Should I?
I mean this gives you all the info you need, they are SXM GPUs. Pretty easy to know what it looks like
well seeing as how i dont know what SXM means off the top of my head, no i dont know what it looks like
Hahaha, Google is free!
(I also wrongly presumed everyone knew what SXM is)
SXM (Server PCI Express Module) is a high bandwidth socket solution for connecting Nvidia Compute Accelerators to a system. Each generation of Nvidia Tesla since the P100 models, the DGX computer series and the HGX boards come with an SXM socket type that realizes high bandwidth, power delivery and more for the matching GPU daughter cards. Nvidi...
Yea I'll definitely Google it, I just don't know what it is off the top of my head
I think I've seen Wendell from level 1 techs mess with something like that
Basically whenever I see a system like that I totally disregard it
I don't, because I know eventually, it will end up on AliExpress or eBay
If you want to know my thought process
I believe those systems come with 4-5 digit price tags
So I determined by the time they became old enough to be "affordable" by me
It would make more financial and power efficiency sense to buy a mid-high end RTX GPU of the latest generation
My server original cost 10-14k when it was launched, cost me like 600 now a few years down the line
admittedly, GPGPUs don't hold as well as CPUs
But if you're interested in more than folding, having NVLink and that much pooled vRAM could be worth it for certain things
What do you search for on eBay
Depends what you are looking for, obviously.
But it's a good idea to research exactly what you are looking for first and just search the model number
i mean, im kinda proving my point
i just searched for supermicro v100 servers
9-18k
searched for much older P100 servers, 3-6k
none of them are the SXM servers though, i dont even know where to begin to search for those specifically
Well yeah they are "expensive", but if you have a workload that needs 50-100+GB vRAM, getting an old server with NVLink is the most cost effective option... Excluding power costs, obviously
howd you get one of these for $600
I didn't say you could
My server runs consumer GPUs because I don't need pooled vRAM
Also remember I'm British, so 600GBP is like 750USD
the v100 sxm2 modules themselves arent too bad really price wise
I wonder if any enterprising Chinese companies have made SXM to PCIe adapter boards...
Seems like the kind of thing they'd do
Thought so
I found a SuperServer 4029GP-TVRT for $1000, just chassis no CPUs GPUs or RAM
uses 2nd gen Intel Scalable
capable of 8 V100 GPUs
That's not terrible, once again, if you need pooled vRAM
can you put more modern SXM GPUs in it?
No, Nvidia change it every gen so you have to buy new servers
ahh
There is OAM, that's starting to get some traction in the industry
I did my degree in networking and systems architecture (HPC, data-centres and super computers) so I like to keep tabs on the industry haha
i just dont see any way this makes sense for folding
even trying to find an empty 8 GPU supermicro server is over $1000
and those generally have Intel 2667 V3's or V4's
i think it would make more sense to buy an empty 3U server for $250, put a first gen epyc and mobo in, and fill it with 4 3060Ti's (which according to folding lar systems is the PPD equivalent of a V100 SXM2)
It doesn't make sense for folding, I always said, repeatedly, that it only makes sense if you need pooled vRAM, which folding does not
The DGX-1 system I use is 149k each brand new.
This is considered to be "outdated" for compute standards. Workplace has both A100's and H100's and we're now working with Nvidia to get GH200 cluster up
I can do that because I work for the admin.
This isn't as easy as you think either. you'd be better off just buying a Rome or Milan EPYC setup, throwing it on a mining rack/frame using pcie extensions for your GPUs. The ASRock boards can accommodate 7 GPUs without anything too fancy, but you can fit more using bifurcation boards to split the 16x slots into two 8x slots for even more GPUs on the system.
The biggest problem with those sxm2 to pcie adapters are cooling them. they only make passive heatsinks for those GPUs so you'll have to rig up fans mounted to them to cool them and you'll need some decently powerful (loud) fans to get it done. Or find some water blocks for them for a more quieter and compact solution.
The one he linked literally had a blower cooler in it
Yeah, do not. I repeat. Do NOT buy that.
The card will over heat and you won't be able to fully use it.
Unless you chop that shitty fan off and throw a better fan on it.
You do know we aren't talking about doing this for folding right...
Folding isn't the only work load that will warm a GPU up.
We, it at least me, are talking about workloads that need pooled memory, and I didn't say to buy that one...
In theory, you could probably buy and find a way to mount either a Titan RTX cooler, or a Morpheus cooler...
But none of this makes sense for finding because there are significantly better options... But, if you cannot live without pooled vRAM, then that is probably the cheapest way to do it.
If you need pool vRAM then one can assume you'll need compute power to work the data in that pooled RAM. that setup will overheat.
You'd be better off buying the sxm2 adapters that don't have the fans built in. Then buying the sxm2 passive heatsinks and mounting your own fans to that.
I don't think you are understanding me...
I'm not saying to buy those adapters, I didn't link it, I didn't look into it. I just said "I wonder if this exists"
I'm saying to cool it, you just use a different heatsink, my ideas were just thoughts. Seeing as I don't know the die in that card Vs in consumer cards. I'm (quite obviously, may I add) "spitballing", although I've never quite understood why we call it that
Then I guess I'm not talking to you then am I?
These are the adapters to buy.
so on folding@home i had the gpu working before, but for some reason its now showing the gpu as unsupported on linux. any idea why?;
Try killing the process and restarting, there's a weird issue where folding starts before the GPU driver on Linux.
who even remembers that this use to be a thing
Folding on my fat PS3 was the first bit of folding I ever did
Didn't do it for very long though because boy could that console pump out the HEAT
at peek iirc it was in pflops of compute power
It was very good for it's time... Even the US airforced bought a bunch of PS3s for a cluster running custom linux.
But, by now, it is woeful and would struggle with most of the WUs out in the wild today
ik i got a condor node atm lol
im still using mine to this day!

