i think i changed it so
the combination of no map, no portals, hardcore, vhard, and 0.5 resources really changed up how the game plays for me, it was very interesting to try. Had to think a lot more about things before going and doing them
But it got so tedious in the end ๐
Despite playing a lot of vhard though I don't find it a lot of fun. Hard is way better
Hard mode without using a bow or atgeir is very fun for me
I would be completely mullered without a bow ๐
I never bothered to grind bow high enough to use it as the main weapon. It's just too annoying to deal with until much later into the game
and melee is more fun anyway... except magic. it feels nice to use
no bow on mountains is pretty fun too
I'm not disagreesing at this point, I'm just very poor at melee and find it easier to pepper things to death from range, and in some cases from structures.
if only finally got a staff good for staggering enemies and exploiting that stagger... but nope. The lighting pew pew stick staggers alright, but with that slow ass fire rate can't do a follow up
oh for sure it's easier, bows are broken af
And trying to melee fliers is mostly futile.
nah, drakes need to be punched ๐
[
Eh, squitoes and bats are pretty easy to melee. Drakes and Gjall are a bit harder but not bad
Could also throw spears at them
True, remember the bit where I said I was very poor at melee ๐
Skill issue on my part I know, but I'm not getting any younger.
Can mosquitoes and bats fly through iron cage?
no
Or drakes shoot through it?
they shouldnt
Thank you
By upgrading the crossbow , does it reduce the reload times?
n o
that's by increasing skill level with it
That's what it says in the wiki...
But not what it says in the game...
In the game it says the skill improves damage and accuracy only, doesn't mention reload speed or knockback.
Knockback doesn't matter that much, but it should mention the reload speed
Who do I blame for misinformation in the in-game tooltips?
I just realized that with the discord hack a while ago, I lost a ton of screenshots of my old builds

and the worlds they were on are gone too due to a lost harddrive, ive spent dozens of hours on some of those
thats life
sad
happened to me too, cant trust backups these days
excuse me guys, where can i give feedback on the new game update and where can i give suggestions about the last biome the Deep North?
someone can help me plz?
thank you that was pretty quick ๐
You can access those channels - and having always shown them - if you set your roles right in id:customize
Are skills really that important? I tried magic in the ashlands and it's just sorta dissapointing, doesn't kill stuff fast enough.
what is your skill level?
elemental magic like 20
try to improve your staff, and don't use the ice one too much
The damage outside of the parenthesis (should be) damage at skill lvl100. You are missing 60+ levels of damage increase and (from what I have seen in chats, here) most people won't consider their weapon of choice effective till skill reaches about 60-70.
In ashlands *
hiding the maypole is rough
I mean it's a pretty decoration, do you really have to hide it?
its incredibly ugly
whaaaaaaat
Low-poly maypole is indeed not very pretty. To me it's a "meh" item. Not pretty or ugly. Haven't run into it in any vanilla playthoughs. But I have spawned it before for comfort level testing.
Very High skill vs very low skill is a very high difference. Your weapons become on average Iโd say 3x as good at lvl 100 compared to lvl 0. But leveling skills is super fast when you have low skill and super slow when you have high skill, so I wouldnโt say itโs worth grinding for super high skills. Difference between like 40 skill and 60 skill isnโt that big
so at what skill would be enough?
But for hiding it(maypole), either in a stone wall, double thick thin wall type (like wood or ashlands stone) or making a visual "support column" in something like a great hall would work decent enough.
Iโd say 40-50 in a skill is good. Can totally use a weapon at 0 skill though just not quite as good
For magic, magic is super powerful because you can stay safe at range and gun enemies down without going into danger. As a trade off though, it is gonna have a bit less damage than a melee weapon, if the melee weapon and magic is at the same skill level
Another trade off with magic is you're squishy
Nah.
They're just nice-to-haves.
I'd argue the opposite. Staff of protection OP af
But if you are really worried about squishyness you could eat some hp food
They're just very extremely overrated.
People seem like a mystic force prevents them from playing if their skills aren't at level 45.76689837364 with exactly 58.95960597% of progress to the next level
surprisingly my first run getting a weapon skill to 100, was a hardcore run
It is, but it's not hard to get mobbed in ashlands and once it's down you're done for. I've been impressed with magic and also unimpressed. Impressed because it's very effective until you suddenly die
I run a hybrid build
no reason not to play hybrid
Knife player when Mistland : ๐
Knife player when Ashland : ๐
can't load my worlds is there any bugs or something?
I havenโt been able to load any singleplayer worlds since the Ashlands update myself
thanks it worked ๐
the new update is so cool
so is it a bug that flamemetal is better than wood iron?
quick question, the colored sign does not glow anymore right?
they should have the same ammount of support
Likely, yes. The structure is supposed to be the same. The only difference is they can survive in lava.
okay then yeh reddit is right that its a bug
I built a tower from it and from wood iron side by side 2 meters apart
flamemetal was able to go 4meters higher
From what I have seen, this is correct. Colored signs no longer glow.
Thanks!
Matter of waiting until stability updates properly and the extra meters will collapse.
Offset ground might cause that too
How do you do that
their on equal ground and i waited for 30minutes and still stable
Did you try logging out and in again?
nope did not
Try and see.
Someone else had the same case with another type of support and logging out and in updated it
The extra meters collapsed
just logged in
its still standing
hello gangity gang gang
coffee is king
Coffee in valheim??
you have to mix puffins with pussy farts

Wtf
I'd say lightning or blood tbh, the attack speed aint worth going for rooting
hello
ok. i figured the immobilization benefits ranged attacks
I'd say more melee honestly
enemies cant turn around to attack you as you slap their asses from behind with a sword or axe
is there a fast way to level up block skill?
yes..get the best shield you can and then parry the baddest monster you can find
rinse repeat
its not a fast way
werksforme
parrying gives same ammount xp as blocking, i need a really fast way
cheat then
cheating is for noobs
im just looking for a good farm or something because i know that some people are crazy in this ( im not )
Is there any self promotion channel for streams? huehue
This is where these stats get interesting, and it involves some simple math. The Parry Bonus modifies your Block Power, and is what helps determine if a parry will stagger the enemy, allowing you to capitalize on the bonus damage. If a parry is successful, the damage you block is calculated by multiplying the Block Power of your weapon or shield by its Parry Bonus. If the final value is larger than the damage roll of the attack you are parrying, the parry will stagger the enemy. A Staggered enemy will take double damage from attacks. If the final parry value is less than the damage being dealt, your parry will be broken, the enemy will not stagger, and the remaining damage will be dealt, modified by your armor and resistances.
i know how parry works
to parry attacks DOES upgrade your block skills.. I use the mistlands seeker
yes they do but normal block gives the same ammount of the level bar ( xp )
camp a spawner in burial chambers with tower shield, should work fine
well i tried it and skeletons stopped spawning at some point but i may try the swamp spawner method
you sad parrying gives same ammount xp as blocking, i need a really fast way.. so maybe you are ignorant?
wdym im ignorant
parrying will upgrade your blocking skills faster..period
basically camp any spawner, preferably somewhere where monsters can come to you from only one direction
give me a minute i wil show you something i just need to go to my test world
good gawd man.. you want to upgrade your blocking skills and THIS is how you do it.. what part of this escapes you?
False, parrying gives double the xp
really? when did they change it
Just go to a crypt and get swarmed by skellies
offs
Just get a lot of weak enemies around you and hold block, parrying ain't the way to level up fast
Is there a backpack to increase inv?
well i knew that already but thanks
Then what is it you're looking for sir?
no, but there is a belt called megingjord that increases your max inventory weight by 150, you can get it from the trader
Is there a backpack to increase inv? he said nothing about weight
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Skills blocking row, right side ๐
I got a belt, thx! Was just wondering if there was something to increase slots too
no, nor there ever will be most likely ๐
do you want a beef or something man? whats your problem
atleast i know how to parry a boar not like you
Make the square
and btw you cant send youtube links here, its advertising your channel which is against the rules๐ค
It's not specifically advertising if it solves a question that was just asked
mini modding is also against the rules, either way this escalation is silly
it was not really advertising... its was topic of convo so they sent something that was relevant to it...
