Thjs would be the most realistic solution.
that is fair. but i disagree with calling it an exploit
same like with the destructor thingie. it bypasses kilns aswell π€·π»ββοΈ
Yeah it's just how I was expressing it, I wasn't trying to state anything specific with that term or wtvs.
(i mean we can't just burn forests for coal sadly. would be nice but at the same time terrible)
uhm yeh, that would be a good balance (general idea, no game dev either so dunno about specific ratios)
if you dislike wood, just turn yggdrasil wood piles into coal π
That's pretty much how I see it. A stack of wood is made up of multiple trees, just sneezing some sparks on a thicket shouldn't net you a mountain of dry potent coal (exagerating here, but u get what I mean)
Just how I prefer to play, it's a video game, so it's super chill for people that prefer it the way it is.
World tree that connects all realms?
No.
World fuel that connect my factory.
THE FACTORY MUST GROW.
his fault for growing where he shouldn't
I'm sure there's a more efficient method - Ada probably
in the mountains near here there's some reconstructed kiln structures from middle ages archaeological findings, awesome old engineering for efficient coal, so realistic yes, but also it's a videogame yes, no big deals π
My thoughts exactly
we have to wait for 1.0 til christmas right chat
Nobody knows, that's the earnest truth. Could be Christmas, could be later, we just don't know.
Also, a major release just before Christmas is generally a risky thing. Lots of people with free time wanting to play the bejesus out of the game - and devs on leave over the holidays too, so can't fix things if something is broken... Seen it happen, and it gets ugly. Now if they are confident their release candidate for 1.0 is stable enough they could risk it, but if there is a winter release I'd expect it earlier in December or after New Year. But until they make an announcement it is pretty much pointless to speculate.
it better not be later
i will fume
It will come when it is ready, no sooner and no later. In the meantime I got lots of stuff to do, so I don't really care to be honest.
releasing in early december would be cool to fit the theme, and then you get to play deep north in christmas and the whole winter, and the devs get to patch things.
Can we get to a settlement on that
To change the subject - I adore the look of the Flametal Shield. Blackmetal shield was too weird with the chains, and the carapace shield didn't even look like a shield, so coming back to a proper round viking shield - love it!
Argh another ping from this server, and no news on 1.0. I know perfection takes time, but it got my hopes up a bit so I could get back to my necromancy. π¦
I would opt out of the news role if that's a problem. 1.0 is still not anytime close
If you run fast every day it will be closer due to relativity π
One day...one day, my undead army will overtake the deep north.
Or hopefully it gets replaced with a neck army
Summon Undead Neck staff π
Asksvin are pretty much overgrown, tameable necks
But for undead necks, the necks would need to have died previously
guys im new player any tip vs frozen ?
Vs what?
Let it Go.
I mean playing on a hill
The status effect from the mountains biome? Go to swamps first and you should be able to make frost resistance mead.
This makes even less sense than frozen.
and how can i craft frost resist gear ?
Have you been to the Swamp?
i kill the 2nd boss
Yeah, you aren't supposed to be in the Mountain yet.
What did that boss drop?
The Elder drops the SWAMP Key --> Which is your hint of where to go next.
nothing olny tropy and 1 key
Read the name of the key...
ye i know i can open the dungeon
So you know you should go to swamps π
you have to go die in the nasty, muddy, undead-filled hellhole first (and make draugr-gut sausage) before you can go die in the nasty, frozen, wolf-filled mountains π
π
Aright, in the swamp where those dungeons are, there are other things with which you can make a frost resist mead.
(i'm joking, it's not that bad)
Assuming you have made a fermenter so you can make meads?
i thought i could get irons on the mountain and be stronger
Iron comes from the dungeons
The Mountain does not have iron.
btw i have dragon egg
So?
good for ?
boss summoning
Stuff you're not doing yet.
It's for summoning the mountain boss, save it for later
or decoration
Either follow the order the game lays out for you and enjoy the simplicity, or do things out of order and figure it out yourself π€·ββοΈ
The "Swamp key" kinda hints that the swamps are where you should be headed after spanking the Elder. Skipping biomes can be done - if you know what to do and how to do it, not recommended first time you play. Go explore the swamp mate, you'll find what you need for the mountain.
I love opening the valheim subreddit to scroll through the posts of people moaning and whining about how hard Valheim the "brutal exploration and survival game" is
"Help I don't know how to kill trolls even though I have full bronze gear what do I do!!!!111!!1"
Being a noob was awesome, I miss those days
The daily "I am not having fun anymore" and "I quit" posts are also fun reads.
Real shit
"I'm not having fun anymore" as soon as they touch the swamp
Somehow I think a lot of people enter valheim expecting some chill aesthetic builder game
Swamp is metal AF and has some of the best builds tbh.
Valheim suffers from TOO GOOD of a building system
Death rate accelerated there, true - but also my fascination with how well crafted the game is. But if dying repeatedly from making mistakes and misjudging enemies doesn't teach them anything, Valheim is not the game for them...
everyone remebers their first 2 star draugr archer π
Oh yes, that bastard. Finally killing him was a major FUCK YEAH!!! gaming experience. Better than most boss fights actually π
Look up some of the builds that incorporate the Bonemass skull.
Which words need clarification?
Now I get it. I havenβt played in a while
How do vineberries actually work? I came back to my "vineyard" and there was not a single berry grown on any of the vines, after me being away for at least 5-6 days. But standing there looking at them and cursing my bad luck 4 clusters appeared, one after the other.
Should I get the bleeding or primal axes?
Iolite/Lightning
green wines don't give berries. only red one gives berries after days
there is a logout bug that can reset the growing timer on the red wine berries tho
Bugs? In Valheim? NOOOOOOOO
I have no iolite
Then don't enchant your axes yet.
Oh my, somebody never went to mistlands... π (or plains for that matter π )
Oh? Logging out in the vicinity, or at certain times? I keep my vines in a separate place to the main base, so I am rarely in that area to make it "active" other than when I come to pick berries and plant another batch of onions...
Ah right, nothing that can be avoided then. I'll just stay online 24/7 π
Oooh my asksvin have mated, whee!
Just go pick up vineberries before you log out. If you've been playing a while they should've grown some even if you get the reset bug.
rifgh now have finewood bow where can i find the next tier bow ?
swamp
not learning to block/dodge will bite you in the ass later on though, so i'd recommend not overrelying on bows
need cut tree or ?
iron
Bows is just one tool among many, not something to use all the time
I only use a bow if I feel like I have to
I think I usually make it to Arbalest now without ever using a bow π
I use them mostly to pick off enemies one at a time where taking on the whole group would be insane. And for drakes of course.
I donβt like crossbows because all you can do to dodge while reloading is walk. No rolling, sprinting or even jumping
A shot or two from sneak to thin out larger groups is pretty useful in swamp & mistlands
you can reload while jumping with the feather cape
a very useful crutch
Feather cape best cape
No.
yes
And getting up top of something mobs can't climb and shoot them from there might be semi-cheeze, but I regard it as a valid tactic..
No.
Feather cape together with Lightfoot mead allows you to dodge almost everything at incredibly low stamina cost
feather cape & fenris β€οΈ
I need to detox from the feather cape though, I have taken to some bad habits of jumping off tall things all the time, when I tried another cape it almost killed me more than once.
No cape & Fenris π
You can reload while falling, but you can't jump to dodge anything after reloading has started or it resets.
Also the feather cape doesn't affect it.
