Other items that work as fireworks are black cores and thunderstones.
Oh thunderstones do something?
I haven't tried these two but surtling cores yes
Required for obliterator and can put on fireplace as fireworks.
I know about the obliterator, i didnt know that you can put in a fire
why doesn't the game tell you this?
I would never waste my precious black cores on that ๐ฌ
No molten core fireworks yet
Because having a few inconsequential things you can discover for yourself in games is fun.
When you have almost full chest of them it doesn't hurt that much.
molten cores should create a supernova in the sky
Never gotten that many. But they make really good mood lights when I do have extras.
We need enemy spawn rate multiplier/modifier
normal or iron?
Blackmetal.
No wayyy
Been searching and clearing those infested mines in my main world and gotten many of them.
black cores stack up to 20, theres 32 slots in a black metal chest, that's 640 black cores!
is there even enough infested mines in a world to gather that many
I mean, not full yet.
I wanted to start a new world fresh from the beginning, no higher combat, no frequent raids, just fresh good ol valheim with multiple to 2x and no map
and decided to delete my main world
i legitimately cannot control myself because I keep seeing myself join that world every single day
so it had to go
I could never delete my older worlds.
I get bit sentient on my different bases I've created.
Has anyone here played no portals
I decided on deleting my main world, I legitimately cannot help myself because everytime I open valheim, my instincts is to open my main world, and it doesn't help that im trying to replay the game fresh
I get side tracked from my old world's previous progression on buildings
atleast I have proof I did make it
via screenshots
Unless you manually deleted the backups those are still available if you want the world again
Oh yeah but I atleast I WONT get side tracked by my main world
I am on a no-portals run right now
No map and portal run when
No map is a step to far for me, I cannot subject myself to that frustration...
Although I would like a no-map light where you can only access the full map at the cartography table
No portal yes.
No map never.
this Hen is driving me crazy keep running against the wall on the otherside of where I put seeds and he doesnt want noone smh
about to pull out a knife and go do other things
I built my hen house without corners, nowhere to get stuck!
tbf ig its my hobo hen house thats not helping
Circular shack with a hanging brazier in the middle, best hen house I ever had
I normally use Troll caves since they're automatically protected, but I didn't have one close to base, and since it's a no-portals run..
that was just a thing we built quick to hatch the egg I gotta build an actual place now but all he does is hide in that corner, tried pushing im into the seeds too haha
YES I pushed im into a corner with the seeds xd
Great success!
that sounds like a cool idea
damn never realised hammer breaks so often when spam building lol my mate always does the building
no portals no map ftw!
recently, I discovered the joy of battleaxes
tbh, would never enter in real, a dank & dark infested mine full of bugs & ticks without a fully functional modern flamethrower. Thats just me maybe
i got the ghost trophy ๐ฅฒ
yea that's nice. Now get two
Need 2 for symmetry when hanging them in the hallway.
hope it was the ghost one
ah, ya fubar
i have the game paused
the one where you run
make like a deer and get outa there
i have carapace armor tho ill be fine
prepare for lots of 1 and 2 star goblins
hopefully feather cap and no barley as well
So killing Zil and Thungr makes them come back to life and raid your base? ๐ค
it's what happens when one meddles. interloper for short
can someone help me stabilize my house
I second this
Ooooo that is actually a really good idea, finding bosses can be ridiculously difficult with no map
@silk token so Crystal BA in Ashlands...
Silver Sword clocks in at 160.5 per hit.
Mistwalker is 155.5 per hit.
Crystal BA slides in at 153 ๐
Frostner ๐คข is 123
yeah, itโs not awful, its a toss for me between the spirit and the more potential stagger on hit with lvl 3 skull splitter
"Not awful" is an interesting phase for "third highest damage" ๐
per hit* tho ๐
Those numbers taking account the enemies weak against spirit, correct?
Yes. But would have used "is good" instead of "not awful" ๐
Yes.
That is weapon vs. Charred.
hehe, iโm just not super excited about damage over time, me likey chop smash dead more faster
the one situation id use it is vs a 2 star melee all im gonna do is no thank you away over and over
The slash damage difference is 40, making stagger difference 60 between CBA and Splittur.
Even if the total damage is higher per hit due to extra spirit the easier staggering can raise the total dps.
and a staggered melee means you get to live longer
AND adrenaline gain! XD
battleaxe = adrenaline monster
I found a dvergr extraction place with a 2 star rogue AND 2 star mage
Ok but Crystal is prettier ๐
it is freaking gorgeous.
The crystal battleaxe?
No, Crystal the super-hot dverger mage. ๐
Oooooooooooooooh

Was gonna say that battleaxe looks like a church mosaic on a stick
Do creatures drop trophies if they weren't killed by the player?
I find CBA looks a bit too.. bulky for my liking. Which is why I prefer the looks of other battleaxes.
They can drop trophies on death, no matter who killed them.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK! ๐ญ
I'm a man of my words.
How do you pronounce "Kvastur"?
sorry was afk ON IT
hang on my ban button won't work.....
...oh wait i'm not important.
when my CB retires i'm going to mount it above my bed. or next to rocky.
Gotta build 2 and mount them crossing each other behind a shield or something epic.
Anyone want to play valhiem
does the crossbow 1shot lava slimes?
If you do enough damage with it, yes.
First infested mine cleared ๐ only 3 cores tho ๐ buddy carried with frostner haha
Mistwalker is the direct upgrade, so wait until you have THAT to swing around ๐
Did get 2 sealbreaker fragment idk if rare or hard to get
i use em as decorations
Oh xd
Good idea cores as deco
Need 2 hens to get eggs right?
You need several of these to get to the boss.
meant the sealbreakers
Hopefully tomorrow we at least get 2 more core so I can take a peek at magic :3
You can go into mines and get no cores. So any cores is doing good.
Tons of hidden door and dvergr door baiting me into nothing haha well then im happy! Got tons of jelly too hehe didn't take a peek at the unlocks yet
Me and my friend had 7 in one mine!
Jelly is important for the mage path. Best mine I had recently was 9 cores. It was our 4th mine and finally gave us enough cores to build all 3 items.
Oh 3 items ๐ฎ ik there's forge and refiner
Black Forge, eitr refinery and galdr table
Yep.
Also @cedar stump Seeker Meat is an excellent source of Coal given the sheer volume you will acquire.
Leave it on the cooking rack for an extra cycle and boom, free Coal.
Galdr table is all about being a mage.
Its realy crucial if you dont have backup food tho
Why would you not have backup food by this stage of the game? ๐ค
We got plenty of food can always go farm more serpent and lox
Heavy only craft feather cape
Ah like a mage forge table
Seeker meat all by itself is a pretty good food for the "lower" biomes and working around your bases.
IIRC 65 HP, or close to that.
IIRC?
I got seeker aspic and the shroom recipe too
Ill have to play around and find a comfy mix of food for mage
Since you are going mage, you will appreciate this: #memes-and-clips message
But they need turnips
If I Recall Correctly. IIRC
I only have about 150 turnips stored
Ah
We keep good stock of everything:D
So thats 450 seed in a few days. Great start.
Except damn normal mushroom, I can't find alot of them!
Fortunately they are in the first 3 biomes, so a lot of opportunity to find them.
We are running out of greydwarves eyes too anyway, also a good reason to rock the fenris set and zoooom:D
I'd use a light source to look for them in the swamps. Hard to spot, with their color.
In the past I have had people insist they aren't even in swamps, they are so hard to see.
if its 3 or more I'd mark them on a map near my meadows starter hut thingy usually and then you can go there and do a mushroom round when you have portals easily even if you moved bases
don't get them in swamp or black forest, so much easier to see and very fun to back to meadows to find them, and you feel overpowered even in troll or bear gear
Wish I had marked them early on didnt know they could grow back from the same spots tbh
just let a few days pass ingame and then go back and refind / mark them
I mark enough to give me a full stack of 50 with all such mats.
