MiG-19P and IAR-93
I wish the MiG-15 was on display 😭
MiG-21 model
Missile
Helicopter
Now what Soviet helicopter is this I do wonder
And what missile is that
I think it's surface to air
Lemme ask Google lens
Trying to get a 737 to 510
RS-2US (K-5)
The poor 737
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAR_330
not a stupid soviet one
I should've known
We made a shit ton of helis for some reason
Apparently the missile is air to air
yeah makes sense
it's quite small
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-5_(missile)
@dusty sky looks like it
Checks out
Also a yakolev stunt plane
But not 55
I remember it said yak-11
But that kinda doesn't check out
Nope still says yak-11 on the plate
It says yak-11 on the plack as well
"USSR 1946, acrobatics plane yak-11"
Should've taken a better photo of the IAR-80 😭
Cruising now
Looks like a gbu 12
Got up to 46000 ish and couldn’t maintain climb speed
That's still too high for a 73
Doing an RNAV STAR on INS, very nice
Cause it appears Toronto is one of the airports that completely disregard non-RNAV procedures now
after trying an RNAV approach with the 767 for my first ever flight, i realized how important it is to be very familiar with your aircraft before you attempt one
Sad
Eh, tbh I don't do RNAV too often, but I honestly don't see it as any more complicated than an ILS approach
I mean, I guess on some planes if you're not expecting it using LNAV+VNAV instead of APP can catch you out
And also it's more important to remember to set your altimeter
And not confuse QNH digits, especially if you're landing in CDG 😆
VNAV? Who says anything about VNAV?
In my books RNAV is LNAV plus vspeed
Dive and drive 🔥
Best case scenario - LNAV plus FPA if I'm in the likes of the 777
Honestly I don't even remember when I did RNAV the last time
Oh I think it was in a 737 in Anchorage
Don't remember why I was doing RNAV instead of ILS
BTW, F28 flight tomorrow morning/early afternoon?
I guess we can use https://discord.com/channels/373055767642898433/1503080939620925560?
I think I might've actually just forgotten to set the ILS frequency? And I think if the runway has both ILS and RNAV, once you engage APP with no ILS frequency it just puts you into RNAV lol
We could just DM tbf
And yeah, afternoon sounds nice
Ah yeah right, not sure why I very rarely call 😆
I'm not particularly an early bird though, so what time roughly would you want it?
I'm pretty sure we're in the same timezone
I'm +2
Yup, UTC+2 too
Sure appreciate it
Did any of the Australians fly MD-11s
I really need to fly there more
I've got 0 planes currently in Australia lol
And what better way to start is there than with an MD-11
Fedex or ups probably did some milk runs back in the day
@trim harbor ever flown Hong Kong airlines?
Just booked my flights off to China
Have a short hop with them from CKG - HKG
@reef isle 30 minutes?
sounds good
Alright
Nope only saw em
How much did u pqy roundtrip for CX?
like 210gbp
flying standby
the CKG-HKG was most of it
90 quid
thats a standard ticket
the rest are standby
Eeeeeee
Awful
Shocking how pricy domestic travel is in China
Trains are expensive as are flights
BJS-CKG is like 100 quid one way
I haven’t heard many good things tbh
Train too
Air Astana is where it’s at
They dont fly to Tokyo though
Do they not?
Do they?
Kms
Thought both Seoul and Tokyo got daily flights from either Almaty or Astana
Etihad is pretty meh
Wb qatar
Eh
Acc nvm qatar has shitty flight times
All ME airlines are kinda eh
I have a 2 1/2 hour commute form airport to home in countryside tokyo
I dont wanna arrive at 11:50pm
EK was aight
Because the service is great but the fact you have to transfer in Doha, Abu Dhabi or Dubai makes it eh
All three airports are shitty unless you have a good credit card or you wanna spend big bucks
Terrible
I hate Dubai with a passion
No cheap flights except ME airlines
Why
Dubai airport was good
In comparison to trashfurr
Oh ye for sure
Why not do an out of airport transfer in to sabiha goken
If your not religious you will become one once you have left SAW
Incredible airport
It’s like a zoo
Awful
Lmfao
I was also lookkg to fly from Prague
Because german fuel tax
Starlux?
But the prices r the same
They do Prague now
Apparently so
Idk tho I probably won’t ever fly with them unless they add Heathrow or Gatwick
Tbh I don't think DXB is bad
As far as airports go, it's actually pretty good imo
Twice I’ve transferred in DXB both times it’s been an experience
One of them was my fault tho I flew with FlyDubai
That’s pretty decent
Flight times r aight too
Flydubai is ok
T2 isn’t
LOL
Tbf I don't have any experience going through DXB in transit, but just flying in/out was quite alright
TRUE
That’s what I’ve heard as well
But I have no reason to ever actually go to Dubai
Nor do I intend to
Transfer was good at dxb
Paying $200 for extra luggage for Azerbaijan Airlines was annoying, but not like it's the airline's fault anyway
Still wasn't the worst part of the trip either, getting chewed out by customs in Tivat was
Tbf the city isn't the worst
Best transfer I’ve had was Almaty in the new terminal
Really quick
Dubai was fast but sitting in the terminal for 5h was just terrible
Yeah tbf Dubai's not too great when it comes to sitting a while
I was alright in Almaty because of the cheap places to eat and drink and nice views
Also quiet
Very quiet
My poor soul mainly only has transfer experience at Istanbul...
It’s not as bad as SAW
Although there was one time when I sat in Cairo airport for something along the lines of 12 hours
Honestly? IST is just the worst airport I've been to, and nothing else comes close
£6 bottle of water
Overcrowded
A network of narrow corridors and an awful airport layout
IST is just big and a pain in the ass but it’s nowhere near as bad as SAW
Fair
Welp the flight to Ljubljana is done, that was fun
Now it's time for me to continue following the F1 schedule, this time to Nice
Although... maybe a bit later
hoping to god the blueballs lineup will be good, dying for a good 76
otherwise i'll have to sin by getting out the captain sim shit
for the love of god, do not
you might be tempted, because "as long as it flies its fine", but captainsim products dont even do that
the P3D shit does
think i'd rather go with my previous experiences 😄
the 757 was alright when I flew that, got it for like €9 anyway so not like it was some daylight robbery
speaking of P3D, i've been so tempted to do some flights in it again, but its so hard justifiying it when the airports are awful and ancient and theres no live weather
the B-17 is pretty much the only thing i fly in it anymore
I still use it for Concorde & 747 stuff when I can be bothered with it
i havent figured out the new ptp extractor yet, so i havent done much with the 747
there's also the DC-10 and 717 too
doubt i'll ever get other liveries installed that aren't BA/LH so im not too bothered
sim will remain on my pc until the release of the 747s or if I decide to format it
Time to descend
Orbx's brand new KATL Atlanta International might be the WORST airport made for MSFS 2024.... So let's take a look at HOW bad it actually is.

