I was using hashtag to comment into a pseudo code block, without knowing that was a forbidden character

Yup, you're correct
The problem is... I retried to post "a couple" of times, without fixing the correct issue
Yes, you have the No Suggestions role.
Maybe all those tries raised a notification for mods
Not usually how you get that role, no. But just send a DM to @ModMail and check.
So they just muted me. I'd have done the same lol😂
Allright😎👍
Better than pinging admin...
Built Ferd Tough.
And I ain't an admin either 😅
Don't need to be
Fine, whatever you call yourself.
I hate cheaters that cheat blatantly. It’s day 2 of a new server, if you don’t wanna be caught then be more low-key about it. You used 3 forests worth of wood and never left the house. All that terrain modification… good thing the host backed up last night. 🤦♂️
Valheim's anticheat is powered by neural networks.
The neural networks that play the game, that is.
Cheaters that cheat discretely are even worse
Don't play with people you don't know or trust.
you can't tell me what to do, you aren't my real dad
🤷♂️ Up to you, just makes for a better experience.
If you think of the soft cap as the number of same tames within certain distance, I think many players are bypassing that.
It's hard to accidentally bypass though. If players are choosing to bypass it because they want that many tames, why stop them?
That's why it's called a soft cap not a hard cap...
Not stopping them. Informing them of the potential consequences to the game performance.
It could be a vanilla code-based cap that I was not aware of.
They should be able to comprehend the cap is there for a reason...
Of course it's vanilla.
Im not thinking of the distance cap
Was anyone?
There are bunch of players complaining about the low performance / optimalization of the game, and have huge bases, lots of fire/lights, farms as large as a country, and number of animals that would envy any 3rd world country.
No shit. Always have been.
Thats why I asked Smiffe
Yes?
And?
The pain this conversation is causing.
I have no idea, you're the one commenting on my reply to Smiffe
If you have no idea why you're saying something how are we supposed to?
Oh, I know, and Smiffe know, that's why I replied to his comment
The one answering your question?
He hasn't replied to my statement.
Was this not his reply?
The feathered cape just increases the fun factor of Valheim soooo much... at least in the Mistlands and the mountains.
be wary that it is VERY weak to fire, which you may find to be a huge detriment in the near future (or when fighting Gjall)
Fortunately we have a drink to help with that 😉
Barley wine overrides the weakness so you will be resistant while wearing the cape
Oh, I know the risks. Been there, done that... kind of thing.
I just would rather be careful not to take too much fall damage than waste the inventory slot carrying fire resist
I'm really good at avoiding the Gjalls aim in addition to the wine.
It's not just to avoid fall damage, you can jump further and keep yourself safe longer when dodging with a jump
The run and jump skills are the real life savers in Valheim.
I'm a parry extroadinaire, failing that I do the dodge-roll
Jumping is usually better than rolling
I would say that's your perspective, I get immunity during the roll - and I don't during the jump
Better stamina usage-wise
Jumping costs less stamina, doesn't lock your movement and allows you to perform another animation while safe from damage. It can also be used to avoid slowing yourself during animations such as attacking, drinking/eating and using your forsaken power.
Yeah, I stopped using both of those years ago. The game is easy enough just utilizing run, jump and wall shields. I didn't want it to be even easier.
With feather cape jumping might even keep you safe for longer against lower attacks. I'm not 100% sure about that though, I haven't tested it.
It makes it easier to break away and get to a better terrain situation, etc... especially in the Mistlands.
You can jump over enemies but not roll through them
rolling INTO them is very useful in the case of trolls and abominations though
I need to get better at the timing with the soldiers, but yeah, that helps too.
I actually do better with the soldiers without the cape, but that is probably due to simply having much more practice without a cape available. 😄
not my problem tho. we have a soft-cap, and that's for a reason
I've stopped wolf breeding ever since you guys introduced the Hunt. I only needed to breed them when I ran server groups. For just my wife and I, or my solo runs, the Hunt provides plenty of meat. Like we have nearly 2 full wood chests right now, all due to Hunts.
Well, mostly. We still run into wolves when we go into the mountains.
Bro I never get hunted 😭
Ive got hunted ONCE in the entirety of my 120~ hours
Yeah, we had a long dry spell this play through, where we almost did start breeding. Then they started occurring often enough.
Lol I got almost purely ghost raids until we killed moder and the only one after that has been a swamp
My wife and I usually get close to 40 of them per hunt, if not over 40. So the Hunt keeps us well supplied. Especially now that we only make the Mountain Feast.
I pretty much just tame wolves to have some life at my base. They’re nice to keep around. They provide a little defense as well, of course. When they die, I just store the hide for decor and incinerate the meat/trophies.
You know what else provides defence? Loxes.
And necks are nice to keep around
I personally use battleaxe for defense
Necks?
Lol me and my friend usually use mountain, sea and either meadows or black forest feasts for most of our diet
The chickens are providing plenty of life at our bases, currently. Don't need anything else. I haven't even repopulated our boar after the bats killed them. Not that we need them anymore either.
Hm I actually never had chickens but apparently we find them in sealed towers and were exploring one tomorrow so waiting for that
We use plains and sea feasts now. along with whichever we want between a good HP or stamina food. When we are not in the Mistlands. We use our best foods, then.
Mhm
Welp lets see when we find this damn yagluth
What are plains feasts made of
I assume lox but what else
Sailing is usually the best way to find him. We did find a wall first, this time.
Lox is the primary, yeah.
Only 3 stacks? We keep a full wood chest. Lox are also great to kill for increasing your skills.
Loll but well we never have focused killing loxes theyre just in the way of exploration sometimes
Yeah, we have an insane amount of barley flour.
We roam the plains primarily for two things now. Needles and lox meat. We have so much black metal my wife now puts it into our Obliterator. Pretty sure those do not become coal. 😄 We just already have a full iron, black metal, and wood chest. So no pressing need, at all.
Yall just have a ton of everything
We have no iron and 3 stacks of smelted black metal
Yeah, we are good at stock piling mats. We do both have over a 1,000 hours in this game. I have over 4,000 due to solo play and running servers.
Thats insane, we have like 120~ each rn
Ive only been away for like a couple of weeks and my god looking at my bases feels like its not real, how did I even make this
Lol
I played Valheim pretty much non stop for the first year. Helps that I have been retired since before the release of Valheim.
I have the opposite of my base like it sucks so much but I love it anyway
We don't know how to build high we don't know how to build with stone we sure as hell don't know how to make cool looking roofs
Heh, when I visit my first world, and see how horrible I used to be at building....
Lol
The best looking thing weve created is a silly little 2 pen sort of stable for loxes next to our base
The only thing we have used tar for
I don't bother with huge builds anymore. I just build what we need.
Yeah
We basically only build small
Our base area is smaller than some peoples docks
I enjoy the base building in this game you have full freedom to do what building styles you like
Its all you need. I just did the huge stuff to learn, and they were cool.
you can stick to the true viking style and make viking longhouses
or make your own style
My biggest teacher was tearing down and rebuilding those draugr villages you can find in the meadows.
Also I like the town aesthetic but...
you play solo, I feel ya
Other players taught me a lot as well.
