I'm torn. I have a level 4 black metal axe and I really wonder if its worth it to make the jotun bane.
As the message says, you can send DM to @dusky pivot for discussing the reasoning for your warning.
One of my group (who hasn't gotten back to the game yet) was thrilled for the change when she heard about it. So for more casual players it's welcome change, but understandable for veteran players feeling that it might make things "too easy".
Imo it should at least pause stamina regen for a duration
It’s silly you parry something but the stam bar keeps going up
True. I'm kinda in thinking that parry should still cost stamina but the "perfect block" could restore some of the stamina similar how perfect dodge does, plus blocking skill could reduce the stamina usage.
In my thinking with 0 stamina parrying should be impossible and kinda like consequence for wasting all stamina.
The perfect block and dodge thing makes me giggle a little
It’s just irongate putting smoking mirrors and “adding”a “system” that already existed to make the game easier
But yea it would be cool if it was partial refund similar to dodge
Or have it cost the double it used to but give more adrenaline.
I just went to sail and you know how you can see fishes that sorta just hang out at the surface of the water. Im in the mistland and I saw a weird green fish. I was like, whoa, thats a rare one oh wait its a fuling...
As for stamina, I dont know what to think much about it. Im not a big fan of the whole "soul-like" stamina model where you cant do stuff once you run out of it. I dislike being prevented from doing things. I wish stamina just did something else altogether.
Learning how to use and manage stamina is a form of skill expression and it’s ultimately being lost is the issue
Like it’s getting to the point where the stamina bar is largely cosmetic
I dunno, its still quite relevant to me
I run out of stamina all the time
like right now, when im digging this brain
its not like I can "learn" to manage that
Yeah, I suppose its not quite what you were talking about
100% agree with the resource aspect
Recently got close to 35k core wood and I know the feel of that part
Does anyone around here run light armor heavy weapon? I’m experimenting with fenris set and crystal battle axe while I’m at the swamp/mountain stage
I like to use that combo, light armor plus battleaxes.

does the berzerkir axe count as "heavy"?
Place a campfire above the skull and dig from the side. The heat will boost your stamina regen as you are in shelter inside the skull and resting.
This is one way of learning how stamina works
do you also do that when mining iron, or chopping trees?
I usually don’t break out the atgiers until the plains. The baxe comes in clutch in tight spaces like frost caverns but I think an atgier would probably work just as well there
It's a running timer more than anything tbh.
Also @wintry valve to your point: that's kind of the opposite of what it should be imo.
Stamina should be a limiting factor in combat making you think about to to time your engages.
It should not be a limiting factor in... mining, woodcutting, farming, etc.
In either case its something thats theres that ends up preventing me from doing things. The punishing factor, should I mismanage it, is that I do not do things. Its frustrating and boring to me.
Its been like that in every game where I saw a "soul like" stamina system.
To be fair even Stardew Valley has a stamina system...
I did think of that and somehow I feel like its a different deal, but I cant explain it.
this chat has a stamina system
Its just that when I have four seekers on me, one of which is blue, and im wet because its been raining a lil bit, do the entire fight constantly without stamina. its not hard but its just a whole sequence of me trying to attack only to be unable to do so.
Because my battleaxe takes a huge chunk of it each time. Because somehow more advanced battleaxes take more than earlier ones. Because they are the same weight, but heavier, you know.
Im sorry if im unusually cranky about this game these days, but I am in the mistlands and I think its no secret that this place fills me with sadness.
Everything about it frustrates me to no end.
Like, just now I realised that the dvergers that uses crossbows use them better than I ever could. Not because they aim better but because its a slow but hard hitting weapon that penetrates armor well. They do not have armor so me using a crossbow does not that this advantage.
So they just obliterate me.
im also thinking of just heading straight for the ashlands instead of attempting the queen
Armor penetration isn’t a thing in this game
Arbalest actually has much higher damage than mistlands Dvergr crossbows, the difference comes from having low skill level while enemies always get the damage range of skill 100.
Armor penetration is a thing because of how armor work in the first place, but its only one way: against the players.
Its not like this game has a mechanic for it. Its just a consequence of armor.
Its like in morrowind. There's no armor penetration system, but you actually do fare better with a warhammer than with a higher dps weapon against someone in heavy armor because of how armor work in that game.
is there a sound or visual cue I might be missing to tell me when I've hit the lower dig limit?
Nope, the ground simply stops going down
Just found me a skelly arena in the meadows hehe those buildings are kinda cool
Niceeee, there are some chests there and you might find the wooden mace in them
Oh really!? crap i gotta go back to it then lol thank you
ok Moder was so boooriiing this dude only had one difficulty tons of hp thats all
my iron mace was doing like 30-50 dmg full upgrade it take me soooo long time to kill him
You used swamp tier gear against moder? Welp there's the reason it was boring
well i try silver sword but it was dealing less dmg soo
also i would only kill him bit faster thats all, he still could not hit any spells out of idk 100 attack i block like 10 reset just missed
Silver sword does double the iron mace damage fully upgraded 🤔
well i don;t have it upgrade and i don;t have level up sword, also using them feels weird for me so i just tested if it was worth
It is worth, you just need to go beyond a level 1 and train a little bit
Regardless, glad Moder was easy for you, I have seen plenty of people ask for help with that fight.
God i hate my self that i made my base so sooo close to spawn that i can't build in one direction and right behind my base it big ass "valley" and i would need to level it up 😭
Start a better base with everything you've learned, things are always done better the next time!
yeah tear down and try again elsewhere!
else you can always put in a floor and support it
ye but moving all that stuff Also don't particularly like bulding in this game it can looks nice but is it annoys me that i need to be so precise when even trying to put floors
@wary nimbus hmm oh ye i get log pole log time a go never used it before
thats might a plan
theres even a regular wood one but yeah, thats a good use for core wood
hmmm, maybe progress a little into the black forest, you unlock some stuff that helps with that
i just beat cold dragon 😄
also experiment with the snap options, tnhink you can scroll 'em with Q and E. 'auto' is the default and its great but getting a bit more precision is helpful!
oh loool you're way farther than I am then! excuse me lol
Yeah, Valheim is one of the easier building games because of the snap point options, most survival games leave it at an auto snap function.
Valheim is the best base building survival game on the market. Only one game comes close and that's enshrouded.
is there a faster way to use the armor stand? i'm trying to find a slightly faster way of changing outfits, and putting clothing onto the hot bar to dress the doll is slower lol
I wish, these boil down to being decorative imo, it's faster to outfit swap from chests.
ah well, thanks for the confirmation
is there an ashlands tier polearm/atgeir?
There is not.
But Himminafl fares there well.
Himminafl is one of my fav weapons and i dont even like polearms
its just that good
Gotta say, quite conflicting statement.
I just like having a shield for parries, Ik u can parry with polearms too but shield better imo
Only time I swap to no shield is in ashlands where I prefer berserker axes
Yeah, parrying is quite possible with 2h weapons, able to parry most non star mobs of the biome. But the strength of polearms aka atgeirs is the secondary attack which has AoE and high stagger and knockback for crowd control.
yea im just not a fan of the playstyle
slow and methodical more comfortable for me
if im fighting more than 3 enemies ive prob made a mistake and need to create some distance
do stairs block sunlight for plants?
like im well aware that polearms are very good, they just dont fit my playstyle
so i dont use them often
i make an exeption for Himminafl
Fair, for most atgeir secondary works as "knock them all and retreat" button in tight situations.
does it knockback the "tank" mobs like fueling berserkers and seeker soldiers?
