I ams playing right now! 😄
Good for you. Do you want play together?
I'm running a dedicated server with my wife, but if you want a hand with something I'll field offers ;P
they should let us craft some wood sealant protection
Thanks but I just want to play. It is boring to play by myself. Have a good game
WE HAVE A 'SWIPE RIGHT' SITUATION!
I just discovered hildir and I'm wondering about the difficulty of the quests, when should I do them?
post plains
Sure. Give me 15 minutes and I will write in dm
Are they all post plains?
I thought the one in mountains would be mountains tier and Black Forest be that tier
There's one for Black Forest, Mountains and Plains.
If you want to be super safe you can do them after mistlands lol but in my opinion that ruins the fun. They’re balanced for the biome they are in.
can you tell me the difficulty for each dungeon type?
Just a bit more difficult than the standard dungeon in that biome.
The subsequent raids can be tough though.
its called a roof
Is there like a seed scanner tool or anything that can show me the highest point on the map?
or just elevation in general? Would like to find tallest mountain
An iron caulking gun and a sealant made from wolf teeth?
How come it rains every time i set up to build

Not necessarily however there is a valheim seed viewer website made by wd40bomber
Genetic predisposition. Sorry, man. :/
In general the biggest mountain biomes will have the highest terrain
however as far as I’m aware it doesn’t show elevation data
okay thanks. guess i can make a copy of my world and fly around in creative or something
You planning on making a mountain castle?
Im currently traveling my the sea to get to moder and everything started shaking and I even took a little bit of dmg?
weird situation
Earthquake?
is there even an earthquake in the game?
i want to make a sled ramp
I’m not sure I have screen shake turned off
Is anyone here dual wielding the axes?
That sounds cool I hope you post your progress on here somewhere
I’m gonna when I reach the Ashland’s the lightning berserker axes seem op
is it new that all players on the server a written like: aBcD e FgHiJ ?
no Abbbbb Cdddddd
yeah, dual wielding axes sounds awesome
you could make a mountains tower and see how high you can go
time to try if I like 20 kiln strat + tree farm more than running around in swamp between geyser farms
Hey you can like, mount your big catches on the wall, right?
Just by using an item stand or whatever?
Yes, Berserkir Axes the others is kinda trash
Fo' sho'! A level 5 tuna is a monster of a wall mount!
to be fair, it fought really hard
hell yeah, would you happen to know how many fish types there are?
You can check Wiki for this
I much prefer having human interaction while obtaining information 🤗
Perch, Pike, Tetra, and Trollfish, Tuna, Coral Cod, Giant Herring, Grouper, Pufferfish, Angler Fish, Magma Fish, Northern Salmon. 12 Respectively, i dont recommend you to try to get Northern Salmon bc of the upcomming Biome Deep North
i love rotting fish on the wall
Fun fact: they talk very often
anyone know any good light sources you dont have to fuel?
best i found was swamp keys
surtling trophies barely produce light
Mistlands has a new lantern with no fuel cost
Besides that, hanging dverger circlets but that’s expensive.
really need to beat moder with my friend we beat bonemass a real life year ago
and yagluth to get to mistlands
Isnt like the light provided by Wisp torch is good
Or yellow mushrooms on item stands but that’s also not much light
Wisp light and a separate lantern with a yellowish orange glow
Putting dvergr circlets on armor stands or wall mounts is good as well, if expensive.
Flame demon thing trophy makes a nice light on strand
What I've found is that if I've got a place where I don't go to refuel the lights often is that I will put some dim permanent lighting like a Surtling trophy or something in strategic areas so I can see well enough to refuel the actual lighting torches, etc. At least until I get to the Mistlands, and I just build and place the Dvergr lanterns everywhere
Good for lighting up your boar pen since fire freaks them out
Fire doesn't scare them any more once they've been tamed. It used to, but once you tame them they're fine being near fires.
Slow-cooked boar is best boar. 😛
how do i make fine wood
chop it down
oh its just a wood type ?
Yes. It's from Birch and Oak trees. But you need more than a stone/flint axe to chop them down. You can also find it rarely in shipwrecks in the Black Forest shores.
you can mine shipwrecks with a pickaxe if you dont have the right axe
what is the right axe
metal
iron ?
any
Bronze or better
thanks pita
i dont understand why katness doesnt love you back your such a good guy
my friend went afk its Night dark as fuck can i make it day without them being here
devcommands sleep
not my server sadly
then youre out of luck i guess
You can log out and wait a while (night is 9 minutes long), if they're afk they can deal with whatever raids happen while they're there
'PeetaBread' is a pretty good pun, but not quite the same as 'Pitabred'. (Edit: Also, *Katniss).
she'd kill me if i do that
What do I use to destroy ||monument of torment|| ? Sword didn't do anything and it's kinda hectic so I don't wanna try out every single item in game
how is valheim going my fellow players?
You have a friend that would kill you if you log out? Define your boundaries my dude.
Oh no if i intentionally Logged out and got all the "Progress" Get reset xD
Hit it more
Guess I'll try that
how do you defeat the queen on very hard?
hit it until she dies
I had a question earlier today, im currently trying to enter the swamps and get my first bits of iron... But i keep getting killed and it gets scary i have to sail back with no armour, no food... no bronze axe(no fine wood) so i can't build another karve that easily, im always scavenging what little i got and the clock ticks if the ground shakes im OUT FOR GOOD. just so i can get back in the swamps and be killed again, and repeat.
With lots of patience, evading and occasional escaping.
Portals
we don't do that here
considering that I didn't take any damage at all (from enemies, only from blood magic), I don't think I'll have any trouble on very hard if I try that sometimes (queen)
wdym we dont do that here
so what do you prioritize with your first stack of iron?
we have around 30 seekers in the arena
i play immersive mode only. because i force myself
better boat so you can haul more iron back for sure
ouch well then the answer to that is Yes
Mace or shield
also long boat makes sailing more comfy
true i don't have a shield, shield = trolls die easy
Don't need a lot of iron to make a boat
still significant amount if don't have much, but still worth investing
yes i went for a boat and a stonecutter, but i ask around see if other players have a better plan
can i anchor my boat?
What about chickens?
Nope. But it will stop dead if you jump out of the boat.
If you're in a team; let one person distract the Queen, while the rest takes out the seekers.
Bile bombs, Ooze bombs and AoE weapons like the Atgeir or 2-handed hammer are quite good for that.
Mistwalker or Frostner works too. Can even use magic to do that.
The moment you let her spawn too many monsters, you're toast......
As you might have noticed.
shield, mace, boat for sure high up there for first items to get with iron
Hey, does any one know if you can grow vine-berries on both sides of a wood wall? I'm not sure why one side needs more space, if it's not enough dirt or just too close cause the other berries on the other side.
Fire doesn't bother any tamed animals. They will happily immolate themselves on any accessible source, though.
the more i think about it, i just want to get the iron pickaxe. More minig power = more bronze, get backup tools... ect.
how long til the dead ship despawns?
pickaxe would be 4th on my list of items to get, assuming I'm using bronze pickaxe and not antler trash
thanks
What dead ship?
I've never see a dead ship in vanilla.
Chickens don't like fire. They'll huddle away from a fire in their pen. My advice is have one pen for breeding chickens (with no fire), then have another pen to hatch eggs (with a fire).
nvm it took like 30 seconds. just a "Killed" boat doesnt matter version i think
i do have a bronze pickaxe. i trashed antler one as soon as possible, what are your first three iron items then?
You mean one you destroyed yourself?
ye
Antler trash can be repaired by a simple workbench though. Iron pick wasn't a priority for me
and you can just make a portal to repair your nearly 2x better bronze pickaxe and have to repair it far less often
why does my scone not light up even though I have resin in it? does it maybe only light up at night?
yeah i used to think the same way, but really bronze pickaxe is my top priority when i enter bronze age first time. Mining copper with antler is PAINFULL.
^
You mean sconce? A scone is a baked good, goes well with tea.
