#dedicated-servers

I'm a bad person for pinging
Is this supposedly fixed in 433351 ?
Poor tcp, why kill xD
I think satisfactory dedicated server could do a lot of better things than that XD
I can survive TCP sessions thru disconnects as long as I am VPN'd into my network. There aren't any keepalives in TCP
Source and destination
And they are
the
same xD
From both aspects xD
Destination doesn't change if you are VPN'ing into a private network
Source is usually held in the table
How do you think you can jump networks, I can walk out of here, drop the UniFi WiFi, drop to the cell network, I don't lose connectivity xD
Maybe in that case yea xD
I'd reboot pfSense but that would be a horrorshow xD
Oh I have a static v4 and a static /56 delegation, I just don't want the downtime xD
No CIDR calculator app on your Android device? xD
or Chrome on the better version --> desktop PC
Uh oh XD
You can use a wrong CIDR - mask - and it will work in some circumstances
Just a terrible idea
As i said, llms just chain words together. They don't know why these word should be chained together
Nothing here should be getting blocked by windows firewall. And according to documentation debian's network settings default to let all traffic through
Hey all, so one of my friends can join my g portal server and another cant. the one who cant automacially disconnects when they enter and they dont even see the landscape. Itsays (timed out) when hes back in the menu. It does say he joined the server, but he doesnt stay or load in himself. We have tried disabling his firewall with no luck. JW if there is anything else that can be done. We can play coop with no issues.
Don't write it in public
Oh, yes XD
I have a bad memory xD
Send the latest address xD
In our DM 😄
We can do chat here so people can learn
so, i m wondering what causing him to timeout. He can run the game normally in coop and single player. So i dont think it times him out due to long load times
So the background is - one friend can connect, one friend can't
it seems like anyone else but him can connect lol
It's a bit run of the mill but can the friend who can't connect try in PowerShell
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName 10.0.100.5 -Port 8888
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName 10.0.100.5 -Port 7777
i dont know what is
Start key, type command, right click on Command Prompt, Run as Administrator
Your server is online
Are you in the mid americas?
or east
So this friend
This is the focus on the issue xD
I can connect, so I don't think there is anything wrong at your end
yaaaaah
Can friend try those powershell things xD
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName <your_server_ip> -Port 7777
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName <your_server_ip> -Port 8888
PowerShell
illl have him try later, thank you
Sure thing
Local firewall shouldn't matter as long as outgoing connections are allowed (which is the default)
Is he trying to "join game" via IP or adding the server in server manager?
Hello, with some friends we have an issue right now, we started playing on a dedicated server a friend has setup (linux). Everything worked fine untill today or some days because of a new version of the game, even when he tried to update the server the version stay the same for the server.
Has anyone got the same issue ? is there a way to correct this issue ?
how did he updated the server ?
did he select the correct directory for the server to update ?
When in doubt, extract the save, nuke everything, and start with a fresh install
He has just tough about this kind of issue, he is still looking but we think it's the issue, sorry to have bothered you 😅
And decided to nuke the serv... xD
If he hasn’t nuked it yet - I’ve seen this be fixed by restarting the server itself (maybe the entire home server he has)
check 7777, 8888, 15000, 15777
also udp/tcp
(if not 1.0)
8888 (New Requirement - TCP):
As of version 1.1, this port is required for TCP connections to prevent players from getting stuck in infinite loading screens.
UDP 15777 (Query Port): This port is no longer needed with Update 1.0 and should be closed.
UDP 15000 (Beacon Port): Like the query port, this is also unnecessary for the default setup and should be closed.
He tried several times, but it didn't work. He told me he followed a tutorial that may have placed the files in the wrong location... but he's going to nuke it, which we think is simpler.
he is running it as a docker or a dedi?
how do i find my address ?
Google maps maybe? Unsure how to help with this one…
for the address IP?
No I was being sarcastic I’m sorry :(
Internal or external IP?
ok i was tripping for a sec lmao
Haha sorry was being dumb
im not sure tbh ive created the TCP and UDP things on firewall and put port at 7777. now im in game but unsure where to find the address to launch the server
Go to www.whatsmyip.com that should show you what’s needed!
didnt work. why is it so hard just to setup a server lol
im guessing a server still runs when im offline right? so my friends can still log on and play while im at work
The server has to "launch" as an application on whatever machine it will live on. You can connect to it with an IP address, if it is already running
the cmd thing is running. im just unsure where to find the address.
Where did you tell it to install the server to?
what do you mean? sorry this is all new to me
If you are installing it on YOUR PC, your PC, AND the server application, has to be running for anyone to access it
The server is basically a copy of the game, with no player. Other players can connect to it, and experience that unique world
its installed to my pc yes
If you want something that others can reach any time, whether you have your computer on or not, then you need a hosting service
man this is confusing haha
OK, so you installed it on your PC. WHERE, on your PC?
in C:
what, exactly, di you type into the steamCMD for "force install dir ...... "
what guide did you follow
yes i typed that and login anonymous
i followed gamisfy on youtube
the guide is outdated and some info is incorrect
!wikisearch Dedicated_server
This page provides basic instructions on setting up and operating a Satisfactory dedicated server.
Dedicated server binaries are available for 64bit Windows and Linux systems. It can be installed using the Steam client (where it is listed in the user's library as a "tool"), its command line sibling SteamCMD...
damn ok
@dusk cipher if the server runs on the same system as the game just use "127.0.0.1"
If it's a different system, either look into task manager, settings or use a command line, depending on your OS
Friends from outside your network need to use your WAN-IP, your routers external IP. This requires setting up port forwarding
ok i used 127.0.0.1 and it worked
if it runs, congrats
now you need to go into your router for port forwarding
great... ill do some research lol
thanks guys, getting there
most guides are probably out of date
all you need are ports 7777/tcp, 7777/udp and 8888/tcp (by default)
forward these to the system you are running the server on
yes, 15000 and 15777 are no longer used
here's a summary
Would need to see the server logs
We’re experiencing consistent stutters during autosaves: the game freezes for a moment and then all connected players are rubberbanded to their position from ~2–3 seconds earlier. Is this expected behavior? The server has been up for about 980 hours of runtime. Auto-stop is disabled, and autosaves are configured every 5 minutes.
Here are the logs from the last 12 minutes. I think it’s about the section “Write Backup to Disk and Cleanup time: 0.070 seconds”
It’s a Satisfactory Dedicated Server running on Ubuntu 24.04 minimal inside Docker Compose. The container is wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest, no autostop, autosave every 5 minutes.
or what do you mean?
That's good, I run the same, CPU and main memory?
8 cores (xeon silver 4215R @3,2 GHz
32 GB Ram
100GB vhdx on a nvme
Well.. on face value it shouldn't be an issue xD
Depends how many 8 cores, 32 GiB of RAM and 100GB of that secondary storage is being used xD
can you like htop or glance that save event?
or iotop it maybe
I’ll let a monitoring run for a while.
might just be server resources
Thing about these servers is a lot of people are sharing the hypervisor
How much are you paying?
Here’s a quick snapshot from glances in advance, in case it helps.
0 atm
Hmm
Monitoring without any players on the server probably won’t be very meaningful, I guess.
