Have you done the Hildir quests?
i have not
Well there’s only one raid that happens away from base structures, which is wolves, and only one black humanoid mob type, which are called Fenrings, and their raids only start happening after one of said quests.
But Fenrings do also spawn in the mountains at night. So I reckon you had a wolf raid and some Fenrings just happened to tag along.
i keep sidetracking my progression cuz i cant stop building shit even tho i have barely unlocked the interesting building materials
Have you beaten Bonemass, @buoyant ether?
yeah
and there was only 2 black humanoid kind of mobs, no wolves or nothing
so im guessing its that then
probably. though you don't usually see two of them together unless it's a raid.
A Skeleton Suprise
Yep. It takes a little while for the wolves to appear. Two Fenrings together is rare, but possible. But they do move fast and are very aggressive.
Drakes are so annoying they bombard you every 15 seconds
it's good not to stay in one place
like setting up a new base far away every time you beat a boss
thats what im currently doing in my playthrough
on my 3rd base
im not even going to try to establish a 4th base in the mountains im sticking with a small shelter with a portal to my 3rd base
moder is a long way from my 3rd base tho
itll be a long boat ride there
why? mountain bases are the best!
not much flat area to build on
gotta find a larger mountain with a flat area
my biggest challenge right now is building a bunch of stairs down to the meadows so i can drag a wagon to the top so i can get the silver ore i just mined
The roof pieces work like a ramp for carts too. Just make sure you have plenty of landings so you can recharge your stamina.
mfw my cart went into the water and now im walking on it
totally gonna use this to build my wall out
Like this?
yeah
that's kinda part of the charm
but it does take some time to grow into it and make it look nice -- if you've got multiple bases that can be particularly time consuming
Charm and challenge.
sticking to one base gets old quick, for me and my crew at least
so we build a new one every boss and we assign tasks, who builds what
Far away from The earlier one? Or ?
Thats not a Bad idea
Am tryna not have The same bases as last time
I usually have a base in most biomes (typically skip black forest and mountains and just have a outpost for the sake of getting a rested buff & storage). Eventually, the meadows base gets downgraded once I reach plains.
Im still feening for that mountaun base
Also might add The mod that adds deepnorth + adds to mistlands and ashlands
Once im done with plains
yep, scout out for the farthest place on the other side of the world 🤣
in the early game it's easy, we don't need to carry much
but later we pack the boat with carts and sail off
just destroy the cart carry up the pieces and build it up there? no stairs needed to drag it up unless you absolutely want to
Maybe i should disable stuff thru portals, would add a lot to The run
Im just very impatient 😭
That’s true Easy Mode
you should! at least try it once
That could break the deep north once its released
we're looking at least a year before we see anything Deep North
I imagine they'll take two years more to make the final biome really perfect
its a pretty cool mod
What’s better fenris or silver armor
why would it do that ? ofc id play it in a different world
depends, fenris is rly good for tis mobility, silver gives protecc
why, in big black forests when i am looking for trolls i never find one, but the second there is a miniscule black forest biome 2 of them spawn
well first troll in my new world down
if it's towards the center it just has to do with the way they made that area spawn 🌟
the raspberries look like strawberries
i guess they look like that because of the low poly shape, with raspberries irl being more uneven
goddamn its hard to find a server WITH what im looking for 😫 😫
Opinion wanted: I just cleared my first crypt since playing again, what's the first thing I should invest iron into?
most are modded to all hell or just normal difficulty...
armor ofc
Really armor? I expected pick axe, or shield
u can do with a worse pickaxe until u get more iron, armor is what lets u fuck and stay alive the best so i'd prioritize that
You make a valid case
boat, pickaxe, mace (mace not really necesseary but very nice for bonemass)
I posted this the last time this question was asked…
For any new materials I feel my priority list goes something like:
Boats > crafting table upgrades > shields > armors > weapons
I appreciate all the advice, I gotta ask though, why boat? the bronze boat is pretty decent, is it just speed?
and cargo capacity
yeah, it will make taking iron and other metals home much easier
bronze boat will take damage if you are in a storm in the ocean
Interesting, ok ok I got it thanks guys
even longship will, but it has more hp
only if you're piloting the ship poorly. karve can take stormy ocean swells just fine if you're not reckless
Karve: small storage, easy to maneuver, could be sank easier by accident or serpents. mostly used as a scout ship once you get a longship(if at all).
Longship: more storage, faster top speed, harder to maneuver, more health/harder to sink. Can be used to transport tames easier than karve.
Drakkar is only used to go to Ashlands, i think he is faster than longship but his size is just annoying to maneuver
Always using karve, only using Longship when i need to transport some metals
I have a question :)) Can Valheim do so ppl can make A family ? idk where to text so i just text here :))
Steam family?
No uhm in-game
he wanna mate with someone
Like to be a child
LOL
Girl :))
probably this could be a mod
she*
I could be fun ngl aha :))
wrong server my guy
But this is far way from the game purpose
you still can make some breeds with tames and watch babies grow into his adult forms
I mean that people can be a child in the same way that you can be both children and adults ik that they do that in bed because it's just silly :))
Sorry my english is very bad 🙂
does upgrading the trollstav increase the troll damage/hp?
i alway invest first in the iron axe to kill aboms more quick 😄
what is the dundr supposed to be good for
and then the bow and then i will not make anything for a while because i want the root armor 😄
many are wondering the same thing
hunting aboms and emptying out more crypts
ha okay
Morgens and single targets
still slower TTK than lightning nidhogg/slayer
naughty naughty
Ofc :))
it's probably for fire sword in ice biome, hard to say till the game is done
Might be a key item for your trip to Valhalla at the end of it all(wild speculation only).
so upgrading trollstav doesnt do anything beyond durability?
How does armor work? just flat damage reduction equal to armor value or what?
maaaaan i just found a triple afk surtling spawner in my 48 crypt swamp
so you can walk a straight line and hit 7 spawners, or afk at 3 now, so goood
Can i disable the hoe's dust particles when using it
i dont think so
If you can find the spawners ID then you could try the forcedelete command. Otherwise I don't know.
This list, toward the bottom, I have seen "spawner" listed:https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Item_IDs
Is it worth making fenris claws without the armor
I have to say its amazing running/jumping around the Mistlands with the feathered cloak and run and jump in the 90's. Then with the stamina regen mead, yeah, we can cover a lot of ground pretty fast.
Askvin cape my beloved ❤️
asksvin cape+fenris set
i didnt really experince the moutins that much?
blew threw it in a day
I have to agree with @fossil delta. Before I get Eitr, probably 90% of my deaths are from emulating StoneMountain64 (falling)
I can't live without the feather cape.
shame. mountains can be pretty fun. fenris set gives +movement speed
askvin cape is great.
