no, but i dont wanna dive to this again today 😄
Rely on weapon for stagger right. I haven't done VH in a year
Or spin-to-win
I mean atgiers xd they make vh - easy (until a 2* draugur 1-taps u from behind xd)
you can take 3x mosquito hits iirc
if you have like iron helm, root chest, fenris legs
what is iron helmet? 🙂
The root chest should allow for a lot more'n 3
on vh i mean
Yes but 1 staggers you I think, depends on the food sure
Vhard isn't much fun imo
yea u get staggered
Like it feels fun to take on the challenge, but the combat just ends up kinda eh
Hard feels good tho
The Moder fight alone...the agony
And then when there are 3 coming... That stagger kills you
SO. MANY. ARROWS
idk feels weird to go down in difficulty oince u have reached vh
i do miss being able to parry stuff tho
Moder is definitely a scary fight on Vhard, especially if also doing permadeath. You need a very specific setup to not get oneshot by her, involving serpent stew and 3xhp food
Fang spear shreds her though
it can be, but you have to look at it a bit different way, but, i think hard is the perfect balance
Ye imo vh is just a bit masochistic... (But everyone who turns it on should know what they r doing... It's GOOD in it's own what xd)
I found flesh rippers great for moder, good DPS, low stamina usage... You can punch her 6-8 times in between her attacks in melee
Imo there's 3 choices on VH.
- Die
- Shoot everything from range instead of actually engaging with combat. Can cheese your way through the whole game pretty much.
- Be a legend at dodging / boost up your block level and upgrade your shield to be able to parry enemies
There is 4th
Spin-to-win
True that one kinda falls under 2. Not ranged but still cheesy imo
Its funny though how much root chest value changes based on difficulty. Like on v-easy it barely does anything, whereas on v-hard it will legit negate like 250 damage
Reto dealing 460 pierce *200% = 920
Yeah, resistance is super powerful, It would be interesting to see which pieces were more popular if there were more sources of it
Root vest tried it's best and reduced 460 DMG for you, unfortunately u died anyway 🤷😂
I've said it before but I hate that the standard for difficulty increases is just "tweak the damage & health" - it's easy to implement and technically does add a lot (here we are talking strategies and what doesn't work anymore), but I wish other ways were more widely implemented (even if they're a massive amount of work)
True. I do like that star level, size, and movement speed changes too though
AI rewrites, new moves - those would be gold
Not only it also makes mobs move faster, and give them more % chances to get a star!
And I am very happy that the difficulty settings affect the damage of mobs, not the damage the player takes
Makes it very fun to make mobs fight each other
Don't like the player damage reduction though
I mean it would be fun to see more enemies try to feint u like charred
But... Pls not the trolls, not the golems xd, that would be a total overkill even for a VH masochist
Maybe not, if the damage was toned back down
Doesn't change much, just gotta get used to new stagger patterns on different diff setting
I weirdly never had an issue with charred feint
That is - I never learned to anticipate their feint and always blocked too early, but it didn't matter because I can just let go of block and then reblock when I realize they didn't attack, to get the parry off
Number of hits stays mostly the same (for the small mobs, bosses and big ones like trolls, bersekres do change)
2 star mobs on vhard just feel ugh to fight imo
i more disappointed in fact, that devs made so little weapon types in ash. i know they said there will be all weapon types in DN, but there will be too little time to enjoy them before game is over. i feel like ashland was the place. all we got there is bunch of swords, axes and mace, not talking about magic, not worth my time
Same 😂 I do like the mechanich tho - makes them way harder to dodgeroll
fist weapon fist weapon fist weapon
Until u go battlemage and parry them with Ur bubble
oops got absorbed into game but thanks yall for input!
bubble so good on vhard
The only way to parry certain things
btw flesh rippers are quite fun in ash and surprisely effective on normal
Wouldn't say surprisingly effective, but is totally possible to kill all the stuff there using them
well, for me it was surprise 🙂
Although it takes a while to punch down the morgen
Their kick can consistently stagger a charred warrior at high skill on normal difficulty
most of the big stuff starting with lox is a bit annoying with them, but man, i just love that weapon
Flesh rippers are my favourite weapon for starred fuling berserkers, the two-hit combo means you can get a lot of damage in the short time you get to attack
not just that, also asks. you can also parry the roll of morgen 😄
Try baiting them into as slope - then u can jump on top of loxs' neck - and just punch him down with anything
- his basic auto won't hit you
- the stomp will damage you - just jump when he jumps
i m over plains period with that, raiding ashlands when i have power to play
Well atgier can just stagger them xd
Even on hard I think I was able to stagger seekers with them. They're quite nice
im ltj a EU server to a new playtrough
This run I'm trying to be versatile changing my type of weapon every time I go to a new biome. Probably gonna end up with like 50-60 in 4-5 weapon skills
Yes on hard I'm 100% it was, haven't tested on VH tho
i was playing with them on hard till queen (only flesh rippers, nothing else), than the queen was a bit of nightmare couse of the time, not difficulty, so switched to normal and when i knew more about ash, went there
Kinda wanna get back to ashlands. Oneshotting valkryies with blood crossbow is a lot of fun
Hmmm I either die to much or speed run too hard as I'm usually no getting those numbers after 1 biome 🤔
#1024264966712340510 most're probably NA but you can probably find an EU somewhere
This is a deathless run so won't have to worry about skill degrading. I am spending a while in each biome though and even though I'm switching weapons between biomes I might end up doing the same weapon for two biomes. Like meadows and plains knife, maybe
In Ashlands I'll prob also make a lot of weapons
Take atgier for plains then - the horde fulling chasing u down calls for the spin to win
Nah atgeir and bow have been banned, too strong
It's bad how many limitations I put on myself, like I have to write them down to remember
Just use flint & bronze weps the entire run, get all the skills 100
so no bows, clubs, sledges, swords, spears then if ur banning op weapons then like you have no combos lol 🤨
like this is my current world:
Hard Difficulty
No Boss portals (and no portalling out of dire situations)
No Resistance Meads
No dying
No Atgeir
No Bonemass Power
No Bow
No Cheesing
No Terrain Walls
No Excessive Pet tactics
No Staff of Embers
No Sleeping through Night
Only 1 Eitr food at a time (basically just using magic as a secondary attack/utility, not a main playstyle)
Try to switch weapons often between biomes to be jack of all traits
....but bubble staff?
Arbalest allowed?
I'll allow some bubble staff because I do want to try and have fun with blood weapons and parrying 2 star enemies
how do u make a ballista target a greyling? they have no trophy
Crossbows are pretty fun for sneak attacks so I'll use those, not gonna just be shooting 50 shots at an enemy from long range though
Don't put any trophy in it. It'll target greylings
and me
Oh boy, sledges, clubs and swords are nowhere near atgier xddd
ballista sucks
I do need to try out sledges, never used them much
Yeah too expensive for me to consider
Yes atgier sucks at killing most bosses, but other than boss fights the rest is just 2 lvls down...
im just gonna get a mod for ballistas
I tried... Got bored quickly... They kinda work... But you run out of stamina fast and are vulnerable to ranged mobs as you are not moving while smashing
I'll prob have to pick up a sledge or greatsword for fending off the hordes in Ashlands
All Gucci, just was curious how r u attempting that fader
And I was willing to hop in in Ur stream or sth and guide u through
its risky. only use it behind walls
I do like the demolisher just forms this bubble of destruction though
Crystal Battleaxe is surprisingly effective for how early on you can craft it.
(In Ashlands)
exploiting isn't really my style
I'm guessing sledge can be good if you do some jump hits or something. I'll have to experiment
2handed sword probably the safer option tho
...How can they still be stuck on this?