And all the time getting there could be spent using a bow, which will let you jump while charging a shot
Aright, putting the asksvin with my chickens was a poor idea, they are constantly walking on the fires turning themselves on fire and breaking the fireplaces
though for running around ashlands xbow is great because it oneshots twitchers and marksmen with sneak attacks
xbox is great, yes.
So does Spinesnap tho
Spinesnap in Ashlands cooks because spirit damage.
the spirit damage is so tiny it barely makes a difference.
Got mine upgraded to lvl 4 now, I doubt I will even make the Ashlands bow, at least until much later
Silver sword can do this, no sneak needed
Spirit damage stacks though, so it builds up on the big ones where it matters
yeah, but it can't take half of a valkyries health or be used to destroy spawners from a distance. And no need to carry both
Spawners I take out with the bow, I bring needle arrows to not waste frost on that
Stacking doesn't generate any extra damage. The total damage is the same as it would be if the spirit status was cleared before attacking again.
carapace bolts are easy to farm in bulk so not an issue for xbows. To each their own though.
Yeah? Damage is damage, as long as the mob dies I'm happy. And the fact I can't move properly while reloading means I'll never use the crossbows again. Made it once and ditched it almost immediately.
i got used to it during Mistlands since they're just so useful for killing gjall
and with Fenris you can dodge lots of stuff just by walking so it's not too terrible with a little practice
Bows can't destroy things from a distance??
Omg... been doing that wrong. I will walk closer.
If you could block/parry while reloading that would be great because parrying an enemy then shooting its face would be fun, but crossbows somehow have 3 block armor while staves have 48, and staves are likely to be used together with staff of protection so the block armor is useless on them.
?
Read what I replied to.
go up two posts from that
yeah. whatever you're shooting at needs to be closer than end of render distance to take damage
Nah, the asksvin have to get a coop of their own, they're making a terrible mess in the chicken coop
So basically, if I can see it, I can kill it?
is there a lfg channel on this server? whats it called??
thank yo kindly
I strafed every spawner that I could see from the sea before I landed in Ashlands, with my bow. Made the whole landing process much smoother than it could have been, I suspect. Bow works perfectly well for this, although the crossbow might be better at it, I dislike the slow reload too much to really appreciate its heavy first hits.
no
you need to be slightly closer than render distance
I think I have noticed that on the spawner columns in Ashlands. If I shoot them at max distance I only waste arrows, but a little closer it will work. Can you share how much closer we need to be?
don't know the number π
Fair enough, it's not like I can make out exact distances in-game either..
tbh
it may be a searing hot take that im gonna get a lot of shit thrown at me for but
valheim is made hard in a bad way sense of this word
aka making the game artificially harder than it needs to be because some people in this community has the same views on difficulty as terraria calamity mod community
Eh... No? The normal difficulty is just as devs decided, you can make it easier or harder if you want to....
you're gonna have to be more specific on what exactly you mean? Enemies too tough? Too much material grind? Not enough handholding?
"hard in a bad way sense" tells us exactly nothing
i'd argue world modifiers are a bandage on a broken bone
If you think so π
this is just a coverup on bad balancing
plenty of people enjoy vanilla options
What bad balancing? You get what was advertised, brutal survival exploring game.
What you consider badly balanced others consider just fine. That's what world modifiers are FOR, to tailor the experience to your preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all difficulty.
You're going to have to elaborate tbh. Valheim vanilla is pretty perfectly balanced in my opinion. Difficulty escalates as you progress through biomes in a logical manner, and the way progress is achieved is very rewarding (making your own gear, making better foods). I am a pretty mediocre player myself, and I have been able to progress up to and including Ashlands without ragequitting.
i feel like perfect essence of well designed biome is plains, it's rough, but not too rough
a little combat oriented but you can strategize
As almost any other biome...
i just feel like there's a lot of lategame creep
You don't understand, it's badly hard. How do you not understand?
no need to troll someone for expressing their opinion
i just don't get where the hate for difficulty options comes from. They've been a thing in video games since basically forever.
World modifiers came when Hildir's Quest patch was added, in 2023 summer. So they haven't always been there.
not saying like good items shouldn't be locked away behind difficulty, but stone portal at the stage you get them aren't as useful as they'd be at like plains,
perhaps letting us build them early, but it allows only a very little of the ore to pass through and let us upgrade them just like we do with crafting stations, this gives sense of progression
Theres no such thing as perfectly balanced when the game is experienced by so many different skill levels and expectations. The sliders allow you to customize to your preference just like any game with a difficulty selector
I have never thought of Valheim as "hard" to be honest. Some aspects can be hard. The Queen was a hard boss fight, establishing a first outpost in Ashlands was a hard fight. The bloody two-star seeker with two one-star sidekicks that protected the queen's lair in my world is the hardest fight I have had in the game, bosses included...
i feel like locking almost everything cool behind only the late stage of the game really sours the experience, because you don't get to toy with these for the most of the experience
I think Stone portals are fit to be found in the end game.
The stone portal would not even have to be in game and i would really dont mind, makes the large storage of drakkar really useless on normal settings
He didnt say they were. Hes saying difficulty selectors have been in video games pretty much as long as video games have existed
The sliders allow you to customize to your preference just like any game with a difficulty selector
You missed the point: People don't want solutions, they want reasons to cry and whine about
not in Valheim but in general. Calling them "a coverup on bad balancing" makes zero sense to me.
Why do you think people STILL complain and whine about things that can be very perfectly solved with current features?
But thats subjective. Many people find plenty outside of late game βcoolβ
Pride?
Solve it. No not like that. Thats not the solution i want
it's not that really, people use "just use world modifiers" as a counter to any suggestions about where balance failed and things could be improved
Oh yes, let me whine about stuff proudly π
Stone Portal shouldn't exist.
I mean, pride in sense that "I won't lower the difficulty because it would make me look weak".
like, balance changes won't ever happen if people don't complain, because "duh, world modifiers exist"
But balance in this case is subjective to the user. The sliders allow you to customize your experience to your preference. Because its impossible to balance a game to EVERYONES preference
It is more a case of few agreeing that balancing has actually failed...
The only wine is Barely π
true, but it's not like game is banned from having suggestions on how to improve it from now on
-# Which should technically be called beer...
Of course, but in this case the individual, subjective balance issues already have a solution: the sliders
"How to improve" is also subjective af.
π€« They didn't know any better.
Still really useful non the less π
Is useful for Yagluth. Beyond that π€·ββοΈ it is decorative.
Is it not useful in the entire biome made of fire? π
Kind of how Frost Mead is useful for like... an hour.
You don't need to have the devs change the balance when you can do it yourself with a slider, that's the point. You're asking for an option that's already there because what? You're too lazy to move a slider? It takes away your gamer cred? I really don't see the issue here.
true, i just wish the game was more set on progression rather than difficulty
Given the vast majority of the Ashlands damage is not fire... not really.
Also useful in mistlands and ashlands π especially if you have feather cape, but i dont really drink it after Yag that is true
Tbh only few monsters deal fire damage there.
I don't use Crutch Cape π
Why is it a crutch cape?
Can you give a few examples? I guess im not understanding specifically what youd want changed
You are one of the minority in that i am afraid π
See for reference: my views on Frostner. π
Also, world modifiers appeared pretty recently, and mostly to pander to the parts of the community asking for higher difficulty.
Oh i am with you on that one xD
Really? I see them as pandering to the easy-mode people.
I wish frostner was more available for the swamps where itd be most effective lol
giving players options is pandering now?
Would make them too easy
I wish Frostner didn't punt people.