Nah I play with a friend
Oh you defintely learn alot just by looking at others buildings/creations
But like its so much more difficult than expanding the base
I don't like looking at #building-screenshots coz of the stuff there 😭
It was to the point where I was visiting their worlds. Edna is probably my biggest/most influential teacher, but Winter was as well.
Then there was Larsi, and others.
If you dont mind I'd like to sponsor my base's kitchen ty very much :3 #building-screenshots message
Winter is now one of the Helpers. She has gone so far... 😄
Bro my face when seeing that was literally 😮
Visualizing other peoples works really is the best way of learning
and even better if they help you
Yeah, they were all a huge help in my learning.
I could never, our kitchen is a small space partly under our smelting area with a small chest area and one of everything needed
My main base is still far from completion but I still have another project to make
If you could atleast keep the kitchen organized you'll are set
I mean it is
Its really fast to use
the most important thing about bases are organization and centralization
and a neck pond
I just make sure there are a lot of neck spawning near my base. Same with fish.
Yeah, our base has everything connected to the (forgorword)
With have neck at home
And a largeish chest and portal room
the asksvin
I have yet to do much learning with the Ashlands. I intend on changing that with this play through. I also have to decide how feasible attempting a zero death run will be once they finish Valheim. I'm starting to think my getting just to the Queen was my last one. The odds are just getting too long on being possible.
Also do yall only have functional areas or also some extra places
I'm all about just what we need anymore.
You'll be needing extra bases later on but making a full on base is not needed just making an area for processing materials
I mean in your base is it only functional rooms or do you have other extra unneeded spaces
Coz we have a second floor that only has beds and a throne room with armor sets starting from bronze
But first floor is only functional
I haven't even made a Mistlands base this time. Just took over Dvergr tower, and I don't even really use it for anything other than a safe spot for a portal. Our Mistlands farms are on Plains borders. So we grow crops and get all the hare that the squittos, Lox and fulings kill for us.
We use plant everything coz we wanted berries so none of that for us
Also we don't have any mob farms
Yeah, I haven't done any this time either.
Would have liked a surtling one but we never found their spawn
So were surviving off of dungeon surtling cores
I mainly have a 2 story house with like 6 rooms 3 on each floor
Yeah, we have the 2 on top and 5 on bottom
Oh, yeah, we have done 4 or 5 surtling spawners. I forget those count, since we no longer kill them. 😄
Lol
first floor is the kitchen, dining room, and crafting area, second floor is bedroom armory, and the storage room is located 2nd floor but only accesable through the crafting area via staircase
I would be on my knees for multiple surtling spawners
I just do two floors, both completely open. Just designated areas for the various benches.
First floor for us is: kitchen, chest room, mead room, portal room and the lobby that you use to get to the second floor
It was harder to find swamps that even had them this time, let alone 2. I don't think we have a single swamp with 3 or more this time.
I would kill for even a single one we barely can afford portals anymore :(
We like to fully explore our worlds, so we do have the option of clearing out tons of Black Forest tombs, but spawners do make it a lot easier. Even though they drop far fewer cores now as well. Its a good run if I get one or two per spawner. We nearly had a party the time I got 4 at one spot. Get a trophy? Party time!
but just the appearance of the padded armor is so nice
I that why I said that too many can impact performance, IF they was bypassing the soft cap, unknowing of the consequenses.
I like all the armors for one reason or another. I like the bronze just because of how goofy it looks.
The root armor because it just looks wicked.
My bonemass swamp has 3 within a short distance from each other. It was very nice lol, but i haven't found a 4th spawn on the map yet
Yeah, I have had very surtling rich swamps in previous worlds. They just seem much harder to find in the new world.
28* tamed wolves in 1 base running around lmfao, they tryna climb each other to get over the walls whenever hostile mobs are nearby
28 starred? That's a beefy boy.
Sounds about right. When I do breed the wolves, I no longer have them inside our base, I put them in their own pen close enough to still breed, but far enough away to not be a pain.
It was surprising to "see" just how far away that is.
it's pretty effective if you live on a large island
and just let your 2 star wolfs run around and kill all boar and deer
so much free stuff
Your nightly skeletons do that for me already.
Now I have the fulings helping too.
Plus we build close to a Black Forest. So now the fulings are helping a LOT with getting a lot of those mats.
Should i talk about our plains farm along the border of a swamp, and how much those extra fulings help there as well?
Goblins are so very helpful when given proper direction.
For those of you with wolf meat shortages, beat Yag and have a base in the mountains. Spend your nights there. The fulings will kill a lot for you there as well.
@near furnace What is a soft cap?
Why are we pinging devs at 2am?
It's 8am
Not for Smiffe.
I assumed people would have notifications muted if they're resting.
A soft cap is basically a developer putting some sort of restriction on progression, typical as a deterrent to progress until a particular challenge is overcome.
The bosses are more or less soft locks; challenges to overcome before moving on to the next biome.
Thank you. 🙂 Why is a soft cap in relation to animals breeding mentioned? Do you know, please?
I'm thinking maybe they mean the breeding limit within a certain size area?
No problem! Could you elaborate a little? Like, are you asking why they limit the breeding of tames in a given area?
I was reading people discussing having a load of wolves at their base, then someone commented it will cause issues in the game, someone else spoke of soft caps. It was a little confusing.
Oh no, not this conversation again. It was bad enough last time.
I've often tamed and bred a couple dozen wolves and I hadn't noticed any issues. I want to understand the situation.
If you've never had an issue, it's not massively important. There's a maximum number of mobs you can have in a zone but you can exceed it if you try hard enough.
Why is the maximum put there?
For the reason that was mentioned at the beginning of the conversation 🤦♂️
Obviously I've missed some bits. Please explain.
You did, it was a conversation you weren't involved in. About 8 hours ago.
Too many of anything will cause performance issues.
Thank you. That's all I was wanting to know. So, a soft cap is also to prevent performance issues. Got it.
On this specific occasion, yes.
Sometimes it can be for balancing issues.
TMD was talking about soft locks which are actually different things.
I find coding and game dev interesting but I'm very uninformed. I enjoy finding out some basic things.
I know so many people suggest ideas to add into games but I know that it's often never as simple as it sounds.
Ah, I get that now.
My bad, I was talking about a different term (like Derek said, a soft lock)
Can I please ask another silly question - this time about gameplay. Why are some people saying they always want a neck pond near their base? I use neck meat early game and for wolf taming, but not much else.
Because they are kawaii.
Good point
I think that's just a meme to be honest. That and they're kinda cute.
People just think they’re cute/cool, they’re kinda iconic to Valheim too. Some might call them the mascot of Valheim.
#building-screenshots message @vocal rivet I might be wrong, but are those beams at inaccessible angles maybe? 🤔
And lox for the cuddles
Or perhaps the chains?
Because we love having necks around the base

Other vikings might stop halfway along the playthrough but the necks are always there for you
And trying to bite your ankles
Chains make me raise an eyebrow but it coudl be vanilla with some dev commands
And stability
Look at the angles of those beams in the background
🕵️
ye
Just try not to have too much of them
Yeah, be careful of having… you know…
Too much dog…
You think I can hack Valheim onto my phone and cast to a TV? Doubt it but my phone has 11GB RAM compared to my 4GB Laptop lol.
