I've learned in ML not to talk to Hugin when he shows me a skull or a mine. That 'Poof' is a much better indicator of them than ticks or seekers.
and found one instantly! spotting spikes worked 😛
there is also abandoned tower full of seekers next to it, might even be 2 infested mines inside 10m area 🙂
Are there any maps that have very little ocean?
Did you equip the bone?
Yes
Is there Obsidian on the mountain in question?
Do you wish the bone would work better?
Then your mountain probably has no silver.
It spawns higher than obsidian does.
Holy shit so 2 of my mountains have 0 silver
Happens.
This is the first for me
Are those the only 2 you have discovered so far on this map?
Nah like 3 but I figured I would find silver on the first
Once you know about the Obisidian rule you save a lot of time by not wasting effort on short mountains.
200 hours later I find out 🙁
I didn’t know this either
I have recently made it to the mountains for the first time
Welcome to the mountains. The golems will guide you
Bro farming golems for the shard to make glass
Caves are a better source tbh.
I am having fun parrying the golems
Yeah
lol 3000+ hours into the game and we've had the funniest moment...
New server. We build a small town next to the Black Forest for mining conveience. We're rocking flint spears and the like.
Our first journey into the forest, we stumble on a 2 star bear ("Boy that tree-stump sure is funny looking... shit... run run run run!") which chased us out of the woods after mauling 3 vikings to death. Said 3 vikings made several attempts at retrieving their bodies and each time they fell victim to this demon bear. 2 of the original 3 headstones are still there along with a veritable cemetary of bodies with flint weapons.
It gets worse. The damned thing started roaming into our village! It was like a horror movie, you just heard your buddy getting mauled by the bear and there was nothing you could do. We were laughing so hard as this blasted bear wreaked absolute havoc on our tiny viking society. We eventually relocated.
I have yet to run into a 2 star, only 1 stars. Of course, now it would be easy for me to fight it with my current gear. Maybe my next play through... Still, thats a great story. Definitely something to remember.
I think they only spawn at night
Thats his village now
I was wondering, is there any way to see how many hours you have played valheim on Xbox?
dont own xbox but if you haven't deleted saves you can see what day it is for every save and count how many hours you have played yourself
each full day night cycle 30min
Very fun with a silver shield and a iron mace, loving it.
On your player card, you can see how many hours you played. It’s under your Xbox name. I think under achievements.
YES. Draugr elite trophy!
Any particular benefit to using heavy bait? Like do the tuna or coral cod that are caught using it give any additional raw fish when converted on the preparation table?
Each bait has a fish type that it catches.
Yes but is there any benefit to using the heavy bait and catching those fish?
Afaik you cannot catch them without it?
no no
I'm saying what point is there in catching those fish if other fish convert into the same amount of food
Trophies? Achievement? Hat?
Converting fish into raw fish is the primary point of them yeah?
I just wanna know if these super rare fish are only useful for catching a few times then never again
Pufferfish can be used in mob farms ❤️
Mob farms is not a term I'd thought I'd hear in Valheim
trollfish makes an amazing mead, anglerfish an amazing food
They do, Refer to the wiki for the breakdown, but generally speaking the tougher the biome the higher the base pieces of fish you get. So base of 1, 2, 3, 4, and maybe even higher. Again, check the wiki for specifics. If I could, I'd link it.
Looks like 3 is actually the highest baseline.
For: Type: Pufferfish, Angler Fish, Magma Fish, Northern Salmon
I hadn't even thought of that
Holy fuck fishing in this game is abysmal
No direction on how to do it whatsoever and apparently I need to be running as much stamina as I possibly can to even catch one fish
ligit
Having to physically pull them onto land like I'm using a harpoon while they drain my stamina more or less for no visually apparent reason whenever they'd like doesn't seem simple to me
The only mechanics are "click to hook, hold to reel" -- very simple compared to other games.
And the stamina drain drops quite well with levels.
They drain stamina more or less depending on the direction the fish Is swimming 🙂
Yeah, it gets better as you level it. Works fine for the first two biomes once you hit 20 or so. Considering you can level up pretty quickly just casting and reeling in, you get to 20 pretty quickly.
Use feasts for fishing. I do 2 feasts plus a stamina food. The best one I have at the time.
Good HP in case I have to fight, good stamina for catching fish.
Who has a bunch of surplus soft tissue that a friend could join in and take back to their server. Asking for a friend🫣🤣
Just spawn your own after you're finished cross-posting in multiple channels...
I was mainly just joking lol thought it would be funny. I’ve had an extremely difficult time finding any petrified skulls
Is spawning it actually a thing? I’m relatively new to the game on my first play though. Just joined this sever a few days ago
Yes.
I’m unfamiliar with the concept of “spawning it” can you do it without mods
devcommands if you enable them.
Can that be done in a dedicated server? Sorry for the noobish questions but like I said I’m pretty new
No, but you can go into a non-dedicated world, spawn stuff, pick it up, then take it to your dedicated one.
No worries.
do meads come into "conflict" with each others?
like does a healing mead prevents me from using a stamina mead?
nvm the wiki answered me
I hope they make it possible to remove the changelog in the home screen, its kinda annoying
Hi!
I just got the game and IDK what to do, need some people to play and learn with!
You can follow the instructions of the bird at the start.
If you're looking for people to play with, https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 is the right channel for that. 👍
Oh cool thanks!
Pick up everything that looks new. Sticks, rocks, mushrooms, berries. Kill anything that moves. Walk around and see what there is to see.
Make sure to always eat as much food as you can. Always build new stuff to see what it is/does.
Try not to die because it lowers your skill points a lot lol.
The general...
WASD to walk
Space to jump
M1 to MURDE- I mean attack
M2 for blocking
Middle mouse for special attack
E to interact
Good luck have fun in the world of valheim :))
It's bad to play on controller yeah
Also man finding a beach is tough
That's what I wanna build my house on
You should get the hands on it
Rahhh!
It is kinda slow with the controller ;-;
Especially the inventory
just check that your server doesn’t have any rules against cheating
It took me 4 mountains to find silver, and even there there wasn't that much
goooood mornin
One mountain I found looking for Moder quintupled the amount of silver deposits I knew of
Good evening
how we doing? starting to feel better after having the flu on thursday was a nice chill gaming of raft, tonight gotta go and recover back our bodies in the mistland 🙁
The mistlands do be spooky, currently I'm returning from another iron run
I really hate that zone gjall are scary, hell those seekers also hurts 🙁
.... 30 scrap iron just phased through the map :/
was it in the dungeon or on the ground?
The ground, I threw it down to be not overencumbered
ooh, darn.
It should eventually come back to surface 🙂
I sure hope so
Maybe after we recover our armor ill max upgrade padded armor to help abit
I don't recall but did you have fire barley with you when encountering gjalls?
yeah, currently using black metal sword/shield level 3 with a level 3 silver sword and padded armor 2.
We got past and killed the gjall near the shore but then we carelessly scouted alot of the island to try and find a mine and died pretty far from our portal from a 2star seeker.
The stamina in this games makes me wanna punch my monitor ngl.
These dudes are vikings but have stamina like a 90 year old granny with asthma.
get better food
Frostner will make the mistlands way easier. The slow effect makes the 1 and 2 star seekers and soldiers much easier to deal with. Just circle strafe as you hit them, and they can't really touch you.
I already have the best food available to me.
what is your stamina bar?
226
damn you're having problems with that? skill issue
Hardest part to learn is to not sprint everywhere. Run normally and have a full stamina bar when you enter a fight. Makes a huge difference. I see so many people sprint into combat and have 30% stamina or less when they get there, swing 3 times and be out of stamina, then they can't block or roll and get mashed.
doesnt help I instantly go into running mode when I fight them since im not used to them yet and then I try to block/parry and miss the timing and they chunk me for like 50s or something. Been thinking about a frostner or porcupine or something.
you can also walk in most combat situations
Also don't run from the seekers they are hard to outrun because they fly. Better to circle normally and fight, don't sprint but in real short bursts when needed to avoid a hit. I will admit if you get into a fight with 3 or more seekers and you do not have an atgeir or something for AOE it is pretty hairy at times.
