tbf, not all swamps are equal
my bonemass swamps tend to suck size wise
Kinda feels like you get nothing or everything from a single swamp. Kinda how it's been for my runs.
So true.
Is there an approximate date for the deep north update?
Not yet sadly
While quite likely in my personal opinion, we dont know even that...
Its more that devs dont really like even joke timeframes to be given by random people...
Ah
ahem not sure
I'll be a bit more wary of joking in that regard then. No ill intent intended.
is there a chat for coop or does it just get done here?
If you are looking for other people to play with then #1024264966712340510 would be the place 😄
thank you
Is the right place to cry about my home being destroyed by a troll?
It is now
Thank you. I really needed that.
How much did it smush?
My entire house, me, and my three Christmas trees... It was a humble home, but still a home.
I was only a few hours into the game, so I'll rebuild but it was devastating in the moment.
I can imagine!
It is traumatising first time that happens, and trust me it happens to most Valheim players at least once. You'll soon pick up tricks on how to kill the blue hooligans and also how to grab their attention so they don't smash your home to infinity. Then work on how to protect your home from that happening...
I really appreciate your kind words. I've worked up the courage to open the game today and try again.
I believe in you!
This video I recorded the first time I killed a troll in this game. I came back from a forage and found him standing ON TOP of my home. I was terrified of them after a previous incident but this time I decided that bugger was not going to get away with it.
I remember playing Valheim for the first time with two friends and us all running from one troll, being killed several times trying to get it away from our home 😭
Gods below, disregarding how bad I was at the game at that time - the crude bow really is not very great...
I have skipped the crude bow long time now - flint spear is super good early weapon.
now it is
Oh gods it is hard to watch that video. I went back after him without resting and eating first, screaming at stupid self here...
I did have a flint spear - just not the confidence to go toe-to-toe with that big blue brute..
Can't let these trolls win. This is a beacon of hope.
Yeah, nowadays I just dodge-roll or let them help me with some mining/forestry before terminating their employment 😅
When I first started though I wanted to keep as much distance as possible
I was absolutely terrified of those buggers for a very, very long time. It is only recently I have learned to just avoid their attacks and make use of their special talents. I don't use them to mine - I prefer doing that myself - but as demolition men they are unmatched!
Yeah, not the first choice for me in my early hours either. Although I recall I used Bone shield and bronze spear against them when we encountered some with my group and others used bows.
Soft snail also got cooked alive in the fireplace of his house several times because he kept jumping in the chimney for no reason at all, shortly before the troll showed
Ohwait now, how common is it with Ashlands spikes actually spawning outsided of Ashlands, in the regular Ocean?
Got at least one here cleanly in non-boiling waters, and two adjoining ones half clear
And the spikes are so dense here it looks like I can probably build a frigging bridge to Ashlands dry land from the ocean
Are we all going to get the best Christmas present this year????!!!?
I'd say no... but don't let me be a damper on your hopes
If you mean Deep North, then no. 🙁
Aright, I understand now why bonemaw meat has no stew recipe
90 hp is quite a lot 😄
Not that, cooked serpent meat is also good for when you find it
It's just that bonemaw are so easy to farm. The only reason I don't use their meat as staple Ashlands food is their weight, so I wondered if a stew recipe could possibly be a thing in the future - but considering just sailing to my southern outpost has given me like 60 meat, I doubt they'd want us to have that...
But an ashlands lvl jerky based on it would be cool
Just spent a good few hours making a big flat area on the coast for a build but I realise I have no idea what I want my base to be like. I've never done any big build before 😭
Consult the Youtube oracle, or browse through #building-screenshots - there's gotta be something there that catches your eyes..
I'll have a browse 😄
Being inspired by stuff somebody else built is not a bad thing, do what you want with them - change things, turn them around, expand, alter. Building in Valheim is awesome, nearly limitless possibilities
Honestly I dont think im going to be able to do anything fancy, main thing I want is like a stone wall around it all and a dock but the actual base I have no idea
I have learned a lot from a channel called "Chiselchip". I think the guy is mostly focused on Enshrouded these days, but filter his videos on Valheim and you'll find the goodies. He's got a pointy roof solution amongst other things that looks really good, I have started using a variant of that.
Best way to do it is to start simple and then make it pretty once it does its work ok
Oh also can I transport my boar anyway? I've got 2*s and dont want to have to find them again
I have stopped taming boar, the ones the fulings near my base kill is enough for me...
Im only in the swamp rn but I took a break to try and get a big base put up
I guess I dont even need to move them, all my stuff seems to still grow while in my new base
Basically, every single time I have actually captured two-star boar and gotten them a safe pen - I have been past the stage where you actually need them. So don't fret over boars, having them tamed is just a luxury anyway.
Gods, I'm obsessed with this idea now. I'll try and build a walkbridge from the ocean to Ashlands. No boats required!
Whilst I'm going to try and put walls around some raised ground 🔥
Before I start on that adventure I'll need to go farm some more Iron though...
This is gonna use a lot of stone lol
I hope you saved all the stone you got from mining.
Otherwise you may want to remove all the big rocks in the biomes you've been in before.
I do have 2 chests at base which should get me started
A tip:
Stone and iron have one thing in common:
You never can have too few of it.
Two chests full is indeed a start.
You can very easily have too little of either
I have more than one time thought "ffs what am I to do with all this stone" then not long after " FECK I NEED MORE STONE". It's like magic...
thats how i feel now lol
Yep, it's all rock'n stone
i swear im bout to put my seed in one of those website to find this damned trader
i need that 150 extra carrying capacity
I got really lucky with mine, 1 trip to the swamps and I found all 3 traders
Nice
ive found them all other than the forest one
Usually its good idea to explore a bit around Elder 🙂
im fighin bonemass rn 😭
(was) im running back to my corpse
well sailing
making a boat
Gotcha, nothin like a corpse run
Common odin ships W
whitchever dev made the most needed material be in a fucking swamp i dislike
obligatory swamp section is my opp
Come a certain later biome you never need to set foot in the swamp again
That said, I love the swamp
Man I really dont have any imagination for my base
All its unwelcome, inhospitable corrupt, smelly, damp horridness
also is there only turmnip seeds in the swamp? for some reason i think theres 2 seed types?
Just stack up on poison, minor stamina and minor/medium heal meads and the battle is cakewalk
im bad
i just put it only easy mode rn
Turnip seeds are yellow flowers in the swamp. You only need to find ONE, but that damn plant can be elusive sometimes
i am a coward
already did
Yeah my turnip seed took about 10 hours of actively hunting to find
If you have one, grow those buggers away from the swamp and laugh at the draugr
You can go in a few directions.
-
create a main base and several outposts; at some point all connected with portals. Including a portal to the spawn point.
A nice spot for a portal hub is under the Elder Altar, as that also offers a (very small) rested bonus.
The advantage of an outpost is that you can do some things there, without having to bring all your crap over. -
Have a full base in all relevant biomes. Which basically means one in the Black Forest / Meadows (border), one in the Plains, one in Mistlands and one in Ashlands.
While this is very resource heavy, it gives you the option to use different terrain for your bases, giving them all a different look.
Again, having a Portal Hub under the Elder altar is optional.
For either base option you got two side options:
1 is to put all your crafting stations in one building (like at the ground floor or in a cellar), with a living area above it.
Another is to put each crafting station in a seperate building, thus giving the idea of having a keep and it's support buildings.
Given you got 4 stations for tools / armor / weapons, 6 related to potions / food and 3 related to metal processing, you will need a lot of space.
And finally, you start with wood, but will get three more building materials in the future.
That too will help a lot with setting up diverse kinds of buildings.
Holy bonkers I had forgot just how much I chewed through frost arrows in Ashlands
Gotta find a big fkn mountain to farm or this will not be sustainable
Also, am I the only one finding most Ashlands weapons very underwhelming?
I'll be using mats on armour and stay with my Mistwalker, thankyouverymuch
you're not. most of em are a bit silly.
