It's definitely one-part sad. But, I've started playing again with my wife, so we're progressing together and co-op is frikkin' great. Also... if we get in real trouble, we can call on on the hero that is my fully-Mistlands-geared toon to come and save the day.
im getting real sick of my entire eitr bar being drained fighting one enemy when there's five on me at a time
the skeleton AI is crap, they can't keep up with you, their dps is horrible and they're basically only useful as meat shields to distract enemies while you slowly, agonizingly chip down their health bars one at a time
i couldn't help but laugh earlier when i summoned one and it immediately ran directly into the lava and died
I made that deadraiser one time with another char and decided it is not for me 😄
those skellys are hardcore though
If you get 4 skellies on Vhard at 100 blood magic I'm pretty it's 1200 damage each time they all do a hit. That's some nice dps
Not that many people are gonna play vhard or 100 blood magic
anyone looking to start a new world
people in #1024264966712340510 are
just got my blood magic to 40
lol mine is at 11 😄
working on my axe now because berserker is so strong
What ana said below
Maybe the changes weren't moved to the live released and stayed in the PTB.
That's just software development things
And then eventually get backstabbed in deep north update with no dual axe 😂
Maybe dual swords next?
Dual dual axes
Or dual magic shotguns
Secondary attack applies feather falling
i'd rather have a battleaxe with a moveset that doesn't suck.
twohanded axes are kinda sad rn
Trying to figure out which weapon would be best mage melee backup weapon, probably just atgeir, even if it's from mistlands
In Ashlands? Either Himminafl or Demolisher.
Ashlands been really damn good for leveling up, went in 2 days from 30 to 45 (elemental)
But damn these infested mines suck for finding cores. Cleared so many of them but only got 30
Lol for me it was very good for de-leveling, I went from like 55 swords to 32 within the first day or two, slowly climbed back up since then gladly though but all my other skills got effed equally
so far I've died only once to the big birb. I ran out of stamina and at that same moment it managed to break through my shield, and then went for a combo very next moment
but now that I've finally got my hands on ashland tier staves doubt I'll be at risk of dying much anymore
Nice, it's been a smooth sail for you then... I've died probably around 50 times in Ashlands by now lol
My first landing was the worst possible place, it had 2 Asksvin spawners right next to it so I would get like 12 Asksvins per day, Morgen spawner there aswell and sooo many Charred.. The next landing for me was much better, so much more calm. It clearly makes a difference where you setup
what exactly does the shield generator do?
It protects the base from falling fire
ashlands has falling embers that set things on fire, it blocks those
ohh ok, thanks
it blocks weather effects & projectiles and prevents spawns inside it.
what does an asksvin spawner look like?
Sorry I was unclear, they don't have an actual spawner (as in like the ones that spawn Charred etc) but more like, fixed spawn positions like Morgen do... Spots where they will always spawn if the spawn conditions are met. This is based on my own experience so far so take it with a grain of salt, but it seems like too much of a coincidence that some specific spots ALWAYS spawn 1-3 Asksvin, often several times a day.
Does anyone play Epic Valheim?
i thought bow draw back was instant when you hit 100 with bows?
i wanna ask a question: does anyone else find ashlands less enjoyable because of the number of the enemies?
valheim was always a chill game for me, and having it be just COMBAT COMBAT COMBAT at all times gets really exhausting
The Ashlands is meant to be hard...
i just wish there was more downtime
there isnt even that much combat imo
i'm just comparing the amount of time spent fighting stuff, and the only biome that had a comparable enemy density was swamp
In Ashlands you kinda wanna pick your battles.. If you kill everything coming at you there's no time to do anything else really before the nightfall... Most mobs stop chasing you after a while so most can be skipped
it also doesn't help that i hard invested into magic in the mistlands. That one is on me tbh, it was obvious the next biome would be fire resistant
Also, using friendly fire to your advantage is a great addition.. Big birds especially are great allies for clearing trash
There is also the Staff of Frost
You might want to give it a try
which has awful accuracy and low dps
setup your base properly and then you can breath. I've spawn proofed the area around my base and been able to chill there just fine, and just leave it when want more action
that's basically all i'm using, and it takes AGES to kill anything
there are more staffs in the ashlands
Nope
It slows down enemies, which is good against the Morgen, and some of the enemies are weak to frost.
by the time i'm done with a typical wave of "everything at the same time", another has already spawned
the mistlands bow has been pretty reliable for all enemies but the asksvin
ngl, staff of embers > frost quite often. Only when the fight is up close I prefer frost.
3-4 skeletons, 2-3 pigs, at least one bird or morgen (usually two)
that's a lot to chew through
So you invested in the most broken playstyle in the game?
Yeah, no surprise you struggle, being op yourself makes everything harder...
Wait, it's actually the opposite
Yeah, the spawning is perpetual that's why you gotta skip alot of fights, fight only where you really need to stop for something, most of the tail on you will have turned back by then
small birds you can ignore, their attack is slower than your walk speed
i mean the valkyries
the small birds i actually completely forgot about, yeah, they're a non-issue lol
did they update the way level 100 bow works? on videos it seems to be instant draw but im only having very fast draws at 100
But still, from what I've tested, the Staff of Embers still does some pretty good damage to some creatures in the Ashlands, like the Charred Warrior, or if you have a lot of Charred Twitchers in one spot.
Yes
yeah staff of embers is also pretty good for the dense fortresses
damn i was really looking forward to that instant drawback.
usually i just fire a bunch of thorns inside and wait outside
is that the fragmenting one? I crafted it, and while the damage is good, it's really annoying to aim
embers works fine basically against everything, staff of frost is just that bad...
It was a good nerf
And is still op
or do you mean the old aoe fireball one
Mistlands one
staff of frost works really well for bonemaw imo
Yeah it does
oh for sure, it shreds through bonemaw and birbs
And Voltures too
oh, one more question that may explain my issues: does enemy hp scale with the amount of players?
Yes it does
i play with a friend, but his PC is terrible, so in the ashlands he is severely underperforming in every sense of the word
so maybe i'm just being sandbagged by him, and that's why combat is such a slog there
it gets easier with the ashlands equipment for sure
it's not too bad solo, still extremely slow start, but once you get going it's not that bad
Yep, once you get your hands on all the goodies, things will smooth down for sure
also, we got trolled by the sinking ore once, and recovering the gear was HELL
You gotta be quick
it's more the fact that for at least 15 seconds we thought the lava was rising, rather than the pillar sinking
What is annoying about those is how hard it is to get a good footing, feels like you're trying to jump on slippery rocks
half the time on those rocks i just get knocked off by a bird, its annoying
Lol. True. I recall something similar happening to me aswell
though with the queen power you can get a surprising amount of ore ive found
And sometimes I aggro a nearby valkyrie, then it's all about getting the heck out of there
probably good idea to make sure there's no flying shits anywhere near you
And upgraded BM pickaxe
It's probably the first time a tool/weapon becomes actually necessary to upgrade on any setting
btw, did anyone else see a valkyrie flying for the first time and get a slight hint of Shriek from the second Ori game? they have a similar vibe when flying in the distance
idk why, but that thing's imagery has stuck with me more than it probably should have
anyone need an extra to fight the queen?
(by valkyrie i mean the ashland enemy, not the start ravens)
Omg yes! I thought of the same thing
They look alike
Well, mostly. They both have that same vibe

Lesson learned: next time I establish a copper quarry, I should find a copper node next to a black forest coastline where tin can be gathered
I hope they rebalance it like have have new biomes in the past.
i really hope they dont 😅
Do roots produce less sap each time? I'm trying to harvest from ones that are Pulsing with energy again, but getting like 20-30 sap max =\
The glitch where a server disconnects you and deletes your corpse is tiresome
thankfully there are cloud saves
they depleat and if you let the alone for a while they replenish
need a few roots and move the extractor to have a constant supply
it says it's fully replenished but im not getting the 40-50 I usually get. Visual bug maybe where it says it's fully refilled before it actually is?
if it does not glow full tilt it is not fully replenished
i care more for what it looks like then what it says on the writing
im looking at it and it says "pusling with energy" in text. Maybe I will take a page from your book and go off looks instead of text
ngl imagine if deep north has references to diggy diggy hole in the main theme, that'd be nice
this version specifically, the more valheim themed
at least if dvergr will spawn there to have it in the theme of their camps
you can only get 1 Dyrnwyn per world, even in multiplayer?
aw, that's sad, but I get that it's supposed to be a nice reward
I'm guessing upping resource rate would mean multiple swords per world
I really don't think that one's affected by the slider
it's mostly useful as a wall decoration right now so not really a great loss 😂
I'm checking with a video, two of the fragments can be found just lying on a pedestal, the third one drops from Lord Reto
the rate modifier would have to affect the action of picking the fragments up from a pedestal
how so?
