drifting hatch
#

It should do, how are you typing it?

#

name:port

fallow shale
drifting hatch
#

It doesn't resolve, perhaps the first problem

fallow shale
#

Huh it seemed to have worked tho :c. Do you know how to troubleshoot it ? I'm so not knowledgable in that area.

drifting hatch
#

I'm not super familiar with DDNS but I assume you're using a client to update?

fallow shale
#

Yes the duckdns client

drifting hatch
#

Is that definitely the name because it doesn't exist as an A or AAAA record

fallow shale
drifting hatch
#

It doesn't resolve, there are no records, let me query the auth directly one sec

fallow shale
#

Funilly enough a port checker is able to see that the 7777 port on that address is open :D

drifting hatch
#

Their ns1 and ns2 aren't even chatty xD

fallow shale
#

i don't even know what that means :D

drifting hatch
#

Could be my blocklists but I've tried querying their primaries by IP rather than name and they are not talking to me xD

fallow shale
#

So my Router is saying that this dynDNS is active at least.

drifting hatch
#

I'll try it from my Akamai instance, out of this network

#
;; communications error to 99.79.143.35#53: timed out
;; communications error to 99.79.143.35#53: timed out

;; no servers could be reached```
#

Not chatty xD

fallow shale
#

Hm :c

#

Sadge

#

Then I'll probably just contact my ISP to request a static ip...

drifting hatch
#

I've tried most of their listed, none of them are talking to me

fallow shale
#

Thank you for trying tho

drifting hatch
#

The name doesn't resolve, at least as far as I can try, grab a static is the best solution, or use IPv6. Not sure what is going on at duckdns but their primaries aren't talking

#

Even if I hit Google DNS, it doesn't resolve A or AAAA

#

#

Whatever happening at duckdns... it no work xD

#

Are you sure that's the name?

hidden forge
#

DuckDNS can be quite slow
Open a cmd/powershell/shell window, run "nslookup <domain>" to check if it resolves correctly

fallow shale
#

Already contacted ISP and requested a static ip, so i guess I'm fine for now. Thank you for the input tho.

drifting hatch
#

Yes static is the best solution

#

Request a static v6 delegation while at it, if you don't already have one xD

#

IPv6 is the optimal solution

drifting hatch
#

It doesn't resolve @hidden forge at least when I tried

#

It does at least resolve its own name xD

my dedicated server was using 100% of my cpu somehow causing a massive thermal throttle at 99C, after restart it dropped to a stable 10%. before anyone asks i have a i5-9600k 4.3Ghz so i dont think its a CPU bottle neck especially after stabilisation from a restart. is the game know to do this? can i have the server restart every 12 hours instead of 24?

drifting hatch
#

Well firstly 100% should not result in 99C and/or thermal throttling, so at first you need to look at your cooling solution. I haven't seen the game do this no

remote robin
#

mate putting a cpu on full load for a long time can defintiley put it near 99C not listening anymore

drifting hatch
#

Then your cooling solution is totally inadequate

#

You can ignore, you can deny, do whatever you want, but the reality is that your cooling solution is not adequate. Simple as pie

#

I bet your not even hitting AVX512 silicon, you're just hitting the FPU, if it's hitting 99C, you're in trouble man

remote robin
#

who r u talking too lol?

drifting hatch
#

You?

remote robin
#

i said i wasn't listening to you?

drifting hatch
#

It's to, not too

#

Well why don't we try to fix it instead of this not listening thing?

remote robin
#

because this server reaching 100% load is not normal as seen by the restart so cooling clearly isn't the issue. fucking hell mate im sure everyones cooling could be better but its not the issue

#

why dont you replace your thermal opaste every month

#

i literally built 2 pc's and reach idle temps of like 30c on gaming pc with a dark rock pro 4 i know how to cool a pc

#

the server pc doesn't use the dark rock pro 4

drifting hatch
#

Okay two things here - 1: there is clearly a thermal issue, regardless of the reason, 100% load should not result in the CPU hitting TjMAX, so that is an issue in itself. 2: - need to figure out why the server is reaching 100% load, is it core-bound, or in general

remote robin
#

okay but i have seen highs of like 90C on my 5800x with a dark rock pro 4 at 4.6Ghz so 90's are definitley possible under full load no matter how good your cooling is

#

the dark rock pro 4 is quite literally near one of the best beefiest coolers on the markest

#

and it can't stop CPU's from hitting 90's under full load especially when over cllocked

#

depending on how modern cpu is etc and effecient

drifting hatch
#

That gen does run hot yea, not denying that but 100C is too hot, it doesn't run that hot, something must be up

#

Like I said, you're not thrashing the worst-case silicon

remote robin
#

100c is just the thermal throttle set by AMD nd intel

#

pretty much every cpu is different

drifting hatch
#

All I'm saying is that something seems wrong if you are hitting TjMAX doing Integer and FPU

remote robin
#

some throttle at 105

#

some throttle at 95 etc

drifting hatch
#

It's just not normal. If you are thrashing AVX512 cores on Intel for example, that produces extreme heat, but you don't sound like you're doing that, you're just piping into the FPU(s)

