#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)

Russel on pole
Would've preferred Kimi ngl
P4
norris p3?
Yep
wheres verstappen n alonso
Oh it's awful, at least they're acknowledging it
that's good
Max in 6th, Fernando in a proud P19
holy shit man p19 ๐ญ
That's what Aston Martin feels like
At least no more nerve damage, I think
George was very happy to be on pole lol
Honestly, I think having some electric component is necessary, but I don't think F1 should go full- or majority-electric
After all
We have FE
Even a 50/50 split is too much imo
I see your point, and I think it's fair enough, but I disagree.
I'd say the turbohybrid V6s weren't bad, they were pretty nice. Maybe not last few years, but that's cause the cars got fat. 2014 when these regs started wasn't bad, 2016 was one of the seasons of all time too
So like, something along the lines of the previous engines in current cars would work nicely I think
But again, in a perfect world, with teams having some more freedom
yeah that's fair, certainly reducing the electrical side was incredbily dumb
i agree that they didn't necessarily need to increase it
but reducing it was the problem
then it's possble I misunderstood
didn't they decrease the battery power?
how much power the battery can provide
I don't think so
Ok, let me check real quick
They did make some changes within this year
I think they reduced the battery power in qualifying trims in order to limit super clipping
I might have misunderstood, but I remember reading or hearing that even though officially they said they wanted to put more emphasis on the electrical side they did something stupid behind the scenes
I'll see if I can find that again
it's possible (likely even?) that I misunderstood or am misremembering
So basically, previous regs were:
1.6 litre V6, in the end with around 600kW of power
Electrical recovery with MGU-K and MGU-H in total around 150kW I think
Current regs:
Still a 1.6 litre V6, but with a power output being reduced to around 400kW
MGU-H removed
MGU-K power output increased to around 350kW
AH yes ๐ that was it
So the total power stayed the same more or less, but whereas before it used to be something along the lines of 80% ICE, 20% electrical, now it is close to 50% ICE, 50% electrical
so, yeah, first removing MGU-H I think was the first dumb idea (as again you're removing a way to constantly charge the battery without needing clip/LICO
and then the other thing is that I believe they didn't increase the battery size enough to account for the new changes
Yeah, banning MGU-H was not a good thing for sure
Yep, the battery is just very small, and that's why we have super clipping
exactly ๐
The cars literally just uncharge before they reach the end of a straight/fast corner
Yep exactly, so yeah while in theory it's 50/50
By the end of any straight part it's 50/0 XD
Which is especially bad on fast tracks
Like Suzuka was just not it at all this year
Baku is gonna suffer
didn't F2 qualify better than some F1 cars in MIA?
Don't remind me I'm going to cry
that's another big straights battery intesive track IIRC
Every single F2 driver in miami qualified better than both Aston Martins
oof
Fernando ain't winning the third this year ๐ญ
This can't be a coincidence that whenever Honda supplies an engine to the team Fernando's driving in, it's just terrible
Can we just give him the R26
Anyway F1 talk over, time to fly
Actually
I'm glad someone made a texture patch like that
And I managed to install it for this reg alone too
Of course the whole me flying a chartered DHL A300 for race weekends will be not quite realistic, they probably use various different charters, not just DHL
But I decided that since DHL is an official overall F1 partner, why not
Would've chosen Aston Martin (cause Fernando's my GOAT) but AMR is actually partnered with Atlas, so them using a DHL charter would be a bit of a betrayal lol
Ferrari is partnered with UPS, and considering UPS has 300s I could probably get a "Ferrari" reg as well
Honestly ini might have some issues with their planes, but I like the fact that you can select loads like this
RIP
first WASM crash in the sim I think
as far as I can remember
had to respawn, reset the FMS and then slew to the right-ish place
Sad
at least I remembered to clip it so that I could set my fuel to the right level
right before it died
GEORGE RUSSELL WINS THE CANADIAN GRAND PRIX!!
