I worked on a personal project using some of the code from Valheim to create a supermassive world where it would selectively grab islands from each save that had existing builds on them and place them throughout a larger world procedurally. Then I could have it duplicate some buildings with variances of decay and contents so I could stumble upon them randomly and fix them up to have a cool base that’s also partially procedural.

I should do something with that program.

I build them all on small islands though so I should make the buildings populate randomly more than the entire island with multiple buildings

Lots of cool stuff this game can do. Just getting into modding XD haha

Finally got this verification thing working. Had to use the number reserved for junk calls and texts.

When I first joined, I was able to verify once and delete the number afterwards. But now Discord requires you to keep it on your account. I suspect this is because they are trying to harvest it for marketing. Facebook and Twitter were caught lying about only using numbers for verification and were in fact selling it to marketers. I don't trust Discord with numbers.

This is true. Unfortunately, client mods can't be detect by the server admin, but the admin can ban the players. Usually PVP servers are more strict on these matter.

Rust for example, does a ton to make client modification difficult. It still fails at preventing cheating, but it also makes some mods impossible. for example, you can't add any custom meshes/models/assets

To be honest, Revenant got a point. If you see V Rising dedicate servers, it's hard to mod or cheat, you'll get auto ban if using cheat, and the devs monitors PVP servers, even ban players if they're using game exploits without cheat/mods. Though for Valheim, there aren't much settings you can do to the server, only difficulty settings

There are a lot of upgrade stations that can hang out a half-level up on a half-floor, so make some 'shelving' with the 1x1 floors for a bunch of the station upgrade items

like, in all honesty, seeing that i can play this game with my girlfriend that quite literally lives on the other side of the world, gave me so much inspiration, it's madness.

obviously when we're close to each other, it starts syncing and we notice the high ping difference we have, but once we're far away from each other ingame, it's like both of us have our own chunk that is working locally instead of through the server.

it started with multiplayer only feature only. and in the Closed beta, some of us beta testers back then requested a way to play the game on a hosted device. so our friends could play on a shared world, without us leaving the client open 24/7.

Valheim uses UDP since it's a streaming type of data transfer method which requires next to no checkings on either client side

I can personally assure you that the tweet is written about a thing thsy happened about 2/3 days after the initial hacking scheme began.

The restoration is 'simply' the remaking of one of the servers used in this trick

The insight i gained is that discord does not seem to be honest with the admins of this server, or that the fact this hack was preventable is not something they want to be made public