Last time I crafted it before killing elder xd I used the good'ol troll labour
certain enemies can do the same thing
Idk, I wanted to see that
At this point I want to see a recording of their previous attempts to see what the hell went wrong
Srlsy those guys actually got me extra curious
Yea I wish they couldn't but eh. I'm not gonna stoop to their level
atgeir then
Oh god - could you imagine someone writing the AI to intentionally try & cheese to kill you?
Now that- that my friends would be difficulty
He banned it for himself, it's too OP 😂
It's a long way through the bottom of the ocean for that little twitcher but he'll find Ur ass in meadows!
Morgen starts rolling as soon as you spawn in
Hot take: Morgen are awesome
The most friendly enemy around - they damage other things
Morgen gift you with old structures Grausten, so nice
Someone ought to build a menagerie, on one of those "all biomes" continents
Every creature in the game in a single place
That's debatable, those screaming sisters of theirs (Valkyries) are actually even more helpful while dealing with hordes
Yes but only if minibosses wander too
Their AoE has just so much more range
I HAVE THAT PLAN!!!!
Just didn't have enough time lately
But I'm actually planning that for a while now
I figured that some plains would be a nice place for a zoo - a lot of flat terrain
But I'll need to recruit some buddies to hurl the bonemaw out of ashlands
I have one cought actually - still in a cage in Ashlands tho xddd
Around 600 I think
I believe there's a mod that allows you to craft a biome to your liking, so you could just scatter plot biomes on 1 massive island
But I am the type of guy that falls into the sweaty minmax playstyle very fast whenever I like the game
Why?
Are the plains vegvisirs bugged or something? I've been to 15 plains biomes or something, and none of the henges had any....
It is just rng doing rng things. They are very rare in plains.
No, they just end up being really rare.
You'll almost certainly find the altar first because they're massive.
last time i played was during ashlands beta test and it was the same.
And most certainly find vegvisir afterwards in nearby stonehenge.
I had to go to the edge of the world, just to find it, and it was ALL the way back where I came from.
I feel like I have a completely different plains experience than most players lol, I always find the vegvisir without seeking it out and usually find it when I’m still in mountain tier pre moder lol
thats the first rule of valheim, you always find what you are not looking for 😛
I've also usually found the altar first, but in this run I was extremely lucky to find one during end of swamp era with some early peeks to mountain and plains.
W
Yes, that's why you don't focus on searching serpents but instead go to a long trip to some POI. You end up getting 3 serpents during night trip. 🤭
exactly 🙂
Science can't prove it > doesn't mean isn't truth
Y’all reckon fishing for iron would be worth? I’m tryna figure out the best way to me to obtain a reasonable amount of iron without access to crypts
the way I see it my options are iron fishing, prospecting with stag in the swamps, oozer hunting or risking it in mistlands
good answer
It's quite low chance to get iron by fishing, especially in large quantity.
there's also Frost Caves, destroying all the reinforced doors you see and praying
Hmm, I’m thinking best option will be then to get at least enough iron for a longship and stonecutter then go risk it in mistlands for a bridge by the coast
i used to fish to get 10ish iron for basic stuff before the Elder, very time consuming, after Bog Wich i gave up (5 iron first to be able to crft the bait) and went for Oozers and Frost Caves
Is a longship necessary?
Yes
Hauling portal mats and more inventory space for drops along the way
I mean it’s not necessary necessary but I will feel more confident in a longship then a karve
yup, i love the karve for manuverability, but mistlands is unforgiving for that tiny boat, and most of the coast is too deep too early for recovering materials if it breaks
The wooden doors inside frost caves in mountains have a chance to drop iron too - pretty low tho. Viable if u want to cheese your way into a silver sword or dagger but u won't get much
Nvm I see I'm too slow xd
I’m thinking too far ahead for now anyway, I’ve still not found a troll to start breaking copper and tin nodes
U can try to take forge with you, go with carve and craft longship on the spot 🤷
that’s also an option
But mistlands are very dangerous if u don't have at least an iron atgier
How would bronze atgeir fare (fair? Idk)
But a flint spear with enough dedication to jump ove seekers will do as well xd
Haven't tested that one myself... I has noticeably lower stagger... But it might actually work...
U might need to spin twice to stagger them... But I'm not sure
Considering I’ll be struggling for iron a max bronze atgeir is 63 compared to iron 65 at lvl 1
To be fair it's just way easier to slay the elder tho xdd
I wanna do bosses in reverse order
good luck
It’s a long term project for sure, I’ve been having a blast so far taking my time with the meadows which I usually rush through
its popular nowadays, i was also thinking about it
reverse boss order sounds insane
very difficult, not looking forward to do it myself but saw interesting yt videos, you'll have to walk it on the brink of game mechanichs, and of death of course
death?
lvl 1 bronze atgeir can stagger seeker
on vh
meaning you'll most likely be constantly at high risk of death
i know what he means, just dont know why? 😄
Reverse boss order. The first boss you fight is fader
i know, just kidding
is dundr supposed to be really weak or am i using it wrong
How are you using it?
It's more effective in closer distance and against single targets.
It’s a shotgun
Works in close ranged
ik but still just making sure
The big knockback helps keeping some distance against some targets, like asksvin and warriors, which is helpful.
And it can deal devastating damage against Morgen.
Idk, maybe we both are using it wrong...as yeah it seems weak 🤔 you can try parrying before shooting - then it deals the 2x dmg... (I suggest parrying inside Ur safe protection bubble)
Aight, cool, good to know. I can believe that - just haven't tried it as the bronze is just sooooo boring to grind I usually make just a bronze axe for the wood and skip the rest of the "bronze age"
YES
nature staff vines can proc the stuck effect?
yea
It's very fun
In stats and upgrades yeah, looks hell no
Glitch into crypt using chair, also u will have to glitch into queen room as well since u cannot make a sealbreaker
Eh no sealbreaker is no dealbreaker but I wanna avoid glitching intro crypts
fending for my life for some iron in a mix of bronze-mountains gear in the mistlands could be fun
Anyone know any good pvp servers?
There might be some in #1024264966712340510 but it's not really a PVP game.
havent played this game since there was only 5 bosses
Time to run up another fresh start
the biome of the 6th boss is pretty bonkers, enjoy!
so the trollstav meteor always gets me lol who else gets squashed by this thing accidentally??
happened to me once, when I used the staff it showed the troll would spawn far ahead of me and he ended up spawning on top of me and killing me
never had that happen lol
this is what keeps happening to me! I'm so confused I thought you could sort of aim the direction but lately it's been landing 180 degrees from where I cast it and ends up falling on my head like miles from where I cast. wondering if I'm desyncing
What's the best way to level blood magic? Should I just summon a few skeletons and hang out at a grey dwarf spawner?
Skellies + protective bubble and keep spawning it the moment it gets destroyed.
im looking for people to play with, im willing to host a server if i get a few guys dm if interested
You will most likely find lots of likeminded people in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
draugr spawners in the swamps use a hoe to raise the dirt on the spawner so it doesn't get destroyed. This levels it tremendously faster than graydward spawners.
I found a glitch if you die wearing the megingjord and then regain your stuff and equip it your get 600 weight as if your wearing to of them
Even when i unequip it i have 450 weight
No, corpse run gives you +150 carrying weight
also, did they nerf Fader, bc I am fighting him for the second time, and he doesn't have his attack with lava and spikes anymore
They didn't
Not a glitch
started a server password 12345 server name IDGAF
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 is a better place for that message
I can see you don't considering how publicly you are sharing it. I will assume you will only blame yourself for whatever happens
in addition regarding blood magic leveling.