Blackmetal atgeir can stagger berserkers quite easily with the secondary attack.
Soldiers definitely if you manage to hit their weak point, they otherwise resist all physical damage types but not elemental, which makes Himminafl better against them. But have to check that later.
Yep
oh thats pretty decent then, maybe ill try them out more
i usually just stick with frostner entire plains
It's 6x stagger multiplier with their secondary attack. That means they deal stagger 6 times of their damage to enemies, and stagger limit for enemy mobs varies in 30-50% of their max HP.
plants need an open sky, so unless you place the stairs above the plants, they will still grow as normal
is there a trinket that gives better sword stats
Not sword levels, but Resounding shackle grants +10% to slash damage.
hm nice
Also 100 instant stamina.
only one trinket at a time ye?
Stack it with bear armor and you're off to the races with slash dmg

aw that sucks a bit but i understand
Wears all trinkets simultaneously
"GAME HAS HORRIBLE INVENTORY SPACE"

i'm using it purely for the stamina
i'm playing atgeirs so +slash isn't doing me anything
Bronze pendant is solid also for stamina.
yeah but what if i want my stamina NOW!!!
it lets me continue a combo to get the 3rd hit in
i've tried out the mage loadout some more and i think it's not for me
right now i'm using a hyprid build, heavy armor, one of each food type, staff of embers, arbalest and himminafl
the one eitr food lets me shoot 2 fire balls for crowd control or at a safe distance. it's working pretty well
Ah, thx
greydwarves are so funny. they see a decked out viking with heavy armor and glowing eyes, carrying a weapon that summons lightning and they think "yeah i'm gonna go slap that mf"
does damage increase weapon skill gain, or is it just indibidual uses being counted?
Flat increase per attack that hits something. Hitting multiple in one hit doesn't help. Rested is the only thing that speeds it up
my conspiracy is that the dev programmed the wind to at least turn headwind 70% of the time to force player to use more moder power
aint no way i just got 3 headwinds in a row after every turn
and it is in ocean too so if i got jumped by serpent it is prolly joever
Sail backwards and the wind ends up pointing the way you want it to!
but then when i turn back it turns the other way again 😭
The very first swamp I found in my world had not only a bunch of crypts but also Bonemass.
Every other swamp I find seems to be a pathetic puddle with maybe a dozen trees. I wanna find the witch...
talk really loudly about how you want to go in the other direction, reverse psychology
next april fools: devs make moder's wind power work in reverse
so just normal Valheim, got it
Hey, are there any new leaks from the DeepNorth?
there are no leaks because all the water in the Deep North is... ice
xD
Valhalla biome when
Isn’t there already a snow biome tho
mountains do have snow...
DN is in the game, just empty until its content comes out. So, yes, there technically is a snow biome outside of Mountain. It just has nothing in it.
I meant mountain ye
it would be cool if the deep north was surrounded like the ashlands by a new obsticle, but instead of the spikes and boiling water, it's a maze of ice bergs and a smooth plain of ice. and fader's drop would be used to build a new component for a sled to treverse the ice before reaching the mainland
a sled with a sail? that'd be cool
i've not sailed to north so deep north will work on my save when it's released but what does it look like in there right now? like just snow plains with nothing else?
nah i think it will look way different
Yes now it is just empty snowy plains 🙂
remember pre-ashlands ashlands? a plain of an ugly texture with surtlings everywhere
Hi guys
I considered buying this game
Is it good
Welp, considerin what discord we are currently on we might be slightly biased here, but yes, i would say it is quite good 😄
Perfect thank you
the base game is a bit too grindy for my liking so i play at 1.5x resource rate and portal items
Very fun game
I would personally not recommend messing with world modifiers your first time playing, especially since they can be changed later if you so choose
yeah for your first run play on default
Remember pre-nerf Ashlands? Fun time 🙁
the swarm
Pre nerf ashlands made me quit the game
The war biome actually being about war... better times 🙁
I think Mountain was the last biome I cannot remember them nerfing?
mountains weren't hard in my current run
drakes were annoying as always but i died only once in the mountains which was bc i mistimed a dodge vs a cultist while wearing the root harnesk
no barley wine 🥀
My Valheim is updating, did they add anything new or is it just my PC?
there was some update? i saw the changelog yesterday
i'm prolly misremembering
ok, i have valheim in xbox pc
my top wish for deep north is an atgeir/polearm with frost
New atgeir would be really nice 😄 tho frost would probably not be really useful in deep north if the enemies will have frost resist
yeah, same goes for the uhh- the legemdary flame sword in ashlands
using a fire weapon there doesn't make much sense either
That one is a good concept imo even if its fire weapon from fire biome, because you will be able to use it in the frost biome that comes next 🙂
-# Only if the fire dmg wast so abysmal 🥲
i want a frost atgeir because i love the frostner and the polearms
having frost damage and the slow on a polearm would be insane
The 10 fire damage follows the same pattern of gem variants of Ashlands weapons (10 lightning/poison). Would be great if Dyrnwyn had unique effect like some fiery wave or else.
Frost damage only doesn't add any stagger tho.
Yeah i know... But you really would expect more from a special quest weapon 😄
i am aware, but i'm after the slowing effect
Yeah I know.

If we screech about it loud enough, perhaps it'll get buffed/reworked in the DN update
Though to be fair it is just an old model they pulled out from their files and decided to make into a "special" weapon
Well, it worked for the folks who wanted mistlands and ashlands nerfed...
😭
It is entirely new model, the old one was flaming iron sword
Only the name is the same
Ah yes, because I'm definitely going to be able to tell the difference next to the blinding flame
are the feast "food" even worth to make?
Spawn the old one 🙂 it looks quite a bit different
They both look the same to me lol
like i see food like swamp dweller delight gives 35 hp + 35 stam but at swamp tier food already gives either 45 health or 45 stam
so is this even worth it? I mean 50 minutes duration is a big deal but the health and stam bonus isn't
They're a nice entry into a biome, but once you obtain that biome's foods the feasts aren't really worth it anymore
They are awesome as base and general exploration food, and if you combine bes one you have with normal food then they are also good for new biome conquering 🙂
I.E. sailor's bounty, mountain stew + any of the initial 3 feasts > mountain tier food when you enter the plains
Once you start making plains food, feasts suck
Will add though they're pretty nifty for building purposes since they last for 50 minutes so you don't have to think about it
why though? like maybe economically feasts lasts much longer but they give only 35 max hp and 35 max stam
which is 10 less for the highest tier swamp food which either gives 45 hp or 45 stam
i am currently at swamp fyi
Yes, but the total stat points they give you are more than the individual foods 🙂 but to get most of one stat (hp or stam) its usually best to go with the biomes best and not feast. For most total stats (which will almost always be inherently balanced diet) the best will be feast and best food from its biome
For comparison :
3 feasts I mentioned = + 125 health, + 125 stamina
vs
wolf skewer, sausages, eyescream = + 131 health, + 104 stamina
You could replace the skewer and sausages with serpent meat + stew, but that's high maintenance
At this point the most stats you can get will be the 3 first feasts or 2 of them + sailors bounty 🙂
so until plains it is still good to eat the feasts?
alright i will keep that in mind
Even after, just not having more than on or two if you want most benefits because the older ones will fall out in favour of normal food due to lack of stats they give
Was just using plains as an example for stat comparison, but generally like I said, feasts are the go-to for entering a biome, until you get that biome's foods pumping
This does tend to slightly fall off as you go since the first 3 feasts you generally unlock give the same stats
the feast's purpose is kind of self defeating as bog witch are only accessible once i get to swamp tier
Which actually makes them the "best" food you can get in swamps 😄
like with meadows or early black forest tier it is insanely risky to sail toward the unknown searching for the witch ducking and dodging serpent with the Karve and fighting my way toward the witch
so realistically swamp tier is the earliest time to access feast
Pretty much
They stay useful until you obtain plains food, after that I'd personally switch off of them
Especially since 50 minutes in the mistlands goes by in the blink of an eye
At that point just eat the best feast you have and a stamina/health food for entry
is it normal for the iron cage panels to take weather damage? ive never noticed it b4
Yep, they will appear rusted 🙂
but also lose 50% hp ?