I’m no expert, but I’m doubtful 😂
I am doubtful too, plus that is out of any area of knowledge I have. Want to build a new PC? Sure, I can help. Doing something on the software side of it? Not nearly so helpful.
are you on console?
😔 no buffs + no skills fader kickin my ass really don't think it's doable
was at 25% for 10 minutes just competing with his passive regen
Brutal 😭
suprised we ddidnt get a july dev update, was hoping to see a new hervor bloodtooth video
Honestly i'm glad there wasn't
Brings me physical pain seeing someone using the worst mistlands weapon in the final biome
No blogs in July. Vacation time.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the element of fun goes way up with the feathered cape. Kudos to whomever came up with the idea.
To chop wood, which it's the best at currently.
Now that's not even true
Berserker axes are better
And if multiple targets use special on berserker axes or crystal battle axe
That's a different class and is less flexible where chopping wood is concerned imo
No, berserker axes have no problem chopping wood and are OBJECTIVELY better
I wouldn't use them for chopping wood personally, I like to have a parry option, especially around ranged enemies
That's why I mentioned flexibility
If you're talking flexibility berserker axes still win
Better weapon and better tree chopper
And you can parry with berserker axes on normal just fine
You can disagree all you like, it doesn't really matter, saying it's the worst mistlands weapon when it's still the 2nd best axe for chopping wood given your opinion is still strange.
Saying it's the worst mistlands weapon, but it's still the 2nd best for chopping wood(what it's used for in the teaser) is strange to me.
There's a difference between a weapon and a tool
And show me the exact place where she used it as a tree chopper please
Okay so why did you classify it as a weapon if you're adamant it's being used as a tool.
I want the source on where she used it as a tool
Berserker axes are still a better wood cutting tool
So it's still an incredibly odd choice
It's really not, utilizing 1h axes is a grandfathered in option, it's just easier to pull out a shield with it to deal with larger hits, especially on harder difficulties
Nah
It's just what the game's presented the player for every biomes until Ashlands
I myself am very experienced with valheims combat mechanics, and I associate myself with others who are also very good at the game, and not a single one of us would ever agree that that statement is true
@light snow
Yikes alright chief don't need the resume
Big dog you're making a statement about combat mechanics that's just untrue
Crystal battleaxe superior for chopping trees with no hit penalty, no?
Just letting you know a different perspective and attempt suggesting that there's maybe another reason they're carrying it in the teaser.
And you're presenting information that's just wrong and assuming that it's a fact
What? I linked you the video and told you that players are liekly more comfortable with a 1h axe, what is untrue?
It's really not, utilizing 1h axes is a grandfathered in option, it's just easier to pull out a shield with it to deal with larger hits, especially on harder difficulties
You really aren't so good at taking opinions.
Black metal axe is fine in mists, replace with bzrk axes later, jotun bane doesnt really achieve anything other axes dont already do. Imo its a waste of mats. And poison dmg is awful for ashlands hence its a weak mistlands wep.
Your opinions are based on misinformation
But you're also the guy that doesn't know what a comparison is so idk why i'm bothering
What? Where's the other 2h axes, and was the video I linked fake?
Again, this
To be honest on higher difficulties you shouldnt be pulling out a shield at all, you arent blocking or parrying shite on vhard
Or even hard mode ashlands for that matter
Everything does 200-300dmg
I don't know how complicated it could be to understand that not everything is approached from an overarching meta sense, some players just use what's comfortable, and familiar.
But then don't make comments about it working on a harder difficulty when it very clearly doesn't
You can do whatever you want im providing an opinion
The axe choosen for the video is 99% for looks 😅
I was using that in the pulling out a shield example.
There ya go, asthetics are king.
And 1% chance. The character came with that axe already when it was used previously somewhere 😅
Which doesn't work on the harder difficulties and you cited that it did "It's really not, utilizing 1h axes is a grandfathered in option, it's just easier to pull out a shield with it to deal with larger hits, especially on harder difficulties"
I dont think he plays on very hard
Harder difficulties is speaking broadly, the immediate jump to what isn't possible to prove a point is tiresome.
Being humble is tricky sometimes when you build yourself up I suppose.
Well as i said hardmode is pretty sketch for blocking on higher biomes anyway
It's egotistical to state a fact and then provide your sources for it ig 😎 🤙
No ones building anything up im stating opinions backed by factual information and figures
So what exactly do you mean by harder difficulties then, if not hard and very hard?
I do mean hard and very hard, there are certainly enemies that can be blocked, but you're definitely just citing ones that can't be.
You mean boars and greydwarves? Or enemies relevant to jotuns bane?
That was just in reference to the laundry list of qualifications I got earlier after presenting some reasons why players might opt into using the 1h option.
Laundry list
Night spawns can very, and being able to pull a shield is just a comforting option for players used to having it.
An additional 10 chop damage isn't worth that trade.
Lox, seekers, ashlands mobs all impossible to block can only be parried by carapace buckler lvl 3 with high health
On very hard
Right, but there are varying situations, if I'm collecting wood around my base and a bundle of skeletons hears me hitting trees and two loose arrows, it will be handy to have my shield at the ready. It gets so silly to speak to Scales when the only situation they simulate is some self important speed run.
????
Berserker axes would just be objectively better in that scenario
and whenever i'm talking about balance or w/e, I do not think about my playstyle or any challenge run that I do
You just hammer down on what's objectively better immediately, and don't hear out any reasoning beyond that.
There he goes again. 😂
What's wrong with facts?
Why would you parry/block skeletons when you have mistlands gear
You can do what you like idc but facts are facts
What players enjoy using is also relatively factual.
Not at all it's subjective
"What players enjoy" is inherently subjective, because enjoyment is a feeling or preference, and that varies from person to person.
It's also subjective, but the point Im making is that players know for a fact what they would prefer to use and why.
Objective statistics play little role in that.
On Very Hard they can catch you chopping wood outside your base while utilizing lower tier food so as not to waste the good food.
That can still do some decent damage, enough for a stray enemy with some real power to take advantage of.
I like how we shifted the goalposts from chopping wood in the deep north to chopping wood in the meadows
The example was to help you see why utilizing a flexibile and familiar option is choice in some situations, and carries through.
Doesn't carry through on the harder difficulties though 🙃
You're just failing to see that, I'm likely wasting my time.
Swap to the tower shield bro 😎
Better yet have 50 wolves around you while farming wood
Again, if you're just rocking around with some berries and mushrooms to stay economic, night spawns can still do some damage, especially in higher difficulties.
Just eat cooked seeker meat / feasts for economic options??
Yea feasts by design are literally made for base activities idk
Why would you run around on 2 berries at night on vhard
Because I'm comfortable with a shield and 1h axe and can easily handle it.
Id be more afraid of night fulings 1 tapping you
That's just it, you hear that little giggle and get ready to parry a thrown spear.
Ur like the guy thatd refuse a business class upgrade if it was offered at 99 cents
Nothing too tricky about wanting a 1h and shield option for that situation.
Aren't night spawn fulings quiet anyways? They spawn alerted immediately
I mean, why wouldn't you stretch the limits of what's necessary if you're comfortable.
lol
what is going on
is this a talk about cutting trees?
Just explaining how 2h berserker axes aren't automatically a better option for players because they're statistically better.
Chopping wood is part of that discussion.
