#dedicated-servers

alpine docker is an even smaller footprint than docker's footprint
running on like 1vcpu and 512mb of RAM. it don't need much
interesting
I noticed in the game settings ini there is a line that says Version=5 I assume that refers to UE5 engine and that is correct?
probably
LXC makes use of some of the same kernel features that docker does. Nesting those to do βdocker in lxcβ or βdocker in dockerβ can be difficult
maybe the wiki would know?
Right, so that is the argument supporting my/proxmox devs' point right?
That they conflict over certain features
Just making sure I read that right
Thatβs correct
Cool good to know, thanks :D
huh. both scripts default to lxcs so i just assumed they knew best. nothing screamed "needs a VM" like haos's USB passthrough n such. don't LXCs have like... transparent access to the kernel?
I do have pterodactyl in docker though so its interesting that that works
or w/e you wanna call "not a problem in this scenario" access
Itβs quite possible things have improved, I remember reading the same advice when I ran proxmox years ago. Docker, at the time, made some assumptions about what it could control that might not hold inside LXC
Interesting
it's just a recommendation:
If you want to run application containers, for example, Docker images, it is recommended that you run them inside a Proxmox QEMU VM. This will give you all the advantages of application containerization, while also providing the benefits that VMs offer, such as strong isolation from the host and the ability to live-migrate, which otherwise isnβt possible with containers.
keyctl=<boolean> (default = 0)
For unprivileged containers only: Allow the use of the keyctl() system call. This is required to use docker inside a container. By default unprivileged containers will see this system call as non-existent. This is mostly a workaround for systemd-networkd, as it will treat it as a fatal error when some keyctl() operations are denied by the kernel due to lacking permissions. Essentially, you can choose between running systemd-networkd or docker.
from proxmox's LXC wiki
there u have it
Docker on host is goated though π
i still can't think of a single application to add to my homestack by this point. i setup docker like "whoo finally the stuff i been reticent to add".
and then i have it all covered through other means. like mealie vs tandoorie; etc.
r u trolling or demented
i cant tell
π€£
Plenty of room for both
fair
There's just no issue with it π I'll let you know if that ever changes, but I've deployed that configuration on 10s of hosts
i mean; that's just running WSL on windows so you can use docker
and management of servers
Que
I'm personally using Proxmox more than anything as a wrapper for libvirt, that's it
ok thats fair
If I need VMs, Proxmox it is. Otherwise, I'll just use Docker π
Skill issue
skill diff ig Β―_(γ)_/Β―
do u even need /bin/, shouldnt that already be in the path?
gross; next you're gonna tell me to open 15 terminals instead of tabbing between LXCs
Git gud
Huh, yeah you're probably right lol
Old habits die hard
fair
Half the containers I used to run didnβt have bash and just sh
straight vibing on holding music hours
we arent peasants
are you even a server admin if you're not balling out to hold music
Or just run shit natively and have any shell you want π
okay i'm ready to admit: the real reason i hate docker is because i don't need more network bs in my way.
LXCs are actual end points. dockers are docker networks n hell.
Skill issue
You don't know networking pain until you have to setup a site-to-site VPN with Docker on one end, on AWS infra, for a government body, with a tight deadline
pfft
Iβve actually done that one lol
pfffft i was the guy calling you every 10 minutes asking why you suck at your job and why it's not fixed yet
π
B&
No way!
Suuuuuucks lol
Having daily meetings at 03:00 AM due to timezones is suuuuper fun
yuck
God I don't miss that project
ngl i do miss the positional authority. π just calling up bases and microsoft and be like "make bebes" enjoy this conference call
π€£
This would almost immediately become job seeking. F that.
Oh new pin, was the dedi page on the wiki given a once over?
New pin who dis
For 2 months
Yeah, I asked mods earlier to remove the irrelevant pins, and add one pointing to the new wiki
Most info on there that I skimmed through looked good
at least your job totally adjusted your hours and understood that you were on call at 3am every night. π¦
and back then you had options like 4am walmart all to yourself
The frustrating thing was more that the calls were pointless. It was just two teams of engineers sitting on a call going "Did that work" "Nope" "Hmmm"
Me usually being the one asking π€£
Sounds very familiar
Waste of time
Minus the Tz difference
I'll leave out the other country given that it was a government project, but yeah I think it was a 8 hour difference one way, and a 6 hour difference the other way (with me being slap bang in the middle)
Smfh xfinity taking an axe to my internet today
π
Skill issue, just become your own isp
True
Itβs Comcast, itβs probably not any better there
I like the part where you need a phone app to port forward
only got 2wks of sample time tho
they have a web portal as well but yeah thats wank
I just turned the router to bridge mode and plugged my own one in
Nope lmao, tells you to use the app
I'm running opnsense with pihole now, but so bad n dumb
They only have a single multigig port too which is highly problematic
Same!
It's the only thing I have running as an LXC container
yeah I considered at one pt scrapping the router and using my minipc for it (2 nics) but i couldnt be bothered with the setup
also i need wireless for my phone and wouldnt know how to do that
tbh i havent looked into it much
so could be easy
I needed the 10gig.... I still need to 10 gig my client PC though
Once you get a NAS you need 10gb lmao
1gb isn't even HDDs max speed, let alone nvme n such
It has more brrr per second
Was considering a nas but instead just swapped out the boot m.2 for a 4tb one
thatll be enough space for me
im not a data hoarder
Its not about data hoarding, its about having the data
XD you don't get bluray quality streaming
Yeah I dont really have anything to store on my system
I have a ten gig lan from when I ran k8s and ceph needed it to be passable
Once i get my arr stack running thatll be another thing but I dont plan on storing downloaded media long-term
im more of a 1 and done type of guy
watch it then delete it prob
I'm more of a big cinema experience kinda person so errything from interstellar to musicals et all. Once you have the home theater you enjoy the home theater
yup thats fair
Like I could watch the 4k Hans zimmer concert on repeat
lil bit different when u live in a < 500sqft apt π
That is an experience, live in prague
You can still enjoy all the benefits of a home theater, look into bass transducers
They just transduce sound like the miley cyrus toothbrushes. No neighbor disturbing kabooms
You mean I shouldn't have a 100TB local media array?
