#dedicated-servers

Hello, i have a dedicated server running and I have the following issue. It can only be accesed from inside the network even though ports 15777, 15000 and 7777 are open. Any ideas ??
hi i'm having the same issue, have been trying for the last month with no resaut
results
do you host it at your home ?
if yes you need to forward ports and open ports in firewall
Nop, it's on a Debian 12 VM in a Proxmox Dedicated Server
which is not at your home ?
nop, from OVH
then make sure promox expose the vm network and that vm/promox have ports open in firewall
if you set custom ports you should communicate it to your friend too so they change the default when adding the server
(default is 15777)
make sure the vm has enough ressources too (16GB RAM, 4 vcpu, host model vcpu for maximum cpu capabilities/compatibility)
I think proxmox already expose the VM Network and ports already open because i can log in the Satisfactory Server
I didn't change the ports, it's the same by default
I think i'm good with resources (64GB Ram, 8vcpu, host model)
Are the ports UDP or TCP?
I read UDP in the Wiki
If you can log in, there should be no reason why your friends can't unless there is something in the Host or Network settings of your provider that limit access only from your IP
That was the issue for me, problem solved. Thanks
That's all I can see. My first theory was that until a player connected to the VM (SSH, etc.), they couldn't get through. But what could be blocking it?
What did you do ? š
The strangest thing is that it happens to me with other games, not just Satisfactory
I suspect something in the network settings, but as I don't know what Server provider you are using it would be difficult to advise. This is one of the problems with DIY dedicated servers, if you don't understand the concepts behind the NAT and port forwarding, you are stuck trying to seek help, and whilst networking professionals like myself can try, each provider has it's own settings and make up
My Server provider is OVH, the VM is a fresh new from 5 hours ago. I didn't change the port forwarding or the NAT š¤·āāļø
I'm also making a scan of all the ports opened on the VM, just for making sure everything is fine
If you can connect to the VM and play, then that says that the ports are open correctly, just that there is something limiting the connection to your external IP only
I forwarded ports using TCP, changinh it to UDP fixed it for me
I just checked with iptables, and maybe it's because the FORWARD Chain is like that : (policy DROP)?
Just make sure that the SOURCE is ANY and destination ports are 7777, 15000, and 15777 UDP
(if you are using the defaults that is)
I once made the mistake of setting source to the required port number instead of the destination, so even professionals can make mistakes š
Here's my Chain FORWARD now :
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:15777
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:7777
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:15000```
set by hand
Okay ! I'm just waiting for my friends and i tell you if it work š
Good Luck š¤
what you doing when you get that error? just trying to join the game ?
tries to enter a dedicated server
Try upping the Time out value in the Engine.ini
If you google "Satisfactory Client disconnected for Timeout" there are loads of responses of where to make the change, I can't post the link the server won't allow it
those two values control a different behaviour. @ashen star have you set a multihome value in your launch script?
in your start_server.sh file (on my server it's at /home/steam/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/start_server.sh), have you changed the line with
$InstallationDir/FactoryServer.sh
to be
$InstallationDir/FactoryServer.sh -multihome=<your public ip>
and then restarted the server process?
Does anyone run into consistent lag in their dedicated server?
not if you throw a big enough server at it
That's what I am trying to figure out if whether this is a server host issue, or actually a server side issue.
I have 10GB memory, but am using a shared CPU. wonder if it might have to do with another game instance causing this.
we'd get rubber banding and other stuff sometimes as the factory got larger and people were at opposite ends of the map. just make sure it's not a save causing the issue, the server process appears to CPU block when the time comes to save.
So we cheked ! Annnnd still offline for them š¤¦āāļø
Okay, not sure how the OVH hosts work, but have you checked the networking at the control panel level as well as at at the OS level?
I found why ! Until one of my friends SSH in once, they won't be able to join the server. No idea why
Glad you got it sorted
Not yet unfortunately, I have to find out why and how to remove it
Support ticket?
I do not think so. For now, it has nothing to do with Satisfactory. But as soon as I have a solution, I will share it here in case anyone has the same problem as me.
what is this?
nevermind googled it
but it would be enabled for the whole world instead of player by player
Yes
Well actually no
Turning it on at a server level would allow all players to enable/disable any part of ags at will
so its not possible to only allow 1 person to enable it?
Not to my knowledge
Am I trying to put this command in from the wrong area?

mIntValues=(("FG.DisableSeasonalEvents", 1)) in gameUserSettings.ini
ah thank you.
Not dedicated, but on multiplayer one friend gets DC'd every now and then with this error
Are they in a vehicle at the time?
What are both your Network Quality settings? There are suggestions to make sure that you are both set to Ultra
Who wanna play
Hello there totally awesome user! You can checkout #looking-for-group-old and check the pins on how to find folks to play with. <3
Anyone running an experimental server on ubuntu?
I see this posted multiple times but I have not found something that will solve this
I have been putting the mIntValues=(("FG.DisableSeasonalEvents", 1))
in gameUserSettings.ini command in but after a server reboot it replaces it with Network Quality. The files is 444 read only but it still does this.
I added -DisablePacketRouting and it lets me access the server settings, but not join game
Woohoo fixed it. For those wondering what I did. I just added -DisablePacketRouting to the end of my ExecStartPre and I also opened port 15778 on both PC / Router. Idk which one of these two worked, but I can finally connect.
Now, can anyone tell me how I can edit it so I can add more than 4 people.
Im on ubuntu, theres no game.ini
Theres engine.ini
are you locally hosting or through a provider?
Local
Just follow the path to the folder there are two FactoryGame folders.
I did go there, all I saw was engine.ini
Iāll check again soon now that Iāve actually been playing for a little
No clue, best to research it on the net and here.
Hmm.. most answers say to "gracefully quit" aka quit via console and the game will produce the .ini files, but that is not happening
How to set the automatic save time on the server? The original method doesn't work anymore
I haven't adjusted the save time, just the number of saves in the Engine.ini so I know that variable works:
[/Script/FactoryGame.FGSaveSession] mNumRotatingAutosaves=12
I posted this some time ago.
Had to search the channel for "autosave interval"
#dedicated-servers message
Hello, i was disconected from my server and when i logged back in, i was logged in as a new player and my old player is stuck where i was disconected. Has this happened to anyone? do you know how to recover the first player ?
Were you in a vehicle? If not you can just find and kill the offline player. If you were then you can go to the satisfactory calculator website it has a save editing tool you can use to delete the vehicle, once it's gone it should leave an offline player you can kill for your stuff.
I was on a vehicle, ill try the save editing tool. Thanks for the info
That worked, thanks a lot
It's been a while since I've checked, and I'm about to start a new world: do truck routes work on a dedicated server? I know they didn't the last time I tried (sorry if this has been asked a lot)
Hey guys, so I just created my server and got everything going successfully. I am attempting to change the max number of players beyond 4, and have a problem with that.
I am missing the game.ini file which for linux should be located in ~/FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer, but it is not.
I tried doing a "graceful quit" which I read about which is just typing quit into the console so the server can save and exit. I did that multiple times with no luck on producing the game.ini file upon startup. I don't really see any other solutions to fix this. Does anyone know of anything else?
Old message but.. you can create the game.ini file yourself?? If so, I may have to try this.
I think that they are hit and miss since the UE update
Ok, thanks. For now I will plan for trains as my main goods transportation then
I think game.ini was replaced with GameUserSettings.ini in the latest Unreal Engine update
Lmao⦠please tell me this isnāt true š ive been searching since i put the server up yesterday on how to find game.ini
I think there was a message recently that Dedicated Servers would get some love in the next update, but we'll see
I started a new server since the UE update and mine doesn't have a game.ini, so I believe that might be the case on new servers
A lot of WIKI's are pre UE update so all reference game.ini
Hmm⦠have you added more than 4 players or would it be the same as what everyone says for game.ini?
