its german π
Whats going on?
Yeah exactly what I'm sayingπ
btw @topaz patio my discord got spam warning by your account, dont know why ^^
Captured an asksvin in my compound and thought I'd try to tame it, so when I tossed it a puff it promply jumped up on my raised platform. Scared me to death... Managed to push it back down before it started wrecking stuff, phew. But seems I need to make my platform higher...
Idk why this is happening actually I'm getting online here after 2 weeks so maybe that's why
Maybe they are
@lunar sapphire Sorry my dear, you can help ? Hannah is no spamer, can we change this ?
Are you a bot?
bots are never such confusing, π
We have to out evolve them, become omnipotent
How is it going for everyone?
An idiot
Hello! A person who knows they are on a train but doesn't know how to exit it could be described as a "passenger who is aware of their presence on the train but is unsure of how to disembark." chatgpt π
We aware that this is the #valheim-chat channel right?
Yes, Sir π
Hello!
dont worry, we are here 4u π
I got interested and poked our fighter π
Subject
if Hannah is a bot, he will find it^^
Look, now you are wasting my time
iirc its a discord thing, not a server thing. the dude did something (most likely got hacked and spammed a bunch of links to friends/servers) and discord flagged it. need to contact the support.
often happens when people get hacked, then recover the accounts, but discord forgets to remove that
@topaz patio please write Discord support, so you get unflagged again π
sure
i think "Ai" gets to good and some may get to afraid
It's real easy. Just ask them to say something offensive
LLM filters will block the sentence, and you'll get a "Sorry, I can't do that" answer
@lunar sapphire do we go on in this game or stop and check
i mean man, maybe just let it go and accept it's just a dude who probably does half of posting via a translator?
Because saying "You're an AI" isn't being one?
now this sounds like chatgpt
And time is a physical property of the universe. Clocks only show simultaneity, and THAT doesn't exist
Why, because they stopped posting? Just after they've been advised to contact Discord support?
π€
So has anyone played with any good communities for a full Valheim server with 10 people?
yes
Like how was it?
I'm more of a solo/with friends person
Discord works in mysterious ways D:
Or it could be someone following good advice. Now, instead of being an asshole calling random people AI, you could have just flagged a local mod to explain why you think they're an LLM.
But you did agree to follow the local rules when you joined
With always active 10 people or..?
You assume a mastery of the language they may not possess
And doubled down after that
Uh I guess. I never considered half the people inactive. I was picturing in my head one large playthrough.
There are people come and go, yeah
Language is used to express concepts. Each language shows of the relevant culture sees and understands the world, so expressions differ between languages. The platonic ideal of universal ideas is pretty stupid in itself
And a low level of mastery of a foreign language adds to those differences
I do play on one, usually 3~5 players online
Hm, alright. Now for my next question.
Any builders here? I got a baby girl coming next month that I hope to play Valheim with in 5 years. Any baby crib build ideas?
Why bro started talking like an AI
I did, hence my remarks
Oi.
@lavish shuttle and @verbal bluff
This is an interesting discussion youβve got going, but itβs not related to Valheim in any sense
#general is more suitable for this
Well spotted π
But Iβm from the colonies so my grasp of the language has a distinguished lack of Posh π
A firepit
That would workβ¦
Curses!
He guessed correctly! π
I cannot not respond to such excellent guess work π€
LoL π
please. this is #valheim-chat and not "facebook and AI chat
Translation: Speak about valheim
why are you tagging people
your opinion doesn't matter, it's server rules
3 times?
Ok seems like there was a nuke just now and I look like I'm talking to myself so π₯²
Back on track
Yup, I tried replying and an app stopped me
Welcome back to Valheim β€οΈ

By the by, Iβve joined you in that 2* Asksvin hunt
I am not too hopeful that I shall succeed considering how long youβve been at it ππ
Have you even found one yet @exotic cradle ?
Of course not
Well, we will see which one of us getβs lucky first π₯³ β€οΈ
But then again i haven't really been looking that hard, I played an entirely different world since that
Decoration or death (and death)
Yes and tbh since I accomplished it I dunno what to do anymore
I got grausten and ashwood, feels like goal is complete
Does the staff of protection only last for 1 minute?
took about 200 ingame days (could be done in less, I just wasted time ofc)
Well you got some
time increase with skill I think
How do i increase blood magic skill? I only have protection staff
casting and when bubble burst I think
The bubble took 1 hit from a seeker soldier, why did I get this?
you get 0.75xp per skeleton hitting a creature, 0.5xp per skeleton bow hit a creature, 1xp per shield breaking from damage (only works for shield tht your character has, the shields on other creatures do not give you any xp)
depends how you use it. As a full mage you don't want to be in range
As a battle mage, you might only use it to tank a few hits.
Dont think of the bubble as a shield but as your hp, you wouldnt let yourself get hit until you have no hp right? π
Time increases based on the staffβs upgrade level
Level 1 = 1 minute
Level 4 = 4 minutes
A seeker does a lot of pierce dmg even with a shield
And how much dmg it blocks is reliant on the blood magic lvl π
The staveβs ability to block damage increases with your skill level
Mine blocks almost 1k damage before it pops π«§
also remember to mix and match gear, you can still use heavy pieces of armor or root armor to negative dmg or pierce dmg
max is 700 π
Not necessary, just recast the bubble if it breaks, until it breaks you dont recieve any dmg
So I just have to grind
depends on a person build
Yes, but even previously you said that even with bubble shield seeker does lots of pierce dmg, which is incorrect
Memory is bad apparently π
not sure you understood what I said
Well it is close-ish to 1K π just not quite so much i would go with that number
Agreed π
You said "A seeker does a lot of pierce dmg even with a shield" while you were reffering to this "The bubble took 1 hit from a seeker soldier, why did I get this?" , what else could you mean?
seekers do a lot of pierce dmg even with a shield. So regardless of a bubble seekers still do a lot of dmg. I fail to understand how you think that is incorrect
Because you do not recieve any dmg if your bubble shield is up.
obviously
but dmg is taken by the shield and seekers do a lot of it...
I think you just misunderstood what I was saying
Possibly
The shield takes full damage, armor and damage modifiers don't reduce it until the shield is broken
That's why attacks with chop or pickaxe damage break it so fast
what? That comment had nothing to do with shield just that you can play a mage with mix gear so when a bubble burst you don't die instantly bcos of low HP of dmg resist
Thats the point, if you keep bubble up its very hard to die
my bubble has burst and Ive been hit instantly afterwards, getting a new bubble in the middle of the fight can be a perilous
I getcha
I died like 3-4 times recently after a break from Valheim
Then I realised what I did wrong
I was in melee range with mobs as a mage
Ashlands is the only biome I don't go full mage because you can be swarmed quickly so I mix mage with Flametnal armor just in case I need to sword and shield
So I changed my tactics and stayed at a distance
Made it much easier to kill things and stay alive even if they popped my bubble
Has some close calls - was playing in Ashlands as well - but I always survived by using every tool in my magical arsenal
Skeletons, trolls, wild staff, dundr, ice stave, embers
I literally have every possible mage stave on my and play like anything that touches me is gonna kill me
Itβs the only way to play full mage down there
Same, its chaotic but feels dangerous so roll a bit of both now
How can I level up magic fast?
srsly, Ashlands can feel like its ganging up on you.
2 Morgen, Valkrie, 3 Ashkins, marksmen, tweakers, swordmen, vultures all coming after you
hey guys
I built a draugr farm just for leveling magic.
How do you do that?
started valheim recently and defeated eikthyr
find a draugr farm with 3-4 spawners, usually found in meadows near swamp
clear out all of the stuctures, build platforms over spawners so they get stuck and away you go
I forgot draugr spawners were a thing
Blood magic - use skeletons a lot
Elemental magic - use ice stave a lot
You gain xp per hit on an enemy
spawn a few trolls then ice them
quite boring but if you do it in mislands you can have some fun with dvergr as well
Jump casting is one way to keep your movement while getting the shield.
Can you please recommend a mod to show what exactly improves with swords and other items with their level?
has anyone ever crafted an item instead of upgrade then realise you have two π€¦
Many times π mainly in first few hundred hours but still happens sometimes even after thousand
Yeah - itβs annoying.
