and i can turn off individual cores

see in the description where it says cpu: 16?
that means it will use 16 threads
it should auto set to 1 thread lower than your total thread count
so if you have a 4 core 8 thread CPU it would be 7
you can change it by gooing to the configure tab in the top left
once in configure goto the "Slots" tab
click on CPU and click "Edit"
little box with the up/down arrow is your thread count
should be -1 by default

I took it to a tech repair store to see if it's just my PSU/mobo responsible for this, but until then, I can only fold on my cpu, and I can't play any gpu-intensive games or use my second monitor. I don't even know if my gpu will even be brought back to life 😔

I only just got back into it from hearing about it on the WAN show a few weeks back. I didnt know there was any issues until I open GPU-Z and it said my 5900X was ripping at 91C. Fresh paste and reseating fixed it. Wont go any higher than 72C now.

the only rig I have rn is in my bedroom, which would require running my AC nonstop to sleep xD. I use it during the day otherwise, and I'm not sure how much life my GPU has left in it, it's 4 years old now and it's had a busy life so far, concerned about it's stability for work units in the first place. don't wanna be spitting out bad data and lately i've been getting more crashes and some artifacts in BG3
But yea, I haven't forgotten about you guys lol. I send new team members when I can, which isn't often but it's something. I'm hoping i'll be able to get my own place eventually but the pandemic really shafted me financially so i'm stuck living with family for the forseable future

I'm curious if there are cards known to get the best points per day vs cost?
Like, I can sometimes find 1070Tis for as low as $100. They seem to get between 700-900k points per day.
My 2060 Super gets 1.7m points per day
and my 4070Ti gets 8.2m ppd
some rough napkin math gives me these points per day per dollar numbers
4070Ti = 10k ppd/$
1070Ti = 8k ppd/$
2060 Super = 10k ppd/$
But I imagine someone has done more extensive research

esp since I could grab 4 of them for the price of a 2080Ti, though after a year I'd be down $250 in operating cost vs the 2080Ti

you can issue run and finish commands through the API so a temp sensor and a script to fire those commands to the client should be possible

You don't need to be rich. You just adjust priorities. For instance, instead of a TV, sofa, newer car with intact paint, you buy pc parts, and drive a rusted car, sit in a folding chair, and watch shows on your 19" refurb Dell LCD monitor.

Overnight, it just shut down. Has been incredibly unstable since.
I've tried to replace PSU cables, change pcie slots, remove PSU cable extensions, reinstall drivers, change video output cables, tested another monitor, took it to a repair shop, and soon I'll be replacing the motherboard to see if that's the issue.
The repair shop said it worked just fine for them, so I have some hope it's still alive. It's just been a painful journey.
