btw did devs said anything about how long they keep adding new content after 1.0 i know they said they gonna revisit old biomes but how long ?
i hope as long as the whole 1.0 development that would be nice for us π
They've only stated bug fixes and possible minor content, but no timelines.
π₯Ή
About that we might get more info after 1.0.
Valheim doesn't get abandoned after 1.0, no worries. Deep North will be the last update progression vise, but any minor content in older biomes is possibility they've stated they might want to add.
In some interviews at least.
i hope they add more quest weapons like the ||The Dyrnwyn||
I think they want to add something new to each biome
Is optimization and quality of life updates in mind aswell?
Optimization would fall into bug fix category, or together as bug fixes and optimizing.
QoL probably depends on what devs count as such in Valheim.
Noted
But we will see in the future.
Im hoping more on optimization because my brother's gaming laptop can barely handle the bases I build
QoL update aint too bad aswell
π’
Haven't seen memes about you.
It is not an MMO. It's going to have a defined ending, get a couple polish rounds, and then be done.
no not like more biomes
just more side quest/structeres/mini bosses/foods/etc.
Possible, but not infinite. Would daresay not even extended. They're going to push 1.0 then probably have a meeting about "what did we not get to that we want to add?" And once they get through that list they will be done updating forever and moving on to another project.
Not sure how that is sad?
@tacit crystal NOPE I STILL GET THE RAID
Forced continual updates is what turns great games into shit games.
You get the chills Geirhaffa raid
yeah yeah alright i know
just me being greedy
And didn't return the chest?
Nope the chest I left at the entrance of the cave
Oops wrong ping
@tacit crystal
np
Odd, I've never gotten them by doing that.
I believe the triggerpoint is either you taking the chest or defeating gierhaffa
I think it should only be on kill / chest possession if you have player based raids on
uhm i have guess but not sure tho because i didnt use world modifier as far as i know triggerpoint was returning the chest in that world but maybe if the player based raids option is enabled that can be the cause if you have before
right, i keep forgetting sliders are a thing and some mechanics no longer have one singular way they can work π
shoulda added that
Hey Valheim and people who ever made this you are an absolute giga chad!
Good morning vikings
I have player base raids on
The slider is for enabling/disabling raids. 'Player based raids' makes raid progression change per player instead of for the whole world so it changes some of the triggers.
My friends stopped playing because of Mistlands, any recommendations?
Ah I see
Ok it does make sense
so if I enter a newbie world with player based raid turned off, they get endgame raids too?
Only if you activate the triggers on their world. If you don't kill any bosses or return hildir's chests, nothing will change.
i see
would it be considered a trigger if I were to hang an endgame boss trophy in an early game world
No, only killing the boss changes raids. I wouldn't recommend doing it though because we don't know if beating the game when 1.0 releases will only need the trophies placed or if the bosses need to be killed in that world. If it only needs the trophies, a player could skip that boss if the trophy is already placed by someone else.
Mistlands is so pretty tho #screenshots message
afternoon gjall
i think i should delete a couple messages i sent after i read the rules
pretty annoying ye
Getting prepared with plenty of wisps and there are areas mist free. I love the mistlands
ash gonna be far more annoying where everything can oneshot you
everything?
Everything that can have a 2star fragrance sure
Craft them the mistlands cape
Will probably make them return
I understand the struggles on mistlands, been there too
But over time you get used to it
the weakest mob does what 30 dmg? the charred twitchers. 0 star warriors do over 100
Ashlands - They do the damage, you do the dying
The reward, endgame tools
@merry pebble Found an interesting seed. π±
*pre endgame tools π
And maybe an 2** asksvin aswell
We still have deep north to conquer lads
i hate how it knocks me several meters away
It has the Polaris mountain which is not inside Deep North area, highest peak shows 496. ποΈ
Missed opportunity to ping Winter
@tacit crystal https://medal.tv/games/valheim/clips/lR3svCQex7qSoyRMX
@glossy heath @merry pebble
They're not too hard to capture, hardest part is finding them at night which is already pretty rare and dealing with the assault of mobs chasing you
The bite has 50 knockback, the headbutt has 200 and the pounce has 100
Got raided while fighting the elder, made it so much more fun. Hope these swamp biomes are big enough so I don't have to search for another
Their lunge attacks are very deadly for closing the distance
And can probably even 1 shot a maxed out flametal gear player
How do you see altitude?
I've more-or-less learned the brief windows where you can attack them before they launch an attack
Maybe 2 shot
yea i think that does beat my record!
the pos command shows you your current coordinates
Enable Y coordinate in settings.
numbers are in meters, but if you wanna measure mountains like people do irl, you'll wanna subtract 30 from the height since 0 is the bottom of the ocean and 30 is sea level
We can has pic of highest mountain?
Also it's at the border of Deep North, not inside.
and personally, i exclude rocks and trees from height measuring, i make sure my character is standing on the highest bit of heightmap terrain, even if there's a rock going higher
polaris below deep north is always a nice sight~
especially now that it has to be either fully within deep north or fully outside of it to avoid being chopped down by the newly added ocean trench separating deep north from the rest of the world
-# To clarify, Joel is refering to the website you can input your seeds into and Winter Is refering to a command you can use in-game.
oh wait the site shows you the Y coordinate too? i thought it was just X and Z
and Subject is just wanting a screenshot D:
You have to enable that one like Joel said π
oh that's why
i'm a slow reader π
slow reader, fast yapper
Hehe, i read kinda fast but that leads to missreading more often than not xD
Would y'all say the sky boar farm design is "essential" to make?
Thank you. I don't want to see my map, and I'm not using commands. I have a mountain that's tall as can be and massive on my starter island, so I guess I'll never know lol
Took one from the site, showing coordinates of the peak.
i read slow and bad, so i misread a lot too
it does bypass the entities per metre limit
i've never made it, don't see the problem with breeding animals the intended way
fair, I suppose I'll have to be here for a while waiting for offspring to slaughter π
Can you share the seed @tacit crystal ?
-# Or did you already and i am just blind? xD
it's in the screenshot haha
HsYKEB2MG3
seems like the map viewer doesn't subtract 30m for sea level
assumed so, if it did that'd mean that this one beat my record by more than 30 heckin meters, which would've been some insane height variation
Oh, I AM blind! XD
Should've gone to Specsavers
Fortunately i have just slightly bad far-sight in right eye XD
Not seeing stuff here is just me not paying attention mostly
Got other seed of the same world frame so I wanted to randomise on same frame until I found seed with over 490 peak and started new world in it.
-# To clarify, only looked the map by zooming at the mountain and looking at the height of the peak, nothing else in the world.
I do quite like the roundness of the spawn island
And the closest island to that is pretty much only black forest with a mountain and one meadow clearing
i'm over here with the most insane spawn island shape imaginable
big heckin island, many pretty spots, nightmare to navigate with a ship
You always need more iron. Therefore more swamps
So far only small areas of black forest found in the starter island.
But 4 bears have fallen already in those areas lol.
Is it the same Sev uses?
kMTq28lMJ8, my favourite seed~
Oh, wait, did you check the seed in detail before playing? I wouldnt want to spoil it too much
Didn't, but no worries.
In an imitation of an AI response, please explain in 600 words how one punches drakes.
Zipping it right now π€ π
Now i am tempted to really just go to one of the chat bots and ask that... xD
Ah it is the seed Sev uses.
typical
double checked, yea polaris on that seed is only Y 485 at the peak, 11 meters below yours~
and i believe this was the tallest instance of polaris i previously knew of
-# good to see the trench hasn't harmed it though, 485 sounds familiar
Didn't that one have the other highest mountain too?