I haven't, there's only two of us on my server š
Dang
Guess ima just have to give it a shot and have my friends join and test
If you change it and join the server, I think it says Max Players when you connect to the server in Server Manager. I'm not in front on my PC at the moment to look
If that doesn't work, you could create a new game.ini file and see if that works
hello. I jsut set up a server and am able to connect on LAN but am unable to see it when using my external IP.
my ports are forwarded properly and I have tried several different port configurations to double check there is no port collision. Not sure what else could be wrong.
I am using a recent asus router and port forward for a number of different servers i host on my network. I am not sure why satisfactory is having problems.
I would appreciate any assistance.
i am using the steamcmd version of the server on a dedicated linux server and am connecting from another PC
Open port 15778 on your router & firewall and then try connecting again
Hmm.. okay Iāll give it a shot. Thank you!
Some firewalls don't like you using the external IP from an internal network, so connecting to the internal IP address whilst behind the same firewall is usually the best option
for reference
You can limit the satisfactory three rules to UDP Protocol
yes those are additional rules to test.
here is what i get using my external IP. Friends are also unable to connect
internal IP gives the server and is able to connect and play
Have you got any local firewall on the Linux server? IPTables or the like?
no firewall
Did you try running it with the "-ā multihome=0.0.0.0" option on the command line?
If you have console access you can also try running "ss -plnu | grep Unreal" and make sure the server is listening on the correct ports. (The above comes from one of the Wiki's so not my command)
Yep I've never changed multihome
Multihome option forces it to use IPv4 instead of IPv6
And my machine is listening on those ports when I run the command
Most new OS's default to IPv6
Sorry my last message was unclear I'm using the flag "-ā multihome=0.0.0.0"
Also I really appreciate the help
have you used this Linux server for other games, or is this the first one? I'm a bit rusty on Linux administration, so bear with me š
Yeah I also host a Minecraft server with no issues + some other non game servers
And you are sure you aren't using iptables or similar on the Linux distro? The only reason I ask is that I would except you to be able to connect locally even if you had no access externally
Network basics, can you ping the IPv4 IP address?
ping -4 192.168.1.136
Iptables is installed but has not been configured and by default allows all traffic
I have to step away but thanks for your help
hello, i have a problem to connect online to play with my friend. what can i do?
hello, I get the following error Attempted to access index 0 from array 'CallFunc_GetPossedCharacters_outPawns' of length 0 in '/Game/FactoryGame/Events/BP_EventSubsystem.BP_EventSubsystem_C:ExecuteUbergraph_BP_EventSubsystem'!
Any ideas ???
I dont have the game.ini file
The issue im having isn't how to do it, it's I don't have that specific file lol
I get these every few seconds, I don't think it's anything to worry about
Hello, is there a console command to set autosave intervals? the wiki command doesn't work
D/R
Nope
@final pike you just need to use an ini edit
Search in this channel for how to do it, its been awnsered 200 times already
Has anyone experience this error in their server? I only started seeing it when I started using blueprints.
I posted this some time ago.
Had to search the channel for "autosave interval"
#dedicated-servers message
guys, my friend is trying to setup a local server for us to play
but i cant join the server
i was able to join already his multiplayer
(after adding a new line on the files)
Has your friend redirected any NAT rules on his firewall from his PC to the new server?
we playing with hamachi
the thing is
i do get into the game but then time out
@floral copper
I'm looking to start a dedicated server for myself and a couple friends, but I've seen some indication online from a few months ago that the dedicated servers might not be stable enough currently for a long playthrough. I also want to be clear, I mean no shade on CS at all, I understand that dedicated servers aren't CS's focus right now (or at least they weren't according to the reddit posts I read about it). Those of you that have experience with dedicated servers, how stable is it currently? Any problems I should know about ahead of time? I just want to make sure it will be good experience for everyone before putting in a bunch of effort to it.
The player experience on dedis has a very beta feel to it
I went ahead and made a dedicated server using a game hosting site I have a server instance on. It is currently running, but when I try to connect to it in game, it says "This server appears to be offline". However, I can see in my server's console that it is accepting connections from my client (it shows my IP address and everything). Any thoughts on what I'm missing/doing wrong?
open ports are often an issue for me
Im Hosting a dedicated on my Laptop. Ive set all port forwarding, and made sure the firewall is good as well. i can connect from a seperate system on a seperate network (my phone hotspot is this case) so i know it is working to some degree. my friends however, just get "Server name Pending" and "this server appears to be offline". Any ideas?
it's an error message. a bit more information what you're doing to trigger the error message, or even when it occurs, would probably help people make more of it.
Hello! I am having what appears to be a fairly unique issue from all the research I have done, hopefully someone here can help. I can no longer connect to a dedicated server that I could access yesterday, I consistently get the standard timeout error message. After about 5 minutes, satisfactory changes the displayed message to āThis server appears to be offlineā. Now here is the kickerā¦. I can connect to it just fine off of a different computer even with the same steam account. However, I canāt play on that computer as it is older and the frame rate is abysmal. Thoughts?
Oh, I also own the server and it is being hosted through indifferent broccoliā¦. Donāt know if that is of any relevance.
Hi gang! I was hosting my dedicated server and had it running last night with a friend, the only issue being I would occasionally disconnect (server still ran, friend was fine)
I tried booting it up today and now it's just closing itself after loading and my logs give the following error
I have to disable my antivirus to get the server to launch at all, and I have done that this time too so it's not that
your friend has mods installed by any chance?
Yo, anyone knows how to broadcast a message from the server console to all clients?
AFAIK you can only do this using the client-side chst system
a friend of mine has a server and he was able to do it somewhow
sadly hes not reachable
any chance the server runs better on a windows machine rather than linux?
Nope
Hi everyone. I'm looking to chip into a server to host it, we're still deciding what provider to use. Any recomendations? and specific requirements we should look out for to ensure that it isint extremely laggy in the lategame? (looking at you shockbyte)
I've heard good things about indifferent broccoli, but I've only ever self-hosted
Shockbyte have sucked everytime I have used them . Slow and laggy. Lowms were not bad , Iām using broccoli now. Hot had an issue yet since doing the fix from a dev in here
look for cpu under-provisioning/under-performing (to be avoided)
and at least 16GB RAM truly available
and somewhat decent networking (steady connection, not data burst managed/over committed)
(that kind of networking issues should be easily avoided these days with big scale at bottleneck points (only bottlenecking at hundreds of machine interconnect))
a 10Gb single connection can handle 1000 game servers easily
and I have one at home (physically)
so any provider network must be decent enough or it's mismanagement
Is it possible to maintain a dedicated server open even if I shut down my pc ?

anyone know what this means?
@fair tendon I am having the identical error with the dedicated server, any update on a fix
anyone know how to add multihome IP address to the steam dedicated server client?
Nope. A dedicated server is basically a computer dedicated to running a multiplayer game 24/7
If this server is my pc, can I play satisfactory While hosting ?
Thanks man. This should help minimize costs!
I made a post in #1038092680493801533
You may be able to, but as the Satisfactory Client uses the same ports as the Dedicated Server, you'd need to run it on non-standard ports. Then your hardware would have to be able to run both the server and game at the same time
Better to have the server run on seperate hardware
Connected to dedicated server which I host, i am getting massive amounts of these messages client side, 100s per second. creating multi-gb log files
Any tips on resolving this?
They did say that Dedicated Servers needed love after Update 8. Doesn't help that they dropped it before a major holiday, but that's life for ya
Are you running Trucks?
yes have a few auto-piloting
Frustrating I know, and I feel your pain.
But they make it clear the game is early access (still in development) and that dedicated servers are experimental.
And if you're playing the experimental version of the game we get a double whammy of experimental on experimental.