Can you sudo glances and e on the container?
like this?
Yep xD Just looking
yea sorry i'm not a linux expert ^^
It doesn't look resource constrained, it looks really nice actually
That's cool xD
Where does the server save to? like secondary storage
It's the only thing I can think of
Hi i got a question, i just updated my server via steamcmd, but when i try to join i get a version mismatch
how can i fix it? When i try to update i get that "1690800" is already up to date
I just followed the instructions. Even during the Linux installation I didn’t create any additional partitions or anything like that
Hello!
Does
steamcmd.exe +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate
Work?
It could be slow to write but yea would need to check where it is writing to
Sure thing
There’s a good guide in the Satisfactory Wiki on how to set up auto-updates. Unfortunately, I can’t post links here, but just google Satisfactory Dedicated Server auto update and you’ll find it. With that in place, you won’t run into these issues anymore. Just restart the Windows service once and everything works again.
if you are using windows ^^
nahh linux, but still thanks for trying to help :D
This sounds good xD
Nope still didnt work, but i noticed some mods are still active from the last time i used it. Does this matter? And if so how can i remove them
My guess is mods
wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest auto updates if you restart the container
I think you were running that
Maybe my brain fails me. This is a usual problem
What you need to keep in mind: the save games will no longer be under %localappdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames, but instead in %WINDIR%\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames. Drove me crazy when I was trying to find my saves ^^
yes. but not the windows dedicated server
Yeahhh but i still need to figure out how to connect to it via winscp
forgot the last 2 digits of the ip
yea i love chatgpt for things like that 😄
if you know the name of the system try a quick dns lookup
open cmd or powershell and run "nslookup <System-Name>"
That's just name isn't it? xD
fair enough, just connect to the name directly then 😅
Yea you need to update the server
You're running wolveix or was that someone else xD
steamcmd
force_install_dir ~/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer
login anonymous
app_update 1690800 validate
idk, i use proxmox and ubuntu
i dont have much knowledge about both
yeah i already tried that 3 times
Hmm, people have problems with this
Backup your saves
Uninistall it
Clean install
how can i uninstall it? (Sorry for the many stupd questions lol)
Idc bout the saves, we started fresh so yea
Remind me which operating system you are xD
how did you install it
like
sudo apt ?
dpkg --get-selections | grep steam
i get this
You're grepping the grep? xD
im gonna go to sleep, have a lecture early in the morning. Thx for the help
bro idk shit bout linux XD
maybe i need some knowledge first hahaa
but still thx for the help
Okie, come back tomorrow and we can work on this xD
Fixing problems is my mission xD
Figured it out! The tutorial I followed when I first set up Debian had me misconfigure the network interface which led to me having multiple entries for the same adapter. Removing the unnecessary one fixed my issue and the server is now responding
I get this screen, I just reset my pc and am trying to connect to my home servers server which worked fine. the second i try to hit authenticate all i get is a connection to the server has been lost.
running wolveix/satisfactory-server in docker on ubuntu
The server needs to restart its connection, its a server side issue
Just restart the world server side
Btw can i join it pls
I want to restart playing satisfactory but i dont have the motivation if im playing alone
Im not explaining this well
somteimes client side can also cause issue (the game), restarting the game can help.
Yay! So happy you found a solution xD
thanks for the suggestions, i had to join it on my wan first before i could access it with public ip
and sorry this one is between me and my other friend we had our world for months before
has anyone got a fix for epics' "Missing string table entry"? I have a clone of myself in my server and he has my inventory:(
Anyone have any issues after the last 2 updates of dedicated servers not working?
Mine just stopped working, getting a TLS error....
After stopping, updating and starting the server got a warning about unverified certificate, but it's working again.
make sure you dont have "keep inventory on death" set, and beat it repeatedly about the neck and shoulders, until it gives up the loot
Hello everyone, since a few hours friends can't join my self-hosted dedicated windows server which runs on a separate machine :
- no parameters have changed
- ports 7777 & 8888 are still forwarded (on both TCP & UDP)
- I can join via local IP but not from WAN (can't even see it, appears offline)
- I restarted the router, server and client
- I tried removing IPv6 on the hosting computer
- I updated the server
but nothing seem to work, do you have any advice ?
Could it be related to the latest 1 year aniversary update ?
also tried -multihome launch parameter, hell, I even forwarded all traffic from my router to the local hosting machine
if TCP or anything network related is not working, I can't figure out what it is
have you verified that your public IP didnt change?
I did, and unfortunately it is still the same
anyway I re-added the server in server manager
but It can't find it
so even with local IP of the server, you cant find it now?
Yes I can, as i said :
I can join via local IP but not from WAN (can't even see it, appears offline)
not all routers will loopback the WAN ip if already inside of the network
it used to work fine 8 hours ago
before the latest aniversary update
nothing has changed except that
(took a moment to have someone remotely connect to my server, as i hadn't since last update), 2 things i would check would be the router port forwards(probably not it if it used to work), then i would also check the windows firewall rules to make sure allow edge traversal is on and the rules are applied for the current network profile. if that all fails, maybe worth grabbing wireshark and seeing if the packets get to the server so you can tell if its a server config or a router config
Thx for your suggestions, I'll try that after work
Man, that username, it's beautiful
https://github.com/kazuninishiki/satisfactory-admin wrote an app that does server admin via API, feel free to use/comment if interested (terminal based, i also have a gui based, still refining)
DM me the public IP if you like, I'll try
You only need TCP open on the 8888
Hi! I‘ve rented 2 servers in the past and both times I got frustrated by either their downtime or performance issues. I used trusted providers (or so I thought) with a big plan. My safe just eventually got to big.
Now I‘d love to give it a try again. Do you guys have reccommendations on good providers?
I am about to rent a server. But I don‘t know witz what provider to go
Switzerland
Oh, wonderful country, I'll search
?
Oh it got removed
hostkey .com / dedicated-servers/switzerland/
Break the bot xD
Do you know this provider?
Nope just Google it xD
oh alright
I did that the last 2 times and then got so frustrated that I just cancelled the plans without even saving my saves
I don't know what it's like, I only run my own
Well thanks anyways!
Good luck out there 🙂
Just out of interest
Run it locally?
Do you need a dedicated server?
I think it's more fun when the game time continues running even when you're not here "working", no?
I don't have the time and/or courage to learn how to do it and to troubleshoot it.
Additionally I don't have any hardware that I could run 24/7
If I can do it, you can do it
I think I could do it. But if I can I would rather pay a small monthly fee and safe myself hours of headache
You do need hardware that can run 24/7 that is true
Yea, I've never used providers. Surely someone here can advise xD
Thanks for the help though!
Good luck (and Switz is an amazing country)
Just for people that might have just clicked into the chat;
Does anybody know a good server provider?
I've used shockbyte before with their biggest plan and it was terrible.
Which glorious nation xD
@drifting hatch @mild thunder everything is back to normal now without having changed anything, it just fixed itself during the day while I was at work; it still drives me nuts to ignore the cause, maybe faulty router that was messing up port forwarding despite having restarted it or Epic Games Store APIs, anyway, thank you very much for your efforts and I wish you both an excellent day !