Running/Jumping just uses up way too much stamina. I can't even get through the Mistlands without stopping ever 30 m.
Make both potions that help. The ratatosk for 15% movement speed (offsets your armor slow down if you are wearing padded) and the jumping one, can't remember the name. Both of those help with the mistlands a lot. The running one lasts for like 10 mins too, it is nice.
Ill be way overprepared for next time the only issue is getting back to our gear naked haha
didnt know about lightfoot mead to traverse the area much smoother
when we got caught by those seekers and that 2 star we both werent rested anymore, food buff about to run out was dumb 😛
thats what you call a deserved death
yeaaaah we havnet played in like a week now because we arent down for that big recovery mission xd
yeah, that’s tough, I get how that could be discouraging. If it makes or breaks whether you play the game, maybe very easy death mode where you keep the gear equipped would be your style? then you just need to get new food and fight back to whatever you had in your inventory.
https://imgur.com/a/T6VICbZ gotta run from our portal near all my deaths to the left all the way to that 218d death up north
it’s by the coast, maybe take the portal with karve materials and sail around, then you can scout the island from the water and it won’t feel like a waste of time, sometimes there’s structures along the water you can see and hit later
I feel kinda dumb but YES that sounds waaaay smarter
we could just equip our old silver and make that short run to get our gear back and back to boat
if it were me, if you had backup gear, I’d make it a rabbit hunting trip and just hunt along the way to my body. But I feel like there’s a high chance you just die in your back up gear lol so yeah going by sea would probably be smartest. Bring portal materials if you don’t want to sail back
Maybe bring stone and wood for a campfire so you don’t have to do it unrested when you get there, and also don’t have to bang rock and alert everything nearby
and then no more being careless and starting to feel 'confortable' in there always just to end up getting caught by surprise haha
I also never thought of always bringing wood and stones to re-apply rested, wouldve been nice in the swamps.
It’s pretty necessary, you also gain skills faster when you’re rested
I play no portal so I’ve done a lot of thinking ahead and planning lol
props for no portals, been watching alot of hardcore no map/portal runs and high raid frequency this stuff is crazy.
I do “more” raids, I tried it maxed out, but it was just like “again?…” It became less fun and repetitive
But “more “is just enough that it feels dangerous and impending
we got 4 hives in our first 5 days, ive started putting it in the obliterator haha
Yeah, as many things it depends on rng how many you get, tho you can help it a bit if you know where and for what to look 🙂
Bees are plentifull, you just dont explore enough probably 🙂 .. or super unlucky
Just to be sure... You are taking the queen and making your own hives?
I think im super unlucky
Just sail to some new meadows and run around for a day or two, you should find few
Ive taken a couple queen bee’s from my previou’s playthrough 😮💨
fenris set + ratatosk and run thru meadows looking for huts
or any building, i've found many beehives from daugr villages
draugr.... village? huh 😮
i don't know if they are called that officially, that's what i call them 😄
Everybody calls them that, even if not official name 😄
but you can run into them in meadows
my base is right next to 2 daugr villages and skeleton arena 👀
oh wow didnt know that was a thing
Ive been doing thatt
now im not always alone!
draugr in the meadows must be quite a surprise if someones not expecting that and is new xd?
i think they have some rule to spawn some distance away from starting location
Yep, 2000m from centre at least 😄 so you dont really run into them too early when you are new player usually
ah fair, wonder if I missed other stuff like that.
Yes, they are also quite rare, iirc 15 ish in each world.
i got 4 right next to each other
well.. "right next".. but in same meadows
actually 5, lol
yeah, loaded up random seed in valheim map viewer and most of them are on one side of map.. in several groups.. they are not spread evenly
i've pretty much only explored south-west from spawn and i've marked 10 villages on my map
so seems like it
I have explored about 35-40%of my world (day 780) and I only got 5 bees. So I know how it feels
You can swim almost as fast as a Karve with the Fins of Destiny + Vanadir + Ratatosk combo. And using zero stamina.
You'd just have to get some blocks along the way to sustain the Fins of Destiny power.
If two people are swimming they can punch each other
But that would cost stamina
If you want to know how bad (or not) you are at exploring, that valheim map viewer (google it, first and pretty much only site) can show you beehives, but dont if you have stuff to spoil to yourself by accident .. You can set it to see only fog and only beehives
oh man there is 2 soldier seekers right at the door in infested mines, i can't get in 😄
once i go in, they hit me and push me back out !
and im dead
Interesting
Get few bombs and every time you get it throw one, then wait few seconds before going back in and throwing another to let the poison do its thing 🙂
hhhhhhhhhuhhhh sailing to the ashlands wish me luck 💔
Cant wait to die 0.1 seconds after landing my ship
I believe in you.
Normandy ahh landing ☠️
thats how our first swamp landing looked like xd tons of draugr showing up to greet us after setting workbench and portal, was my first time seeing abomination, they wrecked our portal and boat haha
@merry pebble I am giving the battleaxe a fair trial this run because it has been a while.
I’m barely starting the game and it’s already starting to sound like Vietnam
the first run is always super fun 😄
it's been quite viable on hard, considering ramping up to very hard when is top running around in blueberry paint
Battleaxe was always my favorite ... woodcutting tool
my reaction everytime I was met with a new monster, was priceless.
Also is there a point to building a small base in a black forest biome?
now ive got nightmare with horn sounds, I wonder why!
I guess to be closest to chambers or copper vein
we only have our base in the meadows with mini-outpost with portals at different biomes.
good for bear and troll spawns, proximity to copper, core wood, lots of good reasons
what difficulty are you trying it on?
Chambers seem to be a one and done type ordeal
yeah meant more to be closer to a couple of them or something to save the trip back to base to dump ur loot etc.
Im pretty bad at building so I keep it at a minimum while my buddy mostly do the building.
i think its basically fi you build in bf it's good to have meadows nearby and vice versa, otherwise its personal style preferenc and how much you like trolls and bears around. i loved this one base where i alway sheard a bear kiling skeletons when it respawned
so i could run out and try ot get its head
I love those treehouse base I see in videos
I already built a factory in the meadows ☠️
This is my vegetarian VH run 😂
ohh right. wellp gl lol
What is the minimum gear to progress from Black Forest to swamp? Me and my boys got absolutely annihilated within 20 seconds
Food is the most important stat in the game.
Gear is secondary to food.
Oh yeah I’m not too familiar with what’s the best food
Pretty much using mushrooms deer meat and blueberries
Food sheet is pinned in this channel. You want the Configuration tab.
serpent meat/stew is super good hp food early when you wanna start a biome
Legend!!!
Wrote it with a quick-reference tab for this exact reason 😁
And Scarlet pinned it because she's an awesome person 💛
poison resist mead, health food to have 100+ hp, should be fine if you press block sometimes
Haven’t even made it to poison resistant stuff🥹
It's working out so far.
Like my issue is still the first windup. But if you can get it off, you can stunlock entire groups.
you should have that mead unlocked tho, it all requires basic stuff to unlock
Can you screenshot the food sheet thing and send to me? I’m on mobile I don’t see the pin for some reason
Poison Resist mead is a BF-tier food item.
I am also on mobile 🙃
definitely, and/or knock them out of range to hit you back. don't be afraid to learn the jump swing move i promise its super useful i knwo you have jump attacking but sometimse its dee only way
And the sheet is way too big to screenshot give everything it contains 😂
Oh okay
poison resist is just honey, neck tail, coal, and thistle, you can make it
I am not an Italian plumber. I do not jump on my enemies. 😉
Noted! Tyty
when those wolves come and surround you though...jump away and swing means they dont bite u 3 times first
No. 😛
Do bonemaw’s and other serpants have set spawn points?
I think it is more of a spawn area.
Okay
and spawn conditions, night and/or storms
Mhm
I believe it's one per chunk, then factor in the percentage and other conditions.
i.e. time since last, time of day, storms, etc.
man i have NEVER been THIS uninspired to build a perma base somewhere before... technically there's a spot in meadows right next to plains swamp and bf, close to clothing and trader, but its just like.... meh i cant describe it.
it's not far enough to be particularly close to mistlands or ashlands, and if i explore its just swamps and ashlands everywhere.