Feather cape is kinda useless in ashlands do the lack of hights
Skull emoji
wha
that is all
being the best weapon ingame
yelling like an old farmer at graydwarfs who get on your land
i like both ashlands capes, but mostly been using ashen
(i fucking love the dundr)
Bro i never expected Dundr would get this use (gene)
i use it like a DB shotgun for wild punks who get on MY land
dundr seems ok? but i dont have a lot of ele skill. so far tend to not use staffs much..
paradox
night time, storming, boat full of iron. where the serpents at i want some meat
night storms on the ocean are so asthetically pleasing
Valheim is aestethical by himself
lol yeah. but imean, so far i kinda prefer physical weapons. im kindof on the fence about eitr foods/gear
these stylized graphics are gorgeous
Ye me too. Melee seems a lot more challenging
kinda more interested in crossbows than shotguns
etir food is alot more annoying to make then health
cant wait for the LMG staff in DN 😄
tbf, i usually hate shotguns in games. i want range
MLG
sniper staff...
yes please
MLG is more fun
Oh, i think shotguns are pretty funny in fps and zombie games
Much more for the visual of your enemy blowing up
lol there is that
well. ashlands has royally screwed my skill levels. I'd been away from games generally for a while, bout a month ago i got back in to tackle mistlands. skills took a hit, but. ashlands has absolutely tanked them.
i already beat fader so im just waiting for smth new
i been having a lot of fun. lol
i hated fader alot
i havent done a tonnn yet. got most mats, but only just approaching the "farming" stage. still haven't seen a bonemaw
i hope you have some harpoons on hand.
and look for funny lights in the water
i have a few harpoons. do mats sink like scales?
pretty sure their meat and teeth float just uh...
make sure when you kill them you kill them VERY close to land
because water heat you mean?
yeah
because if you kill them in even somewhat deep water your gonna die before you can get the stuff
challenge accepted
seems like about 10 seconds before the water starts to burn
also im a little disappointed we can't ride lox through stone portal :/
this game so addicting haha
one of the best games in years, hands down
yes, specially when playing with your friends
yep. only have one friend that really plays with me. I'm trying to get my brother into it. so far all he wants to do is build though...
is the plains hilder boss hard?
only if you don't like dying
it's not so bad if you have mistlands gear
hmm guess ill wait, i was wanting to finish that till i found out the theres still only two slots for the clothes
two slots?
for wood walls what is the back?
only the chest and helmet, i was h oping itd be 4 slots for like 100% stam or something
after living in the plains so long when i go to the meadows and a bird flies by im pulling my sword and shield out lmao
oh, yeah. and if i understand correctly, that buff only applies to hammer/hoe/cultivator? there are other fun things though.
yeah stam usage annoys the hell outta me when im building/terraforming
yeah hoe stam usage is outta control
Time to visit Hildir.
people use hildir clothes?
while building, sure
or to look pretty while sailing >.>
That's what they're for, yeah.
I love how you have me blocked derek yet you still respond, a true classic
Wait holy you unblocked lmao
I don't?
You used to I know that for sure
Unlucky get on my level
I've blocked most people at some point and no doubt vice versa.
I'll never be as good as you @light snow
It's a privilege to be blocked by him.
Truly
I made a fresh save in valheim but I started with Eikthyr and Elder's heads on stones already?
I spent all last night looking for this fallen Valkyrie, getting so annoyed as that’s our current road block for gear
listen for them
I’m finding the magic path seems pretty weak in Ashlands at first
and look up
Been looking up all the time, but what do they sound like?
thats not a new world
hard to describe maybe. but it's distinctive, so listen for anything abnormal. couple different sounds they make iguess, one is allllmost like a seeker, but lower in pitch. one is like a ....choked caw?
is the frostner club better than the iron mace?
I mean, I deleted previous one and DID make a new one
xD
in the job of a mace the iron one is better
if your looking to slow down(frost) your enemies and kill them (not quite as fast ) and well to kill kill undead quickly (spirit)
Is it possible to get valheim mods on Xbox?
Do all tamable animals need to stand on solid ground in order to breed?
Ground, no. But a flat surface I am fairly certain, yes. Hence why breeding towers work with a single floor piece per animal.
Is it guys?
why not ask in #mods-discussion
Aight
But no, sadly.
A good piece of info to have is why. Is it simply Xbox doesn't allow for modded content or is the modding community just so new for that platform that there is no content yet, ect. So far, I have not heard a reason, just that there are no mods for Xbox.
For a great many years there were no mods on console, period. I have seen mention of there now being mods for a few games I follow.
So from my limited knowledge the limitation is lack of mod creators.
Yes
It depends on what you’re fighting. It is more effective against most enemies, but not stone golems, Moder or lox. I usually keep both a frostner and iron mace on me in mountains.
The former. I think some games CAN now, but that's down to the individual developers.
For a game to have mods on console the mod support needs to be built into the game
Well paraphrased.
Maybe once Valheim officially launches they can work on Console mods. If Skyrim and Fo4 can do it thru Bethesda.net on consoles im sure Iron Gate could think of a way to do it. But while in early access, No point since it wouldnt be stable for consoles
They don't support PC mods so I can't see them doing it for console.
There's also extra hoops to jump through for mods on XBox - Microsoft won't allow just any mod - they have to be curated by the devs/publisher.
wait theres no PC mod support yet. What are modders using than.
Third party tools.
hmm interesting. didnt know that
Is it possible to get a charred fortress to explode? I've battering rammed the base of the full outer & center tower walls but it hasn't blown up
Are we allowed to post screen captures here?
x.x yeah but I need advice was why I was asking
You can post images in #valheim-help
I hope someone answers x.x ty
Yeah no one answered XD I figured as much. so... I guess the question is... If most of your starting area is Black Forest with small spots of meadows and two tiny mountain spots, should you keep that map or try again?
Lots of black forest with some nearby mountains is a very good starting area
black forest mean copper all around you its good for start
ty ty
Is the silver armor good for plains
Yes, I always use it going from mountains to plains
it's the intended heavy armor set to first enter plains in yea
If you hate getting pierced on the plains, both by squittos and fulings, you may want to keep using the root harness.
i mean it's good, but padded armor is better once u can make it 😅
and yes.. root chest is a MUST have in plains
it will just save u from so many deaths when u r attacked by multiple deathsquitos
Silver armor is good enough for deathsquitos but if you have fenris armor keep the root harnesk
the root chest is too op to change it for anything
the movement penalty is pretty severe so most people are running root body, best helm they can make, and fenris leg in the plains
Unless you’re at your first fuling village and don’t have fire resistance mead for the shamans
hmm, tbh didnt meet any shaman yet sadly, all camps were without them
I never find enough fenris hair for any fenris armor
2* fuling do 180 on hard to that setup so you can survive, even more so on normal
you can get enough for legs in like 2 caves
i'm not going anywhere near to a 2 star fuling 😅
you also have the hildir howling cave to loot
i'd just raise ground and shoot him with bow
The hair doesn’t generate for me because of luck. I know what objects to look for, they just aren’t there.
I never even saw a cultist in my first world and went to at least 3 frost caves
i feel dumb i never upgraded my fenris legs, so 2* fuling do less than 180 in that setup lol
i dont think ive seen a cave without hair on the walls
older seeds don't generate newer things that well i think it's why they get updated. i don't think it's really a current bug, more of something existing in older worlds
Old worlds do generate new things in areas that haven’t been explored
they do, but they don't seem to generate correctly
for instance, ashlands older world the shortline generates like 50 feet inland
deathsquitos do 19 damage with padded helm, root body, fenris legs on hard lol
Okay, so I have Moder, and Yag discovered, both not killed. If I kill Moder, what Raids Open/Close? Contemplating if I do it now or later.