A sconce will not light if there is an object too close above it
Copper and tin sure I didn't really notice much improvement vs muddy scrap though
I sure love sconce🤤 also, ty
it still helps with scrap too. Maybe not if you're only hitting 1 single piece, but when hitting multiple pieces it for sure helps
Anyone know when we're getting the Maypole item back? My house has been asymmetrical since a lox taming went wrong
yes like i said, im getting killed over and over in the swamps. but what little iron i got earlier today, im loveing my bronze pickaxe # 1 best girl, so i think i will prioritize iron pick next. Then a shield and an axe... Or maybe i should go for the iron helmet first?
the extra durability also makes it worth it, I never have to quit mininig because of low durability, but because I'm at max weight
i really wish they added angled flametal pillars
while bringing the iron outside can take a quick hop through a portal and repair and just go back in
True, i like to take a forge with me into the swamps. and just don't even have to portal nowhere. Start a quick small settlement right in the swamps...
If survivability is the issue better weapons, shield, armor, and food is the fix
average sabaton enjoyer
for sure convenient so don't have to bring back the iron and just craft on site. I usually just go find a really good size swamp and fill a longboat fully with iron on 2nd trip
😎
So maybe i should go for the iron armor first right? then i'll get my pickaxe
root armor would be an option as well
it protects you from all of the biggest dangers
does it? i don't like it. it look ugly
In the swamp using Troll or Root armor would be a better choice over Iron armor, imho.
chest piece to protect from archers, head piece for poison
And no movement speed reduction.
it saves so much time to skip iron armor
Yeah poison resist is very helpful in the swamp
is there a way to avoid making my hammer go away in water trying to make a Harbour
What is the "forest is moving"
the only solution is either using a boat (like karve for easy manouvering) hugging a raised terrain
or if don't mind using console commands, debugmode for flight
my friend's game has been crashing after the new update, has anyone else experienced this?
I wanna build a new base what biome should i do it in
Ashlands
Plains.
That is, if you want it to become a permanent base.
plains for nice music, comfy looking landscape and GOD DAMNED SQUITOS!
Ok plains it is
You forgot to mention the "Can plant all crops up to plains there!" to your list. 😉
oh yea, for sure the best biome for farming
Gm everyone
I wonder what would happen if you tried to summon the trolls with teh roll staff inside teh Queens Lair?
Queen won’t attack the trolls
Currently bugged and this bug was noted on the PTB but never fixed 🙂
But will the Trolls even make it into teh chamber or will they smash on the rocks outside teh Lair?
They make it in
Do the trolls attack her?
Yes
oh btw the bridge finally passed the ship of unusual size test. However, the water is too shallow and scraped the bottom a whole lot... gotta dig deeper and not looking forward to it 😂
Wow.
Yea there’s a spawn limit I don’t know what it is though
Probably not. Better kill everything instead of letting it increase numbers
Nah there is, back when i was fighting 10 queens on very hard, queen spew and queen roar would stop spawning enemies at a certain point
Deathsquitoes are THE mobs in game for retarding progress.
"This Karve is great; let's explore some coastline in order to plan our next move."
"Oh crap! There's a giant bug flying towards me, despite the fact that I'm a reasonable distance from the coast of the Plains biome."
"We can't outrun it in the Karve!"
...
"I really can't be bothered recovering my items from a floating tombstone in the water right now. Let's log out and get some pizza."
But at first, did spawns still happen? Or she never spawn anything?
Don’t really understand your question, seeker cap seemed to be at 4-5 seekers idk and broods I have no clue, also this data isn’t 100% correct it’s just my guess, but I know for a fact there is a limit
should I make two/three large buildings or try and do a smaller village again?(im doing a second base because moder is half the map away from me)
is there a command to pause the day/night cycle
Logging out?
id rather have it daylight out if im in debug mode making massive builds
There is a devcommand to set the time of day, but not sure about pausing the day's progression.
i usually type command "Sleep"
Using "tod .3" will make it dawn.
.5 is noon
0 and 1 are "midnight"
Sleep will pass the day, tod will change the time without changing the day count.
Tod pauses time
thanks for clarifying that for me
now the only annoying thing is that my build hammer always breaks when im doing massive builds XD
everyone sleeps on ooze bombs
they're the easiest way to kill squitos and bats (aside from 2h hammer) they're health is so low they'll die in 1-2 ticks of poison
"I just shoot them with bow, it's easy"- yeah if you see them, but if you're naked and otw to pick up corpse in the plains, bring some ooze bombs for a quick and ez way to kill them. If you hear the buzz just throw a bomb in front of you while you're running, run through the cloud, dodge the squito attack if needed and listen to them explode in your wake
Spawn a lvl 100 hammer xD
I don't think it's too much to ask to add a hammer made of something else than wood
same with hoe and... was it a rake? whatever farming tool
Are they any good in the Swamp where they're unlocked? I'm just getting into the Swamp.
or just add an unbreakable hammer and hoe to spawnable command items
not really, most swamp enemies are immune/resistant to poison
They're S-tier in the mountains, though. Especially the Frost Caves.
Nah, just explore frost caves in root set like me, melee only too. Then you'll feel warmth
I honestly have no idea how I didn't die grinding that fenris set...
ooze bombs DESTROY bats and deathsquitos
and anything that gets stuck or can't get to you
Ooze bombs destroy anything that isn't immune/resistant to poison
The Ulvs and Cultists are also weak to poison, so it's super useful in the tight spaces in the caves. Plus Fuling groups, it softens them up a lot even if it doesn't kill them outright.
Eve mistlands enemies and they're three biomes later. And Mistlands has an improved version
tried against dvergr towers?
I have been wondering that
Aren't there two bombs? Is ooze just a lot better?
ooze is just easier to mass produce
there are bile bombs from ticks in mistlands, maybe a 3rd from ashlands
ooze is the weakest but easiest to make
Ah gotcha, idk why I thought there were two in the Swamp. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
why are the ashlands so impossible? i cannot get off a beach i landed my ship on, ive died 2 twice on the same beach because instantly when i land on the beach i have around 20 enemies behind me and in the next 1.30mins im dead. i have max level mistlands armor and weapons but i dont even have the time to hit an enemy because i will get shot. and i believe that last time i died before exiting the game, my stuff got punched under some rock in the water (the big spiky rocks) by one of the giant flying birds. me and my friend are lost right now, if someone has tips or advice id greatly appreciate it.
Slow and steady. Gotta get there and basically dig down and get a portal up and some kind of extra help to defend yourself
hm today i will tame askvin
(clueless)
panel showing attacking fallen valkyrie
choosing a good landing spot would help for sure, like a beach that is easy to defend
yeah digging down is a good idea but i dont stay alive long enough
get on shore and build a moat
the whole coast is littered with spawners
do you use magic? Haven't tried, but might be possible to destroy some spawners while you're out in the ocean from distance
I was gonna suggest ship-to-shore attacks
my friend uses magic, i use the other armor
I'd suggest have him bombard the beach while you defend him if anything gets too close
good idea actually
if you need to, choose a spike close to shore and set up a portal there until you can land
yeah
and dont go at night
only one problem, we lost our stuff, my stuff is at the bottom of the water or glitched inside something and his is maybe 50m away from the coast
of course
My world isn't ready for Ashlands yet, but we have a Swamp island across the sea from us. There's a small patch of plains at the southern end that we were gonna use for a dock, but it was a Fuling village. We were able to thin their numbers from our Longship before one of their Shaman killed one of us (root armor 😏) and lit our ship on fire.
I used a harpoon to drag a Berserker around for a bit, too 🤣
:D
ill try tomorrow to get me adn my bro's stuff back and get the hell of that beach
D-day ahh beach
Yeah, Valheim's gotta be the Demon's Souls of survival games 🤣
fr
I keep getting crushed on the coast as well. I think we landed near a fortress or whatever camps are in this biome. We set up a portal on one of the spires near the coast which has been super helpful on corpse runs, but still can't get the stuff from the corpse with the "good stuff" lol.
im going to have nightmares
we cant even get a portal up before dying
Can someone thats good at building give me tips
this update made me realise that mistlands is as safe and calm as a picnic day
Legit forgot about this. Might eat a few deaths later to try this out. Thank you!