BTW, the mushrooms are usually close to thistle, in the BF and Swamps. Not always, but frequently enough that I look, and am often rewarded.
I always forget how much fun this game is in a group
In any case
I'm also considering trying out spellcasting, because there aren't any first weapons after plains
Cooking eitr food aside, I imagine leveling from 0 will be a bit of a pain, good thing I have a teammate who also has to level (crossbows) from 0, so we can suffer together
TWIG makes that a bit easier, as does the target for bow and crossbow.
The crossbow still takes a long time just because of its reload time.
Does stacking a bunch of dummies and blasting them with AoE make it faster?
Never tried it. You mean multiple TWIGS?
Or wait you get XP for the casts, not hits
I think
I'd have to go read the wiki to find that answer.
I'm too sleepy and lazy to check rn so I'll look it up if I'll be interested in grinding XP
Anyways uhh, excited for Mistlands
Still my favourite biome and I hope it stays that way after going through it
I still like it. I just wish defeating the Queen would make the mists go away.
My friend HATES the grey mist clouds soo much
you get xp per mob afaik with fireball
Says that they ruin the visual look a lot, but personally I'm okay, it's dynamic fog after all so some visual sacrifices will be made
It makes it kind of special when you find areas clear of the mist.
My exact opinion
We found a nice rather large area on the water front. To the point where we could see 3 separate bridges to tear down, at the same time. I was VERY tempted to build a nice big base there.
Hey is there a command to force plant growth?
@stuck lake
hi
Fader's spike attack has Way too much range
We were at 500 meters and he still could attack us
And one shot's stone portals
What crossbow would yall say is the best after you unlock flametal?
I like the iolite version.
All they need to do is make the big marble dvergr mist lantern a build piece unlocked once the queen is beaten. Or just have it require black forge to build and it would be too awkward to spam it early on.
As is, I think I will actually spawn them in when I build and toss some mats into the sea as payment....
I think I am going to build a highway through Mistlands, just for the hell of it
I've kinda been struggling with the yagluth recently. Does anyone know how to make life easier for me when fighting it?
Mining copper, or simply mining rocks (the big ones that aren't copper...)
Stone pillars in plains, boulders in mountains/black forest, mining silver/copper (stone as by-product). Some effective ways.
Then ofc the spires in plains
fully upgraded padded armor, barley wine, eating a combo of Lox Pie + Blood Pudding + Serpent Stew would help you survive his attacks so much easier
ngl I'd rather use fenris armor and just move faster lol
that works too whatever works for you
What armor and weapon are you using?
been giving battleaxes a more serious try recently and I've been really liking how punishing they feel to enemies
like I've been finding myself baiting enemies into doing long attacks so I can give them hell while they're stuck in their animation
currently getting fenris armor pre-bonemass cause I like the challenge and its really fun to dodge a cultist's fire and absolutely tear into them
I beat him easily with foods, the fire mead, and armor as described above, plus using a tower shield and the silver sword and the Eikthyr power. I just stood there toe to toe with him, drinking one stamina mead in order to keep beating the crap out of him, in under two minutes.
You go girl
You definitely need the fire resistance wine. I used a huntsman bow with frost arrows and frostner. Basically use the frostner and when i am low HP I take more distance and fight him with the bow which is easy as Yagluth is slow
Ofcourse get any mead buff you can get
I had healing, stamina and ratatosk mead
Higher stagger multiplier and no MTP is what makes them devastating against groups of enemies.
yeah, they're slow but brutal when they work
Also great in closed areas as they don't lose their damage output even when hitting walls around them.
glad we have more choices now
You can definitely use battleaxes now to upgrade your axes skill until you get to the ashlands to get the berserkir axes
gooood mornin', me thinking after work I go farm more silver to make my own frostner, cba with my sword in the mistland tickling monsters.
I still used the Skull Splittur in Ashlands.
thanks for the advice
we'll try again when my friend starts up the server and see how it goes. should i let u know what happens?
Sure
Yes you have to use it when you first arrive in the Ashlands, but after you get flametal and some gems you definitely switch to the berserkir axes
Don't be so sure tbh, the battleaxe secondary is incredible for crowd control.
Ashlands can be crowd heavy.
Hello, fellow vikings
I keep both battleaxe and Berserkir axes.
so slash becomes useful again right? my sword so useless in the mistland ๐
Only 1 mob in Ashlands has resistance against all physical damage types, so slash is good. ๐
phew, im letting my buddy with frostner do all the hard work right now
Slash is good and the battleaxe is ok, but the Berserkir axes are just better, more damage and less movementspeed penalty
In the Mistlands the enemies resist all physical damage so every weapon is the same
but my buddy with frostner is melting stuff
and I feel like im tickling stuff with my bm sword max upgraded
Have you tried black metal sword?
thats what I got fully upgraded
What is your sword skill?
Have you considered Mistwalker? Kinda like sword version of Frostner but better damage.
maybe its in my head because of the gray number, its like in the 40s
Or have you gotten there yet?
soooon only got 3 cores atm
40s is decent, if you parry the seekers you 3 hit them
yeah when I parry I do hit hard true otherwise im doing nothing but ig thats normal, like soldiers example.
Ah, right. Read it earlier but forgot.
think my buddy hit like a 300 backstab or something after one of my parry sheesh
The frostner does more damage because the things in the Mistlands do not resist the frost damage, but the bm sword is more than fine
ah thats what I was gonna say the mix of frost/spirit is whats making it better ig
They are immune to spirit damage
Most mobs are immune to spirit tho.
might make a mistalkwer or fully go mage road once we have at least 5 cores, we will prolly dismantle forge and refiner when we use them lol
Only undead take spirit damage.
Whatever you wish you do that
idk why I was told silver sword was still decent hmmm
its just sitting on my armor stand
Because it only has 20 less slash damage than the bm sword but the bm sword is still better in the mistlands
Idk how the silver sword is handling the ashlands
Because 45 spirit damage on that bad boy is a lot
Very well actaually ๐
ah that could be why then
Does it kill the charred faster than the mistwalker?
we only cleared like one mine so far, gotta find more, hopefully tonight.
It is indeed better against them, yep, and has lower stam cost
well im glad I got it back after putting it in oblit like a dum dum ๐
So you trade less stamina usage and more damage for frost damage basically when you compare the mistwalker with the silver sword
Morning, havn't played in some years hoping there is a bunch of new stuff i loved the game when it first dropped
Think I might try a solo run
Silver sword staggers better due to higher slash damage than Mistwalker, as frost damage doesn't add to stagger.
And wolves. And ulvs. And fenrings. And cultists. And bats....
Because reasons ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Not wolves, but every else yes.
Generally werewolf type creatures are weak to silver in fantasy/horror scene.
Cultists are werewolf type creatures, and Bats are secretly vampires(maybe? who knows).
The stam cost is huge. Same with attack speed.
Atack speed is the same tho ๐ค
Silver vs BM? You sure?
Could swear silver was slightly faster with the reduced stam
Well, it is silver vs mistwalker ๐ and yes, all swords have the same attacks speed since they have the same animations ๐
I must have misread mistwalker and BM. Black metal feels slow to me.
It may just feel like it since its visually bigger than the silver sword ๐
Oh for fudge sake, I sailed one hour to spank Yag and only realise when I get there that I forgot the #&ยค#&%ยค&ยคยค idols.
thats why I always bring mats for a portal with a portal labeled SOS in base
No-portals run...
ooh rip xd
Oooof
I'll just see if I can farm them in this plain here, it's unexplored so with luck there will be enough of them
Yeah I'd try that. Could cut your sailing time in half of your respawn is still at base. Could always kill yourself and sail back?