I haven't found Merchant/Clothes Lady Yet
Spoilers tho, now I know the last boss is Called Darth Fader 😦
We have no idea what the last boss is called.
well given hello moder, hello fader... we can assume that it's probably camp granata
I went to 3 Frost Caves, and had level 4, of all 3 pieces, RNG is RNG
Is Moder and Fader, mother and father in some language?
Alrighty y’all, who decided that wolves deal slashing damage?
Will 22 Chests or Ruby/Amber be enough when i finally find the merchant? Also have 11000 gold in piles.
Unsure if Inflation has hit him yet
it's one banana, michael. what could it cost, $10?
You might want another chest or two… 🤣
Okay, thanks 🙂
Why….
Should be plenty, unless you want to be able to afford making multiples of certain weapons at lvl 4, and want to buy lots of eggs once you defeat the 5th boss.
We get pet dragons now? 😮
No. Something else.
HYPE
The eggs are 1,500 gold each.
Definitely Haldor's most overpriced item.
Not much else to use the gold for.
Only thing I can think of that would come from eggs would be, Necks, Leeches, Drakes, and Serpents.. OMG We Get Serpents?!
No, totally new creature.
Makes me want to find him even more now 😮
No thanks 😄
Anyone else have terrible lag in Ashlands? Local game, no build items around, 14700/3070/96GB RAM.
super annoying, caused an unavoidable death
I haven't gotten to Ashlands yet. Getting used to the new boat.
So far I hate it.
Looks awesome, but I thought the long boat was bad...
takes too long
Dont have a server or world but am trying to join someone for a fresh start
valheim
been trying that its just old worlds no one new
That sucks.
Yeah I use it to get to the Ashlands, but still longship for exploring. The new boat is too unwieldy and annoying
I made the mistake of taking it into Mistlands. I don't even want to get back on the boat.
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so hard to find actual shallow water to destroy it in.
Sounds like you need a Raft 🙂
just go crazy with a tail wind up onto a sandy beach
I actually like the Karve the best.
Eh the speed difference is too significant imo
Except it cant carry enough 😦
When I am exploring, its more about me carrying it.
I also find it annoying managing the karve in heavy seas, you constantly get thrown off course
Yep. Similar specs.
I play with low death penalty settings or I'd be raging. Died to a charred warrior where the game just froze for about 2 seconds right as I was about to parry
Yeah, I am thinking of changing to that setting. I have several skills in the 80's and 90's.
Do it. The game is too buggy and janky not to
Last playthrough I had zero legit deaths, and two lategame deaths to bugs. One was hysterical - asksvin charged me while my back was to an incline, and we both launched like 100 yards into the air
Part of why I am holding off going is to give time for the current ptp fixes to go public.
eh none of those is going to fix some of the fundamental bizarro bugs in the game
I've died 4 or 5 times this play through. All due to my own mistakes, so won't complain.
I’m not sure those are going fix the lag.
Were you playing during the first 6 months it was released in EA? They have fixed a LOT of issues over the years.

I was not. But I am sure that they will fix it eventually. I just am not convinced the lag is caused by spawn rates. And that seems to be what they’re focussed on currently.
They have a work list on the official website. Its still pretty long.
Which tells me why its staying in play test for so long.
sure would be nice to knoiw where yag was lol
half a beech tree log is trapped on top of a giant oak tree because when I cut down the beech, it fell against the oak and some how lodged itself perpendicular to the oak's trunk
I find him by sailing far more often than finding whatever those things are called.
I found Yag, in my first plains, 7 steps in, cos i fell down a mountain, Vegvisirs are easy 😛
That happens fairly often when I cut down my tree farms.
I believe that’s more that most of the team is (or has been) on holiday.
i go sail, it gets foggy
Pretty sure the whole team went on holiday. They understand the value of time off.
Absolutely.
Its like when the game first released, and they blew up in sales, they all disappeared for a month, to sip cocktails on golden sandy beaches 😂
If I were them, thats what I would have done.
Plus they were what? 4 people back then?
4 or 5, was very small team...
Does anyone have the original roadmap pic saved?
We were gonna have so much that year apparently 😂
Not a huge team now. Still less than 15, aren't they?
Still only one or two coders.
I dont mind personally how long the updates take, cos eventually, its amazing
Same here. Keep up the quality, and I will wait however long it takes.
Everytime I come back to this game after a while, its like magical all over again, its one of the few games that can still inspire and captivate like that
I have never, ever played a game this much without modding it.
Still have mistlands and ashlands to do (all new content to me)
I also play Vanilla, I like it the way it is
So by that alone I have to consider this my favorite game of all time.
4300 hours without mods just blows my mind.
theres a few Qol Mods thatll change your life
Thats a few hours 😄
Best of all, over 2000 of those hours are playing Valheim with my wife. She has never gotten so into a game in over 33 years of marriage.
multicraft just just straight up be a thing in the game. and planteasily has really helped my wrist lol
I will eventually use mods, for sure. I just want to play the full game first.
you already have if you have 4300 hours 😛
Kind of. I did treat myself by turning off the portal limitation about 30 hours ago.
Portal Limitation?
most of the popular mods dont change much, just quality of life stuff mostly. ill have to try something with content eventually
Taking ore/metals/certain items through.
Ah.. See im the opposite, i find that part exciting, that I have to sail my metal back home
ive noticed people around here talk about modding like its putting a buncha cheats in lol
I wish Portals would only work if naked
How many hours do you have?
Only 1000
On this account, think other steam account had 700 before i gave it to my daughter
nothing wrong with changing portals, its just a pure time saver
I made it to over 4300 before I turned it off.
you can value your time
im sure ill eventually do it once i get sick of sailing half the world every time i want stone iron
Exactly. I decided I have put in my time, and now I can use a lot less of it sailing back to my bases. Been there, done it hundreds of times, and I am done doing it now that I have the option.
I took massive break tho, so this playthru is like playing all over again, Aboms/Frost Caves are new to me, and those tar pits i saw, they new... 2 new biomes to do, i got plenty hours left 😄
like right now im hauling the blackmetal i got while mining stone pillars in the plains. and the wind has been against me THE ENTIRE damned time
basically twiddling my thumbs while i spend 45 minutes getting home
Yeah, only thing that makes it really worth it to me is getting serpents.
In regards to serpents, those scales only for a shield?
Yeah, darn good shield too. Its resistance seems to stack with the root harness too. Wiki also says it does. I took maybe 1 point of damage from the squittos.
i live off serpent stew as early as i can cook it. bringing home like 18 a night
but i still dont have a trophy
Ive only killed 3 serpents, looted the scales/trophy first time, now i just jump in the water for the meat.. Ive spent many hours sailing ocean but they never spawn
Yeah, I don't have a trophy either, but that is mostly my fault. I only take them ashore while I need scales.
i guess theres a mod that lets you swim underwater, serpent recovery could be a thing lol
I find those chitin dudes everywhere tho.. Expected Serpent Scale Armor, and Chitin Armor 😦
ive never bothered with the shield either
Yah wasnt a buckler :p
That would be cool, but would be too powerful too early in the game. The Serpent Shield is bad enough.
and tbh finding levi on a raft is annoying as hell so i dont ever get to use the dagger before its no good
Its good until the plains. At least, last time I played around with daggers, it was.
