All these things are subjective to the exact model of laptop you get. Truth is, it's easier to achieve better battery, screen quality, and overall consistency in MacBooks because Apple only makes a very small number of models compared to the ocean of eWaste available from other manufacturers.

If you just want an extremely portable machine to access the web and run applications compatible with macOS with amazing battery life and decent support, yes, a MacBook is a great choice! Otherwise, if you need Windows, there are plenty of quality laptops from Dell and Lenovo, too.

I'm sure there are people who've had great success with MSI, Gigabyte, or ASUS laptops, but I still hear more negative stories than I'd like to have confidence in their warranty or repair processes. In my experience, at least with Dell and Lenovo I've always spoken to someone who can either process my warranty claim, or replace the product as necessary. (Though they're not perfect - I usually turn to using Twitter or Facebook DMs with their respective social media accounts vs. calling or using their online chat service.)

I worked in a call center for too long; while there are absolutely employees who want to do the right thing, many call centers operate on strict metrics with little wiggle room, poor ticketing / documentation processes, and a lack of accountability if something goes sideways. macs have tons of power; the problem is that it's locked up behind a different architecture and API

for porting PC and console games, that's a big headache since you have to put in all that legwork

for porting mobile games, that's a headache because you have to make the controls work with a keyboard, mouse, and controller

and the translation layers that do exist, suck down a lot of that power... and the effort required by the game developers to write the game for that specific API/architecture, cost a lot of money

power was never the problem with macbooks; in fact macbooks offer incredible amounts of power compared to gaming laptops while still being relatively thin, light, and power-efficient

the problem is that it takes quite a bit of work to port PC and console games to macbooks and it's not worth it for a 15% install base