There is a lot of work required on dedicated servers IMO.
Update 8 was a major rework of the game to bring it close to the experience of U7.
They could have left it on Unreal Engine 4.
Snutt's Christmas message video shows update 9 is next confirming it's not 1.0 so the devs are going to be continuing to pour more effort into improving the game.
Who knows, update 9 could be the dedicated server patch, we'll see :0)
Arch has stated that they've shifted some development priority back to dedis now
The problem is that splitting off part of the team to make the things the rest of the team is doing work on dedis is rather inneffecient
Hey guys, me and my friend are playing in a server that he host in a machine, and the thing is, sometimes i can join and other times it takes time to load and i cant
we have increased the time that it gives to let me join the server
but we still have same issues
any idea on how to fix it?
Does your friend connect okay every time and does it matter who connects first i.e. if your friend connects first can you then connect and are you only failing when your friend isn't on?
he does
only i have an issue
and if he leaves after i join its fine
but sometimes feels like he needs to be on for me to join
Is the server set to run continous, or pause when no one is online?
its on his machine
we using hamachi
If it's running on his machine, then it's not a dedicated server and it needs his PC to on and running to play, so if he's not on the server isn't running
hooo
so wrong channel sry
i tough it was a server since he was hosting it
No, it's his PC that he's playing on being both the client and the server. This channel is for dedicated servers which don't have the client part
even with this?
Yes that's the dedicated server. Is he trying to run it on the same PC as he's running the full game?
yes
he can play the game fine
That won't work, the server and host both use the same ports
The dedicated server is meant for a separate computer
The server you are connecting to is your friends client which is hosting the server part, hence why you can't play when he's not there
Or at least that's what it sounds like
but the server does show online when he isnt there
but the thing is, i can play when he leaves
You shouldn't be running both on the same HW, probably why you are getting inconsistent results
hmm
but why can i join when he is on the game
but then he can leave the game
and i stay
the only issue is only the first connection
This is a total guess, but Satisfactory uses UDP for network. UDP doesn't check if things that it sends are received, TCP waits for a reply, so it might be that Hamachi isn't connecting properly, or any other myriad of connection issues between you and your friend. Try pinging the IP address of your friends PC to make sure that Hamachi is up and running before trying to connect
this?
That might be the Firewall on his PC blocking PING from your IP
I'm assuming it's Windows Firewall?
Or it could be that Hamachi hasn't connected properly
Like I said above, I'm guessing here without being sat at either machine. It sounds like a network issue rather than a dedicated server issue
If the server is set to only run when a connection is made, and if it's not getting the "wake up" command from you over Hamachi, then when your friend connects it wakes and you can join.
So many if's
Disabled Windows Firewall?
yes
we had both added hamachi to windows defender before
and it looks like still has issues...
The game needs three ports open to work, UDP 7777, 15000 & 15777
y friend says he did setup them up
he is saying he setup two of them in the router
hi frens, I subbed a dedicated server and the game is fine, I played with my friend and all but he got killed and his crate is stuck so I tried looking for a console command for godmode to go in and grab it, i found it and it shows as one of the suggestion when typing console command, but none of them work, I kept dying so i get some rest and disconnect from the server after getting killed one last time, 3 hours later i went back in and my character is on cannot be damaged at all, does anyone know why? I have restart the server but it doesn't do anything at all
Hello - dumb question, who is the best host for Satisfactory
Most of the console commands went away with the U8 release. The best way to do this is stop the server, download the save and then edit it in the Satisfactory Map and Save Game Editor. Once done, re-upload the save game to the server
ah ok, I only started the game like 2 days ago, so I suppose thats already U8, but even then would there still be a chance of it happening
I've "died" underground twice now on a Dedicated Server and had to edit the save to get my stuff back. I believe it's a known issue and they are working on it
I self host, so I can't offer a direct opinion, however a few people have recently suggested Indifferent Broccoli
ahh, well ok, well the item is gone, we have accepted that fate, our issue is that i'm immortal now, idk what to do
A quick google for Satisfactory God Mode says
Ctrl-Shift-L to open the "cheat console". Check the box for "Enable God Mode".
Not sure if this helps or not. Also if you are still showing on the server (it happens some times) that might also affect things.
All of mine and my friends map markers got wiped on our server?
Give it a little while, they should come back.
Awesome! Was half worried Iād have to rediscover my factory layoutš
Can anyone help me with a server error im having? Mabe it's a simple fix but Idk, tryed a bunch of stuff already. Basically, I can connect to a dedicated server only once. If I leave, I can't rejoin, it gives me the connection time out error. happy @desert walrus ?
Iām having a very strange issue with my server. It works fine over LAN but I canāt get it to work over WAN. LAN IP works great, LAN IP fails. The really weird thing is that port forwarding doesnāt work but setting is DMZ does (kinda), telling me my router is the issue but idk what to do from here. When I set to DMZ it will let me ping server but wonāt refresh or load name/info or let me connect successfully. When I do normal portforwading the server will not respond at all over WAN
make sure the ip is right when forwarding for Wan connection
ip settings for the lan connection does not apply to the Wan one
it's independent
also make sure the dedicated server sees the Wan interface too
adjusting launch command arguments if needed (mainly -multihome=the_wan_ip if you use that argument)
you can't forward same port for both the lan and the Wan
so make sure lan forwarding is completely disabled before enabling Wan forwarding rules
Also, some routers don't like you using the WAN IP of something on the LAN if you are also on the LAN, so if you are trying to test your WAN IP from a client on the LAN it may be your router/firewall that is stopping you. In that case anyone out on the internet may still be able to access the server via the WAN IP and you can use the LAN IP
do you guys have any recommended places to buy a server from?
If you scroll up about 11 messages - #dedicated-servers message
how much does a dedicated server run?
Self-hosting is more or less free
are there any SRV DNS records which can be added if running Satisfactory on a non-standard port?
instead of doing myserver.mydomain.com:2939293
Not seen anything in any of the Wiki's
me neither! it would be a great feature to bring in sooner rather than later
Heh, I'm guessing CSS probably doesn't want to incur the support load of having people try and figure out SRV records. :D
I wonder what percentage of dedicated servers even have DNS zones that are user-controlled
what is /WindowsNoEditor? mine is just /WindowsServer
How do you self-host can the game run constantly when self hosted?
Has anyone had this issue where on a dedicated server when a player goes into an unexplored area it kicks them from the game bugging them and a vehicle under the map I had to recover their vehicle and box using the save editor
HELP
i fixed it
Self hosting requires that you have a spare machine that you're willing to leave on 24/7
Hopefully someone has had a similar issue and a solution.
I have tried installing Dedicated server on a spare machine, tried both SteamCMD and Epic Launcher and the server starts up and shuts down all within 20seconds. The spare machine is one I use to run servers for games like Icarus, 7 Days to Die and various others, my old i7 machine.
If you don't know a lot about networking and having additional hardware, self host isn't a good idea as there's still a LOT of manual tweaking to get self-hosting to work. As for your other question, there is an option in the server menu to pause on disconnect (or something like that), which is removed will allow the server to continue to run even if you aren't there.
How did you fix this, I've been getting it for ages and it doesn't seem detrimental, just annoying
wront comment sorry
try installing your server with this dedicated GUI https://github.com/micah686/SatisfactoryServerGUI/releases/ also remember to use these ports
serverqueryport - 15777
port - 7777
beaconport - 15000
This seems to be a developer issue related to the unreal engine so the creators of the game would have to fix this issue it seems
Ark still throws the BP error as well it is usually harmless but def a developer issue
Oh, I thought you meant you'd fixed it
I wish I could fix issues like this however I do not have access to the original game creation files
Constantly, usually it happens due to high load for me; too much going on inside the server, ie players playing too far from one another, or a few vehicles being used
I thought they were miss using wan as through wifi
but now that you point that out I feel bad for not clarifying the actual Wan case
Windowsnoeditor is not the server but the game client
and it's the update 7 one
it's not called like this anymore
when updating MaxPlayer count, does each game client need to update as well? if they don't update would this result in a server crash or simply not connecting?