Merci fréro, il est simple et efficace
oh que oui, masterclass
hey guys! I have setup a server on a win 10 machine.
i can connect to it lokaly but my DDNS wont let annybody in. connection timed out. opend ports 7777 and 8888 both in windows firewall and in the router
7777 UDP and TCP and 8888 TCP?
in router i hopend both
Fancy DM'ing me your IP and I'll check?
is -multihome=:: worth a try and how do you do it with steamcmd xD
I am a docker peasant xD
hahah @drifting hatch does docker work on windows? 😉
Yea I think so, there are Windows binaries
that seamed a little bit too advanced for me 😉
I'm just not familiar with steamcmd xD
It could be UDP, it's hard to test
Your 7777 and 8888 TCP looks open
@drifting hatch We cant even join me at regular joinming
I've been trying to figure this out
if you can see the server ping, udp works, if not not
Yea UDP is my suspicion
Problem is that it's hard to test
I'll wireshark this when I can generate enough calories xD
Write a script
If you can use Wireshark on the server computer, I can give a filter to use to see if the packets are reaching it
i can download it 😄
im running an old version, so ill update to make sure the filter still works in the new
when i use webbrowser port checker it says its closed. wierd
here is the quick version of the filter: tcp.dstport == 7777 || udp.dstport == 7777 || tcp.dstport == 8888 || tcp.srcport == 7777 || udp.srcport == 7777 || tcp.srcport == 8888
that didnt work as expected since those characters are used for stuff here
there we go
from what i have seen, connection starts on UDP on 7777, one packet in each direction, and then switches to TCP to get the server manager pages
@mild thunder and @drifting hatch i found the fault!
yay
Do tell
Asus rt-ax88U router was not happy to open port 7777 out to the public changet it to 5055 and it worked to add it in my on game with the outside host name!
Wow! okay xD
Yes feels realy nice if it only was that XD 😄
I'm looking to move a locally hosted muliplayer game to a dedicated server using LGSM. The problem I'm having is I can't find the save files for the game. I'm on linux (specifically Bazzite) and have looked in ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/526870/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames except there is no 526870 directory, only 2180100 & 0.
Also tried /home/<steam_user_name>/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SavedGames/ but there is no FactoryGame directory.
Mine are located in here (Arch Linux) .local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/526870/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/XXXXXXXXXXX
if the old server is still running, just use the server manager to download and then upload the save
It's not a server though, just a locally hosted multiplayer game. You know, where the host has to be playing in order for others to join him.
ah, then just upload it
upload what though??
the save? useing the server manager?
like I said in my original post...I dont have a directory named 526870
server manager allows you to upload local saves, right in the game
its not a server...there is nothing under server manager
if you can connect to the server from that computer, you can go to manage saves, and upload to the new server through the ingame server manager
you want to play on a dedicated server, right? then add it in the server manager, and then upload the local save in the save manager tab
see I was trying to move the files from my computer to my server (once I find them).
Lemme get connected to the server an see if I can move them your way
we noticed something weird on our server; creatures are passive for me, but will attack my playmates? is that a known bug or a feature or smth?
check your game settings. hostility is by player iirc
thats a wild concept if true lol
ill check
oh yeah
bit of a weird decision but ok
@whole meadow
I can add one more report that the desyncs seem to be fixed.
I played for a bit with ports forwarded to the internet and no vpn tunnel for a while (about an hour) today with plenty of foundations being built. No desync. 🙂
This is the first time since 1.1 was released that this has worked without the vpn tunnel in place.
@warm pollen Thank you for helping them fix this.
heya, i'm having some issues with my dedicated server.
in the server manager, i'm getting the following behaviour:
Local ip works, can be loaded and played fine.
public ip shows failed to connect to server API
on the server i'm getting the following logs that stand out:
TLS alert, unknown CA
ssl certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
failed to initialize SSL state for socket HTTPrequest
error accepting expected connection [0] SE_NO_ERROR
i am running the server on windows 10, previously i was on server 2025 but that had some issues.
did you set up port forwarding so the server is reachable from the outside?
yup
also set proper firewall rules to allow the traffic to pass
everything changed to the new host? firewall on host allows for traffic?
can smm handle putty keys...?
I successfully installed a satisfactory dedicated server on linux using SteamCMD, to find out that my epic client cannot connect to it. is there a place to find an epic dedicated server that runs on linux? The Wiki only has the windows one.
What branch is your server on
normal, not experimental
If I try to connect to my steamcmd linux server I get LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false. AI says its because im on an epic client that cant authenticate with steam
Did you try joining via the in game server manager, and are you 100% sure you're on the same branch as the server?
It would show a version mismatch?
I checked my client version against 5.3.2-433351+++FactoryGame+rel-main-1.1.0 and I am told they should work. I am able to see the server, load saves and authenticate with it. I just bomb out when i try to join
client v Version
433351.299
And the server?
5.3.2-433351+++FactoryGame+rel-main-1.1.0, is this the version?
Yes, server is433351
So I my take away is that the epic client should work with the steam dedicated server then?
If so, ill go back to the drawing board
Is this server on the LAN?
Yes, I am trying to connect using a local 192 address
I am able to add the server by local IP address and am able to join using the password
I get the correct status
I just crash when i try to join
not game crash, it just freezes and kicks me back to main menu
It is a sav that i pulled over from a previous windows dedicated server. not sure if that matters
And Join Game? xD
Yes, Join Game is where it freezes while loading
Freezes.. hmm
Is the bar moving or literally frozen
Starts moving, then freezes in that spot for about 10-15 seconds, then back to main menu
Is UDP 7777 open?
UDP and TCP
Show evidence xD
7777/udp ALLOW Anywhere
15000/udp ALLOW Anywhere
15777/udp ALLOW Anywhere
22 ALLOW 192.168.4.0/24
32400/tcp ALLOW Anywhere
7777/tcp ALLOW Anywhere
What is that, Windows Firewall?
linux ufw status
Ah nice
Looks fine
I will add that and see what happens
It's needed
Watch the log while you connect ./FactoryServer.sh -multihome=0.0.0.0 -log
😂 what was the problem
I really apprecaite your time and the help
Np
i added 8888 rule to the firewall
Aah alright
i did not catch that in my setup
You're definitely not stupid xD
heh, thanks
i imagine you all get port issues a lot, i hate to be another to that number though
If I had a number for all the firewall mistakes I have made... it's a big number xD
heh. same. Well thanks again to you folks. ill go and let the others know they can play.
Have fun!
my friends cant seem to connect to my dedicated server. I have the server running with open ports (7777 7778 27015 37015 27020 15777 8889) {had to change reliable port to 8889 because of internal conflicts}
i can join the server from my 192 address but when they try joining my public ip they get "cannot connect to the server API"
please let me know what im overlooking or missing! ❤️
Did you forward your servers lan ip?
yes i did but it also randomly fixed itself. honestly idk but here he is so sorry for taking your time
Haha, np at all.