do anyone know any place where i can donate my computing powah for this
You want to fold? Just download the software and follow the set up guide
huh, i can do that without a team or whatever?
You are better off asking on the forum for help, I'm(I run the folding team) and the rest of the team are most active there
You can, just won't benefit from earning points and helping the team out
ooh, do you have the guide link?
F@H Installation Guide You can help scientists studying Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and many cancers by simply running a piece of software on your computer. Join others around the world to form the world's largest distributed supercomputer. Spoiler Links to download the software for Windows, macOS...
also that lmg.gg/folding link says team registration is closed
It's a little on the older side, V8 client is different, but the basics apply, the official guide for the new client is this link https://foldingathome.org/guides/v8-3-client-guide/
@hearty rampart Can you fix this?
Both on windows and linux with x86 chips, only CPU on Mac and ARM based systems in general
woah it managed to extract 94 peak wattage out of my poor i5 11400
I can inquire about it. Where do you think it should point, that guide you posted or just the subforum?
Probably the community board tbh, that or the guide, but that guide does need updating
You just type in the team number into the client, 223518
Welcome to the team, if you have any questions post here https://linustechtips.com/topic/902973-folding-community-board/
One of the folding devs is a frequent flyer
This has been copied from the original Community board, it will be updated shortly This will be a place for events within the Folding (and sometimes Boinc) community to be posted. It is also a good place to introduce yourself to the rest of the team and ask questions if you have them. If you have...
alrighty
No, but you need to submit 20WUs to get the bonus points, so it will be very low until then
thanks
oh alright
is it like 20 completed tasks, whats wu
Yes, a WU(Work Unit) is the name for each chunk you complete, each task or whatever wording you prefer
sick sick
my gpu isnt being utilized rn, im on a windows 11 desktop
i didnt see you mention how it is on x64, is it supposed to use?
You need to turn on GPU support generally, I'm not sure how to do it in V8 clients, as I'm a dinosaur and have yet to make the jump...
Perfect time to ask on the thread I linked haha
lol alright
It's been updated
i think i should stop utilizing my cpu 😭 its so inefficent
But your CPU can do work that the GPU can't, and unfortunatly lots of people only run GPUs. There are over 1.2 million CPU WUs in the queue, only around 200k GPU WUs
yeahhh
In in the UK, so can't afford to run my hardware 24/7 these days, especially since I'm back in school now
But I have like 200-230 CPU cores, something like that
is there no way of getting some money to atleast cover the bill of running?
geez
Not really, there are some cryptos that award on the points, but you need to be in their teams and it's so little I would rather support LTT
what happens when we're in ltt team?
Uhhh... We have events and prizes multiple times a year. I run the events, being the team leader
no no i meant the technical side of it, not the user facing
The points get awarded to the team, and the team does very well
When I took over the team we weren't even in the top 15, now we are in second place
https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s= (Default is any points produced without a team, and we don't count them in rankings)
Not between teams for folding, although I'd like to set that up when I have some free time at some point.
I need to relearn making databases, did in university... 12 years ago, and then ended up being a social worker
dang
is there any games or sumthin rn? i heard in the veritasium's video that there was at some point
Games?
Ohhh... Not for the FaH project, but there are other folding projects beside FaH, so maybe there is further afield
He covered computational dynamic molecular protein simulation, basically the technology in general, not this specific project
gotcha
My knowledge is mostly limited to FaH on the project side, but I know a great deal about the technology generally
It all depends on the WU, some take only a little time, others can take multiple hours to even multiple days
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1596649-boinc-sprint-2025/
BTW, the BOINC team, which is similar to folding at home but covers more fields of science, are having their first event next week.

