Sadly no new daggers, imagine enchanted Lightning in any dagger
They added two. Explore the Ashlands!
BROTHEEEER
I love dual wielding too
bruh imagine enchanted blood backstabs
Damn i want this 😭
first biome without daggers i guess
Oh, okay, Renato spook me for a second
Lightning Berserkir Axes are very strong against morgens
Well Plains didn't had bow, so..
mistlands sadly didnt have club
And Mountain didn't had axe
???? Crystal Axe
the crystal battleaxe
Yea, some biomes don't have some weapon
I mean regular axe, not the big one
How do you get the tamed animals to follow you btw
Sadly Himmin Afl isnt that good now that many weapons got Lightning Enchantment
only wolfs will follow you unfortunately
its still good in mistlands
Sword
if you count two handed yeah
No sword in meadows
Mistlands weapons are just better than non enchanted Ashlands weapons
Damn
Just not true 💀
I do wish we'd have gotten a sword skip in Ashlands though. Too common and powerful a weapon imo
I agree 1857.12%
Im happy that we have club Again
No axe in mountains
I already said that 😭
crystal battleaxe
if you dont count two handed that is
If you want to go technical...
Some animals like the wolf can be commanded to follow you just interact with them.
Lox and askvin need a saddle and you can ride them around.
Boar and chicken need to be pushed or pulled along with the harpoon.
For the chicken you could just get eggs and hatch them where you want chickens.
If you don't count two handed then I guess there's no axes in Mountains and Ashlands yea
130+ raw Damage +10 Lightning + Lightning proc
I forgor what lightning do lol
Remind me
the new axes are fine but the big two hand axes are not worth in my opinion
Don't feel it's too technical. Main use of a weapon category is to use that waepon for damage dealing. Having used axes in meadows/bf/swamp sets you up for nice damage on a battleaxe in Mountains
And himmin afl can literally still stagger anything in the Ashlands even on Very hard, you don’t bring atgeirs for damage, you bring them for control and stagger potential.
damage
DoT?
and stagger
It's not really about the damage numbers, it's about atgeirs being OP and even blackmetal atgeir woudl prob do well in Ashlands. Himmin Afl does amazing, especially because it also has lightning which is a powerful element
No just straight up damage. ||Lightning enchantment also has a chance for lightning to spark off the enemy and hit another nearby enemy ||
Riiight, that's why it was so god
Bronze atgeir cooks seekers that’s how strong the atgeir is
Kinda was waiting for Cars reference in spoiler xDDDD
Not that well since many ashlands Enemies got resistance to pierce
Irrelevant
Atgeir special has a 6x stagger ratio, means you can stagger literally anything pretty much
Lightning damage ||summons Lightning McQueen to do hit and runs on your foes||
I laughed harder than i should
Increased stagger dmg from secondary and even higher stagger dmg due to lightning
Eh, i dont knew about that, probably starting using Himmin Afl again
And the lightning is duration-based, meaning that the extra stagger can still trigger
Well lightning isn't a higher multiplier of stagger damage is it? Just same amount of stagger as physical damage?
Ah I see talking about the enchantment not himmin afl anymore
So what Mistlands Gear i can level UP? I already did to Mistwalker and Spinesnap
WHYY did they add a noise that the shield generator always makes even when its fully charged
Mistwalker and Himmin Afl do very well in Ashlands
All the magic items do too
all of it iirc
Arbalest
I really need to start doing more sneaking. It seems like a fun playstyle. And now that I'm not using bows I imagine it'll be even more fun going in with knives or demolishing with an arbalest
My arbalest skill is like 5
Sneaking skill also decrease your passive visibility
looking through the wiki, it seems the best dagger can be made in plains? Is the wiki missing something or do you really get no new weapon for the last 2 areas?
theres skoll and hati in mistlands
None in ashlands
Needs earlier materials but crafted at black forge
I mean, i dont crafted any daggers in my entire solo gameplay, dont miss it
you know people can have a playstyle right?
Ik, but isnt necessary
probably the only one you really need the entire game are bows and swords
quite dense
I play with daggers and bow, in current game
this is kinda sad tbh, i like clubs very much
same
Really? I didn't know that. Thought it only applied while sneaking
are the magic staffs viable end game?
daggers are just mini swords with a really good backstab and no speed debuff
Okay?
They're the best weapons end game
Oh wow and how are they!
Does tar affect Yagluth? A tar pit is actually eating into one of his pillars
Staff of the wild and trollstav are gamebreaking
And they're literally found at endgame.
An endgame weapon not being viable at endgame seems contradictory
You don’t need any specific weapon, you can use one or many
Good question. Water does, but dunno how he feels about tar when being resistant to fire and being a boss so idk how he feels about being slowed. If I remember right frost doesn't slow him
I carry many weapons, but that one i really use is sword. Idk if its their consistance or im just a normie
Limiting yourself to specific weapons is a bad idea. The only reason you would do that if for some challenge run
If you play with 2-3 weapons - you have higher skill = higher dmg
I got high levels on Swords mainly, Atgeirs and Clubs
I'm trying to use a lot of different weapons on my current run. So far in Swamp and got some good use out of knife/spear/mace/fists/axes
Resistances neglect the increased dmg a lot
Also high skill for bows very useful
but id want to level UP axes to use B-axes
but it doesnt seem that way to me? You can get all the required mats on intro to mistlands? Most of the weapons I consider "end game" in most games is post second to last boss
Yea its quite op
I usually stick to clubs until I hit plains, then I start leveling the others
Mistlands is currently the second last biome
Nevermind reread that statement and I get it
I usually give a zf about them and tank throu it
Game stages here are based on biomes
Mistlands and ashlands are endgame
i get that, but like, you can basically have it for the entire 2 last biomes
2 whole biomes endgame rn
you dont need to fight a single mob in mistlands, or the boss, for the required mats
Valheim does a pretty decent job of keeping early weapons viable later on, whether you like that or not
Frostner does great in Mistlands
Mistlands weapons destroy in Ashlands (a lot of them are actually better / just as good as the Ashlands weapons 💀 )
Bloodclots are dropped from ticks, and protection staff needs them
if the devs want to lump them together thats fine i guess, im used to different biomes or worlds being distinctly harder, I.e. only the last biome is end game
Btw Miskwalker should be strong af in Ashlands
it is
AND IT IS thats why i only crafted B-axes as weapons
Well when you go to Mistland from Plains it's kinda hard, and it will be harder when you go to Ashlands
in that case its fine, I just was a little concerned that there are not many new weapons for some classes post plains
i mean obv there will be a jump, but typically only the final zone is end game
Doesn't neglect the fact, that those 2 biomes are end game
People here talking about current stage of development
Mistwalker, Demolisher, Skoll and Hati, Spinesnap, Arbalest, Jotun Banne, Staves
is ash not completed?
Arguably...
We will get deep north after ash
It is but the black forge upgrades will be made at Deep North
ok, ignoring the changing definition of "end game" I was just talking about explicitly ash lands when asking for viable weapons
all weapons in Ashlands are viable
No one ignoring it, that's just how it is
Not long time ago Plains were endgame, but overall they are midgame
Really? I feel like Mistlands and Ashlands gives a lot of unique options
arguably...
Mistlands --> Ashlands --> Deep North
Endgame progression
Remember when fulings were the strongest mobs in the game? Fun times 😌
staggers and destroys a 2-star fuling
Remember crazy oneshots from squitos? 😭
not for what i wanted (daggers) I didnt check every weapon ever, i just noticed the daggers end in plains and popped in to ask
(i know there is technically a mistlands dagger but point stands)
Now they devolved to mosquitos
when you 1st find fields and mesmerized, you think the mosquito sound is background noise
i meant ignore it for the sake of understanding what i meant. I dont care how you classify end game, i was using it to convey a point and clearly it was the wrong phrase
Yea I was bummed about no Ashlands dagger too. I don't think that that's Ashlands having less choices than Plains though, I think that's just Ashlands not having the one choice you want.