Normally only happens when distracted
now I have 2 dundr and I don't even want 1 coz it sucks
Dundr and staff of fracturing have more significant damage increases as they upgrade compared to other weapons because the damage is copied for each projectile, so at level 1 they might not feel as powerful as they should be.
its still elemental dmg though right, so even max level 3 both are underwhelming
But even with more damage, being unable to dodge while dundr reloads isn't fun
What about the elemental damage is underwhelming? Lightning damage applies stagger so it is mechanically similar to physical damage.
Dundr is great for certain mobs
And staff of fracturing has some blunt damage like the staff of embers
Staff of the Wild is amazing
Fracture seems ok if you land a full shot while jumping
dundr still not working for me
Staff of fracturing could be very powerful in deep north if thereβs less fire resistance
At level 4 it can deal up to 360 fire damage per hit, and the currently obtainable max level 3 deals up to 288
- all levels have 144 blunt damage
I would love to see a staff of lightening
not some weird lightening shotgun
Dundr is great fun, but not below 50 ele skill
gonna play around with it in Ashlands
ofc since it can only be levelled to 3 it not gonna be as good as other staffs
Not really? Same applies to the other Ashlands staffs and they all beat embers & frost on single target dps, barring resistances/weakness.
With some ele skill Dundr oneshots twitchers and marksmen and the knockback makes dealing with most melee enemies pretty easy once you get the reload time down a little.
Also basically nothing resists lightning
Thor
Dundr is great also for playing with logs: #memes-and-clips message
wouldn't a direct hit do more damage?
Its not about the dmg π
Well, yes. But it's fun.
i have 1 bloodstone iirc. is dundr generally worth it if i already have a lightning mace on 2. or should i save it
Bloodstone is also usefull for the black forge upgrade, Trollstav and ||Dyrnwyn|| <--- weapon obtainable via ashlands sidequest π
While it is not the most effective for AoE it is good against bigger targets, especially Morgen who are weak against lightning.
Just curious do most people play with portal restrictions on or off? I liked the idea of restricted portals at first, but with the amount of ore I need and with how little content the ocean has, I feel like I'm good on massive boat trips.
Once you learn how to use it dundr is awesome π€©
Asksvin are a good target as well - same with valkarie
Just to clarify is there something im missing out on gameplay or progression wise if I turn off the restrictions?
Youβll just be sailing less
Yeah, like I said, bigger targets.
Okay word, that's what I thought. So maybe it will be a more attractive optio if/when the ocean gets properly filled out.
Really up to you.
Having portal restrictions encourages you to build multiple bases more imo
I turned them off the moment they added Stone Portal to the game.
I would say without portals you have to play differently, so don't use boats to haul ore back to a base, get used to building bases near ores. Many biomes are mixed so you can potential get everything you need from one island
I've never personally tried no portals but I would probably be a nomad and build multiple small bases to gather all the resources I need, rather than trying to go back and forth
Thanks folks!
can't you collect ores, and the put furnaces where u stored them at the base in the new biome?
Yeah, I just think the way I play these games, it is impossible for me to stay organized unless I have centralized storage
u can still have a centralized storage
it would take you to sail then though
i mean there are workarounds which are legit albeit exploity at worst π€·π»ββοΈ
Do I understand correctly that it bans all Russian words?)
If you mean this discord;
It removes all languages, but English.
Reason for that is that this is an International Valheim Discord and it's impossible to moderate all the different languages if they're allowed to be used.
Okey this not rusofobic
how did the serpent spawn i dont remember bc i played like year ago
Night or rain.
and on ocean
Yes, they spawn only in ocean.
ty
Not that I know of.
But then, politics and religion are two of the subjects we aren't allowed to discuss at this discord either.
We're all Vikings playing Valheim here, no matter our background.
I like it
So do we all. π
So on behalf or the other Vikings and Shieldmaidens: Welcome!
Dude my trophy luck is insane in my new world
I got the rancid trophy from the first rancid remain
Wraith trophy from the second wraith
Draugr elite trophy from the first AND second elite
Cultist trophy from the first cultist
Stone golem trophy from the second stone golem
I think valheim wants to thank me for starting to play it again after a long break
Oh right and a wolf trophy on day 2
The obliterator will be very happy
Put them on the wall, rarest trophies deserve it.
Now you need to get golem, berserker, soldier etc so you have other rare ones.
Killing Fader: the most inefficient way to farm coal
I hate that in order to summon the queen again you need seeker soldier trophies. I'd sooner find another 30 seal breaker fragments
No you don't.
All you need to do is finding another Queen spawn location.
She's already there, so no need to sacrifice Seeker Soldier Trophies.
so my two chicken eggs have hatched, what now?
You wai till they grow up and then you give them seeds π
@merry pebble birch seeds?
Most kind of seeds π i preffer using carrot, turnip and onion seeds, they also eat barley iirc
Dandelions too
ohh thank you
What does the yellow text in brackets do on damage
Grey text means the enemy is resisting / reducing the damage you deal
White means there are no modifiers
Yellow means the enemy is weak to that damage type so it hurts extra bad when you use that on them
Example:
trolls donβt like pierce damage (arrows, spears, etc)
If you mean the damage when you hold your mouse pointer over your weapon, that's the damage you actually do, based upon the total damage (white) and your skill.
So if a weapon like Frostner is showing blunt 35 (15-26), it means the maximum damage you can do is 35, but with the skill you're able to do between 15 and 26 blunt damage.
Don't give birch, beech seeds are better.
Oh, wrong comment to reply lol.
@merry pebble
is it worth investing in a black metal word? im about to be done with plains tomorrow and i have 0 sword skill
cool
Sick
It's worth if you seem it that way.
Would be a good idea to level up some sword skill, but tbh skills don't matter that much.
gotcha, love the pfp by the way
There are those small trailers of Hervor Bloodtooth and her adventures in DN, you get the idea from them.
Does moders power work with the aksvin cape
Nope.
icey, white, blizzards, cool, frosty
If the Hervor Bloodtooth blog videos are an indication; it'll be white.
a bit disappointed we didn't get a new pickaxe for Ashlands
Still on the black metal one from Plains...did they just forget?
Or didn't want to add one because we might get a new one in the Deep North?
Devs are like gods, they work (and think) in mysterious ways.
As always, gaps in tools/weapons etc are intentional.
Do free range chickens still lay eggs?
Did they ever?
how do i craft a ferminter? if im not wrong it should be the only thing im missing from the bronze age other than a farm
Finewood, bronze, resin
I've found some oddball eggs around, but not many... I like to let any overstock of tamed animals wander freely
Thnx i should had everything except the finewood
have"
how many should i build? i can make two
If you are solo one or two are enough π tho i like to make a bit more if i can
maybe later in the game and yeah im playing solo, trying to enjoy the game since my friend ruined our last playthrough
We had iron pickaxe as the best possible one for awhile when the game first went live. Didn't get blackmetal until later. Even in plains all we had was iron pickaxe
is there like a way to go on spectator mode? i want to go up to take a pic of the base
Well blackmetal pick was added later with mistlands update... need yggy wood
Ctrl + F3 to hide HUD/UI and freefly command π
That's unfortunate. Hopefully you have fun in your run!
yeah he used comands to get overpowered gear and rush the game
thnx
That sounds very unfun.
Yeah where's the fun in that... just beating the game as fast as possible is lame. My no map playthrough just passed day 1000 and I've yet to kill the queen
#screenshots message @arctic kiln Dang that would have been really good for the scenery category of Favour of Freya without visible HUD.
is there a way to disable the crow? its so annoying
#screenshots message @brittle lance Looks good to me π But you might want to replace the fence with the stakewall
In the settings, but you will be much more likely to loose your way and miss pretty important info π
its on my to do list i just need to gather wood
thank you
Plan sounds solid, you need to sail and find something in the ocean to get material for abyssal knife. Which is quite good weapon on early stage (basically tier higher than copper knife), but you need some luck for that. And you're correct on the bronze vs troll armor, they have no significant difference in armor rate but the biggest differences are no metal cost for troll armor and it doesn't slow you down.