WUs come in pairs(to make sure the results are correct, if they come back different, they get re-issued), and no pair is the same
considering the new ai model have found over 200 million protein, and like veritasium said, it being almost all of the proteins ever
what exactly are we rendering rn? is it synthetic proteins?
So the AI finds proteins, but you need to model how it functions, how it works, how drugs interact with it, that's what we are doing
Not at all, every new drug, every new virus, every variable needs to tested
so single addition of test subject basically restarts the count? 😂
or is it even bigger of a thing like adding another multiplier
so it becomes... 1x1x1x1x1 and then you add another x1 with a new protein or so
Let's say you are a researcher and you believe a certain condition, let's day, free serotonin in the brain causes X protein to fold incorrectly and cause a health issue...
How do you test that, seeing as you probably shouldn't be cutting into peoples brain... You run sims
We do a mix of supporting work, to validate others findings, such as helping with teh development of the Oxford/Astrazenica Vaccine for COVID, or we do moonshots, where someone things they may have the nect piece in the puzzle for things like cancer, neurological conditions or anything else
oh so we dont just run a bunch of tests randomly, someone has to suggest it
Yeah, they have to be suggested, then modeled, then they are reviewed for urgency, there are people who wait multiple years to get their project computed
man istg, we need to get more people to help with this, this is so bright
did ltt do a video about folding already?
But you have to have a MD or PDh, or studying for one to even submit a project
They've done a few, they always flop
🥺
this is the single most important thing ive heard that can be supported so easily
so all of this queue, it rarely gets completely done?
So... During very large folding events, like the covid ones, we did exhaust the WU queue(the assignment servers ran out of caches WUs), but never the project queue
Right I've got an assignment due on wednesday, so need to get on with it.
Any other questions, the forum board is the best place to ask. But you can post them here, or DM me and I will get back to you if no one does when I'm free
alright awesome, tyvm
the COVID folding rush was wild
What exactly is this?
simulating protein interactions with other proteins and material
#folding-and-boinc message
this vid explains it very well as well
also shows its bright future on some of world's biggest problems
including easier treatment for many diseases, or even any sort of treatment for those that dont exist yet
Big boi biology
yes but its simple in theory
Maaan, our HVAC system is on the fritz so I have to stop all my folding
I wonder what it would take to ruggedize a folding PC so I could run it outdoors
Add some fan holes with the usual vent covers to stop rain getting in and dust filters and off you go
That’s it, going on the project list
Hahaha. Happy I could help! This folding team leader is here to assist all folding needs
Unless it's clothes... Then I will ask "Do I look like your mother?"
See if you get black orchid inline duct fans in your region. They are great and last forever. Could replace the air in that box every 10-20 secs for quite cheap
possible to watercool it and send the tubes outside the box?
You would need fans for the rad rating for all weather... And obviously both situations need to consider freezing if that's something that happens in your region. But, in theory, no reason why you couldnt
whats a average PPD for a 7900xtx?
F@H Radeon RX 7900XT/XTX/GRE performance as of 3/8/2025. Averages across all projects PPD:5,480,458 - Work Units Per Day:13.81, performance history and more.
Looks like 6-6.5 mil
To note, AMD HIP development for folding is in the works, this will likely at least double the PPD of modern AMD cards
Hard to tell looking at the average because the XT and XTX are lumped together
Expected late Q2 to early Q4 2025
Ohh that will be really good
Very much so. I would like to stop giving Nvidia my money
With all the bad stuff going on with Nvidia ive started recommending AMD cards to all my friends
I've been doing that since 3000 series
Do you need a XX90... No... Then just go AMD
I was originally building a system that was supposed to have either a 4080 or 5080, now it's getting a 9070xt
Harder sell for FaH and to a lesser degree for BOINC. But getting ROCm support through HIP.
HIP works on Nvidia cards too... But no idea on how it compares to native CUDA. But if it is remotely close, we could see unified WUs for the two biggest players for the first time in a while
I've been considering replacing my Nvidia farm, most of them, with AMD cards. I need to get my hands on a 9070 XT and see if I can get zluda working so I'm not alienating myself from the cuda only projects.
Best of luck to you!
Being relatively financially limited. It is likely I will be running my 3 4070tis for a while. Especially after needing to do an unplanned platform upgrade due to my CPU dying. A first for me, I must admit
Well my p100s arent doing all that great. I mostly only bought them for the FP64 compute they have for the GPU subproject at Milkyway, but since that project ended they just aren't really worth it to run anymore.
It's either going to be AMD replacements or possibly just going with V100s. The current market for Nvidia gaming cards is just stupid. I'm not giving Nvidia my money for what they've done.
Pascal, while truly the GOAT, is just too old at this point for continuous work
My 1080ti was my gaming GPU until I got the 4070s.
I had 20 series cards, a couple 2060s and a 2070... But I honestly didn't need ray tracing, and getting a card that out performed by 1080ti was too costly. I'm a 1080p person, although I did last year move to a UWFHD display.
I decided to swap my aging fleet of Pascal and Turing cards for just 3 4070 tis, and a remaining P4000 I was using for getting more display outs(I have 5 displays)
Ah another multiple monitor user I see. I got 6 monitors. lol 3x 1080P monitors and 3x 4k monitors. Granted I have two desktops at my desk and one desktop handles the 3x 4k displays and the other desktop handles the 3x 1080P monitors. 4k setup is my main gaming setup while the 1080P is my monitoring, content watching setup.
4 monitors here
Respectable
This is all on one desktop. Unfortunately it gets far too warm in here with two
2 1920x1200 (one vertical), 1 2560x1440 high refresh rate (Main), 1 4k TV
But I also always have my phone and my tablet sits below my monitor for YouTube/music/etc
My layout
ohh
the vertical monitor is off
for some reason when that one particular monitor turns off it disconnects from the computer
some kind of HDMI deep sleep i think
Yeah, I thought about using a single desktop for all of them but when I'm in the middle of a game it's not always easy to tab out so I can do something on another monitor. So I just setup a second desktop. My monitors are just 3 wide by 2 tall with the 1080P monitors sitting above the 4k monitors. I have the mouse/keyboard for the second desktop on the right "L" portion of my desk. It works great for what I mostly use it for which is just watching Twitch streams while I'm playing/gaming on the computer and leaving some monitoring software on one of the other screens so I can easily glance to make sure nothing hasn't kicked the bucket. lol
My UW does that too
Yeah I get that. I can't remember the last time I played a game, so I'm rarely if ever in that situation.
And when when I play games, RuneScape, ftl, prison architect, my most played games, can be run in ways where I don't have to tab out per se
I used to have 2 "desktops" (one was a docked ThinkPad) for that reason when I did play games more frequently
im getting 7.2M currently
i always see nvidia fanboys saying "i dont care about price to performance" but unless youre buying the 90 series card its clearly not true
Yep, that was exactly my point. Unless you really need the 90 card, OR you have a workload that needs Nvidia, such as folding as it stands right now. AMD makes the most sense on Price/Perf
I'm not sure how power efficiency stands up these days. I'm out of the loop on modern AMD cards and modern Nvidia cards in perf/watt. Because, I use cards to fold, and Nvidia is 2-4x better PPD/watt so AMD currently makes no sense for me
yeah my 7900xtx is only getting like 1/2 the ppd of a 4080 but im guessing thats down to fah being more designed for cuda
mine is using like 240 watts getting 7.2M PPD
We are working on AMD HIP support. Which would bring ROCm support to folding for the first time.
It would likely mean a 2-4x in performance while having only a small increase in power.
Beta WUs are hoped to be out sometime between the end of Q2 to the start of Q4...
Timelines on that are obviously not absolute as it is a volunteer development project. Nvidia paid for the development of CUDA support
sounds fancy
I get 12.5-13m PPD at around 200-250w on a 4070ti
HIP is supposed to be universal. That being, the same code can be complied for either CUDA or ROCm(And I imagine Intel GPUs in future)
arent they working on something that allows CUDA to be ran on AMD?? i remember hearing something about that
That has been a thing for awhile, thanks to SCALE, but it isn't as performant. So FaH decided, if they are going to put time and effort into an AMD solution, they may as well do it properly.
This isn't low precision math, it needs to be correct first, and fast second
so you remember Spectrum i was having issues downloading WU's on my desktop system with FAH V8?
well i just downloaded the latest version (8.4.9) and it still seems to be broken
at this point it clearly cant be the client, there must be some issue with my system setup
but i have no idea what it could be
Does V7 work?
What are your specs?
v7 works perfectly
ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI
AMD 9800 X3D @5.45GHz
32GB G.Skill DDR5 6000 CL30
Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4080 @Stock
Hmm... Nothing weird there then
Have you reached out to muz on the forum? He's a FaH beta software tester
DNS lookup failed for cores2.foldingathome.org
22:46:36:E :Exception: No response
hold on i see someone got it working by connecting to a hotspot, i can usb tether my internet connection from my phone as a test
i just noticed this, it looks like its confusing some config options from v7
you happen to know where the config file is located on windows?
one sec, I was in there the other day
C:\ProgramData\FAHClient
that directory is literally in my log
hahaha
so the usb tether didnt help, but i found another thing im trying
well ill be, that was it
yayyyyy
ive been fighting that since before the last month long folding sprint
Lmfaooo
i could have SWORN at one point i did a total nuke of V7 before installing V8
i guess i missed deleting that config file
Yeah, it doesn't delete the Program data file when you uninstall
The idea being, when you reinstall, it will just work
i thought there was a checkbox that said delete preferences
ohh i still have v7 installed actually
It's all in the wording...
Delete preferences
current estimated PPD is 19.3mil and still climbing
hang on im going to try and update my linux machine to 8.4
hmm, looks like it updated but no work is being done
i also cant open NVTOP or nvidia-smi on the system
Failed to initialize NVML: Driver/library version mismatch
NVML library version: 550.144
That notification made me crap my keks. I've hit the chuff and I'm wee bit zonked. Ken?
last i was here it was 23
24 been out in the wild for a little bit now
Iirc core 26 is out now... One sec let me Google
my 4080 is working on a 23
Yeah, some projects and their successor projects will stay on the same core. Potentially spanning multiple years
well i got everything going atleast, ready for the summer folding sprint