They do both, which is fine to me. I run pure vanilla, I don't feel the need to change anything.
It doesn't unless PvP.
I run vanilla with 1.5x resource rate just to ease the grind a bit
It does indeed punt. Which is why I hate it.
I know.

any tip for feather farm ?
Then you wouldn't use any of the other weapons there except against abominations
I wonder where I put my Frostner, by the way. Haven't used it in months, must be on some armour stand somewhere..
Clear sealed tower or defeat 5th boss π
Once you progress enough you can farm chickens. Before that you don't need many feathers, you should get enough if you kill birds when you see them and from chopping trees.
early game hunt birds during rainstorms (they land). Later on breed chickens. Ashlands also gives a decent amount just from all the voltures you kill
- chests in black forest have feathers π
Bow, wooden arrows. Pew!
(Or throw spear if you don't want to waste wood)
π
You also find a lot of arrows in the chests in ruins and dungeons
This became my main method in my bow only challenge run. Running through 'em and getting lots of feathers and free arrows.
Yeah, i usually dont have to craft arrown untill mountains or plains π
Pretty much. Until you get to the plains wooden arrows will do you just fine. Needing an extra shot or two per enemy just means your bow skill rises faster.
I mean i loot arrows π not craft wooden ones
I have barely seen any voltures since I sailed down there, I see them flying around off the coast but they never come close enough to aggro.
hit something with your pickaxe
I demolished an entire ruin on the beach and they didn't pay any attention whatsoever. Stupid birds.
or just follow the coastline, you tend to find a decent amount of nests
the feeling of constantly improving your base is awesome, but you have very little things at the start, and you can only add extra after you beat a boss rather than having a lot available and improving from there
im saying that if we got certain buildables early available, but you have to upgrade them to have them at maximum potency would feel better than having everything good and cool locked behind very late biomes
it also helps with space managment since if you got more available early, you know you will need space for them
- putrid holes too ime
Putrid holes is something I haven't run across yet.
Still haven't seen any fortresses either.
valheim is so set on progression and yet it so much isn't because SO FUCKING MUCH is not available for you for major part of the game
See i actually love that as i move through the game i get access to better buildables and can gradually upgrade my base or build different kinds of bases. Its certainly a thought, but its still subjective to the user, not necessarily something that applies to game balance.
Every biome gives you something new
Plus if you had it all at the start, why progress/move into new biomes?
Hard disagree on all of this to be honest. Valheim works so well because you are not overwhelmed by everything you can do right from the very start. You unlock stuff as you go and imo it is perfectly built that way.
Something like a build mode might solve that i suppose. Like where you dont actually play the game for progression, you just have access to everything and build exclusively
i'm not saying you should have all buildables available from the start, im saying they should be ealier, but have to be constantly upgraded
And the only boss you NEED to kill is Moder. All the others you can do without
The way stuff unlocks as you find the ingredients is delightfully simple and efficient.
for example put the stone portal in plains, but in its first iteration you can only teleport a single ore/bar at a time
that sounds tedious af
TL;DR: "I dislike being rewarded by progression"
Entirely pointless
like a single fuling village gives 3-4 stacks of black iron
Too bad, other people DO like being rewarded by progression π€·
Ive shown the game to a few friends who are overwhelmed by the stuff you start with. Theres definitely something to be said for not overwhelming people too early
it's more of i see progression differently, i prefer constant progression than bursts of it
that's 120 back and forth trips through your portal
that's the point, and to have ability to teleport as much you wanna only come from materials from ashlands
I feel like progression IS pretty constant. You certainly get a key item from the boss but theres tons to discover and craft as you go through the biome itself
the point is spending half an hour staring at the portal screen?
the progression discovery wise yes
This just creates a huge amount of tedium that would drive people away, id think.
the progression base wise absolutely fucking not
So the point is to make a feature 1,000,000 times more unnecessarily annoying and tedious?
Indeed. I've been in Ashlands for three weeks and I still have lots of stuff left to find. Haven't unlocked the stone portal for example, and I haven't seen any fortresses.
Thought I would get that damn portal once I got flametal, but noooo
I really feel like youre locked into this but the reasons are all emotional, not logistical? None of this really solves the problem, it just kind of shifts it somewhere else
put it ealier being more tedious, but it becomes less tedious over time
That would only result in people not using it at all
This doesnt really improve the game, it just shifts the entire progression rate to your personal preference without considering the broader player base
At that point is when you end up asking yourself "why the hell did the make it this way? They shouldn't have done anything"
i guess
i may probably make a different balance mod once the game actually releases, no promises tho
As it is theres, and i apologize for going back to this, a slider that controls the broader method with which portals can be used
i used portals as an example
Forcing people to use portals in a way thats actually slower than a cart until the end game is an interesting choice
Sailing would probably still be faster π
I think theres enough logistical tedium WITH portals already that creating more for the sake of breadcrumbing progression isnt the best logical choice
"you can portal your ore back to base 1 by 1. Or you can just sail over a full longships worth with Moder's power"
there are more buildables that'd have been cool to know about ealier like blast furnace (i always forget about their existence and when i remember, i realize i have no space for them in my main base, but that's just personal skill issue)
Yeah this is a bit more prep/user error. I built a crazy base in meadows then discovered core wood and felt real dumb, but i loved that discovery all the more for that discovery
Gods, my wolfs constantly converge on the staircase and stay there, making it nearly impossible to get up or down. Just now had to jump out a window to get to the ground floor
I usually just leave my older bases standing and move on to a new one when the old one gets too small. Getting the mats for duplicate crafting stations isn't that much of an issue imo.
Plus im someone who tends to make multiple bases to make resource movement easier so it was cool to have all that practice building with limitations. It made having access to the better materials a lot more fun
i prefer stayin in a single biome, preferably small island since it makes any raids easy to manage
Building without core wood teaches you how to master the support system. Having core wood expands what you can do, iron wood makes it possible to go crazy now that you understand how it works
I think if you just dropped half the building pieces on me at the start id never have built much bc id be overwhelmed, especially as a first time player
true
Plus biome specific bases teach you how to manage raids as a building challenge rather than a purely combat one
Which i also enjoyed
I usually build one big base in Meadows where I stay for the entire playthrough, while setting up minor outposts where needed - to grow barley & flax, mistlands mushrooms, animal farms etc.
same
I do satellite mining bases. Especially if i can find a spot that can double for more than one biome
sometimes i go black forest if haldor is on an island tho
I found it easier to bring the processing to the ore rather than the ore to the processing
Plus i hate spending half my time shipping resources across half the seed to one centralized location
But i love that the game allows that kind of logistical expression for its players
I've had a main base everywhere except Ashlands by now. Swamps are probably the easiest to raidproof since you can just build up in the indestructible trees, but there's options outside moats & terrain walls for all of them.
i'll definitely try to dabble with the idea of giving lategame buildable structures ealier, but they're shit and they can only be upgraded to full potency from the materials of the biome you'd normally get this buildable from
with a mod obviously
Most of my bases are meadows or black forests near the biome
Im mining from, but plains has a special place in my heart since its usually my stone build
Mistlands can get a little spicy with Gjall raids but if you use some black marble to give yourself cover it's not too bad. Greatest issue is that after beating Queen you only get bats and skellies -.-
Yeah. I love sailing in this game, so I build ports, docks and light houses and mark dangerous reefs with cairns or wisplights. Also built stone paved roads between all my outposts on the starting island. Dunno how much stone I've used but it's a lot...
