Local network but not your gaming machine, are you sure you are using the right IP?
did you just do a ufw allow portnumber or did you do a ufw allow portnumber/udp ?
Iโm getting a ton of texture pop-in
1st one
Usually the game is on an NVME SSD, now the server is on SATA SSDs
for everyone wondering about ports, now is a good time to brush up on your wireshark skills
add the /udp ufw sometimes doesn't handle it correctly and will only put them in as tcp
They sometimes tend to get stuck in a "Build" state (blue color) and you can just place 10-20 blue belts in a row (and wait for a miracle, i guess).
Also, a very frustrating surprise awaited me in the Experimental build... the trains now have collision. So if you have a 2 to 1 merged track - the trains will hit each other (sometimes they will be destroyed and sometimes just stuck there in an endless "try to move" loop)
Maybe, but the server logs will pretty much show the hang up
Yup get that as well then they tend ot timeout after a while
or brush up on SDWAN.
Would spend more time filtering out chatter than it would take to just read the logs and adjust
@desert finch Also seem to be specific with a segment. Whats also interesting when multiple clients were looking at it all of them had the same problem. Which suggests its failing to send the required information or something to all clients
i heard if the ports are too close together it causes conflicts
leave 5 ports between servers
lol yeah my solution is using a hammer to flip a switch
Is anyone else having an issue with trying to have more than 4 players on a server/
I typically do 10, if i cant have a different ip
@fallen bison Then after a while it comes back?
I've edited the game.ini file and it still doesn't seem to work
hows performance for you guys??
Then vanished again....
Steam likes to grab random ones at times
if i get other players on my server id be happy to test it
Server and client game.ini modified?
Mine is modified and the server game.ini are both modified
I guess player count doesnt need to be applied in both
THIS has to be done on client as well as server
did they update again my game is saying server and game are not the same version
If you remove the resources - yes
@jovial warren who has to open 7778 btw ? Host or client ?
i have my net quality on ultra - curious if that increases it, or if the server defaults are the max
Host
Host
Ok, cant connect then :(
Do you have a specific reason to adjust the bandwith limitations?
load faster?
ive got a fairly quick internet connection
and my server is on the same LAN
ive been getting texture pop-in
I'm not sure that the bandwith limits will help that one.
The recommendations to increase bandwith were mostly to get around multiplayer issues that aren't much of a problem anymore
I have the game.ini file modified, is there something wrong with that?
but if you still want to do it, just edit the relevant files on the server side, and see what happens.
make sure to set them to Read Only though, or every update will wipe out the changes
is it a way to remove a ghost player? that is still in a truck while being offline?
awww, the gif didnt post ๐ฆ
i got it lol
is it possible?
kill it
how do you find the IP address for a server?
xenozapper/basher/gun
how
Its the IP address of the host.
you get it from the person hosting
ok
hmm, tried that. also tested with a tractor, never goes below 50% HP
Does anyone have a dedicated server with more than 4 players on it?
or maybe deconstruct the vehicle? they might be invuln in the vehcile
yeah.....
but only really for a brief period of time
Have they had issues with the client saying the server is full
there is still a player inside, so cannot do that. The play respawned but is still driving it somehow? ๐ฎ
no because i changed the MaxPlayerLimit in the config file as described in the wiki
I've modified my game.ini and the server game.ini but it still says it is full at 4
Starting the server or updating it rewrites the game file unless you set it to read only
push the vehicle into poison gas? that should kill em
tried submerging it, no result.
is the commad maxplayers=x or maxplayerlimit=x ?
Did you restart the server? Also, player count doesnt have to be modified on the client
your running the server right?
update may have undone your changes
Windows or Linux, and which file did you edit (Full path please)
Did you set the file to read only? Check it again to make sure your edit is still in there.
idk, as a last resort maybe try editing the save in SCIM, there is a section that lists players, maybe you can remove the player from the save
./SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini
satisfactory-experimental/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor
how to do that? is it on the website?
here is link to SCIM https://satisfactory-calculator.com
were to go there? what category etc, where to upload file?
ok, that should be the right file (both of your filepaths @grand geode and @inner summit )
click on experimental if you are playing in that game branch
Yeah I know mine is right cause it works ๐
It still says server is full
Did you set it to Read Only? It re-writes the file upon server start
(Are your changes still in the file?)
click on experimental if you are playing in that game branch, then click interactive map, then drag your save file into the area that says to drag it there
ok thx
just uploaded file started server and now re downloaded, my setting that set the server limit to 16 is stil lthere
I did want clarification is the command maxplayers=x or maxplayerlimit=x ?
MaxPlayers=X
make sure spelling is with capitals too, i believe it is case sensitive
Hey is changing ports possible now like can I use something other than 7777 and 15777
https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Dedicated_servers
Read the first 2 paragraphs, it depends
some are overrideable, some are not (currently)
correct
I think I made a mistake yesterday it cost 4 hours ๐
Then I can offer people affordable hosting for satisfactory :)
If you can change ports you can host multiple I'dd say
however, since some ports cannot be redirected, multiple servers can only be hosted on a single machine
so that it can detect the other, and increment itself new ports
you would also have to predict this, and open appropriate port ranges on your router
I am upgrading my array so I can host more satisfactory servers if people want me to
10-12GB ram limit for each server should be more then well adequate
What is the supported numbers of players right now?