@hearty rampart any chance for a pin on this?
Hello all.
My BOINC installation seems to have completely borked. I... can't install BOINC, nor can I uninstall it, ironically because of the exact same error both ways.
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BOINC.msi' in the box below.
Use source: C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations{5ABBFE77-CD7A-4A64-9A53-C47494545F09}\
Hmm... You are probably better asking this in tech support. Seems more like a windows issue than a BOINC issue
Will post it there, thanks.
No worries at all... I'm mostly a Linux user these days. So I have no idea how to help you. Sorry about that
Hey it's the thought that counts, I appreciate the time nevertheless.
@solar basin This is our home
Nice house. I'll be following this topic/thread.
is there a way to make FAH have a low power mode of sorts without having to manually set my power limit?
For GPU or CPU?
GPU
Short answer: No
Long answer: Yes* (There is no way to do it in the client. But you can use Nvidia smi to do it with a script)
It’s weird seeing nvidia-smi with the power cap and process view actually working
Really? Except for that error earlier it's always worked for me, I just wish my power limit persisted between reboots
ill just manually do it with msi afterburner i guess, i left it running and i woke up to it being hot as linus in here
Just use task scheduler or whatever similar program
If i have a handful of computers that i would like to fold with what would be the best way to manage them? Im i able to remotely control each system through folding@home from a separate system or would i need to set up something with proxmox so i could assign work to each one?
V8 client natively pulls all days from machines on the same land with the same account details
So as long as they are each running on my network i can control them?
Yes
Sadly the nvidia-smi support for Fermi is pretty limited… and Tesla for that matter
nvidia-smi works fine for my tesla cards
lol to the noti for that one
Lucky 😦

Hope you enjoy this event, were trying to make it more fun
Hey now...I resemble that remark!
I'll help you out...I predate ISPs.
Was I public with my age this year? I don't remember
I know we had the birthday bash. You might've mentioned it then, but my memory is useless for those sorts of specifics these days.
No worries haha
@dim dust Invader!!! 🤣
Yo, anyone having issues getting WUs for milkyway? none of my machines have any at the moment
I figured it out, for some reason my boinstats settings are preventing it asking for new cpu tasks, but I can't figure out what boincstats setting is doing it.
Attention all fairy tale things... The BOINC Pent has a GPU project coming up... Help us out, let us show the Pent what the 2nd best ranked FaH Team can do. Please, I am making a personal request for everyone to get involved, it is only 3 days, and we need every GPU we can get @TheLANguy Can we g...
has f@h run out of work?
been running f@h for years with no issue but a month or 2 ago i stopped getting cpu WUs and even more recently my gpus also stopped getting work...
any help/insights are appreciated
I just recently started using F@h and I've been getting work whenever I want
Work units are limited to hardware, older HW has less available work, so it is possible for them to run out over the weekend
Though in this case, it seems more likely to be a network issue
any ideas?
ive read dns could be an issue and i use a pihole for my dns server but nslookup works fine for the assignment domains
and yeah hw speed shouldnt be an issue, my 5800x/3080ti system doesnt get any assignments either
Can you ping you the server in CMD/term?
Forgot to reply ^^
yup
not yet for my big x86 machines... but i just installed it again fresh on my macbook and it does the same thing
Weird...
If you can ping, but the client doesn't have access... That would infer that there is some software issue that is forbidding the client to access the server. It could be a port issue, firewall limitation, or some other system... Can you tether your phone to the macbook to isolate it from your usual network?
tethered to my quadro client, restarted the fah-client service and... it got an assignment
So now we know the issue is 100% something on your network config, I can't help you anymore than that, you'll have to investigate
yeah ill take a look
thanks tho
have to figure out why the fah assignment server throws the "no appropriate assignment" error answer
No worries, I'm the folding team leader btw. If you, or anyone else needs a hand, feel free to tag me 🙂
alright, cool
will remember that

hi, i dont get any task i boinc tha last 10 days.
I have listed this projects:
BOINC Central
Einsein
LHC
Milkyway
RNA
Rosetta
WCG
Still no work to be downloaded
Hello,
Have you tried manually updating the projects?
Aw, I missed the folding sprint 😦
So, my 9070 XT folds way better than the 5700 xt, but still much worse than Nvidia do.
We don't have AND HIP/ROCm support yet for AMD cards
But it's in the alpha state rn
Finally!
I've heard it's "a big improvement but not as big as CUDA"
yooooooooo
wazzupppp
does anyone know how i can get nfs 2012 for free
im broke
😭
No, and #rules 5
Hi, it feels so good to see a specific channel for BOINC. About 2 weeks ago, I've started contributing to Rosetta@home and World Community Grid, on several old devices and current devices (when they're being charged only) including a 2007 MDG Aptonbook (this might be nostalgic for some of us Millennial Canadians 😂) and it feels rewarding being a digital volunteer and putting old devices to good and humane causes
A thing called internet also rule 5
Well thats not ideal.