Hugin generally has something useful to tell you.
-# They already have the razor π
taming my first Asksvin rn :D
Good for you!
riding Ashsvin through lava is peak Valheim adventuring.
True, reading is hard when sick.
man, the bog witch taming potion is an absolute godsend
yeah ive made the second boat
not tried it yet, how does it worK?
reduces taming time by 50%
amazing
And it stacks with other players using it π
which means you need two back-to-back to fully tame something in half the time since each lasts 10 minutes
The half gets halved again π
hey, I see a purple glowing thing in the distance in the Ashlands. Is that a starred slime? I remember the starred surtlings were pink/purple
The taming speed is multiplied by two for each of the players using it (x2, x4, x8, etc).
No more surtlings in ashlands π
yeah, I know, I'm asking if it's a starred slime since both they and surtlings are made of fire
Ah, the slimes there do not have stars π
I got a notification someone commenting on the cpu but when I clicked on it it Led me nowhere π prob got deleted bit whoever said it just know that the software is buns I only use it for the fps
how do I reach flametal nodes? I don't have asksvin saddle unlocked yet.
You can use basalt bombs to create temporary platforms on lava.
Make a few extras to keep at base so you can easily reach your grave if you die out there
oooh, gotcha. I'll go make some :D
Iβm gonna cosplay the valheim iron armor
WAS NO ONE GONNA TELL ME THE FLAMETAL HELMET LOOKS SICK AS HELL??
Surprise!
Helmet? You mean Dverger Circlet?
Why would we ruin the excitement of finding out for you? π
why dvergr circlet when you can wisplight? :perkins: ah crap.
Sorry, but no, it doesnβt, itβs inaccurate to viking times, they didnβt have horns on their helmets
why not both π
Also wisplight occupied the Belt slot so π
I've never worn the circlet actively, but they make nice wall lamps when put in item stand.
Vikings also didn't have magical staffs and giant lizard-ox hybrids. Horned helmets are historically inaccurate but that doesn't mean they look any less cool. I will say I thought for a sec that they were wings a la Attic helmets.
I know, itβs just un necessary, I have nothing against you btw
Just if it came off wrong
eh, it looks cool, I'd rather have inaccurate helmets than have all helmets look the same ngl.
Fair, but I think a gemstone would look cooler than giant horns that get in the way of your screen
Horned helmets β€οΈ
Horned helmets π
Historical accuracy in a fantasy game loosely based on Norse mythology? Really?
that's what I'm saying π
Huh? I'm disagreeing with you.
β¦..
Wait, wrong person. My bad.
I'm saying the game is loosely based on Norse mythology and has many inaccurate elements, but it's still sick as hell.
And I'm saying it's not 'inaccurate' when it's not supposed to reflect reality anyway.
Why bother adding accurate helmets when youβre gonna ruin it later
yeah, you're not wrong. Accuracy only really matters if it's supposed to be a 1:1 adaptation.
Nothing is wrong. This is Valheim lore, this is how things look in the Valheim universe. By definition it is correct.
imo accuracy goes out the window the moment you have a Tenth World. Greydwarves are based on nothing in the mythology, neither are most creatures in the game (afaik, anyways). Having two horned helmets doesn't really "ruin" anything especially when you can just... take the Ask/Embla set or keep the carapace helmet.
I really love the wolf head being part of the cloak, I hope they do something similar for one of the deep north creatures
Fair, Iβm not trying to say itβs inaccurate to the valheim lore, Iβm saying that the design choices for armor have been accurate throughout the game, but then it loses the trend of semi realistic helmets
Same
The wolf cloak makes me feel like thragg
not in its entirety. The drake helmet of the mountains also has horns, though I'll say that it makes more sense than flametal since you actually use a drake trophy to make it. That's why I'd love it if there was a way to add different horns to helmets by using trophies
Drake helmet is also really cool
Thragg β₯
Vikings themselves may not have worn horned helmets, but their shamans wore antlers
In more simple words, my autism likes cycles to not be broken after they start
Time to touch grass
in another but tangentially related topic: What uses are there for charred bones?
Shield generator
Bones are fuel for shield and also theyre in a couple recipes
O
Theyre in the flametal armors recipe actually
Why does the tunic from the tailor specify that it is undyed
Can I dye it?
you can get coloured ones once you get her the chests
Ah
undyed just means brown iirc
They must be in one of the chests
no
Boo
how do you fight morgen??
actually scratch that, better question: I had my asksvin in a taming put with a black marble and grausten lid, fully enclosed. I just found it dead. What killed it? Is it explosions from slimes?
Do ONLY roof pieces count as βroofβ or can stone and black marble be used?
Stone floors will provide shelter
so will angled wood beams
Yes, earth walls do not block area of effect damage.
back on topic, do you think the iron armor's scales would be made using the metal wring method or the sewing on to shirt method??
what do you guys like to make charcoal out of?
thoring in a bunch of core wood seems like a pretty good choice, but im wondering what yall do for charcoal
Core wood if Iβm not planning on making a log cabin any time soon
Just wood, I hold on to my core wood for builds (I use a lot of it)
Love to make it from the bodies of Surtlings at swamp spawners π
Also provides you with plenty of cores for portals, and trophies for decoration / sort of lighting.
Leng has a big brain π§
wood, occasionally dip into the swamp for surtlings if I only need a little because burning an imperfect stack bothers my brain.
y'all, is Dundr good? Or fracturing staff? I just got bloodstone and wanna know if I should make either for a hybrid build or if I should stick to martial stuff and focus on HHS foods instead of HES, and their damage seems kinda weird.
Dundr is okay but i wouldn't call it a critical upgrade. Better save the bloodstone for a gemcutter and trollstav first and build Dundr after imo. Also guzzles eitr like it's going out of style so not really that great for a hybrid.
As for the staff of fracturing it's not terribly useful in Ashlands because most things resist fire and it lacks the AoE of the staff of embers, but it's cheap enough to craft that there's really no reason not to.
Their damage being weird is because the listed damage is per projectile (they fire multiple).
Ah, I see. I ask because I read somewhere that Frost was food but when I tried it it was impossible to aim. And when it did hit, it did very little damage
frost staff is basically an SMG, not a long-range weapon. Unless your enemy is very big at least
Good is a point of view, Anakin.
So if you're wondering about Dundr or Fracturing -- either build one and find out or make a cheat world, spawn one in, and test it out to see if you want to build one.
β¦charred warriors?
Better use embers, warriors are hp sponges (ignore the fire resist, embers does a decent chunk of blunt damage too after all).
Warriors are extremely annoying, almost as much as seeker soldiers.
You can just nuke them with ember staff, they're too slow to catch up to you
Also mages work better with EEF instead of HES.
EEF?
frost staff i mostly use for valkyries in Ashlands
I believe in your deductive skills π
Ooh good point, theyβre impossible to melee and arrows do basically no damage to them :β)
Energy Energyβ¦. F?
The fuck is "Energy"? We are talking about Valheim food types./
Health, Stamina, EITR, Feasts...
Eitr*
Ah, feasts. Yeah that makes sense, but like I said, Iβm aiming for hybrid at most, not full mage; swords are too fun for me.
Fighting bonemass rn
As a hybrid i'd probably not bother with most staves except bubble, embers and vines. The others don't seem worth carrying if you don't have the eitr to power them properly.
Staff of frost arguably the weakest frost damage weapon fr
Possibly weakest mage weapon too, although Iβm not sure what other mage weapons it would be contending with for weakest mage weapon
You could try the combo of Wild and Frost staff. Slow the quicker enemies down while the vines is starting to slam them so they can't get away.
That does sound like a great combo actually
And it's also good against mobs with the weakness to frost damage (Bonemaw & Volture) and after enemies get wet.
Yeah I m not the biggest fan of frost staff, its goat for leveling ele magic though
You could look out from or post to https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 if you are searching for Brazilian people.
