forward TCP and UDP 7777 to your server IP...
That means 2 rules need to be made.
.
well, you did the restart
how are your other resources? ram, disk latency/iops/usage ?
all fine
again i don't really think it's the actual server, i think it's the satisfactory server
i ran it on update 8 before 1.0 litterally the same day and played on it for a bit, and it was going flawlessly like usual
i dont have any tickrate issues, i only have a relative high ping, my ping is 17ms which is for other game servers below 2ms
what did u put for network quality?
Limiting network speed..
how much data it sends in 1 message i believe
but i do not see any real difference in changes, i got internal 100gbit connection and 2gbit external
so if i put it on low instead of high what are the pros and cons
sorry i'm not too good at this stuff
i am not the guy who created the net code, but this is their explanation
from what i understand it sends bigger packets at once i would stay around medium/high if you got good networking and your cpu can keep up
i'll try and leave it on medium and see
thanks for the help
u need udp aswell
from what i gathered from the preview video of coffeestain
then you need to create 2 rules, one using udp and another tcp
but you still need to add to adress and to port fields
and this is mine
what does this drop down menu give you?
I'm aware I probably have to wait until the Mod Manager updates, but are there any working discord bots that link the game server chat to discord?
help pls
Passthrough sounds like a good candidate. Does it change, when you select that?
There is no chat endpoints in the official API to my knowledge
Ahh dang, I was worried about that. Only bots I was able to find were ones that showed server population.
Thanks for the info!
What a shame though, I don't know why something like discord integration isn't bundled/added to the server side stuff.
its not that hard to connect discord bot to the server API, but we dont have chat functionality)
Now i'm interested if mods could enchance HTTPS API with new endpoints... ๐ค
Okay, could you also show me what it shows on top, if you expand the Src. Address Node?
What happens if you try forward?
And regarding the action, what does it show, when selecting accept?
And thats all for the action tab for both options? I can see you can scroll, but it might be just the other sections.
no worries bro u helped
Hey guys! i am having issues with blueprints on my dedicated server. Seems to be kicking everyone whenever someone tries to save it. im hosting it on g-portal. any suggestions?
Hi Everyone, could you please help me with the following?
I've tried to setup my dedicated server, it is only, i can see it running but for my friends it shows offline.
Port 7777 15000 15777 are open and everything is good.
I've used Steamcmd.
Any idea?
Port 7777 is good enough, but you have to make sure to open it for tcp and udp both
Good afternoon, I have a dedicated server on 8x CPU 32 GBs RAM
I've started using Blueprints heavily in the last two days, somehow today I'm starting to get Timeout (and the server crashes).
I have no mods and no modifications made, it's a simple vanilla setup.
You can see attached it has enough resources for sure but it still crashes, any idea what might have went wrong ?
Before I started using Blueprints I had 0 timeouts/crashes.
I can only see the following errors:
Sep 22 14:22:18 satisfactory-server FactoryServer-Linux-Shipping[38963]: LogOnlineSchema: Error: Invalid schema category lobby: Service descriptor id lobby not found.
Sep 22 14:22:18 satisfactory-server FactoryServer-Linux-Shipping[38963]: LogOnlineSchema: Error: Invalid schema category lobbymember: Service descriptor id lobbymember not found.

PS: The game/server crashes when I press Clear Blueprint Designer and sometimes when I use specific blueprints.
I would assume it's because of that belt maybe ? Is it possible that one of the blueprints bugged and it's doing this ?
Thank you!
PS: I have removed all the blueprints that I've created recently from the server, restarted the server and re-created some of the blueprints again. Now it looks stable, somehow it might have bugged before ?
PS2: Now even if the bugged blueprint doesn't exist, when I clean the blueprint creator (from a total different blueprint) the bugged one pops up, wtf ?
Is there a way to turn on advanced game settings on a server that is already running?
Or is there a way to be able to give players on the server the ability to fly?
I think you can turn it on, when loading a game?
@noble valve tried everything but still lagging out...
With advanced game settings you can't like spawn items or anything right?
also compared to a clean save? maybe something is lagging it out in the game
this is pretty much a clean save ahahha
Thank you not a fan of that guess I just gotta walk around everywhere just wanted fly lol
i mean you have the choise to not give yourself stuff
hypertubes, jetpack, cars
like just don't press the button
How to fix your connection to the host has been lost
figure out where the connection got dropped...
I don't think I have enough self control lmfao
how did you get such a map? radar?
but sorry i have not really anymore ideas besides somehow your save got bugged by something like a migration issue, a car glitching out the physics or something
Get drunk 1 night and have everything
satisfactory map
how can i go about
there's no cars or things with ragdoll, only belts and machines
again i got no clue wat's happenin
can u send a screenshot?
In case it helps anyone having the same issue. ( Client Timeout / Server Crash )
I had to:
- Stop server
- Remove blueprint file
- Download save, upload into Satisfactory Calculator, remove all occurrences of the broken Blueprint (I know which one, because anytime I would try to clean it up/delete the server would crash)
- Add save back
- Start server
yeah blueprints are kinda broken
they mean scim
I made a blueprint myself from scratch, really basic just 8 Smelters.
I think somehow one of the belts broke, how or why I really don't know, no mods and nothing special.
thank you for the clarification
I might have some bad news for you if you're running a dedicated server.
I was running mine with 4x CPU and 16 GBs of RAM, it was LAGGY as fuck. ( I mean, 2 seconds to pull your sword )
After bumping to 8x CPU and 32 GBs of RAM, everything is instant & smooth
This happened right at the start, without any building or any complex setup, literally just 2 miners on the map.
Vanilla, no mods, no modifications, nothing extra.
single threaded game go not-brrrr
Not sure if multicore is really that important. The wiki states that single core performance is also quite crucial
Agree but servers in general go for multi-core rather than single-core-big-ghz
(but this is a) gaming server
does anyone know why it tells me "Not Authenticated"/"Failed to Connect to Server API" and how I can fix it?
Did it work before?
:))
did you go through the checklist of stuff to verify
Got it when I forgot to forward 7777 on tcp AND udp on my routeur
should be 7777
where can I find the list?
see my name
also linked in top pin, nice
also channel topic
fandom is the old wiki
fandom is bad
Don't use fandom
also yeah fandom bad
They're shitty
oh I haven''t played in years sry ๐
np
there you go :D
Still no ban and other admin management features for servers? Public dedicated servers are still obsolete since their release in 2021. There's no point to host one for large communities, yet (for 3 years straight)
what's the largest amount of ram you guys have seen the dedi server proc use
lmao nope
help
post log
how
what problem do you even have?
guys please help me bro i want play i love satisfactory
and what is your problem?
with the new server API that might change
that narrows it down.