4 (Officially)
? (Unofficially)
Zap hosting is giving 126๐ค
Oh by the way the satisfactory save editor by Goz3rr has been updated to work for U5
They are taking too much money for low specs
<@&370483737957236737> I would like to request a place in this discord that folks like my self who do Server Hosting can advertise / promote deals and specials for Satisfactory instead of filling the main thread here with Adverts for hosting please.. It would help keep this channel clean and focused on issues that folks are facing with their servers.. Thank you..
127 is the hard limit
True I agree with Renegade
Would be a good idea Renegade
I would like all commercial postings to be relegated to not this server
agreed, this should be a tech channel, not a sales channel
Is there a list of commands & settings?
quit and server.SaveGame
currently known commands are quit, exit, and server.SaveGame "MyGameName"
@fluid turret did you intend to remove all of the automated solutions from the wiki? you reference them earlier on but removed the section entirely
not cool if that was >_<
Okay thank's
And what about server settings ?
Read the summary Phonic
Oh agree there KeyboardSquid, if one aims to host for cash then that should be done off discord
the summary just says "Source Edit"
PM if you want to join in on testing
There should be a list with all the current providers it will be easy for people to know then?

what is this ๐ฆ
Reddit might be a better place for that
and they can link to their own sites, or subreddits there
I mean in .ini files
I have room to host about 20-30 servers if anyone is interested. No sales pitch. All free of charge
I moved the automated solutions to their own page, the main page is getting way too bloated
reddit....<shiversmetimbers>
So I have restarted the server multiple times, I have checked the file multiple times. I still have an issue with when a 5th player tries to join it says server is full
Not to mention every time a company comes out with their solution and adds it to the page it gets longer and becomes ad space basically.
What do your server logs report?
It resulted in a massive drop - I'm going to change it slightly
Looks like it can't bind to the port 15777, do you have a firewall or something occupying that port?
You shouldn't rely on a wiki article for your advertising
Exactly, this is a place to discuss the game and it's development. I dont want to see advertisements here, even if they're a service for this game
i entered in the router configuration and opened that port
the point is that none of them have any visibility now, I'm just going to make sure that there's a header item so it doesn't get skimmed over
But is it open on your machine?
Most wikis wouldn't even allow what you put on the dedicated server article.
https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Dedicated_servers
There's 3 ports you need to open, make sure these are all added in your router if you want it accessable to people outside your local network
@fluid turret I've lost count of how many wikis have a mention of AMP in it xD
I didn't even write most of them
Has anyone had success setting up their Nitrado dedicated server?
I never heard of AMP before, I use LinuxGSM
in the router configuration i openes the port with the ipv4 that appeared in the ipconfic of my pc
i have done it
What am I looking for in server logs
Again, I asked about your computer, not the router
they're not really related, one is a web based panel for multiple users and the other is a shell script
i suppose no
Server you mean?
how do i do it
Look for the block of when player #5 attempts to join, and see what it says after. that
Quite right
You input your server data though the Server Manager, is that right?
what do i have to do in my conputer related to the ports?
Nothing
a
windows cause i tried on linux and nono
Turn off your firewall
Also foward port 7778
no
Temporarily, sure
tell ur software and shit that server can use ports and net
Youre behind a router right?
u just have to do whats on the wiki
okay looking at server files it shows me connecting and then this line comes
[2021.10.28-23.10.59:351][554]LogNet: PreLogin failure: Server full.
i used the ipv4 of my pc in the configuration to open the ports
you forward ports to teh server computer
i dont know what do you mean
Is 7778 really required? I have not done so andnpeople can join my server withour issue
client u just tell defender and such to behave
the server computer is my current computer
You forward ports to the server, not the client
its the same for me
Then no forwards are needed if connecting local
but i want others to connect
Can you connect?
Hmm my discord seems to have a life of its own it just replied to the wrong person
mouse was over the box to pick fill in text
i cannot even set the server cause it crashes
If you cant connect, you need to start there
so i set up a server on my pc but my freind cant connect to it and i dont know why
No it's not
Several have opened 7778 to get it working
15777 is the port that u have to be able to open
I don't have it open on my server, I think some are having network issues.
Not always the case.
i have it open
Sorry about that ping, my discord app seems to be living its own life on me, that or typing on my phone at 1 am is not angood idea
well good luck with it
yea still not working
if I set the port to 15000 or 7777 in the game the console gets spammed with this port 15777 does nothing to the console (still showing server offline on all of them)
Are you logged into steamcmd with the same account you are running the game with steam?
Anyone else unable to launch dedicated server via steamcmd after todays update?
server on steamcmd is anon login
i got mine running with the latest update.
