Not knowing what you deconstructed and suddenly having iron is concerning
Is it normal to get double boss locations for Eikthry?
Every boss has at least 3 locations on the map π
I was going to say 6 π
Nope, no boss has 6 π max 5
Fair.
Never knew this. First time I've seen a second one since never got far into each game. π
Two Eikthyr right at the starting spawn
Oh you can go through the whole game and never find multiple of the same altar π no worries
You can chose which one you want to do then XD
You can go through the whole game without ever finding Yagluth. So... π
Heh xD
If you run off, will the boss despawn or follow you for a ways?
Maybe I could do double deer battle
It will never despawn but also not follow you if you are far enough
Yes you can but you dont even need the 2 altars for it, you can summon 2 from same altar
Never even considered trying that before
Thank you all β€οΈ
Hello SPEEDY, hi Asatru, Puncher of Drakes π₯
Lexus, Luxus, LΓΆxen.
lixian
Imagine you had to kill each boss once at each altar in the world before you got a trophy π
Would make for an epic series of battles and SO MUCH SAILING! π€£
Now you be speaking my language π
Oooh, i would not mind that at all π so much exploration... Love it π
Kinda lazy to name them properly so they are kinda like that, my 2 star Asksvin I use as mount is named ΓskerΓΆ π€
Thank you very much developers for making that wish come true. We already had a great time together with start of a completely new world. Now we're looking forward to get to the swamp to find the new stuff all over there
can i join multiplayer im kinda newbie
Praise the gods for the controller hot fix
Hotfix came even sooner than we presumed π
If you are new to the game then i would suggest to make at least one playthrough solo π
i see
Facts. Everyone should experience the Mistlands without any context at least once.
I second that - try it solo first - you will have more time to take it all in and find out how it works - playing with others that know more will put you under pressure more.
What does the LODs mean in the patch notes? The new hotfix notes use that term.
Its just because that way you find and learn everything yourself and will not be cunfused if some other player suddenly brings new stuff about which you have no idea where it came from π
Is there now suddenly a hidden mechanic where when you craft an item, you have a small chance to get another? o.O
Yes π
Not really hidden tho
Neat!
Different models of the same object that load in based on distance from said object.
I wondered this when i got two iron helmets...
I seemed to not see it in the patch notes.
I thought it was just for food until I saw someone post about getting an extra bronze axe
Any item??
Game did a ding and suddenly I had two bows and I was freakin' out.
Damn what??
backups are cool... i'll take it π
Look at crafting skill description, i think it Is there
Like even the fire sword potentially?
I believe so, yes
I thought you could only get one fire sword per world
Any item. For example I got extra Carapace shield two days ago (while still on PTB)
With blessed RNG yes it is possible.
Seems insane gonna be helpful as heck tho
I really think it should be removed for equipment an stuff like that
It seems mildly broken
It makes sense for items that come in multiples but not so much for weapons and armor lol
Indeed
Not really broken as there's not many uses for extra weapons or armor pieces. Cool to have for decor tho.
I am sometimes blind, but thank you!
π
I mean broken in the sense that you can craft additional flame swords from Ashlandβs which are mean to the one per world
Kinda useful for the cultist armor for multiplayer servers tho
Could potentially save a lot of time if a lot of players want the armor
Multiple Dyrnwyns per world is also possible if you increase resource drop rate from World Modifiers.
For items that arenβt stackable I feel like it would make more sense that you become able to craft finer pieces with more damage or durability etc
It's not like it dupes everything. It's random and occasional.
This is a solid idea.
π?
Feel free to post it in #suggestions lol
Yeah it happens randomly but it is possible to put the extra item into Obliterator if it feels like cheating π
But that's a small percentage chance of a moderate percentage amount of coal. Cheater! π€£
I feel like thereβs definitely ways that havenβt been thought of yet to abuse the mechanic
1 coal per 10 items, so single item just gets obliterated π
It's the 10% of a coal thought that counts.
trolls are so unexpected
when the time comes and i need them they dont spawn
but when im foraging in the black forest they spawn

If you have found the Bog Witch, you should try "Love Potion"
interesting
Aw thank the devs for dealing with the control stick moving on its own with the slightest tap that was REALLY agitating but I blamed my controller cause uhh.. yknow.. technology is reliable
Thank you for getting on that quickly!
damn, can't seem to find the Bog witch from our dedicated server, checked 3 big swamps, but still can't find the witch. does it have to be unexplored Swamp for the bog witch to spawn / lock the location?
Yes
New content only generates in unexplored areas
damn, this is going to be a bit of an operation then. π
thank you anyway. π
New content appears always in unexplored areas since areas you have explored stay locked as they are already generated in world. For the future knowledge. π
Does the unity Update also come with any visual improvments?
can bog witch spawn on older worlds already explored swamps?
Does the new update have anything to do with me having the Moder location marked (before update) and then when I go there after the update, the arena ain't there? Or is it just a general bug cause I had this happen with Elder similarly but without an update in between a few months ago
Only on ungenerated/unexplored swamps, both new and old worlds
The update did change some spawn locations. So if you had. Boss alters found but had never explored that would change to a different location.
The game still looks the same, but performs a little better
Itβs hard to visually improve a game that already looks so good
without completely redoing the whole visual grounds they got
which visuals are worthy to improve should be the question. before asking to improve em.
Dont get me wrong i didnt request any improvments, just wondered if there might be visual changes with the new unity version
Renders Valheim in 8k.
Looks exactly the same given the art style.
That's not how new engine versions work.
The patch notes for the unity version valheim now uses is mostly bug fixes.
You don't agree with facts? That's a hard one to come back from.
What you agree with or not doesent really change anything fortunately π
The game performance has increased alot. My base used to be a lag fest. It's playable now lol. Furnace is still laggy but that's fine cause then I can overfill it lol.
Well few trolls here and there are not unheard of π
It's 2024. I guess it's OK to be wrong these days.
Wouldnt you want to know... π
Performance improvements is a blanket term. Maybe they increased performance with certain elements in the game that you simply haven't seen yet. It doesn't mean the game as a whole runs better. It means under certain conditions it's better. Which by my testing yesterday, it has gotten alot better in bases. Went from a lag fest to actually pretty smooth on pc. Xbox however is still iffy but my fiance is on old Gen so I'm just happy it can play the game lol.
I used to play Valheim on Xbox Game Pass long ago, now i have Valheim in Steam but i want my old same file from the Xbox Game Pass from Cloud save, how do i get it without having to buy a month on game pass?
From what I saw you posting previously, you seem not to trust us either.
Which brings up the question: "What are you doing here anyway?"
I'm afraid you're in the wrong game.
Wrong game then π
I don't agree.
He disappears before you can hurt him
The game has never been that expensive.
You know, perhaps you should create your own game, base it upon Viking Mythology and go rampaging in Ashgard to kill Odin, Thor, Freya, Loki and the whole lot.
Who knows? It may become a hit.
Quick question. Will bog witch spawn if an area hasn't been explored or will it only spawn in new worlds? I already started a world but it's vastly unexplored yet. Curious if I just need to hop to a new world to get the things or if it's just spawned in a unexplored part of the map.
Is he actually breaking a rule?
It is so cute that you think you agreeing or not changes anything π
The very first one basically
Bog Witch should spawn in an unexplored swamp.
I wouldn't bother.
π€
not sure people understand #rules-and-info and channel topic about staying on topic in Valheim related chat room
π€
I would like to formally apologise for my behaviour
sry my b, thought i was general for sec
Looks like Smiffe is using the one tool that we never get in Valheim, but may sometimes needing: "The Broom"
We have Kastur now.
Well, we have a broom π but cant use it
*Kvastur
Oops, my mistake.
