It doesn't resolve, perhaps the first problem
Huh it seemed to have worked tho :c. Do you know how to troubleshoot it ? I'm so not knowledgable in that area.
I'm not super familiar with DDNS but I assume you're using a client to update?
Yes the duckdns client
Is that definitely the name because it doesn't exist as an A or AAAA record
It should be http://shizuessatisfactoryserver.duckdns.org
It doesn't resolve, there are no records, let me query the auth directly one sec
Funilly enough a port checker is able to see that the 7777 port on that address is open :D
Their ns1 and ns2 aren't even chatty xD
i don't even know what that means :D
Could be my blocklists but I've tried querying their primaries by IP rather than name and they are not talking to me xD
So my Router is saying that this dynDNS is active at least.
I'll try it from my Akamai instance, out of this network

Not chatty xD
I've tried most of their listed, none of them are talking to me
Thank you for trying tho
The name doesn't resolve, at least as far as I can try, grab a static is the best solution, or use IPv6. Not sure what is going on at duckdns but their primaries aren't talking
Even if I hit Google DNS, it doesn't resolve A or AAAA

Whatever happening at duckdns... it no work xD
Are you sure that's the name?
DuckDNS can be quite slow
Open a cmd/powershell/shell window, run "nslookup <domain>" to check if it resolves correctly
Already contacted ISP and requested a static ip, so i guess I'm fine for now. Thank you for the input tho.
Yes static is the best solution
Request a static v6 delegation while at it, if you don't already have one xD
IPv6 is the optimal solution
It doesn't resolve @hidden forge at least when I tried

my dedicated server was using 100% of my cpu somehow causing a massive thermal throttle at 99C, after restart it dropped to a stable 10%. before anyone asks i have a i5-9600k 4.3Ghz so i dont think its a CPU bottle neck especially after stabilisation from a restart. is the game know to do this? can i have the server restart every 12 hours instead of 24?
Well firstly 100% should not result in 99C and/or thermal throttling, so at first you need to look at your cooling solution. I haven't seen the game do this no
mate putting a cpu on full load for a long time can defintiley put it near 99C not listening anymore
Then your cooling solution is totally inadequate
You can ignore, you can deny, do whatever you want, but the reality is that your cooling solution is not adequate. Simple as pie
I bet your not even hitting AVX512 silicon, you're just hitting the FPU, if it's hitting 99C, you're in trouble man
who r u talking too lol?
You?
i said i wasn't listening to you?
It's to, not too
Well why don't we try to fix it instead of this not listening thing?
because this server reaching 100% load is not normal as seen by the restart so cooling clearly isn't the issue. fucking hell mate im sure everyones cooling could be better but its not the issue
why dont you replace your thermal opaste every month
i literally built 2 pc's and reach idle temps of like 30c on gaming pc with a dark rock pro 4 i know how to cool a pc
the server pc doesn't use the dark rock pro 4
Okay two things here - 1: there is clearly a thermal issue, regardless of the reason, 100% load should not result in the CPU hitting TjMAX, so that is an issue in itself. 2: - need to figure out why the server is reaching 100% load, is it core-bound, or in general
okay but i have seen highs of like 90C on my 5800x with a dark rock pro 4 at 4.6Ghz so 90's are definitley possible under full load no matter how good your cooling is
the dark rock pro 4 is quite literally near one of the best beefiest coolers on the markest
and it can't stop CPU's from hitting 90's under full load especially when over cllocked
depending on how modern cpu is etc and effecient
That gen does run hot yea, not denying that but 100C is too hot, it doesn't run that hot, something must be up
Like I said, you're not thrashing the worst-case silicon
100c is just the thermal throttle set by AMD nd intel
pretty much every cpu is different
All I'm saying is that something seems wrong if you are hitting TjMAX doing Integer and FPU
It's just not normal. If you are thrashing AVX512 cores on Intel for example, that produces extreme heat, but you don't sound like you're doing that, you're just piping into the FPU(s)
You got a cooling solution problem from what I can tell
the integrated restart only works once per day. but you can use some kind of external sheduler to restart the whole process/container
yeah i know what you mean now. like task scheduler and make a bat script? and set an interval to run restart every 12 hours? i already use a similiar script on task scheduler for duck dns so im sure i can do it
Doesn't detract that you need to deal with your cooling problem first. Hardware first, Software 2nd
and you seem to have a big problem
Hey guys! Hope you are all well. I was hoping to get a bit of help (I have tried searching the discord but can’t find anything so coming here as a last resort) my friend has a ROG Ally using a controller and doesn’t have a M & K so he can’t seem to click on join server - has anyone had this issue or found a war around it? Thanks!
Might be able to get around that by opening up an accessibility panel on your computer, or getting google remote desktop and controlling it with your phone to click on the join server button
Well this whole thing sounds like a mild nightmare. What is the server running to start with
Take it to DM then
Can you elaborate what you mean by what is the server running?
guys i have found the issue after browsing fourms
it seems the 8888 port for the new messaging system caused the 100% load https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/684e9f136b7c57319638b37a. you need to change a few things
probably best to close port 8888 aswell
The reliable port has to be available. You can redefine it to a different port, but it is required
while working with information 4 months old isnt a good idea, its slightly better than working with information 4 yrs old
Hello, Im running a Deticated server with the docker app and i am able to see it on my network. yet when i try to load a save i have a Navmesh bounds are too large. has this happend to anyone else? this is true from a new save and a uploaded save.
I see that this is not a new issue on here but im looking for guidance I cant load any save as i get kicked off
@celest plinth any mods installed?
Hey guys. I have a wired question about the dedicated servers. I got the game and dedicated server from epic, I set it up and I can play on it. But I cant figure out how to invite friends to it. He plays throu steam. Its a local server, when he enters the ip4 and so on, it says its offline. Is there any documentation somewhere i missed?
There is the official wiki here: https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers
Which OS are you running the server on?
Windows. I think I finlly found the error, I need to portforward 8888. Im going to try it when I get home. Im at the office right now. Is there a way to get the game we have been playing, the save file, to the dedicated server, or will we have to redo it all?
Yes as of 1.1 you need to forward 7777/udp 7777/tcp and 8888/tcp
Don't need to redo anything
Just make sure the server is running on standard ports and forward those 3
Ok, but the saved game. With all the progress and unlocks and stuff? So far we have just completed tier 6.
Can I just load that save in to the server?
That is not an issue as far as access is concerned, yes you can load the save onto the server for sure
Thanks alot. Ill try it when I get home. Thanks for the quick answers. Im very new to this game.
In server manager ^
Just remember to portmap exactly as the server is running, so by default at mentioned, 3 ports need to be firewall open (wiki describes how to do this on Windows), 7777/udp 7777/tcp 8888/tcp. Must be open on the firewall and portmapped precisely the same. Clients will connect on the standard port by default, i.e. 7777. The server will tell the clients to chat on 8888/tcp for reliable messaging, so it's essential that the port mappings match up
It's in the wiki under the "Port forwarding and firewall settings" section, but if you want to implicitly run the server then it's switches like this:
-Port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888 -ExternalReliablePort=8888
No none
You said you "get kicked off". When and how does this happen?
When I try to join my dedicated server, it shows up in the list but when I connect it kicks me back to the main menu. The server status shows Idle / Server Name Pending and gives the message “You need to create or load a game before you can join.”
In my logs I see things like:
LogGameState: Match State Changed from EnteringMap to WaitingToStart
LogServer: Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed
I already have a save file (zaxcvbnm_autosave_0.sav), but the server doesn’t seem to recognize it no matter if I put it in Saved/SaveGames/ or Saved/Server/. When I create a new world, the .sav just goes straight into the root of Server/ with no subfolders.
(zax) is a new save as i want to make it run first before i load a save.
Does the save work if you load it locally?
Yes, the save works fine if I load it locally in singleplayer — no issues at all. The problem only happens when I try to use it on the dedicated server, where it kicks me back out and says I need to create or load a game first.
What does the log say?
LogGameState: Match State Changed from EnteringMap to WaitingToStart
LogServer: Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed
LogNavigationDataBuild: Display: RebuildAll building NavData: Name Critter class /Script/FactoryGame.FGCritterNavMesh agent radius 20.0.

LogNavigationDataBuild: Display: UNavigationSystemV1::Build total execution time: 0.02s
same errors over and over
Doesn't really reveal anything
thats the problem
Not enough information to know
Yeah, that’s all I’m really seeing — the navmesh errors repeat over and over and then it just kicks me when I try to join. Is there a way to enable more detailed logging or grab the right log file so I can show you the actual cause?