You can log in.. was just checking
Huh, wonder why mine all of the sudden wont launch...
factoryserver.exe -log -unattended
I just ran the update on both server and client
Run the full install on server
trying that, thanks for the advice
Damn it sucks that I don't have a linux box on hand to test the server out, I'm using nodecraft and I can't get my update 4 save to load, but I can get it running if I use the windows client via steam
WSL or VM (Practically the same thing) work if you just want to purely test
Launching and running fine for me
@fluid turret btw the section on creating a service might need breaking out into its own page too. That section has got really long and messy.
WSL is markedly different from a VM; WSL environment binaries are running natively in Windows rather than on an emulated CPU as in a VM.
VMs are not an emulated cpu ๐
I had to muck about in the server to figure out how to load a save.
The directory on Linux is <HomeDir>/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/
Where HomeDir is whoever is running the Satisfactory Server process
no they arn't specially with Windows 11
not quite; it's in ~/.config/Epic/[...]
@fluid turret only in WSL2 tho, WSL1 was a different beast.
I know
WSL2 is even better then the first one. With WSLg you are able to run any UI nativly on windows, just like its installed.
Thanks all, nodecraft makes it fairly easy to actually get the save file onto the server (even if I managed to do it manually beforehand ๐), my issue is that when I try to load that file in the server, it immediately crashes and shuts the server down
If you EVER used mods on this save that added buildables, you need to make sure the references to all of these are gone from the save file or it will freak out and crash.
I rescued one save like this, but it was hours of work in Satisfactory-Calculator and VSCode.
This is the error I am getting when trying to launch my server on SteamCMD after the latest update. Has been working with no issues till now
the port is open so I dunno whats worng :/
My only experience with WSL is on a laptop I installed win 11 so excuse my lack of knowledge lol
did u give it an ip to send stuff to not 0.0.0.0.
The destination should be your server
Appreciate the tip, but I've not used any mods in the file at all ๐ฆ
a bound IP of 0.0.0.0 means that the process is listening on all IP interfaces. This is fine.
oh, i thought they were posting their router NAT rules
ok and i asked did he actually set ip for the shit to goto
what??
i didnt ask is this good or whatever
I thought you were posting your router's NAT rules, not the Server's listening ports
WSL is like LXC (Linux Container). VM (Virtual Machine) uses virtualised hardware. Containers (aka Partitions in Unix) run as a process within the hosting OS.
i have a friend who keeps crashing on joining my dedicated server i join fine and run fine but she crash she have bin on but now she crash every time she try to load in. anybody know why or have and idea to try
also is this normal? (port 15777 not showing when I use it)
dont set the port to the port the servers goign to need to use
u need those 3 separate ports but 7777 is a range not just 1 port
it goes 7777-7823 or so
7777 is 1 port
i know that is a port
but the server tries 7777 and if it cant then it goes up the rangte
just like all ue games do
you need 3 ports. and as the wiki says: 7777 is mandatory, the other 2 you can choose. so in your router, under NAT you set: External TCP/UDP 7777, 15777:15778 to internal <ip of your server> TCP/UDP: 7777,15777:15778 (where 15777:15778 can be different numbers to your liking)
any idea and how to fix this error
well, not all games just pick new ports. Usually they'll stop and say "the port is already in use, pick a new one" and die
ok enjoy that
yeah, use the right password
Yeah no not all UE4 games do thatโฆ
use the right password ๐
A majority of them donโt
im just trying to get the server working on my local network rn
but u guys enjoy the not working stuff .. ill be quiet
ok, lets say you have port 7777 and 15777:15778 set in the server's ini file. then you let the client connect to the 15777 port. And use the LAN IP of your server as address.
This is after typing the password and clicking join.
im using the IPv4 of the computer
to connect to it
Does anyone have a server avaliable with more than 4 players on at the moment?
thats fine.
I want to see whether it is my client or a what is causing me unable to have more than 4 players in my server. I have modified the game.ini file and I still cannot seem to have more than 4 players
@inner summit #looking-for-group-old
or search in here for stuff bogdan said and find what he said about max players
ok so why does 15777 not show up in the console? but 15000 and 7777 do?
Do you set up your server on the server manager page???
15777 is just the query port
server manager is for connecting to server
15777 is not used after a player connects
is there a list of known bugs/issues i can look at?
so it wont show up like this when I add it right (to my server list)?
You can send Questions, Feedback, Suggestions, and Bug Reports at https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/ - <3 @slim spoke
@desert finchDoes that apply to a Nitrado dedicated server as well?
7777 is fixed in the game at the moment. but the other 2 can be changed. So in your case they may be 15000:15001
its all default
have your client connect to the server on port 15000
client suggests its port .. if u just setup the server like wiki says
"This server apears to be offline"
Mean while this is spamed in console:
that indicates that not all of the ports are properly forwarded to the host running the service
But they are
actually... is there a way to check this?
so that indicates the host is listening.. check the router or firewall to ensure the inbound ports are forwarded to the host running the service
do a port scan
from lan side? or web tool?
running server on LOCAL network
Sorry, i don't know what that is
using the servers IPv4
depends on what you want, if you want to check the local connectivity, then local, if you try to get a connection from outside then outside
brb.
are all 3 ports active or check a specific one?
uhm, should be UDP and TCP
all 3 please ๐
or just check every port.
they are udp ports
all UDP and TCP
it's possible for the service to be listening behind a port that is closed by the firewall
do you have ufw running?