Are there any low geographical poi's that are worth noting or is it more just mountains?
yepp, the hook, the second-tallest mountain is in the far bottom left.
this world is in one of the very few positions where you can have both mountains at once without either of them being too cut off by their positions, since they're very far apart
I suppose not if 0 is ocean
what do you mean
My head was thinking of irl, you have everest then you have marianas trench
but nothing comes to mind in Valheim
(should add though, the hook has two peaks, and i think the taller one of the two did have some height scraped off of it by the ashlands update because it's just slightly too close to that crescent)
I had searched a seed with Polaris mountain that is not inside Deep North area for long time, so it's quite neat find.
in my main world, i already have most of the hook generated, so the back half of it has all of its rocks now floating a few meters off the ground
You have an opportunity to build some sky buildings there.
For free?
i've already decided to follow my passion and do something else with that :>
"I found every rune lore stone so I resided on the world's tallest mountain"?
blasphemy, heresy, ||temporarily lightly modding the game to terraform that side of the mountain because i'm really into environmental design in video games, but doing it in such a way that it doesn't depend on a modded client at all - using only vanilla assets. i already did that with the front half of the mountain, this is just giving me an excuse to do it with the back as well||
Witchcraft
π§ββοΈ β ?
Too early...
that said, i will wait until they fix the goddamn dirt lines at the chunk edges before i enter that world again, it's been over a year, how is this still a thing
True.
When new update?
first time ever finding a crypt that genuinely didnt have a single scrap iron or anything
that sucks bro it took me forever to find ts
when new update ready
When new update ready?
That we don't know.
-# When people use their manners
why can crypts genuinely spawn with nothing in them bro π
/update_ready

nah but DAMN
genuinely all 3 paths cut off at their entry
i searched for 3 hours for this one crypt
it's such a low chance that implementing some measure to prevent it from happening at all might be considered wasted effort
still sucks when it does happen, but i think i've only had it happen to me twice in all my time with the game
yeah but dang it sucks when i spent 3 hours searching for one crypt
just for it to have NOTHING
The meme "Literally unplayable" comes to mind π
bad luck combined with more bad luck in a different area π π«
me and my friend went through 8 different swamps
because 7/8 of them didnt have a single one
the one we did find aint even got a crypt really π
and it was just one crypt in that 8th swamp? layer cake of "ooffff"
YEAH LOL
all these swamps me and my friend have found in this seed have been so little
Oh this? #memes-and-clips message

i wish there was a way to implement some sort of varnish for wood so it wouldnt deteriorate outside without a roof
I was lucky to get a maypole on the starter island and the first swamp I went to had plenty of iron, almost 3 chests, and Haldor next to it. but I refuse to check the seed viewer but someone else might wanna look it up
There is in a way. Later on though
It gets damaged but can't break due to weather right?
Water can only damage pieces to 50%
the green is ugly as hell though
i just embrace the rotted appearance and purposefully damage adjacent protected stuff to match the look~
rain/water damage never goes below 50% health so it's only cosmetic
Yeah I thought I read that
then i damage a couple pieces here and there to 25% to add some model variation
i like when stuff looks like it wasn't just built yesterday haha
i like my stuff looking clean and fresh
its just the upkeep needed after a rainy day is ROUGH
that is fair, i may be a little weird about my love for literal ruins
For me it's acceptable on harbor.
yeah it really just depends on location if im fine with it deteriorating or not
The word harbor has me thinking whether I'm playing black flag on ps3 tomorrow
Ah, maybe pier is more what I was meaning.
-# I love that! I would however direct you 1 channel above for posting this
Gotcha, thanks!
What could be the new wood material we get in deep north?
My guess is something like spruce
If they follow the logic they used in the Ashlands (ash wood), it may be something like Ice wood or Frozen wood. But then, with that logic it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was called "North wood".
i wish there was a world modifier to close it maybe they add later at least there is mods for it
Yeah you're not wrong. I fix my stairs to my dock every like 30 minutes lmao
Replace them for stone stairs.
Problem solved.
Can later replace them for Black Marble ones or even Grausten ones as well.
stone stairs dont fit my log cabins vibe
iirc all log cabins had a stone foundation to prevent moist transferring from the ground into the logs.
iirc they also have a chimney made of stone to prevent the cabin to be set ablaze when trying to cook food.
Therefore stone stairs at a docks are quite valid.
are there bigger chests than those 5x2 or w.e it is
Yes.
when the deep north comes out does our saves get overwritten
No, you can use your existing character and world. Keep in mind that any already generated areas won't get the full update though, so stay away from the north.
Fortunately that only applies to people who think it's smart to make comments like that at the official Valheim discord.
Which means the reaquiring is currently done by one person.
I wonder who that may be..... π€
The problem with "jokes" like that is they can be misunderstood. Either because a person doesn't understand that kind of "humor" or because of a language barrier.
So it's simply the smartest thing to do to not make jokes like that.
Because not everyone will see the joke and in the end it's Iron Gate that ends up with the problems, because it's very easy to have a rumor going around about "IG forcing you to rebuy the game once 1.0 launches".
It's a lot harder to get that rumor being countered, as for some stupid reason the negative things will always surface first when questions like that being asked.
some of the people here would make a reddit mod blush, lol
And just for a reference: Just check the internet for "do trolls in the black forrest smell the player."
Damn itβs too expensive for me
Isn't the price of Valheim going to go up after 1.0? IE once its no longer Early Access.
I haven't seen anything about that, so why would it?
slightly
The pumpkin that hunts
Pretty sure I did see it said years ago. Plus, why should it not? IT will finally be a full, complete, game.
They deserve extra $ for all the work they have done. This game is so different than it was a couple year ago
pretty common for early access games to be discounted, and vice-versa early access games increasing in price upon full release
Valheim is the first EA game I ever bought. Just I am also pretty certain I saw one of the developers say the price would increase after it was finished.
Source?
Why doesnt f1 work to edit render limits with the render limits mod
Pretty sure it was here in this Discord. Just it would have been before the crash, or whatever its called.
the steam page says it
Oh? Which part of the page? (I have a hard time reading it due to vision issues)
you will be able to play just like before
I I think we have said the price might go up after 1.0. but it will remain to see
It should, Its a fine game and is certainly worth more than we are currently charged.
Found it under the EA description. Just a single line that's very easily overlooked.
Which is why I hadn't seen it.
I wouldn't have seen it there. I am still pretty sure it was said here. Before the hack, crash, whatever.
Well, I got here after that, so even if it was on here I wouldn't have seen it anyway. Most likely.
I 've been on here since early 2021. Even though I did leave for a while after the hack.
Tested and noted: 1 star bear can be fought quite easily on melee with meadows tier gear, but it takes long. As long as parrying only one paw swipes and dodging other attacks everything is fine.
Dodging does make it easier. Since I only use block and tower shields I have to wait to safely fight starred bears. Or trolls.
I've encountered no trolls in this world I started yesterday, but at least 8 bears (one was starred).
Starter island had only small patches of black forest, only one location had blueberries so took long before getting first bear armor pieces.
I do run into a lot more bears than trolls. Think I am on my 4th world since the bears were added.
Bears have rare spawn frequency and trolls very rare. Although trolls have dedicated spawn locations near and/or inside the troll caves.
Even so you can find empty troll caves. Not often, by any means, but I have gone into empty troll caves. I think they all still had loot, though.
Yeah, not all caves have them.
I see so many I would not describe their frequency as rare. Maybe uncommon, because they are no where near as frequent as the various dwarves.
I've had locations that respawn bears seemingly every time I turn around as well. Not in actuality, but within 20 minutes or so.