1h axes are utilized throughout the game, and offer flexibility with shielding, that's my take.
I realized years ago to not discuss/debate play styles. My goal has always been to never die. Since I still die even on standard, I haven't even considered changing difficulties. Sure, I have solo'd all the way to the Queen without dying, but I have also played this game with dozens, if not a over a hundred, other people. So I know I do not play much like everyone else. No one has a set of "best practices" like I do, etc... So I literally do not care much about what other people do or think, to be blunt about it. I do it all my way. When you get down to it, that is how everyone plays. Their way. However they decide "that" is. So I just say my piece, and move on.
Good night.
(Its nearly 1 AM for me.)
Well I learned today that I should be using mushrooms and berries for base activities rather than feasts
ey that's fair.
i don't care about axes so i'd probably just swap off of them to my other weapon when combat ensues unless it's a mob that i could just dominate, so flexibility don't matter much to me. for statistics tho i would probably rid of my jotun bane for a berserkir axe
it's been so long since i've touched berserkir axes. when i get back up to them i can't wait to enjoy the euphoria
why
Because I'm comfortable with a shield and 1h axe and can easily handle it.
that's cool i suppose
Cheers, thanks for the refreshing understanding of another point of view. 🤘
i only just dabbled with feasts so idk about efficiency but feasts last for a while and im semi lazy
I use berries and mushrooms mostly because a parameter for a main base spot I follow is to encapsulate large patches of berries and mushrooms nearby eachother.
So I'm typically overflowing with them passively.
idk how mushrooms spawn so i use 'em if i have like more than 20
Yea and using 2 or three food slots to accomplish what 1 food slot can do is hip and cool
I don't carry them around, I have stockpile barrels positioned around each gate and at some choice watchtowers outside my bases.
that and since it lasts for a while it takes longer for its stat to wear down over time.
you will be drawn out longer out of your peak performance tho but i think a drawn out line is better than burst spikes
but with enough stamina it doesn't matter anyways lol
I agree, but in the case of 15m foods, the replenish option to refresh peak stats is virtually always present.
Peak stats of like 70 hp and 100 stam 😎
the real secret to tree farming is using trolls 💪
Haters gonna hate I guess.
Ah, it seems like you are.
this is just a simple agree to disagree and move on
Scales isn't so good at that, they even brought up our last disagreement. 😅
...to the new meta of tree farming. which is trolls
Best to just move along.
The real best axe, a staff.
i was thinkin' a regular troll, but the staff of axe cutting is probably something that could happen in-game universe
i wonder if there's an axe that worked like a shovel
where you just thrust poke till the tree falls. probably some magic voo-doo nonsense could wrk there
Oh, I almost spoiled something potentially.
naw ik what ur talkin' about, but tbh i think trolls are tired of mining copper ores and want something new
Oh okay good I was worried
soon there shall be some troll lumbering business
Not a terrible idea, it's a shame all they want is that cave life
Collect shiny, and return to hole in ground
i've always found it cute how in the higher biomes trolls just about tickle you cuz of obv high armor and such
would be funny if trolls did a % of ur health as damage to make them live up to their scary size lol
They should operate like the hulk, and their damage increases slowly if they aren't hitting above 20 damage
bullying a troll until they're steaming from anger and actually start doing damage
She chopped wood in 4th video.
Ye he pointed that out
there's gotta be steam coming out the ear
Crashing out late from night sleep. 😅
Dyrnwyn reminder

old or new?
New
It’s a reminder of 10 fire dmg (current dyrnwyn) vs 15 fire dmg (torch)
But I do prefer old
10 fire dmg would be fine IMO if the new Dyrnwyn had some special fiery effect that could proc when hitting enemies, similarly to jade/iolite variant weapons.
Jade weapons have additional 10 poison and iolite weapons have 10 lightning.
Dyrnwyn following the same pattern, thus having 10 fire damage.
But I wouldn't mind if it was changed to have same total damage, but more fire damage and less slash.
Fiery AoE wave similar to the fire attack of Brenna would be pretty cool.
2 months no news? Am i missing something?
The developers took a break last month
Probably at one point on August we get the next Word from devs blog post, follow https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 channel so you get the notification when it happens.
1 month and its because devs were on vacation, so not much to talk about 🙂
- we never had any guarantee that every month will have devblog/word from the devs.
No iron gate just does nothing
Iron Gate is made of regular human beings that like most of people go on vacation in summer.
I understand the game is so good people can mistake them for semi-godly-beings, but nope, good old flesh and bones
I do think they were trying to make a joke 🙂
But what Vinny said is true 😄
Oh i apologize in that case 🙏🏽(actual mean comments about that happen quite often so i thought it was serious)
He is a sneaky little guy
I need an ingame alert that screams "ROCKY" every half hour
Just set few alarms on your phone 😄
Might not be a bad idea
Yeh i don't like turning off grass (just for esthetics) so it's quite hard for me
(found a couple on a dedicated search run with grass off)
I watched an interesting video about where to look that will hopefully be useful. I'm not in a rush. I just get distracted easily.
I don't want to turn grass off. The scenery is too beautiful.
I found both in black forest, and both under something (bushes, small trees)
I remember it's a slightly larger rock, in forest, not as low as the ocean.
Yep, higher than 5m above the sea level and lower than 20m, has to be further than 1000m from world center and your best bet are meadows and black forest 🙂
Yup has a minimum height of 5 meters above sea, big smoother, lighter in colour (a pinch darker than flint) and vaguely triangular shape
Hey did YOU make that video?!
Nope 😄 i dont make videos
it can also technically be in swamp and mountains, but usually the height requirement prevents that
Yup, oh ofc it has to be an unexplored area (or explored after the April update)
Not sure if I was the first but I shared this information on the day rocky released. I didn’t make the video though.
I think you were the first to share it, at least here on discord anyway 😄
Yup, remember that day very well (also thanks to haldor's and deer king sillyness)
I just had a Troll help me kill a Lox lol, Troll got destroyed.
The grass cannot be turned off anymore, just having less grass nowadays with the lowest setting.
Still helps searching 😄
Yup regular trolls hardly stand a chance agains the big furries
It does, I still keep it at the lowest.
Gave me the extra dps I needed, cause that Lox half shot me at first
Yeh, i did it once just for rocky, it ruins bf looks too much 🏞️
Ah well.
You can post in screenshot and link that in your message here
I can't be bothered 😄 But I'm happy I have my lil buddy now. A step up from Wilson
Nice work.
ty. Now to get him home and settled in. I'm glad it didn't take too long.
You realise that EAT server tag gets me thinking of food stuffs every time I notice it.
JOIN US
one of us, one of us, one of us
Just so happens there's some dark choc right next to me
That'll do the trick.
Pity there's no chocolate in Valheim
What biome would it be introduced you think?
I hope Mountains/Deep North since I like to keep my chocolate in the fridge.
Deep North will have to be it but technically it might grow well in plains maybe?
Warm weather
Oh so you'd have to grow the cacao.
Wait - Bog Hag
Yeah that grandma defo has a chocolate stash.

@hexed kite #memes-and-clips message sorry for ping but can't reply on media channel, i'm following the Queen thing with much interest and i have a theoury myself, could the actual eyes be the blue-grayish ones? bigger, further back on the head and under the "brow" ridge, basically where the fangs generate? just a thought i will surely enjoy your rendition anyway.
