This pfsense router already has squid installed on it. The other network person in the house tried to set it up, but she got bored halfway through.
yea that sums up my experience with pfsense
I already learned docker compose for this and my media server, nginx seemed like Yet Another giant config file nightmare.
the specific docker image for nginx-proxy-manager is really streamlined. Takes away all of those problems.
hence my enthusiasm
Nginx Proxy Manager has very little configuration, trรฆfik on the other hand means you need to configure everything manually.

or just a properly-sized brain
i'm sleep brain, g'night folks. thanks again.
Hey guys, i have a question. Yesterday the hotfix dropped which yall discussed in length allready according to the roundabout 50 scrolls upwards i just did. Well i am slightly less inapt then an ant when it comes to servers but i somehow managed to update my own little linux server an the satisfactory server running on there. Yet my game still says, the game versions are not matching. Did i do something wrong or is the linux server version of satisfactory not updated yet?
tl;dr am i stupid or is the satisfactory server version for linux still at 365306?
Current version is 366202. For some reason, SteamCMD seems to have a hard time picking up the update. What you can do is delete the current install and re-run the install for force it to get the current version. Your game save and server state and config files are kept in a different location so they won't be lost if you do this.
ok thanks, i will try that ๐
Having another server issue, when I disconnect, it closes the server for some reason. Anyone know why?
are you running the server on the same physical machine that you're playing the game on?
i saw game update yesterday, is server need to update too?
yes
emmm, how to update server?
That depends on how it was installed.
Yes I am, I was able to add 2 "servers" one as an admin and one as a client, I usually play on the admin one and when I leave its crashing or closing the whole server. I'm gonna try joining as the client to see if that changes anything
it doesn't; you need to run it on a different host
There's a known issue where if you are hosting and playing on the same machine, you'll see the behavior you're describing. CSS is AFAIK aware of it and working on a fix.
I have the same issue, it's very strange
it listens to all traffic on 7777; so a quit command is a quit command.
just spin up WSL + docker and magic it away into a diff "host" and enjoy; no 2nd pc required for a 2nd host.
I have no clue what any of that means LMAO
yeah but it does it even with only one server
because it just listens to localhost:7777 so you need to isolate erry server/client. can't multibox anything til its fixed.
I don't see why leaving the game would send a quit command to anything
oh yeah wsl is thing I forgot about that one when I use linux debian. Thx for making me realize.
didn't see this answer, thx
i use linux server with steamcmd, i just google and it said: redo the install command, is it going to override my server files? and what about my save file?
your save files are in a different location (~/.config/Epic)
you should probably back them up anyway, better safe than sorry
i mean my server save file
yep, your server save is kept separate from the actual server itself
think he means the crap in FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer, which are in the game directory
me too. with ~ I refer to to home dir of the user running the server process. ๐
Sad that's .config because sftp client thin it's a hidden folder on linux so people have to config sftp client to show it
skill issue, show hidden files/folders lmao
"yep"? you mean it will be overrided?
Yeah but lot of people doesn't know how to do it so it's sad for Hosters
To be as clear as I can possibly be:
- your server save and state files are stored in
~/.config/ - Your server installation has almost certainly been installed elsewhere
- Upgrading or even deleting and reinstalling the server will not affect your save and state files
depot info says it doesn't write to the FactoryGame/Saved dir anyway, so you're good
thats very clear, thanks
hey guys, since yesterday's update i can't chop down tree anymore with my chainsaw (yeah i got fuel), any idea ?
try to open your iptable port for 7777
Can I change the time the server auto restarts? It restart every 24h which is fine but now it does so at midnight and I am still playing around that time which is annoying. Can I change it to 3am? (Dedicated server on Windows)
Uh hi do you guys use the unraid dedicated docker container at all by chance here?
it's temporary to prevent you from crashing from it #patch-notes
thanks for the answer
Does it work like in HoI4 that you need the same checksum?
as a client do you require the same files
Thanks, I was googling and all I got was some reddit posts that contradicted
I was a a a a bit frustrated as whether or not
Also, thank you for all you do, you're either making a ton of money or you're a very dedicated person to make this so much easier
Haha, certainly not making much from doing this ๐ Just happy to help!
I just started to pull your container โค๏ธ
Your effort is much appreciated
What are benfits or negatives for setting network Quality to ultra? Does it increase CPU usage of server?
Have been using medium and haven't noticed any lag
It improves the maximum rate for network traffic I believe. If you're fine on medium, then leave it as is ๐
I can't find my server with my public IP address. All my ports should be open ( 7777 TCP/UDP). I'm on windows and steam dedicated server app
Anyone got any ideas why my friend cannot join the dedicted server I've created. Windows steamcmd server, added ports TCP/UDP 7777,15000,15777 to port forwarding and opened up inbound firewall rules now as well on those ports. Can confirm I can connect to dedicated server as its running on my machine through local address and port, I cannot connect however through public facing ip address. My friend initally got the server to come up in server manager but was getting an API error on the screen, after deleting and trying again, he now just get Server Name Pending.
Any further thoughts on troubleshooting? He can ping my public ip.
guys version mismatch detected between game and server.
game version: 366202
server version: 365306
how to fix?
Update server
^
Can you check if you can reach the 7777 port?
The same for @eager walrus
how do u do that (its my friend hosting so im asking for him)
hes just running the dedicated server off his pc
the same way as he installed it. (steam GUI, docker, cmd, your friend will know :> )
sometimes you have to force the update via a reinstall. rename the server-game directory and trigger the installation again.
ok thank u
Yes I get the generic httpserver.route_hnadler_not_found message @main thunder
If you use an online Port Checker, then have it check the 7777 port. Does it tell you it's closed or open?
where can i Disable pausing the game when no players are connected? got an gportal server
it's only worse if you do not have good network
its limited to 300kBps even at ultra setting iirc which make it 2.5Mbps equivalent
i.e it will work fine on any kind of good network
but will be bad if your network can't take it
I believe you can inside of satisfactory.
@main thunder The port checker is stating the port is closed interestingly
tcp ?
Check the port forwarding on your router. Make sure you've set both UDP and TCP.
and firewall *
You only need the 7777 port, so you should be able to close the others.
ok Thanks Monkey you made me rethink an option i was using the TCP/UDP option in my router so I split it out to seperate TCP and UDP port settings, working now
Thank you for your time
Cool! Have fun! :)
Does anyone know where I can find documentation on the console commands? :)
is it possible to make the server capacity up to 8 people atleast?
You can, how are you hosting your server?