It's good for everything but Ashlands 😄
Since it ||lacks a proc effect and only gets a flat 10 fire damage|| it does less damage than the other Ashlands swords, Mistwalker and even the Silver sword (vs spirit-weak) against Ashlands enemies.
And most enemies in Ashlands are resistant or immune to fire on top of that so it's basically a basic Nidhogg with a fancy light effect that eats the gems you'll need the most of to craft.
oh that sucks. I wish it was meaningfully stronger given the quest needed to obtain it
Did they patch the stagbreaker uncovering chests?
I don’t remember anything about that in the patch notes, and it doesn’t seem like a bug. Are you sure there is a chest where you are using it?
I’m smacking it around the stone circles in the meadows rn
I don’t think those always generate a chest
Looking far beyond yonder, it would seem logical it'll be very nice for Deep North
Ahh ok
yep, but still - it would be nice if it gave a significant edge
it's still only 10 fire damage
updating the wiki page with this info
it's already there
I meant the obtaining + it being bad in Ashlands
Yep it was that lol
it's bad everywhere. It does less slash at level 2 (131) than a basic level 1 Nidhogg (135), +10 fire damage. Which gives 6 point damage advantage before weaknesses or resists.
lightning nidhogg gives you more slash, 10 lightning damage and a 25% chance to get a triple-digit chain lightning proc on top of that.
- Despite how difficult it is to obtain, it is inferior to the Nidhögg and its enchantments, dealing less slash damage.
- Because it deals no spirit or frost damage, it is even worse than the Mistwalker or even the Silver sword against Ashlands enemies.
Lvl 2 Dyrnwyn has 151 Slash though (not 131) but yeah I woulda hoped the fire damage would have increased at level 3, there's still hope for level 4 in the future
I have one in my backpack this very moment 😛
it would need to be a huge increase to keep up with lightning procs. Even primal is pretty nasty against enemies not immune to poison.
The lack of a powerful proc is what really hurts dyrnwyn.
huh wiki is wrong then. I didn't check ingame.
A primary attack could have a chance to set the sword on fire, making the secondary attack deal a lot of extra fire damage?
Not particularly useful in ashlands but unique and works with the swords design
oh yeah, it looks like stats changed, and the datamine was outdated
correcting now
i'd be happy with a fireball proc centered on myself. Just exploding into a blast of flame every couple swings would be awesome (especially with spreading fires modifier lol)
Agree @idle storm it needs a bit of flavor like the other magical weapons in Ashlands, proc or something.. I made a suggestion earlier to have it dry you down/prevent getting wet when wielded
it just lacks awesome for a supposedly legendary weapon.
Yep, kinda does, it's not bad but a bit lackluster among the new magic weapons and their procs
wiki page should be correct now https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Dyrnwyn
Anyone have any issues mining silver? got a few mods on, but my iron pickaxe does nothing to silver deposits
No mining mods
And?
have you rigorously checked all mods are up-to-date for the Ashlands update?
Using r2modman, it flags when updates are available (as far as I can tell)
Just updated a few today
I mean it's pretty unlikely that would be a vanilla bug
Just checked, you are correct
can you get fine wood in ash lands?
Haven't got there yet
a fire weakness doesn't matter much if only a tiny fraction of your damage is actually fire damage.
which is why any hopes that Dyrnwyn will become useful in DN is a pipedream in its current form.
Mass farming mod was the cause of not being able to mine silver...odd
They could make it so you need to...
-
Unlock something very important in DN
-
Use it against something that specifically receives damage from dyrnwyrn or is affected by dyrnwyrn somehow
-
just add a 0 at the end of the fire damage value
You're only and exclusively thinking of the "weapon vs enemy" thinking when they could think of 10k things that the sword could be used for besides just fighting
And the last one is the easiest one
which one are you using? our mass farming mod would break the debug console
MassFarming v 1.5.0 by mokutan
same, can't use debug when active
it's a sword. It's purpose IS fighting. It's also why i specified "in its current form". It needs a buff.
- being a key does not make it any better as a weapon. It makes it the same thing it is now, a wall ornament after you unlocked the whatever.
- see above. You get it out for its super-special purpose and then it's back to another weapon while Dyrnwyn gathers dust.
- lame. Why does the legendary weapon receive less effort than the gem enchants?
Those are examples.
There could still be 99,997 things they can think for dyrnwyrn.
And 100 permanent fire damage in a frost biome is literally 10 times better than its current state whether it has a special attack or not. Especially considering that there's no fire gem/enchantment
I maintain that it will basically remain a wall hanger due to multiplayer balance concerns.
the game already has bad multiplayer balance
I feel like making the legendary sword useless isn't a good design choice
Which ones?
One person getting a better weapon than everyone is is unbalanced by definition.
The better it becomes, the more that's exacerbated.
then the question is how much should PvP be considered
I think so too. so point about Dyrnwyn giving an edge is moot
It's a co-op game, if a player has a great weapon then everyone wins basically
It's not like one person has it and then everyone else is screwed somehow
Can't wait for Deep north to be staff of embers land
Dyrnwyn should be a bit more unique in it's fighting style. Like a different special attack or something
I love when you're sailing along, and a fish just jumps into your boat.
Hey guys I’ve never streamed before but I was wondering if anyone wants to stream Valheim? I’m doing my first ever stream later tonight or tomorrow! I’m fairly good at the game lol
--> #self-promotion
Oh shoot was I not supposed to do that? Sorry💀
Hey, without spoiling, is the mini boss in the ashlands harder or easier compared to the actual boss?
Definitely easier, but his attacks generally do more damage than the boss so you need to be careful, and shouldn’t try to block or parry
High knockback also helps
Far easier
Seems like lord reto has the highest damage of any mob in the game
just fought him with bonemass still took half my HP with one hit
so lots of dodge attacks
I think with magic it might be easier
ashlands is the first biome to make me not want to play the game. damn
With a mace you can very easily kill him without taking damage by using the secondary attack to push him away
Yea, its pretty brutal. Getting yetted into the middle of a lava lake by an Ashvin is just depressing
Well I only got the first piece so I'm sure I will try a few methods
Lord Reto only spawns at one piece, the others have it inside the building
You still have the 2-star spawners, but you can use a ranged weapon to break them from where they won’t spawn enemies
The wiki says magecaps and jotun puffs can be placed 1.6m away from each other, but I know that isn't true because they can be spaced extremely close to one another.
2* are fine 1v1
I don't mind the brutal difficulty spikes. That's what made valheim fun. What's driving me up a wall is everything is they made everything a slog to up the difficulty. exploration is a slog, farming becomes like a 15 minute brawl and your downtime is like 2 minutes. You can't do anything without lighting more campfires than the entire dark souls franchise in the immediate area or fighting all the time
I think his attacks have a stagger multiplier so they can’t be parried. I tried everything with devcommands
There’ll be a lot more than one
fun
2 star morgen, insta log out
yea, 1* was a bit of a challenge, 2* I guess its dodge everything lol
i think root armor + bonemass we can beat him
I don't understand why the slaps from morgen deal pierce but I'll accept it
The bite yes
do they only spawn at night? are there any in caves?
Please, someone can help me?
My map is not loading, saying that is missing meta and corrupted. A tried to restore from the last save but without sucess. I am desperate
If it is not responding you just need to wait for it to respond again. It takes a while to update the world so windows thinks it crashed. Didnt read enough, sorry
Fighting ashlands boss right now with a friend, endless deathloops cuz the all the grausten endlessly clogs my inventory upon respawning, if I even make it past the portal before it is nuked. how am i supposed to deal with this?
Turn auto-pickup off
how?
LB + left stick on controller, I think it’s V for keyboard?
