yes. the amount is 0 😂
Fuck
There is a staff of protection which means you don't need any health food when using magic
i mean. yeah. i should have used that a lot more.
but the staff requires you to level blood magic so it becomes really effective
but i can imagine a 100 BM shield staff is really good
Is the Wisplight permanent?
Staff of protection creates a bubble that doesn't act like HP and can't be replenished until it burst and if you have low HP it can be very dangerous
mine currently has 425 hp
but its burst so often in Ashlands 😦
It only bursts if you let it get hit
yea and you can't block inside it, it still counts as a hit
how is it exactly. it shields 1 attack or like. let's say it is on 1 and shields 200 dmg. if i am attacked 199 times for 1 damage, it shields it all?
and how does it react to overkill?
When broken it still blocks all damage. You can take 200 damage with 5 shield health and you still take nothing
This means you can parry any blockable attack no matter how strong it is
Honestly I have no idea. I'm not sure what the dmg resist on it means.
My blood magic is 45 and the dmg resist or hp on it is 425 but it feels like it goes down after 300 dmg
It has no damage modifiers, even against pickaxe and chop. So attacks with high pickaxe and chop (such as pretty much everything on bosses) may break the shield faster than expected.
maybe would help if there were numbers on the bubble to show how much is left
Into the mistlands I go
Have you made a black metal axe?
dude is so motivated about the fog for now 😂
What about an animation before the bubble burst or a sound queue something that indicates the bubble is about to burst lol
I think a number could be shown over the status effect icon
yeah, there are defo enemies in Ashlands that can one shot my bubble
like a 2 star swordsman
Morgens do sometimes, but yeah, 1* and 2* swordmen defo hit me hard
Yes
morgens are skeletal turkey with frog legs
Valkyries are just angry overgrown chickens. Make sure your chickens are happy people
valkyries are so ass to fight. ur just better off running from it and range attack
well, if you have good archery skills they die in 5 hits
who fights without range?
how do you fight a valkyrie without range?
i dont.
i feel my skills are just way too low for ashlands in general. but it is what it is.
they all range between 10 and maybe 30 for the gathering skills
I once jumped so high I axe a drake in half
smack it with a melee?
I only use a ranged wepon if I feel that I have to, such as with drakes and gjalls, or to get the attention of distant enemies such as fulings in a camp.
burning down fuling camps with staff of embers is just a hoot
almost got my elemental to 100 just 25 levels to go
to me it feels even a skill u often use would take ages to 100
i mean i played through the majority of the game, and my skills are super low. i guess its due to dying often, but w/e
you stop dying when you reach the last biome and there's nothing left to do but boost skills that's when you can get them to 100
everyone dies in new biomes at least a few times
i reached the last biome and i in fact did not stop dying. i die more 😂
its way better now that i actually have ashlands tier stuff and can upgrade it
What is meant is you would die less in previous biomes
Ashlands is generally just straight out murder 😂
I run through lava now beat up 2* swordmen for fun and if I get a trouble every fort in Ashlands now belongs to me so I just retreat lol
Running through mistlands in Ashland gear is not as scary anymore
get it all upgraded, get all the weapons and magic and you will feel like a god
small g
me dying once to a seeker in dark forest...
what's funny is I have a meadows furnace for producing coal with 20 kilns but got raided by the new mountains miniboss and was NOT prepared for 2* fenring or cold mages
Shit my pants almost died...
if you are further in the game there are much better ways foir making coal. i suggest you to enable the "stuff can be destroyed by fire" option and then u could create log stacks on fireplaces for instant 50 coal
or in general, asap just convert 50 wood instantly into 50 coal
Very useful for transporting ore and whatnot if you plan the route out ahead of time
The more weight in the cart, the harder it is to take it up slopes
I've had this setup for a long time didn't even think about a new features, that does sound like an interesting idea
Seekers and seeker soldiers aren’t too difficult
wait till u get crowded by 2 and 1 with 2 stars or smth 😂
and a djall sets your ass on fire at the same time
I hope Krom works against them
never used two handed swords
very effective against seeker solider ass
And several ticks latch onto you at once 😂
Guys what do i use swamp key on
Go to the swamp, you'll figure it out decently quickly
and how do i know where the swamp is?
Look for large dead trees when sailing
sailing????
cant even make a boat
what armour do i need to not frezze in the mountain biome
used the big hammer for that
wolf
u r not supposed to go to the mountains yet i think
but unsurprisingly, you need armor from that biome. or meads
whats meads
and where do i need to go
ohh meadows?
Yeah
yep
yep
i did make bronze i have a level 2 forge right now and i dont want to make bronze armour because i have lvl 2 full troll armour
wdym
There are no capes made from swamp materials
alright like the mead ketill and stuff?
When you generate a world, it will always have one of every biome at least, right? Can you get a map with a missing biome?
you should have used the iron for the weapons and kept the root armour tbh...
why would there be missing biomes that means you cant progress from some bosses makes no sense
guys is a mead ketill station worth crafting dont know what it is tbh
I guess I'm just paranoid, but I probably just need to keep wandering my map more.
it's how you make all the mead bases to make the meads with special effects
is it worth making?
I've heard the frost resistance mead is worth it.
And a lot of the meads seems like they'd be worth it.
i dont think i need it yet what should be my next step tho i just defeated the elder i dont know what to do
I personally do not feel qualified to give you this advice. I know the next boss is bonemass in the swamp.
alright np
If it helps, the way the bosses are ordered it would seem like biomes progression goes Meadows > Black Forest > Swamp > Mountain > Plains > Mistlands > Ashlands
yeah it help thanks
does ValheimRaft not work anymore? i cant seem to get parts to snap together
Good choice on the armor. Bronze armor is a lot of grinding for only half a hunger point two armor points apiece more.
Mead ketill and cauldron are very much worth it
yeah i wasnt planning on making bronze armour
they give you like resistance but why do i need that right now
There's some that give things like ||HP or stamina|| too. Those can come in clutch
Also, the ||poison|| resistance mead is extremely useful against certain enemies
You need to craft bronze nails to unlock the option in the hammer menu
aha ok
thanks
one more question what should be my next step to do i just beat the elder i got full troll armour like level 2 idk what to do right now
Sail around and find a swamp if you want to progress
What should I be getting first in the mistlands
alr thx
i think im having the single worst gaming experience ive ever had trying to kill the elder
The power of the infernal blaze, channeled into hundreds of tiny sticks
its so far away i made a hut and stuff next to it so i can respawn and stuff but its so far my weapons get half broken just getting there so im trying to kill it with a torch and i keep getting ran up on by graydwarfs
You’re trying to kill the elder with a torch?
my bow is broken, my axe is broken, my spear is broken
i was dumb so i forgot fire arrows
fire damage isnt actually that bad tbh
What kind of axe?
bronze
What's your armor?
The next time you fight him, bring at least 200 fire arrows, with a level 2 fine wood bow
bronze
Sword is better, I think.
Axe was my main weapons really early game, but as soon as I made my first sword I never went back.
Once you go sword you never go bored
Whip out the mace, you won’t leave a trace
I have literally seen 1 seeker soldier
Since I got in the mistlands
What about his attacks are you dying to? Is it a specific attack, attrition, or something else?
HES DEAD
bro lost to a guy with a torch 😭
my map is just white around the boss theres about 100 corpses
That was me with my first troll cave lol
Nice
is the general strategy to just build a new base every single time you find a new biome because swamps are so so so far
most people build a large central base and move their stuff there
My base is still in the meadows
mine is usually in the meadows or mistlands
how do i put the sails down on a boat
arrow back until you are in zero position
back to valheim aint played since 2023 is there been much new stuff added i was fairly near endgame
trying to look for a public server but in game they all have pw on them
Now that's real poetry
Hildir's Quest was added in Summer 2023, with a new trader and some unique POIs in 3 biomes, plus QoL like snap points for building pieces and quick stacking at chest when holding E.
