anyone help me build?
yea tbh I'm a huge fan of the way armor calcs are handled in this game with the nonlinear scaling
but some of the effects feel weird
I like this idea
Doing my regular game recording, it started off with a very nice shipwreck find: #screenshots message
Followed by a fight with a couple of Draugrs, of which the Elite dropped a trophy, then an Abomination which also dropped a trophy and eventually; after I ignored the skelly trophies; a Wraith, which... again ... dropped a trophy.
While I had the Draugr elite and the Abomination trophy, I didn't have the Wraith one. Which means all trophies from Meadows, BF and Swamp are now collected.
All that misses from those biomes is the Wooden Sledge. After that it's off to the mountains for the two trophies and the weapon I need / want to collect from there.
Starting the Yagg hunt π«‘
Good luck! Finding the word wall was definitely easier than finding an actual location my current play thru.
how do i play with people :/ dont wanna play alone for my first time
You rope in your friends to play with you π
With friends would be ideal.
yall got those?
Yep. Plus my spouse plays almost as much as I do.
It says so on facebook
welp money not well spent i guess
Why? You can play a singleplayer game alone π
I play with wife and friends from time to time. Prefer alone though
Game is fun both solo and co-op, I'd say for the half price it's very much worth it (even for full price). π
the whole premise was oh cool online survival open world game i can prob play with randoms and make friends
but every server is password protected or something
In case you want to play with new people you can search or post in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510, but like pointed out, playing with friends can be safer than with randoms.
You need to contact the owner π all servers are player hosted and are required to have password to give griefes more trouble getting in, there are no official public servers.
I wouldn't want to play this with randoms π unless you're a speedrunner, a world is a long time commitment and I would at least want to know everyone agreed on certian things. If people just came and went randomly it would likely be hell
But finding a group online could be cool
cant even join anything everything says failed to connect no matter what i do
usually i like playing my survival games with friends but i prefer valheim solo
dedicated server where whole friend group can play anytime they want would be cool tho, but i do not wanna share my base with anyone
just everyone progressing in their own speed
If you are all on steam try to turn off crossplay, also turn off any VPNs any of you might have
done that and have no vps ive seem to have tried everything nothing works which is weird bc i never had this problem before playing it im just coming back to it now
yeah nothing seems to be working no matter what we try
Hmm, no idea why it does that, the few times i played on servers and got this issue just few tries of re-joining fixed it π€
Not being the same version can also cause problems. Everyone updated to the newest?
Would give different message, it would say "incompatible version"
Not always. Especially on steam. I've only gotten "failed to connect" for not having the same version.
Huh, weird
Even more so, since it was trying to play on the same server with my wife. Being in the same house. π
we are on the same 0.221.4
If your all using steam, make sure you have all updated your steam app as well.
This kind of stuff is why I always auto update now.
both up to date sadly
Yeah, I am out of problems I have ran into. π
With dathost you can get a server for roughly $10 a month
seems to be the case with everyone we have tried everything now
Could be that driver X11/12 problem I have see in the help channel. Smiffe is an expert on it by now.
whats that?
Its the driver set Valheim uses. Windows no longer auto updates it. So Smiffe has people do manual updates.
how does one do that
I'll see what I can find via google.
it also doesnt let us join anyone
Nah we can't join anyone else's servers either
Asking just in case, any mods?
nope never used
no neither
Meh, worth a shot, but that would also most likely say "incompatible version" and not "failed to connect"
Just go to Microsoft and follow their instructions for updating Direct X for your version of Windows. Just one more thing to be sure about having the correct version of.
will try
There is a host of compatibility issues brought up in Steam conversations about having issues running Valheim, connecting to servers, etc...
I'd link them, but I don't have that option here.
You can then try getting Smiffe's attention in the Help channel. He often keeps an eye out for issues even on the weekends.
we both have the same directx versions so i dont think its that
will try get thier attention to help
Smiffe isn't the only one, so if any of the people able to help are paying attention, its in the Help channel.
yeah its late so can understand if its slow rn
Plus its the weekend. Still, it may take hours, but someone usually comes along.
true thanks for the help anyways
yeah thank you for having a look for us!
It will probably end up being something simple . I also assume they had you verify your files in Steam? Be odd for two of you to get corrupted at the same time, but maybe not.
would you mind running a game for a second do see if i can join that
just to see if i can actually join other peoples games or not
We'd have to become friends on Steam, etc... I don't run a G portal right now.
can you not just join on the comunity tab?
I guess so, never used them before.
what do you use?
Either a G portal server, or a private one among friends/family. I started one up, I'll be PMing you a password.
thanks a lot
anyone arab
So is there a way to join other community severs in valheim since they all locked
that is a VERY fair thing to be your first death
There was a guy "Sosis33" who asked earlier if anyone wanted to see a mosque he built, maybe him?
anyone wanna join me and my friends world? anyone is welcome, password is 12345, join code is 262541
that is thor on his sleigh
like why π
hey is anyone able to answer what i asked in valheim help channel?
looking for someone to join my server
Post it here π #1024264966712340510
Ur server dedicated?
Find out here π https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1424203184695410789
Just finished building a wolf armor set and silver infused weapons, decided to go out and start exploring the world. Jumped in my ship, floated halfway out from the center and pull up to a random bit of plains. Docked the boat and hopped out to find 2 mosquitoes. Totally wiffed a block and died to the 1st hit...sigh forgot to eat food. Remember to EAT food guys and gals! Very important when exploring new biomes!
Odin finally took pity on me. Ive been stuck for a week on 6 sealbreaker fragments. Past handful of dungeons Ive come up empty. And then I find a dungeon and come out wtih 7 fragments!
wow thats a lot
Just cleared an Infested Mine, which includes constantly hitting, dodging and parrying, but my Resounding Shackle barely reached 75% for a few moments and never activated. Same for beating Moder or clearing a Fuling village with a Nimble Anklet. The more I use trinkets the more I feel like they're designed for speedrunners. Anyways I have no idea wtf I'm supposed to do other than using that slot for something actually useful.
it doesnt take up a slot at all, trinkets are their own slot
Not in vanilla
The one where before CtA I used to put another item. (?)
oh, i thought you meant like equipment slot
That doesn't answer the question, though. Does anyone have a reason to use trinkets aside from early game ones?
i mean im in ashlands and use a trinket
it works pretty fine, sure it takes a bit for it to activate but its not useless
Ok, but how? My Resounding Shackle slept through a whole infested mine clearing done in one take, and I even used my forsaken power. Didn't stop fighting aside from the few moments needed to take resources and move to the next room.
i mean i think you are just thinking about them the wrong way, they are not supposed to be something that you are trying to activate, they are a bonus for extended combat. and in ashlands there are a very large abundance of enemies so procing the trinket isnt that hard
But clearing a mine is an extended combat. I never fought so many mobs in a row, a mine hits even harder than most raids. If they start working after Ashlands it means there's a huge gap in mid game when they're almost impossible to activate.
maybe, but i think its for the reason of not making them too op
imagine you get to proc it every 10 sec
you would be immortal
could the thresholds be lowered a bit sure
but idk i dont see any problem with them, they arent supposed to be huge change anyway i think
There must be a middle ground between every 10 sec and never. Because I'm sitting on never since I got past the Swamps.
but why is that a problem?
Because I'm using a slot, which is a limited commodity. I need a reason to do that in late game, because inventory management is super critical by then.
Also, an item that never delivers is disappointing and probably not that good as it could be.
yea probably
Hello, does anybody know how to sign up to be public tester?
i feel like this would be kinda hard to fix tho, how do you balance it for all biomes. like i proc mine pretty frequently in ashlands just due to the sheer abundance of enemies, but never in mistlands. if they lowered the threshold so you could proc it in mistlands frequently it would be pretty op in ashlands
how do you give it a middle ground where it wont just be op later from hoards
just found a bug with instant respawning yagg saplings
If they work as supposed in early game and in late game, but not in mid game, it's probably just a matter of tweaking some number. It needs to be done because a game that relies so much on progression can't ignore when progression is broken, also because this is piling up on other progression issues that existed before.