Nitrado is a server hosting company offering dedicated servers for Satisfactory.
with ufw or iptables?
if you want to use nitrado, just use the web panel of them . ๐
ufw
you could also try to disable ufw so there should be no problem. ๐
ufw I think is running??
get rid of the ipv6 lol
H o w
server is ipv4
did you install sdl and steamcmd on your server?
the server is up I can see console
okay, the UFW config looks clean
and yes
sudo ufw disable
of course it is lol
for testing purposes it is ๐
that's like saying "just go licking all the doorknobs you see until you find one you like"
disabling ufw will just allow all the ports right..?
yes
sigh
so make sure you enable it when you have confirmed its not the problem
just sudo ufw enable
"excuse me, I have to sneeze; let me take this facemask off first"
not probelm
remember yesterday guy cleaned ipv6 rules for dedi then shortly after his worked
does performance with MP still kinda suck?
how would I remove the IPv6 forwards?
ask the linux gurus
im debating migrating my singleplayer world onto my on-prem server and just playing through there
did you also make the symlink to the steamcmd.so as described on the install page's faq?
If you are behind a router anyway, ufw disable isnt really that bad
@weak island arent you using ptero? whats your issue
Server doesnt show its online in game
beacon port
or one of the others
theyre used as a "keepalive" check for the server
what query port did u assign
did you allocate all 3 ports to the server container
go to settings - nodes - allocation
type your ip in on the right, and for port do 15777
then do it again for port 7777 and again for 15000
then make sure your router has all 3 of those ports, UDP, forwarded to the IP of your server
@weak island is this server on-prem?
with your client, try using both the internal address and external address to connect
if it shows online with the internal address, its port forwarding/router related
if it doesnt, its allocation/ptero related
(im using the IP that has the arrow to connect to the server)
tried with external
youll get a FQDN or IP (not a 10.x.x or 192.x.x address)
wut
he is hostin on his comp with client
15000 is the beacon port
wtf is petro? ๐
Just confirming... Can run the server off Ubuntu correct
like this right?
use default port
so 15777?
I am not finding the dedicated server tool on steam.. any help?
beacon port is the "hidden" backend port the game uses to determine if a server is online or not
ye
yes
id reccomend the docker container
Kk ty
What's this site?
pterodactyl
self-hosted game server management panel
dedi server is in pinned messages
Ooob
its running on my Dell R730 i have at home
im just not havin any luck ๐ i keep getting an error saying it cant access the internet on steamcmd
sounds like a server issue
DNS or network connectivity in general
do ping 1.1.1.1
but why you want to run this instead of a docker container or even better a VM ๐
and ping google.com
this is a web-interface that runs backend docker containers
and lets you manage them thru a web panel
and host other servers too
i have minecraft, beamNG drive, 2 satisfactory servers, and a factorio server
all this is running inside a VM
and all the game servers run as docker containers
yeah but why tf would you want to use that ๐ Use docker directly instead with portainer or something like that ๐
is very pog
because i like having a nice web interface
no gui command line veyr hard to use
that gives me SFTP access, a web console, backups, etc
command line is easy
portainer is a gui btw
how are they?
this just makes it easier to interface with the servers, and its made for that
any ideas snow?
you can reinstall the server thru the panel to update
btw it keeps save files
settings -> Reinstall server
after I update it?
anyone use amp and know how to invite friends to server?
give them the external IP to connect
firewall ports opened?
wdym?
your server works
like on the AMP interface, right
local connection doesnt have to go thru forwarded ports
I'm using AMP, is there a way to view the save files for a dedi?
you have to hand them the external ip of your router and forward the ports to your pc on your router interface ^^
@full kraken its says server pending on my friends end
use the external ip u give friend and u can test ur server settings
your friend needs to start the instance if they're using AMP
im using AMP to start the instance do we both need it?
no just the host
Port forwarding.
i am trying to run server local but fails to start . nat detection failed .. is 2nd to last message but several other yellow and red...