Ashlands was added during May 2024 (new biome) and Bog Witch (new trader) during October 2024. Bog Witch update also gave us 3 new skills, new tool for harvesting and lots of new meads.
Is there more quest or only Hildir has a quest?
Only Hildir has them.
oowww dam yeah nice
That’s a pity, i will be more fun to have some quests around for example mistlands dwerws or how they are called… i guess it will be added later… atleast it could be added
I don't imagine so. This isn't an MMO.
The seekers aren’t the problem in the mistlands, it’s the fucking ticks
How do I deal with infested mines?
what's really funny to me is the only way to get chains is to kill a phantom, you can't just make them from a bit iron 😄
does anyone know if the devs are planning to do anything wit hthe ocean?
like the ability to go underwater or build on it?
That's been a dream for many ever since krakens were added
hello
There is a new valheim copycat on steam
how are you guys
because quests are an MMO only thing, right?
or adding any tasks by the NPCs in the game would make the game unfun or an MMO.
Ignore Derek, the guy has been trolling on here for like 4 years
“Aww shit, here we go again…”
I never said anything about unfun. It just isn't what the game is about.
Hm?
Just a silly meme reference
Oh, OK. Wasn't sure why.
Given a direct task by Odin to get in, kill the Forsaken, get out.
Literally in viking purgatory with viking heaven as your reward.
Wants distractions and quests that will keep you in Valheim longer, delaying your ascension to Valhalla...
Makes sense 👍
you underestimate the power of procrastination, I may be in purgatory and damned to spend ages alone in this monster filled world... but I'll still find ways to not do what im supposed to
also wdym this building simulator has a objective
Which is fair. My point is the devs have a balancing act to keep with regards to what the game is about.
The more "side quests" and such they add, the more it can possibly take away from the stated purpose of why we are here.
This is part of why you can't build villages and populate them. Because the entire goal of the game is to eventually leave.
For people who want to do more staying -> 100% sure modders will fill that out.
And for the "it shouldn't have to be mods" well... no? Because this is exactly what mods are for and why they were invented.
Devs get to dev the game to the identity they want/intend. Mods add stuff that is outside that direction/intention.
Anakin- "You underestimate my power! But we can finish this fight later..."
Valheim has a sense of urgency in the same way that Zelda urgently needs your help in Breath of the Wild
Facts.
I may have interpreted the reply: "I don't imagine so." on the comment of it being fun as disagreement. May be wrong.
But I respectfully disagree on the part that this isn't what the game is about.
surely odin would have given me a bit of help instead of: go collect twigs and stones, bozo lmao 😂
No, Odin is a dick, that's well established.
I respectfully disagree on this aswell.
You disagree with Norse mythology? Fair enough.
I can only assume you're going to just disagree with everything I say so I'm just not going to bother. All yours, Sev.
This isn't false tbh
Most of the pantheon has done dick things at some point
He gave you the helpful birds 💛 What more could one ask for? (Besides cats)
This has a double-meaning in Greek mythos 😏
Given your interactions with multiple users I have seen by now, and the helpful comments in unity saying you are indeed that guy, i don't want to go down on your level of the contrarian and please ask you to not put me into these shoes. I do not want any trouble with you, but it seems you do. Won't happen.
Have a good one.
i.... don't consider them to be that helpful. in a stew, maybe 😂
I use them for aim training
The birds who explain the game to you aren't helpful?
Well, they are helpful... in the same way that Fi from Skyward Sword is
Never played so I don't get the reference.
But when you land they immediately tell you "Stones like this reveal bosses" and "pick stuff up to learn recipes" and then within 10-15 minutes explain the remaining basics of the game.
People just think in ONE interpretation and believe that's the main canon in the entire mythology.
Hades being a villain OR an anti hero in Greek mythology can both be true but guess which version people will bitch about if depicted
Helpful necks?
Tameable Necks 😭
Tameable ||deathsquitos|| when
You breed them with the bloodbags from leeches 😏
rideable
That was peak Valheim shitposting, thank you for reminding me that that existed
That + all the fanmade ai movie trailers that present themselves as real are why I think YT needs to update their terms of service to make people tag things properly and remove any video that does not comply.
😄
👍
ashlands spawns were made by chatgpt, prove me wrong 😂
Current ones? Probably.
Given the biome was nearly perfect but they nerfed it into the ground.
innit it by far the densest one?
Wouldn't Mountain be the densest given it has the most land per land? 😏
spawns per i really don't need anything to spawn on my ass right now
I think that's kind of the point, unfortunately
Given that "land" Is just a single plain... I wouldnt say that really 😄
It's the war biome. Constant combat was the point.
Mountains, not Plains 😏
I’m sad to say that I spawned all the black cores I’ll need because fuck infested mines
Is gaem. Play to have fun. No sad.
weak 😂
wait what, i am not playing frustration simulator?
Ashlands is basicly operation overload beach landing combined with a active warzone
If frustrated, play different game.
Games are meant to be fun.
I’m not happy about it, but infested mines seem like something you need mistlands gear to explore
Never understood continuing to play a game that causes anger/frustration 🤷♂️
i mean. u have seekers. which you can kill with a frostner
and then you deal with ticks with a hammer
overcoming challenges is fun
Ew. Frostner.
i smell a mistwalker enjoyer
It doesn’t help that I’m solo
See how you didn't use the word frustrating there?
See how I made the distinction of moving on when not fun?
Get your nose checked, way off 😄
Mark my words, I won’t cheat again
at first its frustrating. but u git gud and learn. and then its fun
I'm going to guess no.
Solo is de wae.
Multiplayer with resource multipliers for more than 2-3 people is also pretty awesome
Not when dealing with hordes of enemies
does the game address for multiple players in any way? like boss health, damage, etc?
You don't really get hordes of enemies until Ashlands.
Especially when dealing with hordes.
Go absolute god mode and zerk their asses.
Feels so good.
Then you run out of stamina and die
All mob damage health is increased with the number of players up to 5.
Enemy health scales by proximity to players, ||bonemass drops adjust for more players||, some other stuff
Imagine not having Tasty Mead for infinite stamina.
ah, good to know
Never even tried to make tasty mead
i would. but no shop in my area is selling any.
Eithkyr will need to be defeated multiple times to get everyone an antler pick, though
there are more of those that does that
It was the uncontested best mead in the game for years.
Now it is the best mead in the game contested only by Berserkir.
yeah.. we need to look at that before 1.0. probably 🤔
Eikthyr gives you like 3 antlers
I believe it's unlocked at forest tier
Can you also look at Swords while you are there? 😭
Well, 1 more boss that does that 😄
I mean it's not too bad, since he's fairly easy to beat, but it would be nice QoL
would be hilarious if the deep north boss would be an eikhtyr again. just better
And in penguin form
It would be awful.
Rudolph 😏
Looking at some swords menacingly. 👀
Dyrnwyn
Dyrnwyn aka best sword.
yeah but a group of 10 people needs to kill Eikthyr 4 times for each player to get 1 pickaxe 😄
Yeah, but they get all the other advantages of have TEN players.
yeah but still
make the game check if you have a multiplayer lobby and then just spawn 4 eikhtyrs 😂
Eikthyr can't kill anything
He's too weak as a starting boss. Players see how easy he is and rush to the elder instead of preparing properly, expecting a similar difficulty.