Yeah, in that area (inside black circle) I fought 4 bears in short time.
agreed the base in my call to arms update world has 3 different bear spawn points just next to my defansive walls they spawn a lot
and of them is a star bear always it was funny tho
The locations have varied. One time it was by a specific house, another it was by one of the stones held up by the other stones, and you typically find bones under. Then I would go many, many days without seeing any bears at any of those locations. So I guess it was just exceptionally good RNG for a few game days, then really bad RNG. π
i know game has a few different spawn systems like one time only or if it killed in a few days respawning ones
Pretty sure it has only one spawn system. It just comes down to how much chance is going to favor you.
IE luck.
no i know some things can spawn one time only for example mini bosses
They can spawn in an event, though.
So I s'pose you mean they won't respawn at the location they're in after you cleared it out.
yeah yes
Those have events where you see them again, and again, and again. So you can get many copies of their trophies.
yeah i know that
I kind of figured you did, since you have over 1000 hours.
i want a 1000 hours more
Like I mentioned in help, I am over 5200 hours. So if you want it, you will get there.
Thats the sprit π are you planing to have 10 K XD
Very probable. I mean, we aren't even at 1.0 yet.
Slowly climbing at that, just reached 3400 yesterday.
Then, at some point after 1.0, I will start using mods, and there are a few cool mods that will have me replaying this a fair number of times as well.
man i think you will pass 15K too
Heh, fun scenario when having that much hours and if 1.0 adds some very basic achievements like "craft a workbench" or "die to a tree".
π i want a lot of achivements i hope they will
I don't think thats impossible. I do really enjoy this game, and a new world every time I play helps a lot as well.
-# Point was unlocking such achievements after playing that much beforehand.
i have stoped 1300 hours because of working in a job and studying for university killed my free time a bit but i am sure my return will be at least a 500 hundred hours π
Personally I don't care about achievements, even though I do tend to unlock the vast majority of them in games that have them. Just its easy to do in games you like playing anyways.
i love hunting achivements and valheim becamed my favorite game wanna put it in my completionist showcase
π₯Ή
achievements are the biggest scam, but to each thier own.
And conversely, organizing the biggest scam is quite the achievement
i didnt quite understand to be honest
do we have an estimated time for the deep north update? is it this year?
We do not
We don't have definite info about it.
okey! they are doing a very good job so when its comes it will be amazing
just hopw that its not as difficult as ash lands xD i cannot get through it. do we have any tips and tricks for it xD
as i remember there was a spill video that they said deepnorth not gonna be harder nearly a equal to ashlands
It will definitely be hard but not as dense of spawning mobs according to devs... There are many tricks, what are you using currently?
Equipment, foods etc.
we had the staff and mjΓΆlnir and top of the line mistland food
it was a while ago but the density of mobs made it impossible
one of the best advice would be put spawn proffing structures around would help
would fireplaces work for that
hmm maybe just run in and spam them in a big radius
1 star askvins that jump on you was such a nightmare greatfully they smalled their groups
funny enough using light armor and running and not fighting was the my savior in ashlands
i have been finding|| castles and raiding them and looting the blackmetal from there directly|| spoiler
morgen is chaos might be the next thing. just keep the armor from the mountains
havent been in thosoe structures yet π
funny enough root chestplate making morgens vultures archers valkrys a joke
i am usulay putting it in swamp and never removing it except the Yagluth fight
hmm isnt there a combo armour setup you can use to be practically imortal
no never using root chest making you a chewing toy for the askvins
but there is a youtube channel that explains why root chestplate is op as hell
gotta check that out then!
Tossacoint like thing iw was
thanks!
let me check not sure
this there is few other videos i have started to use root armor after mistlands update seeing this mans clip in reddit since than its a only way go for me
ill check it out! thank you!
Quite lucky start: even though that island is small, I encountered two 2 star boars (other I tamed, other killed) and went rafting a bit and found first leviathan, so I have now 2 quality abyssal razor.
holy moly
I love the layout of your starting island. It's like a pokΓ©ball! π€£
do we have any awesome cool seeds btw
Hi guys, i've been farming silver and got my first two stacks smelted, cuz it's hard to get i tried to google what to craft in stead of just trying out everything.
Everyone online is gushing about the draugr fang, is it really that good? I have a lvl 4 huntsmans bow that seems to outdamage it
Fang adds poison damage. In general every new weapon from the next biome is eventually better but also a lot depends on the skill level
I see that but it's 2-4, i assume it goes up with upgrades but it doesn't seem THAT great on paper
whats different about it
My biggest problem with Fang is aiming with it. Its brightness can interfere, especially if you already have vision issues.
haha is it that shiny then?
Okay I can appreciate that
Aside from that it only does slightly more damage. but i find it worth crafting and adjusting to using.
The actual big difference is the Huntsman is quieter. So draws less aggro in an area.
man silver was the second easiest metal to farm if you ask me are you digging its around before you breake the ore ?
Allright I guess I'll get it but I'll get the rest first
My problem is the stupid wolves :L they are so annoying
whic gears and food are you using ?
So the Huntsman can be better in certain situations where you may not want to aggro more than necessary.
they are fast and two shot me even with upgraded iron armor, and every time I step foot in the snow it's "Youre being hunted, loser"
btw i am quite profesional about skipping metal gears i usualy wont craft any heavy armor other than helmets
T3 Iron, t4 hutnsman and a t3 great axe. Sausuge, wolf jerky and black soup
I use Tower Shields, so with the iron version, wolves are not a problem, unless you go at night and get a 2 star.
also iron arrows but I think i'll do something else soon cuz I depleted my swamp and dont want to find another one atm
Your going to need a lot of iron soon anyways.
ahahaha
Yeah I dont mind getting it but im taking a break after a dozen hours of swamp or so haha
man i am quite an expert skipping gears i can definitly say you can skip bow
and only craft 1 silver weapon just for killing the boss
well yeah but i just learned that it glows so i gotta have it now, but maybe last thing I get
I just get it over and done with. So keep going until I have made everything and have 2 wood chests left over. I don't make bigger chests until I have black metal.
dont craft metal headed arrows they are waste
You can definitely skip a bow. Regards: someone who used spear as only ranged weapon in one run.
absoloute chad
schwiko if you say i can dodge very well and parry well
I'm pretty okay at dodging (not wolves though) and was planning on trying out a shield
i would recomend chaing your chestplate with Root harnesk and only crafting silver helmet shield and a frostner or knife or sword gonna be enough
dodging wolves one of the hardest dodge its normal
they quite a bit speedy
Okay i'll try that, thanks, I think i got the materials for the root thing
killing abominations is easy
btw what do you use as a weapon
battle axe (and huntsman)
but tbh not sure if I like it, the - movespeed and stamina use is brutal
although it feels good to smack mobs with it
man battleaxes are the hardest weapon but my favorite π₯Ή
is it your first play ?