Would probably be faster to sail back for the idols, but I just can't bring myself to do it
Nooo I have my 100 run skill and no deaths so far, can't sacrifice that haha
Yeah don't do that then!
Well, my own damn fault for having the brain capacity of a demented chicken
You're a brave man for playing no portals. Do you have no map too?
Not quite that masochistic, no xD
If they add a no-map "light" at some point where you can access your explored map at the cartography table, I'd try that
That would be a nice addition. I think playing no map no portals is like getting a full chest tattoo as your first one.
Painful.
You at least have Moder power though?
Ohyes. Since the update it's the only power I use. Has a strong case in a no-portals run..
Haven't read the notes, what did they change with Moder?
Max carry weight: +300
Damage modifier: Resistant vs Frost
Movement Speed: +10%
On top of the wind being in your back while sailing ofc
Increased carry capacity too, that stacks with both the belt and the troll endurance potion. If you pop all three you can carry a cart of iron basically heheh
Useful to haul an entire crypt's worth of scrap home in one go without needing to drag a cart through a swamp
theres a mead for carry weight ๐ฎ
Or the mountains
wonder what im missing for it, we're in mistland.
Troll fish probably ๐
ah yes that! havent fished much most my fishes comes on our shore for free in meadows ๐
ill have to look into it later tho, I guess if I make 'x biome bait' I gotta fish in that biome.
Guess I gotta go kill moder! I was taking this playthrough slow but there's no sense farming iron without that carry weight.
Killing Moder also gets rid of the drake raid, worth something. Fulings can't fly and bombard your livestock from above...
Having to keep your boars in the basement is never fun.
oh didnt know it removed drake raids
This Yag fight will be interesting, it's right on the border to Mistlands, half the arena is inside the mist...
Me: <starts boss summon>
The Mists: HOOOONK!!!
Wouldn't surprise me the slightest ๐
Plenty of mods for that!
People usually make the switch from root chest to carapace chest?? Is that when it becomes worth it
Is it a good idea to farm 360 copper for 3 lvl 3 sets of bronze copper
So like it's good to preserve at least some Grey Dwarf Nest for a future wood/stone etc farm, I imagine there are similar cases for other spawners...
Just knowing that there might be such cases makes me really anxious about destroying them (intentionally or otherwise).
What's the reasonable way to think about spawners? Can any be disabled without destroying them apart from the GD one?
i do not ever remove the root vest after i get it (edit: mayyyyybe in the mountains)
Depends on how u want to play of course but IMO u can more easily change armor in the next biome. Copper is the biggest grind so bypassing as much as possible keeps the game moving along unless your wanting a slow pass and build every item kinda thing
Iโve seen swamp spawned paused by containing spawns near the spawner. Thereโs like a two creature limit before they spawn more
Any admin here online??
greydwarf spawners are largely not needed because greydwarves are super common
Destroying them will not be a problem
Yo yo here later in probably 4 maybe 5 hours Iโm going to be taking on fader if anyone wants to join in Iโm down to invite itโs my first time fighting him but i have food for days and potions too full stacks for anyone that joins dm me if interested
No not at all.
Greydwarf spawners make really good farms... If you have time to afk farm.
You know, now that I've finally gotten to the Ashlands, gotta say I'm pretty disappointed on the difficulty difference between Mistlands and Ashlands. Comparing them is like saying Mistlands difficulty is a 1 and Ashlands is a 10. I really think the developers need to rethink and restructure this biome to be more on par with the rest of the game, it just doesn't even come close to feeling the same.
The vision of Ashlands is supposed to be not so nice place where you wouldn't want to stay for long, and constant combat and warfare.
Yagluth is dead! 5 man kill and it was so funny watching my friends hop around damage and fire lol
There's nothing like landing on the Ashlands shore with your mauled Drakkar after navigating through Voltures, Bonemaws and those intimidating jagged spikes, just to realize that that was the EASY part
They did great with Ashlands, they're insanely atmospheric and intimidating. And the massive difficulty spike adds to the terror
It's my favorite biome. I do believe there should be a bit more options for area damage, or at least some form of useful CC before getting there
I do like Ashlands, the first approach by sea was bloody epic, and the sense of never being able to relax is for real, they really succeeded with that - which is also why it is an exhausting biome to stay in for long. With my playstyle - slow, methodical exploration and gathering resources, building base and equipment - I soon found myself coming up with all kinds of excuses to go do other things in that world rather than progressing in Ashlands. In the end I put that world on ice and started on my current no-portals run... Ashlands is fun, but intense, and I don't plan on staying long once I get there on this world.
I have 4 worlds where I've fully cleared all possible fortresses. I'm all for battling through my way.

Do you knock down the door to those and deal with everything that comes out, or other strategies? I took one look at the horde on the battlements and decided to rain death on them from a tower I built nearby, no way I go into melee with all those...
I usually take Skuggs and spawners with bow, then jump inside with help of stairs and clear enemies with axes.
My first Ashlands experience we did without killing queen. Sailed a karve in the spicy water, jumped on a pointy rock and fought voltures while we jumped from rock to rock. Was unreal!
Yag is down. Only one seeker came to join the fun
iโm a masochist and role player so i have to build a forward base with ~4 balistas and ram the door down unleashing the horde upon myself. iโve actually never towered over i always ram the door. a few times i used that useless pathetic crap-a-pult and blew up the door thinking iโll use an explosive round when they come out but yeah that didnt really do anything..
i usually let the bulk come out and kill most of them then run in and take out the spawners while only a few are nipping at me
probably ill-advised without ashlands gear.
I'd not survive twenty seconds trying that haha
But I'm pretty excited I actually survived having a seeker flying to try and backstab me while I was fighting Yaggy
Bit of cheating that all that fiery aoe doesn't affect the bugs
it is a bit RNG, if it happened to spawn star archers or star warlocks its pretty rough. ive died in ashlands gear to the horse once, but this was before stamina and trinket changes so i imagine it wouldnt be as hard
oh god lol, last yagluth i had a 2 star goblin join in halfway like bro wtf
but how does a seeker even find you thats crazy bad luck, probably leap frogged through 5 enemies getting to you
Yag arena smack on the border to mistlands, one finger actually in the mist, depending on the wind. So yeah, had to fight one seeker while staking it out too. On the upside I already have some shrooms and hare meat too
damn, it really doesn't feel like combat update changed anything with fighting on sloped surfaces
really??? its HUGE to me
Many player attack hitboxes have extra checks at higher and lower positions
Oh it did for sure. I would have preferred if you'd actually hit what you aimed at with melee swings, but I suppose that would have required extensive animation work
also, im going away for like 10 days thinking โhow am i going to live without valheimโ and woops collectors edition game just showed up on my doorstep the day iโm leaving ๐ board game HYPE
Yep, first ones are starting to get delivered ๐
Mainly in US it seems, Europe will have to wait a bit more ๐
Got to remember to reset to my home bed after this, so I don't die and end up here. Don't think there's enough black forest here for any copper nodes. And there's no meadows... So crafting something to sail out of here would be a bit of a challenge.
You might have to use the... ||Raft||... ๐
No piggies around here ๐
Heh, a dugout canoe would be an awesome emergency boat for those cases. Just some wood, but not ideal for long sea voyages
Black forest chests can have some ๐
There's a mountain, so there could be frost caves with bats too
Imagine needing to hunt the bats, that would be a first for me!
Indeed, quite the rare situation xD
duuudeโฆ in just opening the haldorโs horde boxโฆ these coins are legit metal AND he sells a crystal battleaxe.