@celest plinth what address do you use to connect and can you post your docker compose please?
I’m connecting using 192.168.0.203:7777 locally (the server also shows up in the in-game server list).
Here’s my current Docker Compose:
services:
satisfactory:
container_name: satisfactory
image: wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest
ports:
- "7777:7777/udp"
- "15000:15000/udp"
- "15777:15777/udp"
volumes:
- ./config:/config
- ./saves:/saves
environment:
- MAXPLAYERS=16
- PGID=1000
- PUID=1000
- DEBUG=false
restart: unless-stopped```
The .sav file is currently in ./saves/Server/zaxcvbnm_autosave_0.sav, since that’s the only place it actually shows up when I create a new world.
Wrong Ports, get an up to date compose
im using the app that is on truenas
Out of date app then
Don't use an app, whatever you are doing. It's out of date
Don't use apps, it's a terrible idea
Don't use AI LLM either, also a terrible idea
You have a brain. Use it
I don't mean "use it".. I mean Use It. Feed it with nutrients, organic veg, and it will compute for you
Eat Broccoli, near cook it, don't overcook it
Boil it, a bit
It's magic food
ok so can you give me guidance then Shall i create a custom app to use it or steam headless
Nope can't do that, just eat Broccoli, organic xD
Can you edit the compose?
And stop drinking coke, drik pure water
That would be my dream Xeet
Blood from a stone
You think that catting or greping a simple docker-compose is easy. No. The orbit of Mars happens faster
I requested server logs and fairly sure 2 thing have happened. Solar Engineer fell off the roof and Pearl Harbour was a thing
Is there any information on how to fix issues with rubber banding? I'm using an indifferent broccoli dedicated server. Looking for anyone who may have experienced and fixed this.
Details
All players experience rubber banding for 5-10 seconds at the exact same time.
No Mods on the server.
Tried multiple saves.
Indifferent Broccoli migrated us to a different host.
Played with server settings for network quality.
Hmm, trying to figure out what might be causing this
Rubber banding on your LAN?
Like for sure direct connect, not via your router
Is it listening on 7777/udp 7777/tcp 8888/tcp
Is it REALLY listening on them
zatie? as you said previously, use your brain and read what they wrote again
Well yes in some circumstances
Fair play for this... but usually it's port mappings
the brocc is strong with this one
Maybe one of you can help. I've just setup the server on a VPS and I cannot for the love of god get the max players up. I tried doing it with the -ini:Game:[/Script/Engine.GameSession]:MaxPlayers=8 tag and the [/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=12
way both still show the server with 0/4 players. Is that just a visual thing or am I going crazy ?
Oh and I did it succesfully on my own machine before.
-ini:Game:[/Script/Engine.GameSession]:MaxPlayers=12
Is this Linux
Paste the grep of the process
ps aux | grep Factory
Something like that
steam 3280 0.0 0.0 2888 1840 ? S 11:00 0:00 /bin/sh ./FactoryServer.sh
steam 3287 39.5 9.1 9724932 4406124 ? Sl 11:00 29:36 /home/steam/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/Engine/Binaries/Linux/FactoryServer-Linux-Shipping FactoryGame
steam 4696 0.0 0.0 2888 1836 pts/6 S+ 12:14 0:00 /bin/sh ./SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/FactoryServer.sh
steam 4703 114 8.8 8348788 4255292 pts/6 Sl+ 12:14 0:58 /home/steam/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/Engine/Binaries/Linux/FactoryServer-Linux-Shipping FactoryGame
steam 4762 0.0 0.0 7300 2208 pts/5 S+ 12:15 0:00 grep --color=auto Factory
That is when having it supposedly run off of the ini file
And I also can't connect to it anymore :D
Well you're not running it with that switch
nvm connecting works now...
Connecting works, but players?
Yes at least now it seems like I'm able to connect will try with the flag now.
I see problems in your future
:D
xD
Maybe I've been running it somewhere in the background all along cause it did not stop when I closed my tmux instance :o
Maybe that's why changing the ini or running a new one was not working
Everybody runs this stuff on different solutions, it's a nightmare to keep up
Okay now the tag line worked.
Ig I just had an old session running somewhere.
Thank you tho for rubber ducking
Always happy to be a rubber duck xD
can somone help me with the timout error
could i host a server for my friends and i through hamachi?
should be possible yes
hi, did you manage to fix that issue? i want to rollback my server to 1.1.1.2 but i just cannt do it
I think he got it xD
yes since he didn't ask more questions i figured that out myself thank you, im curious HOW he managed to do it
Using his brain, Google, Wiki? xD
AI, The Net, you know, various forms of Intelligence Augmentation xD
believe it or not i've been doing this for 4 hours with no success, u could imagine why i asked for help
Never be afraid to ask for help xD
pls help, I need best provider. My current one suckz
Where on this planet do you live
europe
Like specifically
MASSAGE-2(A-B)b 😛 4net isnt very good. its cheap yes but cant handle alot
Sometimes I love the UK
We have like 150 ISPs in the UK xD
thats why im asking for something verified
i think the most commonly suggested is indifferent broccoli but i have no experience with them
It's not even an exaggeration, we literally have like 150 ISPs in the UK, give or take
i dont wanna test them all
Maybe 120.. or 160. close enough xD
you get 2 days free on IB so id say try that if it doesnt work try something else.
just remember to backup the save before the 2 days run out. or youll loose the save
we already have save to move
yea i got that, but if you go with the 2 days. once the timer runs out and you dont pay it will delete whats on the server
we'll try, thx
I bought the game on steam, pulled the old manifest for the server and refunded the game (I haven’t actually refunded the game yet because the games so good but that was my original plan) anyone can do it if they like. The numbers in that message are the manifest numbers for the satisfactory build 424353 on the 17th July
Just need to have a steam account with a copy of the game to pull the old manifests or else you can’t do it so don’t buy the game on epic ideally
aaah i figured that was the problem, actually smart solution for you. Thank you for the answer!
then take a look at your local job market and write and send some applications
dont forget to dress for success
Welcome to the UK xD
hello, is there a way to allow users from another version to join my dedicated server? For now it says they're on wrong version and have no way of changing that
no, game version must match the server
what platforms and versions?
no idea, i just know that i run dedicated server from steam
and they can't joijn because of version mismatch
its possible to update server, TMI for me to explain and figure out though
downgrade should also be possible if neccessary
nope
😭
if noone is on experimental there shouldnt be any problems anywhere
i got 2 problems
i can login locally but anyone else using public ip gets encryptiontoken missing
the game.ini file isnt like working right because my max players setting doesnt update to the server even after a restart
pls help me!!11!
A Windows 10 or 11 64-bit PC (Linux works too, but Windows is simpler to start).
• At least 8 GB of RAM (the server can eat 2–4 GB+ depending on your world).
• Good CPU (quad-core or better recommended).
• Stable internet if friends will connect externally.
• Enough disk space (10–15 GB is safe).
- Open Steam → Library → Tools
Search for: Satisfactory Dedicated Server - Install it just like a normal game (choose a drive with enough space).
- Once installed, click Play — it’ll ask:
• “Start Server”
• “Start Server with Console”
• “Start Server with No Console”
→ Choose “Start Server” for your first time. - A command window will open
Leave the window open- that is your running server
This is the strictly through steam setup
If you don’t want to use Steam/Epic:
1. Download SteamCMD (Valve’s server tool).
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD
2. Open a command prompt in your SteamCMD folder and run:
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
This downloads the dedicated server files to a subfolder.
3. Run FactoryServer.exe from that folder.
To setup the server
Launch Satisfactory (the actual game) on your PC.
2. Click Server Manager → Add Server.
3. Enter:
• IP: 127.0.0.1 (if hosting on same PC)
• Port: 7777 (default)
4. Connect — it’ll prompt to claim the server (log in with your Epic/Steam account).
5. Create a Session Name and save name, and choose your map (Grass Fields, Dune Desert, etc.).
Once done, you can now play locally or invite friends.
If others are joining from outside your LAN:
1. Forward the following ports on your router to your PC’s local IP:
• UDP 7777 (Game port)
• UDP 8888 (Beacon port)
• UDP 8888 (Query port)
2. Find your local IP:
ipconfig
Look for “IPv4 Address” (e.g., 192.168.1.105).