I've gotten to the swamp like 2-3 times and usually got distracted by a different game or irl things, this is the first time I got beyond swamp
I got cocky so im playing on hard too haha, im loving the challenge tbh but the mountain is kicking my ass a bit
i can definitly asure that if you use anything else as a weapon game gonna be easier
man you deserve to suffer than ahahaha
Yeah haha maybe
valheim hard mode is not like other games
I'll make a frostner and a shield from this silver then
because game is balanced so tight in normal difficulty any little change making the game drasticaly change
if you want you can skip all of them btw
but it will be harder to survive in plains
frostner is a excelent choice
Yeah it's a little hard sometimes especially the elite draugrs with the bows but it's also fun, the wolves just felt unfair but maybe it's a me + battle axe issue then haha
Okay just made it π
ty for all the advice mate
i hope you can finish aslands with hard difficulty first try
good luck man you are cooked
Hahaha perhaps, can't wait to get there but i think its a long way still
i recomend dont rush i thing its not gonna be fun for your hard run π
https://youtu.be/RnkFQ-Xhhcw?si=D_Yu1uoFuCgGQ59E first time swamp experience
yeah that seems about right π
Great example of how to manage stamina
I hope Valheim updates soon
Not just stamina management, using the enviroment and target priority
that draugr could have killed him
I thought the end was nigh when oozer showed up
the mosquito
my timing is like a slot with a stick
Use a bow
bruh i just died from fall damage slipping down a mountain...
however i just learned a big hammer takes out all the annoying bats@!
this frost cave is HUGE
were you sprinting? you can walk down mountains
i was kinda fighting a golem and it chucked me off the side of a cliff...
wow this cave has multiple extra caverns much bigger
yup, golem will knock you %$# out, especially the spike gut punch one
I dont fight them, I dig a hole and pull them into it
THIS CAVE JUST KEEPS GOING
Ain't they scary?
Take my words soldiers are already a pain to deal with because of how tanky they are
But a 2** star?!
Hell no
lol yeah I was like, no lox cape huh?
and now you're paying for it:)
I mean I wouldnt fight that thing either
nope. I'd just climb up high and shoot him.
be there all day, trying to hit its butt, forget it
best thing outta the mountain: frost arrows. can hit him a lot esier when he's slowed.
Mistlands is managable even with being naked
I love arbalest cant use frost arrowws
I like arbalest too, but I don't like getting yeeted off my rock when I shoot it.
and there's no way I'm staying at the same level as that guy.
Im so used to the mistlands I've gotten to the point of going in for early exploration whilst still having weak gear
is the lox cape any different than the wolf fur cape?
no. Just less silver to craft it.
Just different look and a bit cheaper than wolf fur
I like the speed from fenris.
deliberately have not defeated yagluth yet because were waiting for friends to catch up
thats why im in a frost cave rn
Woot!
YES
d;wajduiawdwa kwlajdaid
cultist trophy finally jesus christ
Ive searched so many frost caves

Wait nooooo its just a frozen lake cave
the tetra lakes are so rare it's crazy.
go defeat Geirhaffa if you're ready. the raid gives you extra cultists to your doorstep.
Its the frozen lake cave
But still quite rare
Free fishing rod
we have raids off on the group server π
they like to afk and we have people of wildly different level
i guess i could go back to my world
For hot second giraffe π¦ was showing up with 2 star fenrig .. i think they nerfed it now it's 1 star only
only 1* in the cave. 2* show up in the raid if you get it.
Now it's 1 star in the raid as well. I think thats the best event.
If only they made deathsquito event
wow i just critical hit a troll for 500 damage...
Bats but 100x
That's odd. I've seen 2* fulings and skeletons in the Zil&Thungr and Brenna raids. Can't imagine they only nerfed Geirhaffa.
Got an Xbox ball from a fortress we lit
root armor and scale shield they do like zero damage
I was surprised as well. Maybe after day 1000 it's nerfed. Who knows ...
Root chest and scale shield stacking is an odd one, I do like it how it works, but yeah the only one that stacks like that
After braving myself and beating a bunch of bears, I finally got the bear trophy (head) but it's not appearing in the Trophy menu. Can that be a bug?
scroll down. it's at the bottom.
all the new stuff from CtA was added in its own row with the serpent.
Oh, wow! Why is that? Ahhh, got it! Time to delete my bug report! lmao
Alrighty time to brave yagluth
Will we have to start a new world when 1.0 comes?
not necessarily. Any areas that have not already been generated will receive the new content. Stay far away from the north and probably leave some other areas unexplored too, just in case, and you should be fine.
The fulings are a bit easier imo to fight compared to the fenrings
fenrings are fast and have a lunge attack
And 2 spell caster
the lunge has an obvious lead up though, just sidestep.
The fenrings will be up in your face at all times lol
Better yet when it starts howling run up to it and whack it on the head
1.0 π
made me a root mask today. is it worth stacking the potion with the helmet, or just the helmet is fine?
resistances don't stack, only the strongest active one applies, but the mead does give a better resistance than the mask (75% vs 50%)
whether or not those 25% are worth it i'd say depends on how fine you are with repeatedly making and packing poison res meads.
personally i skip the mead once i have a mask, unless i'm fighting bonemass
its pretty annoying not gonna lie
fought for my life for 2 obsidian nodes as soon as i could make the frost mead. not a fun time, but since im in the swamp it was worth it
What do you need obsidian for in this case?
To upgrade the workbench early to level 5 which is as high as it goes, which enables max level for troll, root, bear armours etc.
Needs lvl 5 to make root helmet. This starting island has been so so bountiful and easy to navigate. I'm only a smidge into 1 of the 2 swamps and I've found 7 crypts and 4 aboms. Lured one closer to my base right outside to farm lumber for me for coal lol
It's got a mountain high enough for silver right in the middle, and a plains that looks pretty big. Bosses are all far though
Abominations are a great alternative, trolls work aswell especially the troll with a log
EVERY boss and enemy i found seems to target the deer
Deer are just nature's punching bag
Does anyone know of there's any existing testing or data on the timing/hitbox of parrying with various weapons/shields?
Question where do I put the key from the tree again the swamp frickin hates me
So long as itβs in your inventory, youβll be able to unlock the ||sunken crypts in the swamp||
Understandably so
Stealth is your friend in the Swamp.
Just punch em in the face
-That one voiceline from a video game
What do you guys think about magic as a whole, ashlands grind, mistlands visability and boss fight, and sailing?
they are all good
You have no complaints?
no
Magic is awesome, especially in a hybrid build, ashlands grind is a bit short, you can get stuff really quickly, biome should be longer, mistlands visibility when traversing is okay, little extra range could be okay, but also it has the most fun boss I think and hardest in the game, and finding mistfree areas is one of the best things ever in exploration.
Sailing is great, but I would not mind having another new ship for DN, and maybe sail etc customization but sailing mechanics are perfect
I do not remember this game being so stingey with tar. Dug out 4 pits, had enough for two buildings. Farming the growths from those pits gets me... 8 tar per respawn cycle. π
Is there some better way of getting tar I'm not aware of
Feels like you can't walk three steps in plains without stepping into a tar pit, in no world I ever played have I ever had any shortage of tar if I needed it. Must be a rough seed - or you just didn't look around enough plains.
I used find commands to find mine after a week of not finding any tarpits. had two groups of 3, a group of 4, and like, 7 scattered to the wind. Think this seed just had a bad roll.
Logically, a buildable tarring fire-pit where you burn corewood to make tar would be a nice thing to get from a later biome, to make it more accessible later on. That's how it was made historically around here anyway..
Frankly tempted to figure out world upgrade to just reset the things.
have you been draining the tar from the tar pits
when will the update with the far north be released approximately?
Nobody knows. Official info will come from the devs, most likely in the #news channel in here and on their website and other social media. Anything you read anywhere else will be speculation at best.
Deep North will probably be another good way to gather a decent amount of tar since from the looks of the teaser those look like tar roof pieces
Our server seemed low on tar until I decided to check out a sealed tower on the map. Soooo many tar pits there itβs like an oil reserve
Had to clear a triple pit so the growths would stop spawning and nuking me as I climbed the tower
I am encountering a ton of double muddy scrap piles
Mistlands boss fight is ||cool if you dont cheese it||
nothing surprising, swamp is by far the biggest jump in difficult of the game
Magic - is not my playstyle. I tried and found it underwhelming, frustrating and boring. I'm the kind of player that was smacking kobolds with my staff trying to level a mage in WoW. Just not compatible with magic-wielding.