I play with a dedicated server but my friends are getting constantly a timeout when joining.
did you forward your servers lan ip?
yooo activechat, you overlooked my message but i shall forgive this disgression
-# please dont hurt me, i was just joking
can smm handle putty keys...?
i´ve send my router ip
thats your public ip they cant connect via that
but they see the server in the server manager
Did you forward the ip in your router?
its the ip from the router. the public warn ip. so its called here
You need to forward
7777 UDP
7778 UDP
15000 UDP
8888 TCP
why 8888 ?
its for Game traffic, Reliable messaging
np
What is smm?
satisfactory mod manager
Mods.. I think that is your problem xD
Then ho ask the developer
how do i renew the SSL Cert on a windows machine?
i checked that location but there are no certificates
1 sec
do you have FactoryGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
yes
wait nvm do you see a Certificates folder anywhere?
nope, looked all through admin profile and game location
also checked mmc for computer certificates
ye
hmm idk man so no FactoryGame/Certificates?
im pretty sure the issue is that it's not grabbing the trusted certificate from the windows certificate store, since this is an issue for other applications that rely on git for their SSL backend. the issue is: normally you can use a command to manually set git (and thus any program that uses it) to use the windows certificate store, which i did, but it still does not work.
i'd run it in a VM but the server it's running on is already a VM and is meant to run multiple different game servers (since they won't be in use at the same time, that was a more economical way to do it over having separate application servers).
i'm considering just looking to see if all the game servers i want to run can be hosted in docker, and re-create the server as a linux VM running portainer + docker for easier gameserver management.
it says it generated one but appears to still be using the old expired cert when visiting the https://<ip>:7777
the dedicated server uses a self-signed certificate by default, so an "Unknown CA" error is to be expected and normal.
could it be another game server is blocking the ports?
pterodactyl.io is good for running games in docker
Is it fixed or?
no its not fixed
maybe empty browser cache?
umm ok... weird now its fixed, new cert was generated
prob needed a restart
ive restarted it like 5 times
oh
all good, now i can go to bed, thanks 🙂
np!
why renew it?
It was expired i think
oh ye.. i see
idk then lol
somehow invalid then
ah yeah, missed it
using the old expired cert
nope, we used to have a terraria server on that port, but it's offline now (VM not running anymore) and the portforwarding has been changed to point to the new application server.
hey y' all dealt with the recurring and frustrating issue of your satisfactory server appearing offline? while running just fine. do a restart of the server and it shows up just fine. Few hours later back to showing offline while being online.
using this image: https://github.com/wolveix/satisfactory-server/tree/main and yes I have changed the messaging port multiple times to something else and the issue persists.
Did the new desync fixes in the changelog cause anyone else to have timeout/connection issues? I am running dedicated through a service provider and been working great for 4 of us. As of this patch 1 person cannot connect but 2 of us connect just fine. The person trying to connect is getting timeout error but he can hear game sounds before it boots him. If I watch the terminal while he tries to connect I see an error about Reliable something
Will grab the actual error when he tries to get back on but wondering if this is a known issue and he needs to do something on his side since 2 of us can already connect
what’s a dedicated server
self hosted server that runns 24/7
my friend has a dedicated server and I've got another friend who can register the server just fine yet when I try to put in the same address and port I get this (there are three servers because we've been trying different ports/addresses) anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
is the query port open or just the "connect" port?
Check if the host* of the server has Ports Forwarding set up properly
his router is probably just refusing the inbound connection because it's not setup properly
Maybe, I've also noticed that if i run other dedi servers (from steam n such) they all default to the same query port.
server-owner isn't aware of what a query port is but claims to probably have seen it be called by a different name
query port is old and unused by now
required are 7777/tcp, 7777/udp and 8888/tcp by default, adjusted if the hoster changed them
Not true Xeet, I've had multiple dedis up and running (ARK/Satisfactory) and ARK+Satisfactory fought for the port, it routed the incoming traffic all wrong and crashed both dedis, clients game and so forth. So it is def not unused
if i recall correctly its 27015 tcp/udp for the query
You can connect without opening it, but that requires a "forced" connection, like directly connecting
yeah, ARK dedi uses 7777/udp too, so there can be a conflict with satis server
and I know someone else was at least able to get his server in the server manager but always lost connection while trying to load in, when I can't even get that far
"lost connection" as in "infinite loading screen"?
honestly, it sounds like the firewall on the dedi server is blocking incoming traffic on that port. Have you checked logs / made sure those ports are open for incoming traffic ON the server PC?
or the port forwarding at the router is not/wrong configured
like in the advanced firewall settings? not the portforwarding required on the router
no, the loading screen froze then he got returned to main menu with a message about losing connection to the host
hm, are you useing IPv6?
Its either the portforwarding not being correct OR the advanced firewall setting on the server PC not accepting incoming connections on said port
my device isn't
you can see it in the server console if he is trying to connect through IPv6
Also, if you dont see any connection attempt in the serverconsole it is the port/firewall causing your headaches
which type of address are you using to reach the server? does it contain numbers and dots, numbers and colons or just words?
just words
and dots
we've tried addresses with numbers and dots, numbers dots and words, and words and dots
so, just a domain like "google.com", gotcha
Saltine, with your server PC/host google "whatsmyip" copy that IP, and add ":7777" to the end, as long as you havent changed the port from the default ones. Send it to your friend and have him try and connect. If the console shows a connection attempt ports are confiured correctly, if he times out with him showing up in the console its a firewall issue. if he doesnt show up in the console, its a portforwarding problem.
saltine is not the one hosting
well the host of said server then
ohh wait! WAIT! does your IPS provider have a filter for "unknown" adresses?
I have known some IPS provides to refuse the connection based on location, unknown connection and so forth
The typical "unsafe site" message you sometimes get, you know
he's not available for a few hours, he'll join this server when he is
how can I check this?
That is diffrent from every provider, if they even give you the option to mess around with it. I'd wait patiently and start with the other steps tbh. its a long rabbithole to go down
the ports he's been sending me to connect to have been different than the default
try the IP/adress he sendt, remove his port and add 7777 or 8888 and see if that works
he might have "changed" it incorrectly and not have it take effect
he says he can join just fine on the host computer on local address but gets the following server log when trying to join through the public address when it freezes and loses connection to the host
LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false LogGameMode: Display: Match State Changed from WaitingToStart to InProgress LogGame: Warning: Set Online State For Player : true - BP_PlayerState_C_########## LogGame: Warning: Could not process player whose OnlineState changed: local user was invalid LogStreaming: Display: 0.169 ms for processing 2986 objects in RemoveUnreachableObjects(Queued=0, Async=0). LogServer: Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed from now on (if enabled in server settings). WorldTimeSeconds = 54.73
replaced some numbers with # incase they're sensitive even though I'm pretty sure they aren't
the console for bootup is either further up or looks diffrent, but from what i can see it says its not online indicating a portforwarding problem prehaps? I'm not that good at reading the console tbh
at the start of the console log it'll say what port it binded and so forth, if it doesnt, then its not online as far as i know
@topaz idol can you try connection to the server api via browser?
enter https://<address>:<port> and see what happens
if you get a timeout, the ports are closed/blocked, if you get a site showing a "handler error" at least TCP works
I could, but i dont have said server adress
ah sry, i meant @drowsy dune
I've got a ton of combinations of address:port to go through, this will take awhile
Any starting with 10., 172., 192.168., fe or fd can be skipped
I can verify. My own dedicated server is offline since the birthday update as well.
will not start.
