Yeah I prefer ground fights. Less damage to towers that way. Except their fire mages. Those idiots will destroy their towers.
Ive seen a Gjall pull a kamikaze and just dive headfirst into the top floor, and proceed to get mercd XD
"What's up Gjall?"
I'll take my leave
Also what does the ice thing by my name mean?
you asked about deep north π
I'm pretty boring. Smiffe only messed with my name once.
That...makes sense
Sadly not
I just stick with the feathered cape. It helps keep me alive more than the others, plus I make loads of fire wine.
How difficult is Moder?
For me, it was the easiest
I just silver sworded and bowed her down
Can you do it easily with max iron gear? or do I really need silver
Just depends on skill. I'd say Iron should be fine
If you're using iron armor, probably best to down a ||ratatosk||, at least if you've found bog witch
Being slow might get you killed from one of her high damage attacks
She is the first boss that starts doing pretty high damage on attacks imo, but her attacks are also generally pretty easy to dodge, and the fight is made so you can use ranged attacks if you're feeling unsafe at parrying/dodging in melee
You can do it VERY easy with cheese, or with moderate ease with a good bow, lots of arrows, and a nice level area to fight her
hey everyone. just picked up the game for christmas. excited to be here ive had this game on my "let it cook" list for a long time
Anyone wanna create a world ?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might. π
I played Valheim even more and I wondered if it was time to update the heavy armor sets because they look the most lackluster.
Is berzerker armor any good
The bear? I'd say so.
heavy is good from wolf onward if you don't mind being slowed down a bit or drink rata mead like there's no tomorrow
and bunny mead
guys how do you guys make defenses near rivers or beaches cause my base is located near it and i dont want any stupid mobs destroying my boat everytime
Cause a U - shaped Wall and moat is pretty good but cant they just swim around it?
Unless enemies can see something they attack on sight over your walls they will not try to swim around them.
Exception being raid enemies since they are always agrroed and dont need line of sight check. But in general just make sure they can see over the walls and you will be fine π
Is mistlands iron farming more viable than crypts? (Ram, trollstav, max pic)
Crypts still grant most iron out of all sources, although some sources in Mistlands are useful too, especially the viaducts.
What worked for me is rushing to crypt chests, ignoring dead end piles, a lot of time saved doing that
Good pickaxe and the piles are gone fast.
so basically i only need to be worried about raids since they will swim over to try and get to me? and destroy everything?
i see welp next run imma find an island and make my base on an island surrounded by water
so my boat will be safe
You can break the boat and put the mats on safety box.
thats true but i tried doing it a bunch of time and i usually lose nails and leather idk
maybe im doing it wrojng
imma try it better next time
You just have to make sure you have enough space and carry weight left when you destroy it π
And you should stand in the middle of the boat and hit the mast to destroy it.
got it thanks
If you put the mats in empty chest it should show how much the mats weight.
Everytime I get to mistlands I forget salad makes x3 and end up with a ton of salad
Making it dedicated server. You can check https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736 for more info.
when do you think will it release
In due time viking, in due time
i need it asap, what if I am dead before it will release?
Then I never got to play it
I... that is how death works I guess
but that sucks
No. Vacuum cleaner sucks.
Life pulls tricks on us to make us stronger.
But I cant be stronger than before if I am dead
At this point I don't think you need the Deep North update.
Potentially some irl~
Well right now I spend all my days going out to drink with my friends, I barely spend time online anymore. However that will change once the deep north drops
Ill turn my room into a bunker
Im seeing dvergers but no base
They roam the Mistlands too.
Yeah, random spawns or the ones that spawn near big wisp lanterns.
Should I kill them?
Depends. They can be helpful against other mobs in Mistlands.
But there is something you need from their camps/towers.
There's not really a need to.
The only locations where they "must" be killed are at their towers and at the excavation sites, as that's where you can find the extractors.
And when you play things smart, there isn't even a need for that, because you can use some things of the environment doing it for you.
Ok, sweet. I didnt know I had to for the extractor I thought i would come across it in their chests
I've been stitched up...
Either letting other mobs deal with them or somehow getting their wards or the special boxes destroyed is safe way to get the extractors Thorin mentioned.
Or deal with them by yourself.
And where do you think the chests are?
Somewhere walking along in Mistlands?
That's not what was said?
Is there any point in going to the current deep north in my save?
If you want to catch the fish to place on wall or for fishing hat.
Ok Ty π
Just hit day 420
You could go to very edge area at most East/West area which probably won't get affected by much from the update.
Ok
Are there any plans for having an east and west biome like the deep north and ashlands
No, there will not be new biomes added.
Ok
Deep East π₯·
Deep West π€
Shallow East, flat west.
Greydawf cowboys
Me: βman a cowboy-themed Valheim would freaking slap!β
Also me: βyou mean rdr2?β
Original Me: βShut up me thatβs not even the same!β
Greydawf couldn't be much more then tumbleweed tbf
They don't do enough damage to be a cactus
True, but tumbleweeds would have a speed boost
Trolls arenβt normally found in West mythology. You have things like thunderbirds, jackalopes, maybe chupacabra even though thatβs from Mexico & Puerto Rico
guys
Guys.
Guys.
YβALLheim π€£ π€£ π€£ π€£
Woah
I just buy this game, what thing I should do first?
And galls?
Hit "Play"
Create a character
Hey! Welcome to your new life!
First thing is to take it all in at your own pace, and listen to the bird
no no no π I mean, what thing I MUST do first
You don't have to do anything
Build a passable shelter, but other than that the world is your mead hall!
Just go at your own pace and the bird should tell you enough
yeah, I built a house 3x4, have roof, torch
If you are very stuck you can watch a spoiler free starter guide
which one? the black bird?
okayyyy
Yeah donβt listen to the seagulls
theyβre full of nonsense and feathers
Those feathers are useful tho if you can hunt some
uhhh, yellow bar at bottom, how can I increase it?
Stamina. Everything you do costs stamina, when you run out you can't do anything. It regenerates when you don't spend it. Eating food gives you more stamina to spend. Resting (by a fire) gives you a buff that makes stamina and health regenerate faster. Keep that buff up all the time.
obliterator will come very handy because ashlands already gave us a half black metal chest worth of charred bones
The Rite of Passage pt 1: die to a falling tree.

nah I'm really dead by it π
just happened
Rite of Passage achieved.
Pt. 2 would be dying to a different log... ||that someone holds||... Maybe. π
which one?
Don't think too much, gather everything you can and make some nice starter weapons, hunt animals etc.
Also, welcome.
Nope, pt 2 is dying of stepping in your own campfire.
Pt 3 is falling of your roof.
Pt 3 dying to smoke
I killed my first serpent! Even managed to kill it out at sea and still get a couple of scales and a trophy
the first serpent encounter is the most exciting, we didnt know they existed and the panic trying to run to shore, the scale shield was a trophy i still hang up to this day
We found our first serpent basically after the elder sailing to our first swamp. It was close to shore but the shore was a plains biome so we didn't land there for obvious reasons. But we had accidentally lured out a deathsquito that agroed onto the sea serpent and they started fighting echover saving us
next time bring it on land and loot the rest π
I died is was reborn on another continent, there is no portal to return
i hate my life
That's an example of why they suggest making beds and claiming them during the game start up.
You didn't build your entire base right on top of spawn?
I have a bed, but I had the spawn on the old bed
Water recovery is the easiest.
Could always ask someone to hop in your world for an escort
I was going back to get my items on the other continent
The serpent won't be there. Sail during the day and get no rains and you won't get another serpent.