I'm thinking of trying something a bit different my next play through. A series of small bases rather than just a main one. I've kind of done this before, but I still have had a main base. Next time I will still have a main base in that its where I go to have my character sleep. Other than that, I will try to have 3 or 4 that I can go to for smelting and crafting, and just be more spread out across the map. This is to help with getting resources some where without having to do a ton of sailing to bring them all the way back to a main base in the center of the map. Obviously this will also mean I don't get to take ores and metal bars through portals, so a fully vanilla default game setting.
It should also help with taming, in that I will be more likely to be able to take starred animals to one of the further out bases, than I am to get them all back to a base near the center.
i kind of do little bases in each biome, or at least the ability to repair and smelt so i can do basic gear upgrades while i gather more. but a good base base is important to me where i have the bulk of my materials and cooking, crafting, brewing, etc
otherwise you're so spread out like well i gotta go to this base for carrots then back to the other base for copper then to teh swamp base for chains it's silly
You more or less do that anyways. If you have to take everything back to a main base. Just portals make doing that with most things easy. I will probably make my sleeping base also be my food prep base. Thats a lot of mats to be spreading out across several bases, when you only need it all at one. So I agree on that about foods. Just hauling ores and metals, and only those, to a main base at or near the center, gets to be a bit much. Ashlands is actually what is making me think to do this. Since I pretty much have to make a base there to process the metal, and tame the Askvins. So I may as well spread things out a bit for at least the plains and Mistlands too.
Thanks to portals I can jump between them in just a few seconds.
i think my main strat is really just dont build or gather so much that i cant take it with me or leave it behind, like there's no meadows base, i make a BF base by copper nodes, then i MAYBE make a perma base dependign on seeds or just a swamp iron farming/smelting base, and/or another base that's next to traders and plains and preferably a quick sail to mistlands
like currently i have a small BF base and i went straight to a spot by traders and plains, but it's just a gross spot im nowhere near good swamps or mistlands and not not that far south im entirely like this seed is sub-par and i dont want to play it lol... maybe im spoiled by good seeds or bored of the game idk
So it sounds like you do a series of small bases as needed by default. I've been making it necessary to take everything back to a single main base. So I am talking about no longer doing that, and spreading things out more.
So my "main" base will be where I worry about sleeping and making my foods, and whatever I need up until I go into swamps. Then from there, I'll just make a small base wherever its most convenient for me to sail to, to do the needed processing and crafting for those metals.
@silk token first observation on battleaxe -- very good INDOORS because no MtP when hitting walls/scrap piles.
Is breeding boars worth it?
Worth is subjecthive to the individual.
Only you can make that decision.
Depends on how often you run around and just kill boars.
I don't bother in single player, or when playing with my wife. We kill plenty just running around.
I bother in SP when I get to main base time. But prior to that I do not.
ive never found the need to breed them if i just kil them when i see them as i go i have stacks of unused hide
but if feeding them and breeding them is super fun it's not a waste of time
I've only ever had a need to do it on servers with more than just my wife and I. Mostly, because most people, don't have the time to just be running around hunting. Its more time saving to set up breeding.
what is main base time for you
Mistlands. Black Marble my beloved.
Black marble does seem to be markedly tougher than just stone. I have the same problem with it as I do stone, too much of the same look. All black is just as ugly to me as all white. Monotonous.
I am a simple man.
Fortunately there are ways to break that up, but it just adds to how much mats you need to make a place look good.
Thats probably a big part of why I usually do only one main base. Even with all my free time to play games, I don't want to be spending it making base after base after base look appealing to me.
thats one fun thing about smaller bases, i find myself experimenting with different styles or making use of existing ruins and things to influence my building so i make new things and things thath arent too huge or time consuming
the problem with the current seed is that the "best" place to build has uninspiring weird terrain that's too low and too high and surrounded by gurgling deformed toads
I want to see these gurgling deformed toads. They sound interesting. 😄 😄
ive killed most of them but they keep coming back
hm maybe im thinking about this wrong, maybe the answer is a plains base next to meadows not a meadows base next to plains... but im on hard and wearing blueberries...
Yeah, spawn proofing areas can get tedious, and give the game enough time, they destroy it all if it isn't behind walls.
its also hard to leave my first base, i accidentally made it so dang cute and the spot is great
Blueberries don't help make it easy. When I do go into the plains, I do it in bronze, and after I have it all at max lvl, which is usually lvl 3. Thats just for default settings. Not sure how I would handle it on a harder setting.
i have the worst luck with infested mines, another one with 0 cores
that was me last seed
Yeah, I have had 4 or 5 mines like that this play through.
We still have plenty of cores now, but it took a bit longer than usual.
Which is fine, I just look at it as building up more mats for going into the Ashlands.
Considering how thats so much fighting, etc... you burn through arrows, meads and foods more than any previous biome has.
People who think Mistlands is hard, you ain't seen nothing yet.
😱
In Ashlands, even the land hates you.
it cant be worse than traversing mistland tho and that visiblity... 🙁
mistland is more about being annoying than hard i think 😄
Im struggling in the mistland hmmkay 😭
well me and the mistland had a bad start and well now im naked
Visibility is still limited in Ashlands, just not nearly as much as Mistlands. But the sky is anything but clear.
can't see and terrain is annoying you gotta be jumping all the time
You only think the terrain in Mistlands is annoying, In Ashlands parts of it kills you, quickly.
i do well in mistlands for like hours and then i die 1 time and instantly die 4 more times for some reason
in my map there is death markers, they are like 50-100 days apart but then there is like 3-4 markers at the same spot 😄
day 250, day 250, day 251
was instantly welcomed by gjall in our little outpost when we first reached mistland it only went downhill from there xd
I had lava bombs hit me twice, and the explosion tossed me into the lava, where I died in just seconds. No chance or time to get back out.
tired of waiting for my buddy to get our corpse back so I kinda went and looked at content/stuff I havent seen, Queen fight looks kinda spicy, same for fader x)
I just realized if I end up liking battleaxes it will be moot this run because I sort of have to switch to mage 🙁
The Queen is definitely a new kind of fight. Now I can fight her and not die, but it took some time to learn.
now I just want to properly do it! skimmed thru ashlands and queens on a game with cheats just to see it all
Seeing leads to understanding what you need to know and do, so you should get "there" faster now.
We still have a lot to figure out about Ashlands to really "master" it.
But thats the fun part for us.
that looks like a very rough area hazard wise
really thought I was seeing sea serpent over there hahaha
i keep forgetting magic exists 😄 i gotta try it today
Yeah, they put a lot of effort into making Ashlands an ordeal. All the other biomes seem like cake walks in comparison.
Do you all bury workbenches for spawn proofing and to prevent despawning?
I use camp fires. The grass alone hides them once the fire goes out.
cheaper and easier to just put down a campfire.
How's the sustain for magic btw? Do you still bring melee weapons?
Camp fires don’t have as great of a radius though right?
Your a paper tiger as far as melee goes as a mage.
I usually bring a hybrid setup.
ITs the same as a non upgraded bench.
Ig u could swap to a bow instead
Interesting
We just need the cores to start unlocking mage so I've been curious
unless you have decent blood magic skill. The bubble is a beast near the top.
Cores, flesh, sap, yeah, takes a bit, but you have to do it for the gear too, so...
got all that minus the goddamn cores thats why we pushed carelessly into the mistland to find a mine
we probably missed some of them tho tbh
It takes an awful lot to level that up, The way that XP works seems a bit crazy to me.
The mines are not common. My wife and I meticulously search the Mistlands. They are just few and far between compared to other things. Skulls are about the same, but other than those...
Usually if theres a blue lantern and no Dvergr nearby, means MAYBE theres a mine around right?
True. I afk with some skeletts at my draugr spawner.