3. Give your friends your public IP (Google “what’s my IP?”).
They’ll connect using:
This should be it, reply if you still have issues or are confused
There is out of date info in this, ports have changed.
-
the “EncryptionToken missing” connection error
-
Game.ini changes not applying (like MaxPlayers)
1 (fix):
A. Make sure the ports are open and correct
Forward all three UDP ports to your host PC’s local IP:
Port Type Purpose
7777 UDP Game
8888 UDP Beacon
8888 UDP Query
Example: Internal IP: 192.168.1.105
Internal Ports: 7777-7777, 8888-8888, 8888-8888
Protocol: UDP
Then verify they’re open using a site like http s://www.youget signal. com/tools/open-ports/ (while your server is running).
OR
Disable or configure your firewall properly
• Temporarily disable Windows Defender Firewall to test.
• If that fixes it, add inbound rules for FactoryServer.exe (and for those 3 UDP ports).
1. Go to Windows Security → Firewall → Advanced Settings
2. Inbound Rules → New Rule → Port → UDP → Specific local ports: 7777,8888,8888
3. Allow connection → Finish.
4. Do the same for Outbound (optional but safer).
Also,
Make sure your friends connect to the right address
They should connect using your public IP (not 127.0.0.1, not LAN IP).
2 (fix):
C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\FactoryServer\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\Game.ini
this is where your file should be
Your Game.ini should look like this (minimal working example):
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=6
make sure it uses Windows line endings (CRLF) — Notepad++ shows this in the corner.
After saving the file:
1. Stop the dedicated server completely.
2. Wait a few seconds.
3. Start it again (don’t just restart the service).
Then in-game:
• Open the Server Manager → check the player limit.
If it still shows 4, delete all configs in that folder and reconfigure again (the server will recreate clean ones).
Oh ok, sorry I was unaware
Do you know what the current ones are? I’m afraid I haven’t had a chance to catch up
7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP are the defaults
Thank you
Look into the pins and follow the wiki
if you use the ip server localhost are you supposed to use those ports?
I am using the IP "session type"
I have opened every port under the sun that has been suggested here on discord and on the wiki
you only need 7777 TCP & UDP and 8888 TCP
"localhost" should work without any forwarding set in your router
wdym "IP Session type""?
the ingame multiplayer option
if you use the dedicated server to host you need to use the server manager
I might as well use a dedicated server I guess
for opening a game from inside the normal game idk what ports are required
I have a copy on epic and steam, I am letting my gf play on steam and me on epic
just wanna avoid her being forced to make an acct
same network?
then bind the steam account to EGS service and join the epic game
^
I might make a dedicated server
idk
its annoying how locked down epic is
and predatory
iirc you can bind steam to a service account, not necessarily a user account
she didn't really want to so I will figure something else out I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯
maybe ill make a dedicated server
You just need 7777/tcp 7777/udp 8888/tcp
This is a brand new server. Joining and playing on the server works fine. However the logs shows this huge wall of error text everytime it starts up which is worrying me a little
Is this normal?
Hey guys, i have a Windows Server used for Minecraft Servers but i want to run satisfactoy now on it, i have an IP Name so it isnt just random numbers and a specific port already opened, can i use that too instead of using the premade port and ip?
you can use a DNS name instead of the numbers, the ports can be changed, but it does take 1 port to be both TCP and UDP, and one TCP port, defaults are 7777 tcp/udp, and 8888 tcp
yea i have a ddns.net ip address which works well with minecraft, i also have a port tcp/udp which i also used for minecraft
do i need to provide a seperate 8888 tcp for it? and how can i configure the IP And ports?
how do you plan on launching the server, just clicking on it or something else?
I installed the DS on Steam on a Windows VM
Like the literal launcher steam and not steamcmd
so right click on it and edit startup options "-port=xxxx -ReliablePort=xxxx" but port the ports you want in it
port is the tcp/udp port which is what you type in the client to connect, and the reliableport is what the server tells the clients for the secondary port that is tcp
it could be called launch options, I am not infront of a computer with steam installed right now
had an issue in it, should be fixed
could i just use the one port for both Reliable and normal port? Cause i dont have another one open right now
nope
if the port that is currently open allows both tcp and udp, could set it for the port, and be able to configure the server from the server manager in game, but you would be unable to join the world until the second port is open.
okay, but what server manager? I only have a Command Prompt when i launch it throgh steam itself
when you launch the game client
anyone joining the server will have to join through the server manager
Hi all I was hoping I could maybe get an answer to an issue that I am running into. I tried searching the discord and couldn't find it. I am currently running a dedicated server on Windows 11. I am able to login to the server and join it locally. But I'm trying to expose the service using a cloudflare tunnel but am running into issues connecting to it. I'm using it to forward port 7777. I have gotten the below error while messing with things from my server. Any help would be appreciated.
LogSocketsSSL: Warning: Failed to initialize SSL state for Socket HttpRequest
LogHttpListener: Error: Error accepting expected connection [0] SE_NO_ERROR
The server will need 7777 TCP and UDP, as well as (default) 8888 TCP
2025.10.07-02.31.33:785][185]LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false
Can anyone help me with this error? (dedicated linux server)
It happens when trying to join ^
I get no error aside from "lost connection to host" Which the server is on LAN so port forwarding isnt the issue
Yep im going through there, even authed as admin... also wanna mention its a save from a year ago before 1.1 that hasnt been played since
could still potentially be a firewall issue. 1.1 added a TCP port
Are you referring to the tunnel that it will need to forward all those ports or just that those need to be opened in my firewall?
Not up on how cloudfalir works, exactly. The server listens on a UDP port, responds on a TCP port, and passes data on a different TCP port that the server communicates to the clients
that would probably do it. Ill have to add it to my launch args. Do you happen to know the -arg for the port?
Copy that I'll make sure they are all open. I feel like the issue is with the cloudflared tunnel.
Not entirely sure, but I dont think you can get traffic for all 3 on one
i have bot ports being forwarded now on the cloudflare tunnel. I think that I am possibly closer. if I put my server address into a web browser I now get {"errorCode":"errors.com.epicgames.httpserver.route_handler_not_found","errorMessage":""} but in game it seems like it is trying to connect but then just loops back to the main menu.
that is typical of the 8888TCP being blocked. infinite load
I've been digging in some other forums and it looks like the tunnel just plain might not work for hosting a game server I'll keep researching though. Thanks for your help!
I have had an issue with connecting to a dedicated server for a while and i have tried evetything but no matter how many times i google things it doesnt fix it. When i try to connect to the server, it loads for a while and then sends me back to the menu saying "Your connection to the host has been lost." Sometimes it works and I can play but then my friends have the same issue when trying to join. I know it isn't an issue with the server performance because it sometimes works with two people, but someone else always seems to have the issue. I have tried a million combinations of network quality on both the client and server and it still doesn't consistently work. It is difficult to find what is relevant but I think this is the error in the console: UNetConnection::SendCloseReason: [2025.10.07-05.25.26:603][180]LogNet: - Result=ConnectionTimeout, ErrorContext="ConnectionTimeout" and Warning: Handshake with player 'BP_PlayerController_C_2147396073' timed out.
I can provide more info if needed
Did you open port 8888/TCP?
any kind of proxy inbetween?
i dont think so
its an oracle cloud server (free arm-based server) running with FEX
might be an emulation/translation issue then
Not a fan of ufw xD

Has anyone had a person trying to join thier server get a No Are Found Error when trying to join from Epic Launcher?
i have session set to IP join
Are there any dedicated server I can join?
When do i know that my server has started?
do i need to have both ports 7777 and 8888 open? I have one TCP/UDP port which i would like to use and an ddns IP adress which i would also like to use
7777 udp an tcp forward to Ip of sever if you are personal home hosting
you need both/all three, 7777/tcp, 7777/udp and 8888/tcp (by default)
useing a domain instead of a ip is fine
Wait so i cant use my own port?
you can change them, but you need both the base port in udp & tcp and a reliableport tcp
the log should show something like
Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed from now on (if enabled in server settings)
Hey, quick question. A new Satisfactory update dropped, but my server (SteamCMD) isn’t updating. In the in-game server manager, the game version is listed as 442229 and the server version as 433351
Anyone else?
Set your game version back to the stable branch. You are on exp now
I just set that up. The server is actually running on Experimental.
