Still not getting yesterday's update for the server. Anyone find a fix? Have been running .\steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir C:\GameServers\SatisfactoryServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit with no success. Just keeps validating as the last version. Never got the update.

I have tried to create a simple blueprint with just splitters and constuctors. Named it "d.1-8". When I pressed saved, I got the client crashed. And each time I tried to connect again it crashed. I removed the .sbp and .sbpcfg files both on server and client and was able to reconnect. Hovever, I connected as a new player and I can see "my old player" sitting offline. Ho can I at least reconnect as my old player?

Heya, quick question. Me and my friend are having the same version mismatch issue as many others here seemed to have. As i was reading through, the popular solution seemed to be deleting the server install and rerun steamCMD. Just wanted to make sure this is safe to do and no progression is lost?
seems a common issue, delete the dedicated server folder, download form scratch.
make sure you have correct path in this parameter if you use custom folder
+force_install_dir "C:\Game Servers\Satisfactory Server"
and make sure you have "validate" parameter
then it must update ๐
saves are stored in a folder outside of the server folder

the only thing i could think of,
copy your most recent save.
kill the savegame folder of the server.
set it up again with claiming it and upload your savegame
to have it as "fresh" as possible
or clean up the configs as well

Hi, i have a dedicated server rented and its running and i can connect to it normally. But my friend cant since yesterday. We dont understand why. Its just not showing in his server manager ingame anymore. Does anyone know what we need to do? Edit, he could connect for a few days just fine.
I would double check and make sure that both you, the server, and you're friend are on the same version of the game. There was a recent hotfix that might be messing with that.

you won't need to open a port, you're understanding is correct that the point of tailscale is to not have to open ports
Taliscale use a broker service in the middle that helps build the connection using outbound UDP connection tricks. it's a cleaver way to keep from having to open ports.

Razr, i'm not sure that letsencrypt works. I have letsencrypt certs on my server and satisfactory didn't trust them at the release of 1.0. maybe they've added the root cert for letsencrypt in one of the hotfixes.

if you're using the join game menu option that doesn't work right now. The current way to get in is to add it to the server manager section. having proper certs there will keep it from bugging about certs being unknown and what not.

I haven't had that, but it's essentially the same kind of desync that happens when you delete stuff and it's still visible after.
also check if you are both on the same version.

Restarting the server makes whatever was placed render but then trying to place another one does the same thing

Your paying for a service, so raise a ticket with them and let them earn their keep.
It prob requires some involvement from them to change ports or firewall.
They may even have your friends up caught in a blacklist so best to check with them.

You said you/your friends are using server manage, but it's not working as desired.

i fixed it...... on nitrado if you copy the ip there is the port in it like its :10000 on the end of the ip adress, if i just delete that it works -.- first time using a server so probatly just me being stupid

Essentially, if you setup a server, the machine running the server (it seems like this is your PC) will still have to be on. You are not offloading your server to some service like Steam or the cloud with this.
If you don't want either of your computers to be turned on all the time, you will need to buy a server.
Installing the game is FAR from the complicated things you face next if you choose to continue.
At least checkout some videos about how to use steamCMD, and then follow up with learning networking, this will help you greatly with understanding things so you know better what your doing and why.
That will get you to the point (hopefully) that you can then start playing

If auto-restart is setup correctly (either using the docker config, or with a systemd service and restart setup), and you have admin priviledges, you can type "quit" in the console. This will shutdown the server and (hopefully) restart it in a few mins with the newest update

here its sticking to a rock i already exploded, then after i rejoin it is down on the ground

If you do not repeat this step before updating, you're installation will not update, and will redownload the server to the default steamapps/common folder. And will not update...
You have to run this command before [login anonymous]. (it will let you know if you try after login)

I don't think the console is that powerful currently. It's really there to set settings while the server is running, at least what I've found. I don't think there are any administrative functions from a player perspective.
Admin has no power over shit actually. Like, console commands are absolutely baffling. And there are no mods since 1.0

Kidding aside, go check the dedicated server wiki entry. It has the list of stuff, but itโs not 1.0 verified current and everything Iโve tried so far doesnโt work now.
As a mod author (for other games, not this one) I would say give the mod authors time. They didn't get a preview of 1.0, so all mods have to basically start over and learn the new way of doing things in 1.0 (for whatever their particular mod was for).
There are tons of ini settings in files, some you can set in console, some not so much.
And no sadly, for added realism, please remember that all FICSIT employees are subject to periods of slight discomfort. it's a factory.. accidents happen. Refer to the safety guidelines inside of the HUB, and celebrate non-zero days without accidents.

while its possible to run on the same machine as you play on - that is highly not recommended and causes additional issues you might need to resolve (yet is possible)... its recommended to use a seperate machine if you have one available. ๐

dedicated server is designed to run 24/7... hence why a seperate machine is recommended (unless you want to keep your machine online 24.7 and handle/troubleshoot some of the extra issues of running on the same machine you play)

Suddenly, a conveyor belt does not fit into the entries, and when we try to delete the conveyors or the blueprint, the entire server crashes. So i put up a server with a friend of mine which is currently running the hostvserver on linux (running the server with ubuntu/steamcmd/proxmox). I am running my game over Epic games and everything was going well until the patch of today. The version of my game and the version of the server arent the same And even though i tried to update my server with the steps in the wikis and fandoms i found it doesnt work.
I cant update the server the right way i tried every reasonable step such as:
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit and eve steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit even though the server was set up with following line:
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit
I kindly ask for your help even if a cant reply anymore because ill have to work tomorrow so i wont be able to stay up more than 1hour from now on

It shouldn't overwrite your saves at all. Those are stored in a different location. If you want to be safe, make a copy of the save games folder and try it after.