Come on lads, settle this in combat
alright man it was enough
Does anyone know how to open chat on xbox?
gang its my sixt day naked on a boat
hell of a party
Wait till you reach the 7th day, gets crazy
like you fell asleep irl while sailing?
Brother
ye
I love that
You're gonna die ๐
with honor and glory
It's the way
May odin guide you son
anyone wanting to start fresh gameplay
check the #1024264966712340510 channel or make a post
hes owned
youll find some wild ones in a couple biomes
the plains have lox, dig a trench line the top sides with stone leaving an end open lure lox into the trench and run between his legs out the trench and seal behind you
feed cloud berries
I'd love to see them add more extreme weather
Like a hurricane that if youre in the ocean youll have waves towering you type of thing
you said I was FOs abut parrying and then YOU still say I am FOS so fvku
what is goin on
It's still an answer to the question and a potential solution due to the lack of actual backpacks, which is stated in the message.
Apparently, people very stupidly escalating a fight out of nowhere from simple stuff...
Btw scales you are a very unpleasant person because I dislike your tone in that completely normal message
Yo letโs fight meet me in the spawn circle

You gotta specify the seed or you won't see them
Sure, let me get Elder's power first to be ready (it's super useful in combat)
Valheim without the elders power would just be a dying simulator
Lads don't question mark me as if you are not using it to cheese every boss
I don't think you know what the Elders power does
All that wood chopping has saved my life numerous times.
But no, I don't like to cheese in Valheim
You used to be able to go through a portal right after renaming it. Did that get patched out? I can't seem to get it to work anymore
It did get patched out
Yes sir
Ah damn ๐ฆ alright thanks guys
You have to teleport like a man now
for some reason everytime you said elder's power I was thinking of eithkyr ๐
Elder power built me a house once in a time when I was homeless.
Odin bless his kind soul
So no goats milk in a new update then? ๐คฃ
we should be able to milk askvins ๐
Elder power is what makes everyone who they are
Milk is fine just donโt ferment it to cheese
if only fader's power wasnt so comically useless
You mean the most powerful power in the game? Yeah, right.
It's not useless.
But it can certainly be upgraded more.
They could just add an extra 0 to the carry weight and done
Faders power is decent, movement speed is very good
Still outclassed by bonemass eik and maybe queen tho
Iโm feeling like Ashlands is designed to conquer valheimian weight and transportation difficulties more than anything else
3000 extra carry weight and +10% move speed would be extremely good
fader's power should have a longer duration or be passive honestly
3000 extra? That'll get you like 3 iron scrap
Trouble getting stuff or big animals around?
BIG boat
Wanna transport metals?
BIG portal
Run out of carry capacity?
Lemme double or nothin for 5 minutes ๐
its honestly criminal that in the endgame you often have less than 10 spare inventory slots over in a game with this many items and stack sizes this small
never seen a survival sandbox game with a smaller inventory than valheim
The problem is how much you need to have on you
its almost like game devs have equipment slots in their games for a reason
Akshually: *4
Criminal? What's criminal is that people have reached the penultimate biome without learning inventory management.
mother of cope
They've got a point about equipment slots though. That would be nice imo. Armor and food alone take a quarter of your inventory. Then your tools and weapons take another quarter
How? How are you using so many slots?
I play on hardmode and you need to be prepped for many scenarios
Hammer, sword, shield, frostner, bow, hoe on hotbar
So... Hard mode is hard? Gotcha.
foxes added to the black forest when?
Never.
hard difficulty should have nothing to do with a terrible inventory system though
but me want fox : (
When we get tameable necks
now THIS is a great point
Come on derek, we all know inventory fills up faster than a childs dms on a dangerous website
(I meant never)
It's. Not. Terrible.
yeah i gotta agree how can you call it ivn system bad?
That's a weird thing to say. Also, it's Derek.
I mean samaramon basically has tame necks. Have you seen her neck pond?
No, it's derek
OK, block it is.
Crazy
mfw i press v (It turns off auto pick up
Regardless, especially in ashlands you need a lot of the drops
With food, armor and weapons it'll fill up
I saw a video recently about a Derek who was in an editing war on Wikipedia like 13 years ago. My first thought was that could definitely be you
That example was something else...
My name isn't Derek on Wikipedia but otherwise, sure.
You can eat food out of a chest, which isnโt a problem because you should be returning to your base every night anyway
Its derek on Wikipedia
Damn I thought I met a celebrity
Derek lore
I mean, you still have. ๐
chat
this guy
Every night? I have bills to pay man
That event was known as either the War of Edition or the Derek Wars
@l
That's gotta be the most inspirational thing you have said all day
go to steam library, RM on game, properties, third tab, fourth option
I can't take this anymore
I can't keep waiting around for an opportunity to thin out the dorfs in this base
Imma mug these dorfs so I can finally get the armor and weaponry I desperately need
Oh god, the crate's guarded by two dorfs, a fire mage and a one-star frost dorf
employ some bugs to help you ๐
snipe them from a distance
๐ค
A flying artillery jellyfish! Perfect!
The distraction worked
Destroyed the component crate and bolted right out of there.
Now I just need to find a few goblins to kill in the nearby tiny plains patch and extract some sap
Thank you!
im convinced youre supposed to be hunting hares with magic.. its SO easy
Iโve punched a few to death
do you still have to use a mod to not show helmit?
yeah those jerks can only be reliably hit with magic or crossbows :/
its actually a lot of fun to run around and kill them with magic
yep, the meat is great too
just throw fireballs.. ez hare meat
Are you using poison resistance mead?
farming seeker soilder trophy right now with no luck so getting tons of meat
no
Make a fermenter if you havenโt already
in general, focus potions HARD, they are very important. Especially poison and the other resistance potions you unlock later, one of them is even pretty much required
sorry i have problem with start server.. always crash when i try to start my own world. When i play with friend on his world everything is fine. How to fix
Make a few fermenters if you can
Make some booze
mark every darn large berry and mushroom cluster you find on the map too, you will not regret it
I just go randomly on a search ๐ฆ
I find it fun using no resistance meads, honestly feels like the way the game was meant to be played to me (maybe other than Mountain, where it can be a bit tough)
You really think Yagluth is meant to deal that much damage?
Its meant to hurt. Game is no cake
As long as you don't linger it's not bad at all
I cleared a very near goblin camp & fortified it just to watch it get rekt by his firestorms
its not even hard imo
yoo any one want to play
Apparently I have terrible luck, because not only do I keep getting Valkyries spawn in to surprise me, but the wiki says their trophy has a 50% drop chance and I have killed at least 12 of them without a single trophy drop. Grrrr.
Hello! can anyone help me out? I have all the materials needed for Vice-blackForge upgrade, but somehow it doesn't show in crafting panel. Please HELP :<
hmm you need iron copper and mechanical spring for that, did you pick all these thing up at least once?
I have all three of those. Idk what's going on, do I need to defeat the Queen first?
no, you should be able to make it ๐ค
mann, idk what to do now, I've already restarted the game
should be after black forge in the hammer menu
the game's somehow fixed after 4th restart. lmao. tysm!
well i didnt do anything but you are welcome ๐
Ashlands boney boys are resistant to pierce damage?
yep
oh for God sake..
Normal skeletons are too
I've killed like 10 of them too, no trophy, must be a 5% chance and a wiki typo
Well and there i was hoping to do entire game only spear
spear is worst weapon type imo
spear is bussing untill you have to kill anything resistant to pierce
i once did run where i used spear only up untill Plains (because there is no upgrade from fang spear and in mistlands i became mage)
fighting bonemass was the most miserable thing, i had to recall 7 times to base because my spear broke
i lvl up spears from 20 ish to 47
yeesh
guys
does the enemies get prgresevly more stong?
like they get stronger how much time passes
No.