In Steam, you go in properties->betas, and in "beta participation" you select "public test". Then you input the access code below, which is "yesimadebackups" iirc
Thank you
anyone know how to remove planted crops with "Plant anything" ? i need to move my thistle and mushroom rows
Try #mods-issues or #mods-discussion
But Iβd recommend using dev commands to remove them
I donβt know if a way built into the mod
Is the game going to continue having new mobs and monsters to fight after it is out of early access?
I would expect tweaks or small additions post-EA, but no big content updates
Same I dont expect new bosses just new mobs and enemies
i expect this iron gate

Since when non starred deers only drop 1 hide?
guys should I replace my max lvl root harnesk with the flametal chestplate?
I killed the queen and I don't know if I should go for the chestplate or stick with the harnesk
I donβt know if root is worth it for most of ashlands but itβs very useful against the boss there.
Im looking for some people to play the new update with if anyone's interested give me a message
Alot of fire in ashlands, so root items and feather cape will be disadvantage. But against the ashlands boss root chest is great.
Barley wine overrides the weakness so itβs not an issue
I just pickaxed a bird π
Not too many mobs deal fire tho, I was long time surviving in Ashlands with Root Harnesk and without Barley wine and I was just fine. Only took Barley wine against the boss.
Nowadays I just rock with Ask set, which is the best set in game.
that's surprising. i looked just now at a clip of myself clearing one and my iron brooch is activated and about to be activated again throughout, and the effect duration is only 30 seconds. do you stop and rest and think between every couple mobs? or how do you clear it?
i'm about to try evasion mantle in mists, it's less adrenaline than iron brooch and will mean i can parry star seekers with battle axe more easily, and 2 star seekers with my buckler.
though i will add the higher adren ones like crystal heart were underwhelming for clearing goblin camps cuz the fight was over by the time they triggered
Is it normal that the "no skill drain" resets even without dying again? One time I died, got my stuff back, the "no skill drain" counted down to zero, and reset to ten minutes.
Bonus stats for fighting well is quite helpful, so yes. If I had to guess your combat style doesn't compliment how trinkets work? I am consistently filling adrenaline with dodge rolls, blocks and parries.
i actually RARELY dodge roll or parry, i just stagger and crit and it fills that way just fine too
Exactly, I find trinkets especially helpful against Morgen and Fallen Valkyries
No
π
Is that confirmed?
The developers have mentioned that Valheim will still be worked on beyond 1.0
Yes, Bugfixing
They didn't say bug fixing exclusively.
I wouldn't count it out, there's several mentions from developers about Valheim being worked on after 1.0. π
Oh thats great, cus the game is awesome, one of the best survival games and one of the best games to have fun with friends, being attacked by trolls, bears and other powerful creatures while one is afk and the other is screaming RUN MF is hilarious
Hey, how can I find people who wanna play?
It wouldn't fit the viking theme at all and I dont really care: I wish this game had a katana lol
It has a falchion π
This is the total amount of seed names, but not the total amount of unique seeds used in world generation. Seed names are the strings displayed to the player and used in world creation, but they are converted to 32-bit integers for use in world generation. This means there are only 4294967296 unique seeds to use for worlds, and each seed will have multiple seed names that can be used to generate them. I'm not sure of any good way to find these though.
Our characters must all be quite tall. The normal "door" being 2m tall and seemingly leading to always having to squeeze through with head knocking into the wall above. I never use it in buildings as it feels so cramped to walk through (unless I want something to feel cramped for whatever reason
Player collision is 1.85m tall
I usually clip that door halfway into the ground for animal pens, it is very small
β
Rocking hour!
How do i get a pet rock? π
gotta find them on the ground in black forest
You can find it between 5m and 20m above ocean in meadows, black forest, swamp and mountains, and further than 1000m from centre of the world, but you can feasibly find them only in meadows and black forest since the other two are clashing with the height requirement π
Like Asatru said. They're quite rare but very noticeably different compared to normal pickable stones: they're larger and smoother.
Wait hold on, there's actually pet rock in there?
It appeared as April Fool's joke at first but actually became real and has been there since.
Is there just one in whole world? Does it respawn?
There should be more than one, they also can appear in old worlds but in unexplored areas. The thing is that they're quite rare and has requirements where they can spawn, like Asatru mentioned above: #valheim-chat message
Thank you very much, I shall find my beloved rock
Interesting, still a large number of possible worlds
guys i am looking for a server to join
i have taken a look at the servers they all have passwords is there any puplic ones or maybe i could be invited into one ?
no
yes, if you look here #1024264966712340510
passwords/whitelisting are required to prevent griefing because so much stuff is clientside
I got bonemass and moder both ready to fight wondering whether to skip bonemass altogether tho to not have to deal with random wolf raids
If you want to find one of the wooden weapons and silver the hard way, sure why not?
I already have max silver armor and frostner+shield
So far Iβve not bothered with the wooden weapons either Iβm not sure what use Iβd have for them
Well, perhaps collecting them to put on display?
Or does everything have to have a use for you?
Itβs more so Iβve always had more important things to take out the chests and limited inventory space but a display could work I guess
Every viking wants to have proper training arena as part of their base, with all training weapons.
24 heavy swings and bonemass is down
Used Frostner, I assume?
I'm still on that quest too,
same π
are there other halloween stuff that pointy hat and jackolantern?
I don't think so.
Those are the only spooky time craftables. π
I like to replace the 2x1 just above it with a 26deg cross when it's in an actual building to give a little head room
is there no ID for female Player?
3 lox spawned on the spot i wanna build...immovable darn objects they are
So, food delivery.
well...to clarify....3 5* aggressive frost infused lox spawned where i wanna build
Not when speaking about modded content.
this isnt a vanilla chat
It is, in fact.
and i was making a statement about some spawns, not trying to have a discussion about a particular mod
you really need to get over yourself any time a mod is mentioned
perhaps just not say anything
Perhaps keep modding content in the mod-specific channels. It is not difficult.
its difficult for you to not go into crisis mode whenever something you dont like is mentioned
this isnt reddit, no one is going to hold your hand
That is false on multiple levels.
theres a pretty glaring difference in "wow 5* lox are wild" and "hey why are fenris mages so dang rare when wizardry armor requires so many shards"
i need some inpiration for a big open style build
Now that is what screenshots and the building channels are for. Its where I go to look for inspiration, anyways.
I enjoy vertical corewood beams spaced like 2m apart if you wanna make a lox ranch
makes it look like a golfing range
You tube also for ideas
Yeah, tons of build videos there as well.
Seen some on Reddit also
there are so many insanely good looking builds but im looking for something kinda more practical and less rp
or i could just make things into a shell i guess, i need to balance the need for everything being kinda centralized so i dont have to travel far to get materials and bring them to crafting areas etc and making it look good
I still look at the insanely good builds. You can still find ideas for much more practical builds within those. I'd never claim that I have done an insanely good build. Practical, yes.
i always find myself looking at the roofs, the roof is the bane of my building
we need thicker roof options
I became fine with roofing once I mastered the draugr village roofing in the meadows. You can do those, you can do any roof.
I always end up with expensive ass stone roofs I hate the straw
tar limitations always get me, ill be searching for tar pits once i get this area locked down
I like the tar roofing best out of all our current options. Then again, I haven't played around much with the Ashlands roofing. Just what little I have done feels and looks rather limiting.
It would probably help, a lot, if I used it outside of the Ashlands. Kind of limiting to build within such an ugly biome to begin with.
yeah im conflicted atm because i have a pristine survival spot right now so i wanna go all out building but dont have mistlands/ashlands mats yet.
gonna end up being stone and wood instead
@shy marlin met my first 2-star troll (4th troll overall this run)... gained 15 spear levels because VH π
I have "mastered" upgrading my original base to newer materials. I leave the floors alone, and just replace the walls and roofing with the newer materials. I hate transferring from older chests to newer, and just leave most things in my iron chests. Chests for newer mats will be black metal.
