If all you get is that word, that usually means your system kernel is killing the application.
The most common reason for that would be the system running out of memory, and the kernel killing non-important applications. Do you have enough memory to run the satisfactory server?
i just changed it from 8 to 16 GB

basic question, but when the wiki says to "run a command" like this, where the hell do I actually do the command...? in the game console doesnt make sense and doesnt work, tried it anyway. In windows cmd it doesn't work, and in the server window it doesn't even let me put it in to check it :/

there was a second command just under, for windows, tried that didnt work either
then input cd\, then cd \path\to\dedicated\server, next input .\FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended and you should be good to go

I saw this in the console lines or whatever it's called, likely causing most if not all of my issues, I have a laptop I originally wanted to install the server on it's own, can I run the server on the lapotp using the same account as the game on my main pc? cause I think I tried it earlier and it said it would cancel my current session on my pc

yeah I've been doing that. Using steamCMD, using -NOSTEAM, using all the right stuff according to what it's asking for and just doesn't work... my luck nothing ever works "normally", mods, servers, always more complicated

you could try running it off of your laptop, but really no promises there
you could also try getting the dedi server helped off of epic games and see if it works when ran from there

hm, this time I ran the server from steam not steamcmd and that didn't pop up
just wanted to follow up and say that im pretty sure 8GB should be sufficient but it is not, i raised system memory to 16GB and it fired up no problem
Im trying to upload blueprints to my server and i just cant seem to find the dedicated servers blueprint file, it literally doesn't exist? Is there any way I can create a directory file so the server can possibly recognize it? I also have blueprints in the server but I can't find where they are located (Because they don't exist in any directory lol)
Have you previously used blueprints? You need to save your own one for the game to create the correct directory

Its should be in the C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\blueprints

In Linux, the blueprints are in a hidden folder in the user's home directory named ".config "
/home/steam/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/blueprints
Tried looking for that but when I enter the saved file all that’s in there is config and logs that’s it I’ve searched it in every file but the directory doesn’t exist in the files

i moved dedicated server to windows 11 and now FactoryServer.exe apparently can't use more than 4 GiB of RAM or Event Viewer gets flooded with "ran out of memory" events for FactoryGame

Game is stored on d drive (faster drive) but the game saves to c drive (slow drive) rather everything happen on d.

I think the answer will be found by studying tcpdump or ngrep. Have you tried capturing a successful connection and a failed one from the server?

Dedi servers and especially experimental is very buggy. When you ask questions please provide screenshots and/or text logs of your errors and describe in detail what the issue is so we can try and help. Otherwise it is very bad to try and help you out
understood, i will see if i can narrow it down but it seems to be the same problem everyone has been having for a couple of months. client crashes, when you log back in it gives you a new char (which i find if you wait till it kicks you that usually fixes the new char issue) but have only noticed it happens a lot when running into spitters but i will see what info i can grab to assist
Always also try restarting the server, validating files, and checking settings to see if that fixes any issues
also is there anyway to switch my dedicated server off of experimental without losing my save?

Two things. Local copy from a local world does not seem to be pulling blueprints onto the dedi server when loading the save world and two, commands like save interval timeout and other commands to modify how long things occur seems to reset on restart of the server?

Hey. How do I direct the server console log to a file? Im running my own dedicated server on my 2nd PC (win10). My server is crashing and I want to know the reason. I suspect Im running out of RAM. Anyway, the question is the logging into file. I was running also a valheim dedi server and there, I just added this to the server starting batch file: -logFile "s:\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim dedicated server\server.log". I did this with satisfactory dedi server, but this is not working, no log file is created.
I want to have a dedicated server with mods, is it easier to just run the game regularly on server and join it or is there a tutorial for getting mods to work on dedicated server files?

I've recently hosted a dedicated server that myself and 3 others have been active on and it seems that the server tends to go down approximately around 16 hours of active usage.
i have been lazy and haven't looked at my personal logs since restarting it is easy enough, but again, what has been other peoples experience?

So I'm trying to install a satisfacotry server on my VPS. It is running on Ubuntu 20.06. I had the steam client already installed because of my previous ARK servers. I installed the satisfacotry server, but it always crashes on run. I did validate the files with steamCMD serveral times, but it still isn't working...

but the documentation says, that the server shall not be run from a root user..
and the steam user does have root (sudo) permissions

Is the tick rate only influenced by cpu or by gpu too ? Running mine on Xeon E5 on an old Dell Server based on vSphere. Wondering if adding a Nvidia K1 or K2 will improve tick rate.