Any network experts that may have some ideas to help me fix the API issue?
im using my vps to reverse proxy and use tunnlto so my friends can join since im behind cgnat and it wont login to the api
Short...ipv6. all ports open. Tests from outside can see all communication open, using IP gives server name and ping alongside API connection issues. (Not authenticated)
Does that add much ping?
depends on how fast your vps mine is on 100mbps only and it has 2 discord bots running and its on 100 ms idk why
i might upgrade to a 200mbps
I'm on a 1g fiber. I'm also behind a CGnat which is why I tried using IPv6 which is not on the CGnat
thanks
sadly we dont have ipv6 yet i think
I would honestly prefer to use the method you're using now but I don't really know how to set it up would you be willing to help me figure that out?
yes i can make a video for you all
That would be awesome thank you If I could see that I might be able to get this damn thing up and running
but your friends need to install tunnlto too and you have to make a wireguard vpn config for them
Thankfully my router has wire guard built in so I shouldn't be too hard to set up some guidance
shouldn't dedicated servers still be processing things even with no one logged in?
As in, it's pausing the game for you?
idk if thats a hassle or not
That's a setting you can enable/disable in the admin panel.
i'm not sure if it is or not, asking pretty much
The server shouldn't stop working, that means it has crashed. If it's still running but the game isn't progressing (visible by the playtime not increasing), this means there's nobody online and the game has paused.
yeah i think it was pausing
[2024.09.13-10.55.53:613][395]LogServer: Error: FMultiBindDatagramSocket failed to read data from underlying socket Unreal: SE_ECONNRESET
normal on dc?
ok then give me few minutes ill make a video real quick
ill beback
it seems to crash when I dc
because if i reload the game i can't connect after I dc with 127.0.0.1 ip
even though dedicated server console is running
There's been discussion recently on Windows servers crashing when the Admin disconnects. I think they are still trying to get to the bottom of it, but with so many messages, it's been hard to keep up
Only happens when Client and Server are on same PC
(which is not recommended anyway)
that is the only way i can do it
It's a Dedicated Server, it's designed to run on separate hardware
i've ran plenty of games with dedicated servers on the same PC and it works fine
I join the discord becurse of this.
the server works but it stop lissening to port 7777 and it dosent work on other dedicated servers and dosent need to be admin who discconects.
Minecraft & Ark are 2 common ones and i have 64gb ram
Ark is built on the same engine and doesn't do this so it clearly is a knowledge/programming problem
and it loads stupid amounts of data with mods ๐
I didn't say it wasn't a coding issue, I just said that running both on the same HW seemed to be a symptom
yeah, that is possible
i'll just do it as good practice to restart the server when I DC.
sucks, but if it works around it. np
Alternatively I'm still open for reasons why the API error could still be popping up
I mean if I could figure that out it would be easier for people cuz then all they have to do is type the IPs in
Yes, it's a known issue with running a dedicated server on the same system you're playing
Port issue, ultimately
It means your 7777/tcp port is blocked
Qsadly. They are open. Tested and confirmed from the outside multiple times. It makes no sense
believe it or not, i am:
Stream + Camera + Dedicated Server + Client + Twich open + Youtube open and I am finally hitting frame problems at the end of Tier 8.... so... pretty amazing overall with how much is going on.
Send your launch command + environment information
I could share the IP with you if you wanted to test it yourself and you can see the same thing everybody else has I'm just at a loss I can't even fath them why that might be happening
Sure thing give me a few minutes I'll have to head upstairs and put the computer up again
I'll send it in the DM in a couple minutes here I just got to go collect it all again
ive got a weird one, dedicated server on a box in my local network, everything fine and dandy yesterday, then the #366202 updated rolled out, now my (again; local network) ping fluctuates between 20 and 300, making the game a lot less fun to play, according to my servers (hardware) own stats, it's not even breaking a sweat, 4% cpu usages, around 4gb ram (of the 128gb available), networking usages is sub 2mb on a gigabit connection... no indication why the ping is so high most of the time, (it's in the low 20s when im standing idling, looking at the server manager screen) as soon as i start moving, sliding, jumping around, it'll jump up to 150/200+... pre the last update everything was fine and i had a < 10 ping (as it should be on a local network), looking at it right now, it's 39, 27, 44, 16, 14, going back the the game, do one slide and jump, instant 141+ - can't even climb the ladder of a storage container, it instantly teleports me back down ๐
i require assistance to do with saisfactory dedicated server
proxmox ve hypervisor running server 2016 (windows) using steam cmd anao login ports 7777 15000 15777 are all fowarded via windows firewall
error is failed tls handshake cert is too new
You only need 7777 UDP and TCP now since the 1.0 release
network is via linux bond and bridge
gilgamoth apperciate that but i am trouble shooting with firewall off.
just listing them for completeness sake
Make sure that your server is up to date, they have released a patch to fix that very issue
i have ran the update for the correct ap ID
it has not resolved my issue
ill grab the exact script im running
there are a few pins is it in this channel?
while im not using docker i am running on a linux hypervisor this may resolve my issue ill fire my vm backup and test it
i assume i add this to the batch file ?
-ini:Engine:[HTTPServer.Listeners]:DefaultBindAddress=any
and ill change my firewall to 7777 only thank you
It's not a docker issue, it's a linux issue
odd that it appears inside a windows VM
reported ping is a none issue if your gameplay is fine
currently the api ping is high for some reasons does not mean the server is not working
Somebody has an Idea to fix? I forwarded Port 7777 for my Server (Windows PC, Steam GUI) (Both Router and Windows Firewall udp+tcp)
First one is over LAN IP
2nd over WAN ipv4
and 3rd is WAN ipv6
Sorry I missed that it was windows
Most firewalls won't allow you to use your external IP internally, so "working as should"
so even tho it is infact windows server 2016 the translation may be killing it
Also cpu load must be reported per physic thread
otherwise 100% use on a 128 thread cpu would only show as 0.8% load even though it's capping full thread
ok
this is a NAT issue if they dare to add a loop back it will work but is pointless work just use internal ip
Also make sure that your VM is running with CPU Type as Host, as that's a known ProxMox issue
literally being teleported back down stairs and rubberbanding like crazy, this wasnt an issue before the latest update
so yes, it deffo impacts gameplay
thats best pratice for windows dw i got that sorted
then talk about that
Also i still have this one, wasnt this fixed yesterday?