Ashlands - the grind is no worse than any other place in the game, what makes Ashlands tiring is the relentlessness of the biome, plus the way the environment is torn down around you by its own inhabitants. All put together it gets a bit oppressive when I spend a few days there, so once in Ashlands I tend to take longer breaks from the game or just go somewhere else to regenerate some mojo.
**Mistlands visibility **- it is what gives the biome its name. I have grown very fond of Mistlands, all I'd really want is a way to legit build the dvergr wisp beacons that have a MUCH larger mist-clearing radius than our puny wisplights.
Queen fight - different, scary and fun. It required more strategy and awareness than the ones that came before her, and that she has an actual instanced "boss arena" gave it a special flavour.
Sailing - is one of the best part of the game for me. Now I am an old seaman irl which might have made me biased, but the way the boats interact with waves, how the sea behaves in storms and how some basic sailing tricks are actually doable in-game. I just love it. Can sail around exploring coastlines for hours. I just wish the map-unfogging distance would match what you can actually see. It is frustrating to sail along a coast but on the map it looks as if you crossed an ocean while drunk.
Sailing is good
I dislike boss fights where the boss envelops themselves in AoE damage preventing you from fighting them with melee (Bonemass, Yag, Fader), but queen is fine
Ashlands grind is fine, but thereβs a bit much inventory clutter and fortresses could have so much cooler designs
Mistlands visibility is very cool, it really makes you rely on your hearing. I usually start mistlands without the wisp light
Magic is fun but ridiculously OP and I really wish it would be taken down a notch
I have a problem during the game with any character I have. While in the game, if I don't have an item in my hand and press the 'LMB' key, my character starts flying as if something hit them really hard, and they are thrown back about 100-200 meters.
how to fix this
What do you think about those things?
That sounds very weird. Using any mods?
Best I could say would be verify game files or reinstall but not sure if that would help
i really liked magic cuz being a wizard i think is one of the coolest things, i havent made it to the ashlands yet so idk, mistlands visibility is meh but like it makes sense that a place thats full of mist would be hard to see in, i loved the queen fight but it took me like 30 mins, i love sailing but im deathly afraid of serpents
I love having many staves depending on situation, I think my most used one is the wildstaff but my friend im playing with doesnt like it very much when I knockback skele warriors/askvin unto him XD
@tepid prawn i cant find birch in the dark forest right?
yea birch and oak are found in meadows only (birches are also found in the 5th biome)
shipwrecks can be found pretty much anywhere and drop a bunch of fine wood when broken, but trees are more reliable
sigh ill just run back to my base across the island ig
yeah but theyre hard to come across
yepp, was just saying that in case you happened to be near one you knew of
ok but a random question
what am i supposed to do in the swamps? like in the dark forest it was getting bronze and stuff but wb the swamps?(no spoilers if possible)
it might become obvious after you've fought the elder
i only got a swamp key and idk what that does
ah well, it opens a certain important point of interest you're meant to find many of in the swamps, but some swamps end up having not a single one of them
probably just gotta find more swamps, look out for green torches
(though that point of interest isn't the only one with green torches, there are several others with green torches that are useless.)
so its somewhat similar to burial chambers but with locks?
yepp~
i see
what about the food? i was thinking carrot soup bear meat and minced meat sauce tbh
-# oh i'm not good for food advice, i eat the 10th realm equivalent of the stuff you find beside the dumpster π
Keep an eye open for small yellow flowers
ouch
Thereβs also some good food that unlocks after defeating some of the swamp denizens
i see
well since iam expected to die alot ill build a secondary base near the swamps with a portal and stuff
sounds good?
swamp level food requires a level 2 cauldron to be unlocked though, and the first cauldron upgrade isn't discovered as naturally as one might expect, since it requires you to have grown both carrots and the swamps' crop.
just a portal is fine. You can build up in the indestructable trees, or on the tilted ones.
i c
how am i supposed to make this π
wait actually let me watch a vid this is interesting to say the least
the bigger trees in the swamps (the ones that don't say "ancient tree" when you aim at them) are completely indestructible, and like all trees, they count as a foundation to buildings
-# edit: oh rudemann already said that oops
seems to good to be true butttt ill cosnider it
there are several ranged enemies in the swamps so it's not 100% safe but it's as good as it'll get in that biome.
Several ranged and one flying
ok am getting a little bit of spoilers here
-# figured that was too much of a spoiler but i guess the enemy's not that big of a deal π
hi
well if im going to be surprised/shocked id rather experience the entire 100% of it
hello
how is your swamp trip going man ? XD
havent started
not yet
because if i do ill spend the entire day grinding
What is wrong scared π
well yeah because what if my friends wnat me to play sum together
ahhahaha
ill probably grind at night
btw we are making jokes about swamp a lot but if you are a bit carefull you could finish swamp with 1 2 even with no deaths i wish you luck
but i have guesses about whic enemies gonna kill you first XD
personally i think swamps aren't that hard at all, they just pretty abruptly introduce you to a bunch of concepts the game wants you to keep in mind all at once, without pointing any of them out directly
you are just learning from the hard way π
well yaeh ive been told these things like it forces you to learn the fundamentals and what not
so i think we can safely say that swamp is not hard
the hard part is completing swamp without even dying once in your first time without looking anything
i think not looking about the things in swamp from the wiki is harder than swamp at this point after all this jokes
@humble oak did you use the longboat or the Drakkar when you went to ashlands? π€
do withered bones have any use other than bonemass?
You use them in one trinket
After Call to Arms, yes.
Trinket that requires surtling trophy.
so i dont need more then a full stack? im getting so many
you could use them for fun challenges against bonemass like only punch with no armor π
Lolol donβt be like me and my friend. We died our first time going to the swamp.
We went in blind. Died and died repeatedly trying to get our stuff. Maybe took us3 hrs to finally succeed after making multiple boats π
we definitely would have raged quit
But now we laugh about it often
i dont find the swamp to difficult
but as a veteran souls player, parry is ez....and using the land is nice
the wet sucks though
using stam pots like theyre going out of style
mistland was our big struggle at first those gjall aint messing around and we were undergeared abit
Itβs definitely not.. Upgraded armour definitely makes a difference !
root helmet left an extra slot for me too
ashlands hasnt been all that bad ngl, its just alot of moving around the map tho, now we just bring mats for portals all the time for safety when exploring
yeah that part. literally drop a portal no matter what im doing
and I learned to never feel TOO confident and kinda still play it safe haha especially ashlands you can get overwhelmed with the amounts of ennemies sometimes x) I hate warriors so much man plus they keep resetting and running away
feel as though i have quite a long time before i hit ash
ill surely play itslow
i rememeber first time i went to the dark forest i died three times because i treated it like it was the meadows lol
as long asmysword/bow doesnt tickle the npcs there i"should" be fine
Yes.. enjoy the game, enjoy the upgrades and figuring out what you unlocked. No rush to it!
im really loving mace/shield with the bow...and a knife to run around with
lol same.. I saw troll and ran for my life
You arenβt supposed to run with knives!
i think ill hit the swamp tommorow because ireally hate running around
stamina's too low π
I started playing since August. But I wished I took my time. Thereβs a lot of stuff I skipped just to try and get to the next part.