#

You got a cooling solution problem from what I can tell

hidden forge
remote robin
#

yeah i know what you mean now. like task scheduler and make a bat script? and set an interval to run restart every 12 hours? i already use a similiar script on task scheduler for duck dns so im sure i can do it

drifting hatch
#

Doesn't detract that you need to deal with your cooling problem first. Hardware first, Software 2nd

#

and you seem to have a big problem

waxen meadow
#

Hey guys! Hope you are all well. I was hoping to get a bit of help (I have tried searching the discord but can’t find anything so coming here as a last resort) my friend has a ROG Ally using a controller and doesn’t have a M & K so he can’t seem to click on join server - has anyone had this issue or found a war around it? Thanks!

Hello, Im running a Deticated server with the docker app and i am able to see it on my network. yet when i try to load a save i have a Navmesh bounds are too large. has this happend to anyone else? this is true from a new save and a uploaded save.

#

I see that this is not a new issue on here but im looking for guidance I cant load any save as i get kicked off

hidden forge
#

@celest plinth any mods installed?

hybrid island
#

Hey guys. I have a wired question about the dedicated servers. I got the game and dedicated server from epic, I set it up and I can play on it. But I cant figure out how to invite friends to it. He plays throu steam. Its a local server, when he enters the ip4 and so on, it says its offline. Is there any documentation somewhere i missed?

drifting hatch
#

Which OS are you running the server on?

hybrid island
#

Windows. I think I finlly found the error, I need to portforward 8888. Im going to try it when I get home. Im at the office right now. Is there a way to get the game we have been playing, the save file, to the dedicated server, or will we have to redo it all?

drifting hatch
#

Yes as of 1.1 you need to forward 7777/udp 7777/tcp and 8888/tcp

#

Don't need to redo anything

#

Just make sure the server is running on standard ports and forward those 3

hybrid island
#

Ok, but the saved game. With all the progress and unlocks and stuff? So far we have just completed tier 6.

#

Can I just load that save in to the server?

drifting hatch
#

That is not an issue as far as access is concerned, yes you can load the save onto the server for sure

hybrid island
#

Thanks alot. Ill try it when I get home. Thanks for the quick answers. Im very new to this game.

drifting hatch
#

In server manager ^

#

Just remember to portmap exactly as the server is running, so by default at mentioned, 3 ports need to be firewall open (wiki describes how to do this on Windows), 7777/udp 7777/tcp 8888/tcp. Must be open on the firewall and portmapped precisely the same. Clients will connect on the standard port by default, i.e. 7777. The server will tell the clients to chat on 8888/tcp for reliable messaging, so it's essential that the port mappings match up

#

It's in the wiki under the "Port forwarding and firewall settings" section, but if you want to implicitly run the server then it's switches like this:
-Port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888 -ExternalReliablePort=8888

# hidden forge You said you "get kicked off". When and how does this happen?

When I try to join my dedicated server, it shows up in the list but when I connect it kicks me back to the main menu. The server status shows Idle / Server Name Pending and gives the message “You need to create or load a game before you can join.”

In my logs I see things like:

LogGameState: Match State Changed from EnteringMap to WaitingToStart
LogServer: Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed

I already have a save file (zaxcvbnm_autosave_0.sav), but the server doesn’t seem to recognize it no matter if I put it in Saved/SaveGames/ or Saved/Server/. When I create a new world, the .sav just goes straight into the root of Server/ with no subfolders.

(zax) is a new save as i want to make it run first before i load a save.

drifting hatch
#

Does the save work if you load it locally?

celest plinth
#

Yes, the save works fine if I load it locally in singleplayer — no issues at all. The problem only happens when I try to use it on the dedicated server, where it kicks me back out and says I need to create or load a game first.

drifting hatch
#

What does the log say?

#

LogGameState: Match State Changed from EnteringMap to WaitingToStart

celest plinth
#

drifting hatch
#

Not enough information to know

celest plinth
#

Yeah, that’s all I’m really seeing — the navmesh errors repeat over and over and then it just kicks me when I try to join. Is there a way to enable more detailed logging or grab the right log file so I can show you the actual cause?

hidden forge
#

@celest plinth what address do you use to connect and can you post your docker compose please?

drifting hatch
#

Yes show your docker-compose

#

Interested if anything just to see it

celest plinth
#

I’m connecting using 192.168.0.203:7777 locally (the server also shows up in the in-game server list).

Here’s my current Docker Compose:

services:
  satisfactory:
    container_name: satisfactory
    image: wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest
    ports:
      - "7777:7777/udp"
      - "15000:15000/udp"
      - "15777:15777/udp"
    volumes:
      - ./config:/config
      - ./saves:/saves
    environment:
      - MAXPLAYERS=16
      - PGID=1000
      - PUID=1000
      - DEBUG=false
    restart: unless-stopped```

The .sav file is currently in ./saves/Server/zaxcvbnm_autosave_0.sav, since that’s the only place it actually shows up when I create a new world.