Well, you cant upgrade them fully yet 😄
Yeah they break if a charred looks at me meanly
not without dev cmds anyway
Well, considering what things you can do with them... I tend to disregard them in normal convo 😄
Yeah. Well as far as weapons go, I will not be spending any mats on them whatsoever until I have exactly everything else I want and need from the biome
And that's precicely backwards from how I have thought throughout the game previously
yeah, i think the only one I'd seriously consider is the bow, and even then you need more than 1 of em if you leave em at what t2 is it?
Still, Spinesnap at lvl 4 with its spirit damage, I think it is just straight up better
yk what lemme look that up.
spirit damage is for hippies i only place my trust in fine steel
Iirc around the same overall dmg with lvl2 elemental bows, + those have special efffects, so appart from durability the new bows are better 🙂
Ooof, yeah, no portal run could proove difficult in terms of durability
No way I am taking a random gimmick thing that once in a blue moon becomes useful before actually being able to use my bow when I need it
raw damage per shot (assuming you let all DoTs tick) ashfang is better against something that takes all damage neutrally.
(still doing math on some relevant resistances)
That makes sense. But most ashlands mobs are at least susceptible to spirit damage
I feel like Ashfang and most of the other Ashlands weapons are more aimed at the next step
true, which i was going to mention, but wanted to be certain on how it would play out. but it looks to be in snap's favour.
Anyway, the very last thing I craft here will be the Ashfang...
the worst thing about iron is i used an entire crypts worth (on 3x) of iron in like 4 minutes
its so needed it hurts
Yeah, a lot of work and then you gobble it up in like seconds...
i would die if the nearest swamo wasnt a 2 minute sail away
is there a hot key to turn off hud?
Ctrl+F3
okay why include a fucking control menu in settings if all the damned controls arnt there
nothing burger ahh menu
Because not all controls can be changed, for whatever reason someone more techy needs to explain...
i know that
but i dont need to change them
i just want to know them
and not have to google or ask someone about it
even with RNG, storm fang would need multiple foes in order to be better due to chaining, else it falls 0.25 points of average damage short. blood fang is too unreliable to be considered.
anyway thats enough of that from me.
As far as I remember most of them were on the screen and annoying me until I managed to hide them
It's all I need really - the gemmed bows only have a case in extreme usecases, meaning the spinesnap will outperform them 95% of the time, meaning I'll craft that thing once I am more or less completely done with Ashlands...
iirc they're in the Valheim Wiki.
Just put that under a bookmark and you're good.
that shouldnt be the only way to know these things?
it should be in a sub menu in the controls tab
that tells all the hot keys for specific things
It's one of the best ways to get to know things in the first place.
Do you really think the ones helping you here know everything of this game?
Some things have changed, so the Wiki is a pretty reliable source.
And those helping here are often taking a look at it as well, before posting the answer.
Besides;
The game is still under development. So it's always possible things in menus will change.
It's mentioned a few times by Smiffe that the game will get optimalisations after the 1.0 launch. And a change of the menu can be considered as an optimalisation as well.
Whats best plains food babes?
Loxmeat pie.
Combined with Serpent stew or Fishwraps and bread (as stamina food)
Some mountain foods combined with Loxmeat pie work too.
And there's of course the mountain feast you could use.
Thanks, Ive been just starting using loxmeat pie, Ill look into the others fs
I need to get away from sausages because its health food too
And I just burnt 4 of them pies f
As said earlier; the wiki is your friend. 😉
You need to go to bog witch and get the spice for it 🙂
You also need to have all food recipes of the related biome being unlocked.
Which for mountains would be Onion soup, Wolf Jerky and Eyescream.
Got it! Eyescream is good stamina fs
Just need a sanity check, drakes at dragon eggs are static spawns right? (I feel like I see them around the eggs too much to be static, but wiki claims they are)
They are one time spawns if you mean that
After they spawn the first time the location is not any different than rest of the mountains in regards to their spawning
prefect ty
Bears are assassins in this game
A big dangerous animal that you should fear
But i get heart attacks for 4th time now because thier walking sound and breathing is near impossible to hear
Are bears suppose to be this quiet? I can track any creature noise within 10 meters from me without knowing it's there
Bears are near like mute
Only to hit you in back with that
Noise of bear attacking you
As if I was watching a video of car driving down road on nice countryside
I'm the only one who has pants filled because of bears?
spawn one in, see if they have idle/searching/detection sfx.
also zoom out in dangerous areas.
Bears came later in the game for me so I wasn't as intimidated by em, for me my pants were filled when I first learned what a fenring was.
Same, I saw that thing and took off as if shoot from catapult xD
They do make noises they are just very oddly quiet with them, and yes I tested that after sneaking up on one but it doesn't change the point
Bears are jumpscaring
Bears in real life can jump scare you too
True, but you can't outrun bears in real life as opposed to in valheim.
i think if i were new to valheim, bears might make me jump. so far the only thing i remember surprising me much at all was the infamous deathsquito encounter.
Just have to outrun your friend
Or trip em if they're faster then you lol
Being very comfortable in the swamp and then they added aboms without me reading any patch notes was a very surprising encounter
yeah, that was a fun one. i remember seeing the patch notes once, and then where the heck did it go?
When were the aboms added in? I can't remember which patch added them in.
iirc before frost caves, but im trying to re-find the update.
0.205.5
nov 25 2021
November 2021
Gotcha, i came after they came in then, I think i arrived potentially before yagulth was a boss?
was a surprise update that added root armor
"something stirs in the swamps"
yag was before h&h.
I remember when h&h came in, but not sure how far back beyond that I was.
16/09/2021
Yag was early 2021 I think, with Haldor
Gotcha, I got no idea when I started then 🤷♂️
I'll have to go back and check when I first added it into my library. I'm still pretty sure I recall seeing the h&h update tho
I am scared, there is a giant floaty brain thing, and war horns going off, and it sounds like im about to get smitted by god
Yeah... best get shooting or run then. Loved learning about that bugger too
ah yes the ghast, but valheim-ified.
Did red blobs chase after ya?
Ticks? no, I dipped before it noticed me XD
I had jus come out of an infested mine
and I hear horns blast, like 10ish seekers, and 3 2 star soldier seekers descend from the sky and that thing in the distance
killed the seekers and ran like mad
surprised you had time to stomp the bugs before you ran
I got a frostner, the slow helped IMMEDNSELY
then the 13 seekers must have been an exaggeration.
I mean it was 10ish. Ik for a fact there were 3 2 stars. and enough to where I didnt try counting, and was immediately in bob and weave mode
regardless, you made it back in 1 piece, thats good.
Hey, 3’s better than 0 though!
Id say the effects are pretty cool, but other than some of the magic stuff and the capes, a lot of the gear is more of a side grade to previous gear
Still I think some of it will be good later on. For example staff of fracturing and lightning/nature spear is kinda meh in Ashlands, but I feel they could be damn good in DN
I find the weapon catalogue of the Ashlands to be a bit underwhelming as well- compared to other biomes. They’re not bad in my opinion, just not quite as charming as the other biomes weapons.
There are some really cool ones, but I think overall for me at least, the enchanting process doesn’t quite feel right.
any here some have explored the whole map before ?
and how long does it take + - ?
People tend to avoid exploring the whole map, to avoid "breaking" the world for future updates like Deep North
ahh alr i was about to explore the whole map or make a new world and make a fresh start 🙂
If you stay clear of the Deep North it probably wouldn't impact tooo much
but fresh start new experience 🙂 idk if it worth it to start fresh all time
I play permadeath on pretty punishing settings and with self-imposed challenges, which caused me to start fresh a loooooooooooot of times.
Always feels fun though
nice 😄
can i ask a question ?
Sure
if i add new biomes and monsters to my vh should i make a new world to get items generated in ?
tryed to google nothing much there :/
maybe u know more than me there 🙂
Like, if you add it with mods or if updates come out with new biomes and mobs?
You should join the discord Valheim World Editing .. they do that sort of thing ALL the time and there are current rebuilds of biomes going on.
yeah new biomes and stuff does it get generated it self or do i have to make a new world u know something about that ? 🙂
New content that gets added will generally ONLY appear in areas you have not explored.