Max player count is server side only, but anything over the default or 4 is at your own risk (as per the devs)
You'll need to shut the server down to update one of the ini files to make it work
everytime I've updated the game.ini and relaunched the server, it crashes upon users trying to join
trying to go to at max 8 players
Not really sure what the limit is but my dedicated box has like 4-5 Satisfactory servers running each running 10 slots, but I'm sure I could do more. Most likely depends where your hosting it, what limitations they place on you. If you have your own box, software might play a part in it. Even though I haven't had 10 people in my personal server but I know that it hasn't complained or showed any errors for just having 10 slots.
just running on my own computer on win11 (which could be a problem), my computer is strong enough to support 3 people plus myself playing on it as well
Whats your system specs?
Oh so you are attempting to increate the number of players on a client, not a dedicated server
Ryzen 9 5950x, 32gb ram, 3070, so it should be decent.
im also running the dedicated server steamcmd install along side, which is what we all are connecting to
Similar to mine, Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core, 80GB RAM, RTX 3060 12GB
You shouldn't run the dedicated server and client on the same machine
I agree with Gilgamoth
haven't had any issues besides increasing player count. game runs smooth until we try to increase that.
dedicated servers are just that, designed to be run on dedicated hardware.
The client includes the server, so it's best to just run the server out of the client without doubling up
or get seperate hardware
i don't believe that'd fix the crashing when increasing player count, but i can try it on a separate laptop to see
When you are running both what is your system performance like, are you maxing out on CPU and RAM
everything is as smooth as butter, no where close to max
the server crashes even if i have someone else connect
game.ini doesn't exist in a new installation of dedicated server, but you should be able to create it, add the max player stuff to it and then set it as read only
Hi, I have a problem since update 8, I don't have the same version between my server and my game (game version: 273254 / server version: 211839)
Do you have any idea how to solve it?
Have you tried updating your server itself
yes
Do you host this yourself on your PC or is it hosted by another company.
I host my seurveur on another PC at my home
Windows or Linux
win10 with SteamCMD
Sounds like SteamCMD isn't downloading the latest version, have you tried redownloading STeamCMD and installing a fresh copy of the game.
no, I try
Is it stopping you connecting?
If it updates on a fresh server then there is most likely an issue with SteamCMD
He is having version mismatch
Are both on EA or experimental?
yes
which one bud
on EA togather
I still stand on my previous message, sounds like a steamCMD issue not downloading the latest version.
ok i try new instal
Try running SteamCMD as administrator on it's own to see if it updates (my current version seems to be 8.56.38.63)
the issue is that the server cannot find its own files, i dont know how the other guy fixed it, so thats all i know
If you make a .bat file with a command that starts the steamcmd for you, if you set the path, then it will never change. If your manually entering the information then unless you tell it the installation path it might default to the steamcmd folder. I recommend using .bat file.
my version is identical
This is my command to update the server, make sure to update the SteamCMD source and server destination paths and to run it as administrator
"C:\apps\SteamCMD\steamcmd.exe" +force_install_dir "D:\SteamGames\SatisfactoryServer" +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
it worked just fine for me typing it in
force_install_dir C:\Data\Gameservers\FactoryGame (i have an odd filepath)
login anonymous
app_update 1690800
That was for @rancid flint who can't get his server to update
i know, mine was also an update cmd
Yeah, mine includes Validate, which may be needed if it's corrupt therefore not updating š
thx dowload in progress
i can't launch my dedicated serveur in Ʃpic games can you help me :,,) !!
thx for your help, the new instal works š
it should already be online if you ran the command
ok thx
i try
It doesn't work I have to write something special with the public IP address
Glad that worked
do you have access to the computer its being hosted on?
like with RDP?
yes it's my computer
oh
that's a probleme ??
i dont know if you can connect to a server hosted on your own computer
i think it has to be another computer hosting
you shouldn't run the dedicated server and game client on the same machine
no but I want to host on my computer to play with a friend but others can do it
yes
if its just 1 person joining just have them add you as a friend
and they can join your game
no need for a server
I know but for some reason that I don't understand he can no longer join my party like that, because he has a connection error that he didn't have at the start
sorry I hadn't seen the channel
I just realised that channel is read only, but this is for dedicated servers.
then if someone responds to the problem about the connection error it would help me in the same way
i know the error you are talking about
try restarting your computer and/or satisfactory
serious š„² !
I have already done this step
I don't see where it comes from it didn't do it to us at the beginning and I even reinstalled the game nothing nor made a connection error
will taking a sp world and putting it on a server work?
yeah it usually fixes itself in time š¤·
yes, you can transfer a SP save on to a dedicated server (and back if you need to)
There's a known issue with the latest Unreal Engine defaulting to IPv6 instead of IPv4, and that RemoteAddr doesn't look right to me. Normally we add the setting -multihome=0.0.0.0 to a dedicated server, but you are running it from the client
@barren aspen Thank you very much for that information, try ing it now while I eat breakfast
do you know which folder it is (on server)? i assume if i just delete it will generate a new one?
Windows or Linux?
linux
According to the Wiki it's ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server
Could be different if you installed it somewhere else with steamcmd
where is file for change the fact that it takes IP v6 ??
you need to use the -multihome option on the command line when starting the server
Not sure if it works on the client though
okk
@barren aspen , That GUI version works perfectly, thank you so much. I was pulling my hair out and at my age, that's dangerous.
No worries glad I could help.
Greatly appreciated
Side note if you have any issues with your server, just stop the server and click the install/Update server it seems to be the same as verifying the files. It usually fixes any issues when I run into problems with my server files.
Thank you, I have it running now and jumped in to test, so all is good, just means I dont need to run it from my main rig now
hello guys
i have an arm64 ubuntu Server. Can i install the Satisfactory Server there?
i have a aarch64
and i have install ubuntu arm
Dedicated Servers are AMD64 only, ARM is not supported
ok thanks
i have an raspberry pi and there is vshpere arm installed. Can i install vm with amd64 there?
No, because any VM still uses the ARM CPU
a ok
From the Dedicated Server wiki
There are currently no plans for an ARM CPU-compatible build, so the Dedicated Server cannot be deployed to, for instance, a Raspberry Pi
even a high end amd64 cpu sometimes struggles to run the dedicated server, even if you could try to run one on a raspberry , it would makes no practical sense
I've already disabled IPv6 any ideas?
[2024.01.01-21.51.23:425][203]LogServer: Error: Could not open new route from '[::ffff:....]:54781'.
currently having an issue with tractors on dedicated server. Can't record a route because it kicks me from the server before I can complete the route. Kinda game-breaking.
are you able to boost processor power on the server? when i've had issues like this it's always due to processing
@trim igloo I have a Ryzen 9 7900x, and it isn't even being 50% Utillized
Not sure what you mean by "push processing power"
i said boost, not push š
but i was assuming you were running it as a virtual or something, where you could boost up the vcpu's
also note, i am no expert, that's just been my experience over the last two weeks of playing with it
no, running off my main PC. It has the power to do so.
ESPECIALLY when using tractors/trucks/trains and moving long distances, the server will jitter and kick you out.. and don't even try and crash two tractors into each other!
FIxed the issue. Server didn't like me trying to run saves from my NAS. Putting it back on my PC's drive stopped the crashing, however the truck itself teleports across its route.
ah yeah, that makes sense
anyone know how i can fix up old offline players being stuck in vehicles that i can't dismantle or kill off..
