I think you have to slowly work on breath control and things related to that. I personally didn't have this problem, but I know alot of people do and it's relatively normal when learning. some videos I've seen do explain breath control and all of that, I'd look up stuff like running out of breath when screaming, I don't know something like that. I personally don't know how to fix but there are videos I'm 100% sure

I just learned low Fry's, it's a bit scratchy with a bit coughing but no soreness and the scratchyness goes away fast. Is that okay?

I'd say, it's because you're new to low frys, you don't know the best technique to do them properly, and doing them ever so slightly improperly, and that could tire your voice, I think the things that play is mostly techniques, oh and when that happens usually I drink a bit and stop singing for a little minute or two
That's my explanation take it with a grain of salt, hope it can help

It could also be with how much you use your voice

Your voice might not be used to being used this much in a row and it might get a bit tired like other muscles

There was definitely some post processing. I EQ'd everything hi passed so it wouldn't be muddy. My vocal setup isn't ideal so some tracks had this gravel-y sound that sucked. It was only on some of the low screams. I added reverb plus that EQ to everything, but for my lows (and some highs on the shorter tracks), I added an overdrive to the signal chain. It smoothed out the gravel-y sound and made the vocals sound a bit more aggressive

This is literally my rig haha

I feel the highs are a bit thin in the mix in some spots so I may add some pitch shifted vocals with overdrive if they work. Not sure yet. I'm throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks

Also, a lot of that stuff was dual and triple tracked

I like really fuck with how the highs sound and have forever been trying to get a similar sound

I'll explain exactly how I do them. Take a pig squeal, relax it until it's just a cricket-y grumble, add a bit more projection so you get more grit than just that gravel. That was for some of the cricket-y parts. The other scream I do with a similar tonality is more black metal-y, it's a relaxed false cord high. The lows by themselves sound more like Devourment than anything. It's very, very, very relaxed and super open

I also did another scream which was done with my mouth super open and in a somewhat oval shape. That was my attempt at getting something similar to An Isle Ate Her's lows but with exhale screams

I can't remember if I threw some tunnel throat in there too

It's a bit more constricted or so it feels, I'm definitely no expert so I'd suggest you practice around with using less air, there's quite a bunch of breath control that goes in that, it's going to be a bit quieter but it still sounds interesting

This was a challenge I decided to do myself for fun. I practiced this song for one month every day for short periods of time and decided to record a mixed version of my final progress. I really struggled with the pitch melodic type screams in the beginning but I was able to nail them fairly easily by the end of the month.

Have you tried many different tongue and mouth shapes?
Try putting your tongue to the roof of your mouth and closing your lips more or put the tip of your tongue behind your bottom teeth and curl it up and you should get a lower sound doing either of those.

You can still pronounce words, you just gotta move it around a little bit. Although, some tongue positions are harder less clear like I curl my tongue to the side then to the roof which sound super low but words are much less clear. Basically you just gotta keep trying positions and find what sounds best because I find thats the easiest way to get some more range is all with tongue and mouth.

Also easy because you’re not changing anything in the throat, it’s all afterwards.

Chiming in here. I have the SM57 with the foam A2WS pop cap filter. With the right compression and EQuing, you can make it sound close to the SM7B. The 57 and 58 are VERY similar but the 57s design gives more punchy proximity effect when you're close to it which I like for screamed vocals and overall has a brighter sound to it and I think it sounds really close to the SM7B for a fraction of the price. Not 100% obviously, but close enough to be noteworthy for it's price. I know some people will rag on it being $99 and typically used for recording instruments (which its also great at) but always remember The Killers recorded the entire Hot Fuss album's vocals using it, and Bon Iver's entire For Emma, Forever Ago was recorded entirely through one SM57. Though lately I mainly have been recording vocals through my AudioTechnica AT2035 ($160) which I love overall for everything. I go back and forth honestly, though for anything live or with a band its my SM57. Honestly, for versatility recording everything under the sun and live performances, the SM57 is not a terrible choice by any means as a starter mic that can go on to be a staple in the arsenal.

In my opinion, frys are a little nastyer for slam, thats how i get the "two bricks rubbing against each other" sound

Just a little while ago justin bonitz did a youtube video on false chords and immitates a dog bark and kinda stretches it out into a full growl. I could already do the sound but it seems like a good way to get it because the common deep sigh method didn't click with me for a while.

Doesn't really sound like a scream at all, it sounds like your just pushing air and constricting the throat a bit but there's no distortion being produced, just air moving.

Like this took me two seconds to replicate and sounds like crap because it's just pushing air, but I guess you're somewhat on the right track because you do need to be able to feel where the different bits in the voice are and how they change the sound (or what stuff hurts or not).

Also I don't know fry screams, so maybe someone could give some actual advice

Kinda the average of how good i can sound, is this good for slightly less than a year doing false chord? (recorded it on a voice note so sadly the quality is non existent)
