gamers are a weird bunch sometime: I am not having fun with this game! I need to argue with people who are having fun with it! The devs must change the game to meet my specific vision! I refuse to just stop doing something that i don't have fun with and go do something else! Waa! Waa!
sure, that's allowed, but why wouldn't you also agree that it's unfun for many people to stand on a rock abusing bad AI, and therefore agree that the game should change?
kk
And another option:
i don't care if you're not having fun Flaek. It doesn't matter to me. You should go do something that is fun to you. I guess arguing on the internet is fun for you?
it's abusing bad AI π€£ π€£π€£π€£
the game has been alright up untill this point, but the mistlands is just a horrible biome that exaggerates everything wrong with the game
and so what? games do things like that. do you have so little to do that you're going to spend this time on a game that's been "alright" and then argue about it for days when you're not having fun anymore? Is your Steam library JUST Valheim?
Flaek: I will personally send you $20 on Steam somehow to go buy another game so you can go have fun
alright
send me a steam giftcard or gift me a game
i'm the fun angel. but you have to promise to actually go away and stop arguing senselessly here
I'd say use the fine bow and wooden arrows.
But then, I've never aimed at seriously training my bow skills. I just use that weapon when I need it and that way to kill Draugr is something I do because it's fun.
Plus, since the spawner occasionally brings in elites and archers, as well as starred Draugr, shooting them occasionally gets harder.
right
if you give me 20$
okay, give me your Steam ID or email or something
nuh uh
bro dont do that π
the only thing preventing me from doing is that thinking he won't go away and stop aruging π
right...
can somebody just answer my question (about actually valheim) please π
this is "actually valheim", but okay
okay, i can gift Valheim to dyou, Flaek?
I just did, but didn't tag you as a reply:
you can't gift me a game i already own
okay
The bug list and #suggestions would say otherwise.
ah allright
my bad, ty
it very much is
Sup guys, which ore do I gather after getting bronze and where do I find it?
Disagree.
Easy now
after defeating the elder you get a swamp key, which you need for swamp crypts found in the swamp, there you can find iron scrap
Thx
Need to go to the Swamp.
And make sure you have killed the Elder, otherwise getting iron is hard.
UNless you cheese it using a stagbreaker.
Smelt that iron in the furnace and boom, welcome to the iron age
We've only resorted to that when the other solutions have been rejected.
And this isn't a case of game issues on this occasion anyway.
NP. Sometimes the chat scrolls that fast, it's easy to miss a reply to a question.
how is it not a game issue that an enemy is impossible to kill with anything but a bow, and that you have to cheese the game by standing on a rock and abuse it's bad AI to kill it!???!?
If they'd complain about not being able to attack on a slope we'd be right behind them.
The irony is that Mistlands offer a complete new aspect of killing things. Have you missed that somehow?
Because with that aspect killing Seeker Soldiers is even easier as with a bow.
What enemy is valheim is only killable with a bow? I almost never use a bow through the whole game.
alright so you can only kill enemies with magic and bows, how great, that makes it waaay better
Has it ever occured to you that it may not be "bad AI", but intentional done by the Devs to give players at least one option to defeat one of the harder monsters of the Mistland?
Not true. You can kill them with anything but Spirit damage.
the seeker soldiers: they have 1500hp and i do 34 damage to them with the mislands lightning fork thingy
do you enjoy killing things that can't fight back?
you can also kill them naked with your fists, but that just isn't really an option brother
They can fight back, they keep killing you.
not if i stand on a rock and shoot them with magic or arrows
I don't know what you want anymore.
You are using the wrong thing. You need a level 3 iron buckler and an ancient bark spear. You parry the head smash, jump over and thrown spear in his ass. Takes about 6 hits. If you want to see real talent at it go watch @rancid solstice speed run videos. He is awesome at it.
Seeker soldiers are absolutely killable with melee weapons though? It doesn't take a lot to parry them once you're into the weapons of the biome
(assuming default difficulty)
Once you get mistlands spear it is even easier.
again we're furthering the idea of only being able to use specific weapons, even though there are a wide array of them
My goal in this game isn't do die a quazillion times in an attempt to kill monsters.
My goal in this game is to defeat the bosses and everything that comes between them and me.
And to make sure I reach my goal, I use every method possible to avoid being killed.
If that means I need to abuse how the AI works by "cheesing" it. So be it.
I am enjoying the game as it is even with the bugs and all we all occasionally encounter.
That doesn't mean I'm happy with those bugs - unless they're seekers, soldiers, ticks, s'quitoes and gjall - but I adapt to them to make sure that at the end of the fight I'm the one standing.
Easy ways to kill seeker soldier. 1. Frostner, Mistwalker sword, ember staff, any spear ancient or higher, Any mace iron or higher. They take massive damage in the rear. Parry is the key to kill one. Frostner is OP after parry because you can get off a full combo in the rear due to the slow.
Do you unscrew screws with a hammer? No, you use the correct tool for the job.
why would you not want the bad AI and game design to be fixed though?
this is a video game
I didn't say that. Don't try to put words in my mouth just to proof your "right".
well i proposed changing the AI and gamedesign so it's possible to kill seeker soldiers without cheesing, but you don't like that idea
Because casual players need a way to get through it. If they couldnt cheese the terrain and kill with what works for them they would be on here complaining. Oh wait, that is what they are doing now about bad AI.
brother, if casual players can't beat the game because everything is a damage sponge, maybe there's a problem
I don't see it in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612
When did you propose it?
are we talking about seeker soldiers being hard to fight?
i said that seeker soldiers have too much hp, that it's bs that you can stand on a rock and cheese the AI, and i just said that stuff shouldn't be damage sponges
i literally have to hit them 44 times with the lightning rod thing from the mistlands biome to kill them
We can't change the game. Only the devs can do that.
but you're defending the damn game??
On this aspect yes.
You said that here.
But you just mentioned you proposed that the AI should be changed.
Yet, I don't see anything in the https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612 channel, meaning you haven't proposed it in the proper channel.
i forget what that is (mostly cuz im only clubs and shield + mage now lol)
lightning atgeir?
yeah
sword aswell
dont forget that the server got hacked a while back and a lot of history is gone as well
interesting. they were an ok time when i was fighting them
I'm pretty sure you can easily parry then with the himminafl and then walk behind them to get the rear damage
No rock cheese needed
Most of them were duplicates of duplicates.
i'll test that out, thanks for the actual advice
i thought parry was a well known fact at mistlands stage in the game
Haha, rock cheese. πͺ¨π§
i upgrade all my crap to max though. so far done 2 methods (i don't like cheesing)
i could either parry and then heavy attack or heavy and then sprit to do a basic hit to deal about same dmg w/th porcupine
We've given plenty of advice, you've just dismissed it all.
because it's bad advice, like rock cheesing or "just hit its week spot, bro"
i usually eat 2 health foods and 1 stam when im warrior mode. i never really used atgeirs aside panic buttons so can't say much
upgrading items to max in this game is not needed but its 100% unavoidable for me
it is, but you assume that a big tank like that could easily hit through the shield
How is telling you to make use of the weak spots bad advice? On what planet?
you literally said that it wasn't a problem to kill, and that i should just hit its week spot, then i told you that i could only hit its weekspot when it did its AE, and you dismissed it
fair enoguh but you can parry a trolls tree as well so ehh
is it hard to run to the abdomen and poke it once u got a parry off?
yeah, but not with bronze stuff?