I'll tell you this: you can hit E on keyboard to cycle through snap points on any given piece. It's extremely useful for doing non-square buildings
Honestly it’s just extremely useful in general and I find myself using it for every build
You can also press Q to cycle the other way
And I expect deep north to make ashlands look like summer vacation
Deep north will be the attack on titan
Deep North is gonna be beautiful. I look forward to the builds
why have many small enemies when you can have a few gigantic enemies that 1 shot you?
My wish for DN is for all of the enemies to be beast-like and much bigger than you
Will the stone golem make a comeback as the small enemy in the Deep North?
Polar bears
oh I'm hoping for some kind of mammoth like enemy
Golem is the toy DN mobs use for fun when they're bored
Okay mammoth trumps polar bears
Oooh, it would be fun taming a mammoth
Moder as a regular trash spawn
Adult Drakes#
Would be nice if we could have a dog sled for our tamed wolves
Im going to go crazy... AAAHHHH
that would be... cool. badum tss
I literally have 2 boats sinked on the same beach.
That's the minimum I am expecting too, having too much fun in the Ashlands
I’ve got a great idea, how about a constant blizzard so you can’t see fuck all and you need to craft a icy wisp light to be able to see 2 metres in front of you
That's my secondary idea: Biome is the main danger, not the enemies. Contrary to ashlands
I already have the same with Seasonality in Winter XD
Ashlands is about warfare
DN is about surviving, exploring with less fighting
The fewer enemies work as compensation for each one to be extremely powerful
I imagine half the fights feeling like fighting a boss
I can go for fewer but bigger/more powerful mobs
Essentially just that
I could see the Deep North having big sections of calm, like a cooldown from Ashlands before the final boss.
Fights not as frequent but compensate with quality. Each one being as if you fought a boss
Polar bears, mammoths (tameable), walrus
And you walk and run 70% slower because theres so much snow
Permafrost debuff
Need snowshoes to walk or run, otherwise you have to jump to get through the snow
No normal animals.
But I imagine bearserkers. Humanoid creatures that can turn into bear-like monsters
And then you have to craft an armor with cold resistance, because the higher you go the worse it becomes
Direwolves
I love what's currently there with the sheets of ice making it difficult to get a boat through
The sheets of ice should have polar bears and further inland arctic foxes
Water randomly freezes over waterways
Direwolwes, Yetis, Polar Bears, killer Penguins, obvious Frost Skeletons... we want them all
I wish for icebreaker ship
Penguins aren't northern animals
Drifting platforms, at the very least
We are not on Earth, so who says that here they are only Southern animals?
And I'm between the biome being surrounded by massive walls of ice and you need to climb them up somehow.
Or icebreaker ship that removes them so you can reach the actual biome
But because that armor is made of wool, it makes you itchy so you need to scratch yourself constantly
Will need a special icebreaker ship
Seconded
I mean the game is based on norse mythology and there’s no mention of penguins
Actually put thay into suggestions not long ago, ice breaker ships.
I think an ice variant of the wraith would be really cool. Fast and blends in with the environment.
Already did
As a bonus, the Icebreaker ship is sentient and will randomly make bad pickup lines
A long time ago
Narwhal in the waters that will pierce any wooden ship
It's been in there a lot. But do we really want two one trick boats in the final two biomes?
Another option would be to upgrade an existing boat with an icebreaker
If only we had an ocean update that allowed us to customize our ships...
What's one trick about the drakkar?
It's almost as if an ocean update before DN made total sense...
I think all ships should have equipment slots for upgrades, personally. I'd like a telescope for expanded exploration. Maybe a stern-mounted harpoon for serpents.
I dont like the new boat, its glitchy, makes my friend's game crash and its really bad in shallow waters
It's a Drakkar in name only XD
All it does is negate the boiling water effect.
It literally has increased inventory in the ship what are you on about
It should've been named Knarr instead
Pfft. Barely.
Idk why they went for drakkar. That's just longship
🤷♂️ still an increase, and i thought we loved being pedantic
And longship is technically a snekkja
Would be nice to upgrade Karve on up to have ceramic-plated hulls (requiring materials from Ashlands), and to have an icebreaker for Deep North using the boss drop from Ashlands to modify the Drakkar and Deep North materials for the others
I love my Snekkja flotilla XD
Noone loves pedantry.
Tbh, it matters little that the new ship is hard to sail, you pretty much only need it once or twice because of the new portal
I like the Karve better sometimes because it can pass through some of the narrow streams easier.
Different boats for different things
Karve is the perfect fishing boat, longship is perfect for general ocean exploration and the new boat gets you to hell
you certainly do, but anyway
I started playing more pve games because i went insane playing pvp games, here i am contemplating my life's decissions after stepping foot in the ashlands
and raft is just raft
What am i supposed to do the new giant vulture, that thing exploded a full castle while i was inside it and then proceeded to glitch me under the water.
Rn I’m delaying the Ashland’s for as long as possible, I’ve decided to take a break from my mistlands character/world to start a new Viking who will be blessed in wielding blades
It seems like many people are finding it difficult so I want to perfect my combat and game knowledge before I take it on
Any tips on how to make a pretty base? Or even just an average looking one
Fair enough
The new boat is cool, and getting to ashlands is an experience itself, but it should be something new in DN. Some other way to navigate through the floating icebergs would be nice.
I want a flying boat for the deep north or a boat that sails through ice
DN shouldn't allow boats, players should jump across ice to get safe onto the beach
The ashlands is just as it looks. Hell.
Lots of tutorials on youtube. You could even look at design tips for other games like The Sims. I tend to make dormers to make my roofs look less plain, even on box builds
Fair enough
Just jumping across sheets of broken ice in the water is boring though.
Add a new serpent that shoots giant ice spikes at you
or killer whale
Or maybe extreme currents so you get dragged down river 🤣
Give me a comically sized whale that eats things and ice
Giant iceberg? Gets swallowed by a whale
Thats sounds nice
Tameable sea creatures, plz
You cant tame the sea!
tell that to cia programs
The sea does not like to be restrained
Yar, she be a fickle mistress,
A ferry by the Dvergrs to transport you into the deep north 😂
DOGSLED
They absolutely killed it with the ashlands boss music.
And you have no control over speed or the fact that they spill their life story the whole time😋
good suggestion
btw, which will be the main Challenge in the Deep North? we already got freezing in mountains and almost all capes ingame are resistant against freeze
I think we should have to break down or climb an ice wall.
Snowshoes/nordic skis
Blizzards that works similar to mist in mistlands but this time it can be avoided with any type of wall
😭
Ooooh you're cooking i think
We can have some sort of extreme cold.
we could have something that lowers your stamina and stamina recharge, and after a while if you are not protected/near a fire, you just stop moving and freeze there
Considering we're going directly from Ashlands to Deepnorth, I expect the Ashlands will unlock something warmth-related. Maybe a fire wisp that provides weather immunity
I imagine something like that, yes, like the Queen unlocked something to protect against the fire
fader relic relationed
Nah, we all will just line our pockets with surtling cores to keep warm.
