gotta have a little abstraction.
What I wish that spear had is the ability to poke slightly upward or downward.
Too often was I getting munched on by a wolf and I wasnt able to fight back because of a cliff slope.
Or a hook from the side. So many ways to look at potential
inb4 "but its a brutal game"
for hammers, having it do heavy normal attacks and keep the slam as a secondary wouldve been cooler
Yes. Yes it is. Now let me poke from more than over the shoulder
Does anyone know if the bog witch can be generated in an old map, as long as I havent explored many of its possible swamp locations?
yes
Sorry, im just annoyed because whenever I complain about something I find annoying in this game, its always the same response
You're good Vinny. I know what you mean. Yes it's not our place to make the decisions. But speaking honestly shouldn't be gas lit either.
who would of thought theres toxic people in a chill viking game lol
yes
that would be so awesome
yes, but than the hammer lovers who knock enemies out with secondary attacks complain π
we don't really lose out on the slam because it became the secondary, basically just gives more ways to use the big hammer to smash things
You do because it would just become mace but bigger.
Uniqueness > repetitiveness
The sledge is meant to be used as a secondary weapon, not a main one
i really just want spear to be a directional weapon, the only one
makes it unique, otherwise there's no point in using it over atgeir once you hit bronze age
No point?
I could see atgeir and sledge used as a main for an aggro position
spear being throwable still doesn't make it the same as atgeir even with the proposed changes
plus that high poise break on it's spin is quite powerful
isn't that what the krom does anyways
sword but bigger
Fang spear has better dmg than iron atgeir
Yes, and it shouldn't. Another secondary would've been better
eh, there's more fun in more options when it comes to weapon choices
and I also would like a secondary move for the staves, and maybe more types of fist weapons later on
but in the end, i feel that the atgeir is generally better in anything else
mostly because of the reach and secondary
the spear doesn't really stick out to me at all
trying to lock in potential for these weapons sorta nips the bud for that
i wish they had mistlands atgeir or ashlands atgeir that was just pierce
the spear being great at close while having a mid range attack as an option made it my main weapon for a long time, despite the risk of losing it and the inability to pick it up again because you'll have to rely on auto-pick up and that can pose troubles like accidentally soaking u trash items on the ground to block it's slot in your inventory (looking at you resin and stones)
Do staff of the wild roots do more dmg on higher difficulty combat?
im gonna say no? leveling it increases the damage
Okay i just thought if they count as mobs
good afternoon fellow vikings
that pretty much what happens when you move to a different tier, that being mountains vs swamp, plus there's no mountains version of atgeir, so they really shouldn't be compared
No point?
would you happen to have a secondary in mind for its replacement?
i run the heimmanaflr thing which is a lightning atgeir the secondary attack is broken on atgeirs, and then i run the berserker axes and the mistwalker with a shield, and a bow of course
nice
atgeir gang
I run spear n shield all the way to Ashland. Then Mistwalker out shines. Note to self: run more swords early game..
i used a flint spear with troll armor till plains lol with wolf cape ofc
Secondary is useless against moder, in which case fang spear is better, and that's just counting the dmg, not attack speed.
And bosses are the most important fight of the biome
It's also very cheap to craft and upgrade
Exactly, if there was, then you would have zero reason to use the fang spear.
You just discovered the reason why weapon gaps exist
other than eikthyr i think moder is the easiest boss tho
Vertical overhead swing
Dual-wield Spear when? π
Bonemass is a gatekeeper
this guy gets it ^
Sword mainhand knife offhand when
climbing up mountains spear by spear. odin approves
Only if holding knife like a dagger.
Spear do trip when. Dual spears would be BRUTAL
I can't get past black forest
my first time playing i cheesed bonemass not gonna lie cause i didnt know meads existed
Bonemass is the best spear trainer.
so like opposite of the two-handed clubs? that's pretty funny i like that
I have a short question. I'm new and should I use Valheim using Vulkan or not?
what's wrong buster
i actually havent even beaten ashlands boss yet, but ive done like 6 play throughs of up too mistlands
i dont π€·ββοΈ
Too annoying. Goblins feel like Dark Souls 2 artificial difficulty. Throwing loads of mobs that are poorly designed.
This is one of those "if you have to ask, then no" questions.
If you don't know enough about what Vulkan is/does, don't click it.
ok thank you
what is vulkan?
its a graphics api
yeah fair enough. they do like running around strangely
wait till they make it to the actual goblins β οΈ
For 4-5 of them to be running at you with a shaman in the back, it's almost not worth progressing the game; if mob Ai is this bad in the beginning of the game.
brother they are scared of you but they want to protect there forest its not that deep
They're scared of fire, sure. But they're not acting scared throwing rocks.
darn those anti viking rocks
I don't remember criticizing rocks
i sure remember those rocks doing critical hits on me π
i got killed mid air by one before jumping down a hill
nice. was ur corpse ragdoll just tumbling down
There are critical hits in this game?
Weren't you just saying you couldn't get past black forest? Imagine if the mobs were coordinated in their attacks
you said it already, the fang spear is really cheap to upgrade, and you can still throw it
it's not the same as atgeir
no. i was just saying how sometimes i get domed by a good shot from a fuling inna 'xaggerated manner
Even if there was a silver atgeir or similar, the price would greatly compensate its usefulness vs fang spear
The trick with fulings is to get a medieval viking machine gun (probably a mod)
Just like bronze atgeir vs bronze spear or iron atgeir vs bark spear
i hate to say it but that would be a good counter for fulings
Its a good counter for many things
the best counter for fulings is atgeirs cant change my mind
That's frost staff
best counter is porcupine
the best counter for fulings is vomit sniper the ripper at them
I mean, yeah. That's why I brought up DS2. They aren't coordinated. It's just mob tactics.
not really, but i do love how far that mace sends their ragdoll away if you kill them with a charged attack while they're staggered
you launch greylings it's so hilarious
Also I just reached bow skill level 100
many trees died for this thing to be possible
See, THAT is your machine gun.
it works surprisingly bad against fulings
Frost Arrows go brrrr
well yeah sure, if I hit them, any arrows do fine
But its hard to hit some small target running around me
-# Skill issue.
π π
ur a skill issue
Subject needs to change your name to Scales | Skill Expressionist
Nah against fulings I just hit them with with sword
i'd be down π€·ββοΈ
Spears my beloved.
except two stars fulings. I dont even approach those things
yeet ooze bombs so they die from stink
they throw spears at you, you throw one back at em
I wish weapon skill affected durability loss
I rarely throw my spear π
you should throw em more
No.
show dominance against dem green goblins throwing pointy sticks at you
i love how everyone within a 200 mile radius gets mad at you for throwing your spear but if you hurl a giant fireball no one bats an eye #1202313396356128808things
Theres a point where I stopped using spear because everything I wanted a good weapon against was resistant to piercing
I feel like everything in the ashland and perhaps mistland is piercing resistant.
spears, atgeirs, bows, crossbows
even daggers are half pierce, and porcupine too
Mystlands is resist to all base damage?
seekers are resistant to anything physical
gjalls and their broods are weak to pierce iirc
Bows are unique in that I can easily rely on special arrows, and that they are the better ranged option between the two available choices.