Just under 10 hours until the race so we'll see, we'll see
He does have good chances
Pole to begin with, and it's one of his good tracks as well
@rustic charm going through it ๐ฅฒ
Nice, thanks for doing it
I'm setting up for a 'little' hop in a 738 meanwhile
Apparently Aeroflot flies them from Novosibirsk to Sanya
Yes
just a big Lvar lists
of all the things that need to be shared
no idea tbh
I think there's no limit to how many people join?
Basically the app tries to sync all controls between all clients
(All controls that are defined)
So technically an FE could be possible?
Probably becomes less stable with more people though
guys PLEASE i wanna be a fe : (
I don't think I'll finish it today
it's way too mind numbing to do in one session
just looking for things and copy/pasting them
it feels like something that could be very easily automated if I was willing to vibe code some slop or actually learn how to do it
oh
yikes so u gotta go over each button?
or you press Ctrl+G, and it will tell you
Yes...
yuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
so all the shared cockpit file essentially requires is the name to be in the dcoument
thats it?
thats actually quite simple i didnt expect that
from the one I downloaded
I mean
really, what else does it need to do?
Just syinc the position, and rotation and sync Lvars
position and rotation are quite easy to get out of the sim with simconnect I think
don't want to trivialize what these people have done but...
It helps that the JF planes are FANTASTIC to work with
for this stuff
if this was a PMDG plane I'm not sure I would have been able to do anything
same for the FSS Ejets
so its easy work but annoying af to do
yeah
Well tbf the F28 doesn't have FEs anyway
In MSFS I think for now the only planes we have that fly with FEs are the 727 and the Lockheed?
Plus the DC-6 can apply too, those things used to operate with so many different crew configurations
United did domestic flights in them with just 2 pilots abd that's it
BCPA meanwhile I think had 5 or 6 people on them? 2 pilots, an FE, a radio officer, a navigator and maybe someone else, I don't remember
And everything inbetween is also an option
Honestly BCPA was so weird and cool
Honestly I would even pay some upgrade fee if PMDG made a specific BCPA variant add-on
Firstly it's the passenger cabin of course
They were configured as, quote, "Pullman-type sleepers"
Which in very brief terms means
They were basically these things, but with wings
They had full beds in those planes
Also I am pretty sure that they had a larger cockpit than usual with a bunch of additional instrumentation that would help them overfly 12 hours of nothing but Pacific Ocean
There aren't many pictures of the cockpit unfortunately, I could only find this one, but I am pretty sure those instruments on the right are some sort of old-school navigation, and I'm pretty sure the PMDG doesn't have them
Yeah don't worry, take all the time you need
I'm flying to Hainan in a 737 for the next 5 hours anyway XD
That's the frog plane right?
Unfortunately not
It's one of my favourite planes as well ๐
I'm very sad
I've not heard it being called a frog yet
One I've heard in Russia is Cheburashka
But yeah, sad
Who do I need to pay for the sims to get more Soviet/Russian planes
Get in contact with felis
Btw Cheburashka is this guy
So you can probably guess why the An-72 & 74 are nicknamed after him XD
The best part is that Felis himself doesn't actually support his Soviet planes anymore, they're all open-source now lol
Yeah
"So how do we make it able to land safely anywhere"
@trim harbor btw I just decided to check now, seems like CYUL is expecting variable rain all day, so we might be in for a good Canada this year
absolute baller
Ngl I hope it ends up being properly variable rain
So it's not just a wet race
But real mixed conditions where strategy comes into play (sorry Charles)
I just hope Antonelli keeps his cool into turn 1...