hey everyone - cruncher here - and a long time LTT viewer - I do have a ery important question i needed to ask about boinc and folding for what im trying to set up on all my systems - but i cant rember it now as still waking up propelly - so just a hi to everyone and at the LMG / LTT comminity 🙂 - ill ask the boinc stuff soon as i remember it lol
also hopefully this is not considererd self promotion - as i certainlly dont own it i just use it and works for me - but if you crucch its defo worth having a look at Gridcoin too - as you can earn a bit of pocket money back from crunching and folding as well from that - unless your like crypto allergic then ignore that lol - works for me though anyway 🙂
just sharing the love lol so if that is considered to ad like or self promotion or anything - feel free to delete it - but i do feel people should get something back from the crunching and folding anyway so i always tell people about both lol - boinc and gridcoin as they really are one thing now to me lol
ooh i remember my question now too lol - do you know if there is any way to make one project ONLY use the CPU - and a second one ONLY use the GPU and not the cpu? - so i can properlly splt the load up - i noticed even the gpu ones use at least 1 cpu
i dont know if there is a way to have it say 1 gpu and 0 cpus
welp, i'm not the super expert, but all projects i've seen want to allocate at least 1 CPU thread for each GPU work unit
it will say like (1 Nvidia GPU + 0.375 CPU core)
i've definately gone to the project website and set it to give me GPU tasks, but not CPU tasks, and that should get you 1 GPU and as close to 0 CPU as is feasible
I just assumed it was to handle the upload/download/preprocessing steps needed to feed the GPU the code it needs to process
can i run folding at home on a pi 5
i think they removed ARM support a while ago
Yes but it's limited returns, about 30k points a day I believe
Compared to my b580/rx6700xt those are producing roughly 2.5million points a day each
better than nothing, or no not really?
Better than nothing, I generally run my Pis when a sprint or the yearly event happens on the ltt forums.
Can I mention a new f@h crypto here? You need to change folding name to earn it but you can stay on LTT folding team with it
Not much to lose, im not here to ask you to spend a penny on it.
Here's my hot-take: attaching a crypto coin to folding/number crunching projects is a smoothbrain idea and should be shamed.
Didnt grid coin absolutely tank
Anyway, today I did some folding and I was dumb to OC and my GPU crashed so had to hard reset and so my WU finished at 80% and then later I manually stopped a new WU at 50% because I wanted to do smt else, was fun trying F@H on my 5080 tho
Agree to disagree
Well anyway i know LTT community is not that friendly to crypto and the amount of scams out there creates a high apathy towards crypto too
I am involved in the project so please just delete this msg and dont ban me if this is too far of a self-promo. I do lurk around here time to time and i do want to keep lurking. Thanks.
I thought i mention it because all you need to do is a new folding name and a metamask wallet and you can keep folding under LTT without spending a single penny on it. Dont have to install anything questionable.
I wont even link it here, if anybody have a slight interest or questions you will find our discord too
Google - DrDoge PulseChain
Sidenote: I have been folding for almost 10 years
Here's my ~~hot-~~take: attaching a crypto coin to folding/number crunching projects is a smoothbrain idea and should be shamed.
That made my day
I'm specifically involved in folding/BOINC over any kind of crypto mining because there is no profit motive, so there's no reason to try to exploit my folding rig to nab a wallet or whatever because there isn't one
the easy counter argument is that someone could still try to turn distributed computing nodes into a botnet
Here's a fact, crypto is and always will be a pyramid scheme

From checking LAR's site, it looks like the 8700G gets about 159,696 points per day. This is very good for a CPU, however, GPUs tend to perform much better with the same amount of electricity. I couldn't find numbers for the other CPUs.

mainly because my home office was too cold
needed some warmth 🙂
Passkey and account/points is linked to Username+Email, right? So no way to "change email"?
how much does running on an igpu boost ppd?
To my knowledge you cannot run F@H on an iGPU
And if you were able to, I doubt it would be much of an increase
sorry i meant running my computer on an iGPU so the entirety of the dGPU can be dedicated to F@H
oooh
I'm not sure, but that would very likely help
I do that on my Linux folding system

Sup all.. just found out about this on the forum. Will be catching up
its 42F outside so folding is basically free heat
my gtx 645 in my server desktop is getting a whopping 30k PPD
yep. When the inverter in our heat pump failed a few weeks ago I just set the temperature way up so that the pump would at least run to spread the remaining heat around in the house and just let folding@home run 24/7 on my 4070Ti for like a week. Free heat baby! Mom even approved of it once I explained that it was going towards science and that I was not just letting my PC run for nothing. It got fixed last week and I've been able to turn off folding without freezing
My 4070Ti gets way over 1m PPD xD
my 7900xtx gets 5.8M currently but i know AMD isnt very efficient on FAH
ooh, nice! I'm not even sure if it's 1m or 10m PPD. There's too many digits without any seperators (' for example)
althought it seems to be creeping up slowly somehow its almost at 6 million
its probably 10 million
AMD is like 1/2 as optimized as nvidia i think i heard someone say a while back on FAH
Then it must've been between 10m and 13m PPD. Unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work on my laptop, it only recognized the iGPU and that can't be folded on, it can only fold on the CPU and it's barely faster than your GTX 645 haha. The 1660Ti in it would be pretty decent
my ryzen 5 3500 is at 53k PPD with 5 cores runnig out of 6 on the other pc
It would be cool to get into the LTT leaderboards but LTT has so many people with more powerful hardware that have run it for so long that I just cannot compete, so I ususally fold for PCWelt's team where I can actually get decently high in the leaderboards haha. A good chunk of my progress was done in 2020 during the lockdown on my loud ass Dell G5 5090 with an RTX 2060 where I actually used to fold on the CPU and GPU
my room temp has gone up like 6 degrees already
Noice! I just started up folding@home again and I can verify that it's in fact 10m ppd
after like 5 years ive finally reached 5k wus
recently expanded my small fleet with an a2000 and it sped things up quite a bit

bless
Is this what our folding is going to specfically for Team LTT? is there significance why this was selected if so?
better make sure my stuff still works
so my linux client is working
actually its doing 3.3mil ppd which is more than i remember the old 1080ti being able to do
but my windows client cant seem to DL a WU
i dont get it, im pretty sure i havent changed anything since the last folding sprint
hmm, i reinstalled (8.4.9) and now it seems to be working
well as long as it works
Do you see them both on the same passkey panel? I just set mine up today but I see there is a tab for devices
here is where I mean:
It's your choice which cause your compute should go towards. No matter what cause you select, both you and Team LTT earn points as we work to support science!
First time folding after considering a few times, I'm looking forward to seeing where I get on the LTT ranking by the time folding month is over
whats the PPD of a 1070 if anyone knows?
Welcome! Glad to have you on the team.
About 1,680,595 PPD.
https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/overall_ranks
thanks i didnt know that was a thing
Nearly forgor to sign up 💀
Is it actually bad to make your own passkey? I made my own when installing/signing up and started using it. Then I saw in the FAQ a link to generate one, which is different than the one I made
I saw a random post saying it was bad but didn't explain why
things are logging so i'm assuming it's good
It's not bad, just don't give it to anyone since it's access to your account. And make sure you're getting points for your account/Team LTT.
you can check that quickly here https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ or at https://stats.foldingathome.org/
Folding@home Statistics
Yeah looks like those numbers are going up. Thank you!
Didn’t realize how much more ppd you get by running Linux
dang, too bad i'm not ready to switch over yet
From my experience, a fresh Windows install running only F@H is about the same.
I'm just having fun climbing the LTT leader board and seeing the future estimates of where I'll land after the month is up
how will running linux compare to running a decently clean windows install with a gpu overclock?
Might come out equal but you'd be paying for it in power. Check LAR for numbers for your specific card

a little late but im folding
my blower 1070 only increases by 10k ppd by going from 70% power limit to 100% and is way louder
yea i usually derate to 80% power
got my 4080 at 80% and my 1080ti reduced from 250 to 225w limit in linux
Oh snap. It's that time again.
i'm just letting my 3060 go as is
I goofed and missed the signup. Was there anything more to it than just joining the LTT Team in the F@H Web Control?