I mean... gjall... they could be weak to slashing and blunt that it wouldnt change much
only the gjalls underbelly is weak to pierce
I checked the wiki. Yea. Spears have such good stagger against many mobs. Atgeir could nicely act as a secondary for some engagements
That's known as "Reverse card" or "No u" throw.
Shoot them in the tentacles.
yeah, thats very much their weak spot
not like you can get a hit on that spot with other physical attacks
magic is magic
speaking of weak spots, trolls, seeker warriors and gjalls are the only ones that have em, yeah?
yes, hope 1.0 goes more into depth on weak spots
"Skill expression target areas"
π
I actually like how this game isnt overly reliant on weak spots
Not every biome has every weapon.
the abyssal razor is swamp-tier in terms of stats and likelihood of when you have it
-# and considering that the black forest already has a knife
There's 11 non-magical weapon types.
The average is 7 options per biome.
expect swords.
Meadows.
im pretty sure every biome has a sword expect the meadows
anyone want to start a valheim world wit me
to be fair. like 4 weapons have something in meadows
Also Silver Sword is a very specific weapon.
So technically there is no general-purpose Mountain Sword.
either way. it still technically has a sword
Literally does, technically doesn't π
Magic is overpowered as fuck and not poor in any way.
fireball π£οΈ
π₯±
true fireball staff is really good for hunting deers and misthares
using fireballs to hunt misthares is like using hand grenades to hunt rabits
its a tad overkill
all mountain weapons are like that, that's just their thing
but damn is it satisfying
just kidding i did that all the time
Spear isn't.
Casts lightning bolt
misthare suck ass to hunt
not to mention, the balancing specifically on the silver sword is wack - its slash damage is still significantly higher than the iron sword's, it's a direct upgrade no matter what you're fighting
yeah man. doesn't help that i like big heavy hits so before i converted to a mage on my 1st playthrough i was hunting hares with arbalest lol
overkill is NOT real.
that hare WAS a threat and it WAS reasonable to trolstav it
it's called self defense π£οΈ
im suddenly reminded of a good time i had in mistlands
i was brawling with a seeker (idk if it was a soldier or not) and i died
ive never had fun in the mistlands, not possible for me
the end so i went back to do a corpse run and after dieing a few more times i finally came back. the seeker was almost dead but regened a sliver of health back. idk what the exact circumstance was, but next thing i knew was that it was raining, and i was fist fighting it
was the battle of the ages of like 3 minutes and the naked viking won
i hate how the fog doesnt atleast thin up after killing the queen
*mist
same thing :p
mist torches π
No.
you can have an essentially mist free queen citadel if you are clever with your placements and use some cheeky mechanics π
forcedelete mistarea 50 π
cheater
Single-player game. I can cheat if I want to π
shakes fist at the sun angrily
Wait till you learn about:
forcedelete TarLiquid
π
you WILL drain the tar like odin intended
99% of the time, yes.
If I want to build on top of the pit, no.
Can you restore the liquid after deleting?
You can spawn TarLiquid anywhere you want.
-# obligatory semi-unimportant reminder that the radius goes before the ID filter in the forcedelete command
-# IronGate coding things backwards. π
Mistlands for me would have been enjoyable if the mist was tied to dungeons or bosses that once cleared or killed reduced the mist. Even with mist lights it was a horrible experience
hello peeps, getting back in since its been awhile and ive got the urge, anyone know a good mod to replace valheim+? the autofeeding chests and hoe range are what im really after
No such thing as a good mod.
oop, thank you
why not?
Just go ask over in the proper channel.
Not worth getting into it.
ok, ill just leave you to passionately hating mods then
how is the ashlands? is it at least a bit less frustrating then the mistlands?
Mistlands wasn't frustrating... so... ?
Its fire and swarms of enemies
the mist that blinded you CONSTANTLY even with wisps wasnt frustrating to you?
It's the MIST lands...
that seems WAY more manageable lol
Idk about that
true, but i wouldve liked to have unlocked a better wisp or had some way to see like, a good 10 feet
I still enjoy plains and mountains the most
yea tbh mistlands is more frustrating than ashlands. ashlands is more difficult because of the combat tho
less frustrating, more difficult
im cool with difficulty lol, i often have metal before eikthyrdeer and that was a process to learn lol
Ashlandβs is really fun once you get Berserkir and can just go ham
You mean the 10 meter radius we already have?
oooo, sounds fun, doews it take till ashlands to get a scythe?
Mistlands becomes bearable once you get feather cape
you get it after Moder
Scythe is unlocked post moder and itβs not a weapon
forcedelete 1000 mistarea
IS IT ACTUALLY?!?!?!?
i always manage to outrun it
Yes
Unfortunately itβs not a very smart wisp
huh....... alrighty guess im needier then i thought
it's good in dungeons to see stuff
50 METERS!!!!!!!!!
outside it's ok I guess could be better
low vis is one of my least favorite game mechanics
like if its brief aand thematic, awesome, constant? ew
yea mistlands is generally considered the worst biome
mistlands is the best looking biome (with the mist removed) imo,I haven't seen Ashland's yet but I think it's just lava and stuff
its so fucking beautiful when you actually get to see it too
plains was my fav till I saw mistlands
Ashlandβs definitely has its charm it looks like a ravaged continent which seems like what they were going for too
Can you not make your own thoughts seem like a general public opinion?
post apocalyptic vibes
Ooh ok
is it not? like when i see people complain its generally about the mistlands
oooooo
Lmao mistlands and swamps are for sure the most hated biomes and itβs not even close based on the noise from all the internet sources
trust me pal ive been in this discord since the early 90s and mistlands has always been the most hated biome
I guess Ashlandβs would be a close third during ptb
The enemies in mistlands are so lame tbh, it's just seekers and gjall w ticks really
like, if i could build a giga antimist tower, and just have like a mistdome thatd be awesome, but its outright smothering
The rabbits are very beautiful especially 2 stars
Does the Ashlandβs shield generator clear mist in its vicinity ?
π€shield generator???
well that sounds cool and fancy
no but it really should
Missed(mist) opportunity for sure
well I may as well suggest it Iβm not sure if it has been suggested previously
Guys what's the tankard used for ?
drinking mead from your inventory in a different more dynamic way
because it has an animation of you doing it
If you have multiple mead are you able to select which one like with having multiple arrow types in inventory?
no
from top downward i think
I see
works the same as a bow does with arrows
With how you can select which arrow type tho
if you did that you drink the mead
So apparently if you hold it whole tapping fermenter you get an extra brew , it fills it for you
That's now how tankards work, they don't store anything.
anyone have any idea what I should do with my stack of morgen hearts???
Give them to Thor
a worthy sacrifice
I did infact mistake the stack of proustite powder for the morgen hearts tho lol
I have 14 morgen hearts currently
Something something "eat your heart out" something.