yk.. after yesterday. ,๐ญ
that's all I kept thinking about LOL
But Kimi did show that he's not going to just give way to George, so this season might turn out to be quite interesting in the end
If Mercedes keeps the advantage throughout the whole season, the final few races will probably be really tight
Cause Kimi and George are tbf close
@rustic charm are you READY to RUMBLE
same
Nah
oh
In the UAE it's 24/7 always
They stay open even for holidays
dubai marina my love
But in the UAE I wouldn't be able to buy alcohol to begin with
not to be a dubai gooner but marina was defo the best part about the uae
Not 21 yet
l o l
Plus even if I were, would need a separate license since I'm a resident
what
In muslim countries usually you need to hold a separate card that you show when buying alcohol, I don't think it's difficult to acquire one, but it's basically because the religion overall prohibits drinking
But that only applies to people living there, tourists don't need one
Cause well
even as a resident
You're a tourist
thats crazy
But well, here I can buy whatever I want
15 minutes
I like the look of that
This too
Half-slick half-inter grid
I guess we need to move elsewhere for discussions though lol
3rd formation lap LOL
Everyone's ditching inters too
Brocedes v2 continues
@trim harbor did you like it
I wasnt able to watch as ive sadly been working on a presentation for work on express mode ๐
I did however see that kimi won
So massive W
Also a suepr goated podium
Yeah
Russel was out due to a mechanical issue
The whole race was full of action
Also this finishing grid, jesus
Time for an overnight now
Huh I never noticed Simbrief can actually give you remarks
For some reason both on the delivery flight and right now, the EFB gave me some very wrong values for takeoff
It gave me speeds of 155 V1, 163 Vr and 166 V2
Which I can tell just by looking at them, for an empty A300 at flaps 15 that's way too high
Last time they were pretty much the same, and then I wasn't even over 100 tons in gross weight cause it was a very short flight too
All the other parameters being the same as specified by the EFB too, the plane started rotating around 120-130kts
Basically, the V speeds given by the EFB can't be trusted
Anyway, I'm off now
Frank Cvitanovich's charming documentary film follows the bizarre story of a husband and wife, Merlyn and Roy Suckling, who boldly decide to start up an airline. Suckling Airways, the UK's smallest international airline, has one 20-seater Dornier 228 plane and operates two daily flights from Cambridge to Manchester and Amsterdam.
Staff are on f...
Guys, I have an idea for a summer project

Ngl if the GP was today, it would probably be even cooler. But the race was amazing anyway so I'm not complaining
Flying with some stuff in the cargo hold this time
Not D-AZMQ, not approved
Why should it be AZMQ
Cux it's the one I saw
Fair
Watched it depart to Milan
Doesn't exist in MSFS though I think
I'll fly to Milan too eventually
Around 3rd September to be specific
Like I was so surprised to see it man
Looks like from East Midlands though
Take a wild guess where that A300 went after Milan
Leipzig-Halle
Fair
For this plane I'm flying the schedule is already decided until December lol
Anywhere with a 2 or more week gap, there will be an East Midlands inbetween (cause UK-based teams seemingly use EGNX as the airport of choice, and I'm transporting RBR)
What are the chances the ATR is doing the same exact flight it did when I saw it fly in
Well
No

LEIPZIG MENTIONED
yes
i live around it
w airport
toobad lufthansa cancelled 50% of their flights from it
Lufthansa's just doing bad now tbh
Cityline shut down...
All thanks to one certain guy
arrived at Gatwick, nice little sector for today
Lights out
Welcome home RBR
You know, I'm planning the year now and...
A 777 would've been a better choice
Gonna have to do a stopover on the way to & from the Singapore GP, on the way to US GP, on the way home from Brazil GP, and on the way to & from Vegas GP
Possibly on the way from Mexican GP to Brazilian GP too
It's like 9 hours in the air, not sure if it can do it with a load
I am SO GLAD that in MSFS old unused airports still exist
I was going to, I think I somehow treat MSFS as a sort of virtual hangar/museum, and I just like to own cool planes like these even though I know I will most likely not use them that much
anyway
it's as you would expect from an ini local legend
surprisingly usable ๐
flight model is quite nice, but a bit light and twitchy, and I'm not a big fan of the trim
but it's enjoyable overall
yeah, which I absolutely don't mind
it's not a plane I'm obsessed with and was going to properly study anyway
and to be fair the plane itself seems very basic
Yeah, tbf I don't either. Just haven't looked into any of them too much, cause I'm just not too interested
it's about on par with the freeware F27
The YS-11 looks kinda cool
But idk if I wanna get it
The F27 is obviously a no from me cause there's a freeware one (sadly not that many liveries)
yeah same
And the An-225 is just not something I'm interested in, I just don't think I'd fly it
but I mean, I have to be honest, I am quite a big fan of this basic cheap and cheerful planes.