Have Devs ever established what unit of weight items are or even the opposite and made a stance that it's a generic weight unit?
kg
Kilo Grams
Now to consider whether a wiki wide change is worthwhile.
don't you usually eat 1kg of deer ribs, too? Or even, 10kg of serpent meat?
I honestly never thing about weight in general, because it's clear all the specific values are there because it's a game and nothing else
because any kind of metric breaks realism at some point if you think too much about it
OK, so Queen isnt nearly as tough as I remembered it. Easy solo this play through
You are just stronker πͺ
like 500g of deer ribs π€
To be fair the bones are visible on the deer meat's icon
And serpent meat just looks massive in general
my point is: can you eat all that? Sure, if you're literally Hulk, carrying around 300kg of stuff while naked, I expect you to be able to ingest several kilos of food
Those bear meat chunks are kinda... chunky
Was just trying to justify its weight, the eating part definitely not. Take your shot at what's more unrealistic, being able to eat 3 full course meals without dying on the spot or the fact that you have to keep eating them not even an hour later just to stay nourished lol
I just wanted to point out it's kinda pointless to put any kind of metric besides those numbers
food or not
10kg of serpent meat? Sound like a nice small snack
the whole premise that you can carry 300 "some metric" breaks any logic from the get-go
But then the old timers will come out of hiding just to say "The dragon egg weighs 200 what? Potatoes?"
Not gonna lie sailor's bounty should've just been a nice chopped up serpent on a platter
old timers should either accpet it's a game or accept being called duches tbh
is there any way to get back a deleted character?
Not as far as i know, if you didnt leave a copy of the files somewhere π€
damnit oh well
Did you click on remove by accident in the character select screen?
no, i worked last night and i let my little brother play on my pc last night
Don't they stick around if you go into "manage saves" for a while? A [character name].old file might be there?
Ok, found out sometimes the game does an auto backup, try to go to manage saves menu and go in character tab in there, you may be able to restore that backup
okay
Small pieces of Black Forest entrenched in huge Mistlands islands - those are some truly oppresed greydwarves. You'd think they'd be more grateful when I kill the bugs persecuting them.
Oh gods, just saw a bear get roflstomped by a soldier, poor pooh
I kinda wish those tiny blots of biomes weren't as common. Having several biomes on one island - sure, but at least let them be of a decent size π
Aaargh this island never ends, I must be getting close to Ashlands waters, but there should always be a bit of true ocan in between right?
Yep
Trying to get back to base sailing around the neigbouring island, but it keeps pushing me further and further south
Ever since ashlands update both them and Deep North have forced ocean border between them and other biomes π
Just got air raided by three seekers flying at me from a nearby rock. Eat frost arrows, bugs! Har! I'm so not ready for mistlands, but these guys didn't get close at least...
Seems they're too big to fly indefinitely, if I slow them with frost arrows they drop down in the sea and are sitting ducks
I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, I think the experience of playing a seed blind would be better. On the other - I would like to know that biomes are somewhat accessible (on some seeds almost all the swamps seem to be hidden behind plains etc) and that traders are in places that make sense (Haldor somewhat near center of the world, no traders at weird messy biome intersections etc).
So far I've gone more to the "look at the seed first using the website" side of things, but it also leads to an endless loop of looking for the "perfect" seed (which of course is subjective and changes depending on how I would like to progress through the game).
Oh, we are polar opposites haha, I go 100% blind - it is the major charm for me not knowing anything about the world and dealing with whatever quirks it has
I would love if I could have both π Check seed first, give it my seal of approval and then forget everything about it π
This for example is my first no-portals run. I am planning to unlock portals once I get to Ashlands - because by feck I won't subject myself to the torture of dealing with THAT without portals - so basically I'll pretend stone portals are the ONLY portals at that point. Anyway it puts a lot more emphasis on sailing than in any of my previous worlds, loving it so far - but this here island is on the verge of bringing me to Ashlands waters, sheesh...
Oshit I could turn north, a miracle!
I guess I could look through a large amount of seeds and then write down the ones I think fit my criteria... and then note the general things about them without saving a picture π So I could then go back and pick one without knowing exactly what it looks like
Wait a sec
You might be able to get it back with file recovery software. In general when you delete a file, it's not "really" deleted, your operating system "just" marks the space as "free" so new files can be written into its place. If new files haven't been written to that exact spot, it might be possible to recover the character file.
I recognise the shape of this island, I've definitely had this one on another world, but MUCH further north and completely different biomes
Bloody hell, Mistlands coast is so scenic it is downright ridiculous. I wish I could destroy the mist dispensers and see it all
You can put lanterns all over the place
Bit messy, but I guess it would work. At some point I wrote a suggestion about making the Dvergr marble lanterns you find around mistlands an actual build piece with a MUCH bigger radius of clearing mist than the regular wisplight. That would both make sense and make building in Mistlands a lot more fun. I mean, it could get unlocked after killing queen so you couldn't abuse it to cheeze Mistlands before "beating" it.
Yup π Some really stand out too
Elder down π Time to finish up bronze making.
Well, going "around the island to see how it looks" turned out to be a three-hour adventure, instead of just turning fecking right and being home in 15 minutes...
But hey I survived, and got some mapping done π
LOL welcome home committee in the form of a bear very nearly got me killed
Had forgotten to eat on the very long sea voyage
Fortunately eating isn't AS critical when your gear is substantially better than what you need for fighting things.
Yeah, but gosh it gave me a good scare
As it should. Something needs to make us get better about eating...
Hell yeah, complacency is the mother of most fuckups
I haven't had to deal with a bear yet, I just started my first playthrough in a couple years. I remember already seeing tons of trolls in the Black Forest though. Do the bears make BF too much?
Surprisingly no. At least, not to me. They are not as easy to aggro as everything else in the forest, so that helps.
Just take not of what their strengths and weaknesses are. Some ways of taking them on are way harder than others
I think they add nice things. They're pretty on par with trolls, having bit more HP and more resistances against certain physical damage types but they also deal bit less damage, especially one paw swings can easily be parried even with wooden shield. It also has more variety in attacks than trolls, one attack especially is quite quick one.
Their drops also add nice options in form of new armor pieces and new weapon.
Yep. Definitely a good idea to determine which weapon types work best. Tower shields make them pretty easy, though. Especially the skull shield. They can't even hurt you if your good on your HP.
Then again, it makes that true for trolls too.
Ty all!
Worst case scenario just pull out a torch and bears either turn into Usain Bolt and zoom away from you, or turn into a storm trooper that can hit you once every 20 tries
Its nice of a Gjall to only attack you and not damage your stuff that is all around you. I had no idea they could be so considerate.
I had no idea they feared fire. Guess I should carry a torch more often early in the game.
palce a fire pit right in front of bear then surround it
anyone know why Veinmine is no longer available to DL in R2modman? i was able to find it 5 days ago started a new clean profile and it no longer shows up in search
What term do I need to use to find writing my signs in different colors on the wiki?
Need help with a Ashlands progression question.
- Ive beat the Queen and got the Majestic Carapace ->
- Made the Artisan Bench Improvement ->
- Made Ceramic Plates ->
- The plates unlocked two recipes...I cant seem to find them on any of my benches or in the crafting hammer. Thoughts?
The drakkar was along with the other boats at that point. I think.
oh thank you! I didnt even pay attention that it could have been a boat! So guessing the boat is required to go to the ashlands then π
yes, you need to start farming.
You'll want ot start farming everything. Carrots from black forest, turnip from swamp, onions from mountian.
and flax and barley from plains.
i need the flax for armor so ill do that
you'll get much better health & stam from cooking foods on the cauldron.
oh ok
found a 1 star bear, do y'all think I can take him on?
Yeah, your food options get far better with farming, etc...
Im on leather armor + headdress of the bear
Yeah, he just has considerably more HP.
going to be a long fight.
welp, gonna try
I wanna complete the amor set
oh wow they really go stupid if you're holding a torch
done
boat & shield gennie
another 1 star bear!!