Is there any information on how to fix issues with rubber banding? I'm using an indifferent broccoli dedicated server. Looking for anyone who may have experienced and fixed this.

Details
All players experience rubber banding for 5-10 seconds at the exact same time.
No Mods on the server.
Tried multiple saves.
Indifferent Broccoli migrated us to a different host.
Played with server settings for network quality.

# fluid thorn how do i create a dedicated server, can some one help me

A Windows 10 or 11 64-bit PC (Linux works too, but Windows is simpler to start).
• At least 8 GB of RAM (the server can eat 2–4 GB+ depending on your world).
• Good CPU (quad-core or better recommended).
• Stable internet if friends will connect externally.
• Enough disk space (10–15 GB is safe).

  1. Open Steam → Library → Tools
    Search for: Satisfactory Dedicated Server
  2. Install it just like a normal game (choose a drive with enough space).
  3. Once installed, click Play — it’ll ask:
    • “Start Server”
    • “Start Server with Console”
    • “Start Server with No Console”
→ Choose “Start Server” for your first time.
  4. A command window will open

Leave the window open- that is your running server

This is the strictly through steam setup

#

If you don’t want to use Steam/Epic:
1. Download SteamCMD (Valve’s server tool).
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD
2. Open a command prompt in your SteamCMD folder and run:

steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit

This downloads the dedicated server files to a subfolder.

3. Run FactoryServer.exe from that folder.
#

To setup the server

Launch Satisfactory (the actual game) on your PC.
2. Click Server Manager → Add Server.
3. Enter:
• IP: 127.0.0.1 (if hosting on same PC)
• Port: 7777 (default)
4. Connect — it’ll prompt to claim the server (log in with your Epic/Steam account).
5. Create a Session Name and save name, and choose your map (Grass Fields, Dune Desert, etc.).

Once done, you can now play locally or invite friends.

#

If others are joining from outside your LAN:
1. Forward the following ports on your router to your PC’s local IP:
• UDP 7777 (Game port)
• UDP 8888 (Beacon port)
• UDP 8888 (Query port)
2. Find your local IP:

ipconfig

Look for “IPv4 Address” (e.g., 192.168.1.105).

3. Give your friends your public IP (Google “what’s my IP?”).

They’ll connect using:

#

This should be it, reply if you still have issues or are confused

mild thunder
languid path
# slim stream i got 2 problems i can login locally but anyone else using public ip gets encry...
  1. the “EncryptionToken missing” connection error

  2. Game.ini changes not applying (like MaxPlayers)

1 (fix):

A. Make sure the ports are open and correct

Forward all three UDP ports to your host PC’s local IP:

Port Type Purpose
7777 UDP Game
8888 UDP Beacon
8888 UDP Query

Example: Internal IP: 192.168.1.105
Internal Ports: 7777-7777, 8888-8888, 8888-8888
Protocol: UDP

Then verify they’re open using a site like http s://www.youget signal. com/tools/open-ports/ (while your server is running).

OR

Disable or configure your firewall properly
• Temporarily disable Windows Defender Firewall to test.
• If that fixes it, add inbound rules for FactoryServer.exe (and for those 3 UDP ports).
1. Go to Windows Security → Firewall → Advanced Settings
2. Inbound Rules → New Rule → Port → UDP → Specific local ports: 7777,8888,8888
3. Allow connection → Finish.
4. Do the same for Outbound (optional but safer).

Also,

Make sure your friends connect to the right address

They should connect using your public IP (not 127.0.0.1, not LAN IP).

2 (fix):

C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\FactoryServer\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\Game.ini

this is where your file should be

Your Game.ini should look like this (minimal working example):

[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=6

make sure it uses Windows line endings (CRLF) — Notepad++ shows this in the corner.

After saving the file:
1. Stop the dedicated server completely.
2. Wait a few seconds.
3. Start it again (don’t just restart the service).

Then in-game:
• Open the Server Manager → check the player limit.
If it still shows 4, delete all configs in that folder and reconfigure again (the server will recreate clean ones).

Hey guys, i have a Windows Server used for Minecraft Servers but i want to run satisfactoy now on it, i have an IP Name so it isnt just random numbers and a specific port already opened, can i use that too instead of using the premade port and ip?

mild thunder
#

you can use a DNS name instead of the numbers, the ports can be changed, but it does take 1 port to be both TCP and UDP, and one TCP port, defaults are 7777 tcp/udp, and 8888 tcp

halcyon flame
#

do i need to provide a seperate 8888 tcp for it? and how can i configure the IP And ports?

mild thunder
#

how do you plan on launching the server, just clicking on it or something else?

halcyon flame
#

I installed the DS on Steam on a Windows VM

#

Like the literal launcher steam and not steamcmd

mild thunder
#

so right click on it and edit startup options "-port=xxxx -ReliablePort=xxxx" but port the ports you want in it

