tacit crystal

Valheim doesn't get abandoned after 1.0, no worries. Deep North will be the last update progression vise, but any minor content in older biomes is possibility they've stated they might want to add.

In some interviews at least.

Possible, but not infinite. Would daresay not even extended. They're going to push 1.0 then probably have a meeting about "what did we not get to that we want to add?" And once they get through that list they will be done updating forever and moving on to another project.

snow aurora

No, only killing the boss changes raids. I wouldn't recommend doing it though because we don't know if beating the game when 1.0 releases will only need the trophies placed or if the bosses need to be killed in that world. If it only needs the trophies, a player could skip that boss if the trophy is already placed by someone else.

Fortunately that only applies to people who think it's smart to make comments like that at the official Valheim discord.

Which means the reaquiring is currently done by one person.

I wonder who that may be..... πŸ€”

#

The problem with "jokes" like that is they can be misunderstood. Either because a person doesn't understand that kind of "humor" or because of a language barrier.

So it's simply the smartest thing to do to not make jokes like that.
Because not everyone will see the joke and in the end it's Iron Gate that ends up with the problems, because it's very easy to have a rumor going around about "IG forcing you to rebuy the game once 1.0 launches".

It's a lot harder to get that rumor being countered, as for some stupid reason the negative things will always surface first when questions like that being asked.

pliant hatch

Well, I got here after that, so even if it was on here I wouldn't have seen it anyway. Most likely.

fossil delta
#

I 've been on here since early 2021. Even though I did leave for a while after the hack.

tacit crystal
#

Tested and noted: 1 star bear can be fought quite easily on melee with meadows tier gear, but it takes long. As long as parrying only one paw swipes and dodging other attacks everything is fine. peepoNotes

fossil delta
#

Dodging does make it easier. Since I only use block and tower shields I have to wait to safely fight starred bears. Or trolls.

tacit crystal
#

I've encountered no trolls in this world I started yesterday, but at least 8 bears (one was starred).

#

Starter island had only small patches of black forest, only one location had blueberries so took long before getting first bear armor pieces.

fossil delta
#

I do run into a lot more bears than trolls. Think I am on my 4th world since the bears were added.

tacit crystal
#

Bears have rare spawn frequency and trolls very rare. Although trolls have dedicated spawn locations near and/or inside the troll caves.

fossil delta
#

Even so you can find empty troll caves. Not often, by any means, but I have gone into empty troll caves. I think they all still had loot, though.

tacit crystal
#

Yeah, not all caves have them.

fossil delta
#

I've had locations that respawn bears seemingly every time I turn around as well. Not in actuality, but within 20 minutes or so.

tacit crystal
long peak
#

and of them is a star bear always it was funny tho

fossil delta
#

The locations have varied. One time it was by a specific house, another it was by one of the stones held up by the other stones, and you typically find bones under. Then I would go many, many days without seeing any bears at any of those locations. So I guess it was just exceptionally good RNG for a few game days, then really bad RNG. πŸ˜„

long peak
#

i know game has a few different spawn systems like one time only or if it killed in a few days respawning ones

fossil delta
#

Pretty sure it has only one spawn system. It just comes down to how much chance is going to favor you.

IE luck.

Hi guys, i've been farming silver and got my first two stacks smelted, cuz it's hard to get i tried to google what to craft in stead of just trying out everything.

Everyone online is gushing about the draugr fang, is it really that good? I have a lvl 4 huntsmans bow that seems to outdamage it

oblique zinc
#

Fang adds poison damage. In general every new weapon from the next biome is eventually better but also a lot depends on the skill level

upbeat sail
#

I see that but it's 2-4, i assume it goes up with upgrades but it doesn't seem THAT great on paper

fossil delta

My biggest problem with Fang is aiming with it. Its brightness can interfere, especially if you already have vision issues.