Do you also have the 24-hour coin? ๐
Looks amazing from the photos i have seen.
what is the 24 hour coin?
i havent even opened the main box yet just the little extra goodies from the take my money version
Its a coin that people who backed in the first 24 hours get with the board game
ohhhโฆ i do not.
i watched way too many preview videos and thought about it before buying
if i knew there was fomo loot ida just bought it
i can say all the take my money extra seems pretty worth, wooden figures and all seem super quality
I also got the collectors + wooden furniture and the fancy dice ๐
Though i didnt get mine yet i saw other people showing the dice and they are also really good looking
they are. Theyโre very fancy, but still legible.
Love it when trolls have spawned down by the beach and are just looking out towards the horizon. They look like they're thinking about swimming over to see what's on the other side.
iโm just waiting for the toddler to wake up before we can leave, then I have a 5 hour drive thinking about how badly I want to play the game, probably canโt even play it for another day or two till I get everything unpacked and read the instructions and everything
Using fists in mistlands is still a big struggle
can't parry can't block
does kick stagger seekers?
only the regular ones
i dont think claws are meant to block
elite ones don't care much
that does sound rough
they should be able to parry I think
you don't have a shield so they should have more base block
i wanna try them one run, theyโre on the list of runs i wanna do
my goal is to use fist until I get to mistlands and then switch to Magic because one weapon trail stops and the other picks up
also parrying and blocking is kinda ruined by random damage spread
sometimes you parry sometimes you get guardbroken and die
okay stunlocking 2-star seekers is possible when you're 1 on 1
I think the idea is you primarily dodgeroll with those, but I can't say I'm an expert on the matter, never crafted any fist weapon..
guysssss how to switch back to the eikhtyr power in valheim
By asking in multiple channels for no reason.
My bad, i didnt see the valheim-chat before writing in general
Velheim
Anyways, I'm at the stones and pressing 'e' but nothing is going on
How many bosses have you killed?
Quite possibly
interfering*
Mods can definitely be an issue, try without. If it works, the answer is yes.
sounds like you might benefit from evasion mantle +50% parry bonus might turn those sometimes into always?
are you pressing E on the stone or the trophy head?
eh
I have it but it's almost impossible to get enough adrenaline reliably
I've been able to stagger even starred ones with kick.
more than 50 per fight at least
hey is valheim fun and worth buying?
Yes and yes
better than attack on titan?
I paid 5 dollars and I've put 3k hours in.
i wish it was on disscount on steam
It's only 20 bucks regular price...
20 for a game is rather cheap for the content the game contains.
But next sale will probably be Winter sale during holidays.
Well, it does come on sale from time to time, so just keep watching it
Definitely fun with close friends, but also definitely fun for solo too. ๐
Thats the thing with games, just because you like it, even love it, doesn't mean your friends will as well.
yeah ur right
yes, my bad
i had the forsakenpower mod, it had a shortcut for changing it instead
Like how my brother liked hollow knight but doesnโt like silksong
Absolute insanity
I get that. There have been series over the years where I did not like the entire series. Just specific versions of it, with how they can change game play, etc... Usually its the story line changes that turn me off.
Now - this is not a jab at you @oblique maple in particular, it probably doesn't even apply to you, I just got to thinking and have an honest question - why do so many players hop on a new game and immediately download a plethora of mods before they even know the game? Why take the words of random knobheads on the internet as gospel on what mods a game "needs"? Why not play it out of the box a while to figure out how it works and what - if anything - they'd like to change about it?
I agree
Iโm all for mods, but at least try the base game first. Also I think I like vanilla valheim best
I feel the same. I've been modding for about 15 years now. One rule I have is to play a game as is before I use any mods.
Aye
Besides, I have to find out if I like it enough to even want to bother with mods.
I think thatโs not as much of a factor as it used to be. I remember trying to get mods to work in Minecraft as a little kid, with my dad who is a software engineer also getting confused, whereas a lot of games nowadays is as easy as a click of a button or even automatic in some cases
Yeah, it has gotten easier to mod over the years, by magnitudes at this point.
Anyone got the Valheim deluxe boardgame mines in the UK and it is 100% amazing.
The quality is so good I cant say, the colours and materials are GOATed.
It's a lot of reading and can't wait to play with my friends.
It weighs a lot too so if you are a bit dodgy with your back careful.
I think it helps that at this point, game studios know to make their games mod friendly.
Still waiting on mine. ITs in their shipping cue, so hopefully soon.
Getting curious about that board game now, not gonna lie ๐
IT looks really good, but the game play videos looked solid too.
So if you like board games, you probably should get it before it goes out of print.
Haha ffs the sacrifice animation hadn't even played yet (sacrificing Yaggy) before the first fuling came running at me out of the woods.
Green guys ANGRY
Ooooh so yaggy's power is a damage buff now?
All of them got a bit added to them.
Won't make me drop Moder's though, not on this world
Pfff, just to get Magic going you'll be needing 91 refined Eitr. Feather cape not included.
More if you want to use a shield and a few "normal" weapons before switching.
Moder got a lot of things added to it, so a lot more useful now. I still stick to Eikthyr the vast majority of the time, but we now have a lot more reasons to use the others. Especially outside of combat.
Yeah I keep some ratatosk mead and the nimble trinket on me (and run skill 100...) that covers Eikthyr for me, but Moder is priceless on no-portals, saves me so much time
And the carry capacity thing too
I just still use Eikthry so much because its good to have activated in and out of combat. Need that stamina...
@dapper bane @wind elk @vernal kindle @silver salmon Hi, could I get access to join voice channels? I donโt have the permissions, and I donโt even know why it was taken away from me, as I havenโt done anything wrong.
Mod mail is a thing...
Instead of pinging Helpers, you can send DM to @dusky pivot if you want to contact moderator team to ask for the reasoning of your No VC role.
hey, im new to the game and was wondering if enabling FIre spreads would be a good idea? me and my group want a real gritty realistic and hard approach and it seems really cool, but im wondering if its really any good to enable or if it is overpowerd
i know how it works (roughly)
Okey
but i want to know if it is actually a fun feature
I've seen a fair number of people say they like it, no experience with it myself.
If you enable it you have to be careful with planning your buildings so they don't catch fire. Although you can set things on fire with fire based weapons like torches and fire arrows, and by setting trees on fire you get easy coal without the kiln.
is there a way to extinguish the fire? like a water bomb or something
I'm using fire hazards in my current world, and I love it. For one thing, it does force you to think of how you place your campfires, and building a wooden chimney is not the best idea for example. Also, using fire arrows becomes a much more tactical and - honestly - BADASS playstyle. I have never felt so absolutely viking as when I raided a draugr village with fire arrows. Hoah!
hell yeah that sounds sick
There is one, but it comes in Ashlands. Smoke bombs they're called.
definitely making me think hard when building so far. i have my campfire outside my house and a little far so i can just about sleep
the only issue is will i ever be able to build a bed inside or will it always be needing to be at the edge wall for warmth?
Just observe the fire - you'll see how far the sparks fly. Keep your bed out of range and you'll be fine.
Also more advanced fireplaces later on will contain the sparks
Stone floors can be good idea once you gain access to building with stone as it doesn't catch fire.
are sparks an indicator of fire range?
i assumed it was just within a radius of above
if thats the case i can potentially be more fluid with my design
It's the sparks that actually cause fires
The smoke hazard has killed me enough as it is. So I'm like", "Do I really want to give my camp fires yet another way to kill me?" Nope.
Tsssk tsssk, gotta be afk to die from smoke inhalation!
Nope. Looking at crafting menus long enough does it too.
Bah, same thing, just different approach. Key being not paying attention... ๐ But yeah, it's a sneaky killer
I was also wrongly assuming just because my smoke was dissipating just fine, meant I could stand relatively close to it and not worry.
Ohyeah that I have done, "wait what why, I have a chimney!?!" <caugh caugh>
Yep. Just because your house is clear over all, doesn't mean its going away just as well close to it.