Not remotely.
i recall parrying a troll's log swipe with bronze stuff. the overhead was a different story that involved a gravestone
i recall not being able to block any of its attacks
likely yes just no over ehad strikes
never realized how swift one handed mace was
i wish i had a way to add Rock Cheese emojis to my name for this server only in discord
also silver gear can parry a golem as well so parry should be viable allt hey way to deepnorth atleast
what foods do u run? maybe an extra health and a stam potion can help out, or upgrading gear. maybe u can carry a shield to get a parry off and then swap i guess
I mean, if you actually want the numbers of what attacks can be parried and what gear you need to parry them, Sevrah's spreadsheet linked in the pins here should be pretty conclusive.
i have no idea where to check for that
Pinned posts of this channel, listed under my post titled vetted community tools
the pins are top right of the chatbox. near the member list.
on mobile you have to click the chatbox name up top, and then click the pins tab
i think it's easier to just try than use those formulas
heh
lightning rod. i might keep that around for my vocab. that's really silly-funny to me
what would be a goofy name for mistwalker π€
Himminafl
you can parry a seeker soldier
i guess i don't understand the dodge mechanic then
why do i dodge when i can just parry?
for times when you can't parry i suppose, like running daggers or trying to take a troll overhead with a club
you could jump as an alternative though
could someone tell me how i kill the flying alien invader thing?
the eggs that it has on its underside (big red section thing; yes those are eggs prepare to be terrified) is really vulnerable to pierce damage, so landing a good shot with some arbalest shots can do the trick
any guide for mods? like how do i enable them etc. im went new solo server
#mods-discussion maybe there's some stuff over yander to help ya
You have to use either a bow of magic.
Unless you're very lucky and you're able to get close to it for melee while standing on top of a peak in Mistlands.
Have you found a secret biome? I can't think of any mob that made me think of flying aliens.
alright guys, i think my new valheim name really exemplifies how i play this game
stop
I assume he is referring to a Gjall. To kill it you can do one a couple of things. Easiest is shoot it in the belly with a bow. You can throw spears in its belly. You can kill it with the ember staff pretty easy, very weak to fire. Running away is an option as well.
Ok, so... Tell us?
rock cheese!
i guess you had to be reading the chat here earlier to really get the joke. sigh. that's a problem
is valheim available on ps?
On the gjall avoid the front 1/3 the fireballs hurt. Fire resist mead is your friend when fighting gjalls untiil you learn the mechanics.
Why would a nickname that "exemplifies how you play the game" be influenced by the chat?
i'm saying: the term "rock cheese" came up. I thought it was hilarious, and also is how i play the game sometimes. so i took it as part of my nick name. Does that make sense to you?
Because treelash is standing on a rock and cheesing the mobs with a bow π
hammer mostly right now, but yes! exactly
me finally found a pretty plains spot close to a big lump of mist π gonna build a new home there π
Or! Are they standing on cheese throwing rocks at enemy mobs?!
new cheese biome rumors
that might work too as long as them mobs do not run away
That would mean we got mice in game.
Which make me wonder: can we tame them? If we can, would naming them Minnie and Mickey be allowed? How large are they going to be? Do we have to find a cat to defend our cheese rocks from the mice?
i'd be ok with mice in game if we could build steamboats and have them pilot them.
It's public domain after all.
i think they are rodents of unusual size
And what about the armor?
Mice-fur armor: when wearing the full set you're able to enter buildings through tiny holes.
But its protection is kinda crappy to force players to switch out the armor. (and to give them something to complain about π )
actually, we need rodents of unusual size in the swamp hanging around the fire geysers
Rodents of unusual size only appear in the swamps.
If I want to fight rodents of unusual size, I play Sacred 2. There's plenty of those in that game.
you think the surtlings alone is too easy`? (we got rodents of unusual size in the Mist - them hares can get damn big with stars) π
Valheim: Princess Bride edition
I like it! But, it also takes something like 500 mouse skins to build the armour.
oh yeah we gotta have the grind!!!
White with two, please.
White Mouse fur cap. Needing 100 white mouse furs. And then having only 2 white mice spawning in the swamp. π
(At the same time, that is)
sidenote: scouting out a new spot for a nice base is my favorite way of procrastinating to kill the boss π
currently mine is making breeders, deciding i need more of the various metals, and, yeah, maybe i need to sail around and find a nice island base location, now that you mentioned it
Makes sense since white mice are a rare phenotype.
i want to try to find a small island that's half plains half mistlands. that's the end game goal
And it boosts exploration. π
With enough rocks to cheese the monsters?
If it did, it would also increase aggro range because you stand out against the environment.
i can bring my own rocks. you should see how i dealt with the sealed tower bosses
Come to think of it, we would need a mice-raid as well.
Perhaps something like the bats, but instead of killing off your boars the mice enter your house and destroy half of the stockpiled food and food items in your chests....... π€
mice getting into my chests and eating my stockpile of food?!?! holy crap I would rage lol
Lemme guess, you brought a hoe, a couple of 100 stones and made a dirt wall to get to the first opening large enough to enter the tower?
Next biome is Australia?
there was a fuling village right there, so I surrounded a good part of the tower with earthen walls so i could hammer the boss through the walls in peace. Since the 60m noise of the hammer attracted the entire village. i chipped the boss down from outside the tower, and then also beat all the goblins that investigated through the earthen walls also
Nope. The Devs have considered it, but they can't come up with 666 different dangerous monsters.
is it just me or is the stone consumption for building insanely high?
'A Plague Tale' did it quite well. More like a wave than a swarm.
It could be you; but it most likely depends at how large your stone building is. But in general a reasonable sized building does require a lot of stone.
The good thing is that we also got plenty of resources for stone, so getting the materials isn't the problem.
Wait... have we just encountered "The One"?!
I doubt it, because I think the highest point of the dirt wall you can craft is still below the first balcony you could use to enter a tower.
i used like over 2 iron chests of stone for just a small segment of wall π
But I've never tried it, so I may be mistaken
Which wall pieces are you using?
Because the very big ones seem to use more stone as the ones all the ruined towers use.
yes, the balcony is higher than the max earth wall height.
after this experience im thinking of changing to no-cost building otherwise i will spend over 200 hrs just farming materials for my town
all types tbh.. depends
Australia is barely more dangerous than Meadows. We live by the mantra, "Don't be a dickhead, and you won't find yourself dead".
But it's fun to have your pickaxe skill being the first one hitting 50, 60, 70, 80 and more!
well.. the pickaxe skill is not the thing that i want to have skilled the most π
I was just talking about the periodic plague of mice haha
would prefer bow and some melee weapon first
Would you like milk or sugar with your grind?
Pizza and a bottle of cola will do fine, thank you.
You canβt fool me though, there are no meese in Australia
There very much are. I'm actually an author on a scientific paper testing the sexual selection on a population of mice.
Moosen
Fail.
On a more serious note: you will be able to get lots of stone from mining out the two copper and two silver veins you need for most of your gear anyway.
Mining the boulders close to a portal is quite easy too.
Just don't spend all your time at getting those resources, instead do it once in a while while also going out to hunt.
You'll notice you're soon have a few K of stone available without even realizing it.
Also, don't drop it into a chest, keep them in a cart. Makes it a lot easier to use it for building as you can take the cart close to your building spot and you can store more in a cart as you can in a chest.
Genuinely?
Yep. It was part of my Honours year at the University of Western Australia.