No word about banning in the API documentation yet
that is not how you should see it ๐
don't get your hopes up
do you mean down?
modding now allows in theory only server-side mods, and even if not, the server API allows communication between the client and the server
if the server sees a certain userID he could be instantly kicked if he is in a blacklist similar to banning
for example
What kind of network do you have. Cabel or WiFi?
why would it
client side mod + server side mod
if i change the tick rate on the server do i need to change it on the client configs also?
unlikely
no, u dont
On what system is your server installed?
modding now allows in theory only server-side mods
the tickrate is simply the amount of updates that happen per second
yes, in theory, i havent tested yet, and wont rely on that, worst case u use both client + server
and that will allow for large public servers
do i need to change on the client computers also? or just the server?
64 128 tick servers bro
no, 64 iz gud
cs2 tickless is just a meme
higher tick is cool and all but they use more computing power and more network bandwidth for minimal noticeable difference
My main point is, this is a default feature for any dedicated server. Why would hosts need to use an API to implement a critical core feature of dedicated game servers?!
plugins* or mods, for managing permissions
you can set server password to control who plays
but yeah i get your point
so, when getting the netowrk error saying UNetConnection::tick: connection timed out. constantly doesn't have to deal with the tick rate?
no
it prolly has something to do with the fact that each player atm can have multiple player ids
lol
so, then how do i fix that error?
its due to you losing connection to the server, can be due to bad network, extremely high ping or server hard crashing
Generally, the first byte of the ID indicates the type of Online Backend used (1 for >Epic Games Store, 6 for Steam, see values in UE's EOnlineServices type), and the following bytes are specific to the Online Backend, but generally represent the player account ID. For Steam, it would be a big-endian uint64 representing the player's SteamID64, and for Epic, it would be a HEX-encoded EOS ProductUserId string.
so given u connect ur epic account, to your steam install or vice-versa you may have 2 ids
k can understand getting that if i was super far away from the server. But i have a dedicated computer that i install the server on, and its right beside me.. in my own house. lol
it can be due to config issues then, make sure you connect to the local ip directly and that the server doesnt crash
with default configs, should run fine
For a public community this is easily bypassed even if you had a whitelist and give the password to those that only ask. Someone that was banned would just create a Discord alt and ask for the new password, just hard to trace and I have no single clue why the devs didn't implement such a standard feature (again for 3 years straight ๐ค)
thats just it.. i have default configs, i can jump into the server and not even 2 minutes later. i get that error. then just close the game. reconnect to the server. the server doesn't even crash. or shutdown. its stays up. i just get kicked
is the host pc on wifi or ethernet?
i tried both
not sure then, maybe someone else will know
thanks.. I appreciate your input
run a ping? that can at least rule out the network if it's not that
can also hit it with dopeghoti's tool for checking the game server latency
my buddy keeps disconnecting and getting kicked out from the server
but no one else is
sounds like a him problem
Hey ๐
I'm working on web dashboard for dedicated servers and struggling with deploying my own server.
If someone is interested in using such dashboard and is willing to give the server for testing i'll really appreciate it โบ๏ธ
Now it can only show server stats, but i'm working on server settings and other things
like api access?
Hey all, last night my server kept crashing and each time was throwing this critical error:
Thoughts?
what's the stack? can't static site browser-only because cors afaik, i tried
yeah, it needs api token. It can be empty server, im not interested in your data or machine)
I just want to test it not on the local server
Im using Next js server actions to ignore SSL
forward or unblock tcp access to the ports
any chance you're using blueprints on that server
our own blureprints yes, not any we downloaded
and we were messing with blueprints when this was happening
lol
as in: I have been designing them. Can you not use blueprints on servers?
well you're not the first whose server has exploded from using blueprints
interesting. Now, would it just be while using them or could the fact I have blueprints and was out exploring and this happened still cause it?
that was an awful sentence re-reading it lol
Check this out, I had a similar problem earlier
thanks love
but my pretty decoration blueprints ๐ฆ that low barrier light people came up with is so pretty
I would start from the last ones, it is what it is sadly
what do you mean server exploding from using bps?
๐ฎ
as in it affects performance?
hard crashing, see their screenshot of the log
okkay
its steam server
i have a 4x 16gb, and was running an update 8 with about 10 mods and way too much stuff
constant 30tps and 30ms
this is why im saying it's quite wierd
i know 1.0 brought A LOT of content but i don't think its enough to fully demolish performance
Ok and how do you start the server?
Continiue
i don't know if they asked u already, but does the console give u any errors?
is anyone else having issues with version mismatches on the game and the server? I tried updating through SteamCMD but it still says it's a mismatch.
Honestly, it seems to me that you are not very tech-savvy. I'd recommend you rent a server or invite others over steam to play with you.
from what i saw you can just re-install it and it'll work
just save your save file and upload it
reinstall the factory server app?
like re-setup the server itself ahah
pretty much a fresh install and you just upload the save file
i am now getting this on my server console.. any ideas?
LogNet: UNetDriver::TickDispatch: Very long time between ticks
gotcha, thanks
what's your tick rate on the server?
They are default
be sure to download the save first yeah
what's the cpu
press Server Manager>[your server]>status>avarage tick rate
it's probably low
where is console bro
where are u running the server? on your pc?
i don'
see that.
do you mean steamcmd?
is the server online?
i see it.. avergae tick rate is 30
no i was trying steamcmd all day but i stop trying because it was too hard to forward my ports
from router
now i just click play whit friends and steam
oh
ohhhhhhhhh
people here thought you was hosting an actual server
i am hosting a server lol..
that's wierd, is the server running correctly?
i was talking to the other guy
i iwsh i could
the server runs fine.. then it boots up. but watching the server console, it tells me LogNet: UNetDriver::TickDispatch: Very long time between ticks.. and it just keeps spamming that over and over. lol
or would same error be there
it's yellow isn't it?
i don't think it would
I'm running a server in a container in proxmox, cpu is i5-8500t, which boosts to 3.5 ghz. I had 4 people playing last night and we all had 300 ms ping, unless we were close to each other in game. Is there anything I can do to mitigate high ping?
but hosting on your pc might be heavy if you don't have a really strong one
ping is mostly connection related remember, cpu affects it aswell
my pc is pretty good but not the best internet
heh
you might want to give it a try just to see if it works fine
@vestal tartan have you tried lowering the network quality on the server?
I have 300 mb down and about 35 mb up, a single core is hitting 100% usage for that lxc in proxmox. It's wild that 3.5 ghz isn't enough for 4 people
lol miniest of mini pcs
it was really confusing to forwarmd port from my router settings
Not yet but I will
Clock rate is far from the most important factor here
300/35 ain't that much server wise i'll be honest with you
what's the cpu? just wondering
what i wanted to say next
i9 12gen
oh just open your ports from the router options and then from windows firewall
that's a pretty wide range of cpus still
Does Satisfactory benefit more from higher core count or something more like an X3D chip?
Single core performance is the most important thing for a CPU for Satisfactory
single core high clock rate from what i gathered
x3d prob might help, it's still unreal
Cores means nothing for it
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K, 3200 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)
i9-12900k is sufficient
What clock rate would y'all recommend?