π
Something something irongate should remove morgen hearts from the game
literal one recipe
Would be great if we would get a few recipes with it in DN π
Thunderstone has 1 recipe π
Without the thunderstone, what would we do with all the other useless items?
Do what we do irl -> throw all the garbage in the ocean. π
2, ceramic plates
(the joke is that they're only used to put in the obliterator)
would it be considered cheesing the game if my mistlands strat for fighting enemies is running like hell into a neighbouring biome and fighting there?
cos that's how I've been doing it lmao
i wouldn't think so no, intended game mechanic that factions fight eachother π
alright, good to know π
Bile bags need more use besides 1 good item, and another one which gets outclassed the next biome π€·
I feel that is true for many more items. There's lots of items in this game that has only a few limited uses. I wish we could turn all animal (and troll) skin into generic leather, and use that leather for whatever the game asks leather for.
π‘ #suggestions channel for Suggestions β€οΈ
I dont remember if I suggested that already
Ok Im confused now. The first laviathan(flametal) we mined with the battering ram was easy. The laviathan did not seem to trigger when it was borken with it. The second one did for some reason? Do battering rams trigger liviathans?
they still trigger sinking occasionally, ys.
The first one didn't make a single sound the entire time we mined it. Until we actually mined with our pickaxe the laviathan didn't seem to register being broken.
Was that pure luck?
I thought they make sounds when being struck even if they don't sink?
Intuition tells me pure luck, but now i'm not sure
so you'll get the sound trigger if it's going to sink, then it'll start sinking shortly after.
Yes. I know how they work.
But they make sounds when struck.
When you first hit a liviathan it makes a sound does it not?
I think that depends on the sound. Every time you hit it, there's the sound of the pickaxe striking. The kind of metallic groaning sound is linked to the sinking and it's not every time.
Its a 1% chance "per hit".
The battering ram pops multiple rocks with a single hit - so its statistically more likely to NOT cause the levitathian to sink, because you are hitting it less.
I know what a pickaxe sound is... can you not talk to me like Im dumb?
That makes more sense. So it was just luck based.
Thats my educated theory - but I havent checked the source code to be 100% sure - but I feel its a reaonsable assumption
In that case, the answer to your previous question is "No." There is not a sound every time you first hit it.
Laviathans make warning sounds. The water ones in particular will randomly shake and make a sound without going down.
my experience is the only time a sound is made by them in ashlands is when you've "triggered" them - you get the advanced warning of like 15-20s before it starts going down. I dont remember getting a warning with no trigger - but maybe I'm not remembering correctly
I didn't mean to offend. Sometimes people will ask similar questions because they honestly don't know. I didn't want to assume.
Wait, you guys play with the sound on?
sound yes, music no.
You need sound to hear the bees at the start π
Music yes, sound no ππππ
truly skilled players play with no sounds on π
or just destroy every structure you come across in Meadows.
I'm the deaf version of Daredevil.
No sound, sight enhanced.
How do you ever catch rabbits without sound on?
spawn wabbit 50
Or find soft tissue, for that matter? I love the sound of tics now.
Look for ribs. See if skull at top of ribs
Or just never talk to the bird that spawns on skulls. Makes them really easy to spot π
I do that too, but I still rely on his 'Poof'
i looking for a group, never play valheim, i speak portugues from brazil
thx
Can you not take things in the worst way possible for no reason at all?
I can. And wasn't but I believe you just did....
I was asking a simple question and was having someone explain the bassics of sound differences to me. I would say that was treating me like I was dumb.
here have play from brazil?
Nope, it's 100% you assuming wrong things
Nope it 100% wasn't. Even they agreed it could be taken that way.
You are the only one taking offence and you weren't even in the conversation.
I'm... taking offence...
I have seen champions in miscomprehending things but so far you took the prize. Unbelievable
I think you are the one that has taken the prize.
But I could care less what you think. As you come into the chat After a convo has ended and start stuff up for no good reason.
I asked a simple question of "do Laviathans make a noise when they are first hit" and they tried explaining to me that pickaxes make a noise when swung. That is in fact acting as if Im dumb.
But sure I took things in the worst way possible why not.
Some people lol. Have an amazing day and remember to stay kind. I have things to do.
toxicity? in my chill viking game? preposterous /j
Often times it's the most casual gamers that are toxic, at least in MMOs
wouldn't really say the convo above is toxic tho
yeah, was just exaggerating on my part
What about making sure all players have opportunity for Toxicity Expression? ππ
speaking of toxicity, poison damage sucks in this game
wish we could lace our weapons with that for added dot on every strike π
my valheim commandments only have one rule, its that "Thine bees must always be overjoyed"
Personally I'd fix by making Poisoned enemies take more damage.
That way it's different from Fire but still achieves equivalent DPS.
that might get op real quick
equivalent being the main term.
dunno how you'd make sure it'd do equivalent dmg
eg. shoot something with a draugr bow (get poisoned) then swap to krom, do special and with the modifier you do insane dmg
but idk
world of hypotheticals
i'm sure in some world it could be balanced but ye
I just needs to a) matter and b) do it differently than just "hey I stack" because we already have that.
I agree that it's kinda lame but sometimes simplicity works
either a weakness debuff or just add a flat amount of damage per hit on the target depending on the poison used
would love to wail on something with a knife to get most of the poison damage
weakness debuff might be crazy strong
yea it could be pretty good against resistant enemies, all weapons would be viable everywhere
yeah
but if the poison got reworked, I wonder what that would do for ooze bomb
and non resistant even better π€
imo simply significantly buffing the amount of poison damage on poison weapons would fix both.
it wouldn't make them overpowered for continuous attacks because you're still cutting off most of your damage by doing that, but it does make switching to another weapon benefitial
I was kinda liking throwing ooze bombs on infested mines as well as tricky fuling situations
are ooze bombs good? I never tried them bc I always thought bile bombs were so much better but more expensive
yes very
obv bile are a direct upgrade but still don't count them out
they especially shine in dungeons like frost caves, sealed tower, and infested mines
I think poison just stacking would be boring. In fact I think any "damage over time" is virtually indistinguishable from any damage. Its just delayed. I think poison and the like should carry special effects, akin to how frost damage slows down enemies.
In fact I think any "damage over time" is virtually indistinguishable from any damage. Its just delayed.
preach, i always find it odd when people expect a weapon to do better because its damage is DoTin the end it does the same, and in the moment it's just slower at applying its damage.
enemies getting wet from rain would make things more interesting for lightning and frost damage, but then again those are already probably the two best elemental damage types (lightning ironically because it functions exactly like a physical type)
the wetness nerf to fire damage would be neat though
In fact, that poison damage doesnt stack does dinstinguish it from other form of attacks. It just sucks.
exactly
Poison could do something like reduce their attack power, or make them more susceptible to staggers.
Fire could make them more likely to go away (because fire scary). Or something like that.