I feel like Deep North is going to be almost unplayable without killing Fader. I feel like they won’t want people skipping to Deep North early
My bet is that the fader drop will keep us warm in the deep north
Undying Emerald Flame: Use it to create something that will keep you warm as you go into DN.
btw after yagluth got us the Wisp 70% of the mist Challenge is kinda non existent, ye its annoying but isnt hard
Mistlands is borderline unplayable without clearing Yagluth
I like this one, pretty lore-related and with a good-sounding name
That's just not true lol
Not rly. I’ve completed mistlands several times skipping yag. The biome is mostly about sound
Source: Progressed through all of Mistlands without killing yag
so i do not want a warm thing that will just protect 100% against the main challenge
I suppose there are spots where you can see clearly. I rescind my statement. Killing yag does make it easier, though
Deepnorth will likely have an aspect that makes it impassible until you've slain Fader, but once you're there I'm sure there will plenty of other challenges. Even with the Wisplight, you still have some wild terrain and creatures in Mistlands
No mist spots are nice but even in mist it’s not too bad without a wisp light. You can see what’s immediately in front of you for combat, and can hear things coming from far away. And most the important locations stick out or have a wisp light by them by default so easy to identify
I wish Yagluth's power was useful for anything 😦 It's just useless because meads do everything it does but better and for longer.
I liked Mistlands bc of the bugs and insects, different types of enemies never seem before not just Undead or Skeletons
This is my other wish: For DN to be the only biome that is actually hardlocked
I could imagine something like DN having a similar effect to mountain, but harsher and can’t be bypassed by campfires or frost resist
We’ll have to see though
I imagine it’ll be practically hard locked but not entirely so
You literally cannot reach it without killing Fader at the very least
Like I feel like you could prob go to deep north but you would die within a few sec without fader drop
I mean... the Ashlands is practically hardlocked like that.
Or you simply cannot reach it
the last Biome in game must be on the top 3 Biome in terms of gameplay
Nope
Let’s be honest that’s prob not gonna happen
you can reach ash without killing Queen
Yea ash isn’t hard locked at all
Why? Not being able to reach it or being extremely dangerous for tryign to do so early doesn't sound like something devs would NOT do...
But what about enemies there? Ice spirits, wolves, bears, werewolves, giants
It’s soft locked
What if its so cold in Deep North, that makes fire not a thing?,
Top 8th biome (rank is in terms of progression)
edited
I just can’t think of a mechanic that would make sense. Other than devs just being “haha deep north boss put impassable dome around the entire continent you need fader drop to pass through it”
Which I personally think is silly
Giant ice spirit werewolf-bears
Some kind of belt that exudes a fire shield or something, melt through a wall of ice that forms back behind you?
Giant walls of ice surrounding the biome and need icebreaker ship to clear them.
Extremely hard ice that cannot be pickaxed through via any other means that isn't from Fader's drops
only Moder cant be skipped i think
Moder can be skipped, but it's really not recommended lol
this sounds ridiculous ngl
So much unlocked with artisan table.
Like not killing the Boss is harder than killing the Boss
We've done basically everything in the Plains before killing Moder. We just couldn't smelt black metal and make any of the better food
I dunno if skipping Moder is "suicidal", but it definitely makes things harder yea
I know you can get Mistlands weapons without Moder, I imagine Ashlands weapons too. So it's not terrible
You basically skip an entire equipment tier and don't get to use black metal or linen
If I was to describe ashlands in one word it would be “excessive” - feels like a major departure from the rest of the game
Yea it's possible, I guess it's just not what I prefer. I like about Valheim that it allows you to go everywhere but just punishes you for going where you don't belong
The main question I have is skip it for what end? If you're doing a bossless run I get it, but I don't really know why just skip moder. Btw yo can't fight the queen without having beaten Moder.
It also locks a ton of food out if you can't upgrade your cooking station with blackmetal, etc.,
They could just make a biome so difficult entering it early is completely out of the question too...
From black forge yes.
But without magic, mistlands is harder, and in ashlands...
tbh i really liked Ashlands, but i just realized is just more undead, im kinda desolated rm
Tbh on Vhard Hardcore Moder is kinda scary. I could understand someone wanting to skip her, although not many
True, a lot harder. I know some vikings here don't even use Magic to begin with though, I could imagine them going for it.
I like that too, but it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't want to simply softlock what's arguably the most important biome in the game
The only reason I can think of is if you can't find the Moder spawner and get impatient. Mountains are annoying to navigate sometimes.
did you guys used Magic to progress trough Mistlands? i think its just a late game thing, like after the Queen
I used it to kill the Queen, not just afterwards
But it does take a pretty robust production pipeline and exploration
That works too. Ashlands is softlocked like that. It's very hard to enter, but not impossible
It's also noticeably harder to establish a base without the shield generator, especially if for whatever reason you decide to use wood
Yes I did. Considering not using it in the future though, it does make the game kinda boring
Ember staff at least. Ice staff is a lil more fun
I used it once, found it boring so I just stuck to my melee weapons.
after i upgraded all my mist weapons to lvl 3 i was just bored to grind more etr
Is the shield generator really that needed?
Earliest staves are mistlands-tier
I thought shield generator was mainly just for infrequent meteors that did meh damage, but haven't really been in Ashlands and basebuilding a lot
A little, but it also has a large spawn prevention range.
But the cinder projectiles can be annoying
You need the Moder drop as much as the Queen drop to get to Ashlands
Yea but you hardly need either
If you were going for non-mage, definitely
Although sealbreaker is crafted at galdr table
My first try sailing to Ashlands in a longship with no preparation, no repairing underway, no abandoning the ship, no using shield to negate water damage, etc. I made it all the way to the coast
Unless your portal is inside a stone building, it will become charcoal
So put it in a stone building
Until you get stone portal
Prob cheaper than a shield gen
Molten cores aren't that hard to gather, and you only need two, ideally four
Shield gen isn't that bad
Nor is a little stone shack or stone portal
I tend to like redundancy so I use both
Especially helps when mobs are shooting projectiles at you
know cool mods about tamming?
And marksmen and twitcher love doing that
Does artisan table's spawn prevention radius matches its build radius (40m)?
Should I skip iron armor and just craft root armor? I know I'll need a ton of armor down the road.
someone in #mods-discussion might 🙂
Question: is fishing viable in ashlands? I want to make a fishing nexus, but need to know how many portals to accommodate
Do you guys rock ashalnds with flametal helm/ greaves and trusty root harnask? Or is there a better combo?
fenris hat/leggings + root harnesk
I'm doing the whole Askvin set with Ashen cape
Full flametal set and asksvin cloak, working like a charm
why cant you burn core wood in a fire?
hi im looking for a server to join i wanna start fresh havent polayed ina while
Presumably to stop you wasting valuable resources.
But you can burn fine wood?
you can put both in a kiln if you have too much of it, and you even get coal out of it 😄
Don't think I've ever put finewood in a campfire or hearth
I've accidentally burned tons of finewood
I just started planting birch trees everywhere lol
And pine. Was interesting seeing my empty meadows become a pine forest
Probably an oversight. There are those in the game, especially in the earlier biomes
Or could be another (expensive) use for finewood
This is why Thor gave us the Obliterator
Anyone have a full trophy list for the ash?
I might do, let me check
Has anyone used the new Fire setting to gain an advantage against bosses?
I might have to use flame arrows more if I can set the ground on fire next to enemies.
I am missing 1 and the boss
So how many do you have
As far as I know mini boss doesn’t drop one. At least didn’t for me
is there a wiki that people use that isnt absolute garbage
What wiki is garbage?
fandom
no I mean Ashlands mages in the fortresses not the dvergr mages
like i want a resource that lets me pick a crafting material then it has a link to everything i can craft with that item
like serpent scale for example, i go to the fandom wiki page and it doesnt tell me a single thing i can build with it
Guess you didn't use the search funtion?
And as a matter of fact, it does show what can be crafted with it.
Just need to scroll down a bit.
It’s right on the page if you scroll a few lines
im regarded, i was on the serpent wiki page D:
Did the same thing about "fine wood."
Search gave me 300!! entries.
I picked "fine wood, scrolled down at the page and every item fine wood is used in showed up.
Are the ashlands weapons worth making damage-wise? Like better than Mistwalker?
is there anything special about the serpent shield?
it looks cool
but tower shields are just for defence, no parry bonus
has 50% pierce resist, which is very handy in a lot of the biomes
The Serpent scale shield is the fourth tower shield. It has the same block armor compared to silver shield but provides pierce resistance when blocking and not being able to parry enemy attacks. It requires less iron to craft compared to iron tower shield while also having more block power, less movement speed reduction and dodge roll cost increase.