Kvast = broom in swedish
True. But I hope that doesn't mean the bog witch is modeled after a mod using the broom of doom.
whats the drop rate on Kvastur trophy. it seems like every one i kill i t drops the trophy. am i just lucky or is it 100% droprate
should be 100%
aight
Also, why isn't the broom a weapon?
Should be great for giving +25% sweeping skill when being used to kill bats of the stirred cauldron event with it.
I just cast a fireball at my feet when the bats get close.
*In frost cave and starts to get swarmed by bats, FIREBALL *
Problem with that is that the majority of players can't cast fireball when visiting frostcaves for the first time. But they may have visited the Bog witch, meaning they may get the broom.
oh right didnt even think about that. i've been playing this character for so long i forgot the hardships of not having fireball
Last night i tried to break a feast item with the hammer and my U.I. crashed.
real
thatβs rough
I didnt even know that a U.I. could crash without the main game systems crashing
why
I didnt code it idk, i just missed a horizontal item holder and destroyed a lox pie instead
probably a mod soft-locking you
you can send me your player.log file
In this hidden folder in windows:
C:\Users\ <username> \AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim
i dont play modded
me and my crew play vanilla
we can't replace a building piece with another type without having to destroy first, right?
like I have a full stone house I made before mists, can I replace them with marble without having to destroy the whole house first?
maybe if your quick enough π
or can use the 30 second-no-break timer
maybe I stick to stone then π
stone looks better anyway
If it helps, build support next to what youre breaking so you have a little more time to break and swap.
if only we had more stone pieces to build with π
I do wish the rock spires in the Mistland were black marble sources rather than stone. Just getting black marbel from skeletal remains or destroying Dvergr structures is rough
x and z axis rotation could fill the niche of a thousand pieces at once
marble with shingle kinda looks cool but my house is pretty big. so I'll stick to better looking stone
Initially yes, but once you carry around a pair of iron ingots, destroying the towers is a breeze.
ill see if i can find it (you havent been hacked again right?)
no hacking π
I took some precations since last time
I run my client as a light client now. so I can just delete the client and load up a new untampered one
nice
but mostly. being more careful helps π
Hello, is Valheim not included in game pass anymore?
I have my old cloud saved file on Xbox Game Pass but now i owned this game on steam but doesn't have the old same file yet
Is there anyway to access these cloud file?
sadly no
Currently in iron age no map hard mode. If I find the bog witch before the trader that'll be crazy. Already found Hildir lmao
for as polished as Valheim is i'm amazed it's still in early access. a lesser developer would have released the original biomes up to the plains and made mistlands and ashlands DLC. iron gate makes me feel spoiled
You must be new here :). Game is amazing but it definitely needs/has had a lot of work done
Good devs are far and few between this day of age. Thats why i prefer indi games
The hearts more into it
I have a question for people who mark bee hives on the map and cross them out because they colleted them:
Why are you like that?
that seems like so many extra steps
and I'm not making this up... #screenshots
im willing to bet, he might not know how to get rid of marks
no it says beehives
oh i see it now--for some weird reason it wasn't linking me to the comment
yeah but why write it down to begin with. Just collect the guys.
that you were talking about, just dumping me midway through the thread lol
he might think they respawn
hard to say tho hahaha
Um. That area is behind the partial fog of war. Someone else marked it and copied it to the map table. Maybe for him to gather after?
oh that makes some sense--a way to communicate to other players on servers they cleared it
Ahh ngl, Its old news now but its still dwelled on me a bit how i found the queen as a boss to be just a bit underwhelming π₯Ά, yeah sure she has high health and damage and an annoying arena so its overall difficult but compared to yagluth throwing fucking meteors at you and everything around that fight it felt not as epic, And this is just a big bug...am i the only one π§
fader in comparison was fucking amazing, favourite boss 1000%..
Yeah, having a safe space to retreat to definitely removes the challenge.
IronGate makes me spoiled because of the character system. Having characters that can travel to other people worlds is such a game changing idea. I find myself not enjoying other survival games with friends because I cant start my own world than go take that character into my buddies world.
Honestly, just having magic does, too.
Ohh i don't reaaaally refer to those, Its just her aesthetic...if you put her and yagluth side by side i would think that yagluth was further in progression..
i don't find a giant bug to be close to as intimidating or epic as an undead sorcerer king π₯΄
Thatβs a fair statement.
Imagine if we fought a full body Yagluth, With legs and the mobility of Fulings
Oh F No!
yeah, he should totally have a "phase 2" added someday
Its not like that would ever change, whats done is done, the queen is cool i guess, i just wanted to get it off my chest...
then we could see just how big that bone daddy is
oh i haven't got to him yet, nvm!
bone daddy not bonemass?
nah, he's slimedaddy π
the great and mighty π©
What about yagluth? Heβs also made of bones
Bone King
so yags is bone king, fader is bone daddy
i don't see a tierlistmaker thinggg....Fader > Yagluth > Moder > Eikthyr > Elder > Bonemass > The queen
Fader > Yagluth > Moder > Elder > Bonemass > Eikthyr > Queen (sheβs a good boss but the only one whoβs killed me)
wooo, thank god, controller fix
Forsaken powers:
- Bonemass
- Yagluth
- Queen (for the sorcerors)
- Fader
- Eikthyr
- Moder
- Elder
....yeahhh queen is fiiine...its just in progression....i dunno man π...i guess it made sense to fit in with the seekers i just....blah...
Queen is the top-tier forsaken power for killing things with a pickaxe
So does feather cape basically make barley wine useless?
the opposite actually
sounds like quite the opposite
No, barley wine overrides fire weakness
(So youβre resistant while wearing the cape)
like they cancel each other, I could benefit from other cape more
no. override completely
They donβt cancel each other, you keep the resistance
Feather cape is weak to fire not immune to fire. Youre weak to fire while wearing the cape
resistances always override weaknesses. and highest always wins
i actually bring feather cape/barley wine combo to ashlands when i'm running for my life to find flametal
i thought it was that meads override equipment, but I could be wrong
it's whatever the highest bonus is
this is what ivebeen doing but I died to 1 warlock fire blast wearing it,..
I like the Queen, she is cool ππ» and her theme is cool too!
I guess yagluth set the bar really high for me
I mean, in practice, that always means a stronger resistance overriding a weaker one and/or an outright weakness--they're not offset though, is the point, the mead just temporarily overrides with its effect (very resistant x0.25 whatever damage type)
surprised Eikthyr so far down the tier list
For whom'st've
aesthetically i find him quite poggers, the fight itselfs fine, not much of a boss fight but it is what it is.
well when you fight him you probably have flint tools or a club. not many options for weapons at the point
I meant the powers tierlist
ahhh...i think thats a fair placement
I dont think it implies the power is bad, i think thats a good place for moders too and i still like to use it, its just like a bunch of others are better
Like the swamp! I don't dislike it...i just like literally everywhere else better π
last time i fought Yags i was able to kite him in a circle and slash at his spine-tail thing without him being able to catch me. i love his design and his attacks but he could use some smartening up
Ahh overall i'm not considering difficulty, thats a bit of a mixed bag depending on what you do...sometimes i fight eikthyr with my fists, the queen is easy with magic, annoying with melee, fader is a fairly difficult fight in all the good ways....i think personally?...i have never actually seen another ones take on fader so far π€
I like the cartoony art that gets done for the releases. This one on the 0.219.13 patch is really cool.
Yes, the anime style launch trailers for updates is amazing
lol now i am playing the game of: "Where did I leave my boat?"