Daggers are very appealing. Probably just as OP as bows with a high skill. It was getting pretty fast and low stamina burn with just a 50 skill.
Bow gets good? I find the stamina useage too much, and takes too long to draw
You get so much faster with a high skill.
Altho, my bow skill is only 36, and Sword is 63 (Swapped to it after killing Bonemass, still aint killed Moder 😂 )
Like with an 80, I am fast enough to kill Gjall before they even get close enough to attack me.
No clue what they are, but alright XD
A terror of the Mistlands.
They have a drop that makes a very helpful bomb. So I like it when I run into one every 5 minutes.
if lox ai wassnt so ADHD youd never be able to step into the plains
crazy fast, youd stam out, and they can climb steep ass terrain without losing any speed
Yeah, i shot one from AGES away, and managed to kill it before it even realised what was going on.. Took alot of arrows, but it didnt seem to respond from a VERY far distance
Lox are great for easily killing Growths. Assuming you have a good run and jump skill to pull off luring them to one another.
Its also fun when you can lure growths into fuling villages.
on hard fulings crap on them
I play standard. Hard enough not using parry and dodge roll.
growth respawn time is so long and they only drop 1 tar. im not happy about it lol
i want lots of tar
I drained a Tar Pit, was kind of cool, was trying to pickaxe the items, and it just happened haha
I do fine once I have about 10 stacks. I don't do much building anymore.
my boats got a full load, about 70 hp left, and it just started storming at night in the ocean 🙂
Sounds like your playing Valheim. 😄
i just killed one and jumped on it as it was dying and snagged a trophy lol
Nice. I rarely pull that off.
im trying to find a way to kill it with melee, i cant ever seem to get a swing off before the water puts my weapon away
or i land on its head and cant hit it
If landed on its head, couldnt you just bow it?
You might be able to pull ift off with the knife's special. Maybe. Hard to time with its animation.
Any way to get a star boar from another island to my home island?
its rare to land and staay on its head, you wouldnt be bow ready
Can throw an Ooze Bomb while jumped?
You CAN do it using one of the boats. The bigger the better.
get harpoon, build ramp onto boat, harpoon boar, drag boar onto boat, sail home?
and it will stay on the boat huh
Maybe.
No clue, im just thinking while typing 😛
ill try =]
Better if you keep it harpooned.
Prepare where your taking it before you take it. Once on land, it will try to run back home. Even swim there.
k
That or tame it before you try moving it.
Of course, then to harpoon it, you have to turn on friendly fire.
Honestly, sounds like too much trouble, just shoot it 🙂
Personally I build a farm for it there, and put a portal near by.
They do not, which is why I said farm. I then do my planting there, so I spend enough time for them to breed.
IF its close enough, I make my new base there, so I spend even more time around them with everything else.
I dont get why people need a boar farm tho...
In solo you really don't . If its a server with more players, its much more worth while.
Sailing for 100 hours is tough dude
Ah true
Only reason I did a farm this time was I found a 2 star. Early.
Suppose not everyone explores their map to, so, they dont just randomly kill 100s of boars
boar farm is a waste of time unless you have a server of like 5+
My wife and I do a lot of exploring, so normally we do not bother. But it just fell into our laps this time.
yeah If I see a 1/2 star early on I'll snag em
Ah nice you play with your wife ❤️
I play with my 2 kids, but they do 0 farming of any kind, and just usewhatever i find...
Unfortunately our kids did not like Valheim that much. Not that they really gave it a try. Maybe played 30 hours or so.
Pretty sure my daughter only plays, cos its playign with Dad
But they are also all adults, have jobs, relationships, etc... So not much time for mom and dad anymore.
Once you get grandkids, and they level up, snag them to play with ya ❤️
Our first arrives in November.
Congrats! Then 6 levels, and they will understand the basics 😛
I am a adult and my parents are still alive. I call them every couple months to check up on them since they are out of state.
I am an adult, I have 2 kids. I live in a small town of 2500 ish people, i see my parents every day 😂
Yeah, they don't live near us anymore. 1 is out in AZ, the others are all currently in Hawaii. We live in St Louis.
We all use a family Discord channel, so are regularly sharing pictures, funny memes, and short messages.
similar. I'm in colorado and parents are in michigan.
i wonder if theres a way to pick and choose what gets increased resources, id like 1.5x on stone, but 1.5x on the world settings doubles all your crops
Just 2 hit an Abomination 😂
Probably with a mod?
1.5x stone? Just go copper mining 😉
can dragon eggs respawn in the nest?
Yes.
build my base defenses and the game stops raiding me lol
Its random. I have gone loooong periods of time without a raid.
Plus you have to be at a qualified "base" when the check occurs.
If you learn anything from Valheim it's: The things you prep for will never happen, and the things you do not prep for WILL happen
exactly
Someone dm me if you wanna start a world
doesnt work
Doesn't mean bring it into the wrong channel.
nah Im good
If you continue, the mods will be involved, just saying.
stfu
maybe it's just your charming personality that "doesn't work"?
good morning
Someone dm me if you wanna start a world
did som one atempted a triall of tyr including Ashlands?
what's up with getting stuck in the falling animation in the ashlands metal nodes?
not sure, but it's a known issue they are troubleshooting in PTB aparently.
im having extreme difficulties playing the game solo on normal difficulty. im in the swamps rn. is the game meant to be super challenging as a solo player?
yep. hence the "this game is brutal" is in the games description. Though, they have added wolrd modifiers to make it easier or harder depending on your preference.
it can be but there's ways to deal with everything once you learn. Sort of like dark souls there are players who figured everything out and can beat the game naked (exaggeration)
I play on a dedicated server. alone. since my friends ditched me. LOL, so I wasnt able to modify the world
ya, servers are a different beast.
and getting the map seed to give myself a small adventage turned out to be impossible.
you could always hop into https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 and see if anything sounds interesting.
you could pack up all your important resources onto your body, quit, and start a new solo game offline on a new map (that you know the seed of) aind bring all your item progress in, with difficulty settings under your control as you please
I was, but Im not really the person to join a random server with random people-
Vehementi has a point. If you were abandoned by your friends, you could start a solo world with the resources you gained.
makes sense, yeah!
also playing with others doesn't have to be "random people", you could try to chat and organize a group with people you might get along with and are of your same interest/activity/newness level etc.
^ that's actually how someone ended up inviting me to their server. I was helping them try to troubleshoot a problem, then we started talking about game tips and they said their friends decided valheim wasn't there game (after beating the 3rd boss) and went back to COD, but he kept on playing on the server.
together, we built out his base and got up to (finding) the 6th boss before some IRL stuff put a halt to our steamrolling through the games content.
What's your food?
beef jerky, queens jam, deer.
That's the problem.
what is killing you a lot
its the best food I can make atm
Deer Stew (not just meat), Minced Meat Sauce, Queen's Jam is all within the realm of what you can currently make.