If you were a spear or bow player you'd probably think Plains was more limiting than Ashlands, for example
I thought at first they are some kinda passive mob, or will deal small damage, then was obliterated
fair enough, i just kind of expected a standardized weapon progrssion for base weapons
I got your point and i forgor what what the question
lol, dont mind
xDD
sry mate
ty all tho, good to be reasured i wont feel totaly underpowered if i stick to only dagger, and that there are some cool new options
i`ma open a bread & sausage stand
Yea devs are very much against that. Other than axes all the weapons tend to just be missing in 1 or more biomes, forcing you to diversify your playstyle
😦
I have a feeling deep north will have all weapons since it's the last biome, but we'll see
i wouldn`t go with a dagger in ashlands kek, aoe is the meta
Well, I wouldn't be surprised if some weapons like fists were still left out but still hoping for them
Gimme that crystal frostaxe Kratos carry around 😤
They are fine
thoughts go to the mad gal in the animated trailer killing charred with skoll and hati
absolute madladgal
Damn i want whole series
lets not forget the battering ram pusher, it looks like he didnt even bring a weapon
Only one single pair of fist weapons in the entire current game feels very wrong...
I perfectly agree with the biome weapon gaps, but this one I cannot. Even just one more would've been acceptable
Still waiting for bronze knuckles
dang that would be cool
I really like the fist playstyle of a 2 hit combo
If you think about it, every set of heavy armour should improve fist damage
nah
nah
nah
was the drakkar speed increased?
didn`t you get the 70hp boat engine upgrade yet?
happy birthday to all the norwegians !!
håper derre spiser masse is og har en fin dag!
Happy Constitution Day!
Sent it to the wrong Sildarflame 😂
Don’t have it 😋
Ooooh no I see it was blocked under a dm request still 😂
LoL 😆
So you got it, sleep tight and don't let the morgen gjall get you. Would that be morgjall for short?
i would rather call it the ABEND
whats the dedicated server update? whats fixxed
Mjall i guess
lol wtf
i was doing freefly shots for my build and a skeleton walked through the open door and now stands next to me lol
Meaning?
Say hello to your new skinny friend.
well Morgen is in german for morning, and Abend is for evening
so its kinda just wordplay
The abend gives Silderflame nightmares ^^
i myself wonder how i managed to draw that without getting scared of it myself
are only my Boneserpents beach addicts? The Beaches feel like a ''do it your self'' bucher's store for unique fishy meats

Bonemaws just follow the exact same behaviour all hostile creatures follow.
You make sound, they approach source of sound
But bonemaws can spawn close to the coast and have high spawn rates
I have a lot of shoreline bonemaws too. At least it makes it easy to get their trophies.
I wish bonemaws were stronger. They drop like flies once you splash a bit of damage in their direction
Hi all! I already set up a server on my macos a while back with the lloesche/valheim-server docker server and successfully connected to it from valheim. I'm doing it again for a new server, and I can't get it to show up in-game. When I check https://geekstrom.de/valheim/check/ it shows it's up and visible. I don't remember if there's another step I have to take to get it to show up in game. I can also find it on steam when searching by the ip address.
#dedicated-server or #valheim-help would be the proper channel for that, I'm sorry I can't help you more than pointing you at the best place to get help with your problem
Does anyone else prefer to portal metals or do you think it ruins the game? I played with that vanilla restriction for like 70+ hours? And then decided to allow myself to bring anything with me through the portal. I think the one thing that made me change the settings is because I wanted to build something far away but didn't have the materials such as iron for the stone cutter, etc.
Reach ashlands
I played for 1000 with no metal thru portals and 800 with portaling metals... I just decided that i do not have the time to spare as I am working fulltime, i'd rather use the time to explore more 😄 but really it is up to anybody to decide...you do you and do not let anybody tell you how you should play:D
Most of the time I don't portal metals and take a different route back to base with the metals so I explore more but sometimes I don't feel like it and will use the world hop trick.
I know, I just found it so easy because before I had to haul iron to my boat but now I literally just slap a portal down right at the entrance of a crypt and then go through as soon as I'm done.
same do I and then go exploring more swamp and killing more mobs and gaining more skills 😄
Just curious if I'm missing out on anything by doing this when the developers intended to do so.
Literally everything regarding that slider is irrelevant now considering the existence of stone portals.
Also, no one cares about how you play YOUR game, so idk what's the objective gained from asking whether it feels cheaty or not. It doesn't affect anyone else but yourself
After I finish my first playthrough, I might try out an immersive one.
I do not think either way you miss out on anything... it is a matter of preferance... it might be fun going on a long boat trip with friends and chatting while sailing, it is boring to do it all alone... and it is time consuming too... so i changed it 😄 good we have that option and can decide for ourselves otherwise i do play vanilla, no mods no nuffin 😄 me like it that way 😄
how very brave of you... i get lost all the time WITH a map... i don't think i could make it without 😄 would never find my boat or home again 😄
it is boring to do it all alone... and it is time consuming too...
I agree.
Especially since I have a job and don't have the time I used to have except for rest days of course.
hey for the ashlands weapons enchantment are you supposed to enchant first and then upgrade or does upgrade persist even after enchanting it?
Upgrades are lost when enchanting
Don't upgrade a weapon you want to enchant
let me tell you what I am doing right now: I am procrastinating defeating yag like nothing good. I have been to 5 different places to find plains with mistland borders and interesting landscape to build the next base and exploring entire continents that way ... and the only reason for doing it... i have to go and defeat the monster skellie next 😛
Just think of the enchanted weapon as another type of weapon but its recipe requires the weapon you want to enchant.
ty all
say, is it a common occurrence to encounter 2 different seeds with exact same islands, just moved a bit?
Huh, that is barely possible, it has a very low chance.
Iirc island formations are recycled but usually with some distinct "random generation"
so it's all just several layers of "noise" with random offsets
Anyone knows how much years will it take for me to discover all of the map? 50? 80?
Kind of. Each world is part of a secton of a much larger (about 4x) "base" terrain setup, and then further transformations are applied to that cutout to place the different biomes and such, place bosses, etc.
Ancient-Ingenuity-88 • 6mo ago
Nothing will compare to a fully loaded cart and karve seeing home render into view
Successful_Copy9373 • 6mo ago
I second that. Going on a adventure. Finding new islands and mining metals. Then coming back to your home base with victory music playing. That really enhances your gameplay experience.
I might go back to the restriction actually. Especially now that there is a type of portal that allows you to bring anything. Or is it too late? I'm like early-mid plains, I just need to search for fuling totems and I'll be fighting Yagluth.
The Mistlands is still a logistical puzzle without being able to teleport ores, specifically Blackmetal
What about it?
yup, the forts are definitely not living up to the early concept art they showed us and I don't see them making any changes
Just in regards to your portal restriction comment, so you know what the tradeoffs are 😉
guess it up to us to build a better fortress in Ashlands, one that's not a square
WithSilverStaind • 6mo ago
Having played both ways, I find that no metal through portals is great in multiplayer and ultimately boring/unnecessary in solo play for me. Having to sail more with friends to transport stuff home results in cool adventures together. Most of my sailing solo gets old quick unless I'm actively exploring a new area.
