Fair point, perhaps just better upgrades and designs?
Good for combat, not that much for exploration which would be the focus of asksvin in ashlands and feather In mistlands
The feather cape is still extremely good, yeah? The perks are pretty good
You mean stats? More armor, cold res and less combat stamina usage
that makes sense but i think it's an issue that a new player won't face, and we need to keep those in mind as well. we are only upset because something was taken from us, it's different if we never had it in the first place. personally, i would never see myself using those potions unless i was building? i guess? or maybe the jump height issue really does make traversing mistlands awful?
But feather is also very useful for building, and you can pair it with catapult to make no portal worlds much more manageable (even if way too into late game)
We were just fine traversing them before it got buffed ๐ no problems there
yall ever compare 100 jump skill to 0?
Yeah ๐
Itโs nothing to do with traversal, but Iโm used to fighting with buffed jump height in ashlands, and Iโm not able to fight as effectively there without it. Other biomes are fine because the enemies and attacks arenโt as tall.
gotcha
that seems to be a pretty niche issue, has this come up a lot? because i dont need to jump much in combat (mage here lol)
Maybe I jump attack a little more than I need to, but Iโm sure Iโm not the only one.
i love the feather cape because i can roleplay as a b52 bomber
Hare trophy drop rate to 20%, would that be a good change?
double jump mod go brrr
Yeah, few people complained, how much are those complaints about something practical or just because SOMETHING they liked got changed... i am not sure
What if they just added enchantments to the game? Allow each player to selectively apply enchantments onto their gear, some may be able to be stacked, others not... solely because everyone has a different playstyle. By using enchantments, you could effectively allow each player to use gear that suits them
speak of the devil
Yes, it would be perfect then. If all the ingredients can be consistently collected, there would be no possibility of running out of mead, which is the reason I donโt like the nerf.
They should just remove the hare requirement at all...
Also that's a question for the ptb channels
i feel like that would need a bit of an overhaul to the game's systems and intended path. gotta think about meadows, mountains, plains. the pattern seems to be: new biome, new fun stuff, so if enchantments are added i'd wonder when they would show up
Reach ashlands
I mean that makes sense too, but what if instead just made various versions? Like Mincraft potions xD
overall i think the mead issue will be settled as the player base gets used to the changes, though i see no issue with bumping the drop rate of the resource (unless its planned to be used in another, more helpful recipe)
In ashlands, flametal weapons can be crafted together with gems to grant certain effects.
it BLEW MY MIND when i learned that. really great addition to the game
i just like no fall damage. so i guess i won't care too much about the other change
i'll be a little sad, i'm sure, but i'll get over it
so in the way of enchantments, we have those gems. what if those gems could be used on every weapon throughout the game? say 2 per biome: plains maybe gives you a fire gem of some sort to make a sword with fire on it. food for thought, this isn't the suggestions channel ๐
I am in Ashlands haha
i think the intent is that the game adds more complexity over time.
we are running out of biomes ๐ญ
end result: update previous ones a bit to make recurrent playthroughs more varied and exciting
yep. the game is almost finished. i know, it's sad ๐
a ton of complexity in early game hurts the new player experience. you really would want a more complex "new game+" type thing
i like that you dont get magic until mistlands, but tbh im just gonna take whatever the devs throw at me because i love their game haha
oh same on the magic part
i was so excited for the mistlands when i replayed the game. i went in spoiler-free but had just an inkling of a thought that there might've been magic :) so i rushed that shit LOL
literally saw the word "eitr" and was like hmmm
- expanding your options as you progress
- introducing magic in the most fitting and overtly magical biome yet
- keeping a grounded feel to the earlygame
Remembers when the Mistlands was just barren land with webbed-up forestry.
keeping a grounded feel to the earlygame
exactly
so if they do add anything to previous biomes, im sure it will still stick with the theme
yeah. you start punching trees and making stone axes. you end with crazy fireballs and troll summoning or lightning berserker axes, crafting ballista and catapults lol
it's a great progression
"Grounded feel"
Considering you get dropped onto the ground to start the game...
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!
feels like working on a railroad then ending up like uhh that one guy with dual sledgehammers
the further you stray from the stones you were dropped off at, the less your environment looks like midgard~
Was going to start a new game for the Wog Bitc... wait ๐
But then I realized Deep North will again fuck all my world gen up, so will just keep what I got for now.
in any case, modders are gonna add magic from the moment you get off the crow and it'll be like a brand new game again with different progression ๐ im thinking something like terraria's calamity mod but for valheim
๐ค
That just makes Hugin seem that much worse, winged teleporting annoyance machine that he his
in all my thousands of hours on terraria i've still never touched mods
anyone who disabled hugin before mistlands, did you know we have another crow :( because i didnt until my friend just nonchalantly mentioned him and i was like WHAT WHERE
because Hugin keeps appearing on skulls, if you don't talk to him, you can keep smacking him and he'll reappear right back on it ๐
same actually. i prefer the progression of terraria untouched :)
literally from the moment i saw hugin i was like... where's munin. and i thought they'd never add him
oh yea they've been meaning to add munin in some way since before hearth & home
-# was expecting something a little more creative than just some of hugin's tips being given by munin instead, but more raven is more raven, i'll appreciate every bit of it~
just not that hugin has suddenly become kind of a dick
i want munin to hop by all the time and be like "you are doing well" or something not related to just tutorials/lore drops
i ignore hugin but im all ears for munin
some people are irrationally annoyed by the ravens
like wouldnt it be so cool to go back to your base and find munin waiting for you just to be like "i appreciate you"
Hi
the number of people who turn them off and then ask questions here that are answered by stuff they tell you... lol
oh oh oh i wanna point out that ashlands added a new bird - ashcrows
and they're white like munin! only problem is that it's a crow, not a raven, so i don't know what the relation there is, feels like kind of a missed opportunity for them to not be called ash ravens now ;v;
i didnt know about the ashcrows :)
i don't think i've ever seen ashcrows mentioned on this server, lemme see how many times it's been said..
...none.
i have been surprised by the birds in the ashlands and noticed them. kinda out of place
i've been wanting an inventory system overhaul since i started playing the game. still do, and i hope it's coming because there are just way too many issues with the limited space, lack of equip slots, and weight limits on top of it all. disabling auto pickup just to get your items back feels like a workaround. getting encumbered because corpse run let you pick stuff up is what killed me last and made me take another break
we corvids adapt~
i will however judge their choice of location to adapt to
LOL
tbf i was pretty distracted by the CHARRED UNDEAD ARMY that has harrassed me from the moment i stepped into there hahahaha
There was a conversation awhile back about whether or not smaller animals should be added to the game to make the environment more alive
consensus was no, this is purgatory. I still say the seaguls belong though freakin beach rats.
You can change the setting for your world so you donโt drop equipped gear, I play this way and itโs actually really nice.
i do this as well!
aha, Children of Ruin was about the super advanced corvids
it BARELY helps tbh
can someone help me out in the valheim help, id really appreciate it
Not trying to brag, but Iโve only died once since Iโve enabled it, so yeah I actually donโt have a lot of experience with it lol
it was once a normal realm like any other, hence why it has its own regular animals such as lox, necks, asksvin, hares, etc.
was just eventually cut off and repurposed into a prison for odin's enemies
because, thinking logically, the thing that killed you, killed you while you had your gear in the first place. keep equipment just protects you while you're on your way over, from shit like surprise wolves or seekers
i've played through the game past beating Fader, so far without changing vanilla settings. i probably will stubbornly stick with the defaults until beating the "finished" game, and then consider changing settings for future replays
Can I get a broom in my name? To the left of the flame.
the real issue comes when you get your stuff back and have to GTFO or fuckin fight like doom style lol
like that?~
Thanks!
real hardcore, real pure experience, i respect that
i would've not touched settings were it not for the fact that solo grinding for 4 players is a bit time consuming
more stubborn than anything really, but i got this far this way, may as well complete it this way
Anyways with that in mind, let's run down the list of what's here shall we?