To put it into perspective it takes 20k exp to level from 0-100, every swing from the undead skellies adds 0.5 ,or 0.75 exp per hit for range and melee respectively. So it'll take 26.6k - 40k skelly attacks.
If you've got a day job forget getting to 100 anytime soon through normal playtime sessions.
So just go out on a limb here but modor is in the snow so some kind of ice/snow boss so fire arrows? Or bon fires?
She's going to fly, so I'm not certain if bonfires work.
Fire arrows do work, as the fire stacks.
Some may advice to use Obsidian arrows as the total damage of those is higher as that of fire arrows, but personally I found fire arrows the better ammo.
If you use the Draugr Fang, you will have some poison dmg as well, however, that one doesn't stack, so poison arrows are quite useless as the DoT counter starts at zero each time you hit her.
However, the poison from the bow does a little DoT, so in general it's the best bow for the fight.
In case she lands, silver sword works well enough due to its high dmg. Frostner..... well...... using a weapon doing frost dmg vs a frost related boss. I think no explanation needed.
Spear and Atgeir may work too, but I've never tried those, so can't give you an opinion about those.
Btw, there's a nice wiki page with all info about her resistances and which tactics may work against her. 😉
Frostner is my main weapon dhould i spend time making a upgrading a silver sword just for the boss?
If you got an iron mace it may work too. After all, it's the best one to deal with the Golems.
Ill give it a quick go with not very much preparation and if i fail i will regroup and prepare more
Keep in mind that a boss won't despawn.
So if you want to make sure a next attempt succeeds, either prepare well now, or be prepared to find another location of her altar.
And fyi, you can mine out a small ditch around the bottom of the altar. Drop a campfire there and you got yourself a tiny shelter against one of her attacks, as well as a spot to heal up and get some (very small) rested bonus.
that silver sword can be used for next biomes boss (best weapon for him), the biome after that and the majority of enemies in the current final biome, so I'd say its always worth making a silver sword
Does anyone have a mod list that supplements Valheim Plus? Valheim Plus isnt updated afaik
They may know in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
That modor boss fight was surprisingly very easy…
thank you missed that channel when lookin lol
Should i move to plains or stay in the medows?
Why not both?
I think better make new base nearby yagluth. because you need farm a lot of flax and barley
for make thing easier "Liberate" Fuling camp
It's pretty trivial to have sub-bases everywhere on a run with portals enabled
Well i have it enabled that i can take metal through portals
But even if i stay in meadows i have to rebuild my whole base cause its not big enough
At all
Expand in other locations? Central portal hub and all
Well right now my base is in meadows and i have portals for bioms like a swamp portal and a snow one and a trader one
I'm just throwing out ideas right now. Currently on a no portal run, so I have outposts everywhere for refining and resupply
How can i protect a base in the plains?
Earthworks. Raise the ground
Last time i played i dug a moat but i dont really feel like spending a couple hours doing that
But yea i could raise the ground ig
How would i get in and out tho?
Dig a hole in the wall and put a gate?
Honestly, anything you have to jump over or onto
Also imma say it modor has best power
Not sure I agree. It's not bad, but Bonemass is pretty solid, as is Yagluth. Haven't been to ashlands yet, so no clue how that stacks up
I suck at building this base is gonna take forever
Im so disappointed with tasty mead
Tasty mead would be really sad if it could understand this
tasty mead is one of the best meads in game 🤨
Plains Island base
So, is there any way to turn off snapping completely?
With default settings just press shift while in the hammer, gets rid of snapping
Thank you
Grinding blood magic is fun, i got level up to 30 with only 7 death 🤤
I know this is kind of a crazy question, but I am trying to build with the Black Marble Cornice Corner and I am curious if anyone has already done the math on that angle. It is definitely steeper than 45, so I am planning on trying to support some from behind with Wood Iron, but I am trying to figure out the ratio of Wood Iron poles to Wood Iron Beams (45 degrees)
I struggle to find a good fit in my play style for it.
How are you incorporating it?
Would yall say a house that is 15x15 big enough
For just a house, yes. Any warehousing, no. For crafting, maybe, depending on height (so number of floors)
Its my perm base where ill do everything crafting storage sleep have my portals
But yes i plan on making multiple floors
Is making it all out of wood a bad idea?
Not big enough for storage, imo
Source: have almost 300 chests and am running out of room
sounds large enough to me. think i made like a 7x12? though i didn't have a back wall and occasionally would add up to said 7x12, or just put chests on the walls outside of my hut. my hut also was floating and had a spike wall around it
stuff for the outside ain't too shabby. worst that'll happen is water dmg, but otherwise you could try working on it and leave a wall open to see if you want extending. at least you can break the bases of the walls for everything to come crashing down if ya wanna restart
300?
Yes
What the fuck
Imma keep it 15x15 and just make it taller if i end up needing more room
Also is blackforest the best place to gather wood and is the elder power worth using does it make much of a diffrence
That’s just too many to be useful.
Everything has its place. Lots of chests for wood, and lots (now empty) for stone
This is just wrong. You do not EVER need 300 chests for anything even if you put stacks of each item in the game all the way filled in the chest
I mean, food alone is taking up 21 chests so far
there is no reason to have that much food lol
yes there is! you eat it.
is it all ashlands food? feasts???
Nope. Full chest of every type I've encountered so far. Backups in case I need to do body recovery runs
If Im thinking of the same piece that you are talking about it should be 60 degreed
You all probably think 30 chests of stone is overkill, too. I've now used it all up and need more, though
Wtf are you building lol?
A wall
Damn
regular wood i guess black forest can work. you would deal with other woods that'll clog ur inv like corewood or finewood though compared to meadows, but idk if black forest gives more wood per tree.
best way is to chop a tree and hope for a timbeerrrrrrr chain reaction lol
elder power can work well. does its niche pretty okay and not like ur doing anything else
Minimum 9m high and 4m wide around my entire meadows camp. Waiting to kill bonemass until I'm finished the wall
i usually just throw extra stone and wood into piles and litter my property with 'em
good luck witha wall buildin though
It's getting close. Almost down to just the aquatic sections, which will be a PITA
I gotta start building more everytime I play this game I just speed run through it. I always build like 1 house and then that's it
i usually build a house semi near a black forest and then gg
That was me last run. This run I'm building up an entire base, as well as outposts at key spots. After the wall, I'll do a stone tower by Bonemass
i hate moving to different spots once i settle
Unrelated note, anyone know the width of a longship mast?
I guess I should slow down considering I'm playing with a new player that has never played the game before lol
Sometimes you have no choice. I am running no portals, so I need the outposts. Resupply at them, as well as sort stuff for trips back to the warehouse
oof i could never
It has been super enjoyable so far, tbh. Forced to slow down and ensure everything is in order before venturing to a new area
Also, multiple sets of each tier of armor because fuck needing to sail 15 minutes or more to go recover a body
i want to ask, do blood magic barrier receive the benefits of armor when it was taking damage?
Armor, blocking and damage resistances/weaknesses do not affect the bubble
It always takes the full damage of the attack, including pickaxe and chop damage
alright thx for the enlightment, im still deciding on my melee build is it better on blood magic melee build with askvin armor which should be 1 eitr and 2 stamina food or classic melee build with 2 health food.
I normally use two stamina and one health. Do whatever fits your playstyle best, I can’t decide that.
Does a normal hit from a dagger deal both slash and pierce damage? Or is it only the special attack that does Pierce?
Primary and secondary attacks deal the same damage.
Many have thought that sword secondary dealt pierce damage or atgeir secondary slash damage but that is not the case either. Weapons deal only the damage types listed on their damage properties.
how do yall decide to do 2 stamina? I rock two eitr and 1 stamina and I still struggle. trying to do a mage build. should I pivot to melee build?