No. They are more often those lone Dvergr with their little light tower.
they seem easy to miss sometimes, I mean I dont really know what im looking for as well.
even with a boss marker on my cheated game I had issues finding the Queen 'citadel/mine' entrance xd
For maybe an easier comparison, we probably find 4 to 6 occupied Dvergr towers and mining/excavating sites, to each mine we find.
can't find the cores so i just destroyed my black forge and took cores from it for eitr refinery 🧠
after i've processed all my sap and soft tissue i destroy it and build black forge back 😄
One thing to look for, if you can even see them through the mists, is 3 of those sharp, tall, rock formations. But you can so rarely even see them, its not really much help.
Yeah, I do that until we have 15, for all 3 things.
So once you have 5, your in business, so to speak.
oh dang you need 15 of those things, surely we died close to a mine! surely that 2 star seeker was guarding some mine entrance
Starred seekers do tend to be near them, but the real clue is if you run into more than 2 at a time.
was only a 2 star with a no star seeker
If your attacked by 3 or more, something is near by. Likely a mine.
well with those heads up, tomorrow when we go recover our gear by sailing to a closer shore to our body, surely all goes well 😄
It should go better. You've learned good lessons to help you do better.
can never truly rest and be in peace in the mistland, I totally learned my lessons
You can, you just need to be in a fully repaired tower with some additional fortifications added, to be any where close to being safe.
uh, in middle of my screen, there was a number? what's that about
No idea, I am only used to seeing a number like that when I am using the target for target practice.
Unless you mean the 30 second warning for the next auto save.
Since that freezes your game for a second or two. Even on my PC.
could it be? it was in middle of my screen, kinda big number
weird, never seen it before. and im at base so nothing combat related
ITs the only number I recall seeing. Its typically 30 seconds before sunset and sunrise, in the game.
Yeah, nothing comes to mind for something like that.
Doesn't mean much, I may just be so used to seeing it, it doesn't register with me.
ill try to get a screenshot if it happens again
That number looks like what pops up for hitting the Target. Your playing alone, aren't you?
@shy marlin Bonemass down.
yes i play solo. i think i figured it out, it's the eitr refinery right, hitting me?
there is stuff shooting out from it
Bronze pendant is nuts.
Free Lingering stamina effect activation after gaining only 50 adrenaline, yes please. 🤌
If I wasn't on VH where everything one-shots me, I would try the iron one that is a free health pot.
Bronze is probably BiS for bossfights though.
which one is bronze? been using that armor/heal one forever but those things never tend to proc that much since it requires high adren
I keep racking my sack on these dam misketoes
Go up 2 lines 🙂
time to check whats lingering stamina xd
25% regen
I probably should look into other meads than regular healing/stamina 😛
And once you proc it you have 60s to proc it again to keep it going. It is very generous.
I am hoping you meant to say healing/Tasty.
Many seem to overlook tasty.
The tasty one is crap?
^ here's a person who doesn't understand how math works.
Just regular stamina... 😞
😭 Is ok, now you know, and can experience the glory 💛
Always felt kinda meh like nice i get a decent amount of stam but then it's gone
No cooldown + more stamina than regular pot + stacks with Lingering instead of being blocked by it.
I think it's you that also made me realise tasty is gooood
I should make that set with movespeed and zooooom around for berries/shroom
movespeed set... don't remind me how much "fun" entering the mountains is about to be given I cannot make Frost Mead.. 🙁
so you play without any meads? I have not been around a lot lately so I know not what your are up to these days 😄
What's your progress at in the vegan run?
No. Vegetarian run. Frost resist isn't allowed because BloodBag is an ingredient.
On VH this time, just killed Bonemass.
Oh.. that is going to be hard... make sure you take enough wood to keep your fires stoked 😄
When I did it on normal I didn't use fires. I just scout mountains from the base until I find a low cave and then I sprint through the damage. Goal is getting enough fenris hair for the chest piece and then I'm golden.
Swamp has the potential to be worse because no poison resist due to Neck Tail
sprint there if the drakes swoop in might just mean you won't make it there on VH
I usually do not need the poison resist so hard ... I make one batch usually and then end up not using any of it most of the time but that is on normal settings 😄
Yeah, you have to shield that thing. Leave it going long enough and all your builds around it will start breaking from the damage. Iron or black marble are the best materials to close it in with.
Oh that's why my friend built a weird stone building for it
Yeah, while its processing eityr, AND for however long you leave the eityr globes laying there, it shoots out sparks that damages everything. You even have to repair your iron.
Black Marble might be immune to it, but its been a long time since I have used it.
Havent died yet!, ive only gone about 20 meter’s inland tho ^^' i fear what await’s me there
Mage or Viking?
random question but if a 2 star boar is killed by a skeleton lol on spawning location does another spawn at some point or am i SOL for finding another one. I am near the boar rune. I see conflicting info on forums
I havent touched magic this run
Demolisher is your friend.
SOL unless RNG smiles upon you.
so it is one per rune?
If its within a certain range of spawn, yes.
Rune is just a "has a random chance to ignore the star radius rule"
Much iron.. I havent made it yet
Makes you untouchable in Ashlands.
noted
Tear down bridges in the Mistlands, You get lots of iron BARS from them.
How does the atgeir fair in the ashlands?
Lousy, from what I have read here.
Hehe already know this, ive gotten so much iron from the mistlands
Sorry, was mountain-running. Am in cave now.
Atgeir does less damage because Charred resist pierce, but the MMB is effective at creating space.
Then why are you short on it? I have nearly an iron chest full of it, after making all the Mistlands gear.
I never said i dont have iron i just refuse to use it alot
Ah, OK. I use it a lot, because I have a lot. 😄 😄
Fair enough
Can i stunlock with it still?
If you have the Himmminiimiminim Afl, yes.
I wish there were more uses for black metal. I'm filling up a second black metal chest because I am getting a lot, and thats not my goal.
Gotcha, looks like i didnt make it for nothing then ^^' ive just gotta upgrade it
Ive been using the black metal one for the most part
Make chests with it! 🗣
Ive decided not to use iron chests and to make black metal instead exactly for that reason, iron is used in so much more then black metal is
Yeah, but I only need about 20. Thats only 120 bm bars. Only 4 stacks.
Make some lvl 4 atgeirs for decor xd
I have a mix of iron and bm chests, but I am slowly converting them all to BM.
Its just too much to do all at one time.
Heh, those aren't easy to come by. Only have 3 and 1, respectively, myself.
i just need to pick it into inventory and give back, but can't join any publci servers cause all have passwords
You could always use dev commands to just spawn them in, then throw them away until you get them in game.
And we have returned to my issue with battleaxes the moment I hit Mountain.
Ulvs and Gierhaffa so far both recover from stagger before you can get the first hit off.
Pokey poke it is then 😄
What staggered them before you did your first hit?
Parry.
Ah. Yeah, well I never use parry, so not familiar with timings, etc... As for Battle axes, they are like sledges for me, very situational.
Even though I am using Demolisher more and more often. That knock back is very helpful, even if its not a lot of damage.
This is why I have held to the "reduce by 0.1s" because it does not need to be much faster. Just a smidge faster so you can actually follow-up your own staggers.
Only stagger I do is through damage.
Or is that called stun? Either way, once that is accomplished, they die even faster.
Stagger is stagger no matter how it is applied.
OK, just some people refer to it as stun lock.
yep, stun lock. Perma lock is the worst
Its great when I do it to the enemies, never had it done to me.
some other games with some buffs one could perma lock others and easy frag
I forgot to say.
Vinny has killed bonemass. Vinny hasnt died yet. Vinny wanted to make a wolf cape but its too hard so a lox cape will have to do.
Because of the trophy?
all you need is one Being hunted.. raid and you are set :p
Yeah, usually get 4 or more trophies with a raid, Hard not to when you can kill nearly 40.
ye
I could wait for a raid, or I could just make a lox cape
Hard part is to actually get the raid. With how many hours I spend in the plains and mountains, I've only gotten 4, maybe 5.
On top of actually taming 2 star wolves for the first time in... years. Since the raid was introduced, no shortage of any of those mats.
any thoughts on why my friend is getting failed to connect on server?
you on xbox?
I sometimes have that issue when I crossplay, I just resend them a current invite code
is there any way to hide the UI? Just trying to take a clean pic of my base
no, pc i turned off crossplay, will see if that works
Ctrl + F3.
thank you! I was looking in every menu for mapped buttons but couldn't find anything
Glad that helped.