Bruh
1hz
Noice. Im using a 5700x3D
that's quite sad tho honestly, most providers don't have single core performing cpus with high rams aswell
and a price that won't send you in the streets
That's game servers for you
People have sent multiple messages here before specifically explaining why it is the way it is ๐
oh i'll look into it, it's quite intresting
Providers of game servers should absolutely be providing CPUs with strong single cores ๐
i'm just using one of my work server ๐
yeah a 12900k shouldn't have any problems... i blame the devs
hetzner got good servers but not single threaded oriented
When I go AM5, I want me that 7950x3D
hey just a question , im tryna host a server with session ip is it like how you name your server? in session settings?
just wondering.. are these servers till in "experimental?
Nope
no
there are still a few bugs but support is quite good now
An admin names the server through the in-game server manager
Couldn't agree more!
I am running a dockerized server on unRAID and my backend is 10G fiber. I have a fiber connection directly to my PC from my local server. Why am I getting a local server ping of 15-16ms when I can ping my ISP at 1-2ms?
setting up a server is easy.. its the issues that come with running it.. lol.. the crashing and errors.. hopefully they get on top of it. and fix alot of them.
@sturdy gust do you know how good CCX23 would be for sati servers?
idk anything about that cpu honestly
oh i had no crashed till now
From a very quick Google, it has a single-core passmark of 1920
I wouldn't go with it, personally
Not for Satisfactory
mhhh
so, if 1 person stays on the server and plays.. it runs fine. but once there is 2 or more people.. it crashs.. lol.,..
Poor CPU or low RAM allocation I presume
hetzner only options those for dedicated servers near me with good ping
๐ฅน
In the US I assume? ๐ฆ
europe
Then I guess I misunderstood your message ๐
@sturdy gust how do i find the benchmark for all hetzner servers? i don't often use it
Just Google ๐
The 8500t has a single core passmark of 2030 ๐ข
Yep, too low unfortunately
our dedi (docker) uses up to 10 cores and 16 gb spike till 1.0
it can get 12 cores and up to 24gb
work well
geekbench has some benchmarks
See previous messages in this channel around multi-core utilization
what cpu
yeah i'd hope something with a 4k+ single thread rating would be enough
mine actual roter settings differ from guides
considering that's about as high as that score can get rn
My home server has a 5900X which hosts Satisfactory. I know a 3600 can get laggy
uhh i can try and help if u want but can't guarantee much
i throw it just in, i know what it can use ๐ run satis dedi's since they are available ๐
the 1.0 update was soo smooth ๐
I've run Satisfactory servers since before they were available ๐
full game client on server? ^^
What CPU are you using for your server @sturdy gust ?
i run yours. we run 2 multiplayers on our server
As mentioned above, a 5900X
Sorry, missed it
All good!
From helping people, I've found that you generally want a CPU with at least a 3k single-core passmark
hello! how can i update my dedicated server in command line?
That's not to say that passmark is the be all and end all, but it's a fair indicator
Check the pins ๐
cough
btw. @sturdy gust your docker run also on an overclocked RPI5 ... stable for my son in LAN ๐
box64/fex?
Lol you mad man ๐คฃ
linux user ^^ for loooong time
You need 7777/tcp and 7777/udp
let em ask a question first
he did ^ a few lines up
@broken parcel
ah
took a while for screenshots then
did you see the mikrotik port forwarding guide
neat, the original? guide is in polish
Fellow software engineer here, I'm not sure where to report this, but there is an issue with multiplayer servers where deleting doesn't seem to work correctly on the client side. You have to exit the game and rejoin. Then you find that the object is actually deleted correctly. I managed to find the error:
[2024.09.22-17.02.47:578][650]LogNetPackageMap: Warning: UPackageMapClient::InternalLoadObject: Unable to resolve default guid from client: ObjectName: Build_Foundation_8x4_01_C_2147450601, ObjOuter: /Game/FactoryGame/Map/GameLevel01/Persistent_Level.Persistent_Level:PersistentLevel
prob better posted as a bug report on their qa site
thanks for the direction ๐
Does passmark take into account single core boost?
better chance of them seeing it there
score's an average of submitted results, so check the score variation chart
This is a known issue unfortunately
only score 100% applicable to you is running the benchmark yourself
I mean, it's an 8500t after all ha
Hi guys ! I have this exact issue atm : https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/18klzef/issues_with_dedicated_server/
The only thing is that I'm hosting my own dedicated server and we have been playing for couple weeks now and suddenly the server crashed and now the only thing we get is "This server appears to be offline" I restarted the server multiple times and got no specific errors in the log, nothing changed network-wise and we of course use no mods
are blueprints involved
no
double check the network bits
IP address didn't change, ports are still open everywhere, the home router is working fine, what else should I check ?
Could you tell us a little more about your environment? How are you hosting the server? What is your OS? What does your launch command look like? The error you're seeing specifically indicates that port 7777/udp is unreachable
Additionally, could you share your full log file, please?
I'm on windows 11, I'm hosting the server with the Satisfactory dedicated server from steam, witch I execute directly from file since I run the game's client from steam. Ports are open in firewall and router, everything has been working for a little while, the server crashed, I closed the window, reopened it and now we can't connect to it
To be clear, you're hosting the server from the Windows 11 machine, right? Could you also clarify what file you're executing?
server log looks fine
Yes indeed, I'm executing "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SatisfactoryDedicatedServer\FactoryServer.exe"
Thanks, really nice to have someone that actually provides everything haha.
Yeah, so your log does certainly look fine. Are you trying to connect using your local or remote IP? As within your own network, you should be using the local IP
Thank you for helping me,
I'm using both, one on local ip for admin access, and one on external ip as client for client access, the issue with playing as administrator is that when I leave the server it closes the server.
Both "sessions" are showing "This server appears to be offline"
Same for my friends witch are using external ip obviously
Gotcha, yeah I just wanted to verify that local wasn't working either.
Presumably you're connecting using IPv4 addresses, right?
yes
Stop the server, ensure there are no currently running instances in task manager. Backup your server saves (I don't know the location for Windows off the top of my head, but check the wiki in the channel pins).
Go to that directory, and delete your server session .sav file (should be ServerSettings.7777.sav)
Also, assuming you're using ports 7777/udp and 7777/tcp, correct?
Just making sure you're not trying to use old ports somehow
Already backed up !
Great! So delete the server settings save, not the game saves. Should be ServerSettings.7777.sav ๐
Yes I'm using those ports
Deleted
Try spinning the server back up, see what happens
Is it expected that gameplay settings such as creature hostility are not syncing to clients?
Yes, that's by design
high ping souldn't affect the gameplay. This isn't actionpacked FPS..
Yeah, 300ms is higher than I'd like
Still nothing...