I did enjoy the sailing. 15-30min of just sailing π
I love sailing I just hate the randoms biome generation sometimes its kinda fucked up
yall love sailing?
in the middle of the water nowhere near any land and getting frozen from mountain biome and then landing in a random ashlands biome and dying after 1h+ π
you guys are weird holy
we had to take a break for like a couple months after that one
I like sailing its a perfect time to go smoke while my partner sails us around π and serpent meat goooood
you mean smoke irl orrr
cant smoke in game as far as I know haha
Its so relaxing
i like taking things slow and relaxing~
why are we smoking on the game bro π
or just have that thing where you dump the smoke in idk its name
well 1 its actually creepy especially when its raining 2 its BORING
or my dopamine recievers might be burnt to ash idk
I just love the relaxing atmosphere and music
Its suuuuuuper relaxing for me~
And in rain you have to pay attention, that is true
everyone got their own ig
man every time i read your nick i wanna laugh Puncher of drakes the flying viking
mace pickaxe and buckler are iron lvl 3. is the axe worth upgrading or will a lvl 1 suffice until my next axe?
the iron axe can break all the same things as a bronze axe, it's not a necessary upgrade at all
i think silver axe skippeable
The only benefit of the iron axe is slightly more dmg. So totally skipable π
you dont need it for anything spesific like cutting down a harder tree so iron axe is enough actualy even bronze is enough its totaly optinal
i would recomend upgrade iron axe only if you need more durability or faster wood cutting or you could use 1 lvl iron axe and skip the silver axe totaly
its totaly situational
i usually make the mountains' battleaxe just for the damage upgrade over the bronze axe i use up to that point, just because that battleaxe is made of materials that have far less demand than iron
Silver Axe looking sick tho you will see π
so i would definitly craft it as a decoration at least justice for battleaxes
i dont want to play this game anymore
why ? what happened
ermmm
i got jumped like actually
and this thing
the abomination
IS still after me
bombfire him
jumped by what exactly π there is so
its so fun lol
am still alive though
AHAHAHAHAHA
humanoid things with axes that deal 30 damage ahit
draugr
Yh
yeah first time is hars but you could parry them if you have a shield parrying and killing them is so effective
and game now takes no stamina when you parry op is hell
what shield are you using ?
Parrying then is ez i was just one shot already so i kept dodging
Wooden
first time I landed in the swamps we had an abomination and multiple draugrs on the coast that wrecked our portal and boat haha
btw i could give you an alternative there is weapons named atgeir you could try them
man why didnt you craft bronze buckler
most players fall in love with this weapon
if you make a bronze buckler and eat 2 health food and a stamina food you can parry abominations just saying
Crazy to think that we were once scared to death of abominations, and now every time one spawns all it takes is a parry and a few hits to knock them down
yeah first time killing a abomination felt like qonquering a country
now killing them for fun with flint axe without armor
I enjoy the fact that this game makes you feel powerful but at the same time one slip up and you could be done for
I feel this even more as a mage made of paper when I dont have my bubble up
youre implying that not everything is parriable with a wooden shield?
buns gameβ
when you walk into a Goblin village and see a three star fuling beserker
this games giant enemies gives you an epic feeling
guess what? ionly made a bronze sword to deal with the bears lol i wanted to craft this so bad though
Along with the rest of the army that follows
actualy you can but you have to have very high maximum health and high armour point
i see
well ill continue my swamp venture if you can like vc and tell me what u wanna tell me ill be happy to hear it
so the games parry system a bit complex there is few things effect your maximum parry capacity
your shield strength
your armor points
and your Maximum health (not your current health your maximum "health bar")
as in my experience most important ones are having high maximum health and having a strong shield armor is not that important at least i think because i am using light armors usualy
what does vc means ?
voice chat
btw if we talk in valheim help i think it would be better
alright
ill be focused on the game either way
my speaking ability is not so good i could but it would not be efficient
what the hell is a wraith π
ahahha
alright if youd ont wanna its fine
I miss encountering a new monster for the first time haha id be yelling on discord everytime I saw a new one xD
In my hunt for obsidian to conquer the swamp, I found freaking dragons. Thought it was the coolest thing
Something you should avoid. Especially because it's a night creature and going out at night isn't a good idea in this game.
At least early in the biome and a wooden shield
I really hope in the future updates they'll allow you to shoot while on a mount (Context: Yes you can shoot while on a mount but it ejects you immediately upon firing)
Okay, apparently, bringing all my stuff with me on exploration tour just to die right on an enemy spawner with enemies that are WAY too strong for me was a bad idea.
Now I gotta forge everything again ^^
permadeath ?
I would just rollback a save if you got one near when you died
No normal death, but before trying to retrieve all taht I'll just make it again
i think he might be doing a challenge run ?
oh ahahahah
Can't roll back I'm on a server. I mean I could but it's fine I guess, teaches me a lesson ^
That's cheating though
anyway what is your opinion on trinkets i saw some people say they usuless some say op ?
I guess never thought of it that way, rather reload a save then lose tons of times and effort getting my gear.
Some are very useful even for longer time, some might need little adjustments with the amount of adrenaline needed for triggering.
No way I was gonna reforge stuff and do 2 hours of boat to get my stuff back last time we died on the way to where Queen was.
I think they should all have both a passive and active bonus.
yeah maybe
the game wont let me place forge bellows for some reason
They need to be placed closer than other improvements
I always put it behind the forge for that reason, same with the tanning rack
i saw some players complaining about they cant even activate iron broch how much reality is there i wonder
I use that quite a lot and can constantly trigger it without problems.
like i think if you kill a elite drauger and a abomination i think it would pop
yeah, i should probably take this thing outside and my workbench down to the 1st floor. took over a stone tower in BF right next to a huge mountain and the huge swamp i been farming
great idea, modify the gains by enemy difficulty
but i think some people's waiting to activate it against 2 draugers
They're meant to be more useful in bigger/longer fights, rather than against 1 or 2 mobs occasionally.
and i am feeling like most of them archer players but anyway
my issue is if I need the bonus, I need it at the beginning of the fight, not the end, with the exception of health regen maybe
maybe the ones with very high adrenaline cost get a passive buffs but
Staggering and hitting staggered enemies also grant more adrenaline, so 2h weapons like atgeirs and battleaxes are quite optimal for that.
i had to chance to play until mountains after the call to arms update and black forest charms was activating even i am just killing a single bear but i am not sure i maybe playing on hard modifier but not sure
and usualy using bear claws mostly for trying
i was very interested in bracelets of the brave when i first tried the update but didnt had time to try them
i am a mace player mostly thats why
Yeah I guess its up to preference. Protip though turn down the death penalty worldmodifier to the minimum
same, but parrying is the first thing I do, I dont need that bonus when the fight is almost over, and really I dont need any bonus for single enemy combat, I need help when I'm swarmed or fighting a 2*
I'm also partial to stacks instead of filling a meter
did you tried the bracelets of the brave
i think if its works while you are in a infested mine or ashlands or a fuling camps its good enough or fighthing with a starred berserker / soliders etc
yeah, on my main, the health is nice because that will save you from dots or aoe damage but the other bonuses are wasted by the time it procs, unless you are just constantly fighting mobs
yeah so thats not bad, you can likely chain it, I guess I have more of a full plate assassin playstyle idk
R we gonna see smth for Valheim tommarow on New game+ showcase hehe, what do ya'll think
Deep north release date fo sure
That would be so nice
I would love if that were so but Iβm choosing not to speculate
when its ready β€οΈβπ₯
Considering we have one dev already mentioning he won't be back at work before the 12th, I don't think it's likely we're going to see anything news related tomorrow.
yea, a guy can dream π
same man same
btw guys checked it a bit it seems i have to kill 12 fulings to activate a bracelet of the brave what am i missing does hitting staggered enemies giving more i think somebody said something like it
is there a hidden mechanic like when you have low health you get more adrenaline or so because i remember i was activating a lot
I think magic is introduced too late. I feel like it should be integrated into the plains or not treated as a separate class. I honestly donβt have any thoughts on ashlands grind I was just curious what others thought. I think the mistlands need a tad more visability and could benefit from greater mist prevention. I think the mistlands boss is extremely annoying and too long. Regarding sailing I absolutely love it I just wish they added more stuff to the ocean and something for my friend to do while he sits in the boat.
