I could tell you about more bad stuff about Intel than a random enthusiast could for sure, we're not perfect. But I think we still make good products and overall are a good company. I run all Intel at home (unless I don't have a choice, like my router/firewall, or my SteamDeck) - I haven't had a single issues with any of my CPUs, and I'm running all kinds of them. 10850k, 13900, 12700, etc.

If I knew more about development, I'd try to build a proof of concept, but I'm a Systems Engineer not a real developer. But I'm sure you could build an HA game server with a bit of work. Use a message queue to handle player updates, store important data in a shared database, and use either a shared storage system for the world files, or have certain servers store certain chunks or something

so many game servers are monolithic, it makes me a bit sad

Yeap Wiped them all completely, did a disk clean up, a defrag, Full reboot of system, Installed Valheim, Validated the files, Launched. Froze solid and had to task manager end it 15 minutes into the game.

Okay so updating method 1 is going to the AMD website downloading the update and install it manually which is the easy way apparently.
method 2 is having it Automatically updating, by using the Advanced Driver Updater app. which Auto searches, Identifies, and updates them even faster. ( method 2 is their recommended way of doing it )

Valheim does not support SRV for port discovery, sorry. It does host resolution via the OS stack, so of course works with A and CNAMEs leading to an A. Best way to practice isn't while you're in the game, but when you're outside taking a walk / ride.
If you got a cell phone - who hasn't, but still..... - with camera, just take a picture when you think you see a nice situation / environment. Just don't do it while driving. Not just because it's dangerous, but it may get you fined too....

At some point by doing so you will start to recognize the lighting effect on the environment and you will start to recognize the same thing in the game too.
And that's when you can start taking the nice screenshots.