Having similar issues with a rented server by Host unlimeted. They claim it's an issue with satisfactory itself
Triple check that the service is allowed through Windows Firewall. I know you've done it before, but just triple check. I'd also reboot to ensure there isn't something funky/Windows related going on
For what it's worth, after helping hundreds of people, this is not a known issue. It's almost definitely environment-related
my friend runs a dedicated server and i usually get around 70-80ms ping even with 7-8 people online and in late game, but last night and tonight the ping has gone to 300+, is there something going on with DS or clients?
Already rebooted, Will triple check now
or is it just me
That'll be related to the server's environment most likely. Check CPU performance, and RAM allocation
most likely none of those, it's on a 32 core epyc
That means nothing
what does then
All inbound and outbound looks fine, I only created the ones with the specific 7777 ports
What CPU is hosting the server? What else is running on the server? How much RAM have you allocated to the game server? How much RAM does the system have total? Etc. etc.
If it was fine, and is possibly now fine, it was most likely that resource utilization spiked
any clue on how to get that up again?
aight let me ask
System resource utilization, check it
Honestly it's been a while since I've hosted a server on Windows, so I don't know the equivalent of using lsof to check if it's actually listening on those ports
Log says one thing, Windows says another etc.
Just trying to brainstorm
I'm pretty sure it isn't anymore
The fact that you're not seeing connection messages in your log is enough of a detail for me
It's certainly an option! I don't think it'll solve your problem honestly. Save is out of the question as you deleted the server session, which drops the save from the config
Didn't work without save file tho...
Looks good enough to me.
Yeah, looks fine
Drop the query port and beacon port params
Unrelated, but they shouldn't be there
What CPU is your server using @cosmic arch?
Reinstalling now
If that doesn't make a difference (make sure to delete and re-add the server in the server manager, navigate to another page in-game and back for the results to refresh), try running this via an admin cmd:
netstat -an | findstr :7777
findstr is a new one to me. Doubt I'll ever use it because it's longer than grep (:
Reinstalling fixed it ๐
Old save is working, just had to setup the server again
Lol, thank ChatGPT for that ๐
I forget what is and isn't available on Windows ๐
any way to profile whats using up most server performance or which grid?
check logspam
SUBSCRIBE
any links by chance?
or you just mean ToggleDebugOverlay?
probably
uhhh Intel Xeon something
have to check that out
cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep model
good to know. thanks!
lscpu
oh yeah
Can some please explain what to do, im clueless rn.
I'm trying to run server on Win 11, got Firewall set up, port forwarding with static ip set up in router settings, but Nmap says that my ports are closed, even when server is running.
Server is working if i'm trying to connect from the same machine.
I'm using wolveix Docker image to run btw, but with EG official dedicated server i have the same issue
my server is on 366202 version how i can update the server ?
the comand ./steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir ~/satisfactory +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit dont work
app_update 1690800 dont work
is that dir where you installed it
steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir ~/home/satisfactory/server +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
my server is on "/home/satisfactory/server"
and satisfactory is the user you're running this under
that's a wholly different path there
wrong path? @tame belfry
Hi! anyone else with this problem when lunching the game it comes to this and thats it?
that's normal
well but the game wont luch after this
Is there a way to set the server to run at higher speed? mining and production speed etc. or everything faster at the same time
The gamespeed isn't limited on CPU speed....
All of a sudden my dedicated server has started crashing on any save.
meaning...
Like there's cheats(trainer) that can increase the speed of everything up to 10x, wondering if it could be applied to the server.
has anyone had issues with random ping spikes that cause lag for players on the server?
increased network quality from medium to high and it didnt help
That really don't belong in this tread.
it's a question about dedicated servers.
a private server, it's not a cheat that could unfairly affect other players like in other games like call of duty etc
I read it as a question about cheating/trainers...
You can activate this, when launching a new game.
But then again where is the fun in that...
yeah, no that's not it, but holding the craft button for hours ain't fun either.
You're not supposed to hold the craft button for hours. You're supposed to automate everything so you don't have to craft anything by hand
but still have to craft a lot by hand to get there
Press space once and crafting continues until you run out of materials.

Hi gamers, i made a server and accidently included a space at the end of my file name so blueprints wont work. How do i change the name of the save file for a server?
for some reason, when i leave my server, it shuts down the server. is there any way around that?
Hey, one question. What exactly are dedicated servers? how do they work and what is the diference between that and a session with friends?
Game instance that usually runs on remote machine and available to everyone who have access at any time (if it is running ofc)
In simple words - your friends doesn't need to wait for you (host) to play
With a dedicated server you can leave the game running so the host doesn't have to be logged in and invite friends to play.
Yes we were running into that issue. It didn't seem to be connected to autosave timing or anything, server hoster used it as an excuse to upgrade his rig and we're smooth sailing now.
dedicated servers have a setting in the server settings tab called auto pause. Uncheck it and you shouldn't have that issue.
ty
I started getting EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000000 out of nowhere and can't load my dedicated server now.
how do i change the direction of a conveyer lift floor hole? i want it to go downwards
Our server has becoming nearly unplayable. The visual glitches are out of control. The material bug isn't the end of the world, but it's annoying to have to relog just to see the right materials on things. Decal rotations don't place the way they're visualized anymore, which is annoying but not awful. The big issue now is that trees will randomly exist when you log in even though they have been removed. They stop being able to be removed after a few minutes as well. So it's just this constant logging-off and logging back on when you need to do tree work. Vehicles also "See" the trees when this happens, so all transportation is screwed.
I love this game, but man am I disappointed in how not fully baked this is after being in Early Access for as long as it has been.
nevermind figured it out
I want to limit all the unnecessary console spam. How can I do that?
what do you need console for then?)
why you even need a server
So many uessless warnings every couple of seconds
just join trough steam
Same here, not sure we are gonna be able to finish the game ๐ฅฒ
Dedicated servers have always been a completely unloved afterthought.
Iโm basically just sitting and waiting to see if they unbreak the blueprints as itโs not worth even trying without them
For the reasons that dedicated servers exist.
I haven't played since dedicated servers were announced and I swear they are less stable now then they were then. ๐
everything is less stable now_)) especially when its not the main game
so this is a bit of an interesting question. Was playing, then had an Unreal Engine crash. I didn't really read the crash report bc it happened right as I killed a spitter creature. Anyway, closed the game and restarted and it seems the server brought me on as a new player, but still with my progress. Like, I had my dimensional depot available, but none of my personal inventory. Any guesses as to how to get it back?
Itโs to be expected. They only even bother to fix popular bugs. Their approach to stability is pure how many people it affects. ded servers are seen as a niche afterthought
If you didnโt respawn first youโre sol
couldn't respawn bc the game crashed
i didn't "die". as far as the game knows, i went offline
an odd one for sure lol
I'm getting a warning about FNetGUIDCache LightweightCollisionComponent NOT Supported, anyone know what's causing that? Makes the server lag when the error happens and just happens when someone moves around
Seems to be specifically when a player slides
sorry for ping again but it happens when i leave my server even if my friends are still logged in. is autopause still the only fix for it?