#

port is the tcp/udp port which is what you type in the client to connect, and the reliableport is what the server tells the clients for the secondary port that is tcp

#

it could be called launch options, I am not infront of a computer with steam installed right now

mild thunder
halcyon flame
#

could i just use the one port for both Reliable and normal port? Cause i dont have another one open right now

mild thunder
#

nope

#

if the port that is currently open allows both tcp and udp, could set it for the port, and be able to configure the server from the server manager in game, but you would be unable to join the world until the second port is open.

halcyon flame
#

okay, but what server manager? I only have a Command Prompt when i launch it throgh steam itself

when you launch the game client

Hi all I was hoping I could maybe get an answer to an issue that I am running into. I tried searching the discord and couldn't find it. I am currently running a dedicated server on Windows 11. I am able to login to the server and join it locally. But I'm trying to expose the service using a cloudflare tunnel but am running into issues connecting to it. I'm using it to forward port 7777. First it worked just by launching the .exe. Then that stopped working and i used the command .\FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -Port=7779 -multihome=<my-external-ip>. And now even this doesn't work.

took another glance through what was written out, are you sure that your router has a routable public IP address? a few ways to check, is to check to make sure the IP on the internet side of your router is the same as if you go to google for instance and ask it what is my ip, or if you go to wikipedia page for Private_Network, there is 4 ranges listed there and make sure that your IP is not in one of those

7777 udp/tcp is default main port, and 8888 tcp was added in 1.1

server communication starts with udp requests to 7777 then moves over to tcp 7777 to manage, and when you join the game it then also requires 8888 tcp. packet captured last week to see what it did

Hello everyone, I hope I can help someone with this. Recently, I was trying to set up a dedicated server on another PC so that my friends and I could play together without causing lag for anyone, and so the computer hosting the server could stay online 24/7. However, I ran into a few challenges. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much information available on YouTube (Brazil) in Portuguese. I opened ports 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP/UDP, but my friends still couldn’t connect — they would join and immediately get a “lost connection” error. After digging through the engine.ini file, I came across a missing line: (ServerVisibility=Public). Once I added this line, as shown in the screenshot below, my friends were finally able to join without any issues.

indigo igloo
#

Forgive me if a solution for this has already been posted but I would appreciate some help in solving this..
I hosted a dedicated server on a separate client than my main PC for my friends and I to play on. It functioned for months without issue. I set up port forwarding (8888/7777 tcp/udp) and configured firewall rules to allow connection. Again, it worked perfectly for months without issue. About 2 weeks ago, the server ran its automatic 24hr reset in the middle of the night and since then, despite the server being up and running, my friends cannot connect. They see the message “server name pending” and cannot connect. I have verified correct port forwarding, correct public IPV4 address for them to connect, and correct firewall rules but nothing works. I am able to connect using my main pc on the same network, but no external networks are able to connect. It sounds like a port forwarding issue but I’ve verified the port forwarding is correct and it also doesn’t make sense for it to suddenly stop working after months of continuous functionality. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you!!

Anyone know of a mod - or a way to trim the server - that will permenantly remove explored crash sites from the map? On my dedicated server, the scanner keeps showing me crashed sites (it was driving me nuts till I loaded it to an interactive map and saw there was nothing there)

hey all i've just hosted a local vanilla server for my wife and myself on a dedicated machine (via AMP) everythings on my local network so no port forwarding necessary,

the console feed is quite busy with these connection accepted logs (the ip addresses match up to our clients/pc's)

i was wondering if that's normal? and if not what the issue is?

Hello Pioneers. Running the game through Steam on Linux, and want to try running the dedicated server. I installed the server via Steam and it runs fine, I can move a save file for the server to use and I can access it and play. What I can't figure out is how to move that save back to my normal (Steam-game) saves to continue playing there (when away from the dedicated server).

no, in satisfactory, go to server manager, select your server, manage saves, download save

gotcha - maybe I wasn't admin. The download should be saved into local saves for the Steam-server?

I'll have to dig around in/for those directories this afternoon. Thanks @whole dome

Yeah something about TimeOut. I also cannot connect to it in the server Manager

Oh and Im running the container on OpenMediaVault

for dedicated servers you have to use the in Game server manager to connect, even just to play on it, can set a separate password for just playing instead of managing it.

Yeah but I get the message that It appears to be offline even when OMV says that its online and that the ports are open

on the OpenMediaVault is there another place to open up ports on? default ports are 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP

+ 2 other ones just like this. cropped it but it's the same logic with different ports
So when I `docker compose up -d` this bad boy, the containers start, but not only do they never appear online in-game, but also all my device's ports crash. Every service, game etc becomes unreachable until I reboot it.
#

Only thing that remains up are discord bots (websockets) and API that works through cloudflare tunnels. Anything that isn't reached through the port, basically.