I never really understood why games have Dot attacks and then theres just a random element attack that doesn't have it and it sucks compared to the other options
weapon to do better because its damage is DoT
Typically it's because DoT has a certain amount of ramp to it, so it's expected that since you're not getting all of your damage in a burst, it should be more damage
Burst damage has certain qualities to it that makes it attractive, therefore it should do less damage than DoT
true, if you're balancing well, that is kinda the #1 rule for making a DoT damage type.
-# it's just that valheim didn't get the memo
which random element doesnt have damage over time?
I understand that but the poison arrows (really anything poison) is not that great compared to fire or frost because it doesn't do anything except the initial damage
the only good examples of this balancing i can think of are fire arrows, which have more total damage than flinthead, and the silver sword, which is incidental because that weapon's stats stem from a time when spirit damage didn't stack yet, so they had to make it that high for the damage to matter, which is why the silver knife and crystal battleaxe aren't quite so generous with it.
-# oh yea, fire arrows are of course also from before hearth & home made spirit and fire stack, so they might have the same reason
that's kinda sad
I hope they'll look back to this once they're done with the final area
hopefully in 1.0 or after 1.0 when they're doing bugfixes and maybe some desired balance changes
hello all im just looking for a newbie friendly server
Check out #1024264966712340510
more fist weapons π
Chilling on a post-Fader hard server now. Balance was decent, but my main issue with mist/Ashlands enemies was the absolute lack of creature sense tuning.
Neither mistlands nor Ashlands enemies have tuned senses for noise/pulling/sight/sneaking beyond the absurdly large defaults. This results in any fight or activity pulling all loaded enemies all the time.
sneaking goes out the window after your first shot in ashlands
yeah it's quite sad
Simple example is deathsquitos vs seekers while coastal sailing. It is fairly safe to sail near plains without pulling deathsquitos (their max sense range is limited, so they don't pull), but seekers will chase your boat from inland because they don't have limits on their max senses range
Noticeable when sailing at night and seekers spawn on every coast flying at your boat like a tanky deathsquito
Even lox are fairly blind where you can walk up to their butt cheeks before they aggro
Another comparison is all swamp draugrs have much smaller sense distances compared to charred skeletons.
It was always possible to sneak around swamp spawners and draugrs due to their shortsightedness, but charred enemies see you from across the zone.
Several similar enemy designs mechanically, but all mists/Ashlands variants have zero creature sense tuning.
unless you're planning to build a huge castle. Iron is one of the most used resources in the entire game
Especially if you're planning to build a huge castle.
I didn't know iron ore could be found though until I randomly got it while fishing, thought only iron scrap existed
Fish eat the wierdest things in valheim π
Fishing is the only way to acquire it.
lying is against the rules btw
Iron ore is obtained from Fishing, as a bonus drop when catching Giant herring.
Iron ore veins do not currently spawn in game, thus it cannot currently be mined in game.
if that exists its so well hidden that I've never seen or heard of it
normally you get iron from dungeons in swamps
- Wiki apparently needs an update.
- I thought you just found submerged scrap piles in swamp?
Has it always been iron ore veins in the swamp? Or did that get updated?
only like super tiny ore patches
Although this item has always been present in the game, it was originally unobtainable except via console commands, much like its corresponding ore vein.
Genuine: Do you have, perchance, a screenshot of what the ore vein looks like in the swamp?
not on hand no π
you can get iron from those big blobs also π€
and those things in mistlands
That is still Scrap though, not Ore.
So are you saying there are Iron ORE veins in the swamp to be found?
Or are even the out-of-crypt ones just Scrap piles?
not veins
Nuggets, w/e
The important part of the question is Ore vs. Scrap
I love fishing but my biggest grievience with it is that the best way to catch fish is also the best way to avoid gaining fishing xp
Before I go spend an hour trying to hunt down proof they need to update the wiki.
Making other people fish for you?
standing on the edge of the water with the line as close as possible so that you barely have to reel to catch the fish
Will look into it when i get home, but i also don't remember ever finding ore veins in swamps, only scrap piles
I'm already flying around.
Freefly should do the trick
Yeah, scrap piles on overland swamps have been around forever. Found them with hammer aoe before, but the yield is still terrible for the effort. The problem is that most of them are partially underwater.
Found 6 different secrets with Wishbone in Swamp, all were Scrap.
So idk.
We are aware of the scrap piles, Smiffe has put forth there is Iron Ore to be found as well.
maybe wishbone doesn't alert you
What is iron ore?
Currently believed to only be a bonus drop when fishing for Red Herring.
Smiffe has suggested this is not the case.
@median umbra Thank you.... but read context first.
i did - and now you know π
I would not rely on wishbone, the freefly allows you to look directly under the surface
I already fucking knew about the Scrap Piles.....
We are looking for SOMETHING ELSE.....
Is this different than pressing Z?
Yep
meanwhile: smiffe laughing uncontrollably at the trollage
Is this a mod?
No, just type in console "freefly"
From context, it looks like smiffe is referring to iron scraps
His exact words were ore, which is why I asked for clarification.
I have never received iron ore from blobs either nor from mists
This is trippy AF π
In either case, the wiki is often wrong too
No it isn't.
Boats receive damage from rain. Every single boat page.
Every time I link to it, I get muted on this server anyway, so I stop linking.
First time ANYONE has mentioned that. See how this works?
See my post history. Not the first time.
It really isnt, and the few times it Is are reason why we constantly update it π just few days ago somebody put in there that 3 trolls spawn during the "Ground Is shaking" event, sometimes people just come and change things based on what they think they know
I can't fix what I don't know is wrong.
I also can't link to the wiki, so that is a different problem; otherwise, I get the mute
Anyone can.
If I try, I get muted 1 min
Hey hey Valheimer, my Friends and me planning to play again around as 5-6 People. Do we still have massive Problems in ashland with Performance und lagging? Last time it broke our run and Motivation π΅βπ«π
I don't know, do you?
@steady bough Huh?
Gotcha, reported.
Why would you report them
Only played using my own hosted server with another friend so far with little to no issues, defo some lag on parrying though sometimes. I think the best thing to do is just test it with a dedicated server / hosted one andd see whats what
Pointless reaction spam.
You're delusional
Not particularly.
Not spam, you replied in a rude and obnoxious way, ive not been here long but can clearly see people have had ashlands performance issues.
You obviously lurk these channels 24/7 and echo the words of devs. You were rude. not me
If you mean in terms of general FPS though its... not great. 4070 and r5 5600x at 2k around 60fps average? 40 attacking fortresses maybe. My CPU is getting a bit ragged with age so likely that
Searched multiple massive swamps. Found none.
I did find that buried scrap piles are a lot, lot more common than I previously though.
Beginning to think Smiffe might be trolling or simply mistaken.
Smiffe would never troll me π
Lol. Ask him about the smell mechanic.
Back from 10 min mute by linking to wiki. See #screenshots.
Afaik, either I misread rules or there are hidden rules about what can be shared
Have you tried NOT using a hidden link?
Why make it longer?