@tight girder thanks for your help 2016 is taking ages to update so hopfully i get to look at it soon hahah
If you still have an issue, I'd suggest posting in https://questions.satisfactorygame.com, I don't think the Dev's track issues here as there are too many messages to watch
it still happens but to my experience, you just have to refresh a couple of times to make it work
this is likely simply your router lacking hairpining, ultimately external connection must be tested from external connection
or if u have an enterprise router add a loopback
just hotspot your pc with your phone and test
(assuming your PC isnt running the server)
I just tried over Hotspot but now they are all offline, even though i opened the port
@hasty girder is the server on your PC or another PC
another PC
you should (re)check forwarding and firewall rules then
are you testing with firewall disabled on the pc
how do i do this? Never needed that for Minecraft
(ONLY FOR TESTING) go into firewall and advanced settings
their server firewall is likely fine as ipv6 connected successfully
sorry what?
may be that bro is on cgnat
report it on the questions site then
I mean last line with hint against the 7 other line talking about reported ping
I just pointed that you must primarily talk about the actual experienced problem so it gives more credit to your questions and also more context for help and troubleshooting
im trying to be thorough with background information because no one ever is in tech support, and then it gets thrown back into my face? wow
just wow
well, i tried
@ornate grotto the work around did not work same error certifcate verify result certificate is not yet vaild :?
ok I disabled it, but still all offline
- I didn't say the information you give was an issue whatsoever
- I'm not a coffee stains employee and I'm just giving my cents
- I'm just pointing that, so other people and yourself can better see everyone else perspective (not having details on your actual experience), and so help better communicate your problems
No unfortunately, LAN still works, Ipv6 gives API error (I used all my Handcrafting Power on the refersh button) and, ipv4 still offline
on this same connection minecraft works yes?
(need to see if your on cgnat otherwise this is pointless)
atleast i now know its the router
correct what kind of router is it?
its not somthing with pre and post routing is it, nothing enterprise etc just bog standrad?
xiaomi-5g-cpe-pro-ax5400
if you want ipv6 outside connection
you likely have to open the port for it in router's firewall
which is different than ipv4 forwarding rules
double check that your forwarding rules go to your server machine and are opening both UDP and TCP on same port
everything must be same port
does it ask for the incoming port>
So 192.168.0.50 is your server machine ?
please edit the rule and attach screenshots
i cant
?
I can create or delete old rules
it's portrange
Thank you for your time but when i think about it its not so urgent. I can just stay by the status Quo and just let my 2nd Steam Account host with min Graphics
question. I made a clean instalation of a dedicated server. I log in for the first time after world generation and my character logs in with a bunch of stuff in his inventory and a "welcome back pioneer" message.
I assume the inventory is from when I was messing around on earlier build of the server on this machine when I was figuring out if everything worked as intended.
How do I make sure all players joining have a clean slate to start with?
this is port filter
Not really related to the Satisfactory dedicated Server
you cant really
Google can help you to underatand your Fritzbox
Server start at Tier 1 for now, so you get some start equipment
okay not a bug but a feature. thank you for clarifying
isn't it still tier 2
but they might change it
the bug is it's tier2
my Server started at Tier 1
mine started at 1
What you could do is just host over the client from Tier 0
and then just upload the save
ooh interesting
ah i figured that i am on cgnat. I changed from Cable to 5G Internet that could be the issue
yeah i read, unfixable without lots of hustle
np thanks for the help
guys... can i ask please: mz server shows players 2 from 4 how i can change it to atleast 8 players?
I have download the dedicated-server app from steam and I am unable to create the server in satisfactory 1.0 and connect to it, then I will exit out of satisfactory and then will run satisfactory load back in the server game I created, but it know offline???
a little discord search would give you the solution ๐
-ini:Game:[/Script/Engine.GameSession]:MaxPlayers=8
Thank You
in the command window that the dedicated server show this ":[2024.09.13-11.44.44:218][791]LogServer: Error: FMultiBindDatagramSocket failed to read data from underlying socket Unreal: SE_ECONNRESET" other stuff
Is there some know issue with the 1.0 that is causing the created server to be online and then next time loading satisfactory the manager server view is showing
It's known issue https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/66e08561772a987f4a8a9d67 but not solution or workaround atm, afaik
r u running dedi on same machine as the game?
Hi
in the vidรฉo on dedicated server, they said we are supposed to have access to the unreal console, but I still have the old one.
can someone tell me why&
?
Getting this on IPv6, even though port 7777 is open on TCP and UDP (tested from external network)
Windows firewall exceptions added as well
Anyone have any advice on this?
cgnat
Why would an ISP use CGNAT on IPv6?
Hello, my server is running but i can't connect even tho i added rules to my firewall and router ๐ฆ
Nevertheless - shouldn't be the case with ipv6:7777 available from external network
sorry i agree but trying to route ipv4 will never work
also some old ass carriers still dont have ipv6 cough cough some aussie providors
i got 1gbps fiber and no ipv6 lol
real
in america
Gonna need more information for your issue
IPv6 is related to the issue I am having
anyone got an idea about the API cert issue, im running windows server 2016 on proxmox VE
This is the console, i'm using epic to run the game, not using the epic dedicated server tho.
Listening to port 55555 because my router cannot open port under 20xxx
you cant connect even via lan?
Anyways, I do have IPv6, shows in ip6.me and such, externally checking port 7777 on the IPv6 is open, confirming that my inbound rule to allow traffic to 7777 works
I add server with ipv6 on my machine and I get "Failed to connect to Server API"
localhost and LAN IPv4 work. IPv6 does not (with this issue ^), neither on proper IPv6, nor on link-local
hey...I setup a tailscale to try and make my server work. no friends available right now for testing..
anyone here willing to test it for me?
NOthing seems to work no
to add to my issue above, tailscale IPv4 seems to work
Just make sure you have a direct connection with your clients (tailscale status)
be a bit more specific?
Trying...but im still a bit confused by tailscale... hence needing someone to test things with me to make sure ive done it right
require assistance to do with saisfactory dedicated server
proxmox ve hypervisor running server 2016 (windows) using steam cmd anao login ports 7777 are all fowarded via windows firewall
error is failed tls handshake cert is too new
Is both TCP and UPD 7777 open?
that enough?
You only need port 7777 on TCP and UDP now.
as a note you can't run dedi and game on same computer
yup! and destination is the right IPv6 and whatnot
if you guys are having issues being able to connect once, and then you leave you can no longer connect
yeah might not be the case under linux tho
My setup doesn't use ipv6 but I think there are some things in the pins on this channel about ipv6 if you have not already looked at those.
yes i was tearing my hair out wondering why the hell every time I left the server it just stops working I'd have to restart it
Additionally, a dedicated server will bind to 7778 on UDP on IPv6 and a random port on TCP on IPv6. These are NOT critical and you can safely ignore them, but we will address that in the future.
goddammit
Yeah I thought I remembered something weird about ipv6 stuff.
TCP being random doesn't sound like a good time tbh
as long as its not open on your firewall
other members in this channel helped me figure that out. Still dont understand it really. But its been explained to me to be a unique to IP6 issue...