Heck, I've even died next to out door fires, because the roof protecting it from rain was too low.
burial chambers
come in
come out
bear
dead
Bear-ial chambers right? ๐๐
Is there a discount for this game anytime soon?
At least during Winter sale I'd assume.
Thanks
holy moly does stone floor and walls eat stone..
i been farming stone nonstop in todays session ๐ญ
Yep. Its why any time I mine, I save all of the stone too.
Any time lox, trolls, soldiers, etc... break stone, I probably pick it up, and so on.
i went with someone elses base design for my plains base, it looked really advanced so im hoping to pick up some tips and tricks while building it that i can use on my own design later
once i get ashwood open one day
so many building tips and tricks in youtube, need to watch more ๐
my windows used to look so bad hahaha
Yep. I learned a lot that way too. Plus a few people here were willing to let me visit their builds as well. So showed me "in person" how they did things. It was great.
Was wondering if anyone has a video that will just want to make you get Valheim, I'm trying to convince my friend to play it with me.
Back in the day IG's own videos were more than enough to convince me. All the "Do this and DIE!" "Do this other thing and DIE!"
Still can't craft from chest : /
is therre anyone that has an extra set of iron armor and maybe material for a karve i could use
That would be sweet. Eventually I will be using mods There is definitely one that adds that.
just lost all my shit sailing lul
Use dev commands to spawn you in a new set. There is a wiki, or similar, that tells you how to use them, and activate them for Valheim.
on pc?
17 core burial chamber
On default resource settings?
Ye
how do i repair specific items instead of it just cycling through ones that need repaired
don't think you can specifically choose which things to repair
idk never messed around with it but ig you can also just drop the things you don't want to repair for w/e reason and then repair then pick up
I can't think of a reason to not just repair everything, anyhow.
ok yea that weird how u can't lol
omg we hit the jackpot in that last and 2nd infested mine on this continent ๐
8 goddamn core
what should i make first in ashlands? I can currently make the bow, 1h sword, or shield. im using max level mistlands gear
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
is the spinesnap better than ashfang due to its spirit damage? and does ashfang fire faster? spinesnap seems really slow
so erhm do I just craft all the staves and use em all hmm
my bow skill is 24 ๐
Spinesnap takes more stamina per draw compared to other bows for more damage. But yeah, once you find the gems from the Ashlands forts, the ashbow can be transformed into variants with powerful abilities that's much better than a spinesnap
You can also just fire wood arrows at low level mobs as a fast rate to level up your bow. The amount of damage doesn't matter to skill up. It's a hit per skill raise system
I just spent half an hour dumping all my low level arrows into TWIG it was very boring and got me two levels
Just make wood arrows, it's easy. I just run around black forest and meadows shooting anything that moves instead of standing still in one place. Makes it less boring and actually practical how you would survive with bow skill fighting an actual mob from late game
Just beat queen that was fun. Didnt die once ๐
First time fighting her I expected harder tbh I think yag hardest boss
Eikthyr hardest boss.
Went into a burial chambers, looted it, left, directly outside and i'm trapped by trees, no axe so i can't escape. Waiting for a friend to reach me to cut said trees
Sometimes going back in and exiting by using the E button can work getting you past things like that. Some times.
Anyone have any input on how the new update is? Can't wait to see how the spear and trinkets feel!
3 extractor set up, almost mage ready ๐
Started a new world to play the new update and Iโm going to do mountains early so I can do swamp with better gear. Maybe even try to do plains early too
First trip up the mountain was rough in bear set
I caved and did one crypt for some iron and Iโm trying again next time
Never had so much fun with Yagluth than when we 5 maned the boss today on a very small island big enough for the boss only. Love this game =+)
Anyone interested in starting a new world with me? I have little to moderate experience (in my current singleplayer I'm in the swamp and haven't fought Bonemass) and to be honest, singleplayer can get boring with nobody to interact with.
s
I had more trouble with Moder than with Yag. I actually rather enjoyed the Yag fight
moder getting stuck at an elevated ground for the 34th time
In short: the latest update is quite impactful for the whole game.
If you don't shoot arrows at moder when she's flying, she mostly lands quickly after which you can meele her consistently.
And keeping yourself ideally on flat areas when fighting her will mostly make her land there instead of some impossible cliff edges
Moder is definitely harder than yag
my friend and i got chased by a bear, it was terrifying
it didnt make it easier when he shot it with a fire arrow and now we had a flaming bear chasing us
the only thing that has jumpscared me in this game was a bear. was running to mine some copper and thought it was a rock but it roared very loud while i tried to jump over it ๐
Today I went head to head with a 2 star morgen.
Surprisingly the engagement was less scary than many engagements involving unstarred morgens.
(Additional context, i haven't raided a fortress yet on this save, so I don't have access to Anything that requires gems)
this is a very scary name. i assume thats a difficult enemy?
i played years ago and just about got to bronze, but beyond that i never really advanced
They're kinda like giant playful puppies that have no idea how strong they are.
They're also terrifying when not prepared to deal with them
oh god
im excited to get eaten by that then ig
Not like puppy shaped, but puppy tempered.
Their visual appearance is very grotesque lol
for context with the flaming bear part we play with fire hazards on so it started burning the forest a little
well thats not very nice lol
If you get to the endgame, you'll learn.
Never getting oast bronze, you have a lot to discover. I envy you, I wish I could wipe my memory of the game and rediscover everything
hopefully having 3 people will help, maybe a fourth soon
last time we had alot of trouble with the black forest
but the gameplay was so fun
only stopped playing cause it went off gamepass and some of us (we had about 8) didnt want to buy it
My advice would be to take your time to familiarise yourself with every new mechanic the black forest introduces, even stuff you think looks boring. Its ALL important.
My first playthrough I ignored making a farm for far too long, didn't realise how much of a disadvantage I put myself at.
really? i think i made a farm at one point
i dont know if it helped that much though
we had a kingdom with a wooden keep and a moat all up on one of those rocks that stick outward toward the sea, so a farm was made for honey and carrots i believe so that we didnt have to hunt 24/7
It makes a massive, massive difference
In fact upgrading your food makes a big difference in general.
And it's not just about having ease of access to food either, not having a farm directly gatekeeps you from making the best foods you can
i think we realised that late, if i remeber i built my friend a tavern to make the food and drink in called "The tavern of scotts" (she was the only scottish one) but it was too little too late since we had stopped playing about a week after
it was fun though. the building is what i really loved
Yes.
My current base has 2 expansions to make, both for farms (my living area is complete).
i built our entire base, including a lighthouse
thats cool, what stage would i get stone stuff?
i assume thats what you built the base from
I currently just have farms elsewhere that I use lol, would prefer them to be close
i found wood to be limited and it made the keep i built for king bob ross (that was his name) smaller and weirder than i wanted
It's not, but it's a material that is structurally similar to stone in most ways.
You get the ability to make a stonecutter once you've found iron.
oh ok
The trick here is to replant seeds to get more wood.
Oak trees are statistically self sustaining and actually expected to grow in population if you cut down and replant a lot of them.
Of course random chance could screw you out of that, but they're an excellent source of both wood and fine wood. Well worth cutting them down to collect acorns
ill keep that in mind, i have bad memories from oak trees from the time one rolled down the hill and flattened part of out defensive line during raid
If you have no aversion to portals, a way to deal with this is to just have a portal that goes to a tree farm
Portals to farms is a good way to keep them safe raids, but you don't get the aesthetic for your base
So it's preference what you do at the end of the day
anyone else having their average framerate drop considerably after reaching the mistlands?
I thought that was fixed
For me it's the Ashlands which does my framerate in
Unfortunately, there's a lot (and I mean A LOT) of stuff happening in that biome that i think the game struggles to process it all.
Especially during an ash-storm. It's borderline unplayable.
I've never experienced that myself.
I dread running around and a sudden ash storm hits and now my games like 15 fps
I get a steady 144 on a decent PC.