#

Through the firewall I only opened the appropriate ports, only as UDP for the messaging port obviously, and same in my router. Double, tripled checked those.

#

Weird thing is that it used to work great on my previous machine with the same compose and port setup (so evidently I know how to do it) but not now.
Crashing all my ports entirely 'til reboot is really painful, too

I don't even know what this is, but looks like it's not something I could accidentally do. Just docker, on w11

#

For the sake of testing - starting a server via steamcmd manually etc works fine
Starting any dedicated server even on 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP makes the entire devices port crash.
Would it be a docker issue? thefuck

drifting hatch
#

If using docker I use wolverix/satisfactory-server, and there is a compose example on the github page

fallow crypt
#

Yeah, that's the one I followed. I tried using the exact same too, default everything, but the same issue occurs

#

I'm thinking this is a Docker issue more than a Satisfactory issue so I made a reddit post on r/docker about it, I don't wanna bother you here if it's not the place for it

drifting hatch
#

Could be a network issue for that container but generally those 3 ports should be exposed simply on the main host system and mapped to the container

#

I use Linux tho, not sure about W11

fallow crypt
#

It's a network issue with more than the container since all of the system ports become unreachable until a system restart

#

It's docker as a whole

drifting hatch
#

Could be something specific to W11 then, but only a guess

fallow crypt
#

Could be, odd thing though is that I had the exact same setup (and compose file) on the same machine two weeks ago, then I had to rebuild all my services/servers from scratch and now this happens for some reason

Might be because the CLI says

Hey everybody, me and a friend are renting a Satisfactory server form 4net players. Laggy as hell... When i contact them they say its normal since the update.... I dont know but is some of you guys renting a server fro msomewhere else that acts normal? Or are there really dedicated server problems since the last major update?

mild thunder

I haven't actually played much on mine recently but it seemed normal after the last fixes, self hosted server.

rancid swan

yeah, if i host a game also myself its very good

mild thunder

How big is the save?

rancid swan

but because its with a friend, and not able to play continuly together we said lets rent a server

bwah, i dunno exactly but it isnt that big you know, it was already laggy even when we aint started building computers and refinery's and stuff you know

but if i go to the support of 4net players, its also a cheap excuse... there is nothing wrong at our end of the server, blablabla

mild thunder

No I didn't try it but I can look at spec sheets and know what DS' are capable of
Also single CPU, the dedicated doenst really scale with more cores (or across NUMa-nodes). Faster cores are better than more cores

dusk cedar
drifting hatch
#

It's not entirely single threaded, my server with this large factory is using average 350%, i.e 3.5 cores worth of compute so it can't possibly be a single thread, infact htop lists 16* threads

(16 core CPU)

you run it on ptero?

Oh, docker

wolveix/satisfactory-server

dusk cedar

oh cool, just looked that up. Does it have web interface to manage the server?

drifting hatch
#

Not that I'm aware, but you configure the parameters and then do everything else in-game

#

It's all in the wiki docs on the github page, Environment Variables part - not all that much you'd want to change once set and running I guess

dusk cedar
#

its fine, i'm just curious. I am running on pterodactyl panel which is a bit more hard to install.

drifting hatch
#

Never tried pterodactyl panel but it looks nice

dusk cedar
#

just rebooted my server was thinking to reconfigure it with single core, but changed my mind

#

I can't figure out if the performance is effected by the internet or the server when we play in coop with 3 players at about 21:00 things get messy.

drifting hatch
#

It looks good yeah, I basically have to just look at the docker logs to see the equivalent if I need to access the console it can be done too but on the command line rather than embedded like that. There might be a way to combine the two

dusk cedar
#

during the other times there is no issues

drifting hatch
#

I'd say I would recommend keeping the 4 cores. Locking it down to a single core will surely impact performance, especially as your fac gets larger

#

If things get messy at certain times then it's the internet

#

Unless for some reason the server is doing more tasks at specific times, etc

dusk cedar
#

but the thing is we never play all 3 of us in other times other than in the evening

#

nah, its doing only ptery panel with satisfactory

drifting hatch
#

Ah right if that's the only time all 3 of you are playing it could be that too, overloading the server

dusk cedar
#

ii'm also wondering if lagging starts because one player has really bad internet. We are all local, but one players has really shitty computer and internet. Could that be the reason?

drifting hatch
#

I'd be surprised, perhaps, I don't know exactly how the game handles networking

#

Each client connection I imagine would be threaded, one bad connection shouldn't take it down for everyone else, that would be a bit weird XD

#

But shrug, not sure, I've only ever played on my own, just on my server

#

Can you test all 3 of you at a different time?

dusk cedar
#

yeah, probably this weekend

#

Earlier today I changed some settings on the host in bios .I turned of e-cores so that it will use only p-cores for the VM. Also upped the short duration power limits from 180W to 240W. The physical host has intel CPU Corei-9 13900

drifting hatch
#

Yeah I think there is evidence to suggest disabling the e-cores is beneficial in some gaming workloads etc. That's a very good CPU