I am the friend that saltine was talking about earlier i looked through the logs and it says that it is connected to port 7777 and is running
tried this and it looks like my internet blocked it, switched to phone hotspot and now entering the ip and port just doesn't make anything, browser says DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Hi all, I've been running a dedi server for about 3 months now for some friends, however the server went down sometime around the last update due to windows updates and now i cant seem to get it back up and running. What info would help, im trying to get running tonight to play with friends.
Log files dont seem to have anything too helpful all i'm really seeing is "LogCore: Engine exit requested (reason: ConsoleCtrl RequestExit)"
Something is definitely wrong. Tried several times, even stood up a new VM. Same situation.
found a possible workaround. Back up .confg/Epic directory, remove the Satisfactory install dir, and rebuild with Steam download. Copy the world saves into the new .config/Epic directory, and restart the server. Hopefully it'll work for others.
can someone join my server and verify functionality
im having some issues where the game just doesnt seem to want to bind to ports, everything is forwarded, and sometimes it works over lan, is there anywhere i can find log files to share?
Do you have any other servers running?
Browser error implies a DNS problem. The domain couldn't be resolved or does not exist
i cant join server and have this issue on the user info
I reinstalled the game have the official 1.1 version no mods
Hi All,
New to managing a Dedicated Server. Got one set up with SteamCMD and have been having this issue since the rollout of 1.1.1.4. Seems that the DedicatedServer Infrastructure hasn't been updated to support the new version of the game (https://steamdb.info/depot/1690801). Am I on the right track with this or have I missed something important 😛
Run the SteamCMD updater bat file, just says there is no update available (as I expect given the above)
and to note i get to the server manager but just cant join the map
anybody wants to play normal save? (mic witch bad English and play for fun)
ok sorry
you must run same command as for install especially +force_install_dir otherwise you only installed it whole again elsewhere
If your running the Dedi Server on a Linux VM, try sh /home/<username>/Satisfactory/Steam/steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir /home/<username>/Satisfactory/ +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta public validate +quit with <username> being your current home directory.
Running through a Windows Server in my living room. Already using +force_install_dir in the cmd line. Got this, login anonamous, app_update 1690800 -beta public, validate then +quit
why assume they used some specific location for install
and that have nothing to do with VM
did you restart your server then ?
As in the cmd running file, or the actual server machine.
Ah, yes. I closed the actual server before trying to update it
point. Still waiting for coffee this morning. I guess they'd know what they were doing if using a Linux VM anyway, so NVM.
OOf, feels like a dig but ill take it 😛
I guess you thought different user maybe
double check the server location you put in force_install_dir is actual location your bat starts on
if it tells you it's up to date , it's up to date
so if it's still behind yet, it's 2 different thing running
just saw the bat and thought, "oh, nvm.... M$." Last personal exp with M$ was 2001. Never, ever, again.
oh so it was already that bad at the time ?
Yeah right. The server is presently offline and got nothing running on the Server itself except the updater but still isnt updating to the latest version.
Last decent OS from M$ was, to my knowledge, Win 2000. After that, it's been downhill. With the advent of Win7, I've noticed M$ poking in adverts into the interface. Horrid biz practices, but they have lawyers and politicians on payroll, so they get away with it all.
accept my request
Alls good, appreciate the assist with this but clearly somethings up with how I have set this up. There doesnt seem to be any reason it shouldn't be updating but ill check back in a few days
check your Lauch bat binary location
Found a resolution for this. Turns out the healthcheck that is supposed to run every sixty seconds didn't run at all. The reason why the server appears offline is for some unknown reason the satisfactory server no longer responds on port 7777. It is open. just no response. I resolved this by adding a healthcheck that makes a http post request to the satisfactory server's API for its health. if it fails it automatically restarts the server
hope this helps someone
Can anyone help me test my dedicated to ensure it's accessible? I think I solved the port forwarding issues but need to confirm with someone external
im not able to start a game via server. i played a while pre 1.0 through my docker server thing. worked great. now i get crshes or go back to main menu when want to join the game on the server.
https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/68c06589dbe2e46a549b7d3f (same thing like this guy posted 5 days ago)
did you forward the new port being used in 1.1 (8888)?
every time i log in, i have three solid biofuel stacks in my depot queue. its super weird. i can delete them, but the next time logging into the server, they are there again. i can put them in my inventory and the next time, there are three new stacks in the queue again
does anyone else have something like this?
I'm also having this issue, it worked fine when I played before the 1.1 update but now cannot connect to either my existing save or a new save on my server. The server is linux and I'm playing on linux via steam proton. Whenever I try to join the game it loads and then kicks me back to the title screen with connection lost
I will try this, thanks
That was the problem, thank you!
Glad you got it worked out!
i figured a temporary fix, my DNS is right, but it just wasnt binding and the only other used ports were 80 9090 25565 and 3000 nothing that should matter, i found just re-validating the files with steamcmd before every run fixes whatever was wrong
Hey all, I am running a dedicated satisfactory server that is working fine for the most part. I host the server on my own network on a seperate machine. I can play from my PC, other players can play online with no issues. But one of my players is unable to join. When they add the server to the server manager they get the error:
Could not connect to the server. Unsupported Response Content-Type received from the Server API. with an option to Retry but it didnt help.
I was not able to find much in the way of this error on the wiki or reddit. Any help will be much appreciated.
Hi guys, got a dedicated server thats working fine except when the server "force restart" we got error and cant join anymore. Anyone encounter that ?
What does the error message say and have you tried ~10 minutes after the restart ?
Couple of hour after and we got this
This been 3 days in a row thats we start fresh because each force restart we cant log back
o well look like its the translucent conveyor belt mod that screw everything sorry for bothering 😄
Since you mentioned other players are able to join, I wonder if that person is adding the server incorrectly? Maybe putting in the wrong port or something like that?
this didnt seem to be the case. The server actually did come up in the background with seemingly all the right info. Like the servers name and status. But still had the error.
on the problem players client i mean
Is there a plugin system, like server-side mods?
I might try and make one if none exists
!modding
bot is drunk again. There is a whole discord dedicated to mods/plugins
I joined.
Can a dedicated server have 2 different saves not at once but 2 to swap back and forth from?
yes
you can load any save, simply make sure it does not name clash
Alright ty
Wdym by that?
that the saves have different names, so the last automatic saves does not overwrite the other save
ah ok ty
note: I mean save session name, not the file name, which will be ignored by the game server
Hello iam getting back after few months to hosting server i updated it thru SteamCMD and after i launched it i conected to ip of thad server with password no problem. But when i try to connect to the server it will try to connect for some time but then i throws timeout. I dont know how to fix it. Server log of the timeout:

I know it may not be network issue cuz the server is connected to my pc with lan dirrectly and works for other servers like minecraft/cs2. i forwarded 7777 and 15777 both udp and tcp
If you skipped a few months, did you open the new 8888/TCP port in your firewall/port forwarding?
No. I will try
its working. Thank you so much for saving me another few hours of troubleshooting.