But if there's no other option, we'll run on stable 🙂
I cant debug it, but there may be a flaw in the launch/update script. Paste in what you have, and someone will see the issue, if exist
off the top of my head could be that the flag for installing is not set properly for experimental, or the steam cache that it pulled from might not be updated and need clearing.
do you know where the cache is located?
I did a quick google search for steamcmd download cache, and the AI gave a variety of options.
I have not dealt with it personally, so no idea as mine have updated successfully in the past, I'm still at work so haven't tried moving one of my servers to the experimental branch yet for this update.
Same here 😢 , just deleted some of the cache files to see if it is working
Yeah didn't work, I have it installed as a service so I stop the service then run steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit then start the service again but to no avail
Im back, so i was able to get The truenas server running and i can join when i use tailscale or lan. but i am trying to use playit.gg and i have it connected with server. when i try to connect i see is the server is offline.
same
well, according to steamdb, the experimental branch isn't updated yet
Satisfactory help with outside domain
Are u in the good directory ? make sure it's /SatisfactoryDedicatedServer
ty, posted to experimental as well they probably missed it
Hello, i have an issue with my dedicated server, i am trying to start it (used to work fine).
First it worked just by launching the .exe. Then that stopped working and i used the command .\FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -Port=7779 -multihome=<my-external-ip>. And now even this doesn't work.
Checking the logs i found this:
[2025.10.08-08.21.25:524][ 0]LogOnlineIntegration: Initialized 'NULL' online backend

remove multihome or set it to "::"
one sec
multihome is specify the local interface the server listens to. your external IP is (probably) not a local interface on the host
what address do you use to connect?
tried the command with :: although only the first : get highlighted
external ip and port 7779
have it forwarded
ipv4
if i use ipv6 and port 7779 i see the server
try internal ip (or localhost if it's on the same system as the client)
but i can't connect
yeah well that doesn't really help
only i would be able to enter the game that way
127.0.0.1 works
then UDP forwarding does not work
IPv6 works because it is a direct connection, not going over your router as the target system is inside your local network
LocalAddress LocalPort Process
------------ --------- -------
:: 7779 FactoryServer-Win64-Shipping-Cmd
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>

LocalAddress LocalPort Process
------------ --------- -------
:: 7779 FactoryServer-Win64-Shipping-Cmd
:: 8888 FactoryServer-Win64-Shipping-Cmd```
they need to be the same, both 7779
8888 is fine
then set it to "both"
it is already set to both
thing is it used to work fine with just starting the .exe until power went out one night, then i had to use the command line with external ip and different port and now even that doesn't work
try disabling the firewall and try again
if it still doesnt, have somebody external try, or try a port scanner website
is your internal Ipv4 still the same as in the rules?
after power went out i restarted the router manually and my pc
to clear any errors
ipv4 did change
from 192.168.1.177 to 192.168.1.178 but i also updated the forward rules
this server here is my last resort
i have no clue what to do to it anymore
if the .177 IP is still free, can you manually set your PC back to it and try again?
one sec
yeah it doesn't really like me doing that
tried it but i lose access to internet
it's driving me nuts
also it was the very end of the game, i let the game running overnight to make phase 5 products 🙁
you are missing reliable ports
example -Port=7780 -ReliablePort=8891
it is new requirement
game now usese 2 ports Port is UDP and ReliablePort is tcp
wrong
you probably misconfigured the subnet mask, gateway and/or dns
did you restart the router after updating the forwarding rules?
can you post the firewall rules of the server?
it's either something with the firewall or the port forwarding, if loopback and v6 work the server itself is fine
255.255.255.0
8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1
we can join a call later if you want i can share my screen
Sry, can't for a few hours still
But you can get the current config from dhcp by running "ipconfig /all"
And then copy all except the current IP
ok now i'm here
anybody else got any other ideas?
i tried configuring to 177 but i lose internet access
hey @flint slate im getting somewhat simmular issue im wondering i we can bounce ideas of each other. how are you running your server. also what servise are you using to run your tunnels
is it possible to switch the 8888 port to it used the 7778 port?
i tried changing the port 3 times
to 7778 -> which first time worked
7779 and 8000 after 7778 didn't work anymore
and all 4 don't work
also tried setting up the server on my friend's side and we have the same issue, he has a fresh pc, fresh router and same problem
I'm beggining to believe it's a dedicated server bug not an issue on our side
just loading its calling for to much. it should be fine just takes awhile
^
My friend is getting this issue when trying to connect to my server. I can connect to it because its in my network. I have port forwarding set up (7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP), I have my firewalls set to allow both 7777 (TCP and UDP) and 8888 (TCP). I'm using steamcmd. I even set a firewall exception on my router to allow both ports to my PC. I don't know what else could be set up incorrectly. I have 1pv6 enabled as well. It wasnt turned on before and wasn't working then either. I also set my network to a private network on windows, so my PC should be discoverable
nmap port tester cant reach my server
- Do you use IPv4 or v6 to connect?
- Can you try it with firewall turned off?
- Do you forward to the right internal IP?
- I use my PCs IPv4 address to connect to it. The internal lan address works fine, my friend is using my external/public ipv4 address to connect
- I can in a moment
- Yes
Tried it with my firewall off and my friend still can't connect
and here are the extra rules I made on my router to allow the ports to my PC
can you add the title bar please?
remote port has to be any
clients communicate from some random port TO 7777
and the server response is FROM 7777 TO some random
(same with 8888 ofc)
you probably don't need the outgoing rules, but yeah, try with the current config
Same outcome/error
how do you test? from your own system or some external way?
What port was 8888 again?
the "reliableport", used for bulk game updates
I am moving my dedicated server from 1 to another, where are the charature files stored? i cant see to find anything online.
I have had it before when I moved it, that it creates a new char as you log in, so your old one is then sat in the world.
Has anyoen set dedicated servers through indifferent broccoli and have satisfactory on epic I can’t add mods to my server idk how and the website doesn’t help
From the #rules channel
When I make a change I get my friend to try and connect and he tells me if it works or not
And what error he gets
He still gets the Server name pending - Not Authenticated error
Can he see the ping?
Player state is included in the save
this is what he sees
So nothing works.
Did you ever host another game server? Is your routers wan IP the same as the one shown when you google "what is my IP"?
Yes
and yes
By another game server I mean other games, not satisfactory
but yes its worked before
does this mean its being hosted on the internal 127 address of my PC?
I've never been able to grasp Networking. Which is ironic because I have an IT job
any one on your side of your router can use the local IP (192.168.x.x) address. Anyone on my side of your router uses the public IP
so they need the public IP, and the ports need permission to pass thru the router
Ive set up port forwarding and ive set up the firewall on my PC to allow the ports
If it works locally. logic would suggest the issue is in the router.
i would check the firewall rules on the pc and make sure they allow edge traversal and also apply for the current network profile
They are a lot more up to date on this than I am. Last time I was in a classroom was turn of the century
every time the friend checks, i would suggest making sure they remove the old entry from the server manager and re add it just incase it cached something that is creating the issue as well.
How would I go about doing that?
"::" is the IPv6 version of "0.0.0.0". In this case it means it is listening on all available interfaces/ip-addresses, v6 and v4
thanks ill try this later
to whoever can, i have a few questions and need some help setting up a server. i understand some what of what i'm supposed to do.
look into the pinned wiki
then ask specific questions
Hey guys. Since a few days i rented a dedicated server from 4netplayers. I seem to experience a fair bit of lag though, especially when me and my friend play at the same time. Anyone have experience with this, and maybe know how to fix this? Their support desk was not really helpful.
Where is the the best place to rent a dedicated server?
where is the advanced tab?
