I think this game would be better with the addition of a double barreled shotgun
With the relevant sound effects
do we have evidence they copy valheim directly? Irongate could sue that game if they directly copy valheim.
If you start down the rabbit hole of "copied from another game" -- everyone can sue pretty much everyone. 😄
One of my favorite memes is:
Writes- "OMG YOU COPIED ME, PLAGERISM!"
Programmers- "Dude I borrowed your code."
"Lol, it isn't even my code."
That's how it actually works in IT xD
We just google for the needed things and use it
Not just in IT 😄
I would say like half of "programming skill" is actually "knowing where to look up the stuff you don't know."
And this skill is more important than knowing everything/something for sure
No, I don't think they Palworlded Valheim. 😂 But there are definitely some strong similarities. Maybe not to the point of legal action, but definitely some things that make me go "Huhh...well that definitely does look like the Meadows." 👀
From a small amount of gameplay I just looked at, it seems like a very different game
how long do summons last from dead raiser?
Until HP goes to 0 or you leave the area (they don't go through portals and can get stuck)
meh - 'clones' of (popular) games are always a thing. They could make their own version of meadows and that is allowed (using their own assets, not copied). Ethical - its a conversation. Illegal - nope.
Most games tend to always have influence from those before it. Take what is good, fix what is bad, and you have a better game maybe...
I'm honestly not bent out of shape over it or anything. It's obviously not a crime to make something similar to something else. That's nothing new. But I was a little taken aback by how jarringly similar some of it was, even down to the UI and the inventory.
yeah - I havent seen it myself yet, but I dont doubt. tbh suprised its taken this long for a game to come out that is heavily inspired by Valheim....
"Theft" is the best form of flattery I guess. 😂
Finally got my dedicated up and running the other day, my friends and I came back to the game after not having played since very early alpha, holy crap its so good now. 😄
Goodness, I'm up to 16 iolite and still only seen ONE of the other two kinds... is that typical?
I need new update before I cry
Make it awhile before you cry
Best get some tissues.
Does the shield generator also prevent mobs from seeing you, like Haldor's bubble?
no also doesnt stop them attacking it just stops projectiles and weather, they will also attack you still if inside
Sausages are so good, oh my all-father.
Not too hard to produce much of it and very good.
They are indeed
One of the best foods in the games honestly
My main character uses them as a regular for all base work or exploration since they are so cheap
You’ll love one of the other foods you get in the mistlands - it’s like sausages but for stamina 🤩
I don't think I would phrase it quite like this... 😏
that's your mind running
Smiffe plz 😭
no
Wow, it’s something modern
Is the Huntsman bow worth it?
imo, Yes, it's an excellent bow and has the benefit of having the quietest arrowfall. (ie: it is the stealthiest bow you can build)
It’s very good and has the lowest detection radius of any bow in the game
Oh I've never even thought about the difference in stealth between bows.
Whether it’s worth it is up to you, if you have the iron to spare why not try it out?
I have fully upgraded Iron armor, sword and banded shield. I just got over 70 more iron after I've already used the iron I needed for crafting upgrades and everything I initally needed iron for. I'm just looking for things to use the iron on now to be honest.
Maces are nice...
Never tried maces.
You know enemies have resistances and weaknesses to different damage types? Maces dish out blunt damage, Swords deal slash (and a little pierce?) Bows deal pierce etc... maces are good for enemies with blunt weakness
You’ll want one for Bonemass. He is weak to blunt, resistant to slash and very resistant to pierce.
I assume skeletons are weak to blunt?
yes, very
Oh wow. Bonemass is the boss I found just recently.
I just went there earlier with skulls and skeleton remains, but I guess I have to burn something else.
No sword deals pierce
ah, wasn't sure if the m3 stab was pierce or slash, thanks
Upgraded maces are very good against Mr mass
Secondary attacks use the same damage types as the primary attack
I mean it would make sense if secondary on atgeir did slash and on sword did pierce based on the animation, but from a game balancing perspective it would be kinda broken tbh
i dont see how tbh, it would limit your moveset if you face a pierce resist/slash weak enemy
or vice versa
Only being able to use one attack effectively against an enemy would make combat less interesting
i mean, thats assuming that enemy has a weakness/resistance
just feel it makes sense as it matches the animations better
You know what every enemy in the game is vulnerable too???
I cast FIREBALL!!! 🔥
🔥
does it work against surtlings?
If that isn’t working…
I CAST….
UNDEAD LEGIONS!!! 😂😂😂
coz i kinda feel that it shouldnt
Technically it also does blunt damage, but no, it doesn’t 😂
They are immune to fire damage but will die instantly to the blunt damage
weak li'l mofos
||Hurls undead troll at surtling spawner from orbit||
Still no necks to summon
It should do splash damage! 💦
actually, i take that back about being weak, had the surtling raid recently.... i also play with fire hazards on...
yeah, bye bye base
🔥
🔥
Odin gives, Odin takes away
Hmmmm…
I believe the proper saying goes:
Odin gives, Thor takes away, Loki snickers in the cabinet.
and Baldr takes the fall
What hela doing
smouldering in the corner looking hot asf
What hela she wants I’d imagine 🤭
Blanchet made me feel things in that role
I really want a Loki Easter egg in the game
Odin and Thor are fun, but imagine a Loki prank just going off at random?
Like an item turning to coal, or moving to a different chest unexpectedly
Turning things into coal is what Thor does already
wasnt Loki Sleipnir's... mother?
Then you look for it and hear a chuckle
True
Loki Easter egg already exists, the wind changing direction against you whenever you decide to sail
Loki’s family is very messed up
But I want to hear chuckles or something as Loki make fun of me
The wind changing direction is just part of the game mechanics 🤭
I conclude that a loki easter egg may therefore contain a baby eight legged horse
played this game once when starfield released…bought xcloud abo to play via streaming but game was dogshit and instead i found valheim and played the whole month.
now i found geforce now free mode and already enjoy project zomboid over it in a few hours i’m going to buy valheim and loose my last irl moments.
Welcome brother!
Grab some mead, pull up a chair, tell us tales of your adventures!
Interesting... had a fallen valkyrie fly right over my new base in a charred fortress, she didn't do anything just hovered there and eventually moved on
Interesting I had some fly under shield and into fortress haha
didnt know the skulls extend underground
no, you will get a better one right after
Depends on what you value
Huntsman is good for stealth
The next bow hits harder and does passive poison damage on hit
I always skip draugr fang
There's always a better one right after, except for no bow in plains. Does this mean we should skip crude bow, finewood bow and spinesnap?
I’m using huntsman for my stealthy bow and knife playthrough
But my main character used draugr fang till I got an arbalest
I prefer the huntsman bow for drawing aggro in fuling camps and there's nothing else in plains I use a bow for
It's due to the fact that there's a much better one in mountains and no bow in plains and is crafted with a much easier metal that makes it worth skipping.
And literally all of those options are very cheap to craft and even upgrade, so the existence of a better option is more irrelevant
20 iron can be used for literally anything else, like the iron mace which is a must-have
I don’t make maces
Soooooo preference/playstyle choices 😂
I’d say that the only thing I am dead set on making with iron are crafting station upgrades, big boat, and iron pick
Anything else is kinda optional for me
Whatever my character's main weapon is, I always make an iron mace for Bonemass and stone golems.
