My buddy's cousin was tired of his PC having issues, he says the old CPU died, maybe, but he had an old i7 7700 off of me for like $20 (he had an i5 6420P or something similarly named) and he thought the board or the CPU died, he was about to toss the whole system until I asked him to bring the PC over and let me take a look at it. His old CPU was fine, but it needed a bios update. Got that situated and he's got a 7th gen Intel now. Another bit of older hardware saved! He was building a rig for older games, but wasn't sure of what he was doing

And no I didn't lose money or anything - I didn't have a dime invested into that CPU, purely profit doing absolutely nothing

My main rig is still an ancient 16 core x99 xeon. I upgraded from 5960x quite a while ago since I was able to catch one for cheap. I used the previous CPU for years. A 5950x would be a massive upgrade so I might get that in some point. Gaming is secondary and I mainly play lighter and older games and all of those run perfectly fine (plus my partner has been trying to get me into fortnite lately, which also runs well even on my main rig).