@gray sand Got bear trophy from 2 bears π 10% is 50% for me
I really hope they leave the Haldor trick in.
Just threw my spear at the rug 3 times and free trophy π
same
Noce i didint know about this
If they fix it, it should be by having haldor refuse service when you do that
Banned from the store
Nah.
Or have halstein aggro you
It unlocks Haldor raid, where youβre attacked by Haldor and his Lox
Knife > sword
Buckler > tower shield
Then again it's mostly a personal preference thing
i am tank for my friend
The best tank is the one that can hold the attention of all the enemies and either never get hit or take a ton of damage. That said a round shield offers good armor and the ability to parry or an atgeir to stunlock everything
That's an early game trinket, and those are mostly fine. I'm talking about mid game trinkets. Since getting to the Plains I'm trying all of them and they don't work in any situation: boss fights, clearing villages or mines, being ambushed by 3 big mobs that refuse to die...
All I get is the "you're playing wrong" argument, but I still don't know how to play "right" because fighting non-stop with a forsaken power didn't work any better than lulling. Anyways, is that what IG wants? Telling players it's their fault?
you prob using the large activation stamina which need a good tactic aiming at pumping it, suggest you use the low stam ones for early. Those activate easily when you get sustained engagement. Stam generation gets better the closer you are to many enemies and managing. Closer the better. Range gets less, pole the tiny exception.
some valheim server for xbox?
does playing in multiplayer also multiplies the amount of enemy spawn? me and my friend just got chased by an entire zip code of Greydwarfs and one Bear
the servers for xbox and steam are the same, or diferent?
I don't recall there being more enemies spawned with multiplayer (at least up to 3 people), though the enemies have more health and resistance. But more people means more sound means more enemies may zero in on your location and running about sometimes attracts more mobs...especially if you are being chased over long distances.
no but my friend was exploring in the BF alone at night until he yelled "HEEEEEEEEEEELLPPPPP"
ran to where he was and i saw an entire neighborhood up his rear
maybe he ran into one spawner, ran into another, and into a third one and everyone chased him like that scene in Dead Man's Chest
how many mobs are in an entire neighborhood?
no idea i didn't count their numbers but i think i killed at least 12 greydwarfs, 2 shamans, 2 brutes, and one bear
never saw that much when playing solo
Was this at night?
yes
Sometimes the night time spawns a huge amount. Kind of sounds like your friend ran into a double spawner there. And the mobs give chase over quite a long distance...easy to pick up more.
By huge, I mean like half the numbers you've posted. But I've never seen more unless I've run around like a chicken and blunder into a 2nd group.
he's new to the game lmao
but yeah thats probably what happened, just keeps running into spawners and dragging more and more mobs
I think of it as like a night greyfolk hunting party, usually consists of like 4-5 greydwarves, 1 brute, and 1 shaman, with an occasional random greydwarf (or 3) from a 2nd group. And it seems like whenever you run into a troll (and I'd imagine a bear now) that it always seemed to attract more and more mobs the longer the fight goes on.
why does rested not work with a high roof? it counts as shelter but i cant get rested unless im under the lowest part of my roof
Do you also have the fire effect when youβre under it?
@nocturne wolf yes im standing rite beside my fire
resting only werkin if i dont move at all
Definitely weird. My roof is higher than a birch tree. I know, because I have a birch tree inside my home, and I get the rested bonus just fine. No matter which part of it I am in.
Maybe there are creatures outside stopping you from resting?
welp just did a burial chamber that had 2 skellies and 1 chest and nothing else
He should be told that enemies are near by.
Oh, wait, I think that is just if you try to sleep.
yaa all my other worlds resting kicks in as soon as im dry when i enter my house now i have to stand still for it to activate
If you crouch, is the eye open? That means enemies are stopping you from resting.
for like 5 or 6 seconds as soon as i move it goes away
Yeah, check to see if enemies are near by. Otherwise it should work fine.
no enemies
Something odd is going on. Is your roof intact? Height should not be an issue.
Unless its so high your having collapsing issues.
My walls are now stone, so my roof goes over my birch tree, and remains intact.
I still had to use core wood supports, though.
What got you?
Bzzzzzzzzz?
how do you guys mine copper?
A. just mine the surface
B. strip mine the entire rock all the way down
prefer to dig all around it, potentially even below it if I can, first
whether I'm with a cart or with a boat, I'd rather avoid having to move too much around the map, so mining out every possible piece of copper works best
even if you already found Haldor before starting copper mining you'd still need an average of 3 trips back and forth with only copper ore in your pockets if you want to clear out a vein
I mark every node in an area, and let a Troll friend do some physical therapy on them. π
how does the rock-popping method works anyway i'm sure i've made the boulder float but they still break in pieces
You just have to make sure that whatever youβre trying to pop is completely detached at all sides from any other rocks, trees or the ground and then start popping it
yes i was 100% sure everything was disconnected
but i read on reddit that the ground detection for the rocks extends like 6m away from itself so when it looks detached, if its not far enough its actually still attached is this true
The only logical explanation is somewhere it was too close to the ground or another grounding object, sometimes you just need to make bigger gaps
it is pretty difficult considering the dig limit sometimes tho
considering how big the copper boulder is
Yeah with copper I like to mine as low as I can in a ring around the edge of the node then chip away at it from the bottom
Youβll be lucky to ever pop more than like a third of a copper node
silver is way easier
For sure
discounting the fact that there are drakes spawning nonstop
Automated freeze gland and drake trophy delivery system
The game checks if the invisible box around the piece of deposit Is touching anything that could support it. If it isnt and the piece Is updated (hit with pickaxe for example or if another piece supporting it pops) then it breaks. The problΓ©m Is that the invisible hitboxes are, just like the name suggests, boxes, they have 90Β° corners and have to be able to fit the piece of deposit inside of them completely, which means they have to be quite a bit bigger than the piece you see and can touch. π
Yep π
does the 90Β° corner also corresponds to the cardinal direction? bcs thats how i dig around it, just follow the neat walls
That i am not sure, but i would not be surprised if it did corespond.
i'll agree the heaftier adrenaline trinkets did very very little for me in goblin camps because if i hit 80 adrenaline that's most of the goblins and a berserker dead already, but i'm looking at the clip i posted from the infested mine and i'm constantly pumping out adrenaline filling and refilling my iron brooch, sure it's only 65 adrenaline but i could have easily hit twice that. i trigger it and reapply it before the 30 second buff is over with all the adrenaline. i'm not adrenaline farming, im not even using parry or dodge i'm just hitting and killing. are you creepy crawling through at a snails pace picking 1 mob off at a time and sneaking until you hear another or how are you doing it?
i remember where a node is and wait til i aggro an unarmed troll, lure him there and let him do his down smash move, it gets alll the copper even the deep underground bits
A with troll & B sometimes
isn't a log troll better at this
for me either is fine
Going into mistlands with silver armour, combat set to hard, and a dream, wish me luck gjall π£π£π£π₯π₯π₯
you don't need armor if you don't get hit π
the dark souls methodβ’
For those who play with a group, have you ever encountered someone who just pops in once ever 2 weeks and dissapoears after that? I play with 3 people, but one of them rarely plays. Wondering if it makes sense continuing this way since he dips into the resource pool /makes armor and stuff with new biome resource but then doesnt really stick around to enjoy the game with us
I know a roguelike player when I see one
I already said I was fighting almost nonstop and the issue is with mid game trinkets (iron brooch is from swamps), but It no longer matters because now I have a mod that fixes that, assuming IG won't
Would not be surprised of "adrenaline rate" gets added as a world slider.
Still think it would be cool if blood infused ashlands weapons gived increased adrenaline
Would be better than what they currently do π
Increased adrenaline % gained per hp lost
That would synergize way too well with Health Regen trinket tbh.
I also think people don't realize how dumb op fader power is now π
I do wish healing meads counted as regen and were thereby enhanced by wearing regen buffs.
sev just trynna make the game easier now π
No, because most of the hregen buff equipment is in the "tank" category.