(I read everyone elseβs replies I just got more replies than expected)
this should be the bronze pendant passive: gain health regen based on your missing stamina
idk i think mistlands boss was pretty balanced even tho she had the help of low fps XD
about the magic i am totaly agreed to it i think it was too late than i didnt even ever used magic still even tho i have played 1300 hours
Queen was the boss that took us the longer for sure, we had to repair our weapons and refresh rested at home lol
i always thought about it would be so cool if they had a quest in frost caves that you learn the Cultist Spels that would have makes sense to be honest
learning the cultist fire bending werewolves magic
i think there could have been lower versions or reverse special versions of the staffs
yeah root staff is black forest, deadraiser: swamp
like you get a special ice staff from defeating the geirrafa
yeah yeahhhhh maybe a abomination boss in black forest ? that made forest his home ?
a mini biome maybe ?
that would be so interesting at least for me
what would the meadows magic weapon be then?
the legendary Deer Raiser
a mini boss harder than deep north boss would have been so fun
an alpha eikthr would be so troll too
summon necks, or bees maybe (poison dot, siingle target)
nuh a deer raiser.
deers don't fight doe
https://youtu.be/nUkBo1347vg?si=gBKW1h_H2zvSA0FV are you sure buddy ?
check this out XD
? ow man i thought the joke was good
maybe a version of dundr because of eikthyr lightnings
:d
meadows is so boring at this point i hope they upgrade it a lot
only boring biome in the game maybe a giant neck mini boss could be funny like every time you kill 100 neck π
a neck size of a troll
It just took too long
yeah maybe
how did i not realize your pp is mordecai unitl now
anyway i think introduciton of magic could have been in mountains it would have given more biome length to mountains
maybe it does not even need a new armor set it could be with fenris too but its already op then i think about it now
hmm
maybe a armor set made by few biomes complex ingredients in mountains
mountain needed caves, like non-instanced proc-gen caves with multiple entrances/exits
maybe fenris feathers and ancient seeds and abomination roots ?
its felt so random
i am sure devs could come up with more reasoneable one
lol. Classic show
I agree
even tho its harm the mistlands but not sure
at least i would have more interested in magic weapons
Mistlands would be great, if it wasn't for that damn mist
man you are asking too much π
Itβs kinda true
yeah kinda a pain but at least you have wisplight/wisp torch the real issue is the mist in like the air/sky that blocks your vision of like gjalls and u get ambushed out of nowhere by one haha
When you hear the trumpet, jump onto a rock above the mist. No biggy.
to be honest i loved the mist seeing a gjall jumosacre wass funny for me my problem was god damn un ending mountains that eat your time and stamina
thing with wisplight is you can't combine it with belt and belt becomes a requirement as soon as you unlock it almost. and torches (when I tried), would get instantly destroyed by any mobs.
I think the wisp light shudnt take an accessory slot. The encumbered item and other stuff is too good. I kinda wish they were perms upgrades
funny enough wisp lights description they say A bound wisp to guide you through the thickest of mists.
Getting around the mistlands feels pretty good, really adds value to feather cape and ratatosk brews
I don't like the mist itself, just giant spinning sprites, no opacity/distance calculation, or very little
like its not an equiped thing its like a loyal friend at least i understand itthat way
never made that feather cape xd now idm mist at all just go there for my sap every day and veggies
no way man
forgot about ratatosk mead ngl! I always use the erhm jump stamina reduce one for my mist sap/farm
that cape is the most qol thing in the game
just makes you glide pmuch right?
I used deer cape from 1st biome until ashland cape π
I disagree, not very useful outside of mistlands, and I never used it in mistlands either
waowwww
In mistlands it's a life changer
doesnt it use eitr tho thats prolly why I didnt bother
Climb the highest peak, jump
I hate farming for soft tissues
nuh man i love building its so usefull
To make it, yes, to use it, no π
only when crafting man you are missing a lot of things
I should go clear some holes in ashlands and make it then
Soft tissue is still used in some ashlands stuff iirc
ye im max mage gear in ashland now
did you ever killed a drake with a pickaxed i did do you know why feather cape is noiceee
Putrid cave gives like 20 soft tissue and a skull gives 100+
guys was the soft tissue unteleporteable ? or something
on the 2 mistland continent I found I alr cleared all the skulls ye
no it's teleportable
Mistlands is great in that regard, everything can be teleported
just need 20 for the cape I think
man you are so interesting for me as the moment i read no fall damage i instantly clicked craft
If you want max lvl then 38, but for lvl1 its 20 refined eitr indeed π
Ye but extra fire damage taken has me taking it off early (as soon as queen is ded)
You have cheap mead for that π
I didnt catch that part ngl D:
I was so focused on getting all the mage gear crafted and staves :3
i am using rootharnesk anyway its not a new thing for me and fire resistance mead is enough
There are better cape options in ashlands anyways imo
Feather cape is really for building and mistlands travel
would just be some qol for my sap/farm run in mistland, but why not! I dont wanna go kill fader right away π already got a port over there
idk i used askvin cape before call to arms it wasnt so good but the ashen cape was good tho as a light armour user it have comed so handy
i think it felt soo good for me because i usualy use as a food easy to farm stuffs like salad or onion soup
hope they buff flametal set bonus
and seeker meat mhmmmmm
its crazy how many sap/magecap I use
and building a lot so i am scared from fall damage especialy i love the mountains biome
what food combo do yall mage use btw? been using 2x eitr with 1x stam
yeah btw main reason i couldnt ever usen mage sets was their food problem
they need to be grinded
Haven't used mage since before the platers so idk what I'd use nowadays
if i could i would have probably used ashlands and mistalands feasts and the maximum either food ?
im wondering if I should swap the stam food for the eitr feast for more hp too, especially for like Fader. and my buddy is melee and usually frontline/tank for me so I dont run all that much
I got like 100-120hp max I think lmao
i have tried a set of Flamatel helmet root harnesk and embla leggings with ashen cape and mistlands and ashlands feast with a health food in ashlands you can use magic and close combat in the same time
As long as you aren't blocking
if I was solo id prolly have done something hybrid yeah im just sitting in the back and blasting π and griefing my friend tossing him monster on him with vines xD
that was op i can use the blood shield and fire staff and the weapons
If you are using magic you really dont need hp food that much, your bubble becomes your hp π
mostly concerned for Fader
nuh i was trying a hybrid kinda thing magic isnt my thing
idk his movesets and ill prolly take some dmg there ig
Don't remember how bubble works with parrying ? Bubble has set amount of health iirc so I guess that makes sense
my first fader fight was hell
but then again ig my buddy will have aggro on him since he is melee
But then like, how much dmg does bubble take when parrying
does total health affect it ?
I tried it for one of my playthroughs and ashlands with it were much easier than with melee, but i do still prefer melee as it is more fun imo π
bubble can be breaked you always parry if you time and you dont get stagger even if you get 5000 damage and you will be untouched and your blocking does not help bubble bubble always takes maximum damage
same
I kinda wanna try the new weapons for melee but my skills got so low with all my ashlands death now haha I cba training them again
i am interested in this game because of a dream of using axes and fighting stuff like a true viking and the axes are :/ bad
yea ok, kinda what I remembered, I like to run 2 max health + Plater with shield. Can parry almost everything
was like 70 sword in mistland, think im at 15 skill? lol
Dont look at the skills too much, sure, they are quite nice to have, but not really of much consequence if you dont π
Things like your gear, food, and skill as a player will always be way more important.
to be honest over you get over 20 levels very fast
and if you are over 30 levels its doing fine except the ashlands
We have so many flamemetal
Depends on a lot of stuff
Gear, gear lvl, HP, lvls
all the skills except for bow/crossbow and run/jump have very little effect on combat as opposed to timing and gear level.
