Idk how or what people play, the only "bug" I've ever seen is stam mead not showing up on the tray sometimes lol
Decorationist's worst nightmare.
Ikr
Is this only applicable to local saves, and not dedicated servers?
You missed the point but sure...
I literally have zero issues growing my own vineberries but host my own server
Rianu joined the dark side
Not sure about dedicated servers since I've never played in them. But in local servers yes, they vanish after logging out.
In fact i have so many vineberries idk what to do with them all, i got stacks and stacks of em
Well, food for tamed asksvins!
Sometimes I'll log in and 30s later theyve ALL grown and ive got like 100 in 1 run, and more spawn before i can even finish collecting them
Same, just run around when i needem, dozens
Never seen this or any bugs for that matter
If you use the tray to put down a Lingering stam mead it doesn't show up sometimes
So weird
Only thing that really bothers me is if the game crashes or d/c's while sailing. You'll end up completely separated from the boat... but this isnt a bug I would say.. since world / character positions became unsync'd since their data is separate I believe
Don't feel that I did.
You'd rather they slow down and address minutiae that 99% of players never encounter or notice.
I think they are on the right track
Don't make perfect the enemy of the good.
Except it’s not free content
We bought deep north already when we bought the game
The content we get is the content we paid for
No, we bought the game as-is. Steam is very explicit on that with Early Access game purchases.
It's what was promised and Iron Gate is delivering on it, but there would be no recourse for anyone if they just walked away now, other than ill will and loss of future sales.
I mean sure but you’re paying for the content early
So you’ve already paid for whatever mistlands/ashlands/deep north will be
You bought a game at one point, everything you get after that point is a bonus
If they turn out to be nothing you still paid for it to be nothing
Technically you bought a license to play the game
I play and pay wow monthly as an example, and there are literally game breaking bugs where some zones don't even load for years, idgaf
Valheim is cheap as is, everything you get is more than worth it
I agree, the content produced still isn’t free which is what I was pointing out
At the end of the day, we all just want to see bugs fixed and fun content to play
We’re all on the same team
I have what I have, and am very happy with it. If from this point on I get more, that extra is pretty darn free in my book.
It would be very easy for them to charge for it. How many games have paid DLC? They could have called the plains 1.0 and charged for the rest piecemeal. If EA was in charge, what would DN cost you? Now look back at what we expect to actually happen.
That's what I mean by free, and its pretty hard to argue with.
Nothing wrong with being happy with the content you have, but there’s also nothing wrong with pointing out bugs and the like. Both can be true
Thinking about starting a new playthroughs, give knives a shot 🤔
I really enjoy knives in a 2+ playthrough. It gives you more opportunities to get the backstabs and do fun sneak assaults
Knives are great. 👍 Up and close inside personal space.
My goal is to try and put a lot of emphasis on the sneak skill, looks like it could be fun!
Sneaking behind troll starting with the jump attack using copper/abyssal knife is fantastic.
Had my taste of that using flesh rippers, looking forward to more of it
Magic is so much fun =+)
I’m using magic on my current playthrough, I agree it’s pretty fun! Haven’t reached Ashlands yet, but I’m excited for all the Eitr weapons.
Cool! I am just now getting into it
I have always played the sword/mace and shield warrior with a 2 hander as a back up but..... seeing all the chat about magic earlier sparked my interest
Same, I had to see for myself what all the hype about magic was, and it’s definitely pretty neat! In my hands, it’s pretty balanced I think, but I’m also constantly forgetting to do things like keeping my protection shield up, not letting my Eitr regen, and getting too close to enemies. But I’m learning lol
I can see how magic is extremely good in the hands of a more talented player than myself.
Hehe Indeed! I'm very fresh to it I bet your far better than me =+) My friend does all the magic damage for us usualy but hey I can try right lol
Have a great day peoples =+)
Personally I found magic to be really enjoyable in 2 player (and probably in more). Part of it was due to friend running ahead of me and causing lag with his bad connection, so parrying and dodging was troublesome.
But also just because if he stands up front, I can support/bombard from behind. (Also since he ran ahead, using magic let me smash stuff from far behind while trying to catch up to him....)
anyone wanna play valheim with me?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might want to.
what can you offer?
What should I do when entering the Mistland by boat?
I have the Wisp Light on me, but it seems like it's not doing much
so you can actually download a mod revealing much more of that mist
but if not then you need to keep with what you have
that wisp light is the best what vanila game offers
You have to work with that. Once you got your hands on the new wood you can remove the fog bit by bit with a new torch.
Yeah so, I have portal materials, can I just go there and put it down.. and should I be ready for enemies? #screenshots message
Also it's hella foggy
just get bonemass power if you scared
That's not Mistlands fog. 😄
it is, look at the minimap
It's nearby
Says Plains...
It's always a good idea putting down a portal while progressing or even traveling longer distances.
There's some dark grey part, where's the Mistlands
The purple cloud on your map, there you have to go
yeah it is the mistland, it's safe so I placed down a portal
Then tread carefully and enjoy the next biome. 🙂
yeah, thanks
It's pretty close to a Plains, maybe that would be a better place for a checkpoint
Misty*
I am completely sure that not getting any vineberries despite waiting for probably hours IS something that NOT "99% of players will not notice"...
What are all these bugs and glitches? I can honestly not recall a single game breaking bug that I've come across in all my time playing this game, which is dangerously close to 2,000 hours. The most jarring thing I can think of is the stark biome boundaries in the ocean in places, and that's a purely visual thing.
I started playing about a week ago and i have no idea what i'm doing most of the time - so I definetly would not notice/understand vineberries not spawing - my map is just full of skulls/deaths and i've probably had more deaths than days at this point 🥲
I like that instead of assuming you're doing something wrong, you instead immediately leap to game must be broken and bad
Most triple-A releases with like 60 gameplay hours in them at best tend to release WAY more buggy - at 1.0 release - and are often not fixed before most of the player base has moved on to the next hawt thing. Valheim is a marvel of polish considering it is still in EA.
Stagger glitch is when you stagger certain mobs during their attack animation but their attacks still connect, dealing damage.
Self grown vineberry vines produce berries oddly and if you don't pick them and logout they vanish.
At least some of those bugs, not gamebreaking IMO but still need to address.
Sounds like minor things. Don't think I've ever noticed the stagger thing, sounds like a latency thing more than an actual bug to be fair.
Still things that needs fixing of course, but not the kind of things I'd go ranting about
It's not latency issue, I have also encountered said bug.
Let's say if you play harder difficulty it can be very annoying.
Come to think of it I think I have gotten that from lox a few times when trying to stagger them with the atgeir. Always put it down as me just mistiming the attack...
Same can happen with seekers too.
I wouldn't know, seekers I usually just bonk without much strategy. Doesn't happen with parry at least.
I can recall two:
Tombstones disappearing if game crashes/unexpectedly closes right after dying
Flying glitch from lavaiathans
Staggering with weapons like atgeir secondary or battleaxe is when that happens, not during parry.
you instead immediately leap to game must be broken and bad
I would sure love the exact message where I said "this game sucks and it's broken". I'll wait
Suspected as much, since I pretty much only use the atgeir as my I-WIN-stick vs lox if I have to fight them out in the open, I've never noticed it anywhere else.
#memes-and-clips message I’m just being a goober, but I had to post this just for you 😂 with love of course
lol
Never experienced either. What is the "flying glitch from leviathans" about, sounds funky?
Character used to (or still does) get stuck in a falling animation while on lavaiathans
Ah, no haven't seen that one. Granted, I only ever hop on one or two leviathans each playthrough, only need enough to make the harpoon.
I thought that was fixed.
This reads that way
As for tombstones disappearing if the game closes just after dying (why would that happen, Alt+F4 to try and un-die?) can't that just be that the game didn't have time to save the data before it closed? Dunno how that could be fixed really, if a program hard crashes it won't finish whatever it was doing.
But yeah, if I did the corpse run after dying and my grave just wasn't there, I'd be upset. Definitely!
Skill issue 😝
Joking
OH, well if you are sure. I suppose there is no need to interrogate the matter further. But just for funsies.