Is this a dedicated server or you clicking continue in the main menu
I am successfully hosting a dedicated server off my machine, but when I disconnect from the game the server goes down. I have to restart the dedicated server for anyone to be able to rejoin.
Any ideas what causes this? I have the auto pause option disabled
I've been using host havoc with no issue or crashes
I've been running it on a VM with no issues so far too. ๐ค
Known issue that happens when you're hosting the server on the same machine your client is on iirc
ah damn
ty
Try using docker, might somehow fix it
A bit more advanced to set up but the wiki should cover it
okok I will
hey all, was wondering how do multiplayer servers work exactly? Can a bunch of players all play on their own and do their own thing or is it necessary for progression that everyone on the server work together?
You start a game which more players can join the same game. All participate in the same game.
Progression is shared
So you cant really do your own thing
Would be nice if you can form teams/groups for separate progression though
I installed my first Dedicated server 10 days ago. Had zero stops or crashes since then.
Running on a AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics dedicated Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Portainer with container from @sturdy gust...
If there was something wrong with dedicated servers, then all servers should have the same problems.
dedicated server keeps resetting network quality to medium. anybody have this issue? work arounds?
Wiki has a section on configuration files that should show you how to do it
Could also try the ini flag
Otherwise enable the auto pause until fixed.
it was happening either way.
Oh really? I thought only when it kept running without pause. Thanks for letting me know.
Did it work for you using docker?
guys... blueprints.. they don't work?
"[2024.09.23-03.12.44:108][542]LogFactoryBlueprint: Warning: Failed To Write 6 Smelters Blueprint to Disk!"
Do I have to set a target location in the server or something?
dedicated server
running on my computer
ah that was my issue as well
Anyone know if there's any API Endpoints in vanilla that will allow me to pull data from things like the depot, container etc. E.G 192.168.1.1/api/depot
Self-signed server SSL bs as usual
bs? you got a better idea
the wiki isn't the issue
The API doc makes it very clear what to do, it working on another hand is entirely a different story
The fact that the endpoints are not cohesive whatsoever is an issue
With it being 1.0 just put out though I get there's a lot of stuff that needs to be refined
sure, but you're pointing at the self signed cert being bs?
and servers are probably on the backbone
that's how i'm reading it
Do you not agree that though it's not a really a replaceable option, it's still BS and causes consistent auth issues?
Factual not complaining :3
you're not making much sense
Then you need to brush up on your english.
Same experience here, dedicated server has been running flawlessly. I've been using them since they released, so definitely experienced the early bugs, but it's really good now.
skill issue
how stable are trucks? or should i just build a train line?
So, no detail of endpoints on the wiki OR docs in files; what's your suggestion now
How do i import a blueprint file to a dedicated server?
So 192.168.1.1/api/??
if you have the game installed, there's also a copy/more complete version of that doc in your game files
Go on that wiki, and tell me which one it is.
I just told you I read through both, including the game files.
There's no mention of endpoints
by pure unwittled LUCK i decided to try ip/api/v1 and that WORKED as an endpoint, there is NO documentation of this anywhere
it's rest?
I'm aware of that
You can still get the data from an endpoint
which quite clearly exists, but isn't mentioned anywhere
Here's my example of using ip/api/v1
It gives the general gamestate data
Why isn't this endpoint listed anywhere ๐คฃ
name checks out
fair, it could be more detailed
This is what I was talking about, they've "introduced" an accessible API system and filled the wiki with the strings and data but no way to access them ๐คฃ
I got lucky
So for future reference
192.168.1.1(IP)/api/v1 - This works to pull from, given you've also done server.GenerateAPIToken and put your bearer token in whatever script you're running also
It'd be super great if we got a list of other API's accessible though to see what other data can be pulled
any reason the dedicated server would kick me, then when i go to rejoin there are now to of me? im the only person on the server
@eager reef Can you kill yourself and take the loot?
I would just restart though lowkey
as in restart the server?
Sometimes it bugs out and doesn't remove your player entity, kicks you but doesn't register that it has, so your "phantom" kinda remains there
i can, was just curious what could cause it.
ahhh, ok
There's also a million different reasons currently as to why it could happen but that's probably the most reasonable one ๐คฃ
L O L. I killed my old self, then went to revive it, cause...why not, then it slumped and slid down the blender, then spun up like a helicopter and flew off like a bayblade LOL
Has anyone had success setting up a dedicated server with playit.gg?
I'm able to connect to the server but my friends get timed out while joining.
I get high ping pretty often on a dedicated server. Anything I can do to fix this? Its rly anoying
where would i find this file ServerSettings.PORT.sav, (e.g. ServerSettings.7777.sav)
Are you hosting? Where is it located if not
If you're hosting try increasing this: #
Its a Nitrado Server, hosted in Frankfurt (closes location to me)
Should it be high or low?
If it's a hosted dedi
Put ultra
If your FPS gets affected, knock it down to high/medium
I mean apart from ask Nitrado for a possible bandwidth increase, or optimize your own performance; not really.
What's your ping rn?
Normal Ping is 25, but it goes up to 300-3000 into server Crash
Oh damn
Best to ask Nitrado and see what they say
That's what you're paying them for anyway
Already did, but I kinda wanna play the game, so I thought maybe I am missing smt
They take some time to answere
Maybe something's up with cpu usage on the machine or network instability
Cpu is perma 75%+
what the think u put in the .bat file for the new Console
How do I restart the game on a hosted server to apply changes?
in the sver manger u can type exit or just close it and re open it
Hm that just resets the change...
my settings save that way
You can use your own certificate too. Either way worked for me.
is there a fix or work-around for the reappearing tree/foliage bug? im asking here because it happening on a dedicated server and it might be related? ๐
also is there a work-around know for the option to keep the server running even if no players are connected? i have to re-enable it daily after the server restarts. For some reason the restart resets the option.
im running the server on a private machine on my local network. its installed as a service via nssm.
hi guys, i wan't to change my dedicated server to one that's more suitable to satisfactory
does anyone have an advice on european providers with good single core performing cpus?
host your own. honestly its what i do. server hosts are using the same buggy dedicated server software as the rest of us.
You can either host your own or i reccomend Indifferent Broccoli. Always worked for me
Any fix for 100% cpu usage on one core even when server is idle with no players? I7 14600k cpu on debian linux
i can't honestly, i need my pc for other stuff and i want the server to be on 24/7
well then what Andreas said, Indifferent Broccoli are nice. I been with them before on other game servers. Good servers and nice customer service.
Server jsut randomly stopped working. Can anyone help?
what's the error?
Just does this now. Worked fine for a week. Turned it off then back on and it just hangs here forever.
and appears offline right?