No, but killing bosses allows stronger enemies to spawn at night in certain biomes
I mean, use fenris if his fire scares you
Finally found a howling cavern
Don't forget to clap at the Wolfman. ๐
Was I supposed to do that before or after I killed him?
Are howling caverns any good for collecting fenris hair?
Depends at what you used to kill him.
Same as a regular one I think
I used the brutal slayer. Itโs never too late to do hildirโs quest
ty blobic
So they arenโt any good for collecting fenris hair
Gonna be heading off to raid a Sealed Tower
I hope my Carapace and Fang spears will be able to survive through whatever gauntlet awaits me there
I think they're actually worse as I found the Howling caverns being smaller as the Frost Caves.
Did you destroy all those banners as well? They usually generate a nice amount of Fenris hair on top of what you can get from those braids at the bottom of those banners or the occasional pedestal.
I know what Iโm looking for but can never find much fenris hair in frost caves. I think itโs just terrible luck
...something tells me I should prooobably come back to this sealed tower with a featherfall cape
Once youโre inside youโll be fine
Oozebombs and Bilebombs may be useful too.
...wait, there's no entrance?
So am I supposed to Kool-Aid Man my way in?
You're s'posed to use the knowledge of the game to get in. You know, setting up 2 workbenches, build ladders or stairs.....
Things like that.
...ohhh, that explains the seemingly platform game-like layout of stairs I saw up above
Hmm, perhaps I could have five-headed my way in by bringing a stonecutter and just carving open an entrance
Okay, nevermind, stone's indestructible
No problem, I'll just dig my way in
huh.. how do i deal with fire hazard before getting iron xD
Wait, nevermind, it extends all the way down
Alright, time to chop some wood and climb up this tower
I dont undderstand. why does the spawn greydwarf spawner command not work?
Surtlings are very weak. They wont do much damage and will die in a few hits
noo, i mean making house with campfire will eventually burn down house, idk how to play around it before getting iron
technically Hildir would be savior here as well..
I havenโt played with fire on but could you build the campfire in the centre of the room or even outside?
I donโt know how close to a build it needs to be
ok nvm i have a idea
#building-screenshots message
anyone know why this is failing to support the stone?
did they adjust the strength of the wooden iron supports or something?
...phew, I made it to the top. The fight at the top was intense
...and I have to make it all the way back down
And I only brought two stacks of food, because I thought the trip wouldn't outlast the serpent stew I ate
Okay, next time I try to raid one of these dungeons, I'm bringing poison bombs
i never played this game before, im looking for people to play with.
thanks
I should probably kill every fuling on my way down, if only because I worry that defeating the berserker at the bottom or retrieving Hildr's sealed tower loot will destroy the iron gates containing the other fulings
Oh god, that black fuling looks fucking terrifying ๐ฑ
I bet I can't parry his attacks with only two foods (and only one of them being a health food)
why only 2 foods, you ran outa the third food?
I thought this trip would not outlast the very rare and very elusive serpent stew I consumed at base
fair point
Giving 40% heat resistance on Flametal armor is a little troll. That lava kills you pretty much just as fast
It gives you enough time to jump which could save your life or make retrieving your items much easier
Death in 1 second to death in 1.5~ seconds xD
FYI you can drop a portal on the little balcony outside the tower even before you clear it.
go home and get more food.
i just got one shot by a two star lord reto.
Heโs always got two stars
one shot is insane though
i had 251 health and full flametal armor with upgrades
Do you have a flametal mace or frostner? Keep using the secondary attack and he wonโt be able to touch you
okay
Otherwise you could use well-timed jump attacks and rolls
is there a lfl/ltp chat
Oh yeah, I left to get some food. I didn't bother plopping a portal near the tower because my Hildr portal is close enough to that sealed tower
there's an LFG chat in #1024264966712340510
thanks
Just got carrots and turnips!
do i need iron pickaxe to mine silver or can i use bronze
you need iron
ty
can we talk about how bad this seeker soilder trophy grind is.. ive killed idk at least 50-75 soilders and only gotten 1 trophy from a 2 star..
will tar get "destroyed" once i drain the primary pit or will it always flow to some lower level?
On average you should only get 1 per 20 soldiers so it's just bad RNG at this point.
Once you've drained a pit it won't produce any more tar. But the growths will continue to spawn.
so everything that is stuck in tar, even those below the level of the main pit, will be freed?
This belongs in bugs discussion, movin it there
yeah idk, ive dug this line all the way down to the ocean and its still not letting me get the last few items out
so.. is it normal for Ashlands to have an obscene amount of ZDO's? I'm getting serious lag on my landing zone
why does mistlands drop a black forest mineral
like 40k+ active ZDOs
pretty convenient if you need copper and your main base is in the mistlands ig
? Copper?
yeah
man tar is just annoying af
is this stuff actually persistent on a given Z level? ive dug all the way down to the ocean on one side and its still hanging around
Copper to make forges to make blast furnace to smelt stuff remotely
Dug down? You shouldn't need to do that. Just a channel a few metres from the pit.
yeah but there is stuff around the pit at lower height than the pit itself that is also stuck, and emptying the pit doesnt release those items
Why not raise the stuff out of the ground instead of draining the tar?
so are charred fortresses not actuall guaranteed to contain a gem?
No, though you'd be unlucky to get any at all.
fortress 1: 1 gem
fortress 2: 1 gem
fortress 3: 0 gems
It's been a slog, lol
large quantities of flametal, but the absence of gems is really hampering the crafting
folks I built a chicken coop and they are laying eggs in the corners and all huddling mostly in the corners.
It makes collecting eggs kinda difficult. Any any how I can fix this?
My entire friend group and I ragequit, we are not having fun with ashlands, it's too hard for us lol
Lower the difficulty
meh maybe, but all of our stuff is somewhere on the shores of the ashlands, we've built (and broken 5) of those big boats, we're going to have to work up the motivation and materials to build a 6th
last boat got chewed to pieces by 2 ashlands serpents and 3 voltures going at it all at once, just absolute madness, this is why we ragequit
I killed 2 serpents attacking my boat solo on my first landing, vultures also present, need to just kill them from boat quickly, you can always lower the difficulty settings
well I'm glad you're better at the game than us. Why don't you play it in our stead?
Honestly the spikey rocks are a bit obnoxious. The boat you are required to use is reasonably fast, but it is bulky and gets caught on those spikes CONSTANTLY. On top of that, it doesn't have that much health. On top of that the players can damage the boat... so while trying to kill vultures you'll kill your damn boat.
The fix is literally to spam workbenches on the spikes and repair the boat whenever possible.
But the fact of the matter is, it's really annoying to get around island to island in Ashlands.
The density seems fine for a small group. 3+ people.... But if I was doing Ashlands completely solo --- pretty sure this would have been a horrible experience.
Even thought I'm also confident it'd be doable solo, it's just very obnoxious
I only had to plop down a workbench twice on spikes for my first landing, can be a bit rng where you end up etc on mob density. I was also lucky I found some stone ruins on a spike reasonably close to the mainland
it definitely depends on your mob RNG while sailing. My group's first time venturing into Ashlands we had 3 bonemaws and probably over a dozen Vultures before we landed on an island
and we found one reasonably quick
not saying anyone is better etc, one thing that helped me was accepting my fate and not panicking, just carefully killing things and not hitting the boat
3 would have probably "cooked" me solo, boat was at 15% after a fight with 2 and also some added vultures beforhand
we landed on the ashlands shore and were swarmed with 12-18 of those big skeleton things. I don't know what we could have done better or worse. One of the reasons we're so frustrated is because there's no longer a feedback loop of understanding "I could have done x better, I'll take the lesson learned to heart and be better next time." It just feels like "you lose, too bad!" and that's no longer fun.
I recommend putting first portal on a spike a little way away from the actual main landmass, that way only have bonemaw and vultures to deal with to start
Translation: "If I could do it solo, then it means it's possible to do in MP. And you might even argue that it's actually easier because there's multiple people playing. I'm not saying professional and that I'm better than you"
then you can also make a little bridge to next spikes etc and slowly assault the beach
You're right, I don't know what I'm thinking, I'll just get good
I also recommend putting down ---3--- portals, no less than that, at one stage 2 of them got destroyed and I only had one left to come back to the actual landmass (before you have a proper safe beachhead)
I highly recommend calming down before interacting with other people...
