Wild garlic if onion leaves count. As for bulbs, it's a hard question, but I think I can choose. Not sure of the English name, it's star onion directly translated from Norwegian. fast trout

Previous to my driver's license it was snowmobile, dirt bike, back of my brother's motorcycle, and an old smashed up car that I had gotten running. And occasionally the school bus.

hard iron
#

I am looking forward to this summer and the weather getting nicer, getting back into racing

tulip mauve
#

I started driving at 15

#

which felt kinda weird bc I had just moved from Denmark to the U.S. Always find it funny that Denmark lets you drink and potentially harm your brain at a young age, but expects you to be older to drive. And the U.S lets you drive around a 4 ton clump of metal but not let you drink.

hard iron
# tulip mauve I started driving at 15

With a permit? I did a bit on some backroads and such before 16, but solo driving on public roads wasn't until 16. They actually changed a lot of the rules for 16 year old drivers in my state because of some kids in my class that ended up pulling in front of a semi on the first day the driver had their license.

tulip mauve
#

Yea drove around with Learners permit. Public roads, highways and all tho. Just had to had a 18+ adult with a license next to me

marsh sentinel
#

The US is weird.

hard iron
#

Yup. Doing that with my kids now 😉 At least some of them.

#

Biggest issue with the US is that our public transport is absolute shit and our infrastructure very much discourages alternative types of transport by forcing you onto surface streets with cars when walking or biking much of the time.

tulip mauve
#

I miss the culture of walking and biking

grave vine
#

Yes, it's easier in Europe 😸

tardy wagon
#

My city just started converting a lot of the busy streets to have the bike lanes near the sidewalk so the parking is a buffer between bikes and the car lanes. It's so much safer now except maybe visibility at intersectiona

hard iron
#

A lot of America was designed after the car, and around the car. But yes, I'm glad a lot of cities are starting that. The other thing to realize is the scale and sprawl of the US compared to Europe. Going from NY->LA is roughly equivalent to going from Moscow->Lisbon, IIRC.

Seeley's Bay Ontario, colloquially and affectionately known as Bumfuck Egypt, there isn't even a school here. Well, we all went to school, but we either hiked our asses to the nearest town which is about an hour walk through prairie or we got homeschooled lol.

I pay for hydro and all that like your typical citizen but I do heat my house with a woodstove, too

Well it's mostly out of circumstance, if something were to go wrong and I lose power, which happens frequently in storms, we wouldn't have anybody around to fix it for probably weeks and in the winter that would be disasterous so gotta have some alternative method to keep warm in emergency

Luckily I'm surrounded on all fours by forest, so wood stove it is!

My uncle had a wood pellet stove, and a regular fireplace. The pellet stove was crazy efficient and got hot really quickly, so it was his go-to in general, and it produced a lot less smoke and was in general less dangerous than burning wood directly.

The difference between computer science and programming are theory and practice. Programming is putting the theory into practice, and if you understand the theory doing the actual programming is much easier and ends up with a better product. By all means learn 3D modeling and such, but if you want to really get ahead learn the complicated parts of why, not just the what.

deep geyser
#

I have connections...

warm silo

My actual degree was in Criminal Law, but then I did about 5 years in courses culminating in my Hyperbaric certs, did fieldwork for about 10 years, went back to school for teaching certs, 10 years in japan after that as a course instructor and now we're here, retired.

Studying is just learning. If you figure out how to love learning, studying comes easily. The hard part is when you have to study something you have no interest in... sometimes that's beneficial to just force yourself through, but I've found it more beneficial to expand my interests.
