primarily in the mistlands, they come in 2 forms, rogue and mages, encountering them at first they will be friendly towards you but hurt anyone of them ir destroy any structures near the vicinity of their ward they will get very angry at you and will now turn hostile and attack you on site
Dvergrs are primarily found near their settlements which can come in a variety of styles depending on the location of the structure
They can also spawn in the flat-ish areas of the mistlands either as a duo or a solo, they can also be found in those wisp light post you see around the mistlands, which can spawn either of the two dvergr variants
Thats pretty much everything you need to know in terms of progression
Wall of text im sorry mods π
Is it just Dvergr from that settlement, or do all Dvergr turn hostile?
there's a unique interaction in the game which alerts a radius of Dvergr actually. Not all will be hostile though, certainly. Likely not even another outpost a few meters away will take note, however they will indefinitely be hostile at THAT outpost
Just from the one settlement
But even one settlement of dvergr can be realllll dangerous. Careful
Good to know, was just curious if it was global, XD
You always coullllllld... just get a Gya l to blow upp their roof perhaps... π€«
do boar farms work anymore?
I hate waiting ;-;
Getting a 3 bonus yield feast is absolute luck
Morning gjall
Yeah even though they may need some tweaks
ive been messing with one for 3 hours with no luck
Are you making the one where the boars are like 6 meters high?
Well that's strange tbh
I don't know what to say
Maybe try to place a small block behind them
/on the sides
been trying that
secondary issue
they really struggle to see the food
Oh yeah I've had that one
doors SEEM to show more promise at least
I just replaced the walls with iron cages
But about the moving, idk what to do maybe try to watch a tutorial and make sure everything is right
I have which is why IDK why its not working
the tutorials are all a year old plus
do you have any screenshots of a working farm
as in, working rn, not working 3 patches ago
are spears better than atgeirs?
Depends on what spear and what atgeir and where
rn im still in bronze age
Also you should go to #valheim-help
Hmm, well In that case go with the atgeir.
It's the best bronze weapon of all time
And honestly, I don't use spears after the flint spear. When you go into the mistlands it might be a good thing to craft a spear
the new bear claws are absolutely god tier
im killing plains enemies with them
granted, its the trash, but still
it parries mountain tier enemies no problem

what do you think about the mistwalker
I mean it is very good
Maybe better than frostner
Actually 100% better
frotner but with less knockback with slash π
And axes too
now its Clubs + Axes
They're for the wood man
I have tried there
Aight
but its a viking game maannn π
Well yeah alright π
as a club player using axe against a abomination feels so good
i identfy as
Frost/ner/lover
Yes
Check my account
btw do you use it until ashlands or switch it in mistlands
I honestly don't know I haven't went that far yet I myself am kind of a new player
But the spirit damage is god
ahahahah just saw that
My only problem with the frostner is that It requires spending 600 coins
nuh i think frost makes it god
That too
what 600 coins ? oh flesh of ymir ?
idk i have 3 blackmetal chest of gold its never an issue for me
DAMN
its a one time thing not important
sir mind you tell me how much hours you have and what stage of autism do you suffer from
i dont know how people having issue with gold
π
just 1300 hours π
but like fr how many hours do you have
and planing to play more
aw hell naw
i am autistic enough to abuse frostner π
me too
i have 100 level clubs at this point
crazy gang over here πππππ
btw if you are new definitly check daggers and atgeirs in your next playthrou
im not that new sir
i dont know :d

believe me i will ππππ
I expect the answer is no, but is there a way to make it so you see Map Pings for longer?
Or another way to make it so the map will indicate a chosen spot is in a certain direction, even when it is out of range to be on the visible minimap?
unfortuneatly as i know there is not a thing for this
nope
my friend was mad about that too
i mean you can use the buttons < and > to change the size of the minimap
β¦I wonder which buttons those correspond to on steamdeck, XD
dang
Steamdeck is the perfect way to play Valheim, imo
Figured out the Steamdeck buttons for what you mentioned, by the way.
You can zoom the minimap out to PLANET scale?!
after many long long weeks in the ashlands we finished fader. now onto 7 days to die next week
many deaths and fader moving miles and miles away from his spawn
Heavy + Magic build is strong
congurlates
π―
Do mushrooms respawn in the same spots?
yes
a lot of things respawn btw flints berries etc*
Yeah, I just wasnβt sure if it was a βNew mushrooms spawn in that biomeβ situation, rather than the same exact ones respawning
But sleeping and waking up in-game speeds up the timer
now thats a nice info that i wasnt aware of
but its makes sense tho they use the same game tick system with other things
when you say that now its ehh not so effective
It's mostly just the endless constant spawning. Even if you get rid of the spawners you still have fallen Valkyries etc. I really wish the undead minions were not on the same faction as the animals
yoo wanna pvp? with the frostner? same gear
bro what
no i dont wanna pvp with you
bruh
I find it much more fun running straight towards fader with a melee build
Dont get me wrong Im a melee build fan myself
I like the 2-handed swords
But knowing how busted magic is
Combing both magic and heavy build
Is just chef's kiss imo
I love blunt and the axes
the queen was MUCH more annoying to beat than Fader. Couldn't get one melee hit in without getting swatted several meters away. Had to cheese the queen
Sometimes i just wish valheim was RL, its such a vibe and i hate cities anyways
The ads and her knockback
Try using bilebombs and ooze bombs nexttime
need to try it
If you want to secure an area and stop constant spawns, put workbenches or spawn blockers around it at regular intervals
Creatures cannot spawn within the area of workbenches and similar objects
Hello everyone
hi
guys do you think wolf meat and boar meat farm worth doing them ?
to be honest if you dont plant o wait at a spesific biome for longer on purpose you are usualy having enough resources to finish the biome without taming a one
Having tamed boars can be useful as their meat can help you with foods to carry you through 3 biomes. Plus the leather scraps they drop are very useful in the Mistlands. (Or Sealed tower if you want to do that in Plains gear).
Wolves are useful as guardians of your base, but eventually you barely use them in the plains as even there they're quite fast out leveled.
On the other hand, when going hunting you may end up with the same amounts of items you get from your tamed ones.
And the best tamed ones are the two stars, since they drop double items; but they're hard to find.
So it's a choice with willing to spend time to get the right ones and starting a group of it or ignoring that and occasionally going out to hunt.
so to be honest in my playthroughs i never had any issues about wolf and lox meat but i had so many times problem with boars tho but never needed them after swamp
You can use the leather scraps after swamp when they're used in the Oozebombs.
Anyone looking for another chill lightly modded dedi server?