But changing those to 60 or 120 doesnt change anything. I have a Dedicated server running off GTXGaming and the Multiplayer in this game is WORSE then a Year ago. Everyone gets disconnected constantly. Customizing the Walls or foundations to fast will crash server. I wish they would focus on Multiplayer more since its getting Worse with every patch they send out

Ya, we pretty much gave up. dumping the server on Feb 3rd when renew time comes. Games not worth the hassle or $$. I Boosted it to 20GB ram allocated and High CPU and its still a crash party for everyone. Dont customize a Foundation more then 1 every 5 sec or Crash...its to bad, we were enjoying it.
i have had steady at around 13 GB ram, the world is fairly populated with huge things too
at the start we comfortably had 8 players going... i think as more game objects get added it just ends up too much

that has far less issues, and was relatively stable, although its far less complex granted
also have a Valheim server thru same host, that run fine, just has a RAM issue

we had a satisfactory server up last Jan Feb Mar 2022 and we did have a few issues but a year later it has got so much worse

I changed those and a few values yesterday and I could see tick rate go from 30 to 60 in the server manager after I saved, and then loaded up a save. I had lots of rubberbanding and lag issues and the server has been working a lot better since. (dedicated on a linux box)
hello guys, i need your help. Few days back i bought server for me and my friend. We play to a level of creating blueprints. So i created 6 blueprints, reconnect and check my blueprint and i had only 2, so i created again missing blueprints (suma 6 blueprints) and today when i was joined... again a miss the 4 a stay only 2. I dont know where is problem, in my blueprints folder have all data, but not in the game. Can u help me please?
yeah blueprints are weird atm, although this may be an issue with the server provider
Hi all, I currently rent a server through a server provider (not sure if allowed to name here) for ~$15/m. It says it supports up to 10 slots, but with just 3-4 friends on it we encounter some issues. Main issue is the server will crash randomly, also have issues where after a player crashes they spawn in brand new character, which results in us having to kill the "offline" player. Is this a constraint issue of hardware or just SF servers in general being buggy? I have an extra server laying around I could use, I just hate dedicating it to a single game, but willing to if it solves the issues with my friends... Specs are E3-1270 v3, 32 GB RAM DDR3, 480 GB SSD, will run on headless linux
ATM satisfactory servers are quite buggy for some and just fine for others
The devs have just recently returned to work after a month away for holiday season, so I'd hope to see many of the current crashes begin to get patched out in the next few weeks

By default the game only allows 4 players
the servers are not designed to go over 4, and there is no chance they can support 10 atm

By default yes but I run fine with around 6-7 players on a 3950x and 64GB 3466drr4 kit and I just have a script to auto restart the server in case it crashes and it just worked fine for the people I host for
Yeah you get the client/server crashing problem but if you have a script to auto restart it it just back up right away in a minute or less

Server tick rate doesn’t increase performance fyi you can have a high tick rate doesn’t meant the server is faster or performance is better… of course it always depend on the game but I do believe in satisfactory it doesn’t really benefit the game from what I’ve seen…

I mean it's not life ending, but it is rather ugly.
Higher than normal 30 tick settings allows me optimise things for larger maps (10MB+) when I reach such save size, my current builds are still "small". It also seems each client CPU type affects overal DS tickrate maximum values, eg. slow GPU + fast CPU performs better than slow CPU + fast GPU. Also all clients must match these settings with the server to make them consistent. When I got this knowledge I'll left default 30 tick but more players can join.

#dedicated-servers message there are 4 concurent servers on 64GB and overal mem usage. No KMS (Proxmox uses Kernel Memory Sharing to reduce memory usage).

i had a very hard time making a server myself i actually ended findind a site called AMP that basically does all the back end work for you it did cost money but so worth the time youll save trouble shooting
no and i have done a lot of things to connect but they all dont help me
@smoky fox i went through the same thing the only thing i can help with is if you have a spare 10$ look into AMP it streamlines the connection and make it save you a massive 2 day headache like me

I have also AMP license and I wasn't able to get Satisfactory DS working at that time when tested it.
I'm running LXC containers on my hosts, virtualization on QEMU/virsh or pure DS server on bare-metal host.
I'm testing multiple cluster types for optimal usage in Satisfactory DS.
Limiting factor for me is lack of enough hardware equipment, have only 4 bare-metal servers to play with. Also power prices rapidly increasing recently 😦
So far best performance and general host usage is Proxmox host and LXC containers running separate DS instances.

One of us was, I was in the red forest. So what it's doing it creating like multiple characters for one person on the same dedicated server.