Its looks are better as its usefullness.....
Tower shields are very useful for saving on stamina
Tower shields are great for 2-3 health foods, and bucklers are good for 2-3 stamina foods because of their stamina usage
Pierce resistance is huge. That + heavy armor and seekers would become deathsquitos while deathsquitos become mosquitos
you cant use serpent meat on iron cooking station?
It's the only spot you can use it on.
Have you put that cooking station over a hearth?
wiki says its the only thing i can cook serpent meat on, but then i make it and it says i cant do it
Does it say it requires a fire when you try?
no it just said i couldnt do it, the hearth worked though
i just want to make serpent stew and killing the serpent definitely just isnt enough, now i need silver D:
What do you need the silver for? You can make serpent stew without it.
You don't need silver for the hearth
Just stone and iron
(for hearth + ||iron cooking station||)
Get turnips from a swamp
They’re quite rare but useful in many other recipes and can be easily farmed once found, like carrots
Ohhhh stew, yeah you still shouldn't need silver
ive got 3 turnip seeds actually
Turnips can be used to craft an improvement for the cauldron
Butchers table requires 2 silver
To do the stew you need just a single upgrade to the cauldron, so even the spice rack is enough
you don't need any other upgrade
And in addition to that:
A spice rack is a lot easier to build as a butcher's table as you should have most of the ingredients by now.
You may need turnips, but since you got the seeds, better plant those, as well as carrots (if you got those).
spice rack MVP of cooking
building in water is a pain in the arse
are you using the alternate snapping with Q/E on keyboard?
ye
not perfect but much better than it used to be at least
i could barely get a snap point before those 😅
Man adding fire weakness to the feather cape without warning is F-ed up. It took me so many deaths to figure out that was the 'problem'
At least it now has increased jump height
In the first beta they added a fire weakness and removed the cold resist it had 😉 At least they added the cold resist back.
I've been dying left right and center to the new fire dmg thingies thinking they were just insanely powerful
Yeah I saw on Reddit indeed, that's even more insane
but I love the feather cape since I'm clumsy, so now I have to choose between dying from fire or dying from falling
The other good news is that resistances override weaknesses, so a fire resist barleywine will set you right as rain
there were a few grumbles... 😅
Yay, yet another thing to fill my inventory so I have to portal my loot back every 3 slain enemies 😬
Marie Kondo it. Go lighter on what you bring with, you don't always need all the weapons, you don't need to bring food with if you've got a portal, etc.
If I don't bring my food I will definitely run out mid battle at some point since I will forget 😅
That's when my kids tell me I have a skill issue...
don't make me put away my cultivator you swines
There's no need to bring 10 stacks of each food if you got a portal with you.
Three of each food works too and actually saves the weight of two full stacks.
That. It also means you can eat or even just drop one and free up a slot and not be too bothered with wasting anything.
And considering the time it takes to run out, that's about an hour of exploring.
I'm having zero luck finding sea serpents omg
If you really need to, eat food out of a chest
something something manage inventory daaark siiiiiyyyyydeeee
go out in stormy nights
I have a few times xD the game is just hating me rn
Sail long distances in the ocean at night or storms. They have a cooldown so if they don't spawn in an area they won't for like another 20 minutes or so. Longer voyages are the way around that.
also, those serpents dont despawn during the day ( the ones that spawn during a storm)
wellp
They would be right, I am not a skilled gamer 😅
I've heard they spawn at the ocean floor so sailing at top speed isn't advised in case you miss one?
Or install Sea of Noodles mod, then you will start to regret having installed it 😄
just set sail with the aim to reach anywhere with clear weather....
And don't forget to bring your Abyssmal Harpoon....
Hello
what's next for valheim
the last biome is deepnorth, as for what will come directly after this? dont know
Anyone have any ideas as to why my PC stopped loading Valheim? It gets to the character select screen.. to the world.. I click play.. all is well.. and then as it loads the world… it just doesn’t finish loading and eventually times out/shuts down
You need to wait, and don't touch the mouse or keyboard or anything. When it's generating the new content from the update it can take a while and it won't give you any feedback. It can take up to 5 minutes or even more.
Once that step is done it'll load quickly like it used to, it's just that the update/conversion of old worlds to the latest patch takes time.
I’ve waited.. it eventually goes to the light-grey screen of death saying it stopped responding
Ignore that, keep waiting.
@feral parrot there was a drivers update for NVIDIA, my fiance was having the same issue. He updated his drivers and the issue stopped
If it says it stopped responding that's because you touched the mouse or keyboard. Seriously... just wait. Even if it says that, don't close out the dialog. If you don't have an SSD or a very fast and new PC it can take a lot longer than you might be comfortable with, but it's still working.
My PC is brand new 😀 I’ll just let it load and go take a poo or something when I get home. Thanks y’all
anyone know what the building advantage to ashwood is?
I think its just a different kind of wood
New appearance. I don't believe it adds any new features or performance.
damn. i was hoping for some water resistant flooring
Also can recommend eating salsa while playing ashlands
You’ll want luxury vinyl plank.
Anything inside the shield bubble doesn't take rain damage 😉 So at least there's that.
Anyone else annoyed at mobs spawn in Ashlands? Super ridiculous can’t even chop down a damn tree without 30 things coming to attack.
oh that's nice. i may do that
The spawn rate decreases after the initial wave, also watch out for spawners nearby
I’ve taken all the spawners out, but it’s nutso
Yeah I clear an area on my way to somewhere, clear it on my way back then 10 minutes later I gotta do it all again XD
At least you get your training in kekles
Yup, it's intense! Harvesting resources does seem to draw more aggro than just running around
Ballistas just pleasantly killing the fuling mini boss raid for me while I barely do anything
Ballistae ♥️
Ballistas saved me from G'jall since i entered Mistlands
Attempt to build more against Fullings and Charreds
Does anybody know of a working HDValhiem mod that is not abandoned lol
That is more a question for : https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
Ah thanks. I didn't see that channel. It's waaaaaaaay far down there
Yep it's like copper ore, waaay down.
3 Morgens (1 one-star) after me. Guess I'll just die
any fast way to make a Ditch ?
I'm in a tower rn. safe for now, but i don't see myself getting out of here lmao. still in mistland tank gear
I'd share a pic but I can't send images here
Morgan's don't have stars
well I'm seeing one right now so...
apparently I can't send it in this channel
Can you send in the Valheim Screenshots channel
oh it's down there lmao sorry
don't worry. you'll soon have a valk, 10 charred, 3 askvin and several vultures after you to put you out of your misery
I was just playing on server. made a new profile to update mods and now i get "Unable to locate valheim dedicated server installation directory
will the queen spawn more seekers if 2 are already alive
She will continue spawning them for quite some time.
Better remove those, before you got overwhelmed.
has anyone breached ashlands on very hard yet? whats it like/howd you do it
is there any better upgrades for the Hoe ? that can flatten bigger areas ?
no
We most definitely had a 1star Morgen in a Putrid Hole earlier
have any of you guys gotten the flaming sword?
Anyone else noticing some iron scrap metal surfacing from inside the Sunken Crypts to the surface in the swamps around the dungeon?
That happended to me around where we used to have the ashlands portal.
there was floating copper, muck piles, rocks.
Pretty certain the internal dungeon layouts are actually very high in the sky, well above where a player would ever be able to reach. So if an item clips through the ground/walls/etc. in a dungeon it falls down and lands on the surface in the biome. Same can happen with tetra from frost caves, I found some randomly on a mountain when running around and found the cave they came from.
Appreciate the information. I wasn't sure if this was normal because it has never been the case before the Ashlands update.
That's been the case since day one.
