i took the fulings to half health and then ran away to put some distance and get some stamina back, and it disappears

wonder what a fulings will drop when killed

honestly the deathsquitos are more annoying than wolves, at least wolves they...actually they are just as deadly, both cover distance incredibly fast and stun lock you and deals significant damage

the deathsquitos are slightly more annoying because it is so hard to hit

i am beginning to see a pattern, there is 2 set of armors each tier, one "light" that doesn't hinder speed but comes with less protection, and the other is... well, the opposite

yup. Also note the light armors have certain extra effects too, whereas heavy armor is just armor. There is one biome that sadly lacks a light armor

tbh I feel like deathsquitos are easier to hit because they have a more predictable path (flies straight at you, compared to wolves that sometimes zig zag and bounce up and down depending on the flatness of the terrain tehy traverse)

But deathsquitos are a biome higher so they're for sure gonna be deadlier in damage

nah after they hit me once they would also do all sorts of evasive maneuvers

My favorite light armor is Mountains, although Swamp has one light armor piece that's just SOOOO good, especially on higher difficulty

and also it is fast, you have to be pre-emptively drawing the bow before that one even attacks, otherwise you would be at half bow strength when it attacks

ye but when they're coming at you to hit you they go in a straight line. I never shoot at them when they're zig zagging but when they're coming in for the suck, they fly in a straight path directly at you every time

but they are so fast, often mosquito ecounters are very one-sided because they actively jump on you, not the other way

so by the time you notice mosquito is coming, your bow isn't even drawn yet, ,let alone retaliate

You don't necessarily need a full drawn bow to hit a deathsquito, and with good bow skill it draws really quick. But even with zero bow skill I don't find it too bad, just pre-draw a little. Of course it all comes down to being familiar with the little beasts, I struggled hard at first

throwing a spear at them or just whacking them with a melee weapon right before they reach you is just as viable too, although most find using a bow the easier method

all about awareness. But it is for sure rough if you're in another biome with trees and stuff and you're not expecting a deathsquito from a neighboring biome to jump ya

i should start using atgeir more often, that thing is, while clunky, easy to spam heavy attack

sometimes stuns the Troll, which makes its encounter incredibly trivial

Yea against melee attacker you pretty much can't lose a fight with secondary attack on atgeir. Even in the last current biome of the game enemies are no threat with an atgeir

I've come to really enjoy fast attacking weapons, they're a lot of fun and feel a lot more useful. Makes me wonder why all the meta weapons are considered the slower attacking ones

tbh I think it might be difficulty related tho bc I do remember the slower weapons being pretty good back when I could parry or otherwise stagger enemies, and wouldn't mind tanking a hit. But on higher difficulty it's harder to get enemies staggered and one hit and you're ☠️

because they attack with either a wide cone of damage or do AoE, which is stupidly important when bum rush by multiple mobs

and that happens like a lot in Valheiim

when i am chased by a mob of 2 Greydwarf brute, 2 shaman and a bunch of others, my thought isn't "i am gonna pick them one by one" but "this Ategier gonna make short work of them and i can just spam RMB and the crowd will dissipate"

Yea for Atgeir I for sure get it. But sword/mace/club seem very popular too and although they're good I see less merit

all of the above can do quite a large cone swing with light attack, and slash/ blunt is no scoff fighting enemies, good old reliable

heavy attack...yea those leave much to be desired, but still people mainly use the light attack

and they are practical enough to keep around

I think my main issue is that I can almost never get a 3 hit combo off on an enemy unless I stagger them or I accept tanking a hit from them

dont get used to only using bows its a good weapon for starting out but once you figure out how to parry and stun with round sheilds using a flint or copper knife with a bronze or wood shield is like the best starting out.

ive got club pretty high and i got spear up a little as well and axes are up but club doubles them. Ive also been working on lvling my blocking as well here and there i just let the little guys high me while blocking a few times before killing them. ill eventually get a sheild. im just working on upgrading my bow and its level for now for first boss then after that ill probably use it for hunting and thats about it

the storms are insane lol i always hide out in my base while its storming thats when im crafting and upgrading

you havent killed the first boss yet? He is super easy if you dont get super close to him and you use the roll mechanic like its a fromsoft game its as easy as fighting a troll

all you really need is berries, honey, and a bow to beat him

yeah just destroy all the wood structure around the beehive and a queen bee drops then you can make a beehive and each day or sleep one honey gets made

the blackforest is the area thats full of very tall trees that are fir and pine
exploring that areaa near water will let you find Tin
exploring deeper in the black forest will let you find big rocks that have orange golden streaks through them and hovering over them will tell you its Copper
exploring the Blackforest more and its dungeons will let you unluck ways to smelt tin and copper and find tiny runestones that tell you where the elder is

The only thing I see as a real advantage of having higher single hit damage is to stagger the opponent in the first hit but still that feels like it doesn’t really matter except against wolves. I wouldn’t use a knife against a wolf (except if using the special attack)

And the general DPS doesn’t seem much higher for sword than that of spear or knife. In fact it feels less bc I can’t get the double damage from 3 hit combo

Gonna start an 'only forward' run right now for the first time. It's when you're not allowed to come to biomes you've conquered and have killed the bosses of (water parts don't count).
So i'm thinking what mats can i possibly be short of because of it and should prudently stock up in advance, like raspberries in meadows. Any ideas?