Just jumping in here cause I love the magic builds, but each stav has a designated purpose / use
Embers is a general weapon and is good for pretty much everything
Ice is good for finishing off already weakened targets and leveling skills (and for punishing enemies who got wet)
Protection 𫧠is another all rounder as itβs your bread and butter as a mage (super squishy mage needs protection)
Wild staff is straight up op and an excellent panic button if you are fighting large groups of mobs or a boss
Skeleton summoner is good for distracting enemies from you and helps level blood magic
Trolls stav is your heavy duty mining tool and excels in clearing heavy hitting mobs (charred forts and bosses go boom)
Dundr is a great βget off meβ tool for enemy mobs, and works nicely on bigger enemies (has good knockback on small mobs and has a good chance to stun enemies)
Fragment lava staff is good at stacking lots of fire damage over time once you master your accuracy (good on big targets or clustered enemies that are weak/neutral to fire)
Embers beats lava staff for crowd control though
Mornin gjall π
Morning punchy boy ππ₯³
Fisted any dragons lately? π
And very important question actuallyβ¦
Have you fisted the Fader to death?
I would think that would be quite the challenge π
I preffer the term punched, it leads to less missunderstandings π
True true - apologies ππ
Iirc we did a math on that some time ago and it would either take so long it would not even be funny or outright impossible
Perhaps I should say have you clobbered any scaly beasts as a better terminology? π π€
Oh shameβ¦
Even with fenris claws?
That still counts as punching
That i don't know, but might be possible π
We must investigate!
Our beloved dragon puncher must be able to defeat every scaly monster with bad breath! π
With his bear hands! π
π»
I might very well try a run like that π but not sure when i get around to it
Pisted?
Funched?
π
With those we would be going the other way in scale of missunderstandings i feel xD as most of people would see these words for the very first time
Excellent. π
ya all are some mad good builders ngl
baguette
@autumn gale
I got full Eitr weave armor
Nice!
Thatβs one of my favourite armors
I was initially terrified of the armor stat, but itβs much better than I expected
I thought Iβd get one shot by a seeker
Weeell you might, if you pick a fight with a 2* π
I also just encountered a 2 star gjall
Nice! π€©
Somehow he didnβt notice me hiding under a ribcage and I made it home safely
Nice!
I love the mistlands for that
Most of the time you can go completely unnoticed by mobs if you just turn your wisplight off for a bit
I still want to convert a jotun into a base at some point
whats the best way to go about looking for a leviathan?
i cant seem to find a new one
I went into the infested citadel, but the queen isnβt spawning
Never mind I found it
Ehe- I think you just missed her in the smog π€
You just have to sail the seas - you might get lucky, you might not
Didnβt realise how huge the citadel was
Itβs chance based rng
You do have the feather cape equiped by the wayβ¦? π
Iβm full wizard
Otherwise you might just be a short trip from the top of the citadel to the bottom entrance π
BROTHER!
Case fireball with me! π€£π
Always happy to see a full mage on the game π€
Not even got my mage skill to 20 yet tho
I just wanted to get a feel for fighting the queen
I fucking love the queen
She is epic! π€©
We need a queen emoji in this discord β€οΈ

The queen and ||fader|| actuallyβ¦
ok so im in the damn middle of the ocean and a sea serpant is atacking mw
What happens if I save in the infested citadel?
i aint got the gear to kill it what should i do
what CAN i do
nvm i killed it but my boat is almost broken
Nothing funny - you just come back where you left off
You will login without any rested buffs however, so I wouldnβt recommend it
Well done man! π€©
Sea serpents are one of the best foods in the game
And their scales make for an Excellent shield
Time to head for shore and patch it up π
i wonder if we gonna get a ||son|| someday
Weeeeellβ¦
We do have that trouble making ||sleeping child|| from the deep north which drive ||fader|| insane. π
He can be an honorary ||son||
update 1. i found a leviathan 2 there was no sea serpant
I donβt know whether you are having excellent fortune, or the most rotten luck π
i am directly referencing the both dragons ||moder = mother and fader = father. or is this too farfetch'd? this was my headcannon, but i don't know what "language" valheim uses||
i am kinda sad that they are more or less famous in the game, yet || more or less totally useless. like.. when do u use the scale weapons π ||
i guess an early bone knife or the spear is okay, but then.... meh
however the spear is great for feathers farming
do me a favour and check the ss chanel, i want a rating out of 10 on my trip
i seen it. i have 0 opinion on that
thats the best answer i could had gotten from you ngl π
god, the server layout is horrendous.
channels
voice channels
channels
why
To avoid things getting lost in the clutter, perhaps?
Which is better between the Krom and Black Metal Sword?
No no I getcha man
That is actually built into the lore - ||fader||βs severed head has a line apologising to ||moder|| about him going mad
Shame man! π
They really had you running half way across the world for that! π
What level should I get my magic skill for the queen?
i mean, i did her with like 15ish
Even with 0 you are good to go π
How do I make it not take 1 year?
level magic π
No, just use magic and bombs, very easy that way
Ok
and i only found one π
how do i locate the elders altar?
I would say any level is fine, but I had mine around 30 from farming
I used the ice staff to level up just a bit
Although honestly, with a magic build you should be more focused on mobility unless you find a spot to cheese the boss
Broken towers in the dark forest have vegvisirs, burial chambers also have them
Iβm just trying to get it to not take 46 minutes
how do I get vines?
what material do I need? the third gemstone, I assume? I've got bloodstone and iolite, used the latter to make a thundering Nidhogg. Do I need the green gem for the wilds staff?
thank y
green gem and valkyrie feathers iirc
gotcha. Any tips on fighting valkyries btw?
bc so far my strategy has been to lure them near dvergr and dodge till the dvergr eventually kill it. But then my two buddies got massacarred off-screen.
on that note, they kept killing asksvin there so maybe I should make an asksvin taming pit in that spot so I could get some eggs. Though i'd have to find a way to proof it against the countless creatures of the Ashlands.
crossbow sneak attack takes about half their health with an Ashlands xbow, so if possible you should pull them from afar to an area you've already cleared to avoid adds.
After that staff of embers or frost for mage or bow/spear for non-mages (they're neutral to pierce, unlike most Ashlands mobs). Frost staff especially works well if you have enough eitr/ele skill because it slows them enough that you just have to walk backwards while firing and they'll never reach you.
If you do get adds focus on dodging, the valkyries attacks do quite a bit of friendly fire so she'll do most of the work for you
As for asksvin taming a terrain wall blocks most enemies except for lava blobs. That'll do until you get your first 2 eggs and can move your asksvin breeding somewhere safer.
There are two types of vines
Ashvines for vineberries (they are red and have to be foraged from Ashlands structures)
And creeping vines (they are green, and can be bought from one of the traders)
Ah, you taking about the wild staff π
I meant the wild staff :>
Never mind me then π π€
For valkaries, dundr works quite well
It knocks them back a bit, so itβs nice to push them away if you are in the middle of being attacked
That, or lots and lots of vines from the wild staff
I like to stack the vines and just run around near em so enemies stay in range
that's been the one virtue of the Ashlands. The mobs hurting each other has been insanely useful. Getting a blob to blow up a hoard of undead? Warlocks burning each other? Perfection. That being said, everything is pointing me more and more towards crossbows :')
It doesn't matter what your playstyle is, you should always carry a crossbow from Mistlands on imo. They're just too useful for pulling and against certain enemies like Gjall and Fallen Valkyries
Personally i don't bother with charred bolts (i need my ashwood for building, TYVM) but the mats for carapace bolts are easy to farm if you slap down a portal at an infested mine or two.
Also once you get your skill up a little you can just oneshot twitchers while running past, makes Ashlands travel a lot faster
yeah, it's just the reloading that scares me so I stuck to Spinesnap instead of Arbalest
also my chestful of retired arrows.
The queen wouldnβt be that hard if it werenβt for the seeker broods
How do I get them to spawn less?