Realistically it's the only way these things will ever make sense economically
like... you'll never get your money back if you invest to make a study level YS-11
Dear ini, just take the 225 you made and rebuild it into an An-124. Literally the same cockpit, all the same systems. We need one
Oh yeah I think it's a good idea overall
The whole local legend/famous flyer lineup
Obviously some of them are just bad
But the ones from ini actually seem pretty good
Yeah, I think sometimes the planes they pick are a bit absurd, like why the F27 istead of the F50 for example? ๐
but yeah...
And sometimes the devs they pick are a bit absurd, like Aeroplane Heaven
Tbf I think people say their GA stuff is not too bad, they just suck with airliners
I am so happy I haven't heard anything from the Caravelle, i think I would have ripped my hair out
and I'm quite happy with the one in Xplane
and again, that's another vary basic, cheap and cheerful plane ๐
I'm so sad we got a them 707 instead of something like an ini famous flyer 707
yeah indeed
And the caravelle is probably quietly cancelled after how shit the 707 was tbh
Cause I don't think we've heard anything about it since the 707 release
And that was like
Oh I think it's definitely for the better
At least it keeps the door open for someone else to make one
I really want this, but I absolutely shouldn't buy it, but it's on sale ๐ญ
This a basic, expensive and not-very cheerful plane hahah
I'm not sure I'll have enough self-restraint
I kinda want it... but idk
Probably shouldn't
Because I will have to spend a lot on XP soon anyway
Cause the 732
it's quite bad hahaha
I very much doubt the guy updated it much for XP12
but it's the little stupid egg plane with stupid engine position
and I want it a lot
It's actually fun that as of now I've not spent a single cent on XP apart from buying the sim itself
Gotta do a few more flights with the 154 ngl
And of course, gotta learn the 134 too
I promise I'll continue with the F28, just finding the motivation to do that work isn't easy
it'll happen at some point
in the not too distant future
The Yak-40 as well of course, but that's lower priority cause the factories it's been made at are even more a mess than the Tupolev plant lol
UWKG didn't exist in the sim at all, but at the very least it still exists irl, so I could actually make it
Yeah don't worry about it, there's no rush at all
I know how tedious it can be
Also I want to look into the XP app too, it seems like it's the only shared cockpit option that's tested & properly stable. Not too expensive either, I might buy the premium for a month at some point so we could actually let @trim harbor be an FE
And well tbh if at some point I test it and it does actually work well, I might just end up buying the 'elite' one-time-purchase option (I hate subscriptions lol)
if we end up using it a bit I wouldn't mind splitting the price
maybe I can just send you money through PayPal or something?
Nah dw, you don't have to
GuS guys i have it
I can host it
As i have a sub already
Oh
Well we can try it at some point then
Does it automatically support any plane though, or will the Tu-154 be the same as the F28 in MSFS
Well it doesn't have to be the 154, but I just don't really have aything in XP
The Felis 742 probably would be fun, but at this point I reckon I'll wait for the 747s in MSFS
Felis works
I tried
Tu154 shall too
In 2026 honestly ED knowing my installed application doesn't even register as a minor privacy-related worry
with how much google stuff I use at this point my entire life and personality is owned by the highest bidder
privacy is dead
My father works at a bank, and now they're using machine vision ("AI") to scan and transcribe your ID documents that are attached to your bank account
that surely phones home too
and if it doesn't now, it will soon
go watch the latest google Keynote
I'll try to de-google soon(ish)
just because its common shouldnt make it acceptable tbh
that ship has sailed a long time ago
there's too much value and money behind it
an overwhelming majority of generative AI and LLM use cases aren't acceptable either considering the drawbacks
and yet here we are ๐คทโโ๏ธ
as long as there's enough money behind it, politicians will be bought, guardrails will get taken down and stuff will happen
at least I'm in the EU so I'm better off, but I don't think that'll last long tbh
I fear that chat control will start a domino effect that will end up with GDPR and similar laws becoming more irrelevant
I hope I'm wrong
@rustic charm only Overhead left to do on the F28 and then we can try it maybe?