AMP runs the game in server mode
7777, 15000 and 15777
it uses port range from #multiplayer-troubleshooting
i'm back with oddities. i can connect to the game from a pc on my lan, and the ports all show as listening on lan. on my router did a 1:1 port foward for all 3 ports, and using portchecker site, it says all 3 ports are still closed. now the issue: to test if i'm being blocked, i fowarded port 80 to the web interface on the same server, port 80 shows open, and i can connect to it from cellular network (not lan). delete rule, and port 80 is closed again.
not noted on dedi page
is anyone able to connect to mine? ndboost.com:15777
not updated ... will try if someone doesnt
server appears to be offline
^seconded
Nope, can't connect
Thank you
interesting, AMP says its running and the ports are forwarded
they're all UDP, right?
is the addy setup and active to ip
how are things running?
the instance is bound to 0.0.0.0
why cant i even get the server to run / open let alone get to connecting to it ..
u got ipv6 on by chance?
nope everything behind my router is ipv4
let me make sure its disabled in the interface
might have to get soemone u like to test the ip
thats fine, 0.0.0.0 just means any ip
I know that, I might just throw this on one of my linux servers in the cloud.
game migh not like the addy it might need ip
this AMP stuff is too much, lol
im not 100 on that part
24.250.107.194 port 15777
i'm running it with 0.0.0.0 at i'm connected
ip resolution works fine
when someone connects, where do they spawn in at for the first time?
hub
alright
Hi can someone help me? I'm trying to make a dedicated server but I'm really confused rn
pinned messages has link to step by step
tell us your problem, we will try to help
and also we are here
ok
So I'm using this video as a reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_mNOgyCn-k&t=229s
I didnt change anything, i just picked satisfactory from the dropdown and gave it a name, lol
however at 3:50 in the video when I launch the .bat file it gives me an error that says this, "Could not bind to port '15777'. Server cannot continue initialization.
did you forward the port from your router to your machine (if you are running local)
windows or linux? might be the firewall blocking
its windows, fw is turned off.
ya windows is annoying with the defender setting them up
yeahh, I can access it using the 192x
from a quick port scan I can tell that the ports seem to be blocked by your router.
id assume defender poopped up a widow that was missed since i missed 1 doing setup cause i didnt expect it and i was changing windows
sigh, like I said... maybe i'll spin this up on a linux VM I ahve in the cloud... theres a docker container now for it too.
he said its deactivated, so shouldn't be the problem
I played this game once with a friend to test it and then I paid it back. After a while our session went out of sync and we could no longer play together in any session. I was wondering if with dedicated servers that desynchronization would be corrected. As additional information, I cannot open ports because my ISP does not allow it. I have NAT TBD and so does my friend. We don't understand much about the subject and our native language is not English but I have a certificate in English and I can defend myself quite well.
We really want to be able to play Satisfactory, what little we played we really liked it and also the game has some concepts that I would like to study. If someone could give us a hand it would be great! ๐ถ
easier than futzing around with pfSense and winblows
my friend is trying to connect to my server and it just loops him connecting
dedicated server would fix that, yes
and make sure your network is configured as "ultra" in game settings
nat tbd doesnt mean anything
that never worked right lol
it connects fine when it says strict and u cant play
I think the same but my friend is not sure !
Yes we did that!
im saying it almost certainly will help, especailly if you get a cloud server in a central region between the 2 of you
find one near your region
host has to tell defender more tehn 1 time to allow and make sure router and such all will open ports
is there a provider out yet for this?
either buy a pre-made server from some hoster, or spin up an AWS/Azure/google cloud VM and deploy manually
wdym?
provider? there is sites renting servers
the docker container is probably as easy as itll get
yeah there are some out.
docker seems easy as pie, I had it running locally
when you run factoryserver.exe does it open up satisfactory .. or does it just run - and then you open game and interact with the sever ?
it runs in the background for me
ah those providers
Hi quick question, when I put ports into my firewall do I select UDP and create 3 different ports containing 15777, 15000, 777 in inbound and outbound?
there is a floating giant object scanner in my world....
it has no collision though
@worldly bridge dosn't belong here. Post it on the QA Site
router settings u goto port forwarding and set the 3 up
network error when my friend tries to connect?
routers all diff so read the manual if needed
i'm using a dedicated server, and rejoining the client removes the object
use the lan ip 192.168 blabla
not to your router, you to set that in the router interface and forward the ports to the server (PC)
I think its the ordering of the ports on the AMP configs
follow the steps to send 3 ports to the ip for the server comp
or you could prob ask your ISP to help you. ๐
any dedicated servers open?
most arnt putting up public servers
satisfactory.snowlab.tech
gotcha
woop
well i got further today .. be back tomorrow with more dumb questions ๐
there are no dumb questions, we all started small and had people helping us. ๐
i was about to ask whats my external ip .. but then i got gud and googled it ๐
hello i have our dedicated server online i'm playing on but my friend can join it some know what i miss?
prob forwarding the ports on your router, firewall blocking........
millions of problems ๐
local dosnt use the net to connnect so u could be on and its not setup right for ports
okay this might sound dumb, but where can I find the external port number and internal port number?
The friend is the house of the server
it should be the same. ๐
how can i find all 3 ports the server has auto-allocated
preferably without wireshark
Internal Port is the one on your pc and external how you want people to connect from outsite. ๐
That won't work if their friend is not in the same house as where the server is hosted
can someone try ndboost.com:15777 one more time?
ModoQc โ Today at 8:50 PM
The friend is the house of the server
still offline ๐
FML
if the ports are open on your firewall and the router and you give someone your external ip .. it "should" work?