Deer? All those honkers belong here, that sound is cursed
Boar? Murder machines
Neck? Brainless lizards, about as much grey matter as the draugr to begin with
Leeches? GROSS
of man, if you were doing all the busy work for 4 players, yeah, i would turn up drop rates for farming and such
i have considered bumping drops to 1.5x even solo. just was thinking about it last week
i did infinite build (im the main builder so i used to rely on my players to get resources at me so i dont have to go back and forth but they haven't been playing) and 1.5x drops
I run all mine on triple
difficulty in games REALLY needs to be talked about more openly, because there are solutions to the problems, but no one wants to talk about it because... idk. people get pissed when i talk about difficulty for some reason and i still dont know why
i think it's acknowledged that certain parts of the game have difficulty spikes. but everything becomes solvable with more experience and knowledge, and then much easier as you build that biome's gear/food
Current difficulty slider is fine
If they were to add more complexity to enemies' AI and new movesets it should be another, separate toggle that can be enabled alongside changing the slider
the thing is that everyone is different. everyone deserves and prefers a different amount of challenge. for most games (NOT all of them imo), you should be able to customize how much you want to suffer, be it MORE or less
so, options. and an open mind, because like i said before, people get too pissed when someone says "dark souls should have an easy mode" and even if you disagree it really shouldnt cause a fight
right. and valheim acknowledged that when they added all the world modifier settings. it was a good move
im mostly talking about the community
I especially have a problem with massive health pools
you mean the "gaming community in general" ?
yes, and the server here
Moder on v-hard? Arrow trash bin.
I donโt mind the damage of starred tanky enemies (trolls, charred warriors etc) but they take too long to kill
it's that weird thing that's like "you're playing the game wrong" and "how dare you have fun differently than me"
i dunno man. i think people here are fine with anyone using the settings. i think we're tired of people complaining that ashlands is too hard on default settings. if you're not having fun, then tweak the settings
you might be surprised. tell some rando you use infinite build and see what they say and mark it down. for me it's been 2 for 2
2 for 3, not enough people are here rn
it's a game. you paid your $20. you can have fun however you want
and it's basically a single player game really, so the way YOU have fun doesn't hurt how anyone else has fun
speaking practically:
- people have gotten upset that i use infinite build
it doesnt bother me; if someone tries to tell me im playing a game wrong i block them and move on with my life
because every time i bring up THAT people are like "dont be so sensitive ignore them" blah blah as if im seeking approval for how i have fun in my own game
meh. some people suck
indeed
but ive run into the problem for years. it's why i stopped joining servers like this. dark souls was BADDDD for a while and it took a LONG TIME for people to stop responding to every slight slight criticism with "git gud" and then micdropping
it's fine to use infinite build. i would say, if you're sharing some amazing build screenshots, to say that you are using inifiite build.
it's extremely freeing and fun. i dont have to dread building now and to make compromises conserve resources, i can experiment and build whatever i want
this server generally doesn't get so rude that "GIT GUD NOOOB" is the respons eo things ๐
they dont say git gud openly but they get pretty upset. i have a few screenshots
makes sense to me. and i think plenty of people build in infinite build mode and share their work
I've seen it more than a few times.
yeah, i said generally. it happens. but i don't think it's the default at all
because once we start seeing eye-to-eye on difficulty, maybe then we can talk about stuff like how moder is an arrow sponge and isn't fun in the slightest ๐ญ
without people getting PISSED
last time i killed Moder I used wolves. whatever
no you have to tell me im begging how do you make moder easier hahaha
so finding chitin is this just rng thing, hope i get lucky and find one while im sailing?
You will eventually see sooo sooo many of them.
step 1: tame 1star wolves. step 2: breed a lot of them. step 3: try to get them to the moder's altar, and lose a lot of them . step 4: curse. step 5: breed wolves at moder altar. step 6. waste a lot of time doing this and think you could have already killed moder. step 7. kill moder with wolves
because fuck me if im gonna sit there for an hour dodging a stone golem and just mindlessly flinging arrows at her. she doesnt even have very dangerous attacks, it's boring, and she keeps breaking. she ran away from me once. a lower healthpool would make other options more viable and cut back on the jank because as the fight goes on there's a greater chance for stupid buggy janky shit happening
easy mode
LMAO
are they mostly further out from my starter island?
i still want to go back and kill every boss with my asksvin.
i feel like moder is something of a meme lol
"anyone tried killing moder with catapults" was a question earlier
Not sure if there's a radius limit, but you do need to sail through oceans (as opposed to shallows). Sail enough and you'll find one.
hi
also bonemass is a well designed boss imo
fun and chaotic, a big piece of garbage, but i had fun beating him down with maces. took me too long to remember not to use bows against him
- eikthyr is fine. a good introduction to the game!
- elder is fun, bit easy. i dont get upset if i die to this boss at all
- bonemass says: "pay attention to the game mechanics or suffer"
- moder sucks ass
- yagluth............ nah
- queen was fun but took FOREVER to kill for my team (felt like a raid boss ngl)
- ashlands boss idk im scared :( (havent fought)
The zero-damage fight is a well-designed boss?
Eik - ๐
Elder - ๐
Bone - ๐ด
Moder - ๐
Yag - ๐ค
Queen - ๐ค
Fader - ๐
๐คจ
Is ๐ค better or worse than ๐?
Much better.
Looking at this I realize something
Yag was the first fight where I was like "Fuck yes. Now THIS is a boss."
Yag is the only one without....an E.
Yaegluth ๐
Iโd rank the bosses like this:
Fader
Yagluth
Moder
Elder
Bonemass
Eikthyr
Queen (sheโs a good boss but she killed me the second time I fought her, making her the only boss to ever kill me
)
Yes but Eikthyr has less health and damage than an enemy in the next biome
Like Eikthyr is a zero-damage fight too, but he's the first boss, so the odds of you making it through without damage the first time are low.
I know heโs the first boss, but he just isnโt a real boss.
He's good for introducing you to the concept of bosses.
Heโs the reason players are often underprepared for the elder
Players are the reasons players are underprepared for Elder. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Although, Elder do be fun when you're in the middle of fighting and a giant from the blue man group shows up.
Can you imagine if Queen was outside?
She's doing her seeker spawns and a gjall shows up? ๐ญ
Iโve seen a screenshot from someone else, she had fallen outside the dungeon.
I spawned her betweeen a triple-growth pit and a Fuling Village one time just to watch ๐
top to bottom, most-least fav or easiest to hardest?
No edits. Queen easiest ๐
faves with no regard for difficulty
- queen
- eikthyr
- bonemass
- elder
- yag
- moder
She is if youโre not spending all your eitr on skeletons like I was (not actually easiest but much easier). It was my first time getting into any challenging fight with magic and I had no idea what I was doing.
- Fader
- Moder
2.5 Yagluth - Elder
- Eikthyr
- Queen
- Bonemass
queen was a long fight for my party of 3. mechanically simple, just kept getting in a bad spot and getting harassed by seekers (i hate ads in bosssfights :( ). tbf i should not have let my other friend fight her, i kinda threw him in with the wolves. he had a lot of fun though
full thoughts on moder?
Oh if we doing ordered lists:
Yag
Queen
Fader
Elder
Moder
Eikthyr
Bonemass
Iโve always had a really great experince fighting her, feel sheโs really balanced and the fight is super cinematic. Iโve never had her get stuck on terrain or anything. (Moder)
Dragons are just cool ๐
Moderโs fight is a great way to end the first half of valheim, sheโs so much more than any boss youโve faced previously.
Hardest part of Queen my first time was I didn't bring enough weapons and they all broke ๐ญ
So I died trying to punch her because I thought she would just regen if I left.
Fader is way too epic of a fight to not have at number 1 for me lol
Bonemass is the only boss I actively dislike. Donโt like his resistances
He dies to wooden club pretty easily ๐
Fader also has the best theme
i feel like my moder fights have just been awful
Moder can be horrible depending on the geography rng.
Time for more lists?
I really love the music building up to him finally appearing. So cinematic
with how much i struggle in the ashlands, the fader boss really intimidates me
If you get a good seed that has a flat location next to her, you just wait for her to land and pound the damage in.
But if it's all... mountain-y. Yeah that's no fun.
the mountain i fought moder on last was pretty awful. she hit me a few times but kept running away and getting stuck on everything
oof
and i wasnt gonna search for another one because i already couldnt do the first one since it was surrounded by mists
Not fun.
Boss themes?
- Fader
- Elder
- Yagluth
- Eikthyr
- Queen
- moder
- Bonemass
Bosses aside, Mistlands that are high enough elevation to have mountain bits layered on top of the misty bits ๐จโ๐ณ ๐ one of the prettiest places to build.