Crap
Yeah, that's fair
believe u me, id love to have a full rack setup n all with a load of storage n whatnot
but im in an apt that doesnt have a fullsize elevator
or ac
Any dedicated help discord servers. π
fighting for my life out here
can you not fit a full size ATX in a closet? fractal design 7 can fit like 30 HDDs
I could yeah but again I dont really need it
go to microcenter and add the 12700k bundle for $300; profit
That's what this is, we're just shooting the shit π
this is the dedicated server chats yes
we r just shooting the shit for now, ask any questions u got
my htop > your htop
nerd
I got a whole rack in the garage.. built a standalone room with its own AC. Plenty of storage on my main 'server' and then I have essentially my old build (9900k) that I use for gaming dedicated stuff
Well yeah there is no VC's though for me to visually show people things either to explain, or be helped.
i'm still technically raid 5 or w/e. a couple of 22TB + w/e i had lying around; i think a 6tb
u can share screenshots
whats the issue
My local array is 6 x 18TB HDDs (80TB usable after RAID):
root@petaluma:~# df -h /mnt/big_data/
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
big_data 79T 47T 33T 59% /mnt/big_data
ask the question, youd be surprised how far we can get u
I have a issue with my coal powerplant, not sure why it's not running correctly. It'd much prefer to visually walk through someone
Oh, this is the wrong channel then π
The plants seem to not be gettiing water correctly, although I've made great strides to get water to them via using elevation and pumping methodology they /should/ be getting water to run.
oh yeah thats an ingame problem, this is specifically for ppl trying to spin up servers
Yeah,.
Very nice, I use RAID-6 on an HP DL380 G8 with 3x 4TB (os and scratch) and 9x 14TB
try #satisfactory ?
can anyone help me setup a satisfactory server on my home server my friends can join?
lots of dedicated ppl in #1038092680493801533
Do you have a dedicated running that is joinable?
make a forum post n they'll come
Look at pinned msgs to get one set up
I have a open server that is joinable.
perfect im blind lol
If you want to DM me the IP I can hop on a take a look, I do have to hop on a conference call shortly however
Not dedicated, but I'd rather not crowd the dedicated server channel with this to keep things OCD organized.
nah ur far from the first to miss it
cant necessarily blame u
lol
Otherwise, what the others have said create a thread in the #1038092680493801533 channel and one of the folks that regular there will likely help you with the water troubles
where is CSS located? WA?
I'll go ahead and send you a DM
yea Swedish okay. Gotta adjust my expectations for hotfix bingo
They are indeed in Sweden
wait Swedes whatchu doing
id hope they get a patch out before the end of the wk
but also patch friday isnt always a great thing
so
If they are going to patch something, will likely be out around 8AM PST
Snutt said they are focusing on crashes at the moment, so we might not see anything for dedicated unless they lump some stuff in, dont know until we know I guess
mhm
i consider blueprints part of crashes; so i'm hopeful
i'm like half the crash reports alone from last week xd
Is there some bugs about Doggo in multiplayer right now?
not that has been mentioned, why? Whats happening?
i don't even know how to befriend them yet; so i can't say i've had any; or seen any in this chat
feed them berries
i tried; i think i had beryl nuts and just gave up and moved on with life lmao. i never have em when i needed em
yeah it has to be berries nyts doesnt work
I've tammed 5 doggo and my friend 2,
I've only seem the one from my friend as always and never the other one from the past two days π€
which seem to be the rarest
maybe they got lost roleplaying Balto
oh there might be Β―_(γ)_/Β―
Live on the edge, 5 pm Friday deploy to prod
get that ot weekend pay
moneybags
Big brain strat there
?
Hi, I want to retrieve the server status using HTTPS.
I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly.
import requests
url = "https:// to my server ip:port/api"
session = requests.Session()
session.verify = False
payload = {
"function": "ServerGameState",
"data": {}
}
response = session.post(url, json=payload)
print(response.json())
You need to call /api/v1
Anyone know where saves are stored for dedicated server. Cant find it in Factory Game/Saved
There is no Saved Game
AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\server\
Currently using Linux to host
I was looking for the same yesterday, the wiki does not seem up to date for Linux host
Oh thank you~
I have looked in every folder and just nothing
thank you~
find / -name *.sav ?
Found mine by doing cd ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames whilst in your user folder
TY
Ohhhhh tanks you!
Why isnt saved games showing up in my server file menu?
Its in your .config folder. Its a hidden folder.
Should be in your main file directory
wow thank you so much i was looking through thinking i was stupid or something
thanks alot man!
Been trying to figure that out for like a week
hidden files or directories often trip of Linux newbies at first; don't beat yourselves up about it (:
(the same idiom is why the . and .. directories don't show up by default despite being there)
But..but.. shooting stuff is fun!
hyperventilates it's him!
Hi, im not sure if this is answered yet, but when I leave my local server, the server goes directly offline. The option of automatic pause of the server when there is no player inside is disabled. Any idea? It does it whenever I go out, whether or not there are people inside.
are u running the server on the same hardware that ur playing the game on?
yep
okay, tyvm
π π
SQUEEEEEEEEE
Yeah, but seriously. First docker container I ever installed.
Sent me down one hell of a rabbit hole
Hahahaha, yeah I bet!
I've learned a ton. So, thanks! π
Glad to hear it!
indeed! Now I have a RPI running my network controller and a Samba server, and a second x86 machine for my gaming server and... faster... samba server
I'm also slowly mucking my way through making my own containers
That's awesome man, I'm so glad to hear it! If you ever hit any roadblocks, do feel free to reach out π I know what it's like to hit your head against a brick wall for hours and hours π€£
Thank you very much!!!!
So, I was writing a YML file for a web server I was trying to make and it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to make the volume exist outside of the container so i could update the webpage real time and not rebuild the container every time
The best part was realizing I'd figured it out 2 hours earlier but didn't know I had to also flag the webserver to not store the page in memory in perpetuity
That's what I get for trying to learn Flask
my friend cant seem to join my dedicated server
i port forwarded TCP + UDP for 7777
he gets this error
i can join my server just fine on my second pc
Is the server by any chance crashing when that error pops up?
Because I was trying to help someoen else earlier and got that when his server went poof
That's weird. A default timeout is 30 but that is at 20.
@spark osprey is the IP Address shown in the error, the right one?
yes it is the correct ip
is he joining with server manager
that times out for me as well
he was trying to join through joingame
well then
that will never work
you only connect to game servers through the server manager
Yes, though I don't see many people talking about it yet.
this is what it told him when using server manager
that scans. Again, your server address is timing out for my checker too on UDP, which means there's a problem with those connections getting to your server
If itβs not seeing the server and canβt pull the name, the UDP isnβt getting through
Honestly starting to sound like a Satisfactory issue not a individual issue with all the conversation im seeing with this.
sometimes its a problem with the router itself
if u select "both" as the protocol it doesnt acc forward both
u need to make separate rules for tcp and udp
I also did that, still showing up as Server Name Pending Offline on my end.
Timed out.
so its a port problem
on my gaming pc or my PC thats running server>?
Do either of you experience foliage issues on your servers? @knotty vortex
the one that isnt the server
the one that has to access remotely
Dunno, cant get a server to show.
Same Network.
Used IPV4 on Host Computer.