Apologies. I missed that!
kk, linux & in the cloud time
so... I'm assuming that I have to put 15777 in external port?
np
yes
right
then how do I find my internal port?
well, i'm using AMP, I start the 'satisfactory' ADS instance, then go into manage, and click start.
it should be the same. ๐
ndboost same thing
I'm able to connect to the game fine using 192.168.x
ohhh so I literally put 17555 in external and internal
yes
is the AMP setup on your local network?
try telling it to use ip of ipv4 internet adapter
did you port forward the ports to the 192.xx address on your router?
do I also need to do the same to 15000 and 7777?
yes
yes
alright thanks
are their companies setting up satisfactory hosting . like i have minecraft one for my kids ?
yes
invalid auth token?
every major service should have one up and running within minutes. ๐
tf
My server is showing as "offline" in game, but yet it is online and running , and the game is not even trying to ping/check it??
ports not allocated right
prob port issue ๐
15000, 7777, and 157777 forwarded/open?
ports are open
also check firewall on the host. ๐
and if u run other servers or ue games u should forward the port range for 7777
not just the 1 cause if that fails it uses port from the range that wont be forwarded
already checked
so I added the ports to my router however when I try to launch the .bat for FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended it crashes the cmd and says this Could not bind to port '15777'. Server cannot continue initialization.
you better place ranges of ports, because they can increment on occupied
hmm it pings on the private Ip but not public hmmmm
so what should I do right now?
check if an instance is running allready. if the server can't bind on the port its prob, because there is something allocated to this port
if something can't bind something else is already using that port
your router might not send the traffic back to you.
how the fuck do i find out the auto allocated ports when i have more than 1 server
i own dedicated servers
how do I check if an instance is running already?
windows or linux?
linux
use ranges the ports increase when occupied, only the 15777 you need to increment yourself
netstat -a -udp
Whatโs that give you?
i know that, but i need to manually allocate the ports to the docker containers
the ports are already open
netstat -plnu | grep UE4 will show you the association of ports and PIDs, each PID is one server instance
your docker should detect that that port is reserved by another docker and pick the next one
im using pterodactyl which has manual port allocation
Yeah, great, but on what adapter?
Because if itโs โpingingโ on the private IP, not that you can ICMP to a gameserver and get a meaningful response, then youโve bound to that and not external.
no netstat on ubuntu
use ss rather than netstat then; same arguments
Which you can fix with the -multihome=<ip>
no the ports don't respond, tested that out
i can connect to the server, then i get invalid auth token
the server is running in docker
yes i know
Do yourself a favour and set the ports via commandline instead of letting it do it for you.
We try all ip int ext with all port
Letting it do it for you is asking for a doubled up port or two
if i friend want to join he take port 7777 to play
i cant - read the wiki
i'm getting a server name now! ๐
it auto increments 7777 and 15000
15777 not 7777
game uses a range not just 7777
when i add the server it say offline but im on the server
open/forwarding ports 7777-7827 UDP (firewall and on router)
multiplayer troubleshooting from the devs
it shows up in the list
You join via query port not game port
the ports are open
this isnt a port issue
im getting invalid auth token
for some reason
try to update, i had troubles when not updating it
its updated
Hi is there another way to make a dedicated server instead of having it launch in your files?
Have you tried?
I know it says you canโt
But have you tried it.
both query port and beacon port have been set manually and opened properly
Just purely out of curiosity
any1 willing to join my satisfactory server to test if i have set all the ports correctly
its not a port issue
Well no auth is a password issue
invalid auth, not no auth
i think its trying to connect to my other server
same pc
it times out while trying to connect for me
anyone else have the current objective disappear?
ye
weird...
why is my server trying to use 7777 when another server is already using it
smh....
wait
startup command might be using the old -GamePort paramenter instead of -Port
guy what is you startup command look like?
it starts on 7777 then goes up the range i said before
port u set is 15777
the connection starting port
i know, i mean the server startup command was using the old -GamePort parameter, so it defaulted to 7777
thats first port the server code tries in the range
i know that
kind of a ue thing
ye
well u asked why is it using lo
wahoo i fixed it
congrats
no its because i was manually setting it to 15889 in the command
but it wasnt working
welp, found my problem... the online port scanners were looking not scanning for UDP ports, but instead TCP. when i switched to a UDP specific scanner, it showed the ports were open...
right tools test the wrong problem
I made a tool called PowershellGSM to Install, Backup, Update and Start Satisfactory dedicated servers on Windows using Powershell.
It is faster than the other available tools, It creates lighter and more targeted backups and lighter shared game servers installation.
You can download it from Github here : https://github.com/patrix87/PowerShellGSM
(It also supports a lot of other game servers)
uh power storage not storing power?
it should try asking in room for ea or exp
For those of you who got dedicated servers running, how powerful of a CPU does it require? Is it similar to the base game, or could you get away with a weaker CPU?
fairly powerful id say
matters more with a big factory..