So it goes well together than if you are building to tank hits, your hpots are a bit more powerful.
Would also make Tasty Mead slightly more interesting as it cuts all your regen off π
Rested
One thing ooooooo.
+50% hp regen oooooooo
That's insane
75 hp from a med heal mead turns into 112.5
It would completely nullify any "tank" build
Because that hp mead does all the heavy lifting for you
I can't drink it π
But also "your suggestion sucks because of current numbers" is a mildly dumb counterpoint compared to "I could see that, but they would have to change a few numbers to make it not broken."
it's not a dumb counterpoint
Suggest how you could change the numbers then
If you're suggesting something, then also state all other assumptions / changes you would do
*Mildly
And I'm suggesting a concept of synergy to discuss whether the concept is sound before dealing in numbers.
Because there is no point in doing the numbers work if the concept is dumb.
Knowing how much of each element exactly goes into making nitroglycerin is wasted effort if the concept of blowing stuff up isn't sound.
-# Had to find a way to put it in your language π
rn my language is mass transport phenomena 3, dna analysis and neuromechanics 2 π
π€
god this game is so addictive! my first playthrough going in blind with a buddy. 58hour the last two weeks, we just started farming plains π
Plains best biome!
felt good after getting thru swamp and mountains.
Time for you to go goblin-hunting π
I had my first growth experience too...
πΉ
yeaaah now I know lol aggro'd 4-5 and got slowed to death π
I am almost strictly melee in all things, but Growths.... bow all the way.
I never got past plains so after it will be all new stuff
Mistlands is really good. And pretty.
just the start of the name of the biome doesnt bode well for 'visibility' π©
Oh you will be blind AF π
Beating Yagluth will help, but yeah, the point of the biome is short sight range.
encountering new monsters is always quite the surprise when going in blind lol
Mornin', Me and my friend are thinking of doing a playtrough since we have never finished one after all these years. Anyone got a fun idea for us?
For a challenge
shouldve heard me first time in black forest seeing some Lox near a plains biome or when I first say a Fendring lmao
balrigth inferno
Vegetarian.
Could, since the magic stuff in the late game could go fire
Also adds the playstyle of not being the tankiest player to ever live
Fire hazzards on and only wooden buidings!
ummm
It's a shame that the most beautiful biome is covered in fog
i suggest delete that message
hows magic btw if its only me and my buddy, been rocking a sword and board since the beginning until something interest me
The Ashlands are not covered in fog
Should delete that message because if someone reports that you will probaly get banned since you said your under the age of 13
hows magic
OP AF. Broken. Ridiculously stronger than anything else in the game.
Still haven't beaten the mistlands since the guy i play with goes outs*de too much
oh sweet hahaha wasnt sure if it was more of a 'support/glass canon' build ill defo check it out then! we will probably swim in materials anyways since we overfarm.
The beauty of the ashlands is overshadowed by the trauma they put me through
So how do I find an SEA/Asia server?
Valid.
I cant wait to get scarred by those next biomes lol
It's glass cannon with invulnerability bubble so...
been enjoying the tankiness tho ngl with a shield, my first encounters with new monsters never really go well
those goddamn Stone golems have to be the worse btw haha so tanky
HHS with a buckler to parry everything is a very strong playstyle.
You will encounter worse ones in Mistland and even worse worse one in Ashlands. Perhaps even the worse worst ones in Ashlands.
Mistlands is tank central as the main enemies are resistant to all physical π
Nothing prepares you for your first encounter with a skeleton summoner from the ashlands.
Well, I survived my 3rd landing in Ashlands during the PTB - which at the time had the feel of fighting at the Tarawa atol - so I doubt anything can be worse for now.
its not really their moves its just they were so tanky and we never upgraded our pickaxes for higher dmg, I assume they were weak to that.
They are weak to it but they still die faster to normal weapons.
They're weak to attacks with pickaxes, yes. And the ones with iron maces. Anything else is just throwing water into the sea.
But in Mistlands you will encounter a monster that's basically neutral or resistant to all damages, except for one spot; which is hard to reach.
At the same time, I saw that monster (in a Hard setting game) do 1K dmg on a tar blob from a blob bomb.
Now BEARS.. bears be tanky π
ah damn so im gonna have lots of fun then x) idm learning monsters I just hate it when they take way too long, having to deal with other stuff being attracted too lol
like the first time I killed an abom felt so slow, now not so much.
The problem is the quantity, it is very difficult to combat one Charred Warrior when they spawn all the time
to late
ugh long day at work, I just wanna get back to playing valheim! so we can find that damn yagluth(plains boss) stone
Imagine the fun when a morgen, an Asksvin and a couple of Voltures join that.
Much higher probability you find the boss altar before you find the stone that points to it π
Ill take it then! our first little plains didnt seem to have it tho I think
Kinda similar as finding 8 turnip plants within an hour, with the first one popping up 5 minutes after you harvested your first 3 turnips and replanted them for the seeds.
trying not to look at wiki, maybe its in village or idk haha π
Well, kids really shouldn't be on discord
not without parrents as stated in the ToS
Indeed
learning to fish was such a struggle ngl haha
Much easier to find skyscraping fingers than a tiny red block of stone
oh so its like big stonehendge or something
Giant stone hand like a celestial emergence π
The boss altar itself is just a formation of rocks that look like fingers
Quite big, impossible to miss
And there goes your plan to not look things up in the wiki.
Eventually someone here will give so many clues you will hit that place while being blind folded.
alright so definitelly not in this small biome we found then
Just sail around the edges of the plains, quite a quick find that way
Don't make me and my g's first playthrough mistake where we ended up so desperate we had to find it using commands
we struggled to find bonemass and good swamps early on was so sad
now ofc that we are farming plains I find a swamp nearby with 7 or 8 crypts
Perhaps you'll find the bog witch in them now if you haven't already
im so dumb, i was doing so good and ofc i have to engage against 4 fuling in small building which one was 1star one π
and that's the 2nd death so far π
yeah we got the witch already and like 2 other traders.
trying to check up on the witch after every boss kill I feel like we had more stuff after bonemass or elder
She and Haldor both unlock more stuff as you kill bosses.
Pretty sure it skips bonemass though (for the witch I mean)
Don't remember anything new being included after it
oh ill have to check haldor after yagluth maybe
Ok so I am going to recommend you don't.
Because the new item he sells is also at the bottom of the Sealed Tower that Hildr's sidequest sends you to.
And it is much more satisfying to acquire it by beating the Tower and looting the chest at the bottom than to just buy it for 1000g.
On the topic of vendors, I'm hoping more useful clothing sets get added to Hildir
Define "useful"?
+25 farming
As opposed to a bunch of stupid clothing most players will never touch
Im up for the challenge π
On the topic of vendors, I'm hoping
more usefulBROKEN clothing sets get added to Hildir
FTFY
Sure? I don't consider getting 350 carrots instead of 300 carrots broken but to each their own
hoping the bosses gets harder now, moder was such a letdown plus he was kinda buggy sometimes and wouldnt attack too
Ntm I paid for the clothing too and went out of my way to clear out a randomly generated dungeon so it's not like I got it for free lol
theres some outfit for that really, not that it would change much got so many turnips/onions/carrots.
Skill climbs up relatively fast regardless so it's definitely not a big deal, but yeah there is a set from Hildir
The one and only useful thing to get from her
I don't even bother getting it. I am not wearing zero armor while farming in the plains or Mistlands.
im all about dat bread/lox pie and serpent stew now haha π
I've moved on to rabbit, chicken and salads.
Bread era is my favorite time in Valheim
not there yet but soooon
Yeah fair enough, I usually create protection from deathsquito air raids in the plains, never had much of a problem in the mistlands. I'd love to see +25 crafting or +25 cooking sets added as well too
didnt even know there were rabbit/chicken/salad π but I wouldnt be in this discord if I didnt wanna get spoiled
Fishing too, why not?
I still use bread, etc... when I am not going to0 be in the Mistlands. Save the best for the worst, and all that.
Foods change with every biome.