Sadly not
She spews them quite frequently
Best best is to blast them with the embers the moment sheβs finished spawning them in
Should be doable with a shot or two as they often get quite bunched up
As for the regular seekers, there really isnβt a work around for them other than to blast βem
Arbalest is great for long range
You have the thing primed and fire it off at big mobs in the distance
But that does slow you down while running, so youβre going to either have to put it away and stop just before a little way from your enemy so you can take the shot, or settle for a slower movement speed
a good Embers shot should clear them
My problem is theres so many that I donβt have enough Eitr to hurt the queen
Ooooor you can go unga bunga mage build and just blast everything that moves with trolls, magic vines, and let your summons do the work
in mines I usually throw two ember shots back-to-back to insta-spawn and insta-clear them
I used my sword to slowly chip away at the queen, Embers only when she got too far. But then again, I mostly stayed in the entrance bc I was scared of her.
What food you running?
Two eitr foods and something else or full eitr?
my biggest issue was seekers constantly pushing me out of the dungeon π
and the Queen going upstairs and me not knowing there was an upstairs and she refused to come down.
Happens a lot
Hence I summon skeletons π€
I needed to have debugmode on because she also pushed me out of the map twice :')
I liked the strategy of run up the stairs, float back down
Run up the stairs, float back down π
Hey, thatβs not fair! π
Stuffed mushroom, seeker aspic and the food that uses all meat
Now I know the queen has a charge attack, scared the fuck out of me
i usually just use embers staff while kiting her up and down the stairs. A few ooze bombs or bile bombs can help when you run out of eitr but they're not really necessary.
You'll definitely want eitr-weave for the regen bonus though.
Oh boy π
Well I suppose that is for just incase your shield drops - the queen has a habit of bursting your bubble in one hit
Alternatively you can just facetank her attacks on normal in upgraded carapace armor with Bonemass running. Eat HHE food, bring Mistwalker and some berserkir and healing mead and you can just hack your way through her hp before Bonemass power runs out.
Shes at half health and my ember staff is almost broken because I miss half of my shots
Go out, repair, come back. She'll regen some health, but hardly enough to matter if you don't sleep or waste time.
Besides the seekers, the queen is my favourite boss so far
She is a really big step up design wise π₯°
I love fighting her
I love that she gets her own arena too
I also just like insects in games for some reason
Also her music is unnecessarily cool
I liked Yag for the difficulty spike. First boss that doesn't give you huge breaks to attack in.
i just walk when yag is doing the fire breath
looks funny as if i have ultra instinct
Well yeah you can just cheese him by staying behind him because he turns so slow, but if you fight him the "intended" way he's a lot of fun.
I hate yag because of lox
then the tar balls spit at you
Nice
go to the bigger mountains biomes, then equip it
Iβm still fighting her
Day two of making the iron armor irl: yesterday I watched a video on how to make scale mail, and found a goldmine of info and amazon links⦠gonna look at those today
Iβm gonna do some MORE research and work
We will sing a song of FetthΓ₯l the unyielding, who fought her day and night for a week before she was slay! ππ₯³
Literally been fighting her for three valheim days
Who, the Queen?
Shes finally dead
Yes
do mods generally work in MP?
I had to run back to base because my ember staff was the only thing keeping the seeker population down
Missing the "Γ₯"?
Never take your feather cape off!
Use barley wine, the resistance overrides weakness so you will be fire resistant while wearing the cape
Also donβt forget to bring lightfoot mead to get the most out of your floaty jumps
I have to make more wine then because i chucked it
There actually isn't all that much fire damage in the Ashlands anyway
Valkyries ranged attack, lava blobs, warlocks and Fader iirc
Depends, Ashlands is much flatter area than Mistlands so it's not necessity, but it helps with jumping over lava.
Iβll equip it when I need to
If you're used to wearing it you'll probably die of fall damage alot more often than you die to fire
Lava blobs are everywhere on the other hand. But they are useful to break stuff!
They're also incredibly easy to dodge or blow up from a distance, so once you know that they do blow up they're basically a non-issue. Especially if you're also running the bubble staff to catch any mistakes since the bubble isn't subject to weakness or resistance
How dare you sir??? π
I had no other use for it besides yagluth
You think I plan ahead? I didnβt even bring any potions to the queen fight
Just killed yagluth completely fucked his ass and entered mistlands ehich was right next to the boss altar, got fucked by a 1 star gjall or whatever its called even with fire res potion lool
I found two dwarf outposts one being a tower tho, how do i craft the cape which makes me immune to fall dmg ?
You'll need to get quite a few things. First you need to find am abandoned mine
Yes, are you trying to get it to work on PC and with your PC friends? never tick crossplay option, justt tick start server, and your steam friends can join you through the steam friends list > Join game. All you have to do is use r2modman mod launcher and share your profile code with your friends n they can import all your mods and settings, all players have to be running the same mods
I found a mine with stairs to an entrance to it didnt enter yet
I have max padded armor idk if thats enough for it
Take it slow n you should be alright. The only real threat are if they got starred enemies
And be careful taking your first steps inside, there's usually a hole right in front of the entrance
Gotcha
Also take an atgeir to deal with ticks
They attach to you and suck you off, using an atgeir can make you not need to turn to get them
A fellow hunter I see
Canβt remember, I think most small monsters are different
No jagras or anything
Drakes can be a menace... you can avoid getting hit when they shoot ice at you...just walk out of harms way... have a bow handy, they are easier to kill with arrows than anything else
Once you get wolf armor theyβre mainly just a nuisance
valheim is a game that has the rule of thumb: a new enemy will most likely kill you in the first encounter
If you get killed by a greyling you need to stop playing valheim
I had a friend die to a boar because she had no idea what the fuck she was doing. Some people learn differently from others.
Thatβs fair enough, but greylings are a joke
there are people that are totally new to the game and encounter a 2 star greyling that onetaps them
especially when u dont really know that u have to block/parry, the first boar can easily just nuke you
Greylings can't have stars except via commands
My experience playing nine sols taught me to parry very well
My first introduction to valheim was dying in a fist fight with a greyling, no food and had no idea what i was doing
wait.
oh greylings are weaker versions of grey dwarves. yeah, idk. i thought about the bigger ones
My first death was accidentally lighting myself on fire
I think mine was fighting a boatload of skeletons because I found a burial chamber right on the edge of the starting meadows. I managed to kill 1 or 2 before I died due to prolific dodge rolling.
Iβve died significantly less since I got an Xbox series s
I should also mention that this was outside the burial chamber, not inside.
If youβve played valheim on an Xbox one, the framerate is A W F U L
Skellyβs are strong when you first encounter them
Especially since you're probably using a spear
Does anything else than eitgeir work for taking them off?
You can get them off by dodging, but the atgeir has a spin and they donβt have much health so the spin should kill them even with low skill
Yeah dodge roll will remove them, and some swings will still hit em as they suckin you. I actually used knives cause they're weak to pierce and could take em out with one swing
If you mean the tankard, it just plays a long animation to slow you down when you drink. Thereβs no benefit to using it.
Idk
You can parry with a tankard as well
You can parry with anything else while drinking a mead directly
yeah, but the tankard is funnier
Itβs for the aesthetic of course! π
It'd be nice if the tankerds had some unique effect aside from aesthetic though
It would be cool if there was an emote wheel for secondary attack so you could belch and whatnot after downing a cold one
Achievement idea: Parry with a tankard.
Bonus achievement: Parry with a horn of celebration
I still haven't died in Ashlands actually - the closest so far was from fall damage after I tried swapping out the feather cape - but then I have been taking it VERY slowly. I learned long ago the dangers of rushing headlong into a new biome, so doing my damndest to not repeat those mistakes...
Starred warrior was very close to ending me too, mistimed my roll and was down at 25 health. Smack!
But getting to flametal without taking bigger risks is looking impossible, so I'm likely to crank my death rate up soon. I'll miss my 100 swords and run skillz...
how/where do y'all build your Ashlands bases? do you take over a fortress/citadel?
I am planning to do that once I find one, for now I simply raised a platform where I landed my ship and head out from there.
First one is usually an outpost on one of the spikes, then a ring of terrain walls right on the beach, then a fortress
oooh those are both pretty cool
y'all, idk if it's because the game was saving or something but I just repaired my nidhogg at my workbench??? Is... is that a known thing?
also my blackmetal pickaxe and flametal armour
Which weapon do yall prefer for Ashlands? Mistwalker or Silver Sword?