What percentage of players do you think beat Bonemass?
What portion of those go on to beat Ygluth?
what sub-section of those ever see a vineberry.
Let alone plant them in base, let alone experience your bug?
But you are sure, so this is all not worth considering. I'll assume you know more than you seem to.
No one is saying bugs shouldn't be addressed. They seem to do a pretty good job at that actually. But to stop all other development until every discernible detail is to your exacting demands, would not be the something most players would like to see.
I think you will find your view very much in the minority.
Grapes of Wrath
Oh goodness, a chest in a crypt had 18 iron in it. Jackpot!
I just find it incredibly pretentious to whine that an unfinished early access game has bugs in it, and when pressed on a specific bug brought up that may or may not even be a bug you pivot to whataboutism. Vineberries, according to the wiki, take over three hours to grow. And that's on top of the vines needing a lot of criteria and extra time to spread in addition. So you complaining that it's taking "hours" isn't a bug at all
Vines are bugged though. If you log out before they're grown they'll reset.
They will get fixed though
And it Is a known bug thats gonna be worked on when there Is time, just look at the support page.
Just takes some time to do 🔥
I wasn't suggesting otherwise, just refuting the idea that there aren't any bugs.
Oh i know, i was just adding up to that 🙂
One VERY minor thing that has annoyed me is those occasional passages in sunken crypts where there are stairs UP leading to a dead end. Since their elevation would make them at a higher level than the entrance, there should be something at the surface indicating them - but yeah. My head canon says the entrance is actually a long staircase down, so that small flight of stairs upwards does nothing...
My personal favourite was a sunken crypt where I took left, left, left. And realised I stood where the outside of the enterance should have been. Or basically inside the stairs down the entrance.
Also fun to pickaxe the earth away from under a burial chamber, and see the enterance empty floating in the air.
Yeah, they should simply make the ground around entrances unbreakable to avoid that
Can't help it, I just enjoy all the janky terraforming stuff.
Aside from that, the burial chambers in Valheim are the best crude, ancient dungeons I've seen in any game. They truly feel ancient, the visual design and the ambience is perfect.
A bit sad that once you're into the swamps there is little reason to ever revisit them
Same kind of goes for most things in the game. Very seldom good reasons to go back for stuff.
Iron in particular, is useful throughout play. Always reasons to get more
Not sure I agree, a lot of things end up being useful later on, in some way or another, but anything you find in the burial chambers is pretty much irrelevant once you've moved on from the forest.
best thing I can think of, is during mistlands you might go back to farm skeleton trophies for the summon staff
Maybe there could be some copper scrap or something there, wouldn't be game breaking for players on Black Forest as current content, but would provide an alternative to mining, if you prefer looting.
Would make it easier to progression skip though, for what it’s worth
given the designer's stated love of the black forest. I doubt we would see any big changes to it.
Alas, people do that already by troll or whatever
Also copper without Tin is still limiting. So eh. Wouldn't make that big of a difference.
Heh, or maybe - at random - an actual "ancient sword" item that is useless as a weapon - but teaches you the recipe for a prettier bronze sword than the regular one.
To be fair… Black Forest is pretty perfect 😁
Mechanically, might be my favourite biome.
Black Forest is what sold Valheim to me to be fair. Walking in there, seeing the eyes of greydorfs glowing in the gloom, and then hearing the bellyrumbling of something BIG and blue, gods I wish I could relive that
Still the biome I enjoy the most just walking around in.
First time I made actual combat contact with a troll I was literally paralyzed with fear and could only watch as he bonked me senseless
1st time seeing a troll is unforgettable, not to mention they blend in Soo well
My first experience with a troll was playing with a buddy in voice chat, and he was talking while chopping trees. Suddenly he yelps and goes quiet, I ask him what happened. "I got killed by something blue."
How dafuq ar you supposed to find 2 star asksksvin I js spent 10hours on ashlands trying to find one to tame.
They literally dont exist. Its a myth
It's luck, and yours is bad lol
You'll find one once you stop looking, that's how it goes
How do I get luckier?
Gamble more I guess
Aight
It's like with starred wolves: 2 star asksvin can appear only during night and despawn at dawn if taming process haven't started.
Anything 2-star is always rare as fudge. I think I've seen a two-star troll twice in 2k hours.
i want a 2star askie so bad
They’re so powerful 😭
Yes but I spent like 40 nights in ashlands looking for it apparently they are jusy extremely rare
All two-stars are extremely rare.
more importantly, they're pink
You surely go near lava areas where Asksvin usually spawn?
But I've seen 2 star wolves many times
Yes
Bad rng really.. 🎰
That's just RNG - I've been looking for a two-star wolf to tame for weeks now, no luck. One star I usually se once a few hours or so, but two - nope, gotta get lucky
Basically 1% chance for mob to spawn with 2 stars (10% per star).
Ummm, I just got a ghosts and wraiths raid, never had that ever before - is it new or just rare?
Somewhat new
Added in Bog Witch update.
I call it free chain delivery event.
Aaah, makes sense, I only just came back after that
Wasn't sure which update, but it had to be quite recently
Also I found brenna running around near my base terrorizing the local greydorfs, I suppose she raided while I was AFK and got bored 😂
I gave up on 2star askvin for now.. after many ashlands nights turning up empty handed
Something I learned while playing WoW is that it is nearly pointless - unless you have inhuman focus and resilience - to actively pursue anything with that low "droprate". Just play the game and be ready to drop what you're doing to grab that thing that time you DO find it...
^ can't relate I farm until I get it
Once in my recent runs I encountered 2 star asksvin randomly without trying to look out for one, then it required hasty actions before dawn to start the taming process.
Yeah, for example just go sailing to certain destination and you will encounter multiple serpents during the trip. Try hunt serpents and you will find none.
i jumped to valheim for a while after update, quite interesting twist in fps
wanting to jump into valheim but i dont want to do the early access replay loop, does anyone know if valheim is closed to a 1.0 release?
Nowhere close.
ETA unknown. It's quite fun in its current state, though.
There is no currently date for 1.0 release, but the game is very much worth the price currently.
Especially when it's on sale.
there is no such thing, you can do different style, difficulty etc, always new things to discover
Jump in now, you can continue your world even after 1.0 is released or start a new world then too.
i legit spent 35 nights looking for one, i counted every night
sometimes you just get unlucky
this was same playthrough it took me 25 nights to find a 2 star wolf
so 55 nights of gameplay was spent chilling looking for breeding slaves
15ish nights took me to find first 2 star asksvin in first Ashlands run. Next 2 runs were much more luckier.
wtb 2star askie eggy
Wow that is crazy luck
I think i spent over 40+ and nothing still
Perhaps my strat was bad. I dug a few holes near large lava fields near a fortress I had, and had roughly 4-7 askvins that would spawn at a time
Id do the loop killing all askvins in attempt to force a new spawn that was 2 star.
All at night
that's a wow mindset
Yeah im used to that kinda grind from WoW 🤣
I got kind of frustrated after numerous valkyries kept invading the area ruining my farm loop on some nights
Well, the game has many, many hours worth of playing in it as is. I'm 2k hours in myself already and not getting bored yet. There is one major update left that will bring it to 1.0. They have dropped some very vague teasers so far, but best guess as to release date would be by the end of this year. Might be sooner, but I seriously doubt that, while I also doubt it would be delayed any further. But, as others have said already, there is really no need to wait for that final biome - you can play and replay what is in already countless times. It's just that kinda game where the journey is the whole experience, not "beating" it.
next major update is 1.0 release
I will reword that as I'm sure it's not perfectly clear:
next 👉‼️MAJOR‼️ 👈 update is 1.0 release
There's just something about sailing into your main base harbour with a longship fullly laden with iron. It's stupidly satisfying!
Spent a couple of nights ransacking the crypts of a major swamp a long ways from base, then made a loop to pick up gathered stashes of black metal before that last stop with all the iron. Felt like working freighters when I actually worked at sea, heh.
anybody play vanilla?
It'll be even more satisfying the moment you drop that last iron bar in the storage chest and start to consider what to use it for.
Only to discover you got not even a quarter of what's eventually needed.