Especially those trying to actually help you
somehow my 1 and only portal was safe on my ashlands breach
is there some type of aura around ruins that prevents wood from burning?
because mistlands recipes requires that mineral
I think that one was 50/50.
wtf is with the black blobs that just wrecked me
Ah, you've found some Growths, have fun.
ridiculous
if you reallly dont want to deal with them some silver arrows make it easy
Xd
You guys experienced what is talking with a tilted Ashlands hater
Well, he's one of them.
tfw a skeleton suprise meets frostner
melee I use iron mace level 4 and drink a poison resist before fighting them, fire arrows work well too
they are weak to blunt and fire
tfw Geirhaffa raid meets seekers
I let other enemies kill the growths or throw my spear if needed ๐คญ
had a Brenna raid during an assault on a fort on my playthrough
unsurprisingly the skellies were friends with the other skellies
Growths arent that hard, the attacks are easily predictable
They are weak to Spirit, but they are more like an organic mass than everything
they are not weak to spirit
Fire and frost are good elements to deal with them.
I've taken them out with fire and frost arrows and the ranged distance gave me enough time to avoid that spitting attack they did.
No?
Ah they only got weak to blunt, ye
almost done with the stone pillar tower
the easiest to fighting them in melee is iron mace, chugg a poison resist mead and pop bonemass (they do blunt and poison damage)
iron mace does more damage than frostner to them
At normal game the only thing i think its worth it is the resist mead
how does one use a whitelist for valheim with console users?
whats the ID do i have to use for console users?
unless you want to feel like a god when fighting them ^^, you can fight them however you want
I am wet.
I mainly just came here to vent, I was pretty frustrated. I've come to accept that this game simply isn't for me or my friends.
I dunno, give it another go when you've had a little break.
we put the game on easy/peaceful mode and gathered our stuff. This is 100% not how the devs intended for the game to be played though, since this isn't the default setting.
I judge the game based on how the devs intend it to be played
and their default settings... just not for me
There must be a name for those moments when you die 100 times to a certain situation and after giving it yet another go you actually manage to overcome it almost flawlessly and then think "wait, was that it?"
I think victory was doable if I threw myself at it enough times, but my time is worth a lot more than the devs think it is, and I think that's the main reason I don't recommend it to my friends. There's so much stuff like not taking metal through portals, grindiness, having to wander around for hours to find certain things on the map, the astronomical odds of finding the merchant, etc. I really feel like this game doesn't respect my time.
You know you can just change world modifiers to allow metal through.
yeah, and we did, but like I mentioned, I judge the game based on what the devs intend it to be
And there are TEN potential locations for Haldor (and Hildir).
that's still tiny compared to how absolutely massive the world is
The devs intend for some people to want different settings, there's no shame in using them.
Not being able to travel through portals with metal is exceptionally silly. It just artificially increases the game time several times over
No, it just encourages you to get used to sailing.
That or build mini-bases to do your smelting at your mine site.
I'm not one to tell people how to pace the games for themselves with regard to whether to use that slider. But what you're saying isn't true at all in terms of gameplay progression. Bring forge materials to metal sources, not the other way around. On my most recent playthrough, my first iron forge was just a roof built off the side of a swamp crypt.
You have to do ample sailing even with metal being allowed through. The oceans are pretty much completely empty until Ashlands.
That's fine but it doesn't really allow you to build a permanent home--- or you need to set more forward bases and it still becomes a hassle to transport things to the new biome you are conquering.
There is nothing wrong with playing that way, but it is unquestionably more time consuming, not a little more. A LOT more.
Yes, that's the intention. The forward bases things.
No that's totally wrong, it's less time consuming
That is not possible.
It's not hard to get six copper to a swamp to make a forge. And whatever the other little stuff is you need for the forge accessories
It's either the dev's way or the highway. If you don't want to play the game how they intended, take a hike, as they say
Not remotely in any way shape or form.
That's literally what the world modifiers are for. You've just chosen not to use them for some reason.
You're going to spend way more time figuring out how to put that iron on a boat. Meanwhile you need 10 wood or whatever to put the roof over the forge on the side of the swamp crypt.
Foomf, I do understand your Ashlands frustration.
It is a very different experience from the rest of the game, and while I have loved the snot out of Valheim for 800+ hours, I am finding myself repeatedly frustrated with this latest biome because it has totally removed many of the things some players loved about earlier biomes and made it an exceptionally combat heavy experience where exploration is exceedingly difficult and horde ambushes are common. I don't know what to suggest, but just acknowledging that I hear your frustration too.
Oh no I'm using them, but I feel dirty for using them. They're cheats. They're not the intended way to play the game. I dont' feel like I"m playing valheim anymore.
But having an established furnace and blast furnace, forge, workbench, etc all established at a single location allows faster crafting and creation of intermediate materials. It is simply impossible to claim it DECREASES your playtime to build more forward bases to process things in numerous locations.
Again nothing wrong with playing that way, but fact of the matter is it takes much more time over the course of the playthrough
They. Are. Not. Cheats.
They're literally there for people like you with perhaps less free time or less tolerance for 'the grind'.
You're doing something wrong. Centralized production is not faster. Just keep everything on the other side of a portal that's not metal.
There are a lot of pacing issues that I think are entirely valid. I think Haldor is awful, finding Yagluth can be excessively frustrating, and on and on. But on all my playthroughs, I've never found the metal issue to be difficult to overcome at all.
If I can mine out a crypt and walk through a portal with my 30~ iron scraps and toss them immeidately into a furnace, the bars are then already at my ALREADY established crafting stuffs --- multiply this to all materials. This is something I set up for copper.
I did not have to create this for iron.
The same applies to the blast furnace going forward etc etc
each time I visit a new swamp to farm out crypts, I need to set up nothing other than a workbench and a safe portal. Grind the area and return to my base
it is ridiculous to think that slows your playtime. I don't get it
I'm confused are we talking about sailing or to centralized production versus establishing a small forge at a swamp black forest border? Because if we're talking about turning on metal through portal then obviously that's the fastest.
Both? You have to sail a lot more if portals don't allow metal.
Well, that was the intention of the devs in the first place.
The ability to portal metals was only added after too many people complained about it and a mod sorting that problem.
You don't really need to sail more if you turned off metal through portals. You just need to use local resources better. What do you need when you enter your first good swamp, 20 copper and 5 tin to get the forge started with the attachments and whatnot? That's not a lot to throw in your boat while you're looking for that swamp, or to forage from a neighboring black forest if there is one. It's just never a problem for me.
Playing with the fire mechanic on a new game. A single fire arrow can do a lot of damage!
Then you can break down your swamp forge and sail around ready to set up shop wherever.
if you are "using local resources better" then you are grinding more in each area, whereas my centralized base already has the things I farmed from previous zones collected in one location.
I honestly am battled you think this doesn't effect playtime.
A lot of furniture requires metals, so not being able to bring materials for furniture through portals kind of feels like punishing me for wanting to build and be creative
There's a creative mode for those wanting to be creative.
Again, the options are all there. You're just choosing not to use them.
We're talking about less than 30 total metal entering the swamp. So that's not any large grind. Then you don't even need to gather it from there on if you don't want, you can just carry as much as you want in your longship and it's already there wherever you want.
I'm just criticizing the intended playstyle
sometimes I want to fight monsters, sometimes I want to decorate my house. Most games let me do either one depending on my mood. A game should not make me change game settings depending on if I feel like decorating or if I feel like going out and about and adventuring/killing things.
will askvins not tame.. if there is another nearby?
i've got 2 in a pit and no matter what they will not start taming.
2 in a pit will work so long as they have food and aren't alert/aggro on anything
Shouldn't affect the taming but you need to seperate asap cause one will murder the other immediately when tamed
If I wanted to remove a runestone with devcommands, how could I do it with forcedelete?