I started putting a map marker down but lacking a map marker, you can sometimes infer it from your travel path.
i usually mark mine on the map as "boate"
Fader is great! Very doable on melee, much easier with Eitr equipment although I prefer melee combat. I like how he has at least one really fatal attack that can kill very fast if player is careless.
i normally do too, but i could have sworn i broke it down and put it in a chest. i'll check some other chests, and then look for a map marker
specifically i'm looking for my longship. and it's been a LONG time since i used it
ahahaha
I frequently find, much to my chagrin, that if I don't put a workbench nearby and do some spawn prevention I will come back to a heap of splinters and torn fabric where a boat used to be.
so i have a Boat empty portal for linking to a boat portal when i'm sailing. And i found i have a chest near it. And... what do you know? my longship is in that chest. I'm so smart
i totally forgot i came up with that idea... thanks past-me
y'all gave me a suggestion idea--an anchor item that you activate and it just automatically marks on the map where the boat is while active, then removes this marker when deactivated (toggle with E)
saves time manually marking it, basically--and, a little more "life" to the mechanic of sailing
Bog witch spawn locations are in the same approximate radius on the map as Haldor/Hildr? ie, not too far, not too close to center?
think so
yes
thanks
I marked the radius by eye, and went to the first bigger swamp there.. and boom
took me 15 mins after realizing the range
yeah, i need to find a new swamp for this i think. going to try the northern part of that radius, since i'll be having to go north eventually anwyays
Kinda like the bed marker?
exactly like that!
i think it's a good idea. and the bed gives it some precedent
granted, much like getting killed by a falling tree, is losing your boat a core valheim experience that everyone needs to experience once? π
Core Valheim experiences list: 1) falling off a high spot while building and dying 2) killed by falling tree 3) killed by deathsquito when you wandered into Plains by accident for the first time 4) losing your boat
fiddleheads cant be farmed right?
correct
only farmables from ashlands are vineberries
I really like using the mashed meat as my hp food.. gotta go harvest those houses again for more..
#4 will teach them "always remember to drop your anchor before rushing off to adventure"
trying to think of other core experiences. hmm. "Realizing you don't have enough iron."
sees troll THE HELL IS THAT?!?!?
Thereβs never enough iron!
"waiting on the side of a mountain cliff for stamina to recover"
as a player who stopped playing before mistlands release the first time, i was pretty shocked when an abomination popped out of the swamp water. i was like 'dafuq is that!'
Piquant pie has better stats and is fully farmable
totally forgot about piquant pie. and i'm drowning in vineberries and asksvins from my breeding tower. i need to make some stacks of that
granted, in ashlands i'm not eating HP food, but still
Yeppers! I usually eat twice daily. Two pies and greens in the morning and mashed meat, scorching medley and a shroom shake for supper
If you time it exactly right, it perfectly corresponds with the day/night cycle
Thought it was over.. but here I am, wandering in mist again hunting for soft tissue
lol yeah.
I spent time on the wiki adding up all the refined eitr I would need to make everything. Didnβt leave mistlands until I had all of it. Haha
Not very efficient, but it was comfortable
Im making embla set
I did a melee build too....it was actually the first time i had died to a boss in that entire run, and i didn't feel bad about it cuz it was so epic anyways
that is what i do with fenrishair on the mountain... not leaving the mountain not killing moder until i got enough for EVERYTHING I want π
did they fix the controller bug yet?
took me like 20 Frostcaves to gather all the supplies
in retrospect, going BACK to the mistlands with ashlands tear gear makes the process easier when you need more refined eitr later π
yes
thanks guyx
Did you get Cultist Trophy from 20th? π
I got the trophy from the ninteenth (second to last) and still was lacking 12 fenris hair π¦
so i had to do one more to get it all
That's... Awful RNG indeed. π₯²
Meanwhile I got 2 from my first cave in latest playthrough
skeleton i had marked on my map has no head!!!!!!!!
well... that charakter of mine named Brigid has been the most unlucky character I ever played... i have been standing next to spawners in the swamp for DAYS killing everything that came out until i got that draugr elite trophy
you mean just ribs? @old flint
never had it that bad with any other character
yes
and i got a whole wooden box of extra crystal (after i build all my windows) from hunting for the stone golem trophyy
i think some just generate like that (ribs only)
At least you probably reached level 75 knife with all that
yes .. unfortunately. and theres a starred gjall on my ass
oh dear
If you are talking about the Petrified bone remains, they sometimes can spawn without the skull. Near skull there will be 5 Ticks around.
starred gjalls my cue to NOPE THE FUCK OUTTA THERE!
barley stacking in 50 now is super nice
got a lot of levels pretty high yes π but usually i do n ot spent 200+ ingame days to get to kill yagluth and i am not even close to that point right now
Oops, avoid Mistlands at night π there can also spawn 2 star Seekers during night.
Getting the fenrir set in itself about quadruple the amount of time you need to spend in the mountain
is there still a bug where crafting 1x can give more xp than 5x?
i saw it the other day on the bug page
I wouldnt care with my ashlands gear but it was supposed to be fast in n out trip to harvest soft tissue.. and im on my old armor that has like 60 of it
yepp but i do need it ... i have died to yagluth every single time i tried to fight him in padded and not once fighting him in fenriss π so... no other option but get all that stuff
i feel like WITHOUT the frost caves/fenris, mountains are one of the shorter biomes tho
and i died how wonderful
Yag is a hard fight, you need a lot of patience
You can't just dodge the attacks and keep hitting him, you need to run from the fire otherwise it will end badly
not at all ...with fenris i am so quck on my feet i can get behind him a lot and what his ass while he tries to turn around π can not do that with heavy armor - stamina issue
That gave me the desire to make that armor for the first time ever
i am never going back to try and fight yag with padded armor... i will spent all time needed to get my fenris set complete and maxed out
I rather be slower than turning askvin if it means I get extra protection with heaviest armor
I've seen some using Silver Knife for quick attacks behid against Yag and keeping rotating so he doesn't get to attack. Fenris indeed is fast.
to each their own π i prefer the light armor and am still miffed after all that years that there is none in plains π
Fenris + speed potion = speed hack
padded armour looks cooler which is my criteria for using a setβ¦
linen sound like the perfect material for light armor, I guess it's used later though
well if i want to look stylish i can wear that to go shopping but not for fighting π he he he
Ratatosk Tonic indeed is great, you move much faster even with Heavy armor ππ»
ratatosk tonic is plains level? whatβs its recipe?
You can make it as soon as you find the witch
It's even earlier than that.
oh I see
i am going to jump back to my boat now... go one where i left off in the morning ... i got the symbol on the map... now let's see what is in that hut π i am excited
She sells the ingredient right away.
so you just gotta be rich to get it
Well, something use for all the gold we gather.
something better than clothing
getting rich is not hard if you empty out 20 Frost caves and a heckton of sunken crypts to get the stuff you need f or armor and weapons π
IIRC it's about 100 coins for 5 of the ingredients which will give you 5 hours worth of run speed
Ratatosk Tonic indeed has earned its permanent spot in my inventory ππ»
after drakkar this karve handles like a peanut shell
if we get boat customization, they should just let us add ceramic plate to karves & longships
add shields and spears to decorate atleast
i'm still grateful to have an unwieldly large boat with more storage to show off and also to be able to fit 2 catapults on its deck comfortably, but...
it's like the LEAST optimal choice for ashlands SPECIFICALLY, OTHER than the one critical detail that it's the ONLY choice that doesn't burn up
Then why would you ever use drakkar?
imma use this setup to catch my first fish
That sounds just like "they should make furnaces smelt all metals"
naw you'd still have the trade off of (a) less health (b) less storage
If it makes something you got previously completely and absolutely worthless then it's not as worth
now talk about unlucky.... found the bogwitch... and while i ran around to the entrance an abom stood up right inside the bubble π¦
Ignorable vs speed and maneuverability
Let the broom take care of it
what do you mean?
Thatβs not entirely unlucky, roots are very useful materials if you havenβt progressed too far
More storage and hp is irrelevant if the ship is faster, and it's not impossible to unofficially extend a longship's storage with carts or encumbering yourself
I took a cart on a longship once, ran directly into a serpent during a storm, the cart started glitching and damaging the ship very fast and a couple second later the longship sank and I got eaten.