And should be your combo going into the Swamp.
uhh, nope
I can make some meads but thats about it
we can give you varying degrees of exploration/strategy spoilers, what kind of info would you like to know haha
maybe turning down the difficulty a bit is best so you can figure things out on your own, depending on your prefrences tho
Deer Stew
- Cooked Deer Meat (Meadows)
- Blueberries (Black Forest)
- Carrot (Black Forest)
Minced Meat Sauce
- Boat Meat (Meadows)
- Neck Tail (Meadows)
- Carrot (Black Forest)
Queen's Jam
- Raspberries (Meadows)
- Blueberries (Black Forest)
All of that is pre-Swamp.
Try again?
OHHHHHH I never bothered with growing seeds
🤦♂️
why the facepalm?
you don't have to and it can be tedious, but some of the best food at each level uses farmed stuff
because they think you should play like they do haha
Let me give you one of the best tips you will get:
Food is your highest value priority.
Gear/Weapons are secondary to making sure you have your Food at the level it needs to be at.
999/1000 times people have come here with "I am having issues with X biome" it boils down (PUNS!) to "I am using subpar food, hence the game is more difficult than it should be at this stage."
Get your food on the level, and the Swamp will be a much different experience when you have more health/stamina to work with.
im sorry to be one of them, but thats exactly the reason I am here
i got overwhelmed with playing in the swamps alone so yeah ofc im asking here
I know, and I am not holding it against you.
That's why it was my first question, so that I could explain it.
The "I got seeds and never planted them" = 🤦♂️ because... why would you not plant seeds in the first biome that actually gives you seeds AND gives you the tool to plant them?
Like... what did you think the seeds were for??
you didn't craft and use the mace? what did you think it was for????
it's reasonable to presume that aspects of the game are optional and tehre are multiple paths to victory
phew im not dumb okay? I just really didnt bother with it. I had a lot of other stuff to do. I just forgot about it
May I ask "what other stuff" without you assuming hostility?
getting bronze, building my base, slaying the elder, getting resources, sailing with the boat.
Fair all around, but this is also where you need to start thinking about "next biome prep."
So when you've finished the Swamp, make sure you have what you need ready before you even touch the Mountain. And so on.
Making sure you're ready for first contact with the successive biomes will make them a lot less painful to enter.
For example:
I always have double-Health and one Stamina food from the previous biome when first entering the current one.
And once I upgrade to current biome food-level, I switch from HHS to HSS because I prefer the larger stamina pool.
Hm opposite for me, I usually run HSS until like Mistlands, where the stamina pools get pretty huge with HHS, and the diminishing returns of stamina food becomes more obvious, given that it has no meaningful impact on stamina regen.
Experienced Players vs. New 🤷♂️
at that point I always run HHS in order to parry everything
Also what diminishing returns??
Figure of speech. More lack of returns: having higher stamina pools has no impact on stamina regen
long term ability usage is dependent on your stam usage rate, not your stam pool
True, but it allows me to keep whacking for longer?
It front-loads your ability to do that, yes
And given the best mead in the game has no cooldown and fully replenishes stamina... front-loading ability is more than fine.
I'm not saying there's no benefit to it, but there comes a point where 120 stam vs 200 stam starts to feel like a wash due to regen being the same, but having 250 health and a carapace buckler means you can parry just about everything
Yeah, I think that's a decent point to make like...in a BIG conflict that doesn't happen too often, having a huge stam pool lets you go really ham with a stam potion
Even in a big conflict --> Bottom out stamina taking out as many up-front as possible --> Dodgeroll, walk for 5s while stamina fully replenishes --> Repeat.
Yeah I tend to prefer being able to parry 2 star warriors and 1star plus morgens, just so I can kill them faster
200 stam is enough for other situations for me
Parrying a 2-star Seeker Soldier takes only 160 HP.
Yeah I'm thinking more ashlands
Mistlands I've done both ways, kinda doesn't matter. I find Mistalands trivially easy
I haven't done the blocking chart for Ashlands yet 🤷♂️
But HSS in Mistlands is enough to parry everything in the Mistlands.
yeah I believe it. Bucklers be bucklering
(At 100 skill this drops to 107 HP)
ashlands operates on a different scale cause no biome buckler
Berserkir Axes all day for Ashlands 🙂
Eh, I use them a lot but. For example, tonight I had a valkyrie, like 7 or 8 random charred, a 2 star warrior, and three asksvin
The 2 separate parts of the attack chain that have double-strikes means you are constantly proccing the Lightning chain.
no bonemass ready, had to use shield
I find in realllllly hairy fights with no bonemass, I can kill stuff faster with a buckler than axes, unless they're super clumped
Personal strategy in said scenario:
Equip bow, target Valk.
While targeting Valk, keep Charred between self and Asksvin until Askers kill all Charred for me.
🤷♂️
yeah that def works. That strat with morgen works really well.
Friendly Fire is our FRIEND in Ashlands.
yeah I've had a few reallly gnarly super-spawn fights where I had two morgen and like 15+ other enemies, and all I did was try to bait things in front of the morgens
The sole thing I wish changed is that the Ooze Bomb didn't apply Poison and instead just Slowed enemies.
Having an AoE Slow would be far more useful than AoE Damage in a lot of cases tbh.
since you now have bronze (if you haven't already), I would recommend making the cultivator so you can start your farm. be on the look out for white (meadows) and yellow (swamp) flowers as they will give you seeds to plant and make some of the best foods that biome has to offer. and with regards to carrots, they help carry you in the mistlands as well for food.
ehhh. i use ooze bombs a lot. but i would like/use tar bombs
Tar Bombs could fit the bill quite nicely.
Yeah. IF Ashlands had an atgeir, the snaring atgeir would have been amazing. But unfortunately, cynical game design - they clearly explicitly chose not to put an atgeir or maul in ashlands for that reason
And I wouldn't even care if Tar Bomb requires Growth Trophy to make tbh.
i realllllly like the slow effect from frost. i would use a lot of tar bombs for sure.
I mean, Atgeirs suck in Ashlands anyway given everything has pierce resist 🤷♂️
Frost Arrows need to be nerfed, lmao.
yeah, they'd just be good for the snare
Still the best arrow in the entire game 4 biomes later... like what else has that kind of continued potency?
frostner heh
Frostner sucks ever since they nerfed it.
how'd they nerf it?
idk, frost slow doesn't last long though, and not super great for large mobs
They increased the knockback to the range of an NFL punter.
My weapon should not prevent me from killing things.
ah, yeah I dislike it for that reason, but it's still viable for like 4 biomes straight
frostner was decent for breaking down into ashlands. (shrug)
i never leveled sword skill so i used that instead
I really like daggers and spears. Kind irritates me that we had two biomes in a row where pierce was trash
Arrow Damage-
- Frost: 78
- Needle: 62
- Carapace: 72
- Charred 82
So Frost does 4 less damage, but adds slow....
Why is a single arrow allowed to be that powerful?
Mistwalker is just better 🤷♂️
shrug, no one checked
Balance team not checking numbers is... questionable.
lol...balance team...
Balance individual? 😛
yes. but at 0 sword skill, frostner seemed lioe the way to go. and, that slow effect.
0? Did you not get introduced to our lord and saviour... Krom?
Yeah, it works. The more valheim I play though, the more I think swords are just the best
😭
I am an Axe man, personally.
And Beserkir just seemed like a "We've kept you behind the curve long enough, here's your reward."
i lack the timing skill and low latency internet for 2h weapons lol
Because Berserkir + Ask Armor + Ash Cape is just ===== GO NUTS.