I can't find it
ah nvm I see what you mean now
edge traversal is off, ill turn it on
Still isn't accessible to my friend
seems like at this point its back to looking at the router
any idea what could be set up incorrectly? I have port forwarding set up
took another glance through what was written out, are you sure that your router has a routable public IP address? a few ways to check, is to check to make sure the IP on the internet side of your router is the same as if you go to google for instance and ask it what is my ip, or if you go to wikipedia page for Private_Network, there is 4 ranges listed there and make sure that your IP is not in one of those
try adding udp 15700 and udp 15000 also remove tcp 7777 and keep udp 7777 tell me if that helps
the 15000 port allows people to join your server without it your server might appear as offline as you showed in the screenshot
also double check can you join the server and do you see its ping
out of date information, default ports are 7777 tcp/udp and 8888 tcp
my server works fine with ports 15700 and 1500 with 7777 tcp only
im pretty sure 7777 udp and tcp are the outdated ports
7777 udp/tcp is default main port, and 8888 tcp was added in 1.1
server communication starts with udp requests to 7777 then moves over to tcp 7777 to manage, and when you join the game it then also requires 8888 tcp. packet captured last week to see what it did
Okay so I had a closer look. I cant find an IPv6 address on my router nor any options to manage 1pv6 either. And the only ip I found on my router which wasnt a client IP was the WAN IP which does fall within one of the private network ranges
and I also cannot manage that
that would be your issue, the WAN IP, your ISP has you NATed, so you can't host with just port forwarding then
had a look at the provider's FAQ page and if I am understanding this correctly, I have to pay extra per month to have a public 1pv4 address
what does NATed mean?
basicly means hiding a ton of devices behind 1 ip address so they all apear as if coming from the same source
jeez
well that sucks for me then
networks try not to be an absolute headache challenge impossible
looked into it the 2 main ports you need are 8888 and 7777 but 15700 and 1500 are reccomended to have with them
you have a few options, you can use a service to make it public/or vpn tunnel between server/clients, some can be done for free, could pay to get a public ip address, so you got a few options
maybe look if you can get IPv6 working
if who ever is connecting also has ipv6, that would be a good option
weird then that the server never opens/listens on 1500 nor 15700 🤔
outdated ports, only 7777/tcp, 7777/udp and 8888/tcp
the server does show up for him though right?
internally yes
yeah then it 100% has to do with the wifi config
Hello everyone, I hope I can help someone with this. Recently, I was trying to set up a dedicated server on another PC so that my friends and I could play together without causing lag for anyone, and so the computer hosting the server could stay online 24/7. However, I ran into a few challenges. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much information available on YouTube (Brazil) in Portuguese. I opened ports 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP/UDP, but my friends still couldn’t connect — they would join and immediately get a “lost connection” error. After digging through the engine.ini file, I came across a missing line: (ServerVisibility=Public). Once I added this line, as shown in the screenshot below, my friends were finally able to join without any issues.
Forgive me if a solution for this has already been posted but I would appreciate some help in solving this..
I hosted a dedicated server on a separate client than my main PC for my friends and I to play on. It functioned for months without issue. I set up port forwarding (8888/7777 tcp/udp) and configured firewall rules to allow connection. Again, it worked perfectly for months without issue. About 2 weeks ago, the server ran its automatic 24hr reset in the middle of the night and since then, despite the server being up and running, my friends cannot connect. They see the message “server name pending” and cannot connect. I have verified correct port forwarding, correct public IPV4 address for them to connect, and correct firewall rules but nothing works. I am able to connect using my main pc on the same network, but no external networks are able to connect. It sounds like a port forwarding issue but I’ve verified the port forwarding is correct and it also doesn’t make sense for it to suddenly stop working after months of continuous functionality. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you!!
So... Should I be worried about..
"Navmesh bounds are too large!"
hey guys I have been trying to make a dedicated server for me and my brother, i have got it up and running i can join it no issues but he can not join it, i think it has to do with the port forwarding i have absolutely no idea how this work i have tried a few things but no prevail, is there anyone that can help me out or willing to take me step by step to figure this out, i really appreciate the time it has taken to read this>
You and your bro in the same network?
Negative we are not on the same network
Then please send screenshot of what you have already configured
alright so i made a server and port fowarded on my router i believe. also opened up my firewall, but for my friend it still says the server is offline. either i did something wrong or idk someone help lol, pls.
Post forwarding rules
yeah i made a rule for it
hay, what can i do, the server is newer as the client but i have the newest client update in epic store
wonder if epic is bugged had the same issue
🙁
😭
any chance to derank the server to an specific version in steamcmd ?
Looks like your server is on the experimental build, but your client in on the current release
ahh wait i test could be the wrong steamid
just need to flag it for not experimental
where i can flag it? in the settings?
in the installer
at one point you flagged it for -beta experimental on the install, that flag sticks even if you remove it until you flag it for -beta public
thats my starting script, theres no beta flag:
zielverzeichnis_steamcmd="$HOME/steamserver"
zielverzeichnis_ordner_spiel="$HOME/SpieleServer/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer"
cd "$zielverzeichnis_steamcmd"; ./steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir "$zielverzeichnis_ordner_spiel" +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
add the -beta public before the validate and it will roll the server back to the release branch
ahhhh now it works ty. i dont playd satisfactory for a long time and my friend says there arent a Experimental build at the moment thats why i dont though it can be a problem
4 days ago they started a experimental branch again
And exp for the client is a separate install on EGS
not sure why i need to open my custom port and 8888
that was made mandatory with 1.1
you can redefine the 8888 TCP on the launch argunment -reliableport=xxxxx
ty i will test it. is there any documentation about it ? i legit searched 1 hour to find the problem
i mean port 8888 i dont find that i need to open it
Ok so I assume my save will keep slowly spaghettifying itself on my server due to
Creature spawn Error
Navmesh to large Error
NavData invalid warning
Gas Piller warning
Sorry for the way the picture is been taken the server is on a different pc, so i have only allowed access of ports 7777 and 8888 via firewall.
That's the windows firewall.
Did you restrict source ports?
Did you configure anything in your router?
this is what i need help with i have made the IP static, but i know nothing about the configuring in the router settings>
As there are many different router os in the world, please google port forwarding for your router model first
alright will do that thanks for the info, it is really appreciated

What is this error code? It only happends when i am slding
And when i try to slide sometimes im bugging a bit
Anyone know of a mod - or a way to trim the server - that will permenantly remove explored crash sites from the map? On my dedicated server, the scanner keeps showing me crashed sites (it was driving me nuts till I loaded it to an interactive map and saw there was nothing there)
dismantle them
IOW, F'm
They are dismantled - everything around it; nothing there.
Hello, has anyone here switched over to experimental and if yes, are there any new major issues? 👀
hey all i've just hosted a local vanilla server for my wife and myself on a dedicated machine (via AMP) everythings on my local network so no port forwarding necessary,
the console feed is quite busy with these connection accepted logs (the ip addresses match up to our clients/pc's)
i was wondering if that's normal? and if not what the issue is?
Running the lastest non-experimental steam release
Im trying to upload blueprints to my deticated server. im using filebrowser to acsess the files as this is a deticated home server. yet im getting a error when im uploading them. has anyone else had this issue. I stopped the server and tried that with no dice.
where can I advertise my satisfactory server? got 8 slots open
also check the tag for deets hue hue hue
Is there a way to enforce mod version control on the server and if mismatch advise the issue?
Hi All. Can I host my satisfactory on my old android phone. Any way of doing so??
no. theres no arm build, never mind an android package and a phone is way too weak
what is the minimum requirment
basically the game client minus the GPU
Hi, you can post your issue here, people will directly answer if they can help you 🙂
which file did you delete?
Where are you looking for your save files? You dont seem to be looking in the right place
OK. have fun
hello, what will happen if i start dedicated server on very cheap server like 1cpu and 2 gig ram? will it run?
Run? Probably. Run well? probably not
Hello Pioneers. Running the game through Steam on Linux, and want to try running the dedicated server. I installed the server via Steam and it runs fine, I can move a save file for the server to use and I can access it and play. What I can't figure out is how to move that save back to my normal (Steam-game) saves to continue playing there (when away from the dedicated server).
In server manager you should be able to download the save from the server to your local machine
(you will not see it as a new save but the playtime should be updated to match what you have on the server)
Copy from the dedicated server saves directory to the Steam-game saves directory?
no, in satisfactory, go to server manager, select your server, manage saves, download save
(make sure you're logged in as admin)
gotcha - maybe I wasn't admin. The download should be saved into local saves for the Steam-server?
I'll have to dig around in/for those directories this afternoon. Thanks @whole dome
it'll save it into your normal saves directory, so when you go to "load" it will show up there
have a ? if someone with good private server hosting time invest could possiibly help me with i am baffled
so i have had an issuse with my private server not loading correct save when i go to connect to it. Its trying to load a save that isnt anywhere on server or the client because it was deleted weeks ago. Even after deleting the server install on my private server 2 times an reinstalling that same save come up and even after deleting the .sav for the sevrer setting i cant get it to let me reclam server as a new one. Ant ideas or secret places things get put in files i dont know about?