Fought him 3 times in a row
It is not like that. The map dont even start to load. It says its corrupted and missing meta
best Boss fights ingame, idk why before the Queen the Bosses only got 3 attacks
So far for me ashlands boss feels the most unfair, especially the targeted meteors, i cant look up while also looking at the boss and the 300 enemies attacking me at the same time
I think Fader uses fissure and meteors too much, giving a single player no time to attack because it’s constant running throughout the whole fight
Magic is the answer, Dundr + Staff of the wild
I am using magic
Berserkir Axes are op too, wasnt a big deal only died 15 times
Berserkir axes would be great with less recovery time
I can’t even hit a charred warrior twice before I need to roll away after jumping over it for as big of a window as possible
waiting for Deep North while playing on Very hard
waiting a long time lol
Ashlands just dropped
2yrs maybe
They are great with the recovery time...
Without it and it would just be too broken, why using literally any other melee weapon when the axes are just perfect?
I'm 100% sure they are the way they are because of balance
Welp I just beat the fader on hardmode for the first time
So painful
this was our third playtrough and first hardmode playtrough
never wanna do it again
lmao
when does using magic become available
Mistlands
which is the 6th biome
ah okay, im at plains right now :p just got here
Ur almost there then, u do need to do quite a bit of different stuff in mistlands before u have all the pieces for the magic stuff but it's definitely worth it.
magic does get quite busted in ashlands
Not if you use the shield bubble around yourself.
busted means good
yeah lol
spam bubble shields for days though for real
I just watch my girlfriend fight melee while spamming bubble shields whenever we are actually nearby each other
otherwise ice staff go brr
Since when?
Because in my book, "Busted" means getting caught while doing something that isn't allowed to be done.
||or I drop a couple trolls and run||
probably the last decade by now
eh new loco nothing means what it means lol
broken = strong XD
makes no sense but its been that way for a while
calling something broken or busted means insanely powerful
but yeah its purely contextual
Well, perhaps it's a good idea to skip using slang and street language and stick to the plain old English for us old geezers?
I was the melee user and honestly my mage friend outpaced me so hard in the ashlands, although they did die a lot lol
lmao
I couldnt do shit most of the time
I did do quite well against the boss in those very, very few moments I had the space to actually hit the dude
yeah thats also why I try to be support for her, I dont want to do everything
his aoe almost permanently prevents you from melee'ing him
shes already less of a gamer than me, and me having an advantage in the class makes it worse, dont want her to feel useless
is there any use for bonemaw meat besides just cooking it?
glad we did put the death penalty on minimum
weirdly no for some reason
just cook it
also I noticed that occasionally during the fader fight the amount of fire damage/tick you get randomly seems to SKYROCKET and I have no idea why
More likely, "not yet".
We have no idea what's coming in the DN
its rare but it did cause my only death during the fight (and almost killed me a few times more)
I am going into Ashlands today any tips?
I meant I got a portal down in Ashlands
And am actually exploring it today
do not land until you make absolutely certain your landing area is pretty clear of any buildings, besides that treat your first entrance as you would be entering normandy beach in ww2
Bring mats for a stonecutter as you will need it.
Make sure you make your base spawnproof (campfires will do) and set up the shield generator asap.
for some reason our ashlands entrance was LUDICROUS, in our entire clearing of the ashlands the spawnrates were nothing even remotely close to our landing location
it was absolutely indescribably ridiculous
How to make shield generator
we died because of it, our second landing was a cakewalk compared to it
is root armor still BIS with ashlands?
Root armour 💀
Isn't that like 4 biomes behind?
root armor can be real good in mistlands, its terrible in ashlands though
And regarding buildings; there are some Dverger outposts over there which are most likely already overrun.
If you happen to be able to land near one and if the Dverger are gone, claim it as your base as it's quite easy to defend, plus the crates in there may help you a lot with materials.
the one and only dverger outpost we found died within 1 minute as all dvergers walked into lava and instantly died lol
It should be in your hammer's crafting menu if you made the plates for the new ship.
Hmm... I don't think I would agree since it's weak to fire and gjall is the mob that's most dangerous in mistland
we did find a whole bunch of stragglers around the continent which helped us a bit
Oh I didn't make the new ship
Better do that first, otherwise you'd most likely not even get to Ashlands.
wear the chestplate only, sure it gives fire weakness but it reduces the damage of 2 out of the 3 attacks seekers have by 50%
I got to Ashland through sling shotting myself from a near by mountain
OH RIGHT I still wanted to catapult myself of a mountain hahaa
I forgot about that plan I had
XD, the game is amazing devs can take all the time
And regarding that ship; sail south until you get close enough to the Ashlands to see the red water.
Find a spot in another biome - even Mistland islands can do - and set up a small base build in Black Marble over there. Make sure you got a portal and a workbench there and craft that ship over there.
It'll be very useful if you want to return to Ashlands after you died and your portal got destroyed.
Honestly, just use bonemass buff
true but you cant keep that permanently up
Unless you are playing in very hard difficulty which then you should avoid getting hit itself
its just one inventory slot, just switch back and forth whenever needed
Morgen and Archers are completely denied
I did not expect the morgen hmm
although I gotta admit for a game with this many items the size of the player inventory is bloody criminal
I generally had 10 slots max open in my inventory after midgame
You could have slot potions in there, just wear high armour stats armour, you will have no fire weakness, no need to switch
Morgen aren't fun for me.
I got no(t many) problems with the other monsters, but Morgen are a PitA.
Chaotic Brute for a chaotic biome
Anyways I'm going in Ashlands today with my wolf armour wish me luck 🫡
it seems fair
While a 2* Charred Warrior was hitting hard, but manageable using the shield bubble, Carapace pants, tunic and shield, Eitr weave hood and Mistwalker.
I could craft padded but I want to test if wolf armour can handle it, and see how far can I take with my progression by saving resources
Oh shit I forgot raids can happen even outside of my base
how long will it take for a mistland dungeon to regenerate ?
I have to make a correction about the shield generator.
It's needing Iron, Copper and Shield Core.
Shield Core can be made of the same mat you need for the new ship, if I'm not mistaken.
Ceramic Plates
|| made from Black Marble at an Artisan table after upgrading it using the queen drop ||
And THAT was exactly what I didn't want to say.
skill issue
do you guys know the mod JewelCrafting?
You might consider asking that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
ok tahn
i didnt know that this was a thing so i looked it up. the wiki says every 4 hours
on the server modifiers is setting the raid frequency to "much more" too overwhelming for 2-4 players?
It'll probably just get incredibly annoying to be honest, I've never found a raid to be much of a threat just another chore that I need to take care of back at base like filling up fireplaces and torches.
It's more of an "Oh now I've gotta go fight off XYZ and that means my food might burn".
Looks like based on probability, you'll get a raid every 4 hours 10 minutes on normal settings, on "Much More" you'll get a raid every 70 minutes on average
If you want to see if you'll find it annoying, set an alarm to go offf every 14 minutes and do five push ups every time it goes off, see how long it takes before you get sick of the alarm
Those stupid bats showing up every 14 minutes...
Considering that the longest events are 2.5 minutes, you'd potentially be spending approx 20% of your time dealing with raids, then you've got to fix up all the base structures they've damaged, rebuild everything that's been destroyed etc
staff of the wilds is awesome. why is nobody talking about it
Because it's good?
There's not really any discussion to be had
Person A: staff of the wilds is good?
Person B: Yes I agree, it is pretty good
End of discussion
Now discussions about something being bad on the other hand.
Person A: Spears are bad
Person B: Spears saved my life and I have named my first seventeen children after famous spears from history how dare you
Discussion ensues
Ngl tho spears are not as bad as people might say
Especially in the mistlands, you can throw it up and down on gjall and through gaps in the infested mine
Me throwing my spear up and missing then having to go craft another spear
Spears are great! If you can retrieve them...
Fair point
are the tall stone towers in the plains made of something special? why do they float
At least they are cheap to make
Float? Most of mine are on the ground.
What do you mean they float? As in you're trying to break one and it's floating with everything connecting to ground broken? If so that's due to hitboxes being weird, post in #screenshots and then link here please
You just need to hit them harder and they will collapse
Also I disagree that spears are good, the vertical combat issue seems to be massively exacerbated by spears overhand attack
I usually use spears in throw mode...for melee I'll use something else.