I've never used that command before
can't tame simultaneously like lox I guess lol
Just played Ashlands today... But do they (asksvin) simply disapear if lost aggron on you?
I don't believe you can.
I tamed two at once, you can
No, but they run all over the place and have a very long aggro duration so it proably sprinted back
I was been demolished by a cluster of enemies and when I took care of some, the asksvin just dissapeared
Realized too late this runestone is right in the middle of where I need to place stuff...
Now I have to redesign the structure in that case
Anybody just receently download the game and trying to play with me i just started?
ah nice! i've been trying to tame these 2 for over an hour and a half... no hearts will pop idk wtf is wrong
are they just bugged?
What are ya feeding them?
Maybe is the food, no? Idk which one is tho... and way tame? tame what?
every type of berry
they only eat ashlands berries
from ashlands
are asksvin tamable then? deheck... noice
Not sure then, mine tamed fine
mine also tamed fine, had 2 in a pit
yeah I had tamed one fine.. then a blob blew it up
and now the replacements won't tame
Another question, is it normal to defeat a few enemies and when look back a lot more had spawned?!
Yes sir
A LOT more, no. But if the zone had reached its cap for that type of mob then the next time it tries to spawn more it can do.
thx. I was not expecting to have them back* on my way back, at least they are really slow... those (charrol? what are their names?)
Anybody tryna join my world pretty new looking for someone else to go with
fixed the taming, had to log out and in
I really liked the environment of the Ashlands; but at first, it was too overwhelming... DO enemies spawn at every noise made?! even if the spawner was gone? cause duuude it is nonstop
I made liberal use of spawn suppression
Spawners do not work by sound, no.
Old method? I will too, they are relentless...
I think I am gonna terraform and spawn suppress the entire boss arena, because being swarmed every 30 seconds in regular exploration is bad enough, cannot imagine it during the boss fight
I really liked Ashlands too, my main complaints were
- Too much crap pierce resistant
- not enough gems to go around for the 6-7 of us in our playthrough
I destroyed one of those and yet, more of them keep approaching with their limping creep walk...
That and Hugin says it's a war so as soon as I get stone portals, I bring springs over and build some ballistas.
Then I had a well-defended area I could retreat to as needed
Btw, my first 2 death was because of the water.... (and not drowning)
I was saying earlier, the gem thing is a bit of a kick in the teeth. A lot of the new gear is locked behind them, but the RNG and limited number of fortresses definitely hurts. 3 fortresses conquered and only two gems at all so far, this ratio is seriously problematic if it keeps up
Get boiled?
They really should halve the number of Flametal ores and double the gem loot from fortresses
yeah... didn't know hehehe I fighting a Maw and was barely on shore, but it cooked me alive anyway (twice)
Yeah that would work. Or up the spawn rate to guarantee at least 2 per fort, with a low chance for more.
is the intent to use wards to stop ashlands spawns I wonder?
or perhaps beartraps, beartraps EVERYWHERE
Is the old flametals useless (still)? I had a pack of it
Useless
Use campfires instead
they should allow it to be placed on item standings as mere decorations then... too bad
The gem thing is kinda weird because Ashlands is so small, and every other biome provides a huge number of locations for critical resources, but this locks the one thing required for the new weapons behind RNG in a very limited selection of locations, and you need them for their upgrades too.
I don't know that I will see enough in my solo world, nevermind I have no idea how this would fare with 4+ people
maybe they could remove the need for the gems for upgrading the new weapons once you've already made them
I confess I was very surprised to see them needed for the upgrades, it's a weird balancing choice given the limitations
Do they survive the ash storms?
They can . As for gem may be the dev should add a new enemy that may drop it ? Like a fire rock golem ?
Make them a Valkyrie drop, those things are bad enough to fight, lol
or you could get it from the flametal pillars somehow if you mine it all
Make the flametal pillars like tootsie pops and if you mine to the center you get a shiny gem treat.
Or stick gems at the top, but if you mine it the whole pillar immediately begins it's sinking animation on the first hit
It still very limit though with lavathian . They are not infinite source and somehow rare...for me at least.
That is a good one . Those valkyries are obnoxious to fight without magic lol.
so whats the OFFICIAL DISCORD take on spinesnap vs draugr fang? im reading a lot of FUD onl/ine about spinesnap using too much more stamina to be worth it
think spirit dmg on spinesnap puts it ahead in Ashlands
As all I have at my disposal is mistlands magic and it takes a while, I have actually found Valkyries easier to manage with the heavy Flametal armor, Mistwalker, and spine snap
Eventually I will get some more gems and get to play with the new magic weapons
I don't know how many mobs ashlands do have, but it seems way more than mistlands. So I think that some heavy-HP mobs should have a chance to drop them gems (I have not seem them yet, though)
pre-Ashlands, put Spinesnap in a chest or on a item mount and forget it exists.
It is useful in Ashlands though
They swarm the whole biome lol
omg now i so want to see a Rock Fire Golem!! Ill sign the petition!! This is a genius thought that must become reality!!!
just what Ashlands needs, more giant scary crap
I know it is not related to ashlands, but I have always wondered why do the ice golem, made of SILVER, that is found in the mountains it is not in the same "family" of the mountains mobs...
Could make it like the golems in mountains and have it be hostile to everyone
I actually used the Arabalst for sniping Gjall and upgrade to Ashfang in the Ashlands to use silver arrows
Hunh.
I didn't think of silver arrows
Do they actually help?
Spineap have built in spirit damage
I dun use silver arrow . It is expensive type of arrow due to silver is not infinite .
You mean the summoned troll?
Nah . Mountain golem but on FIRE .
That just sounds like "let's re-skin yet another enemy but give it a different name" again
One should be enough
Those lava bloobs are it, right?
yes!!! Like if a Golem and a Surtling had a giant baby
Bonemaw serpent
I was thinking in summoned troll but that makes it two lol
a reskin of oozes and blobs... so is the serpent... however I like the idea, but of a new mob that is giant and though as ice golem
Three if you count this one but they at least feel different just because they have an extra attack.
Summoned trolls literally have a different appearance and name only and the rest is the same
They dun need to use the same golem model . May be a giant walking stone armor that the previous owner use as weapon of war against Odin.
what is this summoned troll?
Same AI, sounds, attacks...
Now they bounded to protect the ashland ruin.
something that is scary that drops a gem here or there
It takes like 5 to make a full stack and do like 20 spirit damage which is a fully upgraded spinesnap. If you have excess of silver and don't have anything to upgrade then you should use it.
Guys I turned off hughin (the crow) in the setting, and have not turned it back on. If I do, will it still give me some tips of the thing I've already seen ?
Either way , i hope the dev consider having strong rare mob drop gem...
Some mechanism to provide more of them anyway
I have not got any of it, but I agree. xD
Now i am shopping for a fortress that i can claim as my base. But the 2 i saw is in the middle of lava lake.
I own three forts now. They're...okay
are those "fortresses" on the shallow waters worth basing at the beginning? I mean it is safe-ish and stable, aint it?
Right up until a Morgen or Valkyrie drops in to party
Spam camp fire everywhere
What I found most useful for a landing site is the area where the Dverger have an outpost.
The walls are making it pretty enclosed, they can help you with fighting off monsters and once they're gone you only have to destroy the ward to smash the crates for some useful resources.
Set up a shield generator and a portal there and you got quite a safe base before exploring the rest of the area.
They seem to have very low health. I would take the largest one with the most plants to use as a farm and look to take the actual military ones inland with the indescructible wall
ok ok... thx. I was planning on use them to settle and a quick portal back until I go further in the biome...
I was lucky to land at a ruin at the shore that have those vineberry on the wall. I turned the ruin into a dock
I have no found any, yet...
Find a big rock within jumping distance of shore and surround it with raised earth walls
I have a workbench + portal in every ruin half a day's journey apart since its so dangerous to travel at night.
enemies still dont spawn in the water right? (other than flying creature like vultures)
And Bonemaw serpents
That is assuming there is a dvergr camp nearby and it's close to the shore at all
Do valkyrie only spawn near fortress ?