According to this message #dedicated-servers message you need to edit the save to delete the vehicle
so... random animals are now spawning in my base (its on a dedi server)
simply upload your save and you can modify the vehicle and remove them from it https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map
make sure you look at thread activity
100% one thread on a 7900X can be reported as '4.2% load'
but in fact it's still cpu limited
No fixes?
it's still set to the default 20 second time out, you could try increasing that
yeah its the default timeout (20 sec)
Where is the file located?
i can't find it :/
Unfortunately I still get the same error

Have you stopped and restarted the server? I think you also may need to set the file as read only to stop the server from over-writing it on start up
did you set the engine.ini to read only (or Linux equivalent)? Are your changes still in the file?
There's also another suggestion to check the time on client and server
The File (Owner is the user steam) and the user should be able to read and edit the file
are your changes still in engine.ini since you restarted?
yes
in that case, other than making sure that the time on the server and client match, I'm out of ideas
I will restart the server anyway to make sure
are both machines using NTP to keep their time in sync?
yeah, the time is right on the server and on my pc
I already had access once when I changed the network configuration. At some point it just stopped working, even though I didn't make any changes
At the beginning I got the error before, but after changing the network configuration it worked until yesterday evening
When I start the server, Satisfactory tells me that the server is prepaired
Are you running via steamcmd?
yeah
new dedicated server install running start command, and the server started but hangs up here
any insight?
I have already done this with the install, I have just done it again and can try if it works
Unfortunately it did not work, I still get the same error
have you tried joining the server and seeing if its just showing errors that dont exist (mine does the same thing)
yes, i tried joining says its offline
try re-typing in the IP in the "new server" button
wait are you hosting on the pc you are playing on?
I'm not, i'm hosting on a VM on a seperate server
if i delete the ipv6 config i cant still conenct but i dont get error from the console only the

and you tried adding -multihome=213.239.213.165 to the command line when starting the server?
not yet
you could add -multihome=0.0.0.0 instead, but you gave your IP above so either would work
The whole thing must also be in the Game.ini, right?
yes
i'll try both
I don't run it on Linux, but I think you need to run ./factoryserver.sh -multihome=0.0.0.0
Hello - just discovered the Server GUI software after failing to get a dedicated server running. With the GUI, I've managed to get the server running. One question I have is, how do I configure the advanced game settings to do things like turn on flying mode?
When hosting a normal server, I get the options in the menu, but with a dedicated server I don't see the options anywhere. Does it have to be done via console commands?
I suspect that you currently can't. Console is severely broken since U8 update and I can't see an option for it in the config files
Oh I see. Ok, thanks for that.
Hope they get dedicated server working well soon, such a useful thing to be able to run.
Which config file was you looking in out of interest? Are the config files fully populated with all available options?
No, I was looking at the wiki for options - https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers/Configuration_files
Ah I see. Yeah, I've also tried issuing FG.DisableSeasonalEvents 0 via the console as well, and it' doesn't recognise the command.
@thank you for your help, after you asked me to try joining the server, i went back and thought about how simple the issue could be, tried doing a ping and couldn't reach the server explaining the offline, and then i changed the network adapter on the VM to a seperate physical one on the server motherboard, I can now reach the server, and starting the Server the message goes away since it can reach outside of my internal network now.
wait that actually gave you that idea? i was just saying random things that i've done
Doesn't work since Update 8, you have to edit the config file
lol it reminded me to go back to the basics and simple troubleshooting, as most issues are usually extremely simple and as humans we like to complicate things. So basically you told me to just try and connect when I tried it failed thinking it was the server not standing up but then I thought what if I canāt even see the server on my network
lol
just put my p2p multiplayer game on a rented dedicated server and its spitting out these weird errors constantly like 'actor channel failed' and then 'server connection received' referencing either me or my friend, random foliage, or monsters
not sure what to make of it
Hey guys. I searched the channel for "aws" keyword but didn't find too much
Did anyone manage to get a EC2 instance running properly?
I mean I got it running and I'm logging client requests on connection attempts. But I still get a timeout when trying to connect
I already checked for in/out-bound rules on both aws security groups and my OS firewall
And everything looks fine
Yet
Seems like I can't use the console for my dedicated server either
Most console commands are currently broken
hypertubes on dedicated server just refuse to work
when i try to enter i glitch out for like 20 seconds and then get flung backwards
or i just teleport to the other end
Nvm. Got it running
In case anyone else encounters a similar issue, run the server manually from the engine binaries with -DisablePacketRouting flag
I suspect using the -ā multihome=0.0.0.0 option would have also worked as the Wiki says that Packet routing is also disabled when multihome is used.
Hey guys, i'm kinda new to the whole multiplayer thing, I got the server client via steamCMD, but there is a version mismatch, is it possible to downgrade the servers version to match my game?
What version of client are you running?
273254
That's the latest version and should be the version of server
Where are you running the server?
well, my game version is 269772 and there is no update
just my PC
Your game is out of date, the latest Update 8 release from before Xmas (on both branches) is 273254
You shouldn't run the server and client on the same machine
why's that?
They use the same network address and IP ports so it gets complicated. Dedicated server is designed to run seperate from the client, which also includes the server component
The game seemed to be able to find the IP
like I said, it's complicated. Some times it works, some times it doesn't
Anyway, your Client is not on the latest version and the only option from a server perspective is Experimental or Early Access (which are both currently on the same version)

It's a known issue and š¤ will get fixed next patch
thank god its not just me
Vehicles are really broken in DS at the moment, if you need to retrieve stuff from dead under the floor characters, your only option is to edit the save using https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map
hm
thank you
i reckon i will just refund my rented dedicated server and wait for it to be patched
all patient like
ill erect a memorial for all my steel beams i lost
If your server has plenty of RAM you can try this option but it's not officially supported by CS - #dedicated-servers message
ah i actually did try that
until i removed that line from the file mentioned nobody could connect
i appreciate it tho
Was worth a try š
Hello, i looking for a dedicated server, i try Nitrado but the connection of the server is shit and i keep having deconnection. Do you know a good service of dedicated serveur
hey! just need a quick help.
I'm trying to run DS on custom ports. It was running fine on default ports, but it isn't connecting even on LAN after changing ports.
on logs, I see the game probing/pinging the server
but nothing further
Command to run the server:
./UnrealServer-Linux-Shipping FactoryGame -ServerQueryPort=16777 -BeaconPort=16000 -Port=8888 -DisablePacketRouting
on client side
oh... I THINK I KNOW WHU
nah. didn't work
figured it out
I had my desired ports swapped (QUERY_PORT and BEACON_PORT)
I self host so don't know personally, but a few people in this channel have recommended Indifferent Broccoli
They have a 48 hour trial so you can always give them a go for free
Probably, but I believe multihome flag is for FactoryGame.sh, I bootstrapped it to UnrealServer-Linux-Shipping from UE binaries
I might be wrong
i just got a server on gportal and everytime i go to add it i just get the server appears to be offline but it is online in gportal. i have also restarted the game multiple times now.. Anyone of you experts know what im missing?