ah excellent
I won't be around in the evening
but maybe we can try in the morning or early afternoon
it's significantly less stuff than the RJ
so I either cut too many corners or the plane is simpler maybe?
I mean, the plane is much simpler I reckon
Like, with the RJ you have a full FMC and stuff
Oh and also
The RJ & 146 have failures, so circuit breakers too
The F28 doesn't have them
yeah
even if it did have them, I don't think I would have bothered to be completely honest ๐
Yeah that's fair
I don't think we would run into failures anyway
The chances of that on a 1-hour flight are low
for example I won't bother with doing all the lamp checks by clicking the buttons...
sorry
maybe later
but I'd like to get it functional first?
Yeah, that's absolutely understandable tbh
I believe they will work
I just won't see them if you do it
and vice versa
but the lights if triggered by the planes' system I think will still work? and we should still see them?
actually, are you around now or in a little bit?
Oh yeah I'm free rn
Sure, let's try it
oh wait I forgot the press thingy
1 sec
ok cool
I haven't changed the useless things yet
That's fine
how do I tell it?
Hmm
Idk
I wonder how it even chooses which preset is which aircraft
Could it just be the file name?
I wrote it in their discord
let's see what they tell me
maybe I'll have to give it to them...
Let's see what they say
I might have jumped to conclusions way too early
so in SmartCopilot all these profiles were just this text files
but now I'm starting to think that these yamls are just one small piece
although I don't know
Hmm, tbh there could be some other file/place where they're defined additionally
Yeah, let's see
Honestly
Looking through the files
I don't see anything else that could be required?
yeah fair enough
@rustic charm
works
they told me how to name the file ๐
apparently I'm an idiot
I'm happy to try tomorrow
Sure, we can try tomorrow
@rustic charm I know it's not really morning anymore but whenever you're around tell me
Yeah sorry I should've mentioned I'm not even close to being an early bird
Give me 15 minutes
I'll be ready
All ready, just waiting for the sim to load now
07
Alright
Nice, that worked
Welp I'm in
can you move the F/D mode selector?
Nice graphics in FS24
yay ๐
there are a few things I'm not sure about that aren't as straightforward
for example the NAV frequency
you have it on 110.5 now yes?
NAV1
Yup
Here's 113.9
So it doesn't sync those?
I think I can
Could it be just because I moved it too quickly, maybe it just needs more time
no, because it doesn't send the "position" or the actual frequency, but just if it increases or decreases
but maybe there's a way around that I haven't really looked yet
I was hoping it would just work anyway
I set the mode selector back to HDG and the Pitch command to 0
did you see that?
Yeah
perfect ๐
Those work
yeah, most things will work
it's a couple of knobs and rotary things that don't
I'll go away, see if I can figure these out and then we can try again?
Sure
thank you so much
you can't do anything with OC2 anymore, no livery and aircraft management, no global flight ops, nothing
Weird that they locked installing from ptp files though
Like, why
I get cutting it off from the servers, obviously keeping it up takes money, and PMDG doesn't like losing money
But if you just let it exist on a legacy, no-support basis, that takes nothing away from you
LTU enjoyers assemble
The only airplane in existence that will ask you for flaps 23 and still tell you to only rotate once you reach 170kts
The landing light placement is, in standard McDonalds Douglas fashion, very weird, but tbh these landing lights are probably my favourite lol
And across 10000, lights out
Controlled rest time
Descending into Cancun
thanks middle east
There's only 1 place I could be going to
No controlled rest on this short hop, but it's time to go prepare an in-flight meal instead
Weโre excited to finally share the first major 787-9 development update.