(I might ...
wow, thats so depressing
its AI slop
dont forget that they wanted a vibecoded DRM to go along with it
its insane how far orbx has fallen in such little time
first the DRM, then squeaky wheels, and now 100k draw calls on 1 scenery
makes me concerned about the future of volanta too
if Orbx dies because of this, and volanta is nuked because its entirely serverside, i may never play another flight sim ever again
im not gonna lie, i've considered using a spreadsheet as a pilot logbook or something extremely basic lol
I do
But alongside a flight tracker
Volanta for now, because I've had some teething issues with elevatex in the beginning so never quite moved to it
But if volanta goes, I'll just use it
i really liked STKP, but it really started getting on my nerves
Idk why people fear switching. Elevatex isn't worse. And you can just import all of your flights and planes, which takes like 5 minutes, and you're good to go
exporting data from volanta is awful
the last time i tried to do it, it took like 3 weeks
and then i found out that STKP's volanta importer is broken indefinitely
Idk, when I tried it took like 15 minutes
the 767 is good too
its just kinda sad that they gave up on it and never gave it the love it required
still looks and flies well imho
I enjoyed flying the 757 a good amount, hopefully the blueballs 75 will be good

ace combat 8 releases this fall
modern gaming is just a snoozefest now, i missed the first 30 minutes and i dont really care
wake me up when we get B-17 bloody hundredth
I switched to Elevatex a few days ago for this very reason

you can export your data from Volanta using this
and re-import it
you'll lose all your screenshots and plane pictures though
it took like 2 days to put all the plane pictures back
(I use sim screens, not real photos)
thats fine, i have most of them uploaded to steam as well
I sitll have all them strictly locally 😅
I think I lost a bunch, or I can't remember when I saved them?
must have deleted them accidentally, the ones I sent on discord are the only ones I've managed to recover, actually now that I think of it maybe I transferred them to a different drive, I'll have to check 🙁
but all my stuff carried over
Being honest I think I liked the design and UI of Volanta better
I'll try to give them some feedback on their discord, but I doubt they'll listen to it
Is it worth the hassle of switchin
FOR ME, tracking my flights is a very important part of my flight simming ""career"", so Elevatex giving you more control about your data and feeling more open source-y (even though it's not), gives me more peace of mind that even if they go under my data will survive
with Volanta, considering how OrbX handled the whole ATL thing I don't really trust them to be "pro-consumer"
and in fact they made exporting data from Volanta and "switching" as much as an hassle as it can be 😅
so it depends, how much do you care about the data stored on Volanta?
if you care more about the "social" side, definitely stay on Volanta, it's massively more popular
That's everyone flying on Elevatex right now
Ryanair
Anyone wanna take a guess at the destination?
Took a friend 30 minutes to get it with yes-no questions
Well, 30 minutes to guess the flight overall, but he got the plane, the origin and the airline within the first 5 lol
well, chances are it's either going to be in Asia or the US if it's a scheduled flight
knowing you more likely in Asia haha
Both are wrong XD
And it is a scheduled flight
Also tbf I fly in Americas more than I do in Asia
(I say Americas just because there's a bit of Canada mixed in)
In Asia I fly pretty much just around Bangkok Don Mueang (because Thai's old fleet is cool) and Kai Tak
Don Mueang having a golf course between the runways still amuses me
I really gotta visit it next time I'm in Bangkok
might get sacked because i missed the mall by a couple tens of metres but i blame the scenery
I don't think Swiss used to fly to Africa much
Same for the middle east
But I guess they did 😅
Well they didn't fly to either a lot, not in MD-11s at least