To avoid the mute
And why wouldn't that be noted in the rules?
Should be self evident. Don't post links where people can't see what they're clicking on.
I don't want to run tests on a discord server every 10 min
You don't need to.
Its not self evident if its a relatively rare rule to encounter on discord and its not listed anywhere
In any case. Raft doesn't say it's damaged by water, so I'm confused.
So it was pleasantly changed some time this week
don't rafts get damaged by high waves?
You attempted to mask the link to make it look cleaner
we have that feature blocked β€οΈ
Yes, different issue.
I see
December 30th.
Ok, two weeks
Either way, I'm glad we spent half an hour on something that wasn't wrong.
I mean, it doesn't really take much to be kind when replying to others even if it's a repeated question
Again, that's not unkind.
Clearly it was interpreted as such so instead of arguing that it isn't try to not sound like you are in the future
maybe to you, but when you show this to someone they'll definitely get the hint of the sarcastic tone which isn't really what people want as an answer
Perception of messages online is entirely a Subjecthive thing.
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE
By the guy who actually asked?
Thanks for the clarification. It would be nice if this were noted in the rules. Hard to know when a mute is caused by censored content or blocked features.
Can pass that forward. Some of these instances however fall under common sense. For example attempting to at everyone for a random message in this discord? of course we won't allow that π
if you don't plan on actually answering a question, best to just not reply at all
good day
I'd re-read the rules before posting further. This convo is bordering an argument.
I found now via Copilot Same Information and it is still a ingoing issue with the Performance stuff and lagging and clientside issues etc. since ashlands. Bad to see and read and I dont understand what excatly the diffenrenve between Valheim and other massive openworld Game which even have better grafics and Details. Hope the best for Future ππ€π
Unfortunately I think the game engine is likely at its limit and has a lot of deep rooted performance issues. Hopefully the devs can do what they can to minimise the effects in future updates.
Most lag issues are caused by network issues, rather than actual game performance.
We recommend turning off VPNs, using fixed connections, turning off crossplay if not needed etc.
Cant be we played 1000 ingame days without any Problem with the same pc,Network and Players and after going in the near of Ashland it ended in a Rubber Party. We played with it 2-3 weeks and when the Performance issue demotivated us π’π―οΈ
Ashlands is the most demanding biome in the game and will definitely exacerbate any existing issues.
Its just say because we wanted to play as 8 and do Adventure with a boat of 8 Vikings Bit currently Not possible After out latest exp
I've played with 7 and only experienced minimal lag spikes. They're still working on it.
Now I cant offer them to play because this will Break our Motivation again. Hopefully with Release the hole Performance stuff would be gone. but thanks so far for Shared view and Feedback. We will hope the best for our Adventure
I personally don't proceed to ashlands until its optimized some more
Seems unlikely it'll all be gone. As a single player game it's doing its best.
but dem elemental weapons are still spicy
What cool stuff do people do after beating the last boss?
- Build.
- If not happy, delete and rebuild.
- Repeat until happy.
What about the mini bosses revealed on the map by female trader, how do i know when im ready for certain fights
When you feel like going to fight them, fight them.
these minibosses feel stronger than the actual bosses, especially the one from the plains
Oh
No? Lmao
Can i maybe go all in against the easiest mini boss to test magic?
They are literally normal enemies with higher hp.
Are the mini bosses just there or do i also need to spawn them, furthermore can i respawn them?
We're back into "dude, just play the game" territory.
the fulling berserker with a shaman on top? naaaaah
K
Stay in melee and the shaman does nothing. So it's just a berserker and then just a shaman.
You are more than ready for them when you are ready for the boss of the apropriate biome
The sun total of all building strategies π₯³
A copy/paste I have from my days in the Satis discord with all the people asking for "optimal configuration" or "how do I build"...
Or keep progressing to the mistlands, then return to the plains and cast fireball until it stops moving ππ€£
I will remain a muggle until we get better lightning/frost magic.
Fireballs are so π₯±
Casts fireball in @gray sandβs general direction π€
You can make fireballs irl with petrol and styrofoam
DO NOT FUCKING ATTEMPT TO DO SO EVER
Shooting lightning though, that's just cool af.
If frost staff dialed in accuracy with higher skill levels I would pledge my allegiance to the Circle of Magi the very same patch.
Hmm, my usual gif is not favourited anymore. Interesting
better accuracy on higher skill would definitely be nice
if we ever get a secondary move for staves I'd like it to launch a big icicle spear
aw hell yeah
more in the random scaps department
Hi! I am Korean. Anyone up for playing a game together?
thanks!
Noon gjall.
Damn Iβm finally getting lag spikes in Ashlandβs
Been running the game capped at 60 and the more inland you are the more performance suffers Iβm guessing all the lava lakes are the main culprit
bro why is LFG only US
I thought it would be all the random stuff left all over the ground that would be the cause of the lag at first especially around the trees but it doesnβt appear so
There are EU and others too you just gotta find them
literally haven't seen any other posts apart from NA
think some1 said the stuttering is because tons of assets being loaded in constantly
I hope the deep north isnβt like this
nah i'd like a smaller community
also why is like every server 25+
why do only old people play this π
Bruh why 25 surely itβs not that much of a difference from 21 to 25 lol
yea i assume part of their rework is fixing the lag
I'm 18 π
just be friendly and i bet they will accept u anyways
tried already
Or find an 18+ one
Entity count
The number of things that just lie around in Ashlandβs after a lava bomb goes off is horrid
Not to mention mob count
So deep north is the last biome?
Yes. Once it releases, the game's content will be finished.
It feels a long way from finished
it isn't
Finallt got 2 asksvin in a hole lowkey regretting not brewing up animal whispers beforehand but atleast my sneak skill has doubled in level
Iβm really hoping the vibe for deep north is a cross between the mountains plains and Black Forest tbh
like the haunted forest from game of thrones
i honestly don't get mistlands hate
i've been through the biome in two playthroughs, and i love it
People like being able to see and travel with ease
Mistlands is misty and full of large height variation which makes it hard to traverse
If you go in without using everything available to you from the previous biomes you are in for a bad time too, potions best food and maxed armor makes the biome significantly more bearable
I think a large part of the ML hate is due to the fact that you really need to go slow through it. POI and resources are easy to miss and the terrain is difficult. Most gamers just want to get on to the next thing.
In other words: They want to play quickly a game that's meant to be played slow
100% on them, not the game
yeah, i take my time with upgrades and preparations unless it would be funny to come in underprepared
when starting a new game I always miss mistlands the most and cant wait to get there
They want it all and they want it now!
i love the mistlands tbh, in both playthroughs, it's like if the swamp was on steroids
same, it's mistlands and plains for me
exept way mroe beautiful atmosphere
Shhh, be vewwy vewwy qwiet! We're huntin' wabbits.
I'm always sad when I'm done in the black forest, I love stabbing trolls with the abyssal razor.
I dread the mountains but love the plains and the mistlands.
Mountains are where I die the most. I fall too much.