I create a βsubwayβ system of portals near the boss stones as a central hub. Boat materials for crafting benches out to the satellte base location, then mine and process there
wonder how much people would be down to try that mod out
its a different flavor of balancing really
Some in #mods-discussion might
oh also the one thing i hope valheim devs do when game releases is mod update, more precisely where you can submit a mod to steam workshop and just have to subscribe to it to have the mod already in game
Hmm, I think I'm back on action and let's see how Yagluth fight goes on Hard mode.
that'd be dope
now that i can get behind. Better mod support is always a good thing
it increases game longevity by a far far margin
no updates? mods always provide content and keep the game pretty much alive
devs have time to cook updates with this too
because community isn't bored
like seriously
so many devs underimine the power of modding and how making it easier makes the game practically immortal
My only gripe with mods is when people come in and think they need a bezillion mods first time they play the game. Like NO, play the game first and find out if you actually need any mods.. Then they install like 80 mods and their game is broken beyond redemption, and somehow it is the devs fault...
You know we have mod discusion channel right?
true, my bad
No worries π
This is what mods are for.
Huh, Yag on hard was... Harder than expected lol. But now defeated.
support your local mods π
Why do I suddenly and very randomly have a stack of tin ore in my inventory?!?
did you catch a fish?
Not recently, no. Been afk waiting for my asksvin to mate
Magic π
Indeed
I first thought a chest might have been busted by the asksvin, because they keep turning themselves on fire and run around like crazy, but that can't be it because I haven't stored any ore here and I pretty much never stor ore anywhere - I smelt it immediately I get it back to base. Plus it is a full stack, and I haven't mined tin in ages.
Weird...
Playing with anyone that might have dropped it on you for fun?
No, it's my solo world
Huh, really weird
Hah, now I know what it is.
π
Some weeks ago I did go mining for tin, and I tossed some stacks on the ground to climb - and they dropped through the ground. They surfaced after a while - and I thought I picked them all up then, but one must have floated up later and I scooped it up now as I ran past.
Aaaah, yeah makes sense π
Can cultists spawn in the special frost caves that the trader marks
Im like 10 mountains deep of searching for a cultist trophy and cand drop one
I do not think so
Haven't encountered by myself either.
I think it's just bats, starred ulvs and the boss
Yep, also wiki supports this https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Howling_Caverns
-# the bats are also starred btw π
Ahhhhh
Starred ulvs hit like trucks btw. Glass cannons, they are really squishy - but don't let them hit you if you are running stam foods and fenris...
Bats are starred too. But still hardly a challenge.
2 starred bats π
needs to be 20 stared bats π
That's a raid that would cause havoc with our farms..
Disable raids π
No, but they spawn in the raid unlocked by returning the chest to Hildir
fight harder, build roofs and defences
Imagine a vampire troll that when you kill his troll form he breaks into a couple dozen bats.
Hah, that would actually bee cool. And horrible..
Gods, all ashlands foods are veeery mats heavy, no?
No?
Except sala.. ehm, scorching medley, aka Ashlands salad.
HHS or HSS?
And mashed meat is fairly cheap also.
Playing this game solo is so frustrating
Something I haven't even unlocked yet. But all recipies I have so far require a minimum of 2 vineberries plus something else, and since growing those damn berries is so erratic that will be an issue
And simply cooked bonemaw meat.
My staple food so far, I love that they get close to the beach so you can aggro them!
Vineberries are available by the dozens in the Ashlands itself.
Leave a portal near the ruins with vines and pick them berries regularly, bam you have lots of berries.
Those ruins produce berries massively.
All the ruins I have found are out in the ocean, farming from them is downright obnoxious
I built ladders and platforms to farm it until I got seeds, but I'm not going back there unless I really have to
Hmm, keep an eye for bigger ruins inland. Sometimes near shore.
Seen a few, out in the lava. Couldn't see anything but vines and pottery so haven't bothered trying to get out there
Yeah, don't meddle with those, gonna end up badly lol.
Dareyousay drownright obnoxious? π
Knee slapper
Ist Jemand deutsch
English server.
Just started exploring the swamp biome, first playthrough with friends
And god, that poison damage
Now I know why I can make poison resistance mead
I just want to find the dungeons with iron scraps
So I can build with stone, wish me luck
π
I was trying to build an stealth/archer build, but I think I need the bronze armor defense
If it helps:
Leeches can be killed with any bow and wooden arrows.
You can also kill them with a stagbreaker. Although that isn't really "stealthy".
But with both weapons you can kill those creatures from the shore, making you less vulnerable to poison damage.
Hello π everyone anyone trying to play valheim i just reach the swamp biome new at valheim working on trying to kill the swamp monster any tips
"the swamp monster" == ?
the turnip seeds π¨
any tips on optimization? core i7 9th gen, 32gb ddr4 ram, rtx 3060 12gb. it runs well all on ultra, but it lags down to 35 - 40 fps sometimes.
You running all settings on max?
Iβd recommend lowering the lights and shadows settings first like active point lights if you have that set to 40+
First swamp had no crypts but had 3 turnip flowers. Success!
Hello!
Is there an appropriate place to advertise server hosting and/or a discord for server owners to promote their servers, join events, etc?
Thank you!
i am HEIMING
The caves are completely optional
Have you killed Bonemass? Use the item he dropped to find silver ore, hidden under the ground.
I want deep northπ
yo
You need three to spawn the boss. You will probably find more near the boss so you donβt need to take them earlier.
Someone should write all that information down in a wiki......
Oh wait......
have they fixed the copper deposts having massive hitboxes in the recent updates??
i honestly have never successfully collapsed one in my enter 200 hrs of playing
They are not broken so there is nothing to fix π they have to be that big since the pieces that for copper deposit are big, the invisible hitboxes have to be big enough to fit the entire piece while only using right angles
but they are broken.. they could literally be fully floating and still would never collapse
That is not broken, it is just a drawback of the system currently in use
And if you just make a big enough hole and then go from bottom up you will eventually get it to colaps
Nah nothing broken, just heavy industrial mining on a boulder scale (silver veins are just a thin rock-braid in comparison) i play solo or with max a couple friends, gave up popping copper and mine just the surface since there's so much deposits around, overall more time to yield efficient (also because you deal more damage from top with pickaxes)
I always mine all of it since i hate knowing i left something behind π
Eheh i know the feeling, but i stopped doing that also for the sake of awesome black forest landscape (grasses up the area with cultivator once finished mining)
Remember to equip the wishbone!
They are collapseable itβs just really really tricky, if not collapsing the hole is too small. The actual model sometimes sticks out longer than the visual part of the model much more than with silver, so itβs a lot harder to collapse it
Copper nodes are hit and miss for being able to be dug out enough for collapse
The only ones that really can consistently are the ones that are 3/4 exposed already off the side of a hill/cliff
sometimes its not worth the effort, just go to the next one
Is the next update planned to be 1.0?
The next biome update, yes, but we dont know if that will be the very next one or if there will be smaller updates in between π
Ok thank you π
there'll probably be a couple updates before its all rolled into 1.0 but who knows. they may throw-out 1.0 and then patch it with 1.1 or something
Any updates and patches after 1.0 will not be content ones but bug fixes and optimizations π
anyone wanna play?
#1024264966712340510 π
every game ive ever played that ive joined a discord too the lfg channel always sucks and takes a million years, but great way for you to try suck up to get mod role by letting me know something i knew already i was only casually asking if anyone felt like playing lmao
What is the possibility for valheim to implement redstone?
Quick Question, is the "Frostnar" a good Weapon?