The Drakkar is only really utilized to sail inot the Ashlands. And once you have a portal setup, you no longer need to sail into the Ashlands. the Longship has more maneuvability, that if youre just sailing and do not plan to sail thru ashlandic waters. It is always better to take the Longship.
The less storage can be easily bypassed by bringing a portal to offload your loot when you get a full ship. Can now even do that if its an Iron haul, bring a stone portak materials and you can port metals back to base as well.
he he he i bought one of each she had to offer... now we go home and see what we found π
I have now sailed to 2 locations for skeleton i had marked on my map. neither of em had heads
Past you is really messing up
yea f that guy
The drakkar on each of my playthrough just crash landed on the first ashland never to be used again
ah, I think maybe it can situationally make it less relevant, but it's not exactly the same as the smelter thing that just objectively would perform every function of the others--like you'd still in fact have a real difference in karve/longship/drakker 'base boat' choice trading off health for maneuverability effectively (IIRC the bigger boats at least as between karve & longship have higher top speed) also, maybe you sacrifice some speed adding the plates?
ALSO also, maybe then we could build "naked" (faster) drakker (but that then burn up in ashlands, sans adding plates)?
Is there a cape for embla set
I guess one advantage of the drakkar is that it's much easier to hit serpents without your boat being in the way since you can walk on the side
yeah I don't hate it as an addition at all, it's just funny it's MOST useful outside the specific intended and quasi-necessary place it has in progression
Nope, it used the Feather cape in its set like its Mistlands eitr-weave older brother.
because the damn spires make navigating it a nightmare, like you're backing up a fucking 18 wheeler to the Ashlands
what are the armours that provide the hammer stamina reduction? asks? or the hildir request clothes
my search for the bog witch is off to a great start as a i ground my longship in shallow waters immediately. on the plus side, berserker axes sure deconstruct a longship fast
TIp: Never go full sail INTO the ashlands. you'll get more maneuverability at rowing speed imo
literally COULDN'T even--HAD to
Hildirs clothing will give menial stamina reduction.
I wish branches didn't spawn on pathened or cobbled land π
wdym, itβs totally organic
omg the feasts make such a great decoration for tables
the new crafting stations dont have sound effects when crafting
The troll cape is the only cape that is part of a set bonus. Any other cape can go with any other armor
oh so asks set is the one that reduces run/attack/jump stamina
weird now that you mention it though
yes. - 10% run and jump stam usage, -20% attack stam usage
Hildirs clothing is 20% stam reduction for building/repairing . I was mistaken and thought it was tiered, but all them are the same at 20% or 15%
is it really worth it then? I mean what worth does stamina reduction have at that stage when you can just eat good food, get rested, and use potions? embla/flametal feel way better
it's MOSTLY for the aesthetics I feel, but hey a little mechanical buff not bad
yeah to give it some use
The ask set doesnβt reduce movespeed but flametal does
forgor heavy sets did that
Imo, dont eat good food when youre building. Especially in the Meadows. Sleep thru the night so Fulings, Seekers or Charred dont attack. eat berries or honey so you have more stamina to build
I usually wear heavy so I get used to the slowness
imagine not wearing comfy clothes at home
and when youβre building youd be using hildir clothes so still not a really solid use for asks
Fair enough
but I mean I guess it does serve its role for what itβs meant to be
maybe a slight speed buff would be nice
i've been wearing clothes for half the in-game days so far lol..
i've been building, mining, chopping, farming, cooking, and all the while when raids happen i just don't feel like looking for my armour
My curse is a raid starting and me forgetting I havent eaten health foods...
My curse is a raid starting
My curse is forgetting to remove my root harnesk for a surtling raid
The worst time a raid can start is when you log in so youβre not rested
I've been chilling the mountains building a castle and the only raids ive gotten were two Ghost raids
when do i get ghost raids
and 1 skele raid
mountains are one of the smallest eligible raid pools IIRC
Yeah,
yet that pool has some of the most annoying raids
which, besides the view, one of the few things suggesting them as potential base locations
cuz you can't grow shit up there!
Consider instead: a raid starting while youre transporting animals
I have never built a base outside meadows which kind of upsets me rn
wolf raid in the middle of the plains biome is a great time
unlikely other than wolves, but, wolves would def rip your 2 star boars apart--loxes, depends upon how it plays out, asksvin probs fine, wolves don't act tame wolves
not even plains?
Just Tamed my first Asksvin and it was a 1 star.
plains is great for farms--farm all 5 crops up that point in one place
started, never finished
Unlikely but not impossible, if your raid timer gets real unlucky while youre approaching the outer wall of your base!
plains is great, the deathsquitos are minor, the fulings are parry heavy, the lox are great to tame and farm, and the growths are hellspawn. pretty solid base biome imo (plenty of fine wood too)
Doesn't the wolf raid happen anywhere not around bases?
in plains and mountains in a post-bonemass world
are they ever REALLY finished?
Well, anywhere in certain biomes
yes
it's the inverse of the usual "within x distance of at least 3 player base objects"--so NOT in the radius of 3, 2 or less only
i dont mind it as much in plains but in the mountain before you are geared up it is very dangerous
is it really prevented in bases?
wolf raid? as long as you AREN'T technically within whatever the distance is from 3 objects, should be
I IMAGINE it's entirely possible in some parts of what you might technically consider your "base" that you still might satisfy this requirement (e.g. near the periphery, maybe near just one workbench or campfire, etc)
i don't see why it would stop happening in base coverage, but i'll hop on and test right away
Wiki only mentions that the base structures arent required, not that base structures prevent the Hunted raid...
it def does specifically @plush umbra
source?
It may be that it shuffles it sufficiently down in the queue that any other available raid is more likely than the Hunted raid, but it isn't explicitly disabled?
just tested, it can still happen if you're standing directly next to 3+ player base structures, it's just mixed into the other invasions with an equal chance
Yeah its most liekyl to happen out in the wild, since nothing else can "raid" you in the wild. Also the Wolves are Hunting you, they can hunt you anymore technically. It just also has to work around every other raid that raids the bases
oh shit, i stand corrected--I could have sworn I read it that way but looking over the phrasing on wiki again at least it DOESN'T say CAN'T happen near 3
i just interpreted that way wrongly
funnily, I think this misperception was reinforced by never having (yet) rolled it at base lol
oh π words, my worst enemy
My base is in the mountains now, I love it. I have only had a swamp raid with undeads before at this base (yeah they came all the way up for me I guess lol (see me get raided now by wolfs now I have said this lol)
truly a double-edged sword!
semi-related, I love the idea of raids that are possible NOT at base, hope they add at least a handful more
yea
if i remember correctly the gjall invasion was meant to be that way but probably by accident wasn't?
Speaking of words and the Events page on the wiki, why does it say "bigger minimap"?? Does it mean when you open map with M? If thats still minimap, whats the full map?!
could absolutely be misremembering that
the secret keybind, hidden for a good reason
Gjall raids can only happen in the Mistland, and only between Yag and QUeen. You can an entire world without ever getting a Gjall raid if you dont spend alot of times in a Mistlands base and you kill the Queen fast
yea that raid already has plenty weird about it
it's the first raid to break the tradition of each biome only having one "army_[...]" raid (raids that start after one boss is defeated and stop after the next is defeated)
Might be meaning you can zoom in and zoom out on your minimap
I've had it once, I bravely ran away and let them pulverize my poor little FOB. The portal was under a rock so at least they couldn't get to that...
and it doesn't even make sense as an army raid! it can only happen in mistlands, army raids are supposed to tell the player outside of the biome where to go next, which boss has its eyes on them now
the tactically sound decision
Wierdly enough Seeker raids can happen in the Ashlands. when you technically arent supposed to reach the Ashlands until after you defeat the Queen to be able to get the Queens scale to make the items you need for the Drakkar
Never had the gjall raid since I stopped making a proper mistland farm
yeah I never got it--didn't realize Queen disabled it
I just hope they enable Seeker raid in Meadows again.