Given it was night spawn serpent.
I'm on the initial boat, it takes 1 full day to cross the ocean
π I just have bad luck in this game
There has to be land you can stop at along the way. Do you not have portal mats?
I lost everything, it's all on the other side of the ocean
Oh, so you don't have spares. Yeah that does suck.
I only have a boat and a dream
You have more than you started with. At least you don't have to use rafts.
well now I don't even have the boat
I'M USING RAFTS π
You said boat! π π
I didn't notice, I'm so exhausted
raft is the first boat
Well hopefully your starter area is big enough to provide you with more mats. One thing about survival games is gather as much extra supplies as you can find.
I was trying to get my items back from the crypts before all this happened
then I was already poor and exhausted
two hells
What biome did you die in, the first time? Besides ocean.
swamp, I lost the main items and the extra items
Well, at least it's not the plains next to a village.
Swamps are horrible too
there's always a way to get worse
Yep. I've died plenty of times in swamps.
I died and was taken to another continent
that's suck
and it tires me
Yeah, closest I have come to that is the ocean. When I land in new areas, first thing I do is put up a portal.
I had a portal and I changed it temporarily, but I died
Of course the last thing I do is land in swamps. Unless I am already in iron gear.
good tip
If I could just get there π
This game takes your smile away for weeks
but I'm a masochist
? I have smiled for like... 90%+ of my playtime.
A good trait to have for survival games. π
Are you a masochist?
fr
That is a can of worms best left unopened.
loll
Others: "There is a faster way to do anything."
Me: "But this is the fun way"
Also that way :
Takes 3x as long and drains 10x the sanity
So Valheim is perfect for you.
No.
liar
Good talk.
I coulda used the big stone blocks for my castle walls. But nope. I interlaced them with just 2x1s, 1x1s, and pillars, for a full height of 12 layers and over 1500m in total length, by hand
I spent over 14 hrs on just a wall. and im proud of it
Yeah, I'm too obsessive over mats to do that.
I have to make efficient use of them.
Have the devs officially said no to trap doors / floor doors?
AFAIK it's not being rejected 'officially', but you may do a search in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202313314856603658 as it has been suggested a few dozen times by now.
ts game is so beautiful π₯Ή
I love valheim visuals
makes me cry tears of joy π₯Ή
I love this game so much
"the first boat" you mean the raft? That is for emergencies only.
Never leave home, especially sailing, without portal mats, plant it when you make landfall.
Do you have bronze yet?
Everything about it is beautiful and jolly
I'm just trying to get my items back so the raft
I'm already in the swamp, I lost my items there
well twice
We have like 13 portals scattered we make so many
it exists in mods,|| finewoodpeices|| for example, but the problem is that anything modded can't be seen by someone without the mod installed
A new friend just started so I joined their world and helping them "catch up" so they can help us fight yagluth. Just got them to bronze
Kinda funny joining them with maxed out plains gear as they're just starting out.
Sure we could just give them everything but what's the fun in that
can I join? π π
they started their own world. so i just hopped in theirs
#1024264966712340510 theres many
oh I thought it wass you and santts
loll
Yeah the only mod I'll ever use in Valheim is the thing that gives me a grid for farming. I appreciate the suggestion though.
The server is vanilla but we do use client side mods
What client side mods do you use?
Render mod for better performance can see the whole horizon now and makes it look so much better seeing mountains super far off. and cosmetic stuff
Gods below, my usage of frost arrows in Ashlands is not sustainable
Gonna have to dial it down and only use them on starred things and morgen/valkyries
I had a chest full of them, in just a few days it is depleted entirely
I don't even use them in Ashlands. I can see why people would use them. I just use Ash arrows, since they become so plentiful.
Since all mobs resist pierce, the frost arrows are the ones that do most damage - but most of all the slow is VERY handy when up against starred warriors and the like
But I'm going to have to swap to cheaper arrows except vs the biggest baddies
or to another weapon entirely

Oh I bonk them up close as much as possible, but Ashlands has a tendency to spam swarms of enemies in waves, and when that happens I toss some frost arrows around and run like brave Sir Robin
Not healthy to stay in melee range when three, four or more warriors are converging on you
Does the Atgeir secondary deal Pierce damage as well?
Secondary attacks can only multiply damage, they always deal the same damage types
otherwise against many enemies only one attack on your weapon would be viable
idk why but it took me ages to get in here lmao, does anyone have suggestions for server hosting with modding support?
What kind of suggestion are you looking for?
As in, how to host a modded server? Or what exactly? For example, I play lightly modded and playing with other people is never a problem. I only play with friends though
The seekers or the dvergr?
seekers lol
Very nice
Sometimes the seekers win if they come in with a nice flying attack or the dvergr get confused and miss their shots
But I hate the poor dwarven fellas dying, theyβre so cool
Sweeet somehow from the bottom the destroyed my extractor crate so I get it ez. A dvergr mustve shot it
I used to use G Portal, but my most recent experience was noticeably lower quality, so not sure if you would like them, but they do support using mods.
can u tame boars if theyre inside a house?
If they had a fire mage, it was probably him. They like to destroy everything.
Yes.
Thats how I most often do it, to keep them safe.
Just don't have any fires near by, until tamed. I think they still get terrified by fires.
They used to get terrified even after being tamed.
haha got suspended for trying to send an img link lol
how long do they take to breed?
Breeding takes 30 minutes if it all goes smoothly. There is a mead that cuts that down to 15 minutes. I think its called Animal Whispers.
Those numbers are for taming.
Oh, yeah. I am distracted chatting with my kids. π
Taken from wiki:
"Breeding is checked every 30 seconds. Creatures gain a love point if the following conditions are true:
- Random roll of 33% succeeds.
- The creature is not hungry.
- The creature is not alerted (no red exclamation mark).
- Total number of creatures and offspring is less than the limit (including the creature itself).
- Suitable partner exists nearby (tamed, not hungry, not pregnant).
- The area is active (any player within ~64 meters, exact distance depends on the underlying zone system).
Successful love point is indicated by pink hearts. After gaining enough love points, the creature becomes pregnant, which is not visualized. After a set time, the creature gives birth, visualized by a red cloud."
TL;DR: it can take few minutes to them starting to have offsprings as long as there are at least 2 of them, they're not hungry or alerted and are close to each other. Player proximity is required.
The area limit is real close to 10 square meters. So I put a pair per "house" that I build for them.
Then separate the pairs by that much, if I am not making a factory. Which I only do on servers with many players.
went in the steamroom earlier. Could tell fs thats what inspired mistlands
TF WAS THAT??? BONE MAW???? GAME WHYYYYYYY
You were chosen by the All Father to brave these harsh conditions.
tbf I was also playing an altered experience, and it was the size of one of the ocean spikes in the ashlands XD
"playing an altered experience" makes it sound like you were partaking of something πΉ πβπ«
whoever made the morgen, you made a dope monster, but by god does my anxiety hate you
Its not all that bad when its by itself. At least not with the BM Tower Shield.
well ya see, I had an arbalest, and a dwarven claymore....
Yeah, those are not ideal for a Morgen.
and in that tiny space? it was like resident evil all over again
Inside their cave? I own them in there. Think I usually used Mistwalker too.
quick question....if I kill fader, will ashlands mobs start showing up at night?
I have a question too lol. Im looking for a server to play on thats pretty active and talkative of course. Does anyone know of any I could join?