I wish I had friends to play with lol
I was rlly disappointed with the forts I was expecting like hallways and stuff but no
I'll try playing with the restriction again and see if I like it. Anyway, I gotta take a bath and go straight to sleep now.
only played an hour in ashlands but so far it's amazing
yeah, it is
Hola Ashlanders 😄
Why valheim has 45k players whats new? We got some new stuff?
Whats new we got a new biome?
Yea
Ashlands out, yes
Like?
new biome, new ship and many more
Damn dawg
What an dedicated devs they are
why'd they change how the map looks??
is there a way to change it back?
thanks for the update froop
How’d it change?
Welp.... it seems the ashlands are tailor-made for the frostner, I mean half of the things are weak to blunt frost or spirit
you dont notice it? plains are more green and everything is less textured
??? I didn’t notice to much. Have you tried restarting your game or checking if your graphical settings are changed? I know sometimes I get a glitch where I start up the game and everything becomes very low textured and the lighting is messed up.
no no the game is fine just the map is different. you dont see a change??
I’ll have to check when I get back in but I didn’t notice anything to significant
Am I the only one who seems confused at the concept that the top weapon of ash is a fire sword?
makes sense to me
frostner is also a weapon from mountains
when you put it like that it makes more sense
It’s a biome filled with lava and fire kinda makes sense that the weapon you get from it would be in fire. But maybe that’s just me
oh also scrap piles in the dungeons dont require the inital hit to start breaking them anymore
I was wondering what's best for Ashlands as a weapon, it seems frostner is still good
Nah reject weapons return to fists
is fire hazard setting supposed to be off by default?
is that what the shield thingie is for? to protect your base?
Shield generator specifically blocks outside projectiles, be them environmental or from enemy attacks
Meaning, when it's on, I have to add a new song to my Valheim playlist.
🎵 The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire 🎵
Very useful in the Ashlands, obviously, but also adds some comfort defenses elsewhere
how does one turn on fire hazard in dedicated server then?
ENTRAILS have a new look
#dedicated-server probably has an answer for you
sounds like it would make mistland base far more doable to fully protect it
Any cheap european hosting for dedics?
something like silver sword will prob be better in terms of damage for most scenarios, but the frost can be quite nice
I would think Mistwalker has higher damage than the Frostner at this point, no?
Frost is excellent
Think so yeah. Mistwalker is very good in Ashlands, arguably better than the ashlands swords
Saved my butt too many times especially with the big lizards
Frostner is great cause of slow and knockback
I haven't used frostner much before, but when I have the knockback always felt so annoying
it fixed itself
tbh the best Ashlands weapon is friendly fire. Why bother killing the enemies, when you can just have a morg roll through them or a valkyrie burn them alive
Friendly fire - ok my brain just shutdown for a second here 🤣
Hey everyone. Got a dilemma that I was hoping to get your help on.
Our friend group wants to start a new run for Ashlands, but for various reasons we cannot start from scratch.
Has anyone planned and tried out a method to run through the base game relatively quick so that Mistlands isn't locked behind many hours of playing?
Meant to say crowd control
Your map?
yeah. mustve been a glitch
Console xD
There's definitely ways to speed through. Could up resource rate and just go for each boss quickly.
Could also spawn in some items if you really just wanna skip to mistlands. Like could spawn all the materials you need from pre-mistlands, spawn materials to build a house, set skills to whatever you want them at, and then play from there
Do you want to kill each boss separately?
Or just jump into mistlands?
Dam not gonna say I told you so butttttt….
I'm still mid-plains but should I start a new playthrough? First of all, I've been playing with no portal restrictions after the first 70+ hours (got 144 now) but now that there is a new update, should I?
I'd say keep going but up to you
New playthroughs are always fun though. I like to make new challenges for myself or use new world modifiers on each playthrough
Yeah, I changed the portal setting mid-playthrough.
I did notice a lot of things such as just putting down portal at the entrance of a crypt rather than storing the ores in the boat and then going back for more.
So ideally (and this doesn't have to be set in stone), we'd like to keep the genie in the bottle so to speak, and avoid console. But, if there is literally no other way then we'll do it.
If we do end up going with console commands - I was thinking of doing something along the lines of planting chests full of copper/tin ore, and iron ore throughout the various regions. And then joining my friends with a fresh character on that map. That would, of course, mean that I don't get to explore the world with them "for the first time".
I recently started playing with a challenge where I can only build portals in bases/outposts, and I'm really enjoying it. Building a little functional outpost with some repair stations and storage and comfort when I brave a new biome is fun, and it stops me from just constantly plopping down a pocket portal which I find a bit boring
How about just 2-3x resource rate? Makes it very quick to mine metals and progress
Could even do no portal restriction too until mistlands
And then lower it once you reach your goal?
can you turn that off when arriving at mistlands though?
Yes, you can change the world modifiers at any time
Just via console?
For a dedicated server I think changing them is slightly more complicated than solo, but it shouldn't be too hard
So glad the devs put that in mind. Some games would allow you to change settings mid-playthrough but they'd just break the save or something.
Think you can do it through console, think there's another way too. Tbh I'd ask in #dedicated-server
You can always do what I’m planning on doing with my friends someday
Build some basic tools and gear for each biome and keep it aside
Then as you beat each boss, bring your new toys over into your world
Crafting new gear is always the most expensive thing
Right that's a good idea.
So you craft the lvl 1 item and if you’d like you can harvest extra goodies for new stuff
Also, it will save a HEL of allot of time with certain armor sets like fenris or root
I personally like setting the resource multiplier to 1.5x for solo play, it's a lot less of a grind but doesn't really feel like cheating levels of resources.
With a group and limited resources like fenris hair and such even 2x might be reasonable
So where can I find a co-op game for Valheim?
Not that I know of, but you might check in #mods-discussion for that stuff. The main channels stick to the base game.
Damage gets split?
Any suggestions for base location in Ashlands? I noticed that the shield goes down very fast at my current base which is next to a lava pit. Is there anything else that I should confider before investing the next ingame week for base building?
I don't want to tear it down just days later just because I failed to take into account something important lol
For most weapons except swords, damage gets split between all targets you hit. And that includes walls.
Ocean stacks
Yea, when you attack multiple enemies at once (or even just if you hit a wall with your weapon) the damage gets split between everything you hit. So hitting a wall and a skeleton means you do half damage to the wall, half damage to the skeleton
A few weapons don't have this "cleave" penalty, and do full damage no matter how many enemies they hit (mainly swords, battle axes, atgeir secondary attack, and 2 handed hammers)
wait do the ashlands axes have cleave?
@rain flare sorry can you explain what you mean? english is not my first language
I think hitting ground (that takes no damage) reducing damage to other things should be made illegal, it is just insane
i got a question...did something change to the drop of yagluth... it used to be 3 of the torn spirit
100’s no worries ❤️
You know those spikes in the ocean around the Ashlands?
They make a great starter base
for sure was... is it different now?
No mobs attack you there - just the odd vulture
i only got 2 now ??? it might be a glitch and it is stuck under the pillar but before going there and hacking at it i wanna know
Happened to me as well - boss drops just fallen out of sight
@rain flare ohh i see. thats a good idea!
Would be great to know since I plan to kill yag multiple times. I got idea to make a mage tower and add some wisp fountains outside of it as decoration
Boss’s always drop the same amount of stuff
I've filled 4 black metal chests with marble... surely it's enough?
well... he died right next to a pillar and it was hard enough to geht the second from where it has fallen, so the third might have dropped under the pillar... need to get the pickaxe and check 😦
never enough
you're right. need to continue evicting dvergrs.
attaboy
how good is the atgeir?
