Wow... I accidentally left the game running overnight, unpaused, and I wake up to find my character half in water on the edge of the sea, but otherwise completely healthy and untouched all night irl in the mistlands
the character will slowly slide if you are on uneven ground
or your friends pushes you around for shits and giggle
I checked it on computer last night without ad blocker. Top 30% of screen was always on top ad. Then the top of every page was a fandom video to scroll past. Plus a bunch of others.

I think Valheim is the only game I've touched in the past 3 years still using fandom as the official wiki. All the others have moved away.
As long as you don't subscribe to that site they bomb you with more ads as there's information on the wiki.

The only angry green dudes that are a problem for me are the ones that had too many steroids and the psychics throwing fireballs at me.
Sweet, it's one of those days. Found a swamp with one crypt in it. Entered the crypt aaaand two out of three passages were closed at the entrance, the third had an empty hall ending in another dead end. Not a single scrap pile. Whoop! I know it happens, but the very first crypt being this bad... argh!
Only worse one I ever saw had three cave ins at the entrance. Gave one yellow mushroom iirc.
Worst one I had was having a chamber with a spawner in it, without anything blocking the entrance to the chamber. And the two other passages caved in.
Guess what spawned the moment I entered?

I know very well what the meaning of "being hit before you even saw it coming" means, as that was an insta death.
Had to craft bronze armor and a skellie shield to get close enough to the bugger to kill him. My "only" luck, I had so much copper and tin, I had started to craft a bronze sword for the "arsenal" I intend to build at all my bases. So I kinda had good enough equipment to deal with damage.
Was the only time I used bronze armor and a tower shield. After that, never again. For obvious reasons.

Those archers are menaces. I raided a draugr village the other night that had a little squad of four of those guys, one of them a one-star, that were rushing around the island slaughtering anything that moved. Deer, necks, boars, greys... Managed to pick them off one by one while they were distracted by wildlife.
Raiding those villages with fire arrows and fire hazards enabled was a very viking-feeling thing btw
Just that squad that escaped, guess they shot out the wall. All the others and their spawners burned. Hah!

Fulings wave their arm with a shield as their "idle-stance".
Hit them with a poison arrow or Draugr fang and they do that while the poison cloud is still around them.
Sort of giving the impression they're waving the poison cloud away.
Oooh, both the bog witch and Hildir popped up so close to each other that their symbols overlap on the map. Way too much plains around there for my taste though, don't have the I-Win harnesk yet

spiderwebs were very early-alpha versions of swamp biome.
The spiderwebs were in mistlands placeholder π but the ancient trees were also there as they are in swamp

I sailed through the whole map back then to see what it all looked like, the ashlands turned my whole map red when I went there and the north was empty.

Giant spiders are a bit meh tbh, the seekers in Mistlands are pretty unique for Valheim, not to mention the ticks and their noisy mum
Iβm an arachnophobic, but if the game had something to actually put me on edge I would have paid double.
Until I got comfortable in ML, I was constantly in dread of that foghorn.
The ticks fill me with almost painful revulsion. They're the most disgusting game mob I've ever seen - they're great. I love to hate them!
Ugh I forgot that serpents are actually not harmless when all you have is a karve, finewood bow and regular arrows. Second one almost sank me

honestly, you don't need anything from serpents until you hit swamp anyway, so wait for the huntsman bow.
Unrested too and low on stamina, just standing there waiting for stamina to regenerate while it chewed on the boat was a bit nerve wracking
it made me very sad when they locked serpent stew behind the iron cooking station.
I've been rationing my iron because I didn't want to have to go mine more for a while now, entirely forgetting that I already have hundreds of unsmelted iron just waiting to be processed