I actually didn't mind using the arbalest initially against them, they roll enough that there is plenty of time to reload/focus on dodges. But yeah when out in the open and other thugs join the fight def ain't the best.
Yep. Not sure what it is, though. I didn't play long enough to find out.
my boat keeps vibrating around... wtf how do i fix it
as long as it isnt valkeries or askvins im good
I don't mind askvins, but valks scared the shit outta me especially when I'm not expecting them. They just move so fast
Should be just warriors. Maybe even the weaker guys.
Twitchers?
Yes but it'll also disable the Ashlands raid, and not add new raids since deep north isnt out yet
fine by me!
well yes, but that is until my altered experience kicks in and everything that spawns at night is a guaranteed MINIMUM of 8 stars π
Oh god, have you even played through it vanilla yet?
ye, just not ashlands, played it years ago, before mistlands change. got bored quick. so mods. and it has not dissapointed XD
π that's a shame you didn't turn that into feedback and went right to mods
I play A LOT of games, if I dont feel it I dont feel it. Doesnt mean the games are good or bad, just not my taste. and sometimes mods change that for the better, or worse. Ive played a game similiar to this game and liked it, and went to mod it and it ruined it.
I like when games are made by a dev team because THEY like the game, not cause they try to make as many people like it as they can. I like when devs play to their niche!
this game does that well, just at that point in time, I didnt enjoy it. Now I do. put in over 100hrs in 2 weeks XD
time for my annual lamentation that 2h sword alt attack isn't pierce damage
do you guys think its worth maining atgeirs through the game including the ashlands when playing with a group? the staggering with the secondary is pretty crazy. i feel like it can be good in conjuction with a mage lategame
been wanting to branch off from traditional "meta" weapon classes
while some things are stronger than others, pretty much anything is viable with a bit of extra effort
imo pierce is a worse dmg type than slash so i'll take the slash
yea frostner is fucking goated
guys is black soup insane?
I am insane
Same
Only warriors or archers.
do boars respawn at runestones? or only a 1 time spawn
Only 1 time spawn π
the best feeling in this game is game is going up to the troll bastards that have been harrasing you since black forrest
parrying them with a spear and watching their shocked expression as you turn them into pin cussions.
My favorite thing is setting up a ring of balistas around a boss alter. Set to that boss, and watching it melt melt away
Slap them with atgeir and stab stab stab π
Dont give thm even chance to swing
Or backstab damage with knife.

Copper knife damages a lot, Abyssal razor can oneshot.
Maybe not? I've at least used quality 2 razor usually.
Abyssal razor is super good especially if you get lucky and find leviathans early. π
We found 1 relatively early but we didn't know the reset strat until after when we looked it up on the wiki
Ah, well the game is in early access, and perhaps what you didn't enjoy could've resulted in invaluable feedback, as it is still in testing phases. I understand trying to respect the vision, but the developers are flexible to a degree as we've seen many times.
how viable is unarmed (will i have to switch to another weapon to progress)?
Unarmed trains the punching skill which isn't very viable because of the little damage but there are weapons later on that train the same skill if you wanna keep using punching skill
-# tell me if you wanna know a relatively early weapon you can use
thanks, i know there are the bear paws, flesh rippers and the vile bear paws, am i missing any?
No shame in not exploiting glitches
Ik
We didn't know about the glitch and we both said simultaneously we would do the glitch next time
Fact.
But still some of the pierce weapons are some of the most Powerful weapons in the game
Bows are the only Peirce weapon I use atm
I use my duos hand me downs from his bows because he has better aim then me
I just go out hunting sometimes
Bows are the most busted weapon in the game imo
Closely followed by atgeirs
bows for sure are, nothing benefits from skill levels as much as bows
I take agro because I am good at parrying and my friend dishes out most of the damage with bows
Man I am eating through so many chests of stone
the stone construction experience
Yeah its my first time and I might have tried to go too big
think i've used like 300k for my main base and it's not even done yet, been saving up stone for hundreds of hours of playtime before i even started building that because i knew it was gonna vacuum it up like it's nothing.
i am physically incapable of walking by a rock without picking it up
Well i'm looking at my full stone floor thinking about picking it up and having wood instead
Do you use the troll mead whatever it's called to carry more stone?
I think we have about 500 in piles arround my base
We kinda just stick them wherever they fit
i haven't continued working on it since before troll mead was added
I just go and sticka cart in the black forest and fill it with stone
Ok
Is a cart worth it
I was making a big trade route
A bit like the silk road
For iron transport and stuff
I found it quite helpful simply to use it as a bigger chest lol
And then portal a full inventory to my build
I made an open plan tent and filled it with chests
It has no walks just poles in the corner
I think it's a 2x7
In 2m floors
Fist weapons are great, bear paws deal good damage at that stage of the game and are great till mountains when used right. Kick secondary attack has 6x stagger multiplier which can stagger even bigger foes quite easily like abominations in swamps or fuling berserkers in plains. And their primary attack being 2 hit combo each other attack deal 2x damage.
Also, Vilebone Maulclaws dealing mostly pierce and slightly slash, they're great for hunting lox: #memes-and-clips message
dude I just got jumped by a wolf by standing too close to a mountain lol
Surprised I survived that I was eating carrots, honey and yellow mushrooms π
Suggestion: make better foods ASAP.
I have food but I've probably spent that last 15 hours farming stone and building so i've just been using cheap stam food
I've not been to the mountains yet but I have lots of wolf pelt lol
Also are greydwarf farms any good or am I better off just mining stone?
Idk but I think they would be good as a passive while your at your base
Depends, when built properly it continues producing wood/stone/others but requires being in same area.
Thought that might be the case, I dont think theres a spawner close to anywhere I spend time
What is everyone else planning once 1.0 drops in terms of worlds?
I'm currently weighing the merits of carrying our current one over (since we specifically didn't go north to prevent world-gen), and starting a new persistent final world in case there were generation tweaks.
With how massive some of the builds we did were (weeks of work) it's a hard thought to just start again. But I'm really hoping some of the generation issues are addressed with 1.0. Specifically the Ashlands lag. And from what I understand with that, it's something that is fixed with an engine update. I don't know if that would require new world-gen.
I think we might go the route of a massive "migration to new lands".
it probably would require newly generated areas otherwise there would be a very obvious difference between old and new generation
like with minecraft generation (it would not be as drastic as it is with minecraft) you might see huge and very sudden terrain changes
Any terrain changes should mainly happen in Deep North area.
Yeah. There may also be some other small changes elsewhere too that I didn't want to forget. Like the ||skeleton arenas|| and other small immersion bits.
Mistlands update affected to terrain in Mistlands areas (and slightly the neighboring borders), Ashlands update in Ashlands biome plus the Ashlands and Deep North border areas to form ocean gaps between them and the other biomes.
Terrain height isnβt saved to the world so it wonβt change for finished biomes in old worlds.
Itβs calculated whenever a zone is reloaded
Already explored areas remain unchanged, new POIs are added in unexplored areas.
Yeah, in the current world we're in though we do have a Mystland's island that is pretty much touching ice though. So maybe itd be best to start new
Yup, I understand that.
Oh thats neat, I didn't know that though
As the Ashlands update already created the ocean gap areas between Deep North and other biomes that gap area probably will remain unchanged.
If the world gen form terrain as islands in Deep North similarly like Ashlands update did in Ashlands biome (which pushed landmass further South) then being now in border area might not affect too much of the land part deeper.
That would solve that issue. It would also be a nice disconnect. Make it seem like the area is just all ice flows
But that remains to be seen. At least in one older world I've been in Ashlands biome border before the update and revealing that area beforehand didn't reach to the land deeper South.