My personal ranking for the biomes would be something like
- Mountains - wonderful vibes, enjoyable gameplay loop, Frostner π§
- Plains - Stunning scenery, great place to base up for the late game
- Ashlands - Enjoyable combat, feels like a war zone
- Mistlands - Feather Cape, fun boss fight
- Swamp - Longship is great, constant rain not so much
- Black Forest - not that I dislike it I just usually try get through the early stage of the game as quickly as possible
- Meadows - tutorial biome, serves its job well with introducing the player to the mechanics, simple
Plains
Mountains
Forest
Mistlands
Ashlands
Swamp
50
Feet
Of
Crap
Meadows
I find the black forest beautiful but I despise the trolls and greys. I cant stand that biome
I like the simplicity of the meadows and the black forest, not too much going on, not too much you need to care about, the swamps makes it more complex and it only gets more complex after that.
Itβs a great biome itβs just like tutorial biome part 2 tho
for me, it's
- Plains
- Mistlands
- Black Forest
- Meadows
- Swamp
- Mountains
have never played ashlands before (i'm terrified)
greys are the worst msot infuriating mobs in the game. they shoukd be in later biomes i think haha
Only until you acquire the atgeir
their remains take up inventory space too
I find the first time in burial chambers annoying if you donβt get a stagbreaker and are swarmed with skellies
i actually avoid any of the sledges cos it makes the chambers a tad too easy
YES! and the rocks and erratic movement.
I use a flint axe when I go into my first burial chambers
Open a door, 2 star skeleton be like SURPRISE MOTHERFKER!
with a archer behind him to shoot you when you staggered
Plains, mistlands, meadows, black forest, swamp, ashlands and mountains for me.
Weapons related: black forest, mistlands, ashlands, mountains, the rest if the biomes.
Damn mountains so low
Mistlands
Ashlands
Plains
Swamp
Black Forest
Meadows
Mountains
Plains seem to be a near universally loved biome lol based on all these rankings
It has no dungeons, that's why I like it
Its like the Goldilocks biome
Not too far from the edge not too close to the centre, not too easy not too difficult
It's already terraformed and almost all crops grow there
Best place for a permanent base
Green metal π
I think even the game design hints at you to set up base there with looting of the fuling villages, you get loot that can be used to craft workbench upgrades without needing to go back to meadows
surprisingly not, from what i've seen on reddit
i see more posts saying the plains is boring than posts praising it
Hmm what biomes are praised on the Reddit ?
i see lots of black forest and meadows praise and that's it lol, but then again reddit is super negative usually
Searched up favourite biome polls and from 2+ years ago it went meadows Black Forest mountain plains to 1+ years ago being meadows black forest plains mountain to 10 months ago a poll showing meadows plains Black Forest mountain
gaming subreddits are usually filled with sub 100 hour players, they prolly havent even gotten to mistlands
It looks like plains popularity has definitely been rising over the years, Iβd be interested in seeing a more recent poll and results
I'd like to see another meat source in the plains, like the rabbit. Maybe a groundhog type thing that runs around idk. Something not designed to hate you
mosquito meat mmmm
Oo a poll from 5 months ago shows meadows and plains evenly split at no1
Plains has 1 meat, Mountain has 1 meat, Swamp has... 0 meats, Forest has 1 meat.
Seems like Plains is exactly on par with all the previous biomes π€·ββοΈ
Swamp has draugr intestine meat
Entrails is just the skin container for the Boar Meat in the sausage.
swampsages
mmm draugr intestines, id love to just eat em raw
Ashlandβs has 2 meat with rotten meat and asksvin tail
volture meat too
mistlands has 2 with seeker and hare and technically chicken meat unless you consider that plains meat
yeah vouture too
ooh wild plains chickens running around
Chicken is used for mistlands recipes, not plains recipes.
It can be acquired in the plains tho
I know, but it isn't used there
And was originally only available after yagluth was defeated
Hello people
nice to meet you all
hi u2
Shakes one of those eight hands.
haha 7 actually
other one would be the wiwi
anyone knows where can I share sound redsigns for Valheim ? @pliant ocean
Octopus handshake roulette
Wait so how does it work for female octopi
Oh itβs in their ears apparently
Octopus has 8 arms so there should he 8 hands, no?
:p
in fact it's 6 arms and two legs
8 arms and 2 legs for squids, but octopi have all the same length of arms, no?
That is were the octo (meaning 8) comes from, no?
If it isn't so my biology teacher from way back when has some explaining to do.
it really depends on the type of the octopus we are talking about here.
And don't worry your biology teacher is right and Octa means 8
just had a funny thought. voltures having electric based attacks cuz volt in volture lol
Hello everyone. I would like to know if anyone was able to kill the queen with physical damage on a high difficulty threesome?
We have problems when the queen loses 1/2 of her health and starts spamming by summoning seekers (about 4-6 seekers come out at a time)
can you have 2x players dealing with seekers and 1x queen? because queen herself is pretty easy as its basically just power attack -> roll -> power attack -> roll -> ...
I killed her solo on hard using mistwalker and a stack of bile bombs over 25 min
She can only use her summon attack once every 60 seconds, she can't spam it
how good are bilebombs?
Pretty decent π
They clear groups of seekers efficiently
Ooze bombs are good too but they do less dmg
demolisher work very good for boordlings tooo
Do items on the ground disappear if you leave them too long on the ground? Like Stones, etc.?
yes
but
not if they are near a workbench or some other base items
If they are not in range of player base item then they will despawn after 2 in game days
Noooooooooooo
but in a forrest yes. after a few days, they despawn
That's where my 80+ silver went π¦
probably π¦
But if i find a random house in a biome and i put them in a chest there it's fine, right?
Yep
Ok, that's what i did now π
cool beans. never made bombs b4 except for ashland platforms. i was mage so had crowd control handled, tho i can't imagine how warrior would handle it lol
Lot's of running, rolling, jumping and using the environment.
Like kiting her up the stairs all the way to the top and then jumping down with the feather cape, while softly gliding down, chug the potions you need and have a rest so you can do it all again.
ah so pretty much like mage lol
Is there any point to upgrading my arbalest?
yes
You'll get more durability and damage, like with anything else
aside bilebombs, was wonderin' if demolisher would play any decent niche. never really used the two handed hammers but maybe there's some way
bigger numbers. everyone loves that
only thing that's pointless to upgrade is the trollstav
The wiki shows that max level is only 9 more damage
The durability is increased by 50 with every level. By upgrading it once you're doubling the total durability.
Not like the arbalest is the worst case of running out of durability...
oh. well aside durability (but kinda slow in gen so won't rlly be breaking often), it's the best crossbow out there i think, so may as well polish up ole charlie
guess the dmg will slightly help with skill scaling
That's ripper
Yeah but sometimes you need to move closer to the threat as with a mage you can stay away and you have more tools to your disposal to distract the threat.