Depends really but if you can atleast tame them its good for the long run
You dont need em but you can have em if you want
Whatβs the over under on deep north being a 2026 release? Asking for a friend.
We have no idea
New player here, reading the chat for past 2 days makes me realize I've barely scratched the surface heading into black forest ππ
I'm sitting here struggling with grey dwarfs and homie describes the mistlands as vikings meets starship troopers lmao
why do bears and viles regenerate faster
I'm new to this discord. Sorry for asking, but do we have any idea when the full release is coming? Patch 1.0?
No timeframe has been given.
Is it crazy to think that it's not that hard to run out of iron in your world?
There are several ways to get it, though once all mine-able iron runs dry, your options do get much more limited.
big bulky bear
yes
Can't run out of renewable resources
Well, at least not this one
running out of the best sources of it though (Crypts and rusted swords/armor in mistlands) is plenty possible, but I feel like that's not really gonna happen unless you have a lot of people on the server
Is there? I'm really only aware of barrows and the scrap piles in them
but like, if you're just struggling your way through the game your first time, if you lose everything like 2 or 3 times, you might not be able to recover at all
I guess you'd still be able to farm up root armor
Are you playing with the difficulty setting that fully deletes your inventory on death?
Some fish drop iron when you catch them and Oozers drop it too
I suppose if you're playing hardcore it would get tougher. I still doubt a singleplayer would really run out if they're not doing an extravagant building project or osmething though
No, but I've had some experiences where my gear just wasn't recoverable
what kind of weapons can you make in swamp tier without iron?
Like your tombstone just bugged out and disappeared?
Abyssal razor is pretty good
One weapon doesn't take much iron though
idk what happened, it's usually a problem if I die in the water. Like I've died off the coast of the swamp and not been able to recover my gear, I think it sank somehow
It should float, but ngl it can be buggy sometimes. In particular if you alt+f4 right after dying, the tombstone ends up bugging out
When it happened and I couldn't find my stuff, I just rolled back my world, it costed me an hour or two of progress, but saved me tons of time rebuilding
honestly, I'm really not a fan of the entire concept of losing all your gear when you die, both with you having to go pick it up, and it just getting deleted. I think it's just not a fun gameplay mechanic.
I'm also very annoyed with raids, but I understand that's easy to just turn off.
Different mindsets I suppose. I don't remember the exact settings, but can't you mitigate a lot of that by lowering the deathpenalty?
Personally I feel like death isn't too punishing, and I play on permadeath (delete character/world on death)
I think the lowest setting is that you don't lose anything you have equipped
Sounds like that would help
It does, but it does still leave you vulnerable to losing a stack of scrap iron
Tbh, this is de facto how I play any game like this. If I have a big enough loss, I just say screw it and stop playing or start over
This'd crush me in a game as slow as Valheim though.
the only time ive ever even considered it was when we had 7 people going on a server at once. but even then we just hunted and foraged when we were going places and never ran out.
i can't wait to play on ps5
Whats so special about ps5?
valheim comes to PS5 this year
Ye I know that just wondering how its much different from PC or Xbox
hi guys
hello
Oh damn! I take it we wont have the ability to import characters?
Heya guys
unsure but don't think so π€
not sure how you could get the files onto a PS5
since steam version saves on Steam-cloud
Xbox in microsoft cloud services
playstation in Sony-cloud services
I don't think it's possible to share save files for any game across platforms, unless you're talking about games like War Thunder where everything is online
Um how soon is a ps5 version? Or is it wrong to ask those types of questions in here?
We only know it will be this year π
valheim is better then IMHO
since you can have files in cloud, store them locally or both
Perhaps that might be the way to go about it. A Valheim account to connect and transfer progress.
Id probably stick with PC anyway because I still use a controller on it
there is no such thing as a valheim account tho
Hmm if the files can be in the cloud, then I wonder if you can migrate them between platforms
if you can unload, yes
interesting
I know, but they could add it if they wanted to have a way to transfer progress
but unsure if PS uses a diffrent file style
guys where can i find a online pvp server
You could technically transfer progress if you dropped all your stuff in a chest and then grabbed it from your console, but youd have 0 skills
oh
true
You might find one in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
However, PvP isn't something this game is designed for, so chances are that there will be not many or none at all.
ight thx
Welp, considering he is on Midgard... That would be strange π
game would probably croak upon loading him in
awww killing my dreams
Sorry
I get sooo unlucky with the wind while sailing on this gameπ
The final boss will be a life-size Smiffe plushie
I almost feel like the game is programmed to make the wind go against you every time you take the boat out
yes
but no
console commands can fix that lol
there would really be no loss besides the world file, unless someone does figure out a way to get those on playstation as well.
cheatsword would one-shot them
or kill-all command. but that is sometimes bad to use if the enemies spawned are 50 star or worse since they would spam 1000000000's of items π
you havent killed moder yet?
i always pop moder the second im actually into ocean biome just to guarantee i can get at least to a reliable current lol
no i have over 1600 hours i just started a new world for fun and i'm in the swamps now
What do y'alls maps look like? I'm genuinely curious how much of the map y'all explore
I explore quite a bit, I like to find spots with a lot of good resources in proximity, find all merchants, etc.
Though I donβt really walk/sail back and forth over the same general area 5 times to ensure that every pixel of fog of war has been removed
Do I really need armor to roam the black forest and mine copper? I find grinding meadows for deer hide quite tiring
Not necessarily no. I wouldnβt worry much about meadows armor
Definitely wanna get some Black Forest armor at some point though, thereβs 3 options to choose from
It's a new playthrough but modded, got a crude bow, fire arrows, flint battleaxe and flint club
The nights have fuling spawns
Donβt think having likr 6 armor from grinding a bit extra meadows will help you much with fulings
I usually just go with crude bow for few trolls, once you have gone through the game once or twice they are easy enough to kill
Or flint spear if you want to roll upclose π
Yeah but I hate it when the earth starts shaking and when I look up I see a troll that snuck up on me while mining
You dont have to worry about that until you kill Elder
i prefer an atgeir against trolls tbh
makes killing them absolutely braindead
No no I meant like trolls sneak up on me when I'm mining XD
Since both Troll and Elder have to be killed in a world for the raid to happen
-# Pre BF π
meh, i tend to avoid skipping biomes
early root armour is also kinda busted if you can grab it
Is it?