Openned two seperate lines for UDP/TCP
What about you @tender thicket
You should see something like this
not particularly no
nothing ive noticed
Ill try to set up the server with the Public IP instead of Local
ok if u cant connect by the local IP then its a problem with ur server
^
Welp, time to turn it off and back on again
you running on Windows? Always good to try that anyhow if so (:
my server i can connect to. its my buddy that cant
Yep. upstairs computer is able to connect to the server just fine. Just cant get this computer to see it.
that sounds like a problem on your LAN then
and if there's a problem on your LAN it's liekly to affect a WAN connection traversing into your LAN
We can connect just fine when he just hosts a typical game outisde of a dedicated server
p2p connections work completely differently so that's understandable
yeah its just a problem with ur dedicated server
Both Wireless
Right. p2p. Forgot about that one
both my machines are connected via ethernet. i can connect via my gaming pc to server, but my buddy cant. port 7777 is open for TCP and UDP. restarting my network now and updating windows
get ur buddy to go to https:// ip:port on their browser and show what they get
itll be an error if they can access, the type matters
no space in the address btw
evening all, is there a way to specify the server reboot time on wolveix Docker Build?
specify that in the Server Manager; the "interval" is not an interval; it's what time the server's self-housekeeping restart happens
its in UTC btw
oops didnt mean to direct respond
Is that GMT/UTC time then???
Yeah
Mine always tries to restart @ 8 pm EST
TY
not EST
continue thru that
Anyone got an idea when mods will be here?
but that means that they can get to the server
no idea
fun fact: at those warnings rather than having to 'click through' you can type thisisunsafe and it will send you through
the moderators are always here, lurking, watching, waiting.
π
On host computer. Got the error message at ip:port. Handler not found
thats what u wanna c
yup thats right
that means that ur computers can access tcp on the port
so its a udp problem
or something else
its different per router
i opened 7777 on udp
did you also open UDP/7777 on the windows firewall, not just forward it on the router?
yes
i think removing the ports via my router and windows firewall and re adding fixed it
Nvm
For port forwarding, I'm adding the hosts IPV4 correct?
typically, yes
Host computer can access IP PORT, client computer cannot
Browsed to get info about Dedicated servers still keep crashing, have they mentioned that they will release a patch for this?
is there some specific behavior you have observed that can reliably cause a crash? because "they keep crashing" is not a common complaint that I have seen
I think my server has crashed once since the hotfix patch
gotta get around to asking the local fiber provider about a business plan
can play for about 5 to 10 minutes and then the server will crash and restart. We reached out to the Server Host, they recommended restoring to a previous save. We tried that and it still will crash after being on the server. The server will continue to run and produce with no one on it. But as soon as we get in and start doing anything, after about 5 to 10 minutes the server will crash and restart.
sounds like a them problem
that sounds like you need to get a refund from that server host and find a competent one
or become one yourself
we were looking into that as an option. Just had seen on here that there were some chatter about server crashing issues. So not sure if it was a Satisfactory issue or the server host issue. Will continue to look into either a better server host or work on setting up a local server ourselvers. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
sure thing. if you need help setting up a server yourself locally or on e. g. a VPS, we'll be around (:
how worth it are vps;s really
to my mind: quite a bit. much cheaper than a dedicated remote managed server and more versatile.
some people pay $20 a month for hosting a specific game server; that much can get you a VPS you can host five servers or whatever else you wnat to on
but like if I want 6-8 pretty decent x86 cores, no data cap, 32g of ram, and gigabit internet that probably wont come cheap
and like a bunch of storage
Fast, Cheap, Good. You may select at most two
yea
this is true anywhere
I have been using Linode for years and they've been fantastic
what node type
I'd have to look at what the options are called; they've changed the labeling a dozen times since I started being one of their clients
yea these prices are indeed a bit whacko
unfortunately I can do at home what they would charge me for half the price monthly
you could do quite a lot with what they currently call a "Linode 4GB" instance, and expand it later if you need more capacity.
I think the answer is to just make a big down payment on some good hardware and buy fiber gigabit
arguably it's not "unfortunate" your home situation is conducive to self-hosting; most of people don't have five nines of internet and power provider uptime (:
itll come out to like 100$ a month while I still own all my data and have no transfer limits
me
I guess
I think this year we hit a new record of power being out for 5 minutes
like I said, you're fortunate; if you have excellent infrastructure at home I'd absolutely recommend setting up your own personal datacenter in your home
What server provider? I have host havoc which I've used for space engineers for 3 years there great with good memory options. Never had an issue since I started my satisfactory server last week
and we have 300 amp service lol
Huh. IP Adress Reservation being needed to set up port forwarding?
not that I could ever exceed a normal panel I dont think
well you cant port forward to a specific device if that device doesnt always have the same ip
Just did NAT Forwarding and added UDP and TCP seperately
did it work
Nah, Host can still connect and IP:port just fine, my computer cannot.
Even did App firewall allow and Netwrok port allow on sepereate in and out for btoh TCP and UDP
yeah so theres a problem somewhere between ur pc and the public network
Did you place something in your world ?
Hmm. Could it be a Windows thing?
Allow Sharing with printer and other devices is turned off.
seems my server crashes when i place a blueprint and try to dismantle part of it; is this is a known issue?
dont use blueprints theyre horrendously buggy
We had 3 crash in a row after placing our first fuel fluid machine/pipeline,
I hope we didnt corrup the save ππ»
Also, my roommate uses Avast, ew.
How do I change what machine is considered admin for my server?
it's not about the machine, it's about the password you use to connect to the Server Manager
use the admin password? you're an admin. Use the player password? you're not
I see, thank you!
sure!
Γ save file from a dedicated server can be played in Solo?
yes, you can use the Server Manager to upload or download saves to and from the server
From this I still can host the game for my friend to join?
that would be peer-to-peer, not a dedicated server, but yes; it works just like any other save
I'm reading the log file to see the error on the next crash,
This would be the Plan B if the server still crash :/
Yess I understand the difference π
Also on the latest crash like 30mins ago, when my serveur restarted I had a server update from the SteamCMD
There somewhere I can read the commit/changelog of this?
it was probably an update for steam itself, I don't thing there was an update to Satisfactory in the past several days
(I don't believe Valve publishes minor changelogs for Steam)
I restarted my server after adding more resources and now it wont start. The only error I am getting is Loading Steam API...IPC function call IClientUtils::GetSteamRealm took too long: 49 msec I am running the server as a service on Ubuntu
just for troubleshooting, try stopping the service and starting the server manually, see if anything else shows up?
Trying that now it is taking a while. A few things have flashed past the screen in yellow but i have not been able to read them
It seems to have stopped after Processed 60 localized package path(s) for 2 prioritized culture(s) in 0.000278 seconds but the server is still not online
it is progressing now
apologies as im sure this has been asked many times above:
hosting server on a machine on the same network. internal ip 10.0.0.155
bat file:
FactoryServer.exe -multihome=10.0.0.155 -ServerQueryPort=15777 -Port=7777 -BeaconPort=15000 -log -unattended -NOSTEAM
what IP/Port do I use to connect in-game?
firstly: your command is out of date
Those are old commands.. take out multihome, serverqueryport, port and beaconport
ServerQueryPOrt and BeaconPort are no longer used
MultiHome is no longer used but may come back in a future patch
Only need '-log -unattended' - I doubt nosteam does anything with DS anyway
roger that. done.
to set the port you use -Port=7777 for example (7777 is the default port for both TCP and UDP)
TCP/7777 was not used prior to 1.0 so you may need to add it to your router or firewall rules if you had a server before 1.0
adding a server in-game, use localIP of 10.0.0.155 or external? and Port 7777 I assume.