Agree with this list perfectly lol
oh yeah my first mistlands had a mountain in the middle. it was nice, because id go up there and just be free of mist for a bit. was peaceful as hell
Really pretty views out your front door if you build up there.
And I say that as a Plains man.
I keep wondering how they're going to integrate mountains & deep north
Probably by removing mountains from DN
Frost Arrow v2 to continue it being the uncontested best arrow ๐
In what way? Theyโre completely different biomes.
Geographically
Rn you go up there and mountains are all over
Ah, see there are mountains and Mountains.
Yeah, almost as if the biome was not developed...
Wouldn't be surprised to see the devs fucking around with snow elements.
It'll be hard to make it too similar to Mountains though. It can't just be cold with occasional blizzards. And difficult terrain (snowshoes anyone) is just going to piss people off.
Hey I'd go for a fight against environment instead of enemies
Yeah but "ice stuff" is incredibly overdone in snow biomes.
Actual snow objects has a lot of different potentials.
Give me crevasses filled with frozen bees
I essentially suggested that
there's a concept of "the hottest flame" being found at the heart of the coldest places. so there's definitely room for creativity
dont remember what that's from and idk much about norse mythology
SO WE CAN SAVE THEM RIGHT?!?!
Absolutely
Ashlands was themed around fighting enemies, DN should be themed around fighting the biome itself

Iโm hoping for some lighting enemies in deep north
But doesn't mean combat would be removed completely
Heh, for the boss.
We have Moder and Fader, the dragons.
We have Elder.
So DN boss is Younger. Short fat lil tree boss ๐
i would love to see a complete switchup from the ashlands.
ashlands: enemies everywhere
deep north: dead silent, depressing. everything is dead except for the occasional (1) troll-level enemy or (2) scavengers (still need a way to make it hard obv)
oh, fader is... huh. im dumb
You no dumb ๐ซ
It doesnโt need to be just one boss
Careful. Remember, we do have a fire sword now...
It could be anything, but this is Valheimโs last chance for multiple bosses at once.
Like I said, I essentially suggested all of this already
I really hope a toboggan gets added.
yes i was agree ing?
i had the thought way before i joined this server anyways
Just commenting on that
I do find this intriguing.
That also removes the possibility of an ocean boss but meh
so its cool that you had a similar idea totally seperately, and that we ran into eachother. been having a lot of coincidences lately...
valheim ornstein and smough
Ocean doesn't need a boss, just being filled with stuff.
A mini boss, however, seems more fitting
wat was ur weapon of choice?
R-l--s- th- -r-k-n?
i really hope we get goat's in deep north
No.
Like a mega serpent?
skele summons and fireball staff, ice staff for ads as needed
oh actually
i switched to just hitting her with the fire dot then doing ice staff
we also forgot potions existed...
i was able to do great dps but had to keep stopping to help with ads. all in all it was a fun fight
Hopefully not.
At least, unless they give it unique movesets and behaviour instead of just "serpent but bigger and stronger"
Could have a leviathan rise up (those chitin shells)
I could get behind a hostile leviathan depending on how they do it
find a mon from norse religion
do we know ish when new update drops?
Well, it's in PTB now already.
insert horde of people who dislike magic users and believe only "true vikings" play the game correctly ๐
it's literally game about undead Vikings defeating dragons and giant trees, I don't think magic is much of a stretch.
Skeleton staff upgrade where you can raise your friends from the dead? ๐
iron bars gets damaged by eitir? (tthe green balls that shoots sparks
Why shouldn't?
Afaik everything pre-marble takes damage from it.
what i mean is, it's programmed that way currently/before
so it's a new change, if so--and not one in PTB notes or anything--hence, probs, bug if he expeirenced
metal or at least the copper & iron 'cage' build piecere also were one of the things immune to the eitr 'radiation' damage
i not saying it dose, i just wonder cuz idk XD
that's why this #screenshots message works
O!
No it doesn't take damage from eitr, did you see it do damage or is it just damaged? It does take rain damage down to 50% though
Experienced player coming to ask for curiousity: is there way to kill trolls faster than fire arrows?
At what stage of the game?
Knives.
Use fire. Stock up on wood and stone, equip your hammer, and place camp-fires at the troll's feet
Atgeir.
Sword/Axe + Buckler
was gonna say, no idea if it's the fastest, but i always do it with a flint knife and dodgerolls
too lazy to pay for arrows
Sneaking up and using a knife is a good way to get a chunk of health off
Knives if you get the stealth hit off are unmatched.
Anything with a parry bonus also wins.
Welp I'd day the fire arrows are way more handy there
half the time i don't even bother with the sneaking
Arrows work, but are slow unless you're returning with a higher-biome bow + better arrows.
Takes off big chunks off hp and can deal dmg in between
The spear isn't bad either, if you don't throw it
Atgeir probably fastest because pierce + parry.
What's atgeir
A weapon.
what's the benefit of dealing damage in between
I play on different language
It depends on the terrain and what your abilities are. I never mastered spears, but a friend is lethal with them
Two-handed spear thing.
What's a horse
We're talking early game here though
If you get distracted or if you want to keep dealing dmg 24/7
trolls are very weak to pierce in the head. flinthead arrows and aim good.
but that changes nothing
Type of vocal tone when one's throat is dry or injured ๐
double damage with the flint arrow.
instant damage is always gonna be better
I'd still say fire is more handy here
only if you're not aiming right.
Oh sweet thank you that sounds epic
I aim between eyes
๐
you get better dps if you can hit the head.
No, those are people you pay for... favors.
couldn't resist
I usually kill troll with 8 arrows at the beginning
When you find the translation for atgeir, give it a try.
Those are called me
Yikes! Wish I could do it that fast!
Ik it now but I meant before that
It's just one minute thing to kill troll
I'm better with camp-fires, or a knife sneak attack
Killing Elder with torches is fun.
My aim is terrible with the crude bow ๐คฃ
I actually keep the wooden club through the first 3 bosses
If you're good at sneaking, yes.
It is! Eikthyr too
I might have to try it out
I just craft spear and attack
Become Stealth.
I love knives!
they carry me earlygame, then mountains leave kind of a gap because the silver knife is a joke in terms of balancing relative to other silver weapons and while the knives after mountains are much better again, i always forget to give them a shot in normal progression
Wish they had knives late game
Spear is more handy at first than the bow
Deep North better have the wolverine claws mk2 is all I'm saying.
The spinning spear is good at mountains
i love that name for atgeirs
Language is fun.
I AIN'T MEMORISING THAT NAME ๐ญ๐ญ
oh you came up with a better one don't you worry
Atgeirs are one of the overall best weapons in the game.
Himmin afl
I'm kinda attached to my shield ๐คฃ
Himminmminminmmnim Afl?
Himmin afl is best mistlands weapon legit
Mr Drippy
same ๐ค
Jotun's Bane is a joke though ๐ญ
I love the Mistwalker
Gave my friend the himmin afl ๐ฅฐ
Yeah but we both know which is better when there's 10 ticks
Demolisher
Ooze bombs
yea i called the silver knife a joke earlier but at least that one still kinda feels like a post-swamp weapon
Great for ticks and fulings
Krom fucking slaps too.
But most people will skip it because of the bronze cost.
Actually the normal root armor can get through montains, plains and mistlands
Good name
You... give out Himmins?
Reason #1 I may try multiplayer.
Demolisher is amazing in infested mines. Really only bad against soldiers, and even then it can often cheese them.
Do it!!!
Fun fact: I got over 30 extractors working
Oh wow!
Demolisher makes the Ashlands simple.
But they still nerfed the biome like they always do...
LOL
i tend to only put up one and then abuse my endless well of patience to make do
We've had two new biomes. That's all.
You got patience? Gimme some!!
I have two. It's a portal free world and no more roots close by
2 for 2 still counts as always ๐
๐
gosh i wish i could, it leads to so much micro-procrastination
I don't think it's enough evidence. Besides, are you saying Ashlands didn't need it?
That's better than micro-transactionation!
Can ppl tell me is frostner still meta in ashlands?
Ashlands is both terrifying and addictive ๐คฃ
Mistwalker is just a straight upgrade.