Well, you can totaly encounter trolls in meadows gear... You cant skip biome when going from first to second
@sharp bluff
I don't find too much pierce or poison in black forest. Not to the point where resistance feels busted
Maybe if you like bow spam, bow levels do give quite a bit. Though I'd say you can beat just about anything with a bow regardless of levels
Anyone got a good recommendation for wisplight mod ? like the dezzmistyballs one lol
Folks in #mods-discussion might π
the free archery levels are kinda bs
It'll make things go faster for sure but I have a hard time seeing it changing the outcome of any fights, at least changing it enough to warrant taking on the swamps for long enough to find and defeat several abominations
no more oneshots cuz a random 2 star shoots you in the back and innate poison resistance are also kinda nice
any clue when the deep north update is coming? winter is almost over
Winter is never over
No we dont, no timeline given by devs π
That was unfortunate. I lagged out and lost my tombstone with my stuff in it so the host just let me bring in another character
Ashland was not fun. Hopefully the deep north is not as cancerous
I find that the biome coming out makes the biome before it feel really fun.
For example, when Ashlands came out, I really enjoyed how the Mistlands felt knowing something is after it
Maybe itll be similar for Deep North π
Could make Ashlands more interesting by giving another place to use the weapons and whatnot
the advanced pointy stick may also finally become a decent weapon
One can hope
I mean, it's already a pretty kickass weapon. Just not in Ashlands π
It is me or are Mounts basically broken/useless?
Haven't used them much, but they seem okay for their use cases. To get around slightly faster and have someone to fight by your side when you get there
Spent a bunch of time taming a both wolves, lox and asksvin - Even when I tell them to stay they instantly run off to attack things (especially the Asksvins).
In the Ashlands, they run off into the Lave where I can reach them... I can't call them... they aggro everything and then die.
I just got a 2 Star Asksvin (after 20+ hours of seeking for one) and now I'm afraid to use it as my other ones have all died horrible stupid deaths.
keep askvin in the pen so they don't run off. Use saddle to ride them around lava and don't let them do their own thing unless you have plenty to spare (relatively easy to have a bunch)
I had a 1 Star that even after telling it to "stay" aggroed to a Morgan and died quickly.
Sounds like you're looking for an army of pets, not mounts
Trying to command an army of pets can be a bit wonky, intentionally so as devs want you to fight for yourself, not have others do it for you. Still breeding a bunch of wolves can be used to easily cheese bosses and such if you really want
But riding a single lox or askvin around is fine. Askvin are also immune to lava
No. Im looking to ride a tame out. One, not multiple. Stop. Get off and NOT suddenly have my mount running around aggroing things. I dont think thats unreasonable.
That's fair yeah, that's been suggested a lot too. But even with them running off and agroing they're useful imo
The thing is they're pretty easy to breed too so even if you lose one while out adventuring you can just grab another when you get home
They're not gonna save you from much or make your life 1000x easier, but they help you out a tad
I donβt suppose thereβs a graphics setting to make branches and such invisible if theyβre too close to the cameraβ¦? Not seeing oneβ¦
What I'd do is take one of the bred askvin out, go where I need to go set up a portal, hop off, take off the saddle and just let him do whatever it wants.
I think the auto/aggro thing is the biggest issue for me. I can accept that they aren't meant to be a pack animal or a fighting animal... but I just want to be able to take it out and not suddenly lose it because it got itself into trouble... sigh
can someone give me good stuff in valheim im new
Or some settings to make traveling through heavily forested areas less awful? I like to have my point of view a little further from my character, but then branches obscure my vision constantly.
here is some good stuff - build shelter, rest, explore, don't die
bro
If youβre new, giving you later gear would actively be doing you a disservice.
Agreed. It would be cool if you could set up to two tames on "stay" mode where they won't agro anything
i ain't your bro, pal .. but seriously good stuff comes from progress, dropping you a flametal sword not going to teach you how to play the game
I'd heavily recommend just playing through the game and progressing normally, but if you really wanna go get endgame stuff in the first biome you can search up "valheim how to activate devcommands" and spawn in whatever you want
So you head to a Black Forest biome next, and look for dungeons!
Maybe a way to make trees more translucent in general, please?
you can chop the trees - no trees, no problem
Yes, but adding βChop all trees in every area I ever go toβ would make this game much less enjoyableβ¦
I cleared out the trees around my base, before planting some orderly ones, but that doesnβt help me anywhere else.
I don't think there's any such setting. But at least you only really have to deal with an excess of trees in blackforest and parts of meadows. The rest of the biomes should be okay
maybe try changing the angle you look at so it's not too steep ?
Mm⦠darn. I took like, a 3 year long break from the game, and came back to experience all the updates, but that still means going through another Meadows/Forest phase, XD
You can be done with meadow/bf phase in like 30 Valheim days
no
Thank goodness, Iβll go through with clear cutting some zones to rotate through to farm em then
I despise enemies, who have things I want, that only run away.
Whereβs my Skyrim Fury/Courage spells, XD
damn me and my homie at 40 and just about to leave
you can take it slow, nothing wrong with that.
first time
Can be, not Should be
Yello.
He was just giving a reasonable time frame for someone in a rush
tbh first time for sure take your time with everything. There's no rush
This is my first run without my brother in law explaining everything, and like I said, itβs been years, haha
i think i got horrible rng tho cuz i had to do a far far run throughout the mountains to get to the elder
Horrible run or lack of experience. Sounds very weird if you couldn't just go around the mountains
But most times Elder is a pretty far run/sail
There might have been a close-ish island to raft to, alternatively, but who knows
i tried everything but sailing bc sailing in the raft takes a while π
Yeah the raft is pretty terrible. Have you found bronze yet though? Should be able to make a much better sea vessel than a raft if you're ready to take on Elder
yeah yeah im almost past the bronze age just gotta wait for my homie to hop back on so we can slaughter him
I recommend making some bronze nails sometime soon if you haven't
Finally built my first base.
i have once we kill the elder i think the friggin swamp is next
Like, base, or house?
i accidently went there in search of bloodbags
Yep, swamp is after black forest, unless Iβm mistaken
horrible experience I'm guessing?
first time lol
A mix. It is ontop of a dungeon cave.
You know those donβt refill, right?
How many berry bushes need to be clustered somewhere for yaβll to bother marking the spot?
Is it possible to skip the mountain and do plains first? I hate this damn place
Probably possible, but likely difficult
like 3-4? Although I'd say a bigger concern of mine is if they're nearby other groups of bushes.
I'd rather have 4 groups of 4 bushes in close proximity, than one group of 6
Hmm. Makes sense, for basic raspberries, Iβve been marking spots with 6 or more bushes grouped together.
Does rain help stealth?
I don't believe so.
No Breath of the Wild logic, drat, XD
Stealth so far in my experience is purely based on visibility.