I never said it's good, just not as bad as people might say
The first weapon that I made in ashlands was the spear, that spear now lives permanently somewhere in a lava pool where I will never find it
Yeah that's hitbox weirdness, on the left side that section will still be connected to ground
I was clearing an infested mine with mountains tier weapons and the spear did wonders through the tiny holes between the first and 2nd floor of the dungeon
😭
Yeah you need a lot more clearance, the hitboxes for stability for those structures extend way beyond their actual models for some insane reason
It's like an extra 1-2m all around, same for copper nodes
some of the rocks on the very top of the tower have broke off
Just keep hitting the stone piller until it falls
I feel like this is a pretty typical use-case for everyone's 1st spear. 😉
Real I was trying fight a drake with fang spear
It worked like once or twice
what is stone puller
🤣 Let's attack that flying mob off the side of a cliff...yeah...bye bye spear!
It's exacerbated by the vast areas of completely impossible to traverse terrain in ashlands, if something goes into the lava there's absolutely no way to get back to it
There's also the fact that pierce seems to be the most resisted damage type due to how OP bows are
Just misspelt piller
does the tower contain something worth having? this has taken like 3 in game days and i feel its a waste of time
Typo for stone pillar.
it contains vast quantities of stone
You know it worked a few times until it didn't
Honestly you don't need to mine out under it, just mine out the base and it'll collapse, you can also just lure over a lox and get that to smash the base up and it'll fall
I'm not saying it can't be done...just sooner or later you probably not gonna have that spear anymore.
Yep I learn that lesson
But the real question is why make a spear beyond flint level?
Flint spear: top tier weapon
Every other spear: Pretty okay but you can probably farm up something equally good or better
They are cheap
Yeah, I think it is only stone...if you smack it with a pickaxe, does it give you anything else?
Unlike silver sword which takes you 40 silver to make the first level of it, you can make many tier 4 spear with that amounts of silver
Does the new boss spawn adds?
Not overly
Bronze spear is 2 less bronze than a mace which is really good
Ancient bark spear is cheaper than the iron mace but you can usually get 20 iron out of a crypt
Fang spear is cheap I'll pay that, but instead of silver sword you can go for frostner which is cheaper and it great up to and through mistlands
Carapace spear doesn't cost refined eitr but you still need a black forge and at that point you can make an arbalest or a krom without needing to kill two seeker soldiers
And the ashlands spear doesn't make sense because all of the charred and the morgen take 0.5x damage from pierce and that spear ONLY does pierce
it's only a few stacks, iirc less than 10, so not a lot compared to the massive size
what are missiles used for?
The ballista
My goal is usually to make 1 of everything, just to see how it feels.
A stationary emplacement that will shoot you
Does the new boss spawn adds?
Fang spear is so cheap, it actually don't hurt to make one anyway
you asked your question 2 minutes ago
what even is adds?
no one answered
Extra mobs...like the way Bonemass spawns globs and skellies. (Adds is a WoW term).
Yeah it doesn't hurt but at the same time the average yield from a single silver vein is about 80 so you can make a frostner off that
All the other spear other then carapace I wouldn't use anyways, I usually skips bronze weapons and iron weapons so I don't craft any of them anyways
The upgrade cost is still there
Sadly, I can't answer because I haven't gotten there yet. 😦 Also SPOILERS please.
You could get like your upgraded armour with fang spear vs no armour with frostner
Also not got to the last boss, I try but every time I step out of my base my inventory fills up with grausten and I feel the compulsive need to put all of it in chests
Ah a fellow compulsive sorter...hi there!
I've seen reports of that, why not disable autopickup?
or do you have the mindset of "what if I need this to build a huge castle later"
every biome has a boss
🤣 I get it, I have a similar problem
Just busted down another fortress wall
I just mean, details on the new boss for Ashlands...please enclose in spoiler tags.
No the mindset is more like "oooooh sparkles on the ground, gotta collect those could be important"
200 grausten
Well, better put this away, come back through portal
"oooooh sparkles on the ground, gotta collect those could be important"
Literally me lol
At some point, you just gotta turn on the "I don't GAF" censors on all the sparklies.
and I agree that this is a thing but at the same time, Frostner is viable up to the start of ashlands and is even okay in ashlands, whereas the fang spear is kind of ehhhhh at all points
Summoned some trolls to deal with the goons and hatched an army of asksvin to help distract some stuff
thats fair
By the time I can get a fang spear I can already have an arbalest so why would I take the worse ranged option there?
I have the ripper
Fair enough, I'm going into Ashland with krom and bow and arrows we will see how it go
First time to ashlands?
Placed down a portal in Ashlands and ready to explore today
Good luck!
It's not easy at all. be prepared to run and hide
If so, I highly, HIGHLY recommend taking some form of frost damage just for the CC you can get on it
I have few hundreds frost arrows
Fortify a base, don't go in unprepared
Also place down campfires
Ok
Make charwood spikewalls
Lol ok
Oh also the asksvin armor set is insanely good for how easy to make it is
Best set of backup armor available in game by far
are there any dungeons in the plains
I had a fallen valkyrie mess my elevated base up a little earlier. my asksvin paid the heaviest toll though. finished it off for me at least
No theres villages
That's what I am planning on I am very under levelled and needs a new armour set
one for hilder
I am thinking to tame a few asksvin and then just make the armour set and take it slow
I hate the Flametal armor. it's like running with lead clothes on
also the villages if you count those
You can't get away from anything
when your stamina runs out then you're screwed
But it lets you live in lava for 0.0000000025 seconds longer so you die slightly closer to the edge
Asksvin bounced me in there
ah. don't let them get that close lol
The long pounce with a bajllion knockback
keep your wits about you now
Other reasons I'm in lava
Fireball spawned under my basalt platform and bounced me off
Flametal pillar glitched out and floated me into the lava with no recourse
anyone else noticed an increased stone golem spawnrate? had 3 in 2 days
It's a linear attack. just move to the side and run the opposite direction of them
Yes when it's just the asksvin, when you're fighting some dudes and then one hits you from the side outta nowhere
What is the command to allow all buildables through devcommands?
don't get surrounded. it's war, they ain't playing with you. they intend to end you
Okay but I'm not perfect and make mistakes
devcommands > Debugmode > B
Tell you what though, I'd absolutely rock flametal armour if it gave me 70% knockback resistance
and use himminafl to knock crowds back
Also sometimes I get knocked back like 20m even when I parry, it's just comical
I'm just finding Yag for the first time lol, the arena biome is surrounded by mistlands
like "whoops you were standing on a slight hill and got hit, off to narnia with you, and by narnia I mean onto this convenient one tile of lava in the middle of normal ground, also that attack broke your parry despite doing 1 damage through it so you're staggered and are going to die"
Pretty sure stone golems have fixed spawn locations, so you're probably just running past some close together spawners
Flametal tower shield blocks like everything but doesn't stagger
ah ok, thank you
I'm a parry guy
Yeah it is what it is, I'm mostly in the ashlands to get materials to make pies anyway
I'm there to take the land for resources lol
Mostly just waiting on some patches to fix some incredibly annoying bugs (flametal pillars, vineberry farming)
However considering that it's been over 2 weeks without a hotfix I assume the devs have gone on another 3 month holiday and none of the current bugs will be fixed
Huggin asked how do you survive yet, made me giggle. with great difficulty, raven...
Also I would love if the drakkar backflip was fixed and network issues causing group play to be untenable in ashlands
I have two drakkar
Damn doing backflips with a ship sounds awesome
No it's not, it just flips upside down and breaks
lolz
First drakkar I got to the shore, established beachhead, go through portal, come back, after a few repititions the drakkar is just upside down sitting on it's mast
is anyone els thinking of that one sea of thievs clip
I always find a stone golem next to one of the small house in mountains
#screenshots message see also
Time to go build some stairs and get yourself some unraidable bases
I built it on a stone arch and secured it with stone and grausten pillars on raised ground pillars
no way you can build on the ground
I had a base on an arch
You can build inside fortresses?
you can take them for yourself yeah
Yep, you can build stairs over the walls and then kill the spawners on the inside, that way the whole exterior is invulnerable to enemy attacks
you've just got to kill everything inside and then put up spawn blockers
I just throw a workbench down, log out and grab my battering ram materials from another world, log back in and make an entrance.
then I summon trolls
I just fortnite my way over the walls and then take it from the inside
a hole in the wall makes it easier to hide from and cheese fallen valkyries
Fallen valkyries are the easiest enemies to deal with in ashlands to be honest
run them in circles and pop shots as they hurt themselves on the spikes
I wouldn't say so
they do massive damage
They've got three attacks
Peck (easily able to be dodge rolled because of it's clear telegraph)
Doom spin thing (just slow walk away and it'll miss)
Fireball (just slow walk away and it'll usually miss)
You can dodge 2/3 of the attacks by just holding S while reloading the arbalest
And the peck is the easiest skill to dodge roll consistently in the ashlands
try running from them. you gotta find something to hide around
okay bud. don't take them lightly
I'm a veteran solo player. I know a little something.