I did finally find a good school of Anglers last night, so I'll be adding that too.
(Spoiler: There is a food unique to the angler fish.)
we just started fishing now that we are in the plains biome so im trying to figure it all out
Me, who can't eat meat on this run π
Yeah, good luck with parry and blocking.
Oh it's exclusively dodge-rolling because this is the VH version of the veg run.
oh vegetarian run spicy
Which is very doable. My wife doesn't even do either of those. Never has. Just pure savage aggression.
so that means only stam buffs :o?
No dodge rolling either.
SSS until Mistlands and then I have to decide between that or switching to magic.
Magic is the easy route.
First real "issue" of this run is always Mountains.
Because I cannot consume Frost Resist Mead. π
Bloodbag ingredient means no.
seems like a fun challenge, if I ever revisit the game once I got thru it I might replay it now that I know my way around.
There is a lot you can still parry on normal difficulty running this challenge.
But on VH it's exclusively dodging π
If I had to do things like that to make this game interesting, I'd stop playing and move on to the thousands of other games out there.
Oh I didn't do it to make the game any more/less interesting.
I just had the thought one day and am now doing it to see if it can be done π
Of course, I haven't even started using the mods yet, and I will, so I still have tons of playing Valheim to do.
mods do look interesting almost started our game with some but vanilla first run better!
Oh, but it can be done. We all (might) know that βοΈ already did it.
I fully endorse vanilla runs. At least one, anyways.
I will never π€’
its been such a blast so far trying to go as blind as I can.
Just the world changing every time you do a new run has been a lot of fun. To me. Since I like exploring and seeing whats new, etc...
Im usually not much of a fan of exploring by boat and such but damn it is fun π
except when the wind is in the wrong direction big madge
The sailing part can get a bit irritating. There is a huge issue there I wish they would fix.
Pretty sure a line of code saying, essentially, "Any land below X elevation = Ocean" would do it.
But apparently game code gets so complex, its not that simple.
Y is elevation though π
π π So not writing Y instead of X has been the hard part? π π
Yes π
I thought the hardest part was to answer Y Z left X?
Well, whatever makes it so hard to fix, that they haven't done it yet, I hope they figure it out by 1,0.
You can build a ton of campfires, no? π
Only if he brings 5 tonnes of stone and a tonne of wood. π

Add another tonne of wood and he certainly can.
Yeah, I'd plan on using one of the existing cabins or keeps, probably any and all of them, if I were putting such a limitation on myself. Plus you can probably drop a portal fast enough. Unless he is also doing a no portal run.
Might depend if you consider surtling cores and greydwarven eyes as "meat" or not.
π Eyes are usually meat, but with grey dwarves, not so sure.
3h30 left of work then its viiiking time! back to the comfort of the plains.
gives eyes & trophy with both eyes: magic
more like a cold resin, since they emit cold light & make eyescream
Any1 know when deep north might release in pre ish?
Nope, no official info about release date, tho my personal speculation is 2026 π
Alright awesome. Hopefully early 2026:)
That i will not even try to guess π we will see
i cant wait to replay with dn
If you go off of how long it took for ashlands to release, it would be about mid 2026
No guarantee though, never know if they'll take longer or not
yaknow i thought they used to be, but i've tried both recently. the log smash seems to only hit 1 or 2 chunks at a time, whereas the down smash hits everythign all around and deep under
Yeah, bigger AoE π
The unarmed ground slam creates an aoe instance and melee hitbox, the log attack only has a melee hitbox.
and it also seems to hit like a sword when hitting rocks, there are definitely chunks of rock in range and it only hits 1 or 2 things
What do you mean with hit like a sword?
like if something is close in front of you and somehing is further away than that thing but still in range it doesnt hit both
Iβve never noticed that
that good ol wonky sword cleave
I would be interested to see if you can use the AoE to break the deposit completely without doing anything to the ground itself π€
I've noticed. Hitbox of swords is bit wonky.
Yeah the sword doesent always hit everything in its path
it's definitely a thing, also with the 2 hander sadly, not a giant deal but i tested it so hard in ptb when i heard about the 2 hander ninja patch
thats why battleaxe is still aoe KING!!
Having 2 targets for example, if other is too close the hitbox might not register it and miss despite being on range.
i actually think its fun, like a little minigame when using sword i dont want it changed XD
Here are examples, differences between both swords and battleaxes.
i was slightly itching to make some kind of video like this a while back when someone said "2 hand swords cleave now so battleaxes are useless" but never did. someone said "they just have to not be dirctly in front of you" but that's also not true. it HELPS if they're not pressed up against u cuz obviously you're never gonna be spaced evenly if one is against you
Each individual attack has a variable called 'hit through walls' which allows the spherecasts that detect objects to record multiple objects instead of the first one they hit. Battleaxe primary has this enabled, and it's disabled by default so most attacks (including sword and 2hsword primary) have it off.
Now I want to find it for all enemy attacks but that's a lot of work to do
Noticed that too with battleaxes, you can swing at enemies through fortress door or connect the first hit with backstab bonus at seekers through the barriers in infested mines.
it's weird, tree-wielding troll is only effected when hitting copper nodes, they still cleave through any trees fine. i think? but they always hit the player if the player is anywhere in the hitbox cone it's weird. i also noticed recently that skeletons have multi target penalty when hitting crypt doorways. not sure if all mobs have mtp but that makes fighting next to a forest of wooden posts op.
but i swear tree trolls used to cleave through copper nodes like crazy, now i see only 1 or 2 damage numbers when they swing
I've already recorded which attacks have mtp, just not attack through walls
oh really? is it pretty simple which mobs have mtp or not, or is there a video somewhere?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tVySHIiz9NsNpIEWUZ-v9Z_y2Ss_TJxrrq5J7UCwXSA
It's per attack, not per mob
oy, it seems to vary hugely. lol shaman heal has mtp that's so funny. i guess if you're playing on the forest's side that's balanced XD
The heal is applied through a status effect so mtp won't do anything
oh god
golem hit me so hard i went flying down the mountain and died to fall dmg
π
that would be enough valheim for today
some days you're the bat and some days the baseball
wtb deep north
Anyone know what the recent patch added? Im assuming it's the Halloween stuff. I can make a pointy hat that I couldn't make beforw
Unity had a security issue or something
That is very good to know! Up to now I always used the secondary attack on the barriers in infested mines.
ya that was in my last clip goin heeeeeeeeere's johnny in the mines
Thats the kind of stuff I use the sledge hammers for. Plus the poison bombs.
I think ive used my sword special like once, kinda forgot it existed until I had a spear and threw it lol
I rarely use the specials either. Usually too slow, and rarely more useful than plain old savage aggression.
Was wondering sometime if it was worth for woodchopping maybe but eh
Only on stumps from the fir tree. So I try to not even cut down fir trees.
I leave all the stumps lmao can tell when you get close to our base
The secondary attack of battleaxes is a huge exception. Super fast plus knockback. Highly recommended.
They count as instances, so since I have been playing for 4 years, so back when instances were a huge problem, I get rid of all the stumps.
2 hand sword special is amazing to initiate or poke
Soon im out of work and we go slay some fuling villages:D
1 hand axe special has no multi target penalty, my strat is chop the tree, then as it's falling use special to hit both the tree and the stump at the same time
Hoping we unlock some cool new trinket still using my old brooch or something with hp regen
Still my most favorite thing to do in Valheim. Fuling villages. They need to do more things like fuling villages.
Ill give it a go we just ran out of finewood again
I thought they would signal the whole village when u attack
I've been finding the trinkets to be mostly useless. My fights rarely last long enough.
hehe, cool. yeah any time you can jump on top of or position to hit multiple things i think i math'd it once it's more efficient
should be a warhorn in the camp if a goblin reaches they all aggro XD
Aaaah makes sense they all slowly came in pack of 4 5 ish
I just run into the village. It usually aggros all of them, except when you get a really large village.
Wanted to take things slow first time π fuling pretty easy to deal with it's just about not being overwhelmed ig
Yeah, it takes practice. Plus the knock back on tower shields is a huge help with crowd control.