Either way it's odd since on ip6:7777 it can find the game
very
alright, ipv6 shenanigans, thanks
I spent 3 days seeing it on ip6 with friends but never getting past the api or connection issue
gave up and now im trying to learn tailscale... but thats all new to me too
- install on host machine -> authenticate
- install on client machine -> authenticate
- use tailscale's IP to connect
pretty much that's it
ive done those then...
where can i change the "max. Players" for the server?
I can connect with my ipv4 but not with public IP while port have been forwarded ๐ฆ
require assistance to do with saisfactory dedicated server
proxmox ve hypervisor running server 2016 (windows) using steam cmd anao login ports 7777 are all fowarded via windows firewall
error is failed tls handshake cert is too new @barren raven
Would you mind using my tail IP to see if you can connect?
Game.ini file.
My friend can't find the server, so frustrating
check out tailscale dot com/kb/1082/firewall-ports if tailscale status shows relay instead of direct, you might need to allow 41641/udp
only devices on the same tailnet can connect to one another
so that would mean to invite me to your tailnet
So I need to give everyone an invite too then
The only thing that would be stopping this is if all the ports are not forwarded correctly. port 7777 TCP and UPD only. Double check.
Im willing to do that if if means a successful test.
yeah, tailscale uses 100.64.0.0/10 subnet for tailnets
You should have about 20 different .ini files in that location.
require assistance to do with
My router cannot open these port min 20000
and I dont think those won't be accessible from a different tailnet
then I could find the subscription option if it works to add more users
ahh ok. so gotta find someone without a tailnet yet for testing.
so you should be good
no problem
Start the server connect to it then load into the game. Then go back to main menu save the game via the server manager. Then do a quit commande on the server manager console. Then check this location again.
I have port 7777 TCP and UDP enabled but not sure why is having this error, does anyone have any guidance on this?
you can test yourself
if server is on the same machine as client
install and configure tailscale
What is your startup command and what port exactly did you open?
and in game use tailscale IP to connect
yea. I have my main machine on tailnet and the server and it worked. I still wanna try from outside though
it should work, I have tested it myself that way
the server has been running since 1.0 update and 3 people have already played on it
3 days of failures has me...anxious lol
PS E:\satisfactory> ./FactoryServer.exe -port=55555 -log -unattended
55555 is open
I think the only reason for it not to work from outside is not being able to establish a direct connection so just set up the tailscale client on your friend's machine and they should be good to go
So...will they need to install tailscale too or just use my invite from my server link?
Have you quit it from the server manager console? This is the only way I know to force generate those file. If the server doesn't generate those files for you then it will not work.
they'll need to have tailscale client installed
55555 TCP and UPD?
Yep
anyone else got the issue when deleting walls etc. you ahve to rejoin so they are really gone?
So anyone found a fix for desyncing objects like walls and foundations yet? A dev said in the chat a year ago to use [ConsoleVariables] wp.Runtime.EnableServerStreaming=0
in the engine.ini file and was wondering if anybody had tested this out yet to see if it works
and the invite would be to your tailnet (i.e. so their account has access to your subnet)
Have you double checked with an external website or tool that scans your public ip for open ports while the server is running?
Port 55555 is open on *************
It is, yes
just enter "exit" as a command?
Then it should be working. What do you see on the server console when you try to connect?
Quit.
I think I understand. Thank you. Gonna need them to start testing. man long day of waiting now
good luck
I can connect, my friend cannot join, server seems offline for him, send him my public ip and 55555 as a port
Yes but what does the server console look like when he tries to connect? Do you see anything from his IP trying?
ok thanks of lot
Nothing appears in the console
You see the files now
yes
i write
MaxPlayers=10
and has saved
server start and Player 0/4
Check if the external IP on your router is the same as your public IP.
I'm hoping this issue is fixed pretty soon because it can get real bad. It's a bit strange that it seems to be a pretty common issue that only occurs on dedicated servers especially since they've fully released dedi serv yet they feel a bit buggy right now
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=10
keep in mind, though, that the issue of server going offline after client from the same host as server disconnect also happens if you connect to the tailscale IP
shouldnt be an issue for me
Yes it is, i double checked it. That's why i can't understand why it's not working, i've asked my friend and he sceenshared me, he does enter the good ip/port combination
My server is run on a dedicated R740 sitting in the garage
Your are 100% sure they match. Those only time I have seen it not work with everything forwarded correctly is when the ISP is using CGNAT IP.
ok now thank of lot
allright
is that enough to update the server or does it need to be done in a different way? (1.0 and forward using steamCMD)
I got rid of my "server offline" problem. Creted a ubuntu VM and followed a guid to set it up. works greate now.
it is not "get another computer so solved" I had the issue with separate windows machine aswell
You should do the same thing you did to install it as updating it.
hmmm im getting a failed to SSL state for socket
ty
yes i am, trying to see if my ISP is using CGNAT
You should be able to tell by looking at the external IP on your router. If is in the 100. block is prob CGNAT. If it is CGNAT then you will not be able to host a server.
Your time/date is messed up somewhere. Check your timezone setting maybe?
no my date time is synced to my DCs
both are synced to microsoft
but ill see if proxmox is being stupid
that might be it proxmox thinks is 9am tmr
ofc i didnt set f NTP for the hypervisor omfg
Narrator: it was proxmox being stupid
we will see just getting my chrony file now
is it odd that I always imagine the narrator has an english accent?
it's always Morgan Freeman
I relaunch everything and it works now, my friend crashed on login but i think we're fine
Weird but thats good.
Thank you for your help, does the server stays running when we're offline ?
I heard 1.0 servers have a new api, what can I do with it
Thats a setting in the server manager. auto pause i believe.
there is a pin but: https://github.com/wolveix/satisfactory-server/wiki/Official-API-Docs
@storm ember When they DL and install tailspin.... how do they connect to my "network" it seems to be forcing them to their own
send them the invite link to your tailnet
no
thats what I thought I did...
I don't seem to be able to type anything in the satisfactory server console - what am I doing wrong?
Are you the admin? And you are using the Server Manager console window right?
oh...im so dumb...I thought you meant the cmd window of the actual server....no I didn't even think about the console in the in game server manager
anyidea how to reset the cert for the server
i fixed my proxmox time
but the cert is still the previous one
Got it. Share machine...they skip setup and its good after they make an account. Successful test! Buddy got into the Dedicated server!
Uhm reinstall maybe? Or you have to troll through the files till you find it.
sigh il just reinstall
FYI if anyone else runs into this issue that the server crashes when creating a new world. Using Proxmox on host machine and dedicated server in a debian VM with SteamCMD. Changing the VM CPU type from default (kvm64) to "host" fixed the issue for me.
any idea how to steam cmd uninstall?
granted he had 65 ping... which is high for when we normally direct connect. But totally acceptable!
once they fix the ipv6 option it will be even better. thank you @storm ember
apt_uninstall maybe? I just rm -f the directory.
in windows ill just delete and reinstall
Yeah the game save goes to a different place then the game so blowing everything away should be fine.
havent played since 0.5
so no save
just getting it working but thanks renstalling got gigabit so non issue
Well, each time i dc from the server, i need to restart it, he appears offline
That is a know issue effecting some people. unlucky.