HSS Stamina pool + 30% Attack Cost Reduction
yeah that's my favorite way to do fortresses
have yet to make axes. pribably tomorrow
I don't even mess around taking out ballista anymore, just pop bonemass, jump inside and axes go brrrr
I carry 2 pairs.
Ling for groups, swap to Blood for stronger individual enemies.
I'm not convinced the blood one even does more damage in practical use
against a single target I mean
There's a math threshold thing you can do to find where it is better than Ling.
It would honestly be better for you vs. single targets because you run HHS, so you'd have a higher bonus given more HP to sac.
Ling does just flat-out win when you're engaging 3+ people though, which is why I have both.
Bows should always be Root ofc.
the only mod i want is one that makes the greatsword stab do pierce damage 🥺
That might be true if you tried to play around it and maintain low health. In practice, I'd wager lightning does more damage on average, in a sampling of representative encounters
whew, boss dead in my solo world, all gear maxed, I can never set foot in ashlands again
25% chance to cause 75 damage is an average of +18.75 per swing.
+0.2% damage per individual point of health and rank 2 slash value of 145 means +.29 damage per HP.
18.75 / 0.29 = 64.6bleh
So as soon as you are missing 65 HP, Blood does more individual damage.
@sacred tinsel ☝️
i have finally beaten the game
Yeah and I spend the majority of my time not missing 65 HP
simply get bubbled and go in with no food and eat 3 hp foods!!!
Ashlands HHS is 264 max HP.
So you'd still be hovering at 200, which I'd say is fine 🤷♂️
You'd be missing 25% of your HP on purpose, which isn't really that much of a risk imo.
oops i regenned
not a risk, but trying to force it to happen would just annoy me, and I almostn ever lose that much health in a 1v1 where lightning wouldn't be the clear winner
Oh come on. Just "forget" to block 1 time 😛
I mean, with how choppy and laggy Ashlands is....
Or just... touch the lava. 😉
Do Leviathan spawns affect serpwent spawns?
Spawning a serpent on top of a leviathan is funny though.
That being said, true fun is spawning a bunch of serpents and a few bonemaws then watching the ocean war take place 😄
How do you spawn serpents?
devcommands
Oh haha, here i was thinking you go to the ocean and throw the fish in the sea that wash up on shore or something 😂
They do spawn naturally though during storms
Yeah, but thought there was some other way 😛
they spawn during night and during thunderstorms, thats it tho 🙂
Night snek and storm snek
You all missing the point, this is the comment that got me wondering 😂 I know when they spawn
Aaaah - a fellow enjoyer of snek soup 😂
LoL 🤣
@safe pilot dms
@safe pilot dms
if i go in a sealled tower how many chicken eggs should i get?
2
i havent ran to the a tower yet ever
I think we got 1
starting a no map run today
idk why but im literally fiending for more runs atm
feelin like i could have 3 atm going
in each tower should be 2 eggs 🙂
All I know is that we had to buy one.
the moder boss when he launch that fire attack ,that s actualy some frost fire or is frost magic?
moder is a She, just a quick Fyi
It deals ice damage because they are giant shards of ice.
Not sure where you're seeing fire?
to much movies
It’s like an upgrading version of the drakes’ frost attack.
she does frost, pierce and slash dmg, no fire 🙂
Grounded breath attack is purely Frost.
Flying breath is mostly Frost with a tiny amount of Pierce.
yep, the flying barrage is 30 pierce, 200 frost, her claw attack is 110 slash and the grounded frost breath is 200 frost https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Moder
?
so wearing the root harnesack might be a good ideea
not really,
Not at all.
she does only 30 pierce and thats only on one attack
If you're getting hit by the giant icicles, that's the issue.
Small amount of armor or resist isn't going to save you.
didnt we need thunderstones and ymir flesh for frostner ?
Why don't lox like making kids I have to push them just for one
dodging might be the best idea 😎
thunderstones no
Thunderstone is for Trash Can.
Flesh is for Iron Sledge.
Flesh is also for Frostner.
::<
you can if you want, but you wont generally find one in the wild unless your lucky
they dont want anyone watching
Its been 200 days not one
Are you spending time near them?
Are they getting spooked by wandering mobs?
Yes and nothing they just sit still fir days won't even eat somtimes
How many in how large an area?
I have a really big area no emamys but they really love putting there heads in the wall even tho nothings there
made pretty much the perfect hole to a side of a mountain
is the flametal no longer sinking update live now ?
cant repair my huntsman bow 🤔
you'll need to repair it at a station that is the right level
I was thinking... shouldn't at least the longship be made of corewood instead or in addition?
Cause longships were usually made with pine, correct?
Why does my game crash when playing with friends but not in singleplayer?
I believe that is still in PTB (not live as of yet or it would have made it in a patch note).
huntsmen is more metal than wood, so check with the forge instead of the workbench.
anyone experiencing drops in frame rates in starting areas of the game?
I have not as far as the latest patch(0.218.19) had any major uptick in lag near the starting area. are you playing a solo world or on a server? also, are you using mods? both of those things can create issues and lag sometimes.
there could be a ton of reasons, but that sounds like it is server related, so ask around here for better troubleshooting:https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736
Is it possible to remove runestones? (with dev commands)
you might be able to if you can find the ID of your target and use the forcedelete command.
(it's a POI object so forcedelete doesn't work on it)
darn
Unlucky, so no way to remove it then?
not without mods, no ^^"
mods it is then
I know that if you dig a hole and then fill it up where the runestone is, it'll eventually pop up, but i'm curious what happens if you build something over it
it should only react to the terrain heightmap, so building over it should be safe
i'm not on a server, i'm on a solo map, no mods
if it is a instance issue, you should be able to see the increase using f2 and devcommands, otherwise I'm not sure what else would cause lag in the starter area.
Any idea what the wisp torch radius is? If you wanna plan out a mist free area
I'm a sucker for symmetry
I don't believer it is listed in the wiki but I would guess about 20m(?) per torch(same as a unupgraded work bench).
From experience, I would say say about 15m (radius, not diameter; I know you said radius, but just for clarity).
Having said that I recommend doing your own testing. Place a torch, place 2x2 floors to the edge of the light, do simple arithmetic.
Genuine question, are there any plans on making the game eat up less frames. I am well aware that the game is still in early access and that the building pieces take up alot. I just wonder cuz i still want to enjoy beatiful scenery with my friends at full release with atleast a stable 50-whatever fps
ping me if you answer :3
Nope, it's been explicitly stated that they love lag and NOT working on the game so it will remain laggy forever.
You imagine a game developer developing a game so it's more developed and have better performance (due to all development)?
Ridiculous
my onion addiction has turned into a bread addiction. i need to expand the barley farm
Looks to be 9-10m
I love lag too. If I can't see an enemy starting to swing at me and then have time to go and refresh my drink or visit the bathroom, what am I even playing for?!
Good to know. Nice work.
Maybe the 15m I had in mind was the distance between torches. I look forward to reading your paper.
i havent done science at it, but 10m radius sounds about right to me
Damn sorry for existing, most game devs dont care at all and ik irongate are goats but i still wanted to ask. But my fault for existing ig
wanna say to get decent coverage up to 4+m high pretty sure i end up with a torch every ~12m
You either need to make your sarcasm clearer, or seek professional help.