No
is anyone else struggling to find any dragons seems like theres less and less
Drake is a hard man to find
Anyone know where I can find ppl to game with kinda new to discord
they're found only on deeper lands, not coasts
as long you're like not near coasts they'll spawn there
hello hello, some of us are playing valheim and want to invite some people in. we are pretty chill, we come to play togeter whenever we can, no pressure
if you are interested dm me
join us :)) we are starting a new world
Hey quick question, started a new playthrough and taming boars but just realised, I can't kill them until I get the butcher's knife is that right?
I believe with friendly fire on you can shmack em
I didn't even think of that!
Or you could burn them ๐ sky is the limit son
Maybe not burn them ;-;
Gonna personally introduce the 'Morals & Values' update myself ๐
not a bad idea
Nah we the baddies
Does butcher knife one shot tamed animals?
Not sure if it can one shot the new 2* version of the ashlands tame but i think it can 1 shot lox
don't quote me on that tho i'm only like 50% confident on that
Haven't messed around with tames in a year+
It doesn't with lox
it does like near 1k damage
Does knife skill impact the butcher knife tho?
I'm not sure, though my knife skill is near non existent
ye knife skill impacts damage done
just went and tested, level 1 did like 250-350 ishdmg, 100 did 1k
just finished filling an entire reinforced chest with etir ahead of ashlands.. feelsgoodman
Is lava in ashland act like tar pool or like normal water if you dig deep enough near sea level ?
So with Lox you can ride them but there's nothing that can pull wagons besides players?
Like if me and my bud go on a ore journey we just gotta cart back, no workaround?
I noticed that carts are really useful if you build something town sized as your base instead of a single house. Also now that ive been playing on a 10 player server building roads leading to harbour was a really good idea to make pulling carts easier. And finally your running skill and speed greatly affects your ability to pull a cart up the stairs for example, the fenris items set is cart pulling bis.
Also makes it easier to build huge structures as you can pull a cart full of stone and wood with you everywhere. And assorting stuff is also easier if you have your inventory scattered across multiple buildings.
They should add a Lox carriage imo
Saddlebags for lox!!!
I also kinda want that but also it might effect the gameplay meta in an unwanted way. Like it could be too easy? Or you wouldnt want to do anthting without a lox. I feel carts are already filling that need to move heavy stuff around without being too easy.
Can't yeet a lox off a mountain either ๐
Has any1 tried to harpoon a friend and help him pull a cart?
Like you could then ride a lox for max torque.
you can help by pushing the cart from the rear
i had boar help push at times they were aggroed at me and pushed the cart i was pulling along nicely for a long time ๐
Oh, i usually just jump on the cart and make him help me move
I wonder if you could add friendly npc:s to this game. Similar to minecraft villagers with daily routines and such
I really like that feature in minecraft and it makes building villages so satisfying
Valheim
Wooba valheim
ground
Please help me! I'm doing a weird new playthrough on a partially explored map with an old character where I reset the discovered things etc... hear me out, I am building a minimum of 1 big base per biome, please help me decide: A) Moder Mountain near my swamp base, 1 island over, 13 crypts discovered, 100% surrounded by plains but small strip so I can make it across for now (root set level 4). 2 frost caves on there too, no other bosses nearby, medium sized mountain B) Moder Mountain, far away but close to Hildir (my Hildir is on a 3 small meadows / plains island chain which is a nice location in and of itself) mountain has 5 frost caves and is very big. Only 3 crypts in a nearby swamp, not all surrounded by plains, got black forest on the far side. will be much more silver though because of the mountain size. a Yagluth and a Bonemass location are relatively close (bosses very spaced out on this map, but I love sailing anyway) Do I make the MOUNTAIN FORTRESS at the A or B mountain?
also haven't actually even killed bonemass but have found 3 silver deposits with stagbreaker and got level 2 frostner and maxed silver shield
LF Eng/Euro server to join at x2 portal all
Can somone explain to me Cross-Tailwind, is that where the wind is coming directly from the port/starboard sides. or is it part way between port/starboard sides and the stern?
I hope the next biome has a tameable creature that actually follows you about
Lox don't follow, weird frog thing from ashlands doesn't follow
kinda lame
Wolf???
Morgen gjall.
#1024264966712340510 is the place for that.
Thanks Judge ๐
Meowning
I would suggest A purely for the iron.
Silver is a no brainer since you use it in a very small number of recipes.
And you said you like sailing, so getting to Hildir and the bosses wonโt be too much of a pain
Thanks thatโs a good take, long term probably a better option and for later the plains fully surrounded is also good
Any dedicated european server here that could use another player? Im in mountain/plains gear but the dedicated server i was on crashed and disapeared. Looking for one with same ish progression. Pm me if so ๐
#1024264966712340510 Is the place for that, brows at your leisure or post something yourself.
im new to the game but i rly want to get into the game and find ppl to play with
ive only dabbled the first 30-60mins to get a feel for the game
#1024264966712340510 Is the place to look for people to play with. Browse at your leisure or make a post yourself.
I find it funny that bonemaw meat have no new dishes unlike serpent meat which after cooking it will give you serpent stew recipe
Meanwhile I can't even decide if I want to take the effort to find new people to play with after realising none of my old gamerbuddies play any of the same games as me anymore. Just been going strong solo.
I feel something missing from ashland.
Make the Fortress in the First one, and get a portal in the second
I went to a fort , they send out 2 star warrior with a bunch of archer dude and a valkyrie .
Dunno how they managed to get outside of the fort , the bone dude that is.
thanks, will definitely need another portal hub
do trophies serve a purpose beyond the forsaken power ones and just cosmetics?
Can I use pickaxe to damage inner fort door?
gotta need a portal hub for all the other portal hubs right?
Some trophies are needed for weapons or armor.
Others are needed for fishbait.
Most are useless though beyond decoration.
okay got it
is there like a website showing what trophies are used for weapons or armor
Kinda: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Valheim_Wiki
You will need to check the armor, weapons and fish-bait though to find them.
There isn't a list of useful trophies if I'm not mistaken.
I toss most of the leftover trophies in the obliterator.
There is the utilities in their "uses"
i usually keep a stack ofeach trophy unless the trophy is used in a consumable recipe than i keep like 5 stacks
hello guys
i'm having issues with stability of a bridge i've been making. i decided to make it out of stone. i got half way then it didn't want to go anymore. i'm in post bronze age/early iron age.
You might consider using wood-iron beams as a frame.
Attach that to the land at your starting point(s) and put the stone around it.
problem is how long that bridge is as well
Oafff, Just got to the plains. Didnt know about deathskito's. I now know. xD
The root harnessk kinda negates them. The pierce resistance on it is what helps so much, you need to watch out for ||fulings with torches|| though and ||shamans|| since you are vulnerable to fire with it on.
i thought wisp torches could clear the mist, i feel bamboozled
They clear it a tad and are pretty visual from a ways away so it can certainly be used to light a frequent traveled path, to a dungeon you need to visit regularly perchance.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Deep North will set itself apart from the Mountains.
Hopefully the armor will make wolf packs a complete joke by that point
does anyone have the numbers for max all crafting stations, how much copper tim bronze do I need? not concerned about iron as thats nearby
for mountain fort
Workbench: 3 bronze
forge: 16 copper, 2 bronze
cauldron: 10 tin, 5 copper (2 silver)
fermenter: 5 bronze
obliterator: 4 copper
black forge: 13 copper
I think thats all.
what do the pickaxes being stuck in the wall mean
it means the spot was abandoned by dorf
Spoiler but fader was really ez
were you mage or melee?