I mean, even right now my average framerate got from 80 to 60 despite CPU or GPU load being 50% or lower
I don't have issues anywhere else in the game, just the ashlands
You should lead with the steam deck bit. ๐
Game stutters for a bit whenever it autosaves as well but I can directly see that happening and know when to expect it so it doesn't bother me
My boyfriend has a good gaming PC and performance is noticeably slower in the ashlands for him during an ash storm as well, though it's much better than on my deck
Ashlands simply have a lot of stuff going on all the time, hopefully it will be a bit more optimised in the future but it is not really that bad ๐
For me it is noticeably bad
Multiplayer was worse
The whole rest of the game was fine but Ashlands during an Ash storm I have to leave and wait for the storm to pass.
Anyone else having issues with single player saves not working properly? I went for a surtling core run in a few burial chambers. Got 20-25 cores, saved and logged out. When I went to use my cores for portals this morning not one was in my box.
no problems for me, was just doing core run myself earlier today
time to hit up swamp and clear some sunken crypts

I was thinking of scouting for a swamp maybe look for some vendors. Haven't sailed off starter island this playthrough yet
just a general new playthrough or do you have some rules?
Everything's set to default, trying to access each area in an unorthodox way though. Skipping Elder. Playing with some seating arrangements near crypts. That kind of "Fun" stuff. Killed Ek without attacking him.
I'll up the difficulty in a biome or two
Just spent the last 3 days clearing forest for my meadows base aswell as an island with a boarstone. Just watched my first 2 star piggy pop out. Now I can murder her 0 star momma and start inbreeding with the 2 star adult.
Essentially focusing on building and farming more than progressing super fast.
sounds like a good time ๐
I'm really enjoying solo right now, it feels nice.
Solo runs can be very chill and cozy
I might assume there's a lot of cleaning up to do in their Ashlands, a lot of trees topple and instances litter the ground if you're not actively cleaning them up. I never experience this, but I will utilize purtrid hole's chests to store any fallen objects in the area as well.
It's just more busywork to have to do stuff like this all the time though.
Which tbh is just the theme of the ashlands in general
Oh definitely, I just don't mind because I will mostly utilize the resources anyways and can feel like a shortcut ultimately.
While yes, the fact lots of grausten and stuff drops is nice, I have to be in the mood to really gather and build stuff, otherwise I wanna turn the game off
I don't feel like I'm making much progress if I keep having to organise stacks of grausten after every engagement with a foe
I like to play a mostly nomadic game, only building a base when I find a truly exceptional spot to build (like the mistlands 8 roots base adjacent to a plains biome I've got, with expansion planned soon)
Yeah don't get me wrong I don't expect players to play the same, just theorizing why I might not experience Ashlands frame drops. I really slow burn my playthroughs so I hardly ever see something as taking too much time.
Danger link is dangerous.
๐
I'm running a server for my brother, myself and a bunch of friends. But since it has turned out next to impossible to get everyone online at the same time, I play solo worlds 95% of my Valheim time. The gang is a bunch of people from various countries, in various time zones, with various work hours and in various stages of their lives... The few times we have run together were some of the best times I have had in Valheim, but nothing beats being able to fire up the game and play when I want to play, without needing the organisational abilities of someone running rock festivals...
what ashland weapons should i get as a defense tank for my friend
i kinda just tank for my friend
Mace is considered as more defensive weapon due to its added knockback.
i see
Have you raided any fortresses yet?
not at the ashlands yet we are about to go find one
real question: when you enter BC or SC, which way you guys go first?
whenever i clear right path first i get the best loot, it works 100% time!
I do "always left" tactic
i used to do that, but im a changed man now!
Okay, I especially consider one variant of mace as one of my favorite Ashlands weapon, but another variant is really good too. ๐
do i unlock a new tower shield at ashlands
Yes, there is tower shield available when you get the new metal.
yessss
Out of curiosity, what weapons you are using currently in Ashlands?
im gonna use mistwalker and demolisher with carapace buckler
if i have a smelter going can i put a box in front of it to cellect the ingots or will it be ok on the ground for a while not sure what time frame it will clear off map
stuff don't despawn inside workbench radius
yall is soundpad allowed in the vcs?
campfires/firepits work too i think?
Good options. You could also go next sword when you get new metal and ||one of the gem options||.
gems?
As TenKey said if you have workbench or another player base structure nearby it wont despawn at all ๐
And even if you dont then it wont despawn for 1 irl hour/2 in-game days
Do you mind spoilers about Ashlands weapons?
nah i dont
In fortresses you may find 3 different gems, which can be used to enchant weapons made of new metal. Each gem variant has their own effects.
what do the gems do
The effects?
yeah
One can trigger chain lightning around enemy mobs, other can immobilize mobs so they can't turn or move and third increases your damage per HP you miss.
whoa
And each Ashlands weapon made of new metal will have those 3 options.
thats cool
Then there are some magic weapons that also require some of those gems to craft.
so i can have a sword with chain lightning
Yes, that is one option.
which one is the best gem
Best depends on who you ask, but generally people like the lightning one the best.
ima get lightning
I like both lightning and rooting, maybe bit more the rooting gem.
The 3rd gem most people might find either underwhelming or risky to play with effectively.
lighting sounds the coolest
It's pretty cool, yeah.
The gems are only found in the fortresses. Metal can be found near lava or also in fortresses.
ok
sounds spooky
just killed a bonemaw
just started adventuring into mistlands
i hate that place
i need to build a mushroom farm, do mushrooms need an open open ceiling to grow?
idk
oof
im not that experienced
me neither
Just raided my first fortress with a magic build.
Only gems that dropped were lighting gems.
...the fact that Dundr does electric damage and yet it's recipe uses bloodstones is some class-A BS
I literally got nothing I could use from this fortress unless I pivoted all the way back to melee
Yes they do ๐
The 3rd gem is pretty important for magic builds. For melee its definitely higher risk.
yes i've seen bears
Might just be bad luck. Call to arms is thr live version yeah
day 145 we made it
I found quite a lot of them in my first black forest, but the second one didn't have many
Rng seems oddly buggy at times.
I had to kill 43 asksvins on my current world before I got my first asksvin trophy
reddit is full of people crying about bear trophy rng
makes you wonder if a pity system would be good
until someone found out you can get one from ||vendor camp||
Is the fact that exists really a spoiler? Doesn't hugin kinda tell you they exist the first time you enter black forest?
It was the guy right above you i belive
oh ๐ i just saw post on reddit and then few days later i got youtube short about it
News spread fast ๐
ye i found it out, shared it with some buddies and this discord and just became common knowledge now
irongate plz don't fix
Stuff like that is cool, see no reason for it to be "fixed" xP
Little Easter eggs
You still need to kill bears to make the armor at the end of the day
Well, it should either be fixed and not be destroyable or be always destroyable ๐ right now it is not when you first go to it and after reloading it is
I'd prefer the Ashlands music bug gets fixed first xD
some devs just don't like bugs to exist in their games even if they are popular among players
Unless someone comes in and tells me the overlapping music tracks in ashlands is intentional... in which case I might cry lol
why cant blast furnaces be used for iron?
Too nice for smelting such basic ore ๐
Make-belive scientific reason - temperature in the blast furnace way too high, you'd get iron with all the wrong characteristics!
Hey do u recommend any mods to try when i play first time ( i played before for like 10 h could not get intro it ) i see a lot of ppl like to use Epic Loot
No mods
If you're playing for the first time, play the vanilla game until you know it. Once you feel you don't have anything more to learn (and maybe have something you're annoyed with), go ahead and ask in #mods-discussion ...
there's so much in the game already๐ญ
i;m like 35 hours in but only at the start of the iron age
i love it though
It's a game best experienced without feeling stressed to progress, take it slow and enjoy the ride. The journey IS the game, there's no end game MMO raiding scene...
frrr, the grind is the game
No but actually, if temp is too high you mess with grain size, grain size boundaries, makes it more brittle, and surface imperfections
Conversely, if the temp is too low and you try to work it you put cracks and imperfections into the structure of the metal.