If you are inside, use inside
local just gives me "server name pending" which is why i ask
Unless you have a NAT loopback, using external usually wont work
if you're on the same LAN as the server, yeah use the 10. address
From log:
LogServer: Display: Server API listening on '0.0.0.0:7777' (Standalone)
Check local (assuming Windows) firewall if not able to connect internally
Thats okay, 0.0.0.0 = 'anything'
0.0.0.0 means it's binding to all network interfaces
alright. i'll check firewall again. i had 7777 in there but will double check. thanks, all
o/
I assume I don't need a save file to initialize and connect?
you do not, no; the server will create one
hmm still nada. firewall has a rule. port is fwd'd.
then when you first connect in the Server Manager it should tell you it's ready to be claimed and ask you for an Admin password
not 15777 15000 please
if that isn't working then one of the two ports is not making it to the server and I'd ask you do double-check
I believe I had those from pre-1.0
if you had them pre-1.0 you may not have had TCP/7777 on the firewall
but it was not udp + TCP
that appears to be a screenshot from a phone, which is fine, but are those your router port forwarding rules or the firewall rules on the host running the server?
router. i config through a phone app (which is horrible but the only way my ISP allows)
okay. and the firewall on the host running the server, have you double-checked that?
Server started successfully manually
sounds like it took longer than normal, so if it's doing the same as a service you may need to adjust the service manager timeout settings
what is the best way to do that?
I have this for TCP as well
Is there anything is the server log/console when you try to add it in server manager?
LogServerManager: Verbose: Server API connection not available for '10.0.0.155' as the Server is currently in the Offline State
(external IP) + Port is showing as offline in Steam Server Manager as well.
10.0.0.xxx are private IPs
yeah. i have a few servers added via 24.XX.XX.XX : PORT in Steam Server Manager that at least show status when running
try doing it with your public IP
uninstalling all and trying again. does this work through SteamCMD anymore or no?
yep, SteamCMD is how I maintain my instance of the server
Perhaps I'll give that a go if this doesnt work. So far nothing. Deleted all Satisfactory server rules in Inbound/Outbound and starting again
Fresh install of Server via Steam to no success
Swapped server from Ethernet to Wifi didnt fix anything
Regardless of Port Forwarding I should be able to connect internally, yes?
Assuming you are on the same subnet, which is usually the case. Not on guest wifi on your pc or something are you?
nah both machines on the same ethernet
driving me nuts
for Inbound Firewall: Local Port = 7777, Remote Port = Any?
for Outbound Firewall: Local Port = Any, Remote Port = 7777?
encryption
Why is it when I connect to the server, play then disconnect and go back to main menu, the server then goes offline. It is running (cmd) on the windows server, but it never "wakes up" in Server Manager. I have to ctrl C the server then restart it and join.
known issue with runnign the server and client on the same host. Presumably a patch is being worked on
Server is dedicated server on same LAN, but not my client. Maybe similar bug due to being same LAN?
Heyo!
Server: Ubuntu 22.04 running over SteamCMD
I am trying to follow this article, since when I lose my SSH connection it kills the login to my user therefore kills the server which is not what I want.
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers/Running_as_a_Service
I have created my systemd file, however when I start my service after doing daemon-reload and enable and then start, it doesn't start and then crashes with Exit Code 203,
[Unit]
Description=Satisfactory dedicated server

Group=your_user
Restart=on-failure

ah okay so this might not be a "me" problem?
Or was that for Mendien?
it looks like systemd is stopping at the Steam update and not proceeding to actually start the server itself
t'was
not sure about your problem if you've double-checked the firewall and forwarding settings
Sorry, not sure what the fix is here, are you saying its steams end that is breaking at the update?
let me dig up my systemd config file..
That would be much appreciated! I've read through the KB but I feel like I'm missing something in my config?
(yes I know I should remove -multihome)
Question, did you have any issues installing SteamCMD with your root user? Or is ghoti your user for steamcmd?
I never run anything as root that I don't have to becuase one should not do so
I believe SteamCMD will indeed put the brakes on if it sees itself as root
Thought so, I figured your user was root but that makes sense.
What's that Environment variable for thats the only thing I appear to be missing
If you're on a system without 32-bit libraries that will help SteamCMD find its 64-bit library
Imagine that wouldn't crash my service, and I should have 32 bit libraries. Interesting... I'll see if I can find anything similar digging through old messages
Just to confirm my paths are right as well
that looks consistent to me
If you were to say uninstall SteamCMD and completely start over on Ubuntu Server and say burn it all to hell would you know the proper way of doing so?
i have a dedicated server with 5 people everything has been going fine we are about 100 hours in and now server is crashing constantly getting "EXCEPTION_ACESS_VIOLATION reading address". we cant play for more than 5 minutes
no idea what is happening
server logs dont provide anything useful
the save game works fine in locally hosted multiplayer
I reinstalled via SteamCMD and completely disabled Windows Firewall and I can now connect to server. Thanks, all
could be a RAM error
I swapped the ram already
I just tested it with a fresh game save. Seems to run fine. Now testing it with an old 500 hour update 8 save.
The sticks could be fine and the issue could be the slot?
i just confirmed everything is working fine with my old 500 hour save with 5 people logged in. seems like there is an issue with new save. but it runs fine when locally hosted
getting this on world saves anyone know how to fix the timeout is already capped idk what to do its my friends dedicated server Idk how to fix it or if its even on my end
I have this exact same problem and cant find any solution anywhere. Server is dedicated and not run on the same client, is on the same LAN. Tried some workarounds to connect to my external IP as a client and not an administrator, the server still goes offline when I leave
@opaque drift Does it crash when other people than you are on the dedi or instantly?
Does not happen only when its client/server on the same machine, I have the issue as well and I run it on a separate dedicated machine. I have also tried it on a different machine on my LAN and have the same issue. Specifically the UDP listener is getting dropped but the TCP stays up, nothing in the logs show out of the ordinary.
See: https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/66e08561772a987f4a8a9d67
The first poster was incorrect (or experiencing another issue) as the thread continues with others having issues on separate dedicated machines as well. (JTGaming, spazerman, mikster5000)
Hahah I've figured it out!
In my systemd file the default install for SteamCMD is /usr/games/steamcmd.sh
however my steamcmd installed to home/steam/Steam/steamcmd.sh for some reason, once I made this change I was able to restart the service successfully. Thanks for the assist I was able to figure this out from you helping out Hyper this morning with a similar issue!
this is what was causing my status 203 crash!
seems like it runs fine with just me in the server. waiting 10 min for an autosave to be sure.