At least it’s not under that central bit 😭
the amount of copper you get from bringing down their structures is really damn nice. Never thought I'd see a black metal chest full of copper, but at this rate will see it very soon
I am not even sure if it is underneath the pillar but i need check...you can live with only two no prob... but i want it all
Very - you have extra reach on your attack, excellent crowd control
Reasonable upgrade costs
alright
Would always recommend
so ditch mistwalker?
Don't dare
yes sir
Embrace himmn afl
or ma'm
Mistwalker is recommended, even essential in ashlands
Reject the mistwalker!!!
It's actually great overall
Lightning damage is OP in Ashland’s
I have the lightning spear
I’m running the Big 2 handed from mistlands
hello guys i just started my gportal server and i would need some help or assistance to setup some mods any one who could help me thanks in advance !
It’s a struggle hahahaa
epic embeded fail
No mods best mods
Your gods have no power here 🤣
Atgeirs secondary attack is pretty OP
ill use mistwalker
Mistwalker is good for damage in general, Atgeir is good if you don't want to fight enemies but just constantly stunlock and knock them back
I like parrying :3
Was core wood removed ? None of the pine trees are giving any core wood
are there any good servers to join for a new player?
me too 😄
I hate atgeirs personally because they don't feel fun to me
i wanna get the game but i have no idea about what to do and dont wanna play solo
You're probably cutting fir trees instead of pine trees. Black Forest has both
Damn bats killed all my boar "crys silently in rage"
is carpace buckler the best for starting ashlands?
Thank you snail !
Yeah. And even once you get the Ashlands shield, a fully upgraded carapace buckler still parries better than a fully upgraded Ashlands shield, weirdly enough
Ashlands shield does better at blocking tho
You can get real tanky with that armor and some good health food
ooooohhh.... they changed that...you can not destroy the plllars on yag altar anymore
bummer...so folks be careful where you kill yag... try to not be next to a pillar
had to dig a trench all around and under it untll i found the missing drop 😦
They WHAT??? 👀
My dream of a yagluth disco ball can come true at last!!! 🥳
tried to hack down that pillar and the iron pickaxe does not damage it at all... so yeah... better protection then before 😄
Pillar... like the big fingers around the altar?
jupp
Did the meteors he fires still damage them?
nope... after the f ight they were pristine and not at all damaged 😄
Huh. Now I'm gonna have to go see what's up with that. That might even qualify as a bug.
All the other boss altars are unbreakable, wouldn't surprise me they made yags fingies like that
Well, ||Ashlands boss|| has a lot of breakability by his altar
Yeah, but the central area was already unbreakable. I always thought his taking down the fingers was part of the charm, leaving no place for you to hide eventually 😛 Nerfing Yagluth...
Well, I discovered my first ||Putrid Hole|| and was greeted by a 2-star Morgen. Is that normal lol? 😄
i hope you ran
Sounds like you got really... lucky...
I turned around and ran. Im now just wondering if it's doable. Probably not? 🤔
rip
you could deploy 2 ballistae outside and lure him in range, with traps
Haha, I would x that putrid hole out and relabel it avoid.
if inside, rip.
Can't place ballistas in a dungeon, and can't get morgen to leave dungeon
down some ale and go at it, leeeroy
cover your sword with anti-undead oil
truly the witcher moment
bonemass, 3 health foods and frostner. yolo
Frostner more like ||Blood Slayer (2 hand sword)||
goooosh the paddedd armor feels so slow after running around so long in fenris 😦 but for now... more protection against that beasties is in order
Anyone else's framerate suffer HEAVILY when staying near a fire for too long ?
If you're in plains a pretty good combo can be padded helmet, root chest, and fenris legs. Fenris makes you go fast, helmet gives you armor (without losing speed because its a helmet), and root chestpiece gives you resistance to deathsquitoes, spear fulings, and knife fulings. Pretty good loadout
don't think so no
I usually do fare pretty well in plains with all fenris 😄 but now it is mistlands and that is a whole different story 😄
Ah. Mistlands still feels pretty good in fenris + root for me, but it's not quite as stylish as all fenris
I love the root but i go for wolf armor to not be flammable when i go into mountain caves and i do many caves to get fenris fast as possible 😄
I do the same, but the root harnesk is super powerful in the Plains and even more so in the Mistlands 😉 Especially once you get some barley going and can remove the weakness.
I'm definitely gonna need some fenris armor for Yag fight because I'm playing without resistance meads
But heck, I'd use fenris armor anyways. Nyoooooom
i will switch back to fenris the moment i got accustomed to the bugs attack pattern, but for now... i get staggered if they hit me - can not have that until i am sure i can dodge and not get hit 😄
Maybe you need some better food in your tummy
that too ... have to collect some mistland stuff first though 😄 i have lox pie and fish wraps and bread... 😄 need mistland foodstuffsis than it will be easier... i just barely defeated yag... settle in mistlands and get comfy with it will be a while
i just saw a squito hitting a seeker twice and draw half his life ... 😄
I'm a bit of a food connoiseur I like to go grab some mistlands food before going and having a violent conversation with yag 😅
Armor food & a big shield helps
I tried to do that... but then i could not find a spot where i could at least see the hares ...so went with the usual and yag is no prob to defeat... my favorite boss for ease of killing 😄 .. plains is by far my favorite biome 😄
I'm personally more a fan of the smaller shields
I like the medium’s ability to do both ok
I think my favorite biome is Mistlands, but favorite bossfight is Moder
guys anyone knows a low pop (3-4) dedicated server that i can join and mind my own business ? 😅
Mistlands is nice once you find the clear spots, it gets beautifully dangerous
Also it has dverg, that give || free lanterns ||. Cant beat that
Give lanterns, get brutally murdered and have your lanterns stolen, same thing
i myself, emply the services of gjalls for such bloody jobs
have you guys encountered any major bugs? I haven't tried the new Ashlands yet
I got luckyyyyyy... the point where i entered the mist (where i did not hear a gjall already spawned) had a skull and torso with armor and sword all neatly together and a goodly number of yggdrasil shoots around for yggdrasil wood. And the gjall that showed up like after i hit the first tree i managed to shoot death without it hitting me once... right outside on the plains are some lox to be tamed and good flat ground to build a base and best of all... there is not only rock but i can have a mistgarden in there 😄 perfect spot 😄 ... oh i forgot to mention the tangle of 5 different roots in the area too... PERFECT... never found a better spot in all my hours of playing 😄
Not much no. There is one bug that can potentially cause you ||to slide off solid ground into burning lava|| which is very unfortunate, but other than that I think Ashlands has no huge bugs.
doesn't sound that game breaking, should be playable
yea it is perfectly playable. That bug also only happens in one specific spot where you have to spend effort to get to
Damn so swords and atgeirs are the primo crowd handlers
Which do you think is the better CC method between swords or atgeirs?
Probably atgeirs, because they're brokenly good not letting enemies ever get near you
2 handed hammer
Can you parry with an atgeir to get the parry bonus damage like you can with a sword + shield?
But swords are very nice too
Yea atgeirs parry pretty well, works same as a shield
So it would be a good idea to pick
- Ranged option
- Single target + shield
- Multi target
As far as weapon focus goes
yes but for 2. i'd take both mace and sword
hi guys
mountain and mistlands are my faves. swamp and plains least fav
Yo so If I have resistant chest and legs to fire but feather cape does it neutralise the weakness? How does it work
resistant + resistant + very weak = normal damage or?
