I do like what they've done with the ability to build taller with later materials so you have the option of building these huge towers but get to work up to it.

All you need to know is make sure all of your ground pieces are blue. This means they are "foundation" pieces. If they are green use the hoe to bring the dirt up. You can get a hoe on day one. If any piece gets close to red give it a supporting pillar. And finally, every fire needs a chinmey to release the smoke. You now know everything you need to get started.

Play the game all the way through and just enjoy the game for what it is, dont focus too hard on "beating" the game just do things you want when the come to mind. Build a house, go tame some wolves, go explore to the end of the world. You can really do anything in this game, the bosses dont have to be your main goal. If you play the game that way you will have a lot more fun

Theres something I dont like about scaling HP and its how it messes my "expectations" when I hit a monster. For instance, in the ashland, I kind of rely on how I need, say, four hits to kill a warrior. But then suddenly my friend shows up and the thing is still alive after four hits and I get punched in the face by a giant sword.

Actually, Vic's Point Blank minigun isn't that great against boss enemies because the damage immunity mechanic prevents them from taking continuous damage quickly. It's the sniper rifles that shred ass.

but the idea is that instead of having the top hp food, you get a less hp food plus a bit of a bonus

so you trade 10 hp for 2 armor or soemthing, I dunno

I say all that because when I started playing this game, I thought the food system was neat until I figured out how it really worked, and it kind of bummed me out

Another idea I had was to have a "food mead". Its a mead you take after eating a bunch and it kinds of "boosts" it. The way I would like it to work is that it equalizes all your current foods durating and add something like 5 minutes.

I see what you mean, but I personally think its sort of peaceful to go back to earlier biomes and not have to worry about the creatures that lie within them as much as before, but yea I see what you mean having to go back and get resources you have already obtained a bunch of before. It is defenitely a hassle and takes a long time to collect the amount you need, but I dont know, sometimes I love the grind, sometimes I hate it just depending on how I'm feeling. For me, I just try to get into the zone with a specific type of crop or food set that doesn’t require me to go walk al over the place

So I’ll farm lots of bread and lox meat with some cloud berries at my base (for example) then I’ll just live there semi permanently without really having to go back to old biomes that often

Technically you do have plains armor - and most of the materials you need for it come from the plains

Iron is just one of those materials that you always need regardless of what biome you are in

Thankfully the mistlands also have structures that you can dismantle for iron scrap

For me, I just have a plains farm and a mistlands house and I never really need to leave or go anywhere else at this point 🥰

You do know that you're already able to sail the moment the wind just touches the golden part of the circle? So while it may drift you off course, it could actually get somewhere faster as paddling.

But in worse case, there's a site ( http://valheim.kirilloid.ru/weather#1 ) which shows you the kind of weather you can expect in each biome for each and every day.
Using it may make sailing a bit "less nerve wrecking."

It is very normal to feel burnt out when playing any games in general, just do something else for a few months or two and return when you're freshen up, I burnt out of valheim when I was trying to clear out my swamp biome for iron, and when I returned I cleared out said swamp biome and speedran through swamp>mountain>plains and now here I am finishing my base in the plains and getting ready to stock on up all the resources I need before I hit the mistlands, and probably re-work my main base or so

The terrain shouldn't be funneling you into a death trap. With enough stamina, you can sprint-jump your way across even steep slopes.

I just started mapping the edge of the black forest there. I found a stone tower and was going to build a base in/on it, but, as I was trying to gather wood and set up storage, the raid started.

Well, all my food is in my death location back in the middle of the circle.

The way there is on a ridge with two steep valleys on either side.

Best I can suggest is find some honey and raspberries, sprint through the gauntlet, and just kite the greydwarfs with walking with the occasional sprint thrown in when they get too close. Don't attack anything until after the raid ends. Gravestones don't despawn, so just get that whenever you can.

I really liked how as his hp dropped he started using ranged attacks a lot more. Not just cause they're the more dangerous ones, but it also makes the boss feel like they have a bit of a personality

They're in danger of dying so they fight at range, and it accelerated the rate at which the surrounding terrain broke apart

a very excellent end to a biome that I otherwise have some qualms with

Like, audibly groaning every time I go there because of fighting. It's pretty awesome for the first hour or so, but stops becoming fun and starts becoming tedious very, very quickly.

And before anyone gives me any clapback for this - it's not skill issue. I relish difficulty. But tedium is for me the wrong kind of difficulty. If I come out of a biome feeling like on future playthroughs I might just end the game after beating the queen to not subject myself to whats after again, I think there's an issue

I’d say from my gameplay that Ashlands can be quite chill depending on where you are

It’s really just a very challenging biome since it’s one of the 3 endgame biomes (and it’s a lot easier than the ptb)

But if you learn how to work around it’s hard spots and use your best skills (such as spawn proofing an area) you can actually make a really nice base 🥰

Ok after a little more testing I think it is a glitch on my end. I started a new world with a new character in a Vanilla game and there is a village where the anomaly was. So not sure what it was about the characters that I was using. But it is gone now, for new games anyway. The only thing different from the two Vanilla tests was the characters used. 😢

I made the world for both Vanilla tests today so that I could test. The character that was not new I had played in an older world with mods, but the test world was created today.

Lets phrase that a different way. One character was old from a modded world, One character was build today from a Vanilla world, Both test worlds were created today as Vanilla. The old character still spawned the above ground Burial Chamber and the New character didn't.

basicly the "setkey" commands are additional extra settings outside of world modifiers we already have. but we just don't have them active in the menu since it would be 100's of settings 😄

And devcommands are also used to spawn anything that you want so why even play. I stay away from Devcommands to avoid Temptation to mis-use them, so I look for QOL and utility mods to do some of what I want to do. The Mods come with configs to take out what you don't want.

i deff agree, the raids are pretty tough.
for my maximum raid rate playthrough, i made my starter base in an abandoned village, and used the empty huts as little places of refuge to lock myself up and spam repair on the walls until i'm ready to come back out. I also liked making little walls to run behind until the draugr archersstop having good aim. prep is everything (i really didn't feel like digging a moat)

He is a fun fight but yeah more or less a tutorial boss, the next one is a bit harder, and the 3rd boss and biome is definitely a bigger step up in difficulty than before, but I mean you don't expect a game to be super hard at the beginning and challenges to be easier going forward, I think the progression gets harder in a nice and fun challenging way, its not terribly over or undertuned.

I literally just completed the sealed tower myself, I'd relegated myself to doing the sidequests post game cause they were all on the opposite side of the map to where I explored.