Sounds very unpractical, but whatever rocks your boat I guess... Most recipes for just about anything has mats from earlier biomes, so you'd have to make a stockpile primarily of food mats I suppose.

I'm kinda baffled by it being so low after 800 days in the world and no deaths since I built my roof and fell off like 600 days ago... It's at 33, meanwhile running is 100, swords 89 and most other combat skills around 50-70

Do note that that is 1500 m or more. It is not right at that distance, he has a wide range that he can appear over 😉 it can often take a lot of sailing and exploration. Just keep an eye on your map to see if there are any pouch icons in unexplored areas, his marker will pop up on your map when you're around 200-300 m away.

Seconded. I rarely even tame lox because they are so destructive, and they are fun to hunt. Chickens are about the only required tame.

Chicken are great, but I never understood the need to tame Lox. I've never, ever 'rode one into battle' and getting meat & skins from wild lox is relatively simple.

For sure. I've just found serpents available much earlier, and pretty much incidental in exploration. Finding a new couple of islands to explore will have me pocketing 4-6 serpents worth of meat.

I don't believe so. My recommendation is put the old armour set somewhere where you can grab it quickly after a death. It's very useful in helping recover your primary gear from the tombstone.

There is a nifty strat where you build a tunnel underneath his altar, summon him, run back to tunnel and stand directly under the altar's brazier. The cheese to this is that the elder will remain directly above you and eventually die from fire damage

The other day I came across a great idea that involved using a burial chamber or troll cave as a basement to a base. Then filling that basement cave/chamber with chicken tames or mushrooms. Just can't use anything that requires a crafting bench in those environments

yea I only run it in dugneons on Very Hard hardcore/permadeath. In dungeons you don't need much stamina but getting oneshot because you're only running 1 or 2 health foods and losing your world/gear sucks

I think the bigger issue is: do you think it's correct or do you see it as cheating.
If it's the latter, don't do it. If you don't consider it cheating - which, since the Dev's allowed it in a way, can't be really seen as cheating - use the option.
I would advise to use a temporary world for it, so you can delete it afterwards.

Which can't be done without World-Hopping.
So I don't see why it would be wrong to do that.

So if you build as high as you can with stone, and the stone starts getting super unstable, any wood placed directly on top will still be super stable (blue) just as if it was connected to the ground. You can put the small anvils and the chopping block at those floor pieces just like you're building the wall of chests.

The 2x2 would block the line of sight of some of the upgrades; which is required to make them work.
But with the 1x1 it doesn't.
So put the very large items (adze, tanning rack, forge cooler for instance) at the ground and the smaller ones at the "rack" you crate with the 1x1 pieces on the wall.

leeches are a pain if you get caught having to swim near them, but on land they only snap at you just outside the water, so you can stay in the right spot and get them without them getting you with good timing

draugr and bone piles need to be taken out as fast as possible to prevent more spawns and starred mobs, and mentioning those, steer clear of them if at all possible, even with fully upgraded gear and food they will still be significant challenges

blobs should be a 2-3 hit max with maces

naked eikthyr sprinting can be a good method to get some initial scouting done for crypts and bonemass locations too

@uncut bough a couple of tips...get a cauldron and start making poison resist pots. Take a hoe, you can make a path through the swamp without touching water, just saps stam. Take enough to build a small hut with a portal that covers the front of a crypt so you can go in and out in peace

Drugar spawners can be shot with arrows at a distance so they won't spawn more stuff

particularly useful in crypts when there's a scrap pile in the doorway and you can only just see the pile

any starred or elites spawning can seriously slow you down and allow for more spawns so speed is key

He has three attacks with all super basic counters once you learn it
1: Fire breath, he'll pull back and breathe fire, just get in close and circle around him, or hide behind something
2: Blue fire hand smash, he'll raise his hand for a brief period of time, and slam it down. Use that time to get a few hits in. You can roll right when he slams, and keep rolling out of the blue fire to not get hit. Don't step in the blue fire after
3: His meteors. If his hand is in the air for a little too long, or you hear him call you ballsy, look up, start running, and bait the meteors into hitting the pillars

Bring fire resistence, as it makes being hit by his attacks MARGINALLY less punishing, you can make the mead base for it with barley

Don't be put off by the bronze age - it's one of the hardest hurdles to climb since you need tin and copper to make bronze