My first playthrough i was hard invested in knives. So I used those +bubble just in case
This time I'll go in with magic... almost ready for it. Been on mists age for a while now trying to get my blood magic to 50
Mistwalker
Then I'm all set :D
taking over a fortress with 3 layers of flametal doors on each entrance is very nice incredibly tanky!
Always
SS for valkyries, Mistwalker into thundering Nidhogg for everything else is what I'm doing
So what are your theories for the faders placeholder item? My theory is that because he is also called the emerald flame it could have something to do with the northern lights idk my theory is still missing things
that actually sounds so cool
I've found that valkyries are best dealt with by dodging their purple spit and then greeting them with a sword secondary, then back away and avoid them until they spit stuff again, and repeat. Tried using the bow at first but I think just one of them ate more than half a stack of frost arrows.
anywhere where I can find an estimated time for the frozen n orth release?
No, there is none. You can find speculations all over the place, but the truth is nobody knows.
No - cause the dev's have no idea on a release date either
Best answer you're going to get at this time π
sadge, lol, thanks guys xD
So I made it to the Ashlands and I canβt do anything because of voltures
That is normal
Turtling and swiping them with mistwalker has been very effective for me
One hit slows them down so you can kill them before they swoop away
I got them
I'm just grumpy I haven't unlocked any recipies with their meat or eggs yet. No cauldron update, so I assume I need fricking flametal for that too. RAAAAAH!
do i have to farm my magecap & jotun puffs in mistlands or can be anywhere
They only grow in Mistlands
Can I put my level 3 padded armor back on for Ashlands?
If you dont play modded then yes
Why couldnt you? Its not worth it but you can do it if you want
It has higher defence than my Eitr weave
Oh why didnt you make carapace armor?
Carapace armor is a safe bet
Yeah exactly
I was a wizard
You can still use carapace armor. Just a tad bit longer eithir regen time then but id make that compromise
Tbh Ive played the game through atleast 70 times or so so i nowadays just go with wolfarmor for the rest of the game and save resources for building so going with padded armor is better than no armor and is a completely viable strategy
I canβt do anything in the Ashlands
Yeah the welcome comittee is fierce. I strafed every damn spawner I could see while still at sea. Cost me stacks of arrows, but it made the landing a little less tressful
But as it turns out I have landed in a place with lots of mobs but few resources..
jumping in here - cause that is honestly what most of us run into - you've got to prep, prep, prep, prep if you want to survive
Like Derleth said, landing is STRESSFUL
Took me 2 hours to get a spot in my main playthrough
Before you try and get to the ashlands, prep portal supplies
Prep basic base materials, and make yourself an outpost in the ashlands ocean (the ocean stacks are amazing for this)
Once you land, you've got to prep for each expedition inland - build campfires along your route to stop mob spawns or reduce them at the least
Carry an emergency portal and always keep your exit strategy in mind
This biome is by far the most unforgiving compared to everything else - but you will overcome it by applying all of the lessons that you've learned previously
I find environmental challenges become pretty trivial as you progress, I'm really hoping deep north is a hostile environment just for being there. Like fires won't stay lit without shelter, frost resist does nothing, you are freezing and slowly ticking away life just for being out there no matter what
No night trips, keep that rested buff up, fight small winnable battles and have escape plans to get out of jams
There is no small winnable battles
There are - but you've got to force the enemy to engadge you on your terms
Don't let the game dictate the terms of how you play it - you have all the tools you need to tip the balance in your favour
See a big open area with lots of mobs?
Lure a few over to you and slap em dead
Snipe em from secure positions - like Derelth said earlier
I've been in Ashlands two weeks now and haven't made it more than 500 meters in any direction from where I landed. Still haven't even gotten my hands on flametal...
I canβt even kill 1 charred warrior
But I'm rather taking it slow than looking on as my skills plummet. As for warriors - frost arrows is key if you are not geared to take them on in melee. I have lvl 3 carapace armour and shield so I can parry the one starred - but the one time I mistimed the parry I nearly died, so yeah - they are safer to take out from a distance. Frost arrows make it impossible for them to reach you.
I got a spawner
where could i place a port in mistlands to be safe
Inside an abandoned dverger structure
Wrong Sildar, but yes π
For towers that are occupied you need to break the ward
I'd recommend using a cart and just ramming it repeatedly until it breaks - you don't want to hit it with a weapon as that will make the dverger angry
i dont wanan do the thing where i use a cart, are they super hard if i aggro them?
Depends on how many there are and if there are stared varients
Also, are there mages?
Those hit quite hard
For Voltures you can just hold a torch in your off-hand π
And theyβll fuck off?
Same as greydwarfs π
I made myself invisible because there is no way of me progressing without
Oh there Is π bit it Is a biome that should feel like full fledged battlefield
Iβve already found faderβs spawn
Iβll turn it off once I get a better weapon than my Frostner
Frostner is pretty good for the charred since they take 1.5x spirit damage
Mistwalker better.
Silver sword is better than mistwalker for them
Facts.
Quick question: plants need open sky. If I place ladders instead of roofs, will that work?
I donβt think so but I havenβt tested it
hey anyone have experience using the adventure backpack mod?
I upgraded my black forge, Iβm gonna get the slayer and turn off invisibility
Then Iβll get askvin armor
What the fudge, flametal already?
I was lucky enough to find a flametal rock close to the land
Aaah ok, ah well, I saw that about invisibility too. I'm struggling on without, I don't mind taking it slow and careful..
I find it very hard to take things slow, but I swear once I get the slayer I will never turn on invisibility again
Also the only reason I turned it on is because I donβt think Iβm prepared enough for it
I have found two nodes so far, a good way into the lava. And every time I get close a morgen, or valkyr, or both or just a horde of charred come at me. Haven't had the chance to figure how to get out there
What equipment and food do you have?
Level 3 padded, level 4 Frostner, level 2 carapace shield, a variety of staffs, and meat platter, cooked Volture, and onion
Your food is the main problem there
I love onions
Not even onion soup though? Just raw onions
My main problem is Iβm shit at parrying now
You don't need to parry anything
Use the onions to make salad
No
Damn bro make some mistlands food. Misthare supremes and salads
π§
Ogres man...
I go on cooked bonemaw, meat platter or chicken plus omelette or salad
Bonemaws keep aggroing on my ship so I have a steady supply
Hear me out, there's a way to eat onions AND have Mistlands-tier food. The lineup is onion, onion soup, bukeperries, and then 3 Mistlands foods of your choice.
Salads are great value cause you get 3 per cook. Easy to make lots. Just puffs, clouds n onions
Better food is going to be much more helpful than a better weapon. Especially since that better weapon likely uses a lot more stamina that what you use currently.
You make a solid point, Iβm planning to have the slayer as my main weapon, so I should get some salad
if i bring a stojnecutter near a dwarf tower can i reconstruct it
Usually yes, but Ashlands weapons use as much stamina as Mistlands weapons (of the same weapon type).
Frostner does less than mistlands weapons though, especially less than a 2h sword
I managed to get some jade, so I guess Iβm making the primal slayer
Make klossen, the jade mace. Jade's effect relies on RNG and the knockback can keep you safe if it fails
After the enemy is immobilised, swap to the sword and attack them from behind
Forgot about that
Klossen.

I donβt like how thick the thunder slayer is
Have to say, the Ashlands is awesome when itβs not literally just Doom.
Visual design on everything and the ambience are absolutely fantastic, the music and storm when you approach in the drakkar was so bloody epic, top gaming moment!
With how many enemies there are, I might just get the brutal slayer
Iolite weapons are great for groups of enemies. They have a chance (
) to create a lightning projectile that moves between enemies.
They all seem so good, bloodstone makes you stronger when lower health, iolite gives you chain lighting, jade gives you rooting, I love this system and I havenβt even tried it
Bloodstone is generally weakest of the three
Interesting
Weird mechanic to me. In a place when most mobs hit so hard, lingering at low health does not feel very tempting. So is it useless when at max health, or just weaker?
Damage increases by 0.2% for every point of health you have missing, so at max health it does nothing.
Shouldβve been like 0.5% or 1%, thatβd make it more appealing
They look cool tho.