Bow / pickaxe for me 😂
If I REALLY feel like a blunt weapon is necessary, I’ll make stag breaker for big ol blobbo 🤣
regardless of how i spec my char on any playthrough i usually always end up with Abyssal razor
some stuff is just too good to pass up
Abyssal razor is fun 🥰
Made life much easier for my trollhide/bow/knife character when I got one 🥰
And need I say I love the secondary on knives? 😂
Run at a mob, LEAP!, STABBY STABBY STAB!
The numbers are good but I hate the forced motion. If I want to move forwards I can do it anyway with a jump attack.
Especially if I can get it off while stealthed 🥰
I like the jump attack 😂🤭
It’s the whole reason I’m going a bow/knife run 🥰
I can imagine I’m going to have a lot of fun once I get skol+hoti
going full Skyrim sneaky archer eh?
Yeah, pretty much! 🤭
My favourite thing is that you can jump, then while in the air, jump attack again to extend the distance of your jump
I’ve killed a troll that way
Made me very happy in a silly kinda way 😂🤭
Jump then Jump Attack is some Legend of Zelda speedrunner strats.
What's next? Infinite Sword Glitch? 😏
dude i somehow have to get my iron back to my base tho i have no clue how far im gonna have to walk to get there 😭
its only 14 iron too so it feels not worth it
at this point im just thinking of briefly enabling portal items
Is the boat not an option?
well not entirely
somehow my boat got destroyed, i got zero clues where it is, how it got destroyed
like do boats suddenly get destroyed or?
Normally they break when you leave them near hostile mobs
Did you park it in the swamp? There are aquatic enemies in the swamp that love chomping boats almost as much as they love eating vikings
Trolls also hate boats
Neck too
Necks hate everything 😂🤭
if you were carrying cargo then there should be little crates floating near where your boat was, the nails however may be lost for good
Why they look like friend lol
no i parked them at my base, in meadows
could be necks ig, didnt realise they fucked up my boat tho :l
if friendshaped, why not friend
also youre saying that if you leave it near a swamp, it gets chomped but how are you supposed to carry stuff out the swamp with a boat then
Park it somewhere…
Less populated
park nearby, hoof it, hoe & cart
ah kk
or smelt locally
yeah im thinking of making a smelting base in the swamp
tho i dont know if hostiles attack it, cause greylings do
you better believe they will
tree houses are good other than a certain night time spawn
you can also just deconstruct the boat when you hit swamps and store it in a protected chest
aaah
Break the boat in shallow water and put mats in box until ready to sail
aye, by "deconstruct" i mean beat the shit out of the mast in shallowwater
do you get all the mats back?
the first world i played via xcloud i found a base spot that had 3 big stones near the shore which i used to integrate into my viking 🛖.
atm i’m searching around the coast from starting zone to find something equally worthy to start building my base around.
geforce now is much superior btw then xcloud xbox stream! xcloud had cost me 20 euro a month compared to geforce now which is free to use except for the requirement to relog every hour BUT it runs better and looks better 🙂
hourly relog sounds like a bit of a pita tbf but if its free then cant complain i guess
yeah but here it’s like 1-2 min max except for weekends nights then i need to play ps5 instead 🙂
also no mods but i love the base game.
glad you're having fun dude, make Odin proud
Bruh I just finished fully upgrading my new Huntsman bow.

Huntsman bow is good, don't worry too much about this
Huntsman bow still has its use cases
I just need to figure out what to burn to bring out Bonemass. Maybe Draugr trophies or something. Since skulls and bone remains didn't work.
🦴
WITHERED BONE
Correct! 😄
I saw it in my chest just now. Time to go smashy that bonemassy.
Do I need to start a new world to have ashlands? Never been on this area on this save before so it can be generated? Also what about upcoming new winter biome, I will have to start the new map again?
you should be fine as long as you havent discovered/built there
I was there but before on other older save, so I think I'm good, ty
Hey all, what's your favourite method for unstucking your boat from a sandbar or undersea rock?
Do you get out and mine the object it's stuck on, try and push it off, or just paddle endlessly
Sometimes I wish there was a magic wind staff that could do heavy knockback without doing damage to help get my ship unstuck >_>
I swear a lot. Then usually get out.. fight the mobs that come running, push the boat, then swear some more
Bonemass destroyed me
did you have any poison resist?
Nope
But the problem is mostly that I can barely damage him.
What are you using? Poison resist mead is also required
Fully upgraded iron sword.
Have to use a mace
Bruh
Doesent have to, but it is quicker
Use mace or iron sledge
He takes like .25 of the damage otherwise
Do I have to break his guard or something to stagger him?
frost arrows if you have patience
Mace it is then.
You can cheese by standing on top of the skull and just wail on him with the iron sledge
As long as I have the weapon I need I can certainly just destroy him normally.
he telegraphs his moves so you can dodgeroll avoid, with poison resist you can stay in his face for most of the fight and keep slapping that jelly
Alright, poison resistance mead and mace.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes
you killed any A-boms?
Mead is better than mask 🙂
A-boms? Those green jellies?
big stompy twig
4 legged stumpy bois 🙂
They mean abominations
Oh yeah. I've killed one or two.
The tree monsters that climb out of the ground
The root harnesk chest that you craft w those drops is hands down one of the best chest pieces in the whole game.
you should be able to craft armour from the abom drop that has innate poison resist (not quite as effective as the mead)
Sounds good. I have a thousand filled chests. It's been annoying trying to find somewhere to place my stuff.
Welcome to Valheim
The resin 😭
viking inventory simulator
True
s'all good, it all (mostly) comes in handy
Hopefully those superior chests she was talking about will be excellent.
I don't want to use iron on those other chests.
how do i find the server ip (the number i give to my friends to join) for my world
I wish i had more building range on these damn workbenches
Upgrading them increases their range slightly, or you just gotta make more
there will be a join code at the top once you load in
there isnt
ah alr
also if u are hosting from a hosting website then its different, and they should have given you the ip in the server details
im sure this has been asked a million times, but have there been any hints on the deep north's release date?
Then you have 1,000,000 answers you could've easily searched without having to ask due to the very extreme redundancy
My bad, biggles was correct. I meant chest piece.
Check the development blog. We got lots of hints in there to your own discretion and how schizo you wanna analyze it
I've maxed out everything and fully explored Ashlands, Thoroughly enjoyed it. Should I wait until Deep North or kill the Ash boss now?
Chest piece which increases inventory slots or weight load?
I suggest you re-read those messages
fight ash boss, its loads of fun and it wont change anything wether you do it now or later
Is deep north really the final biome
no there end of the world biome
It will be when it's released. #suggestion-discussion message
😭
That's a good thing
I know but also big sad
Not sure if you have found him yet but some Black Forests contain a friendly NPC that can sell you an item to increase carry weight. The chestpiece Kohlixen is referring to has pierce resist which can be very handy going forward, the headpiece from the same set has poison resist.
I wonder if they'll do dlc after the release
I mean he says flat out “no new content” so
You can stop wondering, because they won't.
They might, but it's a much better idea to search along the coast line of the Black forest.
Whens the next big update coming
You can find the answer in #news
Awesome, just found some, but it was quite far from my base. Hopefully 6 is enough because there was like 2 trolls on my tail as I ran back to my base
Oh that one! The belt. I already have it, though.
It depends what you need it for. For a cauldron it isn't. To make some bronze, it is, but there's only one useful item you can craft from it.
However, that useful item will open up a much more useful item, making it easier to transport any metal to your base.