yay I just barely made the top 50% of folders on day 1
im not seeing a link to the google doc on the forum post
ahh found it at the top, half of it was cut off on my browser for some reason
not super familar with the forum, but it seems the "solved" post thing only shows a bit of the post and you need to visit that post to see everything
20.69 million points, nice. Just need 400 more million now
i really like btop
woo moved up 7 spots
Yep! I use the solved post to direct people to the latest daily blog post. Otherwise it gets lost in all of the other discussion.
26mil today
Is it feasible/worth throwing multiple old GPUs into an old computer to fold with? I just remembered I have two 960s, a 1080 and an old i5 5600 build sitting in the closet basically ready to go lol
I haven't set up multiple graphics cards on a computer before but I'm sure I could make it a weekend project
setting up multiple GPUs is fun, especially figuring out the PCI Slot and PCI Power setup
the picture i posted on 11/2 is actually my old 1080Ti folding
my only suggestion is with a CPU as old as the i5-5600 you disable CPU folding completely, GPU WU's require 1-2 threads for EACH GPU and that CPU only has 4 total so you are already behind the 8-ball
(btw i actually couldnt find the specs on an i5-5600 did you mean i5-6500?)
Thanks! I just double checked and it's an i5-6600k
4 cores like you said, so I'll disable folding on the cpu. Now I need to find someplace to put the computer tower in the apartment lol
i did this for one of the folding sprints
the big card was a 660 Ti
smaller cards were P106-90's
turns out old bitcoin mining cards make pretty good folding cards
and used they are basically worthless
i see 1080 ones for like 40$ on ebay
i turned my 7900xtx off silent mode and it went up like 2.8 million PPD this thing really doesnt like low power settings, its only like 30 more watts
hey any idea on how this happens?
Looks like you got a big WU. It happens from time to time.
How are your room temperatuers looking so far? Mine are pretty out of control if I don't open my windows at least twice per day. I'm excited to see how well I'll end up doing as this is my first folding month. My hope is that I'll make it to the top 50 and it would be awesome if I could get a prize but I assume my hardware isn't good enough for that
It's been in the mid 40-50s here outside and pretty cold inside. I've turned the heater on a couple times lol. But the two PCs are in a decently large living room/kitchen area. This weekend I'm going to set up a PC in the office and I think that might get me toasty. We'll see
I'm averaging between 2-4F warmer in my PC room than the rest of the house
only pulling 350w total with a 3060 though
That's very convenient! My PC just blows towards the wall, the window is a good two meters away from my PC, so I just open the window for 10 minutes every 6h or so. I also turned my thermostat all the way down but the PC still overpowers the amount of heat I lose at a normal temp
Dang looks like I'll just be dropping on the monthly ranking the whole month. At least my rank on the LTT team and overall ranking is going up at a good pace
I'm just continuously climbing a couple ranks at a time. I missed day 1 but now I'm 100th
i made it to 81 :D. peaked at 79 a on day 3
shooting for top 40
I'm going to shoot for 75. I'd be stoked if I can hit 50 though. We'll see after I set up the second PC this weekend.
back to 79. top 75 here i come

Ok
lol so i finally got my extra computer up and running with ubuntu server.. spent the last 40min running in circles trying to figure out why the fah client wasn't connecting to my existing account/wasn't running... then finally noticed i brainfarted my config file and wrote <config/> instead of </config>
oh man thats the worst
i remember having a hard time with my config file when i set up my fah on ubuntu server
now i'm seeing my GPUs aren't supported :( is that just drivers missing or really not supported?
21:54:49:I3:gpus = {
21:54:49:I3: "gpu:01:00:00": {"vendor": 4318, "device": 7298, "type": "nvidia", "supported": false, "description": "GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti] 2138"},
21:54:49:I3: "gpu:02:00:00": {"vendor": 4318, "device": 5121, "type": "nvidia", "supported": false, "description": "GM206 [GeForce GTX 960] 2308"}
but my issue was i couldnt figure out my problems until i realized i was using 7.4x config options on a 8.4x client
i fell down that path of following instructions for a 7.4x config file too lol
im running a 1080 Ti right now
hmm
what drivers do you have installed
no idea. whatever defaulted with a fresh ubuntu install
this is the headless ubuntu server correct?
yeah
it has nothing for nvidia
install nvidia-driver-580-server
install nvidia-opencl-dev
and reboot
yes you HAVE to reboot....
this should also come with nvidia-smi, a very useful tool
old 1080 Ti does about 3mil ppd on avg, not bad
if you want i can also give a really nice looking monitoring tool
its been awhile since i set it up but im pretty sure thats all you need
i only have 2 lines in my entire config.xml and it works perfectly
account-token
machine-name
hmm seems like the installs worked but getting this
i'm going to reboot again..
seems like it might be related to secureboot..
bingo
hmm well almost. still says unsupported
your nvidia drivers arent on
the smi you linked seems fine though
journalctl -b | grep -iE 'nvidia|nouveau'
what does this output?
ooo got it
nice, what was it
very nice
yea i kinda assumed the first thing you did was do a full apt update and apt-dist upgrade
also apt-get is depreciated you should probably get out of the habit of using it
ah good to know. i never really knew the difference between apt-get and apt, i usually switch back and forth using one or the other
looks cool doesnt it
yeah that's nice. thanks for the recommendation. i feel like i had seen people talk about this but never installed it before
i don't use linux a ton. i dabble randomly with it. my main server is runing it as a VM on proxmox, but really it's just used to host all my docker stuff
thank you so much for your help by the way. i really appreciate it.
np 👍
I'm curious what the most PPD someone is getting on a single PC
i think i was getting ~9/day on my 3080Ti and that's with me pausing it for several hours a day to game
that was the first few days. i've added a couple more PCs since then
I only get 2.8 mil PPD on my 3060, there seems to be a huge jump in what higher end or newer gpus can do
to be fair i get 3 mil on my 1080 Ti, but it also pulls 250w while the 3060 Ti is around 150w
MY 4070Ti is about 13m PPD, didn't expect a 4080 to be almost twice as fast
the LTT forum is down :(
Strong Bad makes a techno song.
The system is down
Quite a long down-time
Stobin going too hard for folding month 🤣
Rip forum
Okay, who was trying to fold with the LTT webservers? 🤣 Is that Stobin's really secret?
lol lany guy switches again!!!!!! also trying to fix why ssd is over heating on a tr pc.....
Geeze, still down. @solar basin at this rate you won't have to blog today