My my, who pissed in your cereal today? π
the dog
I would say it is π
Silver sword is better in my opinion, but frostnar will give crub levels which is useful for late game weapons
Okay thanks! π Also for the Mountains??
Frostner has great elemental dmg which is great in the next 2 biomes π
I have to agree. Mistwalker out-does frostnir quickly
Okay good too know thanks!
Frostner is good, but for boss and the "troll lvl" enemy iron mace would be better π
as a sword guy, my silver sword tends to out-damage frostner from skills.
Good to know
Oh i prefer swords too π but frostner is just really good weapon (tho i dont use it much since hecking knockback)
Is rocky still in the game?
Thank you!
Yep π
Nice and I just look on hillsides for him?
I often take the bow strategy against any enemies, but the spectre scares me lol, gonna hunt In swamp only In the day
Doesent have to be on hillsides, anywhere in meadows or black forest if they are at least 1000m from spawn and between 5m and 20m in altitude π (can also technically be found in swamps and mountains but the altitude requirement prevents that pretty well) also only in terrain unexplored before april 1st π
do i have to pay to set up a server?
Thanks though I will find him on a new seed
Did you explore all the black forest and meadows on your current seed?
It doesn't have to be a new world, just somewhere you hadn't been before the update
Yeah I have explored almost everything
Would be painful to find those biomes far out
Thanks for the info though π
Is there any tool that lets you plant multiple crops at once?
Nope, but there is one that lets you harvest multiple at once π
yeah I got that one. That's why I asked haha
Well, I guess we are stuck to planting 1 crop at a time. Thanks
Its really not that bad π kind of relaxing if you ask me
Heh, last playthrough i had a field where to fully fill it i had to go through the entire durability and then some of a lvl3 cultivator xD
You usually don't need to plant that many, unless you're in multiplayer. And if you are, get your friends to help you
Yeah I might be overdoing it (playing solo)
Me too
i just really like bulk farming and crafting
Jesus christ, buddy.
somebody have the m2 modpack discord ?
Try #mods-discussion π
There's a mod for it, if I'm not mistaken.
But you'd better ask about that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
I've been running around the swamps for 3 in-game days now but I still can't find turnips..
Only if you want a dedicated one
Those are a pain to find indeed.
Try another swamp, maybe that'll work π€
I found about 4 and only 2 had turnips.
Gonna be worth it after u get that jack-o-turnip
π€
zero
Any eta on when deep north releases?
Nope.
The only info we have is "it wont be soon" π
And we might get some new info from monthly dev blog. It will appear in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 usually during the end of the month.
Nah, I'm pretty sure they would tell us (this discord's members) specifically and not literally anyone else. We have privilege and priority over all other valheim-related communities.
That's why those questions always make a lot of logic and sense to ask
Absolute zero, or like 0.0001%?
Next april fools, maybe π€
no.
0,00000000000000000000000000000000%
since we do our pranks ingame usually, it's not even going to be a joke
Good. π€£
Yeah, good habit, honestly. Makes the jokes feel meant for the community of Valheim itself, rather than a potential jab or commentary on smth else.
We already have redstone. You use it for the blood enchantment. π
i found redstone in a chest, Haldor gave me 20 quid for that!
are they making the deep north thingy
Which 'deep north thingy'?
like they made the ashlands have content i heard they were making the deep north have content too
Do you know some way to avoid spawning valkyries near your base in ashlands? It's realy anoying because they're so strong and spawns right after i defeat the first one.
Spawn protection, same as any other biome.
Of course.
yaayyyy
Why wouldn't they?
idk do we know how far it is in development
The only info we have is that it wont be out soon π
aw
||but no. we don't say how much since we might cut something or add something. and then a "progress bar" would be completely wrong||
oh ok thank u
Hello, I want to make the staff of embers a single target weapon and available in the mountains.
What would you guys consider fair or balanced?
50 blunt
50 fire
Eitr cost: 35
Would this be balanced?
But it is a mistlands weapon...
Ah, then #mods-discussion might be able to help π
dam
no. @azure yacht have broken totally and sarcasm level is over 9000
Yeah. Ashlands looks like it will keep me occupied until Deep North arrives - and beyond. Only beat the old bug queen a few weeks ago. There's no need to rush things π
Will ashvine climb an earth wall?
Nope, only actual walls you build
Shame, but thanks
is there a way to know how much time we have spent on a game ? just for curiosity
Steam counts your hours, but if you mean in the world then only estimation via day number, which is quite inacurate
ooh didn't think about that, but yeah as long as there are nights we pass and others we don't..
yes
The stats command can be used to see how much time a character has played on a world
sorry what is the stats command ?
stats tells you days, hours, minutes spent in a world
and all worlds that character ever visited
Write /stats on chatbox by pressing Enter first, then press Enter again and use PgUP and PgDn to navigate the stats showing.
that simple x) thank you !
That simple, yeh.
I haven't finished Ashlands yet, but what happens with the Dvergs, after you defeat the queen lore wise, are they saved somehow or still lost in the mistlamds, with just the queen being gone?
Defeating the queen doesn't really affect them
They just mind their business as usual.
I know, but lore wise.
They had already locked her up so she wasn't bothering them anyway
Idk, maybe she was the cause for the mist and investations?
I would assume that with the queen dead, no more spawn can come from her and so the seekers would die out eventually.
So that's why I asked.
I would love to see the Dvergs hail the Norseman as a hero and haldor mentioning his graditude or smth like that, if it where the case.
Asksvin are quite the climbers, I had to pen them in well with cage roof, they just kept escaping to wreak havoc on the meadows countryside...
They were saying hi to their family
By eating them π
why?
they are litterally going into valheim to loot the place
while you are there to kill stuff π
Haldor? Grateful?? π
I don't understand the lore very well, but didn't some of the Dvergs get stuck in the Mistlands? Wouldn't they appreciate the help?
Didn't even know we could see stats, neat!
Finally explored the swamp this time, ngl I feel like I lost some years off my life span
Fought a Spectre and Abomination, felt my soul leaving my body
The life and poison meads saved me
we did that a while ago
I'm grateful for it π
Anyone wanna hop on a server with me?
im down
Kinda. Been playing for 20hrs now. I'll say I'm familiar but yes still new
I get home from work in about an hour, so think y'all will be available then?
yeah im down
Bet. I'll pm you my steam
Okay. I'll be inviting you to my world
π
Booting up computer
alright
Just completed my first sail, and I think my heart stopped since I saw an ocean serpent
Nice, more scary stuff on the way.
If you want a small hint:
Make sure to keep your eyes out for small suspicious looking ||Islands||.
There might be smth you want from there, so bring a pickaxe.
... Thank you, but I think I wont be able to sleep today, I found something In the snow that was Doctor Who like, when I shot an arrow, It toke 1 damage and dissapeared
I'm playing on my friends server, got bored and just started exploring, but I got traumatized after the swamp, oceans and a ghost from doctor who
And I just wanted some iron lmao
I only have 1, getting out of bronze age
Killed an Spectre and Abomination for this iron
But ngl, my new favorite game
And there's alot more for you to discover!
I'm excited but I don't know how much my heart can handle lol
I just searched basic things on the wiki, didnt thing there was this much to the game
But your nightmare isn't Immortal, just follow my hint and face it again.
Will do, my eyes are open
Trust me, it will be worth it.
Thank you! If I get scared by these islands I will come back to see you!
And as long as the enemy has an hp bar I can do It
Ofcourse, feel free to ping me any time.
I'm only afraid by the ships hp
Then get the ship, which is iron tier.