I was just hoping to make some bronze I think, I want to get a bow so I can maybe take on some of these trolls
This may be an unpopular opinion, but for as awesome as Ashlands is, I feel like enemy spawns is a little overtuned (not talking about fortresses, just in general). I hope the next biome will be slightly more relaxed in that regard. Although I do appreciate being able to gather more materials due to this.
Maybe these are one-time spawns I'm running into, as I'm still exploring new territory. But Soooo many enemies constantly everywhere.
Oh boy you should have seen it before they were nerfed xD now they are pretty quiet and peaceful by comparison
Yea it was an endless onslaught on release. You could not catch a break. Had to spawn proof everything and pray
i remember seeing people barely land and take like 2 hours just to get a small base of operations going
Ah, back when it was fun.
Tbh it was pretty fun solo 😄 tho a bit chaotic
Ha! Wow! Glad I got a late start in that case
It feels tuned for groups at times for sure. My first fortress, I used the ballista and boy did I have no clue what I was in for. But that was freaking awesome.
Nah, its too easy now.
And no, it's not tuned for groups. The game already scales.
Not really 😄 it is meant to be quite challenging for solo, the whole game is balanced around solo play, but more players can certainly make it easier
Not saying it was, just feels that way sometimes. I do appreciate the challenge though.
A fallen valk, Morgan, asksvins and charred all at once is quite the battle
Definitely have learned to keep healing pots on me
Yep, the birds warn you to prepare for war 😄
Don't engage with everything at once. That WILL make things harder.
Unless you enjoy the chaos and fighting ofcourse 😄
I try to avoid death walks if possible. Dont mind the occasional tough battle though haha
My only real gripe is lack of correct gems in fortresses. My ratio is 16:1:1 at the moment.
It is really holding me back it feels like with my gear haha
RNG will be RNG, sometimes it works in your favour and sometimes it really doesent xD
yea i think it took me 4 fortresses before i found my first iolite
I am happy to say the 16 is in the one I prefer though....
just unlucky
Iolite 🙂
yea that one
Just can't use most of it until I get the forge upgraded
There's no way to get 16 gems in one fortress.
I didn't get them from one fortress
thats not what they were implying
What lvl is it currently?
That was in total 😄
Unless it was 5 and now it is 4
Thats it 😄
I thought I remember seeing 6 though. For black forge right?
5 is the highest so far.
Yep, Black Forge can currently be at most lvl5 since we have 4 upgrades for it, Black forge cooler, Vice, Metal cutter and Gem cutter 🙂
Ok, that all adds up
The gem cutter is what I removed. Need to get it back asap
But it was worth it for trollstav lol
Hehe, it is fun to use 😄
Oh no good to see you again! looks at you with puppy eyes
You can take the trolls on with the crude bow too. Only need to get used a bit to it.
It may be a better idea to make bronze, then craft nails and a Karve.
That will make exploration easier, will make transporting ores easier and once you got that done, crafting bronze weapons and tools will be easier too as you're able to craft more bronze in one go.
Hey, here is a weird issue I have been having recently... sometimes when I sleep, I get my full rested bonus (currently 22 minutes for level 15 rested), but other times I end up with only 8 minutes. My base is in the air, close enough to an outside fire on the ground, that I can sleep. Seems weird that it sometimes gives full buff and sometimes only 8 minutes when I sleep...
I'm guessing I need to be closer to fire?
Try to always wait a few seconds in the place that gives you the 15 rested buff
So start sleep after I see rested 15? I might be going to sleep prior to that occurring? That would make sense...... didn't think of that
No no, after you wake up wait a tiny bit before going to anywhere, stay a few seconds in the area that give you 15 comfort
Oh, well I do do that when the full sleep doesn't accomplish it for me. I guess I was always under the impression sleeping automatically gives you whatever the rested bonus is for the comfort level at your bed area. So you actually have to be in that area for however many seconds it takes, even when sleeping?
In other words, thought sleeping auto triggered it.
That should be correct, i am not sure why it sometimes works and sometimes it does not for you 🤔
Well I still find it weird that it gives 8 minutes sometimes. Would think it would be all or nothing.
Must be getting 3 comfort level or whatever it is for 8 minutes
But it is 15 everywhere in the room my bed is in
I've become addicted to valheim mods.
Gotta love the crafting proc when making arrows. Now I have 101 frost arrows...
It's something 😄
FYI, using a bow on a troll will be very terrain-specific. Also, the bow doesn't technically require ||bronze|| to craft.
what happens to my world when the deep north comes out? :o
You get Deep North.
yeah but does it mess the world up?
cause in some games it does when a new biome comes out
You should have no problems if you didnt explore the placeholder we have now 🙂
Unexplored areas will generate new content, explored areas won't.
oki good to know :) thanks
I figure ||Bronze|| is kind of the next step in progression anyways so I'm just going to go for it. Any tips for the dungeon I have to do to get these ||heat cores|| (or whatever you call them) for the ||smelter||?
Club will be very usefull there 🙂 or torch
Try to upgrade your shield and learn to parry; if you aren't great at parrying, practice on boars. You know you parry instead of just blocking when the enemy takes knockback or shows a staggered animation.
You can upgrade your club with ||bone fragments|| from ||skeletons in the overworld||
Is the upgraded club better than a flint spear you think?
against skeletons 100%
Against normal enemies, clubs do 40% less damage, but skeletons ||are resistant to pierce and vulnerable to blunt||
Alright awesome, one more thing... Normal wood shield or the wooden fence once or whatever it's called?
In almost all situations the normal shields are better than tower shields
Tower shield blocks more if you simply turtle, but slow you down a lot when you have them out. With regular shields you can parry, not just block passively - which can stagger enemies.

Which is a lot of words to say the tower shield is noob-friendly. It feels easier to use at first, while one will quickly learn to appreciate the regular shields.
Stamina and stagger are life
Gotcha, I think I'll go with the normal shield then. Parrying isn't all too hard yet, I've played a few other games with the same mechanic and the technique sort of translates
I imagine enemies get more difficult to parry as you progress though
The timing is always the same, but some attacks are too strong to parry without enough max health and the right shield
There are some with slower attack animations that I struggle to parry consistently. Which is bad for me since slow attacks usually means hard-hitting attacks...
Me when trying to dodge ||troll attacks|| for some reason
Parry and dodging slow attacks in Valheim is a learning curve
Yeah, half the time I try to parry golems I wait too long and end up blocking with my face
Heh. I'm typically on the early side
Only 1 attack of each type of golem is actually worth trying to parry 😄
Grey dwarf brute took me lil bit to master I remember. Off compared to other dwarf. Then wraith are another wonky one to perfect
Ghost Parry is God tier
It is one of the harder ones at the beginning of the game 😄
Completely counting on the noise it makes as a cue
I was so scared of ghosts when I did my first burial chambers, first one I met pnwed me so bad I'm still traumatised
Room had a spawner and a two-star skelly too so it took me an evening to get my stuff back
Skelly was really more dangerous - but I knew how to handle them, the ghost was new and scary...
And early on they hit pretty hard too
I wonder why people keep recommending club for the burial chambers. Sure, enemies there are weak to blunt...but odds are you have level 3 flint axe at that point, but only level 1 club, because upgrading it costs bone fragments which you won't have in abundance before doing a few chambers. And club needs to be level 3 in order to beat level 3 flint axe in damage, considering the weakness. And most likely the player will have much better axe skill at that point, making it equal even at level 3...