It's decent but there are definitely better weapons.
ker-splat
Got mage level 100
imo it is still good
the knockback finally becomes useful for crowd management as you're now fighting enemies that won't take deliberate breaks between attacks anyway, and the stamina cost is significantly lower than any mistlands weapon's
Mistwalker is a little better than frosty, but the kickback is welcome
deep north has got to be what finally lays frostner to rest
Exactly my point
I carry both, until I get ashy weapons
Hardest of disagrees.
The addition of nuclear knockback on Frostner is a straight nerf imo and why I haven't touched the weapon since that change.
Frostner is really handy weapon wish I could make out with the guy who invented frostner
OG Frostner was awesome.
Then they massacred my boy.
i can understand that with fuling who will just dance around outside of your attack range for 80% of the time they're aggrod, but if you've got like 4 charred warriors walking up to you with no intention of taking a break, some knockback becomes very beneficial
It's still pretty good
I dunno, frosty got me out of plenty of pickles in the ashlands
You could actually hit your target multiple times.
Now you hit, walk, hit, walk, hit...
My weapon should not prevent me from killing things.
granted, i haven't seen post-nerf spawnrates so many new ashlands are so tame that frostner's knockback is kind of annoying again
I'm only recently back there again, so don't have much point for comparison either
It was completely fine before.
well, i don't know!
i just heard with patch after patch, things went down
The first nerf was too big, now it's a compromise between the two.
Why tf are fulings so damn hard tho fr?
They are made of blackmetal.
It was pretty brutal before, IMHO. I'm relatively new to gaming, and did a LOT of dying!
Like compared to seekers for example they are hard
~~i got my own kind of ashlands PTSD
~~
hoping to overcome that with scarlet this time~
You would not be in the majority with that opinion.
Welp I find seekers easy, killed 2 star soldier on ease
The worst part of Ashlands is just the massive jutting rocks that make sailing a pain in the ass.
Compared to the next biome's enemies they are not as tough, that would make no sense.
Fulings are fun. Seekers, not so much
With the biggest boat!
Seekers do look pretty with their starred colors.
Yeah, no idea why the boat is still so large.
I got 2 chests seeker meat
Seeker Meat? You mean free coal?
I had a pair of thundering berserker axes and it was probably quicker to go through a Fuling village with that than around it.
๐
I like the size for voyages, but not having to sail it around those rocks!
Which is literally its only purpose.
I know! Ugh!
It's 1:1 if you burn it, which makes it better than using the Obliterator.
Pity you can't burn blood clots too
Need to see if there is a devcommand for deleteobject specific to those spires.
๐คฃ
of course you can specify their ID with forcedelete
The water itself burns your other boats. Is that not barrier to entry enough?
Anyone has visited the 8th biome?
i'd give the ID but i don't have it on hand
If you find it, message me ๐
Try a no portal world. I'm still trying to get to my tombstone lol
mind that fracturable rocks (and other similar objects) have to be forcedeleted twice each because the first deletion replaces them with their fractured version
(thankfully the ID of the fractured object is the same name but with "_frac" at the end, so the same forcedelete specifications should catch it as well)
There's 8th biome coming tho
No portal?
But then you don't get the song at the end.
Just finished figuring the ashlands out recently, just wanted to say that i was NOT expecting stone portals to be a thing. They feel just... so strong. I mean with flametal being a thing, i get it. Probably for creative players too that dont like toting metal.
But really?? Metal teleportation??? Thats crazy
Stone Portals are OP.
Like why tell people metals aren't meant to be transported for balance reasons for YEARS and then add metal teleporters...
Real, i still can hardly believe it. After *years of playing without them then coming back after like a year break, its a big mindset changer.
Anything to say?
IKR!?
It was a welcome addition to the Ashlands, where sailing a boat full of metal through those spires would be no fun
to be fair, it's the second to last biome and the portal requires a stonecutter to be built - iron
Guess they ran out of glue when trying to stick to their guns ๐คทโโ๏ธ
It was perfect timing
Ive seen a lot of mixed responses about those spires since coming back, but they kinda saved me NGL.
My friend and i wanted to explore before beating queen, had no clue the water would kill our boat 0_0 managed to drop a portal on one before our boat sank to heat or fire damage.
everything up to mid ashlands remains free of metal teleportation, and it will no doubt stay that way
I love sailing around, but those spires
shudder
So the spires are the problem.
Fixable without adding overpowered tech.
The stone portals look weird, a little off from the valheim aesthetic imo.
The stone portals aren't that OP just a spare of time more like
O
P
Also big asf
Speaking of feather capes, ive heard rumours that they got nerfed on PTB?? Is that true?
oh gosh yea i dont even wanna think about making a stone portal hub
Im nhot a huge fan of feather capes myself, but i didnt think they were THAT strong.
The fact stone portals can link to normal portals is also dumb imo
but functionality remains 50/50 in such a case
This is something i agree with. The metal teleportation i understand, but them working one way (at least for metals) is strong imo./
They are really good. Ppl could fly across the map like superman if using catapult
True, I've never made one in the game besides trying it the first time tbh.
i had to add such a massive grausten box to my ashlands outpost just to keep that thing hidden
<- old enough to remember when Superman couldn't fly.
No. I like the spires. You don't have to use the portals if you don't want to. I think they're ideal. The size and the need for a stonecutter means they aren't so easy to cart around in your inventory, but they help in an isolated biome
I'm old enough to remember when Godzilla could XD
People like what they like ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Is it just me, or is grausten like absurdly expensive for building??
like 12 per wall is wild, they are the only reason i LOVE the lava slimes. Them exploding rocks or spires for me makes farming it doable.
not just you ๐ซ
Yeah, but there's so much of it.
I put a stone portal in each fortress I raid
Expensive building in a game with infinite resources? ๐
Still possible.
I built 378 castles each covering entire island
a wall made of stone that's literally thicker, and which's resource model is smaller than grausten's, costs a third of the material.
i think it's fair to find that a bit weird.
Grausten isn't infinite, though there's so much of it that I turn auto pick up off in the ashlands ๐คฃ
Okay infinite is fair, but im not personally a fan of having to venture much further into biomes or destroying their natural looks. Black forest is downright beautiful if you can ignore ogre cheeks every 5 seconds.
So hop through the unity into another world, farm the crap out of it and bring all the mats back to your world?
Wouldn't change anything
Stone portals aren't an issue as you can only get them once you've practically finished the game.
There's still one more biome to go.
Ye
That's why I said practically genius.
yea but i don't think they want metal hauls from the very ends of the world to be a focus like the earlygame ones were
I prefer to play each world in isolation to one another.
people already complain about those, i see no need to make them even longer at the endgame
We are different people ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Yeah this is an approach ive started using recently, but im still used to other Survival game mindsets where inventories are world specific.
More and more recently, when im low on hp in a duel, i find myself logging out and using a pocket dimension world to store heavy items, or healup, and it kinda feels like cheating yk???
It also resets debuffs, mead timers, etc. The rested buff doesnt carry over thankfully, but it feels kinda cheaty. Thats just my personal opinion though.
Maybe there will be new material that is more than metal and you cannot transfer it?
That's definitely countered by the size of the portal and the need for a stonecutter
Literally no need.
During combat log-outs are cheating, yes.
(But who cares? Given this isn't a competitive game)
But logging to farm mats, especially if you want your world "intact" is completely reasonable
Also
Yeah, I feel like I'm cheating doing it too.
Maybe it wasnt specific enough but:
Except why not just spawn them in then?
Different [pickaxe] strokes for different folks.
I'd prefer to have the challenge of doing it within the world I'm given, in a way that leaves it looking untouched
Valheim should have achievement that you get for killing grayling with the most powerful weapon in the game while having hp only based food
i needed so much stone for hvassfjallr i've scraped several worlds for it
what am i saying "needed", 120,000+ stone in and it's still not done
Some guy on YouTube killed a seeker soldier with his fists.
Called "long time no see lingling" XD
You haven't lived until you've front-kicked a Deathsquito to death while naked and on no food.
I also did
is there a ptb chat?
I had No clue what basalt bombs did when unlocking them, and the other bombs were rather useless so i didnt bother making them for like weeks.
All it said is something along the lines of "with enough heat, soldifies upon explosion"
There were times i would die in lava to askvin knockback, or lava pops, and i would spam die grabbing my stuff just to inch it closer to land.