Can anyone tell me if smashing a two handed hammer like Stagbreaker on the ground in he mountain can still discover silver?
Lol, well never in any private/solo game nor on any 24/7 dedicated server I have been has this happened.
It is fairly uncommon/rare for things to clip through. I imagine it takes some very specific circumstances and factors to occur.
how would that come into play? Like an unique sound effect?
In the past, you would see "too hard" or something appear.
I didnt know if that still occurred as the few mountains ive been exploring I havent encountered it.
Still works.
ahh, that makes sense. Maybe, but I haven't tried that method. I use the wishbone for my silver finding methods.
Pretty certain smiffe has stated the exploit was patched out.
@shy marlin
They do in putrid holes.
And ashlands wiki is still outdated
If only somone had the ability to edit it.
I'm your guy I guess lol, easier on mage, harder on melee, if you're looking for advice, I'd say first go on mage and figure out what ashlands is like on mage, adjust to it and then if you want to go melee be ready for another learning curve and once you get over that it's smooth sailing.
Biggest thing i can yap about is awareness, if you can snipe things with an arbalest or bow and maintain the hoards that way, you'll be good.
Ive already breached and have set up on my normal melee playthrough, but im doing a very hard playthrough where i plan to main mage once i unlock it, no shot am i doing literally everything 1 shots you mode as melee lmao
If you're playing on normal i'd 100% practice eliminating everything as fast as possible in prep for very hard. Getting rids of things asap and dpsing them down like nothing else is the key to success
based off of my melee experience, if i can just set up a safe (ish) outpost i think i can slowly pick things off and set up campfires for a safe starting zone, im more so worried if mobs will be able to destroy my boat giga fast on very hard before i set up a portal on the rocks
That's a weird response to the question.
I didn't have an issue with mobs destroying my boat/creating a settlement. if you can beach at a place with one of those large outposts/citadels with lots of vineberries in them, do it. I've done multiple ashlands playthroughs and those are 100% the spots to look for, if you beach at any old location you're asking for an insane welcoming committee
Definitely...
Someone should definitely do it...
Anyway, I'm sure some uncalled hero will edit it
I dunno, I've never even seen one.
Can I get a yes or no. I'm trying to avoid spoilers for Ashlands and I just need to know if I'm wasting my time.
Did Ashland get a new Fist/Unarmed Weapon?
No
best weapon to use vs yagluth? is it the procupine/blackmetal sword or do i use frostner/silver sword instead?
Silver sword > frostner > black metal sword
Morgens absolutely have stars. I speak from having fought one
I would not recommend engaging one without bonemass
is anyone playing ashlands on hard?
Is there a 2 star
because this really isnt possible... im not sure how im reasonably expected to manage 2 star charred warriors, voltures, morgen, lava blob, and marksmen all at once....
What's your setup/build?
right now im doing mage build, 2 pieces of embla and eitr weave robe. i have my frost staff, staff of fracturing, and protection and will try to get my 3 skeles up with a shield. but honestly, the mob density is so high it doesnt really matter and is just a matter of time before something hits me
is there any setting to fix the incredibly poor performance in the ashlands?
What's your food situation looking like? Also what cape are you using
using the feather cape atm, though i just made the asksvin cloak. should i be using that? i have a salad stuffed mushroom and seeker aspic for food. havent really been able to forage too much in the ashlands.
Hmm. Asksvin cape is very good on mages. Do you know about bubble gliding/jumping?
no, whats that? ill go put the cape on and try it out. it really just seems so dependent on if i get a bunch of mobs spawning at once or not
It's easier to just show ya give me a min
so just a jump cast? this to prevent you from getting rekt while casting it ?
But from what I'm hearing you're struggling to kill things fast. I'd recommend strengthing your Ashlands abilities on normal before going to hard. One thing on mages is I'd def pair up with the atgeir, and go from atgeir stagger with special into frost staff dps.
Ye when you're bubble pops always use stamina as a defensive resource and get away from the situation
thats what ive been doing but with mob density its tough
If you're not already, i'd also bring minor eitr meads/lingering eitr when you can and lingering stamina meads
I'd also add a crossbow/bow and start sniping things to lower the hoard number
If you can proactively get rid of say 2 archers before approaching a group it makes the encounter that much easier
I managed to full on mage with skeletons and bubble and used mostly staff of the wild for dps
yeah have the arbalest going... it honestly doesnt seem to matter theres so much stuff. like im not kidding i step out of my base and there are 2 lava blobs, a morgen, 2 star warrior, 2 marksmen, volture, and 1 star and normal twitcher
like, thats just an insane amount of mobs that will all 1-2 hit you
🤷♂️ I dunno what to say, I went deathless blind on very hard. The only thing I can really say is go on normal, get to a point where you can absolutely curb stomp normal, and then give hard another shot.
yeah normal is pretty easy but maybe itll be better for ashlands
Your strategies and theory are good, it just seems the execution/awareness isn't quite there yet (and I say that with all of the love in the world, no flame)
im baiting the lava blobs to detonate on the other mobs but theres like not much in the way of dropping that much hp before i run out of something
Ashlands is certainly a different Valheim experience, so while normal meadows-mistlands may be easier for you, ashlands can be completely different.
Ye lava blob exploding is very good too
yeah that much is obvious
alright, well ill turn it down to normal for a little so i dont die as soon as i step out of my portal
will give bubble gliding a shot
If you want to be really cozy with bubble gliding run feather cape. Once you get more familiar with the process and the awareness part of ashlands i'd swap over to asksvin cape
I do not believe there are 2 star morgens or askvins yet. I want there to be a 2 star askvin so I can tame it.
there are 2 stars i fought them few times
Of both?
indeed
I have an army of star askvins but now I need to make that army 2 stars
yea they are some what rare to find but should go pretty fast to find one, go at night 😛
I caught my 1 star at night. Probably need to go to a hotter ashlands
I found a million 1 star ones ^^ quite common
Ashlands out?
Having trouble finding a Howling Cavern. I've visited two markers and found nothing. I'm getting very frustrated. Plz help
find hildir and read her map
What do you think the best Ashlands gem and weapon combos are?
Lighting infusions seem to be the best, nature has a niche, blood is just useless lol
We have our main base built around Hildir. I'm at the marked ? location and can't find anything. The other marker had normal frost caves
"trolstav" and "staff of wild" hands down easy
Is the marker directly at the entrance, or...?
Dang blood is useless? That's disappointing I thought it looked the coolest
It's a cool idea but lightning just kinda outclasses it, and you have to do pretty obscure scenarios/setup for blood to be better than lightning
And while running 3x hp food (set up for blood to be more effective than lightning) you have to lose so much stamina it's hardly worth it, especially on the harder difficulties. Currently theorycrafting a blood infusion/mage build but it's still not lookin too hot.
I've spent hours just trying to find this thing.
Could anyone provide a picture in the screenshot channel of a 2star Morgen?
Do you think like Nidhogg with Lightning is better than Mistwalker?
Idk i don't really engage with swords that much anymore, someone else would be better fit to answer that question, i'm more of an atgeir/bow/2h axes guy
I'd imagine they're actually pretty similar because of the slow effect of frost on mistwalker though
Would also depend on the enemy too, say like fighting a morgen you'd obv want the lightning nidhogg because morgens are weak to lightning.
dang wait the lightning nidhogg loses its crossguard.. i think that looks terrible D; the blood one is so cool looking
Lightning nidhogg does more damage and the lightning proc chains for some AoE dps, but Mistwalkers frost damage makes killing a little safer. Which one you go for is mostly a matter of taste.
Also l4 Mistwalker has MUCH higher durability
Question for everyone, we have a server but we started it with effectively double mod health, increased damage and spawn and double the loot. It’s fine we’ve all been managing but for anyone that’s played hard mode is there something I can focus on to not be worked by everything?
how far are you? i managed until i got to ashlands and was overwhelmed. you really just have to make sure you're prepared and manage your stamina/resources well. id also recommend taking time to grind skill levels up a bit. helps more than youd think
Currently chugging through the swamp
One thing I could say is learn how powerful WASD is, and how effective it is at avoiding damage. A simple s key can save you from 60 damage. Also learn how effective short bursts of stamina can be in situations. Learning how to use stamina as a defensive resource is a great tool to have in your arsenal.