I normally use an axe for them
yeah, that's what I do too
I'm shield and spear in the black forest. So parry into spear works just fine on skellys
personally, once I get atgeir, I don't let go and only use iron mace on bonemass and golems. For everything else there's the big pokey stick
oh, and axe for abominations
Level up the skill from the beginning
Funnily enough, I did this on literally the first try, but still struggle with trolls
Damn fulings running around bullying the greys in my forest. Nobody allowed to do that but me!
Axe and spear are probably my highest leveled weapon skills by this point. I'll begin to level clubs at this point in prep for BM
Technically torch is the best weapon for burial chambers, but most people don't like crafting a bunch of those
I normally don't get all the way to a ||tanning rack|| before hitting burial chambers, and a lvl 2 club (which is reasonable if you kill some skeletons prior to entering the chambers) is better than a lvl 2 flint axe
I tend to always bring my entire toolbox. Got the club for skellies, torch for ghosts. Axe for greys, spear/bow for the blue guys, depending on how brave I am...
But once I have a sword that's used for nearly everything..
No hoe on the go? 😔
Only when I go making roads
My spear and hoe are with me to the end lol
I bring a hoe everywhere but never use it outside of my base unless I'm flattening space for a portal or boss
That's about it too while adventuring
Holy crap, I was fighting a seeker invading my shroom farm and suddenly this skelly comes marching in and nearly scared me out of my chair, looked so badass. Turns out it was my skeleton, old Helga. Must be two weeks since I spawned her, not been back since then. Forgot all about it...
I thought they'd despawn if you portaled away.
drop deep north guys
They will when it's done.
gets empty biome with nothing but some trees and one mob
well there was a few rocks too right
makes it worth it if i find rocky
Giant rocky 👀
The Deep North boss is just a giant Rocky? Makes sense.
🤙 best biome
Anybody want to play?
check out #1024264966712340510 yo
Yo! Is anyone else experiencing some stutter while doing random thinks (like walking, or just being in the menu) on PC?
i'm seeing a lot of different designs/ideas for afk blood magic farming, what would you guys say is the most efficient/best for fully afk?
dev commands raiseskill bloodmagic 100
I'd rather watch paint dry than blood magic farm
I'd rather just play the game than farm any skill, frankly.
both very helpful answers thanks
I'd uninstall the game and never play it again before trying to figure out how to 'afk farm'
What a useless waste of time and energy
Idk guys after playing 10 hrs I still feel like I haven't hit the good part yet
When does it get "good"?
Serious question
Where are you at now?
"Get good" is subjecthive btw 😛
I’d say it gets good at the third biome
Still at the beginning parts. I haven't even beat the first boss. I'm trying to get good armor and weapons but i assume I have to beat the first boss to unlock forge is what I found found online through a wiki
For the first boss you should have a level 2-3 shield and flint weapon, and a full set of level 1 leather armor. You don’t need anything from any other biomes, which includes the forge.
How do you even unlock the leather armor? What crafting stations do I need to get that part
I have enough flint Idk what unlocks with that
You need to build an improvement next to your workbench to upgrade it. These are build pieces marked with a star on the build menu, in the crafting tab.
Okay noted
Valheim is a game where picking up everything you come across is vital for unlocking crafting recipes. If you're missing a recipe it'll be because you haven't picked up the remaining item or are at the wrong crafting station. Even not having upgrade parts next to stations will hide content
If you’re willing to build an AFK farm for skills why aren’t you willing to use commands for skills?
unneccessarily hostile... i know HOW to afk farm, its the same idea as in games like minecraft. but for blood magic there's a few different methods. not sure why you're being a dick about it
playing with friends, and we're all in agreement that console commands is considered cheating but simply using game mechanics while afk is acceptable. i'm not really looking to debate on the merits or differences between the two, was just looking for input on my specific question
setting up the farm still requires some bit of effort and planning, rather than simply typing in a string of text and getting what you want immediately
either way, i've learned my lesson and won't ask any further questions
Oh honey you can ask questions and dont need to justify yourself to these grumps
(id give you a proper reply but I dont like blood magic lol)
Man it feels good when you parry a greyling with the long shield and he goes flying 🤣
Long shield? Tower shields can’t parry.
But they have got high block force, perfect for pushing greylings
(and nothing else)
To me there's absolutely zero difference between raiseskill X and afk farms
Besides one saivng on power and time
well good thing we arent all one big entity ^_^
aye aye
I just dont get why no one gave an actual reply and instead people focused on if its cheating or not, kinda odd and happens often here
but eh maybe bedtime for me before i part with more wisdom
🗿 the wisdom being setup an afk farm with swamp spawners
one google search arrives you there
"hey guys how do i xyz"
"id rather stab myself in the eye before i xyz"
literally this lol
aye as i said there's a good few different examples so i was asking what other users preferred. it's such a weird reaction lmao..
I searched up "valheim AFK blood magic farm" and a really good Reddit post popped up. It appeared to utilize ||summoned skeletons shooting downwards at draugr summoned by a body pile that someone dug down into a pit and built a structure around||.
i'm probably just gonna set up a graydwarf farm and then slightly modify it to house two archer skellys. i tried a crypt with a body pile but they got bored and ended up killing the pile
ohh yeah like one that spawns in the overworld, i completely forgot about those lol i was using one in a crypt
so what you found kinda combines the two ideas i'm considering
check #self-promotion
we got it to work ¯_(ツ)_/¯
we got there
I haven't used blood magic much but afk farms in Valheim have always been a bit tricky to navigate compared to games such as Terraria or Minecraft.
I've seen people both here and on youtube raise walls around a greydwarf farm and dig a pit, or make a stone wall around a surtling spawner with water immediately around the spawner so they die instantly.
Even then afk farming - outside of greydwarves - is a slow process as some spawners are specifically designed to only spawn mobs every 5 minutes or so.
Some people even use wolves, lox, or asksvins to auto farm greydwarves and I've done a bit of that myself
I think most of us that replied simply don't do it so didn't have a solution to offer.
yeah its definitely a slow process but i figure if i'm afk eating dinner or something i could keep it running and just get a bit more xp. trying to get myself ready to fight the queen, my two friends are lagging behind in progress so i wanna get as strong as i can so i can do some carrying
Some were needlessly aggressive
I like to use braziers primarily though. A greydwarf farm I made I noticed the greydwarves kept running towards a particular corner so that's where I placed the braziers
is the aggression in the room with us or?
It was briefly
if you put "passive" before it, your message just now works quite well
either way, it's over and done with, and i've gotten some actual helpful replies so all is well
Only thing I'll say to the situation earlier is if we can remember to actually read the questions being asked and keep in mind that Valheim is a sandbox game. People are always going to play differently to you so there's no need to provide your opinion on why X method of playing is a waste of time or such.
If you can't answer the question I'm sure somebody else can so just don't reply if you have nothing to contribute
"How do I afk farm?"
"Why are you even bothering, what a waste of time!" - as an example. Not a necessary reply
decommands raiseskill blood magic 100 is a completely valid answer idk
Not really
it 100% is
If the person is doing a vanilla/no devcommands run it's not
"designs and ideas"
devcommands are an ingame design and an idea
just the same as spawning in rocks for a design in building
How can you do this while afk
you can set a program and have it do 1/100ths at a time ez
Not that I'm trying to argue here, "most efficient/best for fully afk' is implying they're looking for in game mob farms to raise blood magic skills.
Devcommands wouldn't meet that critieria as it would completely negate the purpose for "afk skill farming"
dunno afk farming entails, zero work while getting increased skills, raising skills has the exact same outcome
It takes time to get the resources for making the farming structures/stone for raising the walls around a spawner.