Just found a natural maypole for the first time

Sick
in how many hours?
I can't get an exact amount because I had a lot of hours on xbox before I bought Valheim on steam and some games don't show playtime there. I have 447 hours on steam and probably somewhere between 400-600 hours on xbox based on the day count of my worlds there.
They are pretty rare. I think the most I have ever seen a world have is 7? Not one of my worlds, but another world posted about in these forums. I think it was one of Edna's worlds.
Now the question is, have you found more natural
s or maypoles?
I haven’t found rocky yet
He is not easy. It is just a slightly different looking rock.
He is one smooth rock.

Most of my rocks I've found in black forest, one was in meadows.
Dumb question, buuut, are we getting a whole animation line of valheim in style of the release trailers?
I mean they look awesome and it would be a really cool mini series :)
I assume there will likely be animated trailer for deep north as there was one for each mistlands and ashlands. 🙂
I think so too, but i mean a whole series would be beautyful, where we follow the way of the 3 adventurers
I dont think there will be anything like that, and we have no info that would indicate otherwise 🤔
1st Infested mine in my current world and I can hear Queen's voices.
Like through the walls? 👀
Yes.
Welp, no vegvisir needed it seems 😄
Yeah, went outside and the entrance is straight away in sight.
Hugin now has a merchant hint when you hit the BF?
I think it was added when Hildir patch came.
Don't recall Hugin hinting about Haldor before.
Ah, you might be correct, i was misremembering 😄
I misremember things too.
yeah it cant have been at lauch, I logged into my 2020 character and it was the only hugin I got in meadows + BF
I would have swear i got some hint about Haldor before Hildir update but i can see that this Hugin line was added around the same time Hildir was 🙂
Probably just my memory playing tricks on me again
Any hint for starters? I just opened the game for the first time
When we are on that topic, listen to the bird :D, also pick everything and try to always have all 3 food slots filled, also its good for it to be different types of food (for example 2 health foods and 1 stamina food or the other way around)🙂
Alright, thank you!
i everyone hopeyou are all well 🙂 Am i to late to star valeim? Many Thanks
There is no way to be "late" 😄
for solo play it's never late, but if you're talking about playing with people or friends it's rough now. I guess the 1.0 release will change that (for a few months) again when it comes.
I dont think playing with friends would be in any way affected by the date/time, you can always convince them since they are your friends. Only playing with random people which is usually meh anyway... 🙂
" you can always convince them"
Oh boy, if only that were true
Might have said "...try to convince them" xD
due to the long term way the game works it's strictly BYOG to play together.
Nah I’m happy for the ping, it’s a shame there’s no discussion in the media channels but I get it.
That’s a good theory, and now I have MORE options, lol. this illustration has been all consuming during my free time, we’ll see how it turns out! I haven’t done a piece this big in years 😅
Sadly, the only person that I know Who owns the game is my uncle, but I'm playing through his game using steam family
yo nice! definitely looking forward to see that! and thanks for your fanart in general 🎨
damn my nephew aint getting access to my library
I appreciate the engagement! It’s been pretty fun tbh. I should consider posting my art online at some point though, I’m such a hermit
I’ve also been keeping an eye on your stuff, it’s really neat!
Depends on how long it takes you to beat the first biome "boss". Remember to listen to the bird, and refer to the log.
Is a flint axe enough for the boss?
Among other things. You want to learn the best foods you can make for the biome. Armor helps, shields can help as well.
Best piece of advice? Do not rush. Take your time. Your only new to this once.
So enjoy it as much as possible the first time.
frr
I'm trying to find more boars
I would suggest to build up your character properly, then go after the next boss. Its better to spend a few hours to level up the character, then to die a bunch of times in a boss-fight, loosing twice the hours worth of level. That you have to grind for all over again.
They tend to spawn in the same areas, so remember where you find them, same for deer. You can tame boars, so when you find a starred boar, tame it.
Boar are the only thing you can tame early in the game.
Also, touch everything, and make everything at least once.
Thank you for the tips guys 🔥
Have fun.
I'll play more later, I'm going to a family dinner(the uncle that gave me the game will be there, I'll talk to him about it)
Especially the grass.
hi, anyone know why the devs have been so quiet since june?
they have summer vacation
July is usually the "vacation month" in Nordic countries where people have opportunity to take 4 week leave for vacation, which means that we didn't get Word from devs blog post during July, but very likely we might get the next during August.
i forgot its only august still😂
It just started my friend 😆
Already August.
@merry pebble , @tacit crystal You folks remember things? 😮
-# sorry, couldn't resist
And who are you? 🤔
-# ||Hehe 😛 ||
Well.....
(I should shout this, but better not, I think)
**I'm Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror, King under the Mountain.
I have returned!**
Somehow I think that quote should be better in a game called ValDale or Daleheim, I think.
🤔
do you know bilbo swaggins?
shut up @whole silo
I do know Hammy the Boar, the Princess of the Dawn, the Man on the Silver Mountain and some War Pigs. Does that count?
Bilbo Swaggins could melt the One Ring by rubbing two ice cubes together.
I play on a server where qol mods are allowed but I don't know any trusted sites to download them from and what ones I can get without everyone on the server also needing to get it
Any help appreciated
I think the best place to ask for that is in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
@chilly tusk Indeed it was wrong channel since it included modded content so you were correct, hence I removed it 😉
-# Unless you have a green, red, or purple name you cant embed stuff 😉
What did you remove? 🤔
A screenshot of Hrothgars screenshot where i showed the symmetry 🙂
Ahh gotcha!
On a side note, it’s about that time isn’t it? 👀 || 🧙♀️ ||
Hmm?
You’re usually asleep around this time, but we’ve been referring to this time specifically as the Valheim witching hour
...
Aaaah, gotcha 😄
whispers
You've shown nothing, Asatru Snow.
If that building were symmetrical, it'd look the exact same from every side, not just two. 😉
That is not how symmetry works 😉
When building is concerned, it actually is.
There are at least 2 lines of symmetry there
Only two lines of symmetry on a six sided building.
All sides should be proportioned identically in order for the building to be considered symmetrical.
😉
I don’t know, seems pretty symmetrical to me 🤔
Well, if you want to believe that i will not try to explain anymore 😄
Yeah, you really shouldn't bother since you don't know what you're talking about.
It doesn’t look symmetrical in the image. I’m loading into the game right now to check
Just look at it in a bit of an angle 🙂
Oh wait, maybe I’m seeing it now? It’s kinda hard to make out lol
Oh the sweet irony 😄
Twisting my phone in all directions trying to see this thing
the back and the front of the building being mirrored doesn't make it symmetrical in a 3d sense.
Yeah
It’s symmetrical, but it’s not circular-ish… if that makes sense lol. It’s like a Diamond I think. Or a rupee.
What's ironic is that you think you're telling me something lol
It is NOT symmetrical. Stop arguing with me.
Dvergrtown
i am here to complain that i cant make my private server with the boys password free
Just use 12345 or something 🤔
i just deleted the entire password string and it defaulted to secret
which is ez enuf, but wish it had no pw
Use Kev1n
@plush vessel
No one will ever guess it
why are there so many kevin's here LOL
fr. whou's only come here to complain
why is hammer 2 handed so i cant be cool and hold lantern while i build
shield + hammer = peaceful building
The whole password "thingy" is added to prevent the Devs being accused of having grievers at a server a player started. Which would happen if the server was unprotected.