In this channel?
Most likely the most of us. Why?
@pliant hatchbecause I got to the plain and I was about to cut yagluth, my game crashed and my saves are gone, I need the yagluth preparation save file
There should be back up saves as well.
I looked over there and they're empty.
Are you using cloud saves or local ones?
cloud
I know where they are, but they're empty, do you have the registration file for yagluth?@pliant hatch
no cheating if possible
Not on my current games.
Just did swamp on both games. One on normal, one on hard.
Also, no need to keep tagging me if we're the only one talking here.
i am here,.. just not talking 😉
you have to hit them in the butt
@glad sundialbro u have mid-game save?
Went into the Mistland, greeted by Seeker and a soldier, dead
hehe they pivot in place well... I like fighting them most of all but I still hate these damn bugs
.db?
no
Ummm, well, if you want to skip the early game there are tools for that
Would probably be a lot easier to just spawn what you want instead of getting a whole save file 😅
I built my base over a demolished fuling camp and now I get the cool music cue everytime I enter my base 😅
Classic! Fuling village music is awesome! I built my barley/flax farm at the site of a fuling village I razed into oblivion. No remorse, those green buggers had it coming!
I was considering building a plains base within a village and keeping the structures for myself just last night.
Sure you can, the materials you'd have to use just wouldn't match 😅
I don't think you can repair fuling structures no
yeah, the bone stuff is really cool though
just need a few fuling heads on spikes, as warning to the others
Does anyone here use an axe as a weapon?
It doesn't have any advantage over a sword right?
only when im chopping wood 😄
1h Swords are generally greater than 1h axes becaues 1h swords don't have multi target penalty and 1h axes do (except for the axe special)
However axes get a super cool and good weapon in the ashlands, so it might be worth investing if you want to
Axes also save on an inventory slot, decision is up to you
Spirit and cold are available in sword.
What do you mean multi target penalty?
if they hit more than 1 target, the dmg gets split
Oh
Yea so if you can hit 2 things with a 1h sword it's much more valuable
u can see this happen when you hit a tree, if you hit 2 trees at once the dmg is split between the 2
also not sure if the axe has block combos, but the sword does
have not tried with an axe
don't think axes have block enabled combos
wouldn't expect a player who's asking if they should use swords/axes to know about block enabled combos/even use them tho 😅
yea for sure block combos is very rare for a player to do
i mean i would use them more, but most of the time you dont really have an opening
or i havent found any reliable openings yet
I use em mostly in dungeons and bosses
yea bosses would make sense
General open world i find it's just faster and simpler to just do the normal stuff
Yep I'm a noob lol
Axe do slash and chop where swords only do slash. Something else to consider
Wtf is block enabled combos lol. I mean it sounds pretty self explanatory but maybe I'm missing something
not a noob, I can count on my hands the amount of people that do block enabled hands
Basically doing multiple inputs to get some extra damage
kinda hard to explain, easier to watch
there are a few vids on it if you are interested
but its super niche, not reliable in most scenarios
parry into spam hit is still the best way to go about fighting
Acts as an animation cancel right?
kinda, more of a timing thing
ye
it's like animation cancel but then restart the animation
I guess it's worth for optimal DPS. I could see it's relevance against thicker mobs
Atgeir has entered the chat
have not really used the atgeir that often
I love the atgier, great for when you're surrounded
It's an awesome weapon tbh
Atgeir and Bow have always been "meta"
ive mostly used maces, doing axes this playthrough, been implimenting some spear in early game due to how broken flint spear is
i did main weapon sword for mistlands tho
Stun locking mobs with atgeir is kinda broken.
This is the undeniable importance of atgeir and sledge. Great for crowd control in group fights
yeah frostner has saved me quite a few times
do you guys know if stone golems damage silver veins?
Last I checked they do not, they're a good indicator of when you're at the right height to find silver though.
Although Frostener is good for "staggering" enemies, I found that Black Metal weapons deals more damage in the Mistlands, which one do yall recommend? Black Metal Atgeir or Sword?
That's a tough one, I used both myself, but if I had to choose one it'd be the Atgeir.
They don’t. The only mob in mountains that does is Moder
You supposed to say I'm afraid not 😦
lol. Your right. I missed a chance.
I usually prefer Blunt weapons, and pair it with a round shield. I guess I can give Porcupine a try.
As it is a dark metal weapon as well
Oh wait, I should actually go with Atgeir.. for seekers
Bruh, i wanted to see my world cuz i factory reseted it, after i join the world..... "They sougth you out".
💀
Ok?
Do infested mines in the Mistlands respawn monsters inside? Like after a certain time has passed maybe?? I don't think they do but this one...I been here before and it's full of bugs
no matter...more stuff to collect I suppose.
They do actually spawn some new mobs inside the infested mines, as they have rewenable jelly piles too.
Oh do they now! This is welcome news!! Very cool indeed =+) I can revisit these mines and stock up on precious jelly too
Only some of the mobs respawn. Not all.
Hey, everybody. It's 12:00 in the afternoon. How about you?
10
10 here too
10am
Now it's 12am.
5 am 😎
That is..quite the workaround
8am for me 👀
Can also just lure a troll to the mountains and have em break silver for ya
If a stone golem can't break a silver vein, then how am I to expect a troll would?
#screenshots message I see you enjoy some Klossen too @glossy dune.
🤷♂️ by testing it, doesn't make any logical sense that a troll can but a stone golem can't but that's just how it is
Troll can break silver?
yup
Wow. Unexpected.
Same
Gotta go test in my test world.
I didn't believe it either until my buddy henrik showed me
Is paid dedicated server only 10 slots?
Ask them
Ask who?
The server provider...
Mine is. Seems most are. Even though Smiffe suggested 4-5 players would be more optimal. A world can't truly sustain ten players
It's true! Also it can break obsidian.
Save me a wiki trip. Does troll do different damage than Golem
Stone golems cannot break either obsidian and silver.
Right. While Trolls have been able to for years now. Just curious if it's a difference of damage types
nah not really any differences in damage types
It's the pickaxe/chop power in their attacks.
they both do blunt pickaxe and chop pretty much
It is what it is. To make it tougher in the mountains? Interesting
ya prolly
much easier to lure a stone golem to a silver vein (if it were possible) then to lure a troll up into the mountains
Exactly. Another thought. Will fighting a golem near silver still reveal the location? "Too hard"
Not sure about that one, they changed up some displays for pinging a few patches ago. Eg. Iron sledge used to ping too hard and now it pings 0s for silver
Stagbreaker only shows the "too hard".
Yup
Just thinking this could be a reason to block Golem from affecting silver
Could use them as locators
Do I need to start a new game to find the bog witch
Or is she able to found prepatch
Assuming you have not explored all the swamps in your world ye you can find her in your current world
Nice
Thank you
Been experimenting with Klossen plus towershield, works actually quite nicely
hello!
I just tried out Ashlands for the first time and i thought a zone couldn't be more aids then mistlands lol
Klossen is great weapon. Pairs really well with Thunder axes when you get group of warriors immobilized and you finish the job with axes.
My skills have all regressed back to the same lvls as when i went to my first swamp 😄
Right tools for the job go a long way.
What build are you playing? Ashlands are tough for the first few hours, magic makes it much easier in the beginning, frostner or mistwalker are also great choices.
Using mistwalker with full uppgraded carapach gear
Use root harnesk for pierce resistance combined with fire res mead, it helps big time
bone mass or eikthyr work well too
I might just suck but i feel like there is just so much coming at me all the time i barely have any stamina to do anything but avoid and run
Something like atgeir for crowd control in such high mob count
The first drop on Ashland’s seems to be very different for everyone based on RNG
My first landing ever to Ashland’s was perfect i set up portal and got to flametal fairly quickly, my second landing? Got absolutely ravaged by every enemy on the continent
For me it always feels as D-day, welcome party at the beach with serpent
Yea i had that when i arrived, That corpse pickup was no fun at all 😄
My first drop was straight into double spawners. I had another player with me. It was chaos.