Glows, actually.

upbeat sail
#

Okay I can appreciate that

fossil delta

The actual big difference is the Huntsman is quieter. So draws less aggro in an area.

made me a root mask today. is it worth stacking the potion with the helmet, or just the helmet is fine?

glossy heath
#

resistances don't stack, only the strongest active one applies, but the mead does give a better resistance than the mask (75% vs 50%)
whether or not those 25% are worth it i'd say depends on how fine you are with repeatedly making and packing poison res meads.
personally i skip the mead once i have a mask, unless i'm fighting bonemass

# hasty citrus What do you guys think about magic as a whole, ashlands grind, mistlands visabil...

Magic is awesome, especially in a hybrid build, ashlands grind is a bit short, you can get stuff really quickly, biome should be longer, mistlands visibility when traversing is okay, little extra range could be okay, but also it has the most fun boss I think and hardest in the game, and finding mistfree areas is one of the best things ever in exploration.

Sailing is great, but I would not mind having another new ship for DN, and maybe sail etc customization but sailing mechanics are perfect

plain bane

I do not remember this game being so stingey with tar. Dug out 4 pits, had enough for two buildings. Farming the growths from those pits gets me... 8 tar per respawn cycle. πŸ’€

Is there some better way of getting tar I'm not aware of

heady parcel
#

Feels like you can't walk three steps in plains without stepping into a tar pit, in no world I ever played have I ever had any shortage of tar if I needed it. Must be a rough seed - or you just didn't look around enough plains.

plain bane
#

I used find commands to find mine after a week of not finding any tarpits. had two groups of 3, a group of 4, and like, 7 scattered to the wind. Think this seed just had a bad roll.

heady parcel
#

Logically, a buildable tarring fire-pit where you burn corewood to make tar would be a nice thing to get from a later biome, to make it more accessible later on. That's how it was made historically around here anyway..

# hasty citrus What do you guys think about magic as a whole, ashlands grind, mistlands visabil...

Magic - is not my playstyle. I tried and found it underwhelming, frustrating and boring. I'm the kind of player that was smacking kobolds with my staff trying to level a mage in WoW. Just not compatible with magic-wielding.
Ashlands - the grind is no worse than any other place in the game, what makes Ashlands tiring is the relentlessness of the biome, plus the way the environment is torn down around you by its own inhabitants. All put together it gets a bit oppressive when I spend a few days there, so once in Ashlands I tend to take longer breaks from the game or just go somewhere else to regenerate some mojo.
**Mistlands visibility **- it is what gives the biome its name. I have grown very fond of Mistlands, all I'd really want is a way to legit build the dvergr wisp beacons that have a MUCH larger mist-clearing radius than our puny wisplights.
Queen fight - different, scary and fun. It required more strategy and awareness than the ones that came before her, and that she has an actual instanced "boss arena" gave it a special flavour.
Sailing - is one of the best part of the game for me. Now I am an old seaman irl which might have made me biased, but the way the boats interact with waves, how the sea behaves in storms and how some basic sailing tricks are actually doable in-game. I just love it. Can sail around exploring coastlines for hours. I just wish the map-unfogging distance would match what you can actually see. It is frustrating to sail along a coast but on the map it looks as if you crossed an ocean while drunk.

paper marsh
# hasty citrus What do you guys think about magic as a whole, ashlands grind, mistlands visabil...

Sailing is good

I dislike boss fights where the boss envelops themselves in AoE damage preventing you from fighting them with melee (Bonemass, Yag, Fader), but queen is fine

Ashlands grind is fine, but there’s a bit much inventory clutter and fortresses could have so much cooler designs

Mistlands visibility is very cool, it really makes you rely on your hearing. I usually start mistlands without the wisp light

Magic is fun but ridiculously OP and I really wish it would be taken down a notch

I think magic is introduced too late. I feel like it should be integrated into the plains or not treated as a separate class. if I was solo id prolly have done something hybrid yeah im just sitting in the back and blasting πŸ˜„ and griefing my friend tossing him monster on him with vines xD

long peak
#

that was op i can use the blood shield and fire staff and the weapons

merry pebble
#

If you are using magic you really dont need hp food that much, your bubble becomes your hp πŸ™‚

cedar stump
#

mostly concerned for Fader

long peak
cedar stump
#

idk his movesets and ill prolly take some dmg there ig

spare quail
#

Don't remember how bubble works with parrying ? Bubble has set amount of health iirc so I guess that makes sense

long peak
#

my first fader fight was hell

cedar stump
#

but then again ig my buddy will have aggro on him since he is melee

spare quail
#

But then like, how much dmg does bubble take when parrying

#

does total health affect it ?