Make sure you have the correct port enabled on gportal
or make sure you type in the right port on satisfactory
Did anyone else get a "The server is restarting in 30mins" on their server
nope, that just means its been online for too long and needs a reset
i have mine set to do that when my servers sync to the rest of our network
oh ok, thanks
Guys, any idea why where me and my friend pass here we both crash? #screenshots message
but the thing is, is only in one way
when comming the other way we dont crash
(crash as the game closing)
(i forgot i could send prints here
hypertubes are broken as FU- on dedi servers, they break on mine but they just have extreme glitching and sometimes just teleport me to the end, among other things
are trains better?
slower, but you can transport items with freight cars, and the rails carry power from one station to all the others
mean, i know that part
but are they more stable in the server?
hi, im new to the dedicated server stuff, it keeps running untill it gets stuck here, server manager still says 'server name pending' and 'not authenticated'
could i please get some help :)?
you need to login with the password you need to set and name the server so that anyone can join
but normally
it would give you a prompt to name it and make a password
ingame or in server files?
i add the server via server manager, it just stays like this
odd
it does repeat the last 2 lines every 5 minutes or so
you created the server map under 'Create Game' right?
i dont think so, i just went in steamcmd anonymous, app_update 1690800
in that first image, at the top there is 'Create Game'
ahh okay, I know i had a bug where until i did that the 'server settings' were blank initially
i know this specific issue tends to be a common problem, have you already tried restarting the server once?
multiple times
even tried deleting and trying fresh
got the ports set in firewall and router, so that shouldnt be a problem either
i do have it running on a second pc, and i'm trying to join the server through my main, i own the game on epic
Not sure if it gets deleted when you try a reinstall, but in the %appdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames folder there's a file called ServerSettings.<portnumber>. Try deleting that and starting the server again as it should reset all the server settings back to zero
The other option is to create a shortcut to run FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -multihome=0.0.0.0 and see if that works
i dont seem to have the SaveGames folder in there
trying this now, the server window looks and acts the same tho
this does not work either, i tried both local and public ip, still no luck
i used ctrl+f on the server cmd window, i could find 15000 and 7777 but not the server query port 15777, could this indicate something?
You're looking in the wrong folder. In the address bar type %appdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames
Not the SteamApps folder you are in
The Wiki says how to check if it's listening on all ports correctly https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Checking_Listening_UDP_Ports_on_Windows
okay thanks, will try everything on this page
Why do the truck move so weirdly when using a dedicated server? They do not move smooth, they move at like 2fps
Because servers need some love since update 8
I think I have developed a fear of trucks, any moment a truck can randomly fly into the stratosphere never to be seen again
doesn't happen that often fortunately
one time someone was on it and but it fill through the floor and they lost a bunch of shit
happens with all vehicles. I've had it happen multiple times to me in an Explorer. You need to edit the save to get your stuff back
I swear this has been a issue for ages now š¦
From the video's I've seen I think Update 8 has resolved most of the issues around trucks from a client perspective, just need to align on the Server
I noted this previously but have come up with this reproducible behaviour.
Short version:
Priority power switches act as a circuit break for light controllers connected to the A circuit and do not pass light settings information across into the B circuit (vice versa also).
As I was adding lighting and control control switches to factories I noted that they were not controlling the lights.
I had the control unit on the A side (main power network) of a priority power switch in order to control the street lighting as well as the factory lighting.
As this is a now a standard fitting to all of my factories the idea was that I could control the build lighting from any factory, in the same way I control any factory power from any priority power switch.
Firstly, the way I use lights is that they do not have a seperate lighting circuit and are attached in-line with the main factory power circuit.
To that end only one connection of the lighting control unit needs to be connected to the power circuit to control the lights.
I found that if I move the lighting control unit to the B side of the priority power switch it properly controls the lights in the factory but no longer influences lighting connected to the A side of the priority power switch.
The expected behaviour is for all light units connected to a continuous power circuit is if one controller is changed, all light controllers connected to that circuit inherit the settings of that controller.

Is this only on dedicated servers? Wondering why you've posted this in the dedicated server channel?
the ports are correct, no?
Yes they all took fine. Did you check the serversettings file in the directory I said?
it says it could not find the directory
Sorry, typo on my part, it's %LocalAppData%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames not %AppData%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames
Windows Firewall?
That's one way to check if it's the problem
just like this right, gonna try again, should i reboot the computer or not?
oh lol it instantly started doing things in the server window
Check the wiki, there is a command to enable the firewall rule - https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Port_forwarding_and_firewall_settings
okay i will thanks, kinda weird tho, i tripple checked all ports in firewall, they're all set up correct
Did you set them as TCP protocol or UDP? They should be UDP but I think windows defaults to TCP š
udp yes š
tysm for helping me with this
No worries, at least you know what the issue is, you just need to work out how to resolve it now.
i went downstairs to grab a coffee, came back upstairs, same problem now, firewall still disabled š¢
And these are on different PC's?
yes
secondary pc which is running the server, cable runs from router to switch to pc
main pc which is running the game, connected via wifi to router
idk if this might help identifying issue
no
its still off
i have reinstalled the server now, will try every step again
Can you ping the "server" pc from your client pc?
in command ping <internal ip>
Only thing I can suggest is make sure that you are running the server with the multihome option i.e. FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -multihome=0.0.0.0 to force the server to use IPv4 over IPv6
thanks again, if it breaks im just gonna drop the server and do normal multiplayer š®āšØ
Another thing is that, because you are connecting via wifi, it might be taking a few milliseconds to get a response. TCP is a request and response protocol, UDP is a request only, so if there is a small delay it can cause things to drop
it just keeps looping this yellow text now
Yeah, that's normal
so wait, i left the server open but did not join, after a few minutes it went back to offline even tho the server window is open
do i have to do something to bring it back online? since restarting the server does not fix it
I get the feeling that the server is fine, it's your connection to the server that gets interupted.
gonna exit and see what it does
am i writing the command wrong? i just copied from the wiki
Yeah console commands are broken since update8. Check out the Wiki and it says how to update the ini file to remove it - https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Configuration
mIntValues=(("FG.DisableSeasonalEvents", 0))
Also I believe running the game with the -DisableSeasonalEvents command line also works
happens here, too. I guess the connection times out and the game doesn't re-connect to the server on its own
hello
my server boots up if i completly reinstall steam cmd & the server and then crashes every time i want to boot it up again
does anyone had a similar problem and maybe found a workaround
Are you running the server on seperate hardware from your client?
yes via steamcmd
it seems like it has problems with the fore- and background workers
Windows or Linux?
win
Okay in satisfactoryserver\FactoryGame\Saved\Logs there should be a .log file for each time the server starts up. In there should show why it closed. For example this is the last line of my log file when I closed it down
'/Game/FactoryGame/Events/BP_EventSubsystem.BP_EventSubsystem_C:ExecuteUbergraph_BP_EventSubsystem'! [2023.12.28-14.23.22:860][110]LogCore: Engine exit requested (reason: ConsoleCtrl RequestExit)
Is it a physical pc or a VM?
That is one known issue for Proxymox, yes, but I just wanted to check what machine spec it is
as i know it should be physical
Is it not your server then?
Looks like Unreal engine tried to access something (either RAM or CPU address) and it wasn't there. Has it ever worked on that hardware?
yes
it runned in april for 600 hours
if i reinstall steamcmd and the gameserver it works completle fine until the server is closed and i try to start it for a 2. time
i3, i5, i7, i9 or Xeon
Would expect that to be fine. You could try verifying the install through SteamCMD with app_update 1690800 validate, but I suspect it doesn't like something on the HW side. Are you up to date on Windows Updates and drivers?
does a dedicated server also have a session id? if so, where can i find it, i'd rather give session id than my public ip
I think that's more for connecting to other players, dedicated servers need the IP Address I believe
yes they need an ip
would ngrok work with satisfactory dedicated server?