This update marks a huge milestone for us in the development of the VECTOR 787-9. For the first time, we can truly bring together the two core worlds that define this aircraft: deep systems simulation and visual fidelity, alongside all the sub-branches that support and c...
I did my first longhaul flight today from RJTT to EDDF, 13h 46min flight time
And I'm in Hong Kong
My guy what speed did you fly
It's crazy fast
78 is fast
Not as fast as the 74 though
Ngl can't wait until PMDGs release
On that note, DEAR PMDG WHERE ARE MY 747S
Plane
Honestly, flying this plane empty is such a fucking pain
6.5 tons of ballast needed to keep the CGs within limits
Doing this in what is essentially a glorified heading mode will be fun
The night is coming
If I were delivering one to Aeroflot or something, I would've already been in Moscow
But I still have 3:30 to go lol
We really need to do a group flight in this thing
Cause I really do need a navigator
In other words: I got lost again

Yeah that doesn't sound all too nice
Tbh I'm not against lite DRM but it is a bit redudant as everything is cracked in the end, the worst thing about it is the fact it's vibe coded
New issue discovered: the headings Skyvector gave me are plain wrong
it's 100% gonna eat some performance
yum
you picked possibly the worst time to fly at
but I mean
what is tree number 76765467676564 gonna differ from tree 98486421394
Eh, the time doesn't matter really
Oh have I mentioned that the plane refuses to follow VORs too
M
image says no
Ah brilliant
Thankfully it's a false alarm, because it doesn't take into account tank 4
My real fuel total right now is around 8500
Which tbf isn't really enough to fly for 2 more hours, plus I ain't flying 2 hours with this alarm on
Not Mirny, but it'll do
They backtracked
after their whole discord server revolted against them for 6 hours
I saw lmao
LOL
PEAK
Pretty
Ngl I need short hops in Europe more
Italy & Spain in particular
Did Alitalia use MD-80s and DC-9 much domestically?
A HUGE AMOUNT
Literally you can realistically fly the MD-80 from anywhere to anywhere in Italy
Italy was the MD-80 and DC-9's European home
Alitalia (and other smaller carriers like Meridiana) have historically been some of McD's biggest customers
Spain is another good one because of Spanair
Fair
Gotta deliver an Alitalia MD-80 then
Didn't you do a livery btw? Or was that on the DC-9
on the MD80 there are alredy loads of good options
Even though I'm not too sure I'm gonna take the DC-9, just a bit of a pain to do deliveries on it anywhere other than the states
not sure how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go but Alitalia has never really been one uniform block, especially before the 2000s
This guy has done loads of interesting liveries
Tbf there are fewer liveries on the 20th anniversary, which is the one I have
It's a shame the 20th anniversary edition didn't get much attention in that regard
At least I have Hawaii
That looks cool
Oh yeah that's unusual
Guess I'll use one of the default ones tbf
There's just a specific reg that I think works perfectly
the of course you have the different Alitalia schemes themselves
since the MD80 was in service long enough to see the latest design as well
this was for the MD-80s last flight with Alitalia
That's cool
I'm not sure which variation the default one is tbf
Not sure if it's very accurate either, but probably is good enough
I think it was the one before this
It's pretty good ๐
it's I-DAWG right?