Meaning, the password should only be given to those you trust.
If you don't want that, use a very simple password and the problem is solved.
But the consequences are your own responsibilty.
You wouldnt be able to use either shield or hammer 😄
Nah, just hammer away with your shield. Problem solved.
You block so hard it builds a workbench? 😄
LOL
im lazy though
Nope, the shield is the workbench.
O
Really digs at me there this one other ‘TooMuchDog’ on this server, like what are they chances lol
Lol, there really is one more xD
So now there are TooMuchDog(g)s here.
He’s only said 1 thing 👀
yo guys quick question, can i plant any plant in the plains or just barley and flax
dvergr structures are symmetrical. I could’ve taken your word for it but it would’ve stayed in my head forever if I didn’t check. The 6 sided one seems to have some walls at angles not achievable by the build hammer so that was probably why it looked off in the screenshot
Also everything from before plains 🙂
ok thank you so much
It is simply smushed hexagon 🙂 but Hrothgar seems to think that only perfect hexagons are symmetrical
Symmetrical doesn’t necessarily mean radially symmetrical! That’s where he got caught up I think
Could be 🙂
With the placement of his wooden beams none of the ends line up with the ones on the opposite side, which makes the hexagon look wonky
If its in-game then #screenshots
ty i did
How did you manage that 😭
idek i was just making coal at the obliterator, turned around to that
So little about this makes sense
i hope this game never fixes the bugs
@chrome badge Hey so I'm testing out this little theory of yours and well. ..You saying that it applies to Very Hard just isn't true. While running mushrooms and berries, you cannot parry fulings (melee) or higher (block skill 50 btw, pretty generous skill level for block if you ask me). Thoughts? 🤨
Considering I'd initially mentioned skeletons, and that it's something I personally enjoy doing, it's not a theory. I extended the example to Fulings, but never tied the logic directly to Very Hard, just that it would translate to certain scenarios. This still works quite well in other difficulties.
It's bilaterally symmetric on two of its axes, a perfect hexagon would be isometric.
.........
Beautiful explanation
Especially means this also extends to, and there's no direct mention of fulings here sir.
Last I checked night spawns include Fulings, Seekers, and Charred 🤨 or are we gonna shift the goalposts again
ESPECIALLY if we are using jotun bane and comparing it to berserker axes
I appreciate the dedication to trying to prove my opinion wrong though, admirable at the very least.
You're literally wrong and you shift the goalpost to make it seem like you aren't but under the context of the scenario you are
And rather and admit that you're wrong you continue to shift the goalpost
It's fine if you don't play on very hard, but don't make claims that certain things work when they very clearly do not, it's harmful and it's misinformation
The only thing here to be wrong about is not wanting another teaser for deep north because the character in the teaser is utilizing a weapon you deemed as the worst mistlands weapon, but also admitted it's the 2nd best for woodcutting.
It's surely odd.
It's objetively the worst mistlands weapon and again, weapons are not tools
-# || @light moat 🧙♀️ ||
1h axes are tools.
No, they are both a weapon and a tool
But if you're purely looking at jotun bane as a weapon, it's bad, if your'e looking at it as a tool, it's 2nd to berserker axes
I've missed some deeper conversation here I'm sure, but night spawns also included swamp wraiths.
Context is in the meadows
That's fine, the teasers never show her using it as a weapon, and Smiffe said it was just for looks, making the weapon used even less important.
Ok?
Okay.
You're claim of nightspawn parrying on vh with the food you proposed is just incorrect though, that's my issue right now
Mind you I was far too generous with any parrying option testing
The initial point was how it was strange to not want a teaser because of the jotun bane being in the teaser, I merely pointed out why some people would utilize it, and you got crossed up on what is meta. The point was fumbled pretty quickly.
You keep repeating to me what is objectively better, but fail to understand that I said you're suggesting using a 2h axe where some players might just be more comfortable with a 1h axe and a shield.
in terms of combat and wood cutting, berserker axes are still objectively better, there's no confusion there
I really never wanted to make you feel challenged on your knowledge, just highlight that surely the axe has some use.
The axe has a use but there's a better option
If you wanna use it sure but you can't claim that it's the best
It's also very convenient you're still not addressing 🤣
Like just straight up lying
Again, I never said fuling on very hard get parried, I mentioned skeletons along those lines.
Nah you're moving the goalposts
You're just very mad over nothing, life will go on I promise.
The context was different and now you're changing it
I'm not mad at all, I'm a ChemE and I love data and science
Maybe some projection though? 🤔
Feel free to mention where I say Fulings on Very Hard get parried and that's why I carry a shield. Or anything specific to be honest, I spoke broadly because I have knowledge that it doesn't extend to everything.
It's implied in the context of the convo we had
You're making your own implications then, and I can't help you out of that pit.
You don't talk about a strategy very broadly if it only works in a niche scenario
That's just basic theory 101
I can if the point was far from what was being talked about, and I'm having to explain a simple position to someone.
I understand your position, but in theory it's just not a good position
Like the theory is just objectively bad
Why run 3 foods when you can get better stats from 1 feast?
And it's far more cost effective to run feasts
Again, not an argument for what's meta, just for what's comfortable/most familiar/offers flexibility in usage.
If you're playing on VH, running berries and mushrooms with nightspawns is absolutely not comfortable for anyone, including myself
If you want to make a claim for normal sure, but you said higher difficulties
Sure feasts are better, but when I'm already set up to passively harvest nearly endless supplies of berries and mushrooms, and the end result is no different, I've no issue using more cost effective supplies.
Did someone say… berries??
|| #suggestions message||
Hmph, I can't upvote it twice
what is the reason for the Iron Pit to be noteleport ?
Isn’t it like 3:00am for you? 👀
Heh, try 5am 😄 same as the devs
when you cut a tree down do the stumps regrow or just like stay there?
Stay there 😛 there's a tool later on which allows you to replant crops/saplings
-# heh you were faster 😄

its my first world and im just now making it to making bronze, so i didnt know if they were going to grow and destroy my house since i built it on top of one
Clean up your stumps!
I am the lorax, I speak for the trees.
Remove your stumps, or I'll send the bees!
maybe someday we'll get an official lore drop from devs/a very well researched theory on exactly how portals work and it will all make sense why some metal things are teleportable and others aren't
i was trying to focus on getting the workshop and forge level 3 and im just now working on my base for once
Chop em with secondary axe attack if you're having trouble reaching them
is there any benefit to trying to get a large honey farm going early? because i have only one and i dont use honey fast enough to run out
not rlly
I usually get at least 4-5 beehives 🙂
Absolutely, setting up several hives will help with early-midgame content
but you can get by even with one
I think I have enough hives to warrant 48 honey total per x4 harvest
That is 12 beehives 😄
Nice!
how do i keep the bees happy? i havent had them get upset yet but it worries me
I've got 16 hives in my apiary
don't crowd them
Just don't block their view
Y'all are in my favourites book
one more question that was confusing me, when i was building my workshop i made the walls 3 high but i had a hard time trying to get roof support without just running poles to the floor all over the place, how do you support roofs without sacrificing floor space?