Blocking skill is most important
I thought it affected dmg heavily
btw guys i think mining flamatel is meaninglessly risky raiding fortresses is enough and easy for solo players
not as much as youd hope tbh
iirc lvl 100 is like 120% extra dmg ?
it is not 120% lmao
So many flame metal pillars everywhere too
maybe 20%
funny enough played this game few times in my main character and couldnt even get his blocking to 50 tho its imposible
Up to +141% iirc, which sure is nice, but still can be played without just fine π
I might craft a set then and train on fulings and lox haha
it's 140+% with knockback lol
Berserkir looks cool
i guess if you meant 140% of stock value and not a 140% increase then yeahj
i dont know i am a light armour user and i had enough even for crafting decorational armors and weapons from few raided castles
no it's stock +141%
when mistlands came out I'd sat on a draugr spawner for like 3-4 hours to lvl up blocking xd
btw i think i had 100 lvl clubs with my main chracter with different worlds total of more than 1000 days playing
Died and lost all the lvls in an hour
how much is your level
that character is gone
i am seeing a lot of players farming skills
Current highest character probably has base 30's
with some 70's like running and farming
yall are right about the increase guess i always thought it was multiplicative not additive*
i dont quite understand them for example on normal settings when i was played on a group i said i dont wanna mine copper and used 3 lvl wooden club until litteral bonemass and my characters skill get to 60
just to own up to my mistake lol
dmg doesn't affect xp gained afaik
especialy knifes you can get 40 level knifes before even entering swamp
that is correct, its flat 1.5xp per attack on creature
so .5 per twig/archery target then i guess
-# You wouldnt believe how rare that is these days.
yea that's why wooden arrows are mvps xd
can collect em so i just use what i have lmao
Those should be 0,33xp iirc
its 35% of original value on wiki
i know that one since its new to me lol
What's everyone favorite weapon?
the look in your eyes
really depends on the biome im going into tbh lmao
Let's say either mist or Ashland endgame weps
Yep, you are right indeed, i knew it was around third π but i was too lazy to check
also if im solo. if youre in a group having someone with a club or atgeir or any big knockback/stun weapon is v nice
Bleh, knockback
Frostner mistwalker crystal battleaxe and himminafl
most used one ? Frostner
Best Looking Crystal battle axe
having most fun using Himminafl
whic one is the most reliable strong mistw*alker
Friend charging his special attack while im knocking back the monster π
Frostner looked pretty dope my friend used it for a loooong time
I wish bloodgeon had lifesteal
It is one of the best weapons for biome that is 2 tiers above where you get it π so no surprise there
i am scared they nerf the frost weapons they op dont tell the devs
frostner is such a good weapon.
Frost/spirit oppp my last melee weapon was bm sword for queen then I went full mage
you can used it even in ashlands
imo, they need to reduce the spirit damage on them, and then make an ashlands upgrade crystal that adds spirit damage
oh trust me i carry my hammer everywhere once i get it lol.
that mfer STAYS in my backpack XD
ahahah me too XD
Skele warrior are such a fkg pain they so tanky for us I feel like I tickle them with mage
For ashlands the silver sword is better π
btw i played the game mostly solo 1300 hours my multiplayer experince maximum 200 hours
nah, knockback + spirit dot against warriors is op
but frostner knocks almost every enemy out of their swing reach of you and swings faster than a sword, effectively letting you stunlock anything smaller than an ask/lox/troll etc
so i am usualy using every single weapon on my load myself
and it makes me feel like a veteran tho π
i am usualy
Mace , buckler , axe , bow , atgeir , building hammer , and a pickaxe on my load
its honestly my go to for fulings, let an archer smoke the spear folks and i can just swing frostner or an atgeir and never get touched. or once you get the black forge, skol and hati can attack fast enough that you can interrupt almost any attack and get a free parry/counter.
like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 numbers it kills the inventory slots tho
after over 200+h I just found out you could disable autopick up x)
ehhh using root harnesk you can even dont mind spears
my inventory always goes:
Main weapon, bow/crossbow, shield, secondary weapon, axe, pickaxe, hoe, hammer.
why bother with that when i have an archer though lol
like i said before, its all situational.
yeah you are right
always got like 6 staves on me π
@dark coyote spirit is exactly why its better imo π it does a lot more (and more than knockback the slow is more usefull imo but that is mostly just personal hate for knockback which is annoying af)
@brittle otter True with the knockback, as i said above i just reeeeealy dont like it, because while it does knock the enemy far enough they cant reach you, it also means you cant reach it for follow up attack π
And the swing speed is the exact same as swords π
didnt bother with troll as I dont like summons that much in group play idk
depends on the amount of knockback. if you know what to use against what enemy you can make it so their movement speed and recovery balance with the knockback distance.
i am scared of using troll staff accidentaly on my build
not getting hit, whether its dodging blocking or whatever is the move from like plains+, so however people achieve THAT is the right answer for me lmao.
looks nice for solo taking fortress or anything solo tho
-# From Frostner forward all maces have the same ridiculous ammount of knockback π
yeah I prefer a high dmg, hit n' run, guerilla style of combat
btw is there anyone maxed his clubs XD and hit a greyling with a 100 lvl clubs + flametal mace secondary XD
piuvvvvvv
no but i can imagine its something akin to Babe Ruth lmao
when i get the max level club
The one thing i like knockback for xD
that was the first thing i tried
btw wwhile there is a lot of players wanna ask opinion again adding Blunt damage to battleaxes
making it split
Meh, wouldnt like it
%80 slash + %20 blunt that would make them more special
I tried suggesting adding pierce to* 2h sword heavy attack and it wasn't well received so i'm guessing axes are in a similar boat
which is silly imo, it's literally a stab
definitly agreed
Oh i would be on board for adding pierce to sword secondary or blunt to battleaxe secondary from realism standpoint. But from game balance... It probably better for the weapon dmg type to stay as is.
yeah, forces you to craft multiple weapons
I wwould add pierce, in the sense that an axe produces deep wounds
That is not just perk of pierce dmg tho
The blunt would make way more sense in this case
i thought like its soo heavy so it should effect the enemy
yeah slahs does the same
Blunt would make sense for secondary because it's hitting with the blunt end of the weapon but like Asatru said, gameplay and what not
iron gate made a game so incredible i didnt play alot of game that has the same potential like valheim
yeah but is a 2h sword blunt? its heavy but its definately no blunt damage. The idea of blunt is that it doesnt pierce or rend the flesh, it causes internal trauma.
maybe they will make this changes later after 1.0
they're giving themselves room for new weapons in the mid-game xd
some flex 2 style weapons
i think you should experience it in real life to understand it XD
like think someone hit you with a axe it would make seismic effect on you
If anythihng blunt should have an armor pen stat and increased stagger effect
i am a kinda mini physicist myself
i think plunt weapons already have it but not sure
let me check
They do have quite high stagger iirc
what does iirc mean
if i remember correctly
btw in the wiki iron mace and sword seem to have the same stagger wtf
btw i always felt like swords staggering a lot more than they should be
Mace secondary has a lot more stagger π
i think normal hits should have it too