Okok, thanks
can you set your server to accept Domain names or does it not care and its doen via cname
is there any known issues for linux dedicated servers since 1.0? cause my server seems to be up but not shown up ingame as server
I need to figure this out as well... I should have things plumbed up to connect external via a cname, but right now I can't even connect via my internal IP address... I have to use the hostname of the NAS I'm hosting it on...
chill i use freemyip for dynmaic DNS and uch prefer giving my domain over my non static ip
any suggestions
@chrome pumice i uninstalled the entire folder and its still has the cert
is it in the MMC / can i remove it
found it
Aside from making sure your startup command is up to date, not really - they removed the need for Multihome, BeaconPort and QueryPort
So the startup should really just be the FactoryServer.sh file (or the binary file that sh file runs, either or) with -Port=(Your server port) as an argument added
no problem, glad it works out for you
Hi, i started dedicated server on steam and connected myself, how my friends can connect ? my ip:7777 ?
hey. I am following the installation instructions from the SteamCMD page, and after running this command:
sudo add-apt-repository multiverse; sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386; sudo apt update
I get this as a response to sudo apt install steamcmd :
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Package steamcmd is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'steamcmd' has no installation candidate```
Steam cmd doesn't seem to be downloaded, but I don't see any troubleshooting help on the SteamCMD page so wanted to know if any1 knows what im doing wrong.
I am using ubuntu on an Oricle Cloud server. Basically a fresh install aside from port forwarding being set up
hmm no i always started up without any parameters without problems
@chrome pumice cant get the cert to reset manually set my time to 6pm GMT 0 and it all works now ill go to sleep and the cert will be valid tmr XD
Every single time my server "restarts" because it has that 24 hour timer, it doesn't come back up
did you do apt update ?
^^
and if i am in the game, and i exit the server, and i go to click the server in the server manager, it just crashes the server
yes
if the CPU are x84_64 it migth be repo issue.
read a bout a simillar problem when the repo got prio of -1
i think the cpu is arm?
I dont think Arm can use the steamcmd package
โ ๏ธ
then it will probably not work
realistically you can just download SteamCMD itself
"arm:
then run it with the args at the end
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/SatisfactoryDediv1.0/ +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
Success! App '1690800' fully installed.
./FactoryServer.sh -multihome=192.168.1.66 -Port=17777 -log
CL#366202
I still get the "cannot connect to server API". I thought it was fixed?
it will not do it since its arm
ex: ./steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir "/SatisfactoryServer" +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
remove Multihome
arm is not supported
Like by satis?
Hey all, saw that there was version mismatch for the server this morning. I see that there was a patch pushed on the client side 3 hours ago, but it doesn't look like the dedicated server received an update in steam DB. Is this in flight?
ill try
I couldve swore steamcmd itself will run on Arm, just not the built in package xD
by neither satis nor steam, and steam can't even start to work with box86 virtualization
huh, the more ya know
^ so this is basically the only comment for arm
problem persists
https://steamdb.info/app/526870/depots/ The main games public branch hasnt gotten an update in 22 hours, server hasnt gotten one in 14 hours (https://steamdb.info/app/1690800/info/)
Way more likely either your client or server is out of date
i think i saw someone say once that its possible since someone has done it, but idk
how many vcpus is enough for a 3 player server (windows 2016) i gave the vm 20gb of ram i assume thats enough
not with steamcmd
thats all that should be needed. Is the port open to both tcp and udp?
you need to prepare the package out the arm machine on a x86-64 one, then provide the game in tuned virtualization layer, on a powerful machine
Or just download the files with Depot Downloader xD supports arm as of 2.5.0
which means only few% of any real arm machine can actually run it, and it even need extreme tuning and experimental workaround
but running the game on it would just be jumping through hoops - so not really worth
I am looking at it right now --
dedi: https://steamdb.info/app/1690800/history/
game: https://steamdb.info/app/526870/history/
tried a forced update in LinuxGSM, but it says I am on the most recent build.
17777/tcp ALLOW Anywhere
17777/udp ALLOW Anywhere
Server manager has different things to say about it:
20GB is going to be barely enough for very big save, but you should be ok for a long time, and more player does not necessarily increase the number of core needed nor ram
it will simply grow the save faster as you are multiple people to work on it, and will increase cpu use, but not scale with number of core
so stick with 4-8vcpu and keep in mind 8vcpu is already overshoot
already ran a validate on the client as well ?- the update from 3 hours ago youre seeing isnt related to the game itself its just updating steam info
Ones that change builds show more info (ex)
chill ill do 6 vcpus and 40gb of ram, luckily i have a 384gb hypervisor
..huh
pop me your server ip?
I'll give it a go, I can connect to my own fine xD

sure -- i'll dm
yeah that.. should be it ๐ id assume other servers on that machine are working fine?
You could also try just adding -ini:Engine:[HTTPServer.Listeners]:DefaultBindAddress=any
i ran pre 1.0 just fine
which really shouldnt be needed
then you will be pretty much very fine, and have room, the only issue you may have is not fast enough cpu
but it fixes that xD
its a 16 core xeon system from 2016 so there not the fastest in the world but they are the "frequency optimized ones"
then it will not be butter smooth but should do it
1.0 is better in that regard compared to older updates
i think storage will be the issue need an excuse the upgrade from 8x 15krpm sas disks anyway
update 8 servers struggled even on 7800X3D
7800x3d isnt a great server cpu tho?
storage will never be an issue, savefiles are highly optimized
i mean my last save ran fine on a 6700t
really good to know
it is for satisfactory, keep in mind the server is running unrealengine
data server != game servers
real, it much prefers single core eh?
yep
that's why it's been a time now that datacenter provides with gaming cpu host for game servers
^^ Same reason the bare minimum chips we put into our new machines at BH are all ryzen 7000 series ๐
That boost clock is phat
i got this hypevisor free from work so ill take my E5-2667 and leave ๐คฃ
Another game was running into issues on specifically i5s and i9s; if the server ran with either of them it just failed to start ๐คฃ
thanks for the help guys got it all working anyway !
plus the recent fiasco where intel chips burned themselves over time? eesh
@nimble wraith trying to buy some 3d vcahe cpus for database workloads for work cant wait to see them rip
fastest 16 core to meet ms licencing
For what? Your screenshot looks good to me I am not sure what the issue is your having.
sorry yeah i was able to figure it out, not enough coffee yet but thank you
Build: ++FactoryGame+rel-main-1.0.0-CL-366202
is this the hotfixed version (multihome hotfix)
believe so? Lemme check my server vers rq
Any big advantage of playing multiplayer through a server instead of hosting through "single player"?
anndd apparently mine felt like validating itself when I restarted it ๐ love that
I'll letcha know when its finished xD
the biggest save I've seen in my life, a 2400hours world
Preference? One requires youre around when others can play, whereas hosting it on a remote machine or another pc in your house allows players to connect whenever they want - even if youre out of state
[2024.09.13-14.40.10:687][ 0]LogNetVersion: Set ProjectVersion to ++FactoryGame+rel-main-1.0.0-CL-366202. Version Checksum will be recalculated on next use.