#

Shouldn't be a CPU issue in that case with 3 players

#

Hard to say 🙂

#

Maybe it is the friend with the shitty computer 😉

dusk cedar
#

that's just a thought, but shouldn't be the case with dedicated servers

drifting hatch
#

Yeah I would be really surprised

#

People will be playing with all sorts of hardware

dusk cedar
#

and I came here initially to ask about running the server on Synology DS723+ lol

drifting hatch
#

Oh right haha

#

Well that escalated xD

dusk cedar
#

I am just waiting for the 64GB memory kit to arrive before I try it )

drifting hatch
#

Has that Syno got a decent CPU

dusk cedar
#

better than my current Syno DS918+ but still shit

drifting hatch
#

Yeah googled it, not great for a satis server

dusk cedar
#

i'll try it

drifting hatch
#

The 13900 is pretty good single core, and multicore, ticks both boxes

#

Fast single core perf is optimal, higher clock speed

dusk cedar
#

yeah yeah, i know, but I still want to run satis server on synology haha

drifting hatch
#

How are you spinning up the VM?

#

It's like a challenge - like running DOOM on a fridge

dusk cedar
#

vmware workstation on windows 11

drifting hatch
#

Ah right, for some reason I was assuming Linux, but that sounds perfectly good

dusk cedar
#

and the VM with ptero and satisf server is on a separate computer from my gaming coputer

drifting hatch
#

Yeah, ideal

#

Try throwing a few more cores at it maybe xD

dusk cedar
#

lol

#

how much memory is your server using ?

drifting hatch
#

I'll check

drifting hatch
#

7.6G when I am connected

dusk cedar
#

if you look at this page it says Favours higher single-core performance over multiple cores. If you are running Wings via Proxmox, you may need to set the VM's CPU Type to "host" to avoid session save/load crashes.

drifting hatch
#

I was going say set to host

#

It's saying there - single core performance is more impactful than multi cores, but it definitely uses both

dusk cedar
#

oh yeah

drifting hatch
#

I always set to host on my Proxmox server, maybe try that on vmware

dusk cedar
#

where is this setting?

#

so you have proxmox on the physical computer? what kind of CPU?

drifting hatch
#

Ah maybe that is referring to proxmox/qemu but a quick google suggests you have to edit the .vmx file for vmware workstation

#

It's a separate, Ryzen 5700G

#

Fairly cheap system overall

#

I don't use it for Satisfactory server

#

Satis runs on docker on a 12600K

dusk cedar
#

oh 12600k cool

drifting hatch
#

2 different boxes 😉

dusk cedar
#

my gaming PCs are 12900K and 13900KF

drifting hatch
#

My desktop is the same, 12900K

#

13900KF - very nice xD

dusk cedar
drifting hatch
#

All the time or just synthetic benches?

dusk cedar
#

my favorite is 13900 currently without the K which runs the coolest also with the water cooler

drifting hatch
#

I'm running satis now with this large fac and it's sitting at 62C

#

It easily hits 100C if I do a Prime95 or OCCT with AVX

#

But that's just synthetic benchmarking

dusk cedar
#

well, that's the same on my 12900K. That's why that K is there

drifting hatch
#

Yeah, unlocked multiplier

dusk cedar
drifting hatch
#

That's not bad for these generations, pretty fine tbh

dusk cedar
#

so, I have 3 PCs all with liquid CPU coolers - 12900K gaming, 13900KF gaming, 13900 just general workstation without the video card and now with VMware workstation and Satisfactory server.

drifting hatch
#

3 pretty darn good rigs

dusk cedar
#

when I run OCCT CPU/Memory tests all run hot except for 13900

drifting hatch
#

13900 will be lower clocks yeah

#

I personally don't worry too much about the heat in these benchmarks because it's basically impossible to cool this generation of Intel in synthetic benchmarks, but real world workloads it's almost always fine unless video transcoding, that really bumps up the heat

dusk cedar
#

but the OCCT CPU benchmark results are the same on 13900KF and 13900. Except 13900KF runs about 10-15 C hotter

#

the numbers are the same in the results between the two CPUs lol

drifting hatch
#

Sounds like the KF is hitting something, PL or temp or something and the resultant core clocks are effectively the same for both

dusk cedar
#

same kingston memory 6400

drifting hatch
#

Is that the multicore bench

#

I guess the KF isn't really that much faster than the non K variant looking online

#

5-10% faster, ish

#

I imagined it was faster but seems not xD

dusk cedar
#

its not faster, its just hotter in my experience it what I can see

drifting hatch
#

Maybe it should be the 13900RHE - Really Hot Edition xD

dusk cedar
#

hehe yeah lol

drifting hatch
#

Well for your server the 13900 should be killing it but I lack experience with more than 2 players, I think I did have 3 one time

dusk cedar
#

the thing is in my home office/room in the winter I turn off the heat and turn on the AC when i'm gaming because the room gets so hot from the computers

drifting hatch
#

Yeah 3 of those beasts is quite a bit, plus the GPUs

dusk cedar
#

The 13900 workstaiton and 12900K is in my home office room. The 13900KF is in a different room.

drifting hatch
#

Gotcha

#

Have you tried running the satis server just on the bare metal?