Thanks man, yeah i never played Valheim like dark souls but i suppose i can try 😂

if i break the cartography table, will it lose the data from other people? Or is it saved
break and replace somewhere else*
yeah, my strat is walking then rolling or sprinting as they enemy procs their attack
i got pretty good at dodges, very useful
dodge roll is super useful especially on harder difficulties and light armour and lower hp (to block or parry you need to be above certain values) , dodging always works if done correctly
yeah i find not getting touched by any attack is the best strat for hard. one stagger and you're usually done
I've had a lot of difficulty with lava. The way it just instantly kills you if you step on a patch of slightly-redder ground, it feels really unfair and unrewarding from a gameplay standpoint.
You're just dead. And if you lose your body in the lava it's very difficult to get back, especially if there's respawns.
Can't react to it, can't mitigate it, you're just gone
I don't like the idea of using askvin to cross them either - if you die on the other side, you're just kinda boned. If you have no way to make another saddle, and no way to get flametal, your game is kinda just over
It's a little frustrating, and not rewarding. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the expansion so far, but it has some frustrating elements that feel deeply unfair.
Yeah I get that. I really like using the basalt bombs to cross it. I think it's unique and fun. I do however think having the lava shoot up and target you mid air, is a bit excessive as if it's not difficult enough.
The basalt platforms are frustrating, too. I expected it would just freeze the lava surface, but these bobbing-up-and-down platforms are super slippy and difficult to jump onto.
I'm trying to build my first little stone house & I can't decide if a stone cube would look worse or if having a wood roof would.
The jump aspect of it, especially on servers with the slightest bit of lag - pow, death.
I lvoe the lavaithan idea, but the platforms are SUPER janky
Man I just tacked into the wind twice and had it swing to be directly in my face
Wow, I haven't even managed to move more than a few metres since landing here and mobs just come wave after wave after wave..
Ashlands?
what r u aware of the differences between the current release version of the Fader and the original PTB version?
Yeah Ashlands
me too
There's these glowing red runestone looking things with balls around them, they're enemy spawners, you can take them out from long range
None - he hasn’t been changed much
Yeah I've taken out 2, and there's no more around but the number of mobs is crazy lol
The first time we entered the Ashlands, the portal was destroyed, and we had to make a new ship to get there.
endless mobs, and too many of them
Once you've established a beachhead and gotten used to the attack patterns of the mobs it gets a lot more manageable
Still dangerous though if only because of the insane damage numbers some of those mobs have
the shape of the fire ring was changed, but I'm not sure what else has changed
I haven’t noticed any ring of fire changes
Shape of the fire is determined by your movement
nop
You sure? Gonna have to test that out tomorrow then..
the first PTB version is "の". the current version is "C"
Nah I’ve never observed either of those shapes
Well the c yes but no to the first one (c was in ptb btw too)
Think your testing has multiple variables in it ngl
there r 2 shape in btw
Ashlands mob count is high - just don’t go out at night
The mobs spawns are relatively more manageable if you keep things to daytime spawns only.
Even then you have to be careful cause the mobs like to spawn in droves when you first visit an area
but only "C" left in release version
What is this attack of which we speak?
Nah man I don’t think that’s correct at all
I think you just have multiple variables in your testing, because before I killed 5 simultaneous faders on very hard I tested each individual mechanic and learned how they worked exactly and never once did I see the shape you described.
But I’ll test some more tomorrow.
When did you play PTB? According to the patch logs, the Fader was only changed in the second PTB update.
I know he has a meteor attack, spikes, fire breath, tail swipe, paw swipe, and that circle thing he uses to try and entrap you.
But from what I’ve seen in my test fight it was just that - a ⭕️
And obviously that summon attack but I’m not counting that 😂
If you move while he does the enclosing flame he’ll adjust the flame to try and still enclose you, but if you move enough the flame won’t have enough duration to enclose you. It’s actually smarter to just lay still and cover as little area in flame while he’s doing that attack and then just jump over the circle.
But yea imma test tomorrow you got me curious lol
if you look closely, the ring has a gap in it.
is there a structure that lets out smoke but doesnt let in rain?
I never stayed in that ring long enough to find a hole in it 😂
Just jumped over the edge
I’ll take a look for it next time I give him a spanking 😉
r u aware of any other change?
Well he still doesn’t attack summoned trolls 😬
I do roof tiles and poles at the corner to hold them up so there is more of a gap between the roof and the structure. need lots of venting space especially if you're venting a hot tub and a hearth from the same chimney (there is no 2x2 or 1x1 tile that lets smoke through but not rain except for roofs, and just roof tiles without additiona chimney gap underneath might not be enough in a lot of cases)
also if you enclose the side of the roof it will not led smoke out, needs a gap somewhere
thats what i had for a while, i took off the roof so the smoke would flow out nicer but totaly forgot that rain could put out the fire i had directly bellow
ig ill just setlle for functionality over looks
you can get quite creative with chimneys though, I did a great one for my hearth and hot tub combo vent
I tested it. if the player stands still, the fire forms a "O". The trace is based on your movement, so the final shape turns out differently.
also if your space is big enough and high enough it will disperse smoke without a chimney fully closed, but has to be quite big for that
alr good to know when i make the hearth
chimneys are also good to break up the boxy look some people accidentally build ^^
always
Ah so exactly what I was saying 💀
It draws a 360 degree arc centered around the player. If you move, the shape of the arc won't be a circle.
Is the new Grausten stuff more durable to attacks from Ashlands mobs than Black Marble?
I wonder if its possible to use the harpoon launch to fly over to ashlands
Yes exactly 💀
do draugr just respawn infinitely inside the dungeons?
will some valheim mods work even if not updated to ashlands? I am on the thunder mod store in the ashland updated mod section, and there are mods there that got last updated a couple months ago...
Better to ask in #mods-discussion
yes. until you kill the pile on the floor
is it safe enough to start building base at the border of plains while in mountain gear? I want to start building it earlier than after killing Moder so I can just add stuff later
Someone sponsor me a valheim game .I like to play it but I don't have cash.😔
Those spawners (body pile) can be found in the sunken crypts and in the swamps.
Good for some sausage farming and weapons training.
There are also greydwarf spawners in the black forest and skeleton spawners in the burial chambers.
Anyone is willing to play valheim with me
Interesting 🤩
Check #1024264966712340510 ❤️
I need inspiration
can you dual wield axes?
in ashlands. there is a dual axe weapon
i see
yeah thanks
This is like an evolved rickroll
my gear is in the middle of a lava river. How can i get my stuff back??

is that good?
does the greydwarf shaman turns now while it shoots its poison attack and is almost impossible to dodge?
if i remember correctly, it wasn't like that, was it?
my playthrough is currently in this state - the next step I'm trying is to get black marble, yggdrasil wood, cores, but that feels like a bit of a step up in difficulty
also I skipped the bronze pickaxe and went straight to iron
and did wolf cape instead of lox
yggdrasil wood???? damn i did not know you could get wood from the great tree itself
it's in ||Mistlands||
oh ya i thought so
you need a ||blackmetal axe|| to harvest it ordinarily, but supposedly you can use enemies that will one shot you as a creative/advanced harvest technique
ah i see, im really excited to get into ||mistlands||, hopefully its not too bad there as a lot of people say
You can indeed use an enemy to break the trees, just like you can use trolls to mine copper, tin and finewood for you before you are able to.
You can also cut down a tree nearby and bump it into the one you want to cut down, might need multiple trees and lots of time but it is doable.
yes, but problem is staying alive...
so.. no room for error
Dodge rolling for the win and having a bed or portal nearby.