You should try and avoid the experimental branches unless you absolutely need a fix that's in them or you are willing to accept that it may not be stable.
what i did was shutdown server with ctrl+c and then just run this code steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
then i waited for it to finish and after that started the server with the normal ./FactoryServer.sh

Your save game files are separate from the factory server files. I also had an issue updating the server with Steamcmd and instead of app_update, I re-ran the force_install_dir. If you are running public 1.0, REMOVE the -beta switch.
The force_install_dir will re-download the game and re-install. Worked for me when the app_update didn't

i think you need to make a ticket at your hosting company and explain the problem.
Server stops accepting connection after you join and leave it. Need a restart everytime until it gets fixed.

if you want to serve on e. g. TCP/7777 and UDP/7777 (which is the default), you can use -Port=7777 as your commandline arument when starting the server

Hello! I keep getting the "Unhandled Exception: SIGSEGV: invalid attempt to read memory at address" error since updating the server earlier this week. I can play on the server for a bit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for only 5 minutes, then it goes offline. Is anyone else currently encountering this?

My server is saying that my server is restarting in 10 minutes. I didn't schedule a restart nor did I send this message to it.

My last ditch effort to get my dedicated server to work. Server is running, TCP/UDP 7777 is open both firewall and router. I'm able to connect via local ip via server manager. No password set for the server. Problem: nobody externally can connect to the server, just times out for them. I've netstat to confirm listening on 7777. I've done everything I can think of, it should be working but its not. What am I missing?
Our server keeps crashing because of a belt issue.
We downloaded the save, edited in scim to remove dodgy machines and re uploaded- save kept corrupting and defaulting to a back up.
Patch got released and still the same issue.
The crash on the server causes steam to break and then an entire system restart is required im told. how can we fix this?
@potent warren if it work locally, then it's probably not "open" and forwarded properly on your router
I've ran plenty of game servers in the past without any issues with port forwarding. I can't do it any different then I have been doing. Really only one way to open a port in my router.

since your error is addrinuse, that allows binding to addresses even if they're not free. it wont make it work if it's really in use, but if it's a timing issue, it might

Testing out making a Satisfactory dedicated server and it always gets stuck on LogServer: Display: Server startup time elapsed and saving/level loading is done, auto-pause is allowed to proceed from now on (if enabled in server settings). 0.0.0.0 = any/all adapters, but if you have multiple gateways for example.. good luck getting windows to consistently respond to the right gateway
so on windows I cant leave without the server dropping its socket and on linux I cant even get it to listen to the socket

Yeah still getting hung on the LogServer: Display line. Going to wait a few minutes if anything changes but usually it doesn't move from here.

Its not hanging there, there is nothing else for it to do so its waiting for connections

my auto pause keeps turning on.. I want my factory to run all the time even when im not there.. this is the 3rd time now its turned itself on.. it seams like every update it does it.. this is frustrating as I was away for 2 days and hoping I would have more parts made for when I wanted to play .. im running a dedicated server on linux ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS. i had the server running fine for a few days until there was an update yesterday. i ran the steamcmd command to update my server, it says its up to date, but when i try to connect it says the client is a different version than the server

no idea why steamcmd isnt updating, i had the same, deleted the game and reinstalled, and it worked

ex your servers local ip is 192.168.0.231 but when you google what's my ip it says 133.22.31.122 try adding the ip you get from what's my ip.
if you can connect that way 9/10 times your config is good.
apparently that was always suggested.. ahwell.. lol another way is to use your phone on mobile data and type in https:// <ip>:<port> which should give you an invalid cert warning.
hi i have been trying to set up a dedicated server on windows with steam cmd, i have done the portforwading for tcp and udp to 7777 and am able to connect to it locally but when friends try to join it just says "could not connect to the server, failed to connect to the server api", anyone got any suggestions?

then you might not be passing both tcp and udp. you can check www.canyouseeme.org to see or try to access the server with https:// <yourip>:<port> on your mobile phone while on data.

yep that was it, i was changed an old port forward i had done for the tcp but forgot to actually change what port was forwarded lmao
i have a problem with my satisfactory server when I try to connect to it it works fine but when my friends want to connect it says something like "failed to connect to server API" does anyone know how I can fix that?
I'm running on 2022, no issues aside from random lag spikes.
that message usually comes up when they can't "reach" the server like it's offline/still loading so if it's fully up and running most likely your ports are blocked / not forwarded
How do i make it know that the udp and tcp ports that i forwarded are different ? i couldnt port forward 7777 neither tcp nor udp and had to have 2 different ports for the udp and the tcp. Any ideas on how to implement that in the server ?

Maybe its called different in your router, but you want to open those ports, fordward them your pc, without changing the port number.
game client's still going to expect the server to be listening for both protocols on the same port
But it is weird, that in one setup, the install directory uses spaces and the other time it does not. Both should work, but I can understand the confusion about that.