So for example, if you leave the Deep North of the map unexplored (don't go there), when the update for Deep North comes out your world will automatically get that new biome and mobs and everything that you can go and explore
But if you go explore it now, your world will be locked to the old version of that area, so anything you explore will NOT update later on
ahh alr thx 😄
There is a way around it where you can still get thigns updated despite exploring them, but I think it requires a mod called "Upgrade world" or something like that
ty so much for helping me out there 😄
No problem :)
how often do u make a new map / world ? only then its getting bored or? 🙂
Depends a lot based on the person, but for me I make a new one world and character anytime I die
Which sometimes happens in meadows, sometimes in Ashlands
ahh alr 😄 i might make a new map / world after i get bored of this then XD i wish we got more build things 🙂
just did queen 1 week ago 😄
I usually play other peoples, default password is "secret" you'd be surprised how many public servers you can join
not the question but fair
its an answer though, other people make the map
yeha but not the answer to the question lol
i might actually crashout.....game just crashed mid build, and my autosave is set to every 30min.....
-# panicking
for whatever reason........it hadnt saved in over 2 hours...
oh thank god
it wasnt the world that didnt save, just my positonal data
I only lost about the last 15min. Whew 😰
I like building :D
wtf guys how do i kill a 2 star draur? cause i killed a draugr and then it spawned a 2 star draugr
it has a bow so maybe its easy to deal with but idk
It could have been much worse my game crashed when playing subnautica and I lost 3hrs of progress
Oh and prioritize the spawner
i tryeid blocking his arrow and it dealt half my health
Thats what happens if you try to block anything that is 2**
You can take some distance and take it down with bow. Just before it shoots move sideways so the arrow won't hit you.
Once you get Root Harnesk the archers become easier to be dealt with.
i see
im working on it actually
im getting iron so i can make make my actualy base
and then root armor
What is the crafting for room armor I have only just got to swamp
The Swamp gotta be my #1 opp
I agree
you need to kill the abomination i think he drops the crafting recipe
I just got there and I got violently attacked by one of those strange spider things and I haven't been since
I just build stuff now
you need the root chest i think mainly
Yes he does and those are a pain you honestly gotta parry at that point in the game especially in a solo run
i just use a bow and climb up trees
if youre not doing a class challenge or something
see but thats how someone thats scared plays so die 10 times instead lmao
I am playing through with my friend and he did that while I distracted it but it changed agro to him and he got 2 shot so idk how effective it is
well thats on you i just dont want to die
idk i enjoy the combat with the parrying lol
even if that means an insane run back haha
idk about you but its path finding is kinda bad
I kinda just run
so i just climb trees and stuff and it doesnt even reach me
And smack it sometimes
it has never hit me once
My friend was about half it's height above it and he still got hit
same but never got hit, idk it aggro to something
its ai is kinda weird it aggro to me and stand below me confused, and then just ran
i had to run after it so i could get the drop and a wraith spawned
Night time can turn out fatal during early swamp era.
We were fighting it at night
i got back into this game with my friend and before i played with him i played solo and i got to the mistlands before i stopped and i vividly remember how terrifying the mountain boss was just because i had to bring mulitple bows and died so many times
i even tried cheesing that mf and it was difficult
this game had to have been made for multiplayer lol cause solo is so difficult
or the game is just easier now idk and we stopped for a bit and now we got trinkets so
Game is designed for solo first but has co-op option. Enemies scale their HP and damage for each player in same area up to 5 players.
oh fr?
i always thought it was multiplayer first cause ive had a significantly easier time with having just me and my friend playing together
were about to reach the mountain boss soon so here comes the fight that gave me ptsd
Preparation makes things easier in this game, gathering materials for better gear, better foods and utilities etc. Especially better foods are important for better stats, each biome after black forest have new cauldron upgrade for crafting better foods.
im soloing rn on day 107 2 bosses killed
Oh dude I know i looked up everything to make sure I had the best stuff and I wasnt bad either that boss just gave me hella trouble
The big feast foods weren't in the game when I played either so im using those constantly haha
Feasts were added last year in Bog Witch update, they've been really useful addition to the game.
Yea I think its really cool and fits the game very well
Finding Bog Witch early and having 3 first feasts grant quite good stats for swamp era.
welp i guess its time to find all 3 merchant before fighting a few bosses
Just found Haldor on my starting island
this is after I found the bog witch on the same starting island
Dont need to I know exactly what it is 😂
yes!
If you are on the highest part of a crypt, the abom cant hit you, but you can hit it. Same with trees or treehouses. It will run all over if it cant reach you though
oh so thats why
Oh, hello draugr village ❤️
Let the townsfolk alone! You vikings and your insatiable craving for zombie entrails!
Trust me, I won't be making a farm out of them for some time
Also, which sicko at Iron Gate decided "Oh yeah, lets make cannibal sausages.. even better, let's make zombie cannibal sausages"???
Speaking of, another Draugr village ❤️
Gonna feast tonight, boys!
Coastal even! Great base opportunities
What's the seed I would love to start building stuff and I see some fun stuff here
That's only part of the island 😄
I'll post the full map so far and the seed a bit later on
Just had a thought to make a little fishing dock and house then remembered that the ocean messes up buildings 😭
I think it will only go down to 50% if that helps
Wsp how to become a mod?
Step 1, Don't call me a wasp D:
😭
Sorry sir bee hive
Step 2, it's not given by asking
Activity, general friendliness/helping attitude, and following the rules will help towards being noticed as a potential helper
but that's all done on our (helpers, mods, and developers) end
So there is not a application?
Yall should lwk add that
A lot of us have been on the volunteer team for sometime now. I go back to 2020/2021
Are you swedish?
Ahha
Isn't it like midnight for u rn?
10:05pm
Ok
It is 13.06 in sweden
I'm still exploring this pesky island
Some of its nice some of it is worse let's say
I lwk wana build a big ahh fortres
Is rockey out
Finally finished scouting out the island
mind if I dm you the world info?
Kinda surprised blackmetal chests are still the same size and capacity. Don't see much of a reason to make one outside of conserving iron.
Go ahead
They feel nice to me for using the hold E to place all stacks mechanic
Since they can hold a lot
Of different items
I guess they'd make a good arrow or food chest in that regard.
I bought Valheim may 2021.. It is the survival game I compare ALL others to
hi
Well, some survival games released after Valheim has been called "Valheim-like" similar how there are many "Souls-like" games, the impact/influence of Valheim has been significant.
Valheim definitely raised the bar for survival games imo
And for EA releases - one of the cleanest EA experience I've ever had.
Enshrouded is another / in EA but could be called finished now it is so polished.
That too, I appreciate that Valheim did early access so well
I never really played any survival games before Valheim; it is truly my gold standard when it comes to the entire genre
Silver standard given we don't have gold 😁😉
Love the ocean / fishing with weights of fish . Look forward to deep north.
Yes we do!
I love the way it handles hunger and food.
When there's just like a hunger bar you just mass produce the first food with a good cheap to effective ratio for half the game and maybe switch to something better once you're rich.
Like even if certain foods give small buffs of speed or carry weight or whatever, there's no reason you dont just make 1000 of the cheapest food that happens your personal favorite buff.
It seems like making a food/hunger mechanic all three of interesting, in depth and simple to learn is quite challenging.
Most games treat hunger as just a meter you have to prevent from geting to low or bad thing happens, or they treat food as a stand-in for.healing items/buff potions.
Valheim's approach is just about perfect.
Only unsheltered wood, and later on you can replace that with stone if you want
Though I do know of one mmo survival game that has one of the most esoteric, nuanced and convoluted systems just IN GAMES in general for its food/hunger
you should be able to melee moder without dodging any of its attacks with a serpent scale shield and maxed silver gear
the ice shards it spits is the only attack that does pretty high damage like 40hp if you take it head on
Found it, I joined valheim on 02-28-2021
yagluth was added before valheim went into early access, so before february 2021
Gotcha, so i joined after he came in
The iron tower shield is just as good.
Of course the BM tower shield is such a beast, you don't even need to make the flametal shield once you can.