I have to admit that I never learned to roll, maybe I should
Dodge rolling and parrying are lifesavers.
We've been playing on a 24/7 server with 10 vikings since friday and its been a blast with that many ppl even though ive played through this game a few times before
I'm considering skipping silver to be honest
And lox cape is great because it's just as good as a wolf cape but you get it for free when a lox walks into some growths assuming you can dodge them and get them fighting
I mean, how would you get the cape without the silver?
Mountain is best tier/biome imo but its the plains that kinda breaks it because you can just go to plains
It's like 2 lox hide for a frost resist cape at workbench level 2
6 lox hide
also Draugr fang
Considering skipping and going straight to arbalest
See I disagree completely because for me iron was the filler. I did not acquire anywhere near as much iron and frankly I skipped the iron tier of armor and just used troll armor and iron mace against bonemass
So it's
Eikthyr (Done)
Copper Pickaxe (Done)
Iron (Done)
Black Forge?
But every playthrough will be unique
Black forge is mistlands you will need a black metal pickaxe
What for though?
Black marble
technically no, but would be easier with
Seeker soldier to break the heads
You can get black marble before black metal??
Seeker soldiers break black marble structures
yes, using seekers to mine
Yggdrasil wood I think the same?
Damn
so I'm about to try this, but I think if you get hit once, you'll get one shotted
Yes
But that's okay because I won't have any stats because it'll be so early, the idea here is to minimise time investment to maxing
Black metal tier is so funky lol with how the axe and pickaxe are split across two biomes
I think I want the plains for needles
I am wondering if I should get the Fenris leggings before having a go
All the mobility will help
Fenris armour big farming
yeah, I'm not going to get the whole set, just like, 1 piece
Still need to go to the mountains
Ah well im kinda bad at the game so jsjsjjsjs
I got some silver already, but I probably need to go back to the mountains for onion
Ohj damn yeah need the onions
the biggest annoyance is that without Moder, I don't think I do salad even though I can get all the components for it
I forgot to bring any arrows so I'm currently hunting deathsquitos with trollhide armour and a flint spear
Silver sword is the best weapon to use against yagluth at plains tier, Frostner is Very Fun, and we need silver for Himmin Afl
Well, I can confirm that I will instantly die to the skeeters
root chest piece will fix that
Haven't seen an abomination yet
I found a fuling berserker to be a great way to fight an abomination
That would require an abomination to spawn
just hang around in swamp a lot at night and collect the chains too
With his troll armor and flint spear??
although he’s in plains with that so I’m sure he’ll handle it just fine but man that’s impressive
Well, I died in the plains so it's not that impressive
The balls is impressive
Most people wouldn’t even try it yet alone fail or succeed, the more you try it the better you’ll get at it
why not?
see my screenshot from earlier with a flint spear
In #screenshots ?
that's level 1 troll hood, troll leggings, level 1 root chest piece, level 1 wolf cape, level 1 flint spear and level 4 finewood bow
You absolute masochist
Can the seeker soldiers destroy the armor and swords for iron and copper scraps?
Yes
i think the armor and swords pieces do not fall when floating
I think it'd be a massive pain to sail back with iron and copper scrap though
no, they don't
Prioritise iron and getting a longship if you haven’t already
They do.
Works similar as the copper and silver veins.
it’s only what 10 iron for longship ?
really? have I gotten really unlucky?
Could be.
I've been <poof>ing them quite often.
I don't know whether I'm going to manage, but I really want to bring an arbalest to the fight when my group is ready to fight the elder.
Lowkey flex
I think I will die a lot trying to do it though
i mined some for Building like 3 or 4 and they dont poofed
Something must have been attached still
I had that happen but did manage to poof a sword but not the armor piece
They've got janky as hell hitboxes
Armor can be more complicated because it's larger.
But it's still possible if you're able to do a jump-hit.
Okay so the console doesn’t want to appear
Is it because I’m in full screen?
I’m trying to get creative mode to test out build pieces but f5 does nothing pop up the console
I’ve been pressing f6 this entire time 🤦♂️
traveled quarter of the map just to ALMOST meet my demise, lovely
grausten is good for when you need a secret research bunker in the mountains
man, the magic weps for ashlands are so underpowered
I had a thought earlier
If i place house items in the structures within the black forest biome will it prevent the masses of greydwarfs from spawning?
A bunch tend to spawn in abandoned outposts and such
I would assume so. Guess i have nothing to lose trying
Certain items prevent spawns for a certain radius.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base
other than thunder axes and blood crossbow and some staves, yea
I just noticed Haldor is a redbeard dvergr so he is probably from ashlands, and Hildir is a white-haired dvergr so she is probably from mistlands
Uuuuuuhm, they are brother and sister
seriously?
And isn’t haldor’s hair white?
No, he is a redbeard
Yeah.
Fun fact, if you hang around the dverger in the mistlands long enough, they might even ask about Haldor
That is new 👀👀👀
Dev’s be deving again
Anyone remember when Haldor was an omega grumpy midget???
Glad he’s nicer now
Haldor is a Merchant he probably travelled a lot trough the world, isnt impressive that he is known by others dvergrs
It is for world building
I missed switching "is" to "got"
he always was red haired
i just wish the funny boom boom shotgun staff was atleast a little tighter spread or just more damage overall
Cause the dialogue kinda implies they haven’t seen him in a while
Idk what are you talking about
ashland mobs have lots of HP so people keep saying the weaps are meh
How many Elemental Magic do you got my boy?
my ele is 79 rn
I got like 20 and they almost one shot Twitchers
idk maybe im just not close enough ig
i was using it for fader and the first time I croaked lol
Dundr is almost a melee weapon
pretty much ive noticed lol
i just stuck with the green cube and lightning axes and it got the job done
you can only stay like 1 meter away from enemies to get the Full damage
What version of the game are you even playing on dude? 😂
He is so much nicer now
He used to be so pessimistic basically saying we should go die nearby so he can get our stuff
He hasn’t acted like that since the mistlands update
He is red haired since 3 years ago
i wasnt talking about his humor tho
But you said a nice thing, i should visit Haldor now, the last thing i Heard from him was a pessimistic thing like your example
Depends on the enemy. I find it gets okay range against big enemies, but it's tough against small enemies like charred
lol
Does still apply but not the valheim chat
And would you know if he has a red beard 👀 (I just checked on the wiki)
How have I not noticed this???
I know I’m colourblind but what the heck???
does armor and resistances mitigate damage your blood shield takes?
Idk why but some footages got White hair Haldor
yeah I hate dundr, hate how slow blood magic is to level as well. I like the new fire staff and the staff of the wild but that's about it for the ashlands
Really good question that i wish i knew the answer
I feel like the armor needed more regen or cost reduction on weapon enhancement or something
staff of protection bubble is unaffected by defense, resistances or weaknesses.
it's just a raw hp buffer with an overflow gate
@modern moon your answer
No. And just as importantly, it does take chop and pick damage (damage used for cutting trees and rocks). Meaning if a big brute hits you, the shield will take regular damage + chop damage + pick damage meaning your shield will quickly get destroyed
Unlike non-mages you can always take (and parry) at least one hit from anything though
less of a tank buff and more life insurance for glass cannon builds that dodge and avoid attacks anyway
||is Dyrnwyn worth the struggles? the numbers seem very underwelming||
I dunno if a guaranteed parry is really life insurance. I see it more as an offensive strategy
You parry a big attack, your shield prob goes down. You don't parry the big attack, your shield prob goes down.
But using your shield to guaranteed parry like a 2 star morg or something and then lighting it up with dundr or thundr axes, that's good stuff
For combat no. For a cool decoration in your house, sure!
let's hope it'll be a best weapon of choice for the hyperborea update then haha
Okay, got a bow, got some arrows, surely I'm ready for mistlands now
pfft, a bow
this club is gonna do numbers
Based on experience with the club in the meadows about 6-8
but make sure to max upgrade it before you head to mistlands