What OS are you running the server on?
how do you run it? just as a user or as a service?
when deleting the server did you just uninstall or did you also delete the data manually? (they are in %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\FactoryGame
i deleted all of it yes
everything i could find plus did same on my cli and reinstalledent PC
and when i add server it shows my first save i ever did when i first started server which was deleted 2 weeks ago so i am baffled by it
are you running client and server on the same pc? I'm wondering if you have cloud saves turned on that will then download when you download the game again. Did you delete the save from inside the game as well?
not on same PC
different machinces
i have deleted all things satisfactory from Server i can find and reinstalled it twice through steamcmd
Hi, so i just installed the docker-composefile from wolfeix and the container is up and running. How can I connect to it locally? I tried the ip adress + port 7777
Did you get any errors on trying to connect to it?
Yeah something about TimeOut. I also cannot connect to it in the server Manager
Oh and Im running the container on OpenMediaVault
for dedicated servers you have to use the in Game server manager to connect, even just to play on it, can set a separate password for just playing instead of managing it.
Yeah but I get the message that It appears to be offline even when OMV says that its online and that the ports are open
on the OpenMediaVault is there another place to open up ports on? default ports are 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP
if you open a web browser to the address of your server plus the port like this do you get anything?:
I just get a „this site cant be reached“ error.
are you able to see the log from the container at all?
is it the latest compose with port 8888 config?
Yeah I just got it from github 2hours ago. Oh and another thing, after a few minutes the server goes down and the „State“ says that it is restarting. If I then stop it, and start it, it runs again.
So it works and then it says restarting (127)
any other logs you can find about it? something doesn't seem happy.
Ok so it seems that it has some file permision problems. It should be able to edit files in the config folder but nowhere else. Is that a problem?
could someone help me on the dedicated server i cant join i get connection to host was lost my friends can play just fine i cant i edited the config to not timeout for 300 sec and my network to ultra cant fix it any ideas ping me if so
Good Morning. Everytime I disconnect from my dedicated server and then log back in my toolbar is never saved. Does this happen for anyone else? Thank you in advance for your time
It's a known issue.. if you hold ALT and then use the mousewheel to select another hotbar and then back, it will update and revert back to normal
???
Where are dedicated server saves stored? Please tell me its not in %appdata%
IIRC it's not stored in a cold location you can just access. You have to upload/download the save ingame from server manager
I think
Did that change in 1.1?
No it's always been like that
welp
I swear there was an actual location in the file structure
if not, then I guess I'm starting over again
Hang on
depends on how you ran it
mine matched the appdata location when ran from steam manually
MIght not be the right area, When I import a Mega Print, and right click on an foundation to paste it, I do not have the option to paste it
Trying to import Hornslet 1.0 Global Rail network
I get the notification that all items are imported and i need to right click and paste, but the option is not there
#1038092680493801533 would have been better or the discord for Satisfactory calc, but there is another button now directly below where you clicked to import it, to now paste it in.
was the server high cpu load bug with open ports to the internet fixed, or do i still need my vpn?
fixed
cool! i cant use geforce now over my vpn... bandwith to low 😄
Hi!
Having some issues, friend cannot join me. He has Steam version. Ports are forwarded.
When he does join, he gets kicked out without any errors, immediately after the character appears:
logs: https://pastebin.com/ZPM2aWSy
Can you show me you forwarding config?
This has been solved, port 8888 was not forwarded
LGSM that I usually use did not have it in the config
yeah, thats what i expected ^^
do people who join dedicated servers need to worry about port forwarding, or is that just for people who host games?
only the host
I'm having the same problem as COMPLEX, which is I'm getting booted right after the loading and it says connection to host was lost
ok
so if you got into the server manager fine, then the problem usually resides in the port that was added in 1.1, that defaults to 8888 TCP
but i put in the server's port
so you have 7777 UDP/TCP and 8888 TCP
From what I have seen:
Connections to ports go in this order:
7777 UDP to request server Name
7777 TCP to get Server Manager access
8888 TCP when joining the game
Ports are continued to be used through playing and not just for the initial reason.
I'm having a big issue, I'm not sure if this is a windows issue or my docker, but. Let me start with my docker compose:
services:
satisfactory-server-1:

+ 2 other ones just like this. cropped it but it's the same logic with different ports
So when I `docker compose up -d` this bad boy, the containers start, but not only do they never appear online in-game, but also all my device's ports crash. Every service, game etc becomes unreachable until I reboot it.
Only thing that remains up are discord bots (websockets) and API that works through cloudflare tunnels. Anything that isn't reached through the port, basically.
Through the firewall I only opened the appropriate ports, only as UDP for the messaging port obviously, and same in my router. Double, tripled checked those.
Weird thing is that it used to work great on my previous machine with the same compose and port setup (so evidently I know how to do it) but not now.
Crashing all my ports entirely 'til reboot is really painful, too
need to check again on this, as the messaging port is TCP
Lemme see
also for server 1 the ports are backwards
nice catch, switching those and checking my firewall rules then
Nope, everything crashing still
any logs to say what it is doing?

But nothing changed. All the ports crashed again
i think it acts differently but just incase, does this happen to be running on proxmox?
Nope
I don't even know what this is, but looks like it's not something I could accidentally do. Just docker, on w11
For the sake of testing - starting a server via steamcmd manually etc works fine
Starting any dedicated server even on 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP makes the entire devices port crash.
Would it be a docker issue? thefuck
If using docker I use wolverix/satisfactory-server, and there is a compose example on the github page
Yeah, that's the one I followed. I tried using the exact same too, default everything, but the same issue occurs
I'm thinking this is a Docker issue more than a Satisfactory issue so I made a reddit post on r/docker about it, I don't wanna bother you here if it's not the place for it
Could be a network issue for that container but generally those 3 ports should be exposed simply on the main host system and mapped to the container
I use Linux tho, not sure about W11
It's a network issue with more than the container since all of the system ports become unreachable until a system restart
It's docker as a whole
Could be something specific to W11 then, but only a guess
Could be, odd thing though is that I had the exact same setup (and compose file) on the same machine two weeks ago, then I had to rebuild all my services/servers from scratch and now this happens for some reason
I don't know enough about W11 to know xD
readding the comments you posted on reddit, you can use launch arguments to change the ports for the satisfactory server even if installed via steamCMD.
-Port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888 -ExternalReliablePort=8888
(i.e. change as required)
Good to know, thanks,nice
I'll do that if I really can't have Docker containers working, since i prefer having it there
Is it something like you need to bridge the physical and docker container virtual network adapters?
No, it's just a personal taste, having my systems on Docker allows me to monitor CPU/Ram usage, on/off it at ease, etc
or could try running the container with --network=host
or driver: host in the compose file
Tried, if I do the ports don't break but the server also doesn't start anymore

Might be because the CLI says
! satisfactory-server-3 Published ports are discarded when using host network mode
which might break the server since it has no idea what port to open its API to
Hmm none of that seems network related
Yup, but I'm thinking that's the last thing happening before starting to handle the network stuff
Curious, will be an explanation for it, just a case of finding out what 😉
Hey everybody, me and a friend are renting a Satisfactory server form 4net players. Laggy as hell... When i contact them they say its normal since the update.... I dont know but is some of you guys renting a server fro msomewhere else that acts normal? Or are there really dedicated server problems since the last major update?
I haven't actually played much on mine recently but it seemed normal after the last fixes, self hosted server.
yeah, if i host a game also myself its very good
How big is the save?
but because its with a friend, and not able to play continuly together we said lets rent a server
bwah, i dunno exactly but it isnt that big you know, it was already laggy even when we aint started building computers and refinery's and stuff you know
but if i go to the support of 4net players, its also a cheap excuse... there is nothing wrong at our end of the server, blablabla
Kinda sounds like they put the server on a slow processor
Are you able to tell pretty fast if it feels laggy?
yeah
when my friend joins, its alsmost instant laggy
also, firing the gun... riding the train...
if u accept or send an invitation, i can stream and show
but its not so extreme at the moment, its like always much more with 2 on the server
i could technically load your save on my test server for a few minutes, since it is a fast processor, but you probably would be around the world from my server so that probably would show lag. just to show that replicating the same scenario but different host
i still go back to that they have you on a slow processor probably
I run mine on a Linux LAN server (pretty powerful system) and I haven't had a single issue in 4 months that I can recall, rock solid, so I personally wouldn't say there is anything fundamentally wrong with the satis dedicated server itself, at least from my experience
yeah, really awful here
transporter belt that keep glitching....
trains, going forward 20meters, back 10 meters, forward 20....
killing animals..... fuck that sucks
really pitty they rent a server from that quality
Heyy im trying to host my server but i cannot connect to it
https://medal.tv/games/satisfactory/clips/llATvvt3Vq-94UBoT?invite=cr-MSxHalgsMjI1MjcwMTU2&v=30
And thats a new word
Hey there, I wanna make the first server for me and my friend. Due to my lack of competence, I bought the game on EG instead of Steam. Can the EG supplied server software handle both EG and Steam players?