That's cool.
well i had few thousands of stone.. but they were all gone in like 2 hrs of building π₯²
Thanks π (Edit: I should clarify "an author" is precise; I wasn't the only author).
lol i wasn't paying attention, and suddenly realized i have .... a lot of barley flour. like an unreasonable amount. i guess i need to make some bread
there are no mice, they are actually all robotic spy rodents and that study is to make their existence seem more believable
Or simply stop dropping all the barley in that windmill
Oh, that reminds me: food with mice meat.
For stamina that could be Micescream? Or does that mean you need to milk them.......
I was making a joke on your user name being moose, I probably should have been clearer my bad
Never stop producing flour. All I'll say is that everyone loves pie!
I worked with mice for a summer but they were all dead when I got them (intentionally). Measuring fat loss due to cancer induced cachexia.
Nice! There's a company in my city called Ozgene that breeds genetically-modified mice to be bought for experimentation; I applied for a job with them but failed.
We might have found some common ground, my dude! Hazar!
Lol. About time. I'm not a lab tech anymore though.
I now work for an Improv Theatre organisation, and perform with such. It's a long way from the stresses of academia.
Did I mention I'm also an actor?
WHHHAAAA?!
Well, fuck me. This is fun,.
Mostly theatre though I've done two short films this year (waiting for the second to be edited)
Noice. I'd be keen to see your work.
We might be off topic for the channel though, so...
It can't be any worse than the Borderlands movie
lol i've heard the reviews are horrible
Mind a DM? I'll be doxxing myself hard.
I can't guarantee a good deal of attention, but I'm sincerely interested in seeing your work. Go for it.
I doubt anyone who hasn't played the game, would understand it when the main character dies in the Valheim movie because a tree fell in him / her.....
video game movies always need some fan service
like that one viking you see in the movie who is just shown every now and then digging a huge moat. that's all you see. no explanation.
That's great! It's totally on par with 'The Suicide Squad' after the release of 'Suicide Squad'. I love the idea.
Yeah, well I think so far most video game movies are very great misses. With the exception of "The last of Us" (which was a TV show) I can't of any movie based upon a video game being "good".
the Fallout series was super enjoyable
Hard agree. Fallout nailed it.
at least one of the Silent Hill movies was a fun enjoyable watch also
You've clearly never watched 'Pixels'. π
Basically original story in familiar setting seems to be the way.
I... Have no words. They weren't horrible films but didn't do the games justice.
Yeah, series can be good, because they got the time to work on the character in multiple episodes; explaining why or how a character got to that point.
In a movie that's a bit harder.
Unless you're Peter Jackson and turn a 100 page script in three 180 minutes movies (240 minutes in the Director's Cut)
Insightful. That would seem to be the formula.
Oh, don't get me started on the Hobbit.
i agree that they weren't high cinema. But i forget which one, but one of them i watched and enjoyed. i didn't consider it a waste of time.
That's fair.
oh, i enjoyed the first Resident Evil movie. It was fun.
my standards are fairly low for video game movies in general
The Halo TV series was pretty good too. (I've never played the games (I'm Playstation/PC-Master-Race).
chat is chatty π
Shhh! We're talking.
At least we're not fighting anymore.
not about valheim it seems
I mean, I grew up with the Mortal Kombat and Dungeon Siege movies. Don't think there are any game based movies worse as those two.
awe D:
we're going to make a Valheim fan made movie
We are?
Lol.
yeah, we are. i just announced it. crowd funding started last week
No need to. We got Scarlet Quiver. π
I've been trying to find some common ground with @vocal rivet for so very long. You need to let us have this.
Don't blame me for this. I get in enough trouble.
I can tell you now that an American and a Moose don't quite mix. Geographically speaking (yes Ik there's some locations such as Maine that have moose)
Where are the Americans?
are you not?
Hell no.
British?
Yup.
Bri'ish
Ah - even more so
wot?
no moose in the UK (except for the highland wildlife park in scotland)
As someone in New England, moose are fine
I dunno what's worse.
At least the Vikings didn't live that long in the America's as they did in Britain. π
Which of the (conservatively) two-dozen accents was that one?
Brooklyn
Yo! When I wan' yor opiny'n, ah'll ask fer it!
lost a braincell, on that note - Valheim is bae and adios for tonight
there's plenty of Meese up north
a very badly done one
moose in deep north?
odd but could work
No, no, no.
We need the Rock Cheese biome first.
I want that mice armor!
the rain storm audio in valheim is very soothing. i've had the game paused during a storm while i work now for about 30 minutes. it's soothing
How would you describe it?
I haven't seen the TV show (I haven't heard very many good things about it) but the halo games are and have been absolutely available for pc -- I don't even have playstation and I've played most of them (halo 3 iirc wasn't on pc for a long while)
Valheim?
.hmm i think soothing? Did i mention it was soothing? something about the soothing nature of it
ah yep, calming and relaxing. would need to relisten to confirm
ah, was just scrolling up -- wasn't looking at the channel
I have decided I want to build a castle in the Plains for my base but I still need to settle on a general design
i'm going to keep typing the word soothing until it doesn't look correct anymore
Not everyone thinks it's easy and people could still struggle fighting bosses
It took me about an hour - 1.5 hours to take down Fader for the very first time - back when Ashlands was still new
Moose do tend toward the colder climes. However, when a moose is deemed glorious, their climatic limitations are released and they can comfortably reside as far away as the great southern land.
low 1/3 of health bar and he kept spamming add spawns. Archers protecting him so I couldn't get close
it's only hard because of their spongey health pool
I'm saying I didn't grow up with it. The PC ports are generally years after the initial release.
you become cocky because you're bored, so you attack one extra time than you should and get hit, it isn't actually because they're hard to counter, just unbelivably boring
In any case - the bees are now sleeping
don't take this opportunity to become internet trolls. Other staff online so behave!
Derek has authority to report β€οΈ (as do all of you should you need to)

Speaking of bees, that makes me wonder how many beehives you would need to kill a troll.
If it's even possible, as the damage a troll does will most likely destroy the beehives before the bees are able to attack the troll.
Anyone ever tested that?
ur the reason we can't have nice things
i support this scientific endaevor
Have you tried crafting the 'Ar-bee-lest'? Firing bees at your enemies from a crossbow is surprisingly effective.
Because poison doesnβt stack youβd need to space out the beehives for maximum damage
I do know that bees can kill the Greydwarves and even the Brutes. Have seen it happen a few times.
But I've never dared to lure a troll to my base to see what bees does on that
How interesting would it be to have more worlds then just Valheim :), like when you are finished with Valheim you can go to realm of the dead, Hellheim xD that would've made a great dlc xD
That would just be an all-ashlands world?
It'd require a 'Hall-of hives'. You'd need to funnel a troll along a significant path, bordered by bees, to even have a chance. I'd argue it might be easier to kill a troll with falling trees.
Nah. People will immediately complain that the barley wine is not good enough to deal with the fire damage.
I think I'll stick to using the good ole Bow 'n Arrow.
At least that gives me more skill. π
You're not going to parry with your oakshield?
There's a game series called "God of War" that you need to explore.
Nope, I prefer to cheese it. π
I find fun in luring trolls to the towers in the Black Forest and shooting them from there. Sure the towers are ablative armor, but they tend to last for a few trolls π
I just roll and jump around them while stabbing their legs until they die
I did that once. And just then I encountered a log-troll.
Needless to say the tower didn't last long
I still have a tower standing - a little bit - from a log troll π
I'm still learning dodge-roll; don't trust myself enough with that vs trolls until Iron gear.
If an attack can be jumped over, jumping over is better. You canβt do this against trolls, but if youβre rolling from smaller enemies try this instead.