In my Ashlands game I have a few reinforced chests full, but the speed at which they deplete when building grand things is phenomenal
when I was making one of my favorite building projects to date, a giant tower that reached up as high as I could manage (went from sea level, had snow on its tip), I used sooo many stacks of iron
many more than 36 stacks I'm sure
the walls had to be lined with iron supports every other segment to keep it up

followed by smelters requiring you to feed everything piece by piece
that's kinda the point of mistlands, and they're designed around it.
there's higher PoI density, so while you explore slower, it takes less movement to find interesting places.
also, enemies can't see through the mist either. they can hear you, but won't aggro until they can see you
Wisplight works fine.
Unless you're sprinting all the time because it does need time to catch up with you.
I love the wisplight and the mistlands
utility items not stacking, like you can't wear the belt and wisplight at once
in fact I often don't even use the wisplight because wandering through the fog is fun

moder power only lasting for 5 minutes
I don't mind the inventory as is, it forces choices on the player's part which is a good thing. But I do agree that in the latter parts of the game the "need-to-have" stuff tends to clog up most of the inventory. I wouldn't lose sleep over the devs adding equipment slots to free up some some space, but nor will I ragequit if they don't. And it is certainly not something important enough to mod.

The wind has ~75% chance to be facing a direction you can use to go the way you want. The wind is also random. Combine that with being able to use moder power 25% of the time and on average you'll be just fine
many things are probably less of an issue when playing multiplayer
I mean look all I'm saying is if you wanna mod I don't think anybody's saying you shouldn't, but you shouldn't put down people who enjoy the vanilla experience just cause you don't like it as much

Thing with Moder's power is that it only helps you getting from one place to another. When off ship you have no use for it whatsoever. I prefer paddling now and then to not having Bonemass or something else useful at hand when I need it. Never used Moder's power so much as once...
I basically only main bonemass and eiktyr early on
slow boats and no teleporting metals used to be my biggest gripe with the game but I've been playing with standard portal rules recently and I'm enjoying myself. I've learned to not collect more metal than I need, and by not making metal armor throughout the playthrough as well my demand for it has been low enough that I'm not constantly travelling in search of it
i use eikthyr until i get bonemass, then i never switch again

well they're meant to be used during a specific task. I've found them to be long enough most of the time, except maybe in boss fights or lots of travel

It's a design decision of course, but since they're on the same cooldown the powers could very well be made available at any time once you have made the sacrifice. All it would mean is the less combat oriented powers would see more use.

Since I have no idea if this conversation was even a follow on to what I posted a little earlier, which was, "OK, its official, my wife and I are both NOT a fan of the Ashlands. This is going to be nothing but a long, tedious, ugly, slog." I haven't even died. My wife has, but I expect that. She is reckless. Ashlands is simply a big "miss" with us. We have yet to find anything to like about it. Since its nothing like previous biomes, there isn't anything even aesthetically pleasing about it. Its pure ugly. Which I guess was he intent, but the only thing fun about this biome is the challenges, the fighting.
Yeah, well such things do tend to be individualized. We hate the aesthetics, we hate the storms.
Its purely unpleasant to even be there. Even just sailing in.
Which I imagine was their goal, we are told to expect "war", and that is usually hell, so... they succeeded in that regard. Its hell alright.
You might start to like it if you find the gems, as they will enhance gameplay a bit.
Same could be said about magic, but since you don't want to use that, I don't think you'll notice any difference.

I'm not finding the combat to be a problem. At least not yet. We have not fought everything yet.
I thought the sailing in there was the best part. The violent storm, the music, the monsters attacking the boat as I was desperately trying to steer that heavy-ass barge through the spike maze, and then finding a spot of shore I could lay to without getting slaughtered. It was awesome. After that the constant fighting can get exhausting, which is the reason I've paused my Ashlands run and am currently on a no-portals run on a new world.
I found all those spires to just be an exercise in frustration, plus the noise of the storms gave both of us a headache.
The most important thing with Ashlands is to take your time.
You may find some Dvergr outposts, use those to your own advantage as the moment the Dvergr are gone, you can get some nice resources for a good quickstart.
Same with moving forward and exploring, take your time.
There's two of you, making it easier to have one fighting and one doing other things.
One of the most important things to do is destroying the "Standing Stones" as that will make your life a lot easier.
And keep a bow ready, as you may need it to deal with some monsters.
Once you manage to get to a fortress, your life will become a bit easier; as it's quite a solid place to turn into a base.
Is sound even important in Ahslands? I might just turn it off.
Yeah, we went in slow. Its why I haven't died yet. My wife was just being her usual reckless self. So she died a few times.
The only major gripe I have with Ashlands is that the terrain has a little too many "holes" in it, untextured gaps exposing the void beyond. Those are a bit distracting and I hope they'll get fixed before 1.0.
ITs a good thing I didn't die, or we would have been one of those nightmare landing stories I read on here. Gear lost, have to sail all the way back in, etc...
Haven't seen any such glitches in other biomes, except when a whole section has not loaded due to disk lag, but they'd go away just by relogging. Ashlands gaps are part of terrain generation it seems.
I hadn't seen those gaps yet, but we are barely even in the Ashlands
They're fairly common on flat ground parts, I see them here and there. I bring a hoe along to cover them up when I see them...
Just in case that does happen; do you have an outpost at the most southern part of the Mistlands?
If not, build one close to the water, so you can craft another Drakar again in case it's needed.
Yeah, We pretty much do that every time we enter the new biomes for our first time. I will set up as fortified of a point as we currently can in the Ashlands as well. While we "learn" the biome. We even have the shield mats with us.