This was one of these recent crashes, but happend only once. We just reloaded last autosave (I have 6 last autosaves set). But DS itself didn't crash, it was client crash.
Reloaded the server again and I am in a new body, looking at my old body... Again.

Hi, I have a server under linux and I can't find where the map backup file is.
Okay yeah this is beyond insane. Everytime I log in, the server just creates another character for me and I can see my old body sitting somewhere, or sometimes it disappears alongside all my things. There's nothing in the logs giving me an error because I'm simply logging out then back in. What do I do?

@full swallow You can also rent bare-metal host from hosting company like OVH and setup Yourself everything, they have "gaming" line specific for game servers with high-clock CPUs, but that's little bit expensive; investment in your equipment will pay off in less than a year.

As a client, I'm crashing a TON whenever encountering aliens. This usually kills me while the game is crashing/reloading, and leading to a longgggg walk back to my body. Scared to explore more of the world and look for HDDs.

Yes! It doesn't seem consistent as far as I can tell other than there a creature nearby
But even then it's not every time
yes we had this problem also, but once I turned the creatures to passive we haven't had any crashes due to creatures

My client is seeing the server offline after 5 minutes of doing noting
route from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx hasn't been used in more than 300 seconds closing it
not sure about that first issue
the second one is a very easy fix
add another server to your server list and give it a fake IP address, then click on that one and click back to the server you want to join and it'll refresh
alternatively, you can also just restart your game

Sorry for late response, I got caught up in something as soon as I pinged you. The issue you’re going to encounter when hosting with a provider is that they more than likely over allocate their servers to too many customers. If I had to guess your server only has 2-4GB of ram and the CPU is being shared among many other people. It’s much better to get an actual server with dedicated resources. I tried 3 different server providers before I just decided to throw the game server on a spare server of mine and since then I’ve had zero issues beyond basic Satisfactory MP bugs.
If you can afford it I recommend getting a real dedi. Maybe a VPS would work, but I recommend minimum 8GB RAM. Also SSD storage
I run it on a E3-1270v3 with 32 GB RAM and SSD. Bare metal, so 100% of resources go to the game server. Not a single crash since I started doing it this way, I auto restart every 12 hours.
I'm hosting a server on a VM in my home lab, and I'm trying to find a Discord bot that can report the current server status, mainly whether the Satisfactory server is running or not. The VM itself never crashes, but the Satisfactory server intermittently does, and most often when applying textures to foundations, so I wanted to be able to have the Discord bot to tell people whether or not It is up or down(restarting). I have it set to run as a service on Ubuntu so it will auto-restart if it crashes.
i wish there was a way to do that easily... there is nothing prebuilt to do something like this, so while i believe it could be possible, you would have to code it from scratch afaik

to my knowledge the "ghost" character, is essentially an immortal object. i have tried everything short of nuking to kill them and get their loot

i have seen a weird potential fix.
after a specific crash/ghosting event, I have downloaded the save from my dedicated server and played it locally. When i played it locally i ended up spawning as the ghost character and having all my things. i was able to drop everything off in a box.
Then, i re-upped the save file to dedicated and when i logged in, i was back to playing the second character with the "ghost"/single player character being removed

I do have a problem with my dedicated server on my debian 20.06 machine. I installed it via LinuxGMS and it runs "perfectly exept that I cannot connect to the game. I can interact with the server via the server manager, but when it comes to joining the game, the following connection timeout error occours:
I've already increased InitialConnectTimeout and ConnectionTimeout to 300, but that doesn't help.
Does anyone of you have an idea how to fix that?

add -DisableSeasonalEvents to your startup command and see how that fairs

Hey group, any known tips / tricks for getting outside connection to a dedicated server? Game runs fine with connecting via a Private (internal) connection. But anything from the outside simply just doesn't successfully connect. Ports are open, Port forwarding should be proper, but no success from any public connections.
I've been through a number of forums, blogs, video's etc, they all don't seem to offer anything outside of the typical setup.
having outside connection use my pubic IP and yes the port is forwarded to the proper device.
I'm using the standard 15777 port. not seeing anything that suggests not to do that

I was able to join once earlier after refreshing a bunch.. now Im not able to connect.. I get "Could not connect to the server." or occasionally a timeout message.. Hi all, got a dedicated server on a cloud vps (8 Vcpu / 30G ram). We experience now serious lag, crash and particulary regular rollback / freeze. Is this a normal issue because it's an alpha or is there some tweaks I could use , especially for avoiding rollbacks ? (we are 3 on the game).
No. Your VPS is likely being shared with other VPSes running on the same host.
Hey guys sorry to ask again but how do I port forward ports if it tells me i can't portforward under a certain number? (it doesnt accept the ports that is needed)
are you using your internal IP address?
Generally speaking only ports below 1024 are considered "privileged" and require root access (which isn't recommended). The SF dedi server ports are not in that range, where exactly are you getting that error?