I've only been rolling against the larger enemies
...and I've been doing that once I feel my armor/shield is upgraded enough to parry
I always jump attack when I can, attacking doesnβt slow you down in the air
Honestely, having a depleted copper node in the Black Forest is easy mode for trolls, at least the nodes I dug a trench around.
So yeah, being able to use terrain and multiple ways to engage enemies is one of the strongest points of combat game design in Valheim, in my opinion.
I think it is in most players opinion.
Because if it wasn't, why would so many players dig moats and / or use dirt walls to protect their bases?
Or in my case, use an island and raise it up to a plateau.
Iβve never used dirt walls. Enemies donβt randomly attack walls, so thereβs no point in making them indestructible, and theyβre uglier than normal walls
Nah
And the game set in valheim hence is literally named Valheim.
Not "All 9 + 1 worlds of Norse mythology"
I've used them once. And found them that butt fugly I vowed I would never use them again.
Even with a plateau you can have a somewhat ugly look, but with the stone walls on top of that it looks at least a bit more decent.
And it may get better if I'm able to use the cultivator on it and plant grass, giving it a more natural look.
Are 'dirt walls' just building up the land with the hoe?
Yes
Dm me to play. I'm new
#1024264966712340510 is the right channel for finding people to play with
thanks
well, its indestructible
(almost since ashlands)
Not end game, penultimate biome.
dang, looks like eggs won't roll down 26 degree roof tiles. let me try 45
i wonder if the tar roofs roll better
and also currently the ultimate biome until we get a big patch
man I remember when plains was the "endgame", that was around when I started
it appears that if you want to maximize the chance of mobs falling into your moat, you can build a wall that they can walk up, but it's up high and maybe narrow, and then they have a large chance of falling in. I got raided by fulings after doing some moat stuff, and one side effect is a couple of them fell in with the wolves
So what option do i have for midgame traps n defense
what specifically are you trying to defend against?
Just something to damage whatever approaching my base
the "whatever" matters. name specific raids or mobs
digging a ditch will prevent literally anything that walks from passing it
I actually raise a dirt wall surround my base and already cover it with some building to make it look like real walls
My base have 3 access point and 2 of them are ports
Last one is a trench i'm planning to build a bridge over
What i need is something to kill the mobs approaching stuff outside my base like boats
you can keep your boats in a boathouse
walls/roofs will prevent enemies from aggroing them
so, killing mobs automatically is harder. but you can use a boathouse. you could tame wolves and let them run around outside your base
How do you tranport wolf to an island
boat
They can stay on boat?
if you're on an island, just spawn proof the whole island with workbenches or campfires
Okay that's new
if you transport wolves by boat, be careful if you run past a sea serpent. they will jump in after it
Yeah
Also what to buy from harold for first time
Oh wait
Megingjord don't have unlock requirement from harold?
no. and that's the first thing
Hell yeah
I keep seeing these log messages... and just realized its probably because I made them with whatever version is in the beta.
i find it odd lord rito dose not have his own trophy
lol my game has turned into Farmheim: chicken breeder/killer, egg farm, boar and wolf tower, lox tower, two plots for growing veggies.
odin is confused
Farming Simulater: The Viking Expansion. π
i'll be honest, I treat my game like this. turned off base raiding so I could make it look more open and farmlike.
totally get it! I'm trying to set up raids like another farm. Been working on getting mobs to fall into my wolf moat. But i understand how moats and such are ugly
fuling raids simplify getting black metal to my main base lol
When connecting to my friend's server, I get the error "Connection failed." No matter what I do, I can't fix it. Can anyone help????
thats the part i like
infininte barley fields hmmmmm
make sure you both use the correct method
are both on PC?
someone on xbox?
mirosoft store version?
apple store?
no one uses VPN
etc
yes
Quick ques, if you level out a small island at sea, and build a little castle island on that, how problematic are storms/waves? Will they ignore walls and rush through and damage stuff?
but Δ± dont now why . I was playing it all the time and suddenly it happened
Yes, it will.
It will also slam your boat(s) against your dock if the dock is build at the "ocean side" of that island.
To prevent the occasional flooding, raise the land 3-4 times to create a small platform for your castle to be build on.
That may prevent the occasional flooding of your building.
my house built (too) close to the shore that one night:
We're gonna try, assuming we have enough land to work with cause I know you can only raise like...
Up to a certain point past where the ground level is generated? If I remember and understand correctly.
What causes server crash errors when playing with friends?
8 metres either way.
Even though our games are original, we are disconnected from the server
Meters measure things.
It's 8 meters. And that's more than enough to prevent flooding of your building. But if the flooding is the only problem, raising it about half the height would be enough.
However, if you want to have a basement, that one needs to be about 4 meters up and for the wall to support the floor above you will need another 4 meters.
Now here's the fun part.
If you put a stone floor down you can still build the charcoal kiln and smelter in that basement. Even the blast furnace will fit in it, although a small part will stick out of the floor.
To deal with that, build a hearth over the charcoal kiln and smelter and an oven over the blast furnace. That way you will divert the smoke through a new canal, which will then move into the chimney - if you build one - you have to get rid of the smoke of the hearth and oven.
is 100 fire arrows with a finewood bow enougth for elder ?
with my aim, i would double it lol
If you hit moderatly often then yes π
been a month, and a plan to cheat
hi been a month
Lox tower?
lox breeding tower: #screenshots message
That's impressive.
It seemed to me that a recent update "broke" breeding towers - I had a really hard time positioning food where they could get to it. I could be wrong about that.
food is still a pita for me for wolves, mostly. boars it seems not so bad. chickens it's the easiest so far. lox in that tower is super easy. i just get it in the middle of both of them, though it's a pita to get up to them. luckily a 100 stack of barley lasts forever with lox
Hey how are u guys doing
any benefits of a singleplayer ward?
It acts like a security system and alerts you when something (a grey dwarf) is attacking (throwing rocks at) your base.
Ello
what's everyone's general consensus on Major Healing Mead vs Lingering Healing Mead?
I prefer Linger for both stamina and eitr. But I feel like for health I prefer the instant regen of the major healing potion. But I have heard ppl say that the lingering meads are all superior to their instant counterparts. Thoughts?
Aaaargh. Can we please have a bit more lenient placement logic when it comes to forge/workbench upgrades? It is borderline impossible to place them in a manner that makes sense, I am constantly forced to move them out in the middle of the floor so they constantly get in the way. And no, I can't put them underground since the workshop IS in the cellar...
I think it very much depends on how you play. For me the lingering meads tend to go to waste, while the strong healing meads get used a lot when I bugger up a parry or simply aggro too many mobs at once... When you get sudden spikes of damage healing mead is king. That's just me being bad - but it works for me π
Also when you have slid into a trance tending to your crops and an invasion triggers only for you to realise you let the foods drop off - munching down foods and popping a healing mead is a lifesaver.
yeah that makes sense. i think instant is best for the healing too.
Gods, I manage to place all the forge upgrades pretty decently except one, that will not accept any placement other than just in front of the forge itself. Aaargh!
Guys, do a alot of people know that dvergrs from mistlands, know about haldor
i didn't fully see what they where talking about but i saw then say something about haldor
lol. using the harpoon on Brenna to pull her into my moat of wolves made me giggle
I killed it with 52 so yeah probably
When do you get the stone portal btw?
is the elder the second boss?