Tf have i done? Why are yall so passive aggressive for genuinly asking a question
I even stated that ik the game is in early access and its prob gonna get fixed but who knows
There's a linguistic/humour barrier here. You're good, my dude. The people responding were (subjectively, and somewhat successfully) attempting to be funny.
Though, "eating up less frames" is a really broad request. Specificity will get you more productive responses.
That Is pretty clearly a joke 😉
Yeh sorry english aint my first language, and i meant that the frames are pretty low when u got many structures (ofc no wonder) thats all
if it's building causing lag, try not manipulating the ground or doing it very little, seems to help a lot vs flattening a huge area before building
Only if you're a native English speaker.
no but ik that the more structures u got the more it affects fps, but i just wondered if it will be better in the future which it most likely will
I am not native speaker and still think Its pretty clear 🤔
Well thats you then, i mean we are all different
Do you think that one non-native English speaker is universally equivalent to every other non-native English speaker?
Oh yeah, i also don't get jokes at times (quite often i don't get ones Moose here makes xD)
Well thanks nonthenless for the answer, cyas later
No? And i didn't say they were, you are the one who said you HAVE to be a native speaker 🤷♂️
Show me where I said "have".
I am sorry, that ONLY native speakers will get it 😊
Hey look, there's the point! No damn, sorry. You missed it.
I envy you. Discovering everything as you go is the best part of the game.
sounds like you really like valheim
I believe that most people here will agree with this 😄
It does a great job of providing new and unexpected experiences to new players. I don't want to talk about Mistlands or Ashlands.
I have joined this server to look for other new players to share the valheim experience with
There's a channel for that. #1024264966712340510
yeah i guessed there would be one
Reading works too
i wonder, is there pvp here?
Just quick FYI, the game Is also great on singleplayer 😉
in the game i mean
There can be. It's in the game options.
Thats nice, i like that
You can enable it in game yes, tho game Is really not focused on it
is the pvp any good?
Yep any Atgeir can
no need to waste extra iron then, even though we have a reinforced chest full of :P
Didn't tried much of it myself (just one or two times maybe) and it really depends on your conection and even then its not really great, as i said Its not PVP oriented game
the person who enters a chunk first has a huge advantage
because chunks are computed on the "host" pc, which is usually the first person to enter a area. that means you'll have more of a delay than them
this is why i cant play hardcore, every time i come back from being afk i jump over my wall into a plains battlefield with 25 health
anyone know how long spawner farm items will stay on the ground?
with a workbench? forever ofc
well i mean the spawner wont spawn if theres a workbench
do you not have the kill chamber in range and the spawner outside?
these are surtlings
if you mean the drops, i think default is like 5 minutes irl time(?)...would need to do some digging to be sure.
huh idk, never farmed surtlings
they are just dying in water while i sit between 3 spawners
im curious how long i can afk before stuff disappears
do the cores get more uses in ashlands?
kinda, there is a weapon that requires them.
not sure on base building items (like furnace and kiln) for ashlands though.
guess ill be looking for a yag stone today...
according to steam, it take 2 full game days (1h irl time) for the game to remove drops by default.
Best way pre plains to farm a shitton of stone? I can't do the plains pillars as I am just breaking into swamps 😛
@odd helm got bored, updated. I took it offline while updating so the link may have changed to: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zuJ2BACwMq-cZXrc7fJOw8hDGp5ROKeBVcf73IzRrlw/edit?usp=sharing
Added: Everything from Ashlands other than Fader (he isn't up on the wiki yet) and also all MiniBosses are now present.
mountain rocks, ones that look kinda higher off the ground, and mining silver
Copper.
Ok interesting, thanks lads
berfore mountains stone is just letting trolls do their thing yeah
but dont plan on making a big structure
Also cleaned up a lot of the backend math that made it work, so future updates will not be a chore.
swamp feels extended because of all the iron you need but really you just get a root helm and an iron mace and you can get the wishbone, bonemass is prolly the easiest boss other than eik
actually wait no, you dont even need root helm, just poison mead
Readded to the resources pin, thank you~
you are in the right state of mind when you see half a reinforced chest full of wood and think "oh man, almost out of wood. better farm 2 carts full"
Finishing up the Serpent Scale tab because he's a special boy. Will be done in like 10 minutes, thank you for adding back ❤️
mountain is good for stone but do be aware of wolves if you're still in forest gear, and avoid farming there at night. they can hear you chopping a fair bit off and will come looking. next best thing at this stage is just the big rocks around forest.
Copper is the best method, because you get assloads of stone, and you also get a small amount of copper 🙂
yeah and you will never stop needing copper
trollstav damages charred fort walls but not metal nodes. i feel gypped.
aw, barley doest roll down roof tiles
Krom being made out of THAT MUCH bronze is criminal tbh.
time to eat a different stam food.
Bread is overrated tbh.
i support choosing food based on how much effort it takes to maintain
i never used swords with this character (iknowiknow), so...i haven't even actually looked at krom mats. my friend made one but i wasn't paying attention to what he used for it
what do chickens eat?
onion soup is 10 less stam and infinitely easier to make, but i kinda like the thought of having a massive farm that actually gets used
I support foods that have the same timer.
I am an axe man 🤷♂️
two harvests and i dont have to plant onions for like 5 days
chickens just grow near fire or u have to throw em food?
fair. personally i kinda like them getting all mixed up so they cover each others' weak last few minutes
They hatch without food.
They only make other chickens if you give them food though.
ive used mostly clubs and polearms. but with how much my skills have dropped since ashlands, im considering getting a sword and using axes more
what food?
Synced timers is de wae.
Seeds.
birch seeds work ?:D
they also eat dandelions iirc, much cheaper than birch seeds 😅
i have like 80 serpent stew and another stack of meat, sausages are still stupid easy to make to so im on those too, just need a stam food
Use farm able seeds like Carrot/Turnip/Onion.
i find getting blood annoying
i used onion soup until i got eggs
Turnip Stew > Onion Soup
oh i can drop sausages and do lox pie now i guess, atgeir does make those easy
cloudberries are good too
u use the iron atgeir?
wait, whyfor?
You should not be eating raw berries after you leave the Meadows...
blackmetal atgeir
can't tell me what to eat
i'll keep my berries!
only gets used to hunt lox
+5 min duration +healing per tick in trade for -5 Stamina.
Valheim CAKE when? I am tired of all this pie...
i put a pair of lox at the top of a plains rock. now the plains are desolate cratered wastelands with black metal littering the ground, and i eat a lot of lix pies.
any meads good to have on tap? im just using med health because legit everything takes me down to sub 10 health if i get hit, except for deathsquitos lol
Tasty Mead is uncontested the best mead in the game 🤷♂️
🤔 that's reasonable. hmm, what do suggest at mistlands/ashlands tier..?
doesnt tasty mead only last like 10 seconds
If only my food sheet was pinned in this channel and had a "Configurations" tab... 😉😉
tasty mead, and fire resist is about to be your best friend
So? You regain your entire stamina bar in about 6 of those.
ooh neat, tyty
OH yeah fire res mead, those shaman dudes crap on my root body
you're in plains right?
yeah
tbh ive only seen like 2 shamans, and i have like 400 bm ...still dont know where yag is
yeah make a stock of fire mead. don't leave home without it when you go into ml
also when you fight yag
im maining silver sword so we good
frostnir is for chumps that support bad progression
Uh.. silver should never be a main weapon given most everything is immune to Spirit damage.