Ye my friend have Epic games(game and server) and me as who have it on steam, i was able to connect to it so you should be good
great, thanks. astonishing username btw
Thank you :DDD
Long story behind that name
guessing you missed allowing the other port that defaults to 8888 tcp
default ports are 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP
The thing is before we updated the server it worked everything smoothly and good
when was the last time you were on it?
2months ago? when there was like version 41xxx
june was when 1.1 came out and added the 8888 port
Oh thats maybe why, can that port be changed? 7777 TCP/UDP?
you can change both ports, but one needs to be both tcp and udp and the other needs tcp
-Port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888
Im gonna contact my friend on whos network is it and we will see, meanwhile thank you for the help
if that other port is missing, you get stuck in the loading screen which is what it looked like you got
From what I have seen:
Connections to ports go in this order:
7777 UDP to request server Name
7777 TCP to get Server Manager access
8888 TCP when joining the game
Ports are continued to be used through playing and not just for the initial reason.
Oh i missed that then
is it worth getting a server for me and my friend?
Depends if you want tomolay without the other
idk i will prob get a new pc shorty so i'm thinking of ways of using the old one
Then yes, go host a Server.
And Start your journey down the rabbit hole to self hosting your everything 🙂
nice
also any recommendations on the OS? if possible can it run itself automatically when the pc is turned on?
For satisfactory? Whatever you are most comfortable with
For a general server? - > #off-topic-tech
hi. anyone here running a dedicated server on Synology 723+ ?
Possible with a RAM expansion, but don't expect too much performance wise
@hidden forgedid you try it?
is it better to run the dedicated server with multple CPU or single CPU?
trying to join our dedicated server with some qol mods... do i need a separate client or didi miss a step
You gotta install them on your end.
i've been trying to set up a dedicated server using this old pc and whenever my friends join, they crash, what could be some of the reasons? i'm using ubuntu.
Only thing I can suggest is to check the logs on the clients and server and see if you can determine any clues from that (the UE crash reporter that pops up)
No I didn't try it but I can look at spec sheets and know what DS' are capable of
Also single CPU, the dedicated doenst really scale with more cores (or across NUMa-nodes). Faster cores are better than more cores
I'm running the dedicated server on pterodactyl panel in a VM with 4 CPU. There is an option in ptero panel to let the server use only one CPU. Should I use this option?
It's not entirely single threaded, my server with this large factory is using average 350%, i.e 3.5 cores worth of compute so it can't possibly be a single thread, infact htop lists 16* threads
(16 core CPU)
you run it on ptero?
oh cool, just looked that up. Does it have web interface to manage the server?
Not that I'm aware, but you configure the parameters and then do everything else in-game
It's all in the wiki docs on the github page, Environment Variables part - not all that much you'd want to change once set and running I guess
its fine, i'm just curious. I am running on pterodactyl panel which is a bit more hard to install.
Never tried pterodactyl panel but it looks nice
just rebooted my server was thinking to reconfigure it with single core, but changed my mind
I can't figure out if the performance is effected by the internet or the server when we play in coop with 3 players at about 21:00 things get messy.
It looks good yeah, I basically have to just look at the docker logs to see the equivalent if I need to access the console it can be done too but on the command line rather than embedded like that. There might be a way to combine the two
during the other times there is no issues
I'd say I would recommend keeping the 4 cores. Locking it down to a single core will surely impact performance, especially as your fac gets larger
If things get messy at certain times then it's the internet
Unless for some reason the server is doing more tasks at specific times, etc
but the thing is we never play all 3 of us in other times other than in the evening
nah, its doing only ptery panel with satisfactory
Ah right if that's the only time all 3 of you are playing it could be that too, overloading the server
ii'm also wondering if lagging starts because one player has really bad internet. We are all local, but one players has really shitty computer and internet. Could that be the reason?
I'd be surprised, perhaps, I don't know exactly how the game handles networking
Each client connection I imagine would be threaded, one bad connection shouldn't take it down for everyone else, that would be a bit weird XD
But shrug, not sure, I've only ever played on my own, just on my server
Can you test all 3 of you at a different time?
yeah, probably this weekend
Earlier today I changed some settings on the host in bios .I turned of e-cores so that it will use only p-cores for the VM. Also upped the short duration power limits from 180W to 240W. The physical host has intel CPU Corei-9 13900
Yeah I think there is evidence to suggest disabling the e-cores is beneficial in some gaming workloads etc. That's a very good CPU
Shouldn't be a CPU issue in that case with 3 players
Hard to say 🙂
Maybe it is the friend with the shitty computer 😉
that's just a thought, but shouldn't be the case with dedicated servers
Yeah I would be really surprised
People will be playing with all sorts of hardware
and I came here initially to ask about running the server on Synology DS723+ lol
I am just waiting for the 64GB memory kit to arrive before I try it )
Has that Syno got a decent CPU
better than my current Syno DS918+ but still shit
Yeah googled it, not great for a satis server
i'll try it
The 13900 is pretty good single core, and multicore, ticks both boxes
Fast single core perf is optimal, higher clock speed
yeah yeah, i know, but I still want to run satis server on synology haha
How are you spinning up the VM?
It's like a challenge - like running DOOM on a fridge
vmware workstation on windows 11
Ah right, for some reason I was assuming Linux, but that sounds perfectly good
and the VM with ptero and satisf server is on a separate computer from my gaming coputer
I'll check
7.6G when I am connected
if you look at this page it says Favours higher single-core performance over multiple cores. If you are running Wings via Proxmox, you may need to set the VM's CPU Type to "host" to avoid session save/load crashes.
I was going say set to host
It's saying there - single core performance is more impactful than multi cores, but it definitely uses both
oh yeah
I always set to host on my Proxmox server, maybe try that on vmware
where is this setting?
so you have proxmox on the physical computer? what kind of CPU?
Ah maybe that is referring to proxmox/qemu but a quick google suggests you have to edit the .vmx file for vmware workstation
It's a separate, Ryzen 5700G
Fairly cheap system overall
I don't use it for Satisfactory server
Satis runs on docker on a 12600K
oh 12600k cool
2 different boxes 😉
my gaming PCs are 12900K and 13900KF
I don't really like it cause it runs hot even with the water cooler
All the time or just synthetic benches?
my favorite is 13900 currently without the K which runs the coolest also with the water cooler
I'm running satis now with this large fac and it's sitting at 62C
It easily hits 100C if I do a Prime95 or OCCT with AVX
But that's just synthetic benchmarking
well, that's the same on my 12900K. That's why that K is there
Yeah, unlocked multiplier
no, not all the time, during games it runs at 60-70
That's not bad for these generations, pretty fine tbh
so, I have 3 PCs all with liquid CPU coolers - 12900K gaming, 13900KF gaming, 13900 just general workstation without the video card and now with VMware workstation and Satisfactory server.
3 pretty darn good rigs
when I run OCCT CPU/Memory tests all run hot except for 13900
13900 will be lower clocks yeah
I personally don't worry too much about the heat in these benchmarks because it's basically impossible to cool this generation of Intel in synthetic benchmarks, but real world workloads it's almost always fine unless video transcoding, that really bumps up the heat
but the OCCT CPU benchmark results are the same on 13900KF and 13900. Except 13900KF runs about 10-15 C hotter
the numbers are the same in the results between the two CPUs lol
Sounds like the KF is hitting something, PL or temp or something and the resultant core clocks are effectively the same for both
same kingston memory 6400
Is that the multicore bench
I guess the KF isn't really that much faster than the non K variant looking online
5-10% faster, ish
I imagined it was faster but seems not xD
its not faster, its just hotter in my experience it what I can see
Maybe it should be the 13900RHE - Really Hot Edition xD
hehe yeah lol
Well for your server the 13900 should be killing it but I lack experience with more than 2 players, I think I did have 3 one time
the thing is in my home office/room in the winter I turn off the heat and turn on the AC when i'm gaming because the room gets so hot from the computers
Yeah 3 of those beasts is quite a bit, plus the GPUs
The 13900 workstaiton and 12900K is in my home office room. The 13900KF is in a different room.
