I assume they mean for visible and defined muscles. for example for abs, you have to have a low enough body fat percentage for them to show whether or not you got them built. Building muscle anmd strength doesn't require fasting, but having defined and what some would call a 'shredded' look, you need a low body fat %
check out pinterest, google, or even reddit, search for those based/made for ur specific goals you want out of working out. if you don't yet have specific goals -- decide on some.

no no fasting is never needed, or dieting as such, The only thing that matters is counting calories.
Fasting only gives a short day better look for that day because you have not eaten, and itl fluctuate your weight more than just holding yourself to X calories a day.
You need to get the necessary nutrients as well. If you plan on building muscle then you need to consume the appropriate amount of protein per day. If you plan on doing fat loss then you need to minimize the amount of fat you eat, or at least keep an eye out for it so you don't lose yourself.

Some people intermittent fast with 2000 calories so that they aren’t even cutting anything. Still counts.
Yeah but like I said, protein merely goes to energy or fat storage if it’s not being used. So there’s no ‘loading up’ that’s gonna help the next day. You’re just eating extra food. (Which is fine. ‘Shredded’ is not a measure of health)

Also, as said in above message, if they’re talking about intermittent fasting, that can be normal amount of calories, OR reduced.
Many people find that if they eat in that different pattern, they don’t even have to cut. Something about your body editing your energy-seeking towards fat rather than seeking to replenish blood sugar through cravings.
Actually, the whole purpose of Keto (which is ok for short term but not long term) is to eat mostly fat because, again, like above message, it trains your body to burn fat and not blood sugar.
Fat has been demonized a lot, but if it’s primarily healthy fats, (like nuts for instance, or local pasture-raised animal products) there’s nothing wrong with it.
Sorry do you have a source for this, because I dont think you can train your body to target fat etc and about the different patterns you WILL NOT lose weight without eating less calories than your maintaince so the different patterns is just a coincident many see as they just arent eating as much

This has good points but overall is a load of rubbish. Yes each persons body metabolises different and that would affect the number of calories that person could eat, but once youve found your maintaince calories, Eating less than that should always unless special circumstances result in weight loss. If i maintain at 2,000 calories but everyday only eat 1,500 calories of donuts I'm still going to lose weight.
Keto may help with burning body fat, but keto diet is not sustainable because you are cutting out carbs. And for each 1g of Carbs it attaches itself to 3g of water. Meaning most of the weight you are losing is water weight and the instant you start eating carbs again the weight is going to come straight back on, and be disappointing.

Exactly. I and many others have made the mistake of eating nothing but chicken breast and rice as our main meal before getting sick of it. I decided, "Fuck it, might as well make it delicious." Been making chicken teriyaki with brown rice and it is so good. So good that I actually don't see myself switching to something else.

I want to build my upper body strength and grow my arms a lil (especially biceps) . Also grow my quads and calves. And increase my mobility. But there are some things im not sure I can do bc of my height (like pull ups or certain machines)

Just watched the latest video from one of my favorite Youtubers, said video an episode on his personal life and he showed his journey and growth as a martial artist through training the past 2-3 years and it all led to competing in a tournament.
Seeing him win after months of training, and years of self-discovery if you account his years leading up to this, has inspired me to keep going and look forward to gym tonight. He actually motivated me a bit to get back into martial arts again! Maybe once I have the cash I'll try a second time.

Honestly I'm debating of just skipping tonight, didn't workout Monday because my truck was in the shop and I'm trying to gradually get into my full routine by taking it one step at a time. I want to make sure I can go at least three weeks of upper body consecutively (Monday and Thursday) without interference before I do lower body. With Monday leaving me incapable of exercising, I may just not go tonight.
Yeah, being shaken off the horse Monday ihas ruined the grind for me this week. Maybe next week.

I remember years ago when me and my dad went to Universal Studios in California and in order to get to the Jurassic Park section you have to go through some small area that connects it to the rest of the park, and it involves one long area with a long series of stairs and escalaters. Since escalaters were crowded, me and my dad just went up the stairs. We made it to the top while the people who got on the escalaters the same time we starting climbing the stairs were halfway there.