Yeppers
if you put the update command inside the service file launch commands, you may want to remove validating from it, as I think it will validate every start
Also if you work any the boys want o get on
yeah wasnt related to that lol I edited the acf file earlier and forgot, so steamcmd got confused on boot
Meaning less sync-problems?
also, custom panel that I work on backend ๐ pretty hard to accidentally add it to the steamcmd args
Less EVERYTHING problems (that's using acutal server hardware tho not just a pc)
Truth
Okay thank you all
honestly if a game has server support, I use that over self hosting it via the ingame Host options every time
I get annoyed when my friends dm going I wanna play but im in bed ๐คฃ
sorry I dont understand the "o get on" phrase
To get on*
I think it was a typo - Also if you work and any of the boys want to get on
As in if your self hosting you don't need to be on 24/7
@nimble wraith in bed now phone is doing wonders for my typing
(ops bad reply)
do you get
[2024.09.13-14.43.00:212][ 0]LogOnlineSchema: Error: Invalid schema category lobby: Service descriptor id lobby not found.
[2024.09.13-14.43.00:212][ 0]LogOnlineSchema: Error: Invalid schema category lobbymember: Service descriptor id lobbymember not found.
[2024.09.13-14.43.00:212][ 0]LogOnlineServices: Error: [FLobbiesCommon::Initialize] Failed to initialize schema registry
on server start?
yeah but im pretty sure those are totally ignorable
wording police there, you used "self-hosting" for client game direct connection multiplayer session, which is misleading
as hosting here refer to running the server software
selfhosting is meaning running the server software on your own hardware (usually spare machine) instead of getting a game server provider service subscription
np!
no youre right it wasnt the right term haha
my bad ๐
version mismatch fixed now?
what are all of the ports I need to open?
just the base one 7777 or whatever you decide to define via -Port
for me it was 7777, 15000 and 15777
pretty sure 15000 and 15777 were the beacon and query ports, no?
Those arent used as of 1.0
ah yeah probably from when those were used haha
but isnt it supposed to be "if you do not work" instead ?
no, because the perk of hosting the server is that if you Are at work and the boys want to get on; they can
do you run the default (7777) port?
anyone has info if version mismatch is fixed now? does steamdb got updated for dedicated servers now?
nah I run em off my servers @ work so the port is never default xD
my current one is underrrr... 2305?
I havent gotten one, should be fine
There was an issue earlier, but afaik its been resolved
I guess you also have "save sovereignty" if you host your own, personally most of thr time paying for someone else to host it seems pointless.
only one port now 7777 both tcp and udp
I have the server online and running, I am currently connected and playing within a world. but the server shows "server name pending" and "not authenticated" and "offline".
I just dont let others because I hold onto all my long term saves lol
sorry I got it backward about what you were talking about, I thought you suggested using your actual server machine
Got a dropbox with like 40 different games save files lol
ah nono, we're both giving the perk of why to host it instead of use your own PC xD
i did steamcmd installation but how can my friends join my server ?
please man put that in a closet or something ๐ญ
give them the ip
its so big
and open the ports
xD
- Start server
- Use IP:port to connect
It's going in the hall way roof @nimble wraith
Yeah this came up earlier, their server wasnt grabbing the steam update cause the process for the server was still running afaik
An update released yesterday, but there hasnt been anything since then
i killed the process and sudo rebooted my server
Well I can tell you the servers have the 366202 update, my own is running it right now xD
and i did app_update and validate
Try reinstalling it in another folder? just move over your save if there is one
Something on that server setup is causing it to not grab latest, why it isnt could be a slue of reasons
You sure your updating the correct directory?
also this xD
heard that arm is not supported, but has anyone found a way to make it work with steamcmd?
your poor ears.... I slapped some noctuas on my xeons and threw it in an e-atx case and have never looked back.
until they message you telling you they can't log during your standup..
yeahhhhh ๐ญ unfortunate truth lol
If I log out from my server, it enters a pause state via CMD. How does one interact with the CMD to allow the server to start again without opening and closing it?
is server API udp?
hello
Game.ini
Add this to the command used to start the server
-ini:Game:[/Script/Engine.GameSession]:MaxPlayers=8
It's a setting in the server manager.
can someone help me
You need to update the server.
what is "error missing token encryption" ? my friend cannot join server
No you need to update your server.
i have just create it from nitrado
it's just new
Hey guys, can you upload mods to dedicated servers in a format where it auto organizes on upload?
q. I have question. My frien (steam) hosts the world , and everyone except me use steam ver too. I have EGS version. When host enables IP mode for game , nobody except me is able to connect. How can we fix it?
If you are getting a version mismatch after new creation from nitrado then you need to contact them to get it updated.
ok
i try to reinstall all the server from nitrado
My friend can't add my server. (NOT SOLVED)
I have a Steam tools dedicated server on Win10. I have opened my firewall for port 7777 for both TCP and UDP on both Outbound and Inbound. I have port forwarded on my router for TCP/UDP on port 7777 (and tried 70-80).
I claimed the server in the server manager. Two of my friends could join the server (playing on steam, not on the same network) through my IP in the server manager on port 7777. My game and server are updated to the latest version.
Another friend tries to add the server with the same IP and port 7777 (and tried with others between 70-80). But instead of the certificate confirmation instead it has "Server name pending" and "This server appears to be offline". He can join other servers through their IP, but not add mine.
He has tried restarting everything. He has refunded the game on Epic and tried it on Steam, same issue.
I just created a server (hosted at G-Portal), claimed it, configured it, uploaded a fresh save and joined.
I myself can join just fine, however my 2 friends get "Encryption token missing" one on Steam, one on Epic, both have the same issue.
any tips?
There is a new update ?
Yesterday yes
Okay so no new update my bad, thanks
Dedicated server crashing when any player leave
i have the same problem as here
https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/66e344ae772a987f4a8ae185
Restart his client. Not sure what else to do. That's odd.
very odd
I have a problem with connecting to a dedicated server I just set up.