@winter jungle taking the convo here because it's not suggestion related. Been at it a while very on and off, I've probably had like 40+ worlds. A lot of them ended in like black forest / early swamp, but if I made it past that I usually made it pretty far.
I've made it up to mistlands on vhard permadeath
I find permadeath makes things interesting because you really gotta do your best at every point, and prepare for every fight. Doing it at high difficulty is a bit masochistic, but I do some little challenges that I find make things more interesting. One I'm particularly fond of is using no elemental resist meads
do you have map on or off ?
because most ppl i see turn it on despite it's not suggested by the hardcore settings
I'm considering starting a new run with it off.
with permadeath and hardcore settings or just normal and map off ?
I'm on edge about doing it though because you can't craft a portable map as far as I'm aware.
Normal and map off. I never play higher difficulties unless there is a reward for doing so.
fair enough xD
Too much time on Legendary Skyrim with no reward incentive.
u still trying it or gave up on it ?
It's a very different pretty cool experience, but I wouldn't say it's particularly difficult just very time consuming. I play with map usually
Still trying but taking breaks here and there. Right now taking a break from valheim
More people would disable the map if you could craft 1 in game.
map you could draw yourself in game sounds very cool ngl
This is my most recent run, kinda masochistic but I find it fun:
Settings:
Very Hard Difficulty
No Boss portals
Raid Rate more
Fire Hazards on
Rules:
- No Resistance Meads
- No dying
- No Atgeir
- No Bow
- No Staff of Protection
- No Cheesing
- No Terrain Walls
- No Excessive Pet tactics
- No cheesing skill training
- No bombs inside dungeons / no cheesing with bombs. New blob spawning bombs are fine, due to trophies being limited.
- No spamming ranged spears
- No Excessive spawn proofing
- No portalling out of dire situations
General ideas:
Try to switch weapons often between biomes to be jack of all traits
Try to make bases off of the current environment / structures and use local fauna for defense
Yeah, or maybe even a compass.
Thereβs a frikkin Cartography Table, but it only does things to the map built into your character, which is sadβ¦
I know Cartography Table exists, but it is static and you can't take it with you.
I did 1 no map run once, and hand drawing your own map is pretty fun
The yggdrassil tree in the sky kinda functions as a general guide / compass
sounds like a knifes run
Knives are fun.
knife spear axe fists sword crossbow magic etc.
I like to switch it up a lot. I think spears and fist weapons are my favorite though
trying to get myself to like maces but its hard
also no resistance mead sounds alike alot tbh , like for the swamp is very skippabble i agree but the mountain ? don't you have to cheese it with campfires untill you get a good fernis cave to make fernis set ?
and fire resistance mead also
are you just not using the root harnesk or you sawp armor mid fight ?
because yag gajhils and fader i would say exteremly hard without fire resistant mead
Bows in this game sort of ruin the experience.
I'm considering going sword and shield in a new run.
Get a few QOL mods that make sense too.
Do a sparaten run :3
I'd say campfires until you get one silver vein and can make wolf chest piece.
And I wouldn't say its too cheesy because surviving on campfires is a lot tougher than downing a frost resist mead
The cool thing about no resistance meads is that your armor choice actually matters. Want poison resist in swamp? Get root helmet. Want fire resist for yag fight? Better get a fenris set.
And most importantly it makes the all too OP root harnesk a little weaker yeah. I run it basically at all times after moutnains, but you do have to be careful of fire. Also good to pay attention to your environment, taking a dip in the ocean for wet effect is a life saver
would you say getting wolf cape easier or a piece of fernis armour ?
yag fenris, gjalls I rarely get hit by but will take a dip in the ocean before fighting (also found out that you're basically invulnerable to fire while IN the ocean, very fun with fins of destiny).
Fader I haven't fought on these settings yet, but tbh he does so much damage especially on vhard I don't think fire resistance or weakness will make any difference. Gonna try for a no hit run probably, might use magic. The one issue with magic is I don't use bubble and magic requires eitr, which means I don't have enough HP to survive any hits so really gotta be on my guard
defindly not impossiable but you have to be almost perfect with it
eh probably wolf cape because fenris you need the full set. but wolf cape is rng on trophy drops
I like silver wolf chestpiece because its just silver, no caves or rng
Fenris requires getting bit lucky with finding early caves and enough hair inside them, but there are ways to clear them easily even with lower tier gear.
π«‘
Full Viking run.
you don't need the full set to get resistance against the cold / frost
Fenris chest piece grants frost resistance.
Going to get the Azu Hover Stats and Recycle & Reclaim mods and see if there is any compas and tent mods.
oh true. Does the set ALSO give frost resist, or is that a wiki typo?
The set grants fire res.
or is that me misreading the set bonus
Folks in #mods-discussion might help with that π
naa i just tried it the chest piece does give you frost resistance
It was me miserading it. Set bonus lists bonus from set and individual pieces
Wiki mentioned, Asatru arrived.
Resilient moonshine jamboree is super fun!
Is modding still a pain for Steamdeck?
Wiki? Where? π
-# I honestly didnt notice xD
what does this mean ?
Installing mods by going into the directory and then having to redirect the Exe and such?
I was kidding lol, just coincidence. But here mentioned before you typed. #valheim-chat message
That is also something folks in #mods-discussion might be helpful with π
just use r2modman or thunderstorm
No clue what those are yet
I hope they donβt hate Linux like the Skyrim mod managers do
can't help you with that i am on Pathetic windous laptop π
I just find it sad that Steam likes Linux for its own devices, but so much community support ignores it.
do you skip any bosses ? or you don't allow it for youself because of no cheese rule ?
I biome skip a heck of a lot, especially to get some food upgrades
I play on either max or increased raid rate usually and really hate the permanent annoying raids bonemass unlocks like bats and surtlings and such so I tend to fully skip him usually. Other bosses I often skip past to get some resources from the next biome first, but always go back to kill them. I don't care much for wisplight so I'm often in mistlands gear by the time I spawn yag
OH yes speaking of raids , where u make your base ?
under elder or you consider it as cheese ?
I just turned off raids. I get that theyre part of the game but I dont like building something and have it all wrecked by trolls or something
Happened once, never again
raids are just free delivery mats to your door ngl :3
Usually I just make my base whereever is convenient for gathering resources. Usually in meadows or plains, sometimes mistlands
I always live in such shitty starter shack houses until I unlock bronze, then I go on a huge sailing trip to find traders, leviathans, serpents (so much powerful shit you can get from sailing) as well as spotting a swamp with crypts near a tall mountains and a meadows nearby, to have my iron and silver grind be easy
I like to come up with creative defenses though. Once you take terrain walls/moats out of the equation there's so much fun base defense you can do
isn't sailing with karve annyoing though ?
maybe i am just spoiled from using long ships xD
nah Karve is pretty quick.