Plains = best music
resistances should overwrite the weakness
"my back yard"
I will say taking out fuling villages is very satisfying
visually my favorite biom become ashland, not that much with the mobs 😄
I love having that horde of enemies come charging at me, and the fact that you can go in swords blazing or totally stealthy
"the garden biome"
I really want that type of experience with Ashlands fortresses 🙄
I always like to pick off the enemies on the outskirts then go in
run in and survive, picking off everything without dying
Rn I’m trying to decide on where I wanna position my plains base but it’s a struggle with all the options
I'm trying to learn how to do stealth killing with a knife better. Haven't done it a ton before but I'm learning
Seems like it's a pretty small alertness radius when you knife someone
I imagine as you get your stealth skill up it’ll feel better
How much harder is it for enemies to see you at night? Is it really worth it going in at night for that sneak buff?
I’ve not used knives or swords at all I think I’m just gonna minmax frostner and draugr
hey friends, 100+ hours here, friends and i wanna spin up a hosted server, and i've been poking around to see what hosting site works best. if anyone has had any good suggestions, i would appreciate if you DM me, i dont wanna encourage breaking the "no hosting advertisements" rule ❤️ PS: we're mostly US east based if that helps
I saw somewhere it’s like 50% difference
some mobs have better sight than others
its no radius, you can kill 3 lox without a sweat with sneak hits
interesting
Night is better if I remember correctly
wolves will spot you a mile away, and lox will hardly notice you unless yr close enough for it to breathe on xD
I wonder what the next update is gonna be? Do you think they’ll do something similar to previously with these in between updates between major biomes that fill the game out?
Any ideas for our friend?
Like I’m imagining a second armour set for plains
Not happening.
I don’t do servers so I won’t know 😭
each weapon gives you different experience of the game
My next run I’m gonna try swords and knives
I just like the frostner too much on my first playthrough
Knives are amazing
Yea less light is better, but I haven't experimented a lot with it so I wonder how influential it really is
its a good call for beginners, advanced combat techniques are with different weapons
The Silver sword seems pretty good I saw a someone solo yagluth with it in like 4-5 mins
I'm not a big frostner fan
Too mainstream?
too cold
I’d love the middle mouse attack to be like a AoE frost attack instead of the regular mace swing
too simple- hit, knockback, hit, knockback, nothing you can learn from that
I am gonna use some more maces and swords this run because they are good, but yeah usually I opt more for knives and spears and such because they're faster attack speed allowing me to be quick and mobile. Swords and maces I feel lock me in place a bit too long or don't let me get 3 hit combo off
Also yea the rave around maces and swords also makes me like them a bit less
Think I also value mobility more because I'm used to playing on higher difficulty where it can be tough getting a parry off to have time for a full follow up mace/sword combo, and being hit once means death
See I’m trying a middle ground with fenrir set and frostner I don’t want to sacrifice too much mobility
What I find annoying about frostner too is the high knockback
same
I like being able to parry someone and then quickly finish them off with a quick knife combo
But using iron mace in swamp right now and it is pretty convenient being able to kill skellies and blobs so fast
God damn it’s the dead of night and not a single wraith in the swamp
Prob gonna try and use a silver sword when I get to mountain
You gotta look waaay up in the air.
They don’t appear above the trees right?
Usually I’ve had them come up to me when I didn’t want them to now I can’t find them when I’m seeking them out lol
Took time but I did it 😄 2-star morgen in ||putrid hole|| is no more
took a screenshot but cant upload it here
Oh God. Morgen can have stars? 😱
Is it just me or do enemies spawn ridiculously fast in Ashlands
A lot of people think so, but I think that's the theme of the biome
All out war with the hordes of Ashlands mobs
I only have a freezing problem in the living area in the game. help me
If you have a lot of torches / fires around or a very big base that can cause bad performance
There was no problem, I just created a water area with a trick and that was it.
Could water be the problem?
What trick?
waterliquid
spawning things other than just regular items in with devcommands can likely cause some freezing issues I think. It can be risky sometimes
I think you might be able to remove it again with "forecedelete" and looking at it, but I don't know much about it
Step 1: Add a new biome very suitable for Atgeir
Step 2: Do not add a new Atgeir
Clearly you must now become a spear main
Spugelo - Spear gang
rolls off the tongue much better than Atgeir
Tbh spear is the weakest item in game
Maybe the new one is exception when enchanted
Eh, it was already far from being weak, just not fun to use when it looks like you're just waving around a pointy stick
also is extremely cheap to make, which would be very useful if actually used one
really unfortunate that can't stack spears up to something like 5 so you could throw a few of them
I prefer spears to battleaxes and 2 handed maces
Although it really just depends on the situation and what traits you value. I don't think any weapon I can think of in the game is particularly bad
So in reality it's more like use every weapon except spears and daggers lol
Actually someone said the dude who got the best time used spears, are they actually good?
it probably has a lot to do with low cost of the weapon
every mob is resistant to pierce, an atgeir would be pretty bad
What's the use case for sword vs atgeir
that they're completely different and not really comparable
When to use an atgeir then
sword is more of a 1v1 weapon while Atgeir is 1vMany
You can use a shield with a sword, and enemies that are weak to slash will be better handled by a sword.
Is there anything that competes with atgeir in crowds?
This is random but some kind of flying mount for very late game would be bad ass
Swords don't have cleave reduction so would those be viable as an alternative
battleaxe and 2 handed maces do make an attempt... but neither of them do it as great as Atgeir
There's the krom, which is a two-handed sword, works similarly to the atgeir in some instances
What makes an atgeir better than a sword for dealing with crowds?
does krom not get reduced damage for multi hits?
That atgeir does 100% damage to every enemy no matter how many it hits
Nope. Krom is like all swords like that IIRC.
Sounds like I'd pretty much always want a bow, and I pick either a mace or sword depending on biome vulnerabilities, then take an atgeir for...crowds that a sword can't deal with?
sword can deal with crowds... it's just much harder and you'll need to be really good at positioning, timing and parrying
if you use a mace, use the 2 handed hammer because they both scale with your club skill
2h hammer instead of an atgeir?
yeah
But I thought the whole point of the atgeir was for its reach, aoe, and lack of cleave damage reduction
oh and massive stagger
Is the 2h hammer comparable to it in those categories?
Those are the same benefits for the 2H hammer, it's just slow to attack.
meaning, much harder to use
the 2 handed hammer has greater aoe, more knockback and deals more damage but it’s slower
it does slap hard when it hits tho
it can also attack through walls
It's an intended mechanic. Even if you have reach the atgeir and such cannot attack through walls.
the reach and acceptable attack speed, a bit slower than 1h weapons, but not really that much slower
It's intended that 2h hammers hit through walls?
Yup
the downside to the atgeir is that you can’t use a shield and you have to commit to it in order to scale its damage with your main weapons
Yeah I'm still debating sword vs atgeir
when I started using Atgeir more, I noticed I started parrying less and less. Why parry when you can just stagger the enemy by hitting it once whenever you want to?
tbh though atgeirs have pretty decent block armor and parry modifier
Xbox finally got valheim update or still have to use Xbox beta testing method?
Not that I remember
Sword gets the same no cleave damage reduction, so why use an atgeir over a sword and shield
And you can parry for extra damage
sword has pathetic reach... it's not going to hit multiple enemies, unlesss you go for 2h version
sword doesn’t 360, can’t hit things behind you
Atgeir is able to do 360 spin with massive reach
also low knockback and not the best at staggering
I think I remember people cheesing Queen with atgeir through wall at first
Also I remember firespark making a video on raising terrarin walls near a fuling village and then getting fuling to chase him over there. Then attacking them through the walls with the atgeir
It can easily hit multiple enemies even if it's not as good as an atgeir
Things behind you is a positioning issue, but I get what you mean
btw is faster killing the Queen with melee weapons without cheesing (much harder too)
well if you’re surrounded how can you not have something behind you
The winner of the Trial of Tyr did a fair amount of damage like that IIRC
agreed
i went to kill The Queen today with B-Axes and was sooo fast (even level 1 axes)
Not easily at all. It does happen, but not often. Enemies do not usually just walk up to you in a straight line and get bunched up. Many of the group enemies just maintain some distance from each other most of the time I noticed
??? My Mistwalker can easily hit 3 or 4 enemies
in Ashland?