(if you happen to have frostner on hand and your clubs level is considerably higher than swords, feel free to go for frostner)
well lets see, do i two shot fulings with a bm sword, or a silver sword
one i already have maxed
seems like a no brainer to me, i guess bm sword is pretty?
BM will do more damage as they are immune to half of what the Silver Sword does.
but costs a tiny bit more stamina and lacks style points
But Yag isn't, which is why it is BiS vs. him.
Don't EVEN get me started on "same weapon, higher tier" costing more stamina bullshit....
yeaaaa i'm not a big fan of it either
at least it seems to have stopped going up in ashlands last i checked
lol
If Deep North doesn't have cake I will riot.
man i bet they regret not code reviewing the intern's addition of the flametal node structrues
is this the highest value game as measured by revenue per employee in history?
10 million copies sold
Nah. Just 8 copies.
In total.
Dead game no one wants. Devs gave up.
Brought to you by Reddit Posts.
discord messages too!
been in EA for 4 years. Will never be released.
Redcord merger when?
yea we've reached the point where time will loop forever
just the same 21 minutes everytime
4 bat raids in a row...
Bat raids are the worst.
i go hide in my wall, im tired of being showered with leather scraps lol
i need a mod that has kitchen timer
i always get side tracked when pies are baking, or lox/serpent is taking forever. i need a loud ass alarm
got the same problem, i'd eat so much cooked lox meat if i didn't struggle with that 😅
i make enough ovens or cooking racks that it doesn't feel like a waste of time to just sit there looking
if ive got 24 pies coming it's nbd
i sh ould prolly make a bigger kitchen yeah
If it wasn't for the fact that bats kill tamed animals, I would completely ignore them too.
man The water glitch in my world fixed itself somehow, and then slowly but surely it's creeping up to start glitching again, weird.
@gray sand : In your foods Google Sheet, what does "balanced" (for example "Balanced Health) on the Configurations page mean?
I got 99 problems but a glitch ain't one.
water glitch?
HHS
Balanced Stamina being HSS.
uhh i can't explain it but i have a photo if you'd like to see it, just dm me.
I see... So what is "Balanced EITR"? And like Max Stamina is SSS?
Balanced EITR is HSE. One of each.
Max of anything is all 3 being that type.
Thanks. 🙂
Has anyone ever made a iceburg for this game????
how many people should i play with for my first time in this game?
what are the team limits?
I solo'd the first time. Definitely worth it for the vibes and to learn without people rushing you.
It always blows me away how many people ask in /r/valheim if they CAN play solo haha. That's my favourite playstyle 😂
it's rare to see these answers to such a question so i'm happy to see em
yeah anytime i play with someone they wanna go rush bosses
meanwhile i just spent 3 days getting enough stone to make a dock and some farms
Yeah I can't keep up with my friends, they're much more intense gamers in general. Survival crafters to me are about slow enjoyment, building, and chilling out
When I played Raft, I just wanted to float and collect stuff. Didn't even care about the islands haha. I just did them as I hit the need for progression.
I play Valheim the same way. I advance when my base demands it 😛
Amen, its so good to see you enjoying it this way 😄
i went all out for me on my current base, but at the back of my mind is always "yo you could have just slapped that crap in the front yard and itd be more efficient"
stone costs are kinda testing my patience atm
Haha my goal today was to build a wood and stone farm (AFK spawner in dark forest) but alas, I'm here asking questions about dedicated server backups because the update killed my seed 😂
after iron stage I also tend to get super stumped on progression
though I do want those new ashland buildblocks... they look great
are you equipped for plains yet
yeah im basically just waiting to find yag...
yeah ill farm the big stone things
oh and fuling towers have solid amounts of stone too, worth to just lower the floor a little with a hoe so they collapse
lowkey need to make a good tree farm xD
i cleared like 4 plains biomes of them yesterday, built a small sectionof my base, and now need more stone
I wouldnt go too overboard in normal play, imo
and somehow still h avent found a yag stone
4 biomes worth of monoliths must be several carts of stone...
I once built a thick wall around the entire base in a previous run, double layered with crenelations and towers. still took only ~4 carts for that
stone is crazy expensive
i have a two thick wall that is like 45 long i think and 6 high, that took over 2reinforced chests
I get to plains no problem, but I stalled out last year when Mistlands dropped. I saw the new content, thought it was pretty neat, but my friends are power gamers and kind of dusted me.
Haven't even read the Ashlands updates yet, trying to avoid spoilers 🙂
you know finding an elder, bonemass, and moder runestone is super easy. why cant yag be half as easy lol
we found 2 yag spawners without rune stone
I've accidentally found Yag by accident every time I ran a new seed. Drove my friends CRAZY
its a big hand right
I've been super lucky haha. Never had the problem of searching for it. First time, I didn't even know what it was, just marked it and build a base nearby. 🤷♂️
we also were super lucky with both traders
Oooh yeah, this seed I'm trying to restore, I created to introduce a friend to Valheim (at his pace) and he has NO IDEA. We just found the vendor close to the starting point
the male trader (forgot name) was on our start island, hildir was on the very first adventure out and is super close to our base location
(haldor)
we just call him the trader
I haven't met the second one yet, that's Ashlands content, right?
Sealed towers are nice for metals though
havent found one yet, and we went through half a dozen plains
like, we have a reinforced chest full of tar and half one full of black metal
They will be marked on your map if you activate the map on Hildirs table
She is litterly standing in front of 1 table with a map on it
yeah its not telegraphed very well, but hildirs map will put every hildir poi on the map
I mean I didnt even know she did anything besides selling stuff until we accidentally found a howling cave
same
how can a cave howl it doesn't even have vocal cords silly
my house is in the plains next to the mists and every time the mist doesnt load im like yo that looks so cool
and then its gone...
Once you get to ashlands, collecting any kind of stone becomes so much easier with the battering ram
whats the best way to get feathers?
chickens, or harpoon
Early game, birds on the ground or chopping trees. Mid game, chickens, late game the huge amount of voltures you're always killing 🤣
ok ill do that then
harpoon is basically bow + wood arrows, except free ammo and one less inventory slot used
daddy odin why must the winds always be against me
can i destroy dvergr outposts with a stone cutter or do they get mad
they have wards
oh
if you attack the ward they get mad
gotta figure out how to get black marble then
yeah thought so
hm, I believe black marble is collected from giant skulls
I quit shortly after mistlands came out and didnt do much there tho
and with my current mate we are taking things slow, only on plains rn
we are still in the swamp
I’m in the early stages of the game and I’m finding getting deer hide incredibly annoying is there any way that there’s a more effective way then well… hunting deer
nope, hunt deer with a bow!
So annoying with how the bows work in this game
crude bow you can skip -- flint spear is better
Even with the finewood bow
they respawn in the same areas generally, so if you've found one -- they'll show up there again and again
I would say use crude bow anyways if you plan on using bows a lot, though