The one thing it does right is not relying on rng
Or should have been something different entirely. π€·ββοΈ
Couldβve been a bleed that does an amount of damage depending on the enemyβs health like Venomβs ultimate in marvel rivals
We already have fire and poison weapons if you want DoTs.
why do my asksvin keep climbing each other? is that normal? can they fall out of the enclosure because of this?
- because they can
- yes
- yes
I climb on the lads
how high should I make it π It's 3 high, all stone.
whats the best way to set up a jute and blue thing farm? i havea portal near a mine i cleared and that area seems safe
Best is subjective.
ill take your subjective opinion
What do you need jutes for to need a farm?
A what farm?
Jute and blue things
Infinite farms due to exploiting respawn mechanics are against the soul and purpose of crafting survival games and therefore should not be made.
Jutes like from cultists and dvergrs
lmfao i meant jotun and the magecap
i was about to say magpie but had to actually look ingame
Ohhhh lmao
Aaah right, was not aware those could be consistently farmed somehow. Not that I'd care. I did build a greydwarf pit on one world just to try it, but I don't have patience to stand afk and let it work. I prefer running around killing stuff myself.
You can make a farm in the mistlands
Me too
Just find a patch of flat ground you can cultivate, pen it in and set up a portal nearby. If you find a good place bordering to other biomes you can use that, since you'll have less seekers causing problems.
i set up a ghetto farm next to a dwarf outpost, havent seen an enemy here in a minute so hopefully i wont get fucked
@heady parcel noted thank U
Just make sure you don't have more than a workbench and the portal, so you don't get raids while tending to the shrooms.
Oops, well sometimes I say jute when I mean flax lol.
Sometimes I say jute when Iβm referring to Ashlands
Flax is red jute.
Barley is blue jute.
Also known as the best enchant.
That makes no sense.
And saying jute when you mean flax does
Is what?
He refers to my reply. #valheim-chat message
Confusing two types of plant fibre is a long way from confusing one from a biome.
I had no idea jute was a plant, I was joking because jute and flax sound so different, and jute and Ashlands also sound different
DAYLY REMINDER!! Get the rocky plush before it goes away FOREVER!!! (In 4 days)
is the mistwalker worth it for mistlands
heck yeah
Yes, 100%
No, 0%.
Not really, it's not that much of an upgrade over frostner vs seekers imo. Great for Ashlands though.
agree to disagree? damage is much higher than frostner because you don't get the knockback that breaks your combos
Hate to agree but after not using Mistwalker for ages and then finally switching to it it is superior to frostner in almost every single way
The slow effect works a lot better on swords
Frostner is aesthetically and audibly more appealing imo tho
However I did only upgrade to Mistwalker in Ashlandβs and found the frostner perfectly suitable all the way to early Ashlandβs before I upgraded to flametal
Not to mention 1-handed swords don't have MTP π
whats MTP?
Multi target penalty
The damage from the weapon is spread out between targets
Example sword hits 2 enemies, both enemies recieve 100% damage, mace hits 2 enemies, both enemies recieve 66% damage (i think)
Damage is further reduce with maces per Target for each extra Target too
Something 1-h swords don't have, but should.
And something 2-h swords have, but shouldn't.
π
if you get my precious silver sword nerfed...
is it bad if I skipped the silver sword? I just went iron until i got the black metal one
its the best weapon in the game available at the time you kill Yagluth with normal progression for killing that boss
even better than the black metal sword?
shouldn't that one be the upgrade from silver?
for that particular boss, much better than bm sword
because of how the spirit damage works
it can also work super well for the monsters who are vulnerable to spirit damage in ashlands, though comparable to the mistlands sword as well in damage, but uses also less stamina
But you don't HAVE TO min/max either, I skipped iron mace for bonemass and killed it with iron sword, Bonemass is resistant to slash, I still killed it just took longer
yeah giveng how the skill system works i'd like to stick to one or two weapon type if possible
Define "how the skill system works"?
more or less the usual, stick to one weapon type and your damage with that weapon willl improve over time
True, but the game isn't balanced around skill levels.
They literally just "free stats"
Does anyone know what lightning damage does?
Damage.
Alright thank you
π
well that's more or less how i like playing given the system
Parry just means blocking right before enemy lands a hit π
Sell them or make decorative treasure chests, and the mountain needs to be taller than certain height to heve the next metal you will want π
oh balls
Sell them Sell them???
I donβt think so. π
Meh, i dont use them for the decore so money Is more useful π
Lightning is the only elemental damage type that adds stagger to targets afaik.
I've been playing mostly small group co-op playthroughs, but what is the larger public server scene like for Valheim? Seems there's quite a bit of mods out and the experience can be tailored quite a bit to larger playerbases
#mods-discussion Ask in there and you'll get better answers π
Me and my fellow bros just made progress into the swamp and got ourselves some turnip to upgrade the cauldron, what would be the best foods to make now? Sausages and Turnip stew?
Yep, + carrot soup or dear stew as cost efficient third foods depending if you want more stamina or health, or there Is also black soup and muck shake but i don't really like using them
Why? What's wrong with muck shake/black soup? or is it personal preferences. I have a good carrot farm going for 3 of us so I think I can make carrot soup but I thought higher level recipes would be better.
Too cost heavy for my taste π i find it easier to just go with carrot soup which i can make loads of
Nothing wrong with them per se
I don't really have much use for carrots so I suppose that'd be a pretty decent idea, thanks.
Now how will I get more mushrooms
You mark clusters on the map and once in a while you go for a gathering run π
which biome would be best for mushroom farming?
Meadows imo, black forest can work too
When should you upgrade tools/armor? Is it okay to skip a stage or is that not possible?. Like if I currently run a full bronze armor, can I upgrade it to max and use it to fight bonemass and skip straight to silver after? Iron seems to be used for a lot of stuff.
i rememember making the recipes for the muckshake and eyescream or whatever its called cheaper than its better to use
You can skip, but you will have a bit harder time progressing, generally lvl 4 armour from one biome Is equivalent to lvl 1 from the next one π
Muckshake need 3 ingredients and all of them you need to gather, so i choose stuff i can farm, tho i usually make aΕ₯ least a bit of eyescream π
i dont like cheaping out on stamina food, i made 1 freeze gland make like 3 eyescream at once
farming freeze glands sounded like a chore when you have to deal with the wolves, wolf raids and the tanky golems
Use an iron mace and those golems wonβt feel tanky any more
I use SSH diet so 10 more stamina eyescream would give me Is really not that noticable π
i like parrying everything but those guys hit like a tank and sometimes yeet me off the mountains
i might have to do that but i play using CLLC on hard mode with max 5 star creatures π
Ah, mods
yeah the vanilla difficulty just adds health and damage
mods can make harder difficulty more rewarding and fun
Literally thousands.
Oh, to find a server to play on, you can look in #1024264966712340510
Well, people play at different times of the day so they might not always reply straight away.
Yeah for those I jump on their heads so I just stay away from the edge of the mountain π
On a happy note, I finally got all the Ashlands weapons I want
Primal crossbow and spear, blood slayer, storm zerker axes and bow, as well as a nice tower shield to go with my ||Drynwyrn||
i remember mining them as if they were a resource
The only time I really skip is the silver stage and make sure I have enough iron for padded and then get a fully upgraded ||Draugr Fang|| because that is a must for me
I'm gonna need a lot of iron it seems.
Not really. I mean you will, but not for armor
Root armor will last you through swamp and early mountains easily until you get wolf armor so there's little need to craft the iron one.
The only iron gear i craft is usually the pickaxe, the mace and the banded shield.
Fenris easily lasts you all the way through Ashlands once you learn to use it, so if you're not married to heavy armor it's worth a try too.