When is the next update
We dont know
Sometime in the future
Also when is the game gonna fully release
Next update = 1.0
dunno either, tho 1.0 is the final version. final biome is gonna be deep north and they're currently working on that
No one knows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s88r_q7oufE
Hey vikings! is it possible to remove ash fortress spikes with precision (picaxe etc) or do they only take siege dmg?
i hit them with picaxe a million times without breaking but for some reason I see damage numbers instead of 0
Is Yagluth supposed to drop more than just the trophy? I killed him on top of his alter and can only seem to get the trophy. Been a long time since playing there used to be a place holder item.
Just want to make sure no items clipped through the alter and couldnβt be grabbed
He drops a trophy and some torn spirits
Dang, I figured there was something. That sucks. Gonna have to kill him again. Been having an issue a lot lately with drops falling through stuff.
Thank you!!
Sick pfp jj
You should be able to remove them π i believe sledges should work on them too
Thanks!
alright ill give my best and let you guys know how many days it took to break one ;D
i think buildinga workbench on the go is pretty easy and with that, a storage chest
hmm thanks discord for not updating untill i hit sent
Also Staff of Wild if you don't care about projectile damage numbers, since roots damage scales with Elemental magic skill level, not quality of the staff.
Well, that's exactly the problem, we have 1 mage and 2 warriors in our team, I throw a shield at them and run after the queen and hit her with a staff of ice, and everything went well for the first half of the fight, but then we started dying even under a mass of bones and a shield, and it wasn't the queen who killed us,
but the seekers, and if I went to help my allies, then even though I killed all the seekers with a fire staff, new ones immediately spawned, also due to the duration of the battle, 2 stacks of ooze bombs were over and now the warriors could not quickly deal with the small seekers and we decided to retreat and try again because our damage to the queen was too small And we couldn't have stood a long battle.
What were your warriors loadouts
First: Padded armor level 3, jotun Bane level 3, carapaceshield level 3, feather cape level 1
Second: carapace armor level 3, krom level 3, feather cape level 1
Pretty good kits. Seems odd they couldn't clear the seekers
Yea Krom shreads Seekers, and Ooze/Bile bombs will take care of the broods, so idk what happened there
Desync in group play is a very real thing that, makes combat aids sometimes
what sort of material can be used to encase the refinery? just iron and marble? could i just stick it up high and let the emissions fire off into space?
If I'm not mistaken, the seekers killed me without a shield with 1 hit (I ate stuffed Mushroom, Seeker Aspic, salad), according to one of the warriors, if he was attacked by 2 seekers at the same time from the fog and a strong attack, the first seeker stunned (blocking on Krom) the second killed(provided that he did not have time to roll over), just as often the seekers from the flight went on the attack and fell directly on the warrior's head, and no matter what he did, he could not throw off his head and died after several blows
my friends told me putting it outside works as well
Just away from ur walls and stuff
Encased in earth away from other builds works
^
What a fight. Can you see about getting everyones gear to level 4?
Not possible until ashlands
I'm not completely new to this game (1262 hours) and in principle it won't be difficult for me to get to the ashlands before killing the queen, but my friends don't want to do that.
@primal hawk introduce one of them to the atgeir seeker problem solved
The group scaling is fairly minor problem imo, with 1 or 2 more people fights get much much easier
I think this is a problem for us, because after summoning, we don't have 2 seekers, but 6
Tactically I was thinking similar. Atgeir, Mystwalker. Stuns and slows
Although I'm not sure exactly what it is exactly because of this.
its because she spawns more enemies based off of how many people are in there
Could use the demolisher as well when getting overrun
I actually wanted to kill her with the help of refined eitr and demolisher, just like they do in speedrans, but my friends don't want to kill the boss like that(
The root harnesk helped me a lot in there. I'd let the seekers pile up, get some breathing room with the Demolisher, then wail away on the Queen with my trusty Frostner. Then run back to the entrance, clean up the seekers, and repeat.
Lots of heal pots, too.
@gray sand any luck finding iron ore?
only place I've ever got iron ore from is the bonus from catching herring.
Smiffe said iron ore veins can spawn in swamps, whether he was trolling or not Iβm unsure of
there are muddy scrap piles randomly buried around swamp. That's probably what he means.
i'm 99% he was just casually referring to buried scrap piles
I think so too but at the same time he used the word ore and not scrap and when asked for clarification did not reply
LOL, that sounds like something he'd do
I find it statistically improbable that iron ore veins exist in game and no one would have found them and news filtered its way back to the general community by now--unless they secretly added it VERY recently
Smiffes gotta be trolling yβall π
Unless it requires very specific conditions to generate
Iron ore can only be obtained from fish
1 in 1 trillion chance to spawn iron ore veins buried in swamp
Whatβs more rare- iron ore, or blue dog winning the race? π
Gonna have to look into source code for this one lol
Yes, specifically in vein form
yeah fish have smal chance to drop a particular item and one of the first drop that (iron ore) but also there's iron ore veins which are in the game assets and would work like 'normal' ore deposits just that there's no known current in-game spawns of the iron ore vejns
yea theres no spawns of the veins
I wonder if they will be used for the deep north
We can't have another biome that makes us use iron
Iron and padded and deep north material lol
i could see that possibly, as they already have the assets ready-made, and do have a history of adding more available sources of older materials in later biomes
Deep North should have it's own material
I watched it happen live last night and I've been laughing the entire time
yeah I think everyone would be sad if it didn't have it's own new material
even if you have to combine it with older materials
Frosteel (TM)
lol
@foggy glacier Huh, now i cant find any tree with the lines, probably just visual bug
yeah, makes sense.
Excited for this months dev blog π
ever since i got magic items i havent had a single raid in the past 3 days+
because now every1 is afraid
is 13 surtling cores rare in a single burial chamber?
I would say so π it is very good haul
im ngl, when i first got too the tree sap in mistlands i told my friend "how much you wanna bet the feathered cape is icarus wings and we use the sap as a wax to hold feathers together" sad to see i was probably wrong π still havent found the recipe for it yet and im not looking it up
that sounds like you don't want help, yes? Not gonna spoil it for you unless you ask.
no help please, just tell me if im even in the right biome progression lol
what's the last boss you killed?
yagluth
Yep, mistlands is your next spot. Blue lights everywhere.
Will i eventually find the recipe for it in there? place is a hellscape rn
Yes
ty
wouldve been cool to see they had an icarus wing concept but nonetheless that is a wholeee different mytho lmao
So Mistlands is everyone's favorite biome right
yes
I've been searching for almost a week. Looking for a perfect Mistlands island chain. Minimal to zero mist and 3-5 islands to work with. Perhaps some spires in the mix. I want to do a sweet community town on this server.
I've found a couple awesome mountains that edge right up to the ocean. Got some ideas going for those spots as well
Ok thanks btw that sounds so interesting
There we go. Life is complete
Good day vikings. Is 2025 the year this game finally leaves the beta?
Hard to say, we donβt really know. Maybe towards the end of 25, but I wouldnβt bet on it personally.