As I said, booting up now I will get you some proof
Like a jackrabbit boxing a hawk
They're never around when I need them
How to avoid all encounters with fallen valkyries
Step 1: want to encounter one
okay there we go, pay no attention to the corpse run debuff at the start there was a 2 star charred warrior incident
Nevermind youtube is gonna take a while to make it viewable
I have 800 hours in Valheim and honestly Fallen Valkyries are the most obnoxious pain in the ass enemies yet encountered. I don't yet have any Ashland crystals and fighting them off with mistlands tier weapons is a pain because once again you can't hit anything in melee that isn't level with you
What's your skill level in it? Because under 30 is an absolute painful slog with carapace bolts
Also I have no idea how you managed to fight a Valkyrie without being swarmed by Charred and Askvin
let me check, and yes I'm using an upgraded stormripper or whatever it is, would still be a faster fight with arbalest if I didn't spend 3/4 the fight faffing around with my melee weapons out to show you can just slow walk away from it's attacks that aren't the peck
I killed those first
and my crossbows skill is level 15
You must be playing a different game because killing them first usually just means I am out of stamina while more spawn and the Valkyrie is literally on top of me.
What's your guys' approach for finding 2 star asksvin? Do you have better luck finding them at night like wolves in the mountains?
currently my approach is I'm not finding them, I assume they're just a super rare spawn at night
I find plenty of one stars so I guess that just means RNG is against me
having a 1 star mount is great, I hope to be able to breed 2 star mounts soon
Couple of things you can do, first is drop some fireplaces, second is that you can lure enemies out one at a time by sprinting a little until one enemy is alerted, pull them back, fight them, and then proceed
You can also just use your arbalest to slap the valk from ages away
whats a good way to get a lot of soft tisue

Time to do a lot of running through the mists not being able to see anything looking for skulls
I take it you're not up to ashlands yet?
I just got out of mistlands
As in you just finished it?
yeah
Does ashlands tier mage stuff need refined eitr as well?
Hmmmm, I always forget campfires suppress spawns
It does
Sounds painful
A lot of it
it is gonna be
On the bright side, the asksvin armour set upgraded twice is as good as base tier carapace armor with no speed penalties and a reduction in run stamina usage
eh, I ran around marking every skull I found on my map as I searched for mines to point me to the queen, it took me a LOT of mines to find the map. So I've got lots of skulls marked
Yea I'm loving the ask set
So slap that on, get your eikthyr buff and feather cape on and sprint through the mistlands
yeah thanks for the info lol
If you don't feel like ramming your face into impenetrable mist you can always use the seed finder
OOF, my mount just got clapped by a sneak attack from a 2 star archer. At least I know the saddle drops now
Don't worry, your mount was going to sprint off to die the moment you dismounted anyway
Ashland's is horrible to go round, it the spawn rate is far too extreme, pls tone it down , too hard and making the lovely chill game we grew to love alot less pleasureable, we cannot go explore as soon as we leave the portal base , it's mob after mob 😡😞
Ashlands you need to go slow, lure mobs out one or two at a time until an area is cleared and then pop down spawn blockers like campfires if you're making a path and don't intend to just portal back
Also parrying and dodge rolling are very important mechanics, if you've not learned them before ashlands it's time to learn them, once you get a bit used to it it's not quite so bad
Also taking bonemass is a good way to clear out an area, just go in swinging and kill everything and then pop down the spawn blockers
Also if you're playing with a group, ashlands isn't really ready for that yet, game's really laggy with players in ashlands specifically for some reason, all other biomes are fine
I'm doing okay with the flametal tower shield and mistwalker
but you do see my point yeah?
Okay, but you see what I mean by spin and flameball being attacks you can just walk away from
Askvsin only spawn around lava pits right? I rarely see them around the coast while trying to clear the spawners.
I've seen them on the coast
I'm trying to figure out where they spawn. Seen nothing for the first 200ms or so and then suddenly a whole herd of them camping around a lava pit
They spawn when and where you don't want them to
Literally. They can keep up with me a full bar of stamina and always launch me into lava pits. I wish there was some gear to make me lava proof for a few seconds to react
Jump up on rocks
do i need to start a new world instead of continuing my mistlands world in order for hildir to show up?
Unless you explored all the meadows, no
ty
another question, my friend loves building "island" bases but personally i find it a pain in the butt, whats the point of island bases?
If you spawn block the whole island raids do nothing
ah
Ok yea I understand why people say Ashlands is hard
The mobs itself individually aren't that bad but there are hordes of them every where
They also hear everything you do and come running from across the entire biome to check it out
I realised that quickly
After a once or twice of save restoring I managed to put down work benches near my portal
For spawn proofing
I am really sad I missed the opportunity to tame a 1 star asksvin tho
There was one attack me and I didn't have anything set up so I had to kill it
My wolf armour surprisingly holds up really well
who trynna play?
Don’t worry they are pretty common
Maybe tomorow me and my friend are acuatly starting out, ive played like 5 mins so if u want u can join us tomorow?
How can charred hear me from so far away when they've got no ears???
is the boat supposed to just sink to the ocean floor randomly when entering ashlands?
seems like if a bonemaw hits the ship it just glitches to the ocean floor
Are you running any mods?
started game with no mods and its still happening
And I take it that this isn't a dedicated server that might have mods on it's own?
nah just a local hosted playing with 1 other person
Did you have valheimplus installed?
https://steamcommunity.com/app/892970/discussions/1/4331978422250324647/
If so this might help
no
Y'all i just saw THREE leviathans right next to each other, like their distance was back to back to back, i would send a screenshot but im still on the ocean, i didnt get a screenshot of the 3 all together but i did get a clip, that was CRAZY 😭
unfortunate, I guess just add it to the list of bugs that should have been fixed either before golive or in a hotfix that are probably going to stay until deep north
that post is explaining the same situation tho
yes but the only proposed solution is changing some valheimplus config, if you're saying that it's happening with no mods then I dunno man
i am using the floating items mod let me fully disable that one
Oh I thought you said you'd started with no mods
i did, but im fully killing that mod and testing
It’s only at this time of year, you stumbled upon a mating peer and its baby. Very rare indeed
yeaah it was crazy, not even sure what those odds even are
I’ve only ever see 2 side by side
with the way they spawn, you could get up to 4 in a close cluster, but that would mean the next closest would be something like 120+ meters away of 30m deep ocean....it would be a "4 corners" situation.
That’s a fully upgraded Razor right there!
and yes, having 2 within shouting distance, let alone 3, is kinda rare.
Ashlands is just BLAHHhhh. Hate it
We will probably just skip this biome and hope the next one will be "fun". Have fun
What’s the problem?
I love Ashland. It's not the first time that every ruin is important and I have to take shelter in them and fight inch by inch. Helps that it's mostly linear in 2 directions
honestly give it a proper go, if you're playing in a multiplayer environment then yeah probably either wait until the networking issues get fixed or install BetterNetworking to fix the teleporting mobs, but once I learned to deal with ashlands it's actually not that bad, you've just got to move slowly and put down spawn blockers
Why 90% of the time i sailing it be foggy weather and couple with the newest boat which aft section is much further that what i can see and it is a recipe for an accident ...
How do i demolish the boat and retrieve full mat? the workcraft station + hammer not work .