My axe skill is down to 11 lol 😄
Check screenshot section, I had 3 morgens and valkyrie with bunch of charred hunting me when I left the beach for the first time, 3 morgens ! 🙂
Did you run back naked lol
Na, You don't loose skills when corpserunning 🙂
Two star Morgen's hit like freight train 🚂
For the first conquering of ashlands protection, ember and frost staff just help so much plus you have 2 energy bars with eitr, stamina making you fast and versatile
I guess, I just didn't realy find the magic stuff that much fun 🙂
But if that's what it takes i guess i just gotta roll with it 🙂
Ye in solo playthrough it might be painful for a while. Gotta look forward to those insane end game weapons and armor @tough anvil Also Ratatosk elixir is too damn good
Aye, The Ratatosk is real nice! I guess i just gotta muddle through and try to improve my gear and use all the buffs i can when i go out 🙂
Lightfoot mead helps a lot for dodging attacks
Yeah and also beware of asksvin haha
Yea lol, Have one knock me into the hotbath earlier 😉
2 star or even 1 star are really vicious ones for sure
Yea i run from those mostly lol 😄
2 star only spawns during night tho, but even 1 star can wreck bad.
you got a 2 star Asksvin don't you?
I wonder if there is that big a difference from a 1 star to a 2 star in performance while mounted but I guess that is players riding skill?
please keep it english in here, thanks 🙂
A wild rsmlord appears 👀
🫡
Demons appear by simply speaking latin
In 3 worlds I've managed to tame 2 star asksvin.
do you use them for movement?
Well, they have more HP and damage but no other noticeable differences when riding.
Rarely, I have some of them in Ashlands outpost tho. But I've also secured them in my main base and have several eggs in chest too.
They shred lox to pieces
Never bothered with taming em
Trying to haul like 15 stacks of black marble back to my base. How the hell do I do it efficiently? Meginjord isn't cutting it and a cart taken to the mistlands is a bad idea because so much rocky terrain
Portal?
Could work actually but server owner made portals more strict
Even taming 1 star is enough for not running out Asksvin tails and hides for the rest of the game, 2 star one is just plus.
boat
almost always a boat is the best way to transport items (if portals are disabled)
One time was pure luck and accident, but managed quickly dig a pit and start the taming before dawn.
I tamed a 1 star recently and it took a long time heh
First time took 15ish nights to encounter one.
Second time it took 2 nights and almost right after dusk was set.
He never even tried HM, last time he played was before the modifiers, he really didn't need 50 mods -.-
bro's hardcore mentality of 1 death = delete character in valheim is resetting at least 5 times the game
Can't even get past Eikthyr at this rate
The racoon death right after eik yesterday was funny af tho
Has few times now, I believe 19 characters are dead and barely passed to BF.
Ah yes, “quality of life” 😅
Did you see that absolutely ridiculous "tent" he built 2 days ago 🥲 never been more triggered
I can imagine.
Physical pain
Also emotional. 🥲
I miss when his wife used to make him houses lol, actual effort
Then he breaks floor that has dandelion under and put it back in wrong direction.
He has them on so if we have armour in our inventories we can't bring it back because it's technically metal smelted into their forms. Thank you so much. I guess I'll have to make the trip all the way back. Appreciated
Wait what if it's black marble just teleport it?
Could also get the troll strenght potion for less trips
- I have my armour on me which is made from iron
- My tools count as not allowed to be transported
- I did not know there was a strength potion now. Thank you for that info
Bring the BM as close as you can to a portal, then run naked 😄
Lol. Ok that sounds good with me. I will try that. My only other problem is transporting my entire gear loadout back to my base
My mistlands outpost is at the most southern part of the map and my base in the plains is pretty far.. I think north-east of the map
Maybe use non-metal armor? Troll for stealth or Fenris for extra speed?
Did an update make wood no longer damageable by water? I notice the wood poles submerged in the ocean no longer take damage
Don't think so? Probably have a mod at play
Last I checked, I don't have any waterproof wood mods installed
Can someone maybe drop me some early game basic armor for my charecter don’t have a lot of time to play during week to farm just made my first house but don’t have the time to scavenge for a bunch of leather scraps thanks or even donate some leather scraps would help a lot working on catching boar at the moment some help would be great appreciate it
Mods can break the game in ways completely unrelated to their content
Is game pass same as Xbox live?
I purchased an Xbox to play this game not to sound crazy
...huh
I thought the ones I had weren't active anymore or something
I can only hope getting rid of them won't break something else
I can only assume it's remnants of the buildable boat mod
no
10-4 appreciate the help man I’ve spent a few hours to farm 14 boar and still ain’t got enough for my gear. Then learnt to catch boar can’t wait to get my farm going!
Just a damn troll smokes my house every third day
While it was attacking you!?
No, it didn't get aggroed yet so I went back to nearby fortress I had cleared earlier and dig a pit next to the wall. Then I lured it into the pit.
Ahh okay was gonna say that seems crazy lol
Unfortunately i cant even hardly see askvins in ashlands at night until I'm right ontop of them, even with my screen brightness maxed.
I had no harpoon so I lured it to lunge attack into the pit.
This is the way
I was quite lucky to notice it's darker skin and larger size and not aggro it, those asksvin has quite large aggro range.
Ummm, a squad of skellies just spawned inside my base, how is that possible. All the workbenches etc are intact, and the skellies appeared in the room beneath them, no more than 3-4 meters away
Skellies are barely a nuisance, but if that happens with something more dangerous as I'm farming, I'd be in trouble...
If you buy the game on xbox, it's the exact identical game as on PC
Sniffe when 1.0
insert gif
mods?
them going around/over your walls is also a possibility
No mods, and the entire outpost is on a raised plateau, next to it there's a terrace for growing crops and a bridge between. There's no way in for walking mobs, of that I am 100% sure. The terrace is outside the building with the workbenches, but I was on the terrace planting barley and they came out of the house to attack me...
odd
yeah
Well, as long as it's just skellies I'm not too fussed, annoying if they smash stuff up but that's about the worst that can happen.
keep a couple of wolves guarding and they will kill the skellies (ofc if smth like fulings spawn they will get obliterated but thats a tomorrow-you problem)
Indeed
I think I figured out what happened. They must have spawned out on the terrace and walked into the house, when I ran out I simply didn't see them, they were probably clustered under the staircase since they can't path up ladders. Then they came out after me
Gonna slap down some standing torches on the terrace
My first time playing (i'm solo), I have beat the Queen, but I'm scared to move onto the Ashlands. I think I'm just going to chill and chop down trees and collect honey for awhile.
What scares about Ashlands?
Bruh, My axe skill is down to 11 after going to ashlands 😄
The environment and pretty much everything I have read on the internet 😩
I've died more in the last day then i did all the way up to ashlands. And it's not even close 😄
The mistlands and the Queen specifically were tough for me, I probably just need a bit of a reprieve
No rush take your time lol
Yea i gotta see my therapist about PTSD after going to Ashlands 😄
Ashland’s is literal hell on heim
Haha the Ashlands reputation precedes itself once again 😭
I respect it though, afterall it is endgame content.
On my second playthrough and have over a dozen deaths in Ashland’s so far
It’s weird coz I can’t think of any other game like this where a single playthrough can be hundreds of hours long
I love it, I've never played a game like this at all and I'm obsessed with it.
Aye, It's awesome! But Ashlands is on a whole other level when it comes to EVERYTHING wanting you to die a horrible painfull death 😄 My apple watch even gave me a notice about my pulse 😄
I really respect the dev's for making a game that has actual difficulty and nuance, and not just handing everything to players. Too many games these days baby the player way too much. But also maybe I am speaking too soon as I haven't been to Ashlands yet aha
This game literally makes me want to learn game dev because I'm so impressed with it.
Valheim does have a good difficulty progression. Meadows is just cosy, then you wander into Black Forest and it throws the Big Blue guys at you, for me that first troll encounter was about the scariest moment I've had playing computer games. The sheer, unmitigated panic I felt. Then I was so afraid of that brute when trying to get my stuff back - but then the elation when I finally killed my first troll, whoah! The game throwing things at you that you need to learn how to beat before you can move on, I love that.