In my experience pretty much all melee enemies just walk up to you in a straight line
yes?
Well that's the only biome where it works like that...
And you can go stand by a ranged enemy and have a melee come over and hit them both
and that's because there's crap ton of enemies
but they need to be side-a-side
It can be pretty useful parrying even just 2 melee enemies then hitting them with a sword for double damage on both
Probably today i will be on ashlands multiplayer and i need to say, that damage/blocking calculator is completely wrong
though in situations with a bunch of enemies right in my face I probably won't attack much, because me attacking is gonna also mean me getting hit
Our Fullings have like 500 hp instead of 175, and does alot of damage
Finally got 5 black cores the other night after intense difficulty finding infested mines and decided I'm going to try to use Krom going into the ashlands
What does fuling hp have to do with blocking?
black cores are pain to get. I've been clearing many mines and I've finally gone past 20...
eh maybe I just don't know which calculator it is
Anyway they are very op and got high damage
hit em with a frost weapon and the tend to just kinda stand there not doing fuck all, fulings that is.
then again I tend to move into the plains as soon as I get iron so I can make a stone cutter and make my long term base so I'm used to fighting them with abyssal razor and bronze bucklers
FR
tbh once I get a root chest plains doesn't seem so scary, even on higher difficulty
As long as you see the Fuling Shamans before they see you 😉
lol
They only spawn in villages so I'm sure I will. Bigger threat is club fulings
they'd be far more dangerous if they spawn in the night mobs or just outside of camps in general
little oneshot fellas
one thing that drives me nuts about the plains is when i fuck up and need to corpse run and I get back luck with the squito spawns
Ngl id really think multiplayer with 4+ Players >> Very hard
being one shooted by Brenna with full Flametal set is kinda embarrasing
Well your multiplayer world doesn't sound vanilla with what you've been describing
IT IS
What I meant by that was you shouldn't be letting things get behind you at all
I got 2 clips of me being one shooted by mosquitos with full linen set + root chest
Do you guys keep your prior gear for any reason?
Like fulings should go from 175 hp to like 330 effective hp, not 500
And Brenna should have like 84 damage with 4 players, which means you're either running barely any food to be killed by brenna in flammetal, or somethings wrong
Its Hard difficult btw
nostalgia, and backup gear for corpseruns
i display my gear on walls after im done using it
I like having a hall of armors on armor stands, and keep my most recent gear for corpse runs in an accessible chest.
like heavy armor is useless in multiplayer, we already played in the same squad like 4 other times and always we got one shooted by random things that arent suposed to one shot us
Makes a bit more sense then. Still, I think mobs having +12% damage +90% health from multiplayer scaling is a lot easier than mobs having +100% damage +30% health from difficulty scaling
Sometimes I'll even make extra copies of like, root armor because it looks awesome
It's really more the Hard difficulty than the Multiplayer though
Multiplayer scalling sounds scary rn
On Normal you shouldn't be getting oneshot much even with 6 people
How do you get that? The calculator doesnt shows game difficult
Very easy:
Player damage: 125%
Enemy damage: 50%
Enemy speed & size: 90%
Easy:
Player damage: 110%
Enemy damage: 75%
Enemy speed & size: 90%
Normal:
Player damage: 100%
Enemy damage: 100%
Enemy speed & size: 100%
Hard:
Player damage: 85%
Enemy damage: 150%
Enemy speed & size: 110%
Upgrade (+1 star?) chance: 20%
Very hard:
Player damage: 70%
Enemy damage: 200%
Enemy speed & size: 120%
Upgrade (+1 star?) chance: 40%
Multiplayer scaling adds 4% damage per player within 100m, and 30%(?) health I believe
Multiplayer scaling gives +4% damage +30% hp to mobs, for each additional person. Caps at 5 players
30% effective health*
Where are these from
wiki
Is it higher defense levels then?
their actual hp doesn't increase, it's the other stats like defense, that make it up to be effectively 30%
Sounds like it shows the damage marker to be the same with multiplayer scaling, but the boss is physically taking a bit less damage
How many times does it stack though
up to 5 players
which I'm not 100% sure if that means 5 total players or 5 additional players to the host. I'm assuming it's 5 total
I’d think 5 extra since you wouldn’t add 4% to a single player?
deepnorth when?
you would not add to a single player no. But still not sure
few years prob
How many weapon skills can you realistically grind up... are the skills even worth it or should you just have all the weapons anyways
I usually end up just shooting everything with a bow anyways since it's so satisfying to land shots
whatever floats your boat. High skill compared to low skill is a drastic difference, but since skill levels fast at low levels and slow at high levels it takes a lot of grinding a specific weapon to really make it stand out
Bows specifically benefit unrealistically much from bow skill
Most people use like maybe 2 melee weapons throughout their run I'd say. Gives some diversified damage options and gives you something else to rely on if a biome skips your main weapon. And on 2 weapons you can get decent skill
ashlands on hard mod looks like he leaves Elden Ring in the dust
does someone know why some ticks are immortal?
Maybe campfires could help. Sounds unfortunate though
Is there any way of gaining eitr other than food?
Bombs maybe?
eitr weave set i think
No, but there's multiple ways of increasing eitr regen rate
so have to keep making food
yup
thats what eitr weave does i forgor
vexing
Yeah eitr weave makes you regenerate your eitr bar faster, but you need to eat eitr food to have the eitr bar in the first place
yeah
all having fun? 🙂
yeah, just started production of linen thread and am almost done taming a lox
sounds plains fun 😄
still need to look for yag tho
u restarted or a new player?
restarted for ashlands
did they change how getting your house raided works??
i dont think so
why you think so?
i dont think so 🤔 at least on current playthrough i didnt notice any difference yet
Why are we forced to wear a bird's nest on our heads with the ashen cape? Blocks the beard, blocks the eyes (mostly) and is just plain gray wall covering too much. Other capes doesnt even compare because ashen cape has such amazing armor value (which is a great thing) that its neccessary to wear it.
i havent been attacked and im 20 days deep into a game, like at all
you are just lucky 😄
wait, let me send you 2 trolls 😄
i think trolls get unlocked when u start killing them
Are you on player specific difficulty vs standard(bosses killed)? That might change things.
nah im on all default settings
the true viking 🙂
i read online it was after elder months and months ago#
you are pretty similar at progression to me it seems 😄 i also have day 20 something now since i started new world for ashlands (also didnt go for elder yet so no trolls but i already had forest is moving 🙂 )
like probably a year ago tbh
oh dude im in the exact same boat
Both
just started a new world for the update aswell, and i cheated for a few buildingmaterials in my main world cuz i got lazy
so i wanted my pure unsalted playthrough
I just got the forest is moving, like right this very second
nah, no cheats for me 😄 thats what i have my cheating char and world for (mostly for testing tho)
lmao nah my games good then
yooo
complained too loud and someone heard
little over 10k in gold and nothing to spend it on lol
failed to connect, wheres the guide
rsmlord couldnt send trolls so he sent greydwarfs XD
get ready, bats will do that if they raid unless the boars are in a shelter.
wonderful lox is tamed
Dude im actually so upset, they all had names from the big lez cast
im making graves
💪
latest in ashlands u will have to face me 😉
if you will give me certain hilt... then with plesure 😄
at your service 😄
If you want to get fancy with the graves, you could sink into the ground one of the bumpy stones. I think they are 1x1x2.
example?
if i upgrade my weapons before using gems on them will the upgrades carry over? like is it a waste of mats to upgrade the base weapons
I'll need to post something once I get home from work. Can I DM you so I remember to do so?