The fog is just how it is, game detects you sailing and decides that no you're not gonna have a good time, same for wind blowing in your face
As to demolishing the boat unfortuantely the only way to do so is hit it with a weapon, ideally stand at the mast because there's where it's drops spawn when you break it down
Has anyone had issues with random building pieces inexplicably taking damage? I've seen fences, stone pillars, and stone 2x1 blocks randomly be almost completely broken for no discernable reason
Just like leviathans, lavathians are gone for ever once they descend, correct?
i wonder why the dev think it is fun to sail in the fog all the time...
pillars and leviathans are yes gone forever
...something tells me that either the black forest that has the elder shrine I'm sailing off to will be in proximity to a swamp, or the swamp I'll be looking for will be in proximity to a black forest. Either way, I probably shouldn't stress out over bringing metal ingots to establish my swamp base
Glad I waited to hit my first one until I had a couple catapults then
Would suck to waste them by only mining a meager amount of metal off by hand
It’s not all the times, you’re being disingenuous
yeah , it is like 90% of the time
Try again 🙂
guys im having an issue with my valheim on pc gamepass
It’s just one of those things, but I find it more misty near plains but that’s probably just random
everytime i tab into the game its in a black screen if try to play it in fullscreen
I was about to say the same kurli
Ocean also have fog
anyone having this issue also?
if i could stream my seafaring journey to prove my point i would
No one is doubting your ocean is foggy. It is common yea, ocean is also more common to have thunderstorms
People already complain sailing is boring, take the weather away and there’s no point in sailing
I think the main question is what is the point of making the ocean foggy for such a high percentage of the time
i would rather have the scenery to watch than having fog .
Realism? Challenge? Fun? You wanna take away the rough seas too I suppose?
Storms I don't mind because it's high wind and sometimes serpents spawn, but considering that the primary complaint of mistlands is "It's really annoying not being able to see anything" having that be a frequent occurrence is just bleh
that's silly
Just means that rather than actually looking at the majority of the screen I'm just laser focused in on the top right navigating entierly by the minimap or I just slow down
you aren't taking away realism by reducing the amount of fog that comes up; the amount of fog that comes up isn't based on realism, it's based on rng
I only have foggy sailing maybe 30% of the time. I think you're just unlucky with your timing. Pretty sure weather is predetermined and not even dependent on seed, same as the wind
i find the fog/mist to be pretty annoying myself, it's fake difficulty added in to exploration imo
I'm also gonna say that as someone who lives by the water fog isn't that common and I've almost NEVER seen it as thick as it is very often in valheim
And when I did see it that thick was actually way up in the mountains so it wasn't even fog it was just a cloud
Jesus next you’ll be saying the mist is annoying…
it is
I like the mist. It forces you to adapt in ways that aren't 'get bigger stick'
after some time though, personally, i find the mist obscuring my view of literally everything to get pretty dull
the initial challenge is neat
It's a good thing that Mistlands isn't the penultimate biome anymore, then 😛
Mistlands is the penultimate biome now though?
No, it isn't. That'd be Ashlands.
Direct from the devblog: "We also want to remind everyone that Valheim is meant to be a difficult game, and that it’s meant to be more difficult the further you progress – and the Ashlands is the **penultimate** biome of the game.
Deep North isn't released yet
it's penultimate for the game, but it's not done yet.
Correct.
"Does penultimate mean last or second last?
Penultimate means “next to last.” Sometimes it is used erroneously as if it referred to something beyond ultimate, meaning “the very best,” but the prefix pen- means “almost.” Penultimate can seem like a superlative version of ultimate, but it isn't." -Merriam-Webster
But mistlands was never going to be the second to last biome so I don't know why you'd say it isn't the penultimate biome anymore?
The point is that you can now progress beyond Mistlands, so there's a reason not to stay there forever
"Almost last"
Yes, but I don't need to go to the mistlands, all I've got to do is get on a boat and the mistlands comes to me
What are you guys even arguing about? Forget the semantics, his point was that it's not endgame anymore, so it's more of a choice whether or not we want to stay in the mist now
which is absolutely true and awesome (:
Yes but the complaint wasn't about the mists in the mistlands, they're annoying but they do have something you can do to mitigate it
i'm sorry, but it actually was
The complaint is about the fog on the water when you're just trying to go about your 45 minute trip somewhere
it was about two things: fog AND the mist in the mistlands.
obscuring of view with weather effects in general
No, the original complaint was about fog, while afterwards someone said "I also don't like mist" and now the whole topic has derailed into "Well if you don't like the mistlands you don't have to do there" which is meaningless as the original complaint was about the prevalence and thickness of fog while sailing and how it's just not a fun experience because you can't do anything to mitigate it and getting your boat unstuck is a chore
alright kiddo, think what you want, but just drop the topic
Don't know what to tell you, it's been there from the start and was never intended to go away. Mod it out or stop playing the game.
Dying isn't fun either. Do you want that removed from the game?
I can mitigate dying by getting good?
Can you tell me what makes fog a good and entertaining mechanic?
You can mitigate the effect of fog by sailing during better weather or shorter distances.
That's not mitigation that's avoidance
Playing with semantics again.
Fog is and always has been a part of the game, just like a day/night cycle. ANd having water. And structural integrity.
Yes, but again you didn't tell me what makes it a fun/good mechanic, you just said "If you just don't interact with the game while fog is happening you don't have to deal with it"
Because that's how you deal with a lot of things in life?
No, you can choose whether to avoid it or deal with it
Okay, and how do you deal with it?
FFS man, do you expect the sun not to set when you're having a good day? "Night time is not a fun mechanic"
Slow your freakin boat down
Yeah, I think it's overkill if your viking has command over the weathers, especially in a multiplayer server.
Okay, now the time I spend sitting there staring at the screen not actively participating in the core gameloop of valheim has extended 4x as long as it always has
I sail during fog all the time. If you are really that crippled by foggy weather, you probably shouldn't be sailing anyway lol
And I'm not saying that fog should disappear entirely, I'm saying that it could stand to be less common, and have the real thick stuff be way less common than it is
Some people enjoy sailing. If you don't, use portals.
Just because something's annoying doesn't mean that it prevents me from playing the game, it's just a minor frustration, like a doorhinge that creaks really loudly, is it an irritant, yes, does it prevent me from opening the door, no, would I enjoy using the door more if that didn't happen or if it happened with less intensity/frequency, yes
So mod it out?
I feel like you're missing the point deliberately here, yes I have the capability to do that, I don't, because it doesn't bother me that much, however, if someone points out that it's unrealistic that valheim spends about 1/3 of the time under category X fog and that it's especially annoying when sailing I am going to agree with them
You do know that valheim isn't a perfect game and that it is possible to enjoy the game while still wishing that some things were different right?
You're the one making large complaints about the fog and everyone else is just saying 'eh, it happens sometimes. We deal with it', but that wasn't enough for you. So here we are.
it is what it is, i don't think they're going to change it and honestly even though the amount of fog annoys me a bit, that's what comes with the game and it's just something we gotta live with, it's a minor opinion thing, some others may enjoy it, same thing with certain types of combat or weapons in the game, people have their own unique skill and that molds their style/gear that they get
Everyone has things in the game which they think are too challenging. If the mods eliminated all of them, people would complain the game was too easy.
howcome I can't make ||wolf jerky? Just got wolf meat, and have honey & cauldron||
I can't remember. Upgrades?
Anyway, I'd like to ask again if anyone has had issues with random structure pieces showing as near-broken for no discernable reason? Stone pieces, fences, things inside or out. No raids or enemies inside my walls (haven't left the area)
prob right, didnt know there was one
Timeline:
Original complaint: There's lots of fog and it's a bit annoying
Rebuttal: No having class X fog all the time is realistic, you're not experiencing that, I've never seen fog in the game, you're just bad at the game
Me: Fog does happen and it's annoying
You: Just mod it out if you're that bad at the game
hmm i need help , i check for Hildir quest mini boss location before the Ashland update , now i just reached one of the sealed tower location but there is nothing , do i need to visit Hildir again ?
I'm beginning to suspect it might be a crossplay issue (I'm hosting, one player on xbox playing with me), as I've never had the issue in multiplayer before, and it seems they see objects near-broken when those same objects are not damaged at all for me, and vice-versa. I don't recall seeing this as a known issue, but I could have missed it
Could have been introduced with ashlands
My 2 cents: I like the fog. It makes navigating in the boat EXCITING and CHALLENGING! But I can see how some might find it annoying when they are in a hurry to get somewhere. I haven't been through Mistlands yet though, so can't comment about that.
yes, you do
Same with the wind always seeming to blow the opposite direction I want to go...