Then they've learned not to do that by the time they get to Swamps so it's ideal really.
i have an irrational fear of sailing in the open ocean
the elder is literally just a flow chart though if you remember to bring fire arrows unlike me
you just run around his arena and duck behind the pillars when he shoots his thorns
you can just shoot him from far away with no damage
Kill once, 3 people go get Bronze and make more picks 😏
many ways to "solve" it
3 people get 1 axe each = 3 miners
3 people go farming
3 explorers
1 cook
or just like drop individual boss loot for all participants
kind of like terraria calamity
Valheim's not an MMO tho
The Elder and Bonemass drop more loot for more players, why not Eikthyr?
Has anything been said about how close to the deep north I can go before the update? I was wondering since I perhaps could go and set up a portal close to the north before the update, but if they do it like the ashlands with a special sea it might cause problems.
exactly
An ocean around deep north already exists so any terrain in currently finished biomes shouldn't change.
no
alright, thank you
I can't check atm, but it's probably close to the same "size" of ashlands
Okay, I will go close but not to close
I have question. Will placing a roof over already grown ashvine cause it to wither and cease to further produce vineberries?
Is there a video out there of a group of 3+ players in a multiplayer session who managed to successfully take down Fadder? Watched hubby & friends struggle with having a ton of extra mobs spawn and get in the way when they'd have Fadder down to 10%. Feels very imbalanced in multiplayer, while most articles I saw with tips on how to take down Fadder were solo players or 2 players max.
Multiplayer makes most boss fights easier.
The number of mobs has no bearing on the number of players.
Really looking for videos to learn from concrete experiences of players, would appreciate that if you have any.
I don't, sorry. I'm sure they're about. The tips you've seen for other sized groups will be equally applicable though.
bosses gain 40% damage and defence per player in the area
Yeah, far less than you'd expect.
Was more than I thought actually. That damage buff kinda require all present players to contribute or things can go sour quickly
if you want to do it easy mode. just get 2 bows and 400 arrows and then rain death on any boss in valheim 😅
well yes
That's how it feels like yeah
that's why we put in a cap at 5 players
so if you're a group of 6-7-8-9-10. the boss don't gain more. because we don't expect everyone to be able to contribute meaningfully
Why wouldn't they?
Oh I've seen things
(Played WoW for years, seen 25 man raids where only like 5 people actually hit the boss while the rest ran around like headless chickens and died to very avoidable dangers)
because they are running from enemies 😄
takeing care of ads is a honerable job aswell 👀
Oh yes, keeping them busy by letting them stomp me!
that's a technique
with 40% more dmg each stack, at what point does it 1shot a player for not dodging correctly. good that it caps at 5
indeed 😄
yeah I honestly would like to have a video showing multiplayer successfully take down Fadder
not finding any feels like it's not been done/people give up :/
10 players = +400% = insta-gib on the first player who gets to close
14.5 million players in valheim
in multiplayer?
well not at the same time 😄
solo I'm sure can be done, seen it
but most people show it of solo since it's harder
seems the other way around from what I heard
Speaking from personal experience I've done it in a group of 6, I know Fader is more than possible. And this was pre-nerf.
alrighty, will keep an eye on tips for multi, thanks for all the answers! appreciate it
How to beat the Valheim's seventh boss Fader the Emerald Flame in the Ashlands.
The emerald flame's summoning altar can be found in a coliseum-like structure in the Ashlands. The Vegvisir can be found in the central tower of Charred fortresses, revealing the nearest summoning altar on the map. Fader can be summoned by placing three Bells around...
this is a group
We set up a portal nearby and went in blind to take on Fader, the Ashlands boss. Things went downhill fast.
An unexpected huge AOE damage, like YUGE enough to destroy our portal nearby.
Thanks to Aurora, Kaly, & Varvirus for the joining me on the Valheim adventures.

even more group takedowns
ahh perfect, thanks! was searching "multiplayer"
going to share that with the group thanks
hopefully they don't need to have max skills to get it done, but at least they can compare with group progression
god no 😄
from what a friend said, in solo they didn't have to deal with as many mobs
they'd have starred enemies spawn and take them down when they'd come back to their tombs (archers?), or they'd have the boss one-shot them or one-shot the portal
he said he felt solo was doable while multiplayer just felt way chaotic
The root harnesk can help because all of Fader's melee attacks are pierce damage
interesting, okay - I wonder if they crafted that
What diffculty are they playing on? There won't be more or less starred mobs just because of the number of players
I don't remember the game adding more or less stared mobs depending on the difficulty slider
that adjust the entire range of enemies up or down
Roger that, will share that with them
could be a case of since there are more enemies it seems like there are more starred enemies
Hard and Very Hard increases the chance of mobs being starred.
Oh, of course. Just saying what the current situation is. As that's obviously all I can talk about. Maybe your test version is quite different now.
appreciate all the answers, going to watch their stream now 😄
have a good evening!
GL HF 🙂
Is the queen spawn meant to be at the edge of the fucking world?
She can spawn anywhere in Mistlands.
I was wondering why I was so lucky with the first four boss spawns
Would you mind stop using that ff-ing F-word in about each and every FF-ing sentence you're using over here?
Because it gets fucking annoying seeing that fucking fuck word showing up in eacn and every fucking reply you fucking write!
How else do I show that I’m annoyed?
"I am annoyed".
If you insist
Poor Smiffe getting pinged for everyone one of those.
Well, for once, by simpy stating you're annoyed or angry.
There may be minors here and you're not showing a good impression of how the people here are.
is poison resist basically necessary in swamps
In some form or other, I'd say yes pretty much. Unless you're very skilled.
I hope not, but I do apologize in advance in case it happened. To him and the mod team.
It's just that I was re-reading about 6 hours of chat and found that word so often, I lost count and got quite annoyed with the use of it.
No, that's fair.
depends 🤔
im currently just brute forcing it because i forgot to setup bee hives
Ugh. I have finally located a metal vein in Ashlands, but every time I try to get near it I get swarmed by mobs, this last time I started battling an asksvin and thought fine, I can deal with this and then figure out how to get to that metal. Then some flying monstrosity joined the fray, a couple of lava blobs, a couple of archers and a one-star warrior. So I did the sensible thing and ran away haha
if you dodge all Blobs and Leeches. you don't really need poison resist until the boss fight
Running away is a valid strategy.
There’s another way of obtaining poison resistance without the meads that you can acquire in the swamps
tactical retreat to attack the enemy from a diffrent vector
Poison resistance mead requires neck tails so don't make any more than you need
More than enough neck tails to go around

I like to sacrifice stacks to Thor
An alternative may be to look for Dvergr outposts at the coast line. Use the monsters nearby to deal with them, once they're dead, destroy the ward, then the various chests in the outpost. If you're playing a mage you may be lucky and find enough flametal to craft and upgrade your gear.
Right, I'll keep an eye out for those. Don't use magic though, so I guess I'll need a wee bit more metal ;D
I'm afraid you do. But it may give you a slight head start to your first heavy armor. 😉
i think last time i played this game i rage quit at bonemass
If you did, you're gonna looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the Queen.....