Yeah
I thought the swamp boss was the 2nd boss until yesterday lol
But elder is 2nd and swamp is 3rd
lmao i went to the swamp a couple of days ago and got demolished
Itβs scary until you get root armor
how do i get that
go to the swamp π€£
If you build a portal on a crypt itβs safe from most enemy types
can i build one in a burial chamber
Not actually sure. I think so?
I think you need a workbench, and can't remember if you can build one inside. I think no, actually
right now im 3 hp i got a wolf on my ass and im far away from home and i dont know what to do
You must survive.
how π
Eat food.
i paused the game
I didn't know you could pause the game.
hes litrally behind me
if ur solo ucould i think
Use dodge and keep running
look at #screenshots
womp
so terraforming is a chill and easy thing to do when i'm watching tv. as i'm fixing my moat i realize, if I just make the moat so wide, that raids spawn inside it, with my wolves, i'm all good
lots of wolves. and they are trapped still in a huge moat, so no running rampant all over the meadow
Seems like Ashlands biome is relatively good defense against the events since basically any raid (except Ashlands events) will be completely wiped so quickly by lava and local mobs xD
So... I'm still thinking about the base somewhere there
that's smart! Can you plant crops in ashlands?
No, but anyway it's required to build portals in different biomes to plant different crops
Most things can be planted in Ashlands.
Yeah, but not magecapes, barley or flax.
True. But that's very different to saying you can't plant anything in Ashlands.
But at the same time it doesn't make any sense to plant carrots or onions in Ashlands xD
you could plant em if you want, your shield gen is running 24/7 anyway if you really wanna base there
also I just learned yesterday that turnips grow in the mistlands through trial and error
neat
will enemies destroy my portal?
they can go for it if they want
so build around it
idk about aggro much but if ur far away they may just b-line for structures, or indirectly attack it if ur close (like trolls)
you can if u want. i don't all the time
good excuse for fashion building π
Metals are un-teleportable on the default settings
is there a glitch or something?
Can I build my house as tall as I want?
that's how the game is designed
hence why you should setup bases near the sea
depends on the material
nope intended mechanic
think it can cap out but if u build with stone it prolly gives more stability and therefore more height
my base is near the sea and i could just boat over there but it takes forever
just make a outpost near the metal mining location
store them there and make a single trip occationally to transport all the metal
yeah it was annoying at first but i made a mini base near a swamp to get iron armor up and running
yeah i intend to do that after i beat the boss
i didn't have the option to sail for it to be faster
@modern rune @robust delta can wood material get above the tree line? Iβm early in my first playthrough so I only have wood
i don't know. i make shoddy shitty houses almost on purpose
Anybody have any worlds?I can check out
Maybe.
Stream lighter
I want to see some good houses
Xbox
Lol π I want to build a watch tower kinda house where I can see above the tree line
Iβll attempt it
it could be plausible
what is y'alls most miserable time in valheim?
think mine was fighting bonemass while it turned night without me realizing and rested buff expired, so i could not regen stam for the life of me lol
why not just run and portal home and com eback?
odin would never approve of cowardice
lol
When a tree fell and I lost like 6 boar I spent an hour catching. But Iβm a noob so
How about best feeling: killing Moder with my wolves after all the pita it was to get them up the mountain from my base.
killing moder is kinda tragic if you think about it
this is why i stop thinking
Sniping deer successfully with my bow for the first time lol
snkeaing for cowards
I like sneaky arrow from far away
i chased a deer for 3 minutes π
Oh my goooodddddd... That was terrible... Just found a village in the plains that had like, 3 berserkers, 4 1 star fulings and 4 two star fulings and like 5 shamans, and a buncha normal gobbos... I just... My crew of four died twice, the second time our portal and long boat were destroyed so we had to make a karve and sail halfway cross the world and do a final raid... we finally cleared it out
that sound so freakin awesome
if only i was there. call me in like a helldiver π
it was extremely painful but, my crew was satisfied with razing the entire village and salting the fields so nothing would ever grow there again after we killed them all
i would of been running around screaming for my life while dodging all sorcerer fireballs
or saying "nah i'd win" and crumple against 3 berserkers at once haha
I've annihilated 30+ villages and unfortunately that is not even the worst I've seen. The absolutely worst village had a crap ton of enemies, but containers barely had any black metal at all
hey guys...quick question: After long time of not playing, I would like to try Ashlands. Is current game version well or should I wait for few more patches? It was big update, and that ussually needs few patches to polish - it has been two so far if I count correctly
idk
Wait
It still needs some polishing but if you want you can start a new world now and by the time you get to ashlands (if you are not speedrunning) it could get some more updates π
I am in no rush, I will start playing when its properly patched
i just started new world
like 10 mins ago and i t hink i am ready to kill first boss
Well, that Is pretty quick(pretty normal for experienced players but considering that someone didn't play it for a long time still pretty quick π )
i havent played since christmast
how do i make fire arrows
btw how do i fast drop items from my hand
Resin, Wood and feathers in lvl2 workbench i believe
If you want to drop something out of your inventory, hit Tab then Ctrl-click the item.
If you just want to unequip your equipped weapon and shield, without removing them from your inventory, just press R.
Or, if you have your weapon and shield on your hotbar, you can unequip them individually by pressing the hotbar key for that item.
Tried to kill Yagluth, with my 9 and 12 year old, our skills are now all back to 0, and Yagluth still lives... Those meteors are broken...
so witch boss do i need to kill to enter the mistlands?
yagluth
technically you can go there without kiling yagluth... but it is no fun without the drop you get from that boss fight π
ah okey well time to start my journey to kill him
He can't be killed π
well then if he cant be killed then time to start stealing all his stuff from his pockets
sure he can be killed i did it many times already π and others did too π
it is a matter of learning the pattern and seek shelter if he does invoke those meteors...they are slow you can just walk away ... but they sure hurt a lot if they hit you
did you made some barley wine? it helps a lot, not only with humor but also it grands fire resistance
also take your time, upgrade gear, get some arrows and meads etc. as a experienced player this is first boss that was actually hard for me
If you are moving when he raises his right hand (for meteor) and don't stop moving half the time they still hit you. When he raises left hand, he does fire slam, and raises mouth breath attack. There's barely any time to attack him
well he is the 5th boss - he is tough to kill... get best food you can make, and fire resistance mead and use the right weapons (he is resistant to pierce - so maybe not use an atgeir as to not make it harder on yourself?) i usually just use frostner (as that one has blunt and spirit dmg :D) also I usually do it wearing fenris armor (for the speed buff) have been killed by yag in padded armor - to slow to evade the meteors) fenris gives fire resistanc and a speed buff i found that helps me a great deal... be aware though fenris fully upgraded is still light armor so ... no tanking hits from random fulings or such please) π
hi. I want to start a valheim server with friends. is there a way to block mods i dont want them to play and how do i prevent them from joining with op chars and or equipment from other save games. is there a way to stop them from using the config manager
ah. and what mods would you guys recommend to me to use
we are about 10 players
if you just tell em not to use mods and to make new characters that would probebly solve a lot of trying to set up
hm... i dunno if it is just me, but if you have to try to stop them from doing those things other than telling them "Let's agree on not cheating, make a fresh charakter and do not bring stuff from other games!" I would think twice about playing with them at all... just my 2 ct... no offense intended
Playing with 10 people, it's always gonna be hard to have everyone on the same page
if you want some help, I'm happy to join with plains (or higher) gear (https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1266907563937632276), just DM me
Do trees respawn in the same place when outside my workbench area?