Do you have to progress in the game? (from zone to zone) or can you stay in certain zones and just "live your life"? :<
Depends on if you are playing the story or not
Beating the game when it gets an ending will require killing every boss
The story is to defeat all the forsaken which requires going to every biome and killing their respective boss
Stay in meadows for 2000 hours if you want, the game will not force you to progress
But what if I just wanna play it as a sandbox survivor?
you will be satisfied in the ashland than 😄
then by all means do so
You may want to progress for more materials to build with but you don't have to
What happens when you "complete" the game then? Does your world reset?
Endgame is pretty much peak freedom you have access to everything
The ending isn’t finished we only have up until Ashland’s
We don't know because there is no ending, but this will definitely not happen. Hopefuly you can continue as if nothing ever happened
I'm still debating on what sandbox survivor Im gonna give a go. Looking for something enjoyable after long poker grinds :<
I’m just imagining they do the drop in at spawn sequence but in reverse, the Valkyrie flies you to Valhalla
Hope it's more epic than that
It's down to Ark and Valheim. Valheim looks to have a less toxic community
We get flown off to Odin's super secret hall of necks 🤞
Where we get to kill all the necks we want?
How does this game run on older PCs? (Considering getting my girlfriend to play also) her PC is 4-5 years old.
Can it run somewhat smooth on lower settings without looking like Minecraft? :<
Won’t know until you try it we don’t know your specs
Can always refund or keep until she gets an upgrade
It runs perfectly fine on a Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 16 gigs of RAM, and a GTX 1070ftw (my setup until recently)
i have 10 y old pc, going well
Steam has the system specs listed on the store page.
So you could consider to compare those to her PC.
Valheim has struck a perfect balance of sandboxy exploration, survival, building and crafting. The game lets you play however you want. If you want to loiter in the starting biome and build up stockpiles of stuff - you can do that. If you want to speed progress to get to endgame - you can do that. And everything in between. I tend to rotate what I do in phases. Gathering, building, exploring, crafting, growing crops, and once in a blue moon I'll go kill a boss when I'm so overprepped only the fact I suck can lead to failure...
Plus all the cool ways I see people modify their playthroughs, like the no-map people, those people are masochists 🤣
I don't think I'll ever submit myself to no-map torture, but next playthrough I'll go with portals disabled.
Mine runs fine on an old i7 from 2014 with a GTX1070
Oh, that can run it EASILY
You of course may need to slightly adjust the graphics settings, but it definitely won't need to be on minimum
Prioritise render distance
I run it nearly max on 1440p with that old GTX1070, Valheim is very forgiving
Except the graphics card i have basically the same setup 🙂 i can play at pretty smooth 60 fps through the whole game (with one or two exceptions which are just very demanding)
Only ever get the odd lagspike when the world saves, but I think that's a general thing, no?
Yeah
Mine is also abit meh. RTX 2080 OC and i9-9900k. Wasnt really meant for gaming at first but it turned out that way.
That was a powerhouse a few years ago, Should still be able to handle most stuff at 1440p aslong as your don't got ham with the raytracing 🙂
Does Valheim have Raytracing?
Sadly the i9-9900k's single core performance isnt great. But I didn't buy it for gaming back then.
No it doesn't, i meant in other titles 🙂 Tho Valheim has some realy pretty light effect nonetheless 🙂
The world is procedurally generated
Yea and the world is it's own file. So a heavily played world will make the file bigger but not big in any way
Dunno about a fully explored world but the ones i've played have never crossed the GB marker
What's the difference between playing in vulkan and the other option it gives you?
@nocturne wolfDo you know? :<
Sometimes the other option can perform better, so if you are having performance issues you should try it and check if it runs better.
How do we play on same server? Can I host it on my PC?
You can check the 'start server' box when loading a world and invite people through your friends list
From my understanding, Vulkan generally runs better on older hardware. @near furnace would be able to explain best likely
But I am correct in that it's often better on older HW?
Should we expect to see the amazing performance gains we have seen rumored about DirectX 12 and Vulkan in practice?

um. oposite
Ah
older hardware can have issues running Vulkan, hence they should try both normal and vulkan

if you're nerdy
Never tried Vulkan, as long as dx-whatever works, I feel no need to mess about
Old timer as i am that's been around since openGL and the inception of direct X i'm scared of new things and consider Vulkan Voodoo 😄
Same!
Never been as hyped as when i went from my 8 mb voodoo 2 to a 32mb Riva TNT 2 😄
else I slap you guys with my old Matrox Millenium card
The fey magic behind serpents suddenly not appearing when you want to find them...
I had a matrox g200 paired with that voodoo card 🙂
I got a few olden cards around
Matrox Millenium, Matrox Mystique, Riva TnT 2, Voodoo 2
and some other wierd "stuff" laying around in a bin 😄
I wish i'd saved more of that stuff now that age and nostalgia is starting to set in 😉
One day you'll be telling your grandkids how Gordon Freeman got out of Black Mesa on that thing 😉
As in steam friends list or ign friends list?
You're supposed to put heads on a pike, not put a pike on a wall
Steam
I wish I'd saved my first PC, was a Pentium 60 with a brutal 8 MB of RAM, with a video card that actually had 2 mb of dedicated memory, not a common thing back then. Spent every penny from a summer job on that thing, and a year later it was hopelessly obsolete haha
but really, if you catch a class3/4 fish, you don't turn them into filet, you mount them. Who wouldn't?
who here has balcony ideas?
elaborate
How do I change password on a server I created?
Run it with something different after -password
Don't think it's a dedicated one
how do i upgrade workbench to lvl 2?😔
Pick up flint near water in meadows 😉
okay, thanks. but how many? cuz i have some flint already
Ah, then you should have the upgrade unlocked already 😄 look to the right from the workbench in hammer menu for a build piece with little star
ohh, workbench improvements?
Yep 🙂

Hi, good night, someone strong can help me?
Man, Started a new playthrough and finaly reached Ashlands and was looking forward to seeing the content for the first time. But honestly it's slowly draining the fun out of the game for me... 😦
Ashlands are draining the fun out of the game?
I wanted to ask about the difficulty in game, because the game feels easier than before on the normal difficulty, or is it just me ?
Probably just you, the more you learn about the game the easier it gets after all.
They are more so a war than what you were met with before
Not to me, Might just be me sucking but i've got 1800 hours in this game but ashlands is just killing me over and over
Ashlands is a clear up in difficulty spike.
I mean we use the same characters with levels in skills but still feels a little off, a friend started playing the game with us too and he dies a lot more so I guess I will lower the difficulty back to normal so he doesnt lose all his skills
It takes some getting used to, best tip I have is to run along, find putrid holes, and take cover in those when you find yourself in a bind.
I can see the point though, I've only played through ashlands once yet myself, and it felt like a long tedious slog. I'll probably have to play through couple of more times before I adjust to the difficulty to be honest.
Honestly reminded me a bit about my first time in Swamp.
You can turn off not to lose everything but cannot switch skill drain off, which is still annoying
Yea my skills are down to what they was when i entered my first swamp
If you set the world modifier to its lowest, you'll only lose 1% of the skill instead of 5% (iirc)
Might even be lower at this point
Yeah but it still is a lot
I just want to lose items not skills, because yes I get the challenge and all but tbf imagine spending a lot of time just leveling a skill then you enter the ashlands and your skills vanish
But yeah, I found Ashlands like a siege. I ended up going a certain distance, then slap up a workbench, and terraform up a small plateau, so I could get away from things (portal if needed, range hordes down if needed, range down spawner if needed etc), and then repeat.
The main issue with ashlands, honestly, is the fact that even having max upgrades on armor and weapons doesnt eleviate the pain of fighting againts the amount of enemies and you can easily get overwhelmed
Also you are met with the brunt of your weapon choices
Only Melee build gets the biggest disadvantage
That's my jam, Been a melee player always
Magic is great, arrows sort of lose purpose
Also note that if you run on hard combat difficulty, shields becomes a lot worse, which can really throw off players that depends on them.