Yep
Wasn't that SAS ๐ญ
And people will still say a perfect registration doesn't exist
SAS had way fewer
Clouds if it's a fucking thunder storm
BTW Meridiana used the other FMS option, the one labelled Canadian/PMS
Alitalia had Honeywell, and had HUDs fitted
Not exactly the most inspiring
It's a plane that carrier the nickname "mad dog", painted into clouds that look like a cow
๐
Perfection
Okay sorry no Meridiana then
I think Alaska used that one too
I found out when I loaded up the aircraft
Did the delivery
Never touched it since
Scary encounter
I don't think so, they had a "batch" which was VERY early on in production so it had the analogue cockpit (@Leonardo) and no HUD
but then the other ones were pretty much the ones Leonardo did
Hmm, weird
in fact Leonardo is made up by an ex-Alitalia and an ex-Meridiana guy ๐
I'm fairly positive of that
Wouldn't be surprised tbf
I really really hope they change their minds eventually and do the analogue cockpits (or MD-81s overall)
Yeah, i think you have an almost perfect recreation of the Alitalia and Meridiana planes depending on the options you pick
While the DC-9 is unfortunately very very different
I think the guy that did it was Mexican and based it off the Mexicana DC-9s
and that had a very different, slightly unusual cockpit config
But for now I'm waiting for freighters that they said would come eventually
Everts ops will shine in new light with a freighter MD-80
Think Everts flies MD-88s specifically, so the cockpits we have would be pretty accurate
Well, tbf the DC-9 itself in MSFS is a bit lower detail than the Maddog
yeah at some point I might try and make a proper flight model for it, I think I have learned just enough to have a chance, but yeah...
And also, the DC-9 is from an earlier age, I wouldn't be too surprised if they in reality were somewhat like 727s - every single airline flies a slightly different configuration
I did a sort of kitbash and modified the Leonardo flight model to make it a DC-9
I think I posted it somewhere
it actually worked quite well ๐
I'm not sure if you've posted it, but I remember you've sent it to me
if you want to do short italian flights Itavia had the F-28
and there are quite a few timetables available
Oh that's neat
https://flightsim.to/addon/105221/itavia-i-tida-fokker-f28-1000-just-flight
And there's a good livery ๐
This Mixer66 guy is another gigachad in terms of old and forgotten italian liveries
2024 only though
like the NB guy
Well that's fine, I'll have to move sims eventually anyway
At this point I'm just delaying the inevitable
Oh I think that's the same guy who did Montenegro actually
So probably stopped downloads on all the liveries then
Though I'm not sure how that works
Maybe?
Or maybe you can somehow download it from a drive, like with google
Idk
no idea really
I assume just got upset with fs.to for whichever reason
Which tbf is completely fair, I don't judge things like that
Plus fs.to has surprised even me a few times recently...
Absolutely reasonable
Yeah
if I had the hardware and know-how to self host I probably would
Idk how they manage to make the website worse every time
judging by their art work, AI has something to do with it
Tbf the most complicated part of that (or well, just a part that you need to rely on outside resources the most) is actually hosting a website, making one isn't too difficult
I remember a few years ago I knew how to make websites
Not very complicated stuff
But the basics and some formatting and all
Interesting
I did remember looking into that some time ago and came to the same realization
that it would have been feasible to have something usable
but I don't really have the hardware yet
maybe if at some point I'll get a new PC I'll probably repurpose this to do something maybe along thes lines?
Yeah, I think basically to host a website you need just any device that has a CPU, storage and an internet connection
There's also the option to just buy hosting too, I've not tried anything like that though so can't really say anything
Also I think even if you want to host it yourself, you need to still buy a domain, which can be pricy
(well it's more so renting usually iirc)
Btw, has anyone looked into how traffic functions in MSFS?