Serpent has higher block armor and pierce resistance
the only thing better about iron is that it has styles
Seriously? I'm so glad I upped difficulty
does anyone know how to attach the horse to the horse cart with odin horse mod
People in here probably don't have a lot of mod knowledge. Ask in #mods-discussion
50% pierce resistance while holding it is so goated, at least until your armor and skills catch up and you can just parry/dodge with two handed swords
The resistance isn’t while holding it, it’s applied before block armor when you block a hit.
That’s why it stacks with other pierce resistance
ahh, If im holding it im blocking, so I just assumed it was while holding. My b XD
heya guys! Is there any information on Valheim finally released?
Nothing else but "not this year."
And that it's coming to the PS 5 at some point in 2026.
Guys is it a rule to bring back a full boat of iron?
Nah
But you end up needing a lot of iron so gotta get it sooner or later
For my first trip I like to bring back just one crypts worth of iron so I can make some swamp gear before gathering more iron
Ive already got some at base but I went out for more. I have 15 stacks so far so I wanna fill the ship lol
Sounds like a good plan
Not at all. But it's a good start of getting some things done in the game.
I think you may consider it as a bare minimum if you want to craft everything requiring iron, plus doing some exentive building.
It took me a good while but I have a full longship full of iron now 😄
One thing you could do when going to harvest resources:
Set the resource modifier to maximum (5x I think it is).
That way even a small swamp is able to generate lots of iron, making getting it a lot easier.
Goes for stone too.
Later you can drop down the modifier again to prevent dealing with an overflow of less useful things.
Im gonna keep it as vanilla as possible for my playthrough except raids, they just dont seem fun to deal with for now
Using the world modifiers is still keeping it as vanilla.
They're the things the Devs added to make the game easier or harder.
So there's no shame using them.
Its all good, I dont mind the grind
@hasty geyser time to level Swimming (that's what I do while waiting for everything to smelt) 😁
I love them for death penalty adjustment. My only major complaint before was that the death penalty was so harsh it could effectively soft lock you. Sure you could have a portal just outside the biome thay killed you but that just meant you could get back to the spot that keeps killing you faster XD
Default death penalty is tough for people who don’t like to prepare
Whole game is honestly. Patience is kind of OP
I got a base to build while my iron smelts
I don't like that the efficacy scales with remaining duration
Does using the elder forsaken power secretly make the player weak to fire or something? I was just fighting brenna in the smouldering tomb and the fire did maybe like 20 damage to me and then suddenly the next hit they got on me did like 100 damage and killed me, only thing that changed was me using the power
But yea no matter how prepared or careful you are, you're gonna die from time to time, especially given the RNG of map and enemy spawns and especially if you're less experienced or are new to the stage of progression you're in. So I have low penalty so I can be strong enough to recover my grave without pacing slamming to a screeching halt.
It does, its not quite 1 to 1 tho. Most of ot tapers sharply at the end. But I totally get ya
You could if you wanna be extra prepared yeah
Personally I’d more so say just upgrade your gear, and hold on to it when getting the gear from a new biome so you have backup stuff for death runs. Common mistake too is to carry all your meads and food and resource gathering tools on you, ans then not having any of that stuff for a death run. Or just not setting up a portal
Not that I can speak too much of preparing for a death run. Don’t think I’ve done a death run for a few years
Back when I did though I’ll admit I didn’t prepare a ton. Just tried to always have a portal nearby, and a bit of decent food to eat. Always felt easier for me to just run in naked with an empty inventory, grab my tombstone, and run out then re-equip everything
With something like eikthyr power you can run forever which makes you practically invincible
Have a lot of stamina foods available for maximum runnage
This is the way. 🙏
I have a chest next to my home portal with my Bear armor (I'm currently in root), a couple resistance meads and a set of food I keep stocked in case I need to run through somewhere hostile I'd rather not be naked for.
I do like that you can eat food straight out of the chest so you don't have to run to your corpse with a stack of food and worry about inventory space when you get there.
No, the rule is bringing 2 boatful of iron.
-# Kidding.
Longship convoy 🚚 🚚 🚚
The back up armor has a major weakness: You might die before you get the new biomes armor. Say you die in the middle of plains with your mountains armor because you haven't gotten to padded yet....
Now the death run is in swamp gear at the highest, 2 biomes weaker. This is pretty significant if its your first playthrough.
can somebody play whit me if you want join code is 675815 you have to speak english or finish
Valheim math:
Looking for the wooden Atgeir + Clearing a Sealed Tower + Finding Yag's Altar = An amazing amount of Black Metal
guys do you have any mod pack recomandations?
We don't, but someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 might
You can try searching in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 and especially mention if you're looking for fellow Finns. 👍
Anyone have any news on next update?
This month we don't get new word from devs blog post due to dev team being on vacation till January. And no timeline for Deep North update.
I gotta doublecheck, the new bonemass change that removes blocking stamina cost does not have an effect on how much the max amount that you can block with your shield in one hit right?
Yes, it doesn't affect to the stagger limit.
Takes too much wood to build decent base I dont have time for all that choppin Im turnin off material shizz for now f youse
Woodchopping improves your axes skill, which can be useful when you need to fight with one.
Also, there's world modifiers, giving you 5x resources. Kinda means a full stack of wood from one tree.
When turning building resources off, the disadvantage is that they also won't give any materials the moment you deconstruct things.
Unless you use dev-commands and debugmode to build things.
I dont have time for all that
I'd like separate controls for both yeild and spawn frequency
It already takes time to build
Yeah well, isn't that unusual for a survival / sandbox game!
/s
Lmfao I set raid rate to maximum for the fun of killing them
I'm afraid that if you expected something like Skyrim or any other RPG where you can "build" houses, you're mistaken.
You need to collect resources and that's going to take time.
The Devs added a mechanic that makes it a lot easier - or harder - now; making the game a lot easier as it used to be before the release of Ashlands.
kinda
want a boat that can run into the wind
and something that can disperse more mist than the current mist lights, like a mist bonfire for a whole house/base
When mining, always save those rocks you get from it. May seem annoying but it'll be really helpful when you're building a stone base
No way boys! I turned build cost off when Im trying to build my plains base rn no way Im running all over the place to get more wood and tar and wood and tar lol
That's FOUR TIMES now the wind has shifted to be directly in my face
I wont cheese the important stuff but the structure I dont have time for all dat
1 tar pit got me over 100 lol
The site that is your weatherly friend: http://valheim.kirilloid.ru/weather#1
-# Was just about to link that xD
... we have a Valheim weather channel?
Pretty much 😄 courtesy of mr Kirilloid
Me who has harvested over 55k stone just for a castle wall.
May I introduce you to this simple trick:
Cheating
-# smacking rocks is part of the fun
Ive harvested a total of like 80k total for my base so far. I already have a modded save I play on. Cheating takes away from the fun for me XD
But everyone can play their own way. I just enjoy the resources gathering aspect.
That's why I mentioned the World Modifiers.
They're added by the devs to make the game easier or harder so they can't (fully) being considered as cheating.
And for resource gathering the 5x multiplier is working great.
I may use that in the future
The first 30kish I did legit. After that I said fck it. And made a separate world on max modifier. That I go to with my character
-# Cause every plains biome within a 30min sail of me has been stripped clean of stone pillars
5x? 👀
I thought 3x was cap?
You can use them anytime you want.
Simply adjust them in the start up screen before loading into your world.
And once you're done with the resource gathering, you can put them back to any setting you want them to be.
Ye. I just have a separate world. Cause ik ill forget to change it back. That and I needed new nodes spawned XD
OK, then it's 3x.
Point is, you can get a lot of resources without being "creative" when using dev commands
It is 😄
I have a mod for a build camera. Thats as "cheaty" as I like being XD
And that in itself makes building so trivial, I feel I gotta do the actual gathering myself XD
But not the chat to elaborate on that.
#mods-discussion might be your place to visit XD
Ye, so if you're not feeling comfortable taking on plains in swamp gear you can always go grab a bit of silver to rebuild some gear. That should be fine in a swamp outfit
But again I think all this is only really necessary if you got yourself in a truly terrible situation, which is usually pretty avoidable.