I realy don't fancy the magic stuff and all that so i'm kinda stuck
I will lower the difficulty to try to get my friend skilled up, we are already in the swamp
try crossbow and bows, doesnt change the needs of your character much
Only issue is that you wont have those skills leveled up enough
Running full uppgraded mistlands gear with mistwalker, And i feel like a zone shouldn't invalidate a playstyle completely
I'm traditionally a melee person, but ended up playing through Ashlands on magic, because I was playing with a friend that likes to run ahead, and has bad internet connection. So I got all the lag, so I gave up trying to time parries, and most dodges. And just went with Boomsticks.
Just finding a opportunity to swing the weapon when swamped with all the infinitely spawning mobs in Ashlands is a task onto itself
It doesn't completely invalidate it but you need to change your approach, and beware of morgens they are force to be reckoned with, if you want to fight them with melee, jump on them, specifically on its thigh it can't really hit you there
The little I did melee in ashlands, was a lot of kiting, corner hugging on any terrain I could find to break los, and a lot of ranged/bow destroying spawners.
The fallen Valkyries hitbox is a joke as a melee. While the mob just does a spin and 50% or more of your HP is gone
Yeah, don't think I fought that in melee at all, bow or magic for me there. Too bothersome to deal with otherwise.
Yea but 9 times out of 10 your fighting the valkyrie and 5 - 10 other mobs then just appear out of thin air as you're fighting
yeah its painful but you can overcome it with either crossbow or bow
just dont make cheap bolts
Well i'm down to 17 bowskill at this point which doesn't help with motivation 😄
You could use the chaos for your advance: most large mobs deal friendly fire to others so they can clear out smaller fries and hurt each other.
i've gone from like 75 ish something in runskill down to 44 since entering ashlands
At one point, me and buddy had found a place we wanted to get to, but it was so difficult to get there, we kept dying, I think he died 5-6 times. I got fed up and just grabbed piles of stone, and terraformed a earth-high-way straight through it, so I could walk on high and ignore most of the enemies.
I guess that would work, Doesn't feel like the intended way tho 🙂
Yeah, it's just what I tend to grab for when I get frustrated or annoyed. When I have that "¤#"! this!" moment, I grab my hoe and a pile of rocks and solve it.
Hey, If it works it works 🙂
Psst, death penalty can be adjusted in world modifiers, there is nothing wrong doing that.
pretty common experience, i went from 97 to 35 runskill
brutal experience your first time
returning after few years ,playing on casual settings ,couldnt find trolls for 30 mins ish, boss locations are really far apart too is that normal?
Just RNG.
Let's see....
Trolls are only found in the Black Forest. Either roaming "freely" or in caves. The latter are showing a couple of skull and bones in front of their entrance.
As for boss locations, as DereK said, it's a lot of RNG that sets their locations. It usually depends at where their biome actually spawns.
yea found roaming Trolls felt like they are spongy/tanky than i remember back then
once your skill reaches 30, and 60 threshold hte game will feel a lot easier
Used magic early in Ashlands, now running in just full melee and bow, running skill at 93, bow at 85, jump at 80, feels good man @tough anvil
I just found a cave with tetra fish..... yes!!!!
can I just say
that queen is harder than fader, just because the tools you get in ashlands is just way too much
Yea
Also queen summons are regular enemies meanwhile faders summons are 1 hits and fader usually kills half of em through friendly fire
oiiii help meeee . how do I remap the ping button to a different key?
Nope. But it does get updates every now and then. Next big update will add a new biome and make the game officially launch
🤭
Wait the game hasnt officially launched yet? When did it come out
hiya
Nice!
start of 2021 I think it became playable? It's a pretty complete game imo, tons of content. But they're still adding more
Yh
No idea if you can 😅
Haven’t tried
I only just got it but me and friend gonna try playing and completing it without spoilers etc
Best way to do it. I had a lot spoiled playing with an experienced friend
Enjoy!
It’s a great game!
tks :<
Agreed
My favourite experience was bumbling into a very specific biome cause I REALLY wanted to build a base there - found out everything is hostile, so I slowly built a starter hut, upgraded it to a fort, and upgraded that to a small village ( with the help of my friends), and finally upgraded that to a full blown castle
Not to mention the hours I spent trying to… befriend some of the natives
Must be ||plains||
There we go
No spoilers now 🤭
Yay! 🔥
something will go unnoticed if you are first time player
i have a progression guide bookmarked just in case i get lost
You'd have to try to ignore the clues
game gives you proper guidance but there are players who would wanna unlock as much map as possible ignoring the bird
played with someone who tried to unlock whole island and kept running for 3,4 in game days
||then realized map is quite big||
I finally found the Queen Vegvisir after months. My life is complete. I'll make preparations and tomorrow night fight the Queen
does anybody know how the base map graphic is generated in the world? not the process of revealing the map as you explore, but what is actually shown on the map
There are forests and open areas in certain biomes, which are shown on your map, although the map doesn't update itself even if you cut some forests down. You can use markers to mark locations on your map and also remove them.
POI locations are not shown on your map.
The terrain on every pixel (2048x2048) is given a colour based on the biome and height. Then a second layer is done showing the location of forest areas within meadows, black forest and plains.
Klossen is awesome, best mace variation in the game, feel free to change my mind !
i take it there isnt any achievements to earn in this game?
Not yet 😉
There will be eventually
despite that mace is a weak weapon, the klossen is most likely best call 🙂
Why would it be weak weapon? 🤔
slow, knockback is annoying, low damage, its only good for 2 bosses and for those who cant fight 😄
Same speed and dmg as a Nidhögg, tho i also dont like knockback
Also, most of bosses are neutral to blunt dmg, and one is weak to it, so it is really good weapon for them 😄
slow animation makes it not interesting for certain bosses
Wholeheartly agree.

Honestly playing Klossen with towershield, I just easily tanked and controlled bunch of charred with morgen and 2 askvins, not even breaking a sweat, all that with at least 50% stamina at all times. Lot of control is the key
The knockback helps a lot to keep distance from multiple charred even blocking isn't necessary as they miss their hits, plus additional chance to immobilize enemies.
Best 1h weapon type for crowd control surely.
surely not, you do the control, not the weapon 🙂
You know what I mean.
Or yeah, I do the control but with right tool it's easier. And maces are best 1h tool/weapon for that.
Get a root proc and switch to either thundering nidhogg or axes to finish the job
For bigger targets I like to use Primal axes to keep immobility affecting longer to finish the job.
Joelkkii, have you ever think that slow mace is the reason you get in to crowd? its so slow, that before you kill one enemy in ash, another 4 or more appear 😄
Again, it has the same speed as a sword 😅
it doesnt
Both 1h maces and swords share the same attack animation.
try parry morgen and use secondary atack, you will see the difference
The secondary attacks are different, the primary is shared
with mace, you have to move to your enemy, or wait for him to come back from knockback
Jump attacking allows you to move towards them while attacking so that's not much of a problem
yes, but than you need way more stamina
Oh yes, that is why i dont like knockback, but the primary attacks are exactly the same and on secondary the mace is actually faster 🙂
It isn't that much, especially in later game where your stamina bar is huge and there are ways to reduce it
When there are more enemies around you can keep hitting with primary attacks and switch targets when one gets knocked.
Feather cape, ask armor and lightfoot mead reduce it significantly, and together with eikthyr it can cost 0 stamina
I like also doing this, jump secondaries.

mb on the paper, in reality its different. if you really into investigate that, watch some xmal saga runs, there is a proof. with secondary of sword, you do double damage, with mace you dont hit in time for that
Feather cape, ratatosk + lightfoot mead + eikthyr and you feel like superman in mistlands @nocturne wolf or anywhere else for that matter hehe
Do you know any enemies that can be used as an example? 🙂 Will go try it myself
morgen
You wait for a root proc and you swap into your thundering weapon @paper roost
I'm recalling being able to deal double damage against Morgen with mace secondary after parry. Have to test later if my memory fails me.
On it right now! 😄
Just did it, you can definitely parry and secondary a morgen with a mace
You have to start the attack immediatly after parrying though
well, what i m trying to say is not to blame maces, its just the propaganda of that weapon here is way more than it deserves. there are so many great weapons you can use, you just have to adapt the playstyle. yes, mace is easy to use, basically brainless sometimes, but saying its best weapon is not correct
There is no best weapon
One would say best is subjective.