First and foremost I do sports acro, so most of what I work towards at the gym is beneficial to that. In this case, I will be doing an intensive weapons course next week- you basically learn how to fight for stage and screen.

Combat course is going well! I’m really enjoying it, and finding that I’m actually stronger than I thought.
Though almost pushed a girl through a wall so potentially should examine my limits
Last week during my workout I need to eat more so I can properly bulk up and try to get back to the weight I had prior to falling off the routine, so today marks my first day of eating two servings of chicken teriyaki with brown rice. If anyone has another meal I could have that has similar levels of calories, protien, and other nutrients don't hold back.
Upper body day
OHP: 110lbs
Incline dumbbell press: 55lbs
Ez bar Skullcrushers: 65lbs
Hammer curl: 30lbs

Abs are very hard to get, the discipline and harsh training you give yourself you kind of have to double down if not triple to get an actual 6/8-pack
Don't feel bad, I have actually been told that abs are really only something to strive for if you really want that beach bod

BIG UPDATE! so i started going to the gym frfr this time. First day was leg day. Did bulgarians, learned how to squat properly, did rdls, then played basketball for an hour that night (my legs are SOO sore). Did back and bicep yesterday. Worked out at the gym last night for the first time in 1-2 months, felt really good getting that grind in. Stopped doing dropsets for the time being and returned to normal sets. But once I get back into it I may continue them.
Yeah they're physically demanding and exhausting, but I can't deny how effective they are
I still remember my first time doing them and the next 1-2 days were on fire in a good way

Yeah, that's it. It is actually pretty easy to do really.
"High intensity" doesn't even need to be heavy lifting, excess cardio (Or more than you are used to) is often enough to speed it up.
You can also work on building up muscle composition, since muscle takes more energy to upkeep.

Start off at a normal pace, keep up that pace, increase the pace then slow down and repeat

You can't loose fat in one area, that's not how the body works. Up the protein while staying a little below your calorie deficit will help you lose weight and keep muscle mass tho
i’ve sort of been doing the same thing, leg raises and side leg raises are really helpful for the abdomen! any core exercises are also great. but i’ve been trying to have more protein & do my reps in my focused areas (legs for me) and i’ve actually been seeing some weight distribution changes!
as said above, calorie deficit with a high protein intake :P
Eat more calories than you burn off while also making sure you double down on protein, then just do weightlifting as usual. Fat loss is a gradual process and the torso area is one of the last places where it occurs; it happens in the arms and legs since that is what is doing most of the work when exercising; then the head and neck area; then finally the torso. Just keep exercising and you will lose fat eventually, it can take months.
eating more calories than u use, wont lose fat?
Fat is a result of unburnt calories that just sit in your body but as long as you eat slightly more calories than you burn then you can gain more mass which then can be turned into muscle assuming you eat enough protein. It is a bulking diet.

Like I said, as long as you eat slightly more calories than you lose then it shouldn't be a problem. If you ear, say, 1000 calories and burn off 800-900 you should be fine, depending on your current physique.

I use it to make my teriyaki sauce but Amazon supposedly stopped selling the brand I like so I may need to switch to something else, and the chicken teriyaki I make is essential to my diet as it has become literally one of two things I cook nowadays.
FYI I don't like soy sauce, hence why I use coconut aminos in the first place.

my go to sweet treat atm, is just jelly sugar free. its like 100-200 calories for this giant portion of jelly would recommend!
like calorie deficit/counting is only gonna be sustainable if you enjoy it :) so got to find good alternatives to certain foods that work for u
gaining weight is so much more difficult than losing weight for me
Weight control is mostly to do with diet imo
Try to split ur meals across the day into less portions with high calorie foods so its easier to gain weigh

Leg presses with weights *^ you need to go to the gym for 2/3 of the things I just recommended
it depends, if you want more endurance (for running) you should aim for exercises you can do more than 15-20 reps in one set. Also cossack squats are perfect if you re lacking mobility in your legs

one thing about stretches, you shouldnt stay in a certain range of motion for more than 2 seconds(for example touching your toes in a hamstring stretch) , that can reduce strength later on your workout (it would also eeduce your endurance for running)
I m talking before your workouts/as a warmup, you can do these type of stretches at the end of your workouts