That, spamming rafts on land and watching them burn so i could walk on them, or other dumb stuff. Idk, just didnt feel straightforwad enough yk?
I don't have the patience for that ๐คฃ
check id:customize to gain access to it if you can't see it
irongate looooves breaking their game LOL
In the middle of reading this I said "bless you" reactively.
Aside from that, anyone else have problems with the Flametal pillars being buggy?
My himmin afl was broken so I jumped over it to hit it's juicy ass each time
Sometimes they escape
Haven't done one since the update
I noticed after dying while mining one, that my tombstone got glitched inside of the Lavaithian (what the wiki calls the unbreakable part of the pillar in the center of the mineable flamatal)
On top of that, i got unlucky and it didnt sink into the lava after mining all the ore, so my stuff was just unreachable.
Agreed
I still have no access to the channel
What do seeker soldiers have in their ass tho??
you didn't grab the public tester role
At least, for players that "dont" rely on the wiki. I try to avoid it so i dont spoil new content. Went into the queen fight pretty much blind, and both the sound design and dungeon aspect with summons blew me away.
MUCH cooler than eikthyer and stuff.
Not orange cum?
Ew.
Not sure that's remotely clear.
Or they are like bees and all nearly all of them are female.
Exactly
Including the soldiers.
Yeah, totally! Men love to stamp and stomp and announce their presence ๐คฃ
To win over the quuen tho
It would make sense you know
I've had one narcissistic partner, I don't want another
Use kratos instead
If battleaxes didn't have such a long windup...
Crystal Battleaxe would actually cook in Ashlands.
Shut up ๐ญ
My Duo and i wasted our first like, 2 bloodstones on weapons not knowing what they did because they were NOT clear.
The troll summon wrecked one of my builds and he felt terrible (he is the one running mage).
It was funny as hell though seeing him drop astroworld on my shed, and seeing tools explode from wall mounts.
and it takes 3 of their heads to get her to appear?
Hm?
So go get more iron. Part of the fun is to play with all the different weapons and armour, even if some don't get used much
I did that lmao. When me and my group played I was swapping weapons every zone.
I really wish we recorded more of our sessions. We have some golden clips like him spamming rafts with all of our wood and boar scrap to help me get my tombstone from lava ๐ we are dumber than rocks
Rocks are laughing at u rn
I love the fun of laughing at someone trying a new weapon, and we give them nicknames too. It's a hoot!
We wasted, like 450 wood and i still didnt get my stuff back since the boats were glitching into the ground
hey, i heard something about 450 wood
dont remind me dude ๐
In meadows and Black Forest I used aetgir, in the swamps and mountains I used the crystal battleaxe, in the plains I used a sword and shield, in the Mistlands I used an arbalest, in the ashlands I used a mace and shield.
I don't consider any of it a waste of time.
So I just had about 20-30 skill in almost every weapon group.
@thin glade
Nah you dont understand how funny this game is though @pearl cloak
We played blind so our first playthrough, we drop into the mistlands by accident. He falls into smoke, and i hear SHRIEK before i see him running up a wall with a giant bug running after him, then one shotting him. I was WHEEZING.
The spires tho, they are the real funny rocks.
Einsteins compared to u
*you.
reminds me the first time i fought a stone golem. ended up crashing through the roof of some shack in the meadows lmao
The fuck did I do tho? ๐ญ
Damn why my playthrough sound like heaven compared to Yall we had our struggles but we had like dedicated team members for certain tasks so we like never ran out of resources ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
By Ashlands we were rolling in it ๐ญ
Funny story: when we first got to the ashlands my Mixers audio was bugged. Because of a recent update, i couldnt hear unity audio.
Our first gjall spawns, and he starts freaking out because he can hear it and i cant. I ask him to describe it, he did NOT do a good enough interpretation of the danger i was in before i got my back blown out by 120 damage.
I once spent 2 days getting my stuff back
Rest in piece my boar farm tho, the bat spawns got em all
We would go on massive 2-4 man expeditions for ore and resources.
I was one of those noobs last December, with someone who was patient and didnโt rush me and who let me find a lot of stuff out on my own. What got me hooked was the ability to go at my own pace, and the desire to earn my weapons and armour without being helped. I'm now over 2500 hours down, and I still play daily
OH NO I GOTTA GO WALK MY FISH
YOU STIR THE CAULDRON
proceeds to lose the first batch of 2 star wolves i saw in 50 hours ๐
Tf2 pyro?
I love farming and cooking and building. But I also love exploring
Yes
muffled screaming love that TF2 halloween event is semi enjoyable now, with the bot changes being made
Gjall are just.....no words
I love enslaving graylings
The ragdolls you can get with the wizard shotgun is just chefs kiss
I must do that on my solo world! It's so lonely without others there
We have a perch in our meadows base JUST for bringing them as high as we can before ragdolling them
Killed one using frostner
I hate it ๐คฃ
ITS SO UNBELIVABLEY WEAK
BUT SO UNBELIEVEABLY FUNNY
I love the plant magic staff
Agree
ON ODIN THAT THING NEEDS A BUFF
Odin is a stalker ๐คฃ
What's scariest encounter with Odin for you guys?
none, wilds lol
Wolf fang
When he appeared every 5 minutes (it felt like) for an entire day
Fireball
i remember testing it with my mage friend @nimble hawk ,
we wanted to see the damage amp on Nidhogg blood version, so i hit him and 1 shot him by accident (mage foods weak)
I cost him 2 days of blood magic leveling in 5 seconds ๐
HE SLAMMED HIS DESK SO HARD HIS PC CRASHED AND THE WORLD CLOSED LMAO
Probably wanted to remind me to eat ๐คฃ I keep forgetting
I once saw lighting and turned looking at there and shit my pants seeing Odin watch me ๐ฅต like damn how the lighting did it
It was the first lighting of the storm I mean
THATS WHAT IM TELLING HIMN. FIRST TIME WE EVER GOT AN EGG TO HATCH THE CHICK IMMEDIATELY DIED TO THE CAMPFIRE AND WE STARTED YELLING AT EACH OTHER FOR A DIVORCE
Hugin got so irritating that I turned him off after he pestered me the entire time I was trying to tame some lox
Hugin keeps sexually harrashing me
WE QUIT PLAYING FOR A YEAR OVER THAT
IM NOT KIDDING, THATS WHY WE TOOK A BREAK AND DIDNT SEE ASHLANDS WHEN IT DROPPED
so do it back
So many caps...
i was so confused coming back the the game after a year and finding out that they made hugin sassy now lol
In the ashlands, he kept hiding in the flametal spires
Built the bath and instantly jumps in with me when I was naked there
Munin is way more sassy than Hugin.
Yeah
hugin talks about his brother like he will never amount to anything in life, such lip
One of my friends died by eating too many bukeperries when he was sitting in the bath
whos munin
"my lesser brother munin"
Hugin did bad things
The other raven.
i havent found em yet
The third dragon
Huh?
Late game
Idk
Then why say it?
Mistlands, I think, is when Munin appears
I'm evolving:(
Yes
Speaking of tissue,
we found the mistlands before making black metal pickaxes....
we both fell into a giant skull mouth and damn nearly softlocked ourselves because we couldnt jump out ๐ (water debuff+no foods made running up the sides like IMPOSSIBLE.)
when should i go the mistlands? im preparing for moder rn
I'm fairly sure you think you're being funny. It's not working.
I did that too!
Imagine 10 star eikthyr attacking your base
You have a whole other biome to go before then.
Glad to know im not the only drillbit here that fell in by mistake
meanwhile my duo saw me go somewhere without him and said audibly "Wait for me!" before going silent and staring up for 5 seconds straight before panicking
love the fact that you can find out which part of the mistlands have had magic hungry gremlins by checking troll skulls for holes xD
When you are ready
I also got myself stuck in a rock crevice with no food left
the plains and mistlands right
Yep.
ty
I got my tombstone stuck in hole with 3 starred seekers and no stairs....
Im convinced the wizards are just actually insane. No way you can eat centuries old rotting meat, and slurp on hallucinogenic tree sap while maintaining braincells above double digits.
I also built a bed under a roof that was too low, and when I died, I got stuck in the roof and had to punch my way out while trying not to attract a nearby gjall
So hardcore schizo that they do magic irl
I STG: Everytime this guy uses his skull in combat all i hear is:
SKELTON SO GOOD IT GOT A SEQUEL!