Wow, going on 12 hours now that the site's been down. Maybe they need to post to the tech support channel here, lol
Sad part is, I've been keeping up with forum posts each afternoon post-work. Got home last night, didn't check because I was exhausted, and then I look this morning and I see "6 new posts", click it, and... poof. Leaving things unread, when I'm actively interested/invested, gives me anxiety. x_x

I do what I want
It's back up now
Oh hell, trying to reply to RetroTechie and the forums stopped loading…
same, I found the exact problem I think he's having
His 5070 is pooping all over the place?
It's an impressive 450+GB poop in his logs
From what I found online, sounds like could just be he needs to reseat the GPU and blow out the PCIe slot. Dust or something in it
A correction message per detected error, can easily run that, yup.
yea I found this for Ubuntu https://itsfoss.com/pcie-bus-error-severity-corrected/
Thought it might be that and/or riser cable and/or lower the PCIe gen
dozens of errors every 1/10000th of a second… oof. Surprised the system could even write errors that fast.
Luckily linux is quick to reinstall if that's not the issue
Uh oh... I was about to post the blog...
Common causes include:
- PCIe power-saving link states (ASPM) causing instability.
- A flaky PCIe connection (dusty slot, slightly unseated card).
- A device that is negotiating a marginal link (PCIe Gen3/Gen4 downtraining).
- Motherboard firmware/BIOS AER bug.
@reef oak look what you did
We all know it was you
no one can confirm or deny that
I bet we see an uptick in his folding on the next 3hr update lol
Hopefully Retrotechie finds his way to this Discord server if the forums aren't back up soon. Hate that the forums went down right when trying to figure out what is wrong with his system.
I should have put out a PACE plan before it went down again 📻
hindsight 20/20 and all that…
Aaannd it's up
Daily stats are live. I've added the blog to the sheet too. Just in case! 🙂
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DqHP-Y_tFULjUfsTTYH1AfvT3GjHVSBo-qKu9Y98m1Y/edit?usp=sharing
Ngl, not sure the old PowerEdge T320 is worth it on this one. x_x
That's the power of about 3 Raspberry Pi 5s
power of 2 treadrippers 2990wx,1950x, ryzen 6 core. 2 2080s,2070,1650, if i cannot get the rx440,50 and 60(amd ) to work with folding. i will then let to crunch on ltt prime grid team~
I'm sure those Pis are much more energy efficient. I really want to find a cheap local-only solution (HA integrated way) to monitor power draw from different devices.
You and I both 🤣 it's one of those things I keep forgetting to look up
EmonPi?
never heard of it, I think I'd just need some zigbee wall plugs
I've got some smart plugs that monitor power consumption and I flashed them with Tasmota. After calibrating them with a multimeter and clamp meter, they seem pretty accurate. Tasmota then feeds the stats to HA over MQTT.
yay I gained another spot on the event ranking. Wonder if I can crawl back to the top 50%, need to move up 12 more spots.
i was at 31
kinda hope i can hold top 30
but i dont think i can unless someone above drops out
What plugs are you using? I have some Sylvania smart plugs that I flashed with esphome, but they don't support measuring power consumption (they do act as remote relay switches, however).
I'm still aiming for 69th overall at the end of the event.
I have some of these Wyze ones for outside. Can be flashed with Tasmota, but its a pain and you gotta solder the pins to the board during flashing. https://a.co/d/iLSVLpt
These Sonoff ones are great for indoor use and easier to flash. https://a.co/d/fOgbq4k
SONOFF S31 is a small and lightweight US standard Wi-Fi smart plug with power monitoring function. It has passed ETL certification and has reached the indispensable safety and reliability standards that smart plugs must possess, and has overload protection function. Regardless of which you use, have to calibrate it after flashing for power metering to be accurate.

... I may have ordered some (Sonoff).
Behold this unholy thing. Nvidia... AMD... All in one snug little docker container.
nvm back up, he isn't as good at sabotage
Cloudflare is having issues
Is there a local address to control folding at home on mac as remote is down due to cloud flare
Yep
i see languy busy un pluging lan cables!
This is the problem with Cloudflare being everywhere. Everything is so... centralized.
still blaming cbigfoot :p
a bit to.
now I wish I was back on V7 lol
for anyone with a mac. that cant control your F@h instance - just foud this and was able to pause mine - https://github.com/lukemmtt/FAHMenuBar?tab=readme-ov-file
Thanks for that, looks like it's back up
Of course it would haha, well atleast its there for next time
right??? Good thing to keep in your pocket
If you have node/npm installed, you can also run the web-client locally: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-web-client-bastet
That would have been helpful 2 hours ago hahaha
Eh, it'll happen again eventually, and then we'll all know. I scoured Github for a v8 local web client, only to not find anything but the official client itself. Found some older v7 projects. Really wish there was a simply "+Add Device" type interface, as this only connect to localhost. Might tinker with it.
In case anyone wants to poke around with said tinkering.
Folding with limited Hotspot data due to internet down . Fun for second time
we all know it was you
Nuh uh!
Damn cleaner unplugged the forum again
Could be lead confused him
@fading hound apparently started folding with the servers CPU again. 😏
DAng it @fading hound
👀