Dig out a spot for greydwarves to fall and then use blood magic on safely.
Nah no shot, it takes literal 10 wood and 10 stone to set up an afk farm
If you're designing your own farm there's also a lot of trial and error to learn the best spawning mechanics and where to stand to safely use magic
It's fun to design stuff for the sake of designing stuff. Why did people make warden farms and automatic anvil damagers in Minecraft even though they don't get you anything useful? Because it's funny and fun to design.
minecraft farms have far more complexity and intellect behind them then valheim farms, that's the distinguishing factor
valheim farm = place down workbench raise wall summon skeletons
idk, based on the conversations we had, there was a significant amount of intellect behind this one
gonna agree to disagree on that one
Have you made afk farms per chance?
yea i've done it before multiple times actually
but it was for my brother because he wanted it
Idk to what extent you've made yours but there is a lot to them - especially so as Valheim's spawning mechanics work differently
as I've addressed above
no shot we're saying that gathering 100 stone and placing walls is a complex process
Devcommands are very specifically not in-game, they're for helping test and debug the game whilst in development.
Same could be said for designing a megabase. There's beauty in every build if you know where to look
I just jump in my boat, explore more territory and kill EVERYTHING... my magic skills are getting better without "farms"
mega bases 100% have more creativity and critical thinking than an afk farm what?
They are a feature present in the game accessible without mods. They are “in-game”
For your subjective tastes, yes.
You specifically have to enable the console and type in comands to achieve them, they are not 'in-game' in any way imaginable.
Not neccessarily. If you're a new player you won't have access to the dev side of things unless you google how to
nah i think that's pretty objectively true 💀
They are in-game in the way that they are in the game
I could see where he's coming from, sort of how some people don't consider Minecraft's F3 menu and /seed features to be something they want to use. It's technically in game, but too metagame for their liking.
So if I open the game now they're going to be there right? I'm pretty sure they won't be.
Unless you google how to enable console and devcommands the average player won't know they exist in-game
Yes, they will
if you're in the valheim discord you're prolly not an average player tbh
No, they're not.
The average minecraft player doesn’t know how comparators work
Even if they're here not everyone reads everything. Including the rules
Because they’re hiding
that doesn’t mean they don’t exist
Fair point. Redstone is complex in-itself
Regardless of whether devcommands are actually "in game," it might be best to settle the discussion by saying that their inclusion in one's playstyle should solely be up to the players since they are significantly more metagame than any other game mechanic in Valheim.
I don't think anyone is saying they're not.
anyone have an idea of when the deep north would drop time frame-wise? even a guestimate?
maaan i will look like a zombie for the next few months the games building and the music is just to chill and addicting
welcome to valheim
idk how far you are, but wait till the later biomes!
For what it’s worth, I decided to create two main saves: One for all my big ambitious builds in “Hammer Mode” where I spam the devcommands, and then my “Strugglebus” save where I play the game as it was intended to be played by the developers. I like this setup because it allows me to shift gears between playstyles and just do some chill building after a stressful grind.
i did kinda similar. i played through entire game, then after i beat it i turned it into my test world, where i can test out builds and stuff
and now im on another playthrough that im going to make my forever world. Going to play vanilla all the way and just have a nice world to always come back to
are player wards breakable
Thank you for clarifying!
Check #1024264966712340510
Post your info there then
With weapons yes
if you find an island in the ocean big enough for a village and you dot crafting tables, campfires etc. all over it, are you safe from raids?
You are
thanks
FYI - I have actually had flying enemies spawn in an otherwise raid-free base as they can spawn over water, which in my case wasn't covered by the workbenches suppression area. I have not seen "A cold wind blows" so not sure if it happens for that raid but definitely got some spawns out at sea from "You stirred the Cauldron".
hey i constantly see in the loading screen right above a skeleton, enemy made of stone and i always wondered what it was, was it a greydwarf or smth else
i guess it depends where you are stood when the raid starts, if you are at the edge of your base when the red raid circle centres on you then some of it may be outside of land/workbench area
Can deathsquitoes pathfind through windows and such? I usually make an animal barn with windows and a roof for my piggies
i think they need at least a 2m square
cool, thanks, they get 1x1 windows
i think its a Greydwarf Brute, he has the little flower poking out the top of his noggin.
cheaper than iron grate is to use the roundpole fence to block windows, can be a bit of a bugger to get them all lined up nice though as no snap points
seems like it
i wonder if they would add underground mining to make underground bases instead of having to use rocks
it would demand an entire change to the basic world physics, that, along with flowing water, seem much demanded but highly unlikely imo.
no
it not that we can't do it.
but we don't want players to be dwarfs, make underground fortresses where they are 100% safe from monsters and events
Weeeell we aren’t dwarves, now are we? 🤭
certainly not a drawf
but i need to have a massive dwarven forge in the mountains
there are other games for that 🤔
i wonder what bosses are technically skippable
Technically most of them, the only one that will completely block some crafting advancement is Moder. The others can be skipped with various amounts of inconvenience attached.
But why skip them, I always wonder. Bonking them is fun. Well, I still haven't dared go bonk the Queen, but that's because she scares me...
you can
yea cus ngl
i hate the swamp in my 300 hours i hated going there
the only reason i would ever willingly go there is for bonemass
its just the paranoia of dark forest and trolls but 100x worse with those abominations
Well, skipping a boss will eventually slow down your progress anyhow, so I dunno how much it speeds your run up. But it's anyone's game - there's no wrong way of playing Valheim. Wanna skip the smelly swamp, skip it - and find ways around iron shortage.
yeah bonemass is usually my progress killer for every new world lol
you can get silver in other ways, you don't really need the wishbone
Mind you, you'll need some iron or you'll struggle to make better foods.
you can litterally just mine randomly in a mountain and find silver
Yeah old Boneyslob is entirely skippable, the swamp itself you kinda need to suffer at least a little bit to get turnips and just a wee bit of iron.
Bonemass boss power though...
needs removing
It cripples players from learning to manage mobs and instead they just afk in their base for 10 min until its back up
USUALLY, not always
I love fenris and bow there, works surprisingly well especially with frost arrows for seekers!
Bonemass power is nice, I try to not rely on it but it is nice to have as a panic button when I screw up. Which I do too often.
i dont know anyone that plays like that tbh
I always used it to pull a leeeroy jankeins and run into a group of bugs
Streamers usually lol
its a good "ohshit" button for when stuff gets hairy
also a good button for when you sometimes hit the atgeir spin a little too late
Its a good, THERES A SPOOKY NOISE AND THERES NO ENEMIES
why would anyone want to watch that?
When I aggroed a 2-star seeker with a 1-star buddy and some no-star thugs besides, that was the only thing that saved me. And only just. That red bug was like a bossfight.
Why do people watch things? How do I answer that
Was kinda rhetorical for the most part. Apologies
great way to level up unarmed
Wish there was a way to purge greylings
Demolisher kinda "purges" them
Just like get rid of them temporary so i dont deal with them
I entertain myself by yeeting them across the map with the big hammer
or booting them off cliffs
Big hammer go BONK
Also do they plan on doing anything with the edge of the map rather then a random waterfall
No, for what?