It might be bad character data for someone; could try deleting it from satisfactory calc. If they cause the crash instantly you may have to keep track of anything important they had.
It's usually when they place some from from the times I've seen
it made it to autosave then crashed with just me in it. ugh
Logs didn't mention anything else around the fault?
that makes sense to me but the server/save runs fine when i host local multiplayer on my gaming rig with all 5 of us in the server, so i dont think its character data.
Yeah it's likely not
no just the exception acess violation
going to try capping the conveyor belt fps per this
https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/66e4e38f772a987f4a8afbfa
A fair bit changed with 1.0. I'm not even sure what happens with the new features on old saves.
it seems like its being worked on by the devs. ive spent too much time troubleshooting. we will just have to play in local multiplayer for now.
thanks for your help
Have fun
log out of my d.server driving a tractor, now it is under the terrain! any thoughts on how to solve this?
Glad you were able to figure it out. For future reference, the 203/exec exit code means systemd wasnβt able to execute the thing you asked it to. As in βthis isnβt an executableβ, not as in βthis crashedβ. In my experience, commonly when the path is wrong, but can be caused by permissions and SELinux too.
Edit the save in satisfactory calc. Could move the death box if it is under and or just delete your problem.
Any news on the Foliage issues?
is the foliage issue, where they respawn and can't be cut down?
Do you guys toggle off the auto pause?
i have auto pause off on the server i host
Is there new EU dedicated server
My dedicated server on a windows machine appears to go offline after about an hour of no one joining and needs to be manually restarted to bring it back online. Any potential fixes?
are u starting it with a .bat file ?
Yes
got -unattended ? in the bat file if so idk then
I sure do
if no one can think of something obvious ill put it down to a hardware fault and start over
u can check the logs if u have -log in the .bat
Same issue π¦
How the hell does this works
Which part are you not understanding?
The part after I launch the addon
you following a guide or just freeballing it?
right, i would strongly suggest 1 of the many youtube vids that explain it all in great detail
there is a good one in pinned and on the wiki
So its not just launch and go ? :<
i mean, thats what p2p is for
But what's the use for dedicated serv
to have a server running without an instance of satisfactory
Yea, like you launch the game and then they join you
a dedicated server can run as long as the machine its on stays on
yea you can pay to have a server hosted for you
Ohhh nice to know
Is there some kind of clientside save data for a server?
i have an issue that's specific to me and doesn't reset on a relog
is there a video to help guide someone to make dedecated servers
hey my friend just made a dedicated server and the problem is i can't join the server, it tells me the server is offline
Your friend needs an public IP address and also perform port forwarding on the router (7777 udp\tcp)
yeah we did that, still not working
anyone wanna work on a open-source discord bot for satisfactory servers?
we could make it useful for admins and players on the server since the new API dropped
or if anyone is aware of such a project please send it to me, many thanks
yeah he did
is that firewall or port-forward?
yeah its on the firewall..
That's what I wanted to ask as well, im pretty sure that's the firewall...
Port forwarding is done though his router interface, usually available at 192.168.0.1
with the default login admin admin
and how do we exactly do that?
I sent you a dm
from the router web interface
What hardware and what hoster are you currently using? Because mine is running on an AMD Epyc, which has lower single core performance as i was told, but on online benchmarks, its not looking to bad. From what i can see, i could get also other servers with an Ryzen 5 3600, or similar, but would like what you use with good performance?
If the forwarding is configured correctly, the last option is to check the firewall of yourself and your friend. To diagnose the problem, try pinging to the external ip of your friend to see if he responds accurately. Or restart the server, because there is a problem with it, if a player leaves the game, then kicks all the others and the server is no longer available on the network.
@uneven gulch the problem is, that your friend's private network does not have public ip addresses. Only the router has one, and it keeps tabs of outgoing connections. On incoming connection, it does not know to which address to forward it unless told specifically to forward port this and that to some address. That is port-forward.
must blueprints be shared in a server? can i turn that off?
Done π
Hi. I have problem remove server restart in game. I have own restart on gportal, but in game there is another restart server interval. I set it to 00:00 and yet i got server restart and timer was back to 24:00. Anyone know how fix it please?
how do you stop the server from turning off after theres no players on?
The label in-game is misleading, it's the time the server will automatically restart. It cannot be disabled, it is a requirement for the game to work as expected
Through the in-game server manager's auto pause option. Disable it
I did when I left game it somehow reenabled
yeah whenever i leave the server it shuts down
any reason my network quality for my dedicated server wont stay at ultra?
Yeah i find some answers. So i must set it by my time zone which is UTC+1.
which epyc do you have? not all epycs are the same; there's the ones with 256+ cores... and ones with 8 cores.
i was looking at the CPU core list and noticed there are EPYC specs that do have solid single core performance.... because they're rebranded gaming chips. but they're also 128 core+ monsters
all depends on the model
i didn't realize there were fast epycs so would've been good to know before planting that in your head xd
Sadly i cant really figure out what epyc exactly it is, because cpuinfo on the system just gives me AMD EPYC but without any exact numbering. The server im using only has 4 dedicated cores, so i maybe will contact hetzner and ask them for the exact model. Or worst case switch to a server using a ryzen 5 3600 or rzyen 7 3700x
like an AMD EPYC 4564P is way different than say a Genoa 9654
Thats true
one has clock speeds of 5.7 GHZ; the other... 3.5ghz
so yea. i'd look into renting either a full CPU box if you can swing it and have use for it (all da game servers n more). that way you know you're the one pounding the CPU when you need it
otherwise look into making sure you're on a fast shared CPU; not a large shared CPU
passmark's got a list of what CPUs to look out for for single core performance.
something with like a minimum 3k score; so 5600x/12600k+
I think the epyc has a rather bad single performance the server is currently running on, it clocks in at 2,4GHz, the exact model i still dont know though
this is all totally overkill for just satisfactory; i only recommend the bare metal box once you have more than 1 game server and/or dedicated friends all trying to play and/or you want the nerd project
there are also some other game server running on the server, so ill take a look at hetzners other offerings such as their auctions
look at their ax52;
if i'm reading that right; that's not a bad price
entire box for 80 euro????
whattttttttttttttttttttttttttt i'm actually insanely jealous
i pay like $130 for a 5900x; and they just have 7950x3ds for that monthly
π π π π π π π
f, where are you from?
US hosting with OVH
heck they still ask $115 for a brand new 5900x so i don't feel too bad
maybe i should shop hosts for a new box π
Running on AWS good value but server is hardly working and average tick rate is 30 sure there some configuration I need to figure out but wiki is a bit unclear π
what the actual heck lmao. the cheapest 7950x here on server hunter is 200 a month vs $130 equivalent.