Protection staff makes you not needing that much HP while being mage. Moving around avoiding getting hit too much also helps a lot.
Remember you can jump attack to keep movement, it’s especially helpful when recasting your shield
Im making my base and am trynna put the door in but havw 8 walls on one side and only 7 on the other i dont want to extend it for other reason is there any way to do a doubke door or something
You can put two gates next to each other, but if you use the regular doors they will have a beam between them
Will they both open at the same time?
No
Ill just do the gates next to each other i dont really care if they both open or not
Just did not want the base to look uneven
Thanks
You can also use 1x1 wall pieces to help placing door in the middle.
Oh yea i could
One more thing how do yall lay out your crafting station with all there upgrades you have to place imma need like seperate rooms for each station
Upgrades can be placed outside the base too. Also they can be hidden under the floor by digging a small pit under. They just need to be close enough.
If you put them outside you have weird boxes on the sides of your base
What boxes do you mean?
Like if you put upgrade on the outside of your base they will take damage over time if not covers
Afaik the upgrades don't take damage from rain. And rain damages structures only until 50% hp.
Oh
Do you know how i can support the floor for the second floor without having pillars all over my 1st floor room?
If digging only small pit under the floor to hide some upgrades you don't need supporting, at least I haven't. But if needed, you could use corewood for support.
No like im making a second floor on my base but the floors are red so they need some supports i just dont want pillars all over the place i have to walk around
100% hidden under the floor or behind false walls
You could place corewood to the edges of your base and some horizontal ones to support the 2nd floor.
Like core wood pillars snapped into the floor on the walls and then horizontal across the bottom of the second floor foundations?
Yup, or you could do a grid of wood iron beams in a way that looks nice
So my second floor is 3 walls up so the 4 meter pillar is to short and if i place to 4m together then they dont sit right and look weird?
You could use top snap point to place the corewood from top to bottom with 4m pillars.
Can i dm one of you a pic
Hold up thats sounds weird asf like of my building to see if im understanding right
You could post a screenshot of your building to either https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512, https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202303747053846608 or https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202310893757530142 if you need help.
Now going to challenge Yagluth with frost arrows in my bow challenge run...
gl
After about 180ish arrows he is now defeated.
is valheim really fun with friends community and group?
I find it fun both alone and with friends you trust.
It's always funny when people ask for absolutely and completely subjective opinions as if there was going to be a single universal answer...
Hi all! Where can I write my wishes and ideas for the game?
did anyone lose worlds and characters today aswell?
It was caused by steam cloud bug and should be fixed now. Try restarting the game.
If restarting the game doesn’t work for you, it didn’t for me, restart steam completely
yes
Hello everyone,
has anyone a seed where all three traders close together?
SctgfkTgdf This is my current world seed, all three can be found on a small-ish island not too far apart
Trying to learn mage is really making my running skill suffer… was so close to 80 now back to 71
I think I’m gonna combine my stone pillar mining efforts with learning mage mechanics in the plains for now until I’m more comfortable with it before moving onto mistlands and Ashland’s
What is the main problem for you while being mage?
Right now it’s that I used all my eitr for the embla set and only have a fracture and wild staff, waiting for eitr potions to brew up too
once I have the prot staff it should be better I just need to practice it and dying is making th process rather painful
I’m sure it’ll click eventually it’s just I have like 500 hours in melee combat and like 2 in mage lol
u have fracture staff but not prot?? m8 ive never even used fracture staff
actually lemme go craft and try it now
I waited until after fader to try my hand at mage and those were the only 2 staffs i could craft for the time being until I get more eitr
Movement and mobility are keys for surviving as mage. Ratatosk and Lightfoot meads help with that. You can jump cast and even cast protection shield while on air.
I heard it’s good for levelling elemental skill so that’s another reason I’m focusing on using it atm
wtf this staff sucks, like a worse staff of embers
fr?
the small fireballs that fall off dont even hit anything
It seems to do okay damage if you get a hit straight on the target, I don’t have an embers for reference but it takes like 2-3 attacks to take out a charred arche
yea embers is a lot better
It's not ideal for AoE but can deal better single target damage against targets that can take all the cluster hits.
the small aoe on fracture is so bad
And fire damage against Ashlands mobs isn't the best after all, but I'm sure it will be good in DN.
ah u beat fader already? on the reverse boss run
Oh no lmao on my regular playthrough I killed him day 303 or so, on day 320 now
ok
My reverse boss run I’m taking my time deforesting the local forests and my next goal is to find a troll and acquire metal
I’ve got the entire forest around my boss altar destroyed other than birch trees and it’s looking really nice as well as the beginning of a boar farm
what gear and weap setup would uh ave for fader?
As in what am I planning to use for my boss in reverse world or what did I use on my regular world?
I’m thinking my best bet will be krom, can’t think of any other late game weapons worth using that I’ll be able to acquire without moder defeated
can you get black forge? i thought u need blast furnace or something and need to kill moder
ah no u can get it
I’m pretty sure you can get it, you only need black marble Yggdrasil wood and black cores
i was thinking about refined eitr but ya u dont need that
black cores are gonna be a pain in the ass tho lol
just use poison bombsd and stagbreaker and carefully go through it
id be more annoying with trying to get ygg wood
and u can get black marble from just smashing stairs up to infested mines or whatever
like for ygg wood u gotta find a soldier i think and those are pretty rare
idk if seeker is enough
Yeah I’m hoping to find an area with both black marble and Yggdrasil wood and seeker soldier
i was trying to do a similar thing, if u remember when i speedran to get magic staves, and it was too annoying to find soldiers for ygg wood so i just killed moder and made black metal axe
Afternoon gjall.
Someone have tips to boost fps for bad pc?
you having problems everywhere, or mostly base/particular spots?
Like i have 50 fps everwhere and 40_30 in base.
And the graphic
hmmmm, you might just be struggling with the minimum's then if it's mostly across board--you probably already lowered graphic settings to as least demanding as possible in setting menu but if not I'd start there, beyond that there might not be much you can do on your hardware
for what it's worth I've heard that the lighting sources (torches etc.) cause the most lag so you could try being very sparing with them
np
is there any splitscreen for valheim?
No, multiplayer is online only
sobbinggg lol
really hoping it was splitscreen compatable since i wanna play with my partner on my xbox
Couch co-op would be nice feature
id love it so so so much cuz me and my partner wanna play together but would rather be able to snuggle up and couch co-op than using the pc and xbox seperately
You guys can always switch controllers after day reset😃
i got loads of couch coop games downloaded
i love them so much i remember playing pvz garden warfare with my dad as a kid
one of my best memories
My favorite couch coop games are on the switch
Binding of Isaac is really fun. Gungeon and Broforce are also good games
valheim with couch co-op would be so fun
Cuz its a game that is so enjoyable playing with a friend
and being able to do it on one device so if you cant afford to buy the game anotehr time u get that experience
Agreed!
can bronze axe chop birch trees?
yes
ty
can also cut down oak trees
Guys how many items can be on the ground before they begin despawning? I'm wondering how long I can sit AFK at my surtling farm
They don't despawn on number.
After a certain amount they will start auto-stacking themselves and they only despawn after a timer when outside of a workbench radius.
Ah I see, do you know how long that timer is?
Couple of in-game days.
is there a point in eating 3 magic foods? it doesnt make ut regen any better than 2 does it?
Eitr Regen isn’t affected by foods afaik
Only potions. Rested buff and armor
It does mean you can use more magic attacks in succession though
2 in game days iirc
the main problem would be, at least in my experimentation, it seems like even surtling spawns are blocked by the same effect that you need (player base) to prevent despawning, so you couldn't just endlessly let them collect, at least not without some ingenious way to move the drops into the radius of a workbench or whatever whilst keeping the surtling spawning area OUT of it
I don't see this as a problem 🤷♂️
You would have more eitr with 3 eitr foods but less other stats for survivability. 2 eitr foods should be enough for full mageing around.