Death is fairly inevitable, but you don't need to be in the middle of a lake surrounded by 10 fulinig brutes when doing it
Honestly. As long as you dodge the deathquito bites. And the spear Bois, (and also don't go at night) the plains is pretty manageable
I was able to somewhat safely during the day and using terrain to trap the big dudes get early plains mats.
The bear set, serpent shield, bronze mace, and a finewood bow with fire arrows can take you far friend.
That's what I thought when entering the Sealed Tower on Hard level.
Those two brothers asked me who was there when I knocked on that wall.
So I replied "Julius Ceasar".
Then they pretended to be Don and Phill Everly and sang: "Keep on knocking, but you can't come in."
So I went up and proved them wrong.
Little Zil bugger fired a fire ball at my twice. And killed me both times.
So I poisoned and burned him to death.
When standing over the trophy I said: "Veni, Vidi, Vici, rusticus".
And walked out with lots of BM, iron, two trophies, eggs, gold, lots of less important items and a chest.
Sealed tower is a WHOLE different beast than open plains.
But very doable using the stairwell against the enemies.
Honestly all the Hildr dungeon bosses feel harder than the biome boss to me
I usually don't approach them until I'm at least in the next biomes gear
If you are properly adjusting gear to each biomes tier before the boss? Yeah.
Quantity is a whole other beast than quality. Except queen. She whooped my rear a few times.
I found it harder when using Magic as when I did it with a character in plains / mountain gear while using a bow, arbalest and a shipload of oozebombs.
Well, Karve-load actually.
Queen and Fader are weird ones to me. They can be pretty hard and annoying with melee, but an absolute cakewalk with magic
The difficulty step from BF to swamp. Is honestly harder than from swamp to plains.
Once you get used to enemy patterns and the way the ai thinks. You can kite most enemies
then there are seekers and ticks
Hmm, considering swamp to plains is skipping over a biome I'd say its a bigger difference due to the high amount of damage you'll have to deal with in swamp gear. Though root harnesk does take care of a lot
Mistlands feels surprisingly easy to me
Mistlands takes an adjustment period
Honestly mountains was so easy, I never actually died to anything other than fall damage
Mistlands is pretty hard on the first go yeah. But then on subsequent playthroughs it feels easy to me
Swamp is very hard on the first go, and still pretty hard on later go's
Frost mead, torches, and a workbench and hoe ready to go. Makes mountains easy
Don't think I've ever used hoe in mountains
It's nice in swamps though, only recently started using it there
Funny.
I found the step from BF to Swamp to Mountains easier as the one from Mountains to Plains.
While i do bring hoe with me pretty much everywhere, i dont believe i ever used it for anything different than terraforming my base and making rough roads in swamps once i am done with iron mining. (And that only sometimes)
plains is significantly easier if you have root harnesk
Vaheim Irony:
You run away from a 2 ⭐ seeker and his Soldier big brother because your bubble shield runs out, only to be killed by a 2⭐ tick and his 1⭐ brother.
Pit traps and earthen walls break the ai pathing a good chunk of the time
My only "luck" the tombstone is 2 tiles from the entrance. So gear recovery is easy.
To the point where if you just place like 4-6 raises and crouch. They'll de aggro
Sure, but why would i need that? 😄
Cause I am but a feeble 70 health noob trying to snag blackmetal xd
Just build walls

what do i do with all this troll hide!?
But they'll attack walls. But if they cant see anything then you can ask em for free!
Repairing costs nothing 👀
Use it to get a tier 4 armor and cape.
If you still got a lot left and are playing solo, you can always drop it in the Obliterator and turn it into coal.
im getting ready to fight yagluth
i need to fortify the base first, because i read it increases mobs after u defeat it?
Each boss you kill unlocks creatures from the next biome to spawn in all previous biomes at nights.
But afaik it won't increase mobs after defeating a boss at daytime.
Also, if you're able to defeat Yagluth, you should've noticed that by now as you've been killing 4 bosses already.
Decorate an entire house with troll rugs?
do those exist
Nope
Yeah sorry I forgot houses don't exist. My bad (any jokes I make like this aren't ill intended, just meant to be poorly funny.)
Damn, coulda swore there were troll skin rugs. My bad
Perhaps they do in mods, but not in the Vanilla version
I don't run mods, I'm just that bad at remembering lol
Btw is there an application that makes feasts actually shine? I know how they work, but stat wise I'd rather just run around with some high end biome food.
Just curious if there's a reason not to sleep on em
They can be handy and f you want to maintain a decent long lasting diet and want to try and free up some inventory space.
Anyone wanna start a world with me? (Vanilla)
oop mb, just joined the server earlier today
Come to think of it actually, I don’t think I really use any of these 4 things
Except workbench when making a little cabin base
hello everyone! I'm looking for a group to play with. I've been playing this game solo for some time now
take a look in here https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
thanks!
Ayo, this game is fun as hell.
Does anyone know what the plan is after 1.0 is released? Will they just add some finishing/balance minor patches and that's it? Or will there be more content added later? Or they'll focus on a new game/project entirely?
Heard a bit of conflicting information, but it does seem like the main focus will just be polish / minor patches / minor content. Not big things like more biomes and probably not medium sized things like Hildr update either
Do the karves have a problem with them despawning?
are your sure it wasnt just destroyed by something by the shore line?
Im not but I also have no way of checking
in the future, put a couple workbenches out a ways from where you park it
so stuff doesnt spawn near it
Left a karve near the shoreline loaded with tin and it just wasn't there anymore after the storm LMAO
It takes time for the mats to despawn. If you don't have something like a work bench near by.
anyone looking to play
take a look here .. https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
guys
is there a gap bridge that you can build so trolls cant come?
i tried making a gap bridge with stone but it didnt work the trolls just waltzed in and killed my first 2 star boar and destroyed 4 of my beenests
stupid
moats and terrain walls are the only thing that I know of that will stop a troll
Haven't tried making gap in bridge but at least enemies cannot enter 45° ladders.
a troll will prolly just destroy a ladder though :/
but could be effective at keeping them out if its tall enough
Better ladder than whatever is inside base.
gap bridge works on small mobs
troll just steps on it like a mini bridge and says hi
unless i did it wrong
they do work on small mobs .. the gap will confuse the pathing AI .. but trolls are a different beast. You prolly made the gap bridge right for the smaller ones
welp.... ill just fix my moat and wall it should be fine
If it was troll raid, then running outside the base prevents them trying to get you inside your base.
Do you guys have like a dummy world where you go and build stuff before making or creating on your survival world or like to practice? or do you guys raw dog that shit spending 200 days just to get the right shape or materials cause you keep running out XD
I do have a dummy world to like spawn in and test things yeah.
Same, test world to test out combat things and building different styles.
i see
what difficulty are dedicated servers on by default?
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Creature_Level
About halfway down you will see Effects. That talks about the addiontal players.
This is based on vanilla metrics.
Modded can go all over the place depending on the mods you install.
You can also increase this in the World Modifiers as well.
Should be default settings (normal difficulty). But the person who made the server can change it
i see thanks
You could try find people in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
nah
im tryna get this one guy
do you know how much more damge % hard does
to normal
is it like 20% more?
Iirc enemies deal 150% damage and players 85%.
You can check those numbers in https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/World_Modifiers
guys whats gonna happen when i already have a progressed world in valheim (vanilla) but then i log on to the same world WITH mods, will everything in that progressed world return to zero or can it continue like usual? (multiplayer)
I just learned that you can just chop Haldor's bear rug to get the trophy...
#screenshots message
@azure ermine how is this in the wrong channel?
Good to know that 👍 been trying to grind that trophy out and have had terrible luck so far
Btw Merry Christmas all

It becomes destructable after revisiting the camp.
Just turn raids off 👍
Because this belongs in the serpent appreciation channel, of course
Its categorically incorrect
hi guys do you use prebuild world words?
Is there any prebuilt world or blueprint mod where I can start with a ready-made base? I don't want to build everything again 😄
Most people don't
Definitely yes. But ask in #mods-discussion
i was jumping portals back and forth multiple times and triggered raids like 3 times in a row so had to turn off raids because we have several people in the server who will randomly afk lol
building is the fun part!