And when I upgrade workbench level does it increase range?
in general mods do not work unless everyone has it. For the most part, you can only mod how things look to you and do not affect anybody else (if nobody else has it)
Of course, cheats exist like wall hacks and aim bots, but this isn't exactly FPS game
if that person suddenly starts flying without permission, move extra fast, kill everything in 1 hit, be invulnerable ect. then that's no longer a mere mod
The biggest fault of this game is how it handles mods
There at a minimum should be a setting to restrict all mods or not.
that's not a thing...
there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop somebody from editing their own files
Other games have done it
Mods arenβt officially supported so unless that changes thereβs not much Iron Gate can do
Every time I play with people and are no mods I find out later they were
Kind of ruins it a little for me
stop playing with liars then
and what did those mods even do?
Auto deposit items in chests
π€¦ββοΈ
none of which affect the gameplay negatively... if you want to spend more time doing that crap that's a you thing
It does impact. I can place one crop at a time they can place 50. In competing play that is cheating
Forcing me to use mods to keep up
Missing the point. This isnβt a debate
The point is that the other player lied about using mods
doesn't seem that way...
Point is only the game sucks at controlling mods and no one can deny that
If you do then youβre probably one of the liers
if I do what? you're not exactly making that clear
Jeeez no need to throw an accusation. If you want to play Vanilla and those other folks lied to you when you asked about mods directly that sucks but no need to call others liars
that message was from 2 months ago
Better late than never I guess
they are going way back to see if someone said something that doesn't match with today standard to cancel them.
it's just someone asking for help and another person trying to help, although a bit too late
reads some culture war bs, which can stay in yankistan
yes bro, i know
It's the internet
It has far more reach than you may think
Someone else might see it and join π
See what?
The message and go like
Oh hey he is from Brazil
Let me ping him and ask if he wanna play
no
I guess Iβll just leave it then. Looks pretty cool
i think thats a rare sighting
it gives 1 extra comfort, similar to other furniture
i could be wrong tho
it is, not many in each world
its pretty rare out of season
Yeah I think so. Saw it on a yt short one time
now i know lol
depending on the time of the year you can build them
During may?
many worlds dont have them, some might have 1 or a couple
you can build them in june
Cool
ive never seen 1 before
i have seen countless other rare stuff tho like 2 star troll the fish caves
I just got the game a week ago
oh nice i got the game like a year or 2 ago
Itβs been chill
Made a server to play with the homies. We did a little test world and decided to crank up the resources to 2x cuz everything feels like kind of a grind otherwise
dont forget to x1.5 your carry capacity when doing that xd
i tried to use a mod with my friends but it didnt work in the long run so we just gave up it was like a farming mod
I didnβt know u could do that. Just been using carts
Yeah weβre just doing vanilla
oh dang i was traveling with my buds and i checked my map and i saw the merchant symbol
then found his sister or smth not far away
Cool cool
I love the sailing. Just got iron so Iβm probably gonna make a longship soon
nice i would carry arrows on boat rides in case serpents
Yeah
A serpent attacked us on our last iron deposit run and got the karve down to like 40% hp
Close call got hella meat though
yeah serpent always good i used it for boss fights during like moder time and bonemass
I guess I have to upgrade my cooking pot cuz I donβt see a recipe for the serpent food
serpent stew is level 2 cauldron
requires cooking the serpent meat too, which means you need iron
yeah you gotta cook it
You need the iron cooking thing for serpent?
ye
Does the valheim vr mod still work as of now
that'd be a question for #mods-discussion probably
Valheim anyone?
hat do I do when Moder killed me and I'm currently running away from wolves, drakes, Golems AND Moder trying to reclaim my body with insufficent gear?
Well, it wasn't Moder that killed me but a 2 star wolf that spawned in the middle of the fight
Uhh.... keep trying? Not much else that can be done. Just make sure you have cold protection
anyone got any tips for bonemass?
it should not be impossible if you just bait enemies away from your corpse little by little, even if it takes multiple deaths
Don't bother making anything else than an iron mace. Anything else is pointless
^
"pointless" might be a funny term for it, but you get the idea. Pointy things are what you DON'T want
poison protection also a must for bonemass
And a flat area where you can walk. No point in being chased by leeches, trying to walk/swim
should i go to the swamp after killing the second boss
When does Moder despawn anyway? Am I at the risk of loosing all my eggs that i found?
i dont think she ever despawns unless killed
appreciate it guys, a lot of wasted time saved
after killing elder and getting the aptly named swamp key yes
ok thx
Is there a way to cancel a drawn bow? besides just unequipping it?
Block
Are you able to change your characters name?
I think https://geekstrom.de/valheim/fch/ still works, but obviously make a backup first.
hmm. trying to undermine a big pillar in the plains, but i guess it doesn't work like silver where you can get it out of the dirt, and then whack it and have it all fall down?
everything that's made up of fragments can shatter to gravity like that, but the boxes used to determine whether or not the object is actually floating don't match the visible or feelable fragments in shape, so if it doesn't shatter, it's still invisibly connected to the ground somewhere.
okay, thanks. i'll try to clear it more from the ground
victory!
7.5 stacks of stone, not bad
I hate Ashland
Humanity would probably ascend to godhood the second people start using their time to solve their clearly easily solvable issues rather than complain about them
skol on that

i think i accidently glitched the game, i had the megingjord and i died and when i picked up my body i can now carry 600kg instead of 450
ohhhhhhh
can be a little dangerous π allows auto-pickup to vacuum up items that would bring you beyond 450 kg, then corpse run runs out and you're just suddenly over-encumbered, that's killed me at least once
Gives you 150 kg of carry weight for a limited time. I kinda wish they hadnt added that because you can pick up your stuff but once the timer runs out suddenly your overburdened and surrounded by enemies so manage your inventory asap in those situations.
Yea gotcha thx
Is it normal that the fight against Moder is also a fight against multiple golems, drakes and wolves?
if a rock or tree is damaged while a player is within some distance of it, it makes 100 meters of noise, drawing everything around the area over to investigate
sometimes mountains are uneven enough that said enemies can't quite reach you, other times you're less lucky π
i'd recommend trying to make sure areas are very clear of enemies before a boss fight but that's not 100% reliable, maybe you did that already
That really makes bossfights more challenging and dynamic, especially when I can barely retrieve my stuff, being chased by ALL the mountain π
ouch π
at least in mountains you can sometimes take advantage of golems beind hostile towards all other mountain enemies. especially useful if there's a drake around - depending on the terrain, they can be stuck fighting each other pretty much forever as the drake can't damage the golem, and the golem can't reach the drake.
if you try to do this, keep in mind that enemies always target the opponent closest to them, updating that every couple seconds
Got rid of all of them, just Moder is no problem with my fang-spear and scale-shield. But it was a long way to get there, especially with Moder blasting away my portalsΓ€
By the Gods, it is over, it is finally done...
i hate the swamps
Any opinions on best pvp servers?
You might be able to find some at #1024264966712340510 . Though it isn't really a PvP game.
send you something! lol
swamp is pretty swampy true
what is required to summon the first boss, i looked online and saw some say 2 deer trophies, some say 3, idk
Itβs 2
ok thanks
so uhhhhh...how am i supposed to get the serpant scales if they sink??
The mist lands is very misty π
Give them a YOINK
when the plains are moving π¨
Harpooning a serpent to shore is my usual strategy
i was at shore, apparently not far enough in
has anyone got a working wood farm using greydwarf spawner without the use of pufferfish or needing fenris claws? something you can make early game?