Yes
can you send log file?
damn ๐
have you checked if it's actually satisfactory taking those resources?
and if u shut down the server it goes back to normal?
yes
is the server working fine when you are in it?
and is the machine it's hosted still usable alright?
i meannnn "don't question how it works just let it work" would be sufficient for me in this case ๐
yeah well it's making my computer run hotter and use more watts for no apparent reason
am i the only one with this issue?
it is odd tbh with you, it looks like it's drawing all the resources in case it needs them instead of taking them when it needs them
doesn't happen to me
have you modified the engine.ini?
yes actually
what have you edited?
tbf you did increase all values ๐
Where do I find it?
try it with standard values just for the sake of it and see if it fixes it
[Server Folder]>FactoryGame>Saved>Logs, and send the latest one
How can I download a game save for a server?
you need to download a game save from the server or use a game save for a server?
Restarting it like 2 more times magically fixed it. idk how that works
But thanks for offering to help :)
Hey, im running into a Problem Joining my Server the client says Version mismatch, i tried updating it using this command steamcmd +force_install_dir SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/ +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit in the console it looks like this command does something but i it changes nothing.... im starting my server with the FactoryServer.sh file... can someone help me please?
most of it will get overwritten by the network quality
look into scalability.ini (if its empty you can fill it, there is a post on this discord with the values)
#dedicated-servers message
backup the save file and re-install the server in another folder
easiest fix so far
do i have to do this with every update that comes? i have 4 Servers running on my machine....
it was the only fix i found and i read around in this channel aswell
hopefully they make something to push an actual update
you have to update it with the same command you installed it
into that same folder
as you can red in my first message i have already done this
if you used custom path you also have to update with the custom path included
then it should update the server, shouldnt have to put it into new folder every time
also make sure you have validate parameter
should probably try full path
or when installing just dont do any path and save yourself some trouble
it will be in steamcmd folder steamapps/common
usually when people have this issue
they got the update into a new folder
so it didnt update the server you are starting
for me it wasn't actually updating it even when i put the correct path and parameters
Anyone have like 30 seconds to help me check if my port forwarding is working
check it online
just plug in your ip and port u need to check
i sent it in your dms
do you mind sending me the link in DMS
Anyone experienced problems with deleting or recoloring things like foundations on servers? I can't delete a foundation. However, if I reconnect to the server the foundation is gone.
i don't have issues with deleting, just when coloring really fast, sometimes things don't color and i can't color them anymore unless i remove them and put them in again
I was a bit unspecific regarding coloring. I meant changing from normal Ficsit foundation to concrete.
Does logging out and in again help for you?
no i just remove them and put them back
ohh
no i don't have issues with that tbh
Yes, its a known problem. Somekind of desync that visual and some sort of collision stays on client but is dismantled correctly on server side.
I only have problems with some of the foundations.
Okay, thanks.. hopefully it will be fixed ๐
For me ith happens with ramps, more often if the ramp is "old" in game time, and try dismantle it
Is "restarting the server" a thing in this game? I know some games struggle the longer the server is running
IDK, but by default it has restart every 24h ?
the server has a built in restart every 24hrs, the time at which this is performed is set in the server manager with a slider called 'restart interval' ... which is not an interval but a 24hr clock, so the time of the day it should restart.... every day.
hi! am i the only one who's unable to both host a dedicated server via steamcmd and join that game on the same machine? or is this a known thing?
steamcmd should be hosting the server via the anonymous account right? so my satisfactory copy should be free to use
whoa my ip is in there
๐ was it your public ip? I was thinking it might still be firewall
it shouldn't be firewall, no - i specifically went through the process of adding exceptions
other people can connect to my game just fine, including people in the same household (not my household)
wish factoryserver would have --help switch :<
it's true
i've used my steam deck to host many a dedicated server before, so i was planning to do that to at least host the server on a separate device, but it looks like getting steamcmd onto the deck is impossible (or at least not easily done) so that plan's in the fryer
btw.... are you using linux, since you said steamcmd (idk if that's for windows too...) Anyway, does netstat -tnlup show which address the factoryserver binds to? 0.0.0.0? Try connecting to 127.0.0.1
i'm running the steamcmd server on windows
looks like l and u flags don't exist for netstat on windows
u is for udp, but doesn't matter. For me it binds to 0.0.0.0 which means all addresses. 127.0.0.1 is loopback interface
from your machine to your machine
Use LAN or loopback address
oh shit i forgot i set a password - how do i set that when joining on the client
Unless your router specifically supports NAT reflection properly, using your WAN/public IP will cause issues
There should be a management tab
for the record that did give me a different result than trying my machine ip:7777 and public ip:7777, but i swear i tried 127.0.0.1 before already
can have it pre-setup by using docker if you want
is there a convenient way to have a domain name I own to link to the server instead
I feel quite stupid
judging by how localhost isn't a valid ip input due to having alphas, i don't think so currently?
i had the same question when setting mine up
I own satisfactory.[country] would be a shame not to use it
Make a CNAME record for the domain or a hostname to some dyndns address. I assume you don't have a static ip ๐
going to give that a try
separate question, theres a known issue right now of the server being unaccessible once it goes from empty -> populated -> empty right?
first get a dyndns name for yourself from one of number of services (some routers support this, so you don't have to run client on your computer)
and then you have to set the record from your nameservers, such as cloudflare (free dns hosting)
I have a static Ip so I dont think id need a dyndns
A record
point the A record with the host as your alpha domain, and the answer as your static ip
Super, I will try get that done, i assume it takes some time for it to reflect
I'm seeing reports for this on reddit so I assume it's still an active bug
24 hours ๐ญ
doesn't take that long
docker makes hosting so easy
Some users appear to be impacted in a way that you describe, there is a sub thread here you may verify if you experience the same, there is no known fix - https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1283191576641798144
darn, okay
Is there any way to remove the certificate message?
Any advice my friend is sat on the server Right now and i can connect to other servers for the game just fine
can I increase the restart cadence? like to every 12hrs instead of 24?
It looks like you clicked into the window and made it stop that way. Just focus the window again and press any key.
I tried that. Didn't fix it. But it thankfully is working again now. :)
have you connected to it before?
Does anyone know the reason why I cannot find the dedicated server (hosted on the same machine as my client) using internet IP?
a few details are missing, but if i were to guess...
your hosting the server at home/inside your network, maybe on a seperate machine, maybe the same.
your friends are using your public ip/dns to connect OK, you are also attempting to use your public IP/DNs to connect... but your router does not support NAT reflection/Hairpin/loopback...
try using your internal IP to connect.
message above applies to you also.
the 'reason why' - your router does not support (or have enabled).. NAT reflection (also known as NAT-Hairpin or NAT-loopback)
thats a router config problem, google > nat reflection
NO its just set up
its very common for ISP provided routers to not support NAT Reflection.
its my brothers server he is using a server hosting program he has rented running linux so connecting is like connecting to a dedicated server not on my local network
no, its hard coded to restart every 24hrs, the only thing you can adjust is the time of day that it performs this action (in server manager, with the label 'restart interval' - note its not an interval, its a 24hr clock)
if its hosted outside your network by someone else, and its working for other users OK
then it must be an issue your end... double check your using the server manager to add the server, and double check the address is correct.
might be worth checking if the person hosting the server has setup whitelist firewall rules, maybe they need to add your IP to allow.