I dont think anyone said it is 🙂
many people do, not you tho. its just general observation of the chat
Ah 😄
i tried to mine whole copper node at once by collapsing it but picked a wrong node apparently
it was too close to water so cant isolate it
Btw just tested the secondaries, you can get the mace secondary to hit but it indeed does seem to take a bit longer than the sword secondary, you have to time it really well to hit. 🙂
So my memory was correct.
Secondary attack works really well vs warriors since their pathing is easily predicted
Yeah, plus their movement is slower.
well, again, all secondary atacks works well for them 🙂
True, no one denied that.
It's just @glossy dune and I, fellow Klossen enjoyers, who have kept conversing about its usefulness. 👍
Plus the looks of Klossen, another plus hehe
A brick on a stick xD
Not gonna lie i dont hate the look 😄
Well, like Smiffe said, kloss translates into building block.
I don't have the game yet..... I'm wondering is it worth it to get the soundtrack package as well?
tried 3 different boss stones all pointing at same location thats miles away T_T
Soundtrack list is very nice in this game, but it can also be found on Spotify.
So you don't really need it
Not necessarily.
the game is worth to buy for sure, dont know anything about soundtracks
Mm, especially on the half the price it's now currently.
make sure to have grindset mindset or it can be taxing
Yeah I noticed today that it is being sold half price
It is way more than worth it even at full price 😄
Boss stones (Vegvisirs) point at the nearest boss. So if you go to 3 different ones in the same rough area, they're likely pointing to the same one. If you want to try to find a different one, you usually have to travel far in the opposite direction to the one you've found and try vegivisirs in another part of the world.
Is it ok to play solo? Or is it better to group up?
Up to the individual, some like solo some like coop better.
Its mainly a single player game 🙂
Both are good. Coop is better with close friends instead of strangers tho.
I heard maybe some of the boss mobs you need a group??
No need, game is balanced for solo play.
Finally got it 🙏
I'd agree with this, but I also know there are others that thinks meeting random people in online servers is the best fun. So yeah, up to the individual :)
holy shit that took long
Preparation is what makes difference.
I've managed everything in the game so far on solo. Even most of it on harder difficulties (though I'm not a big fan of that)
Just be prepared to get absolutely destroyed a lot of times. :p
But yeah, be prepared to have to try out things, be patient, especially bosses are often a slow attrition grind to kill them etc. Test out different weapons to find what works best, learn how to block, parry or dodge thigns etc.
Depends on individual yeah, some people can be douches tho and ruin the experience.
Yup, like all my real life friends! kidding.
And regarding the soundtrack, personally I really liked it, since I use MP3's a lot, and don't touch those new fangled kiddie toys like spotify! Bleeh! My old nokia phone runs on mp3's scratches and love! (And a tiny amount of super glue and duct tape)
Thanks for all the info 😃
Those of you who know stuff, for a heavy armour user, is the serpent tower shield a good idea to use in Mistlands? Its block armor is obviously long since obsolete, but the pierce resist might make up for it? Especially vs those pesky starred ones that hit like freight trains? I usually never use tower shields since the slightly better block imo doesnt make up for the horrible movement penalty and no-parry. Normal loadout is heavy armour and a regular shield, gives me a bit of tankyness while retaining enough mobility to not get hit most times.
I was mainly wondering if we know if the block damage reduction is applied before or after the pierce resistance.
If you want pierce resist the root harnesk would be a better option imo 🙂
Tho i am not sure when the pierce resist is applied, i would assume after the block
Nah I'm good without that, I prefer not to burn like paper and be squishy to everything else...
Fire resist wine 😉
Resistances are applied after blocking and before armor
And blocking resistances (serpent scale shield) are applied before block armor
I go with round shield, sword and pleaded armor
That is good to know, I'm willing to try it out in the name of science then. Before now I have never had sperpent scales, but after a couple of successful hunts now I do 😄
I usually do too 🙂
Haven't died to seeker s yet this time around, all my deaths this run have been to jumping off my tower...
Serpent scale shield and other sources of pierce resistance stack, you can take 0 damage (no damage number shows) from fader's spin with enough block skill
Round shields have party bonus, good for combos, swords attack fast and have combo as well. I tried Root Harnesk but it didn't help much
So I just go with full pleaded
Yeah, round shield, sword and whatever heavy armour is flavour-of-the-biome is my usual go-to. I've tried lighter, mobility ways but I don't really like the playstyle. Although travelling in fenris with 100 run skill is a delight...
Seekers neutral to magic damage and resist a bit to slash, but my dark metal sword deals more damage than they can resist lol
A friend of mine told me to bring Frostener but I found it deals too little damage
Although it deals blunt, frost and spirit, which are neutral damage to Seekers
Black metal sword is good stuff. I bring the Mistwalker into mistlands, but outside that I prefer the black sword. It will stagger fulings, Mistwalker will not.
Seekers are immune to spirit and resist blunt
Eh... that they are resistant to slash just means they take half of what the weapon says. There is no treshold above which they do not resist it anymore.
It still works since they don't resist the frost. So it's still honestly useful.
The slow and knockback is the Way of Frostner though, whittle them down slowly...
i'm new
Frostner has puny damage even in the swamp to be fair, its strength is not the damage output
i wanna play with people
I'm sure you will find someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Look in #1024264966712340510 🙂 tho if its your first time playing i suggest to try it alone first
I guess it's more of using the Frostener to slow down enemies then attack them with other weapons? Or just pure Frostener?
I found it doesn't hit hard in the Mistlands
i don't like being alone : (
Don't worry, you have Hugin
Frostner is good for normal seekers but porcupine is better for everything else, and has much more stagger on the secondary attack
I find frostner just works, even if it isn't the best damage it usually does the job, the frost slow down effect makes it safer than most other weapons. It has a pretty good mix of different damage types etc.
More of a combat control fighting style, you keep enemies out of reach, whack them again when they get near, rince and repeat until you slapping them grinds them down
But yeah, for damage, parry something, and use the frostner's alternative attack.
Yea, works with single enemies 👍🏽
Well Valheim is primarily a singleplayer game with the co-op option 🙂 and you will learn most stuff that way. But if you want to play with others then it might be best to rope a few friends to play with you rather than strangers
is it okay to write something at #1024264966712340510
Yeah
I wish I have friends to play with
I was thinking to try out that too, as it deals blunt and pierce
And the only dark metal tier weapon that doesn't require dark metal
BM is so annoying to farm so yh
I usually encounter multiple Seekers at once so.. xd
BM?
Black metal
You can get a lot of it from fuling camps too
with 3-4 ppl BM is a bit scarce
At that point just tweak up your loot multiplier
Might be, but you dont really need that much 🙂
Why annoying?
I got a farm in the plains and each day I visit it I'm attacked by 3-4 Fulings and a couple of 'Squitoes. Easiest way to get BM and Needles if you ask me.
yeah ig, although the other metals were optimal
Black metal comes naturally from moving around the plains tbh. I've never had less than enough, even when we were a small village
I always have more than enough BM xD
idk, maybe I just did smth wrong
Only Iron is a bit annoying
Just roam around the Plains more
I got enough iron for 6 sets from 1 medium sized swamp lmao
Good for you >:/
idk maybe it just feels more plentiful cuz it's all in one place
With iron I tend to locate a big swamp and empty it of every single scrap, then whenever it runs out I repeat the process. Coming back to base with a longship fully laden with iron, it's a special feeling 🙂
Wait, I think I can upgrade my storage with BM instead 🤔
I have like a chest of them
it's a special feeling indeed, the feeling of refuelling furnaces for hours xD
I usually have a lot of coal from the surtling geysirs along with the iron and do 4 smelters morning and evening - i am way to impatient to babysit those smelters 😄 just let them run while i am out and about 😄
I never ran out of black metal
since I make my base in the plains
It's always iron the bottle neck
Whenever I have smelting to do I tend to just rotate all the other "chores" at base. Set the smelters, pop to harvest honey, pop to harvest sap and shrooms, plant new shrooms, renew smelters, pick up flour and replant barley, renew smelter, tend to the veggies, renew smelters and so on. It's kinda meditative and I don't mind it. My brother hates all that shit, he just wants to explore and bonk stuff, and that's fine...