If you have unlocked Mistlands feast it provides 65 to both HP and stamina plus additional 33 eitr, which is good for eitr users for 3rd food.
I have never had player base change spawns from spawners, is that recent?
It's always stopped them.
I've only ever been able to stop them with player built structures, not merely the base radius
oh it's definitely not a problem, just makes it probably more trouble than worth to try to AFK up a massive amount
Huh? What do you think player base means?
I would be happy if all afk farms were removed from the game, but I know it isn't possible because people will always spend a lot of effort figuring out how to be lazy 😄
i don't know what you mean by 'base radius' by "player base" what I mean is the invisible radius 'effect' around those objects that block spawn
cannot remember where I read it--probs wiki--but some material referred to that effect as 'player base'
If I build floors over a Greydwarf spawner, that's build pieces. If I put a Workbench with 20 radius spawn prevention ring around it that stops despawn, that's 'Player Base'
Yes, but spawners you can destroy function differently than surtling spawners
In my experience, Spawners aren't influenced by Player Base
You just said they were. And of course they are.
i actually don't know if it works the same for greydwarf spawners--sometimes weirdly things you'd think it would work on the same don't--but in any case the spawners for greydwarves you can stop by putting a ROOF over them
it's weird
I don't think that's what I said, I think I said the same thing each time
Spawners you can destroy, body piles, gd nests, evil bone piles, will not stop spawning even while in the radius of player base structures, but surtling spawners will stop their spawns.
Well that's not right.
Yeah, no idea why it works like that, but it Is what it Is.
@merry pebble i think you're on to something with the difference being an invisible special point/POI based spawn VERSUS a (destroyable) structure based spawn
Oh i tested this.
We call them physical spawners.
Bit unintentionaly but still.
it might very well be intentional even, since one you the player have control by destroying its source (the physical spawner), the other you'd have no control or ability to suppress whatsoever, absent being able to use the usual player base objects to (or having a designated substitute alternative added in)
I agree that it could be intentional. Fire Geysers being indestructible makes them very unique among physical spawners. I do think of 'spawn point' more like the area above tar pits that usually respawn 2 Growths and that seems to behave very differently from the Fire Geysers (aside from being blocked by Player Base)
i also thought of the tar pits as a comparable example--to be honest, the surtlings may very well always spawn in the same points too, it may literally be an identical 'system' just adapted for different poi and monsters--I've never watched close enough to see if they're popping up in the same spot each time, and they're fast little buggers and start moving around right away IME
In my world the surtlings stopped spawning after i placed a crafting table nearby
Yea that'll happen
I (thankfully) haven't experienced the Tar Pits respawning as quickly as the Geysers when both are unblocked
Yes they spawn at exactly the same spot everytime, you can build a small chamber around that spawn to build a farm if you chain multiple pits together with portals
Every hour 2 growth spawn in 2 separate locations in the pit
I dont know the specifics about the surtling spawners but i noticed they start spawning immidiatly once you get close, and i asume once your close it just spawns every few minutes
Hey question, is there mods for Valheim that we can put on Server side and the clients connecting to the server dont need the MOD installed on their PCs?
i saw a YT video of someone doing that--it was clever, and hilarious
Yeah, but im probably not building that, finding the exact spawns seems extremely time consuming
yeah they seem to spawn REAL quick repeatedly, I think it's like 5 real mintues or something
right, me neither--it's more than efficient enough the other ways, like just finding new pits to drain, IMO
I think even less, I would guess around 60 to 90 seconds
surtlings are special only because it's just so easy to turn their natural spawns into killing fields for them, and collect the very useful drops
We have 3 close to eachother, we build little pools around them (they still spawn on player buildings) and we can just afk in the middle for free coal
Yeah, i probably build a greydwarf farm soon with pufferfishes
Way harder to optain
even greydwarf farm is more for the fun of building it IMO, or practicing up skills if you wanna do that (also not necessary)--like you PROBABLY could gather up as much of their drops just killing them, chopping trees, etc. (the usual ways) than building the farm or waiting for the spawns to come in and get killed, but I still build them for fun lol
also, I think you can do this with one of the standing braziers that MAYBE (don't do it myself so not sure) unlocks earlier than pufferfish likely would
I just love the idea of afk farms 😂
i think maybe wolves too, if you set it up right (biting at the ankles or somethign)
me too lol, big Minecraft enjoyer (even though, not really very similar to Valheim at all)
In the tutorial i saw he said they dont spawn on player buildings
Its vastly different but can very well be compared to eachother
indeed
The growth spawns at tarpits and surtling spawns at geysirs are pretty much the same tho, different timer and number of spawned mobs but its the same exact principle
Fair enough, Surtlings rate and limit remind me more of the other physical spawners, but maybe I am comparing the wrong things
I wish this game wasn't boring
wrong channel
Do surtlings also have the exact same spawn point every time?
Valheim chat? Nah, I'm pretty sure this is the right place.
3 around a geysir, yes
hi guys btw, how you all doing?
not bad, ty for aksing, hope you're well 🙂
I'm doing good
yeah,thx, finally friday evening 🙂
Mmmh good to know, i might want to improve my pool then
Hi all! Who is from what country here?
no harm to answer that i think, I m from Czechia
Guys where can i post my Medal clips? i have a few clips i wanna sahre with the community
Also from Czechia 🙂
i'm in hell
If they are valheim related then #memes-and-clips 🙂
Norway
beat me too it lol
thanks boss
🇫🇮
ill be posting very soon
anyone still running valheim on nvidia rtx 3060?
Nope, AMD here
trying to figure out what can i upgrade to from gtx without need to buy new pc, curent fps sucks, dont even know ho i managed to play with it so long
Yeah, cant really help you there, i got mine pc passed down from my brother 😅 and recently i learned that i know even less about the pc building than i though i did xD (and it was not much mind you)
Into Mistlands I go. Let's see how I fare with light armored bow person. 🫡
Be carefull not to get swarmed 😄 that would be the biggest danger i imagine
Are you able to build inside of caves/burial chambers?
Only things that dont require workbench iirc
So I'm able to sleep in them?
Bed requires a workbench
Yeah, I try not to get. This is my bow challenge run where I try to stay deathless. 😅
Although I died more during the PTB Ashlands than during the time Mistlands has been out.
They dont
Heh, probably same but my memory is not that great 😄
Troll caves seem like the perfect home now imo
You cant build most of stuff there...

yeah, the first PTB was a challenge- of patience 😄
I played on laptop with gtx1660Ti few months ago, and the FPS were decent (>60) at all times
(Some drops were obviously noticeable but only around big player built structures 🤔)
Main causes of deaths in Mistlands: getting swarmed in mine, unprepareness against 2 star Gjall, ice mage dvergr...
Meh, star mage dvergr, all of them are pain in da butt when angered 😄
Now I have rtx 4060 and I can't rly see much difference (yeah it might have a bit better looks and FPS are obviously higher, but it's just the bigger buildings that are not restricting me anymore)
Ice mages are the worst tho. 😅
The CPU is probably bit more important than GPU 🤔
Edit: Tho if it is on 100%...
I dislike fire mages more, since all attacks are AOE pretty much
not bad, but i have desktop. 1650 and when i m in ash and on max graphic settings, the fps is around 20 when in the charred fortress home and its on single player, when i m on multiplaer server, its even worse and GPU runs at 100% and i dont need to heet my home anymore
idk, i m not pc expert either, but cpu runs lower than 50% capacity, so i would say its not issue
Yeah, makes sense 😄
I was saying that because valheim is generally way more CPU hungry 🙂
What's the difference between GPU and CPU
G.