Will do, as soon as I find a swamp with crypts!
Got 10 poison resistance mead and the same for life mead
Good choice
It saved me from the abomination and then It dropped me the iron scrap
I'm the one who Is mostly online In the server, so I don't have backup In these moments
Also, there is a chest piece you can make from the root Abominations drop, which has Pierce resistance.
You'll need this for the biome after the Mountains.
When I reach there I will already have 30 meads In my Inventory and the big iron shield π Not playing around after the ocean stuff
If you see a place which looks like heaven and golden fields, while Sailing.
Don't go near without this item.
I thought It was just a goofy cool game until today
Thank you! Going to sleep soon here, will explore more tomorrow, will remember your hints! Good night
Same here, see you around
Just gonna put a lot of meads to make while Im afk
Do you have raids on?
I do, we just won the second boss fight yesterday
I made the wood fences all around base to protect It
Then one can start when you're afk.
It often does, the owner gets afk there
It won't do, especially when you defeated the swamp boss.
Yeah ... I saw the trolls, as soon as I get another Iron I will make the stone thing
This ruins the game for me, but you can also dig a mote, which they can't break, nor get out off.
I could, but I want the fun too
If they break In I can use It as an excuse to rebuild the base and make it pretty lol-
Good excuse
But yeah, I'm not that worried with the base, Its kinda steady and simple, I can quickly repair things and build the fences again. Gonna watch some JoJo and sleep, see ya cool person!
is there a good servers any one can recommend with a good list of mods? figured theres probaly one out there instead of setting it up myself?
#1024264966712340510 and people should have their info posted in their thread.
The decision to invalidate the metal from pre-patch Ashlands is so shitty. Like it's bad enough that you can't play in a server that already explored the biome but on top of that the stuff you collected just stays worthless. Obnoxiously punishing for people who don't wanna start over from the beginning. Literal slap in the face to players who decided to keep exploring while waiting for more content.
im coming back to the game after awhile, did they disable pufferfish damage to mobs for farming?
Strange opinion, but I think the reasons is the devs wanted people to feel a sense of pride for achieving the aquisition of flametal, not just mine it in utter safety
and I m saying that as someone who has about 500 ancient metal across my old worlds
You went to a biome that didn't exist yet and mined resources that had no purpose and you're surprised that being somewhere with no purpose and collecting things with no purpose had.... no purpose?
That's a bold take...
More disappointed than surprised. You'd think they'd do something to acknowledge that it existed (besides changing the name). Some random chair or something idk.
The game is in beta
There are going to be some things that donβt work or are patched out until the game is actually finished π
They gave a cloak to the super early players. Is it too much to ask for a random useless build for the people who went exploring (the purpose of the game) during the first few years of the game?
I get it, it would have been nice to have some use for the old flametal, but itβs not something that everyone can get their hands on once the game gets to 1.0
No, no I would never even consider the possibility of thinking that. lol
Maybe not - ask in suggestions
They may change their mind about it
It wouldnβt be obtainable for players who generate da world post Ashlandβs tho
It shouldnβt have a use
Unless you forcefully revert your game to pre-Ashlands release
Which will break stuff soooβ¦
That's why it'd be a useless build. Just something to do with the item. Not a weapon or anything progression related.
The only reason it was kept in was probably to not break old worlds where players decided to go into an unfinished placeholder biome
Yes but that wouldnβt be fair for players generating world post Ashlandβs who may also want this item
Devcommands exist
Which make your character count as a cheater and would probably disable achievements in 1.0
Tell that to players who want a Cape of Odin lol
devcommands are not an option for all people...there are folks that do consider it cheating and do not want to do it... so that is NOT a good option
you want them to pour resources into satisfying a very niche problem that only exists because you went somewhere where you werenβt supposed to
"Pour resources" is a little dramatic
Hey, if you want to leave a note asking for changes, you should post one in suggestions or upvote one that already exists
Your conversation is gonna get lost in here at some point
The devβs will at least look through the suggestions board
I did both already
I'd also present the argument that it was reasonable for players to think old Flametal was worth collecting. For "future content" that was available before the Mistlands update we only had the fifth boss drop and Flametal ore.
-End of Plains? Placeholder item.
-Old Mistlands? Just aesthetics, no items.
-Old Ashlands? Surtlings and Flametal.
-Old Deep North? Just aesthetics.
From the player perspective, it's not unreasonable to think "They gave us this item with a name. I wonder what use it'll have in the future."
I doubt anyone who visited old Ashlands thought "This is a cool metal I bet it'll be worthless after the update."
I find it incredibly unreasonable, as a player.
You're right. They probably thought, I'm an unfinished biome I shouldn't take anything for granted.
If they were planning to make it worthless then the old Ashlands rocks should've just dropped Stone or Coal or something
No?
There were no plans. It was undeveloped.
If they dropped stone, you'd be taking it for granite. π
And to be honest no one including the devs probably spent time thinking on what to do with old ashlands placeholder stuff, the focus was always on the future not on what to do with things that got put there during Captain Placeholder times!
does anyone know the multiplayer difficulty scaling numbers?
Wiki has them.
valheim wiki site has all info
alr thanks guys
Yes, a lot to ask.
The one that you can't wear?
And promptly ignore it because I'm certain that is something that just won't change.
guys is build a base in meadows (mainland that u spawn) ok?
im about to start build a base but im not sure that should i build something good that im gonna live all game
or will I need to change my base no matter what happens in the endgame?
im pre-bonemass
You never need to change your base but players often move for the fifth biome
ashland?
Plains
why do people change their place for that biom?
Their meadows base would be too far from the biomes they need, and more crops can be planted in plains.
But meadows is always the best biome because you can have a neck pond by your base
β€οΈ
i hate those bastard :3
back in the time they were attacked me 5 people
and my base rn is close to bf
so i dont see them that much
some plants can only grow in plains
hence why many people make either a 2nd base there, or move entirely
Like peeps have said, you can move to gain access to more crops and different types of food, but honestly, it is entirely optional
I moved my base onto a mountain cause I lived the visuals, but now I canβt grow any food so I have to go walk around whenever I get hungry π
Let yourself be flexible - if you like a biome, build a base in it
You wonβt regret making nice bases in this game π₯°
I have a house in the meadows, mountains, ||mistlands|| and ||Ashlands||, purely because I like those biomes and wanted to live there
I made a pseudo plains biome base, but it is more of a spot to show up, plant crops, and run away again - itβs not like I live there in any real sense π
I need to change that actually π€
Anyone else relate to the pain and shame of dying in a world you intended to be a perma death run but then decide to just keep playing anyways?
Well, I keep dying in Elden Ring but still love playing at it so... I must be a little masochist π ππ
Eh - it happens π
Just keep playing for the fun of it
I got to the point where I was almost ready to fight moder before I got stoked
Canβt remember what did me in π
Well that was scary.
My very first Putred hole (only one core, sads) popped a 2-star morgen.
It is now boarded up with a sign saying NONONO at the entrance. I may never go back in there.
I hope when the deep north releases I can make my character any colour
dunno. Viking Warriors and Shieldmaidens tended to be nordic.
I just want to make him green
guys whats the hardest boss in the game?