@heady parcel I try to not be at home as much as I can - because not being there means no raids either 😄 sooooo I usualle fill everything up until my HP is up and then go, come back in the evening and fill everything up (tap sap, tap honey, replant, what have you...) and go sleep - rinse and repeat... makes for less raids and usually I get away with having just a garden wall to prevent fuling from walking into my kitchen 😄
That's a legit way to do it. Granted, bad luck can always happen. Recently I was just raising palisades around my shroom farm - which is not supposed to be a base at all but while building it naturally had more base pieces - and the "you got the chills" raid triggered. Thankfully they were distracted by the local dvergr long enough to gobble a pukeberry, eat better foods and pop a frost resist... Sadly, they decimated the dvergr camp who had kept seekers off my back until then.
What's the best iron weapon guys
Iron sledge
Atgeir is my favourite
Need a certain rare trophy
And som dirt
Nah you’ll be fine
I did it with lvl 1 iron armor and bronze mace, scales did it blindfolded
Using the Antidote potions is more important as your armor level.
Lol is he that ez ?
No scales is just that good
The scale shield ? 🛡️
He’s more like a unstoppable force
No, the member of this discord.
Oh

Scales is alright
Nah i'm shit at the game
Died to fader on my no food run last night again 😔 don't even wanna login anymore
There’s rumors that he spawns berserker mead using dev commands
Now that is an old reference
yah sure... you do not know how to use food and armor so you gotta play unfed and unclad 😄
yeah, you sucks, you need multiple tries to kill 9 queens 😄
Most people here would've died after facing their 3rd boar when using no food and armor. So getting to Fader is quite an achievement most won't even think of.
Yea completely understand. Just super frustrated. Almost at 700 hours for this no food permadeath challenge and I've gotten so close 3 different times now and I've just fumbled
Battleaxe is quite underrated weapon and really good in swamps.
go a little easy on yourself lad.. there are folks out there that can not kill eik without dieing and calling for help... the level of skill you have shown multiple time is beyond and above. 😄 I keep rewatching your Videos being fascinated all the time
You got that fight. Take a short step back from the challenge if needed. You'll get it
Pretty hardcore. Whats been your main strategies?
Abuse the broken stuff (atgeir and bow)
Parrying isn't an option either so that kinda forces the other two
And don't have the option of magic either
can you do potions, or not even that?
I've allowed potions
I'll just state the ruleset, no food permadeath, all bosses must be completed on very hard, (otherwise combat is on normal) and in order (to prevent cheesing earlier bosses with higher than "intended" gear), no progression skips (silver before swamp etc), no boss portals, raids are up to much more, no intentional farming of skills, and a general honor clause (if it feels like cheating it is)
Correct
Cheesy tactics like Demolisher spamming against Queen behind wall seems like out of the question.
Yea correct
So you jump from normal to very hard with bosses?
ye
thats out of the question for any honorable player 😄
Yeah, same.
will my save get fucked when the deep north releases
Just don't explore the deep north and you should be fine
No, unless you explore the furthest Northern part of your world.
would i still be applicable for the steam achievements when it releases? or will i need to progess the game again
That I don't know, it remains to be seen.
fuck i hope i wont need to progress again
I'd assume you could get achievements in your older world (unless using devcommands). But like I said, we don't know it yet.
Progression is fun idk why you wouldn't want to do that again
id rather not die over and over and over again to do it again
word
To get better?
ngl i think ill hold off playing until achievements come out and id rather not spoil myself
Scales you got any more builds you're working on. Or too dialed on the no food challenge
not atm
after no food imma do no armor run and that's a little more chill then no food (lol) so plannin on cookin for that run
Maybe I should try no armor some time... Currently I'm limiting armors that have movement speed penalty (so Root Harnesk is out of the question).
I think no armor would be a lot of fun yea
harnesk actually has movement speed penalty, but its not important
How is that much more chill. Food gives you a little wiggle room. But with no armor your one shot by most things plains and beyond?
No food you can't passively regen hp, which makes all damage permament until you use a health potion
No armor you can tank some stuff for the most part and be fine
Fair
Yeah, it fits the category.
Harnesk is one of the most OP armor pieces in game.
the most op, yeah
Yeah, and fire weakness is easily countered.
i wanted to do heavy armor only before they introduced the ratatosk, but i just couldnt stand the speed, i would rather do no armor than that 😄
Going for knives only back stab only in the future?
Ratatosk really is game changer. 👌
I'd rather do no hit valheim then do a knives only run
the only weapon type i despise
Everyone has their limits lol
Curious, what's with the knives Scales?
i love the knives, best weapon for me up to hard difficulty
short range and just not my style idk, i completely acknowledge they're good just not for me
Well, understandable. Short range is expected however (unlike with spears tbh).
@shy marlin what about flesh rippers?
I like them for what they are, wish there were more fists weapons in the game tho
We can hope 1.0 fixes that. 🙏
yeah, i think devs missed the timing on each weapon biom, should have been ashland, not deep north
Perhaps spear will get a range buff come 1.0 as well
why?
Primary attack has the distance of a knife. Throw is fine enough
still dont see a reason why it should get buff
man playing 20 hours of Val over the weekend really makes the time fly too fast lol
The length of an atgeir with effective range of a knife. No problem?
well, bigger problem as i see it, that it hits multiple enemes with the tip
It's actually 0.1 meters more than with knife.
Lolol
If the hitbox was too thin it would just be too difficult to hit anything
yeah, i understand why its implemented in the game, its just feels wrong
Splitnir is longer than Himminafl btw.
How?
It’s simply behaving like any other attack hitbox
I killed a prized pig with the over stab.
Not sure I should feel better Joel
the multiple hits, you not swinging with it, you jab
Despite shorter range spear is actually one of my favorite weapon types.
Yes that’s why the hitbox is small. Swings typically have a much wider hitbox
Pierce has penetrate that's what it is.
It’s nothing to do with the damage types

Somebody just yeet me outta here
💥
When we’re ready
Ready at the waiting Captain 🫡

I'm picturing a neck holding those
^ Actual final boss of game
But that means we need to kill it
Price to pay for valhalla
Mutated
and 🐗 team. Hopefully they don't also call in mortar strikes.
The classic cemetery. Everyone is dying to get in
I have never made it past the swamp
Not enough content creators doing the immersion challenge imho
what is that?
get back in there Grease!
No map no portals
Wait so we're calling it a challenge now to play the base game 🤣
oh you mean like no portals entirely?
I don’t think I’d survive without a map
Poison pots take much of the stress out of swamp. But learning how to combat is huge. Swamp really teaches stam control
The only reason I’ve never made it past the swamp is because I get tired of sailing
So vanilla didn't have a map at one time? Most people nope out at the mention of it.
I see what you're saying, I thought you were saying like no Valheim World Map Generator, aka the site that shows you your whole completed map without exploration.
Oh Valheim may not be for you. I spent days sailing yesterday. Keen on a spot in the south on my map.
no map is super fun, no portals not that much
Nah I love the game so much
I love that site. But won't use it while I'm playing a seed.
I also just get tired of playing on my own
This no map run we are on had a gorgeous spawn. "Massive" mountain just north. Spawn is right next to an inland bay.
Don't know the seed yet
Can you start the game on a server where people are already playing?
Yea absolutely
I always recommend the first playthrough being on vanilla settings because it's such a great experience, but if sailing really does bug you, there are some simply in game modifiers that can help reduce the amount you have to sail around
I have to wonder if the Deep North will end up being some sort of viking holy land (with regular, non-fallen valkyries to fight), being the final trial before ascending to valhalla
Either way, I'm so excited
And I hope it'll have uses for my battering ram and/or catapults
I hope the deep north has an atgeir
There has been some rumors of Deep North getting more variety of different weapon types, but that will remain to be seen.
Scythes would be sick
There is already one. Not as a weapon but a tool.