How else am I supposed to pass you I slipped your ups mfg $1.
It's a shame no 5070Ti showed up at my door...just saying
i see no one thinking big... be a shame if i change user name and pass word setting on sobin folding beast to my name and password.
Okay wait, it's still not back up??
Nope. Total cut to fiber line so bad it on day 3 atm
Anyway it appears holdsquat's invasion has been halted (hold and squatted)
It's been back for a bit now yay
Good on hold thing!
hacker
Cbig and languy. I see you trying to cut my cables!!!
I don't run folding on my CPU, it's way too inefficient. Draws 200W for like 100k PPD
lol all the P-cores are essentially not doing anything while the E-cores are really hard at work
What cpu you got
It's right in the screenshot lol. It's a 12700K with a lifted 4.8 all-core over the stock 4.7
Intel cpus suck for folding as the ecores suck at folding. My fathers 14700k on gets 200k
I can't remember the true PPD, I've rarely ever folded on that CPU
Lemme test it rq, I'm gonna start one WU
The first percent is always really slow, my estimated ppd is 22k haha. It'll surely go up however
It's drawing 170W rn. Together with my GPU my rig is now pulling 420W, the GPU is pretty erratic though drawing anywhere between 230 and 280W, averaging 250W
It's at 809k PPD at the moment while my 4070Ti is at 11m
finally got my folding set up again, joined the LTT team too
Nice, nice!
1 more week and I'll break 100mil and top 4,000 on the LTT team
Nice job on 180th!
i've had an ethernet cord stretched across my office and my cat finally found it and started chewing it

I've enjoyed this folding month, but I'm looking forward to giving my PC a good dusting for the first time in too long, swapping the mostly likely almost dead UPS batteries out, and rearranging my room some.
Yep. My dust filters have certainly done their job, they're pretty full now. I'm gonna give my GPU a well-deserved break when it's over, then I'm gonna send it again with my new 1440p screen haha
My Fractal Pop air does a pretty good job of keeping dust out considering it has a perforated front panel
hmm the end time at the link to convert to your timezone doesn't seem correct. It says Dec 6 5:59 EST
oh well I'll wait for the blog post
Roughly 30mins till done
ok that's what my other research showed
Oh but it'll also be awhile for the blog @hybrid fog , last blog usually takes longer so I wouldn't expect it tonight
ah ok, thanks
dang I had some long ass work units going, 5.5h and 10.5 hours ago. So a weak finish it looks like, depending on how the extreme overclocking stats line up with the competition stats
Pball. Same for me last few days of even 1 day cpu wu and 8 hour gpu ones.

I'm curious, you mentioned I don't disclose my setup for folding.
But I've posted my exact setup several times in here.
Is there somewhere I'm supposed to put it on the forum?
you could toss it in a build log maybe? I know I just keep mine in my signature block
Sorry I missed it!
Well I mean it's usually in response to someone asking something related
So not structured
man, this sucks, it's December and i'm having to pause folding because I don't want to sleep when it's 26+ in my room
Is it really any surprise I got into protein folding as a hobby?

Happy new year folding folks! I thought that it would be fun to take a look back what the folding team did in 2025! The team ended the year with 3,652,326,473,088 points and 49,666,071 WUs! do people still use folding@home? jesus
Yep! LTT has the biggest Folding@Home team.
New to folding, is CPU folding worth the electricity these days?
Have a Ryzen 7700 drawing 105W for 550k PPD (5.24k PPD/W),
and a 3080Ti drawing 325W for 9.5M PPD . (29k PPD/W)
Are the CPU WU specifically workloads that GPU could not do efficiently, or is it interchangeable?
First question: generally no you get orders of magnitude more ppd/w with GPUs, especially nvidia GPUs as you stated in your Ryzen 7700 vs 3080 Ti.
Eventually though if you have a super old or weak GPU a CPU will surpass it.
Second Question: Yes their are CPU specific WU's that GPU's cannont complete.
Generally if you can afford a few CPU cores its good practice to just let them run.
I've heard there are WAY more CPU WU's in the queue waiting to be completed because almost nobody runs CPUs
I've heard the are WAY more CPU WU's in the queue
I guess the question then is whether those are CPU specific or WU that could be better run on GPU
Oh I mean like, could said projects be better coded to run on a GPU than a CPU
yea i dont know how that part actually works
but i would assume its more it can't run on a GPU
I'd hope so
I know Ill be running both CPU and GPU for the event just to crank out more WUs. Generally my PPD goes down when I do that but my WU count goes higher
hey guys. anyone else having problems getting jobs?
For Folding@Home or a BOINC project?
F@H
all i see is this for the last few days
I haven't had any issues
Haven't had issues, what your logs say?
that's surprising because your 1060 should be getting stuff, you using windows or linux?
windows
I gotta run but if you get time check the advance guide it helps
With V8 it’s useful to unlock the Advance Setting in order to make yourself able to control resources easier. Say if you’re working with a multi GPU system or would like to start/pause the CPU and GPU folding separately. This guide should help a little with such issues. 1) First you need to go in...

Have got milky and prime going. Is there a way to verify it is working correctly?
Hey! We mostly communicate on the Forum, @solar basin should be putting something out tonight concerning users crunching for the right team and such. If you have your forum name I can check right now quickly though
I see ya! Just make sure in your milky and prime settings that you're on LinusTechTips_Team, free-dc is showing you crunching for SETI,USA
could just be delayed if you recently swapped to LinusTechTips_Team fysa
Need to figure out where to change that one. For the individual projects I am on Linus
sometimes it takes a day or two for stuff to carry over
should be good to go then, IDK how Free-DC figured out I was on LTT, I mostly work on F@H 😂
Yeah must have very old data for prime and isn’t even showing milky yet.
Both seem working. Thanks
Hello again BOINC team! Due to the forum outage we will assemble here for the time being.
The forum is back online again! Great!

We folded all the proteins
And now the boinc is for whatever the researchers need right now, right?
Have no fear! There are plenty more amino acid chains to bend!
It'd be bigger news if F@H wrapped up surely
Not yet! Still plenty more proteins to fold. This was simply the end of a competition LTT participated in.

I wonder....would Google Cloud get mad at me for using their hardware at 100% for a month
yeah i'm only using my cpu right now because i hate the fact that my fans go apeshit
@dusty geode I was thinking the same thing...

yeah i right clicked on the logo in the bar
is it working there?
yeah its doing something
i also started my gpu things for now but i'm not gonna do that all the time lmao
Im running 4 GPUs and 3 CPUs
Im brute forcing my way to the top baby! Fuck efficiency!

hmm...
i'm really straining my 960, since i'm also running a game on it at the same time
Joey I stream and fold at the same time...
Darn, hotspoting may not work well....since most land line internet is out. Everyone using their phones. Talk about a slow cell network down here
use this for folding
ERm
If you have two physical CPUs, do you use 2 slots?
well yeah but this poor 960 is already 4-5 years old and has seen daily battering from me so i feel sad for it
😂
Hmm, been a long time since I seen a 2P setup running F@H. So can't remember how F@H shows two cpus
@young sedge One of my cards is a HD 7950......
Depending on the gtx960, those are hardy cards. The one I have been folding for years since it was bought