(not)
My fellow vikings and me just held a funeral for our dead boar, it was alive for 500 days+ and over more than 3 years real life years
his name was Gerhard
he was the only boar left after a horde of trolls pillaged our town in the early game
lowkey now that im at the stage where i have a stonecutter I'm fine with just building for a while
How did he die
fr, did a raid with over 6 members with fully maxed gear at the moment (pre ashlands) at medium difficulty, and I don't think anyone died under 6 times
we built thick terrain walls around our sanctum where he lived, but a truly dispicable ooze was able to kill him with his death area attack and pierce our walls we thought impenetrable
iron is so expensive 😭
he was our good luck charm, we always came to him to get his blessing before we went of to our next big expedition or boss battle. it was a ritual of some sorts
Gerhard
rip gerhard 2022-2025
toughest viking of us all tbh. he protected the sanctum by himself practically
he died a true warrior in defense of our village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten, see you in valhalla my friend
are you playing solo or in a group?
solo
damm, that makes the swamp way more annoying to deal with
first time I went to the swamp with my fellow vikings, we died so much trying to cross a river to the swamp and ended up building a ugly and flimsy bridge to get to the swamp (our ships were destroyed way to fast by leeches)
also I think we had always one guy as a dedicated guard for the mining team in the dungeon
Nah this is not working, the place I landed in Ashlands is too far from anything useful, whenever I've fought my way near that metal vein, it is almost night again and I have to turn back (plus my bags are full). I need to relocate a bit along the coast or I'll never get anywhere.
Is krom worth the grind?
It is fun to use, but I found it underwhelming, it is worse vs many foes than Mistwalker, which is sad
But its scondary is very powerful, so it is kind of a boss weapon
Bring a portal instead of turning back
I was planning to get Krom and then the fire staff
Portal out in the open? Isn't that bound to be kinda short-lived? But yeah that's what I'll need to do to relocate anyway.
Bring some wood for walls. If it's hidden then enemies won't try to attack it.
Most of portals are out in the open lol I always clear the area out first, even in Ashland’s and not had any issues so far
Only base portals I keep safe
Is the kill all command only used in single player? You can’t use it on a server?
You can only use cheat commands in multiplayer if you are the host.
how many bases do you guys typically make in a playthrough? 1 per biome?
1-3 depending on how good my current location is and if I feel like building or not.
I like having a base in meadows so I can have a neck pond nearby but living in plains is pretty common
bases are hard for me, because Im always wondering if the next island over will have a BETTER spot with EVEN MORE nearby biomes
Make your boat a base problem solved 😊
A complete base needs a little more than item storage and a few chairs
And a deerskin rug
Valhiemraft mod you can make a moving base with most what you need
this base was originally just gona be a small, simple outpost
and then I made it a little bigger here, added a nice roof there, and now im stuck making a base thats wayy bigger and more complicated than I ever intended
Welcome to Valheim, the game where you can throw your original plans into your campfire the moment you made a campfire.
This is why I build every base on the coastline. I never know when I suddenly want to move a large amount of ore or metal between bases.
after beating eikthyr and getting some cores, It is finally time to craft my very first piece of armor for this playthrough
a pair of bluejeans, of course
is there special music for greydwarf nests? every time I walk over the spot where this nest used to be, I hear epic music
They have unique music
interesting that the music persists after the nest is gone
are the music areas decided during worldgen?
The music object is generated together with the nest, but the nest doesn’t try to remove it when destroyed.
yo i use to play like 3 years ago and had a massive house but when i load into the same world{i believe its same world} my map is not discovered and its all foggy and idk where my house was? what can i do
turn devcommands on and /exploremap
or make a new world, game is always fun to playthrough again
make a new story and adventure
New character maybe?
Map discovery is per-character, so it sounds like you're not on the exact same character you used before. If you still have that character available, you'll need to use that one. If that's not it, I personally can't help any further.
Yeah I loaded a different character into one of my worlds and freaked out when I saw the map without realizing that map discovery is on a per character basis 😂
yeah its same charcter cuz i have all same stuf on and in inventory but ill try the explore map, thanks!!
You could always buy it yourself.
what you said
I am a new player and was wondering if all islands have a similar biome? I have not discovered any Plains yet for instance. Just Black Forest, Meadows and Mountains.
You may need a boat and travel to different island
whats the expected release date for 1.0?
ik nobody knows for sure but if you had to guess
The 23rd
As you get further from the center the later biomes show up more
So much for Yagluth power. I just got absolutely obliterated in a single go by a dvergr mage
i would guess before GTA VI (AGAIN just my guess) (for those who don't know Gta VI got delayed)
Any chance devs will add gameplay settings for noobs? (I have just few hours / week to play loved Valheim but mistlands are pain for me. Would like some settings where I could turn off loosing equipment etc...)
Those were added a good while ago.
those settings are already there. you can modify your world setting
you can choose what punishment you get for deaths
You can choose whether you want to keep everything (easiest), keep only equipped gear (easy), normal, only equipped is in your tombstone (hard), lose everything always (hardest)
You always drop unequiped gear and items 😄 https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/World Modifiers
Oh the easiers are just about exp loss?
Never touched it so my bad on misremember.
Been working on complex Satis build too so brain fried 😭
With commands you can customize it quite a bit more but yeah, with the basic world modifiers you always drop some items 😄
The only thing I really want them to do with modifier for 1.0 is splitting the combat modifier so you can control the damages and the starred spawn rate separately.
Because playing on Normal or maybe Hard but with a higher starred spawn rate is a lot more appealing to me than Very Hard, with the increased rate providing comparable difficulty.
@gray sand thanks mate... Completelly missed that 🙂 I go plaaaay 🙂
Enjoy!
u2 🙂
I'm not a fan of hard/very hard settings as it stands. I think increased number of mobs/starred mobs may be better.
Normal with more Stars > Hard imo. Yeah.
Which you can control if you know the specific console command.
So the setting is already tracked separately, it's just a matter of making the slider separate.
Any number of available options would be better to me than intentionally handicapping myself
Huh?
When you first open the game and it says valheim
You have a loading screen before the... main menu?
Yes
Modded?
No, its trying to sync with my xbox
🤷♂️
If I press ignore sync, the infinite loading just passes to the second menu lol
Cloud sync issues?
Probably, but its infinite even if I press to ignore syncing
Should I have crafted the himminafl or stick with my maxed Frostner?
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
Same goes for matters of "worth."
I also want to become a wizard, but eitr weave armor has worse defence than fenris
Which matters only if you're planning to get close enough to be hit as a wizard.
Instead of... you know... using your wizardry from range?
You make a great point, I’m becoming a wizard
🧙
Does Eitr work like stamina?
It comes from food but you have no base amount.
It has a regeneration rate.
It will not regen while actively using it.
Yes? At least mostly.
Nice
Mages will be even more broke if they add an EITR version of Tasty Mead 😁
You're a wizard, Greasehole
I’m a wizard
Movie would have been 10x better if he had said "You're a witcher, Harry."
How many hits can the staff of protection take?
depends on blood magic level. My level is 45 and my bubble has 425 HP
Wow
So I guess at level 100 staff of protection will have 1000hp
The best Eitr food now IMO is Mushroom Galore a la Mistland, Sparkling ShroomShake and Marinated Greens
HP 152 Stamina 146 Eitr 218
guys does any monster above 2 star exist or is it a mod
mod
+5 health per blood magic level. 200 min -> 700 max
My blood magic level is 47 and my staff gives me 435 with a base 200
Cool, thx didn't know how it was caluculated
Soon I shall become the greasiest wizard
contesting randy pitchford, i see. bold move
In technicality, I think we vikings are more like sorcerers than wizards in Valheim. As wizards are those who study to learn magic and sorcerers have innate ability to cast magic (at least according to DnD lore).
W I Z A R D
Just brought that up, call it how you want.
Sorcerer is the term Hugin uses
Trying your hand at scrying the runes are you? I'm impressed, sorcerer!