I was just thinking of whether it's possible to kinda make backdated traffic, but easily
Like, it'd be unrealistic of course, but something along the lines of simply swapping all the A320s for 727s (maybe just replacing the model files? So the game still thinks it spawns 320s, but they look like 727s)
Why
The fuck
Does my 727 just not work
Like idk what to do now
The nav & radios just refuse to work
I can't change any frequencies
Like technically they fully work, but everything is just stuck on the same frequency
And it's only the frequencies for comm/VOR/ADF
Everything else is fine
Ngl, I have no idea what could possibly be wrong
well
yesnt
i do some work for SI and their ai traffic
Oh that's cool
There's a discord server that focused on that a bit
Look for flight simulator museum
Really cool channel btw
Someone has managed to have FSX/FS2004 models and liveries in MSFS
Will look it up
First flight into two weeks, and ofc it's the 737Ng
finally a flight tracking things that groups by aircraft type
I need help
like 70h combined on the BAe
I really didn't think I flew the BAe more than the F28
guess it makes sense ๐
Oh how can you see that
Switched from Volanta to Elevatex
Ah, fair
Pretty
im hoping both will be good
its funny, i realized that the reason why I struggle so bad with landing GA aircraft, and not commercial aircraft (even the ones I havent flown before) is because there is no RA on GA aircraft
Btw to those who were concerned about purchase options with the Classic
They updated their website today, they're also seemingly gonna be adding new store options
It's really getting there tbh
I am inclined to agree
Few things holding it back from me using it still like hardware support but once that starts to get there I think I'll be flying it a bit, especially as the sounds are being done by someone who I think is on the level of boris
i just bought the IXEG and never looked back tbh
its only the -300, but i dont regret it one bit
Greased it
this game is so much fun
it just kind of sucks that its a B-17 simulator, not a flight simulator, the actual controls to fly the B-17 are pretty abysmal
but other than the actual piloting, everything else is really fun
i havent checked into the microprose B-17 in MSFS2024 for a while, the last i saw of it, it was in pretty rough shape

With the latest patch less than a week old for the beleaguered B-17, is it still worth buying with Aeroplane Heaven's own release on the horizon?

Avai...
oh... seems like im not missing much
i had no idea they were doing an F, which is one of the most underrepresented B-17 variants in flight sim even though it was one of the most produced
still looking forward to it
Air Portugal
Pretty
Lisbon is pretty too. Been there a while ago, it was cool
I need to fly the tristar more
something something console players
and also
what ambitious project from 2019?
The 380
@rustic charm
when you have a little bit of time we can try this
My hopes are not too high
Alright
it says no profile available even though I copy pasted the name of the old one
it's the same right?
Yeah it was the same, definitely
I've just loaded into the airport
Says no profile for me too though
And I can't connect because of that
this works
RWCXWIKV
sorry about that
No problem
Engines/Throttle worked?
Yep
Flaps worked?
Yep
NAV1 115.6?
Yup
Yup
you see the same?
Yeah
CRS1 176, HEADING 300 CRS2 242?
Yes
you're moving around as well yes?
yeah the JF planes use the dynamic reg for the cockpit
the exterior one shouldn't change
Cool, that's fun ๐
Yeah the exterior is correct
I guess we'll just plan when to fly next ๐
Yeah
so happy this is done ๐
if everything works I'll give the profile to the FSCopilot people so they can upload it
Yeah, good work there really
sorry I took so much time
Don't worry about that, there's no rush
For once I say something, and do it
2024 performance for me is still unbearable
And I run the thing on med/low mostly too
The only things I have at high are clouds and stuff
And I'm doing something wrong again because it ain't wanna start XD
For some reason when I try to do the engine start, it just doesn't go past 24.0 N2/2.8 N1
APU BLEED S/O?
Open
the one above as well
hmh, should work
only for ENG2 though
if you want to start ENG1 or 3 you'd need to open the cross bleed
so you click the grey square, it goes green, then you introduce fuel
Yep
and even then it doesn't go past 8% N1?
oh
24% N2
looks like it's not introducing fuel properly and it's jut motoring
They looked like they were on, but were actually off
yes
Now it works
yeah I can even tell
by the screenshot
but didn't notice
sorry
for me it does this fairly rarely
usually after an update?
it has done it since very early builds
Probably an update yeah
they made it work a lot more consistently, but sometimes happens, no idea why
Cause I've not flown it since the last one
also in theory you shouldn't have been able to start the APU
it doesn't scavenge its fuel automatically like some other planes
Well, the APU worked for some reason
but whatever
yeah that logic was never in
it never cared about fuel pumps at all
on some planes it's realistic, not on the 1011
I didn't realize, and it took someone else way after release to point it out ๐