Excuse you there is no room for nuance in this server, you can either believe that this is the best game in existence with no flaws or you're bad at the game and just want to remove all difficulty and make it a walking simulator
Yes. Go back to Hildir and redo the map markers. That should update things to the current/correct placement. Ashlands shifted some landmass and messed with map pins in the process.
darn , wasted 2 locations...
Technically don't we already have that option?
Yeah, that's true
crickets
I really don't get how fog is a danger during sailing and in solo. It's not like there is an iceberg that will Titanic your longboat instantly, you can just land somewhere quickly and portal home to sleep in a solo game.
If you are saying that it's annoying because of the abysmal discover radius of the map and you need to use your eyes to see new lands worthwhile, then I agree.
in those dvergr mines, will you anger the dvergrs if you mine the petrified bone?
The dverger will get super upset if you hit anything inside of the ward
and if i break the ward with a cart?
Dverger: Must have been the wind
lmao
Fine. I use refined eitr to break dvergr stuff without aggro too.
so once ive broken the ward I can mine the petrified bone without any of them attacking?
i just entered the mistlands so i dont have any yet :/
I'm pretty sure you can go to town on everything once the ward is gone can't you?
They still aggro without the ward
Oh for the boxes etc?
Yep
But not for the petrified bone or is that tagged as owned as well?
Unsure on bone
Either way you can always just lure over some seekers or a gjall and break the dverger so it's fine
Annoyingly, you can't break down your ship near the dwarves or that will aggro them. Even though it's yours and not theirs.
Dverger: Our ship comrade 🇨🇳
i settled in a neighbouring black forest so i should be fine
should i get valheim
What games do you enjoy?
tbh im not enjoying any rn im trying to find a game
alright ill give it a shot now i jus have to find people to play with bc i get bored solo
just return it if you dont like it
I also recommend xcom enemy unknown/within and xcom 2 which I think are currently on special
Minecraft (with mods if you're bored of base game)
Factorio
$10 for 500 hours of fun is a complete bargain for Valheim, imo. I'm glad I picked it up. I'm glad I talked my friends who don't usually game into picking it up. We've been having a blast with it!
Is it perfect? No. Is it good enough to have fun? Yes.
Morgen gjall.
surprisingly I had fun joining people's world and helping out
you need cauldron lvl 3, did you upgrade it yet?
hmm... is ||catapult|| + feather cape intended feature? Just wondering if it would be worth it to try setup more locations for invading the ashland, ones that aren't going to be fixed if it's a bug
Shhhhhhh 🤫
We love it as is 😂
For sure, just hoping it doesn't get changed
I’ve done some pretty nifty island hopping with that thing
Find a mountain, built catapult, launch self at next island 😂
I doubt it will - everybody loved it too much 🥰
I guess that is finally a fast travel option for no portal runs
negative, thanks
how far does it take you
Quite far if you set it up high up. I've seen it able to catapult player to Ashlands from a mountain near the water border of Hshlands
and seems to be faster or about as fast as debugmode sprint flight
I'm planning to use it to invade the Deep north if they even dare to use icebergs around that place. Unless they give us an icebreaker of course.
will mistlands insta kill me if i havent beaten the plains boss
Can't even see what kills you without the item from the plains boss lol.
no, Mistlands is managable in padded armor
i just kept sailing past it anyway now im dodging icebergs
but the devs said they made mistlands too easy now
nvm im doing a u turn
No if you zoom in fully you can see a small area around you
no, but you will have a hard time seeing anything 🙂
uhm i am havign a huge stamina problem
Any tips on how i should take a fortress down?
I just plan to go in with bonemass buff and bow and arrows as well as krom
would recommend taking out as much of the defenses you can from outside first
How to do that
Not sure how effective a bow is, but try taking out ballistas and try to snipe any enemies on top of walls, or even better, those summoner/necromancers if possible
for me sniping with staff of embers got quite a lot done
Thats crazy
Your belt should be full of stamina potions after you reach the plains.
Try not to sprint in combat at all unless you are trying to outrun a mob
just realized I probably should have been making etir potions for a while now
or dodge projectiles
bring mats for a workbench, a hoe and a stack or two of stone.
build terrain pillars to fire down on enemies and spawners inside the fortress (don't need a stonecutter to build and unlike wood don't burn/get destroyed)
Once you've taken out the spawners and at least most of the enemies hop over the wall, mop up the stragglers and dig under the central tower to get your loot.
Then slap a portal down inside and enjoy your new indestructible outpost.
No
bueno. Thx
does staff of wild even give xp???
The initial hit does i think, the roots don't afaik.
Another tip (basically how I clear them) is to make a battering ram -> ram the gates -> pop bonemass and fire res pot -> charge in and destroy the spawners -> run out and take distance -> kill all the mobs that spawned before the buffs run out
I dont have flame metals yet so i havent unlock the ram
Do you know if you can bomb or shoot the spawners from long range?
If you get flametal now, you can make new equipment before entering a fortress
You can destroy them from a distance if you can get a shot in, they are tucked in the corners so it might be challenging but should be possible
as long as you're high enough to shoot over the walls
Good, I'll try slinging staff of embers at it or a trolstaff if I can get it
Do you think if i can use the arrows to shoot the turrents down in the distance?
Ok i tested it works
Omg i got greedy, had a 1star askvin inside a dug trap, and was trying to fit another one in, but the trap is not big enough and it lead to them escaping and me dying
As long as one of them is not dead, you can recover from it. (Unless it's the first time you died in Ashlands and haven't cleared a path)
I can recover but skill levels..
oh wait
my efforts might not be in vain, both of them is somewhat trap in there now
oh nvm
one of them push the other out, and the no star one escaped
Oh found mystlands and set a escape portal. Killed three power seekers. But now a guanyanh is sieging my mini base
Argh
honestly ashlands isnt as hard as mistland if you can get to there and land
Ashlands is all about just being skillful around your enemies, and spawn proofing
Problem ... i have to sail away and try a better landing. I found a rocky beach
I havent fought the boss yet so cant say it with certainty but so far ashlands is ok, and im wearing wolf armour
I hope i can tame a 2 star askvin
am taming a 1 star rn
My first no star askvin, after i finishing taming it, i let it out of the trap for some fresh air, it ran away and got really badly injuried and ultimately killed by a bonemaw serpant 😭
your taming askvin without mistlands gear
💀
Not exactly, i just dont make the mistland armours, cuz it takes resources. I made the krom(doesnt use refine etir) made the spinesnip (was considering fine wood, but was like ok it probably worth it), and have the crossbow which doesnt need refine etir
And i didnt make padded armour cuz was like im going to get ashland armours soon so why bother
I can use wolf armour still no need for expensive upgrades and i dont want to farm iron from swamp
BUt tbf tho i think i can do ashland with full mountains tier gear
how did u make the krom
black forge?
without tear
how do you have that
You dont need moder's tear to make krom
u dont have blackmetal tho cause u dont have artisans table
Just go in mistland infested mine without wisp light
and u cant smelt shit
Krom uses iron and bronze
Doesnt involve black metal at all
Although you have to get some of mistland wood, and black marble
Which for black marble just get them from dvervgers outpost deconstruct them after you break their wards
Wood is the hard part
And mistland wood its possible to obtain with seeker's soilders
The big dvergers door also gives 2
But i got a rare spawn of seeker soilder on one of the small islands of mistland, and i also had a really rare dverager mistland outpost in the middle of the ocean by itself guarded by only two of them
So i kinda got lucky with that, but i eventurally kill moder with krom, and yagluth before i go to ashlands
But realisically i wouldnt consider skipping biomes to mistland unless you have really good rng or find an accessable infested mine
I would probably farm the heck out of mountains with maxed wolf armour, and maxed silver sword + shield, druager fang, and tons of frost arrows, and then skips to ashlands
I think maxed silver sword preformance will be similar to krom
OR crystals battle axe
we can kill modar ourselfes?
wdym?
these forts in ashland are such massive boost to exploration. There's a crap ton of enemies so setting up an outpost would be a massive time sink. Thanks to them it's enough to just take materials for a shield and portals with you... and 2 iron for a stonecutter if you want to setup a stone portal
OH! I didn't realize, but apparently you do not need both portals to be stone for them to work
yep, one way metal porting works 😄
Correct
so much more convenient when don't have to carry around metal for shields and stuff
Btw, does the shield generator prevent spawning in the entire area it covers?