Is there any difference between a sorcerer and a wizard?
All I know is they both use magic
Depends on the setting I would say, but typically I agree with Joel; wizard learn magic through intellect and knowledge (sort of like math) while sorcerers have an innate gift to wield magic.
Broo I still cant play
In short: wizards are nerds and sorcerers those who never had to study to get good grades.
I think...a wizard uses wonds and other objects embued with magic and a sorcerer creates their own
So I am a wizard
you're a wizard Harry
I've been "syncing" for 20mins
both wizards and sorcerer, in a modern sense, means the same thing: they do magic stuff. They differ in origin, however. Wizard stems from the english "wise" which insicates that they know stuff. In a sense, a wizard might not be one that does mystical stuff but rather that has a know-how that others do not have. In the world of JD Vance, Dying Sun, wizards are said to not really have innate magical powers but rather know how to mess with dangerous energies and devices that nobody else understands, giving them an allure of outerworldly mystical.
Sorcerers comes from the french word "sort" which means "spell" or "fate", I guess. In that sense, a sorcerer would actually play with occult things which would be outright magical.
🤓
I mean, we are both playing a videogame about fantasy vikings
wait, you asked for it
Ok, now that reaction makes even less sense, and it was not making any to begin with
Is it just me or is charcoal resin obnoxiously rare to drop from trees?
Its not just you, the only thing I think you need it for is the pots though which don't do anything besides provide the smallest amount of storage ever
17% chance, not that bad 🙂 tho if you want lots of pots it may get a bit annoying after a while
Yep, that's exactly it.
Yeah, it's like those yuleklapps. They're pretty, but could stand to hold more honestly. They make nice thematic storage for, say, honey or meads.
How do I get soft tissue easily
Mine skulls
I’ve literally found one
You can also get it from the dvergr boxes
You just need to roam around Mistlands. If you come across ticks without a gjall having been spotted nearby, you know you are close to one.
but skulls remain the best source
You get around 60 from one, so just find few more 🙂
And an extra 96 to make weapons
Yeah three skulls should be enough, anything after that is just bonus. But like I said if you hear ticks while roaming the mists, you need to be methodical and pay attention. There will be a skull nearby, but between the terrain and the mist they can be hard to spot even when you know there is one near.
go into ashlands, find morgen caves, kill the morgen inside and loot the 10 or so soft tissue 😂
I’m in the mistlands, you hollow cabbage
skill issue
okay, i budge. go to mistlands, find towers with dvergrs, slaughter them all, break their seal, and you find crates with soft tissue 😂
Anyone else find valheim is a bit rough, and brutal at times
The store page immediately describes it as brutal
A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!
It absolutely is brutal
Every time you venture into the Ashlands trying the get the ||mysterious locations||…..
I try to avoid killing dvergr, they keep seekers occupied and they rarely have enough to make the fight worth it.
Have you tried hard difficulty ashlands?
Nope probably never will it’s hard enough as is
It's hell, it's a constant onslaught
But, I am not above kiting seekers and gjall to them. Not my problem if they nuke their own tower..
Yep
Seekers die fast to the demolisher hammer
I do hope valheim gets it's edges smoothed out a bit
Seekers die fast to anything once you get good weapons, now stared ones on the other hand…..
Maybe it was never my thing to begin with, I find literally everything has a rough, brutal, difficult edge to it
Starred seekers usually aren't that bad, jump over them and attack from behind if their attacks are too strong to parry
I don't know how to describe it
Once you get parrying times down and have a good shield you are good
It's like if you put numbers on effort and reward, you put in 50 effort and the reward is 0.5
I prefer a two stamina food diet and usually have a low block skill because I don't block much so some starred enemies in later biomes are just too strong
Even gathering copper was a chore
I go with two health and one stam. I should try multiple stam foods though
You can increase the resource rate in world modifiers, I usually play at 1.5x
When I went to the Queen location it was guarded by a two-star seeker with two one-star buddies. I swear they were a tougher fight than their mom...
Gathering any ore is a chore
Yeah they probably were
I found gathering silver easier than copper
Silver is probably the easiest in my opinion
Copper, where your pickaxe likely sucks, your thumb and finger hurts from holding the button and there's a constant periodic spawn of rock throwing goblins to annoy you
Yep
You can't carry much, the cart gets stuck, and then a greydwarf brute shows up
I think you mean a troll
Or that
Hoe is your friend. Make roads, cart no gets stuck
In general I find that being methodical and overprepare will always reward your invested time by making things easier. Rushing ahead will get you in trouble, often. Can end up taking more time.
Making the effort to prepare for situations definitely rewards you.
î mean besides actually having the thing that enabled you to craft a lot of equipment in mist/ashlands tier 😂
but yeah, i myself only cleared out towers that have a lot of tissue or a skull at the top
now that i have a trollstav...
Yeah, this latest run I didn't bother trying to cheeze my way to it, I simply chose a tower where the seekers had already taken out all the guys outside and upstairs and cleared out the two guys downstairs. Sorry, not sorry you dolts. Let me BUY that stupid thing next time, and things won't get ugly!
(I really think you should be able to interact with the dorfs and offer them gold for the extractor, since they drop gold they obviously like it)
wdym by cheese
There are methods to break the crates without angering the dorfs
Cheesing basically means doing something in a different way than you are supposed/expected to, very often used for ones advantage 🙂
i know what cheesing is. i didn't get the back and forth of the convo
I once used a cart to bash their crate repeatedly until it broke, letting me take the extractor without pissing off the dvergr. Useful when there's a lot of them and you're not geared to fight them - and you really need that extractor. Hence I think it would be only logical if you could instead actually talk to them and buy the extractor instead.
There are two major ways to have the chest destroyed without angering the Dvergr.
One is to let nature do it.
The other one is to use a cart and slam into the chest until it breaks, then picking up anything that's on the floor.
A third option is to use nature to kill all the Dvergr. After that you can destroy the ward and the chest and pick everything up.
The intended way is that you attack and kill the Dvergr, then destroy the ward and the chest and pick up the chest.
But those little guys hit quite hard, so a lot of players bypass that with other methods.
Speaking of dvergr, I think the ones in Ashlands need a little work on their pathing, they are completely suicidal. Seen more than one rush into the lava and burn or swim out into the ocean and get boiled to death.
Yesterday I saw one doing both - first swam into the sea, but made it back to shore before he died - but then rushed straight for the lava and died.
Are charred bones used for anything besides arrows and feeding into the shield generator?
They're used in flametal armor and some weapons
Aright thanks
Can we build stacks of charred bones yet?
I don't think so
Gods, this is exhausting, every time I try and make a run to find a more easily defended base location - or indeed just somewhere I can get that cursed metal - it's just a non stop fight until a Morgen arrives and I have to run back home. Burning through resources quickly and not getting anywhere.. Sure is a war!
What i feel is pretty impressive is that our viking can reassemble all the bone fragments into nice looking bones while making the stacks 😄
War biome do be war-like that sometimes.
Yeah, I only wish that damn metal was a little easier to get to, at least a little - enough to unlock some stuff. I'm rocking lvl 3 mistlands stuff still, which makes it scary whenever the bigger baddies make an appearance, which they rarely make alone.
build ontop of more or less anything. or raise ground.
You must not fear. Fear is the enemy.
Yeah my outpost is raised tall enough that the morgens can't get to me, hence I run back there like good old Sir Robin whenever they come at me
raise ground right next to the flametal towers and build a small wooden bridge or smth. or build a small platform and slap a workbench, stonemason and a big portal down?