Onions acquired!
this worked. 🙂
Ey ey is it time for this months word from the devs xD
Well, it usually is near the end of the month 🤔 only few times it was in the middle
Probably before Halloween 👻
If we get one 😄
Usually some day between the 19th and the 24th.
Last Word from Devs was published 18th of September. But the date when the next one is there may vary.
When they aren't on their annual vacation.
We shall see if Hervor makes a comeback after few months of silence. 👀
Excited for some wintery Valheim n chill 😊
If its at least as challenging as Ashlands...there will be no chill haha
ahh finally i can wield magic!
IIRC devs have said DN won't have as much battling as in Ashlands and instead has more of those chill moments.
any turkish player?
Probably many, you can search for fellow countrymen in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
i will check it thanks
i actually don't think i've parried an ulf with a battleaxe so i can't say yuh-huh, i actually rarely parry in general with it
It also can't windup after one of the golem attacks.
oh the SNEAKY golem attack yeah lol
Apparently there is hidden stagger time limits based on which attack you parry...
it's a weird fake out stagger they do, i think i remember it happening consistently on the 2nd time you parry them
but yeah that can trick you into attacking XD
It's usually on the heavier attack. Trolls do it too.
If you parry the two-handed they recover almost immediately.
and then they switch up their attack-yeah was just sayin the troll thing
yeah they tricky. i honestly don't battleaxe them, i parry with shield and then use a pickaxe XD
Need to go chop an assload of wood for coal...
there's few solo mobs that i battleaxe unless i can do significant damage, agianst abominations, or crystal vs viles,
If I am going to battleaxe, I am going to battleaxe at all times.
imean. sigh.
not even 1 handed axe??
you have a prayer of parrying them with-wait how are you parrying a golem on VH with a battleaxe??!
What is the most number of wolves you guys have tamed?
Every other weapon in the game can follow-up on a parry. Why is this the sole exception?
it can for almost every mob
I have a test world 😄 I am not forcing VH for all things if I am going to give it a "fair shake" 😄
oh you're testing battleaxe on normal difficulty vs golems?
Tamed? 6.
Yeah because on VegVH I am exclusively dodging 😄
or booping
So when I beat a boss, I swap to test world and spawn all of the next biome stuff once so I can test the normal battleaxe experience.
or timing an attackto hit htem as they get to you
wait you what??? but isn't part fo the experience going into a biome with the previous biome's gear??
?
you said you beat a boss, then dev command the next biome's gear so you can start the biome already with taht biome's gear?
Enemies.
Bonemass is dead.
I spawned in all the mountain enemies to test iron battleaxe against them.
Windup is too slow vs. Golem, Ulv, Gierhaffa.
I can follow-up with every one-handed weapon and even the sledge.
Battleaxe is, as I have been advocating, just like 0.1s too slow.
Which is the problem.
ohhhh ok
ok but i think you're battleaxign in a sub-optimal way, the axe is meant to initiate and chop, if you're parrying it's because it's a ranged mob or something, on easier difficulties you stagger most things very easily with the first hit, and on VH don't even thikn about parrying so why are you parrying
Name another weapon that cannot be used in multiple ways and forces a single playstyle?
name another weapon that effortlessly cleaves everything in front of you and has bonus stagger damage
also, 2 handed hammer?
bow?
magic?
See above about how the hammer still has time to follow-up after parry.
the 2 handed hammer?
Bow works better at range, but doesn't force it.
🤬 would I have replied specifically to that line if I did not mean 2-handed 🤬 ing hammer????
but why do you even need to parry an ulf, just hit it and its dead
and why should a weapon with glorious cleave and obnus stagger not have a downside
need to build a new base, my old one is getting really really cramped from all the new crafting stations and all my boxes are so so full
The downside is you have no shield so your block armor is lower.
The downside is how slow it swings. I am just saying it is a tad too slow.
thinking plains, maybe black forest
Why does the one-handed sword have literally no downsides at all when it should have an MtP?
cuz its cleave is wonky? idk
i always felt like the devs were sayinig ur supposed to use swords, and these other weapons are silly niche things
like 1 hand axe is objectively worse in every way to everything
If 1h sword had MtP that wouldn't be true.
i never even thought about using 1h axe as a weapon until i saw someone in here say they use it
for me it was just for chopping down treees
true
it should have mtp if 2 hander doesn't anymore definitely
Indeed.
arite well keep trying the battleaxe i promise it's good, just try swinging it a little more instead of playing defense
I'm going to keep trying it, because fair shake.
Just depends on if they list of un-followable grows or not.
Yeah, when I use the battle axe its to be aggressive, and to kill 5, 6, 7, 8 fulings. If I want to block, I'll have my shield in hand, along with another weapon. Like Porcupine. Or the BM sword.
I am very aggressive, but sometimes the cadence of a fight works in a block/parry.
Off to find Moder...
And then I need 1 more silver vein to max out the Silver Sword.
I also further don't understand why people found Black Forge so jarring.
Like when you got normal Forge, you cannot fully upgrade Bronze stuff.
Next biome gets all remaining upgrades of it.
Black Forge progression is an exact copy of this.
-15% movement speed is nasty tho
Yeah, it is. I think people found it irritating because we waited so long to get that upgrade.
People playing now will just move on to Ashlands and get it. No year long wait.
that is the thing of playing an EA game, even though imho the best done ever EA game really
im in mistlands rn with my friend but trying to build as much as possible before moving to the mistlands boss
God I hope not
trying to time it right so we finish ashlands when deep north releases
Hey c'mon now, maybe she finally gets her hands on a new weapon.
ᓚᘏᗢ
Has there been any major updates with new biomes etc since ashlands one?
I'll look more into that, thanks a lot
or in my case spear for secondary cuz i dont bow
eh, never found it a huge issue
Fenris trophy 👀
Moder dead. Straight to Plains or build Crystal BA... decisions decisions..
You can definitely do the plains without the CBA. So I'd start, worry about crafting later.
crystal axe if you want a SLIGHTLY easier time killing viles, growths, yagluth
I have rank 4 silver sword for Yag 😄
but otherwise ya gob gobs immune to spirit so
That's why I'm debating should I get more silver 😄
oh lol well if you’re allowing yourself swords screw the crystal XD
nice, iron baxe is amazing in swamp. and ya me and my 0 mace skill and iron mace i just made every time hehe
If your switching to swords, just make the BM sword as soon as you have the mats, use it through the plains and early Mistlands. Just save the silver sword for Bonemass and then Ashlands mobs.
OMFG just accidentally found ROCKY!!!!
ON an actual place that's awesome to build a base. im sorry i doubted this seed
I've only had one seed I disliked and it was because the starter was so small I had to use a raft to get off of it to really start progressing. It was only meadows, and a small one at that.
lol i had a seed lke that, it was actually awesome cuz here i am on a raft in the ocean and a storm hits, idk if you've rode a raft in a bad storm it's epic
I have, but it was years ago, just like this seed was.
I also only have Fenris at rank 3 so I need to finish that off.
i dont think anything beats the cold slow from frost weapons in ashlands
it is, by a bit.
Depends on the mob.
MAYBE more damage, but that slow is op
bugs also hate cold ya its good
Spirit damage wins against most of the mobs in Ashlands. You'll get a better overall damage.
Mistwalker is a great all-around sword for Ashlands, well balanced IMO.
Balance? In Valheim? 👀
From what I understand, no weapon is as op as going mage, so I don't care.
Magic is so OP 😄
mehhhhhhh
ok so the vine staff will let you breath for the first time if you came to ashlands with bad choices. i will still take my lightning greatsword over magic
It will take a bit for you to go from arrival to having Ling Slayer though.
On arrival, staff of fireball is one of the most broken things you can wield.
crapshoot whether you get green or blue for vine or lightning
Green is for bows.
sure it's useful, i still found myself permanently running and reapplying bubble when i first landed
AFTER i realized how hot ass my atgier was against charred
im a silly no spoiler player so dang my atgier main run was interesting.....
by the time i got vine staff all my skills were reset anyway, so..