Is Ashlands out for Xbox yet?
i gotchu
should be ye
Noiiiice
i think they go to tier1 but im not 100% sure.. maybe it got changed after beta
yeah, the upgrades are disregarded and it makes enchanted weapon lvl1
thanks Asatru
crap, sorry, didnt notice you answered already xD
yeah but i wasnt sure 😄
tbh i also go by what was in ptb, but as i didnt see any patchnote that said it was changed i think it should still be the case 😅
thanks i wont risk it then, do the elemental versions require more of the gems or anything to upgrade?
would kinda suck if it was like that but its the exact same mats to upgrade anyway
they should require gems to upgrade them, yes
man i just found a nice shrine and a morgen just cannonballed into it, destroying 75% of it
i hate them already
🏐
i would say more of bowling ball? 🤔
does rotten meat have a use?
🎳
Just as buke berry 2.0 I think
nuke berry?! 👀
valheim keeps crashing when i make a new world what is happening
Kills all enemies and allies within 300m and leaves a large crater
ok
including destroying your corpse and all the items you had XD
"War, war never changes"
Why does the ash cape have a weird face mask hiding my cool new helmet and beard 😐
yea im not fan of that design feature for the ashen cape
Looks terrible with fenris too
To protect you from the ash.
Well, I'd say the opposite really.
Yeah Morgen's are 100% toothy jackass
that would make sense if breathing in the ash without it did actually did anything but i ran around ashlands with my feather cape just the same as i do with the ashen cape so its more just an aesthetic
I'm not debating whether it's a good reason or not, just answering the question.
you know, they could make it so you'll regen stamina slower without it
Fortunately Morgen's appear to do very little damage to the Drakkar, judging by how long TWO of them went at mine before I killed them and it was still 3/4 health
ahh yes, ashlands, the update that makes deers drop arrows on death
just got 14 arrows out of nowhere after grabbing the drops of an deer
I mean, it doesn't.
you know if i fortify it wood and stone
it would give it a nice personality i feel like
then how did i get 14 iron arrows when i had none
"ruin turned functional" kinda vibe
the deer dropped a bonestack but it transformed into the arrows?
i cant find it anywhere in my inventory
how do you get the askvin skeleton build piece
Destroy askvin skeletons you find in the ashlands. They'll randomly drop things like a head, pelvis, etc.
Once you have all the parts you can build the skelly
No, don't think it has much use
what? No rotten meat pie? Preposterous! Rotten entrail sausage is great and all, but where's the pie?
Someone have any tip to found new sea serpent in ash lands?
wander around the ocean of the ashlands while its night time
i think its the same spawning system as the normal serpent
Near beach or deep sea?
I dunno, think the ashland serpents can spawn pretty close to land
Their spawn rates are high too, so just keep checking the ocean
I found the trouble with Bonemaw was NOT having them spawn in. They totally spawn among the spires
I fought off like 5 of them on my circuitous route to landfall
It took me like 20-30 sec to get to coast when I entered Ashlands water because I had a direct path. Still met a bonemaw tho
I wish they were stronger, they die so easily
I definitely do not wish they were stronger, they tended to show up at the worst times
their damage seems good from what little I've interacted with them, but with a frost staff or something they just poof away in seconds
I think with there high spawn rate it’s perfect, if they where any stronger peoples first time sailing to Ashland’s would go something alone the lines of make new boat, sail fast into rock maze, hit rock and get stuck, bonemaw spawns, bonemaw kills ship before it gets killed
I wouldn't say died in seconds, but the combat stats on my character are relatively low. Mistlands took it's toll, haha
so has the community come to a general concensus as to which of the three weapon variants seems to work best for ashlands combat?
Like which of the three enchantments?
yea
Lightning is generally best. It's just straight up extra damage that's very effective, especially on fast attacking weapons like axes.
Nature is useful too on fast attack speed because the immobilizing is powerful, but it requires a bit more strategy to take good use of and the poison damage is trash because charred are immune to it and it doesn't stack
Blood is a unique playstyle that I personally find very fun, but it's generally not too worth it. Pretty much gotta go 3 hp foods and get real low health for it to be good, and that's too much risk for the reward. Hope it gets buffed a lil
#screenshots Going to ash with 4 players hardmode lets see in what this will end
There's a pretty huge differemce in bubble health dependent on blood magic level. Mechanically the summoning staff levels it significantly faster though.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Do you know if there is like a cap on damage per health missing? Like does damage scale all the way down to 1 HP, or does it like reach its "max damage" at like 50% HP?
Have fun!
no cap. And importantly it's not based on %hp, but points of hp. So if you're running zero health foods it's pretty useless
So is pretty much every new ashlands weapon or armor piece gated behind Flametal?
I happened to land on a small island with no fortresses or Flametal spires so I have a few of everything but askvin parts, Flametal, and gems
at max you're getting like about 60% damage from blood weapons, but it's real risky
I think the staves are just gated behind gems, but not sure
Yea, seems pretty lack luster then. It might seem more reasonable id damage scalling was calculated from % instead of flat value, and cap it someonewhere reasonable like 25%, so you don't feel like you need to be at 1% health for it to be worth it
Try to explore islands in the centre, it’s more likely to be bigger.
Oh, I can build a staff of fracturing now with what I have got
Personally I really like it how it is. But I wouldn't mind it being 0.3% or 0.4% damage per hp missing, instead of 0.2%
If it becomes percent based it's just gonna be used a ton by blood mages, and mages don't need to be buffed more
Yeah I packed up pretty much my entire mini base and am about to set sail again.
Very unfortunate, I had a good defensible position just a few meters offshore
I kept a small portal there for fiddlehead and smoke puff runs though.
And apparently Morgen parts because those guys like to turn up to wreck your day like clockwork
Am I missing something, or can the Galdr table only get to lv 4 while the Black Forge can get lv 5?
Been playing for a while and have only found the 3rd upgrade for the Galdr table
I think it only goes to level 4
Damn, that's super lame then that we can't fully upgrade new mage gear
wouldnt be valhiem if you werent locked out of maxing your gear until the next expansion
Think of the current highest level as the max level, since in normal gameplay it is the max level.
game just isn't complete yet
In Deep North you'll prob be able to
And our deep north items will never have a next biome to reach max level in
Maybe we don't have to.
After all, most of us are able to defeat the bosses with "inferior" weapons after all.
Bonemaw's teeth floating in the water?
I left my pc in sleepmode with valheim paused and I get back and the world has been completely wiped?
Load a backup
the pc was off for some reason too my character didnt lose any progress
yeah i have a backup from yesterday just means ill have lost all my mistlands progress today :/
You might keep some progress if your character had important items
using a backup doesnt restore the character right?
World and character backups are separate
You could use devcommands to get back anything you’ve lost
Ok I’ve restored and Ive not lost much tbh so it’s bearable
Still got the galdr table at my mistlands base I only lost a food chest
urgh i wish we could plant berry bushes and mushrooms
berries & shrooms are notoriously difficult to grow
i love valheim so much its just frustrating that theyre used for s many recipes and you cant specifically plant them
certain blueberries wont grow in captivity even today
maybe greenhouse option somehow lol
berries & shrooms don`t grow in greenhouses
Those resources become irrelevant sooner than later anyway
If you are playing with maps make sure to mark all the berries and mushrooms in your world
aham troll skin
First time visiting Ashlands, we didn't last more than 30 sec... It's gonna be a tough journey 🫠
it burns
Right in the feels !
why can`t i just pour a few fire resist potions over my longship and drive it to Ashlands?