My friend can't join the server, it tells him "This Server Appears To Be Offline", while my server console displays so it detects that he wants to join
And i just got an error too

Is there a bug causing crashes on dedicated servers when you encounter certain creatures? It seems like every time any of us encounters a hostile creature at certain points, the client crashes. This causes the character to sometimes die because the creature continues to attack.

I am still experiencing a very similar issue. I can refresh a bunch and Ill occasionally get luck and itll load and I can join and play no problem.. but its like 1 out of every 20 tries and I occasionally have to restart the game because itll get stuck on "Server offline".

yes ? that's the point of a server set for 24/7. It's my understanding you can set your server to pause after the last player disconnected (I guess that saves CPU / electricity)

yesteday afternoon, all presents have stopped paradropping and spawning from trees, and all receipes have disappeared from the menus as well as MAM research tree for FICSMAS stuff.
18th Jan is end date of Ficmas event. Probably all my smart splitters are no longer recognising these xmas items too..

I tried increasing the time in the engine.ini but it still cuts off at 30.. regardless my friend has no problems and server info loads instantaneously when clicking server

To add a note - it helps when large save is loaded or server is a bit slow. I have this set to 300.0.

Understood, I know that the query port gives some limited information but I just wanted to find out exactly what. Once I have a better guide, I hope to add it to the tcadmin 2 template I've made so server querying can help identify crashes and use automated scripts like steam update when the server knows no one is connected. that kinda thing

Hi, I have a problem deploying the satisfactory server on my own (physical) server with docker.
I am using the image: wolveix/satisfactory-server:latest.
I think the problem has occurred since the update to satisfactory version 7, but I'm not sure.
It's work well few month ago but now I recreate a new server it didn't work.
Some use this image too or not ?

Hello everyone, I was running from some enemies and I think enough spawned in to make me DC while I was low health. When I reconnected I found my "Dead Offline Player" in the general area that I died.
I revived it, and it was sitting down drinking coffee while sliding fast.
But I cannot loot it, or log back in as that character, how can I fix this?

The simplest method is immediately after such event load autosave. If it's too late or too much effort, load save on SCIM and remove oprhaned players, then upload save again onto DS.

This is the solution, but there is a twist. What is important is if you revive the offline player, they will look like they run off and you are inclined to chase them... do not. Their player location is still where the body originally was. I think this because eventually the body bugged a second time and remained at the original death location and we were able to kill it.

That looks like a slightly damaged save file. If you upload it to SCIM and re download it might be healed

I'm going to spend time identifying all the ways the interface is janky then report back with notes. maybe this isn't the right channel for it. For the most part, on servers, the fact that the client has the organization but the server has the blueprints, is just baffling. If I load someone else's blueprint, it can be in their organization scheme, I can take care of refiling it

Hello, I came for Dedi server help. A friend of mine set up a dedi server for a few friends and the other day I tried to join and I have server name pending, notAuthenticated and it says that it is offline. Does anyone know how i can fix this. AFAIK it is only a me issue

id be curious if the server log's show your ping attempt or not.
You say other people besides the host can connect? Makes me think that your local firewall/ router firewall might be blocking ports. I believe you when you say you didnt change anything, but cant hurt to double check?
Can you join your friends by joining their in game session instead of using the server manager?
i am having the same issue as the guy above. i started a server and i can join and play but my friends game says server name unavailable and not authenticated. i have all of the ports forwarded and the firewall set to allow the server exe through.

Please deploy Your dedicated servers on hardware that meets minimum practical requirement: 4c/vCPU, 12GB RAM, 10-20GB space. NAT forward all 3 ports. Then try again, it will solve most of the problems.
Client itself doesn't need that much, 3-6GB RAM depends on save size.

I ended up getting it to work. Was a stupid mistake on my part. I was giving the ip of my pc to my friend and not the router ip. Just had to google what is my ip and got the right one.

I previously had Steam installed on this PC, but have only used the dedicated server install via steamcmd, and even after uninstalling steam entirely and uninstalling/re-installing dedicated server via steamcmd entirely... the dedicated server still saves into the folder with my uuid instead of "server"