SECOND time to ashlands i came with a tower shield and sword and didn't die once
I had Mistwalker and Himmminimimmimniimin when I first arrived. So when I realized atgeirs weren't as good, I had a backup.
Cramped
Himmminimimmimniimin 😂
😂
I do wish they had just made Jotun Bane into a 2-handed tbh,
ohmygod. that was fantastic. thats as much as i care to say that name too
ugh, scrotum bane. i pretend that weapon doesn't exist
Poison needs a rework.
needs true stacks and/or spike damage on stacks reached like some league of legends mechanic
Or something like I put in #suggestions the other week 😏
or effect like target takes 25% bonus dmg with 5 stacks
but then most thingsa re poison immune because valheim is land of skeletons
I don't want it to stack because the other 2 dots stack and that's boring if they all 3 do it 😄
doesn't fire like... KIND OF stack?
Skeletons don't matter with Jotun. They are so weak by the time you have it you just destroy them with a hit. So poison wouldn't even have a chance to work on them.
Fire fully stacks, if you sneak attack even those ticks will be higher
though you can jump in water
Fire and Spirit both stack, yes.
Which is why I changed Spirit a bit in my suggestion too. To make each DoT unique.
but i thought fire was like yeah it stacks sort of, second stack gets 80%, third stack gets 60% somethin like that
no
ok somebody's lying to me then
all ticks should be equal
Many source of fire dmg also come with blunt (embers, frac) or pierce (fire arrows) which could lead to that impression
equal meaning one fireball ticks for 10 at a time, 2 fireballs tick for 20 at a time
yep! but if you toss 2 fireballs, the very last fire tick should be only 10 because the first fireball has already expired
right
well now i wish i remembered who that was, because it was a very specific lie about fire damage
It may not have been a lie, the wiki can be clear as mud at times.
are Maypoles guaranteed to spawn in every seeds? just hard as balls to find
I don't think so, but they are buildable in the summer/spring.
(And no one will begrudge you using free build during the off months).
it's like 5 or 6 in every worldgen i thought, but I'm not sure
i wonder if you can change your system date lmao i've never actually tried
Pretty sure they are not a guarantee to have in a given world. Certainly hard to find if they are. I have not come across one in the last several worlds. I explore a lot too.
i was so excited to find 2 but they both were in such a bad places, absolutely no way i want to build bases there
Definitely a confounding issue. Of the ones I have come across, I think I was only willing to build there twice. Only one of which was before we were even able to make them.
it is also very annoying trying to build around them since you need to have bedroom close
or i guess you can build your comfort room to be any room you want but for me it's bedroom always
Yeah, I put them inside my house as part of my hearth area. No way I was letting them get destroyed.
Huh, black metal was a much smaller upgrade than I was expecting
I got a new axe and shield, and that's about it
why jump cost so much stamina tf
You skip leg day
It goes down as you increase jump stat
It doesn’t, but lightfoot mead and feather cape reduce it
Hmm then I've been wrong since the game launched.
yea jumping is wacky because its the one skill that doesn't reduce stamina consumption
just got krom and i find it weird how the 2H sword special gives 1 adrenaline whereas 1H sword gives 3, intended?
they both take about the same amount of time to do too
And have the same damage amp
it's confusing to me too, it might have to do with consistency between 2h weapons (secondaries all give 1 adrenaline) and 1h weapons (secondaries give 3) - is that even right?
greataxe's being 1 adren makes sense because of how fast it is, but greatsword's is so slow
i feel like it should give 2 too at the very least, if not 3
tbh for me both are kinda low to make a meaningful difference, most of the adrenaline generation comes from the stagger that usually happens after
but yeah so many adrenaline mechanics feel weird to me, it feels closer to one of those "67x combo!!" systems in fighting games
Surely not intented, but according to the latest Word from Devs blog there might be some tweaking in upcoming weeks/months.
it might be a case of twohanded weapons all giving 1 adrenaline for secondary attacks. without taking into account that the atgeir is a big aoe and the battleaxe is a quick stab. as opposed to the twohanded swords massive single target thrust
Is there anything else besides porcupine that does blunt and pierce damage?
trinkets are also supposed to "reward skilled play" which hitting a the secondary of battleaxe or atgier is about a 1 out of 5 as far as difficulty. 2 hand sword secondary should be a little more, but it's really all about the staggering and if you use either of those abilities you're going to most likely stagger your target for +5 adrenaline. i imagine they wanted to balance it to not be a massive adrenaline farm, imagine you get 5 just for using atgier secondary, and then 5 for staggering the thing you hit, and the low damage of it, that sounds like a stupid busted adrenaline farm weapon
Also are battle axes good now
id argue they always were, but there's new higher tiers of them, and the adrenaline reward from staggering and criting with them works great with trinkets
They've been for long time, takes some time to get used to the windup of first hit but there are also more battleaxes in later biomes after Call to Arms update.
They better than atgeirs?
situational and personal preference
Ty
Atgeir secondary is surely easier and has AoE and higher stagger multiplier, but being pierce damage which more mobs resist than slash damage it can suffer bit from that. Plus only the secondary attack has high stagger, battleaxes have higher stagger for both primary and secondary attacks.
from personal experience if you're an atgier main and you land in ashlands you're going to die a ton
To be specific, atgeir secondary has 6x stagger multiplier, battleaxe primary has 1,5x and secondary 4x (effectively 2x of weapon damage).
and there's no ashlands atgier but there are ashlands axes. but to be fair you have the 2 biggest battleaxes advocates here XD you'll find people who think atgier is the only way to play the game too
Himminafl gets some easier time for not being fully pierce but partial lightning which is only elemental damage type that adds to stagger.
imean its possible it was because my little toes had never seen ashlands before but i died like probably 30 times before i got a vine staff and switched to magic my first time there. but when i came back with swords it was easy town
certainly SOME of that is experience, but.
i was also trying to fight charred soldiers with the atgier which lol.
Atgeir secondary surely is like a cheat code for quickly making room by pushing and staggering everything around for a moment.
yeah, but against charred it’s like “ha ha you’re stunned now I can wait why are you hitting me?“
Especially with Berserkir mead.
@tacit crystal have you done battleaxe on higher difficulties? im on hard and it still tells mobs when and how to die just fine, and sevrahn is slowly coming to the dark side using it on very hard
I actually had one hard perma run ongoing and also had made both iron and crystal battleaxe iirc. But it has been on long break for some reason.
Technically, the Stagbreaker does 5 pierce, but not really on the same level as Porcupine
im still swamping but it’s definitely good, would recommend, it’s a bit scary getting there with a bronze axe XD but so far so good, it CAN parry a star archer with mediocre food
Sevrahn has run into the same dumb timing wall he did last time.
So he is not turning just yet. He needs to see how far the wall extends.
have you tried hitting the ulf before it hits you instead of parrying it? but also if it breaks stagger before your 1st attack lands that just means you’re immediately staggering it again
I am not repeating this conversation 😁
haha, not repeating just curious if you heard what i said last time and tried it
I have this memory it was very useful against most mobs since it staggered more surely due to slight damage decrease by the difficulty.
ulfs are fodder we dont parry fodder we reap them
the only big issue i had was this time a spawner in a dungeon made an elite and a star elite, and the elite was shoving the star elite at me down the hall who got to keep sprinting at me while swinging and couldnt be staggered
i sadly confess i panicked and use the entrance step cheese to kill them…
Say it louder for those in the back?
you’re that offended we’re talking about ulfs for a second time?
I'm not sure where that came from
but offended? I'm not even aware it was discussed already
?? then do you just mean repeat conversations in general or what
I AM NOT REPEATING THIS CONVERSATION 😁
Kitty!
I am lost and I will remain lost
same i guess 😆🙃
Original cliff notes:
Me, long time ago testing battleaxes (BA) - the windup is like 0.1s too long because I cannot follow-up on my own parries.
Yacko, long time to present - Give BA's another try, they are great.
Me, at present giving them another try - everything fine until Mountain when I run into enemies that I can stagger, but the windup on the first attack is 0.1s too long so I cannot follow-up on my own stagger.