Seeker can spawn in the Meadows at night
is it worth making a mistlands base?
They made the seeker raid a lot weaker too right?
I make sure to make my mistlands farm fly under the raid radar
Yes, after defeating Queen
it's easier to fortify near the shores than you'd think. the terrain makes it easy to spawnproof areas and funnel enemies down fewer paths
Yes, A LOT. They even had Soldiers back during PTB.
Good times
Also hoping they revert Seeker AI back how it was before.
Most thing seem to behave like this now, do a couple hit, run away for a little and then come back for a couple hit
Seeker ai back then was true space trooper vibe
I guess just the big enemies of each biomes doesn't and skeletons
the heck...when i need to go sail fast and see where i need to go then i get storms all the time and fog and all that jazz...and now where i am wantig storms for the sea serpent (cause i want good food for yag fight) i get NONE!
scythe is nice, now we need a lox/askvin powered plow to plant seed faster
an item to control/clear weather? π€
wonder if that'd be that difficult, just have it override the 'default' weather schedle
that would be fab π l
it would need to be very costly or folks would just have fine weather all the time and that would spoil some of the experiance when you get the wet debuff while you try to fight something or such... i prefer it being not easily changeable
long long stick to poke the gods for rain
unironically the inverse, to conjure a storm, for serpent hunting, would be actually useful if no other additional ways to seek out/find serpents more deliberately
i'd still love to see some raids at sea (e.g. serpents)
implementation-wise that should be really simple, can already do that with env
me being a rube on such matters I try to never make assumptions, but that was my GUT
Has anyone ever bothered to find out on which in game days you get storms and if it's always the same cycle?
Trying to complete having all sets and I dont have a single trophy for fenris hood
i know the WEATHER system is just fixed based upon day and I THINK the same for all seeds
i DON'T know if said weather system includes all things like the storms
I know it's fixed and the same for all seeds
Im just wondering if the cycle repeat itself
so the question is, does or does that not include the storms?
oh i see, like a pattern
in a sense, it certainly has to right--like even if it never per se repeats, it has to procedurally generate
I think it most likely repeat itself and a cycle is a few days long and it's different for each biome
Like you will never get any rain in a meadow for the first few in-game days so I'd guess a cycle must be at least 5 days
I know this is a dumb question but do I need to re-generate my world for the new trader to spawn?
No just explore new swamps that are at least 200 meters from where you already went to and it will be able to spawn there
huuu found second yag altar by sailing by it is right at the coast like half of it bordering water
There doesn't seem to be any particular cycle other than having some mist about once a week and rain every 3 days or so except the first 5 days
i wonder how they figure out the pattern--they, surely, cannot have preprogrammed an arbitrarily chosen schedule thousands upon thousands of days out...right?
like it's gotta be some kind of math formula basically, that inputs of biome & # of days go in, and the weather comes out, right?
I have no clue but now I know not to build my first meadow base on day 6 and 8
just died jumping into bottom of frost cave, I officially have become dependent of feather cape
Chased by wolves around mountains with nothing but cape trying to retvieve my items. Sendhelp
SINCE WHEN DID WOLFES LEARN TO CLIMB LIKE MOUNTAIN GOATS
'Distractions' would be a cool addition to the game. Maybe give us the facility to throw boar meat (or something) to take the attention of (e.g.) wolves.
that's an interesting idea
sigh. i didn't help that i was swamp/crypt light in the early game. i'm having a hard time finding unexplored swamps
so i need to start another playthrough to get bog witch?
I was wandering in this labyrinth (frost cave) to find my gear and was chased by 5 ulves
luckily, I found my items and slapped them with Slayer
as long as you have unexplored swamps she can spawn in no
nice
I don't think so. Every other expansion with biome-specific additions just meant that you'd have to discover them in that specific biome that you haven't explored yet.
thank god for that, it was hard to get this far for me x.x
(#valheim-chat message for a more succinct version).
i just started with the swamp
that's good, that probably means you've left nearly all your swamps ungenerated and PROBABLY given the # of chances to spawn there's still one the witch wil spawn in
yea the swamp i found is pretty big, didnt explore all of it since i found the boss spawn
honestly, the FIRST swamp you find is PROBABLY less likely to have the witch regardless of size, unless you happened to go far out from spawn to get to it--I think the witch only starts spawning like the other traders a certain minimum distance out from spawn
There's little more satisfying in Valheim than finding that one swamp island that has like 12-15 Sunken Crypts.
yes its around same distance as haldor and hildir
Did the update make it so that you no longer gain extra jump height from the feather cape?
Haldor, Hildir, and Witchhir.
Bog witch = Bitchr ? π
Is she, though? I've not found it yet. Is the BogWitch particularly antisocial?
i dunno either. still looking
she hides out in the swamp though. that's not a social place imo
if she wanted visitors, i feel like she'd be chilling in the meadows
Her brooms the more social one, violent though.
True. It's a bit of a... draugr.
she only sells potion materials to the strongest vikings that can survive the swamps
you could not handle her potions otherwise
If you can't handle the Bog Witch at her homeopathist, you don't deserve her at her potionest!
It'd be pretty cool if the Bog Witch started us on a quest that resulted in the equivalent of a Baba Yaga Hut, though. A mobile comfort level 3 sounds quite appealing.
could it be possible to have 0 turnip in two complete swamp biomes ?
yes
ok thanks xD
though it's also easy to miss them
RNG is a fickle mistress
yeah I have considered the problem very carefully, walking slowly and observing each square meter
with lookalike pictures for help π
TURNIP FOR WHAT?!
They will often spawn in the border between a black forest and a swamp as there's much more surface area for them to spawn and it's also safer so you can often get those seeds early
just tried playing since they fixed the controller bug. my experience is that its still bugged, not at all to the same extent, but still bugged. just me or is anyone else sharing my experience?
updated the game?
im assuming it updates automatically on xbox? (it's done so in the past atleast)
also, the fact that the bug is way less frequent suggests some update has been done
woooo. found that bitch! um, i mean, witch!
Bitchr
When i got staff of the wild weeks back I sent a root down the mountain. Just checked it was still there
despawned once i got close
wog bitch goes hard
youβre onto something
This is weird. I read a runestone to get the Elder's location, but when I got there there's nothing there. Just a burial chamber nearby, but no elder altar anywhere to be seen. Relatively new world (after Ashlands).
known issue when updating. the map changes would have shuffled boss locations if you haven't explored it yet.
ie, old vgesir locations will be wrong if you haven't actually gone there yet
but, you SHOULD be able to read the vegesir again, and I THINK it will give the correct, new, location
I'd remove the old ones to avoid confusion (think you can delete boss markers IIRC)
Shame, I was planning to dig a cave beneath this one, a well - back to exploring
*vesvigir
vesvi-something--lol, I cannot for the life of me remember the spelling of that word
*vegvisir
i can never rembember how to spell that one
vegvisir
veggimite sandwich
DAMMIT!
i was half expecting you to be joking moose
THE CORRECTER BECOMES THE CORRECTEEEEEEE
The other half was correct in this instance
i saw that
my other half is basically always correct. especially if you ask her
~~WE saw that ~~
vegvisir is just a funny way of spelling vΓ€gvisare to make it look more old norse and not use letters with dots in funny places. Means pathfinder, or rather "shower of paths"
Vesvisir is a funny way of spelling QR-code-to-Google-maps.
pathfinder you say?
lol
crikey this part of the woods got a bunch of burial chambers to compensate for the elder going poof
i got an idea: if a mob is wet, it should increase the proc chance of chain lightning. and it works the same on the bounces.