CPU is processor, GPU is graphics card.
||(But Derek is indeed correct 😄 )||
I know nothing about PCs
you are not alone, dont worry 😄
Technically correct, the best kind of correct. 👌
Me pretty much neither 🙂 just some VERY basic stuff
i had to watch video to know what i m talking about 😄
That's wierd... That my laptop was handling it better... I can't tell if I had max settings tho... I think I had max render but graphics... Can't tell
yeah, i usually run max render and rest quite down, so its ok (35 fps on same spot , i just feel like i want some improvement in performance
Oh... And the wisplight... - that was boxing my frames pretty hard there too
hmm, havent tested it, i barely use wisp notlight
All dynamic light sources will have an effect.
Yes that is indeed quite obvious. Just mentioned that as that was what was... Bringing my attention as even in Ashlands the performance was pretty decent, a bit worse that anywhere else but still totally playable
No prob, stay strong. Stab his ass on hard combat now, you can do it!
Oh it doesn't show here anymore... Scam xd
its for good reason
Does the bloodstone effect increase the chop damage on berserker axes or only their slash dmg?
Can you guys give me motivation to play valheim again? please
Well, just hit me up before u suggest to nerf the mysterious "fire sword guardian" - I'm sure it's not a spoiler as u know Ur looking for the fire sword so...
play it different way than you did before, only limitation is your imagination
Sounds like my experience trying to get a fenring trophy
i will try it out
thx
np 😉
I thinks it's something like 1% chance (might be wrong?)
K, Wiki says it's 5%...
Hmmm but ye those are rare I killed a lot of them too and didn't get the trophy on every world 🤷
yeah, i think 5% is least trophy drop
There was one with 1% I think 🤔
Or at least I think I heard some bs like that in the internet - so take it with a grain of salt
sometimes it feels that way and also with bad luck 😄
i learnt recently that some of the trophies i would never expect looks pretty sick on item stand, like gorwth trophy for example
Damn my wooden arrow ratio per one hare will be around 20ish. Even with over 80 bow skill lol.
The lowest should be 5 i think... But i would have to check.
Just rng roll, keep slaying xd
Correct
Arriving to Mistlands in new playthrough feels quite satisfying still.
💯
arriving in ashlands is also fun
plains feel like nothing special
Totally! The soundtrack for sailing into Ashlands is so good I didn't expect that the first time.
Mistlands still remain as my favorite biome (until DN then let's see again).
when u aim at the big mineral block, it should say copper
if it doesnt, then its just stone. they look similar
i am 100% sure its copper
Copper nodes don’t guarantee copper you have a chance to get rocks chance to get copper
ohh
They’re a good way to get building resources later as you need a lot of copper/bronze and you need a lot of rocks
Nah it’s intentional only tin and flametal drop just their metal
btw unrelated, sailing is goated. i just took a huge sailing trip around the world to get back to my base and feels like ive been on a huge adventure or something
Did you get attacked by any serpents on your voyage
nights or storms, that's when they are
in yalls opinion wheres the best place to build (other then the medows)
Plains
Yeah, mostly because ground there is already pretty flat + you can farm most of stuff in game 🙂
plains
Meadows.
barley & flax growable, lox raid defenders, fuling black metal home delivery
Yup, Derek.
The best location to build a base other than the Meadows is the meadows.
clear visible environment
It’s a different meadows

Because it has necks
❤️
There’s no neck ponds in plains
So if someone accidentally writes of having a base in the planes, you tell them we don't have flying mounts in this game?
Well we don't, but I don't see how that would be relevant. They're asking about bases. And I still think Meadows is the best place for your main base. I don't like any of the others for that purpose, though obviously I'll have a few small farm/outposts in other biomes.
i thought about building my actual base in the medows its just ive been there for my whole playthrough so i wanted to change it up
I somewhat agree but only if the meadows is surrounded by all the useful biomes, starter island meadows sucks in that regard
Location wise I prefer to be to the west or east and based up somewhere along the edge of where mistlands begin to spawn
A castle in the mountains could be a nice change of scenery, I’m currently working on one myself
how are you doing it are you just changing the terrain then building or are you just doing it on the side of the mountain
What do you dislike about the plains for main base ?
I’ve found a nice spot in the centre of the mountain where it goes down low enough that the fir trees are green and it’s like a bowl shape so I’ve cleared the area of the Little Rock’s and all the trees and I’m building with the terrain for the most part, I’ve kept a lot of the huge rocks to use for structural support and try to use flatten and raise terrain as minimally as possible
thats actually really cool ngl
Personally I think builds that are integrated into the world and go with the lay of the land look a lot nicer so that’s the vibe I’m going for
at first i thought about building high in the mountain but u was thinking its going to be a pain to get metals up there
Yeah that was also a worry of mine, I’ve stuck to coastal bases until Ashland’s where I can now just teleport ores up there
meadows best for starting out, then make a plains base once u get to plains and move all ur stuff, or just make a base at plains from the beginning 🤨
plains best biome
(we need a happy version of this emoji!!)
has anyone built a base in the ocean before?
I'm not sure how that would be possible. You can do it on small islands but not in the ocean itself.
Thorin not too long ago showcased his wip base in the ocean it was a completely terraformed island or something it looked really dope
green spear or green axes?
Axes
TRUE
TRUE
Wasn't me.
The base I'm occasionally posting the screenshots of is a plains island, bordering swamp at one side and the ocean at the other one.
But I do know there's a player who've found a really small meadows in the ocean and used that to build a base which is mostly build above the water.
green spear is cooler imo
I saw some crazy builder did an ocean bridge and created air pockets under the ocean to place supports, not sure how feasible it actually is but it's probably possible albeit a huge pain
Ah I see, do you have any progress pics on the base since the last few?
air pockets under the ocean? u can do that?
and u can go there?
Apparently if you use 45 degree beams with platform it can make an air pocket, kinda pain to build but that was the explanation I saw for getting the supports all the way to the ocean bed, along with iron diagonals. Am I allowed to post reddit links in here? I have the original post
Well it's on the main page for r Valheim anyway, posted about 6 hrs ago, look pretty neat
Link my work as long as you make sure you don't embed it.
Primal axes are one of my favorite weapons. Fast hits help to keep bigger enemies immobilized longer.
the spear isnt faster?
it is
Faster than dual axes???
TIL there's an elemental ashland spear
There are elemental versions for most ashlands weapons 🙂
Wait till ashlands 😉
fair enough. are turnips rare btw i cant find any in the swamps. then again with bone mass chasing me i might be missing them
Well... Actually you could count Frostner as an elemental weapon.
All flametal weapons have three gem versions
Why are you fighting bonemass without finding turnips?
then himminafl and mistwalker r elemental & jotun bane as well + whatever other weps
ehehe i uh never really thought about alot of the stuff i needed
I didn't even know Ashland's had a spear 🤣
Tbh, all ashlands weapons are 😄
🫡
Cant wait to see what you guys cook up in deep north 😏
Overall I think Ashlands weapons look the most bad ass 👀
New food, most likely. 😉
That is undoubtedly correct 😄
And just in case you wonder what they're brewing:
Mead. 😜
look at all of you guessing away
Nice, isn't it?
Unless you want us to come up with the 749th suggestion to add polar bears to the DN?
I mean, you just have to ask and it'll be done. 👼
Blood infused slayer is so peak
no one ever thinks outside the box
like a polar-mosquito-deer-elk-moose-badger
no no. just take a plain old booring IRL animal
._.