Yacko, at present - Just hit them first instead of trying to parry.
Me, at present - name a single other melee weapon that cannot follow-up on its own parry stagger window?
You cannot, because there is none. Hence the problem. And not a large problem. Just a 0.1s problem.
right. then new part of convo was
yacko: just hit the ulf don’t parry it
sev: me likey parry ulf
But I will continue and see how many enemies make the list.
Sometimes you get surprised and need to parry. 😭
true! and its a great defensive free(ughhh why) tool, you dont HAVE to capitalize on it
I did try the ashlands rooted axes and I do like them 😛
or just swing and hit it a little late. ulf goes “ha, i’m not staggered anymore-OOF im staggered”
Green is for bows.
Entitled to your wrong opinion but aight ❤️
oooo the your came out 🤣
The change is so much better.
Thanking you Chef
Nono, you are the wrong opinion 😏
i actually appreciate green axes, the disable procing is pretty great you can just hit them for free
Green on melee - let me root something in place so I can stay in melee range where it can still hit me, making the root pointless.
Green on bows - let me root something so it stays over there allowing me to shoot it more without having to move.
Green is for bows.
id still use lightning because lightning but i cant argue against green
no but they just sit there they cant hit back
i distinctly remember walking to the side and back of rooted mobs and they couldnt get me
Jesus Odin Christ....
haha, yeah its more like… they’re entangled and cant move OR turn
if rooted you cant change direction
which imean, accurate being wrapped up in roots
maybe if u face them they might hit, so Maybe..
Seems the convo is repeating
You were confused and I sought to bring clarity 😭
well clearly sometimes new things are discovered if a conversation repeats
Repeating Subjects... it's school all over again
Imagine repeating subjects at school
American education system 😏
Finished highschool? Go to college/uni where the first 2 years is just... highschool all over again. 😄
Learn more on the job in 2 months training hands on than you'll ever learn in the public education system! On a different note. What's your record for highest amount of cores from a burial chamber. With regular loot settings of course. Last night I got 17 from one chamber!
Surtling Cores? Yeah 15-17 is probably my record as well.
I did 4 chambers prior to the record breaker for myself. Those 4 chambers yeiled 5 cores. Then 17 from the next!
Kind of like iron, I've had crypts give me like 14 iron and then the next one dumps out 250
Both Primal axes and Klossen. 🤌
is there a way to reset the dungeon by console? or comamnds?
Not as far as i am aware
Whens the next update
how do you use the trinkets?
When it is ready.
Build, equip, fight until adrenaline bar full.
what is this new adrenaline bar
Damn, I wanted it right here and right now and then cry about next update 😃
You will see it when you start fighting while you have a trinket equipped.
so bar fills, trinket auto activates, rinse and repeat?
Yup.
Not sure where in settings but you can have all dungeons repopulate after said amount of time.
Not in vanilla you dont
Only things that respawn in dungeons are yellow mushrooms in burial chambers and sunken crypts and royal jelly nodes and some mobs in infested mines.
Or download your mod. I'm sure they can let you know which one it is in the modding channel
Only time you need to repop dungeons is if you're playing with a big group and resources are stretched.
Imagine Subject repeating subjects about subjects at school.
Too many subjects?
If resources are streched, you could try raising the resource multiplier from world modifiers.
I currently have group total of 3-4 (including me) and 1,5x resource multiplier has been quite nice.
I need a seed that's got an insane amount of plains on it with like 300 tar pits for farming tar
And prolly 9000 stone pillars
Them tar pits are scattered around the plains in world and IIRC the amount of plains in each world is around the same percentage.
I need to increase just stone and tar drop rate then
Resource slider from world modifiers is for that.
Doesn't that adjust everything though?
Yes it does for all drops. There is no specific sliders for certain materials.
I don't need 5000 resin and bone shards. And tbh I don't need mass ingots either, I don't mind mining them because they aren't needed in insane quants
Just the foundation of a dock build used two boxes of stone
I don't like the resource slider to be honest. Wish it was set for stone and wood only.
One can just focus on mining stone and tar then and let every else materials to be in that case.
If I end up using resource slider I always increase difficulty to make it fair.
Yeah there was a mod I used before and made it do stone, wood , and tar at 1.5x. but it's 5 years outdated. Maybe it still works though
Sliders for specific materials would be a good idea tbf.
So?
Don't pick it up or drop it off at a place where you don't have a workbench. Or put it in the obliterator and get some coal out of it.
I don't see the problem here.
Building mats specifically. I don't wanna just no cost or spawn my build mats, but even medium sized builds can just drink mats like water
And while I gripe about building, maybe make the stone cutter and work bench have a larger radius 😂
I'd be happy if they just increased the stone cutter radius with the bench it's connected to.
That way 1 would likely cover my entire base.
Except that upgrade is a late game addition, making it a bit useless for increasing the range as most players usually have a fully develloped base by then.
Which upgrade? Doesn't the workbench increase with each level up?
Workbench does.
But the upgrade to the stone cutter comes after you defeated the Queen. Which means it that one would increase its range, it's pretty late in the game, which makes it quite useless.
There is no upgrades for stonecutter, afaik. Artisan table gets an upgrade after Queen tho.
Yeah I have not noticed an upgrade for the stone cutter. I could easily miss it.
That's why I said go by the work bench it's connected to.
The stonecutter isn't connected to any workbench.
You don't need a bench down to build one?
YOu know, perhaps if you use a bit less confusing wording, people would actually understand what you mean.
Because up to now you've been giving the impression that the stone cutter has an upgrade, then imply that the stone cutter upgrade can be done when there's a workbench connected to it and now you're asking if you need a workbench to build a stonecutter..
So what the hell do you actually mean?
Needing the workbench and or stonecutter to build a house is doo doo mechanics
Lemme just build
I'd even take pre making the blocks lol, but then you have weight problems
I started off saying I would be happy if they based it off of the bench it's connected to.
Sounds like the best solution is to just make the radius bigger, then no worries no cry
Stonecutter is not connected to any workbench.
It's a seperate crafting station.
Just like the forge, the black forge, the spinningwheel, the artisan table and the galdr table are separate crafting tables.
You need a bench to build a cutter, correct? Sounds connected to me.
So in your reasoning the cow is connected to the corn?
After all, the cow's shit is used as fertilizer to grow the corn.
The only things connected to a workbench are the Adze, chopping block, Tanning Rack.
I take it your having a bad day, so I'll just leave you alone for a while.
I'm not having a bad day.
I'm trying to explain in my simple 4 year knowledge of the English language to you who've been a native English speaking person for your entire live that there's a BIG difference between two things being being connected to one another or where one thing is a requirement for the other to be constructed.
But I guess, with my simply 4 year English education I may be mistaken as you are the Native English speaking person, thus you are always correct and I am wrong.
After all, people who speak fluently English after having it at school for only 4 years aren't as intelligent as one who's been speaking it their entire life. Right?
So next time you want to post something here, do it in Dutch, German, French, Polish as I speak most of those languages. As well as partially Italian, Spanish and Indonesian.
Because there's more than just English in the world. But that's something a lot of native English speaking seem to forget; hence why they think they know it better as those had to learn that language as a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th language.
what the...
Anyways...
Vinny died. To a wolf.
Should’a shot the wolf
So....
Restart or corpse run to avenge the death on the wolf. And it's kin?
Fair, but this shit ain’t really an English class. Unless you need or needed to clarify or define something
I did, but it was a two star wolf and I was in a hole
but then the roles were reversed afterward so I did shoot the wolf again.
What bothers me the most is I had bonemass readied and I didnt use it. I would have saved me
Bro got the stepsis treatment
My fear’s are realized.. I’ve perished 4 times so far 😔
Incendiary arrows best arrows
I’ve already perished 4 times just to attain black forest materials
True. Unfortunately it's about something far worse.
Someone not willing to admit he's wrong, even when explained that there's a different between a requirement and a connection.
And in all fairness, it doesn't matter what language you speak or how many you do speak. The moment you don't want to admit you're wrong, you're not the brightest 💡 around.