Worlds in Valheim are procedurally generated and each world seed is different.
how big was the gap? I usually do two beams and that works
this is fine

The joy of exploring Mistlands.
I haven't had this much copper since I left the Black Forest, 3 biomes ago. 😄
Im excited for mistlands and magic. Plains doesnt have a lot going on tbf
You better prepare for a whole different kind of gameplay then.
Because Mistlands is everything the plains isn't.
depends on the difficulty level tbh
plains can be the most chill biome with a fascinating relaxing music while u are building/farming
even tho when u are exploring/raiding fullings it can be the most chaotic thing on earth
"Chill" = massacring little ugly ones' villages, swatting big mosquitos and hunting undead bjorns at night.
ye fullings and skitos are prob the most annoying frequent mob spawn in the game
"He ha."
||i wonder if their counterpart at deep north will be that frustrating||
Ah ||Elaking||?
We don't know much of them yet tho.
Does anyone know if Yag's power also have it's influence at damage done by magic?
Wiki doesn't mention it, just the damage increase at all damage types.
ye it does
Since in increases all dmg then it also increases the types magic does 😄
magic is also damage caused by you
Should. As IIRC the power states +10% to all damage types separately (fire, frost, spirit etc).
When you hover cursor on Yagluth's head on stone it shows all damage types separately.
That's why I checked the wiki and that's why I asked.
Was looking at it, but it doesn't exactly show whether or not it applies to magic or not.
Magic still does normal elemental or physical dmg 🙂 the source of it are just projectiles the staff generates
More accurately I'd say outbound player-based damage
Well, it doesn't show on the power output of the staff when you got Yags power activated.
So it's a bit hard to figure out if it does or doesn't do damage.
The staves do show what dmg they do dont they? I didnt play with them in a while but iirc all weapons show what dmg they do 🤔
He probably means the staff tooltip doesnt update for new damage?
I wouldn’t imagine that any weapon did that though
Yep, afaik no weapons do that
Yup. It shows the base damage (120 for me), the damage I'm able to do with the elemental magic skill (44 - 80), but not the 10% extra the moment I have Yags power activated.
playing on hardcore is quite something of a patience test
For sure. I play a more difficult version of hardcore but I need a lot of patience to bring the right gear and not engage too tough situations
I think I just got the luckiest find of all my Valheim games so far (about 6x).
Just found 4 Ygdrasil roots in close proximity, with a ribcase and a skull nearby.
So basically a spot to keep my portal safe, to harvest sap, to get black marble (which I don't need anymore) and to get soft tissue (which I don't need for now either).
Combine that with the 1,5 resource modifier and I just harvested 80 Sap. 🙂
I tried the resource multiplier. It soon drove me crazy, creating storage for it all. So I just put it back to default.
Didn't even make it half way to the swamps stage.
The key with that is to take what you need, not needing what you take.
I've been using it from the BF and so far the only thing causing me problems were surtling cores.
So I just didn't pick those up anymore.
Same goes currently with the Seeker Meat.
I got more than enough to craft myself the Meat Platters and Seeker Aspics, so I won't pick it up anymore.
And I think that's the key. You can keep collecting everything, but what's the point in having 100 iron chests full of raspberries, when you don't use them anymore?
I run into that issue too often even on standard settings.
I wish drop multiplier and spawn frequency were separate options
I'm guessing it's probably because I do so much exploring.
Doing much exploring isn't the problem.
Picking everything up is.
Yeah, I already find so much. I don't need to artificially inflate the numbers.
It's why I rarely even breed animals
As it is I end up turning a lot of it into coal.
bleh when I am looking for a particular biome, I never find it, but when I barely dare to go to the swamp to get a little iron, a HUGE plains biome was next to where i dumped my portal...
newbie looking a sea/EU server to play
Was afraid that, the deatsquito came trough the portal with me 😄
is there a modpack on r2 that just has all the general essentials like inventory management n such?
i really dont feel like making a modlist of my own lol
I hate that, I always check NW for swamp now, but I was on a public world recently where the entire SW quadrant was swamp
They may know in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
didnt see that channel my b thank you
yeah I landed in a horrible place ( at this level in my game) Between 2 bears , 3 lox and 2 trolls .. so yeah I have been running and kiring them into eachother
NP and YW
Great fun doing that!
Yupp its fun seeing them attack eachother
Its a easy farm for meat, skins, and such
It is. Plus the outcomes can be surprising.
I am amazed how well a self hosted server runs on windows, even when we are 7-8 players at the same time
Bears, trolls, Lox?
And I just got a jumpscare from a 2 ⭐ seeker and a 2 ⭐ tick teaming up.
I wish I had to deal with some lower biome creatures. 🙂
Yeah I will not venture into mistlands before I am well prepared
But if I do, I won't be able to get that last wooden weapon, or defeat the queen. So time to change underwear and go down that mine again.
I do have one theory, though.
I don't think it was the seekers that chased the Dvergr from the mines.
I think it was the bloody ticks. Those quick buggers keep scaring the crap out of me.
yeah, but I have decided to try the ooze bombs on them this time
W00t! Found the sword.
In the same darn infested mine where I had 2 two ⭐ ticks and that single 2⭐ seeker. (so far, anyway.)
Ooze bombs work fine on ticks and seeker brood, but not on the seekers themselves. The fire staff on the other hand works great on all of them. The problem with that one, though, is that you occasionally need to wait for your eitr to regenerate.
I'm wonder if you could trigger the trinket by combining both weapons. I haven't tried that yet.
what is those wooden weapons that I have found here and there ?
A collectable added with the newest update
So no practical use then ? and thank you 🙂
They control like the real weapons but always do 1-2 damage
Not really, they're kinda meant for sparing but yeah mostly a novelty to collect
wood mace vs bats
Sledge for bats
the polearm secondary might be even better I need to test it
for maximum knockback
bats take more knockback than any other creature in the game but because you usually kill them instantly you don't notice it
yeah I remember well the first time I had that, they razed my boar farm.. lession learned, now they are all in a closed building : )
You can use those wooden weapons when facing a "construction" you can build after you've defeated a ghost and got the trophy from that.
So it's not just sparring with friends.
Sailing to yagluth getting my first glimpe of de mistlands
I just dumped them in a chest under the floors for now
Soon you'll take the journey to the land of mists
And of course, after all the problems I had finding a Wooden Atgeir, I found two Wooden Greatswords in two chests in the same mine.
And a Dvergr tankard in both chests as well.
Guess at least regarding that it's my lucky day. 🍀
Best of luck to you !
so guys i got a question. I've played valheim when the ashlands was the latest update, pre circlets and that stuff, should i continue playing on that world or do i start a new one?
You can continue playing on that world as long as you haven't been to the north.
I only have the axe left to find. Very old world but im sure there are more.medows left to generat.
I play on a world that was generated pre ashlands, so is good
thanks guys, aldoe im kinda burnt out. The last thing i've done was got the magic robes and searched 2 mistland biomes for the queens altar but didn't manage to find it
You can find them in the viking 'graveyards' which look like that stone ship.
I'm not sure if they spawn inside those chests the moment you unlock the grid or once you uncover the chest.
But it may be worth to equip the wishbone and visit a few of those locations.
Whyre lox so hard to parry lmao
Because one of their attacks has a very short windup and one of their attacks has a very long windup
Their short attack seems to just blast thru my sheild half the time
It is possible for enemies to do too much damage, to where a parry is impossible and just fails
What shield are you using and how much hp do you have?
The black metal one fully upgraded
Likely just a skill issue then
hit box issue
Hitboxes don't make attacks any harder to block
Clunky shield box
Any item that can block will block 180 degrees around the front of the player. If you are facing towards the lox, you will be able to block it.
Maybe Im standing too close then
that also won't cause issues
ur right I got it down now
I'm fairly new to valheim and want to find a good group of people to play with anyone interested?
that's where I should tell you to dive into #1024264966712340510 where you might like minded people 🙂
Oh perfect thank you
@paper heron english only mate 🙂
else Automod will slap you with a 10 minute timeout
@eternal osprey #screenshots message wrong channel?
The RNG in this game keeps to amaze me.
First I didn't find any Wooden Greatsword at all and barely any Black Cores and Seal Breaker fragments.