Yes, but no more than that 🙂
guess i gunna hafta put rooves on my zoo then
Killing Eikthyr a bunch of times with minimum draw wood arrows before moving on, just to grind some bow skill on a safe target... Probably not worth the time, but 😄
the target don't hit back even safer lol
But it also gives only third of the xp enemies give while being hit by arrow 🙂
Full exp, harmless, available and I'm going to the altar anyway 😄
Not making extra trips mind you
oh wow sailor bounty gives crazy buff
i mean appropriate given just how hard it is to get serpent meat
hard as either me being underequipped and in a Karve and cant withstand serpent attack, or actively hunt serpent which unsurprisingly has the ocean to be calm water + tailwind
Me just leveling block skill with three twigs attacking me in my home lol
My current choice of food setup is sailors bounty with serpent meat and serpent stew lol
@silk flower i need u
hey guys, i just got the game. I'd love to join some people and learn how to play!
If i may i would suggest trying to play through your first playthrough on your own 🙂 playing with other, more experienced players can often diminish the fun of exploring and learning quite severely. Not saying it cant be fun tho! 😄
okay! I'll try that first, then. Thank you!
That or learning the game with another similarly clueless friend.
"Lets play the fun viking building game together, itle be fun!"
"Bonjour" -troll
Yeah, if any of your friends never played and are interested then take them with you 😄
My first "this is a real moment" moment in this game was when the ocean yelled at me
FIRST time in the Ashlands, I am so excited ||to die there||
Good luck 😄
I am aware of the whole team dying at some point, I just want to build with the materials
Ty though ❤️
is swamp the 3rd biome then mountain?
yes
Anyone on Xbox in here? Been wanting to play with some people but very limited player base on console. Lmk if anyone’s looking for players on Xbox.
Yeah went there first. Mostly pc people.
Doesn't mean bring it to the wrong channel.
Thats not so bad, especially for first time conquering
So asking a general question in general chat makes you be hostile?
How is a neutral, true statement being taken as hostile?
The way you worded it of course. How else?
?????????????????????
Join the dark side 😂
Would love to but not currently able. I’m assuming the pc world by dark side lol
You can play with people on PC too 🙂
Not if they use words apparently.
Yea, I’m not sure who is the dark side anymore. To @merry pebble point there is cross play
This might sound submissive, but I think they tried to conquer me 🫥🥴
-# We don't have embed rights
I’ll cry myself to sleep
sucks i have to work the weekend on trick or treat night
guys how do i find 1 or 2 star boar?
i need to do some cattle rustling to mass produce some feasts but i dont want to keep hunting boar
Further out from spawn is when they start getting stars.
man i ran around the spawn dozens of time and i probably seen 1 star boar like 5 times
The runestones that spawn boars have a small % chance to override the normal rules.
how can i find them"?
how does one reach the flame metal?
I've been putting off mining it for awhile, i figured i could build out to it using graustan. but when i try it burns up in the lava. do i have to tame an askvin?
i remember there is a throwable of sort that like interact with lava and gives you a platform to stand on to mine flame metal
the catch is the platform will collapse after a while i think
super excited to get my valheim board game today! cant wait to get the pals together for gamenight 😄
there are little bombs you craft that make temporary platforms
Can we make a viable farm in the ashland?
It's possible for regular crops inside the shield bubble, otherwise the environment is too hot for them.
Plains and Mistlands crops won't grow there.
Welp, good thind I made a plain settlement then
Anyway, I think this game needs a way to cook rotten meat
why would you want to cook that
to make something horrible
if it's used in a new bomb then maybe
btw we have poison and fire bombs, could we havr frost bombs
or oh better yet, tar bombs
You looking for a way to cook the maggots crawling in the meat?
no, imagine if you could make some kind of extremely poisonous dish that almost kills you when you eat it with little to no benefits
Mushrooms seem to be kind of hard to find consistently.
I always mark reds on my map
It would be cool if they could be farmed
I also wish we could dual wield without having to make specific weapons for it
incidentally, I wish we could have single berserkir axe
I also dont know if I used incidentally correctly
Just marking them Is quite enough 😄
if I trap a wild boar in a box but not tame it, will it stay stuck there?
Perhaps I should have done more of that
i've ever only marked blueberries in the early game
if i marked everything i wouldn't be able to see anything when i zoom out
Yes it should
I discovered I can sneak my Twig so I dont need a boar-in-a-box
are charred fortresses hands down the best place to build a base in
in terms of defense? i think an ocean base on a tiny island, where you raise thr ground to create more space is better for ease of access but still very defendable
i'm living in a mountain base and many of the raids can't spawn in mountains
There is no definite best place to build. The forts are very defensible but so are the things you can build.
nah i forgot to mention "in the Ashlands"
compared to repairing/retrofitting the broken buildings
oh exclusively ashlands then yeah they're prolly the best
unless you have mods on that let you build in caves and dungeons
i currently have a small base in front of a morgen nest with raised earth around it lol
currently prepping to raid a fortress nearby
the fortresses are the safest place i think once cleared out
put in some shields and fix things around
No need for mods for that. 😄
since when can we build beds and crafting stations in dungeons?
i thought it was only stuff that was misc.
Ever since we got the dungeons build game key 🙂
the what
Basically a world modifier you can access through commands only
So no need for mods, just console
is rotten meat good for anything at all?