Been using round shield since beginning well now the silver one
Knock back sounds dope tho
I use tower shields because you can get killed screwing up on a parry, and I hate dying. It takes a lot to earn back all those lost skill points.
Been rewarding to learn parry timings
Deep north when?
Yeah, parry works only against one enemy at a time too.
pretty sure you're wrong, as I've parried a couple enemies together many times already
That's when I start to struggle yeah im good 1v1 or 1v2
Some time in 2026 or 2027. Bets are middle to end of 2026. Never anything official until they give a release date, though.
unless you meant that it's a technique best used against single enemies
I never got enemies to attack me at the same time from the same direction, so I didn't know it was even possible.
Bruh, iron gate -rep
the parry window is relatively big as well, which is why you can time it differently to block different attacks
as long as the animations are (presumably) below 100-150ms delay, you can parry both with a single parry
Did they change parry? The window was never very big back when I even used parry.
I'm used to games with parry windows much smaller than Valheim's
maybe it's not big, but it's definitely bigger than what I'm used to on souls games
Huh, well I stopped using parry because of how often I died due to missing the timing, so...
Guys do you knows other games like Valhein or similar
I'd say Valheim is one of a kind
Enshrouded feels very similar to me.
ASKA, Emperion Galactic Survival, Enshrouded are a couple.
Enshrouded gave me really... weird vibes tbh
I want to buy Aska and dragon wilds RuneScape
Been looking at Aska, I also got the new Lord of the Rings survival game. Haven't played it yet.
I have so many games to play, that I already own, I don't buy anything until its discounted 50% or more, or is under $20. Whichever comes first.
ASKA isn't just survival, but also village management. So be prepared to deal with a lot of NPC's.
You also need to deal with irregular invasions and one regular one. Both increasing in strength and early game they can be a real PitA.
But the one at day 18 is fun for sure. I've had it a few times and I bearly survived.
Emperion Galactic Survival, game have in steam ?
yup. And on a discount, I think.
Idk I don't see
I haven't tried much in it, but it's more a space survival game in which you are on a planet, but eventually can move into space as well.
Can be played in solo and MP.
.
Not coming up with my search, with this spelling: Emperion Galactic Survival
ASKA just sounds like a search engine name π
"ASKAway, because we have the answer!"
What about enshrouded they have boss, bioms, different mobs and physics?
Was a small typo in the name.
Sorry for that.
Thank you
Yeah, your link worked, so its all good.
π π π I already own it.
Probably got it via Humble Bundle Monthly. so didn't remember getting it.
I want Subnautica 2 so bad, because it's peak, but this game released in 2026π₯²
2026? So your from the future?
Oh sorry will be
π
I'm from another country and it's not my own language, and I still learning English
Thats another game I have owned for years, and have yet to get around to playing. My pile of shame is hundreds of games deep.
Your doing as well as, if not better than, many native speakers, so...
You talk about Subnautica 1?
Yep.
Oh I already finished this game
I should have.
my side-survival game when my buddy is not on to host has been Raft lately.
Own that too. Haven't played it either.
Do not play this Game
been a blast but I gotta get thru all of valheim first before really putting in time! think I played like 60hours of valheim past week or two lol
I get addicted to games I like. I end up putting thousands of hours into them. So I never get around to playing tons of other games.
You start addicted from this game you play like 5-6 hours in a day
I'm retired. So when I first played Valheim 4 years ago, I was putting 10+ hours per day into playing it.
I know because my friend playing
there`s no urgency to play it, so no addiction; just will to do whatever you do.
Bro you play alone? π
online mmos get you once in high levels, must siege castle at xyz time, be there or kick
About 50% of the time. Fortunately my wife loves this game too. So she plays, once she gets off work.
How old are you?
Be 60 within a year.
I played when it launched and then spiraled into depression and never got past the plains, now im back where I was full force!
wish my dad would play games like this with me
Me? No. I'm 100% serious.
You mean you 60 years old?
he does play videogames but he only plays cod against bots
My dad is in his 80's, and in bad health. I'm just glad he is still around.
My grandfather was a Pac-Man speed runner in the 80s
Within a year, yes. We old people played games while you were still a baby.
So you Mr Robert or how?
Correction, we old people created the game when he was still a baby.
That too.
In your country it's normal or just you play like this?
You old too?
Its abnormal to even be able to retire, let alone at 53, like I did. But thats largely due to my wife and her job too.
wdym 60 is young!
Not you asking if he's the only 60 year old gamer in the country π
If you consider 56 as old, yes, I am.
Personally I see myself as an 18 year old in the body of a 56 y/o.
And occasionally others do the same, given the comments once in a while that I should grow up.
The big thing is being retired. None of my friends are. They are all working when they shouldn't be.
I am ready to retire at 33 hehe
Bro in my country it's a Shok because people in over 40 not playing games or just not chill in Discord they doesn't no about discord
My wife would be retired too, if she wasn't work from home, and able to sit in a heated, massaging, reclined chair all day as well.
Her back is a mess.
That's rough, my wife has spine inflammation and is only just finding proper medication for it.
They are working very hard, I think your life is amazing
I know the struggles. β
Get well soon
Even with medication, its still a struggle. Like she can get so bad she will drag her left leg. So we are fortunate that she has the job she does, plus she loves being able to help the people she gets to help.
That's really valiant of her.
I call it being super stubborn, but yeah, I frequently call her "Wonder Woman".
If she like help to other, she can do donation or charity, not use energy of her body
But your wife Strong Woman
We do that too, when we can. Just her job is processing claims for our fellow Veterans (We are both Veterans, I'm Navy, she is Army), for their service related disability issues. So she gets to seriously change lives for them.
I hope that everything will be fine with her.
She should be. We both get good medical care. Better than 95% of Americans do.
Yep
sick, do they respawn at the cave? just found one xd
Yeah, they should respawn afaik π
Freeeeeeeeee now to the plaiiins we gooo
I wish I could go to the plains, but up for now it's the Mountains and the hunt for the elusive Fenring trophy.
Yeah, thats worse than the golem, since they only show up at night.
Cultists can be even worse, even though I often get them among the first I kill.
Why?
I did get the wraith today, but even that one has taken me multiple sessions before a trophy dropped.
While in my other game I had the wraith, abomination and Draugr elite spawn within minutes. Not to mention the usual Karve load of skelly, leech and oozer trophies.
Hunt for the Fenring trophy?
Because I want to collect the tropies of all monsters there currently are in the game.
Just like I like to collect the wooden weapons.
I want to ask one of the devs about world seeds, and how they determined the process of world gen and seed titles. How does the seed title influence the world gen, and deep dive into the logic of deciding how to make the influence of the logical underpinnings. π Is this the right spot to ask?
Only one dev even regularly chats here, and he doesn't do the coding.
π₯Ί dagum
Do they ever do Reddit ama?
I'm lucky to even keep the one ooze trophy I do have, my wife loves making all the various poisons, and the one that needs that trophy is among her favorites.
I got the meadows, black forest and swamp completed now.
Still miss the Fenring and the Fuling beserker to complete mountains and plains.
Mistlands will be bad again when looking for the seeker soldier trophy, as those are quite hard to get.
Hello everyone, I'd like to increase the weight of my inventory via G-Portal. I've already installed Valheim Plus, but I can't find the setting in G-Portal. Can someone please help me?
Folks in #mods-discussion might be able to help π
oh sorry, thx
No worries π
They even help with mods, just not sure how thorough that is. I haven't used them for close to two years.
small problem, i have not played in 3 months and i forgot what is the point of mead and what good food to have for swamp area
Meads are pretty self explanatory once you get the recipe.
Most people like poison resistance, for an example.
As for foods, depends on your play style, but generally more HP is good for parry and blocking.
i remember something with honey i also remember needing to replant more than harvesting? god its been so long
Carrots from the BF, then the one you find in the swamps.
Then another you only find in chests in the mountains.
Hopefully you remember the plains, and how that works.