I have found one vein, it is far enough from base that anytime I have fought my way there it is nightfall again, and I'm not standing around in the open there at night, so I fight my way back. More often than not with a morgen at my heel haha. Gonna try and get a new portal up closer, and take it step-by-step.
I haven't unlocked the big portal yet, guess I need metal first 😄
no
but same principle applies. u can portal and sleep. or u take over a fortress without breaking it
I have yet to explore the Ashands properly, so far only running back and forth along this narrow strip of land between the ocean and the lava sea. In one direction I have spotted a metal vein a hundred or so meters into the lava. Not made it close enough to try and get to it yet.
well coming from someone who also struggled for 2 weeks without much progress in ashlands: take over a fortress with building over the walls. it makes things much much easier, since you are protected
Will try once I find one
i wonder if we can build inside instances like caves. would be nice to do so, but i doubt.
After one full week down there this is as far as I have come: #screenshots message
yeah, thats not a lot..
Haha I know
do u have a fire staff?
It is now wall decoration, didn't like it
it makes things a lot easier
I could barely kill seekers with it, I doubt I'd do any better against the mobs down there
Definitely a skill issue, I'm simply more comfortable with swords and bows
its actually the best weapon for taking over fortresses i'd say.
and in general it is good against the skeletons. now on morgens i'd say meh... but for valkyries.. chefskiss
Ugh, another freaking Morgen, give me a break you big bony bugs!
😄
Just remember, this is the heavily nerfed version of Ashlands.
It used to be better. 😏
more wasting time standing on a raised wall shooting fireballs down
Fire Magic 😴
ok tough guy. getting ignored unless you say you cleared all game with fists 😏
What does my finding fire magic boring compared to elements like lightning/frost have to do with toughness?
I just find it to be the most vanilla, most over-used element. 🤷♂️
You can enable that using commands 🙂
banter
Well, after this last outing I think I have enough asksvin skins to make a cape and the Ask suit
Always something!
ah yes. need tons of the toxic lightning booger balls
Aright, it took less than 30 seconds after I donned the Asksvin Cape before I jumped from my tower and almost died
Feather cape withdrawal syndrome
Ashen Cape >
Need metal first 😦
./spawn metal 😏
It's becoming tempting, that one lone metal vein I found is taunting me from the lava sea. But I think it is really too far out to even try to mine it. I should probably just move on and come back to that later when I'm less squishy.
You are bound to find more 😄 dont worry too much about one
So do the right thing and keep the feather cape
No capes!
All capes!
You can't wear all capes 😉
You can 😄 just not at once 😉
Would the capes all be attached to each other, making a very long cape?

Crap, I keep forgetting I don't have the feather cape anymore, it's almost killed me three times already
So put it back on
Why are you randomly jumping off things?
Because feather cape is great and you quickly learn to do that if you use it 😄
You and I "learn" very differently.
You are not learning by reading the descriptions? 😮
If I had superman skin I wouldn't walk in front of traffic knowing it couldn't hurt me.
Just because I have feather cape doesn't mean I jump off everything.
Because that would cause trouble even for someone else, not just you 😉
So no, having free landing did not "quickly learn" me to just jump off everything all the time always.
What magic weapon should I get first?
Staff of protection and staff of embers i would say
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
All of them will be helpfull 🙂 but depending on how you play some more than others
I’ll get the staff of embers
I would really suggest you get also the staff of protection, it will act as your hp basically
Staff of Staffing
Use to hire people do to things.
If used by Electronic Arts, fire half of your people without cause.
😏
the ALT attack is to fire people in groups? 🤔
I need my attack first
Yes!
And the block is "move standard features into DLC and charge for them individually" 😏
You shouldn't fully swap to magic until you have a staff of protection or you will die very easily
I’m not fully swapping yet
"die very easily" -- oh ye of little faith rolling!
Trying to get to the upper floors of these ruins, involves a fair bit of jumping. With the cloak you have more control and don't fall as fast when you miss. When there's lava below that is not insignificant 😄
I found bog witch and wanted to check the feasts but the most i can get is 45 health 45 stamina
look at duration 😉
You get new feast after each defeated boss 🙂
Its not worth this early no? Only later, seems like my normal food is way better
One feast can be used 10 times and each use lasts 50 minutes
but yes. it's intended not to replace all other food and just be "the best"
Worth is subjective to the individual...
They're also useful to get a more specific ratio of health and stamina
Ah okay then, i thought it was just overall best food
no no
You're trading stats for duration of use.
So in general Feasts are great.
In combat normal food is better.
it all depends on your needs still
So I accidentally led a gjall to my portal and it won’t despawn
Kill it
Gotcha thank you lads
The only "overall best" things in the game are Tasty Mead and fucking swords until they fix the MTP bull.
I have a level 2 draugr fang
The thing i was most hyped about is the scythe lol its so good
That's what you're supposed to have. Plains doesn't have a bow.
The issue is level 2
It should be good enough
A gjall takes increased pierce damage if you hit the eggs
Any tips for sealed tower mini boss? Im abt to head to it
Pro Tip: Don't die.
Ive got lvl 3 plains armor , porcupine and lvl 4 frostner
The porcupine will be best
Frostner 🤢
Lowkey back when i played in 2021 frostner felt op, now i felt like it has been nerfed
Porcupine and iron mace did more for me than frostner
don't think we nefed it 🤔
-# You lost me at " i "
If they nerf the knockback on it, I will consider it a great weapon.
If you used the frostner to fight lox, stone golems and moder, they all resist the frost damage
Maybe its just placebo
Btw this chat is great everyone here is nice and always helps ty all
Hehe, not everyone would agree with you 😄 but glad it feels that way
so it becomes better if we nerf it 🤔
Is Ashlands terrain generally a little buggy? I am finding a few "gaps" in the ground where you can see the nothingness beyond. Can't remember seeing such gaps in other biomes, except for one big one once, but that was a loading glitch and disappeared when I reloaded.
Yes, because my weapon shouldn't make it harder for me to kill things by punting them away.
Keep the strong knock on the secondary attack so I can choose when I want to make space, but the primary shouldn't push that ridiculously hard.
indeed
Nah, screw this less-stamina-use-<bleep> I'm putting the feather cape back on
find more 😂
Found another - it is quite near the first one but even further out into the lava sea
i honestly would say one further out is better, because its less likely skeletons will run into you
There's a minor horde of twitchers shambling about out there even now
Twitchers aren't that bothersome though, just annoying really
I led the gjall away and murdered the ticks, got my sap and made the ember staff
But I need to grow turnips to use it
😂
seeker aspic
I don’t have royal jelly either
you can actually grow turnips in the mistlands for some reason
it doesn't make sense logically why most shouldn't grow in meadows.
but it makes sense gameplay wise? a bit?
You can't get a neck pond outside meadows
I refuse to move all of my stuff
Heheh killing blobs has nearly flattened all terrain near my outpost, every tree is gone and just about half remains of the nearest grausten cliff. Good for visibility, I can see the baddies coming from far away. I'm thinking I might as well expand the shack a bit if I'm gonna be stuck here for long.
Necks deserve the clean, calm waters of the Plains.
Don't know what you mean.
Some great optimism on Reddit. Speculating this or next month for a PTB.
*Necks deserve the hot, hellish lava of the Ashlands
fixed your message for ya
Their ancestors are living there already
#1024264966712340510 is the best place for this. We'd advise against just giving your information out like that.
does the sealbreaker get consumed when you use it?