So having the blast furnace needed for some things but not be viable for others is in the realm of believable.
New YouTube: Science with Scales ๐
Ye it's certainly realistic but i'm 50/50 on whether or not the game should just allow you to melt the lower tier ores with blast furnace just for qol
Given every other QoL concession they have made...
And snap points for building pieces.
yupppp
Biggest QoL:
Everyone thinks my hot tub is for actual use... pfft I have 3 pufferfish in there. Take a dip if you want ๐
Is there any point to building a nice pen for my ashkin? Or will they rip it down at the first sight of a raid?
If they can't see enemies and don't take damage they typically don't get angry
At least I've found this to be true. Had some drakes fly really close to my asksvin pen and they've never gone ballistic
I think ill dig a pit for them and use it as a basement to my archery range
Hey guys what should i know about this game before starting it?
Nothing. Playing it for yourself is best.
Play it normal, you can always look up other stuff later if you get stuck or wanna shake things up
ye valheim is a game where information is power and lookin up stuff removes a lot of the joy of the game
Can confidently say many of the regulars here wish they could play valheim again for the first time
Many of the regulars also have scale issues ๐
Definitely, Iโm trying to fight fader for the first time iโm scared to start the match because i have no idea what im getting into so Iโve been waiting for someone to help me fight him
Fuck ya
O dear gods below. I just read a comment on Reddit, someone who gave up on Yaggy and decided to just sail/row home to their base and build up courage and strength to try again. Well, apparantely Yagluth crawled along after them on the ocean floor and proceeded to level their base to the ground...
Looooooool
Bruh how close were they?

Heck knows, I just read their comment, I need to try and recreate this
I would like to imagine they were quite far and Yag rolled up multiple in-game days later ๐
That would be hilarious just be farming and then all of a sudden starts raining down fire meteors on your base
Sounds fake unless they travel exclusively in rafts XD
Or they have mods and one of them broke the code that tells bosses to stop following you.
Any peeps playing?
No, they're all on vacation.
Danm thatโs wild Bermuda or Bahama
Playing what? ๐
Most likely Playa Balconia.
But in case they aren't, check https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for online play.
Hi Everyone ๐๐ค
Haha I got a post there I was just trying to see what people were up to in their world
Hay๐
building a chapel
Thatโs sick Iโm doing a similar thing and one of my worlds. I started a new one about a year ago and Iโve been building this massive museum base that is gonna have everything from Ashlands and before then Iโm gonna work on a PVP Colosseum and a actual house for myself thatโs gonna have everything from the deep north when it drops
If I could post pictures in this thread, I would if you want me to DM you the pictures I can
You can sent 'em in #screenshots
Not bad
Building is one of my favorite parts of the game and where 90% of my hours are spent doing XD
It has two courtyards one is for smithing, and one is for crops. It has a chest for every item in the game. It has an item stand with every weapon and an armor stand with every armor. I have every shield and every trophy on display and every building station to its max level so far
Having a separate building/area for the forge and its upgrades is good practice for nice builds.
I didnโt use any commands either everything that was there I farmed for
The most annoying part was leveling out the ground to build everything because I had to carve out basically a mountain right next to spawn. The only downside is in the middle of the farm. Thereโs a mound thatโs bedrock that was too high to level out with the rest of the groundso I have to figure out what to do with it and Iโm not 100% any ideas
If I may offer:
Level it for specific areas/buildings, yes. Don't try to get the whole of your build on one level though.
Having buildings/areas be a meter or two off from each other also makes it look more organic.
Leveling definitely can be costly, leaving the terrain more natural however will make your base look that much better and will reduce the lag in your base. Especially as it gets bigger and fancier
I try to do it as little as possible
I understand I just need to figure out something to put there like maybe surrounded in Stone and raise it up, but I donโt know what kind of structure would look good there or maybe should I just turn it into a spot for the windmills?
They did an update a while ago that drastically reduces the effects of terrain manipulation on lag.
Definitely but my endgame base had to take every last bit into account to keep the instances down
yeah, actually terraforming will usually reduce the amount of instances, so in most cases it is beneficial for fps, if there is any effect at all
For most bases its not a big deal but someday it might be a limiting factor
I build villages and haven't had an issue with lag ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Not unless you build in Ashlands ๐
I don't even know how to check that because it's never come up ๐
I did check my old base once, out of curiosity. Can't remember tho
How do you check it again?
19k
I do have a decent amount of terrain mods going on though
Figured if you had everything perfectly level lol
Just under 8k then with my current mansion. I've been doing some pretty massive terraforming to build terraces for the house and growing barley. And a few roads down to the traders and the port
Instances are only counted in a certain area so the roads and even likely the terraces aren't being factored in
Do berserkir meads have a cooldown, or can you spam them?
Not sure how large valhiems chunks are
Not a clue
Any meat that you can drink that gives you a time defect you can drink as soon as the time affect is over as long as the time affect is active you canโt use another one
Yeah running around the terraces I got up to about 7800 at most
Mead
I'm trying to think of use cases for that mead. It would have been great against Yaggy, since he mostly spams fire damage and shit the weakness would hardly matter, just the benefits to spank away.
It kind of sucks sometimes because sometimes you just wanna top off your poison resistance or whatever and it wonโt let you until the last second
Honestly, thereโs so many different ways to stack items now itโs crazy and since they change the boss heads, you can stack the boss heads with potions and trinkets to make them more powerful
Yeah I'm abusing moder's power and troll endurance to not need the cart anymore...
Definitely between those two and the belt you get like 1000 carry weight I use that combo for solo mining in the Ashlands
Klossen + Primal axes + Berserkir mead = Reto is minced bone.

4 sap extractor set up, 15 cores obtained, finally used to monsters in mistland ๐
Screw those 2 stars seeker tho
They become a fun challenge after a while ๐
We had to beat one after a long run with 2 food buff was scary,I learned to just dodge them and not try to parry and get staggered lol
Time to hunt hares then I can craft my mage armor woohoo
The 2 star soldiers are fun too. Ran into a couple of those the last few days. During the day.
I love how we started by struggling hard in the mistland and now I feel like we almost Own it!
we even scouted during the night and stuff ๐
I chug it right at the start of a boss fight and then wail on a boss while they're entering the arena.
Some bosses entering animations last a pretty long time, so you get a lot of free damage
Bonemass powers resistances also overwrites the weakness so if you run bonemass you get 5 minutes of potion uptime without downside
Yeah. Kind of my point - the use of that potion when fighting something that can actually hit you back is...not strong.
Kind of a group thing, if in a group of folks with a dedicated tank working to keep the attention of the boss, someone with berzerkir meads could whack away without a care in the world ๐
Brings certain cooldowns in old-school wow to mind
For solo play you can pair it with bonemass buff, though that has the opportunity costs of not running one of the other powers - all of the powers except Elder power are pretty decent to run in combat now.
Yeah, potion and bonemass powa combo sounds strong, gotta test that on Queen later on
Before the forsaken power changes, when bonemass granted very resistant, it was ridiculous
He granted resistant, not very resistant status ๐
Never used anything else haha. Now I've been using Moder non-stop. But then I'm on a no-portals run so it very much makes sense.
Now he gives slightly resistant
Ah, well still op either way lol
Not gonna argue that xD it was basically, "Haha! You cant kill me now!" button ๐
Bonemass always felt like a no skill "I win" button for the next 5 minutes lol
Eikthyr was probably stronger but wouldn't save you if you were stupid
Ultimate panic button when aggroing too many baddies in Mistlands
And later ashlands ๐
Me <shoots arrow at seeker>
The mistlands experience, hears horn noise, runs in the opposite direction
3 starred seekers and their 2-star soldier buddy and a gjall: U WOT MATE?!!?