It usually doesn't take that much sailing to find some good stuff either
Whoa, how long have Bears been in the game? They were definitely not a thing when I last played, XD
Not all too long, only a few months π
Huh. New Black Forest enemy? Maybe another biome too?
β¦maybe multiple tiers of bears across several biomesβ¦?
Can you tame/ride them?!
Maybe, maybe and maybe
Can certainly try to tame or ride them to find out
Latest biome though is Ashlands which was quite a while ago
If you can scare a bear you can tame a bear
Damn, the bear must be able to tame me then
Bears cannot be tamed thus not ridden either. They eat blueberries on ground tho.
image enters my head of a viking on a leash on all fours in a bears cave
Darnβ¦
β¦||kinky||β¦
way to spoil the dream .. build-a-bear petition perhaps
Might be a stretch to think there's multiple tiers of bears across biomes. Bears wouldn't really fit in anywhere but the forest I feel
Mountain Bears could have totally been a thingβ¦
i wish they add a raid for bears if you ever broke any beehives xD
Hmm, destroy beehive, bear gets killed in world could be trigger requirements.
i think they are saying those for deep north
like polar bears
just a theory though
1k health pool
Polar bear mistakes you for a salmon
Gets salmonized
I see many photos of pure white Polar Bearsβ¦
β¦with a lot of blood on their facesβ¦
you can make it work if you are surrouned by trees or rocks
@vast jewel
They just like eating cherries its not blood π
Ah yes, those⦠Polar Cherries.
Very hardy plant, that
Polar bears are considered hyper carnivores so anything on sight is potential food so that includes your viking man, but that would honestly be dumb logically ingame that a polar will be stronger than a bf bear
I mean they are
Obv it would be a Dire Polar Bear
Imagine rune bears like those from elden ring
I eventually settled on a dungeon camp.
what are those
These Polar Bears arenβt native to Valheim, Odin thought these particular ones were awesome, so they got to come here after death, just like us.
Very big bears with runes
never played eldin ring or watched it just in case if i didn't want to spoiel myself for future i bet though i would never play that game
Simple as i could explain technically
In my head, Runes became alchemy circles from FMA, and you can imagine where my thoughts went after that, XD
Fma you mean full metal alchemist? Right? I think i know where you are pointing to
does making meads and poitions can be considred as alchemy ?
Yes i guess
No as its a chemical reaction
I mean, Fantasy alchemy rather than FMA βTransmutationβ alchemy, but yeah
Some are magic reaction so i guess some can be considered magic alchemy
Eitr infused bears? They could deal poison and lightning too.
Thereβs no real chemical reason for why I would use bags of congealed animal blood to make healing potions, really.
btw isn't the character in valheim considered like a dead human or something like this in the lore ?
why we still shit ton of poison damage if we tecninally aren't alife xD
You could say that
The poison is dead too, so it all checks out.
bear shooting fire balls from it's mouse
what xD
It vaguely sounded relevant in my head
You aint wrong tho
maybe beacuse our character still has tissue or life cells that could be inficted or burn
unlike a skeleton who posion doesn't affect it at all which make sense
Technically we are reborn from being dead
βItβs all like, metaphorical or something, man. Youβre a ghost viking or something, but everything else is a ghost too! So itβs like, ghost poison getting to you, yβknow what I mean, man?β
excatly
not very fun though :3
I bet the enemy is having a lot of fun poisoning you, so it balances out
i like the tid bits of lore thrown all over the world ngl
imagine a game theory video about valheim
maybe when 1.0 drops
Check out "Fader's Memory : A Valheim Theory" on YouTube π
Slackabee made a cool compilation showing lore from runestones
im with you there. as someone who can spend dozens/hundreds of hours building i hate seeing my stuff get destroyed. i have considered just using a mod to make build pieces invincible instead, but then im just gonna abuse that for boss fights lol.
You can turn the raids off using the world modifier π
Dont be ashamed of using world modifiers. They are in the game for a reason !
World Modifiers is my favorite update π
ok i already looked up the video immiedtly because i adore valheim lore videos so much and just watched the first minute and i already like it xD
how dare youtube not recommend this to me π
Tho it removes the resource shipping from Raid Express
Hows it been going you enjoying it?
Yea its pretty fun
Got my mods sorted.
Im using thunderstore manager since vortex refuses to work
Had to manually set willybach textures myself
What are your all favorite mods in Valheim?
Definitely BetterArchery willybach hd textures and almost all armory and weapons mods plus plant everything
Those are my go to
Alright time to fight ze queen
Forgot More Points of interest mod
Damn, with no map the game feels so different.
What weapons did yall use for your first tine fighting the queen?
Once I went nomap noportal I never went back jajaja
It makes valheim so deep its intense
Not for everybody though !
I used FireBall staff xD
Maybe thats lame though some people dont like magic
The AoE helps with those extra seekers
About to be building 500+ towers.
First time fighter her I used magic
I disabled raids on this run. Feels to gameified for immersion.
Whats your favorite weapon to fight Seekers with?
2-handed swords
all the way
Krom and Slayer my beloved
Havent reached queen yet
Same and battleaxes for chopping wood and the woodpeople
||Ice staff||
Using battleaxes for chopping is... certainly something
Bile bombs
:>
Hell yea
More effective than a one handed version if the trees are close together
Very nice for wood farms
Ice staff is nice just missing AOE
The troll in my farm:
Add that with ooze bombs
AoE doesnt do anything extra against queen tho
Unless you have very bad aim
This is my first time fighting her full melee
For the ads
Well more like heavy + magic build
Only magic i use is thunder
Yeah I used embers on the ads frost on her
Melee is definitely more fun tho
I love how it feels weaving between magic and melee, hard to get right but its really fun
Yesss someone gets it
Hybrid magic melee is hella fun yeah. My most fun build
Thunder and Greatswording is fun as hell
Full magic is just too uninteractive / OP to be fun for me, but magic does add a nice pizazz to incorporate with your melee build
Ever since I got my hands on the 2 eitr giving feast I went full magic + heavy
Such nice dps
And im excited to visit ashlands again
2nd btw
This isnt my first
The furthest i have been is the plains
I usually got lost in time building stuff
Its stronger than me
Damn, do you have to clear grass before placing a camp with fire spreads on?
I guess clearing tree paths and placing regular campfires is the move.
I haven't really found it necessary no, but I suppose it could be a good precaution
big thing is just not having wooden parts of your house too close to the fire
Just tried it, it burnt a patch of the surrounding grass but now it is safe.