merry pebble
long peak
cedar stump
#

I kinda wanna try the new weapons for melee but my skills got so low with all my ashlands death now haha I cba training them again

long peak
#

i am interested in this game because of a dream of using axes and fighting stuff like a true viking and the axes are :/ bad

spare quail
cedar stump
#

was like 70 sword in mistland, think im at 15 skill? lol

merry pebble
long peak
#

to be honest over you get over 20 levels very fast

#

and if you are over 30 levels its doing fine except the ashlands

cedar stump
#

We have so many flamemetal

spare quail
#

Gear, gear lvl, HP, lvls

brittle otter
#

all the skills except for bow/crossbow and run/jump have very little effect on combat as opposed to timing and gear level.

spare quail
#

Blocking skill is most important

cedar stump
#

I thought it affected dmg heavily

long peak
#

btw guys i think mining flamatel is meaninglessly risky raiding fortresses is enough and easy for solo players

brittle otter
#

not as much as youd hope tbh

spare quail
#

iirc lvl 100 is like 120% extra dmg ?

brittle otter
#

it is not 120% lmao

cedar stump
#

So many flame metal pillars everywhere too

brittle otter
#

maybe 20%

long peak
merry pebble
cedar stump
#

I might craft a set then and train on fulings and lox haha

spare quail
cedar stump
#

Berserkir looks cool

brittle otter
#

i guess if you meant 140% of stock value and not a 140% increase then yeahj

long peak
#

i dont know i am a light armour user and i had enough even for crafting decorational armors and weapons from few raided castles

spare quail
#

no it's stock +141%

spare quail
long peak
#

btw i think i had 100 lvl clubs with my main chracter with different worlds total of more than 1000 days playing

spare quail
#

Died and lost all the lvls in an hour

spare quail
#

that character is gone

long peak
#

i am seeing a lot of players farming skills

spare quail
#

Current highest character probably has base 30's

#

with some 70's like running and farming

brittle otter
#

yall are right about the increase guess i always thought it was multiplicative not additive*

long peak
#

i dont quite understand them for example on normal settings when i was played on a group i said i dont wanna mine copper and used 3 lvl wooden club until litteral bonemass and my characters skill get to 60

brittle otter
#

just to own up to my mistake lol

spare quail
#

dmg doesn't affect xp gained afaik

long peak
#

especialy knifes you can get 40 level knifes before even entering swamp

brittle otter
#

so .5 per twig/archery target then i guess

merry pebble
spare quail
#

yea that's why wooden arrows are mvps xd

brittle otter
merry pebble
brittle otter
#

i know that one since its new to me lol

cedar stump
#

What's everyone favorite weapon?

dark coyote
#

the look in your eyes

brittle otter
cedar stump
#

Let's say either mist or Ashland endgame weps

merry pebble
brittle otter
#

also if im solo. if youre in a group having someone with a club or atgeir or any big knockback/stun weapon is v nice

merry pebble
#

Bleh, knockback

long peak
# cedar stump What's everyone favorite weapon?

Frostner mistwalker crystal battleaxe and himminafl
most used one ? Frostner
Best Looking Crystal battle axe
having most fun using Himminafl
whic one is the most reliable strong mistw*alker

cedar stump
#

Friend charging his special attack while im knocking back the monster πŸ˜‚

#

Frostner looked pretty dope my friend used it for a loooong time

dark coyote
#

I wish bloodgeon had lifesteal

merry pebble
long peak
brittle otter
cedar stump
#

Frost/spirit oppp my last melee weapon was bm sword for queen then I went full mage

long peak
dark coyote
#

imo, they need to reduce the spirit damage on them, and then make an ashlands upgrade crystal that adds spirit damage