It works the same way bukeberries work, you just throw out your food that you have in your stomach to eat something else
By the way, why do all 3 fists weapons have the same block Armour? That's weird
Hmmm I was thinking that but wasn't sure. Thank you
I was thinking maybe fishing bait possibly in the future I'll hold on to it
Baits need trophies to make but who knows
very true and those vile trophies are hard to come by
I am in mountains right now, I am hoping I can get a vile trophy because I am doing a fists/spear playthrough up until the Mistlands where I will switch to full mage
ahhh very cool.. My crew and I just dropped Yagluth and we are in the process of getting the boat ready for the mistlands voyage once again =+)
Very nice, what is your build? Armor and weapons
I use swords and battle axe.. currently it's all black metal with padded armor maxed level
I am working bows up but can't get my guys to log in to grind the skill
Swords and battleaxe okay, full slash
Just use the archery target or TWIG
Unless you are not the host
I do but it's more engaging to clear the map while skilling up and I think it keeps the guys engaged in the game
every now and then I see a guy running full sprint past me with bears and trolls on em it is great
I mean yeah if you are with other people you don't want to be alone and grinding your skills, you wanna play with your buddies together
Are you the host of the server?
yes I am
is it not possible to let another player to use cheats in a server im hosting
Oh so you can load up the server anytime and grind solo your skills on the TWIG
That's good
Not possible in vanilla game.
we were renovating our base quite far south, and my friend died jumping off the roof and he spawned back in the boss trophy altar and i'm too lazy to go pick him up by boat
His fault but it is your friend so idk
That's why I eat food basically all the time so that I do not die to fall damage or tree falling on me damage
The run backs are the most annoying thing
Turns into running simulator fast, even with portals
Unless you don't die 😅
Oh yeah, that's likely
All you do in valheim is die and run back to get stuff that took 3 hours to get to
Die, spawn, no armor, no resources, 25 hp, no damage reduction, kill a few things, cook food, hightail it back to your grave and get killed running through plains by a deathsquito after spending 30minutes non stop running and pausing to make sure nothing will catch you out of stamina
surely you have old armors you can put on
That or just let the gear go and spend another few days getting back to where you were
it's not hard to get your stuff back unless you're playing on hard or are in a really bad spot
I usually die because it's a really bad spot
when i die it's either really really bad of it was bs
imagine surveying everything around you, making sure there's no threat before cutting down one single tree, and by the time the log is falling a seeker AND a gjall are high on your tail seemingly out of nowhere...
Are dev commands working on xbox? And how i use em?
google exists
Go to settings and there should be "enable console" in gameplay tab 🙂
I found nothing that was really Helping 🙃 99% was for PC. Bit sassy you are
Ty i will try it out later
And should be LB + LT + Start combo 😄
If you are having so much trouble in valheim you can change the world modifiers to make the enemies easier or to not lose your equipped items when you die
Or passive enemies even
I personally with normal difficulty in my main playthrough only died 3 times in the whole playthrough and killed Fader
I made the game on easy Mode because i dont have much time and its my first playthrough so i just wanna see what the game does have and not be Stuck for days
Practice parrying with your normal shield or buckler, super useful and strong
Its LT+RT+LB+RB+ start Button i made it work finally tysm ☺️
Hi I am looking to start a new adventure with players I am new in the game
Hi, look no further than https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
2nd boss aint to bad solo
is there always queen bee in hive i killed one and didnt get one
There is always quaranteed queen bee. It might get elevated bit higher when you break the hives.
ill take another look ty
Just a note if any item is on ground outside of spawnproof area for an hour it will despawn.
yea i dont see it
It probably despawned then.
naw it was just 15 min ago
Ok, did you check inside wall, it can sometimes clip through and stay there.
Then if there is water next to the hut it could also been dropped into water.
Hmm. Did you miss it somehow in your inventory then?
nope
You got the honey from it, right?
No it doesn't, breaking the hive guarantees the queen bee drop.
Hmm, can't tell why you wouldn't get one from the earlier one.
weirld glitch or i dunno
Hello, do you know if they have said anything about expanding the inventory space in some way? Or placing equipment items in a separate space? I've been playing the new update and between food, potions, weapons, and trinkets, the inventory fills up quickly.
The developers did make a post asking players what they would do to improve inventory, so they're putting out feelers at the very least.
I think weight should be a little higher from the start
Where's this post?
Weight's not really a problem, just the amount of inventory slots available, another slot which you'll never get back was recently sucked up by trinkets
Spawning naked in a fresh reality with no experience in anything and being able to carry 300lbs isn't too bad.
dedicated armor and trinkets slots would be nice
having very limited inventory space doesn't make the game feel harder and more rewarding, it's just annoying
A system for backpacks would be neat, could have giant backpacks with debuffs and tiny backpacks with buffs.
Worn items slots = good.
Backpacks = why even have slots...
Personally not a fan of backpacks.
The only way I see backpacks as a good addition is if they take the same slot as the belt.
So you can either have more weight capacity or more slot capacity, not both.
Be nice if you could use wisp and belt at same time
be nice if wisp removes fog permanently in mistlands wherever it travels
so i actually have incentive to go explore instead of keep guessing what i will encounter when i go further ahead, maybe another cliff, another minee, seeker soldier, more seeker soldiers because why not
Anyone here get a 5 star fish legit (no devcommands or mods)
at this rate there is no much incentive to explore mistlands other than getting the brain matter something that turns into energy ball or sth. Copper and Iron are already farmable at other 2 much much easier biome
5 star fish? or u mean lvl 5 fish
Yes
If you want to be technical it's quality 5
You cannot even spawn quality 5 fish with commands.
But so far gotten 6 out of 12 fish with quality 5.
What's your strategy to find them
I mean i never saw a 5 star fish so i wanna ask
I havent playd this game for a year
That's the neat part: I don't have a strategy.
Idk how to even reel in big fish, they drain stamina like crazy
Fish have 20% chance to gain extra quality, so gaining quality 4 times is very small chance.
So i just either fish and then just drag it into land and collect it or row a boat and letting the hook be at 2m and just reel in when hooked
The concept of a backpack with hindering effects borders too much with the idea behind carts.
Can you grow a garden inside? Like have a stone floor, throw down grass, cultivate it, plant?
Crops must not be covered by roofs. Or anything, I think
Perhaps after Deep North, there will be a secret, ultimate boss in the Ocean biome: a giant seagull.
After defeating the DN boss you unlock seagull raids. They don't destroy or kill anything, but they steal any food items they find.
With one exception (and even that exception has caveats), you can't grow things indoors.
Is that why kids are shorter these days? Because they never go outside? 😏
what's the exception?
Ashvines must be grown outdoors, but once they're grown you can build around them and give them a roof, and they will continue to grow vineberries
thank you for this personalised hell.
I can't even begin to express how passionately I hate seagulls irl
uhh did i do something? my minimap won't zoom in as much as before
but it zooms out really really far now
Does it make sense to have a mixed pig and chicken farm?
Or do they influence each other
It is video game, does any of it make sense?
they do not influance each other, both pigs and chicken don't know how to use social media
I mean if you have many chickens or pigs the dont breed anymore and i wonder if you mix them, how does it count
they only cross breeed if u have crossplay on
Doesent matter really 🙂
pig and chicken breed number is separate
They have separate systems.
thx
What happens if you plant crops too close to eachother?
They won't grow
Just some food for fought over if the Ashlands is still too difficult/spammy.
My private server had a core group who went through the whole game no problem. It was only in the Ashlands people started dropping out.
ashlands definitely gets mentally exhausting after some time
like you have a pretty lenghty game and at the end there's this unending gauntlet with enemies that two shot you and take stupid amounts of damage to kill
i think its a good thing, by then you have had roughly 100+ hours to learn the basic mechanics and how to manage your resources ( health, stamina, potions) im not saying its not somewhat difficult but i think its a warranted difficulty increase
and there is no interesting visuals or music it just drains you and you want to finish it and be over with the game
My view is it should stay the same level of difficulty just stop with the spammy spawns.
I think its likely its overtuned currently because its the 'last' biome, but when Deep North comes out it will be rebalanced as the penultimate biome. Much like how in WOW they tweak down the difficulty of the second most recent set of raids so you can clear them quicker and catch up.