Gotcha, so it may just be stuff that hasn't been actually loaded as explored. So the "New Biome Overlay Text" is driven by physical location on the world not what is actually loaded.
The explored areas won't get new content/POIs but world gen can still affect to the terrain in that area.
Got it. (Then I'm really hoping the Ashlands thing gets resolved.)
We're going to do one last Grand Voyage.
Afaik the lag in Ashlands is mostly because of game engine bug.
That was my understanding too
It's since been patched, but Valheim from what I understand hasn't implemented it yet
From what I've read it was actually found initially because of Valheim bug reports
Yeah, that is the case.
And our fantastic playerbase
Not me, im just hitting rocks
I suppose we'll see if that fixes it then once the patch hits the masses.
We'll probably find another limit to the engine!
Im gonna try and tame a wolf since they keep coming down to attack me anyway
Probably gonna make a new world for a fresh playthrough with a buddy, especially as I can earn the achievements one by one that way
I got 2 wolves trapped π
The sound effects in the mistlands gives my the ebeegeebeez
This'll be our 4th, and possibly final playthru from Meadows -> endgame
We did it for Mystlands, Ashlands, then Ashlands again. Both the Ashlands runs we haven't even finished tbh.
There are 8 of us, and we schedule it so minimum 5 are needed to do progression related things.
And every time we hit Ashlands its just a struggle bus
Better not log into any older game, if you want to do that.
You never know if the achievement triggering will be loaded up based upon all your progression.
Meaning the moment you load up an older game, a lot of achievements may trigger even before you're aware of getting them. And thus never being able to even have that feeling of achievement the moment you get one.
it will probably be so you need to re-kill a boss or re-do some things to unlock achivements
since we probably will make some things easier and some things harder to achive
hence it will be... the same for everyone when they unlock an achivement
is there a limit to how far down you can dig?
oh ok
same when you want to raise the ground. 8 meter up
why is there a limit?
performance and angles
ah
the ground stretches already so it looks kinda bad
and the angle it creates isn't pretty either
and no. you cannot make tunnels
(incase you where wondering)
no i was just trying to mine out a big copper deposit lol
ah
Just joining in the conversation, I kinda like the digging limit, forces the player to be creativ and plan ahead when building
btw. everything that ends up below the ground, because things can. will self-explode when it doesn't have any connection to the ground "above"
limitation feeds creativity
"how can I work around these limitations" is a very common thing π
Only thing that bugs me are the tiny ones like needing it to be a tiny bit deeper or that deep copper deposit that stozzeer mentioned aswell
that's when you just vigiourusly slam the pickaxe all over the place where the old copper use to be, and it will eventually explode from under the "world"
I would love to adjust the size of copper nodes so they never will go below the "world"
but we shall see if we got time for that

I think, therefore I bonk.
Trolls actually be like:
"Me not think. Me just smash."
I bonk, therefore i think
STR/INT builds be like.
I do understand that, and devs being open to feedback is awesome. Im just really picky and fickle XD. What I like from games constantly changes, and what makes a "good experience" can be completely different in just a few months. So I play, or I mod, and if that doesnt work. I move on. I will take that into consideration thoughπ
Hey, am I seeing things or do vultures occasionally swoop down and grab fish?
Sorry, vOltures
Their patrol animation has them swoop and dive; I've never seen them pick up a fish though
Might have been an extremely cool co-incidence of volture diving and a magmafish jumping. Looked like the volture grabbed it from the sea and the dropped it from a height
Wonder if this game is dropping this year for ps5
Bet it won't
Next year march I reckon
In 2025, definitely not. In 2026, quite likely since the trailer said as much.
"Devs never tell the truth
There's 3 days left of "this year" so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and saaaaay....NO.
Seeing as 2025 has just three days left to it that's nothing to fret over...
It would be cool if it was the 1st of Jan lol
But march isn't too far first quarter for sure
I've been wanting this game since it was released but when I heard it was only on Xbox I was down hearted lol
Yea Sony is not keen on Early Access, holds some titles back from that market a good while
Well let me mend your broken heart
Itβs not just on Xbox, itβs on pc too!
Why does soft tissue look like delicious tofu?
You think that looks like tofu?
Lol I'm not into pc just good old playstation.but I appreciate you
To trick pesky vegetarians into eating braaaains
Fair, I had a lot of good times on the PS 2 and 3
I guess it kind of looks like fried tofu.
Only game I'd love to see return ina full remastered is tenchu.miss my ninja stealth game
I have an aging PS4 that I activate like once every three months or so to play a few games of football (the game that is no longer called FIFA)
Lol FIFA I've always been rubbish at that
My bro could score against me from halfway line lol
I gave up on consoles about 15 years ago. I just put all my spare money into computers.
Only game I can wrap my M+KB-wired brain around playing on a controller
Good for you. It's all in ones taste really
Now, if next generation PS could just bridge the gap and run PC games I'd be all over it. The cost of building an acceptably capable gaming PC has gone absolutely bonkers
I'm a casual gamer so I don't need a pc but all the games I like are on pc lol
Well, consoles can't do everything computers can, but computers can do everything consoles can, and better.
Yeh it's expensive for sure ps is getting close though I reckon ps7 will be as powerful as a high end pc
Pc is good to have if you're using it for many things. But if it's just gaming you're wasting the pc really.
helloo I just got Valheim yesterday
damn
Only kidding
Yeah, I used to buy consoles and computers. Then I realized I should just put all my money into computers.
Congratulations! Now enjoy, don't watch too many spoilers and don't rush, enjoy learning the game - it's the best part!
yep that's what I've been doing
Yeah, definitely take your time. You only get to play Valheim for the first time, the first time.
Yeh games like this are awesome. I like playing Vrising too I love surviving games like green hell
I do that with all my games I think even the multiplayer ones and no one seems to understand lol
I spent over 1500 game days on my first world. When it only went up to plains. I still went too fast. π
At first it was a bit jarring but as I played I started really liking it
I like it because you can hit rocks
so far I've just been walking around mapping out my world and I haphazardly built a little house
Nice
I like making fantasy maps so I've just been naming random landmarks for fun
Building is why I spent so much time playing. Built my base, built my marina, restored a crap ton of towers and expanded them. Made roads between all of them.
I found a mist free valley I might have to make a home in #screenshots message
Oh yeah, gorgeous location.
Its rare to get all the elements you'd like to have.
I just opened the game now and it's stuttering for some reason, didn't experience that before
dropped framerate and graphics and it's still stuttering hm
If you check the #valheim-help channels there are tons of tricks to troubleshoot that. Usually gpu drivers or some other hardware shenanigans
Game should run fine on pretty much any potato pc, depending on settings
I've been playing it on a 2014 i7 with 16 gb RAM and and old GTX 1070 and had smooth framerates at 1440p and high detail. So it is not a demanding game - but bad drivers and suchlike can really be noticeable
my pc was mid to high range for its time a few years ago
i just restarted my pc and it's running fine at max settings now π€·
Computer shenanigans
Since developers are on holiday during that time, the chances are 0% for the Deep North release.
Yeah January 1st is the ultimate hungover pizza day, pretty much nobody in this country not in healthcare/police/military or restaurant business will work that day...
(to drastically over-simplify things, but yeah the likelyhood of a games company doing their 1.0 release on January 1st does not even exist)
As Smiffe indicated hours ago, they are doing much more than usual in house as far as testing, plus a whole lot more, because this is 1.0. So now I am thinking we won't get 1.0 until June, at best. Probably more like September, or even later.