We need an octopus with the head of gorilla and the neck of a giraffe 🙂
now we're talking
I think lox are my favorite version of a valheim twist of an animal
I'd be happy enough if you added a sabretooth tiger.
and now we are back again 😦
- didn't exist in scandinavia
- didn't exist in viking age
- didn't exist in viking folklore
._.
in before penguin suggestion
But big cat 😦
Big cats goes to big heaven
Penguins! 😄
So what we get is a goat.
Because that did exist in scandinavia, did exist in the viking age and most likely could exist in viking folklore.
can't hear that without thinking on cumberbatch
Have you been to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness yet?

Meh, best killing machines, they should go with us to Valheim and all Forsaken would be dealt with within a week 😄
Penwings? 😄
hell yes
As for tigers, it's likely the Vangarian Guards did see them when serving in Constantinople.
I should rename someone to Penwing
Badass base , I’m new , this made my day
Portals
a 3rd one?
Vikings most likely didn't have a 6 story bug queen either. Nor did Scandinavia.
it's a metaphor
Reference to the one living in that country where Vikings looted the first monastery? 😉
shopping in IKEA ||just kidding||
Oh my, are there gonna be IKEAs in DN?
||JUST KIDDINGH||
I know i know 😉
Brainrot has ruined the abbreviation DN for me
I found a Mistlands patch conjoined to a Plains and decided to settle there and now everything I need is in that base after my Stone Portal is up
Abbrieviate Deez Nutz
Show me the window actually
just beat bonemass while getting tag teamed by an abomination. it is a good day
Oh snap you made that? Hats off dude that was a badass bridge
Should have just lured the Abom to a Surtling pit first then re engaged Bonemass

this i wish i knew
so where to next after bonemass and the swamp. im guessing the plains
Mountains
ah shit here we go again
Remember to get Frost Res
I started a new playthrough with no map, no portals and triple resource rate... It's like a whole other game 😄
You can use Frost Res pots for your first few trips
oh shoot you right
Then get a Wolf Trophy and make a Wolf Cape
One of the only 2 capes I gave up my Deer Hide Cape for
They are fairly doable, just watch out for golems (and hope you don't get hunted early on)
Yea getting hunted is pretty rough
hunted
Basically 10 wolves will chase you down
Infinite wolves ❤️
Kill one and another spawns xD
Raids in this game feel so ass
oh come on
Don't worry bro, the wolf raid can happen anywhere, not just your base
It happened to me in Mistlands once, fun experience
If you do get that one, run like hell and find a big rock to jump on top of, then use your bow to snipe the wolves below
noted
And don't kill Wolves till the timer runs out unless you wanna farm Meat
Cuz you're just wasting arrows otherwise
Arrows for fur and meat, not bad of a trade
No map or portals to rely on -> way more in touch with the surroundings, hoping to not get lost
Triple resource rate -> balance out difficulty and reduce the grind (kinda needed w/h portals imo)
10/10 great game mode so far
is there a way to find on wiki what items each fish can drop?
Fish mostly just... drop themselves, ig? https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Fish
oh, good to know. i wanted to do some weird stuff, but guess i ll need to find myself
anyone wanna play?
Anyone wanna play
ill play just need to finish some stuff
goahhhdayum
just finished building a new PC and all my bases and Ashlands that were getting like 30-50FPS on myten year old rig are getting 120+ fps with max settings
I didn't know ashlands had this many frames
thats what i m trying to get nowadays, what is your new pc set and what was the old?
Every fish has a random chance of a biome specific resource drop.
Old pc was 10 years old with a GTX 980, an i7-4770k and 16GB of DDR3 RAM lol, current build is a 9800X3D (no OC) RTX 4070S (no OC) and 6000MHz DDR5 CL30 RAM with EXPO enabled
what is EXPO?
Overclocking stuff, at least acording to google 😄
EXPO is AMD's version of overclocking software for RAM (XMP is intel's version)
it's basically one-click to make sure you're getting the maximum advertised clock out of your ram
like with 6000MHz DDR5 it'll often only run at 4800MHz without XMP or EXPO enabled, but the full 6000MHz with it enabled
You can manually overclock ram but a lot of modern BIOS include options that do a lot of overclocking for you
thats good to know, thx
Today Morrigaine ascended to Valheim. She's going to try to go from zero to hero and build an Ashlands castle on hard mode with no mods. I've got 2k hours in this game, so that should be enough...right? 👀
ya u'll crush
My friends are able to repair and craft anywhere i'm the server host. is it a bug or are they cheating
is there a way i can disable it?
you can talk to your friends and ask kindly
if there's a way through modding to prevent them using those mods, I wouldn't know it
Valheim is a very "client authoritive" application - it is designed for single player or Coop with friends. i.e. its not like PvP etc.
This means people can do lots of things via their client, including running local mods etc - and there is nothing you can do - apart from talking to them
is there a way for me to access another person's inventory? to know if they are hiding something?
That itself is cheating, really, so cheating to catch a cheater seems the wrong approach.
hello guys is valheim good singleplayer? thank you
Oh yes 😄
what rates do u recommend
The world modifiers?
yes
Everything on normal first, then you can change it whenever you want if it will not fit you 🙂
If you don't like grinding, start with the drop modifier set to 1,5.
It'll generate enough materials to get through most of the game; although I also advise to turn it off by the time you reach Ashlands. Perhaps even earlier, depending whether you like it or not.
nvm they died they all had cheatswords and maxed foods
Start as the devs intended with settings on defaults and discover the world for the first time - its such a pleasure! Once you know whats coming, you can make some quality of life adjustments, but I really do think default is the best place ot start.
That's just not a fun way to play, even if everyone has the same. What's the point in multiplayer? If you are just wanting to build in single player, sure, why not...but for a playthrough it just ruins it.
true. its ok though cuz we caught them
they have been forever shamed and marked as cheaters
Someone want to play? I am German and not very experienced
You could try search from https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
How far are you in the game? 👀
On horses specifically, irongate prefers to add original creatures. Also, horses wouldn’t really make sense in Valheim; lots of terrain that isn’t compatible with horses, lots of monsters that would quickly kill them, and of course there’s a lot of ocean.
Gotcha, there’s a lot of game to see 😁 you’ll get access to more options as you progress.
Rolling grants immunity to almost all enemy attacks. It’s very useful against trolls because their large attack hitboxes are difficult to dodge in other ways.
i am getting better , especially now with the bronze sowrd.
why does ancient armor drop copper too? did they mean rust?
Some alloy unknown to us maybe 🙂
why does it seperate so easily?
this is impossible
thats not how copper iron alloys work
Oh my, impossible things in my game where i play as a dead viking killing demons and undead things scavenging remains of giants and their armor? Nooooo....
Also, you get copper scrap and iron scrap, those could be pieces that have just higher copper or iron content which you then still have to refine in smelter, so no, they do not seperate so easily even if we go after "realism" 🙂
Demons? 👀
Ashlands things 😄
By the way, how’s your playthrough going Asatru?
I am in ashlands 😄
It drops copper and iron so you don't have to go back to previous biomes for those.
Even though going back to previous biomes for stuff is good imo.
Got there today
They technically belong to the demon faction.
Oh wow! Last I remember you were searching for Yag- good stuff!
That is why i said "demons" yes. 🙂
Yeah xD the progress got somewhat fast
but ur supposed to melt it down first to seperate the iron from the copper
To make that job easier you first make 2 piles, pieces with more copper and pieces with more iron
Thus copper and iron scraps
Yes, but we can teleport.
So physics isn't real in this realm.
We are currently searching for the Queen vegvisir, having a hard time finding it haha but honestly it’s a good problem to have. I’ve been really trying to figure out this Eitr stuff. I’ve been getting better though!
but its an alloy. u cant. its one metal
I found 3 in one mine xD and it was pretty close to that mine
Yes, but we can teleport.