π‘ now i'mma be mad if you don't get it lmao
I need to look, dont really want to spend more than 50 euros per month
anyone know how to stop your server from shutting down when you leave the server
does it shut down completely or just pause the world/save?
yep, I got that one and I love it π
shut down completely
there is a sub thread in this channel with folks that have been having the same problem, there is no fix yet, but users are trying to research and comment
i have pinged you in the thread so you should more easy find it. π«‘
I don't have an issue, you pinged the wrong person
just noticed my error π - thanks you
Hello,
can I somehow turn off respawning mobs in config?
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Creatures#Respawning
kill the animal then build something near to it.
otherwise no way to disable.
note thats not specific to dedicated server, thats just normal game mechanics
there are many articles online with a very quick google you will find many examples,
On our dedicated server we build conveyor going to our factory and hogs and bees still spawning near it
it's kinda annoying to kill bees every hour
its not related to dedicated servers, its a normal game mechanic, the solution is to build things in its place.
Okay, thanks!
heya, how well do vehicles go on servers now? they used to be abit shit
like trucks and stuff
anyone have problems with a server not registering that you have the manual upload research node researche? I don't see no button to access it
oops missed the space where it's supposed to be
-# actually i just realized that the arrow didn't appear even when i researched the node above it (which is the one that unlocks the Depot)
Hello guys. I have a problem with my rented dedicated server. Im the owner and playing with some friends. But when i leave the servers it goes offline and needs to be restarted. This happend 100% of the time. Can i fix this? Or is it a bug atm?
No there should be a toggle option to keep it constantly on ....under the server manger or the next tab to the right
-# Take that with a pitch of salt cause i myself ain't the owner of the server i'm playing on
That's not the problem :/ i have it so the servers dont stop. But the server dies when i leave it.
On the rented saite it's running. But on the server manages ingame it's offline.
site*
I have been reading about this also on reddit. Happens to others to when owner plays on it. The only fix i see is that the account that claimed the server can't play on it them self. Hope someone has a fix for this. Dont wanna restart the server all the time.
I cant unlock HUB-Upgrade 3. Nothing happens in the client. I already reloaded the level. This error shows up in the log:
[2024.09.19-12.11.32:024][595]LogGame: Warning: GiveAccessToSchematic() tried to unlock a schematicClass 'BlueprintGeneratedClass /Game/FactoryGame/Schematics/Tutorial/Schematic_Tutorial2.Schematic_Tutorial2_C' that was already unlocked.

known issue..
https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1283191576641798144
no fix yet, does not impact everyone, only some folks.
maybe try uploading the save to the satisfactory calculator, check if you can unlock whatever youre trying to unlock there using its save editor functions?
Yeah I wanted to start from zero with the dedicated server. Appararently thats not possible. When uploading a safegame from singleplayer, it unlocks everything in stage 0 π
aaaa π’
start from zero in singleplayer π then upload to dedi once youre out of stage 0
Yeah, now I know. Still a bug, that it shows non working buttons in the game.
My dedicated server keeps disconnecting people like every 10minutes or so, any fix or workaround I'm missing?
i can play normally, and my friends no matter who joins my server or not, also can make multiple servers and work fine
Yeah it looks like this doesnt happend to everyone. But it sure does happen to some. I have reinstalled the server but til no go. The only fix is that i claim the server with some other acount thats not gonna be on the server. Thats a fix atm.
I used my gf account and claim it. Now it doesnt stop. Server still dies if she connects and leave, but she's not playing on it. so this fixed it's for now until we get a update.
But you do actually play on the same machine, as your dedicated server?
Do mods work on dedicated servers yet? Would I need to install them to the server, clients, or both?
no i dont, i have separate hardware where the servers are hosted, in my truenas scale
from what i could see in 1.0 server blueprints are automatically transfer to your own pc from the server, i am guessing same goes for the mods if server has any
Ok. I did some more research but itβs confusing because I see some messages about certain mods working for 1.0 but in the modding discord they just seem to say βno modding yetβ. Guess Iβll continue vanilla for now. I just wanted my custom signs back π
Enable pause when last player leaves.
I got a fun one, every time my dedicated server restarts, it crashes on launch with this fatal error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000210
Had otherwise been working fine for 200 hours
Hey guys, are there any workarounds for server crashes when a player leaves the server and when the server automatically restarts and does not come back?
Nope
I think that's a ram issue but I would submit at ticket to the devs to confirm.
no fix yet, but the topic is being discussed in a sub thread here - https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1283191576641798144
Thank you. The other instance I noticed a problem is when the automatic restart occurs, the server seems to not come back and I have to restart it manually.
Just for the sake of making it known, I am also experiencing the server crash upon exit - but only for me when I quit as the host, my friend can join and leave as he likes without issue.
I have 64gb of ram on the server this is running on haha, it's worked for like 200 hours and no changes. Idk what ram issue would be new?
For setting up the DS the wiki has theports as 15777, 15000 and 7777. I understand we only need 7777 now.
Do I set all of those to 7777 like this: -ServerQueryPort=7777 -BeaconPort=7777 -Port=7777 or just have the last one
which wiki? (i suspect an old wiki thats not maintained anymore)
you checked the one in the channel description? (it is the best wiki to use as it is maintained)
Thanks. Nope. Hadn't looked there.
Are there any remote monitoring apps for dedicated server?
I just wanna know if a grid trips
so while there are a ouple of github codes been shared for some basic monitoring... the RestAPI does not appear to expose informaiton like power tripping or such.
you can see what information is available here - https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers/HTTPS_API
I know the wiki says no ARM support but I'm wondering if anybody managed to get it working? Wondering if it's worth setting up a server on my Oracle Cloud VPS?
if i recall correctly someone got it to start, but would crash when join or was it building something, so it did not really work
which is no surprise given its not supported.
the server requires specific CPU extensions to work, extensions that are only in newer x86/x64 cpu's and are not available with ARM and are not emulated in X86/x64 emulators.
Ah damn thanks for the info. Any ideas of other free hosts that would work for Satisfactory?
there might be, but not that im aware of (i host mine own my own dedicated hardware (spare machine) so ive never looked for hosts).
So I've tried this with my oracle ampre instance, you won't get much luck
I could get it to spin up a server, but creating a world would crash the game
Honestly, you can get a host for Β£9 a month that runs satisfactory fine, and you can use for other games and services as well
Hi Pioneers, Is it possible to change the restart hour of the server? It restarts at 00:00 and I would prefer it to be like 4:00 or so.
I was also wondering this
Always end up playing through midnight so it's a bit annoying
Ram stick failing would be my guess.
The restart interval in the server manager settings is a clock not an interval. So 24 hours = midnight and 12 hours = noon.
what is recommened for ram + cpu cores for a server with a save with 3 people?
what does tick rate do when increased?
Oh! I was thinking this was an interval, very helpful, thanks
any dedicated server patch yet?
where can I find this setting?
In the server manager settings.