I like the look of the Ashlands tbh. I like how the look of the biomes scales with their difficult, they become more foreign and extreme as you go on. Considering its got almost no verticality I think it compares favourably to the Mistlands.
deep north will be most likely less challenging in the enemy department, it's more chill and you have time to appreciate your surroundings
It looks like it wont be as spammy, but I think the individual mobs will be harder.
Like the trolls the size of a town lol.
I wanna play but I don't nescessarily wanna join a discord or a server, well I'm open to discords, I guess I'm just not looking to vc right now and I assume it's heavily used - recruit me pls, will chop wood for lowest bidder
Yeah I know it was more of feeling it out, i'm not gunna make a thread about it
Cheers though
there is a large amount of players that enjoy the difficulty increase and would be quite disappointed if they were to lower it. It is a good change of pace to let you know you need to up your game if you want to survive. its a survival game that is somewhat brutal in how you need to survive. If people struggle to get through the ashlands its a good thing, it means they have more to learn even at a late stage of the game
not really, most of the communities are play at your own pace, you dont really even need to interact with the other players on the server, can just go do your own thing as long as you arent like greifing people
it could be argued there is a difference between "it's harder because it requires skills you don't have yet" and "it's harder because there's too much stuff", but I have yet to step foot into the ashlands, so I can't say much
there is a lot of stuff, but that means you need to learn how to maneuver and pull mobs so you dont get overwhelmed
idk, more mobs just sounds like a single mob being given more HP and faster attack speed, all in all, with the difference it can even attack from different angles at once
its the same as like the black forest when you get there, sometimes you have like 10 greydwarfs that come at you and you have to maneuver and think about how to thin them out
i do think that mele players have a much harder time than mage players
most of the mobs in the ashlands have realatively slow attack speeds
I'll get to experience it one day, but surely not in the near future
I'm taking my sweet time making a nice cozy base
target selection is also a big part of it, if you are wasting time trying to kill a slow warrior while 3 archers are shooting you, you are going to have a rough time sure
good, thats how the game should be played, there is no rush
some people only care about the bosses tho and try to rush through the game to "complete" it
honestly true
but just because warriors fuck over your parries with their fakeouts
You can tell if they're feinting or not by the sound, or just parry twice
there is also just not as many aoe dmg options for mele players
so when you do get overwhelmed with numbers its a bit harder to thin out the crowd
I mean, mages only have like, one wand that has some aoe
no
if you're not minmaxing embers doesn't do that much
they have fire staff, staff of wilds, trollstav
wilds and troll are only after the fortress though
yea, i mean when you first land its obviously going to be harder
landing is the hardest part
i think of it as the same way newer players think about the swamps
it is a wake up call for difficulty that you have to learn to adapt to
any biome you go in unprepared is hard by default
And every biome after Moutains gets nerfed because people complain about it 😄
the main problem i think is even if you are prepared for ashlands, its still pretty difficult when you first get there
but i think its a good thing
Demolisher makes Ashlands much simpler.
Ashlands is easy 😏
where was the first time you "struggled" on your first playthrough?
Sitting through the unskippable flight is kind of rough.
but it is skippable
i still think aside from some minor bugs that can happen, if you die its probably user error
i dont think there are many deaths you could blame on the game
if you just played a situation better you wouldnt have died
?
just exit the game and when you reopen you will spawn at the altars
but then you dont have the map trail from the flight
I don't exactly call that "skippable" but I do see your point.
For context, if logging out instantly killed Fader, you wouldn't call the fight "easy".
fair
First ever play through? Swamp, I thought farming was optional side content so I was rocking deer meat, boar meat and honey
LMAO
that sounds pretty much like most peoples experience
when i see people struggling and see their foods they chose im like, well your food sucks, could be much much better
I also thought burial chambers were like endgame dungeons you do so I scratched my head for hours trying to figure out how to smelt my copper
oh yea you are supposed to skip those and actually sneak into the swamps for surlting cores
makes sense
if you just played the situation better you could complete darksouls 1, 2 and 3 in order, hitless, naked, with your fists
I actually did the same with burial chambers my first time
Oh the things I’d do to replay this game for the first time
if you learn attack patterns sure. and this game is similar with the combat. learn the attack patterns and play accordingly and you wont die
I had no clue how many biomes were there, and those skellies don't give you the easiest of times the first time you encounter them
what i actually meant is, if i die and dont just immedetly get angry and actually think about how i died, 99% of the time it comes back to me being impatient/stupid
i didnt struggle too much with skeletons, but ghosts were a big issue for me
I hope it's more chill in the enemy number department, but more intense in the enemy strength department and the dangers of your surroundings department
dont get me wrong
i am bad at this game. i am completely useless at darksouls
however, if i prepare enough.
meads, fully upgraded armor and weapons, grinded skills. slow and steady progress. run from problems
I do okay.
until ashlands
the other biomes are like
meadows - tutorial
black forrest - easy
swamp to plains - normal
mistlands - annoying but normal
ashlands - hard and unforgiving
I would be fine with it if they just buffed everything other than ashlands. then i could set the game to easy and be done with it.
right now if i set the game to easy and make ashlands acceptable, it trivialises the entire rest of the game
ashlands is just kinda basic and creatively starved
compared to a masterpiece that is mistlands
It was better before people complained it into the ground.
nerfing an army of skeletons won't make it anything but an army of skeletons
Nerfing an army makes it a platoon.
I beat Fader and completed the biome 11 months ago and it was a blast!! I loved, absolutely loved how unforgiving it was and still is.
but I see how others may dislike such a hostile place
those dang Valkyries...man that was my worst enemy, besides cracking open a Fort mayhaps
Plains is where it gets a bit more difficult, I dont think its on the same level as swamp or mountains
Depends how you play
Id rather be in the plains at night than mountains
2 star wolves eat me
2 star fulings i can kite and run from
Plains is very hard if you play offensively, but not that difficult defensively. Lots of room to manoeuvre
Berserkir Mead + Atgeir makes Plains simple.
Spin2Win
Or, as with most biomes, just pew-pew and never take damage.
my consensus on ashlands
is it hard? yes its difficult sometimes
is it so hard i think it needs changes? no i think the difficulty it managable for most people if they learn to play smarter
and no im not good either, i died probably 50 times my first time going through ashlands
I personally would have kept the original mob density but reduced mob HP if people wanted it easier.
So you still get the war feeling, and can smash through groups of enemies.
Have things like Morgens stay as they are so you still have "elite" enemies in the crowd you need to account for.
If only I had the bog witch meads ☹️
Its gonna be a second hildir situation
Would be neat if asksvin still spawned as deadly trio but they would belong to animal faction so they were hunted by the other mobs there (as their skeletons around volture nests and putrid holes would indicate).
everytime i clear mistlands i keep wanting to start a new save
im never reaching ashlands 😭
Valid. And yeah, I would have preferred to see Charred as numerous but mediocre, and let the Morgen/Ask/Valks be the heavy hitters.
With the star ratings for Charred being the ones you have to watch for.
What do we think of the ancient bark spear?