Does it use the local machine time or UTC?
at first it was thought it was UTC.. but others here have suggested that it matches their timezone... so long as the servers timezone is correctly setup to the timezone your in.
dumb question that probably was asked 1000 times but do you need a GPU to host?
If they're hosting it themselves on a linux distribution, make sure the firewall is port 7777 allowed for both TCP and UDP
And make sure the satisfactory server is listening to port 7777
I have created a server on my home Computer 1, I can use my internal IP to connect from my home Computer 2. I have added the port 7777 in the Windows Advanced FW on both Incoming & Outgoing ports and I have added port 7777, 15000, 15777 on port forwarding to Computer 1 on my Router app also. My friend who is trying to connect through my external IP only get's "The Server Appears to be offline" What can I try next?
Do you need UDP also?
Yes UDP is required
Satisfactory currently only uses port 7777
So you can remove the other port forwards
they connect just fine not issues and its hosted by a company that hosts servers so they are also remote connecting to it with no issues
So the issue is just you connecting to their server?
No GPU needed. Running in a Docker container and GPU isn't connected.
I added a 7777 rule to UDP also and it still shows the same
Any other good tips for this?
oh cool thanks
You should join through Server Manager and not through Join Game right?
Yes
That's what I'm doing also. Do I need to restart stuff after I open ports? Should not be necessary right. What could be tried after I've tried all of the port openings on both TCP & UDP?
you can try going to https your external ip address :7777 in the web browser to see if your TCP port is forwarded correctly. you should see a certificate warning (unless you installed a certificate yourself) and if you continue you should see an unreal error message: errors.com.epicgames.httpserver.route_handler_not_found
... thank the stars the mod bot didn't nuke that again =_=
oh and you can ask your friend to try the same
I haven't installed any certificate of any kind
Has anyone asked/answered about running dedicated through a nssm service, where on sleep/resume of the host Windows machine the server is reported as โrunningโ from nssm cli but โofflineโ in the Satisfactory server management area (until issuing a nssm restart service command)?
you should still be able to access that endpoint
Yeah, I thought so also. I hosted regularly for us now. Will try the other way later tonight when we have played for too many hours!
Hello everyone,
I have a server hosted on my OVH infrastructure. It works very well but my server crashes when any player quits, I have to restart it and we can play again.
You've already seen this problem... help pls
never seen this problem. But sounds like too less ram or a weak cpu
i have 32Gb ram and 8 cores of CPU...
Quick quesiton: Linux + Steam, where are the server's saved files? I'm not finding them here ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/FactoryGame/Saved
kvm sorry
Looks like I can just download it separately and bypass the question entirely
never used Proxmox on Windows, but your issue is on your side. Works fine with linux
but i will never understand that you host proxmox on windows in a vm, and you craete vms in Proxmos
no ! my satisfactory server is on a W10 virtualized by a Proxmox on my OVH server
lol? Use linux ๐
thanks for the help @steel osprey .....
and use docker in a kvm
๐
@sage ore My experience with the server is, it's quite stable. Maybe it's a bug related to windows version of it?
You could try running it using wsl, no?
or if that's available
why host a server in windows ๐ useless ๐
because they want?
because useless?
and because have nothing to do with the satisfactory server?
so offtopic here?
what does make linux so much better? Windows might be easier to set up for someone, for instance. Or they might be running services that are more available for windows? Idk. But it's their choice. You don't know their reasons either.
Like described here? - (no fix yet... although most users reporting this issue appear to be running windows based servers... so 1 workaround may be to use linux instead)
https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1283191576641798144
when i have a Linux VM and host proxmox; so why i host a Win 10 ( and not Windows Server) in a VM? ๐
useless
because he was able to setup Proxmos.
Linux is faster than WIndows in hosting Dedicated servers
just simple
im happy not everyone is as arrogant as you are ๐ It would make life more of a pain than it already is.
that last one may be off-topic and should have kept my trap shut, but i just felt like saying it out loud.
That's not arrogant; that's the truth. and 98% here confuse this channel with a help channel for โhow to set up my server properlyโ; which has nothing to do with the Satisfactory server.
It's getting so annoying that everyone expects help with things that have nothing to do with the dedicated server of Satisfactory
There is a running Docker Container; there are working eggs for Ptero and Pelican. And for Windows they can use WindowsGSM. Also setting up the server with steamcmd is also no magic.
But setting up Proxmox on linux and host a Win10 VM in it, toi host a Satisfactory server is brainless and its absolut offtopic here. Sry; just my 2 cents
maybe the more direct question is, "Does the SatisfactoryDedicatedServer normally fail when the host OS enters a suspended state?" (#dedicated-servers message)
Why the Hostserver should do this? A VM runs 24/7
not a VM, a bare metal host.
still 24/7 online. Never see any server which goes into suspended state.
Mine. Mine does. Mine goes to sleep. I do not keep it on 24/7.
Then the best place to ask, is your Hoster. Offtopic here. Not a problem with the dedicated server
90% of what is talked about here is helping people get their server up and running for the first time. And general questions about it.
or do you host @home?
the original question is explicitly about the behaviour of the dedicated server, regardless of hosting method
no; 95% are questions about;L "help me to setup a server, because i dont know, what i'm doing"
see what i wrote: There are enough "Noob" Apps, to help setup the server for everyone
if it is not online 24/7, then shutdown the service before suspending the server, then start the dedicated server again when you resume the server.
most servers do not go to sleep, going to sleep will cause the dedicated server to loose its network connections, and is unable to recover from it.
it seems you would be the first person to report this type of behaviour so there is no known workarounds other than keeping it online 24/7 or be sure to stop the dedicated server before sleeping, and starting it again after it wakes.
You said that your host server goes into a suspended mode; not the Satisfactory server
I would assume while asleep the server will not be running. I would also bet that it will need to be restarted when the host is wakes up.
thank you, that was my assumption but I couldn't see anything related in the wiki for suspend mode support
sleeping a server is not recommended for this type of game, the dedicated server was designed to be run 24/7
Trying to run my server has been BRUTAL.
Using playit.gg to generate a sharedIP for the server.
I can join it.
My friends can add the server and see it online but are unable to join due to connection timed out.
Anyone had this and been able to get around it?
Homehosting?
if yes; fix your network
playit.gg isa for homehosters and it looks like, you didnt setup your network correkt.
offtopic here
you should check out default gateway from ipconfig in windows or ip route show in linux. Head there with your web browser, log in to your router and set up port forwarding and static ip dhcp for your server
so git good before asking for help? ๐
lmao ok
i was being sarcastic. I'm not a mod, and I don't dictate what is ot and what is not. But I'm glad to help if I can, and not whine about having to read other people's problems.
Im using playit gg because starlink routers do not support port forwarding but kk thx
Have them check the ms. The default timeout is like 30ms. You can up that value if that is the only issue.
Ty! MS is probably high.
I'll google around for where to change that setting, do you happen to know off the top of your head tho?