#

i.e. not in a VM

dusk cedar
#

no, and and don't think I will try it. I will try it on a VM in Synology 723+ and can't wait to try it.

drifting hatch
#

xD

#

The Synology Satisfactory Server 723+

dusk cedar
#

Last year on bare metal on this 13900 I was running Rust server also on ptero panel. It was good but I didn't like the fact that its on bare metal

drifting hatch
#

Yeah that's why I dockerize mine. It would only be for a test I guess but I wouldn't keep it that way I agree

dusk cedar
#

and your docker is running on what?

#

proxmox - VM - docker - satisf server?

drifting hatch
#

Ubuntu

#

Oh the proxmox is entirely another thing

#

This is just docker running on linux

dusk cedar
#

so ubuntu on bare metal, then docker with satisfactory server?

drifting hatch
#

Yea

dusk cedar
#

I had something similar last year with Rust server except I was running RHEL server on bare metal without GUI

drifting hatch
#

Ah nice. It's Ubuntu server, I do everything over SSH

#

It's a headless system in a box downstairs, no GUI installed

dusk cedar
#

cool cool

#

if you are good with linux CLI then why pick ubuntu?

#

I really like Alma Linux. I rent a VM on Amazon with Alma Linux

drifting hatch
#

I run Arch on another little system, Ubuntu / apt, it's just proven to me to be a very reliable package management system, pacman is good too, no real reason, it's just Linux at the end of the day in a certain flavour

#

Alma is nice yeah

#

It's used quite a lot in docker images/containers (at least ones I have tried xD)

dusk cedar
#

I messed around with Ubuntu / Debian years ago with apt, but I really like Red Hat yum package manager a lot better.

drifting hatch
#

Ubuntu for a server is just convenient with a good package manager and a very wide range of packages available, but totally not the only option

#

If you like yum you might like........ Amazon Linux xD

#

or maybe Fedora xD

dusk cedar
#

Amazon Linux is based on red hat, and I did try it

#

Fedora is not a good choice for a server, only for the Desktop its good

drifting hatch
#

Yea true true

#

Then again no reason why it can't be a server, all these distros are capable

dusk cedar
#

do you have Amazon AWS account?

drifting hatch
#

I do but I don't have anything spun up at the moment, I have a Akamai nano node to run my email

dusk cedar
#

Did you try Amazon Lightsail? Its a simplified version of AWS Cloud.

drifting hatch
#

Only EC2

dusk cedar
#

yeah EC2 is very complex, use the same credentials to login to AWS EC2 and click on Lightsail

#

it is simplified and has a lot better user interface

#

get yourself a free VM there

drifting hatch
#

I'll check it out, thanks

#

With EC2 I was just using SSH certificates

#

Can't remember what I was running there, might have been Amazon Linux

dusk cedar
#

Amazon Linux is red hat based

#

with yum package manager

drifting hatch
#

Yea

dusk cedar
#

in my opinion Alma is the best now for home server, which is what I have in VMware workstation

drifting hatch
#

I'm going to spin up Alma on the proxmox when I get a moment and check it out

dusk cedar
#

if you get to it, install alama minimial ISO and mess around with it

drifting hatch
#

Will do

dusk cedar
#

Alma is red hat based, so also yum

#

and don't install Alma Linux 10 yet. Install 9 or 8 which have a lot more things supported like pterodactyl for example lol

drifting hatch
#

Good tip xD

dusk cedar
#

Is there a way to prevent players from using the game's console on my server?

wicked knot
dusk cedar
wicked knot
#

"saying" and "doing" are different

#

But ~ accesses the client console, which doesnt really do much.

dusk cedar
#

okay, how to get the performance stats?

#

I want to try it

#

i'm connected to my server, pressing ` but nothing happens

wicked knot
#

some euro keys, and azerty keys, activation key may be different

dusk cedar
#

in the game menu, when I go to manage servers, and click on the Console tab, nothing happens

#

I am looking at the very same wiki page

wicked knot
#

that is also really limited. No console in game allows players to manipulate the playfield. AGS does allow some "cheats"

dusk cedar
#

oh, the tilda key worked. had the wrong keyboard layout selected

#

is there a command which shows server performance

#

in the wiki there is Stat FPS command. When I run this command it show FPS and ms counters. What are those?

#

is ms the network latency from the client to the server?