Lol
we think we've somehow learned to cast magic meanwhile odins watching a couple of vikings tripping after eating strange shrooms raw
I failed. The gjall blasted my bed and me to pieces, and I then had to sail all the way from spawn to get my body
Yeah
His headcannon is that the skeletons dont actually die since he can just... yknow revive them. They just get benched until he brings them back.
My food body slammed me
just bones that learn how to parambulate until they lego death sound effect
Oh yeah
We didnt know battering rams were a thing either. so we just BUILT our way over the fortress walls while being shot at.
After somehow managing to beat the warlocks after dying at least 7 times, i jumped inside the center tower and got stuck.
AND THEN SAVED MYSELF USING THE POWER OF MINECRAFT (we found out if both players dig on either side of the door, you can go underneath).
WE BEAT THE GAME IN WAYS ODIN DIDNT EVEN KNOW WERE POSSIBLE
I still dont know if its an intended feature since it can only be done with two players working together. You cant dig yourself out without 2 people, or at least having the other side of the hole preestablished.
again, soooooo many rafts used as couch cusions for the worlds most realistic game of floor is lavas. up until this point bombs were pretty useless everywhere, how were we supposed to know they'd be a near neccessity this time lol
So, what's the worst mob you've had chasing you? I had an abomination, three wraiths, a draugr and a skeleton, when I was in swamp gear. Three bonemaw serpents at once when I was going south around a mistlands landmass. And two trolls, two greydwarf brutes, two greydwarf shaman, and a horde of greydwarves when I was trying to find Haldor early game
i learned about bombs and made like 30 smokes, started spam throwing them at the warriors, only to find out 9 bombs in that they dont do damage to the skeletons ๐
i was promptly one shot for my ignorance.
Bile bombs are excellent weapons in Mistlands.
i tried em, found the firestaff to be much more reliable
I tried those bombs against anything I could ๐คฃ
i burned myself to death many times with the bombs lol
How? you can't damage yourself with them..
I heard they were for putting out fires, but I can't recall where I heard it
An enraged troll that crawled out of my shed, which was nearly caved in by an Astroworld metor summoned by my Tree sap and Mushrooms addicted mage duo.
All things considered, could have gone worse. I only died 2 times to them, unlike the time he left me in the fortress with 2 warlocks after stealing the jade and running off.
IM LOOKING AT YOU @nimble hawk ๐ซต
YOU STOLE THE JADE, AND I ALREADY APOLOGIZED FOR ASTROWORLDING YOUR FORGE
Oh!! Those are mean! I had to try and kill one that some muppet had unknowingly created when playing with the magic weapon he'd found lying around
YOU DIDNT REPAIR A SINGLE THING YOU DOLT
NOT LIKE ID TRUST YOU TO AFTER WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME.
YOU BUILD LIKE YOU HAVE DYSLEXIA, IVE SEEN SPHAGETTI STRAIGHTER THAN WHAT YOU DID TO MY FORGE LAST TIME
Gees guys! It's only a game ๐คฃ Calm down and stop yelling, lol
I LOVE THIS MAN
That's because they do almost the same thing. They are both projectiles that do AOE damage, I meant more for when you're not using a fire staff (i.e melee build), it's great at breaking down seekers health, straight up killing swarm of broods and ticks, etc.
Though I suppose if you do a mage build, you might not have ever tried the basalt bombs, and I can understand wanting its use being more explicit.
ahem,
apologies, the tinnitus from dundr makes voice control iffy at times
make no mistake, but goodness he makes me think about why i didnt get into checkers or soemthing sometimes
It is definitely not a quiet weapon!
its a funny one for sure. useless on anything less than the mountain unless its raining, but i do love sending creatures to another timezone
I prefer sneaky ways to rebel against my gaming buddy's disrespect. He failed to keep my chests all tidy, so I scattered all his armour through my huge collection of chests ๐คฃ
Nothing quite like running into the stone portal while being chased by askvins, only to be BRIEFLY one shot from behind because your magecap addicted mage is getting his fix in the mistlands ๐
also anyone else annoyed at the eitr drain mechanic on it? if you sprint in unloads like an arbalest, but at least the crossbows let you keep your ammo!!!!
if you keep having to hop around you dont get a single drop back!
Oh whats that??
YOUR FRIEND DOESNT ORGANIZE THE CHESTS!? I COULD NOT IMAGINE WHAT THAT IS LIKE.
Not like i wake up to STONE AND RESIN BEING IN THE FOOD CHEST
for real though, greydwarf drops
all the time, in my food chests
Dundr should totally be made with iolite, like why the lightning staff not made with lightning gem. We could have had a staff for each gem then, and bloodstone is used for more things than the other ones anyway
He also left his cart right in the walkway we both used, so I moved it into his bedroom
my duo and i had a whole discussion about that
it makes no sense, mage Bloodstone should do healing or something like that
Like takes health from caster to heal allies or something
It does. Just in reverse
I love the fire thrower staff and the vine one
i was so dissapointed when i found out iolite was useless for mages. and seriously. for a whole bloodstone dundr does nothing better than your other options. its only good stat is comedy
Ah yes, THE HOME OWNERS WORST ENEMY.
My landlord will RUE THE DAY HE INCREASED RENT BY 50$ A MONTH.
TROLLSTAV
๐คฃ
i dont know what i was expecting, but it was not fat suit travis scott
Same brother, same
I feel like the only reason dundr is made with bloodstone is just because they wanted it red or something
my brother in christ, all i heard was "ASTROWORLD" and then i saw him one shot my pen of chickens,
i could hear the sicko mode snippet play in my head as he tore up what was left of my fence.
Probably tbh
Funny thing Iolite is probably the best for melee build.
Its funny, dont get me wrong. But i feel like they forgot the thunder stone existed.
It feels USELESS.
Yes, let me smelt 10 items for 1 coal, when i can just overcook boar meat and get 1 - 1 ratio.
thunderstone got ratioed by 5 stone and 2 wood lmao
i love being scammed into thinking the trade deals offered by inanimate objects outweigh my lack of Culinary School education
Real though, i love this game to bits. I just have a few criticisims here and there, but i have hundreds of hours in it for a reason.
agreed, easy top 5 games i've played, top 3 survival in particular
Idk man, renting on minimum wage could give the ashlands difficulty level a run for its money.
honestly most of the weapons from the ashland that i got as a mage felt underwhelming compared to previous power scaling, only one that really felt impactful was the staff of wilds.
like, the insane amount of util through the bloodshield was game changing, and it feels neccessary just to survive as a mage
Real, and at the stages i unlocked them, NONE of the greatswords felt worth the stamina tradeoff/mobility loss.
One handed swords just provided more consistency, for much less drawback.
my goto plan is popping eikthyr and then gaslighting my mage duo to stay and fight while i take my fenris gear and run off
Depends on what you mean by viable
Yes it is
If you mean, tanking as a melee? No. But if you mean using it without getting one shot, then yes. Especially if you have ashen cape, the armor is insane.
Plus, the flametal helmet gives insane armor with no MS pentalty, so you only lose the Fenris helm bonus rather than taking an armor penalty
I don't know anyone who is tanking with fenris armor, even in Mountains. But you can do Flametal Helm and Ashen cape to compensate for some armor and do HHS food to not get killed immediately.
Yeah this, tanking with it isnt really doable, even in mountains the wolves will pop you just by looking at you.
But the MS bonus from the chest+legs are often too good for me to turn down in ashlands.
Not HAVING to fight any morgan i see is nice, or askvan, or anything that can outpace my grandmother on a mobility scooter (as thats marginally faster than tank armor full set).
this, so many people forget that helms rarely change anything except armour
Love the carapace helm description:
"People may say you look like a giant bug, but they will only say it once"
or something along those lines lol
I actually think it's easier to defeat Fader with 2/3 fenris armor than full flametal.
Full flametal is pretty dont get me wrong, but mobility in combat (for most games i play) is my preferred stat
often i find not getting hit, more useful than being able to not instant die from a hit
I HAVE BEEN BEGGING, FOR AGES, TO HAVE THEM MAKE MODER POWER WORK WITH ASKVIN CAPE ON LAND
HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE!? AND IT WOULD BE MORE USEFUL, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT BOATING METALS BACK IS LESS USEFUL IN THE LATEGAME WITH STONE PORTALS
It mitigates the RNG nature of the cape by giving you control in combat, trading off the flat armor of Ashen for EXTREME mobility in when the power is used.