If you jump from a high elevation youβll fall pretty deep into the water before you rise to the surface (and can grab things that are at the bottom)
when you fall from a height, you sink underwater, the higher you fall from the lower you can get: Build a ramp/stairs and jump from them to get where the scales fell
besides that you can harpoon the serpent inland if a shallow enough shore isn't available
might require a lot of stamina
Plains move?
no, well unless earthquakes but that's a cheap shot. i was just trying to mix black forest and plains, though it wasn't as funny as i thought
Got raided by trolls for the first time
But I have an iron atgier so it worked out
Plains get earthquakes???
ugh i'm so demoralized. I've been careful with this character but have died so many times today. so much for my skills. :/
no. i yield my time π
guys can i play with someone on steam while i have the game from game pass?
Yes, by sharing a join code. If the steam player is hosting theyβll need to enable crossplay
alrigh thank you
There needs to be some distance between the copper and any other objects/terrain
there is
Now break part of the copper for the rest to go with it
If it doesnβt work something is too close
there is no way there is something too close ive done it before
Thatβs the only thing that could stop it from working
You will need at least 2 meters distance between the copper vein and the surrounding area.
And often that gap is closed by a tiny bit by a tree or a boulder at the outside of the terrain at the bottom.
So either you mine out the area around it a bit more, destroy all trees and boulders to make sure that area is free, or you mine a bit of the bottom of the copper vein to make sure the bottom of it is free for more than 2 meters.
it defo is, but ill keep trying
also do keep in mind the copper wont explode by itself eitherway
you gotta after cleairng everything around it, still mine some of the copper deposit
I assume you mean surtling cores, and no, they don't
dang
Do turnips grow in meadows?
Yes
tnx
Go to swamp
If u need more
yo i just found the deep north wtf is that i thought ashlands was the final biome
surprise
Current final
And it's always been there
when are they adding something to it?
we dont know π
and also how tf do i find ashlands? is it like a nether portal from minecraft or what becuase its nowhere on my map
go south, you will find them eventualy π
ah damn im on the wrong side of the map
Same
Did they remove the ability to see the seed on a dedicated server thatβs not yours? π€
does boat mats drop when its destroyed?
ok imma see if i can recover the nails if not i dot really care have plenty of iron
I'm stuck in a structure
How is it that there's such poor alignment among the cross-material 26Β°/45Β° pieces?! 26Β° is 26Β°, it's not subjective.
Can I download mods for this game on Xbox?
Have you tried logging out and back in again?
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 Nobody here knows anything.
What do you mean?
Man
is this good for an big base?
im looking to keep one for a long time like im at bonemass rn and i want one till the end
will this one last or will i need to expand ?
Also how do you fight fenring
fenrings? uhm the ones int he caves or the ones that spawn at night in the mountains?
Wood-Iron beams and grausten rooves. #screenshots message
Hmm. Not used those together. And that screenshot is too dark for me.
The one outside
i actually just fight them like i would anyother thing with a level 4 iron mace and a silver shield
Ashlands is dark. Always dark. Always hot. The ash in the air penetrates my lungs. I remember when the game was fun; now it feels like a chore.
They are weak to spirit, iirc.
Okey
Oh, I know. Could it be a curved vs flat issue?
they are? i cant remember
I did say βiircβ.
It's funny how a mosquitoes is more dangerous than a real dragon in this game
Yeah, bow. Fire arrows are good, from what I recall. But just whatever you have good access to that will do the most damage most efficiently.
Also does plain raids include mosquitoes
yes
sadly not
Oh thank god
I don't want random raids to have mosquitoes and i just havr zero counter with them
Deathsquitoes are 'very weak' to block/parry.
Are you playing on a server? You may need to use dev commands. Or find a way to clip through the structure.
if you use root harnesk they are laughably easy to deal with π
Problem is i suck at parry
π
But seriously, you don't even need to parry. Just block. The next swing is adequate.
Bow main you see
How do i train parry
If bow main, shoot them from a distance.
Also how is bow danage calculated in this game
Bow damage + the arrow damage?
Yes
press right click just before they hit you most of the mob attacks until ashlands are telegraphed pretty well so you don't really need to train it, at least from my experience
I always read 'bow main' as someone that's levelling politeness and respect. "If I let them know they're valued, they won't try and kill me..." π
Telegraphing is there, sure, but the parry window is not as wide as the 'wind up' to a mob's swing.
Also, I have no idea how you would level parry when you only use a ranged weapon.
i mean, can't you block with ranged weapons same way as with mage staves?
I do have abyssal razor
Already found another 2 leviathan for me to level up it to lv 4
I'm not at a crafting bench, but I would presume that any weapon that has a 'block value' can block. Shields would obviously be best at it. I'm not sure how block/parry with a bow compares to a sword/mace/etc.
its completely awful
then go back a biome with a buckler and a mace/sword depending on where you are in the progression and lvl those block and melee skills
bows have like 15% of the block the melee weapons of their tier have
Deathsquitos are probably the easiest mob in plains to handle if you just have a shield
Right click then oneshot it
Is the personal chest like an ender chest from Minecraft or just a locked one?
just locked one
doesn't have a lot of slots either
I just found a deep canyon thing lol
does thistle regrow like berries n mushrooms do?
they respawn yes
Does thistle respawn at the same rate as berries and mushrooms?
idd guess yes but im not sure about that
at least seems like they respawn roughly the same rate
I have berries, thistles and shrooms mixed in "farming" trails and they seem to respawn about the same time
never seen a situation where one of those specific resources would be missing from the trail when I go around picking them up
(created a trail with hoe to mark an optimal path between larger batches of gatherable resources)
although, they do seem to respawn in different way, a little bit? The rate seems like same, but there is this weird mechanism for those resources to appear. Even if on paper it has respawned, it usually takes some time for the world to generate it
not an issue if you visit the area occasionally and don't go there pick them up when you do, but the first time you go there after it has respawned it does not appear to be there, gotta be a little patient for them to appear...
shrodingers respawn?
That's why you should always eat while sailing
And don't go anywhere near plains if you're not ready
and now i don't even know if i can get the longshipback
they do enjoy doing their drive bys...
i can't cope with this anymore
Do you have materials for a new boat?
no
no 5 iron?
If it's close you could even use a raft
lacking in deerskin for basic karve
Hunt some deer then
if got a bow very simple to hunt them
i hate those mosquitoes so much
Flint knife is very cheap and effective too
I'd rather use a spear than knife
that throw attack is really good for hunting when you learn it
I use the throw attack to aggro all the boars at a boar rune before they can walk away
Sounds like it might be a job for the Body [and Boat] Recovery Squadβ¦
Or a backup if you really don't want to get it back
(This is what I did when I discovered deathsquitos
)
Just nuke the plains, ez. Death to all deathsquitos

who tf in the right mind think that giving range mob the ability to attack when swimming
is a good idea bruh teh fuling killed me twice
i hate this game so much
sorry to say but dont go swimming with enemies nearby
i literally went the to recover my stuff
how is it fair they can range attack when swimming and we can't do stuff
not to mention they have infinite stamina
i figured out they can range arrack when i was attacked bya grewdwarf in the water and have avoided the water 90% of the time
imma just get another seed and hope the map generation won't fuck me over when they ask me to cross the plains to get to the bonemass boss
most of the time swamps are coastal so make sure your not taking the long way through
also each world should ahve multiple boss spawns for each boss
Yeah, there are 5 Bonemass altars.
they point to the nearest boss spawn
wooo valheim is the first game on steam ive logged 400 hours on
congrats
i think i just played too many games
i have quite a few games with more than 200 and more with over 500 then then i get to warthunder and its a astonishing 5300 hours
my hours are spread evenly as well, and then there is terraria, sitting at 1k+ hours
Damn i got 1.2k in terraria
If I added up every hour from every game I've played,, wonder how many zeros i'd need
hello all; brand new to discord and i'm wondering how the servers are for Valheim, looking to try some multi\
you can look through servers in #1024264966712340510 π
gratzi
hey, my friend and i were playing on the prt before ashlands and would like to keep playing, our world shws up fine as does my character, but his does not. looking in back ups theres backups for his charater but they dont seem to work, it does not display any error message, hes just not able to see or select his character.