I like that.
I'm gonna use tree stumps as indicators.
The hardest thing about the queen is that shes all melee
So leaves you little room for attack and you gotta time your hits otherwise you risk taking a bunch of dmg or getting knocked far
She has one ranged attack, but yeah she can be intense. It really does make me sad how magic/bows trivialize a lot of boss encounters. I've sworn off cheesing things like that but I wish I had known on my first playthrough to have more depth on my first experience
Is dark souls experience relevant when fighting the queen?
I haven't played too much dark souls, but I'd say not a ton more relevant than throughout the rest of the game
Which means, kinda relevant but far from necessary
Hey guys, someone can help me?
I dead in the mountain, and i cant will catch my itens. π
I want someone only to help to keep my itens ago! Please!
Try and ask here: https://discordapp.com/channels/391142601740517377/1033392094817046630
Oh so you need a mule
Alternatively, you can use cheats to fly over and recover it. Search up how to enable "devcommands" on google
Yeah, I don't recommend them. They kinda ruin the game outside of using them for building big projects or testing some things out
Its more fun without flying
Yeah which is why I went melee this 2nd time fighting her
Like building legos literally
Quite intense actually, managing stamina and watching out for your shield
Shes half hp
Jesus christ the amount of times she had the jump on me
Her arena really gives her an advantage
Did you impale moder?
Im talking about the 6th boss

This staff of protection is saving my life
It's incredibly OP yeah
why do bears have to have such a ridiculous amount of health? for black forest enemies they feel too tanky and the damage is all over the place
i tank multiple hits dealing 5 or so damage unblocked and then randomly get hit with 50 damage
totally agree. as a longtime player that stopped playing a couple of years a go, I recently came back to the game and the strength of the bear surprised me.
yeah i wanted to know the threat before i fought one and was dumbfounded when i saw that thing has more health than a troll
if I have three pieces of bronze armor (helmet, tunic, leggings) do I get -15% movement speed?
Their lower damage makes them easier to parry early than a troll, halving the damage you need to deal to them
no. only chest and pants give -speed
Helmets donβt reduce movespeed. Bronze armor is generally not worth the defence increase for the slowness though.
Later heavy armor is more worth it, bronze is too close to light armor defence
id go for troll but if you dont need the sneak, swap the hood for a bronze helmet.
Bear legs and chest + bronze helmet are best for defence with no slowness
honestly troll + abyssal razor secondary is pretty op in BF
at that point id go for full bear for the set bonus
troll armor change nothing about the razor
Me too but thatβs not great for reducing damage unless itβs pure elemental
so no bronze armor for fighting the Elder?
No, the slowness just will make avoiding attacks harder without enough defence to make up for it
If you already made some itβs good enough and you donβt need to throw it away
only if you really dont care abt movement speed penalty
thanks, y'all
The queen is quite annoying once she starts getting low
She keeps spawning ads and borrowing away
just killed my second bear, this time with actual meelee.
congrats! the ashlands await!
well it's the only thing that I got
Do the bones in the overworld stone⦠things respawn?
i dont think so.
Darnβ¦
thinking of upgrading your club or armor?
Iβve returned after a long time, and I vaguely remember a hammer thing that needed bones to craft and upgrade
ah. the stagbreaker.
yeah you also need corewood, so good luck.
I could kill enemies from the other side of scrap piles in crypts with those hammers, I loved it
Do those need metal axes to gather?
nah. stone or flint is good
Then I just might creep to the edge of the Black Forest and pray, then!
just try not to get turned to fertiliser
Not that the Stagbreaker is all that useful against Eikthyr, though
Love using it for demolition
works well against groups and for clearing shrubbery
Loved it for the Grey Dwarf Spawner things
Hit the spawns as well as the spawner all at once
i just cut down the spawner itself with an axe
I kinda like keeping some spawners around, though
yeah those make for good wood and stone farms.
anyone know if the paws of the bear are any good?
and to add to it they also have a few relevant resistances, whereas a troll is weak to pierce
i hate taking a break from a game and not being able to get back into it
relateable
Yep
I also can never continue a playthrough in a game like valheim
Gotta go start a new one
Huh. Never had a deer drop 1 hide and nothing else, not even meat before
can relate. ive lost too many runs at swamp or even mountains bc of that
Whats one of your favorite playthroughs so far? Anything in particular stand out?
I've had many at this point, but probably my first one stands out the most because its the only one I did with 1-2 of my close buddies and everything was new to me. Was a lot of fun
Next would probably be the one I did with some people I met here. We wanted to see how miserable we could make ourselves putting all the new world settings on literally the worst of the worst (very hard, hardcore, 0.5 resources, max raids, no portals, no map, etc.), and somehow it ended up kinda fun. No map is a different beast
Finally it would probably be the one very hard permadeath run where I managed to make it to mistlands without dying
Alot of people rq at mistlands
Sounds like a blast π
I did something similar. Tried Max raids nomap noportal. It made me go no raids jajaja
I loved the nomap noportal though. Definitely a style that brings out the best of Valheim's ambiance and music and vibes. But it requires a lot of patience
Due to the visiblity issue
aw :(
My favorite biome
Same i like building a base there
Welp time to prepare for ashlands
Its also really hard for me to get back into something after Ive stopped for a while. Unless its OSRS or something like that. For Valheim I can develop worlds and work on that sort of project forever but its hard to keep playing the same character. At least personally
Once I get to mountains I feel very tempted to start mistlands. And usually I do. At least go dabbling a bit. Then once I defeat moder and get some plains gear I'll go all in
Then once I wanna build a base I'll probably go kill yag so I can clear the mist around my base
I make my main farming base at a border of a mistlands and plains biome
I like to be deep in the mistlands. Feels more magical
yeah im gonna hate mistlands once i get there. low vis and tons of bugs is gonna have me dead TONS. not to talk about the cliffy terrain even worse than mountains.
I've gone to the point of not relying on wisplight lol
Truly a valheim masochist
I only place wisplights at my base
I never saw too much point in it
Its radius is so small and thereβs quite a few areas of mistlands that arenβt misty anywyas.
Plus all the important stuff in mistlands is marked by enemies or wisps anyways
Like itβs a nice thing to have but by no means needed
that sounds really similar to me with plains. thats my favourite biome bc of all the build stuff and thats when stuff really starts feeling cool. plus its really flat and open.
yeah if you didnt already realise, i love building. getting materials is a pain tho.
The occasional buzzing will remind you that this biome isnt all that peaceful
Better get out your fly starter
yeah and the random air raid siren is gonna really remind you of that. and send you back home.