I could just sit in this meadow beside my house for hours this game is beautiful
Until you get to the Ashlands, anyways. Its hideous.
idk, i find ashlands pretty nice-looking for a game's obligatory hot area - deserts, volcanoes, they're always ugly as hell
I've lived in deserts. Still own a home in one. They have their own beauty. Ashlands is just pure ugly.
So they did a great job at making ugly be ugly. π
To be honest I would be fine with it not dropping until next Christmas, just as long as it delivers the same quality and polish as previous updates, with some extra 1.0 balancing and polish on top as icing on the cake. Better it is ready when released than they cave in to the Howling Hounds and release too early.
hmm I'll be the judge of that!
i love ruins so i'm a bit biased, ashlands are the most ruin-dense biome yet
The ruins are the closest thing to looking pretty that it gets there.
Then the Morgen destroys them all. π
ashlands do have a bit of a problem with most of the scenery being super temporary
I love the ruins there - but I do not love how the locals do their damndest to raze them to the ground. Any area you travel regularly will sooner or later become a desert. The area around my base looks like the no-mans-land between the trenches in WWI...
for a place that's meant to be an endless battlefield, they sure suddenly start destroying themselves as soon as the player sets foot in them for the first time
It got better my last play through, but that was because I got better at killing everything with minimal damage to the area.
Yeah I'm poaching blobs when they're not next to trees or ruins now
the trees still bother me the most
if the ember rain damages the woods that easily and none of the trees ever regrow, how are there still any trees standing by the time we get there
Very valid question, and indeed one thing I hope they change for 1.0 to allow the place to at least make a tiny bit more sense...
Or... "Fader felt our presence the very second our Drakkar crossed into the boiling waters. His ire lifted the seas and made the lava seas spit their fury into the skies, which started to come down as cinder rain soon after."
I would like to be able to grow those trees, outside of the Ashlands, but I imagine part of their properties are from existing there in the first place.
So, there were no cinder storms before we arrived. That would make sense too, but meh (and that would mean he has tolerated the dvergr for some reason)
Or, we use the Ashlands cores to make a special kiln that makes ashwood instead of coal
I could deal with that too. π
Does ashwood take water damage? I haven't built anyithing with it yet so I don't know... If not, it would make sense - quickly burning the surface of logs has long been a way to make more water resistant timber for building
Pretty sure I have seen people post that it does not. I haven't built with it either.
That's a bummer. So as is it is pretty much just recoloured wood, shame.
No, they said it does not take water damage.
I just don't know from personal experience.
Aaaah, blame the gin, I read your answer to my question as if I asked my question the other way around...
Also the survivability of local Dvergr is very low after we get there.
Getting quite satisfied with my Ashlands landing now. I have a good platform built, high enough that the blobs can't get on top so they mill around below until I can get rid of any charred and then kite them away so they don't damage anything
Yeah. It is like "How the bleeding fudge did you guys survive long enough for me to get here?!?"
Now, one of the things I hope they'll put some time into before 1.0 is to make the dvergr avoid lava
Viking: Arrives.
Dvergr: Runs into lava.
Now if that same fix at the same time makes all mobs avoid ooze bombs etcetera... "oops"
Heh, never noticed before but it is a cool take. Using the cultivator's "Grass" function is something I use a lot to make my terraforming look less invasive - if you haven't tried it do it asap, it makes your bases look SO much more natural - but until today I never tried using it in Ashlands. And as it happens it does work to muddle up the ground and walls to look less terraformed - but it will NOT sow that red grass of Ashlands. Terraformed ground is completely sterile it seems - and for Ashlands this makes a lot of sense.
But wait - I have some grass here up on my platform, dangit that killed that theory. Must be completely random then where it will generate grass
Right, so. Built an Asksvin pen. Now I just need a couple of asksvin...
do naturally occurring tree saplings grow into bigger trees?
Got it
- They do not fall on your head and kill you, they burst into wood without logs
If you can, try making a terraced tree farm.
Great for resin too.
lmao I'm lucky I haven't been killed by a falling tree yet
That just makes it a fun mini game tho
- Clearing them makes visibility in the woods much better, so you can see mobs coming from far away
I play without mob agro
Indeed, once you have gotten a few dozen beech seeds you can set up a tree farm. You plant a bunch of beeches as tightly together as possible where they'll actually grow, then pop them all at once, harvest the wood and replant. It's pretty much sustainable and you'll rarely need to go deforest an area ever again.
Tree farms are fun with a battleaxe
Friend visited my valley and took this shot #screenshots message
Nice pics. Recently I found this wonderful little secluded, protected beach in Mistlands. It is so nice I just have to build something there, but not anything will go there. Looking for some good looking beach bungalow builds to apply there, that don't get too invasive or require any terraforming.
Yeah I'm going to have to plan this build.
What do I do about a roof on quite a big stone build? I dont think I can support stone floors and a huge wood roof might look a bit weird
Use iron floors
I know this is none of my business, but why?
You can run them inside of the stone, thus hiding them while providing structural support
Ah okay that makes sense thank you, I dont know if I have enough iron for all that though
I could just use this as a wall and build wood structures inside
Iron beams are awesome
Find some elevated rock to ground them, and they'll carry your tower to crazy heights
And, funnily enough, trees work too
Gimme a sec and I'll find screenshots, but I built a tower that started at sea level but had snow on its roof tiles.
I have a very flat base lol
Centered around a pine tree - so all vanilla, no mods, no hacks.
Here #screenshots message
That tower is perfectly buildable without any cheats whatsoever. I built it without any devcommands. Yes, I died more than a few times - but I made it!
lol, death by building is normal as you learn with this
The worst is dragon attacks without food. lol
Now, once the tower was completed I did use devcommands to spawn a rock at the tree's topmost point, to anchor the build in something that won't wave in the wind as much...
I haven't built anything that tall in several years. π
When I realised I was getting snow on the roof tiles I was kinda blown away hahah
I've never built a mountain base. I ought to this time since I'm running early magic
Do a full blown wizards tower
I'll finish up everything I know I want on my base then I'll post a screenshot later if anyone has ideas
I never make actual bases in the mountains, because you need ocean access to make logistics bearable, but the odd outpost and FOB is a given. I have found so many mountain tops where I felt FECK I NEED TO BUILD A CASTLE HERE and I marked it on the map, but I never came back. Because building an acual BASE in the mountain is very, VERY impractical
I usually build a little cozy log cabin
I'm planning to use the floor plans of Strahd's castle to build a proper mountain castle some day, but that day hasn't come yet...
Eh, sailing has never been a giant thing for me. Sadly, I do not have the game time I did when I was younger, so some more tedious game play loops don't appeal to me. Boat logistics is one of them
We run some portal mods on our server that reduces the tedium for us
I'm surprised you'd need mods for that, I feel like vanilla portals can take out all the tedium of logistics already
I run one that allows the transport of carts and animals, can be configured to bring enemies with as well
Another that removes the need to pair portals so I don't have a giant portal bug
hub
Funny thing, as you get older still you get more time all over again. So I am one of the people arguing that no-portals should be the default game setting hahaha. No worries, nobody would ever decide on that - but I am serious: If you have the time to commit, a no-portals run is the most immersive way to play this game. That's a hill I am ready to die on...
I don't doubt. Sadly my profession is rather time consuming.
Ah interesting, that does sound pretty neat
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202303747053846608 Alright this is what I have so far
Bloody hell, I need my stupid viking to come up with a "bonemaw stew" recipe. Carrying a stack of cooked bonemaw around is not really feasible...