Then within 3 dungeons I find 5 Wooden Greatswords, 20 Black Cores and 7 Sealbreaker fragments.
It won't let me post in the lfg tab
can anyone help me with a roof i am at my wits end xd
What about the roof? Pic could help giving advice. You can post screenshot in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512 for that purpose.
People in building related channels like https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202303747053846608 might also be for help.
Yeah I've been using demolished to break the chests still under ground
Ive defeated yagluth now I need to get my wisp fountain and eggs ig
Eggs from the Tower or Eggs from Haldor?
I got two from Haldor
It's a start. 🙂
Hey, two is all you need! 😉
Well, one got two eggs, I just found my seventh! wooden Greatsword.
I had a lot more problems to find the other wooden weapons, with the exception of the spear.
Damn, a bit jealous here, the greatsword and the atgeir are the two I need to complete my collection.
My friends and I just got into this game recently and want to know if it is being actively updated?
The Atgeir is a pain. I think I've been going over 20-25 Fuling camps before I finally found one.
The Greatswords were all found in the mines with the "hidden" rooms. And six of those rooms were found in the infested mines that look like a cave entrance.
The last one was actually in one of the mines under a building.
On the other hand, I found those 7 Wooden weapons in the last 3 infested mines I expored.
I never found any in the first 4, so it's still random.
I did get the Vegvisir in the first one I explored, and none in the ones after that; so it's just RNG
The dev's are still working at the game, if that's what you mean.
Can find a lot of info in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 or https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202170015671914506
The Devs give monthly updates (to what they're currently cranking out). They are pretty cool, the big updates may take a little bit, but they are absolutely worth the wait.
There is a lot to do in the game in the meantime. Especially if you're newer to the game. Buncha people here I've seen with hundreds even thousands of hours of playtime.
Can anyone help me with fader?
damn why is ashland so hard 😮
Tbf they've not said Word from Devs blogs would be monthly updates.
It’s not when you get the right stuff you just need to farm the flametal set and upgrade it to be able to survive the food is hella important too the feasts are the best especially for the mage build
alr 2nd time im there so i forgot what i need to use :/ died there 😄 so i hope i can figure it out again XD
Danm ya it’s tuff im to the point now i can survive at night solo it’s hard but its doable and once you get the troll staff its game over for the fortresses
i might need to look some guides and see again what they use at ashlands XD
I just used the max bug armor till i got the metal and the max mistwalker
i just lost all my stuff in ashland idk how i can get it back xD
If you need the bench or material I got you
now i need to go back close to ashland and set a portal XD
someone give me a seed to use
making a new world
67
Repeat if necessary
You could look into #1202740443352137838 😄
If you have just started valheim I would just play a randomly generated seed because part of the fun of playing the game is exploring.
I also wouldn't try to find anyone to play with on here because they won't
You can find people to play here
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
I don't play with strangers anymore. Last time, griefers ruined everything. Had to reload save data daily. Valheim is best with friends, but better if you dont have people destroying your builds for fun.
Personally if I'm gonna play with new people that I don't know i would start a new world to avoid griefers
Or make a duplicate
Imagine unironically being a griefer
maybe reevaluate what life choices led you to do such a thing
personally I can't imagine what causes someone to act like that
Love it when unity decides to give me an error and erase almost an hour of work
What happened,?
Idk, friend and me were building a house, Unity gave me an error and crashed the game. The moment I join back I realized I was no longer at my base and instead in a random forest I was almost an hour ago, ran back, and the base was in it's old state along with the chests
Weird is it not saving by default like every 30 mins?
Apparently not
Strange
Should save every time you sleep at the very least 🤔
Is it your own server , if so yes
Or you can do it manually however often you want
Now that's even more strange. We slept like 4 minutes ago before it crashed
Weird
Are you running mods ?
Even more weird
We got demotivated because of this but will play it again today
We'll see if we can farm back the stuff we lost
Characters seem to have kept the items tho
So just the world
Yeah, world save and character save are separate, so just the world save rolled back
Question: If you bring a yag drop to a new server, with the server spawn like you killed yag? Like will I doom newbies to fulings? I hope its only triggered by yag kills
Afaik only the death of boss in world counts, not bringing/spawning the drop.
Thanks
Ooops.
Went out to hang out the Queens trophy at the Sac stones at night.
And forgot that time of the day spawns a lot more in meadows as just boar and neck.
So had to run for a bit to get away far enough to actually spawn my bubble shield and kill the buggers that tried to kill me.
I love that about thr Meadows, that the other. Iomes slowly invade it as you progress.
Time to earn it back 💪
One armor piece can nullify the damage of archers, which can be crafted after defeating 2 abominations.
After 5 hours of trying to recover them, my sanity is on the verge of collapse.
appreciate it
😭 🙏
You can do it! Or if you feel like you need help for recovering your items you can try contacting https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1033392094817046630 👍
Ok, thank yo
what's the best to craft first after acquiring boar hide?
i heard there's new adrenaline mechanic, do i need necklace to make use of that?
You need a trinket, and the first of those are available in the second biome
yes is that what pattern of the bear is or is that something else?
patterns of the bear is an armor chestpiece
im stuck between getting either the necklace or loincloth
oh
can you hint to me where i should be looking for the trinket? i settled in blackforest for now
both of the black forest trinkets need trophies. one needs a bear trophy and one needs a greydwarf shaman trophy
yo
Hello
I got 2 wood chests and a cart full of stone and it was only enough for my floor 😭
What mead reduces tick damage? I barely made it out alive with 3 ticks on me
For ticks i would suggest root harnesk, since it gives you pierce resistance
Does fire resistance mead nullify root harnesk's weakness
Yes it does 🙂
Cool
I regret starting this build, I feel like im getting no where 😢 Might have to make it out of wood for now
Dodge roll will detach them from you.
But also like Asatru said: Root Harnesk reduces their damage significantly.
-# Well, halves it, and then armour diminishes it even more
It overrides the weakness, you stay resistant while wearing the root armor
-# Yeah but you know what I meant.
-# I did say it just in case somebody would think you dont take any pierce dmg while wearing it
-# Good point. ☝️
You can just ask here, someone might help if they knew what help you need.
Not really help just search some chill people to play in a new world i am a noob i have 2 hours ingame😅
You can check https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 and either join someone or make your own post for looking for people to play with. 👍
Also, welcome.
Where we getting all these feathers for our arrows holy
BF chests 😄
-# Or ||chickens|| if you progress more
Or shooting those gulls flying/landing near shores.

Have they ever thought about adding something similar to the Scottish highlands?
The biomes we have are all we will get. 🙂
Whoa goddamn I was NOT prepared for a puny one-star warrior to oneshot me through a block
This complicates things, in for a really bloody complex body retrieval
Welcome to the plains, mate
You are on the no-portal run iirc right?
Thing is I was on good foods - around 200 health, fully upgraded carapace armour and shield, I could not have guessed that thing would flat out instagib me
Yes
Yeah, the body retrieval will be... "Fun"...
Two-star yes, I don't allow those to hit me - but I thought I could block this guy. Turns out I was wrong...
yup, portal down first
Kinda low priority in a no-portals run
You can still build them, and they come alive with the lights and all - but if you try and walk through it just says "blocked"
thats kinda odd actually, I had carapace buckler and was able to parry them, do you have a buckler?
Gotta make another Drakkar, whee
If I was to guess it might be more an issue of blocking than parrying
Lvl 3 carapace armour, lvl 3 carapace shield foods just refreshed (Meat Platter, Honey-glazed Chicken, Omelet). I did not expect to just insta-die from a one-star warrior
Was a block, not a parry - but still
Was that hard difficulty too?
Nope, normal difficulty
Ah.
I am not sweaty enough for the harder difficulties
As it turns out not for normal either, bugger. Well, I'll have stories to tell my kids eventually...
yeah I feel difficulty renders certain playstyles inviable, systems need to be re-revaluated imo
Charred warrior one-star does 240 pierce damage. I was on 200 health, wearing carapace armour and I blocked - because the last sound I heard was that THUNK sound of blocking-not-parrying - yet I still died. I should have been staggered, not killed outright. WTF
Tellin ya games got wack block boxes
You mean a semi-circle?