I just swat the deathsquitos as it flies towards me
I wish they had lower health
i just wear a root harnesk. basically nullifies dathsquitoes.
They already do?
God 10 iron bars for a drakkr

never undestood why in valheim theres mosquitoes that hit harder than a truck.
I mean it is a giant mosquito
Nah, I canβt oneshot them with my fist
cuz its funny
There's a truck in Valheim? Did I miss an update?
Mosquitoes? No. Deathsquitoes!
no. i was just saying that gettin stung by a deathsquito does a ton of damage
Have you been hit by a truck before?
uhh, no?
Have you been stung by an irl deathsquito before?
damn, if only, we could have had some substantial comparison between the two situations
new plains mob: truck kun
Truck is 85 blunt damage, deathsquito 90 pierce
sends you into a paralell universe
Fuelings in wartrakks?
im so hyped for the valhiem end game i saw a clip of it and it looks sick
Where did you see this?
what biome u in
abt to kill elder
youtube and tiktok
yeah good luck its gonna take a while
thats fun
itsa fun game tho
You still have your whole afterlife before you!
i would kill the elder but i gotta wait for my buddy to hop on
im rockin 2 star troll armor
did u have fun mining copper π
no it was horrible i got thru it tho
i heard it only goes uphill from here though
ya thats bacically the worst part
man im loving these new fist weapons. paws are really good.
I watched the whole things and it was sooo good , thank u for the recommendation
dude they looked sick i was gonna craft em but im out by 1 bear claw
you just need to hunt down another bear
My favorite part of valheim is mining copper
yeah π last time i did that it was a 20 min boss fight against a troll and bear + a couple brutes
elden ring exp helped out tho
yeesh. my first experience was luring it to meadows and just spooking it away with a campfire when it got too close.
fire arrows and finewood bow helped out.
the finewood bow and the hammer with the aoe attack saved me
i forgot the hammers name
stagbreaker?
yeah
imma try to beat valheim before deep north comes out
so i can progress instantly
now im just hunting for more bears so i can get full bear set.
you should be locked up
honestly mining is ok until theres a random enemy harassing you.
you need atleast the bronze axe for it to be bearable tho not gonna lie
Hey I'm just curious, why don't people want a way to move tamed animals to other bases?
https://discordapp.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612/1459677474198786197
Something to discuss in #suggestion-discussion maybe, so it doesn't get lost here. I'm OK with the idea but I imagine having a separate raft for the purpose might be part of the issue. I dunno. π€·ββοΈ
should i attempt a fader first boss challenge (bacically i cant kill any bosses except fader)
Locked up in a copper mine π₯Ί
Would be a pretty cool flex π€·ββοΈ
yes
Man I really really hate waiting
For what?
My bad, i didn't realise that there was a seperate channel for that
Also damn, first time I lost a permadeath run to a campfire π
Darn you firetick
All good!
For a ps5 version of the game I can't play the game at all since it's not available for ps5 yet
ah I see. I wish time will pass fast and you will soon experience what it is like to be a true viking π«‘
Do u think there will be a release date before marathon releases? XD because I might buy it but having mixed feelings
this sounds very unenjoyable
I apologize for killing the mood
okay i take back what i said about bears being too strong for black forest. once you get a proper slash weapon they go down pretty easy.
just gotta watch out for slams and bites. those hurt.
now let me drive the local bear population extinct for some bear armor.
I'm so happy with my first base.
don't take temporary lulls in conversation personally. It wasn't your fault π
ok these bear paws are becoming one of my new favorite weapons
My bad
Death by toe beans π«
the lightness of knives, attack speed of fists and good damage. plus i get fists skill so i can punt these graylings easier
Fist weapons are fun the kick is awesome and now we have more than 1 β€οΈ
exactly! the kick stuns basically any small to medium thing and i love it.
I wish there was a channel to share builds or screenshots.
I didn't know those channels existed until scrolling past the voice channels.
They're sneaky channels
The slam is quite telegraphic, the bite is a bit faster
Quite a dangerous location you built on huh
Just add perimeter walls and you're good to go honestly
the slam is my nightmare bc theres two similar ones. the bite i kinda know bc bear tries getting really close
This is because I dont move around fighting a bear lol, I stand still trying to parry
I cleared the dungeon so it is pretty safe.
I also destroyed the surrounding spawners.
The bite can sometimes catch me off guard
Its not so much the spawners and skeletons you have to worry about... but a certain friend
Oh, the troll is hilarious to fight.
I unironically think it is the easiest enemy in the game.
i move around, wait for the bear to come back, try to slap me and parry that giving me a good window to deal damage.
That trophy goes to the deer
I'd say deers are harder than the troll.
hare*
Deers dont attack you...
Fireball
Yeah, but they run off over the slightest fart.
The trolls will swing, stand still for you to fully charge your bow, then swing again.
ah yes. the good old "i cast fireball"
Just dodge roll forward.
This is kinda of like, coughing baby vs "that one" bomb
This is my first time playing and ngl, I was expecting the troll to be very hard.
First set I crafted was the troll set.
trolls are so easy bc with a finewood bow and flint arrows if i get the first hit before it spots me thats easily over half hp gone before it has a chance to hit me.
They're not ones you get used to them, its the fear factor is what makes the troll iconic really, many fear since #1 Its a gigantic, #2 Is loud as balls #3 Its a troll
Oh and #4 its their first time encountering one lmao
Maybe I'm desensitized because it looks like my ex.
First time playing vs 779hours
First time was me fearing for my life
779hours - You shall be... my lumberjack
The bear is the hardest enemy I have fought so far.
Trolls honestly are so useful in the early game
I tend to avoid killing them till I capture one
bear is pretty difficult until you get the parry timings right, then its just a "come on. hit me. HA get parried!"
I'll eventually get around to it, I think the most important thing for me right now is to get the Root set.
Since I'm maining archery.
eh ive never really resorted to slave labour. i might sometimes make a nearby troll help me mine some copper but thats it.
oh the root harnesk will save you way later on too.
Oh I employed one as A lumberjack
anyway whats yalls usual go to food setup? focus on stamina or health?
as for mine i carry two of each type, health and stamina but mainly eat 2 stamina 1 health.
I might have to kill a bear for the pendant.
youll need multiple. i killed like 8 before i got a trophy.
Meadows > Plains [SSH]
Mistlands [FFE]
Ashlands [FFE]
Endgame after final boss [FFE]
Nimble Anklet might be better come to think off it.
so does anyone know if there will be new Fist weapons at all? ive been using fists since Black Forest and just got to Ashlands. im sad that i had to use a new weapon in the mistlands and hope that the Deep North update will bring some more Fist weapons
what is F?