Later materials solve that problem
i was just looking around my base and i noticed that i have random walls, floors and poles losing durability? is that supposed to happen?
Are they covered by a roof
yes
Near an ocean?
I had to change some stairs to roof material for that reason too
i built it next to a river so i can farm flint as it repsawns
How do you put campfires indoors??
im just realizing this game is confusing me more than i thought
stone, or raised terrain
you can't place campfires on wood floors
am i close to unlocking stone as a building materal if i just started getting bronze?
sort of, you'll need iron
ahhh okay, thank you
||One more biome (next one from black forest) and then you can make stone build pieces||
i am having a hard time figuring progression out lol
which biome is after black forest?
If you haven't already check out the hints hugin gives you. To re-read hints, click the bird icon when hitting tab:
#LeBirb
yes, look at the bird hints
oh okay, i turnt him off because he kept repeating the same things i had already done
if he keeps repeating things then you haven't done them
i turnt it back on and hes telling me how to smelt with the smelter even though i already have some bronze things
try smelting again
oh does he pop up to give me the hints and then goes to the next hint after i talk to him?
also you gotta interact on the bird sometimes to get the next hint
...progression in this game isn't really progression as much as it is growth.
Explore, collect, acquire new things, check all your crafting options, build everything at least once, start over at explore. All at whatever pace you're comfortable with.
If hugin hints were turned off and you smelted something it won't count. So just one more smelting process should be fine to complete that task
Hugin appears when you've met valid criteria and collected specific materials.
he just spawned on my roof, how am i supposed to reach that lol
moving around will respawn him
Build a ladder
i forgot the ladder even existied lol
Best place to build a base ? Sick of spending hours traveling around the map lol
I usually make it in meadows
Mountains ❤️
small mountain peak surrounded by field and mistland nearby
where tf be the dverger i want a new home
😄
3 diff biomes i think im illegally blind or something
how hard is it to play with other people?
not hard
am playin with 5 others rn its so much more fun
There's only two biomes you can dvrgrs in. ||Mistlands and Ashlands||
oh ya ik
im been in 3 different large mistland sections of this world and scoped the entire thing
all i keep seeing are the rouges, and the solo non rouges but no structure just the lamp
as i say that i walk up to one legit ON the ocean
If you're playing with 5 others there's a high chance that nearby spawned in seekers/seeker soldiers/ticks/gjalls have killed any dvrgr around the place, or other players have killed them all.
nah we r all progressing together in V
ah the building specifically, that provides black metal and a few other resources so there's a chance they've been dismantled by the other players 😄
#screenshots this is insane
i wanna play with another person but i dont really wanna rush through progression or anything
on the ocean, with a rock in it
if u wanna play with us u can, we V in a different server tho
My advice, I'd recommend playing the game through solo then with other players/mods
im enjoying the game, just wish i had some friends to talk to about the game and show off the things i build that i think look cool, the only friend i talk to doesnt like the game so he wont talk to me about it :/
Why have just one? I've got a big main base in the meadows, a forge base in the swamp, and a garden base in the plains...
A Witch!
I weigh considerably more than a duck.
Subject has been Bamboozled
Do you float tho...
Not particularly well
Hmmm, then you really might not be a witch 👀
That's why we come here to talk and post our pictures in the Screenshots topic.
Same here haha
Travel ? Can’t go through portal with metal bars
You can if you enable the world modifier 🙂
And you can always just bring metal there and craft stuff you want
You can smelt your bars and ride the ocean waves to take a load to your other base
Varies. With bars/ore if I need it at main base thats by foot or by boat, otherwise I craft the item in place.
Cart: "Am I a joke?"
You're in here too?
i just built a cart and i use it to deforest
By foot though, you can really haul some a$$ using Eikthyr power + Fenris armor and/or strength/speed mead, and the belt ofc.
Well hellooooooo!
yoooo
I was going to tell you I started Valheim but I'm not on FS server
been peeping the latest grand sumo championships on youtube
can you use floor as a roof?
||Stone and up you can||
This last basho was crazy, was really hoping Aonishiki would pull it off but Kotoshoho really surprised us all.
Damn started looking for swamp and find the most tiniest one ever, back to the drawing board I guess
Remove a floor piece and place it on the ground.
i built all my houses floating a little bit with support pillars underneath
You can raise ground with a hoe 🙂
i forget the hoe can even do that tbh
The first swamp I found was just a tiny sliver in the ocean next to the black forest, zero crypts, not enough room for an abomination to spawn, not even a bone or body pile.
a soft intro
Yeah, had to build a land bridge out to the islands.
you don't run a karve to go island hopping?
I found an abomination but he fled up a huge long mountain so I couldn’t follow
I’m currently running a Karve at the moment. Looking for bigger lands — looking for a sunken crypt I have like 6 keys.
Er 6 keys?
This was really too shallow for even that, just needed a quick access to farm what little was there and still run back to safety
Holy im so happy today
Somebody fought Elder quite a few times 👀
Yeah this is a world I made with my friends and we just fought him a bunch. Now I’m exploring the lands in their stead so I can chart where we go next.
But I did discover it in my karve, I use longboats now tho
longboats for life
I’m trying to rake in some iron but it appears luck is not on my side today.
I find karves are more maneuverable, but longboats better for ocean voyages
A dock is my next major build after I improve my foundry area
Pray to RNGeezus 😄
unfortunately you need a dang drakkar to get to the ashlands
fucking thing is a buick
I say my luck is bad and I finally see one in the horizons lmfao
i posted a screenshot of my worksite shed that im using while i flatten the land around it
im actually really happy with the way it turnt out
IT's cute. Gotta start somewhere!
im trying to relocate because the area im in now i feel it is a tad to cramped and theres a runestone in the way telling how to tame a boar lol
Not that far along, I was still in a karve when I stumbled across the mistlands and noped right out, I could barely tackle the swamp at that point and knew anything there would paste me. Still just starting the mountains and have claimed a small patch of plains.
Great spot for an early boar farm, then
You only need to catch 2 to start a farm....
No
Nope, only stuff in mistlands dungeons and yellow mushrooms respawn 🙂
Only the mushrooms
ashlands are wild
I'm looking forward to both '-lands
I'll post some screenshots of my main base when I get back on this weekend
With that, #building-screenshots is the channel you want when you do post them
I'm ok with my pace at the moment, and am playing with another friend, we're progressing at the same rate. He's got his own world but he plays on mine as well...we just beat Bonemass on his this weekend; I'm waiting until my fortifications are complete.
I'm the builder, he's the one that wants to move along faster
You should see my space tho, it's pretty magnificent
I feel your pain.
Alternatively if you want to minimise the raid progression and mob spawns from killing certain bosses, you can kill them on a seperate world and then bring the boss drops back to your main world.
if you die and drop your items does dying again mean losing those items?
dang
Yup, brought my wishbone back from his world 😉
@steep ginkgo nope.
now I wanna play valheim real bad
thank you
I died too many times in a boss fight and had all the tombstones to go through to find my gear 😄
And he was playing the whole time on his world not having beaten even one boss and then complains about the raids on mine!

i found a troll cave and thought i could tank a hit with my skeleton sheild and he almost one hit me and i paniced and he killed me lol
A few raids are basically just free food delivery
Dis made me look in there.