Completely impossible considering beta was left almost four years ago. Exactly on 02/02/2021
Kinda hard to leave something that already left
Clearly they were going for the Early Release phrase
I know
What are these notes you're taking
Insert classified top gun reference
Talk to me Goose. Talk to me.
Smaveriffe
Whatβre you tryna say?

"Numbers, numbers, numbers, math, math, math"
We need that "English dude... English" gif from the first Transformers movie.
eh, i can... but i want to play with someone from poland π¦
- It's in the server rules, just fyi
- #1024264966712340510
In there you can specify region/language preferences.
ooooh
Tbf most people play only with people they know. So yeah, finding a random person from your region who also wants to play with a random person is quite rare.
yea, i know
but i don't have anyone to play with from my region :/
and i don't want to speak english all the time π¦
i just download this game like 5 min ago
If you just got it, don't play with anyone.
Experience it for yourself first.
May be worth putting up an lfg post on Reddit as well. Current server I'm in was found this way
yea, good idea
but still i need to find someone later
You're talking like 100+ hours later.
Definitely not something to worry about at the present time.
maybe, but in the night i like to play with someone, like 1h ago i just end another game solo
and it's become boring to play alone
π€·ββοΈ
Alone is my very strong preference.
nah, alone is the best for dark souls and fps games
Best is subjective.
Better is subjective.
but it's my preference
π True.
This game can get souls-y depending on how you play though.
Lots of rolling. And if you miss roll on higher difficulties you just die.
haha, i just download this game because of this xD
i love souls games
ok, i just create new game
sooo, what i need to do?
Listen to the birds
Best thing you can do is just be curious, "What's this? What's that?"
sooo, how i can craft?
Tab and make hammer π
Just play. Seriously.
Just play the game.
Please do not be another person who is asking us every 4 minutes how anything and everything works and what the optimal all stuff...
Just... play the game. Experience it. π
nah, i just want to know how to craft, it's all
The things i would do to play valheim again for the first time π
now I will gonna kill everything that moves
a free lobotomy
I can do that for you, same with elden ring, I will erase your memories
for a price of course
and v rising too
Would you play hardcore, no map, no portal?
I never insisted but I will try right now, I hope i do not miss anything
You can still play it for the first time.
It's called doing biomes in the correct order and actually killing bosses before progressing.
π
but muh skill expression π
Fists-only run. Problem solved.
already have was not a fan of no map and no portal
No portal is fine.
No map is hell.
This right here to me is, the ultimate experience
As a builder no portal was unfun due to having to cart stuff around
it wasn't a challenge it was just the tedium
CartSkill Issue
I will say the same thing I said for years in the Satisfactory Discord:
Tedious? In a game founded on tedium?
No... say it ain't so... π
i like muh portals π (But not the stone one fuck that pos)
Yea time investment at least doubles with no portals. No map was easy once you realize a big nav resource
bro doesnt know how to send your boat flying back to your base
Stone Portal was a mistake, but it had to be made given the universal law of "no game is perfect."
I mean you can server hop too. But that defeats the purpose
I'll bet Snail feels the same about stone portal.
Idk who Snail is π€·ββοΈ
i bet i am the snail
I haven't seen Snail here since recently coming back. But he hated bow because it's op. So I'll bet he wouldn't use stone portal either
yes!! i craft hammer π
Oh yeaaaa
Of course the bow is op.
That's why we invented them irl π
Spear or bust for me
Bust while using the spear for me π₯΅
Atgeir gang
Atgeir is another op weapon. But so good
I was an Atgeir man for a long time.
Then I was an Axe man.
Last run I tried out Spears and o-m-g.
how'd that spear work in the ashlands π
I'm running primal and blood spears atm
I don't understand people running primal on melee weapons, but π€·ββοΈ
is primal the green enchant
Yep
thought prcoess for green enchant on wep is immob them then flank em or w/e then just lay into em
but the procs are something you can't count on so i don't like em π€·ββοΈ
Procs are inconsistent for sure. I'm just having fun trying the new things.
I just take them as normal weapons with cool looks, and whenever they do their special effect i am happy π no real need for everything to be 100% predictable
Do Silver veins normally only spawn a bit higher up Mountains? Or can they also spawn in/on the bottom of Mountains?
Only above certain height, yes π
Yeah that's what i was thinking indeed. Never had my wishbone go off on the lower ends
Above 120m to be precise π
Thanks π
okay i think
its time for my yearly grind in valheim, every year around january-march i start playing valheim again, because i never really completed it and never had a run without cheating... so that means, its time to try again
lets spend another 200h on this game :D
Let's go
I'm on hold until Winter feels like playing Valheim π π
-# Tiny text @plush umbra π
I just tried no map
how do you guys do it? I located the spawn point, went to the lowest point from meadows because I know the ocean could be located there, all good, placing torches and workbenches, but damn, finding deer boss stone is impossible
You have the vegvisir at spawn, ideally you wanna get a hoe crafted while still there and then make a path towards boss stone
then from there expand your path network to coast etc
ah, the hoe game then
or leave marks all over the world, your first βpathβ could be a line of trees from spawn to the boss stone
a line of fallen trees I mean by that that you chopped down

Instead of having a 6 GB "memes" folder on your desktop???

I spoke to Germ recently. I forgot about the tile run. What a unique challenge!
Oh cool! Yeah it was pretty interesting; I think he was the only one doing something like that lol.
I never seen anyone doing a run like that
Iβm sure weβll see a lot of familiar faces when 1.0 drops. Itβll probably be crazy in this Discord tbh. Might need another Valheim chat channel π
I constantly recommend the game. I look forward to Valheim blowing up
That would be wild. But well deserved
IIdk why I just tried to take on a dverger tower before fighting moder
Challenge your limits. Never limit your challenges. o7
I actually won
but I died doing so
crazy that the peak was 3 years ago when the game is currently better than its ever been
I prefer OG fulings tbh
circling ai is cool but its gotten old and predicatable
wish the seekers would've not circled like they did on ptb π
oh yeah
Is mob ai capable of tactical combat
I think enemies should circle but only if there are too many targeting one player.
with over 13 million sales since 2024... we will easily see over 1 million players at the same time trying out 1.0
Incredible numbers. Love to see it.
Imagine a few flank wide to attack from the rear
Are you excited for 1.0? π
We are

love the build u can do a LOT .. i wnet hammer mode built a complex an d now jus running thru the game
honestly is it weird that most of my fun is just
jumping into a random player's world, help them kill bosses, and bail
is it best to use either the full Ask Set or Full Flametal set? (mix and match does not give any bonus except only -5% movement speed from main wep)
up to u whether you want the ask's endurance set bonus or more defense. personally i like more def so would run flametal with that one cool armored cap, but i know a guy that prefers the mobility and utility of ask set
imo ask set not having move speed penalty + various stamina usage decreases + still having solid armor makes it better than flametal, but both works on normal difficulty
Ask set + feather cape
Ask Set + Ash Cape
Flametal for mixed sets. Ask if you really want that full set bonus, which isn't great outside of solo normal imho.