Now if armour is this useless, why do we nut run naked through the entire game?
Nah, you use fenris set 😄
yeah if you look at the armor dmg formula, it is designed to always allow some damage through
Guess so. This has severely dampended my faith in the heavy armours...
Well, on normal you can use heavy in ashlands quite well, you just have to be careful with starred warriors, asksvins and the big enemies 🙂
Its best to play it safe around starred enemies in general when you are in ashlands.
Aye I noticed. I knew they'd hit hard, but I wasn't expecting to get instalgibbed through a block
are you ssure you didnt block the fake out and then get hit by the real one? you said you heard the block ssound?
Damn only one of my chickens hatched 😢
No, I heard the "thunk" sound of him hitting my shield, the typical block sound
The second one is still egg?
Not the "ching" parry sound?
No, maybe I put my gate thing covering my fire too high and he jumped in idk :'P
Nope, not parry. Just the dull block
Sadly, posible
Hmm, there you go, i am quite certain you can parry them when needed 🤔
If you can’t, you can always jump around them
Stabbing their back might be a little slower but it’s safe
I think dodge skill should give you negative frames on your next attack, scaling of course
Dodging was already buffed in CtA it doesn’t need more
Yeah I know, I just thought a block there would at least have kept me alive. Staggered perhaps, but not insta-dead
Was a one-star warrior and a bunch of twitchers and archers around, the only one I was paying attention to was that starred s-o-b. As it happens for a reason...
Probably one of the others got a hit in outside my block range and I didn't even see it - so the stab from the warrior was enough
well if they don't change the dr formula something needs to change, maybe scale shield block armor more, shouldnt get staggered with a towewr shield at all imo
Aaaaw bloody hell does the cauldron upgrade require flametal? Cruel!
Dodging is extremely powerful, I didn't dodge here because I simply didn't think I needed to. Well I was very, very wrong of course...
Sir. While I understand this is a video games. Even if you do successfully block an attack from something 3x your weight class, its gonna send u reelling
-# Like yes a ballistic vest is gonna save your life. Doesnt mean it won't hurt like a sob. Type thing
This here death is down to me slightly underestimating my opponents, more than anything. I still think an instagib through the best armour and shield the previous biome could provide is a bit on the harsh side, but if that's what they're going for I'm going to adapt...
With valheim’s armor calculation, starred enemies are dealing more damage to you than normal enemies with each biome
Imo, tower shields blocks force should make it so your don't stagger up to that point. Over that force and it'll block, BUT you get a stagger, but no dmg recieved. Basically can take the hits, but at a cost
Deep north starred enemies are going to be so fun
Is deep north not out yet?
Wasn't using a tower shield though, just the regular carapace shield. Bucklers are for sweaties who can be sure they'll always land a parry. I am not that...
Or just haven't been there
no
Deep North is in game, but it's currently placeholder. Once the update is added to the game old worlds will automatically generate all the content in unexplored areas in Deep North biome area.
Sup @lunar sapphire ?
Howdy Valkyrie 👋
So if I were to travel up there NOW I'd need to make a new world. But if I leave it alone I can explore on the existing world?
It depends how much you explore there.
Visiting near border - probably very little to no problems.
Going deeper - will likely affect more.
So just don't go north till I can get mauled by polar bears
What does the Asksvin cloak "Wind Run" thing even do, does it have any practical impact on gameplay?
When running with the wind it doesnt consume stamina
It's heccin wimdy
And you get a slight speed boost (all the time)
Feather fall imo better but cough cough, I fall alot
Does that interact with Moder's power?
If you use Eikthyr to bring stamina cost down to 0 you will be regenerating stamina while sprinting
Feather cape best cape
Feather cape is like a drug. Once you have gotten used to having it, it is very difficult to stop using it without going through lots of pain.
Slight speed boost and reduced stamina usage for running when having tailwind.
It used to be only speed boost that were much bigger than currently.
It also means no fall damage with lightfoot
Okay but like. Non portal fast travel is great. Just launch yourself in the catapult to transport metals and stuff without the expensive portals!
I'll be damnded before I sit and launch myself in a catapult, precision being a bit so-so
Feather cape + Berserkir axes secondary attack is fun travel combo.
Well yeah, once you go back to something else, that first mighty leap off a mountain is gonna end in heaps of pain!
write this down, write this down!
Could you encumber yourself, use moder, sit in a ship. Then just go. Using stamina potions as needed once it runs out?
Or will it auto boot me out
IIRC you cannot interact with the rudder while being encumbered.
Then yes.
-# Ships have storage
You'll remain sitting but if you get off you cannot interact with it before getting rid of encumbernment.
Yes but never enough for mining trips
-# What if storage full and one wants to have as much loot with them as possible.
-# Pillagers!
Ive already lost one lox at sea
Im not risking more!
Killed by a serpent too no less 😔
Well, I got my stuff back, and revenge on that stupid warrior
Am wondering, something interesting for the deep north would be 3 starred creatures, unsure how to go about that though. I guess for enemies it could be a fine chance, but if there is anything tamable you might want it to spawn in a different way than 2 stars 1% chance. Maybe a hard area where stars are shifted 1 higher?
I'm hoping there'll be a plethra of tameable creatures and some of them will hopefully use the tamed wolf interaction system
not lox/asksvin system
Valheim isn’t complete without tamed necks
We need these #fanart message
At least we have their buffed bros tamable. 💪
When chasing down that one-star warrior - who saw the righteous fury in my eyes and did an about-face and ran the second it saw me coming - I came upon a dvergr outpost. As I was busy bullying the warrior some other Ashlands denizens made short work of my dvergr friends, which as it happens suited me quite well. There was enough flametal in their crates to let me upgrade my cauldron. Thank you, bearded kamikaze knuckleheads!
But we can't tell them to stay / follow
Bloody hell, I wish I could raise a runestone over these dvergr, they left me enough flametal to upgrade my black forge too. You're awesome little dudes!
Build some small monuments for them. Grausten for example.
Yeah, with a ward on top, should be fitting.
Now, next question - lvl 4 Himminafl costs 45 eithr (disregarding everything else which is not insignificant) - is it actually worth that investment? I'm not using the Himminiafl at all in Ashlands so I'm leaning towards a "no" to that question...
Worth is subjective to individual.
I usually end up upgrading.
Guess I said that wrong, was referring to the dev blog, but should've said that and that it typically contains information in regards to what they are working on/sneak peaks/other stuff. (Not monthly updates as in changing the game updates monthly) so my bad.
Yeah what I meant is that they're not guaranteed to be posted each month, there were Summer break for few months and now currently Christmas break.
But nonetheless, no worries about that. 👍
Crikey, are there no ashlands foods with 30 minute duration?
Found them, on the prep table
Am I supposed to mine these ancient roots?
There is an item that drops from the dvergr component crates used to make a certain item for the glowy roots
Yeah, it's crate looks nothing like the others. It's pretty clear that it's special.
are the dvergr passive?
Until poked
So for for my first 5 mins of 20 feet of mistlands with three seekers, ticks, soldiers its kinda not as bad as I thought it woulda been
Mistlands is either amazing or OMG IM GONNA DIE at any given time
Those pesky bugs
Tics? If you aren't getting burned then look for a skull.
Gotcha, yeah Im using my aitgeer
Tics indicate 1 of 2 things. Gjall or a skull 💀.
More than 2 seekers, look for a dungeon.
Nice, I found smoe petrified bone imma loot this hoss
The skulls give marble and tissue.
Ribs are a good place to learn how to fight everything.
Oh Im in this mfs brain
The skulls can be difficult to get out of fyi
mmm soft tissue
Theres a lil hooded homie snipin a seeker wtf
At least until I become the proud owner of a convenient tower.
Keep an eye on where they die.
I prefer not to kill them myself, so get them to fight on my behalf.
I only kill the corrupted dudes. Me n dwarves are homies
Watch the dvergrs fight gjalls while you stand nearby with sword, shield, and popcorn
I will occasionally bait gjall to towers to get contraption crates tho