Confirmed, his ms is 80
then its not really the place here to ask for help
have nothing to do with the Satisfactory dedicated server
i bet starlink support can help; they get a lot of money from you
And if you can join and not your mate, then its a problem in your home network
lmfao dude you're giving discord mod energy.
How dare i come to a satisfactory discord with an issue getting people connected to my dedicated server and ask for help.
This goover guy needs to get lost
does playit.gg limit anything such as connectivity speeds, ive heard of it but never used it.
but your question is absolutly offtopic. Fix your network ๐
not a problem with the server
Only thing he's done so far is tell people they're in the wrong place to ask
And talk about how the dedicated servers have absolutely no problems with them
they are. All questioon have nothing to do with the DEDICATED SERVER form satisfactory
Dude take a long walk off a short pier
i host a lot and non have problems ๐
Hello. I see massive fps drops when riding the hypertube (or flying after taking an hypertube cannon) towards my main base. I have a quite large base, so my guess is maybe there's trouble when loading all the assets in this area (probably a different chunk of the world, too ?) : fast travel = lots of assets to load in a short period of time, probably.
I'm having trouble figuring out if it's a server or client related issue (since it's graphical assets, I would guess the dedicated server doesn't have much to handle in this particular case ? idk)
Are there known issues (and hopefully solutions) to this ? Is this a common issue ? I have done a search, both online and this very discord server, and most of the time it's people having slow Internet or low-end hardware on their server, which is not my case.
I was running my dedicated server from my laptop, playing on my main PC. I went on a trip, playing on my laptop, then when I got home, trying to load the save on the dedicated server crashes, every time, giving the error in the picture. I can run it fine in client, but not on the dedicated. (No Mods or anything) D:
Any ideas what the cause could be?
also @distant linden - does playit.gg allow you to specify UDP/TCP and both?, because if so you need both.
So far I haven't had any problems like before. It actually works. But I've started again.
What does your host system look like? RAM? CPU?
It does. Its currently setup for both yes.
hmm
any information on a fix for the server going offline when certain players disconnect?
I can also hit the hosted IP and get a response
u can see them attempting to connect on the servers console?
I can yes
They timeout after 60s though
20-24 Gb are given to the Docker container
I'm not too sure how latency sensitive Satisfactory is, i understand your using Starlink where latency can be all over the place.
perhaps u can try something different, such as ngrok (not totally free) or radmin.
you can also use a VPN provider, such as AirVPN which support port forwarding @distant linden
ok, should be enough. Is this a new Factory or an old save?
yeah this is quite a beast of a machine, or should be. New save
Appreciate it ty.
I've got nord I can mess with that to port forward.
Worst case we can try swapping to him hosting and see if its a starlink issue.
we have long belts across the map. I wondered if this, too, couldn't cause issues since we have had occurrences of items being invisible on some of the longest ones
worth doing stuff to just rule out issues, for sure. yw
thanks, and unfortunate.
if you have the RAM spare, you could try with this additional command line argument when launching the game
-ini:Engine:[ConsoleVariables]:wp.Runtime.EnableServerStreaming=0
it disables streaming the world into ram, so will use less ram when set to 1 and use more ram when set to 0.
it might help for your use case.
@dusty vortex on the server or client ?
This issue from my own understanding is related to blueprints. Sometimes clearing the BP Designer when there are belts or lifts in can cause a server crash. Other things are if BP's have been placed in the world.
You can use a site such as https://satisfactory-calculator.com/ to edit your save file and delete any blueprinted builds in an attempt to restore your save.
Server
server side, when launching the server from the command line.
Sorry one other question. It seems weird that hes getting booted after 60s when I've set my engine.ini file to allow for 3 minutes.
Does client side need to change this file as well?
can't this be set in Engine.ini or something ? This is a docker container, so I would have to mess with the compose to alter the command line
Yes most likely.
Oh dang, we did have an issue with some blueprint builds, Do we have to delete all blueprinted builds? or is there a way to pick specific ones? we've used a lot of blueprints
it'll most likely be the latest one that was placed down, if u know which one that is u can try to remove only that.
hopful they fix it proper soon, because a few of my builds crash the server if i delete a belt lol.
so you aint alone ๐ฆ
Okay, thank you!
Do you know where exactly I'm looking for this save editor?
go to the Interactive Map, and on the right is a click/drop your save file here.
yes it can be set in the .ini file also.
which worked fine for me in U8, but did not seem to do much with 1.0, i added it to my launch command instead and it seemed to work for me.
but in short either approach should work, if 1 does not, try the other
Yeah this has been a huge issue for us, but weirldy only the player using the steam deck has had the issue with his blueprints, lol,
Ty!!
np, backup ur save first
thanks for the tip, will try that, can't hurt anyway
yes
the way I'm reading the variable name, 1 should stream to the ram so more ram usage ?
it's currently enabled
only 7 Gb ram used atm. Don't think it's an issue
no.
ENABLE server streaming = 0 == do not stream content from disk to ram, load it all into ram (so uses more ram)
But the problem with belts should be fixed in last patch
I'll see how it behaves on the long run, but it seems to have notably improved things (and I mean notably)
thanks a lot, mate
No, they were not fixed completely. annoyingly.
On satisfactory.wiki.gg there is a page for configuration files that should help you raise the timeout ms. If you have not already found the answer.
Hello there, are someone using the Linux version of the server by any chance?
Plenty are
many do, I'm one as well
what was the command?
I think we have already checked the streaming to be 0 by default
@regal marsh
yeah thats 0 by default
I got an immediate crash after creating a new party or loading one. It run on a 32mb server
Maybe make it 1 I guess
32mb is not enough for a server
never changed it
Nothing really interesting in the log itself
32mb??? Also party??
Gb sorry
I'm going to assume that's a typo and you meant 32GB,
no, its not, in U8 it was default to 0, in 1.0 its default is 1.
but its 0 and also with other guy we checked when someone brought this up few days ago
So every time you load a save or create a new one the server crashes?
Yes
There's always something interesting in the logs. Do you have the console output as well? That can tell use where in the process it's stopping.
so why then without this does the server cap out around 4gb of ram, and then when this is set, my server ram usage increases.
try it your self and see.
I will look at them and keep you informed
What exactly does the log say. It should tell you the reason it crashed.
Mine is using defaults here and runs around 8GB on a fairly clean world.
my ram is like 8gb usage when I start server
then later settles to 4/5
cant try now
we're working on nuclear and it's barely reserved 6.9gb
yes
Current usage for the Docker container running my server.
perhaps some additional logic decides if its enabled or not, or the settings changed since a patch, i dunno. ๐คท
in either case, when folks have tried using/setting it, folks had noticed a difference.
73% cpu is a bit high. How many cores?
8 cores, when everyone is on it's regularly over 130% running at 30ticks/sec
100% is 1 core normally
yup, it goes to 800% since there are 8 cores
800%? Really never saw that. not more than 200%
How much ram does your server have?