Those Gjalls scare me more than most enemies in the ashlands individually
I hate them
First time I heard that sound I leggedit out of the mists and didn't go back in weeks
Fuck those things still scare me
Thankfully I'm at the point where I can quite easily kill them in my current save (thank you ashlands foods, you make all the difference).
I am mostly scared of them when sailing near mistlands shores now. They can sink a boat before you get a goood shot angle at them..
That and max level staff of frost
Gjalls are one of my favorite enemy mobs cause they're so alien.
I used to take a crossbow with me just to make them easier to kill but I don't need to now
Seekers aggroing on boats is kinda pathetic - RHAAAAAR I FLY KILL YOU SOFT-SHELL WEAKLING <splassh> guluhlughluglugh gasp spit drown dieeee...
The biome it's in does a lot to help that.
It just kinda materialises through the mist and it's a bit of a jumpscare lol.
๐ถ
You used to shoot them with your crossbow...
Latenight when they floated by...
You used to shoot them with your crossbow...
You used to, you used to..
๐ถ
On progression I probably die to gjalls more than any other enemy in the game, I think
Asksvins get me quite often as well though
Definitely, slowly sailing through the mist, sometimes noticing you first and you just wait from what direction it starts to shoot.
And starred ones, damn those look terrifying.
Fulings, and earlier on starred draugr have been my all-star killers. By the time I made it to Mistlands I had learned caution, not so much when approaching those strange abandoned villages in distant meadows. What ist that, buzzing? I need moar bees! <runs in> OOOPS!
Asksvins are a real pain in the butt
They're just overgrown necks dishing out payback for our crimes against their race
"Just" overgrown necks.
At least with a Morgen or a Valkyrie I can fairly easily get them to thin out their allies. Asksvins are fast, relentless and that lunge attack does more damage than it has any right doing lol
That being said an asksvin by itself isn't really a problem. Then again, nothing in the Ashlands is.
Thing is nothing in Ashands ever comes by itself...
Exactly lol
Asksvins always make the engagements so much worse so they're my enemy number 1
Yesterday fought a 2 star morgen surrounded by a horde. It very quickly became judt me vs the morgen.
Still haven't come across a starred morgen, thank the hells
2 star Morgen has more HP than Bonemass btw. โ๏ธ
Bloody hell
Additionally they resist all physical damage types lol.
Well, in all honesty the seeker guard troop outside the queens lair was a tougher fight than the queen herself to me. One two-star seeker with two one-star buddies, and absolutely no space to move. Sheer cliff on one side, sea on the other. Gods, can't believe I lived through that. Only thanks to old Bonemass...
Made a good target dummy for my staff of frost lol.
Took FOREVER to kill but was easy
ashlands is genuinely hell
What's your food?
like the honey chicken and some cool stuff my friend made
That may be problem A, given food is the most important stat in the game.
i usually just eat whatever i ahve on me tbh
That is confirmed problem A now.
like boar meat usually
So Ashlands is not hell at all. You're just not equipped for it.
i seeee
Salad is good and can be made plentiful for cheap.
where do i make that
Cauldron.
Have you played the game??
ahhh ok
duh
As long as you have all available upgrades for making it.
ill probably set that up whenever my friend opens the server
So far after black forest you should have been able to build 4 upgrades for cauldron before Ashlands (one per biome).
For those of you who have ran larger servers, how do you handle your Raid settings? I have a modded server that has grown to 20+ active players and our theme is based around making the game much slower and more challenging, but raids are purely vanilla and I left their frequency on default. Over time more people have been interested and joined - so raids become less and less frequent.
If 5 people are online and not playing together, it is going to take ~20 hours of gametime before you experience a raid, if using default settings. But if I crank up the raid frequency, when 1 or 2 players are online, they are going to get absolutely hammered. Thoughts?
I would suggest it's both hell AND they're poorly equipped for it lol
Honey glazed chicken is good, same as Misthare supreme and Meat platter for the HP options, usually 2 HP 1 stamina food setup (HHS) is good.
I would suggest it used to be hell and fun, but then got nerfed into the dirt.
i eat honey glazed chicken
Yeah, as you mentioned.
I am aware it was nerfed.
It wasn't fun to play for me before
i have like hell soldiers digging out of the dirt
And that's not due to skill issue, i cleared it at the time
I just didn't enjoy any second of it
ill remember to get cauldron
Just a question, did you ever find turnips in swamps?
-# That one can be evasive and easily missed.
my friend is growing them
Right, then you should be able to craft all the upgrades if you haven't already.
ok
That bad huh? Guess I got a relaxing session to look forward to
Replaying it a long time after I did in the beta client now but it is what it is, this newest update barely added enough to change the gameplay
If you are kitted well when arriving in the Ashlands it is a relaxing walk through moist cake.
vinny's ready for yagluth, except one more action figure is necessary for the summon
Depending at where you land.
I've been in a situation where landing was horrible.
I've also been in a situation where landing was that easy, I thought I had accidentally set the game at "non-agressive monsters."
you need an MG42 fully loaded to make a good landing else chance high to get swarmed
you can make those with iron, black metal, and a bit of tread
I'd say it's a shame, but such an experience as beta build ashlands (or potentially worse) is better kept for valheim's end
It's all about staking out the coast well before landing. Knock out spawners from afar with your bow, don't land until you know you'll have space to establish a bridgehead.
the first time I landed in the ashland, I do not recall any spawner there, but I remember that I got to meet everything the area had to offer at the same time
except the crossbow things
Just got 3 jade from my 3rd fortress, nice!
Fully (at least for now) upgraded staff of the wild inc
Now if I can just secure more of those bloodstones my build is complete.
I really hate that Iolite is useless for my build
Any one down to play
Some people in #1024264966712340510 for sure ๐
was there some kind of update this week? my friend and i can no longer connect to our server, and the password now needs to be longer, we have the same mod setup, but his server appears offline to me
deathskito taming when?
use the potion, with them zooming around you go towards some other biome mob
Hi I have a question
@normal oak there hasn't been an update, but if you're playing with mods, folks in #mods-issues might be able to help.
what's the question?
What is the best way to kill fader with 3 people
Reduce his HP to 0 before he does the same to yours.
to actually answer your question, fader has an AOE attack called Fissure that spawns under every player/ally. You'll want to coordinate your group to all run in the same direction or in different parts of the arena to prevent cutting each other off with Fissure fires.
The ones that you, personally, feel like using.
not pierce or fire, he takes full damage from slash, blunt, frost, lightning
ye
Frost / Vines
Ok
It might be tough getting vines to work in multiplayer tho idk
Ok
keep in mind Vines will get Fissured so they aren't nearly as good as normal. with 3p expect to only occasionally trip the max vine spawn limit
dundr is quite nice since you stay pretty mobile while using it and Fader has a big hitbox
dundr mentioned
No good servers on xbox it seems
yes
Ok
I've beat the boss with literally zero buffs on the hardest difficulty you can do it with 3 people I believe in yall
what's wrong with Dundr ๐
i'm just a d1 hater since there's other more op options mage has
it's fine
lmaoooo understandable
I wish they made it stowable loaded along with xbow
What is the best weapon in the game
Overall? Prolly staff of embers
tbh 95% of fader difficulty in multiplayer is lagging into someone else's fissure and dying to invis flames
Yes, but that is you xD
But yeah, 3 people should be fine ๐
Ok
if you've got decent ping like an IRL friend group you should be fine
I think Embers was the most dominant weapon ever, during the period where Mistlands was last biome, but Staff of the Wild and Storm Fang gap it at high skill levels now.