I was melee and the boss wasnt that hard but it did take bloody ages because he covers his own ground with fire 90% of the time
though the fire DOT did skyrocket a few times out of seemingly nowhere during the fight which killed me once and almost a few times more, I have still no idea how that happened
it was on hardmode though
is battering ram the only way to destroy the inner tower gate of the fortress ?
catapult is the other method
or just hitting it with a weapon for half an hour straight
We found him easy, but we bred like two stacks of asksvin eggs by the arena ahead of time. Totally stomped him.
ah lmao
I thought of doing that too but we didnt find any good askvins to breed until after
although I do realise now how easy it is to actually make an askvin army damn
We got a little lucky and tamed a one star asksvin early on
we didnt know we could tame them until near the end
I kinda wrote of the boss with askvin idea because they cant follow you but honestly just throwing eggs near the boss arena is easy enough to make up for it
but also because a 1-star askvin still gets 4 shotted by a warrior
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the epic loot mod works properly?
I don't see any way to improve things in the forge, maybe it's only possible from a certain table level?
Please give me tips
I'd ask in #mods-discussion , they're more likely to know
Ok ๐ Thank you so much ๐
Stop winking so aggressively
Oh I'm so sorry xD
Why did you change my nickname ):
it was most likely something inappropriate
Ask Smiffe he is the likely culprit and what asatru said.
To be honest, I don't feel like writing to anyone...
Then don't.
yea that previous name was asking for it
So how about those Ashlands
Hello, question about the goblin camps, if I clear their camp, will they spawn there after a while? Or should I play other camps?
no, the villages dont respawn
Understood thanks
They're pretty cool toasty
Managed to tame 2 1star askvins on two separate occasions. And then valk would immediately show up and rush around the hole and kill it. Very discouraging to tame more. ๐ฅน
Also tried to keep breeded askvin in thr fortresses, but they also make a wreck whenever a valk fly in. And destroyed all my boxes๐ฅน then tried to keep them in meadows base moats, they just disappeared into a nearby black forest in a dew days.. and now no more eggs.
Does anyone have tips on how to keep very active large pets?
Finally defeated bonemass
Pens made out of terrain work well for Lox, presume the same would be true for Asksvin.
Mountains is my favourite part of the game so Iโm planning to spend a little more time this time before plains
I need a second to vent here, lmao.
I spent all day building a new house before venturing off to Ashlands to test magic for the first time. Got my butt kicked, unsurprisingly, as my magic skills are at zero. So what happens when I respawn at base with my Staff of the Wild (which I'm still not used to) equipped? Seekers. IN MY MEADOWS BASE. So what does my idiot brain do? Cast Staff of the Wilds. What do the the roots and Seekers proceed to do? Demolish my new base I just frickin' spent 5 hours on. ๐ค
Are the seekers dead atleast?
Very dead.
A win is a win
My man. I appreciate your outlook. You're right, a win is a win.
Plus, all the resources are still there, and you can redesign any sections you may have found to not like in the short time the base was fully built
Hi everyone. New Valheim player here. I'm hoping to find a team to play the game from start to finish
if Building was a skill, i`t be at 200

And the hammer would almost never break/use any stamina.
I mean... a hammer takes no resources to make duplicates of, a single click to repair, and it will still last half a day of building at least if you are working hard with it. You need to go get materials more often than you need to repair your hammer, just repair it when you resupply.
I think they should add the skill, though. just to reduce stamina costs (I believe we all eat weaker food when at base) And also add gardening for farming, just to reduce stamina as well xD that would be nice
Hildir's clothes reduce stamina usage with the hammer, hoe and cultivator. Just change your outfit ๐
Which biome is Hildir to be found in?
im too lazy to play on new seeds
but old seed have too many mobs with modded stats, and it kinda fuk my gameplay
imagine full mistland set getting oneshotted by a 0star deathsquito
Meadows from 2000m out.
God damn my moder mountain has well over 400 silver on it
Im trying to figure out how the hell im gonna bring it all back to base
cart, gravity, side of mountain, longship
cart
i once mine an entire mountain, make a mountain rod while transport a full cart of silver back to my ship
Yeah carts definitely the way to go itโs just the placement of it since all the veins are spread out
I guess Iโll place cart at the side Iโm gonna push it down and then figure it out as I go along
still no meginjord ๐ฆ
you need to plan a road to connect all those spots if you can, bring a hoe with you, a couple pickaxe and a portal
you can either make multiple carts at each deposit and accumalate them as deposits are emptied or, tranfer them through chests or very slowly by foot
See rn Iโve just been placing chests at each location as I mine it up and marking the amount of silver on the map
carts are pretty cheap aand easy to transport 1 deposit ata time to the main cart youl chuck of the side of the mountain
luckily my base is just across the river from the mountain
but my boats all the way out at bonemass a couple islands away
build more boats
i have a base with like 20 portals, everytime i have to use boats i bring a portal with me, unless the its mistland, cuz i cant see anything there
did the last update adjust the barley/flour ratio?
Either I'm forgetting to grab flour every second time or I'm getting twice as much as I used to.
World modifiers
haven't changed any
Although I think it doesn't affect flour production output
What you put in the mills is what you should get
that's what I thought too.
Could be desync issues too
Maybe I'm just really forgetful.
feels like it's been at least 2 or 3 times recently.
I built a roof over my asksvin in the ashlands 'cause I had the same issue
Not guaranteed, but it keeps them from climbing out and aggroing on every little thing
I have a wall around my meadows base, too... keeps them from wandering away
๐ฅน now need to go find another stared askvin
Have only seen one 2 star askvin in 100hours
Nope, I'm just super forgetful.
I'm scared to go find one
๐ Might be a 1-hit KO
Okay first cart full of silver is successfully down a side of the mountain
Maybe I'll ride a 1 star in to pull aggro, then ride back to safety screaming the whole way
Got a nice 168 silver for my first trip and a bunch of rocks to continue building the base
Hit a couple nodes, eh?
Upon further inspection thereโs atleast 500 silver on this mountain
That's a lot
Itโs the mountain with the boss on it maybe thatโs why
But I was surprised myself considering Iโm playing with 1x resources
Thereโs a good 7 frost caves and the howling cavern too
Okay so my wishbone picked up something underneath the ground in my bonemass swamp but when I try dig down thereโs water because itโs close to the coast
Is there something Iโm missing or is this thing underground just unobtainable in the swamp
Is it?
There are mudpiles buried in the swamp similar to ones you find in the crypts but they rarely have much iron.
Mountains are usually filled with tons of silver in my experience
Be a Viking. Sail a Longship down the mountain.
does anyone have any tips on how I can improve my valheim builds?
Watch videos of people doing builds for inspiration. It's neat seeing what people can come up with. Personally, I like Phinqs.
Seems kind of useless having them under the swamp where the water prevents you from reaching them
I think I just did the stupidest thing possible, I saw a coastal fuling village and thought I could just run in and grab the barley and flax
Completely forgetting I had no rest bonus and was wet..
Probably gonna take Yagluth for the first time today. Any tips?
Attack him during his initial spawn, bring fire resistance, use the stone pillars for cover
It's a fully upgraded silver sword with a few left for cauldron upgrade
fire resist, frostern/silver sword/BMsword (one of those) padded armor or if you are confident you can use fenris, good food dont use arrows, they dont do much
Probably doing it with a buddy. He likes bows. Should one do ranged and the other melee, or should we both do melee?
Ranged is pretty useless against him
Yeah ... I'm honestly not certain why they're there? I've found a few of them accidentally early game and in one case having a stonecutter at that stage was huge but that's the only time it's ever helped.
he is very resistant to pierce (0,25xdmg) so bow is really not a great choice
Egen with frost arrows?
If you ... play with fire? I I guess that is how you'd say it hahaha it could be useful for early game players who haven't beat the elder and want a stonecutter like that.
Then you can build fancy chimneys that don't result in your house burning down.
he is not weak to it, so it will just give him straight frost
Ah, got it.
I'll make my buddy a silver sword, then. Already planning on using frostner
silver sword does a bit more dmg but nothing significant, depends if you want to use that much silver ๐
I have 2500+ hours in the game and on my most recent playthrough decided to do swords.
It takes like... 150+ silver to make a fully upgraded sword, right?
It was almost my whole stash, it was a ton.