You can close port 15777 (if it is still open)
Anybody searching for a satisfactory buddy (preferably dutch)
is there an location to look up the set up guide as i see this is more a question set up
See wiki link in pins
Is anybody else having their server freeze up a lot more lately? Mine seems to have started locking up every few hours when nobody is connected since the last update. Already tried setting up a fresh instance outside of AMP Panel (game server management software) that lead to much better performance, still locking up though.
so, do servers just randomly decide to put shit (like cars and train stations) at 0,0,0 sometimes while if you load the save locally it's at its normal location? nevermind, its an inactive asset dump
Hi all, im new to Satsifactory and im setting up a dedicated server. Just wondering if its best to use SteamCMD or the tool in steam to do this? As ive tried to do it with the steam tool however i keep getting "failed to connect to server API" error
both are valid
if you can't connect it's probably something with your network.
for more specific help we need more information about your setup
ok which information do you need? ive done the port forwarding in firewall both TCP and UDP for 7777
first thing would be where your server is. same system, different system in your home networ or a cloud server?
same system, local IP on my own computer
does it work with "localhost" as the address?
im sorry i dont know what you mean by that? Im very new to setting up servers 🫣
as in set up a server and type Localhost instead of my IP?
when you add the server in the server-manager in-game, try with "localhost" as the address
no
oh ok
"localhost" only works on the local system
next step is to try to connect to your internal IP
Is that the IPv4?
yeah
thats what i did earlier and thats when it came up with the error
then set the firewall to allow incoming traffic to 7777/TCP, 7777/UDP and 8888/TCP
oh ok i hadnt done 8888 yet, let me add that rule now
missing 8888 won't trigger your error, it'll show as a timeout when trying to connect ("infinite loading screen")
yeah it did that
what would be triggering the failed to connect to server API error?
can you see the server ping?
showing as 20ms atm
then 7777/TCP is not working
base ports working then. this is with your local IPv4?
it is yeah
can you join the world?
ah. probably a UDP issue then
should be yes
do you know how i fix the UDP issue?
can you try disabling the firewall and try again? just to rule out the firewall
still get the same error
might be a windows issue then. let's skip this for now.
you said you already configured portforwarding on your router/firewall? then your friend should be able to connect
you can try it yourself by useing your WAN IP, but it might not work. depends if your firewall/router supports hairpin NAT
do i need to do the 8888 on my router as well? as i havent done that one.
yes
ah ok lemme do that then
ok ive done that, and i need to connect with what now?
WAN IP?
how can i know if it supports hairpin NAT?
your routers external IP
and just try it. if it does not work have your friend try
or use a port scanner
sorry, how do i get the external IP from the router? 🫣 i really am a noob with all this stuff sorry
either it is somewhere shown in your routers webUI
or google "what is my ip"
What is my ip only shows my IPv4.. let me try to find it another way
its showing me these
for your router?
yeah are you in the UK or elsewhere?
elsewhere
probably the ipv4 address then
yeah, thats the one ive been using 🤔
if you want, you can PM me the IP and i can check
ohhh im in!
wth lol..
Thanks for your help!! im not sure what changed there, but i set it up again with my IPv4 and now it works.. so weird lol
thank you so much 😁
np
i'm still having issues with my server and the public IP not connecting due to "failed to connect to server API"
i have switched the underlaying server to an ubuntu server (latest LTSC release) running Dockge, the server itself is running in a docker container managed via dockge.
the compose.yaml file for it is as follows:
services:
satisfactory-server:
container_name: satisfactory-server
hostname: satisfactory-server
image: wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest
ports:
- 7777:7777/tcp
- 7777:7777/udp
- 8888:8888/tcp
volumes:
- ./satisfactory-server:/config
environment:
- MAXPLAYERS=4
- PGID=1000
- PUID=1000
- STEAMBETA=false
restart: unless-stopped
deploy:
resources:
limits:
memory: 8G
reservations:
memory: 4G
networks:
dockge_default:
external: true
ports 7777 and 8888 are both forwarded on my router.
connecting using internal IP works fine.
how do you try to connect when you get the error?
i had some weird forwarding issues and i just had to validate my files whenever i run the server
Yes
Question I'm pretty new to this whole "dedicated server" thing, what is there so much to talk about that it deserves its own room?
External IP, but i figured it out.
Server does not like it when you connect using external ip from the network the server is on. My GF had the same error, but it cleared up when she put her PC on a different network.
So basically: not a problem because me and my GF can just use the internal ip
Because hosting a service can get complicated, and afaik dedicated servers aren't entirely fleshed out yet.
In theory, setting up a dedicated server is as easy as download, run, port forward. In reality.... Theres issues.
Anyone by chance use PIA VPN and have a satisfactory server running behind it? VPN split tunnel works fine for everything but Satisfactory, ive added the FactoryServer,FactoryServer-Win64-Shipping-Cmd.exe's to the bypass but no one externally can connect. If I disconnect VPN. It works fine.
Hola, quien sabe español?
is there currently any bugs that create new characters for people that join a server because for one of my friends the game spawns him a new person instead of using his old person for some reason and other times it puts him in the right body. does anyone know what might cause this issue?
host issues
is there some fix for it because it seams to be quiet randomly happening
it happened to me once and i just killed my other selfe and it was fine for me
im not sure how to solve it when it happens that frequently
the bigger problem is that it creates a player sitting character thats immune without any data on it and i cant even remove them trough edditing the save file
ok thats weird, mine wasnt immune
like it also says this over the sitting character that there are 3 of in the world with the same text above. it even shows that if u load it up in a single player world
takes alot of hits with that tool
my friend hit him with a xeno smasher a lot too and it isnt dying
ok yea they just tanked alot of dmg apparently
and they are now gone too
yay
afaik it's a problem with clients sometimes registering with their steamID, Epic or none of the two
Hey guys, wondering if I might be able to get some help. I keep getting the message "The server appears to be offline" when trying to join through the server manager screen ingame. I have set ports 7777/tcp 7777/udp and 8888/tcp to allowed in my router settings, and the server picks up that I'm trying to connect to it. My firewall is also allowing connections from these ports, yet nothing seems to work. If it helps, im running Linux, and the dedicated server is on the latest version (according to steamcmd)
I also successfully ran the same dedicated sever before the 1.0 update, and did not have this issue.
When trying to directly connect to the server, I get this error.
Does your firewall allow connections FROM or TO 7777&8888?
It must be TO, not FROM
7777 is set to listen, 8888 is not being shown as in use
Can you post the firewall rules?
Uh localhost doesnt as I am running the server on a dedicated computer
Thats when it returns the timed out error I showed before
Yes
Does it work when you disable the firewall?
Nope
Does this help at all?
I used steamcmd to update it earlier, but I am now unsure if that worked
Well, if firewall off still doesn't work it's either the wrong IP or something wrong with the server.
Can you send more of the server log?
Is there somewhere I can find the log file?
idk tbh
Is it loading an older, bigger, save or a fresh one?
Can you try with a new save?
Okay, after a clean install of the dedicated server, and a wipe of the save, it still doesnt work
I mean given the message it's not a server issue, it's a networking issue
Good Morning everyone. I am having an issue when trying to login to my dedicated server i have setup on my personal server. Have set it up through Steamcmd and followed all instructions. I can see server in the menu to add server get that all sqauared away then whe i join game it tries then says lost connection to host. all ports forwarded as they should be. was wondering if i am missing something? Also first time playing game and wanting to have the dedicated for me an my firends so we can play at different times.