#

and FPS is graphics FPS or Server FPS?

wicked knot
#

that is all client side CPU/GPU stats

dusk cedar
#

thanks

cobalt herald
#

hey guys, is there a way to stop the lognet spam in the server console? Also is there a way to send in-game chat to the console?

my friend can host a server, just without creatures, is it bad? or can i unlock most of the things and complete the story without creatures?^

drifting hatch
#

You can set creatures to passive in the client settings

Heyho
for 2 days i try to install a dedicated server and i just cant get it running. I'm really hoping for some help here.
I used steamcmd to download and install the server on my 2. windows pc i used for my minecraft server.
when i go into the game i can find the server. He try to connect, start the loading screen and then just sends me back to the main menu after 1 minute.
server says this:

LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false
LogGameMode: Display: Match State Changed from WaitingToStart to InProgress
LogGame: Warning: Set Online State For Player : true - BP_PlayerState_C_2147472758
LogGame: Warning: Could not process player whose OnlineState changed: local user was invalid
LogReliableMessaging: Warning: Handshake with player 'BP_PlayerController_C_2147473666' timed out. Removing component.

I've read a lot and im pretty sure my ports should be open in my router and in my firewall (7777 UDP and TCP, 8888 UPD and TCP)
i also tried to port forward thru playit.gg because i know my provider wont allow port forward over ipv4. i opend ipv6 and still cant connect.

i would be so grateful for any help or sugesstions. Im out of ideas and really want to play with my friends 😄

Thanks 😀

hidden forge
#

stuck in loading screen is a sign that the secondary 8888/tcp port does not work. any kind of remapping done or straight external 8888 to internal 8888?

#

playit.gg is very hard to get working, if not impossible because of how the ports are handled

#

IPv6 works, but only via DNS because of a client-side bug

#

@long flint

long flint
#

okay i have no idea what a dns even is. Im really a rookie when it comes to these things I will look things up and try things out thanks for the tip ;D

hidden forge
#

DNS = Domain Name System = That stuff that resolves domains like "google.com" to an IP

long flint
#

so i think i now got a dns running but now the server just says "server name pending not authenticated"
internet says i should go into the console for the multihome adress order. how do i reach the console?

Can anybody help me? I just migrated my VM from 10 to 11 and now i cant connect to my Server anymore. I can try to connect but the server logs just tell me i timed out while my screen looks like this, completly frozen

halcyon flame
#

Fixed: Used "-QueryPort=" instead of "-ReliablePort="

rough abyss
#

Can I ask a question regarding modding here?

Currently, when I use the mod manager, I make sure both the game I’m running and the server is updated with the mod.

But I have to do a server level rest, closing the docker container and restarting.

Is there an in game method? Like would opening a new save reload a new mod?

brittle sedge
#

could someone help me on the dedicated server i cant join i get connection to host was lost my friends can play just fine i cant i edited the config to not timeout for 300 sec and my network to ultra cant fix it any ideas ping me if so

#

this is my startup ```./Engine/Binaries/Linux/*-Linux-Shipping FactoryGame -Port=5001 -ReliablePort=5002 -DisablePacketRouting -unattended

drifting hatch
#

How are you connecting to it? i.e. host:port

#

Also how come you are invoking it using like a first match wildcard? That seems a bit odd as well

brittle sedge
drifting hatch
#

So when you say everyone else, are we talking people on the LAN, or over the net?

dusk cedar
#

Is anyone here playing with a controller? I can't join the dedicated server with my xbox controller. The button to join the server is missing. I have to switch to keyboard and mouse every time. And then back to controller

drifting hatch
#

Not playing with controller but my understanding from previous conversations is that yes you have to use keyboard and mouse to join

#

(or at least mouse)

toxic igloo
#

@verbal spoke

dusk cedar
#

really hope they make this small change to be able to join the dedicated server with the controller without having to switch to mouse all the time. Or at least if they make the input hybrid like in some other games

#

currently if you enable controller in game settings the keyboard and mouse does not work anymore in the menu. The keyboard only works when typing in some areas where you need to filter the resources in the inventory for example which is cool. But in does not work in game menu.

drifting hatch
#

Never used a controller so I'll have to take your word for it xD

twilit fox
#

How do i reset my server admin password on linux?

hidden forge
#

delete the ServerSettings.PORT file and reclaim the server

twilit fox
#

alright... they hide it good

#

I remembered it was a directory up from the saved games so I ended up just searching for that.

strange saffron
#

i running a satisfactory server via amp and when i try to jjjoin it it says encryption token missing now i not trying to run a server from my satisfacotry itself so server manger is not wat i looking for but i not sure why it giving me this error

hidden forge
strange saffron
#

i tried that but it says i have to load a game to join

#

i not trying to host the game though my satisfacotry i already got that setup i just wanted to join the server

hidden forge
#

everything regarding dedicated servers is done via server manager

#

even just joining

strange saffron
#

this feels more like setting it up becuae it mkaing me choose a world to host now

#

it says you need to cereat lor load a game befor you can join it

#

that hosting it not joing the server so form there after i got it added

#

how do i join the sever not host it

hidden forge
#

you need to claim it (set an admin password)
then create and load a save
then you can join the save

#

everybody else can than just join

strange saffron
#

that hosting it not join the server that has it arleady playing

#

i dont have the world is a sever