To the void. It's a flat world, doesn't need to have something under it
its mythology
It's Norse Mythology, and they believed the world is flat
I know
Ngl i woukd love to be able to see thor in the sky or a god when storms happen cus i always look up in the sky waiting to see like thor
Well....surprise
Well.. you actually can
You can!?
yes
How have i never seen this
Only after Moder
Iv been playing for 300 hours i have several playthroughs
I wanna see like a upclose of his model
Oh thats dissapointing i saw the thor model
Its just a box with wheela and two tposing with i think shrunken deer models
...well yes if you see it outside of the game for some reaon
ingame it's a nice easter egg
You are not supposed to see him so close as the player is not supposed to reach him in the first place
Could be another reason why flying will never be a thing.
Walks around a corner in an infested mine - sees 4 seekers, 2 ticks, and 1 soldier
Me going downstairs and finding 5 seeker soldiers in the basement
Remembers I am a mage and don’t have the Bonemass buff 👀🤣
I think it has been hinted a lot of time that we will not get flying, nor should we. Lots of games that did it later after initially not designing for it had lots of issues, I remember some quirks when WoW did it.
Also we already have flying, we have squito mounts and catapults, we don't need more
and gjall etc
I'd imagine the only mount we'd get is the Valkyrie dragging us up by the leg and dropping us on a random island devoid of our choosing
Yeah he is 😄
The poision resist mead also helped to an extreme extent. I wonder how long it would have taken me to beat him without it
It is still a pretty cool addition to see it in-game tho, you can also spot Odin randomly at night
I actually saw him in a split second once. I was like what just happened?
Yeah, he will ponder at you during the game, but once knowing the identity of the spooky one eye man, it's quite exciting to see him every now then
Aye
I always wave or kneel to pay my respects 🤭
Then throw a fireball at him cause why not? 😂
For me he always went poof before I could react
*Sees a man in robe with a light blue light eye*
*sees it poof like Hugin*
"Yep, I just met God"
Sry IronGates but the Ashland rn is just so bad. I love the game have over 600 hours in it and nothing is a bad as the ashland u just can not movew forward. U kill an enemy and 10 new spawn. Its laggy when ur playing with friends, audio bugs and visuale bugs. The fotresses are made with 0 love unlike the Mistland dungeons, they are so much fun and wild but the fotresses all same and not a unique experience. The lord Retro is also a scam. Make him a huge Fotress with traps and that kind and not just a reused Morgan cave. I really like your game but the Ashlands feel just made without much love. Sry for critism but compared to the rest of the game it just dont feel the same. Still appreciate ur work and the best survial game of all time for me. Fingers crossed just that the Deep North will be way better ❤️
Don't apologize for having criticisms
perhaps it was the edible but I feel crazy. I tried to make bronze bars so I can build myself a cart and I ended up just making tin and copper bars 😭 wtf
And it's still is one of the best updates so far. Imagine if they didn't release it early because "they didn't have enough time"
You figure it out?
no I went to bed lmao
Lol right on
a bed made of tin and copper
Leaves you tingling for days after a lightning storm
Probably just need the right amount of tin and copper bars. Ingredients should be defined within the forge bench.
I had something similar looking for iron for 5 minutes when it was in my inventory and not my chest.😆
I need to make bronze so I can have bronze nails
At least it doesn't take much for nails.
X copper bars X tin bars to get bronze. Then bronze bars to make nails. It's all in the forge bench
I thought I had to use the smelter.I cry
Well yea. Turn ore into ingots with the smelter then combine at the forge bench. I can see how it would be assumed to combine the two in a smelter. But it won't let us insert ingots
Hello, fellow vikings!
and it turns out its Odin from God of War ragnarok
👋
is there a real reason why the battleaxes dont get their full movesets unless the user is in combat`?
What do you mean by that?
Too slow for your liking? Or something else?
when im not in combat the axes only do the slow horizontal swing, reset animation, slow swing again from the same direction. Makes cutting down trees or using it for other stuff than combat kinda annoying. Normally the axe does the slow swing, followup swing from the other direction and a top-bottom swing.
look silly
Axes tend to reset their moveset when cutting trees.
but the two-hand battleaxes have an entire other moveset that it could utilize
You could use faster secondary attack on single trees and primary attack for multiple trees since primary attacks have no multi target penalty so you deal same damage to multiple trees.
One of my fav combos is if your wood cutting skill is high enough and you initially chop the tree, you can do the axe secondary attack and make it so the tree splits apart in two as it's falling down, which often results in the 2 tree logs hitting each other in air and making the chopping process even easier
why does valheim have so many issues with connecting?
Usually it's not game's fault, do you use wireless or wired connection? Wired is recommended for better connection.
That's only when you're cutting trees. And it's always been like that. One-handed axes are the exact same
lost potential, would have been cooler if it used the entire anim
If one-handed axes don't, why would the two-handed version do?
They're not even focused on being used to cut trees, they're primarily for combat
Not wired, we have spent 2 hours trying, like 20 minutes of gametime together.
You should try wired. I'm speaking of my own experience and usual recommendations.
At least host should use for more stable connection.
HOW THE HECK DO YOU FIGHT A ||GHOST|| THEY DON'T TAKE DAMAGE FROM MY CLUB AND THEY DO A LOT OF IT
Stop shouting (this is the important part), hold your shield up, wait for their hit, then attack a few times. They resist all physical damage so a torch will work better, but I haven't had any problems with other weapons
Is there a visual indicator for when they attack? I wasn't really paying attention but it looked like a beamw as just shooting out of them
You can use their sound consistently, their animations can be hard to see
Their attack cue is audio, not visual. It's consistent and i highly recommend using a shield to parry first
I died 😔 Going to get my stuff back now
Two-star trolls are the real deal, met my first one in a good while. He was in a cave, so I didn't realise at first since I couldn't see the colour. Nearly cost me a corpse run, the surprise when the bugger did NOT die from my backstab, just turned around and took away a good portion of my health. "Ooh dang..."
Don't feel bad, many first encounters with ghosts end that way. Mine did - then I tried using a torch and it worked wonders!
Dunno if I'm weird, but fulings running around MY forest killing MY animals and greys - they offend me. I killed your good, green vermin, eff off!
what dagger are you using to oneshot trolls
My trusty Mistwalker! 😉
(Knives are for skinning pigs and fowl, not fighting)
Knives are definitely for fighting, Valheim doesn't have skinning pigs and fowl
I use my knife to put kill notches in my spear
Doesn't the butcher knife raise your knife skill?
It probably does but you'd need a very big farm or very low knife skill to notice
And it's also used for literally killing and skinning pigs?
It does, it's the only knife I ever crafted
Heh. It's usually the first knife I craft and use, so it often gets me a level on first use 😛
My knife skill is 31 only from butchering boar and chickens
knives are for backstabbing ofc
I would use knives more but I don't like the forced movement on the secondary attack
I just get the hang of the distance, it's a little more than a sneak roll
If I want to move forwards I can already do that with a jump attack. Why should the attack animation force it? I know I can cancel the movement by jumping and not holding any inputs, but then I can't change my velocity if I need to.
Ugh, I loathe when doing an attack will actually move you forward. So many games do that, it's annoying
A sword is essentially a really long knife, so I'm cool with that 🙂
Swords don't have 6x backstab though, only knives and flesh rippers do
True, but swords are cooler 😉
i hate the sound the swords make so I never make any, ever
I love how Valheim allows us to make that kind of choice and not be completely screwed. That there is not a THE best weapon that you have to use to progress. Some weapons are better in certain situations, none are perfect all the time - but even when at their worst they are passable.
is it possible to change the time between each autosave? cuz mine is at 30 minutes
Not that I know, but if you want to save more often you can do it manually.