What makes you think Elder is queer?
lots of funny names in this game if you speak Swedish/Norweigan
now if only wetness on mobs wasn't unintuitive
As it should be π
aye π
Why would it be unituitive?
because you might think "oh it's raining, my lightning and frost weapons are gonna rip" but enemies are unaffected by weather, they can only get wet from submerging themselves in water
Oh, so lack of wetness is unintuitive - yes, I agree. Along with enemies suffering no fall damage, and being able to run at full speed along the bottom of a body of water.
yeah, but i'm in the swamp right now, so they are submerging themselves a lot π
but yeah, they should get wet from rain too
i think that's MOSTLY a balance thing
Bog Witch, aka, the Bitchr, music is awesome btw
problem's just that that is the best biome for that interaction by a mile π
and it's before you obtain any frost or lightning weapons
more so the more so you add effects making it net worse usually (for the mobs) to be wet
and being able to run at full speed along the bottom of a body of water.
This one bothers me, trying to outpaddle a bunch of archers has killed me a few times...
Nevermind they can shoot bows underwater too
also, you can't use any weapons except fists while swimming.
i'm pretty sure it's mostly to save on the amount of checks every enemy has to run constantly.
early valheim balancing was already wack as hell, there are worse things throwing it off
If it's a balance thing, it's lazy. Adjust damage taken; adjust damage delivered; adjust resistances. Don't make me turn my longship to make the most of the wind direction so I can avoid a Draugr that demonstrates some kind of benthic superpower.
interesting that they, technically--albeit VERY niche--then have a unique special use case
that's a good point--there's no REAL reason any unbalance couldn't be redressed by readjusting numbers i.e. just make the effect weaker (not as much damage added) if it's found that having it more commonly effecting enemies is making them too easy to kill
yeah, but i don't think you can use fist weapons. just fists
oh goddamnit
nevermind then lol
poor poor flesh rippers--you didn't deserve this
Fisting is more a cooperative skill than it is competitive.
chitin should also make a trident which is usable while swimming. and then make the abyssal razor also work while swimming
love that
Can I find the new trader if I've seen the whole map?
something to go with the new swimming potions π
depends, how did you see the whole map?
I think you already know the answer.
cheat
just messing around on a solo server, testing mods and such, so I can just as easily start a new one
exploremap doesn't actually generate anything, just gives you a visual of the map, so you should still be fine
nice thanks!
make sure your mods are disabled or updated tho, we had a unity engine upgrade
Yeah I only have updated mods active
This is another enemy issue; nobody but players have swimming stamina. A fuling can swim after you forever if you don't break the aggro range.
even stranger, tames DO--i.e. you tame a lox, saddle up, ride out to sea, it will swim with you on top a while, but the stamina bar will deplete, and when it runs out, lox starts losing health just like a player
yeah. i guess it's just to simplify coding the enemies. no fall damage, no stamina
BEGGING the question--did it only get a stamina bar when it became tame?
also, i guess the enemies are kinda easy enough. no need to handicap them more
are all lox, tame or not, like this, and it's just a subset of enemies using stamina?
any tips on where the new trader is located? Biome?
swamp, far enough out from spawn
That's a great question! I don't know the answer.
this could definitely be tested by riding a lox into water and then removing the saddle and seeing if it takes damage/drowns
ie, all your other tamed lox don't suddenly have stamina bars. it's only when you saddle it. yeah, that would test it
for a control, try to get a tamed but never saddled lox into the water too
tamed wolves can swim forever. no stam
That depends on when you encounter them. Evading a rampaging, water-walking couple of draugr on a raft is a very different prospect to doing it on a longship.
that's true
Ticks do it too. They just navigate water beds like they're standard flatlands.
new scythe is great!
wait a minute
you know what i would like to have displayed somewhere: what percentage of the whole world you have explored already... that i would love a lot
does the new update make you get discover updates on everything all over again?
im obsessed with making stuctures that meld into the terrain. Anyone else feel like this?
it did not for me
I love building without altering the terrain to much or felling all trees and make it all flat π so i guess yeah i am like that
is there a way to bind roll to be something else
no
did y'all try to kill the broom yet?
no
New trophy too
time to buy the new farming clothes!
I dont get what to use these trader items for though
woo. finally doing something with all this gold that's been piling up
you got the new crafting stations?
you make stuff with them. they are ingredients
There was 2 brooms for me I had really good gear and they didn't feel like pushovers so better be careful around them
yeah, bought everything
yeah but to use it you need to make the new crafting stations too? that was what I was asking for π
bought everything, built new crafting station. So everything is just food?
jesus christ
it's all food, meads, cooking/farming/crafting. that's what this update was all about, yes
i am sure he has nothing to do with that π
Sorry, Odin Borson
i can not decide what i want to try out first though π
Ratatosk with Fenris set π€
how to tame askvin? strategy, food?
i used some basic ingredients i don't use anymore to make the mountain feast
Lure it into a pit, feed it with Ashlands vegs (Fiddlehead, Smokepuff, Vineberry)
could be good base food. though i don't have a lot of mushrooms. i need to analyze the feasts by which of them have the more farmable ingredients
they all make hell of a decoration tho
The new crafting stations are about compartmentalising recipes.
they are all very pretty, yeah
was thinking that too... i could outrun anything then if the buffs do stack
-# you good moose
whats the scythe thing for?
harvesting
Ratataskr, fenris, and eikthyr for endless sprinting
Add in the asksvin cape
where do you build the tool?
They do stack, also ||Wind Run|| and ||Fader power||
where do you think?
holy crap, why not just click on a few different crafting tables?
your moms basement
to be fair, it's kinda complicated--you have to buy part of it first, THEN it would be visible
Depends on which bosses you've beaten as well
i did buy the part, I just cant find where to buy it. Have beaten yagluth
oh yeah, and that @odd helm literally otherwise, one would have no idea
i am still on the hunt for the missing ingredient ... the recipe does not show up for me ...so i am gonna hunt down what ever I have hunted before and see what unlocks it π he he he
-# did they change the boss requirement from Moder in the last PTB?
kinda surprising, it's a common ingredient
It's love. The missing ingredient is love.
After defeating Moder, yes.
By that time, I'd assume that you've collected the missing ingredient as well
I have checked every bench thrice... so i am missing something π
It's definitely around the same tier
might be i only need touch it going through all my boxes now
Forge
lol... touched everything in the bottom row of boxes that is were all the metals are π
and now it is there
does heat resistance work against only lava or fire too
Both lava and boiling water are related to heat damage
Heat resistance delays the time it takes to make you die
it's not heat immunity
yeah basically gives you just a little more time
very satisfying... makes quick work of harvesting π need to replant in the morrow...
It lowers also the damage ticks from the heat
i think also mitigates some damage--but functionally, more time before the DoT starts, then kills you
i don't have much handle on how noticeable it is. really--because by definition you're IDEALLY (still) trying to avoid those situations as much as possible and it's just a little extra cushion
Unfortunately bog witch doesn't sell fireblossom or waterleaf or else we could get it as a potion
imagine, you drink a mead then start just running over lava
So I just discovered that the staff of fracturing is especially deadly if you have a dry-moat surrounding your base, or rather the 45 blobs & oozers who decided to visit me did. The little fireballs just carom off the walls of the moat like a pinball machine.