Or even outside of combat, when gathering forageables. Or exploring land while looking for POIS such as putrid holes or etc.
Using it while doing chores in my base feels so jank. Ill go from walking to sprinting like im being chased by a polar bear on mtn dew.
That would be OP. Moder works as there's a cooldown, there isn't one on the cape.
yes but both are needed for this to work... so modor having a cooldown already prevents its constant use
When the new update comes out do i have to restart to get the new trader to show up on my map?
As long as you have unexplored Swamps you should be OK.
alright thanks๐
Is there an aplication process for the tester role or do I just ask in open chat and wait?
Just click the button in Channels & Roles.
hmm hey guys, is there anyway to get back system where ashland enemies swamp you?
Like get your stuff back?
I donโt think so, I donโt think that build is available
Hey I just Built my first greydwarf farm and everything is done but they wont spawn, any reason why?
- no place to spawn, meaning your farm have flaws
- maximum spawn cap, meaning you haven't kill them
What do the "Love Potion"s do? I can't for the live of me figure it out.
They also just look like deformed turnips.
Morgen gjall.
Put it into #valheim-help with the question.
Good morning Warriors and Builders
any big valheim server that is open for everyone?
No, servers are private and only hold a maximum of 10 people. You can try joining one in #1024264966712340510 though.
ah okey
sad that it isnt designed so that there also can be more than 10 people on a server:(
Why? It's a solo player game
would be cool to see different groups living around the valheim world
If youโre playing as a separate group, why not have a whole world of resources for yourself?
Thereโs also only one sacrificial stones.
true still think it would be cool
Have you tried MMOs? They have that sort of thing.
No whats that?
Games like world of warcraft for example, Masive Multiplayer Online games
ah
The devโs must makeup their mind here ๐
They still have lorestones hinting at 20 player groups ๐
I mean, I donโt mind a big party of people, but having to build 4 longboats just to island hop - not to mention all the materialโs youโd need for armor and weapons - gives a quiver in my liver ๐คฃ
Which runestones?
Same question as Rianu, which runestones?
Iโll find it for you when Iโm back from work ๐
Itโs one where there was a large group of 20 that got whittled down to 2 members.
The runestone kicks off where the 2nd last member is dying from a draugr arrow and the last member is going after moder
found the one on the wiki ^^
Few of us found our way to these mountains. We were twenty and now we are two. Agda is dying, a Draugr arrow lies near her heart. I will bid her farewell beside this stone and give her ashes to the wind. Then I will turn my face to the highest peak and seek out the Winged One. May Odin give me death or glory.
Thatโs the one!
How scary to be doing a hardcore playthrough like that
Imagine having 20 people when you start playing.
How many would make it to the Ashlands I wonder? ๐ค
That may depend at how well most of them are with fly swatting. ๐
interestingly, there's also a group of seven mentioned on a Swamp runestone:
You who pass, remember me. I am a man whose home was once in the mountains of Midgard, carried here when I thought to earn my rest, to find a life after life in Valheim. There were seven of us before the Greydwarfs came. Now Odin will not hear me and the seas refuse me. Soon this stone will be all that remains.
Mmmmmm.
I recons that 90% will die to bugs.
Plains or mistlands guarnatee ๐
Recklessness may be of influence too.
I like those runestones that tells stories about someones beards. Can't remember which ones tho.
When doesnโt it? ๐คญ
and the Forsaken are vanquished by many before, again and again. So perhaps Odin's enemies are never truly defeated ๐ค
Otho and Bjรถrn ๐
Like running into a burial chamber or sunken crypt, thinking you can handle things as you've done that so many times when playing solo and then running into that bone spawner and the 2 one star archers........
They went in after eating honey, sausages and cooked boar meat without Rested buff.
That was funny!
Two dudes trying to impress a woman ๐
Those ones!
5 would already die from tree deaths in the meadows ๐
Didnโt one of them have to carve a runestone to admit defeat?
How humiliating ๐
And another 3 from falling down the roof of the house, while not having eaten.
Odin's mightiest warriors
oh hey that's me! ๐
Yeah, considering that the forsaken are more forces of nature than anything else, it makes sense
And don't forget the "big mountain decimator", aka "You are being hunted"
Odin facepalms again ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
at least 1 person will drown by being greedy at a leviathan
Odin glares at Hugin

I think if we start adding all those numbers, we're going to end up at -35 players to reach Ashlands eventually. ๐
Hugin starts preening and pretends to ignore him
drops a silver necklace in an iron cage chicken coop
Have bop witch update came out to live server yet?
Noooo
Currently on PTB patch.
Still has bugs on it.
It's been 2 days...
Am I blind or there is no #1202313396356128808-public-test channel (where it is recommended to leave public beta feedback)?
In the roles channel, if you select the "I want to be a tester" role you get access to the PTB channels.

wats estimated time on nxt update out?1/2/3/4/weeks?
When it's ready. ๐
@torpid python lets not do that when someone gave you the only answer we have, yeah?
is that an answer?
yes, it is. the update will be out of PTB when it's deemed ready, whenever that is
Always fun when the most accurate answer gets a clown emoji response from people who don't want to hear the truth ๐คทโโ๏ธ
And so it continues.
@torpid python this is your only verbal warning, the clown emojis are not appropriate and in accordance to our rules
Sure, but I assume there's some sort of precedence on what's typically the delay between PTB and release. (I mean, that's what I came here to ask). Like, when the previous significant update hit the test server, how long did it take for it to get released? It would at least give a rough estimate in the time scale, weeks or months
where in the rules it states it cant be used?
Dude don't be a stick and argue with mods, what's the best case scenario you think will follow?
first part of rule 1, along with the ending to the rules: Moderators may enforce rules at their own discretion
i dont see anything thats states he use of Clown emoji in the rules
So what happens when "3 weeks" is the reply, but then 2 weeks from now a game-shattering bug happens that takes an additional month to fix?
Then you have to deal with "BuT yOu SaiD 3 wEEks" due to completely unpredicatable things that some people will understand, but the vocal people don't care about.
So the easier path, and the more accurate path is "When it is ready."
adding clown emojis to a message of someone giving you a legit answer is not being polite
well if u stated that say 3week i would of waited 3weeks and checked back then
Ye, and that's understandable. That's why I asked about what was the delay between the previous update ๐
You've been in the server less than a day and you're arguing with mods...
Forgive me for doubting your statement of "I would be rational if you had lied about when the game will be ready."
Even if the last ptb took three days does not mean every other that would follow would last even remotely the same.
So answering "when it's done" or similar is and will remain a valid answer, because no one can predict the future
anyway, lets drop this. An answer was given, not much point pushing the topic
Anyone could tell you "a couple of weeks" but for whatever reason it ends up being months, meaning that the answer was meaningless
Why push a topic when one can punch birds?
๐ค๐ฆ
Indeed.
The best I can do is poke them with my atgeir, can't get to punching distance
You get points for the attempt!
ppl can get Salty so fast
Sadly you cant actually punch them anymore. Dvoid fixed that, at least partially because of me lol
Damn.
Just take the L and move on...
its a W for me ๐
So your goal was trolling?
Well good thing hyper can easily see this one. I shouldn't need to report
just drop it
any further discussion on this, and I will have to start taking action.
Me and my friends finally beat the queen and have the boat to get to the ashlands, anyone have recommendations on what gear to bring??
Bring the feather cape, the jump height is very helpful for the combat there because the common enemies and their attack hitboxes are taller than in previous biomes. Also bring fire resistance barley wine to override the capeโs weakness.
If you have a silver sword or mistwalker, both of those are good for the charred
I recommend the Mistwalker
I would recommend taking stacks of stone and 7 iron 5 copper and a couple stacks of wood also. Building an outpost with raised earth may be helpful at landing depending on the area.
Bring the best you have and brace yourselves, eat best foods and carry some metals with you in boat.
Donโt forget the materials for a shield generator to keep your flammable portal safe
Practice tight turns with the drakkar lol
Paddle only mode ๐
lol. That thing is a damn whale. As soon as I had a beachhead in Ashlands I left it behind
I actually do wish I did more sailing time with that boat before attempting to get there. Granted, it is a one and done boat.