Good. Why?
hunting serpents is annoying but I got the hang of it this morn
I need stamina stuff though
also I decided that im not skilled enough to use spinesnap yet. It takes too much yellow juice for now
Is it just me or is the difference between max raid frequency and one below super steep? When we had it one below max we had a raid once every 5 days or so and with max it's literally everyday
Is my game bugged or is max just everyday
Maybe you were just unlucky
Like it's kinda annoying that there is no in-between
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/World_Modifiers#Raid_Settings Here you can see exactly what changes at each level 🙂
That does seem like what yap is saying tho. The difference between more and much more seems exponential
Would be nice for a 50% or even a 45
I think the interval is silly, personally
We want the extra challenge of proper base defense being a common issue but don't want to need to stay at home to avoid getting destroyed everyday
Maybe a mod can solve it
theres basically four time as many raids in "much more" than in more
Yeah that seems real steep for one level up
and I understand that you feel like theres not enough if you just select "more"?
Same way there is effectively no way to set a true 1.5x since it rounds up in 90% of drops
For us atleast we saw them rarely
It felt weird so I upped it and now it's too much
how far are you?
Normal to More is:
40% faster interval
60% more likely
More to Most is:
50% faster interval
100% more likely
🤷♂️
Only dark forest
I say that because when you start the game, theres basically no raids available
We have half bronze stuff, since we are new and are taking time to learn everything
So that might be why you think you didnt see enough
Taking time to learn while already modifying?
I played the game with friends about a year ago and got to swamp, but I forgot alot of it
We felt it was too easy then
So we said we would do a higher difficulty
You feeling that the easy biomes are easy is... kind of how the easy biomes are supposed to be.
It's really fun so far, raid frequency is out only issue
Does our equipment not scale us up to relatively the same level as our enemies scale up?
The nicest way I can put it is "no."
NO TAKEBACKS
Well either way I will keep it as is (one below) and see how we do
We can always change since we are on non dedicated (although I wish we could do dedicated)
I think that once you get a fuling raid, you'll think that its fine that you dont have too many of them
Or "You are being hunted" when you are gathering tar
I wish this game used a system I don't see many games use, where when one person logs in they host the server, but anyone can log in and begin hosting non dedicated on the same world. Like a shared save file that can be used by anyone, where other join them as though it's non dedicated
When getting Tar is the best time 😄
I just hate the idea of having to buy a server
pretty sure you can do that
And tbh me hosting was a bad idea since I have college work to do and can't always be online
Really?
Yeah but I wouldnt know how to do that. I was playing with a bunch of friends who rented a server to host a world.
Will the world sync with each save
I could pop in whenever I wanted.
I dunno, I didnt ask
Technically you can also set a server for yourself. Just get a computer, hook it and and never shut it down while its running valheim or something.
What is the most well liked server hosting place for the game?
Electric bill would be crazy
Not more than, you know, letting your computer run all day long which I know half the population does already.
Fair
Ideally your home server should run on some linux distro.
Only issue is the other pc hasn't got the best specs
I dont know enough about the topic to talk about specs and all that
Might be also worth asking in #dedicated-server 😄
I always only make the iron mace and was thinking of mixing it up
Been using bear claws still in the swamp. They are so good
Mace is usually just because it is so good vs. Bonemass.
All the other iron weapons are great for the rest of the biome.
I am thinking I will find silver with my trusty sledge hammer and just go straight to frostner
🤢
If you try find silver without wishbone you'll do better with Stagbreaker. It will show "Too hard" message when hitting silver deposit, iron sledge shows "0" which shows for everything else too when on the area for both sledges.
Thank you
Also note that "Too hard" message shows for obsidian too with Stagbreaker.
Will upgrading stagbreaker affect that?
Afaik no.
ye it doesn't
did call to arms change weapon attacks or mechanics or anything
didn't add new ewapons attacks but added 2 fists and 2 battleaxes and made sloped combat easier
added a trinket system with adrenaline
2 armor sets
I really wish Jotun Bane was the two-hander tbh. Ashlands all immune to it, but poison battleaxe just sounds awesome.
sounds awesome but then you realize poison dmg is trash
theres still only 2 2h swords and 3 2h maces??
idk why there arent more.. i hate gaps in some weaponry from zone to zone
i was surprised they skipped out on sledges in the ashlands
is there a sword and mace in every biome?
I think 1h swords are in every biome, but maces skip a couple iirc
is there a generally best piercing wep, not counting bows?
and are 2h axes as good for tree chopping as 1h?
Best is subjecthive.
And yes.
atgeir reigns supreme
Can't throw an atgeir 😉
you haven't tried hard enough
wooden sword in meadows
The weapons that do less dmg then hitting stuff with fists
what, no, 2h axes are terrible at chopping trees
they have less chopping damage and they take massive stamina
they don't suffer from mtp while cutting trees
so if you can hit multiple trees they're better
They have no MtP so you can chop multiple at once much faster.
I havent considered that, but they still take so much stamina and do less chopping damage that I feel like that unless you are chopping like 4 trees at once, it doesnt matter
I guess I should try
i haven't looked at the numbers myself but how much chop does the blackmetal 2h axe do vs the 1h axe
lol
it's the same 😐
is it?
according to the wiki
60 vs 60
Now you do have to consider attack speeds, but yes 2h axes are 100% better if they can hit 2 or more trees
Its weird, the other axes dont have the same chopping damage
yea iron is 50 vs 40, weird
also for some reason, the chopping skill seems to affect 2h axes less, but thats hardly noticeable
what does the chopping skill even do?
increases dmg done to trees is the only benefit i think
i know that axes skill only affects the swing
wait... I read that the skill increases the chop damage by up to 141%
whats the numbers in brackets them?
hi
OH! when it says 60/69 chop, its the upgrade level... im stupid
What are some mods yall cant play without?
What do you need to feed chickens?
seeds
other chickens 😈
I feed them barley
Hello, there is https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for looking for people to play with, you can post yourself or look for other people's posts. Remember to keep it in English. 👍
english? whats that?
Normally I feed them turnip seeds, carrot seeds or onion seeds though in a pinch barley.
Yo, so recently me and my friends died from the blob boss in the swamps and we forgot to put a portal for easier recovery, and it would take us more than 3 hours to get there by raft so its pointless, and we decided to make a new server and I wanted a dedicated server, I searched in YouTube but found nothing helpful. If someone can help me please do🙏
Please see 2 messages above. In this case the same channel can be used to find a dedicated server.
If you or your friends want to know how to make a dedicated server the #dedicated-server channel is the place to check/ask
Oh okay, thanks
That sounds painful, I always put a dedicated boss portal. For bonemass on top of the skull where you summon him it is a good spot
We were going to do it, we even made a new portal but I kept telling the friend that summoned bonemass to make the portal but he didnt listen
And summoned him
Then I look at him and he looks at me and says "Whoops, I guess we die"
Miscommunication
It was hell to beat him
You could still make the raft and jump from island to island to run
Did you have poison resistance meads?
Yes we did
Even tho we used them, the friend that was supposed to make a portal, got attacked my draugers and blobs and was yelling "SAVE ME BRO I WANNA MAKE THE PORTAL" and then he died and when I was defending myself from a drauger with an axe I got killed by one with a bow
Then the other friend with the mace was fighting for his life but bonemass threw up on him and he died
And now we have another person who will play with us so we just say "lets just make a new server"
At the end of the day the hard work, a really good house and skills were all thrown into the trash by one who had 1 job🥲
Lol he summoned the boss before dropping the portal
What difficulty combat level did you have?