I have a tactic I can recommend.. it includes jumping, running and jumping again and flametal armor + the feather cape π
just make sure theres a rock nearby to rest there
lol
Alternatively you can ride an askvin and his stamina bar will get you all the way to the end of the continent without having to worry about lava. And then you abandon him there
youre cruel
I had a lox, it died, I buried it. Havent rode a lox since
I just assume they thrive where I leave them
Only difference is I pick up the saddle before saying goodbye
shit, if they could just obey the follow command none of that would be necessary
the plains feast is very efficient. you just need barley, lox meat, and cloudberries
(bread, lox meat pie, cloudberries)
They all are
just easier to get cloudberries compared to mushrooms
comparing it to the mountain feast
cloudberries are the pickable that seem to be most plentiful
definitely
I am trying to see how far I can get without killing any bosses, is their a way to break iron lumps without a pickaxe?
Maybe find overworld, use a hoe to lower ground and bring a troll?
you can get a bronze pickaxe with the help of trolls
Get a troll to break some ores in black forest to make a bronze pickaxe
you can also kill ooze and blob to get some odd iron scrap
You cant craft a pickaxe withou first getting an antler iirc
Oh, something I've been wondering a long time - minor thing but still - will the skippyjump animation when walking up tall ladders ever change?
you just need bronze and wood. i was doing a no boss run with this viking.
Only the antler pickaxe needs antlers
you gonna confuse newbies with this tho lol
i mean, he's specifically asking about a no boss run
oh well, then he's asking for it--missed that critical detail lol
you can get a troll to break ore deposites and then you can go smelter it π
all recipes in the game are gated only behind their ingredients (crafting station levels count as an ingredient)
if you have all you need to craft it, you can craft it, the game won't arbitrarily deny it
Yeah I have bronze, I'm not seeing it, do I need corewood or something?
i think so
for the bronze pick no
yes, core wood
heloo all im a returning player from the ash lands update any new stuff out and if so what and also help me pls to know how to use it lol
core wood + bronze is the bronze pickaxe
more troll mining lets go
oh you right--I was mistakenly looking at bronze AXE
yall were right, I got it lets go
i gave up my no-boss run trying to look for iron, was such a pita
I love when the game conspires to kill you but you manage to survive all the same. Forgot to eat while on a hike in the plains, when I realise I quickly gobble down some food, but before it regenerates I hear the stukas coming in. Three of them, but managed to dodge/block and kill them all. Phew...
and i didn't want to glitch into crypts
Use the chair method
no boss, no glitch, yeah
Fair
Thats a hard one tho
How needed is silver anyways?
I can do plains with troll armour pretty easily
Silver sword is very good vs Yag, and no silver, no Frostner
you can do silver easier in a no-boss run i think
abyssal razor tho
silver veins are easier to find
Yeah but I'd need frost mead and thats a pain in my arse
Silver is pretty often actually protruding a bit above ground
you can run into a frost cave, and get fenris hair for chest
same with iron
that's what i did with this guy. got fenris chest before frost mead
pickaxe aquired
i met a miniboss in the first cave i found. really insane fight
lol, wow talk about the luck on that @hazy bolt
-# finally, someone respecting the fact that the capes aren't the only pieces with frost resistance, and certainly not the only ones worth making first
I always just forget about fenris
lucky!? i had to use 2000 arrows on that thing
i almost always get the wolf chest first π easier then wolf cape
either wolf chest or lox cape for me, but fenris coat honestly seems really reasonable too since you're safe from the cold in there
I get neither and get the lox cape like 2 hours later, the 12 frost resist are enough for me to do everything I need to do in the mountain and move on
(i just really love the lox cape's aesthetic so i make it sooner or later anyway, might as well do it early)
I love that one too, very much prefer it to the wolf cape
i go up with 3 or so frost meads to find a silver vein (often with stagbreaker), come down, go to plains to hunt some lox, sweet cape~
on this run, it only took scar and 1 frost mead each for that trip
matches fenris well too
the best thing you can do in this game is to get 100 blood magic. it gives you a 700 dmg shield imo
so rare that i get to hear that~
I always preferred the look of the lox cape over the wolf, it's also a big bonus that it cost so much less silver
700 damage in your opinion? what if the enemies disagree
Sealed Tower whey, first time solo. Last time I distracted them while my brother put a crapload of arrows into them
i cheesed the sealed tower boss with hammer on the ground floor lol
you can smack him from outside the tower
Poor Linen cape gets no love. But you can dye it colors!
I couldn't bring myself to do that
it get no love becaues it requires sacrificing cold resistance!
Haha I know
It's pwetteeh, but it doesn't keep you warm and cozeeeh
i give any cape with apron mode bonus points, but i still find its model too...messy Β΄v`"
it has no width (i want a wide silhouette, lox cape is perfect in that regard) no detail on the neck, heck it just clips into your back instead of actually wrapping around your neck in any way iirc.
I think I made a linen cape one time to match with my Fenris set. Got a white cloak to go with the all-black, and it seems Fenris set gives frost resist, ya? I think that was my reasoning behind it
yea, fenris and wolf armor chests both give you frost resistance
ugh turns out this tower has a massive tar pit at its base, tar blobs are angry at the little guys in the tower. All very noisy
tar guys are no joke. they are the only things in the plains i am careful about, in ashlands gear
is the game gonna be on a higher sale soon?
isn't it 50% right now?
im too broke to buy it atm, student things
i run in circles a good bit away from the put, ever so slowly inching closer to it until one of them notices me, then i wait for it to approach, walk sideways to avoid the spit and oneshot them with a club secondary attack
dawg i am carefully managing finances rn, is no good and sale ends nov 3
using a bow could massively speed up the first step but i'm too stubborn to touch bows
it's $10 USD
it's not going to get cheaper than that afaik
I am very careful to not aggro a whole gang of them, and if it happens I'll just run
and if it does, not often
I've noticed with high leveled gear that when you block their attacks they don't apply tarred debuff on you, only poisons for few seconds. At least with Flametal shield.
π
im in a third world country man, shits bad
you're in Mississippi? Man, that sucks. I avoid the south
bro worse, fucking yemen
but it's probably as cheap as you'll see it
Yeah, I've seen games at 25% occasionally - but that'd be after full release and full price. 50% of the Early Access price is probably as low as it will get
π
yeah 50% is what we run usually
Yemen has been dealing with hyper inflation. yikes
Is there a point with blood magic skill high enough, that the Dead Raiser from Mistlands, is actually viable?
It's one of the favorites for people so... very yes.
The skeletons are so underwhelming tho haha
Then don't use it π€·ββοΈ
dead raiser is viable with 0 skill
it does benefit from higher skill more than other things though
Dont get me wrong, i love the idea of it, but when im playing with dead raiser, unless i keep spamming staff of protection, they just die π
This is what i needed to hear π
i did setup a greydwarf blood magic afk farm.
staff of protection for skeletons is a NECESSITY no matter your blood magic level
but that's the mage playstyle anyways. always be bubbling
Im one of those people that doesnt do "afk" farms for skills, i like leveling it myself, (plus just means i get to explore more map while doing so)
Is it just me or have the βyou are being huntedβ raids increased since the Bog Witch update? Not a complaint, by the way. Just something Iβve noticed. Iβve had more wolf raids since the witch update than I have had across entire past playthroughs lol.
Maybe Iβm just on an unlucky streak. Or lucky, depending on how you look at it.
No. Because I have raids turned off. ππππ
i think just RNG, Sammy
Yeah. I donβt mind it. Lots of wolf loot!
Simple raid when you have the atgeir too.
I haven't gotten any, strangely I can also take metal through portals. It's almost like I have raids off and restricted items through portals on.
Fantastic. Clearly, my question was not meant for people with raids turned off. π
Got a Hunted event while I was inside the Sealed Tower, never felt so safe for all the wrong reasons π Wolves danced with the blobs nearby though
Nice, lol.
Ever since I learned there are eggs in the sealed towers I refuse to buy them.
hunted raid in the plains is often useful. fulings vs wolves fight!