Dungeon loot doesn't refresh right? So I'll have to fight another one for more ||Surtling Cores?||
Some weapons lack the biome specific upgrade to be considered for me. I can rock spears all the way to Ashland's. Not all weapons offer that progression
Honestly axes are great. Progression through and through
Do duel axes benefit from leveling axe skill? I've yet to build them
Yep
Oh sweet
no silver axe 😉
i think all weapons lack at least one progression step
Going through the game with axes is kinda nice too cause less space being taken up in your inventory and the special attack has a nice downswing for hitting things slopes. That was the main thing I hated about spears
Spears lack plains. But Fang is suffice until Carapace
Axe secondary only has 1.5x damage though
Oh true I forgot. Silver wouldn't make sense but I think an obsidian axe would be cool.
Got to use secondary with spear on slope. Little learning curve with aiming though
I sucked at aiming the spears. I didn't use a bow this playthroigh either so drakes were kinda a problem. Finally got a crossbow now so that's my ranged weapon this time
The wind is always blowing the opposite direction of where I'm sailing

True, I wonder if that's by design to force us out of habits? Being a swords nerd I don't have that problem, thankfully.
It is magic, simple as that.
Oooh I have passed 50 in Polearms skill, don't think I've ever been that high before
I die so much my skills rarely get to 50
I'm at 100 with swords and running, they get bumped down regularly but sheesh I run and chop a lot
I expect it to be down at like 80 by the time I've beaten the queen, and reset to zero after a week in Ashlands...
This is the way?
Indeed
I'm pretty ready to go after the queen but I don't want ashland raids or wandering seekers in my meadows
what are your thoughts on the new game Runescape: Wilds? i mean Dragonwilds
already seeing people compare it to the goat valheim
People are weird.
i wonder if they plan on doing anything with the sea or leave it as it is
An "ocean update" has been mentioned multiple times over the course of development. Just isn't priority atm.
oh nice iv been wondering if it was mentioned cus honestly the only thing you would go out to the sea other then traveling is for chitin
yo yo yo, anyone wanna start new world with me?
Id love more uses for barnacles... or just other kinda of enemies that could appear
Sea Dragon Leviathans 😏
i want krakens
Aaron Carter has a song about that, no?
also would be cool to be able to do like a offering to the gods and depending on the offering you could get like a buff
Now you're kidding, right?
yea cause we totally don't offer up specific trophies to get a buff
you can!?
That's literally the point of the entire game, lol.
oh wait im stupid
pfff hahaha i completely forgot that the boss heads are the offerings
"Hail Allfather, take this...er...green blob, and grant me magic armour!"
"hail Thor here's a piece of wood give me a axe"
"Here is piece of coal, take it or leave it." 😄
Oooof running into a triple tar pit in the fog and aggroing the entire bloody horde of growths
SantaThor must think I'm a bad viking cause all he gives me is coal
i can imagin the gods get bored sometimes and just throw bullshit at us for shits and giggles
darude growthstorm it is
Somehow survived, managed to kite them near a group of lox
i made a mistake
i should not have entered that howling cavern
why is there so many 1 start wolves dear god please save me
It's a little disappointing how little you can upgrade the ashlands weapons/armor
All the armor goes to level 3, which is the maximum available for many sets within the biome you obtain them. And level 2 was maximum for mistlands equipment when mistlands released.
what good servers are there i can get for valheim?
||Conquered my first Ashlands fort, still somehow didnt die yet in ashlands, im very happy||
There are only 1 star enemies there 😉
i took one wrong turn down some stairs and was immediately swarmed by like 30 of them
it was terrifying
Almost like there's a biome to go.
I guess I never play current content, so if that's the usual then that's cool
on xcloud i killed the elk and elder was mainly grinding for iron back then and base building.
now on geforce now i just try to reproduce my first main base longhouse with some upgrades:) moved the forge inside today instead of having it outside like last time.
rly rly love those games were you just grind stuff and build.
true! before i even killed the first boss i made a big longhouse that i will probably use for most of my playthrough! it was a pain to cut down all the trees i needed for it with just a flint axe, but it was worth it in the end!
i think my woodcutting was at like 48 by the time i had enough wood
my first longhouse build as well, it was fun to try something different!
honestly
im glad trolls cant climb out of holes or fly cus then you can just trap them
i mean if you like cheating
fish in a barrel
looking for server to play on - down to fresh start
where are all the damn jotun puffs ;_; i can't find ANY and i have none to start a farm
jotuun*
nope, not in valheim
also i believe you mean jotunn, but the items im looking for are called jotun puffs, i just found a few and i'm looking at my inventory
i use it to be able to mine copper without being attacked
Also, it's not cheating as much as ingenuity
Unless, of course, you're in a server with rules that promote a certain play style
Cheezing is not cheating
🧀 🤙
I wouldn't mind if devcommands went away come 1.0
hm, its extremely helpful for running multiplayer server
i only think its good for single player on your own world to test stuff out in the game
like test what is possible and stuff, so many builders use it and make the craziest stuff ever and im like " wow i didnt even know you could do that"
It's also good for 2 star lox
And removing the hildir raids
No amount of fancy clothing is worth those boss goblin bastards showing up
So instead of being removed it could just become an admin command
Started a no armor no potion permadeath playthru
🤙
jewelcrafting or epicloot? which is better in your guys' opinions?
This would be a good compromise. Still abusable. No way around it without mods for server moderation.
Better than removing devcommands
I don't use mods yet. #mods-discussion ftw
I think many would agree with you Blob
Hence the compromise
Is hildr worth the travel if I'm already at plains
Food? 🤔
food is allowed this time 😂
He’ll probably starve if he does another run without food
No potion and no food means you have absolutely zero way to regen hp 😅
not quite ready for that one yet
Should staff of prot be allowed in a no armor run?
I'm leaning towards no
I mean it's not armor 🤷♂️
its technically not armor but it kinda functions like it idk
it's more of a shield, so unless you're doing no shields either than I think it's fair game
Hmm
Points are valid tbh, but i think staff of prot would ruin the spirit of the run so probably just gonna ban it
Keep it in a locked base at spawn for when you get frustrated enough 😂😂
depends on how hard you want challenge to be, and also how you define the rules you set
yea i'm not lookin for no walk in da park
prot is insanely powerful, thats how even I manage to survive in Ashlands
yup probably the strongest thing in the game ngl
def in the top 10 or top 5, hammer is also very powerful 🙂
all depends on definitions
Hildr doesn’t provide anything too useful
Think it's just cosmetics, I've never gone out of my way for it
Unless you want to have fun killing cool minibosses, not sure what else you can use her for
The problem is, even if they remove it; any player can abuse the game if they want. The game is only designed for solo or a small group of friends to play together.
Anyone can mod thier client regardless of server; so there is little point.
honestly this is a good mid ground solution lol
Anyone wanna play sometime
you'll probably find a lot of people in #1024264966712340510
Anyone on PC. But yes all true.
Do we know if weapon/upgrade balance will be something adjusted in 1.0?
Yes they have mentioned 1.0 will have a balance pass involved.
Not sure what specifically you mean about upgrades needing balance though?
so do you know how the cooking stations only get 1 upgrade per stage? I think thats how the weapons should work. Also I dont how certain stages just miss out on weapons. Not only that but there is no point in upgrading any mistlands weapons outside of the mistwalker and the spinesnap
because you can upgrade them but you cant max them without going into the ashlands, where they become redundant
I highly doubt they are going to add every weapon to every biome, for one.