You can try, but I fear the water will wash it away.
because they made it a "heat" issue and not a "fire" issue
hence "heat resistance" on the armor set
are there any tips for finding haldor
Sail around black forest coastlines
Or if you have done a ton of that and still can't and are fed up, just use the worldviewer
i now have like 3 capes that i'm constantly rotating through lmao
What capes? Since reaching mistlands I’m just using feather cape
You may reconsider that once you get into the Ashlands.
I mean I have fenrir set that counteracts the fire weakness
But I imagine 50 defence will be useless in Ashlands
I wouldnt advise using fenrir just for the fire resistance, funny enough very little lights you on fire in the ashlands except for the lava, which fenrir armor definitely wont save you from
quick questions what the best/strongest building material for the ashlands?
damn just made my first silver sword ever, this thing is EXPENSIVE
I think black marble
welcome to any metal armor/tools/weapons in valhiem
it only gets worse from here
lvl 4 frostner 😭
Wouldn't the Grausten be stronger than Black Marble?
After all, if we follow game logic, each building material of a higher biome was also stronger as that of the previous one.
ikr, its super expensive to upgrade as well
160 silver total.
But totally worth it in ashlands, especially if you don't have mistwalker or frostner
Eh it's not everything though. I usually make a knife or flesh rippers or spear in mountain and they're super cheap
don't take any pesky iron either
Don't think so. At least from what I hear from people it's super low durability
Not for this one
Grausten just looks pretty
And it's not immune to elemental dmg, unlike black marble
true but for early game its helpful
Even late game they can be useful as "being at your base"-food.
whats the worldviewer
i do this all the time lol, and to feed the boars too
look up valheim worldviewer on google. Can input seed and it shows you the location of all the bosses, dungeons, etc. on your entire map
so anyone know if the buff from Moder stacks with the new cloak so that you can always have the wind run speed buff?
Yes I do know
And no sadly it does not stack :((((
Hope they change that though
At least it didn't stack in beta. Doubt it changed since then but could be worth a look
alr thanks
nah
barely anything in ashlands actually does fire damage
^
I'd swap for ||fader|| though
how do i find the world seed 😭
Is it a solo server?
Is it his or your server?
his
most servers hide the seed, specifically to prevent map viewer cheese
You'll have to ask him then. If it's one he's hosting just on his computer it should show when he select the world before entering it.
If it's a paid dedicated server I'm not entirely sure, but it should say somewhere
ruins the experience, just knowing where everything is
i looked for 3 hours trying to find the summon area for the plains boss and i gave up because it was a waste of time
its the opposite for me, i think my expirence is ruined by making me look for hours trying to find something that gives me 1.5x inventory space
also is there an Embla Robe for mages? i unlocked the hood and trousers but no robe
thats why i like the things that you can find that tell you where the boss is
is it me, or after ashlands fps dropped ?
Except those are occasionally harder to find as the boss they're s'posed to point to.
yea should be a full set
weird
Perhaps you missed one ingredient?
The robe requires 4 materials, three of which you need to craft the hood and trousers. The 4th is a metal.
My guess is that's what's missing, so did you mine and refine anything of that in your current biome?
nope
does anyone know the command to spawn in 2 star troll
its the metal then
Spawn Foresttroll 2 1 (if not mistaken).
If that spawns two normal ones, switch the numbers and make it a 3 instead of a 2.
I'd guess it would be 1 3
thanks
Ran into a problem
Map table can be updated, but only one of my group (4 of us) can copy from it. Anyone know what might cause this and how to fix it?
The map table often causes confusion.
All of you need to write to it first, and then try to read from it. Otherwise you can end up overwriting each other
You can do that now!?
Always been able to....
Strange, that isnt the problem
Any time any of us update the map it just says "nothing new to copy", all expect one guy who can copy everything
Does anyone of you actually have updates to the map?
Nvm fixed it, dont know how but we fixed it
Gjall fights at the tops of cliffs with the feather cape is my peak mistlands experience so far
I even managed to jump on top of him to get some heavy swings in with the frostner
out of curiousity, i heard from someone that there is a stack of flametal ore guarenteed in fortress chests, but i raided one earlier and there wasnt anything in there, was that just completely false info
i always find in the chest or inside the small tower in center, sometime it can be on the ground if they smashed the chest during fighting and maybe rolled away towards wall or so
Chance, not guaranteed
ah aight
sooooo much combat in ashlands
do the berserkir axes deal chop damage to trees? if so more than jotun bane?
Yes and yes
Think it’s more at least. I know that they’re overall faster at cutting trees
I think I just watched an enemy in the Ashlands slide on top of another to stab me through the chest
I’m confused
man, i dont think i've ever taken as much fall damage as i have in Ashlands... wearing that feather cape as long as I did has like permanently altered my brain when it comes to jumping off stuff
but the new cape gives so much def
i know, im wearing it and keep forgetting im not wearing the feather cape
so i just keep jumping off stuff then taking a bunch of damage lol
Ideally would be switching for these situations but yeah I get what you mean
I died while jumping/skipping a stair in the base
same here lmao
Shouldd u explore the mountain biome before you kill bone mass ???
Up to you but that might be really difficult
Cause people are saying u need frost arrows to kill bone mass
you dont need frost arrows, but it would make it a little easier .. getting the mats will be difficult though
Soo i should just try club him to death ?
mace is one of the most effective weapons against him yes, as he's weak to blunt damage
@zenith relic Who says that? Just use a Mace
i usually jump on the skull and cheese him with fire arrows lol .. but i'm lazy 😄
id say so yea, get a decent shield and mace and either block or run from his attacks and then hit him, i recommend bringing stamina and health potions too
What level should i make my iron mace for it to be effective??
I'm confused about how blocking works, took an attack from an enemy, hit for 81 through armour, no worries I'll block with my 80 block armour shield, took 82 damage through armour + block and died
it's calculated on block armor, hp and block skill
some attacks are designed to penetrate the shield and deliver damage, especially those from later biome toughies
Wait enemies have block penetrating attacks?
(it's a bit unfair and kinda defeats the object of even carrying a shield at points but yeh)
they hit so hard that no block can withstand it
it can also depend on whether your block failed. If you didn't have enough stamina to successfully block, the shield armor doesn't count.
I had over 100 stamina
but by then yr also getting into magic and the bubble is great
Went back and blocked the same enemy in the same gear and took 20 damage
the other thing blocking is dependent on is your total hp.
Total or remaining?
you can block better and not get staggered when your hp is higher.
current hp, not total
ah I see, only had 80 hp left but still got staggered on 220 health with 20 penetrating through my block
under 100hp is very dangerous territory for pulling off blocks
Just annoys me that I take 1/11th of my health and am staggered, whereas I can hit an enemy for 70% of their hp in one go and they're not staggered
filling a mobs stagger bar is dependent on sustained dps not a big hit, unless it's a special like the atgeir spin
Honestly, I've not gotten a single enemy in ashlands to stagger except with atgeir or parrying
It can be due to the stagger meter
sounds like it could use a look see if everything is working as it should be, but we might just not be able to output enough
I mean if I can kill an enemy in one set of blows but not stagger it, it stands to reason that the stagger meter is probably too high
Raw soft tissue has no use, right?
does seem off
Some enemies can't be blocked because of this tho and need to be dodged
Gets processed but apart from that none that I know
In my experience its fine because it adds variety to my fighting style