We didn't get far into ashlands last time
And something I truly appreciate about Valheim is how they actively work to provide variables to tweak to make the game work for you regardless of your life situation. That's a genuinely great thing.
idk I like zoning out to the music and exploring without worrying about enemies.
I just listen to loud music and then get scared shitless when a wolf comes running up on me
Fair enough, I like the sense of danger that mobs provide - especially the bigger nastier ones - but I can understand your perspective. Peace!
Could anyone take a look at my build in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202303747053846608 if you dont mind π
oh damn I need to kill enemies to progress with basically anything
Yup
tbh that's how most games work
You got this though! And if it turns out too difficult putting it to easy mode might help too
Holy crap, that is very wide and open, if you can get reinforced beams (ironwood) across you could give it a stone floor, or the level below will always be unsheltered because there's no way to build an actual roof that big (without cheats anyway)
I can't even get any simple gear because I can't chase down the deer
can I just throw the arrows I can craft?
You should be able to find the stuff to make a bow to help you π
You don't need to chase them down - sneak up on them and throw a spear
How about you make something that shoots the arrows π
Yep, I just startedf building without knowing how I want it to look like. Im just worried a flat roof will look a bit weird
sneak up and middle mouse with a knife ..
I don't have many recipes
i only have a few hours of playtime lol
mostly just getting used to the game
I'd say give it a stone floor and then make several separate roof sections
Oh yeah that could work, I just hope I have enough iron
I have tier 2 workbench
First things first is probably killing boar. Boar drops unlock a lot of weapons, like a bow for your arrows
have you got flint from water yet? That will also allow you to make a spear to throw
You know what, Im gonna take a break from hitting rocks and building to go get bonemass
yep
Do i have to be near my wolves for them to breed? my farm seems to still grow when im away but my tames are not
just killed a bunch of boars and got some unlocks thanks
Yes, for breeding to happen you need to be near. Once they are born they'll grow regardless
You can also use logs to break the birch logs
@hasty geyser If you can, make breeding towers, makes things produce quickly
bonus points if the ejection point for the wolves is outside the walls, they'll proceed to make a wall of defense for your base
I personally enjoy making moats of wolves
I hope there will be a word from the devs on today π
I'd say ignore anything about "breeding towers" and suchlike, that's just unnecessary automation - get tames a nice little pen to breed and leave them alone...
Maybe I'll do that eventually but I'm really fed up of building for now, its taking me so long to get anywhere
Did you not see the "moats of wolves"? lol
It's almost as good as sharks with laser beams. lol
@arctic swift What are we waiting on the devs for?
They did announce that there will be none this december
Yeah, I saw that announcement in the FB group.
It was also on instagram and i believe its pinned in general here too π
It is, just looked.
Awright, so now I have the perfect foundation for an ashlands base - putrid hole in the basement, raised ground out of reach of blobs. So, what to fricking BUILD on this platform?!?!? π
Used half a mountain's worth of stone to raise buffer walls around this place
blobs can go poof as much as they want, fudge em
I get all cocky feeling I own the place, then I see a warrior stomping at me all aflame with two brilliant stars and I go squealing back into hiding
Burnt through half a stack of frost arrows killing that thing
I was on my friends server and we were crushing the swamp, then we found a 2* draugr elite lmao
Those buggers are a reality check for sure, goddamn. Deffo the warriors of the swamp biome.
Ooof, fortunately those are quite rare π
Its the only thing that has made me glad for the Flametal Tower Shield. I can block those.
Sadly, as my luck would have it my very first contact with a draugr elite in Valheim was at my first draugr village, where I was skipping along in my troll suit and saw this one-armed git with two stars glowering at me - "pffft, what can it do?". Well, as it happens it could oneshot me through my block. Ooops...
Yeah, they are tough. I am glad they are so rare now a days.
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512 Is this enough for bonemass?
You should be quite alright π
Yep.
Lets goo
what monstority you're talking about?
anything official or otherwise on 1.0? Been a year since my last full playthrough, but the group I play with wants to wait for 1.0 release
wait for 2026
Yes you are. Keep that poison resist up, pop health potions when the poison gets you low anyway and just bonk away on that fucker with the mace.
Only info we have is "not in 2025" which will be relevant only for a tiny bit longer. Other than that, we have nothing.
the 2 star draugr elite.
I have never had near to 192 health so im feeling good lol
Abominations are easier to get away from.
For enough guys, thanks for the info. Hopefully 1st quarter 2026 based on the timing of other major releases, but I know they may need more time to polish this one up.
Draugr can follow you more places, easier.
Yeah, Smiffe said as much some hours ago.
yeah, they're still as annoying as fuck and it's basically everywhere is my anicent old server.
Abominatinons are slow and predictable, elites just run at you and swing away, horrible cOOnts they are
(it's annoying for early swamp stage)
Well bonesmass is dead π
There ye go, overprepping is the way!!!!
Yeah i could just take any hits
When your properly prepared, etc... most boss fights are 2 to 3 minutes.
I got a bow with fire arrows and shot a bunch of deer
Now do i spent 20 hours figuring out my roof or go into the mountains
Mountains after swamp.
Valheim is wonderful in the way it lets pure mathematics decide the outcome if you're to lazy to take precautions or try to avoid damage...
Soooo many players struggle against Bonemass
hey y'all, just head up. Today, I finally defeated seventh and final boss today, stopping our long journey for now.
Why would a roof be that hard to figure out?
wait does your progress get wiped after 1.0 like some other EA games?
No.
I'm about to fight Moder soon
I've been struggling making my first stone base, I made it too big, it needs lots of resources lol
Nein, they're made by small team from sweden, not any EA games.
She can take a while due to her flying. Or not long at all if she gets stuck. π
I'm bringing 2 bows and plenty of arrows.
No. But I will definitely start from scratch on a new world anyway, because that is the way
I considered whether to place a few bonfires around
And heck knows what kind of surprises they will throw in to bamboozle us old-timers
She usually wastes time destroying such things, so if you want her to be distracted....
I hear the dark forest is unBEARable
oh, so Microsoft?
no confirmation for me.
There's two ways to read EA around here . One - EA = Early Access, Valheim's publishing form
The other being a company that has not produced anything worth money in a very long time
studios/company i know helped small team is coffee stain studio for helping publishing geme.
Yeah, they are IG's publisher.
Jedi Survivor was good I hear?
yeah yeah
IG being Iron Gate, which created Valheim. Hopefully many more good games to come.
(by the way, i love deep rock galactic and satisfactory)
Ah i remember this.
I have no idea, the only EA game I have played in years is the football game, which is good - but their way of monetising it is infuriating
well, honestly EA is kind of biggest traitor company for me...
Survivor looks good, but I have yet to play it. Same with Satisfactory.
(kind of)
what survivor game?
oh, jedi survivor myst talked?
ah
Hey y'all, honestly EA is kind of biggest traitor company for me, kind of.. because they often lost focus on game and move on, even discontiung game. Remember spore game? it's nostgia game that is almost dead for many year.... it was my childhood favorite game.
yeah, they fucking abandoned game after something game release in 2011
Well, thankfully Valheim has little or no relation to that company.
Im guessing i dont want to go in this mountain cave yet?
you can as long as you survives wolf attack
Unfortunately companies have to move on. They live by profits, not by fandom love of a game they buy once. Even IG will move on from Valheim.
Exactly, which i hates most, i hate the feeling that they abandoning my childhood favorite game (spore).