Yeah, I think Unreal 8 possibly doesn't like something in your hardware. You could try searching https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/
i use it for minecraft all the time
idk
Never used it, but if it's what I think it is (virtual WAN) then yes it should work, but similar to using Hamachi, it's a lot harder to troubleshoot network issues š
Just remember that any traffic routed by these virtual platforms potentially increases your lag when playing
you need an IP but you can set one so that it only connects to the satisfactory part of the server
I have a Server running at the Hoster Nitrado, it works quite fine ( no Rubberbanding, Good Ping, no Lags) except when anyone drive with any Vehicle, then you drive a few seconds and have a disconnect. When you want du relog to the Server you need serveral attempts to relog, with diconnects before you see the actual Gamescreen. In a few Situation your stuck under the map and falling into the oblivion. Does anyone have an Idea or a hint what I can do or what I can suggest from the Hoster to do ?
verify the game files is the first step
always
Okay will do it but its the same for any player on the server
yeah, i mean verify the game files on the server
Unknown issues with all vehicles since update 8
yeah hypertubes are wonky as well
i just teleport to the end, or get glitched into the floor or something else
How du i verify the files on the server ?
uhh i dont actually know how to with nitrado, i self host
If you can access the SteamCMD you run the command app_update 1690800 validate

what server renatl company would yall recommend using? I'm on nitrado right now but not very impressed
I've heard good things about Indifferent Broccoli, but can't vouch for them myself as I've always self-hosted
Same as Fight or Flight I self host, but there have been some good comments about Indifferent Broccoli, and they offer a 48h free trial
awesome, thank guys
We have a dedicated serpur server is throwing a unetconnection error, and nobody can join, any ideas?
hey ive got a problem my server shuts it self instand down i am using windows server 2019
I'm assuming self host, but virtual machine or physical hardware?
its a vm and the ports are open for satisfactory
Proxymox VM?
jep
There is a known issue with Proxymox VM's if the CPU type is set to the default, it needs changing to HOST
ok⦠idk about that one⦠i use zap-hosting for that
Just search this channel for Proxmox, there are loads of comments that you need to switch the CPU type to host
yeah ik but i cant do anythink because i use zap hosting
ok still thank you for your help⦠without you i wouldnt get to here..
You could try their support team, see if it can be modified at their end
Hey everyone, I don't know where to get the address of my dedicated server. All I did is booted up the "Dedicated server experimental" in epic games and the game itself
What do I do now?
Are both on the same hardware?
Yes
This is not best practice, dedicated server is designed for seperate hardware.
You could however use 127.0.0.1
Is there some kind of tutorial for that?
Including that I'm willing to boot Dedicated Server app
Cuz it's what Epic Games offers
Dedicated server and client use the same network resources so there is usually a clash
The app in EGS and Steam is to install on seperate hardware
Is there a service that will provide me this hardware for free?
And there is no option but to use one?
No, you either need to self host on your own seperate hardware, or purchase a hosted server from a provider
Well, I have another PC in my house, I can host a server there
Tho idk how to get the server address
If it's windows then it's ipconfig, if it's Linux I think it's ifconfig
Anyone know a good provider besides shockbyte for satisfactory
Cuz when I used shockbyte, I was in a world which had already been started
What is ipconfig even? A property in log files?
You are looking for the network address of your computer. Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig.
For a home network the address usually starts 192.168 or 172.16
So I just get that address and boot up the server on my other pc. Then I can create a server in Satisfactory
That's how it works?
Yes, using the other PC's network address when you create the server on your PC. You do realise that you don't need a dedicated server to play Satisfactory, only is you want multiple people to play at any time?
You should be able to download your save and then upload it to a new provider
Or start a save on your own PC then upload it from there
Well, that's the intented use, so I will still make the dedicated server
Tho, I guess when I turn off my second pc, the server will be shut down, yeah?
Yes and you also need to configure your router/firewall to forward network traffic from the internet to the dedicated server. Not to be rude, but if you don't know how to get your network address, this may be a little tricky for you
Well ofc this will be tricky, I'm a noob in how the networks work
I avoid working with networks as much as possible
@ornate grotto I booted the server and it worked properly for a bit. But now it says the server is offline tho It's booted up on another PC. What's wrong?
I left the server for a while, tho it was booted all this time
And what my friend should do in order to join the server? Because I don't know where to get session Id from
Check the "server" console and make sure that the service exe is still running and read the Wiki for basic troubleshooting - https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers
Session ID is for client to client multiplayer, for dedicated servers you will need to allow the traffic through your router/firewall to the "server", which is where at least basic networking knowledge is needed
Do there exist easy tutorials for that?
Once you've updated your router/firewall, you need to to give your friend your internet provider ip address
No because it depends on your internet provider and whatever router/firewall they provide you
There is no "standard"
So I shouldn't give him the IP adress for the pc where the server is booted on
I should give him IP for the internet provider
Yes, but unless you allow the traffic through your router/firewall he won't be able to access it
You and your server are connected locally, you need to use Network Address Translation (NAT) to allow traffic from the internet in to the internet server network address
Oh, I see what you mean
If you want to use Session ID's run it on your PC and then invite your friend to join your game. You can play multiplayer together, but only when you have your PC running.
Saves a lot of time and hassle, or buy a hosted server from a provider
Anybody else have issues with hyper tube cannons on their servers? Iām using Indifferent Broccoli as a host, and 90% of the time the cannons will work, but every now and then they cause my client to disconnect from server. Then if I donāt wait a couple minutes before joining, when I join back Iām a brand new character, and the one that disconnected will be stuck floating in the air lol. Client network settings set to ultra, and Iāve tried lowering graphics settings to see if that was the issue.
Yes, it's a known issue with vehicles and hypertubes. There is a work around but it's not officially supported - #dedicated-servers message
Itās tolerable, Iād rather not break anything. I try to only fly when I need to now haha. As long as I wait for the server to recognize that I disconnected, ~2 minutes then I can rejoin
i got disconnected while driving a train. now the train is stuck and is labled as āfullā since my character still seems to be in there. is there a was to solve this problem on a dedicated server?
As Magic Banannaz mention above you could try waiting 2 mins before reconnecting. If that doesn't work the only option seems to be to shutdown the server, download and edit the save in https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map, to delete the offending train, then re-upload the save and try again.
ah okay so it is possible to use the map editor on a dedicated server save file. i thought that was only possible on local games
iāll try it out! thanks a ton!
It's the same save file format, you can upload from local game to server or backagain
cool, iāll go fiddle with that for a bit!
hey @ornate grotto i just asked the hosting support and they said, the cpu setting is already set to host...
Oh, that rules out that known issue then. You'll have to wait for someone for someone from Coffee Stain to answer then. Might be worth checking out the Q&A site
ok thank you very much
Hi
I am having a strange problem with my Server. I can access the admin Console in the lobby, but each time i try to create a new world the server just crashes and i get this Error message:
Has somebody else also run into this?
is there a public server that I can join?
Are you running Physical Server or VM? Self Host or Server Provider?
How do I make a submission?
It tells you in the channel topic (I can't repost the link)
Ahaa
Im running a VM on Proxmox on a dedicatet server
i had the same one and fixed it using the DisablePackageRouting attribute when starting the server
how do i do that
how are you starting the server?
i have no idea how to do it with the panel
are u talking about this
Could be it
yea i think its a better idea using the DisablePackageRouting option
should also be somwehre near that
i dont see that
i tryed and its the same thang
well i got it working but i got it working the most oddest way ever
well what was it?
it was the port
so 15777 keep that and make a new port and have it like this 15778 and then set that as main port and then reinstall server and then start and then connect and done
so u need all ports plus port 15778
There's a known issue with Proxmox if the CPU type on the VM is not set to Host. Have you checked this setting?
Hello Guys, I'm trying to disable seasonal events
I have a savegame I don't want to lose but each time I try to connect to the server it crashes with seasonal events off
if i turn it back on i can connect just fine
How have you turned it off?
commandline option and also in gamesettings.ini
Have you done both or one at a time?
one at a time
What is the error in the log when it crashes
Look in the FactoryGame\Saved\Logs folder
It creates a log file ever start up
Hello bosses, I have a few questions about installing a Satisfactory server on my Linux server running Debian 12. When I try to install Steamcmd, I get the following message: "Bash command not found" (see image). The problem is that I don't know how to resolve this error because there seem to be only solutions for Debian 10 or similar, and they don't work. I hope someone can help or has encountered the same issue. Feel free to reach out for further questions. Thanks in advance!
how do I remove ficmas event in server ??