Everything was on normal
Lol
I didnt mess with the modifiers
That sounds like a messy situation where you guys went alone and did not coordinate to fight together and do things properly
Each one of you did their own thing basically
Also you did not clean the area from enemies before the boss fight
Actually we had a whole plan, make a portal FIRST, summon the boss, one attacks with the mace, the other shoots from range, and I had to keep them safe from skeletons, blobs and draugers
Solid plan, poor execution😅
Sounds exactly like the kind of friend I'd rather go out for drinks with than ever play a video game with
I was the one who made the plan for the boss, the friend that was supposed make the portal suggested the portal thing I said sure
He didnt do HIS job that he assigned himself with
Damn, so it's the one that invites you for "a few quiet ones" and then ends up being the first one to get drunk

Well you gotta make the portal the moment you discover the boss altar
Just have the exploration kit on you, consisting of boat + portal
Yea😭
I just hope this time nobody forgets to make a portal
On another note, how'd you even die to bonemass? Undergeared?
They had poison resistance meads I know that much
No, the 3 of us had iron Armour, but I had a wooden mask for the poison damage
Was anyone a mace user?
Yes
If you have the root mask you do not need the poison resistance mead, they do not stack
You blame it all on him
He should've demolished bonemass on his own if he had a mace
Well we did not see what actually happened so we cannot really judge right?
I had it just incase I didnt use it
Mace user died against bonemass
I judge him with skill issue
Maybe some other ads took him out. I mean I can solo bonemass easy but I got 1200 hours under my belt
Plus the more the players the more hp the bosses have
Key to playing the game is preparation, hence why even players with low hours should know that by the swamp
The more prepared you are the easier it is I know
Yeah the problem is if you have iron armor and poison resistance active bonemass's attacks feel like tickles, especially if you just parry the one physical attack he has
Just a waiting game at that point
Well now that they will restart the whole server they will learn from their mistakes and destroy the bonemass 👍
But if they are indeed all new players, I pray for their poor souls in the current final biome
Even plains is a big difficulty jump for new players
I suppose, then again I'm thinking of the beta client version of the ashlands, which was my one and only time playing through it
Haven't yet experienced what they've done with it since then, can't make all that much progress when only playing during weekends
Much easier for the first landing, the rest kind of similar but a bit easier. Still a challenging biome
For my first landing 0 bonemaw serpents spawned. Maybe I got super lucky idk
No he got attacked by skeletons and blobs when I died, that was my job but since the portal friend didnt make one and I had to keep him safe we both died
Oh well, now that you are starting again things will be different. 1 tip for you, axes are not good weapons they swing really slowly. If you like the slash damage try the swords
Yea I found that out the hard way
I once tried the Iron axe and the sword on greydwarfes and I was really slow with an axe
I lost sadly
What type of shields do you use?
I used a bone tower shield
But then I tried the serpentina shield
Tower shields ok. If you like them ok but try bucklers or normal shields and practice parrying enemies. It is really strong. Also, with the tower shield try using spears. They swing super fast and they have the fastest attack animation so that you go into blocking after attacking really quick
I think i will stick with atgier
Its my fav
Atleast until I try the staffs
I gotta try the staffs when a game has them
Gotcha, was pretty fun landing on the biome and getting jumped by everything instantly
The Atgeirs are fantastic, secondary attack is very strong. Just make sure you always parry instead of just blocking and don' t parry 2 star enemies
Bet, ill have thay in mind
I've used spears and I was sure that I will use spears the entire game, but when my friend who was with the mace said "Yo wanna try a weapon, I dont really like it" and I said sure
Since then atgier is my fav
On my Main character I have the polearms, swords, clubs, axes and bows skills to lvl 100. Ready for the 1.0 patch
Now I am in the plains currently doing a fists/spears playthrough, a new playthrough and going to switch to full mage when I get to the Mistlands
Damn😭 the fact that atgier is really good against trolls is amazing
What's a really fast way to level up skills?
T.W.I.G. would be one way to fast level up weapon skills.
Do you know of the TWIG?
Oh yea
In the next server I will definitely make it
Previously known as "battle brother".
What does TWIG stand for?
It is the name of the dummy

Go to the burial chambers in the black forest and kill ghosts
Yea but im just curious why T.W.I.G.
Introduced my friend to the Mistlands last night and he was soooooooo adamant on bringing his tower shield.. First thing we run into was a gjall.... Never seen a viking run so fast with a tower shield untill he couldn't HA
I have some plasma in the 1st server I gotta get them
a slender woody shoot growing from a branch or stem of a tree or shrub.
Did you bring a hoe for flattening the ground so your not waste deep in muck?
Brother did you just post the definition for twig?
I am sure this message makes more sense when in context because out of context I have no idea what you are saying
Whos?
Now it makes sense💪
The boss wasn't that near a muck
I see
In the past I have dropped a work bench and brought a few stones with me to level the ground around the bonemass altar
The conversation started 1 hour ago I think
Yes and its still going👨
Ah okay, I couldn't find the bonemass bit anywhere 😅
Yeah you gotta scroll and scroll
I mean the subject was changed a bit
I been reading a bit for a while 😆
It started from here
The power of the reply function 😛
I said I"m sorry lol
Your welcome😂
Its just a bit
No need you did not commit a sin
Damn that was over 3 hours ago
Almost 4
Anyways another question what do i do to not freeze in the mountains
Frost Resist Mead
You kill leeches from the swamp and unlock the frost resistance mead. After that you can wear the Fenris Coat or Wolf armor chest piece or Wolf Hide Cape to get a permanent frost resistance buff
Which has more armour?
The wolf armor chest piece for sure
We have 2 wolf skin and I know that isnt enough😭
1st thing we died in the black forest were the wolves
They do be hungry lol
That's pretty common, just takes one friend to inch up a snowy mountain.
Too hungry if u ask me😭
20 silver, 5 wolf pelts and 1 chain to make the Wolf Hide Chestpiece
Damn
For the next server
You can still recover your things from your current server I believe
I can help you in 4 hours from now
I see
Oh wow we are at the same timezone ok, unfortunately I go to bed at that time. Hold up let me dm you
Bet
I dmed you
Nice I got lucky with a 2 star boar near my base at a boar runestone 🤘
Niceeee time to tame
Although after the Mistlands they become obsolete, basically as soon as you get chicken
I use my personal boar pens as decorations around the base
they look like tiny round huts and add a bit of variety to the landscape
Maybe for you but I utilize banners on every build, their feast is quite reasonable material wise, and I utilize sausages for base work. Sausages are easy to have an abundance of.
Sausages are great base food
yeah same with bread
Sausages are great, but chicken meat I stronger tho
I didn't mean to imply sausages are stronger if I did.
@magic yew is probably a bot
Send DM to @dusky pivot to address that to moderators. 👍
Serpent stew is cool :3
yes but hard to make unfortunately
I just save it only for boss fights
I sailed around in my boat and got as much as I can. Dragged the em to shore to so I can get the scales
Turns out you don't need cold resistance while you're under a silver deposit. You get sheltered buff. 😛
definitely not safe though because drakes come and shoot you
dodge dip duck dodge and dive
what about mine
If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a drake
how much fish can fish fish before fish fish fish?

This is still to this day the definition of a fever dream - in song form

Yo what I just died to a bear near river and tombstone is nowhere to be found.. help??
Phew. I thought i lost em forever turns out it bugged i had to go inside a dungeon for it to appear again?