OK, guess I'll skip trying it on my raspberry pi lol
yeah bad idea
@idle flower
needs 6gb ram minimum too
forward port 15778
can only do on pi4 with min 4gb and using emulation so u want 8
Mine has 8gb RAM, but the CPU does about 150 on cinebench r20
you need to port forward 15000-16000 and 7777-7900. this worked for that error msg
It did an astroneer server OK in the past (although lagged heavily with multiple players)
lol 7777-7827
more like 4.5 gigs in the first stages of the game
lol who gives a fuck if it works
Maybe the Raspberry Pi 5 will be powerful enough to do it
people who like security not just opening the net up and hoping the best
prob not until steamcmd is ported to arm cpus....
if u just slap ranges like that u might as well upnp
laughs in Windows 11
first of all doesnt mean they are open, just means the computer will get that traffic
I'm poking around but how do you set the server to run the game when no players are online?
got kicked/disconnected from my server,(time outed i think) rejoined and it reset my player..........
setting in server manager ... dont tell it to pause
means u got assigned new character cause it cant find ur eos info
iv restarted both the game and server...
it reset my player
went back to the last location and i dont see my player anywhere
if u killed server it might not have saved it
did u wait for autosave or use save cmd
restore from back fixed the issue
I know its not supported, but, is there a way to change the amount of players for a dedicated server like the regular MP yet?
is there a way to ping my computer thats running my network to see if the port is open
use a port scanning site and tell it udp ports
https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/qgahno/state_of_dedicated_servers_in_satisfactory_update/ This guy got his server to 50 apparently
ya but u cant play the game
its the same as the record setting attempt for connections.. just shows the game isnt good enough to hold the 128 the engine supports
my servers showing up as offline for a friend for some reason
make sure 3 ports are opened
u might need to forward more ports for hte 7777 depending onwhat u run
that tries the port and if fails it goes upto 7827
it goes 7778 7779 ......
@errant vessel unfortauntely, I am on linux, and that folder structure isnt the same from what I can tell.
wish they would make it so when u goto add server it doesnt hide the ip by default
https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/qgahno/comment/hi4vswj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 more referring to this guys comment thread
really its just proof that it can be done, don't see where he shares HOW to do it
I asked him how he did it lol
~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/ this looks like where the game files will be, maybe the ini is in there and its plaintext
if you get lucky it will just be like maxplayers=4
u can change max players on dedi
yeah theres other folks claiming theyve done it but not sure how on our server
@slim spoke Do you know how?
Do the servers auto save at all?
yes
how often?
prob default 5 mins
cool, ty
lots of bugs so far
dissapearing entities, textures not loading in full res, stuttering, rubberbanding
rip
ur comp might not be fast enough or something
i was just on someones server it was smooth
8vcpu and 8gb ram allocated to the server
desktop is r5 3600 and 2080s
its smooth, yeah, but ill randomly get stuttering or teleport a bit
or if i move quickly somewhere textures wont load
i notice it most on my big save
thats from syncing
if ur on same comp as host and its doing that then its not keeping up
seperate PCs
ok so it should keep up if host comp is enough
not client
try network quality setting also
if thats not max its slowing things down
whats your network quality set at at the host comp?
gotcha
i manually increased the network bandwidth in the .ini files to the max
might just be a version conflict too
in it rn and its fine
i onky have 1 and its not currently processing anything
those are just endless work loops wasting cpu
any console commands yet?
wiki has the few there are
basically exit and save game
they are fixing to stable and good before going nuts adding things
I just woke up and restarted the server, after it updated objectives no longer display on the client
only the best true and false - ture and flase lolol
hahaha
where is the config file for server by default? it did not show up in the location described in the wiki for me. steam install btw
Blooean values I see
Thereโs no true โconfig fileโ as most of it is setup via you jumping into the game and setting it up that way.
The .ini files are within the FactoryGame/ somewhere in the root of the install
If thatโs what youโre looking for
im trying to increase max number of players for server
Yeah thatโll be the game.ini
not all the inis are in the server .. some u have make the file and fill with proper stuff
search how to increase player limit
Server configuration seems to persist to ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame
think that finds post
FactoryGame/Saved/Config/<OS>/ is where the ini files should be
But I can assure you with a default install via steamcmd those files are there
Looking for Game.ini
Have to add
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=X
Where X is the number of players
FactoryGame is ambiguous...there's two folders with that name....
/home/user/.config/Epic/FactoryGame
/home/user/.steam/steamcmd/SatsifactoryDedicatedServer/FactoryGame
The saves are under ~/.config; the server and configuration are (ironically) in the FactoryGame directory found at the installation directory
Correct, just really easy to confuse the two for someone who's looking for files and doesn't know where they are...and someone says "they're in FactoryGame"
When I try to connect from an external ip I just get Offline Server name pending server added
Heheheheheheh, as long as it works!
