And then Root Harnesk just makes arrows kind of tickle a bit

It's slightly ridiculous that the best way to handle a siege is to just run around in a big circle while enemies chase you, ideally around a large object if ranged enemies are present

It is a treehouse, but it needed a few ground supports and I used the space below the house for some stuff. I suppose now that I have iron though I could just wood iron poles for support directly off the tree though.

you shouldn't even need much iron; trees count as ground support

but yeah, I wouldn't say impervious bases are the best either -- they can get kinda boring when none of the enemies pose any threat whatsoever

Pro tip, you can hide from trolls in the entrances to the burial chambers, the trolls can’t destroy them and get to you

I often don't wear armour on normal until I get the troll already in the forest, so I go in almost naked. You can go for the leather armour if you want and found lots of deer, for weapons a flint axe is quite alright and a wooden club for skeletons and a crude bow for trolls, can also make a fine wood bow relatively soon after entering the forest

before Frost Caves you just need to run across several mountains real fast and check all the stone structures until you find one with a vegvisir, you can probably check and find more than 20 of them before you even find one of the structures that canhave the yag vegvisir, and they can sometimes even hide between trees, not easy to notice

Ancients Seeds I think its 3 you need

to get the most powerful weapon for Black Forest level, you have to a) kill Eikthyr and get the antler pickaxe b) ideally make 12 bronze and 6 copper for forge (30 copper total and 12 tin) and then use that for making a bronze axe and 80 bronze nails for the new boat, the Karve (you can use raft but unlikely to do next step with this) c) Sail a lot depending on luck and find a floating island its called Leviathan and mine minimum 20 chitin from it d) make a knife that is absolutely terrifyingly strong on black forest as its on par with weapons from the 3rd biome

No silver with 2.5, only buckler type shield has 2.5 (I think the only ones with 2.5 are Bronze Buckler=Black Forest, Iron Buckler=Swamp and Carapace Buckler in the 6th biome = Mistlands so only 3 of that type. mage or fighter? for melee Carapace armour is good, for weapons the mistwalker is top tier, also the silver sword works really well for charred and fallen valk especially (charred and valkyrie are weak to spirit), overall frost arrows are really good too, most things are not resistant to frost

The location will make it harder or easier thats for sure, too much lava or hot water will not be helpful with spikes, but its all part of the challenge, I already found 2 spawns for him so can pick a good one haha.

My only issue with fader was fps, there was a fortress near his arena and whenever he used ground spikes, if they clipped the fortress, then fps would drop to single digits

Otherwise, his attacks in melee are slow easy to dodge, lets you ample room to just free dps him

Frost caves (from the front) kinda look like a wolf with its mouth open (icicles are teeth). From the back, look for a long-ish circle that has a "wolf nose" extension.

AFAIK, ashwood doesn't have seeds to replant and repopulate. So in that way, they are limited. But if memory serves, I believe one of the devs or mods mentioned each world seed has some ridiculous amount like 200k trees (minimum).

Yeh dude, I'm Australian. Most of our trees propagate through fire; it's mostly due to a class of chemical in the smoke (karrikins). But yeh, seed pods are opened under intense heat, and germinated with the chemical catalyst.

i dont think the boss de-spawns once it is spawned. were you geared up with Black Forest materials? either bronze armor or leveled up troll armor. lots of arrows. and foods made from the cauldron like deer stew or mince meat or carrot soup? with each biome you want to make everything you unlock and be sourcing your gear and foods from that biome. with upgraded cauldron etc.

yeah problem is we weren't exactly prepared but even then we were all in with our capabilities, none of those superfoods or full bronze armor. probably an atgeir and spear and some prayer. we ended up dying like probably some 10 times until our portal got destroyed and it ended up being impossible with there like 10 greydwarves, 3 brutes and 3 one star brutes, like 3 archer skeletons and a few other sword skeleton. it really was impossible to get in there naked but we invested all our stuff so we really had nothing in stockpile. so we really just needed to forfeit just for the sake of us getting our stuff back.

yeah. sometimes deathloops happen. it sounds like there may have been mob spawners nearby. it is usually good to like scout around and kill all spawners etc before starting a boss fight. if you need help killing the elder and clearing the space so you can retrieve your tombstones and start again, let me know. it sucks when you get stuck in this game. but it happens sometimes

From what little I have seen of his combat, it feels almost perfectly timed so when 2 of 3 skills are on cool down, 1 is still open...kinda situation.

While that's true you can use that opening to get into melee range, most commonly he'll have say summons/spike/meteors on cd and then you can use his breath/ring of fire to get into melee range and trigger his melee cycle

If you're always at range, he'll only do range attacks type thing too, so while it may be the natural thing to do to put distance from Fader because of the craziness, the best thing you can do is be in midrange/melee.

dunno about relatively compact, but you can grow them along the walls of your plains farm -- you can dual use that space which would otherwise be wasted, I'll get a pic in a second

Try making a river to protect your base, and then a small bridge with a door in it. Like they had castles protected by that thing, whats it called in English... vallihauta.

it's called a moat -- and it doesn't need water in valheim, it can just be a simple dry ditch, as long as the sides are steep enough