Anyone here had issues with nginx streaming for dedicated servers? Keep being DCβd due to failed Acks and not sure why
Mostly increase your electricity bill.
Cause more CPU consumption but very little in player noticeable difference
i dont pay it anyways :)
At the cost of extra CPU consumption you might get slightly better ping times.
In world the difference is negligible
I set my server to 60ticks, but honestly I don't notice any difference at all in game.
Does not say how much cores
I'm using a hosting
would upping it help with the issue of splitters sometimes being slow?
Don't know, sorry.
Try it and see, share your results here π
It's primarily limited to the speed of a single core, with some side tasks that run on some other cores.
Go for 4 and you should be good to cover most cases.
I am using SteamCMD. Is this server manager something in game? I didn't see that option. Do I need to enable advanced settings on the save or something?
In the game. Click about your find it.
Yes the in-game server manager settings.
Thanks, I will look for it.
Do I need to enable Advanced Settings on the save or it's unrelated?
No
We figured it out - apparently error 210 is caused by beams of light overlapping on DX12. You can manually go into SCIM Save editor and delete the lights, saving it and replacing the world in the dedicated server, but seemingly once this happens a single time, every new save it does effects it.
And this was true in our case, I tested it, killed the floodlights in save editor and it launched again correctly. Once I saved and reloaded it, killed it again.
I've got the server going on Ubuntu running under Proxmox (found an old PC at the office). Woohoo.
Anyway, I uploaded my saved game without an issue, but it had no blue prints. So, I created a new blueprint, so it would create the directory. Eventually found where it keeps them in case anyone is looking:
~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/blueprints/[saved game name]
Anyon else seen crashes? I have had 2 crashes recently
running the latest docker container
im kinda dumn and dont know how to setup the dedicated server through epic can anyone help?
none at all, 153 hours server time, windows dedi
friend had some client crashes (rare), I never had one yet
(building trains now)
I have 3 people who play on mine and we didn't have any issues until recently
but the factory is getting larger
all of my old logs are gone π¦
I guess I will just ahve to catch it when it happens next time
ive been crashing every like hour or so, mostly when messing with blueprints
Now that you mention it I was using blueprints both times
If you're installing in windows you can add the dedicated server to your library and install from the Epic Games Launcher. However, there seems to be a bug that the server will stop listening if you're playing the game on the same host.
i have it installed i just dont know how to set it up
where would we post the bug report?
blueprints + dedicated server = big crash time
Satisfactory forums: questions.satisfactorygame.com
Bumping in case anyone has insight ππ»
In the Game, go to ServerManager. It'll set up on first connection
- install server
- open port 7777 tcp and udp on the firewall of the device running the server
- on your router, port forward incoming internet traffic on port 7777 tcp and udp to the device running the server
This is way too much to explain, so you'll have to break it down and read how to do each part on your own.
I'm currently in trouble because of this
patch? did they fix the dedicated server issues?
Just a quick fix for crashes from convery belts / lifts
Check the wiki in the channel description π
For what issue?? Best to check the patch notes channel for details and if it applies to you.

Any way to download a save file for Satisfactory Calculator from a friends dedi that I dont have access to? Is the game caching a copy local somewhere?
No local cache, ask your friend for the save file, if they are owner then there options they can use to download it then share with you.
i just updated my game but i cant join my server, apparently there is no server update
Alas, it doesn't appear this patch fixes the cursed belt/BP we've got.
Good News, If you looking at web management for your server, The PHP API class is 99% done. If you take a look, let me know if you have any issues or ideas.

When dedicated server update?
It's currently available
how long does it usually take for the server to update?
I have mine hosted at gPortal and the server just kicked us out to install the update - like 20 min ago
docker version isnt updated to the latest satisfactory server?
The (most common) docker container version is independent of the game server's version. The game files are stored outside the container and are updated whenever you restart the container.
I don't know if this is related to dedicated server or right place to ask, but when playing with 2 others on our dedicated server I crashed.
When I restarted the game and logged in it was as if my character and everything on it was deleted. I respawned in the hub as a fresh player.
Anyone knows if there's any way to restore my char? We have restarted server, still same.
thank you
restarting docker container
Well-known issue, unfortunately. Can happen if you re-join before your previous instance has timed out. You can find your previous body and kill it to get the inventory back
You connecting before the server lost you old connection so it gave you a new body. You need to go find you old body and kill it to get your stuff back.
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit this should be the update command for a linux machine right? Just doing that in the dir the server is hosted?
Enable pause doesnt work. It's on by default. So i turn it off to check if it fixed the problem. But no luck there. The server crash only happens when i "owner" leave. I have tested it with all my friends and the server never die when they leave. But if i leave the server goes down asap.
As long as you used the default location when you installed it yes.
It's a known issue.
@dusky wedge @chrome pumice Thanks so much, that worked. We didn't notice the body before since I was high in the air with hoverpack when it happened.
Yeah i know. But im trying to figure out why it only happens to someone and not everyone π
is there a way to specify the directory? Its inside /usr/games/satisfactory, when downloading it seems to do something, but then the server is still on the same version
add +force_install_dir /path/to/gamefiles
where /path/to/gamefiles should be replaced with what it says on the tin
Ryzen 7 Pro 8700GE or Ryzen 7 3700x or Intel Core i5-13500 for a dedicated server? all costing rougly the same to rent
FG.NetworkQuality x Sets the network configuration for the game server.
3 is equivalent to the "Ultra" setting in the game client.
Is this settings game changer or not worth it? we all have fiber speed
UI say this will reduce the TPS or the server, also how I can see TPS server ?
Hello folks,
since the 2 Gig update we have had serious performance problems. You have to click on something 2-3 times before it is selected or removed. Time delay sometimes 3-4 seconds.
how do i update my server on ubuntu?
steamcmd +force_install_dir <path_to_the_game> +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
alright, thank you!
Canβt comment on the effect of network quality, but in the server manager, you can see the βTick Rateβ as part of the info displayed about the server status
are there any docs on every setting u can set with the .ini files?
my friend made a dedicated server they can join but when i try it says can't connect to server api anyone a solution to this problem
If the server shows up but gives an error about not being able to connect to the server API, thatβs almost certainly TCP port 7777 (assuming the default) isnβt open.
With 1.0, the dedicated server requires both UDP and TCP port 7777 open and forwarded
two other friend joined but the problem happened to only me
Hey everyone! Are there any dedicated server hosting providers which are recommended by the community?
I have the error and NMAP showing tcp port open and udp port open | filtered

came here to ask the same - also just saw it in the log, but server is running and I'm connected
I also saw that in my logs
I observe this when server is idling with no players. Seems to be normal.
its an indication that your IP address and ports are being scanned.
the request is not expected by the server, and is just a socket test.
this could be due to legitimate security companies scanning the internet, as much as it could be 'hackers' looking for open ports and vulnerabilities in a system
the trick is to ensure you have good internet security (firewalls setup) to not allow traffic from these.