:( no decorative sealbreaker for my magic shop :(
any tips on fighting the Queen? I have a level 1 Staff of Embers, level 2 Mistwalker, 3 carapce shield, helm, chestplate, and fenris pants (ik im losing out on a lot of armour by keeping the pants but the speed reduction is killing me)
rn my food is Seekr Aspic, Misthare Supreme, and Bread
no
oh nice. just before our vacation period starts in sweden
I know, it makes literally no sense but people like to guess.
Ah, that's assuming it's this year (please tell me it's this year)
And yes, I know you can't do that.
Wow, no pressure then. Best start booking my flights.
What, that the release date is my responsibility? Probably best not.
deep north thing out after Derek as tried it on smiffe's private gaming rig
When is holiday period in Sweden again?
I'm kinda selfishly hoping DN doesn't come out when I'm on my Eurotrip in July haha, won't have a PC with me. Might have to use Smiffe's gaming rig too if it does come out then 😛
I think you'll be absolutely safe for the summer.
I think so too, but you never know. (my guess for DN release is around the release anniversary in February)
I hope they don't wait until then just because of the anniversary if it happens to be ready before that though. People put too much stock in the anniversary thing.
Oh I don' think they'll wait because of it, more like push harder to make it, they have got a lot of things to do before all of that patch is done, I assume.
the Queen just pushed me through the map :')
She thicc, she does that sometimes.
moder >
is there a way to farm fish without fishing
sometime, fish jumps out of the water and you can just pick them up
would a huge dock work then
what are the best weapons/staffs for Ashlands? and should I switch out feather cape for wolf cape?
Specifically: Is Mistwalker better or Silver Sword?
are the building channels fully unused or what
I'm having a baby girl at the end of the month, I hope to one day play Valheim with her, any baby crib build ideas for Valheim?
I like feather cape there, just use some fire resistance mead when you encounter enemies that do fire damage (there is not many of those there) and in terms of weapons Mist and Silver Sword are actually both very good, I'm not sure which one is actually better
Mist would be better for the enemies that are not weak to spirit, but for the charred etc the Silver might be better
or very close to each other
So I should double up on swords? Since I’m finding the frost staff not only impossible to aim with, but also that when it does hit it does no damage.
Man, I really need to start replanting my barley. I keep settling for 5 stacks of flower but I run out very quickly.
Magic works too, but I prefer embers + protection for staves, frost is not bad either, but mage is better if you got some skills in elemental and blood magic
I love to play hybrid, mage and melee, heavy armour, 1 health 1 stam 1 eitr food, sword and shield and bow maybe atgeir, and staff of embers and staff of protection
Is embers actually good in the Ashlands? I thought most enemies sans volutres would be immune to fire.
works surprisingly well, until you get the new goated ashlands staves
What are they? I know about the Elder staff
||Staff of the Wild is goat, Troll Staff is also useful for some scnearios||
Ahh I see
||and Dundr is very situational, a magic shotgun kinda||
So far my biggest issue has been starred warriors and maybe slimes, any tips on those?
slimes you can i'frame (roll)
the starred things I just try to kill them before they kill me, bubble up and use the green staff and go ham with sword or something, retreat if your bubble breaks
thats how I do it
Wait, so is blood magic actually viable in a solo play?
yes in hybrid playstyle it definitely is, the better the higher your skill
also full mage works for some people very well too, depends on the person
How do you level blood magic? Since there’s no hitting stuff like with embers/frost. Do you gain xp when you just use it?
You gain xp every time your magic shield breaks, and every time one of your summoned mobs hits something
Blood magic is essential for a full mage build
You can also level it by digging out a greydwarf spawner and using dead raiser to make archer skelletons and be on a platform and shoot greydwarves, or do it with a swamp spawner (is a bit complicated to build these spawners) as the archers shoot you get blood magic experience
I have about 8 summons out all the time, all bubbled. lol bloodmagic + elemental makes everything ez. Don’t even have to fight. Stand back and let the mob destroy it all.
Modded?
You can only summon a max of 4
you can cast barrier and go all out with damage, can be less worried about dodging every single attack lol. Before i started epic loot i used staff of protection and the berserkir elec axes, very good dmg focused build, fenris armor for movement speed and you can go wild
4 skeletons with undead raiser. Wolf totem. Drake totem. Tarmancer totem. Blob totem.
Modded
And that’s without summoning 2 each of the others.
Yea ofc
Also, magic shield is amazing as it completely negates all damage - even if the mob hitting you does more damage than the shields health
So as long as your shield is up, you are guaranteed to avoid damage and be able to parry mobs without anything side effects
I'd personally keep that to #mods-discussion because it will confuse the heck out of people here, especially the newbies.
Beat his ass with a mace?
He takes double damage from blunt. And half damage from pierce.
He’s only gonna heal if you aren’t hitting him
Hit him more!
So Iron Mace/Sledge are your top weapons.
Poison resistance mead
Raised Hand = Swipe. Roll into him.
Both Hands on Belly = Poison Vomit, either backroll twice or turn around and sprint for 2s.
Hand in Armpit = Adds spawn, turn around, run in direction he is face. One shot when they land with Iron Mace or Sledge.
He is a literal zero-damage fight.
Fists are enough.
Go get more.
You never stop needing iron.
BBQ Bonemass
Bronze mace will work, but for an extra efficient strategy, you can use stag breaker
Just jump on Bonemass’s summoning altar or his head and smack him repeatedly
A huge chunk of working people take their vacation in July. So, basically, from about Midsommar (around June 21st) to the first week of August not much gets done in the country. First week of August is normally spent complaining about how it was raining the entire vacation, so nothing gets done then either.
Thanks perfect, that’s when I’m in Europe for most of that time
Some say Silver sword deals more damage against the charred due to their weakness against spirit damage and Mistwalker against everything else, Silver weapons also use less stamina. But the frost damage of Mistwalker is also useful for slowing targets.
But if blunt weapons are more for you, Frostner is also useful in Ashlands due to its spirit damage and the combination of frost damage and knockback which can easily keep walking warriors out of your reach.
someone wanna play?

thanks
welcome over you aswell 😄
Thanks, was born in Europe but live in Australia 🙂
most swedes take vacation between mid june to late August 🤔
like between minimum 3 to 5 weeks is the most common pick
Usually same here, just before or after Midsummer to August.
6 weeks for me this year, but haven’t had a long holiday since 2018
paid or unpaid?
Paid
because that's the thing here. we have paid vacations yearly 👀
sounds like a Eurotrip then 😮
I will mostly miss the winter here, and have autumn > summer > spring > summer 🙂
which ones? (unless you want to stealth run europe) 😄
Germany Italy Austria UK etc we only booked the international flights so far
Mostly family and friend visiting and relaxing
nice nice 🙂
And enjoy German beer prices compared to the Australian ones…
Haven’t been to Sweden since 2001 haha, maybe next trip
oh? is it that big of a diffrence in prices? 🤔
Yeah Australia is expensive for that
just like sweden vs norway then 🤔
And Finland.
Yeah Finland costs the most out of those when I was there
Norway wasn’t too bad compared to here haha
Where have you visited in Finland?
Only Helsinki, travelled more in the other Scandinavian countries
Was to Australia (Brisbane) with work in 2013, dying to some day go back on vacation instead. Going down under to spend 10 days locked away in conference rooms, not getting to see or do anything - and then go home - it was torture. Still blown away work sent me there anyway.
This is the Valheim chat
Ohyeah, ummm... Necks, necks are like saltwater crocs, but cuter!
I’m working on taming the bigger version, but I won’t settle for less than a 2* 😅
I think it might be a very hard ask since I haven’t even so much as SEEN a 2* asksvin, let alone managed to kill one 😂
I need to make a compound so I can capture one. Once tamed they lay eggs right, so you can hatch and breed them somewhere else? Only seen a one-star so far but that one came at me together with a morgen and a small horde of charred, so trying to catch it was not first on my mind.