Even if they dont, atleast make weapons like the himmanafl worth using into the ashlands. Like id LOVE to see the t4 take iolite and then it can have the effect
I think this was fixed when they actually added Ashlands. Because you can build the next upgrade piece (which didn't exist before the patch) without going there.
you cannot max any mistlands level gear without black forge lvl 4, which can only be achieved with the metal cutter
So... redesign the entire biome?
Because the sole reason Himmin loses effectiveness is the Pierce Resist that all Charred have.
Which effects all pierce weapons, not just Himmin.
Meaning they would have to completely change the Ashlands just so Himmin is "better". Which isn't going to happen.
no, you dont need to redesign. just make the upgrades better
this goes for every single weapon in the game with few exceptions. I love how certain weapons gain spirit damage on upgrades and id love to see more of that
Describe with math how making it "better enough to overcome pierce resistance" does not make it "brokenly overpowered as fuck vs. all non-resistant enemies", please.
- Mistlands is the only tier where this is relevant because as soon as you obtain all other metals you can max the weapon without the next biome
- Upgrades dont do anything outside of durability the rare spirit damage
- Because iolite is insane and the other two gems are practically worthless outside of a few jade weapons. Iolite is objectively overpowered
And two of the ashlands weapons deal pierce dmg, which also objectively sucks in that biome
I think it's a valid criticism that the ashlands gems could use some love
Will there be a balance pass? Yes.
Will you get what you specifically want? No 😂 Not even close.
How to get what you want: Mod.
Green one yes, other 2 are fine.
Nah blood is trash man
tod howard take
This is the minecraft argument
?
mods dont even do this, they just add vanilla unfriendly experiences that dont actually do anything
Someone doesn't know how to run HP builds. 😏
"Hur dur I run 3 hp food to purposefully put myself at low hp and have very low stamina which cripples myself even more to only do marginally better dmg than lightning dmg builds"
I don't even know what this means.
is it just me or do copper deposits and other resource nodes only have a partial chance to drop their main resource?
I just mined like 20 sections and unless they fell into a wormhole I only picked up 4
- Ouch? I expect better from you.
- No, not how to run it either.
I'm sorry but the strat just doesn't work
It's just not good in comparison to literally anything else
The strat you described? Yes. That's why I said "not how to run it."
That's literally the best way to run it
🙄
also spears need soo much love
If you're thinking hur dur snipe with blood from rage lightning does that just fine and does it even better tbh
My favorite weapon in the game needs love?
favorite =/= objectiveness
High damage with the fastest attack speed in the game?
the wolf fang is a lovely weapon and i make it every time, that doesnt mean that spears are actually good
it has no range, atrocious heavy attack, gets stunted by its animation, also gets stunted by resistances
imagine the poor little viking who made the bronze spear and the flint spear on his first playthrough just to make the iron spear in the mountains and miss every single attack because of terrain
high damage with no combo mechanic so actualy no they arent higher dps than say swords, low range, no aoe ability. The only upsides of the weapon class is that the skill is the easiest to level and are the cheapest option to make per stage
😄
and also peirce damage being hated by the devs
yeet=fun
valid argument
How
pierce dmg is goated idk its probably the strongest weapon type dmg
simply cause op weapons do pierce lol
Golems, the entirety of the ashlands, seekers, the queen, bonemass, blobs, abominations
blunt is the same way but its still good because of knockback and generally unique weapons
Lightning Spear 💛
Slash damage gets more actual resistance pips on the creature list
yeah but crowd control
You don't understand.
My perception of the injustice in the game overrides your facts.
😏
How dare you contradict me with the truth.
😏
its the objective truth stab weapons dont do aoe with absurdly high knockback and stagger levels. thats not a perception issue
The weapon with the best AoE in the game is a stab weapon 😄
I put more DPS down with a spear than a sword ever could
demolisher does blunt dmg actually
RoF
Depends if sword can hit multiple things or not
Atgeirs have AoE with absurdly high stagger levels 😄
Depends if sword doesn't have multi target penalty
Is legit the king of weapons until you reach Ashlands where it finally falls off.
yes, but theres only 5 of them in the game compared to the spear at every level except silver
Until they hopefully fix that 🤞
thats what leveling the skill is for
every level except silver
Fang Spear
- Ancient bark x10
- Wolf fang x4
- Leather scraps x2
- Silver x2
oh wait im crazy, i retract my statement
fang spear is so cheap yea it's actually crazy
acting like i didnt just use the fang spear in my current playthrough
except for black metal is what i meant to say
Ancient Bark spear is best spear. I don't typically upgrade again until Mist
skip fang spear? with how cheap it is?
Regarding atgeir yea?
Ye.
Yea Scales mostly on looks if I'm honest
word
Plus the upgrade doesn't have that big of an impact. As the swamp spear holds up well enough. Despite being inefficient
Fang Spear being the only silver weapon with no spirit damage 😭
Oh that would sway my perspective
my thought process is silver is just so easy to get and fang spear is already super cheap why not just get it but idk
If Fang Spear did spirit damage, Silver Sword would have competition for "BiS vs. Yag"
Highest attack speed meaning fastest stacking of the spirit DoT.
Your not wrong on the decision for fang spear in general though
Can secondary on spear potentially edge out sword as well
But all of the pierce from the spear is getting a very resistant penalty idkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Fair point
because losing your primary weapon is better than the strongest heavy attack in the game
Imagine losing your spear...
Throw at melee range and auto pickup for fast follow up attacks
I did say "competition" and not "it would immediately beat with no debate whatsoever" 😄
yea i'm just weighing pros and cons
Productive
Don't encumber yourself 😏

1 mole of Silver Swords vs. 1 mole of Fang Spears
🧨
what's the molecular weight of each
Sword has to be heavier
🤷♂️
I had someone try to explain what an avocado number was to me once and it still doesn't make sense.
Heavier?
So you're saying a pound of swords is heavier than a pound of feathers? 😏
"avocado" number is 1 mol is this amount of atoms that's all it is
Ok but what if I have only an apple of atoms?
Like why does the avocado specifically matter?
No. But silver sword is all metal. Fang spear is stick and fang. Don't even know where the silver goes
(Yes I am aware of who discovered the number and his actual name, I just don't get why it was a "significant discovery")
The silver goes into the biome balance so you can't make it earlier in the game!
It allows people to do stoichiometry and conversions in chemical reactions which tells you how much heat you can give off, what your yield can theoretically be etc
so, about those moles they need to add to the game...
There was a lot of big words in there missy, we're not but humble pirates...
We are the moles
"Scales | Nerd" -Sev one time
*Binged
morbed
Or *Bung, whichever verb you prefer 😄
There are many things I have bung from Scales saying random nerd words.
🦆
Deep North Ducks? 👀
Ducks on the go or something
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
I did search it. Only led to more questions lol. This is the way
That's just you re-arranging ASMR 😏
Magnetic resonance mmmm
MRI's go brrrrrr.
Oof immediately thought of metal in mri
That would be a "Metal Rotating Incident" 😏
What’s the final boss gonna be named?
we dunno
Grimcore.
why not rocky
rocky would be the hardest boss, dunno if i could bring myself to slay him.
Hey I still think when you put the last trophy up, Thor drops down and kills you out of jealousy because his dad has been giving you so much attention.
Rocky the bone crusher
Larry.
BossyMcBossface
Ouchy Slayer of Noobs
Would get nerfed in a week for being "too hard."
Imagine the final boss is a troll with a sword shield and armor 💀
Lmao
With the face of rocky
time to build the biggest bridge ever over the spawn.