If by mountain cave you mean a "Frost Cave" and you are still basically in the Black Forest progressionwise, it is probably best to not go deep in there, or you might need to simply make replacements.
I'll leave it for now, i was trying to find a bit of silver but no luck
I prefer to not go into them until I can make Fire meads.
No silver in caves, silver veins are always out on the sheer mountain
Besides, the caves have never had silver in them. You can get other metals, though.
well.... but i'm okay with game being abandoned as long as they're finished with story or something like this. Raft for example.
Yeah I mean I was looking around the mountain for silver but 10 mins and couldnt detect any
i kinda miss them but story is finished for good.
You can find a few metal bars (iron, bronze) by smashing shit in the caves, but never silver
You did equip the wishbone, right?
yeah
Good. Unfortunately silver isn't every where, it can be hard to find even with the bone.
Since your mountain has a cave, silver is some where.
Just usually higher than the caves are.
It's all good I just wanted to get more use out of my serpent food, I'll go back to working on the base for a bit. Does anyone know the cheapest way to support a large stone roof? Iron floor or iron beams
Probably the beams. How high is your structure? I can use core wood beams for 4 levels.
Im thinking more like having no (or few) pillars
I embed the core wood into my walls, usually. Again depending on how large the foot print is.
Just make sure they go to ground too.
Your going to have to do some columns. Thats still short enough using core wood in the walls will help.
It doesnβt make it easier either that thereβs a big outrage over paying for additional content a lot of the time
Imagine if Deep North was a paid expansion
definitely EA thing!
EA is addicted to making overpriced game with alots paid expansion
I would write a bad review if that was the case π
And they put an un removable ad for it it while youβre in your inventory
Hear, hear!
Just got me Galdr table yo
Ive come to realize that people really like the mistlands cape
I liked it a lot in the mistlands, after that I
am just waiting for something that is enough of an improvement to dethrone it. Not found one yet...
unless deep north has feather cape 2 that might never happen
0m/s fall speed limit
Mistlands cape is pretty goated in mistlands. In Ashlands I feel Ask cape competes very well, and ashen cape is an alright competitor as well
Ask cape is nice, and one I will use if I can just get accustomed to NOT being able to jump off mountains at will.
The other Ashlands cape has this absolutely ridiculous collar on it that I simply can't bring myself to use. Just not possible, too ugly
with any cape other than feather we take fall damage with lightfoot mead
Thats the thing for me tho. Outside of mistlands and mountains there isnβt that much elevation
(Though I personally donβt tend to develop the death inducing jump off of stuff habits)
feather cape isn't just for elevation though
less jump stamina, more horizontal distance covered in a jump, no fall damage with lightfoot
No itβs for sure good for height, stamina, and extending jumps
Half of the feather capes brilliance is FINDING elevation to glide away from danger
Was supposed to reply initial comment to Derleth jumping off mountains
Catapult, anyone?
Catapult launching is very fun Iβll say
Never even built one, never seen the use case
catapult into deep north when it releases
I'd prefer to go on boat, thankyouverymuch
Feather cape seems very nice for mages
the wind is never against you with a catapult
best way to start first deep north landing event!
feather cape is nice for everyone

I can see a mountainside being violently against me though... (SPLAT)
you can slow down any time by moving
huh? why i cant post full gif?
Don't bring logic into hysteria!
π So I died again trying to retrieve my first tomb. THAT tomb vanished as well and it was nowhere near a crypt. Reverted to a save from 3 days ago, and still nothing
graves aren't supposed to disappear. are you closing the game immediately after dying?
first tomb? you mean you actually dying for first time in run you're in?
Wait, what? You lost your stuff even though you found the grave?
Did you revert your world save or character save? If you do character save you could go far enough where you have the items that would be in that grave
The first tomb since having this issue. I thought maybe it was because I diied on top of a sunken crypt. The tombs were marked on the map, but nothing existed in the game. No, I played for a bit after dying, and reverted both character and world
well, i got little confused, which tomb you're referring to?
top of sunken crypt extiorer or INTERAL?
Wahoo Im finally a magic man!
then be magic man for million years :)
Im whippin fire ballz! Wahoooo
there is this fun song aswell
but it's not valheim related π€
DnD song, "I cast fireball"
Is that the one by one shot bards?
Nono, they are 2 different things, the one by one shot bards is a parody on firework
Hey hey everyone
Looking for a buddy with a mic to play with
250+ hrs on steam, never actually got to ashlands since my buddy who I played with got in jail
No dedicated server, only upon me being online
Playtime usually PST 16:30-20:00
You can look for people to play with in #1024264966712340510 or you can also make your own post in there π
Whooot! Size 4 Pike, skill 8 fishing!
I get how you are supposed to fish, but does anyone just struggle stamina wise reeling in the 3+4 stars from higher lvl areas? It feels like sometimes the only way to reel em in is by walking em on the beach.
Been a while since I did much fishing, but I feel like 3/4 stars are okay on a short line, triple stamina, and a stamina potion
I've defeated Moder. That took almost 30 minutes and nearly died twice.
I'd tell you how I did it, but I tried, and was given a 10 minute time out. I have no idea which term earned it, so I'm not going to try to repeat it.
I will say I only did it with 1 stamina food and no meads.
Fair nuff, I can get pike without too much difficulty, but as soon as I start hitting pufferfish/anglerfish it seems like the stamina drain doubles if not tripples compared to that of a pike.
Not complaining about the difficulty btw, I'm probably just incompetent when it comes to high star later game fishing
It does get more difficult with the later fish, but my trick works with them as well. So I don't need more stamina foods or meads to catch them.
Despite my skill never reaching 40.
Generally the highest stamina food from my current highest tier biome is enough.
They should add a feature to the game where, if you're naked, you can kick enemies in the balls to stagger them and get away. Whats ya'lls opinion on this?
They have a kick feature already .. its the unarmed secondary attack
and it does 6x to staggering
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Fists
Yeah sounds pretty much like how the game is rn
Yeah, but like if you're trying to go get your stuff in the plains and running naked, it adds an additional buff so you can kick a fulling to get away.
Like a savior move, hard to land but quite nice.
thats there .. already .. just without a buff.
Hard to land but quite nice -- higher your skill, little bit easier to land
Staggering a fuling with the kick may be near impossible (unless you really try for it, like easy difficulty or vile bear set or something), but you can very easily stagger a greydwarf with it. Makes sense that you won't be able to use a naked kick to stagger mid-late biome creatures tho
if anyone's interested in a good Valhiem series to binge check out self promotion, not my content but the dudes series is so binge worthy, in my opinion one of if not the best valhiem series I have watched.
Is there any way to deduct how much stone I have picked up in my character's life? I tried /stats but couldn't make sense of the info, doesn't seem accurate at all
Like the normal stone you find on the ground or stone you mined
Sure
All sources really, I'm just curious how much stone I have used in total, after a number of large stone buildings, fortifications and terraforming I'm thinking it's adding up to silly amounts
I once thought the mountains of stone stacks I had after mining copper and silver would last forever, oh such naΓ―vetΓ©...
guys are troll leather useful outside of armor?
It's used in two other crafting recipes
and 1 building piece
Spear is nice weapon and AB spear looks great.
Troll leather is required for barber station too.