So maybe silver arrows would be better...
yeah, 160
Not worth the silver tbh
I'd concur w/ that. The spirit damage isn't worth the effort required for retrieving silver.
nah, frost will do more
you can compare
Got it. Frost arrows, it is. I'll use frostner and he'll use frost arrows
If I were fighting Yagluth with a ranged friend, I'd recommend they use frost arrows while I rock a silver sword.
sounds like a plan ๐
Frostner is good thatโs what I used
Yeah Frostner's good for that fight too
second best, tied with BM sword in dmg iirc (while fighting Yag), silver sword does a bit more but yes, its great
Ranged friend packing a silver knife as a side arm just in case would be a good idea.
Oo, I like that. I have a bit of silver lying around. Might be enough
The silver knife is wildly underrated I think.
Abyssal knife looks better in my personal, totally unbiased, and utterly irrelevent opinion ๐คฃ
That reminds me, I needa find a leviathan...
It is pretty cool lookin
More chitin decorative items might be cool.
oh it indeed looks cool ๐ but i believe that statement was made in relation to stats not looks
Make some silverware or somethin, or boneware I guess
yea that's what I thought. One weapon from one mountain doesn't sound that incredible
Granted I rarely make expensive weapons like silver sword or frostner, so maybe I am underestimating the cost that goes into them
Indeed ๐คฃ
Hence the utter irrelevance of my input ๐
Omg I managed to get my shit back from the village in just troll armor
But that sword will be really useful three biomes later.
And useful one biome later against the boss
Yeah I don't do the last upgrade on a lot of weapons until I have tons of resources because it's rare that the last upgrade is worth it.
I didnโt have time to see what I missed from my corpse, but I have my armor tools and the barley and flax
Im pretty certain I just left the hammer on my corpse and maybe some frost resists
Yeah, I never fully upgraded the iron set.
Padded set and silver set, yes.
Iron set is SUCH a troll
Pretty sure troll armor in a fuling village seems pretty irrelevant.
Might as well go naked

It will save you from 1 hit.
Sometimes that's all you need
It's ridiculous how much iron it takes! But it's all good. I set the world to 2x resources with that in mind, and it's still a grind
anyone ever had problems with the Ore runneth evermore mod?
#mods-discussion would be a better place to ask
thanks
Even at max level it's like 36 armor without counting cape.
Food is a lot more important
Ye, gonna attempt a no armor playthrough here after fighting/testing the final 3 bosses with no armor, food is the biggest factor.
Fully upgrading that padded set and getting to 100 total armor was very satisfying, though
Im sure it won't do me much good once I get to mistlands, though
Anyone else have boars in their world that randomly get the zoomies? Randomliy I see boars absolutely truckin through the world, like enough that I always look to see what they're running from.
Nothin. They're just runnin.
I did this.
ONCE.
First playthroughโฆ
NEVER AGAIN!!!
i really dont get the iron is so hard to gather thing, maybe when you play with multiple people it can become a problem but i think that goes for nearly every resource, i usually have enough for everything i need to make (granted i dont build much so i dont use any in buildings :D)
Itโs enough
Oh itโs not that iron is hard to gather per say.
I just HATE the swamps ๐คฃ
Also, I have better things to do with that iron than upgrade an armor set I will use for perhaps 1/8th of a playthrough
Iโd rather invest in a set of root armor.
The fire setting is so much fun. Like it completely changes the relationship with fire in the game.
A couple errant fire arrows and suddenly the gd forest is burning down
Figured out fireplace. Before you could get away with 2m x 2m but that's way too close now. I think you can do 3m x 3m but it requires really precise placement of the fire - I ended up going 5m x 5m
I've been noticing 2x2x8 works but still smothers a little. When did smoke/fire change
Ashlands
#building-screenshots message what do you think?
I'm playing with the "flammable in all biomes" setting
that's not what they call it but I don't remember what its actually called
Tbf it works nice on a dedicated server. Acts as a timer prolonging burn time.
For a fireplace that is
"flammable in all biomes" how does that work?
Play with it and see for yourself! ๐
I'm not trying to be a jerk, you just have to see how it works for yourself to really see it. Things catch on fire.
You can burn your house down.
"Only you can prevent forest fires." - Smoky the Bear
Scary) it turns out as if you enter the biome and the character starts to burn?
You can accidentally start a forest fire fighting trolls. It's fun.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I get it, vanilla doesn't have like fire spreading, ๐ง
Unless you're the mocking jay
So when trees or houses burn down, is there building materials left over like in other forms of destruction
Aye. Resin and coal is what I've seen.
Neat
It's a lot like Minecraft - if you deconstruct it before the fire spreads to that piece, you can keep it from spreading.
Or building with non-flammable materials
Odin wont leave me alone ive seen him 4 times in 3 minutes
You at your base taking it easy or building?
Im just walking around in plains after building for a bit
Dad only visits me when I'm not making progress
thats probably why hes visiting me i was chilling for a few in game days
only time the CEO ever sees me is when I'm out on smoke breaks
This is the way
of stone, for example, but you have to make a stonecutter, and that takes a long time.
But that build though, you stoked on it!?
Yeah i made a base in the swamp a very big plains farm and a portal hub in meadows
just realized i was not making prog in over 30 in game days
Sick. A network of things
By the way, I have a question about farms, what are they?
they are... farms?
I've been there. Can spend 100s of hours just building. Only one that cares is Odin.
No, what farms are there and what can you get from them ?
Produce and livestock can be raised
The building wasnt what took long it was just making sure all my crops are safe by digging around and making the area flat
Multiple vegetables and animals. All yielding relevant materials for recipes
The portal hub was nice though i have 16 portals ready to be used
Dang tons of work for sure
yeah alot but its alot cleaner than what i was using before
From experience with farms. I try to keep them raid free and also keep my crops a few meters in from the perimeter. Have had shamans come blowing poison breath through walls to kill plants
yeah i put mines in the plains so only thing id be worried about it are lox
i digged around and raised the ground high so i should be fine
Minimal player base structures (1-2) to prevent raids. Had a drake raid destroy entire fields
*when blobs attack your base but you`re 100% safe behind your walls
*
I dont have a base just my farm i havent decided where to put my base
Well player base structures are what's counted. I believe the minimum is 3 such pieces.
My first base got raided by a bunch of star trolls so its best to say thats gone
and now ive just been living in anything
There's a wiki page that lists all of the specific items that count as player base. I've had a few structures deleted from raids. Now I kite mobs until the raid ends. Islands are a sweet place for a base. Most raids won't spawn mobs on islands. Unless something changed.
I know a good spot if island are good then
Is Ashlands laggy on the actual islands themselves for y'all?
I ask because I'm currently playing on a server with 2 other people, 3 total.
Everything was perfectly smooth until Mistlands (occassionally slightly laggy)
but in Ashlands it's like 20-30% of the time shit is like SECONDS behind what we are visually seeing, or just straight up teleporting. Sailing around the Ashland's waters or fighting on the boat etc etc always seems fine
The rest of the time it's fine --- checking my latency when things are clearly lagging and I'm not seeing any spikes so I'm curious if it is like that even in single player ATM or what
Some kind of high plateau unreachable by mobs?
You guys ever think were gonna be able to put wolfs and boars threw portals?
I sure hope something happens with taming in the future. It takes far too long (breeding as well) to ever make it worth it. Speaking purely from efficiency's perspective if you are just progressing through the game it is never worth it to tame/breed anything.
30 minutes to tame a wolf is crazy tbh
not to mention if you disturbe it its gonna take longer
by the time you got tame animals of a biome, youre already in the next one, with little need for the animal resources
Well, even worse is the same issue with crops --- the fact you have to be in the area in order to trigger breeding is absolutely ridiculous.
i mean id say its worth taming wolfs because they can help out during raids
Its a small island that youd drown if you swim to it directly but its big enough to make a decent sized base
Assuming you have a base in the mountains or on an island connected to one where you can move the wolves sure
i tamed some chickens for the sake of it but i was never actually in my base long enough to get more than 10 glazed chicken in the end
Then you simply don't do it...
Done
No shit