Can the same server instance host multiple maps, or does it need to be multiple instances, one per map?
multiple servers
ok, kinda thought so... (increment in ports etc.. heh)
yes
k
I have one save at final of U4, and even though the factory itself is a CF inside, it sent the final item in the elevator for U4. hehe been waiting ๐ but we started another one while waiting for the drop, and that is the current on our base server hehe
A single server can host several maps, or saved games, but can only actually run one at a time
Thanks. ๐
and restoring a U4 save on U5, did bring the explored map portions back. ๐ I just have a tiny little bit of rebuilding to do... map vs rebuild...... heheh
I'm so happy with how the log monitor I setup is working, works great for showing which CL version is supported when it is restarted to update.
Not yet, need to do some refactoring of the code before I'd share it
It also is working off Pterodactyl's API, and isn't configured in any way to read the log file outright, so unless you are using Pterodactyl, it's not very useful at the moment.
Anyone else have the game crash whenever they try to load into their dedicated server? Restarted the game client 5 or 6 times and always crashes just when I load in.
Does anyone know if there is a console command to see what version of the game you're running on a server
Im just trying to figure out if a server I have up properly updated
you can look at server's output log to find it, or you can ask the query port if you know how to code a simple udp client
Thanks, literally just tried setting it up yesterday, guess I can try to ftp the logs from the server
ok that worked cool
The game client will also tell you if the server version doesn't match the client version, though it won't tell you the actual version number from the server
can i start server even if i have game on epic games ?
i tried but if i double click factoryserver nothing happens
you dont double click it you have to run it with some arguements to see that its actually working
yes, that's my question where and how would i add that arguments?
run cmd in the folder where you have FactoryServer.exe then put in this command
FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended
You know how to run a command in cmd at a specific folder location?
So I have a hosted server, and it's working great, except I can't get it to switch off of Prviate to Friends Only, to allow me to invite anyone.
hahahah no
That setting does not matter, they connect via IP
Saying Invalid Token
It's hosted on a service
What egg you using?
So, is the train not unloading issue a dedicated server only thing or is it all trains?
@waxen crescent find the folder path for FactoryServer.exe
It would be something like this "C:\steamcmd\steamapps\common\SatisfactoryDedicatedServer"
Then in Command Prompt(CMD) do this
cd C:\steamcmd\steamapps\common\SatisfactoryDedicatedServer
Replace with your path
then run the initial command I said, FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended
Hi guys, are there already hosting providers jumping in on the dedicated expirimental, or not yet?
not that I am aware of but they are working on it
@crude tapir you shouldn't have to care about that give them your IP and the pass word you set for the game and it'll let them in I have mine on private and with the password they can still play
Survival servers offers a satisfactory ready server
Which service and have you opened the right ports and firewall settings?
some do offer just renting a server period and you can run whatever you want from it
Sil, are they just going to Server Manager in the menu as well, and punching in the IP, correct? Or are they joining from inside the client via the console commands?
I'm not sil but on mine they just use the server thing and join
Honestly just buy a VPS and use linuxGSM its 2 commands to get the server installed, all dependencies and running. Most hosting providers wont give support for experimental software
Server Manager > Add Server > Punching in IP yes
Yes, multiple, but we've been asked not to advertise here.
All users who wish to connect admin or not use server manager
Check, thanks. I'll consult Google ๐
So back to my question about trains, is it a dedicated server issue or a everything issue of them not being able to unload?
@crude tapir DM me the answer to these questions
Which hosting provider
Have you opened the right ports
Have you allowed the ports to pass your firewall
I've tried adding the unload to the train itself I've tried just adding the locations I've tried setting both the unload and the load on the train.. but can't seem to get it to unload at all
Trains in general are very buggy on U5 cause of the changes to collision and such.
OK I'll just hope for an update then
I was so annoyed I just put a new train on the track and rammed the other one and left them at the bottom of the ravine
mildly satisfactory ๐
Ok, we got it worked out! He was entering the wrong port
nice
Are you sure if its listed in there. Im having trouble finding it in the output log
trying to control f 5.0. and version, so far its not there
The line looks like this
LogInit: Net CL: 170618
thank you I was looking for the wrong words
got it
i have a problem with my server atm.. i was configurating my server settings when my client side crashed while i was putting in the Admin password.. and now i cant Authenticate cause the password is not correct i have tried deleting the server and reinstalling it but it still has the same server name and information stuck to it i have been trying to find the files in question but im at a loss.. anyhelp would be great..
i have been trying to find maybe a server config file with the password in it but i haven't found anything yet.
yeah no there is no passwords stored in plain text
windows or linux?
Windows
you can install the server tool again but a different path to get a fresh version
On Windows, the server settings are in a file in %localappdata%/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames
then delete the old server files
ok, I'll step out .. nfi where windows stores them
not going to help him much
ill try to delete that folder and relaunch server see if it makes me redo the configuration..
GL
All of your save games are in that folder too if you play on that pc, so be careful about deleting the whole folder
i dont have any lol i never got to make a game because i cant make one.. because of that password issue lol..
maaan I got so much FPS back on my f'ed up save
local 20
server 50
nice
So guys, how are the servers?
chroot is it on same comp still? the server
Hello I am French and I am wondering how to find the update versions for the servers if anyone can help me thank you
They almost eat as much ram as chrome