The atgeir is worth it too if you use them but i'm more of a shield fan
Iron will be used all the way through the mistlands, not too much beyond unless itβs for wood iron beams
Mistlands spoilers
||I'm playing in a multiplayer server that's gearing up to fight the Queen for the first time. None of us had seen anything past Yagluth before starting this server. We have food, fully upgraded weapons, fully upgraded armor, mage stuff, and meads all ready to go, but I still feel like we're not ready.||
||Going into Yagluth it felt like we could safely explore the Plains and attack Fuling camps at our own leisure. But looking at the Queen now feels different. Infested Mines are still hard and 2-3 Seekers at once almost always has people dying.||
||Is it that they improved the power scaling or should we wait? The problem with waiting is we've been to multiple Mistlands and feel like there's nothing more we can currently do.||
Realistically, you are probably over prepared π
Go find her and say hello
Youβll find out very quickly whether you are overprepared
A group will makes things easier if you have a mage and warrior mix.
Same rules apply to most bosses, keep your distance, make beds outside entrance and use bonemass
Ok thanks
A technique that might make it easier: ||Switch out your chest pieces for the Root Harnesk, especially if you're using Carapace and not running a mage build. Just carry some fire resist potions with in case of Gjall. Also remember Seekers resist all physical damage, so ooze and bile bombs, and elemental weapons like the Mistwalker and Frostner are stellar.||
||Shields help a bunch make sure to max your gear and armour, for warrior builds use Carapace shield, and Mistwalker||,
||group use bone mass and regroup for another person to active it every 5 mins, 4 people can allow you to have Bonemass buff perpetually up if done right||
|| for mages same thing applies when it comes to armour, use fire staff ||
Just dont get greedy take your time
I got the slayer
Recently I went trying full Fenris Armor with a hybrid build, all 3 types of food, Staff of Protection for health bubble, and Sword and Shield as weapons. Mainly go with agility. I wonder anyone else have interesting builds too?
Why would you need health food if you also have staff of protection?
cause I can only cast a bubble at once
but that's a good point, should I just replace with stamina food?
Stamina or eitr, or maybe a feast if you've defeated the queen.
alrightly
so many great mods for this game, 500h+ and still going lol
Valheim is one of the few survival games that are replay-able most survival games arenβt that replay-able (or at least the ones that I have played) even in vanilla
For some reason, after I got the slayer, the Ashlands fear me
Never felt the need for any mods even after thousand hours π€·ββοΈ
Pretty much this. I might give them a shot when i'm bored of vanilla, but it hasn't happened yet
mostly due to procedual generation of the massive MASSIVE map which always makes it feel like a new adventure
Exactly
I think they should change how the map is unveiled because my OCD I need to uncover every island I reach and it means constantly looking at the map instead of the enviroment plus I sprint around the island first which makes me missed stuff.
But without a map I can't see where stuff.
I think the whole map should be uncovered but the biomes are hidden so you can see all the islands but not what biomes they have
TIL that I can get tamed wolves to follow, so now I have my house full of cute little fluffs that get in my way. β€οΈ
Yes my main base is overrun with wolves. They self feed themselves by taking out deer boar n necks
And they LOVE getting in the way. Just like my dog
Wolf AI is very realistic in that way, that is for sure π
DANGIT! Night-spawned seeker group wreaked havoc on my fluff pack, only got two left. Blasted bugs, got to mount a retaliatory strike into Mistlands now. And it is probably time to try and get a two-star wolf.
It was time to get a two-star a long time ago
Maybe, haven't really paid attention to the fluffs since I tamed them, never needed them for anything really. Just tamed them because, well, because.
But now that they were milling about the base being cute I loved having them around, so I need stronger ones so next seeker incursion doesn't end them..
My world has higher raid frequency so I like my 1* wolves. Got them super early, like before even going to the swamp and they've kept me and my base safe
Why are no more lox spawning?
Presumably not enough non spawn protected Plains to spawn in.
Non spawn protected?
Areas that are not within of base items that prevent spawn.
Iβm in large plains and the only thing Iβve built is a portal and workbench near the coast
Hm, then there should be Lox spawning. Are you sure they're not?
Been running around the plains, literally zero lox
Running any mods?
lol
How did THAT happen?
Iβm on Xbox
Did autocorrect
Other enemies are spawning btw, deathsquitos and fulings
Damn autocorrect got me too
Iβm too tired after work to remember what that was even meant to be
Could be random, sometimes they don't spawn for a while. Kill off other stuff in the area and just run a few laps around the plains and they should pop in somewhere.
Running any mods?
You canβt on Xbox
They're unlikely to have hit the mob limit.
Does dropped items affect it?
Not at all.
Try rejoining world maybe?
Finally got two
Iβm in a solo world
You didn't specify, but fair enough.
It IS only a 5% chance every time so it can happen.
My bad
biggest mistake was me building my starter base around elevated groundβ¦now that i have build stone walls around it i had to terraform the area outside my base for 6 hours already and iβm still not finishedβ¦,
Build stairs and just leave it alone?
nah it looks shitty if the walls are lower then the surrounding area π and i canβt raise the walls because then they would look way to huge from
inside my base xD
I like fighting morgens
They are pretty fun. Valkyries too, although blobs, asksvin and charred joining the fun out of nowhere is always a menace
Whenever I get a morgen they all seem to come at once
At least you can trick blobs to take out the weaker mobs
I found that two handed weapons are shit against them
Just get close and once they shrink, roll π
I havenβt fought a Valkyrie yet, but I see them in the sky, they look so cool
Itβs because of parrying
I mean blobs π no need to parry those since they just die on their own, but now that i am reading it again you were probably reffering to morgens or some of the other mobs
I was referring to morgens
I find that I donβt have the block strength to parry their arms
But with a shield I can do it hitless
Their swipe attacks have a low hitbox and they can't turn during this attack. Jump to the side and hit them a few times.
I just discovered if you use the eikthyr power and have the askvin cloak on and run in the wind direction your stamina doenst reduce
You can also use eikthyr power for 0% jump stamina
Iβve been trying to decide wether I should use the askvin cloak or ashen cape
Is it just me or the hitboxes are clunky as hell sometimes you hit and sometimes not
you fighting in slopes?
Depends on the weapon
No in a cave which is the same i guess xd
the game have problems when you are fighting something very high up or below you
The game has no problems here, only the players not knowing how to fight properly
Since i began the exploration of mistlands it bothers me soooo much
it's a known limitation sadly
Even when you use a bow, the arrow is slightly off the center like why
Not very, slightly
Embrace the wizard, you may as well for the queen
I want to try being a mage before making a real judgement on combat
The staff of embers is hard to put down
You will unlock it in sixth biome π
Im in it, kinda harsh but im managing it if there are no slopes neither clunky walls lmao
no matter if I have 10x resources I still need 20-30 carts of stone to build a stone castle π¦
and not even a big one
Now that I have full ask armor and the thunder slayer, the Ashlands is awesome
Wow, didnβt think that was what would get me a warning
Why didnt you?
It wasnβt that bad
Just sounds like someone forgot to bring demolisher, iron sledge, staff of embers etc hahaha
Pro tip:
Return to your main menu, select your world, select your world modifiers and turn "no build cost" on.
It saves you from lots of hauling stone.
Once the castle is done, do the same thing to turn it off again and play the game as if nothing happened.
Good idea but I wonder if some people do not have the discipline to turn it back off haha which might affect their future adventures, we have a server with no build cost for this and a normal server with standard settings, so there is at least a differentiation between the 2.
Those people are weak
Sort of agree but you have to also keep them in mind, I even make myself special rules outside of world modifiers that I need to follow in game
I dont want NO build cost, that's feels like cheating, I want to collect stone and build a castle but I don't want to collect 50,000 - 100,000 stone
build a small castle π
it is relatively small
Swords are nice to use in close quarters because they still do full damage even if they hit walls or multiple targets
Ooze bombs as well, depending on which dungeons you're talking about
I won't call those people weak.
Not everyone is able to play Valheim when returning home from work or even at work.
Which means not everyone is able to collect a few 100K in stone for the buildings they have in mind. So for them that option is a god-send.
I also don't see it as cheating.
The option is there, the Dev's put it there for (imho most likely) that particular reason, which means using the cost is a valid way to build stuff.
Besides, if you demolish things you won't get your resources back if you use that modifier; so there's no infinite amount of stone, wood or metals available for other things.
#screenshots message
One wall, two towers 10000 stone
There is another option, however, which is more like a game glitch. Not sure if it's intended or not, but with the resource modifiers you can basically dupe stone while using the hoe.