Connecting from the internal network works, however trying to connect from external does not work. This would make me think it's a port forwarding issue. However I just reused the port 25565 from the Minecraft server we had running previously, and connecting there works. Firewall rules for both TCP and UDP are set up for the port.
Using Test-NetConnection on the IP and Port also gives me back a "True". Anything else i could try?
does server api care about servertime and system time difference?
So in the new version is there no longer Multiplayer Settings in the options menu once you connect to the dedicated server locally?
its been bugging me a little bit:

no
bought on xlgames
error screenshot
oo, sorry bro
FYI, that's probably your ip
good call
not mine but yeah ip
friend ip
no
i took tcpdump on my network adapter. i don't see anything in particular that hints why server api cannot connect.
Well, that's normally your ip if it's a remote connection. Or it's the ip of your server.
server one
Anyway, we're you able to connect and play on it and it just kicks you randomly?
@sturdy gust do you know if server API is using UDP or TCP+
Is mine craft still running? You can only listen on 1 port
Normal that all enemies spawn after respawn ?
server kick everyone when someone leave
one player dont have that issue
An, I've seen that mentioned here a few times. I don't know if there's a fix or not.
There could be
I am aware. But no, i closed the instance. I figured out the problem though, the port forwarding was only happening on TCP and not UDP. And Test-NetConnection is testing on TCP, and minecraft uses that as well. Still, thank you for the help ๐
Yup, that was going to be my next guess. Good deal
Server API is TCP
Uh, I am having a problem where no one can join my server they enter in the IP and it wont even show up on the list in the server manager. If anyone knows what could be wrong that would be great
we cant find what different between crashing players and stable player
You can test that connectivity by tossing https://<your server ip>:7777 into your web-browser. It should come back with a warning about the certificate not being trusted (and an API error if you click through that) if you've got the ports forwarded correctly.
If it comes back saying it couldn't connect to the server, then your networking config needs work.
Your ports are not forwarded correctly.
old foundations not dismantling desync is really annoying lol (the ones I didnt place in the same session)
have to always relog to have it disappear and be able to build there
hmmmmm, I thought I did that correctly how should they be?
anyone got feedbacks on indifferent broccoli ?
is there no other way to fix version mismatch instead of reinstalling?
Hello, I'm running a dedicated server and I'm encountering some issues (SIGSEGV), any help would be much appreciated. I made a post with all the details:
https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1284178115840708628
server needs update
7777 TCP and UDP
i am updating 24/7 app_update and app_update validate
nothing happening
is the app id correct and file path?
yup
I updated just fine yesterday.
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/home/satisfactory/server +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit
try one by one
I ask file path correct bc I messed that up myself when updating and it made a brand new dedicated server folder
-beta experimental
anyone having a server kill its self after about one minute thirty seconds after booting up?
yes i see
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/home/satisfactory/server +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
- Fixed Version
lemme try
is this warning ok?:
[2024.09.13-16.15.21:016][ 0]LogServer: Warning: Failed to bind Server API Socket 'FGServerAPISocket' To Address '0.0.0.0:17778': SE_EADDRINUSE

rebooting ubuntu rn
I redid that. And it still is having problems do they have to do anything on their end?
yes
its no problem
Do you get an error/crash?
ok
okey can you reach me in dm?
its just on my server my pc is dualboot
sure
No
where might i find a logs folder?
Everything looks fine in that log? It ends with 2 people connected and it auto saving just fine. Maybe verify your install?
client side?
Server side.
how would i do that
Pretty much the same way you installed it.
I set up a server, played for 3 hours, then quit the game, now it says offline, can't open, can you help?
Probably crashed. You just need to restart it.
hey batu, u can reach me in dm
i can help you
we talk same lang. ๐
is the right way to have it setup within the windows defender or I am missing something? (I have it like this for udp and exact same for tcp as well)
If your server is on Windows then you will prob need to do it on the windows firewall and the router firewall.
okay Ill try that thank you
Hey does anyone know how to setup a dedicated serrver?
Me and my friend finally want to do dedicated server instead of hosting
But i have no idea what to do and what to start with
Can someone help out?'
give me two mins im gonna get a sandwich
Any insight into how I can change the forced server reboot at midnight? I already set up a cronjob to restart the satisfactory service at 5am but the server still wants to reboot at midnight which is quite inconvenient.
tysm
np man have a good game โค๏ธ
Always free for me ๐
You can change the time from the in-game server manager. It says it's the interval, it's mislabeled ๐
oh its not the interval but the time when the server restarts?
Yep ๐ It may be in UTC
cool ill nuke my cronjob then
If you get your's working let me know, we're also having an issue getting the server up on a Windows setup with SteamCMD.
your what job ๐คจ
The server manager settings is a clock. 24 hour = midnight not 24 hours after server start.
uh still not working at all, I am trying a different computer in hopes that will work
We even wiped out the server and the entire config on both Windows Defender and the router and reapplied everything. Still can't get the game to show when attempting to connect to it externally. Only way we can connect right now is internal, and when we try the web address it does not load the license error, just times out.
There is also a video in the pins of this channel.
Sounds like a port forwarding or firewall problem
Yeah which we've checked about 1000 times, and we can't see what the problem is.
is anyone else having an issue with getting the settings for the server to stay. We changed the auto pause and on server restart it goes back to default?
run a tcpdump on the server on port 7777 when someone tries to connect from the outside. if nothing comes up its for sure an outside factor.
Yes just keep saving till it sticks. Took mine like 3/4 times.
i got to this part of a server but i can't manage to click authenticate without it saying that the "connection to the server has been lost" --
does anyone know how to get past this?
i see it in ther serversettings.ini, but seems to get ignored on restart
I think mine is related to my routers firewall which is highly restrictive for some reason
Yeah we thought that could be the case too, but before we blew everything out and started over we even tried turning Windows Firewall off and added the device to the DMZ, still got no where.
trying that tcpdump now
Thanks @sullen tulip for the Prometheus exporter you put on Github! โค๏ธ
Is the IP on your router the same as your public IP?
The modem or the router?
Shouldve used linux
It used to be on LInux
Thanks for your thanks ๐
@tepid rock if you need a feature / endpoint or anything else, feel free to contact me or open an issue ๐
Whats the difference between ip and steam multiplayer? is steam multiplayer just like any other normal steam multiplayer on steam servers, where its not using your pc as the dedicated server?
@tepid rock and others: and always ping/@-mention me, because I did not even now before some seconds that I'm on this discord server ๐คฃ
Steam multiplayer is p2p. IP is server based.
Whichever you have.
Well the router is going to have an internal IP, and the modem has the WAN address.
you can evidently find your router ip in cmd prompt
yes that gives you the internal gateway address
Then both need port forwarding. And use the modem IP compared to your public.
ok, so its just like any other multiplayer game on steam, like i wouldn't need a stronger computer to make it run well?