Hi everyone i just joined
stop posting the same messege to multiple channels
Because heβs a miniboss?
He has low knockback resistance so you can easily kill him by using mace secondary to repeatedly push him away
he is a miniboss of the penultimate biome π
i stumbled across him, and noped right back out
Jesus, The Queen is one of the worst fights I ever experienced in video gaming history. I play for 30 years games.
after 1h we had to stop because her regen were faster than we could deal dmg. maybe with better weapons its more fun
hmm. what weapons were you using?
Frostner
why not mistlands weapons..?
That would be the reason why... you were using a weapon from not just previous biome but the one before that.
bruh.. that's mountain tier weapon.. and the spirit dmg doesn't even apply to her π
You were using a weapon that is two tiers below the tier the boss is at...
Literally the game's problem clearly
cool, 100 scrap metal got deleted because of the incredibly stupid choice to make the first person to enter a servers chunk the server host
the person left the game, and it caused the forges and everything to still accept my materials but not get flled
whats the point of a dedicated server if its not the host of the server?
im so upset
It runs 24/7.
that took forever to mine
well i thought its imba and the slow helped me a lot in Mistlands
still I think its a very bad boss especially if you are 2. 80% of the time you try to find him in the mist, kiting 1000 adds, caring for rested buff and bonemass and 120k hp. I think 50k is enough to be it still fair
the lack of keeping aggro mechanic is awful too. clearly not a multiplayer game
It's not, correct.
its who ever made most dmg, isnt it?
Also, who has 120k HP?
the queen fight is fine, if you have mistlands gear. i did it with a friend, and it was fine.
if you're using old gear then you're definitely not ready to move to the next biome. as it is the queen is just a taste of what's coming after. so figure it out, or your next complaint will be the entire ashlands biome...
is it worth upgrading the frostner if it only upgrades the frost damage? and why is that? shouldn't upgrade the blunt and spirit aswell?
the queen 12.500 Health
Exactly.
oh put a zero too much
how much is it if you are two?
need like 400 bolts of carapace to kill her
She has a pierce resistance
and I dont have a pain in the ass resistance
i personally think so, yes. frostner has a lot of uses all over the world, it's worth investing in imho
Itβs best to melee her or use elemental magic. Donβt use blood magic as your main source of damage, doing that caused my only death to a boss (you run out of eitr very fast because skeletons are stupid).
Frostner was fine against Ashland warriors too
another reason why I thought its fine against Queen too
Hello all, I looking for a group of people to play with, ive made it to the mistlands on 2 separate play throughs and am looking to start fresh with a group and go to the ashlands.
yeah but it only upgrades the frost from 40 to 46 and block force from 30 to 35
have you even made/tried mistlands gear...?
but i guess i have to take two hand Hammer now
Itβll also increase the durability significantly
my armor is msitlands lvl 2 carapace
imean you don't have to, it's up to you. but i do upgrade it. if you use it a lot it's worth
and my buddy was spammming ice whle I tried everything
i only upgrades it 2 times because i found 3 veins in one.
so more like a luxory early upgrade
hey chat do any of you know if i add a mod that add's ,more creatures and i later dont like it can i remove it from the list of mods without breaking the world?
i upgraded, but i mean its weird it only uprades frost dmg but blunt and spirit stay the same
i got the sword
I've used Frostner to kill Queen, and it worked just fine. It did more damage than the other 1 handed options I had available relative to my weapon skills. Since spears are pretty horrible against her, and I didn't want to give up shield. Use the Alt attack a lot.
π€·ββοΈ i don't think it's that weird, not everything should be linear. some things later get a new dmg type after upgrading
All over, I'd rather Frostner upgraded Frost over Blunt, it separates it from most other weapons, and there's not much that resists frost.
Part of why the weapon is so useful for as long as it is.
I used it to kill queen and used it into Ashlands. Though I should probably upgrade there.
Right now the main reason to use porcupine instead of frostner is because frostner has very low stagger. If the blunt damage increased the frostnerβs stagger would increase too.
how you dealt with all the adds that come with Queen?
Mostly by dodging or running back, swapping to demolisher and smash them, before swapping back to frostner for the boss.
on what difficulty?
do troll caves respawn?
Normal. Haven't bothered trying hard in mist/ash yet.
Only the mushrooms will respawn, nothing else
I've also done queen and ash with magic, and felt that was about equal to using frostner personally. Though I do have higher club skill than magic skills.
Itβs best to spend that trollhide to upgrade armor if you donβt have it at level 3 yet
Unless you really want the set bonus, the cape is useless
how you manage all the dmg and knockback and poison?
i do want the set bonus
I would probably have swapped to mistwalker in mistlands, if my sword skill wasn't in single digit. :p (my least used weapon type, together with crossbow)
If you used the mistwalker you couldβve changed that
I realised I didn't want to start from scratch on sword in mistlands, I'd rather start a new game with the character and use sword in say bronze etc and learn it up through the game.
And my club skill was already in the 90's, so I did more damage with frostner than mistwalker anyways.
Iβve never had a weapon skill in 90s. I donβt die often, they just never get that high throughout a playthrough.
I'm not saying frostner is the best weapon ever against queen. Just saying it does the job well enough, that I didn't have a problem with it.
then i dont understand how we failed, ah, I didnt use Demolisher
and how is the multiplayer scaling per player for a boss? 0? 2x Hp?
I think itβs +40% health per player
Poison resistance mead naturally, also mostly positioning, kiting, and dodging most of the attacks (using blocks more as a safety if I screw up the dodge timing). I learned to position myself and read the tells on the spit attack so I could dodge away behind something (edge, pillars etc), to avoid most of the spit.
so its more elden Ring gameplay than
Unless you have a buckler, blocking a bossβ attacks is usually best because it saves the most stamina
In general, I never find it worthwhile to block bosses, always dodge.
what even does the set bonus do, and is the +15 sneak per piece a good ammount, idk if thats a lot or not
+15 sneak is the set bonus, individual pieces only have defence
is that a lot tho
Not particularly. Youβll notice a difference but itβs not huge
You where playing it coop with a friend right? And they used magic? Ask them to use the fire staff, and save mana to use it to wipe out adds/spawns, to let you focus on dodging and damage. That helps a lot.
Tbh, you don't really need a cape until mountain. Capes give very little defense, and is generally not worth upgrading unless you just happened to have the materials already. (1,2,3,4 at max). If you don't care for the set bonus, the deer cape is identical. And even just skipping it is a single defence.
yeah but 1 defense could be the difference between 1 hp and 0
i am going to make the cape just for the set bonus then, is there any easy way to find and farm trolls? im using the finewood bow with fire arrows
Ah, don't remember how the heck the armour vs damage math works in this game. But if you craft the other 3 troll pieces you should have defense 18 already, I'd much rather spend extra troll pieces upgrading those for +2 defence each upgrade.
Itβs best to make the cape after you have full level 3 armor