For me it was yagluth
The queen is the only boss who has killed me but it was my first time using magic so I did everything wrong
Depends on how you play
Iβd say it was fader, but like blobi said, itβs normally adjusting to playstyle that gives you a difficulty spike
My friends and I spent a good few hours fighting moder and Yagluth due to difficulties with other mobs and running out of barley wine
The queen was the easiest to work with
Killed her oneshot
Fader was also easy cause I abused magic
Bonemass I cheesed with frost arrows π
so i wanna ask, are "power combos" a known thing by the devs and allowed to exist
They are a bug
I don't think the developers plan on removing them. They have been known for a long time by now
yeah, i hope that if they ever do remove them they at least add official seperate combo routes for weapons...
Just run away when she gets close
I know how to deal with her now, this was a long time ago
Even my first time I just ran
I was focusing too much on spawning and shielding my skeletons so I didn't have enough eitr to protect myself
My first time I fought her with melee weapons so I was generally running towards her
My first time I went in with full wizard because I knew she was resistant to physical
Despite her taking me over an hour throwing fire at her was fun as fuck
The best valheim boss
I prefer Fader
I saw the vid ππ€
KROM!!! π‘
Hopefully the deep north boss is worthy of being a favourite
I really want multiple bosses to fight together
I died using krom π
My greatest shameβ¦
Was doing SO well fighting the queen (had demolisher for baby bugs) and had her down to like 1-2 hits of hp.
Then I got greedy and she onetapped me ππ
Lmao it scared the shit out of me
Not fought him yet
Endgame:
final boss ||winter child|| spawns all bosses with minions to make life miserable
One piece of good adviceβ¦
Donβt fight him near lava π
You run out of space real quick
Itβd be cool if the final boss was someone our size
Like malenia from Elden ring being the hardest boss whoβs the same size as us
||What if the winter child has already killed the deep north forsaken but is keeping the trophy so you can't leave to Valhalla without killing him, and halfway through the fight he uses the forsaken power for a second phase?||
Could just be Loki
From Smiffe's profile:
Is maybe Loki, or Loki is Smiffe
This would mean we're fighting Smiffe as the final boss?
Whoβs smiffe?
whats the point of the game everything is cheesable
The most active developer in this server
The only boss I cheesed was moder
i mean it also depends what difficulty your playing right?
But that's not fun
excactly
what do you do in the game after you beat all bosses and minibosses?
When 1.0 releases the game will have an ending after all main bosses are defeated and their trophies are brought to the sacrificial stones
well thats sad
The only reason I cheesed moder was because I hate using a bow
Finally having a way to beat valheim is sad?
no but like it didint get alot of updates in the past 5 years yk
It's a small team working on a big game, development takes time
or 4 idk but they should definitly continue on the game
We did get plenty of updates
no you didint lol
How many is 'plenty' to you?
Probably one every month or something... Since it is such a big studio...
i mean if you count patch notes as ''updates'' sure
Yes, yes we did.
Patches are updates, yes.
well, since the game was realeased in 2021, we had pretty much everything this past 4 years...
okay but talking about update updates not patch notes i dont count that
Every update has patch notes
2 new bosses and mini bosses and a new biome
There you have your problem π
no, everything, 4 years ago the game didn't exist
Two new biomes, mistlands and ashlands didn't exist in early access release
Two new biomes, two new NPCs, reworked combat, reworked food system, quests...
Well, it did, but for around 3 months π
yall acting like thats alot for 4 years i understand its a small team i respect it but if you compare it to other games its nothing
I think you don't get how much work it represents already.
It IS a lot.
yep x)
yeah for valheim its alot your right
Stop comparing it to other games then, unless you're comparing it to other games made by a similar studio size.
Considering it's one of the most interesting game for its gameplay. Now studios are to much focused on graphics and gameplay doesn't evolve anymore
Iron Gate is doing a really, REALLY great job
Every time I make a new world it is addictive again
ik they are the game is great
As a 3D animation and game student, we learn some code, VFx etc, and we had trouble just to make teleportation portals work correctly. Just that simple thing can induce so many bug
I can only admire what a small team like Iron Gate succeeded to do in only 4 years
Quality over quantity
true
Even after 2700+ hours of playtime that attack gives shivers.
but the thing is the quality as in bosses are all cheesable
What do you even do for 2700 hours in valheim?
What does that have to do with quality?
People will always find a way to cheese things
Challenge runs, play new updates, build, play with others..
Just.. Play? Been playing the game since 2021 lol.
I enjoy some challenges like different deathless runs.
wdym litertally everything if the quality of the bosses are good there shouldnt be any problems
To be fair I have spent over 1000 hours on terraria
The bosses ARE good. Them being technically cheesable doesn't change that.
I've seen some people here with over 8000 hours in Valheim lol.
uhm, i'm around 1400 and i feel i'm not even close to a quarter of what i would like to do, build, experiment as combat styles and/or difficulty settings, so maybe at 2700 i'll feel kinda halfway thru, all this with game not even finished yet
I for now have 666 hours on Valheim... π π
no joke, I can take a screenshot x)
that's very metal π€
I was not prepared for that XD
29 hours more and it will be my most played game ^^
according to Steam
does change the quality definitly im not complaining tho its always uncheesable tho
It definitely sounds like a complaint.
Around 2250 hours to reach my most played game lol.
And I have not played that game in years lol. But played it a lot when I was younger.
there are just so much things to do, so much work to finish and so much games to play x))
that's crazy
For me some 1950 hours to get to my most played π
I find that impossible to comprehend
I think because Iβve only been playing valheim for like a year
I think that's even more than Smiffe.
Odin help us π
#screenshots message This was the highest I found with quick search.
Thatβs terrifying
Welcome to the endless abyss of Valheim π
You will never leaveβ¦
Because you donβt want too π
it's crazy how addictive this game is ^^'
last time I played was July, I made a new world last week and it already took the place of every other games x)) (currently The Witcher 3 and Elden Ring)
No, we never leave because the game has no ending yet. We just waiting for IG to add DN and release us all to Valhalla.
Some games are just that good π₯°
Who says Iβm gonna even if DN is finished?
If valhalla doesnβt let me build my own house and drink mead I ainβt interested π
does valhalla have necks?
Blobi asking the important questions in life
To quote βοΈ : "What would Rocky do?"
Miss that guy βοΈ
True, you can cheese many bosses by just playing mage in elden ring. Literal garbage quality that game...
and from an actual playable and viable class
Flawless logic
I wonder how many of those hours are AFK
Our skill expressionist is not in our precense sadly.
Although, he mentioned about his finals for this Spring. Wondering if he left temporarily for that reason.
Hopefully he returns afterwards π€
Me and buddy have put our Valheim on hold until after his finals, but Iβm itching to play more!
You would just lurk in those situations. I gather it's a permanent situation
Which situation?
Scales' departure.
Ah. Maybe it didn't catch my eye then.
Is it ok to DM you @vocal rivet?
I would imagine so.
They're wearable by a special dlc link from an email that was only sent to the earliest players. Anyone can devcommand them in but wearing them is exclusive to the most veteran of players.
Pretty sure Rianu is aware.
I'd think most people who've heard of it would know that but their comment made it seem like they didn't
Not really, given the context.
I just think it'd be nice of them to acknowledge the early players with a glowy chair that gives no comfort or something dumb like that. Can't even display the ingots on any stand type object so they literally just take up chest space until you turn them into Coal.
Not this again...
Early players got the Odin cape. That's it.
And yes, I have zero idea why Nuge is restarting the conversation.
Sorry I just saw that other response. Can leave it alone at this point.
The initial comment was after launching my old server and finding that my chest of future cool stuff was now a chest of trash and just being frustrated over it
I don't see why anyone should be rewarded for foolishly hoarding a resource that we had no idea would remain or not.