Same!
That is exactly my plan as well
Capture a 2*, get it to lay eggs, transport the eggs and be done with it
I also started clearing out a large flat area for this purpose
I’m planning on converting it into a small Ashlands village when I’m done
Lava blobs have done all the clearing for me near my outpost, those things really go pop with a bang
But by the dandruff on odin’s fluffy beard there are so many charred 😂
Nice!
I’m hoping my troll traps will do the trick for catching one of those 2*’s
I just need it to stand still for a few minutes so I can get out of the box I will put them in
Just need to be careful I don’t stand in that trap myself 😂
By the way, is there a "known-issues" list somewhere? So I don't report things already known? Been seeing quite a few terrain glitches in Ashlands, of a kind I've never seen in other biomes
Not sure
Haven’t seen one
Near my base I have three or four small gaps in the ground where you see the void under the world.
@heady parcel @rain flare https://www.valheimgame.com/support/ and there Is a known issues tab 🙂
Thanks!
you can usually pickaxe + use the hoe to smooth those out
Thanks, I'll do that - the Void scares me! 😱
if you move into or over it 👀 your character ||will just walk over it and don't fall in||
Wait... The void or D void? XD
*Da Void ;p
That's good to know, but I guess it's like those glass bridges over canyons, your spine won't trust what your feet can feel when your eyes tell you that there is no ground...
SMIFFFFFE
I wouldn't either trust it 😄
SMIFFE I DID YOUR CHALLENGE BUILD.
I REACTED TO IT 👀
#building-screenshots message No? lol
LoL 😂
See? Sildar knows how to react to things 😛
aaaaw. it was vincys in #screenshots 👀
I have a ton of soft tissue now, now I’m just looking for an infested mine for royal jelly
Luckily I can deal with ticks better thanks to my himminafl
I must have landed in a terrible part of ashlands dangit, everything is so hard to get to. Ruins are either out in the ocean or in the lava sea, the only metal I have spotted is far out into the lava. There is precious little actual ground to be honest. I think I might just pack everything on my ship and sail a bit along the coast and see if I find a better spot...
I’d agree that sounds like the better alternative 🤭
Better to relocate and start again than settle for a sub-optimal Ashlands experience
Besides, you really need that flametal
I swear atgeirs just destroy ticks
"Pick some vineberries" they said. Well duh, let me just manoeuvre my agile canoe made of marble so I can reach the bushes, ohwait, there comes another sea monster, oh and some birdies, oh and here comes their big sister... And on it goes haha. Struggle makes ye harder, it is said. I'll be tough as nails after all this! 😄
is it me or is the catapult completely useless...fun for the first 2min but then you never use on build one again
10000% agreed
A group of us who played in the beta have complained about this and I am really hoping that the dev’s change the way you interact with charred fortresses by forcing you to use either the catapult or battering ram to break down the gates
We used to be able to use catapults to farm flametal as an alternative use for the things, but I see that has since been patched so flametal deposits are “too hard” to break with explosives
At the moment - especially once you familiarise yourself with the layout of a fortress - it is just SO much easier to build a ladder over the fort wall rather than smashing it to pieces with a ram or catapult
And the ram is better at smashing than the catapult, which kinda makes sense, but it would be so much more satisfying if the catapult was more useful / powerful
Seriously, I want the catapult to be a good alternative to the ram
The only reason I would use to catapult currently is if I am trolling with myself 😂
Ramming an Ashlands fortress gate often causes all the enemy mobs inside to pile up at that entrance and spill out like a bunch of ghouls from a clown car 😭
So a catapult actually doing a good job for breaking down the gates at a distance would be fantastic - much less likely to get slaughtered as the enemies won’t all be in my face once that wall comes down
But alas, you can just build your way into the Ashlands forts with a crafting table and less than a stack of logs
Why on earth would I bother with smashing the walls of said forts if I can just jump over them and destroy the spawners once I am inside?
All you end up with is creating a long list of fortress safe spaces in the Ashlands where you can just jump in and out, which your enemies physically cannot get into, and won’t even attempt to destroy (which they can’t do anyways)
It will be useful for going to deep north
Smiffy? I am very curious upon this subject…
Any plans for placements of charred warrior “wards” that prevent us from placing and building things until we break it?
Meme answer 🤭😅
it's dmg, range and AOE is so bad you do better with Staff of Embers
It needs to do way more DMG, AOE and range than the staff of embers which is small and portalable otherwise, what's the point
Serious answer
Accurate, but still a meme ❤️
Well, it should be a mobile ranged siege engine
Problem is the game doesn’t currently offer any properly functional or incentive way to utilise said siege engine properly
I can decimate a fuling camp with staff of embers (level 80 Elemental)
But with a catapult...it was like throwing smalls stones...from a static location
Launch yourself from the catapult and shoot with the staff of embers from the sky
I think I would get one shot off then overshoot the camp by 100 miles and land in the ocean
but ok!
When you start moving you lose the velocity from the catapult
So you can easily stay above the fulings
I've not done extensive flying test with cata but will defo try now
Still a meme my guy 😂
Seriously effective, yes
Intended game design…?
Highly unlikely 🤭😅
yea, prevent building around forts should have been obvious
It would be very hard to accidentally make catapults launch players in the way they do
Got a couple of vineberries, whee!
I'd be happier if they didn't sink though, lost half of them in the ocean
Is the fire staff meant to do hardly any damage?
No, but your elemental magic skill is probably very low.
Keep fighting with it and soon enough it will catch up with your other weapons
Ok
Mine can now destroy Ashlands enemies which I assume have fire resist and I use it on Gjall too
So yeah, keep using it, its awesome
I guess due to the blunt dmg
The blunt damage is the main thing yeah
also really good at killing hares
Thinking to mihawk from the one piece live action 😂
“I don’t hunt rabbits with a cannon” 🤣
Oh sweet, you can't grow vineberry seeds, back to square one. Whee!
Meanwhile in Valheim…
🔥 🐇
You can!
Just plant close to a wall
you can grow them...
haha the AOE blunt is the only way to catch the sneaky buggers
You must have placed them incorrectly
I meant the seeds, I can't plant the fruit to grow a "seed vine" as with the other growable veggies.
ah yes that is true
They don't resist fire damage
Ah - gotcha
they might...
The good news is that place where you found the vine berries originally will spawn more later
So just give it a day or two then go back and farm some more
And whenever you farm the berries they have a chance to drop seeds, so next time you might get lucky
Hi folks
How are you all?
Good to hear
What do you do btw?
Cool haha
Sup
btw your pfp is cool
really hope the deep north is walled off by a forcefield that just electrocutes you like a mosquito just to dunk on people who try that 😂
It is useful for transportation. Build one in the highest mountain you can find, equip Feather cape and you will fall with the style for a long distance.
Why
We've seen Hervor Bloodtooth get to deep north in a longship. If it's accessible with something from swamps, why not something from ashlands?
No, I'm not a bot haha, I'm a book reader and also a concept artist
i said why in the sentence 😂
"message hidden from likely spammer"
I mean profile picture
What character is it?
I don't know about this character
why am I looking like a bot to you?😅
Trollstav is probably the most fun I've had in Valhiem, I hope they do more staff like this
Frost troll or golem
Lol, I'm not Ai hahhhah
my friend I dont know about the character or the actor because I never seen it before
i mean. if you don't know the character, u wouldn't know if the name is fake 😂