Are there any phone apps for valheim? A recipe guide would be nice
Food sheet is pinned in this channel.
Next time just post in ONE channel plz...
Why?
Because mutli-channel posting of the same message is annoying and can be considered spam?
Well, for one reason:
It makes it easier for other users to see if the question has been answered already or not.
Another reason: it takes some pressure of the moderators.
I don't think so, it's a 150k server of course there would be a lot of ppl hiding some chats not all ppl like you that have all chats open if i post them all in the same chat that would be spam
Whether you think so or not isn't exactly relevant compared to facts. 🤷♂️
I gave you a fact
So did I, yet you're arguing with it 😄
And you are arguing with mine 😂 so let's just end this already
Where am I arguing with any fact you presented?
Server pop? - Fact, not argued.
People hide chats? - Fact, not argued.
Posting in all chats is spam? - Fact, not argued.
You said I'm arguing with you when i just presented some facts from my perspective How am I arguing with you then? Yet you consider yourself not arguing with me it's the same for me too
"can be considered spam"
-I don't think so
"Whether you think so or not..."
👍
there are rules 🤔
And I didn't break any of them
In different chats
Spamming is sanding the same mesg multiple times in one chat in a short time period not the same mesg in different chats after all not all pp have all chats open it's a 150k server how I'm i spamming with just 4 mesgs in just 4 chats
Dude.. don't argue with Smiffe..
This whole thing should have just been- You asked, you got your answer, I noted to not post in multiple channels I EVEN SAID PLEASE, to which you say "Ok 👍 " and we all move on.
Yet here we are...
I was thinking, what if the introduction story we get is actually a lie and we're actually an unknown forsaken, used to make life easier for Odin?
Think of it: we're send to Valheim to slay the Forsaken, which can't really die.
And neither can we.
Yes, we might loose some of the experience we have gathered, but eventually we rise again, are able to get our things back and continue our journey.
Just like the Forsaken can be summoned over and over again, if we like.
And Odin monitoring us?
Sure, the old guy wants to figure out if he has to deal with one opponent or multiple. And we're doing exactly what he wants, removing the competition and thus making it easier for him to deal with only one enemy, instead of many.
That's some deep north conspiracy right there.
It's one of the oldest political strategies: divide and conquer / rule.
Well there's something to be said when it comes to how compliant we are to a figure like Odin.
The very nature of our characters speaks to things being as they seem.
Another thing that speaks for what I said: In basically all mythologies it takes multiple "good" people / gods to defeat one bad person / god.
And all the sudden there's ONE person that has to defeat multiple bad persons? Realy?
We're just a proverbial gardener in this field of weeds.
OR...
Valkyrie drops us into Valheim and we roll up smashing Forsaken out of the way because "I'm goddamn Mr. Terrific." 😏
Also, it can be done by multiple people.
but what about the other vikings that came before us? They left behind runestones and ruined shacks all over the world, but they're nowhere to be found. What happened to them? Did they succeed? Did they fail? The fact all the forsaken bosses are still there doesn't necessarily mean they failed. In fact, it might be they succeeded and arose to Valhalla, since they, just like us, can't actually die.
and if they actually succeeded in their venture, your theory about Odin crumbles
I think the opening scrawl is accurate about us.
I think the previous Vikings did what most players are doing 😄 Getting caught up in Valheim itself instead of eyes on the goal of Valhalla. 😄
highly likely, yes 😂
To be fair, we just can't reach Valhalla yet
We will in 1.0
and once we do reach Valhalla we'll just decide to go back
1.0 The Feast in the Great Hall with Odin
We don't know that yet.
We kinda do though, unless the path we're told about changes with 1.0, it is stated we will go to Valhalla after killing the Forsaken.
I bet there’ll be an option to stay in the 10th world if we want
Just from a gameplay perspective
New Game plus on 1.0 would be hype
rather than boring banquets with Odin, better go down in Valheim and back to the grind
Mm valhalla biome, my favorite
It'd be neat if Valhalla had a unique portal we could craft, and visiting is just a portal away
but it's a static place you can't really alter, just interact with Odin/Hugin/Mugin/Valkyries/etc.
why is iron heavier than iron scraps?
anyone from portugal? 🇵🇹
Because steel is heavier than feathers.
Oh wait... 😄
(No one knows, and iirc it's the only metal that gets heavier with smelting? Could be wrong)
There might be.

copper, iron, black metal and flametal go from 10 to 12
tin and silver remain the same (8 and 14)
why? Who the hell knows, because it makes no realistic sense (there might be some game logic behind it, but the intention behind the choice is not clear to me)
all ores technically have impurities, which is way we smelt them, thus reducing the total weight of a single chunk of <insert metal>
Yes they should weigh less after smelting lol
and yes, steel is heavier, but only because you're supposed to add carbon to the mix while the iron is being smelted
Valheim does not have steel
the only reason I can think of for having this difference in weight is to perhaps make it harder to carry certain items/ores around? But then again, the purified version of a metal shouldn't gain weight, at worst it should remain the same
Anyone have an ashwood house in the swamp?
Doesn't it take two ore per bar?
I assume you're referring to bronze, which I haven't even mentioned
but yes, that's another whole can of worms, because it doesn't respect realistic weight NOR realistic material proportions
No, bronze is two bars
but no, you add one ore in the smelter and you get one bar back
I thought two ore were consumed in the process of making one bar
Well alr8ghty then
you consume 2 coals
bronze is 3 bars, not 2
Idk. I use stone portals and huff troll endurance potions.
which shouldn't hamper your ability to do basic math, but I understand you just meant "I don't even pay attention to it"
Nooo the tasty mead im consuming irl is what hampers my math skill
Im thinking of mining a couple swamps worth of iron just to mass produce demolishers and hang them on my walls
Bronze is 3.
Everything else is 1:1.
Valheim math class
kg of iron vs. kg of feathers 😏
WAIT
Feathers are 0.01 per right?
Holy crap no, they are full 0.1 kg 😬
I always assume one unit of feathers is a handful, not a single feather
My point was bronze is made from bars and I was talking about ores
Yeah but how big of a handful is 0.1kg though?
Some heavy feathers if they are actually singular. So yeah, they might be representative.
How big are your hands?
big enough to choke two trolls in one.
Our hands are not weight scales, but apparently that's the weight we get off of 1 bird, x3. So .3 kg.
Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying Valheim, but I'm still in doubt about some things, how long did it take you to complete the game on the first playthrough?
like 100 hours
I started in September 2021 and still havnt beaten it
it's a long game
Don't remember, although I played the game back when there was only 5 bosses in game, now since then there been added 2 new biomes with their own bosses, so now total is 7.
Can take tens of hours, or even few hundreds of hours, depends on what pace player takes.
But my base is pretty sweet
Although technically the game doesn't end yet since there will be the last biome update coming in future.
would we actually get to see Valhalla at the end in 1.0
When in doubt, wait for the steam sale because it's a smart decision regardless of how much you like the game
Took 2 months the first time around, inconsistent gameplay. You'll get around 60-80 hours of active gameplay from the game during a single playthrough
It's confirmed that the game will end. None of us don't know yet how.
Replayability is the game's strength
i get stuck in mistlands bc i think that there is s bit too much bs for my liking
low visibility and verticality are so bad
Hope so, and that it's not just a visually pleasing place, but rather act as the game's finale biome
Or at least have some content to play through