As a final point then, am I forgetting something else or is this the only thing that had no purpose at launch and also never gained a purpose?
Only asking out of curiosity cause I can't think of anything else.
It was the only really tangible item in unfinished biomes. Mistlands and Deep North were completely empty.
I remember some people complaining on Reddit (not surprisingly) that their efforts were vanished because of the change. Serves them right.
Hm, can't find my old message (died in the hack) where I said 'it'd be funny if it ends up not being usuable in the finished biome'.
Hola
Deep north coming in 2025 or 2026 π
It's coming. That's all we know.
Might as well be 2050.
Having seen my Ashlands swamp house crumbling and trees sinking into the Ocean, I now have to mentally prepare to watch my Deep North sttone fortress crumble
Is it just me or is valheimβs combat similar to Elden ring
There are similarities but overall they feel very different
I think they feel similar
In what ways are they similar? π€
You can roll π
The buttons
They're both on keyboard?
Iβm on Xbox, so light attack is rb, heavy attack is rt, and block is lb, itβs the same for Elden ring
Oh, so that's the similarity. They're both better on PC.
I like Xbox tho
can there be 2 frost caves in one mountain
Yes
Yep! Can be multiple really, especially in large mountain biomes.
are they also dependant on range from spawn or can be any mtn?
After sailing, I finnaly found a island with a big swamp and a crypt π Iron age Is here
The 53 hours on Valheim In the last 8 days paid back
And we found Haldor too
does anyone have a world where i could repair my carapace armor? i got back on the game and all of my worlds were gone. any help would be much appreciated
You could ask around in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Someone in there might give you a hand.
However, if your worlds are gone and you don't have the backup anymore, you may as well start over on a new world until you get to Mistlands and repair the items yourself.
It might take a tad longer, but eventually you'll get a much better feel for the game.
Guess who just found out chickens dont have a pen size limit like the other tameable creatures
Came home with about 100 chickens walking around my kitchen and my hearth full of feathers and meat
well, lots of food!
And arrows. π
Thank you!
10 in 10m.
The thing keeping me alive In this game Is the secret Joestar technique
i fucked up with my farm because i made it away from my house, i should buy new eggs make a farm home
Wait until you learn the Joemama technique π
Turn on creative mode and make one
Did not think of that! Thank you!!
Yw
sup, when is the update, guys?
Not yesterday or today for sure
When it's ready.
You'll know if you keep an eye on https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816
One day Smiffe will make a bot that auto-deletes these π
That's after he got bored with the bot posting his "when"-Gif, I think.
For the ashlands there was a command that showed this message:
"Ashlands will be released in first half 2024
There will be public test beta"
π
Maybe something similar would be preferable to a bot deleting stuff.
IF we get a PTB. It's very unlikely we do have that one, although Smiffe hasn't given us a reply about whether or not we're having one yet.
Huh?
We have carts that dont require rails π
Does this look like Minecraft?
π€·ββοΈ
yea
Oh i am not saying there will be π its literally copy pasted message from when dyno was just disabled and i kinda took over his role of telling people that
I think it looks more like Jumanji, considering we got The
in this game.....
Other games might suit you better.
Some with carts you find cooler π
WEll, if you want trams, look at Transport Fever 2.
It also has rails in it....
Oh and horse carts too.
I'll take a Valheim cart over a hollow cube with one face missing any day
I don't know, something not based in a fictional fantasy realm with undead Vikings perhaps.
Roblox
If you're asking about mods before even trying the game its probably wrong for you.
Some things take a good bit of exploring
Sail on a clear day, you'll see em
additionally, you can get Hildir's quest and look for howling cavern marks
it's not guarenteed to be a large mountain but you're guarenteed a dungeon (even if it's a dangerous one)
.... the what?
Got the 15 medium health and 15 poison resistance meads to explore the Crypts with my friends
Good luck!
That gives you 2,5 hours of exploring with poison resistance π
Well, I will probably share It with another three people, but I can always make more! I have some beehives at our base
And now that I told them we loose levels and exp from dying ... I think they won't play around too
If you're going to explore the sunken crypts, bring a bow and some flint arrows with you.
If you're in a group, let someone bring Stagbreaker too as well.
Mine down the muddy scrap piles, but not all of them. That way not a single monster can get to you and you can kill them with the bow and / or Stagbreaker.
Skill levels are really not that important π they are nice to have but thats about it
Don't listen to the nay sayers!
Skills are not important, but they make your life MUCH easier
Thank you! I always have some flints arrow, and I will bringk the Stagbreaker, ty ty!
high run / jump skill?
Easy exploration
I love skills, It reduces stamina usage and increase damage
High block/weapon skill?
π
Sometimes I just grab some of the little tree guys to Improve the shield one
It really makes a difference later
Don't even get me started on just how good high skill levels are when you start using ||magic||
It already matters to me now! I usually prefer skills and etc instead of relying on just armor! It makes me feel more safe and that I'm not who I am cause of the items
Omg, can't wait to get magic, first Im gonna get some irons to build stone walls and a pickaxe to get some loots from the mountains
The Joemama joke didn't land... sorry. π
And I'm gonna hunt abominations too
LMAO, I was waiting for It, curiosity always win over me
I don't know why ... but running Is always around 10 levels higher than any other skill I have ...
That is because you usually run pretty much anywhere π
Me... with swim at 93..m
Secret Joestar Technique1
Exactly
... I was thinking about leveling It up ... but 93 ....
Well, everyone has their preferred stats!
I needed something to do while smelting 1700 iron.
Mine Is whatever keeps me alive longer
Pfffttt, I just got my first iron
I always love when the game pop ups 100 new crafts
Load smelters. Swim. Collect iron.
Repeat until done.
After running and fighting for my life against Specret, Daughrs and a Abomination
In hind sight I could have made more than 3 smelters...
My friends build a lot of them, we don't even have enough coal pffft
errr....bows?
I now have 5 because it's easier to work in multiples of 100 coal.
We have like, 6 or 7 I think
VERY nice to have π necessary? nope
6 I can get because that is 2 ore stacks.
7 is just the work of psychopath.
I mean it's not "necessary" to have weapons either - as long as they can outdamage enemy health regen
... My group and me aren't the most sane
or armor, or food - what's the line of "necessary"?
One of my bros was fighting against a Troll with his bare hands ... while dodging all the attacks rolling ...
3's and 5's are the only multiples smelters should be done in π
Though I do wish the coal input was on the back...
Damage or DPS?
Damage is only 30% but the attack speed gain is the real bonus.
Dont get me wrong, i am in no way against having high skills, but too often players dwell too much on that and even sometimes quit the game because their skill levels drop π
.#JusticeForArbalests
.#NerfBows
Yeahh, I always need to aim my camera correctly to burn the material ... And I think I will make more two furnaces to get 9 ... hehe
9 is also good because that's 3 stacks of material to burn.
It really bothers me losing the levels, but I can always just get It back, It helps me cause I started playing 8 days ago and Im still learning a lot of things
If the coal input was in the back you could line them up more nicely π
Keep at it
My friend didnt understand when I got 53 hours against his 15 in 8 days ...
Remember that the game is balanced around you having zero in all skills.
They are just free stats. So losing them shouldn't bother you π«
Thank you, will remember that!
And you can always smelt more iron when you need to get your swim back π
Need to log off for a while to do dishes and In around 1 and a half hours I think my friends will join, the despair will be big in the swamp!!!
Lmao π€£
Swamp is what I just got to in my current run.
Rebuilding house while turnips grow. But no iron yet.
Brb to chat with you guys!