Sounds about right
If you read the rules it states English in chats.
If you read the whole conversation instead of the last post only, you'd understand why I wrote that.
And if you're able to read between the lines, you certainly would understand.
That comes off pretty disrespectful. That's also in the rules. But so is backseat moderating so I guess I'll just grab screens and make a report.
Is this a troll account
Oh, if someone wants to message the mod-mail and make a report, I won't mind.
There's a reason I reacted that way and I will explain it to whoever contacts me after the report is reviewed.
Just know that if someone draws his or her conclusions from my last post, without reading what comes before it, they are making a big mistake in judging me.
But that's not my problem, it's theirs.
Make that five 💔
Sounds like you got a terrible entry point.
Any chance to get your stuff back, get out and land somewhere else?
@silk token I will finish Crystal BA and upgrade before Plains.
But can we talk about why all the Mountain enemies, who are not undead, take spirit damage? 🙁
Go for double-digits, I believe in you!
Spirit vs Fenrir and ulvs is pretty normal lore wise no? Silver vs werewolf.
As for everyone else on the mountain :/ not sure.
im brand new to valheim and ive no idea what im doing and too scared to venture
Welcome Viking!
thanks subject
Still in the meadows?
Your best friend will be Hugin the Raven. As you adventure biomes and pick up items it'll appear to give you hitns
yes im still in meadows, i killed a troll and thats my biggest achievement by far
"Wow I just killed Eikthyr first try, no animal is going to kill me now"
The humble bear:
It's the opposite for me lmao
I mean, killing a troll is pretty big accomplishment as a new player. They're tough. You're going to love the game. It's my number #1 game I love to play.
lmaooo
Im too terrified to spawn eikthyr
it took me forever to kill the troll and bear
I see a bear and I'm like "oh no"
You got to make a bow?
yeah
Believe it or not, but Eikthyr is actually easier as a troll or a bear.
I just did it with a spear and shield
Some stones, wood and a hammer. All you need for Ek. Lay down campfires and light him up!
Now bears are are actually terrifying
that bear was rushing me
ill mess that up somehow
💀
And killing deer with a spear is kinda annoying but I kinda got used to throwing spears now
You can pick it up right after
Trust me. Just don't step in the fire and don't huff all the smoke. Make sure you have good stamina and just spam fires underneath EK.
I wish I could lose my 5 stone hammers because I crafted multiple of those right away because I didn't know you could repair tools
i was just gonna shoot him with fire arrows
Throw it, keep running in the same direction, you will auto pick it up (if that's on) equip it and stab the thing to death.
Now I gotta think of here to drop them off
same
make a trash ditch with a hoe? 😛
For deer one throw is enough, thank god
i had to shoot a dear like 3 times with a bow to kill it, the first deer i killed ran into my axe swing when i was fighting a goblin thing
Das plenty
ok hes not gonna one shot me like a troll right
Flint spear oneshots a deer but you gotta account for the arch
i need to play with ppl to not be terrified 💀
He does have an attack like that but it's well telegraphed and you can just run away
Spears do not have as much arc as bows, so there is less to account for.
I just tanked it with a shield honestly
You'd think it would be the opposite since arrows are lighter
Bows are the longest way to kill bosses just fyi @fast stone
If you got leather armor, you're even going to be more safe.
Crude bow has Crude arc 😉
All I prepared for the fight was leather armor, wooden shield and flint spear and that's it
And even then I felt overprepared
i have a mix of leather and troll
i really want a cape 😠
🤔
LOL
No capes!
did u just start or are u experienced
ill keep that in mind, im too scared to get any closer ngl
Nah I have no idea what's going on in this game
how are you not terrified
I just played until there's nothing else to do but summon the scary deer
The early progression here seems pretty straightforward
and now ur running into the black forest with no fear?
Nah the bears and inventory management terrifies me more
LOL
@fast stone Food is the most important stat in the game.
It effects how much you can block/parry.
So when you enter any new biome, one of the first priorities is getting the new food running as it will make everything in that biome easier.
Honestly building brings me more terror here
you can parry?
How am I supposed to place a bed near a fire if I can't put a fire indoors
If you want details, food sheet is pinned in this channel. It has a Configurations tab for quick reference as to what you should be aiming for per biome.
i made a hole in my house for mine
Blocking just as they are about to hit you blocks for more and staggers the enemy.
Note: Tower Shields cannot parry.
Oh but you can put them in doors 🙂
I just put a fire under my house (it's elevated above a swamp)
im running towards eikthyr now
You can put a fire indoors.
But you need to keep some distance from anything made from wood if you got the fire hazard modifier on.
You also need to build something to disperse the smoke. A chimney may do, but make sure you close it somewhat at the top so the smoke can go out, but the rain can't get in.
Beat her to death with wooden club!
i build like a toddler draws
Now skeletons are pretty scary
Cuz I need stuff for a smelter and I assume it's down in some dungeon
I am remembering where I build my permanent house in this world so now I have a long sail ahead of me...
And I still want to tame a boar but I gotta find whatever I can feed it
i unlocked stagbreaker from getting corewood but im too scared to get more corewood
I want my wild piggies
Berries, Shrooms, Vegetables.
There was one glorious patch where boars required Carrots, and it was awesome, but they undid it immediately... 🙁
if it starts storming after i summon eikthyr am i cooked
Hmm, I tried using rasperries on a boar but it didn't work, like I tried to eat it myself instead of feeding
Define "didn't work" because it takes multiple days.
I sneak up, try to use a raspberry on a boar (like, press 5 while aiming at the boar right next to me) and it does nothing
i think u have to drop it no?
idk how taming works at all i want a pet boar
stress relief boar 🙁
Yeah no. You need to cage them, drop the food in, and then wait for days until they tame themselves.
If you startle them it resets their progress.
And you also need to be in radius or the taming pauses.
So most people just train their sneak for a couple days while waiting.
do u need to move around while sneaking to increase sneak
It's 30 minutes as long as they aren't alerted (exclamation mark over their head). That's technically one Valheim day and one Valheim night.
And best way to make sure they aren't alerted, put up a wooden wall and hide behind it.
Don't use a fire nearby, because that would alert them.
Yes, it's based on stamina drained iirc.
now im omw to eithyr fr
Also, random -- given how they changed Elder buff, I'm honestly going to say it is better to rush Elder and then slow down and use his buff to get the mats from the BF.
what do tamed boars do, can they help u?
They are mainly just a reliable material source.
As you can breed them to get more.
Then kill some off for meat/leather.
Then breed more.
And they are cute for people who enjoy the farming sim aspect of this game.
weak bastards
Feeding is for breeding, they cannot starve.
is their like a good pet that will follow and fight... or be used as bait to get away? lol
thank goodness
Do you care about spoilers
Wolves. But they can get killed rather easily when you take them to later biomes.
no not really tbh
i play this game to relax even though it scares the hell outta me
oooo
ok, i brought my trophies with me this time... i really hope i dont regret doing this 💀
i paused
Remember that, even though you can build amazing things and the world is pretty, the story and point of the game is "get in, kill Forsaken, ascend to Valhalla" -- we are not meant to do anything permanent or make friends in this realm.
aww man
Eik has 3 attacks, once you learn them you will be untouchable.
i want pet friends 😢
Nah I’ll be out here building giant temples
Pet friends are for your base, not for your adventures 😛
Oh, you will have those.
Some howl when they're young, some provide you with food even if you don't kill them, some are big and fluffy and you can ride them - but not fight from them - and some look cold and slimy, but seem to be great fighters too. At least, when they're wild.
Overall there's enough pets you can have and even pet. And when you pet the pets, they will tell you they love you.
And create off spring if they're well fed too.
ooooo
On a scale of 1 to 2, how hard was it?
Considering Trolls and bears are most likely a 7 or 8
Did what?
She told the deer boy that it wasn't her dear boy anymore
Avoid going out at night if the combat is hard
Wooden Shield, good food and knowing how to parry will keep you alive.
How long do asksvin take to tame 😮💨
Just don't parry anything with a star or any trolls until you get the Bronze Buckler.
okie
Buckler is the largest defensive upgrade in the game.