Correct.
The modem IP would be the puplic IP.
would you do that through your router online config?
Not in every case. If your ISP is using a CGNAT IP this might explain your issues.
Someone achieved to install a 1.0 dedicated Server on linux and successfully connecting? In Early Access it worked fine for me now i get api errors in server manager
the wan is not in the 100. range, its 75.176
Ok then back to your port forwarding rules. Something is not working with those.
well the port forwarding is fairly straight forward we have 7777 forwarded to the device and set to both
You are not forwarded all the ports. 7777 TCP and 7777 UDP only.
did you update in-place, or is it a fresh install ?
I had api certification errors before, I solved it by simply clean installing
there have be very significant changes in the server mechanisms package and configuration
it is basically a different software
so i only need 7777 tcp/udp and not longer the 15000?
just using the old savefile directories fine
Correct.
well now its working, 7777/tcp wasnt open
thanks alot
Wiki not up to date tho
Your not looking at the correct wiki. Cause it's uptodate for me. Satisfactory.wiki.gg
the fandom one is deprecated since about a year now
good to know
I followed this and it works like a charm, for Linux:
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers
most issues arise because people didnt fresh install it
yeah you're right, was looking at some other wiki
and have legacy stuff that's borken
I just rm -rf the previously install.
keep the root folder and steamcmd access right on it * though
how many times have you tried and got this? try a couple more times. sometimes steam is janky
Never seen that.
Buh
quick search show it's just out of disk space error
I was almost about giving you a letmegooglethatforyou link
ive seen it in 1 of 4 satisfactory servers im running. i just reinstalled and re configured it and havnt had an issue yet
hat do i do
what
if it is
where you are installing
we are not talking about your bedroom drawer there
I mean to check where you are installing
steamcmd is a cmd steam utility, it's not a location
so you are not using force_install_dir option ?
are you on linux or windows
The disk space on the drive you are installing on.
cause the file wont copy or whatever
windows
That file wont give me the id
for satisfactory
look at the address/location bar
Where is that located
that looks like you're trying to install it to OneDrive man
there you go, the location is onedrive
buh
Brother don't install to OneDrive
Wherre do i change it to
if it was any disk ti would be writtent the disk letter
how
so the "space" is the space on onedrive then
ohh i see the onedrive
(but now you dont want to install on onedrive)
you need to install steamcmd to the hard drive on the machine, you want the server on. You're running steam cmd from your onedrive
Yeh i couldnt find the hard drive location on file manager
or just follow wiki and write +force_install_dir whateverdisk:\..
best advice I can give you is if you don't know how to change where you install things, rent a server
too broke

ill figure it out
you'll have to learn lot of things then
Yes
because you seems to not have at least the file management skillset
then please use that for getting you info on how to manage your files
Any reason why I have to restart my server every time I want to reconnect to it, even though the cmd window seems fine?
what if you do not restart it ?
seems you got hit by the apparently common windows server crash
is it a fresh install ? or did you update from older server ?
dude i just deleted everything on accident ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Oh I guess the server wasn't a fresh install
If your able to use Linux to run your server i would use that, more stable than windows. I use Ubuntu 24.04
and have a lot more builtin tools to manage servers
that is definatly a point of view
Ill make it easy ๐
SteamCMD
sudo add-apt-repository multiverse
sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt update
sudo apt install lib32gcc-s1 steamcmd -y
sudo adduser sfserver
su - sfserver
mkdir satisfactory
cd satisfactory/
steamcmd
force_install_dir /home/sfserver/satisfactory/
login anonymous
app_update 1690800 validate
exit
ls
./FactoryServer.sh
No I donโt disagree. Iโm having massive stability issues on windows
Server stops accepting connections after about 12 hours
Easier with docker x)
you need a decent computer that's mostly the issue. If you run windows it requires more of the computer compared when you run ubuntu for instance
It isnโt a resource issue. This computer runs the game just fine and it isnโt being used for literally anything else
Ijs this server definitely isnโt working right for a LOT of people
speaking of docker, @sturdy gust do you need me to explain it again or
Maybe itโs not their fault
I would say it's working fine for most people.
I have no problem with
I use a dedicated refurbished mini hp computer with 32 GB ram, Windows 11, it works just fine and have for a couple of years now
90% of issues are network related.
Where do I find the session ID in 1.0 ๐ ๐ please I want to play with my friends
95% ๐
Servers don't have a session I'd they use IP.
??
yeah i know but people in #satisfactory are ignoring any question and this channel seems not that far from the questions
to set it up for auto start and update when the VM starts up for the DS
exotwd's right
I know nothing about non server questions. Maybe try the wiki.
stick a killsignal=sigint in there else it just kills the server when stopping
So we tried adding the device back to the DMZ once more and rebooted the router, can still connect to it via internal IP, but not public
the wiki is empty abut the error I'm getting with my friends
What is your error?
good catch didnt even notice that. Thanks
I'm on epic and my friends on steam. I'm hosting.,
Are both parties steam and epic accounts linked?
Just fixed it
only took me fifteen mins
told u
im smart
If I understand correctly, the session ID no longer exists. Either join via IP or via steam or via epic direct
that will create a satisfactory directory in whatever base directory you at with different access rights, and also put the save file in another whole directory which is in the default user home directory because you didnt change the default directory for that user, which makes it hard to manage, at least add a note for the directory and user setup please
I didn't read about that
is there a tutorial anywhere?
and neither will work with dedicated servers
I think you can do it in game. In the settings.
Okay works now that my friends linked their epic account.
not really
Morning folks.
please this is dedicated-servers channel
Thx for the help guys. You were the only goon cave channel that was able to answer
have nothing to do with dedicated servers
for direct/simple multiplayer use #satisfactory channel
sorry, terribly sorry
So we tried a wireshark on the dedicated server and didn't see the external connections coming through, but we could see them attempted on the router logs.
We then just hosted a game on that same network from a normal device and adjusted the port forwarding, I was able to connect to that device.
sounds like the router was eating the traffic
So the router ports are open but the host is not?
It's like the router was somehow blocking the traffic, that's why we added it to the DMZ, but still got nothing.
However hosting a game from another endpoint, not the dedicated server, on the same network works just fine.
Maybe the router is borked?
install openwrt
an other wording for what darkcyco said is : check your server machine firewall
to open both tcp and udp 7777
we turned that firewall off all together so there should of been 0 security anywhere
did you check the listening sockets ?
yup and they are at 7777
hey how are you supposed to know what your server address is once you make it?
but where i find that
Your router should be able to tell you, or if you can console into your server you can get it there. What's the OS?