Well, there are enough fires (Lava puddles) you can pull her out from in the Ashlands.
Yeah, but I wasn't able to get to her. So she died. She only died due to fighting once. The rest was environmental. Like those exploding red rocks.
Next time, use a bow on those.
As well on the lava blobs.
If you're able to craft a new type of bomb, bring those, they're very useful.
I've still not died once to mobs in Ashlands. Several times to falling off flametal spires into the lava though. You don't have a lot of time to get out of the lava...
We were doing it out while we were still on the water. So while I figured out a bow would explode it, we didn't recover anythiing. So she kept doing it up close and personal, even though I said we should wait until we run into them on solid land.
It will remove part of the rock it's on; giving you either stone or Grausten.
I really hope you're at full health, potions and inventory space the moment she charges into a putrid hole. Because you're going to need it.

I use my first copper node pit as my garden until I get my base up to standards. Much easier to defend a big hole in the ground.
And you can wave to the spawned troll through the window every morning.
Good idea! I usually just level the ground out a bit with a hoe and sow some grass to make it less of an eyesore, but making a garden pit is a lovely idea

Queen's lair invites guerilla tactics. Rush in, throw some bombs, hack a few times, run and hide. Repeat!

I run into weird camera interactions around the front door area. Every where else its been fine.
Camera shenanigans are usually zoom / terrain collision related, 99% of the time you can snap out of it by zooming in close to the character.
Same goes for any game like this, some handle it worse than others, and imo Valheim is one of the better ones
I'm usually zoomed in when I fight the Queen. Can't see worth a crap anyways. So maybe that is why I have not experienced getting "stuck", as of yet. I've had moments where it seemed like I might have gotten "stuck", but only a moment or two.
Yeah, camera issues are mostly a 3rd person perspective issue. If something gets between you and the camera, crazy things can happen depending on how well the game handles that. Zoom in close enough to the character you avoid the issue.
Well, now I have another reason to stay zoomed in as much as possible.

Weird. I have two iron racks on the left (I cook at the end)m cauldron on the right hand corner, then the new mead thing down from the cauldron, on the same side. All on a hearth. I did this within the last two months.

Arigh, so I thought it might be the walls or whateve in my building interfering so I moved outside. Same thing on an empty patch of ground. There is no way to place a cauldron so it aligns with a cooking station and any part collides. Will require each kitchen to have three hearths from now on...
I keep the wood racks on my original camp fires.
Technically that is how mine now is. My original camp fires counting as a "hearth", then two new hearths, but I am able to put the two iron racks, cauldron, and mead station all on one hearth. Or at least I was able to, if something has changed recently.

Getting it through has been reminding me of those old bumper car rides I used to ride as a kid.
As a vessel whose hull is crafted of some kind of petrified shell, it is logical that the Drakkar is heavy and slow to steer. BUT - just how sluggish it acts is something I as a sailor myself just can't get to grips with. It responds slower to rudder input than a fully loaded 1000-foot oil tanker... Yeah, you can argue that a steering oar is not a rudder but fact remains that with vessels of these moderate sizes the boat should remain fairly manouverable even if heavy in the water. I'd be okay with it being slightly slower to steer than the long ship, but the way it is... gods. It is pretty much just floating storage that happens to be ashlands-seas proof...
Don't forget you can use it as Noah's ark as well. Capable to transport a Lox if you like.
I never tried. What happens if you get jumped by a serpent, the lox will likely not sit calmly and ride it out, no?
Its not shell, though. We use the shell to turn black marble into whatever this thing is made of. As a ex Navy person myself, and private boat owner, yeah, the maneuverability of this thing bothers me on many levels. π π