Ok i am here @silent frost
so am I...
it seems to me that its a player issue from what it shows in the sever instance when it tries to load when i log into it
Okie dokie, when you are connecting as the log message shows. Is your client (game computer) on the same local network as the server OR are you attempting to connect through the internet?
same local network
Ooof, ok
both pcs set next to each other
it's going to sound very stupid... check the wires
i have other servers for other games running on it as well and log into the no issues
no wiring issues
i have an enshroded palworld and last oasis realm all running on it and login with no problems
its not a cpu or ram issue
alright, on the second machine, confirm it's connected via opening a browser and loading like msn.com or something
and the server one?
so yes its on internet
yes man i wouldnt be here if it were that somple
been in comomputers for 30 yrs
and I've been in computers for 40 years, been told a switch was on, drove an hour, and turned the switch on
it's stupid, it's repedative, IT IS CONFIRMATION. nothing more
well as i said wouldnt bee here if it was something siple
i have went through all instals for dedi servers i can find on you tube
what about the one in the pin here?
did exact as they did only differece is i lose connection once i try to join game
that i have created on the server through the pc i am gamiong on
so it sees the server through network
is the server installed on your host machine using your steam account?
but when i try to join created game on server it then trys to load into it then goes to the lost connection to host
it is installed on my private server through steamsmd
as the youtube vids showed
all updated
have you tried https://www.canyouseeme.org/
I would try to see if it's the local firewall and disable it completely maybe? 🤷
I'm not sure if router matters with a LAN connection
well if it was a firewall issue i shouldnt be able to see it when i add a server correct on my pc i am going to play on
That's not true
if i put the local addess for my server in to add it that way shows offline but if i go public ip it finds it online
that is also confusing
Can you find out what ports the server is using and let me know?
If the server is windows: Get-NetUDPEndpoint and Get-NetTCPConnection can do that
^ in powershell
Default is like 7777
Apparently
yes thats what is used and forwarded in router an firewall
i am reinstalling server see if that helps
ok so after reinstall of the dedicated server files on my server
it seen the server when using local IP tried loading in but never connected.
Then tried to use my public IP and it did same thing lost connection to host lol
If you can not connect locally then it's a local issue most likely I would guess
i guess lol wont worry about it then
My only guess is the firewall or antivirus is pooping on the connection
could be
If you can disable those temporarily that may allow us to rule that out
not being able to even see it locally sounds like a firewall issue. Or wrong IP settings
i could see it locally
i just disabled windows firewall an boom instant join
what a joke lol sorry to bother you all an take up your time
can you show your firewall settings?
well i added the factoryserver.exe to the firewall and now it connects everytime wit virus protection on
Ty all for the help its up an going now
I would follow the instructions here: https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers there is a powershell command to do the firewall rules that you can cut and paste to rule out any other issues
OOOOH
i had to add the factoryserver.exe to the exceptions
OK, glad you figured it out
guys my server appears offline for my friend
i have already forwarded the ports
7777 and 8888
can you friend see the server ping?
can he access https://<IP>:<PORT> in a browser?
i can't find the issue
can he access https://<IP>:<PORT> in a browser?
no
then your port 7777 setup is wrong or you are giving them the wrong ip
Hello, guys, hope you're all alright !
My mate and myself have been trying all day to open a dedicated server but without sucess. We do see the server appearing into our games but we alway hit "Connection with host lost", and we can't work our head around that .. Anyone could help out ? 🙏🏻
my sever looks like it offline
can someone help top slove the issue
solve*
nevermind
Hi have you set your inbound rules in windows firewall
?
Yes and it is port forwarded too
sorry i don't knmow
Im admin for a server "Sanctuary of the Doomed" we only need players to talk in chat of or satisfactory page to get the password.
We are at phase 5, most of the map is hardly used
Hi guys, Im a total noob whos troubleshooting left and right but somehow i managed to get a Linux Server running in Proxmox (i think).
I can even add it in Satisfactory and see a ping to it, but whenever i try to connect and join on it (im in the same network) I get a Connection timeout....
anyone got an idea why?
I will let this one run longer even after the goals are completed, some players like experiement with builds with other player input
IM getting this error when trying to save a blueprint on my dedicated server, i canst use Bps cause of this
I understand you have to port forward several ports:
Server port 7777
Query port 15777
Beacon port 15000
Is this still true for patch v1.1?
No
7777 TCP
7777 UDP
8888 TCP
Is what you need in 1.1
Most likely a firewall issue. Port forwarding shouldnt come into play for local traffic.
any idea how i would check this?
is it a firewall issue on my client PC or the Server?
I encountered the same problem, and the system I'm using is Ubuntu 25.04.
UFW is disabled by default.
and if you put the IP:port in a browser address bar?
if its a late stage/very developed world, the timeout threshhold may need to be extended
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers/Configuration_files#Client_disconnected_for_Timeout
but that seldom happens in a local network scenario
I had the same problem. We created four permissions.
One for incoming TCP 7777 and TCP 8888. One for outgoing UDP 7777 and TCP 8888. After that, it worked.
It was suposed to be like this ?
in the outgoing
nope
outcoing:
Double-click on the entry and allow the connection under General.
If you insert the protocols under Outgoing, they are disabled by default by Defender. You must always activate them manually during setup or afterwards.
this i corrected already,but thanks
Hello there,
Seeking some assistance on my private dedicated server (4netplayers server). We're 2 players on it and we're experiencing terrible instability.. Lags, rollbacks, performance issues..
I honestly doubt this is an hardware issue, but seems more linked to the server itself.
I'm still seeing this "version" of the game in the advanced settings of the server (4netplayers dashboard) displaying 1.0 (while the game is 1.1 obviously) - see attached.
The thing is that the game allows us to get the latest items like elevators for ex. So the game itself is at the proper update 1.1.
Could the server be setup for 1.0 while we're running a 1.1 version of the game ?
Anyone experiencing issues with this provider, or could have an idea on how to solve this ?
Thanks in advance for those helping !
Unfortunately, we had the same problem. Even with other providers such as Nitrado, more and more problems arose after a while as progress increased. This manifested itself in lag, players being teleported back, trains being displayed strangely, and so on.
The problem was only resolved when we moved to a Windows server.
You can check whether you can see the server utilization. Ours was always at 99%. With paid upgrades, the problem was solved for the time being, but as the factory grew, the problems returned.
Hello guys, I am seeking some much needed assistance. I keep getting the following error: Version mismatch detected between game and server. Game version: 424353 Server Version: 433351. Does anyone know how to fix this without updating the game version? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Either Update the Client or Downgrade the server
how do i downgrade the server
You need to find the specific build you need and download it
i know someone in this channel already did this, but not how
By "windows server", do you mean hosted on your own machine/not from any provider ?
As you described.. All vehicules are rolling back/teleporting/having issues, etc... Many many issues while we're not that far into the game (just reaching oil stuff).
Don't know how to check the server data/utilization.. Kind of newbie in that stuff.. (why I'm paying a server i.o. doing it myself)..
Thanks so much
is it better a while after restarting the server?