I really feel like fader's forsaken power should be passive or have a longer duration than 5 minutes, the way it is rn is just terrible imo
The powers are not immediately obvious in application are until the next biome. Queens power is useless for non-mages until the flametal spires start sinking.
So unlike any of the other Forsaken powers? Would seem strange at this point to change how they work.
almost all forsakens should be reworked
Moder, Elder and Fader
Or the other ones could be a smaller cooldown
Why?
-Moder sailing only Works for fast travels
-Elder buff could be a passive If nerfed a bit (isnt that useful tho)
- Why you wanna carry +300 for only 5 minutes? Building? Nah. Collecting resources? Nah.
I think they’re fine for their purpose. Only power id want to see reworked (or maybe we just need more lightning enemies) is yag
Yagluth is kinda meh
Bc most creatures do more physical than Elemental Damage, and we got meads for each elemental (except Lightning)
I’d imagine the 300 carry weight is intended for flammetal spired but idk. I always forget it has that stat, the 10% speed is indeed the only relevant part of the power to me
Yea that’s why some lightning enemies would be interesting. Give yag an actual purpose
Ngl i used eikhtyr many times for explore and get items back, Elder in the great Wood grinds before getting a good axe. But when you reach Bonemass you dont have any purpose to trade It for another
Moder doesnt affect the entirely Wind, only sailing
Yagluth got like 10 Enemies doing elemental Damage in game, mostly are easy to Dodge or the Damage can be just ignored
The Queen is actually a good Forsaken Power, 60% to mine is useful in flametal and 100% etr regen is insane for mages
i will start a playtrough in Very Hard, so i will need explore more what Forsakens Powers i will need to use
I think this update has definitely bought opportunity for a few reworks. With the askvin cape having bonus speed in wind maybe the moder ability should give you tailwind constantly?
Playing very hard on solo?
Nah, It would be too easy, since each player gives 30% more hp in multiplayer i will be playing It in duo or trio
From what I’ve seen as well the lightning weapons seem to be a lot better than the other two gem variants
actually root is insane against bosses
💀I agree with playing in coop, so I can get more people suffer with me lmao
Idk if it's too easy tho
Solo kinda boring so I just go for a more easy comfortable, fun clear, with a lot of testing
Something is hard If you cant do that thing
Mainly to just getting used to the enemies and having fun
I don't think that's how it work
How much of a difference does very hard make
like 2x damage
doesnt matter if you're in a group or solo, you get hit in very hard on a boss, you're going to likely die
on-level at least
The way I judge if something is hard is how much effort / time / resources I have to invest to achieve it
i first played on normal, and bonemass was the first hard boss. and it was stupid hard. so you are full of crap lol. and i had maxed out equipment for that stage
with more people, you can get more attacks in on a boss as well since the boss typically attacks one player
elder and the deer boss are stupid easy
🤣me who used 1k wood arrows on it as a bow skill trainer
70% player Damage
200% enemy Damage
120% enemy speed and size
140% enemy Level UP rate
See I used troll armor and poison res with blunt mace and absolutely annihilated boneless which really surprised me after hearing about his difficulty
its funny to think to most of us Bonemass was the easiest Boss ever LOL
Deer will always be easiest boss
I did find moder difficult tho, due to the length of the fight
i had full bronze and bronze mace maxed out and it was impossible. and poison potions. so you are full of shit
well, yeah, it is the first boss after all 😄
That’s not max armor for bonemass tho it’s iron tier
And the fact the terrain makes it hard to fight, along with the many enemies that will join the fight
everyone will have a different experience anyway
Lvl 4 Iron armor + Lvl 4 Iron Mace + Poison Mead = Easier than Elite Draugr 2*
Eikthyr, Elder and Bonemass are tutorial bosses.
The ones after that are just the same kind of bosses, but a lot harder.
Which most likely means that the DN boss not only will be the hardest boss, but also having lots of summons to annoy players.
Queen is the first actual "hard" boss I will face I think
I loved Fader Boss battle, cant expect less to the final boss
Queen is the first boss of the last trio.
I imagine the final boss is the lost child we keep hearing about in the lore
Maybe it turns into a frost giant, or summons them
The other bosses all have some way or another that you can make it very easy for yourself but Queen you actually need to be fully prepared
With queen you can leave the boss chamber tho right to recuperate
there’s a safe spot at entrance?
With every other bosses I face so far I can kill them off in distance with bow and arrows, but Queen seems to be needed to take matters into close quarters
It’s funny how much more lengthy elder is when you fight him from range than up close
I never considered you could just go up and chop him until I played with a friend on our knife run
I remember fighting elder with the club, cuz my bow went out of durability
unless you go mage, elemental magic works great against her
I did a Boss run recently, Bugged Bosses are funny.
Like Full Flametal was getting almost one shooted by Bonemass
I don't think I be playing mage, I don't really like having less hp and stamina
Shield cast?
The Roots of Staff of the Wild Just breaked the game anyway
neither is a problem with shield and not using any stamina for attacking
You can have infinitely more health with a shield
I don't like that play style
I like using dodge rolls
you use dodge rolls as mage...
And parrying feels satisfying
you can parry anything as mage...
it's just not their thing, nothing wrong with that?
How does shield and stagger work with mage
mages are more buttery and casting that shield takes a lot of time, it's not necessarily infinite
A good strat I saw on YT was jump away while casting
Also my biggest with mage, is that I have to re level my skills, make specific food for it and make an entire set of armour for it along with potions
just wish that parrying with shield wasn't punished so harashly, I think the shield takes full damage to it when you parry? that's my only complaint about parrying and shield
the shield still has a base block armor so as long as that can do the job it'll work fine
I like the base
I like the base
I like the buttery biscuit base 🍪
even if you're naked
I am playing solo I don't want to farm so many resources
God the amount of grousten you get in the ashlands is bloody comical
its genuinely my main source of coal at this point
Oh yea I love that, I used to have to go chop trees for coal
If anyone gets what I’m referencing I’m gonna laugh 😂
But high risk higher reward
sounds like a cheesecake ad
the carry capacity is still a problem moving it though 😭
Mages and feather cape for quick escapes is the way to go
Yea I just have to make multiple trips sometimes
Cart?
Also when am I going to get a 2 star asksvin spawn, I got a 1 star one can't wait to grab the 2 star asksvin and start breeding
a lot of the time have to consider "is this parry even worth it?" still felt nice early on to parry those skellies and then proceed to deleting it
Lox?
holy shit I actually forgot about carts its been that long for me
I fought fader, moving all the stuff back to base rn, the ENTIRE arena got erased from existance
moving all the grausten back to base
Same! Man threw a fit over some bells 😂
I fought fader on hardmode as melee and my mage friend, the boss almost permanently has an aoe on him so hitting the mf was so bloody rare it was frustrating
awesome fight though, I died only once somehow
my mage friend died like 30 times though xd
most of the fight was me rebuilding the portal again and again so my friend could teleport back to me
Evidently he didn’t master the art of 🫧
I did notice that fader's fire damage is usually quite low but ocasionally it just SKYROCKETS out of nowhere, which was what killed me that one time and got close to getting me a few times more
Had to solo that bastard and 🫧 was the only thing saving me
That and troll stav + wild stick 😂
I still am unsure how that happens
I think I know why
Master mage: I shall decimate you without taking a scratch
Mage: Pls stop
His spike attack literally turns the floor into lava for a bit
My leveeeeeeeeheheheeeeeeeels!!! 🤣🤣🤣
it was the burn DoT that skyrocketed and got me almost a few times though
anyways time to build a cart because I genuinely forgot those existed after the black forest this playtrough
been using them quite a lot around my base for moving around stuff
made sure my warehouse is large enough for carts to move around in it
we enabled metal teleporting as this was our third playtrough and we were real damn tired of boating around for dozens of hours moving metals
Also, great emergency portal drops
Wanna dump all my loot somewhere temporarily - cart 🔥
we built our entire warehouse out of wooden chests
still unsure if that was a good play or not
Chest monster vibes 🤣
damn cant post pics in this chat
mage friend summons troll on chest monster
Screenshots channel?