Feast
ah
Zero info on what weapons might be added, there are teasers for weapons in the news but no sight of a new fist weapon
I am surprised they haven't added a Mjolnir like weapon.
thats a shame. they have been so much fun to play with.
Closest thing as of rn is frostner
id really want a dyrnwyn like weapon for more weapon types, maybe not for the scavenger hunt but like an "ultimate" weapon for the classes.
maybe something like zenith from terraria but nowhere near as op
im just going to be in vc if anyone would like to chill and maybe play
Ehaoh @dim mural
So wish I saw that earlier
I'm still lurking
Unc just got bored staring at the home screen and sat down to grab a drink lol
Sure, going to some caves tommorow tho so I csnt be deluded mentally
Lmfa99 peak life tbh
π
I just exist at this point until my graduation. Though I might have my first seat filled for my new run π
Oh yeah? Any chance I could add you in dms so I dont forget abt you?
Go for it man, I could always use more people who play Valheim
Im so attached to this game I still have my first ever world with everyone's first houses around even though they dipped out on me and I finished it alone π
just finished mining a copper vein for four and a half stacks of copper. time to get vaporising all my wood
relatable. still have my first world even though its unplayable since its from like 2021 lmao
My first world was just me, and it still exists. Even my old Mistlands treehouse
I'd straight up get home from a rough day, go to that world hoping someone would come back and just shed a tear because of all the nostalgia of how much fun we had when everyone had played for the first time π₯²
i wish i couldve made it to such greatness. farthest ive gotten is mountains til my adhd just has enough and i lose all intrest for a month or two
Similar for me sometimes
ive had prolly like ten good runs.
I'm a very nostalgic person so if I start a run and enough people leave barely midway through I'll kinda just... Give up?
oh im going solo every time bc i dont really have ppl to play with. i myself like a close co-operation multiplayer style in most games like this and the friends i had basically turnded our world into full on capitalism.
Farthest I made it with people was first mist lands trip with 2 guys and I never saw them again after that night
I love a tight knit group for games like this
I get that. I had 5 people start this last map with me and they've all faded away
i feel this. I'd love to have a group that actually wanted to behave like we were a small expedition of vikings, not a bunch of watch-me-solo-hers
absolutely. i like farming and building mainly so i can sit back and take care of the base while some other ppl do the fighting. ofc if im needed i WILL help in fights.
We are really a bunch of nostalgic people lol
"old." The word you're looking for is "old"
I do the same thing with the base pretty much, but I love the fighting. I do farming, cooking, crafting.
Just give me a farm and my chickens and I am a happy camper
I may be 18 but I'm unc
i am a history nerd lol. I have friends spread across Norway who i hit up for pictures of historical sites occasionally, which is how I ended up recreating the borgund stave church (although i will 100% be redoing it with the new deep north roof pieces because FINALLY STEEP ROOF)
im 20 but i feel way too old already.
buddy i literally took my shoes off earlier and my ankle popped louder than the TV please dont π
Lord have mercy
my dude my back sounds like a bundle of glowsticks at times.
My poor wrists & fingers sound like Rice Krispies
my wrists sound like cement mixers
well shit if y'all are looking to play some Vibeheim lets start organizing something lol.
snap crackle pop!
that honestly sounds really cool. i might not be able to play a lot bc school but ill make do.
I'm in school too so amen to that
im 30 and can host the server (once im done my current playthrough in about 1-2 weeks tops unless folks wanted to join in on that, currently about to enter mistlands)
I mean we can plan it out over time just to make sure we have everyone interested involved
damn this is starting to sound like a proper game group. my first time playing with randos i met on the internet.
I'd also like to add, anybody still playing with my when deep north drops is invited to my mega-expedition which is currently at about 9 vikings.
Might be interesting
and yes, i am trying to hit the deep north 15-20 people deep, for the allfather himself
just so yall know i like to take my time and not rush progression. unless we talk about pickaxes. i am NOT living without that thing.
I just admitted to a 2 week completion time starting in the mistlands so same lol
I like to really make sure I am totally flush with a biomes resources before moving on.
yeah sometimes i might rush a boss if i really just wanna be done with the biome but otherwise im just chilling.
are you looking for a server to just kinda chill on while we get our vibeheim thing organized?
Ngl iβd be building 24/7
i mean im gonna be doing my own solo world prolly until that. seeing where i can get.
that's basically why I progress so slowly lmao. I will spend several days building and doing farming/other chores to bolster supplies then just spend one day dominating the next biome lmao.
Pov: you are over prepared
but it makes it feel a lot like "we only go raiding in raiding season" type shit
Im still in meadows after 12 days eiktyr still roaming around
i just farm, build all that and all and still get my ass handed to me the moment i step into the next biome
Lacking experience fighting the mobs thats it really
That was black forest to plains for me lol
i get done with eikthyr in like a few days. sometimes on day 2 even.
plains is wild just for the sheer amount of fulings that can aggro you lmao
and GOD forbid you get a starred one with a spear
i love the plains but i hate it when all the fulings harass your builds.
yeah i dont build in the plains till i go through mistlands because turrets
Just make a stone wall perimeter
root harnesk
tho that means torch fulings absolutely burn you into a crisp.
they're almost worse because you always ignore em until you let em get close and they start to swing and the hp bar pops up with a star π
say hello to DAMAGE
honestly the burn damage sound almost gives me minecraft creeper noise levels of ptsd lmao.
Dodgeroll or jump
because if not root harnesk, feather cape.
The root harnesk is worth the tradeoff in plains since you negate 2 annoying enemies
my god thats so true.
true. without root harnesk theres no surviving deathsquitoes.
unless youd rather go with bug spray.
To be fair I have no problem dealing with all these enemies
tbh i have found the arbalest to be extremely handy against deathsquitos, but obviously you need a black forge to make it (which is lame)
Its the swarming the gets me killed
nothing says "im taking the power back" like critting deathsquitos before they even smell your pheromones
Im on my sweet sweet way to ashlands
people give knockback a lot of shit, but the atgeir or clubs are super handy for managing this.
Im interested on how well I might do this 2nd run
post combat-arms update i always have knockback as my secondary melee
make a good landing spot for yourself so you dont get stranded
Im a sword enjoyer
Im aware
This aint my first rodeo π€
sword is my favorite primary, but going into every situation with slash is just asking for problems lol.
Do note not many enemies are resistant to slash so its a good general weapon
i always have pierce in the form of a bow/arbalest though, so i carry a sword (or dagger depending) and a club
i like swords and clubs. im kind of a jack of all trades