Not really that good in the swamp also it's kinda expensive to make and upgrade compared to other spears
The demolisher should've had additional lightning damage imo. Would've been cooler than the himminafl
blasphemy
though i couldn't say no to saving the concept of a lightning polearm for a later biome, where it'll have higher stats :>
hello where can I write to find a team
thank you great guy
I hate traversing the mistlands solo, it's scary asf but the feather cape makes it so much easier
Im using so much stone to avoid using iron supports lmao
Bark spear is pretty good. A lot of people go mace for swamp which is fairly slow swinging, medium damage, and often ends up splitting damage on walls while in crypts
Having a (very cheap to make) alternative that does high damage, doesnt end up splitting damage, and attacks very fast can be very handy
Not to mention itβs great for starting out mountains too
Unless youβre asatru that only needs fists in mountains
Spears in general are very versatile weapon. Fast in close combat and ranged option when thrown and will not require more ammo unless you have one unfortunate miss.
I don't think spears would be as good in mountains because if you miss your throw it will basically be lost
You will most likely need iron supports at some point anyway, as the stone in itself isn't strong enough to support high rising buildings. Not even when you're using stone colomns to support floors.
I rarely miss.
I did this on my first (I think?) play through. Launched a spear at a drake...never saw it again π
I played one playthrough with 2h weapons (battleaxes, sledges, atgeirs, 2h swords) and spear for only ranged option.
Be glad Valheim is using a flat earth principle.
Otherwise you would have to look over your shoulder all the time to make sure it doesn't hit you in the back.
It takes some getting used to against drakes. At least if youβve never used them before
But against wolves the risk of losing your spear is pretty low unless you really decide to throw it in the worst spot
Oh also another point I forgot to mention: Even if you havenβt used spears up until swamp, they level (I think more than 2x as fast?) much faster than maces, so youβll quickly get some spear skill going
I mean...flat or spherical, there's a lititle thing called gravity to prevent that
It's a game!
Anything is possible.
Even spears flying on endlessly.
the spears are good but not the bark spear , it does pierce damage which easily replaced by any bow and if u really wanted a melee pierce weapons then go for artiger it second attack does stun most things that can be stunned in the swamp , and it's very easy replaceable with the fang spear ( the silver spear ) which is very easy to craft with only 2 silver and can be easily maxed too with 14 silver total , while for acient bark spear you need 10 iron to craft it and 30 iron bar in total to max it out , would worth ues that iron for anything else than spear that will be replaced by much cheaper and stronger version
Just use pickaxe
i don't like two handed weapons
excpet those big swords maybe
not even fishing rod?
When i'm farming stone and a greydwarf comes to say hi, he gets a pickaxe to the face
when are fishing rods and pickaxes getting separate combat and tool skills like axes
but that's a tool
it can deal damage
by hitting things with the projectile
can it hock stuff like that one in mc ?
Just been laying down all my stone walls and I've made it 1 block too short on one side π
My parrying problem has been solved! My right click mouse button is shot lol. Doesnt stay pressed
Can't argue that bark is better than fang, because fang is pretty damn good (especially as it doesn't split its damage into spirit). But I still quite like bark spears
I agree that often time the ranged capabilities of spears are overshadowed by bows, but going on no-bow runs recently I've actually come to realize how good their ranged attack is too. Oneshotting drakes and wolves and not having to refill ammo feels nice (though I still think where they really shine is in melee combat)
They're just not good for pierce resist bosses like bonemass or yag, or tanky pierce resist mobs like stone golem. Stuff like blobs and skellies they take care of easily tho
Other silver weapons don't split damage into spirit, they have expected stats for the tier + extra spirit damage
1h swords gain 20 damage in each biome. Silver sword has 20 more slash than iron sword and 30 spirit damage on top
Interesting. Maybe I'm just underwhelmed by swords/maces and rarely ever made the silver arrows and knife
silver sword is so good
The battleaxe felt decent
more damage than mistwalker against charred and valkyries, and stronger than black metal weapons against yagluth
I've only ever used it for yag, geirhaffa, and ashlands, and that was like one
It was nice for those purposes tho
But that's because of the spirit. Never tried them for pure slash
I really liked it in ashlands. My new favorite despite the non-existent stagger it has
It's better stagger than frostner at least
Ah yes Frostner, the stagger weapon type that can't stagger anything
Fr I never understood frostner hype. Shes not my type fr
i use frostner to make distance between me and other creatures tbh + free damage if enemis you attacked are wet with many seekers and fulings are
Maces do two things. 1. Stagger, 2. Create distance (usually through knockback, in frostners case also by freezing them)
I love the first function of maces and absolutely hate the second one, which is why frostner is not for me. Frostner gives up on stagger in order to be able to give a lot more distance
stagger is the amount of time enemies stayed stunned after a perry right ?
That stunned state is called being staggered, but stagger is also a value increased by taking physical or lightning damage that can stagger a creature when it's raised beyond a percentage of their maximum health. When you take damage and see the red bar next to your character, that's your current stagger value.
Some player attacks like mace/polearm secondary and battleaxe primary have stagger multipliers to increase this faster without dealing more damage
Hi everyone, is there a mod that lets you tame Bjorn the bear?
Probably yeah. I think there's a mod that lets you tame any creature
Ask google or #mods-discussion though
Destroyed maypole - cant rebuild π
And each upgrade adds 5 spirit, so total of 45 spirit at quality 4.
You can in six months!
Yup, just a matter of time. In the meantime, place your yule tree where you'll feel fine leaving it till next year
how do you get the recipe for the christmas tree
Fir cone and wood
Also can make a frame and make large Yule trees too #screenshots message
Should I build myself a base in the swamp lol?
Yes
If you feel like it. Many people make tree houses in the large trees.
There were some quite cool looking buildings created in swamps area in BotW few months back.
Swamp bases can be neat. Especially with green torches
One of my boars fought valiantly, died a true warrior death. His name was Thor. I hope he found his way to valhalla. He took out at least 3 greydwarfs before they finally got him, he was the last boar standing too.
To make it look good requires a ton of resources, especially iron if you plan to make it big
Can we tame a bear somehow? Rus Vikings domesticated bears.
No
Bears are not tamable.
They can eat blueberries on ground tho.

Ty
How far through is newbie? Have you killed the first boss?
thy is on the iron age with no iron weapons
inly armour that is level 2
and a iron bow n a iron shield
I have just gotten to the same point as you
yoo wanna play together?
Can't atm
not now
On holiday
later anytime
I am playing through with my friend
Not for a while and I would have to ask my friend
I will get back to you at some point
alr np
I suppose my question is progress faster how?
uhh like what are the quickest ways to gather and transfer resources
Portals and the best tool you can get
like ores
Carts
Boat
Resource modifiers adjustmens help too.
You cAn take the most
uk iron n stuff cant be transported through portals
Ore wise, best use a boat imo
You just gotta use a boat
my base is hella far from a swamp
If it's kinda close use carts and if it's far use boat
I would setup a forge and smelter at the swamp your mining from
So you can make some iron gear without boating it home
You can break the cart and it will drop all recourses
iron bars can be taken through a portal?
No
If it's flat too, too heavy a cart can make hauling ut a pain
despawn
I am currently in the process of creating a massive trade route to and from my swamp
The terrain is relatively flat
And the steep bits I carve through
With pickaxe
And you can do that, time wise i feel a boat would be faster, but whatever works best for you is π
My main base is very far inland so carts work well for me
I can't access my base easily with boat
Tho ima move soon and leave the old place for farming
Ah gotcha, I went with a port base which made that part easier for me
i built a new one on the coast
same
It's my first base when I first started out
It's close enough to a black Forrest so copper was easy to transport
can iron bars be teleported?
No
bruh
Not normally