(so you need to setup a white list of allowed IP's that you do want to allow to connect and block all other traffic)
Apparently it was the other way around, redeployed again and now its working
A patch an hour ago? π
is there a way to tell the dedi to not auto update immediately?
My server is hosted at gPortal, running on a Windows Server 2022 (which is wild for me) and it just kicked us out and installed the update out of nowhere - took like 30 min to come back online
now I don't know who to blame - did gPortal just push that or did the server see the update and install it?
Oh it's literally for a singular issue
is this new patch working for people dedicated server wise? I'm running Docker, updated mine, can no longer connect despite restarting both the DS and client numerous times

ye i saw that, but there are only a few things listed

thats all the official documentation says, im not aware of anything more complete
Steam cmd
did nmap myself ^^
Does anyone have a clue why I can talk with the tcp endpoint via the browser. But the server is listed in Satisfactory Server Manager as offline?
yes. honestly I think it's a "gportal" issues. Without "blaming" them.
It's probably by design and right to be so.
To answer your literal question. Yes. I "host it myself" and have to trigger server updates manually.
do dedicated servers work?
yes no maybe. can you limit scope of question? :3
I think so too
thought there could be some nice option to prevent this
I'll ask them to provide this in their web interface
Help , the update file doesnt work
basically how I update too. what did not work. what is the error you observe?
Is this the same think you ran to install it?
Yes
Did it update then? Some times when an update it pushed out it takes a bit for the server side to be available everywhere.
I dont think it updated tbh
the version is the same as before
do all players currently wanting to join the server need to do steam cmd
it did not update, the current version is 367101
Yes like my game , but the scrypy executed
If it doesn't show downloading update when you ran that command then it didn't update.
idk , once its done the cmd shuts down
Yeah that's how it works. Runs the update then quits.
did the patch fix blueprints
I ran an other server and it work wtf lol
which issues did the game have with the blueprint ?
But thanks for your help
they don't work/they're bad/they break and crash the entire server when clearing the manager.
π iunno if that's part of their belt problem or not
really ?? wowww.. cause i'm going to use them now so...i was afraid lol
how do i update server via steamcmd*
The update didnt work on my server hahahaha
we all agree that the "new" dedicated servers that snutt talked about in few videos ago are not out yet ? if i remember correctly he talked about having a UI and other things..
whats the command to update the server
ya what? it does indeed have a new console.
yes. I saw this like a week ago. You can change the install dir.
Basically steamcmd did not recognise the update unless you told them to 'reinstall'
really ??
How do I upload blueprints to the dedicated server? in linux
what's the command to update your server?
i think figured it out
login anonymous
app_update 1690800
really
repeating the same question <1 minute won't help you much.
something like this #dedicated-servers message>
how did you install the server ? it's basically the same command.
'-NewConsole'
will the save stay?
no wayyyy just this ? thanks i'm trying now
unless you did something super funny, yes.
??
The save area does not get touched.
???
in linux ubuntu 22.04
Don't you just walk up to the blueprint machine and load it?
ok you also have the "old" console being launched at the same time than the new one ?
yes. also kinda flodding aren't we.
For me it seems ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/blueprints/$world_name contains the sbpcfg and sbp-files. never tried but wild guess. Drope your files there.
correct, but some stuff is directed into the new console.
so nice thank you so much
can I put blueprints on my server?
If the server shows as offline, then your client canβt reach the UDP endpoint of the server. The server API is served over TCP
Thanks for the info, I will debug it more tom.
how to find my servers ip
IP of the machine hosting it.
how do i find mine lmao
Yes @radiant berry
Is there a way to trigger an auto save in the server terminal or only in game with the server manager console?
anyone figure out how to get drop pods to open with power on a ded server yet?
I noticed in my case it was only my client
apparently it works on multiplayer if you're the host but since there's no host player...
The other players didn't have this problem, stuff i destructed got removed
Its multiple clients on the server. Its still an issue with the dedicated server, in my opinion
Its also impossible to remove.

'dedit starting on t2' - its per design, but being considered to start earlier on dedicated.
So for me. Everything respawned. Stuff destroyed days ago
Depends on what is you are hosting on.
The host might not see it. But still a Client/Server communication issue that needs to be fixed
But the other players see me destroy stuff
what do
Works fine for me.
I'm the only one afflicted
"Foliage not destroyable after Server Restart" Questions and help, if you can upvote.
Update your game.
Differs for everyone but on our server its multiple clients
not working for us... weird.
Will everyone get the start intro of the game when playing on a rented dedicated server?
no (i also answered this question only 12 posts up)
Oh, that's sad
Thats also why i asked, is there some kind of local cache to delete to fix it?
Idk, I am asking too.
dont see anything
anyway to make it ignore the mismatch?
No
Try restarting steam.
Hello,
Version mismatch issues. I feel i just jumped through both hoops today:
In case your game is more recent:
Observe:
Game Version 367101
Server Version 366202
-> update your server (steamcmd, otherwise tell us how you installed the game).
If it won't update set a different install_dir (basically reinstall the server). Yes. Your save games and blueprints should be fine in most cases.
If your server is more recent:
Observe:
Game Version 366202
Server Version 367101
-> This affects you as the players. With steam I could force an update via right click the game in your library list -> properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of game files
are you self hosting the server, or is this a service?
windows or linux?
self hosting
followed this
i had the same problem, my issue was that for the directory i was entering, i assumed it knew its current directory
@wanton hamlet my last wall of text. try setting a different install dir.
didnt work when i typed satisfactory/ but it worked when i typed /home/henrys/satisfactory/
wdym
Your server has been updated but your game client has not - go in to steam and force your game client to update by right clicking on satisfactory -> properties -> installed files -> verify integrity of game files
Did you fully restart you steam big potato?
yes
what is the current version?
Look at your screenshot. The server version is the new version.
damn i missed that
this is from the youtube link you posted. you see the install dir C:\GameServer\SatisfactoryServer part?
Make this like ``install dir C:\GameServer\SatisfactoryServer_version2`
Apply the context. (I think in the video he saves it into a file so you have to edit this file. hm :> )
Basically you reinstall the game (just the server should not take long). Forcing the update.
:KokoPrayKomaCafe: i am not 10000% convinced; this isn't my most complex blueprint yet; but it would seem that they're working much better now
Anyone else's server crashing after update?
if you find any other solution keep me updated. ive tried making a new install_dir and doing the normal update process to no avail
made 4+ manufacturers with full belt spaghetti and saved the blueprint and cleared it; no errors
Maybe all the blueprint issues where just belt issues.
I attached a conveyor lift through a wall and every time I touched it the server crashed
π i even deleted the BP no problem; it is gorgeous
how do I update the dedicated server hosted at Godlike?
you say your server stays on a lower version. even with a new install dir?
I feel that's something only time would heal. when steam's CDN decides to roll out the updates for your "region" too?
(talking bout "will be fixed next day" or so)