Well, im going to have a lot of time sailing. Base is very far from southern part of the map
thanks this is all helpful
Good morning
Bog Witch isn't out of PTR right?
No, it's literally only just gone into testing.
word. just saw a bunch of YTs and got excited
yall, we can all agree that bonemass theme is the best boss theme in the game
like, fader and queen might have cool themes, but nothing beats bonemass theme in my eye
i like yagluth's
I like the Queens and Faders boss music the most. Queen theme has that terrifying ambient with strings doing that clicky sound on the background and Fader is just pure death metal ๐ค
Nope, sorry people. This is misinformation
lol
i'm quite a fan of the Elder's ๐
I dunno, Yag's is a pretty solid banger
Any of you a decent suggestion or tip for building a caster?
I'm currently at Mistlands, about to enter Ashlands
I don't think so, in my opinion, Yaglut has the best boss theme
If you get lucky enough you can but it is really rare ๐ (i got one with a pickaxe the other day)
True, I suppose it is technically possible, just not in my old method
which was literally walking/sneaking up to them and WHAK
Ok so
I used to punch birds in valheim for fun just because it was rather easy and really funny
And as for Asatru
I watched him live in a vc finish off a drake with his fists
blasphemy!
Hyper, puncher of necks? ๐ค
Bog which and all of its content will be on YT real fast ye. That's just how it works when stuff hits PTR ๐คญ
Most content is heavily spoiled for me... because I can't help myself, but can't play for now ๐ฌ
nah, just hater
It just happened because the drake had the slightest bit of hp left after poison from poison arrow ended ๐ + i was on a roof of my wolf breeding pit so i have just gone and punched the sucker ๐
hmmm
Well, i dont really know ๐
I could give you nickname with something about rats in the meantime. Only mods and helpers can change nicks, so just lmk
And devs ofc ๐
i'm of course also available for that, and always pingable~
-# may be asleep or busy, but that won't upset me
Same here pretty much
we both just established that's fine
lol, all good
Swim from Ashlands to Depp North
Donโt even think about touching the asksvins, great grandparents of the necks.
both sounds like quite the task XD
i may not have been the first as i learned later, but i figured out some interesting patterns about valheim's worldgen pretty much on my own, and then used that knowledge to actually be the first to catalogue the average heights of almost all mountains you can get and find the tallest 3
...i realize that context makes no sense because i just temporarily changed my title to match scarlet's
it was previously 'Winter, Mรณรฐir of the Mountain' and will be that again unless scarlet and i keep thinking of cute matching titles
You would need A LOT of stamina potions xD
no code diving was involved though
compared loads of seeds to each other after an odd pattern stuck out to me on a screenshot i saw of someone else's map
it looked almost exactly like my first-ever world in terms of its island shapes and mountain placement, but the mid-land biomes were all mixed up
so eventually i figured out that island shapes are not entirely random and there's a 42x42 km area of them your world is randomly placed upon.
pffff~ good luck!
(if a mountain looks like this on the map for example, that's the second-tallest you can possibly get! it's got an incredibly steep southwest side and a dual-peak above the clouds.
the island shape is generally the same as well, but swamps distort shores due to how they generate, and the center of the world can make islands unrecognizable.)
the first-tallest i'm confident not many people have encountered.
by sheer coincidence, it's near the middle north end of the available area, so already the chances are not great for your world to land on a spot that has it, and even if it does, it's always gonna be in the northern third of the world, so you gotta sail to have a chance to find it.
and since deep north isn't out yet, that is the least rewarding end of the world to sail to at the moment
sure!~
Can someone shorten witch update? And describe it?
You have the correct role, you can go ask in #valheim-public-test and you could also play it yurself ๐
Guys. Why do I do this.
New run, character & world, unmodded, v-hard combat, 1x resource rate.
Nice.
NOT NICE
I do increased star rating but with raids off.
So your base is safe, but if you leave you had better be ready for the pain.
i'd say there could be an easier tracker for whether auto-pickup is on or off than checking the message log, that place is for so many other things than just auto-pickup
personally i just press the toggle button, if it's what i wanted, i press it again
My only accomplishments are spreadsheets ๐ญ
got a title idea for that?~ :>
Wish you could tag specific items to not auto-pickup
Do fish respawn?
they spawn randomly
When I had Nitro I was Sevrahn, Marg-Sparkr iirc.
want that back?
Uh... no. If you're offering title lemme look something up and get back to you. ๐
But my free coal ๐ญ
as a hoarder, i pretty much only use that feature for corpse runs
So let's say I catch all the fish in my local fishing hole. Are they going to respawn randomly over time in different places or will my same fishing hole eventually repopulate?
mostly in different places, but sometimes the selection of valid spots to spawn on is pretty narrow
goes for all enemies, part of why people believe stone golems and abominations have fixed respawning spawners
(granted, fish are an exception in that they're technically items)
if your fishing hole is already densely populated by fish, then there's a decent chance it's a good area for spawn attempts in terms of elevation and terrain shape
Does anybody ever climb up the pillars of the Elder arena to train block (late game)?
Why climb?
Puts your right in front of his thorns attack
He tends to miss a few if you're on the ground
Be on the ground. Be close to him. Position yourself between multiple Roots.
More consistent than his ranged attack.
If you're up there it's his only move
And no long pauses between attacks.
He doesn't stomp
So?
Block the stomp and block the fact multiple roots are hitting you.
You just sit there with a tower shield taking less damage than your natural regen.
Damage has no bearing on skill gain
I've done both his ranged attack and the melee, multiple root way.
I find the root method more consistent.
I'm aware.
Gonna have to build a scaffold though, he gets close enough to you he just does nothing, have to move across pillars...
is the shirt icon on the map the other trader?
It still faster on the ground afaik.
Optimally you tank multiple roots and the ranged attack. But if you don't want to move tanking melee + roots works just fine.
Yes.
thanks c:
||soon to be "one of them"||
Rad ty for the detailed answer
someone who would like to join my world to continue towards the new expansions, I'm going through the silver age but there is still a long way to go :D.
if i wanted the new update in my world do i have to reset my world or what
it'll update automatically as you enter (which may freeze the game for a while but that's fine)
alrite thank you
Did they make any performance updates in the last 4-5 months? I've noticed it's a lot smoother than the last time i played in april.
Like the movement feels more fluid
More smooth
Almost every update does
TIL that the vegvisir in the main spawn can be used as a way to locate each Cardinal point as it's perfectly aligned to them
They updated to newer game engine before Ashlands to make things run smoother.
well in april when i played i was in ashlands
You didn't know?
I keep seeing people making compasses and shit and no one mentioning that
i dig underneath his spawn area and just shoot him from safety as he looks down on me with disgust
Yggdrasil kinda works as a compass too
not only tells you the direction, but even vaguely where on the world you are, since it doesn't move along with you
oh nvm i misunderstood the question, ignore me
Will the dvergr attack me immediately if i hit something inside their ward
Just one hit
I did know this, it's how I realized of the vegvisir alignment
Also TIL that you can very easily/safely destroy a beehive by just deconstructing the pieces it's attached to with a hammer + workbench
Lots of new things learned in less than a day and have been playing for over three years
Oh, i was using this for quite a long time ๐
You can use a empty cart as a boat?
Have someone swimming with cart attached ๐
and dragged behind a boat by a harpoon ๐
Ez way to increase boat storage capacity.
I've seen this yes
1-star boar in starting area, let's goooo.
Remembering that one, glorious patch when the sole thing Boars would eat was carrots.
i basically fed my boars only carrots throughout the whole game
genius
there's a whole bunch of foods on the taming page of the wiki for critters that I didn't know they ate
like, are these recent change--I was PRETTY sure I saw this exact page before, and iddn't see so many options--like barlye for chickens?
onions for boar? (i knew turnips, the red & blue berries, and red shrooms, besides also carrots of course)
can that person being harpooned harpoon someone else?
wild it never crossed my mind to try
i see no reason they could n't
Always been the way since being introduced.
wow--this game, full of secrets!
It was a good thing imo, because it meant you hunted them in the Meadows, and moved into taming them in the BF.
But people raged, so it was fixed very quickly.
oh, crazy. i think that happened during my long break from the game maybe
Yeah it lasted like a week tops.