Not really.. We usually try to restart the server when we start a session to "reset" the cache data and stuff, but we're experiencing issues from the very start of our time playing
i guess it's a host issue then
I've searched for all the reddit topics, tutorials or else, but nothing conclusive.
Also sent a request to the 4NP support, let's hope they could provide me with an answer soon.. whether it is solving or not the issue, but at least enlight the situation..
I’m getting this error trying to save BPs on my dedicated server, my session name is JustKenny so I don’t think that is causing the issue. Also it says bid failed to write to disk
But I saw it created the BP folder in the saved file location
i would still suggest looking at the name and make sure that there is not a space at the front or end of it. just now tested in windows 11, when creating the folder it removes those spaces, so while you think it created one with the correct name, it maybe of just forced the removal the spaces and it doesn't match the session name at that point.
I removed any spaces, I know sometime the save on a Dedi Server create a space for some odd reason
But I found the solution, session name can not have any captial letters on top of not having special characters or any spaces
How do I make a server?
hi guy after more than 400H into my dedicated server i have issue, me and everyone trying to connect into the dedicated server have a error message "connection has been lost" i use the wolveix image. and i don't understand why ... are there any change in the last dedicated server or client config ?
Hi guys,i can't connect to my own dedicated server, even by trying the local ip, the service iss starting and seem halthy but i can't connect to it "connection to the host was lost" since 8888 port is already use by gluetun i opened 8889 and 7777 on my router but no change
Are you adding the server in-game with like ip_address:8889?
and updated firewall rules to 8889
just tried this , dod the firewall for 8889, but it seem to connect when just usign the ip withouth the port, with it it show me this
docker logs satisfactory-server
See if it's throwing any errors related to ports
i don't see error with the port
i tried to create a new game for testing, same result
Seems that it is at least connecting, not sure why it then TimesOut
even on local i can't that what i find weird, the server is on portainer ubuntu on my mini-pc , and i try to connect from my gaming pc
Yea similar setup that I have
the port chaning to 8889 doesn't change anything right ? it's just a port
i don't even need to open my port to connect to local just for testing
Not 100% sure if you change to 8889 you have to change the to 7779 also, probably not
Not really enough in the log to know why it's timing out which suggests it's something going on with the client
i don't use any mods,i launched it in vanilla, and my friend can join me when i launch the co-op party we have (not dedicated)
Hmm, maybe a firewalling issue on the server? Is it definitely listening on the 7777's ?
yep it says listening on port 7777 when i started it i'm sure of it
getting this as error
Are you able to telnet to the server on 7777 and see if it accepts?
Hello, I have a satisfactory server and it's only for friends, so whoever wants to join, tell me privately and I'll give them my Steam account name.
how do i do that on my mini-pc ?
On your desktop pc
in Command Prompt simply - telnet 192.168.....:7777
I forgot the IP of the mini-pc
No dash at the start
it was'nt activated on my windows that why
telnet 192.168.1.9 7777 (sorry I put a colon by habit)
windows says that it's not a command 🙁
Oh
I thought that was a standard included one
Ah... "search for and open "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Start menu, then find and check the box next to "Telnet Client" in the list and click OK"
that what i do just before, still not getting the command, welp
Reopen the command prompt maybe
i restarted my whole computer 🙁 still nothing
C:\Windows\System32\telnet.exe 192.168.1.9 7777
Silly question but have you checked you have telnet installed before trying to use it
i think is not installed yep i have a telnetexe.mui
Check if there's anything in the aforementioned location, I'd link microsoft's guide to installing it but apparently links aren't allowed here so google it yourself ig
Are you 100% sure that 7777/udp and 7777/tcp are open on your mini-pc in the firewall rules?
i will try, but i wanted to use a domain name to avoid this kind of issue 🙁 , and now i'm obligated to use it
Uh, TIL I didn't think you could use domain names for satisfactory servers
for minecraft i did get it working, but wanted to do the same for satisfactory
did open 8889 et 7777, still getting the error
how do i specify the udp/tcp on command line ?
ufw
Just googling it... I use iptables so I'm a bit rusty on ufw
sudo ufw allow 7777/udp
sudo ufw allow 7777/tcp
@tender crag you must inform the server about the port change as the server tells the client the secondary port
sorry what ? like in the compose ?
yeah, change the mapping to the desired port and inform the server itself via the environment variable "SERVERMESSAGINGPORT"
like this ??
Is there no space before the :
not 100% sure about docker syntax, might be "SERVERMESSAGINGPORT=8889"
That would be my guess
yep with the = the stack update
gonna try with this but you're the frist person to tell me this about changing the port
okay i'm in
now i need to or get the domain name up for my friend , or to keep the port open
You got a static IPv4 ?
big thanks to all of you nonetheless
yep
You can always just port map in the router and he can connect to your public IP
port forwarding is required anyway without some kind of tunnel into your network
that what i'm gonna try 🙂 i hope it will work
gl
IP does not have to be static, just public. and IPv6 works too*
-# *:except a small bug on the client
Yep, just easier for friend if it changes a lot but certainly can. And v6 definitely preferential if have a delegation
non-static ips can be fixed with a domain and a DDNS setup
you can, it gets resolved in the background
-# and is required for IPv6 anyway
Uh, I'm 90% sure I'm using ipv6 without a domain name
Wait nope
ipv4
Just checked, idk why I assumed
afaik there is still a bug on the client side when you use a IPv6 address in the server manager
You don't need a domain name as such, it might look nicer, and just point the A / AAAA records to your IPs but certainly not "required"
domain is just IP with extra DNS steps /s
I mean basically yea
Try your luck in #1201555265942724758 🙂
Thanks
Hello guys I’m running a dell power edge server and I wanted to use some of the specs to run status factory but I don’t get it I installed the tool opens the ports but how do I know if it’s working how is it loading a map with all the settings
the first one to connect gets to claim the server and then can upload/create a save and load it
okay thanks now i have one thing i have installed the epic games tool but is it start and it works or do you need to do any thing
If it's anything like the Steam dedicated server version you just run it
Open the ports on the server's firewall and connect in game in the server manager, etc
It's better to run as a service if you don't want to have to babysit it though
Yeah
Idk why people keep doing server stuff on windows but for some reason they do e_e
Only Windows I have is the desktop yep xD
That's the way imo
Windows or Linux desktop, linux server
MacOS is for feeding to dogs and poultry
Never owned an Apple product xD
Windows is mainly for gaming otherwise I would probably go Linux
Linux gaming did strides in the last ~5 years, it's honestly great for anything that doesn't have an annoying DRM (riot products, and stuff on older versions of easyanticheat)
For stuff that has an annoying DRM, there's a solution but unfortunately I'd get kicked if I suggested it x)
Yeah it's getting better with the help of Valve. I do play quite a few Triple-A's and a lot don't support it. I'd estimate 30% of my library has linux support, might be a bit higher
Oh that's a LOT of triple As
Cyberpunk 2077 has great Linux support, I've tested that, runs really well
Oh that's just the total library percentages
Not all tripleA xD
I avoid triple As like the plague, it's mostly just valorant that keeps me on windows rn (and laziness)
Once I get motivated to rebuild a PC I'm switching to a dual boot ubuntu/windows 11 probably
I prefer debian in theory but it recently dropped support for some non-free software and that's annoying to deal with