lfg means looking for group. so its not like its plain as day to find.
What helped me deal with the fire damage was getting myself wet. That way it diminished the burning effect, dealing much less damage than it would have during the whole burning effect. That was on my hard preset run I mean.
Water is often so close to Yag I have wondered if this particular use of water is why the Devs have it close to water. Most of the time.
I'll have to keep that in mind.
Although in my case there wasn't water nearby.
And the nearest portal was near Hildir - yes, that's the only luck I had with that location - so running to that portal, jumping to the hub, leaving the area under the Elder Altar, getting into the water and getting back might have taken more than 2 minutes.
"Tailing" him and hitting him with a silver sword did work, although I got that weapon down to 48%.
The lack of stamina was actually the worst thing.
Never had Yag anywhere near water. But I've had him with several tar pits around, which sure made things interesting..
Get into tar and weak against fire. 
He has almost always been near water, And a village, and Tar pits. This last time the water was a river that literally ran up to his altar. Plus a tar pit on the other side of that, then a village. Usually an interesting fight all around.
I have a seed where one of his altars is on a peninsula and surrounded for at least 50% by water.
Yag is a proper boss fight, that he is. Only sometimes circumstance makes it a more epic boss fight than we might be prepared for...

I always clear the fight area, so wipe out the village, clear the tar pit, or pits, spawn suppress, put my evac portal under the altar, etc...
Yag and the Queen are the ones I dislike the most.
Yag because of his fire and meteor attacks, the Queen for all the minions she spawns.
Haven't done Fader yet, but not looking forward to him based upon what I've read so far.
But on the other hand, if I'm able to use a vine staff, it may actually be easier as I thought. So we'll see.

So far I dislike the Queen the most. I have yet to fight Fader, either. So I am sure he will go to the top of my least favorite list once I do.

Queen fight was cool, but so different to before that she took some adapting. But by using her lair's layout to my advantage I actually found her easier to defeat than Yaggy. Not in a standup fight mind you, I did a lot of hiding behind pillars and guerilla attacks...

I don't even have to leave the area, just do a 360 and mobs respawn.

I'm in the swamp now. I just got here and I'm already nearly full on blood sacks and entrails cause the leechs and draugrs never end. I kill them, turn around, and then there's more just right where I killed them a moment ago
You don't need to kill every enemy, unless you're trying to build in that area or are preparing for something
If this were any other game, I'd expect the amount of killing I've done to "clear" an area, at least for a bit lol
If your frustration is that you're trying to build, put down some base structures like workbenches and campfires. The presence of those builds suppresses spawns.

there are corpse piles and skeleton spawners in the Swamp all over, you'll run into those quite frequently
I always found swamp to be pretty tame compared to dark forest and mountain though

like theres a lot of enemies in the swamp but they're easy to outmaneuver

Yep there was! In case u dont know, page up and down keys does the work
It went fine in terms of surviving and finding mats, etc... turning down the volume did prevent us from getting headaches again. We have also figured out most of the enemies we have faced, except the Morgen (sp?). That thing is so erratic, its hard to figure out how to melee it. We did spot a concerning enemy that looks like a spell caster, and its a 2 star. So we stayed away from that one for now. So while we are figuring out all the various challenges and how to deal with them, we still are not fans of the aesthetics. So we will deal with it, but we are not fans of the Ashlands. It will never be a biome we look forward to getting to. We will regret that it is time to go there.
If you're not parrying (since I know you like tower shields), try to move to the morgen's side when they use their swipe attacks and hit their legs or back. They can't turn during any of those four attacks and the hitboxes only cover a 60 degree angle in front of them, so their sides are safe to stand at. The double swipe attacks just leave them vulnerable for longer.