I'm quite certain a lot will come back the moment the game is being played.
How do you get blueberries again?
I don't know, I forget things all the time. Like do you know how long it took for me to remember springs? Sure, I took over a year off, but still...
The seed sets the state of random number generation functions used within world generation, such as determining where locations are placed. Those RNG functions are part of the Unity engine, the developers here did not create them.
mushrooms too
Those you find in clusters. I mark them on my map until I can go get full stacks.
Except the yellow mushrooms, Those regen in the tombs and crypts.
you don't plant them?
Nope.
normal mushrooms and blue berries i just go and look for
When I find clusters of 7+ items that can't be planted, I'll mark them and enclose them with fencing, then link them into a portal chain I can use to get back home. Like this: Home -> First Berry Patch -> Second Berry Patch -> Return Home Portal
Blueberries, my precious.
uhhh are Loxes part of the swamp biome?
are they new?
Nope.
They either wandered over or there is a tiny plains inside your swamp that is spawning them.
Yeah, Lox are not new, but other mobs are new. IE added since 4 years ago. Some just a few weeks ago. π π π
why the hell do they 1 tap me from full health??
What's your food?
Lox? Because they are a lot tougher than swamp mobs. Well, except one swamp mob.
ok so ignore them entirely until i beat swamps
If you're only at swamp level, lox are 2 biomes ahead of you so they hurt.
Probably best to do that, yeah, but you can beat them now, It just takes a lot, since they have a lot of HP.
i figured
Use them to bully everything that bothers you in the swamp
Like I go into the plains in bronze gear, kill the green guys easy enough, but the Lox, they take a bit of doing.
i forgot what the hell do i even do in the swamps
Use the key the Elder dropped, mostly.
Progress. If you're lucky you might find Shrek too
She isn't that pretty.
oh yeah i have that key where do i use that?
Crypts.
-Palpatine Voice-
IRON! UN-LIMITED IROOOOOON!
At least the broomstick is (on my wall)
Mistlands is far better for iron. Especially in bar form.
why is there a spider tree π
Oh, they are so much fun. Make a great armor set too.
My wife uses it all the way into the Ashlands. So much for being weak to fire...
Well why do you think? It lives there
Its a "new" monster, if you haven't played this for a long time.
One of the lame parts of the swamp for me. The music is probably the first place from the biome
Oooohhh! A lot of events will be new to them as welll. π π π
if a swamp doesnt have a crypt i just go look for a new one?
Yup.
Yeah, rounder swamps are much more likely to have crypts. Narrow ones are far less likely.
You can scavenge it first to look for the bog witch or the vegvisir, then move on as well if it's small
You can get lucky and find mud piles. Still kind of rare to find. Only get a max of 8 or 9 iron out of them.
When half of the pile isn't under too much water.
But its how I get the stone cutter before I beat the Elder.
i can grab iron from swamps?
Preferably the crypts, yeah, but there are also the mud piles, and oozer drops.
mud piles have iron?
Yep. 8 to 9 of them.
Outside of the crypts.
Usually closer to 6.
Easiest to spot when they have that skull on top of it.
Easiest to find once you have Bonemass' drop. Of course.
ok i think i have the gameplay cycle back i can play again
Red mushrooms are also in swamps. Just hard to spot due to the darkness. I believe its the only food item across 3 biomes.
new goal is to get iron from there ill figure it out, i now remember most important stuff
i already set up bases and ships with tons of resources
Yeah, most of it comes back to you.
didnt know i planned that far ahead but hey im not complaining
Planning ahead is a good thing to do in Valheim.
Like I definitely always carry iron for a stonecutter.
Do I need to find 5 more totems to respawn yagluth if I wanted too?
ye
i need surtling cores, do resting crypts in the black forrest spawn them even if i cleared them before?
also what does thistle do?
Can the Jotun bane be used in the ashlands if I upgrade it thoroughly?
how strong are bears? i have troll armour + bronze equipment
ok they take no damage im not finding out howmuch damage they deal
Many enemies there are immune to poison, which is a bad damage type even against neutral enemies because you lose damage for hitting an already poisoned enemy, and then on top of that it's a 1h axe which is a weak weapon type.
They are resistant to pierce and blunt, try an axe or sword. They're balanced to be fought with meadows equipment and food.
If they were meant to be fought with stronger stuff they would be in swamps
If you fight them with torches they wonβt attack you
But that can also slow the fight because they try to move away
Eh I can see it being a good strat for a new player
Try to parry some of its attacks and get good damage in, if get hit and low on hp pull out torch
It's also just handy to have in the scenario a troll and bear gang up on ya
Spear + torch and just focus down troll while bear afks
Wow! Just switched over to Valheim after playing Megabonk for a few hours... I need to do something in between next time - movement feels so weird now
Troll is like "Come ON dude! Help me out here, this guy is slippery!"
I went for a sail. When I wanted to go south and east, the wind blew southeast. When I wanted to go north and west, the wind blew northwest. This has never happened before. It will probably never happen again.
what is it I hear about spiders?
they seem to be pretty powerful, but won't follow you for too long, they seem about as powerful as trolls id say?
they just resist pierce damage, you have to use sword or axe vs them, you can parry their lunge attack with lvl 2 wooden shield
This will happen at least once every 1000 days, potentially even more often depending on how much you go sailing haha
hi all what makes this game unique / different from ensrhouded or dragonwilds runescape
π currently the ocean / diffrent from enshrouded
what does tbhis mean?
every time im in a different world what about my progression and / or base?
see general chat please
Love the Drakkar! Now this is a boat!
sail in a zig-zag, or use Moder's power
Now the Vile trophy is being a pain for us. Apparently its needed for the head piece, so of course we can't get it. My wife wants to upgrade to it from the Root armor (Which is saying something, she usually wears it into the Ashlands). I've lost count of how many nights we have ran the plains killing Viles.
At least her two other pieces are maxxed out.

Yeah, we have killed a few dozen so far. Not even seeing that many each night. Think the best was 3.
Wish we get spiral plane floors like the dvergr one but floor
its soooo annoying that crops have a variance in growth time of almost 15 minutes even when planted at same time
It's an "up to" limit because they have % chance to advance per tick.
It's not a guaranteed difference in time.
its a PITA when waiting for those first few turnips to grow
And you really notice it only when you first grow something.
After that it becomes irrelevant based on the size of the field you plant.
Hey guys, I bought the game today and Iβm having a hard time knowing what to do
Did you listen to the bird?
Same
yea keep the raven hints on, figuring out the game by yourself is the best experience you can ever have
I don't think you can turn the birds off? You can just be less than smart and not read what they say.
less than smart is SMRT
lowkey wants more roof options
Anyone wanna play for a lil?
Hugin can be turned off in the options
yiss the bird is a bit annoying but he does explain in baby steps everything as you go
oof
Yeah, no I am understanding what the bird says. Iβm assuming I need heads to summon the boss. Bases on the fact that they are trophies apparently and the bench needs offerings
Also the fact that there is a deer statue In front of it
So what's the question?
Odd way to spell kill.
I use a bow from afar
Or sneak.
Or use spear.
How to craft spear wtf
Get flint.
I have 100 flint 500 stones 500 woods
Wood, flint and leather scraps.
I been just farming π
Then go to your workbench?
Oh it showed up now ty
Also there is a rock by my base and how can I break it itβs pmo
big rocks are currently unbreakable until u kill the first boss
the flint spear is unironically the best weapon for u to have now, you can even throw it and retrieve it quickly for repeated use
and for hunting deer, the thrown spear can one shot them as long as you've upgraded it to level 2
Okay bet
The first boss feels so hard π₯²
Um... this may not be the game for you...
No.
if you see any abandoned houses, go to it and check the inside for bee hives
All bosses die faster in melee.
I have so much bee stuff what is it for
shit fr?
Yes bro i have been playing for 8 hours straight im not kidding
they're for making bee hives to farm honey
honey is one of the best food material all the way to late game
Oh also how to get oak and birch
stronger axe
which is softlocked by the first boss
π€