brittle otter
#

that mfer STAYS in my backpack XD

long peak
cedar stump
#

Skele warrior are such a fkg pain they so tanky for us I feel like I tickle them with mage

merry pebble
long peak
#

btw i played the game mostly solo 1300 hours my multiplayer experince maximum 200 hours

dark coyote
brittle otter
long peak
#

and it makes me feel like a veteran tho πŸ˜›

#

i am usualy
Mace , buckler , axe , bow , atgeir , building hammer , and a pickaxe on my load

brittle otter
#

its honestly my go to for fulings, let an archer smoke the spear folks and i can just swing frostner or an atgeir and never get touched. or once you get the black forge, skol and hati can attack fast enough that you can interrupt almost any attack and get a free parry/counter.

long peak
#

like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 numbers it kills the inventory slots tho

cedar stump
#

after over 200+h I just found out you could disable autopick up x)

long peak
brittle otter
#

my inventory always goes:
Main weapon, bow/crossbow, shield, secondary weapon, axe, pickaxe, hoe, hammer.

brittle otter
#

like i said before, its all situational.

long peak
cedar stump
#

always got like 6 staves on me πŸ˜›

merry pebble
#

@dark coyote spirit is exactly why its better imo πŸ™‚ it does a lot more (and more than knockback the slow is more usefull imo but that is mostly just personal hate for knockback which is annoying af)

@brittle otter True with the knockback, as i said above i just reeeeealy dont like it, because while it does knock the enemy far enough they cant reach you, it also means you cant reach it for follow up attack πŸ™‚
And the swing speed is the exact same as swords πŸ˜„

cedar stump
#

didnt bother with troll as I dont like summons that much in group play idk

brittle otter
long peak
#

i am scared of using troll staff accidentaly on my build

brittle otter
#

not getting hit, whether its dodging blocking or whatever is the move from like plains+, so however people achieve THAT is the right answer for me lmao.

cedar stump
#

looks nice for solo taking fortress or anything solo tho

merry pebble
dark coyote
long peak
#

btw is there anyone maxed his clubs XD and hit a greyling with a 100 lvl clubs + flametal mace secondary XD

#

piuvvvvvv

brittle otter
long peak
merry pebble
long peak
#

that was the first thing i tried

#

btw wwhile there is a lot of players wanna ask opinion again adding Blunt damage to battleaxes

#

making it split

merry pebble
#

Meh, wouldnt like it

long peak
#

%80 slash + %20 blunt that would make them more special

spare quail
#

I tried suggesting adding pierce to* 2h sword heavy attack and it wasn't well received so i'm guessing axes are in a similar boat

#

which is silly imo, it's literally a stab

long peak
merry pebble
#

Oh i would be on board for adding pierce to sword secondary or blunt to battleaxe secondary from realism standpoint. But from game balance... It probably better for the weapon dmg type to stay as is.

spare quail
#

yeah, forces you to craft multiple weapons

dark coyote
merry pebble
#

That is not just perk of pierce dmg tho
The blunt would make way more sense in this case

long peak
spare quail
#

Blunt would make sense for secondary because it's hitting with the blunt end of the weapon but like Asatru said, gameplay and what not

long peak
#

iron gate made a game so incredible i didnt play alot of game that has the same potential like valheim

dark coyote
long peak
#

maybe they will make this changes later after 1.0

spare quail
#

they're giving themselves room for new weapons in the mid-game xd

#

some flex 2 style weapons

long peak
#

i think you should experience it in real life to understand it XD

long peak
dark coyote
#

If anythihng blunt should have an armor pen stat and increased stagger effect

long peak
#

i am a kinda mini physicist myself

long peak
#

let me check

merry pebble
#

They do have quite high stagger iirc

long peak
merry pebble
#

if i remember correctly

long peak
#

btw in the wiki iron mace and sword seem to have the same stagger wtf

#

btw i always felt like swords staggering a lot more than they should be

merry pebble
#

Mace secondary has a lot more stagger πŸ™‚

long peak