What are the new traders, Hildir and the Bogwitch good for? I havent played the game since the mistlands update
Hildir gives you access to some new clothing, mostly cosmetic except for the farming outfit. The bog witch has a bunch of ingredients for new meads.
Both sell something that's quite useful for farming.
Hildir sells clothing you can either wear for looks at your home base - barely no armor - but which will also give stamina reduction.
She also has some fancy items you can use and one other useful item, which can't be teleported.
The Bogwitch sells a potion and ingredients for very useful potions; i.e. one related to taming; as well as ingredients you can use in feasts.
And feasts are food items with a longer duration, but at the "cost" of having an equal amount of health and stamina. And I believe one with health and eitr as well.
Much better explanation than I gave.
The Bogwitch sounds a bit more useful tbh if Hildir just sells cosmetics
the farming outfit is really beneficial. It gives a big increase in farming skill.
Well, if you're a collectionist (like me) and are drowning in gold coins (like about everyone at some point), buying all clothing Hildir has and putting it on display is a nice thing to do.
Other than that, the most "useful" item she gives is actually her quest. Because that'll give you the opportunity to get 4 trophies and copies of her chests you can put on display in your base. Even after you turned in the other ones, as turning in more than one of each chest doesn't change anything she has for sale.
In addition to Thorin's reply, Hildir also sells barber kit which unlocks a buildable barber table you can switch hair and beard styles in, it also contains some new styles not available in character creation. Also fireworks, which you can craft into different colored ones too.

I find when farming, either for loot or literal farming, it really helps to have a youtube video on in the background.

the plant staff is op but kinda boring since the roots do everything for you, kind of like summoner class in terraria

Frost staff, staff of protection and staff of the wild are really the only good staffs, staff of embers is okay in mistlands but honestly doesn't do the dmg I thought it would, staff of fracturing does most of its dmg hitting enemy directly making its aoe attack pretty useless especially in ashlands, dead raiser might be good with lvl 100 blood magic but rn its useless af unless I'm mining copper and they keep greylings off me, troll staff not to viable unless ur fighting fader, magic needs a huge overhaul tbh

And honestly frost staff sucks too unless ur comfortable getting close and personal (which i do) but than that kinda defeats purpose of using magic
the way I usually play the trollstaff is out of the game I do not go EES or EEH I usually go EHS and thus I never have enough eitr to summon trolls π
So 3 good magic weapons maybe 4 if u can use frost staff safely

I am perfectly fine with the magic staffs there are... playing mixed character they have worked nice for me
Playing mixed has been screwing me with inventory space
I now carry 2-3 magic weapons on me at all times I might grab a fire staff if traveling to a previous biome

was never a problem for me. I really have no complaints about the inventory space... only time it gets tedious if you want to move bases and have to move huge amout of stuff... they should implement a moving truck or something π
Idk the more I use magic the more I realize it doesn't do the dmg it should and you cant really keep a distance and do loads of dmg at the same time which is why there is magic it doesn't make sense to me

well. I was told yesterday that enemies DON'T spawn on the player. Yet using devcommands has proven that to be false. I can use the "killenemies" command which will kill 15 enemies in this location, not move, use it again, and another 15 enemies will die. I really feel like this proves beyond a doubt that the enemies spawn on the player
constantly. elminate what's around, and another gaggle does spawn on you
this is too much info on a guy that spends 80% time afking in my world
Enemies can spawn on the player, Iβve had it happen many times, especially if you delete a crafting table you can often get an instant spawn in your face

Depends if you start a whole new world or if you want to play on one you already have. If you want to continue to play on already existing one then go to the save manager in-game, select the world you want to play in and press "move to local" button, then the button will change to "move to cloud" and you press that too. That will make a copy of the world as it is now and save it in worlds_local folder in your local disc.

True. I was wondering if the amount of health I have to lose first for a decent damage buff would be worth it.
Calculated chance to hit and damage added by iolite as like a 14% damage increase.
I would need to be missing 70 health to match that math with bloodstone
which isn't a distressing amount but it's not nothing either.
Well, at least bloodstone effect is not based on RNG.

Ok on my last run I was running into the mobs that drop the ancient seeds regularly, on this run, I've only ever seen ancient seeds drop like twice, but the regular mobs that drop the eyes spawn incessently, is this just a world seed thing?
