I complained about it awhile back and there was a dev who responded at the time, I just don't remember who it was. Anyway, several months later and badaboo! It suddenly worked, and it is gorgeous! 🙂

You can make a landing using smaller floor pieces.

In the last current biome you get one that automatically curves so you can use it for that. Otherwise you’d have to try and do it with wooden horizontal poles but that’s time consuming and difficult although the results can be astonishing

This is what I used to do because I didn’t really understand the building mechanics. Then all my irl friends stopped playing and I forced myself to learn.

Still figuring things out but I’m getting better

I typically use stone for the foundation and walls, and then wood on the inside and stone support beams placed in the middle. This way, when you build with wood, the first piece touching the wall or floor is always grounded.

i'm well into mistlands progression and I still use my meadows base. It's just been heavily modified and fortified with late game build items. I don't see any issue. A plains and mistlands base is required in some capacity however for farming reasons.

A well laid out portal room to all your primary locations makes a centralized base the best option IMO, no matter what biome. Keep in mind you'll still get raided by anything depending on how many bosses you've killed

As developers, what were you doing for the past 3 years? Where are the updates if there were any? I haven't seen any, as I play through Game Pass.

Uhh, the Majorest update was Mistlands, which was a brand new biome. Then there were three smaller updates, Hearth and Home which added building stuff, The one that added ice caves, and hildr’s request, which added a new shop and some mini bosses

Ashlands is right around the corner, set for the first half of this year

As to why updates take so long, it’s because they have 14(?) people, and are mostly making valhiem because they want to

Pushing updates won’t get them a huge pay check, they sold most of their copies years ago, they’re just going at the pace they want to and working on the stuff they want to

i think the breaking point was when we were looking for turnip seeds fairly deep in the swamp, and an abomination appeared and as we turned tail to get out of there my wife ran into a spawner nest with 2 body piles and a bone pile

so then me and my son had to deal with the abomination, then deal with the spawner so my wife could get her gear back

Yeh, tin is underutilised. Easily collectable, but mostly useful when smelted to bronze

Just 40 bronze, prefer not to make it unless I need it because tin/copper might have a use on their own and it can't be unsmelted.

as for the lox, MAYBE you got staggered? check your world settings since even on very hard, i never got hit for a 230 through carapace

Not normally, but on this instance there were mods used at one point because some friends had mods on their server. Since then it's a completely new install on a new system.

its that simple, also you can abuse campfires at every boss since they indicate their spawn location with the particles, so you can place one pre-emptively

Yes, but not just cancel out, overide. Root chest is +50% fire damage, fire resist mead is -50%. Combined tho, it does NOT cancel out to 0%. Instead, fire resist overides the weakness and applies resistance (Root chest + fire resist mead = -50% damage from fire. same as if you didn't wear root chest)

Real “magic” you get to wield only comes in in the endgame of the game currently (although two more endgame biomes will be added, so I guess the current end game is more like mid game)

The magic is kinda limited so far but you get ||a staff that can shoot fireballs and ice shards, you can raise skeleton minions, and creative protective shields around yourself||. Can look it up if you’re curious but can also leave it a surprise

thankfully it did some damage and 3 draugr took it out, then I took out the draugr and reaped the rewards

It turns out the bug was using it to hide the fact she was making a bug army or something

Idk, point is at that point the mist is just a bother as you’re already done with the biome, but it’s super pretty when it wants to be so

Best of both worlds, you get the mist, and then you get visual feedback of the progress you made on the world

Which is more than you get with other bosses

And if you’re worried about a server, tie it to the option where raids scale individually

So players who haven’t beat the queen are still stuck with the mist until they do

Theres another biome that looks great with clear weather, like the swamp when you use devcommands env clear. But then it wouldn't be the Swamp. Same with Mistlands, sure its beautiful without the mists but its the mists that truly make it Mistlands

The reason i moved em all to chests is space saving and easier counting since each iron chest stores 1200 materials if stacked at 50 per stack

I don't see nocost building as problematic tbh. If you're building for the sake of building then it's the end result that's the important thing and you still need your creativity and stuff. Building something that looks amazing takes skill, gathering a million mats takes effort but anyone can do it.

Easy answer, it’s not the portals, it’s the metal. See, in Ye olde era, people believed steel counteracted magic. It’s the same rules, the metal won’t let you go through until you prove your dominance to it by hitting it with hammers