Gotcha
Have you tried running the satis server just on the bare metal?
i.e. not in a VM
no, and and don't think I will try it. I will try it on a VM in Synology 723+ and can't wait to try it.
Last year on bare metal on this 13900 I was running Rust server also on ptero panel. It was good but I didn't like the fact that its on bare metal
Yeah that's why I dockerize mine. It would only be for a test I guess but I wouldn't keep it that way I agree
Ubuntu
Oh the proxmox is entirely another thing
This is just docker running on linux
so ubuntu on bare metal, then docker with satisfactory server?
Yea
I had something similar last year with Rust server except I was running RHEL server on bare metal without GUI
Ah nice. It's Ubuntu server, I do everything over SSH
It's a headless system in a box downstairs, no GUI installed
cool cool
if you are good with linux CLI then why pick ubuntu?
I really like Alma Linux. I rent a VM on Amazon with Alma Linux
I run Arch on another little system, Ubuntu / apt, it's just proven to me to be a very reliable package management system, pacman is good too, no real reason, it's just Linux at the end of the day in a certain flavour
Alma is nice yeah
It's used quite a lot in docker images/containers (at least ones I have tried xD)
I messed around with Ubuntu / Debian years ago with apt, but I really like Red Hat yum package manager a lot better.
Ubuntu for a server is just convenient with a good package manager and a very wide range of packages available, but totally not the only option
If you like yum you might like........ Amazon Linux xD
or maybe Fedora xD
Amazon Linux is based on red hat, and I did try it
Fedora is not a good choice for a server, only for the Desktop its good
Yea true true
Then again no reason why it can't be a server, all these distros are capable
do you have Amazon AWS account?
I do but I don't have anything spun up at the moment, I have a Akamai nano node to run my email
Did you try Amazon Lightsail? Its a simplified version of AWS Cloud.
Only EC2
yeah EC2 is very complex, use the same credentials to login to AWS EC2 and click on Lightsail
it is simplified and has a lot better user interface
get yourself a free VM there
I'll check it out, thanks
With EC2 I was just using SSH certificates
Can't remember what I was running there, might have been Amazon Linux
Yea
in my opinion Alma is the best now for home server, which is what I have in VMware workstation
I'm going to spin up Alma on the proxmox when I get a moment and check it out
if you get to it, install alama minimial ISO and mess around with it
Will do
Alma is red hat based, so also yum
and don't install Alma Linux 10 yet. Install 9 or 8 which have a lot more things supported like pterodactyl for example lol
Good tip xD
Is there a way to prevent players from using the game's console on my server?
Server console, should have an admin PW. Client console, just does some graphic tweaks, perf stats, etc
player just said he could access the console on my serverby pressing tilda and delete things quickly
"saying" and "doing" are different
But ~ accesses the client console, which doesnt really do much.
okay, how to get the performance stats?
I want to try it
i'm connected to my server, pressing ` but nothing happens
in the game menu, when I go to manage servers, and click on the Console tab, nothing happens
I am looking at the very same wiki page
that is also really limited. No console in game allows players to manipulate the playfield. AGS does allow some "cheats"
oh, the tilda key worked. had the wrong keyboard layout selected
is there a command which shows server performance
in the wiki there is Stat FPS command. When I run this command it show FPS and ms counters. What are those?
is ms the network latency from the client to the server?
and FPS is graphics FPS or Server FPS?
that is all client side CPU/GPU stats
server console is really limited. AFAIK, this is all that is can possibly do:
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Console_commands
thanks
hey guys, is there a way to stop the lognet spam in the server console? Also is there a way to send in-game chat to the console?
you can put stuff into the Engine ini file that will reduce the spam in the console. i'm not sure of the correct line though that will only reduce the lognet spam.
my friend can host a server, just without creatures, is it bad? or can i unlock most of the things and complete the story without creatures?^
You can set creatures to passive in the client settings
Heyho
for 2 days i try to install a dedicated server and i just cant get it running. I'm really hoping for some help here.
I used steamcmd to download and install the server on my 2. windows pc i used for my minecraft server.
when i go into the game i can find the server. He try to connect, start the loading screen and then just sends me back to the main menu after 1 minute.
server says this:
LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false
LogGameMode: Display: Match State Changed from WaitingToStart to InProgress
LogGame: Warning: Set Online State For Player : true - BP_PlayerState_C_2147472758
LogGame: Warning: Could not process player whose OnlineState changed: local user was invalid
LogReliableMessaging: Warning: Handshake with player 'BP_PlayerController_C_2147473666' timed out. Removing component.
I've read a lot and im pretty sure my ports should be open in my router and in my firewall (7777 UDP and TCP, 8888 UPD and TCP)
i also tried to port forward thru playit.gg because i know my provider wont allow port forward over ipv4. i opend ipv6 and still cant connect.
i would be so grateful for any help or sugesstions. Im out of ideas and really want to play with my friends 😄
Thanks 😀
stuck in loading screen is a sign that the secondary 8888/tcp port does not work. any kind of remapping done or straight external 8888 to internal 8888?
playit.gg is very hard to get working, if not impossible because of how the ports are handled
IPv6 works, but only via DNS because of a client-side bug
@long flint
okay i have no idea what a dns even is. Im really a rookie when it comes to these things I will look things up and try things out thanks for the tip ;D
DNS = Domain Name System = That stuff that resolves domains like "google.com" to an IP
so i think i now got a dns running but now the server just says "server name pending not authenticated"
internet says i should go into the console for the multihome adress order. how do i reach the console?
locking fps to 60 helped friend who had issue with it.

Can anybody help me? I just migrated my VM from 10 to 11 and now i cant connect to my Server anymore. I can try to connect but the server logs just tell me i timed out while my screen looks like this, completly frozen
Fixed: Used "-QueryPort=" instead of "-ReliablePort="
Can I ask a question regarding modding here?
Currently, when I use the mod manager, I make sure both the game I’m running and the server is updated with the mod.
But I have to do a server level rest, closing the docker container and restarting.
Is there an in game method? Like would opening a new save reload a new mod?
could someone help me on the dedicated server i cant join i get connection to host was lost my friends can play just fine i cant i edited the config to not timeout for 300 sec and my network to ultra cant fix it any ideas ping me if so
this is my startup ```./Engine/Binaries/Linux/*-Linux-Shipping FactoryGame -Port=5001 -ReliablePort=5002 -DisablePacketRouting -unattended
Any reason why you are running it on non-standard ports?
How are you connecting to it? i.e. host:port
Also how come you are invoking it using like a first match wildcard? That seems a bit odd as well
I am using pterodactyl panel everyone else can join I just can’t join any servers I have tryed deleting all files reinstalling firewall
So when you say everyone else, are we talking people on the LAN, or over the net?
Is anyone here playing with a controller? I can't join the dedicated server with my xbox controller. The button to join the server is missing. I have to switch to keyboard and mouse every time. And then back to controller
Not playing with controller but my understanding from previous conversations is that yes you have to use keyboard and mouse to join
(or at least mouse)
@verbal spoke
really hope they make this small change to be able to join the dedicated server with the controller without having to switch to mouse all the time. Or at least if they make the input hybrid like in some other games
currently if you enable controller in game settings the keyboard and mouse does not work anymore in the menu. The keyboard only works when typing in some areas where you need to filter the resources in the inventory for example which is cool. But in does not work in game menu.
Never used a controller so I'll have to take your word for it xD
How do i reset my server admin password on linux?
delete the ServerSettings.PORT file and reclaim the server
alright... they hide it good
I remembered it was a directory up from the saved games so I ended up just searching for that.
i running a satisfactory server via amp and when i try to jjjoin it it says encryption token missing now i not trying to run a server from my satisfacotry itself so server manger is not wat i looking for but i not sure why it giving me this error
You need to join from server manager
i tried that but it says i have to load a game to join
i not trying to host the game though my satisfacotry i already got that setup i just wanted to join the server
everything regarding dedicated servers is done via server manager
even just joining
this feels more like setting it up becuae it mkaing me choose a world to host now
it says you need to cereat lor load a game befor you can join it
that hosting it not joing the server so form there after i got it added
how do i join the sever not host it