So physics isn't real in this realm.
Wait what’s the conversation? 🤔 we don’t really know the composition of the ancient armor, the contents could simply be iron and copper but not necessarily an alloy, right?
It doesent need to be homogenous, did you ever see how katanas are made traditionaly? They make a steel billet in a furnace (i think called tatara?) and there they make an alloy of iron and carbon, called steel. they then smash the billet and select pieces with higher or lower carbon content for different parts of the blade. Even when something is an alloy it doesent mean it has to be uniform 🙂
"How can sword drop both iron and copper?"
Ahhh gotcha. Hmm I mean, just video game stuff really 🤔
Exactly.
in fact, most carbon alloys arent uniform
even if you dont mix different types
steel is a field of science on its own tbh
We try for them to be but its kinda difficult 🙂 and sometimes we intentionaly dont want them to be
we usually dont want it to be uniform tbh
Tell that to the tree.
getting the structure right is a pain in the ass tho
Fortunately this is a video game and it's all irrelevant
also traditional japanese steel is literally cope
True that 🙂 also it is probably not apropriate topic for this channel so i will stop 😄
asa matter of fact every metal product humanity did before like 1900 is an alloy
We need to be asking the more important questions… why were the Jotunn forging armaments, and where did they make them? 🤔
And why did they stab each other with them?
It is interesting to think about how many players hate the mist and the seekers. But size comparison-wise, to the Jotuns, it was basically morning dew in the grass with insects.
We are just tiny so both effects are more dramatic to us. 😁
That’s actually a really good point, I didn’t even think about that!
Wonder if the Mistlands were still the Mistlands as we know it during their time on Valheim 🤔
Or heck, I wonder what Valheim was like during the Jotunns time?
wats the rhino mount like
||asksvin|| but in english
Asksvin.
No.
Not a rhino.
Hmmm, do we have a relative of the person who called the feather cape the Fenris cape, perhaps?
"Ash swine/pig" would be the direct translation of Asksvin (from Swedish).
If you're already wearing the feather cape, will putting on the root harkness make you take even more fire damage? Or no, because feather cape already has very weak?
With the root harnesk you'll take less damage
The modifier that gives you the smallest amount of damage is what's used, so if you have barley wine you'll be resistant
My friends and I really want to play Valheim together, but unfortunately, one of my friends—a girl—can't afford the game at its current price on Steam. Could you let us know when the next discount or sale for Valheim will be available? This would really help her get the game and allow us all to play together.
You don’t even need to use the barley wine at all times, just keep a few potions on you when there are fire enemies around
Likely spring sale
lmao "- a girl-"
Ignoring barley mead, I thought there would be no change because the cape's very weak modifier would take priority over the harnesk's weak
It was on discount a few days ago, I'm sure if u go on a website like g2a it will still be on sale over there
Nvm found an identical example on wiki.
Root mask (fire weak) with Tarred (fire very weak) results in very weak.
So having the cape on makes you take the max amount of fire dmg. Adding harnesk won't change anything.
-Stacking fire resistance does not make you able to swim on lava like minecraft.
Lmao who added that and why did it have to be said
Because fire resistance doesn't affect to the damage you take from lava (or the spicy water). Heat resistance does, however.
The selected effect is in the order of: Very Resistant > Resistant > Immunity > Very Weak > Weak > Normal
Why doesn't immunity always take priority
Serpent (fire immune) with Wet (fire resist) results in resist.
This makes no sense, it should still be immune
Heat resistance is about as useful as lightning resistant armor
Very strange they decided to notate that specifically lol
It's an invitation to possible white knights to come for the rescue and buy the game to her.
Tbh that’s the first thing that came to my mind too
So unfortunately me --a grown ass man— can’t afford a new pc. So if anyone wants to help out, just let me know 👌
why did my ashlands portal drop everying but the fine wood when it was destroyed?
or did it gltich out somewhere
If it was destroyed by fire then it turned the finewood into coal.
That's why protection is important.
Always have protection 😏
that's a little harsh. at least they're only asking for when the next discount is and not begging for a copy. I remember being young and poor -- $20 isn't always that easy to come by
(not that I disagree that a game is more of a luxury that you shouldn't really be playing if you can't afford basic necessities)
Well this is a wild assumption 😄
pathetic, I just asked about a discount for my friend who is still young and doesn't work and has no money and can't afford to spend 20 dolar. Not everyone is born into a rich family like you and their parents provide everything for them 🙂
....you seem to care a lot about this
Let it be 😄 trolls will not be around for long here
don't take the bait
Say Blue I think the point's been made eh?
for a girl who is young and does not participate in life, there is a lot. You're behaving like a Russian troll. Everyone was young once and everyone lived on pocket money.
I won't reply to such trolls anymore.
Let them be 🙂 mods will sort it out soon if he will continue
this is the way
$20 is life changing money in 3rd world countries, its the difference between being able to afford food vs not for the week. However most people assume that everyone lives in America or the UK and everyones rich
ok, I blocked messages from this troll from Russia and I can't see what he is writing. I only wrote on behalf of my younger friend who wanted to play with us but can't.
who from russia?
the one who started attacking me because I asked when the sale on Steam would be
aka Blue
yes
user left 🤔
PFFT
🤣
I just slapped on a few "now you be quiet" roles
🤣
BIG shout out to the cool kids in chat who poked modmail
I don't think its necessarily a russian troll -- their end goal isn't to get immediately banned
just a run-of-the-mill awful person
Meh, troll is a troll, doesent matter from where 🙂
You're right
or rude people will always be rude
next steam sale. high chance of valheim being on sale aswell
I don't know exactly when it is. but we usually always say yes to sales 😄
If i have a high enough ceiling do i need to worry about a chimny
<-- Valheim developer btw
And most of the time its a 50% sale 🙂
Technically no
always 50%
How high
actually yes 🤔
"enough"
Well wasnt always, but lately (past year or two at least i would say), yes.
if you have like 10+ meter or something. the smoke will just stick up there 😄
yeah .there are "rules" 😦
I thought smoke despawned
I mean I guess I've never tried it but that's what I heard
Oh? Like that you cant give that high of a sale for newly released/EA released game?
yeah, but if it's high enough you don't have to worry about it -- just let it billow and beocme indoor clouds essentially
My second floor is three walls up will camfires still smoke me out without a chimney
something like that
Definetly
personally. I make a chimney so the smoke is trapped, and then I make a upside box in the roof so all smoke have somewhere to stay
I like making a hood and just pumping it out the side myself -- then don't gotta worry about upstairs in my wizards tower that's like 4 or 5 stories tall
I just make basic longhouses and let the smoke pile up in the roof 😄
You build big box?
I build big box, I fill with crafting stations, I done. Back to fighting.
Big long box house
Well, i try to make it a bit fancy but basically you could say that 😄
Fancy big box. 💅
Indeed 😁
Honestly, thats basically what my portal hub is xD will put it in screenshots
Edit: Here #screenshots message 😄
Still gotta build my Eitr workshop 😅
Anybody ever made a star-shaped citadel? Yall know what I mean when I say that?
I haven’t made one, but I know what you mean
Well, tbh my buildings are usually always square/boxy, I usually don't try circles etc. I shared some pics of my survival guys' Grausten hall in here: #building-screenshots message
That looks amazing 👀
Thanks! I quess I like the details you can make with grausten pieces lol.
I had a circular farm 🤔
Yeah, still have yet do do a proper build with them 😄
I tested them during PTB when they looked different but now they look better. Replaced my PTB guys' old base with grausten pieces during the test.
is the mushroom eitr thing really worth throwing out a porridge?
that food is a downgrade