I must earn my chickens.
see, i feel the need to create a job for haldor
Haldor gets enough of my money. and now he can make barrels
well ya NOW that he sells barrels, between that and bait, he gonna get ALL my money
that the witch don't get
why fishing bait is so easy to make from trophies
I just started a new run. Hard preset, trying deathless and maybe some weapon restrictions (no bows).. Would I be crazy without bows at all?
against the queen would be hard I think
if you are doing pure melee
No portals π
Queen is easy AF in pure melee.
My son and I done a melee queen fight, back when mistlands first came out.
Sure it took us about 7 hours, and 100 deaths, but we got there in the end
It's only Hard preset, only hard combat and more raids π
without dying once?
Yes. Have you never built Himmminimmmnimnmnmimmmnimn Afl?
I haven't died to Queen ever.
anyone seen asmongolds fight against the queen b4
You ever done it in a multiplayer server, where no one but yourself is over 13, and the kids literally are useless and just cause more spawns/damage/health of everything? π
Not in server with minors π But with friend group yes, but don't remember if any of us died.
Yeah im sure youre friends are more switched on than my kids π
Demolisher is brood swatter πͺ
My daughter spent whole time thinking bugs were on here IRL π¦
Himmin Afl vs. Queen
Poke poke poke, poke poke
Dodge
Poke poke poke, poke poke
Dodge
Take this round off to regen stamina
Oh, she spawned adds?
Press MMB twice, they are all dead.
Poke poke poke, poke poke
Dodge
Poke poke poke, poke poke
Dodge
Take this round off to regen stamina
Repeat until dead.
Facts.
Well, one of my friend in group learned during Mountain era that there was a sprint button π€£ They always wondered how everyone else were faster than them.
My brother learned about the dodge button in Mistlands
Dodge is jump so you dont get hit right? π
He was dying a lot and I thought well it happens, then I saw him just standing there soaking soldier stomps and asked why he wasn't dodging. "What do you mean dodge?" he said...
True, jumping backwards π
lol
Used to jump higher.... But π’ we all know what happened to that
Balance. Balance happened to that.
Oh thats what we call it, noted π
I once tried only melee no bow run, long before Mistlands came.. It was interesting run tbh.
The only thing that hurts with no bows is fighting Drakes.
I reckon the best run you can possibly have, in terms of immersion is no portal no map
That was prob my favourite run
I can do no portal, but I need my map.
Nah, thats the most fun π
It was doable with throwing spears, unless you missed π₯²
Harpoon π
you can use bonfires against Drakes pretty well
just have to get the elevations right
i may try no map but will probs keep portals after first run, and MAYBE turn resoruces up to 1.5
DUNNO, almost done with Ashlands
i have too much to build and experiment with to start a new viking right now
indeed lol
Anyone ever find Fuling Villages, stand on a high ground, and rain Fireballs down on them, as if you are the Romans conquering barbarian tribes?
Yeah I saw in one video someone using harpoon to aggro some enemies to fight closer
I'm having problems with mods
Probably not updated yet, afaik they break with almost every patch
Which mode has the problem?
idk, probably all of them, folks in #mods-issues or #mods-discussion will know more
I think it would be crazy not to have bows for serpent and drakes especially but good luck no matter what, I think just deathless on hard is hard enough at it is
Yeah, that would be crazy. Harpoon could help with Serpents. Drakes are no problem with good aimed spear throw.
Does anyone remember when Winter was talking about seeds with the tallest mountains?
does dyrnwyn have the normal sword secondary attck
Should, given sword.
I usually skip Crude bow however, so I have time to think about that yeah.
Yes I do.
what? why?
think its a little underwhelming considering how much work it takes to get it
I build 1 of everything for the display hall.
it'd be cool if it had a unique gimmick to it
It's a sword that lights people on fire.
That's the unique part.
Crude bow does the job just fine, my last playthrough was on my existing character with 100 bows it was funny to see the crudebow aim so fast
hardly practical though, nidhogg variants just kinda overshadow it
Do you happen to remember any of the seeds? π¦ I am thinking of deviating from my normal seed for the first time ever... but I want to have one of those tall mountains in case I wish to mountain base.
or to mountain catapult off of
Would have to check the math. Fire DoTs do stack, so it is a fine weapon in its own right.
It's similar to Silver Sword though in being reliant on swinging as fast as possible to get the DoT stacked.
Dyrnwyn does a ton of damage, more raw damage than the other it just doesn't have a special effect, it's still a close second to the thundering one IMO
I do wish the Prep table didn't require Iron.
Because it makes the Meadows and Black Forest feasts useless by the time you can actually make them π¦
Don't remember the exact seeds but I remember the world gen map.
Dyrn rank 4 is 163 Slash, 10 Fire
Nid rank 4 is 153 Slash, 10 Ling (25% chance)
So... single-target Dyrn just outright wins.
Not really I liked having the ability to eat 3 different feast to chop wood, farm, etc
question, I have not played since the mistlands update, is ashlands solo as crazy as i am reading on reddit? For context, I was able to deal with the Queen solo without cheese on standard difficulty.
It is worse stats-wise.
Just longer duration.
If you could actually make the Meadows feast in say the BF (like just make the table cost Finewood) I would find that a lot better, personally.
you'd still need to have explored enough swamp to find the witch for the herbs
Ashlands was never crazy, people just bitch because they think a self-described "Brutal survival" game should be a cake-walk in the biome dedicated to war.
You'll be fine if you can solo Queen without issue.
Main problems on first landing will be you needing to manage what you actually keep in your pockets because there's like 12 new things that will chew through your slots very quickly. So having dedicated "I am getting this resource" runs become a thing to plan for.
You will be fine, make sure you rest before getting there and get there during the day
i see the early feasts as base building food. meadows + plains + mountains feasts, and i don't have to worry about food for a very long time while building.
It was pretty rough on the PTB just because the trees taking damage attracted anything around, but removing that and reducing the spawn rates has made it very much manageable for most people
It truly is just simplicity.
Like, Meadows feast is 35/35 stat for 50 minutes, but costs 2 Deer and 5 Boar
5 Boar is 30/10 for 100 minutes by itself.
So feasts really are a debate in terms of cost-effectiveness, and are outright worse in stats.
But they are simple for long duration, which is their niche.
right. i won't use feasts when i go out into the ashlands. i'll micromanage my food. i'll use feasts when i'm fucking around in the swamp or farming
Fair.
50 minutes multiplied by 10
?
AKA 500 minutes
each feast you make gets you 10 servings
π
YES
π€―
Feasts are balanced-stat foods so they allow a more specific balance of health and stamina to get exactly what your playstyle works best with
you plop that bad boy on a table, and you have easy, long duration food for days
-# sev no way you missed that
-# Sev missed that. When updating sheet all he saw was that they stack to 5.
they stack to 5, yeah. but each has 10 uses
in fact, i'm going to go cook another one. so far i've just done mountain and plains
it made me switch from the round table to the long table π
Good for resource and building runs.
Direct food still better for combat.
Dev team hits the balance point once again π
Uuuuuuh, are anyone else bee's not producing after this patch?
You canβt just fill up on the three feasts though, if you use magic.
before i would be constantly eating honey and crappy jerky around my base. now it's FEAST TIME
I like the stats, when you unlock them, I think they cost too little ingredients and make overall food too easy to achieve once you unlock them
yeah, i don't stay in mage build for lower level resource runs or building.
mistlands and ashlands feasts give eitr, however. just not much
Mistlands and Ashlands Feasts are meant to be the third food in a mage build.
I figured that. Havenβt killed Fader yet so I donβt have the Ashlands feast.
I will probably update the configuration tab to have EEF builds in those biomes.
Even at max stats, you canβt make a bubble on the 33 eitr from the ML feast
mistlands needing misthare supreme makes me not want to make it however. i never really get that much hare stuff
You need the hides for lightfoot anyway
Just tame the rabbits like we do IRL.
OH WAIT π