I thought I was good till I looked in it
My current raids are either trolls or stink from the swamp.
Fortunately I can parry like a madman.
The troll one is crazy when u got the finewood bow and bronze
is parrying supposed to make you still take damage?
Depends on the shields
Not much, and you can block more dmg by parrying instead of normal blocking
yeah
I use it more for the stun/knock back and then follow up for bonus damage.
you're still getting hit
If you have the bone shield you cant parry
when you die what does it mean by "the gods are merciful"?
round ones actually parry and throw off the enemy. Tall shields just take less damage/block some damage but can't parry
ahhhhh okay that makes sense
If you die with that active you won't lose anymore skill points
no skill loss
lasts for 10 minutes
That you had "no skill drain" buff still active from last daeth and you didnt loose any skill levels this time
Ahhhh, that explains something.
Is why I stuck with bucklers
oh i guess ive been pretty lucky so far, ive only dies like 7-10 times and its always said that
If you die in the 10 minutes its active after the first death the timer refreshes 🙂
I much prefer the parry to the better block
Hrm
Now I'm rethinking my golem strategy...
Strategy for golems is usually to parry the attack that staggers them for few seconds and get 5-6 hits with a mace in 🙂
Decent Food and biome appropriate shields are your strategy.
It's only been this playthrough I've been confident enough taking on golems and parrying every attack
do trolls in the caves respawn?
Nope, and are really rare
adding on to this, you can do 3 swipes with a sword and then a charged attack before the next golem attack if you parry it
i found 2 and one just roaming around
I've got the best foods! I'm the "camp mom" as it were lol
"Mum! Don't!"
I just do the 5-6 attacks, usually does more dmg since the 2 3-hit combos 🙂
Just graduated up to Wolf lvl stuff, and feasts ofc
why copper and tin ore have to be so heavy :/
silver armors is useless asf
Trolls in caves, once beaten, do not respawn - but they wander the forest all the time
real tawk

Rare you say? I find them all the time
Oh yes they are rare, they can only spawn in those large caves with frozen lakes 🙂 and those are really rare
It's the rare one that is empty
wait are trolls rare?>
Not especially
I constantly have to fuck em up just wandering in the woods
Wait, are you talking about golem in the frost caves? Or big blue down in the forest?
lads are always hanging around copper deposits
Stone golems? not rare at all :D. stone golems always spawn around silver or other poi nodes/sites.
Golems in caves... Now i realized i missread the firs message i was replying to... 🤦♂️
and once defeated can respawn nearby in under 2 minutes or so
However rare find in caves yes. I've never seen a stone golem in a cave
Ok, I was very confused lol - I'm on the hunt for a frozen lake now, still haven't found one.
Yeah, my bad xD currently closing on 21 hours without sleep
I've been through half a dozen frost caves so far and no luck yet, was hoping that 'boss' quest cave thing from t-shirt guy would have one, but nope.
Lucky you
how do you deal with getting overwhelmed by the greydwarf brutes and the shamans, plus the ranged ones?
everytime i enter the black forest like 20 of the different graydwarfs surround me and i get boned
they come outta no where
In the words of the Great Rolly-Polly....
"Git gud scrub"
Seriously though; avoid the forest at night, run like hell, upgrade your gear - all viable options.
ill see one and be like okay i can handle this, then i realize he brought his buddies and i realize i have just stepped into their trap
Nighttime is really the worst for those ambushes, go during the day and keep an eye out for structures/spawn piles - they cluster around those
balled a bit too hard there
@lethal lynx I don't get that one yet, can't help. But it's mostly just wolves right?
let's reduce the swearing please. Seen a fair bit today
oop sorry
I use a LOT of spikey sticks around my perimeter
Constantly repairing/replacing them
One unexpected advantage though, is there's one corner where, for whatever reason, deer are constantly dying on them - I get a nice steady supply of meat/hides 😆
wild
what does the cartography table do?
ahhh so useless for me lol
? i am new so i dont understand very much of this game
theres magic?
Telloh is new to the game, so let's just leave Telloh to their own exploration

is there a photo mode?
👍
I don't remember if you have to enable something first, but try ctrl+F3 to hide the hud.
If that doesn't work, there's a thing you have to do i n steam first (I'd have to look it up)
...wait, are you on PC?
yes
ctrl+f3
is there a way to detach camera for better angles?
That's a whole different level of access, but yes.
ahhh so like not something normal you can do?
As far as I know you have to enable the thing on steam, then access devcommands in-game, then enable 'free fly' mode
If you Google valheim free fly it'll tell you all about it
Well, we finally have everything we need to have everything operating. Now we have to decide by tomorrow if we want to try magic again. We still need to do a bit of travelling to get to the palace for that fight. Just since we have taken so long to get to this point, we already have all the mats we need to make any additional gear we decide to make. This final dungeon was kind of crazy. I don't think I have ever seen 4 soldiers in one room before.
Not to mention everything else that was in there.
what order do you guys use for the hotbar?
1-8?
Typically unless running under specific circumstances:
In order
Sword, shield, axe, bow, hammer, pickaxe, arrow1, arrow2.
The last 3 I change up for certain things, but the first 5 are almost always in that order.
Bottom row of my inventory is: helm, cloak, tunic, belt, trousers, food1, food2, food3
You'll get to a belt later, so don't worry about that for now.
mine is currently Torch, spear, bow, axe, hammer, pickaxe, hoe
is there a tree in black forest i can get finewood from?
Reasonable starting setup...I ensure my top row is always full of my choices though...I left a slot up there open once, and by chance had picked up some bukeperries that ended up in slot 7, I was trying to equip whatever I had in 8 at the ti.e (my bow i think) and accidentally hit 7 instead - started puking my guts out and I never left a slot up there open after ghsy
i thought so, also i like the spear because i can kill one dude then throw the spear at the next and stun him run up and kill him too
Finewood is available in the meadows but you need a better axe than flint.
i was trying to build another portal in the black forest but forgot the wood lol
Valheim is great for different combat strategies, I rarely used my spear. I am a knife/sword enjoyer while my buddy prefers clubs/maces
im thinking of swapping to either a sword/mace combo, or maybe a knife, mace combo, im trying to run lighter now i was so slow and heavy it was hard to move easy
If you unequip whatever you're carrying it removes the movement penalty
i know but i have a hard time doing that when i need to move in combat
I used knife/shield for the majority of the beginning biomes
ive been dreaming of a sword since i started lol
You'll get there
Not too far off actually
I stopped carrying torches pretty much right away too
i almost never use it tbh :/
Yup, was just clutter in my inventory.
i just found a burial chamber with NINE of the Surtling cores
You'll be swimming in those in no time, but you'll find you need plenty as well 😆
lol yeah, i only have one smelter and one kiln, the kiln is fine but i want another smelter
what foods did you use early game?
Before I stated crafting i ran on honey, mushrooms, and cooked deer
i use the neck meat, deer meat, and yellow mushrooms
Once I was able to cook real food things got better
I prefer stamina foods over health, but these days (and most days actually) I run one high stamina, one high health, and one balanced when I'm just out and about.
I run full stamina for some situations, but rarely full health. All the HP in the world is useless w/o stamina.