Try ./steamcmd
If you read the Wiki (https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers), you can either run the command with the -DisableSeasonalEvents setting or edit the config file to remove it.
yep I did read the wiki but commands dont work for some reason on server
They have worked for others, are you sure you are using them correctly?
100% sure
The config version is adding to GameUserSettings.ini
[/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings] FG.DisableSeasonalEvents 0
Actually the Wiki gives two different settings, the one above and mIntValues=(("FG.DisableSeasonalEvents", 1))
so when I run the server the setting dissapears fron the ini file
The Wiki (https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers/Configuration_files) says
Seasonal events, such as FICSMAS, can be disabled (0) or enabled (1) in GameUserSettings.ini. Note that the line will disappear after the server is restarted, but will take effect regardless.
o nvm
However the main wiki (https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Configuration) says
Set AutoSave Interval to 15 Minutes, Disable Seasonal Events and Set Network Quality to 3 mIntValues=(("FG.NetworkQuality", 3), ("FG.DisableSeasonalEvents", 1)) mFloatValues=(("FG.AutosaveInterval", 900.000000))
didnt work damn wth
@frosty gale This one needs to go in section [/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings]
[2024.01.06-19.53.07:519][357]LogWindows: Error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000010100000003
this is the stacktrace
is this because it's an existing savegame where i have played with seasonal events before?
I can see it is disabled but it crashed when trying to connect
Possibly. Have you tried searching https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/ ?
that doesn't seem helpfull
does it do it every time you restart the server?
Try ./steamcmd
Hello I have a linux server but I have a problem to connecting to it
didnt work either
When i enter @cerulean island game or MP i move around and then i crash?
or go back to the log in screen anyway of fixing this
We are not in a server, we are playing through MULTIPLAYER ID.
yes MP
i am in Now
hi frens, i have an issue with dedicated server regarding hypertube, when i join the server, any first use of the hypertube would work normally and fine, but then after that the usually the 2nd or 3rd one, instead of it working it usually either glitch on the camera as I entered(which is fine since at least i still move) but the other times, it will teleport the camera to where the last entrance of tube i went into, and there is nothing, i don't see my character, nor can i move the camera or anything, is anyone facing the same issue?, if so do we have any workaround for this bug?
when the camera is teleported and stuck, my only option is to exit to main menu, and rejoin the server, then from that point on, hypertube would work as intended again... at least once or twice, and its rly annoying since I frequent movement by hypertube
Hypertube & Vehicle hi-jinx are a known issue since Update 8. š¤ we get a stability update for the dedicated servers
idk if i can keep my server up for that long
Trains seem fine if you have enough resources on your server, although they are known to Rubber-band sometimes. There is a fix for some of the issues, but it's not fully supported by CS - #dedicated-servers message
I have a big railway all around the map, however, for personal travel, launching myself from a cannon is more efficient imo
I take it that .ini file is for the rubber-banding train right?
The adjustment to the INI file basically loads the entire map into memory so you don't get the rubber-banding as segments of the map load.
ah ok, just to be clear that change is done in the server files right?
Yes it does say in the post, in the Engine.ini file
okeh... uhh, idk where is the file location
got it, thanks a bunch Gilgamoth, have a great day man
No worries
hi frens, i tried adding
[ConsoleVariables]
wp.Runtime.EnableServerStreaming=0
to engine.ini on my dedicated server file, however if i do this the server won't start at all, is this normal, does anyone have any knowledge on why is this happening???
How much RAM does your server have?
8Gigs
IIRC, minimum spec is 16GB and as that setting tries to load the whole map into RAM, I suspect you don't have enough.
oof, the minimum is 16?

that will cost some good moni
I can get it to 16, but i dont think having the server on minimum requirement is a good idea, right?
I saw a previous comment saying it should be around 10-12 minimum
And i was planning to get it to 16
ah ok, will get 16 then, thanks again for the pointer Gilgamoth, you're a lifesaver
@ornate grotto oh yeah, one more thing, could it be that because of the small RAM of the dedicated server, that some of these bugs are happening or at least happens more frequently?
Potentially. I had more issues when the server had less resources
Hey folks. Recently started running my own server and it seems a little laggy (more than normal lol) are these logscript warnings anything i should be concerned about and find a fix for?
Is there a way to turn off the xmas presents from dropping on my server?
do you mean turning off Ficsmas entirely? This might be what you're looking for https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/656aaf97c2c00a0c8597481e
So hyper tubes just jank on a dedicated server?
ypu
For anyone who can't get serversettings.ini to show up even with a quit from the server manager, trigger a save from the server manager instead. Mine showed up then. I still can't get game.ini to show up tho with the player count setting.
iirc there is a way to workaround it for the moment, but it takes like 12GB RAM before the server can start, lower than that, and the server wont start
thats Not correct. Server starts also with 4gb
Ah i see, however adding
[ConsoleVariables]
wp.Runtime.EnableServerStreaming=0
To Engine.ini makes my server unable to start, and i saw another person mentioned the same, and apparently it require more RAM in order to make that workaround work
Warnings are normal. Performance is bad since when? Pre Update 8 or post?
Game.ini doesn't exist in Update 8. You can create it from scratch or use gameusersetting.ini I think it is called. Not in front of my PC at the moment
Whilst it will start (and run) with 4 or 8gb, minimum requirement is 12GB (according to the wiki) and 16GB is recommended. You can't really complain about performance if you only give it 1/4 of the resources it needs
i never said 4gb to run the server,. i only said to start the server
I've had it start with 4 and 8gb, but playing with 8 is horrible, even with only 1 player. I'm running 16GB now and it's a lot smoother. No rubber-banding on the trains, but the hypertubes are still janky š¤£
Anyone know how to fix this
Physical or Virtual Server, Owned or Self-Hosted?
I got it from shockbyte
If you have purchased a Satisfactory Game Server from them, I'd go back to their Support Team if it's not running
This is my first game server, can you help me if I get stuck?

From their Satisfactory Server page
I keep getting this error message when i try to join my dedicated server does anyone know how to fix it?
UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUT. Closing connection⦠Elapsed: 20.01, Real: 20.01, Good: 20.01, Driver Time: 20.02, Threshold: 20.00, [UNetConnection] RemoteAddr: 192.168.1.12:7777, Name: IpConnection_2147407656, Driver: PendingNetDriver NetDriverEOSBase_2147407657, IsServer: NO, PC: NULL, Owner: NULL, Uniqueld: INVALID
Physical or Virtual Server, Owned or Self-Hosted?
Self-Hosted
but its on a seperate computer
Can you ping that computer from your client (assuming 192.168.1.12)
Also is the server Windows or Linux?
open up a Command Line on your client and type ping 192.168.1.12
yeah i can ping it
i also run a ark server and can locally connect to it and my friends can so im not sure why i cant get it to wrk with satisfactory
Have you enabled Windows Firewall?
UDP?
yeah
Are you seeing the connection attempt on the server console?
yeah i can see it
Try running the server with the -multihome=0.0.0.0 option
i.e. FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -multihome=0.0.0.0
Try temporarily disabling Windows Firewall and try again. Had someone on Saturday who thought they'd set up the firewall correctly, but only worked once they disabled the firewall
it didnt work
Sounds like something wrong with the Server, check out the common errors on the Wiki to make sure it's running on the correct ports https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Common_errors_or_problems
You could also try validating your install files using steamcmd and app_update 1690800 validate
Same issues here on a Linux VM
LinuxGSM Dedicated server
connecting from a Windows 11 PC
Have to restart the VM, then load the latest Save and then I can connect again
When I try to enter the world I get kicked out of the server. Mention me if there is a question or answer
Are you running a virtual proxmox instance by any chance?
